In this presentation, Smriti introduces IoT and associated trends. Smriti talks about an innovative ides that uses IoT services and cloud application to check the health of laptop and automates messages to both the service centres and the owner.

2. INTRODUCTION
• The concept of IOT identifies nodes which can
be either an animate or inanimate object.
• These nodes are assigned IP addresses for
identification.
• These nodes will be able to transfer data over
a network.
• This leads to monitoring and control of things
with minimal or zero human to human/
human to machine interaction.
3. TRENDS
• Collaboration with Automation eg: Google’s
driverless car with navigation
• Concept of Smart Homes
This can be expanded to Smart Cities
• Health sector
• Data Analytics For eg: Studying the pattern of
the consumer
• Social sector
• Big Impact Trend: Collaboration with Automation
4. INTEREST AREAS
• Areas of Interest: Smart devices, analysis of the data
transferred by the nodes for better control over them,
implementation of IOT
• Innovation idea: Laptop Servicing
i. The standard conditions of a perfectly functioning
laptop would be available on the cloud. The laptop
(which is a node in the IOT)will access the cloud and
compare its own condition with the standard
condition on the cloud.
ii. If the laptop does not match the conditions, this
would indicate a sick laptop. A notification would be
fired to the owner via an SMS and to the service
centre of the concerned laptop company.
5. iii. If the problem can be solved over the
internet, the service centre would do the
needful else they would contact the owner via
email.
• I would like to work on designing and
implementation of IOT, use of IOT in the
health and social sector, smart devices.
