This document discusses SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) services as the new trends in the IT industry. It notes that social networking, mobile communication, analytics, and cloud services are becoming essential. The author's area of interest is analytics within SMAC. Specifically, they aim to build a recommendation system by analyzing large datasets using Java and Hadoop for map-reduce programs to perform analytics.
In this presentation, Vandana introduces the topic of SMAC and associated trends. She says that she wants to build marketing solutions on social media to improve word of mouth marketing for brands.
In this presentation, Prasanya introduces SMAC and associated trends. Prasanya's interest area lies in enterprise mobility applications where Prasanya wants to tackle the challenge of multiple operating systems and formats.

Detecting eCommerce Fraud with Neo4j and LinkuriousNeo4j
Last year, the global eCommerce market represented $1.9 trillions. As the market expands worldwide, the opportunity for fraud keeps growing with fraudsters constantly refining their tactics to outsmart anti-fraud frameworks. From chargeback fraud to re-shipping scam or identity fraud, numerous types of fraud can impact your organization. While collecting data is essential to enable real-time risk assessment, many organizations don’t have the necessary tools to find the insights needed to block fraud attempts.
Neo4j and Linkurious offer a solution to tackle the eCommerce fraud challenge. Their combined technologies provide a 360° overview of organization’s data and allow real-time analysis and detection of eCommerce fraud patterns and activities.
In this webinar, you will learn about:
- The current trends of eCommerce frauds and the risks for organizations;
- The challenges of detecting fraud tentatives in real-time and the advantage of the graph approach;
- How to use Linkurious’ graph visualization and analysis software to prevent and investigate eCommerce fraud.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Twitter Id: @vharissh14
University: College of Engineering, Guindy,
Anna University
Year/Semester: 3rd Year / 6th Semester
Branch: B.E Computer Science
2. Introduction
○ SMAC – Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud Services are
the new trends in current IT industry.
○ It is called the Fifth wave of IT era.
○ The Social Networking and Mobile communication are
becoming a must for current world to make the
information/contacts available from anywhere and handy.
○ Analytics – The Analytics play a vital role in any industry.
For example if the senior management of a company needs
to make a decision, he may need to perform some analysis
on the past data and using the same he can take a right
decision. Currently the data seems to be in unstructured
format and finding difficult to perform such analysis.
3. Introduction
○ Today the distributed method of computing is helping to
keep and process huge data. As lot of information are
hidden in unstructured format, by using distributed
computing and various Analytics algorithm these data can
be efficiently used by the industries for making their future
decision.
○ In the SMAC era, infrastructure layer will be able to
processing vast amounts of data and be capable of
learning from this information and make intelligent
decisions.
○ Cloud services to gain access to technology with less cost
and maintaining data with infinite scaling.
4. Trends
○ Image centric networks like Instagram, Snapchat though
may not be a competition to Facebook, they are drawing a
large customer base slowly.
○ Snapchat won large customers because of its ability to
send photos and videos that self-destruct after being sent.
○ Improvements in Smart phones such as built in projector.
Eg DLP (Digital Light Projection) WVGA projector in
Samsung galaxy beam.
○ Mobile companies move from 2D future features smart
phone to 3D features smart phone.
5. Trends
○ Visualisation of data will make data analytics more
accessible in 2014 and 2015. Visual analytics allows users
to ask more interactive questions of prepared data sets and
get immediate visual responses.
○ Innovations such as cloud data warehouse platform from
Amazon, Redshift will set new standards in Business
Intelligence platforms.
○ Plenty of software firms are building more big data apps to
bring power of data analytics to people
6. Interest Areas
○ My area of interest is to work more on Analytics part of
SMAC. Data are gold mine for any industry. Most of the
industry like insurance are having data accumulated for
more than 40 years. Some of the vital information are in
unstructured format and the industry may need to analyze
the information for better decision making. This makes me
to dig into this analytics part of SMAC
7. Interest Areas
○ As my area of interest is Analytics I would like to take this
opportunity on building a recommendation system by
analyzing the large data set. A high level block diagram of
my view on building a recommendation system is below. As
I am having some knowledge in Java I would use the same
to create the map-reduce program for performing the
analytics part in Hadoop.
