5WH and 1H on IoT
 What is IoT ?
It’s a wireless network between things or objects, thereby
its an extension of the existing Internet of People into
Internet of Things or Objects. The objects are given
unique identifiers to communicate with each other and
with the other nodes available in the current internetwork,
thereby . The network between the things is presumed to
be self – configurable.
 Why IoT ?
It helps in improvising the communication between the
human and the things in the environment. The control over
the home appliances and other objects could be greatly
taken over, hence “every thing comes into hand”. Also to
improvise the resource utilization we could use
5WH and 1H on IoT (Contd.)
 When do we use IoT ?
If there is a need to give intelligence and to control an object remotely
then it could be added to the IoT network and then it could be accessed
directly from an Android Phone.
For ex. to control the flow of water in a sprinkler system at your home
through your Android mobile.
 Where do we use IoT ?
The home appliances, objects around in the environment can be
embedded with the Internetworking capability and unique id’s could be
assigned for ease of use.
 For whom IoT ?
IoT is for those who are roaming in and around, while they need to have
control over those things elsewhere.
RECENT TRENDS
 Industrial Automation – The machines in the industries
can be controlled via Android Mobile through Android
Applications
 Smart Home – All the electrical appliances can be
controlled by Android mobiles by using of embedded
systems
 Smart Health – For a particular patient, particular kind
of drugs are specified.
 Smart City – All the traffic controlling systems, and
other operational systems could be automated by
making use of IoT Technology.
MY INTEREST AREA
 I would like to work on with various sensors that can be used to sense
the things / objects around. So that the responses from the sensors
could be made use of to control other activities.
For ex: If the sensor in a Fridge could detect the power supply is ON /
OFF, then using the output from the sensor the power supply to the fridge
could be controlled.
 Sensors being the first part in IoT, learning them would be a great base
to work upon Actual IoT technology. There after I would like to work on
the implementation of IoT in home appliances and controlling them by
Android Mobiles. May be using OpenHAB and similar technologies they
could be implemented. OpenHAB enables discrete automation with
centralized control. Individual systems can be automated, yet each
one is aware of the others through a common controller.
For ex: The sprinkler system, entertainment system in a home could be
controlled from a single Android mobile.
Thank you

IoT
