WHAT IS SMAC?
SMAC enables enterprises to use cloud for storing huge amounts of
data, generated on mobile devices and social media and analyse
these data for business strategy planning, product promotion,
gamification and a lot of other business ideas.
Social, mobile, analytics and cloud technologies add a new dimension
to a business and using them together maximizes their effect.
With the advent of newer technologies like augmented reality and
internet of things, companies will have a lot more data than they have
now and SMAC will help them utilize this data effectively and increase
productivity.
BOLSTERS OF SMAC
Social Media will allow companies to take advantage of the data
growth generated by growing social media usage by consumers and
businesses.
Mobile’s impact is evident in terms of the data it generates and
interaction that it enables. It also provides two diverging paths of
enterprise mobility and consumer mobility.
Analytics empowers to run businesses through the utilization of big
data, business intelligence and analysis of multi-structured high
quantity data sets.
Cloud provides enterprises a cost optimized solution to store data and
serve their clients and utilize the computing power available in the
most efficient manner.
TRENDS
SMAC is a integration of the most trending technologies which provides a
lot of scope for it, not just at consumer level but also at enterprise level.
BYOD: As more and more mobile devices are introduced, the employee
demand to use these at workplace will increase. This will result in
enterprises adopting “Bring Your Own Device” policies. This opens a new
market for enterprise software which deals with synchronization and
security issues.
Mobile Apps: Growth of mobile apps is obvious and this stands true not
just for consumers but also enterprises which will invest in business mobile
apps to help in automating workflows or building knowledge as
employees and customers use an app.
Internet of Things will generate a lot of data and businesses will be
using cloud to store the data and analytics to analyse it.
TRENDS
Predicting Customer Behaviour based on social media and other
data sources to improve product design or optimizing marketing
strategies will be one of the main focus of businesses.
Operational Optimization to reduce cost, portfolio optimization and
risk management in businesses and other applications like Fraud
Detection, Smarter EHR, Crime Prevention etc. will surge.
Enterprises will be moving to the cloud to provide cost effective and
easy to maintain services to their clients.
According to me the biggest impact will be made by Internet of
Things and Customer Behaviour Prediction which will affect a lot of
industries and create a need for SMAC services in every field.
Introduction of new interactive ways to connect with customer using
Augmented Reality are also promising.
INTEREST AREAS
My interest lies in the Mobile and Cloud areas of SMAC.
Would like to work on a system that allows the retailers to effectively
respond to customer preferences and needs based on their digital
footprint which will create a contextually relevant experience.
The system would enable the customer to receive real time offers and
compare prices from their mobiles based on the customer group they
belong to.
The system will provide easy to access information for the store
manager to understand the requirements of the customer based on
their digital purchases and search history.
Want to work on mobile augmented reality which can help fuse the in
store experience of the customer with their virtual experience and
create stronger customer engagement.

  • 2. WHAT IS SMAC? SMAC enables enterprises to use cloud for storing huge amounts of data, generated on mobile devices and social media and analyse these data for business strategy planning, product promotion, gamification and a lot of other business ideas. Social, mobile, analytics and cloud technologies add a new dimension to a business and using them together maximizes their effect. With the advent of newer technologies like augmented reality and internet of things, companies will have a lot more data than they have now and SMAC will help them utilize this data effectively and increase productivity.
  • 3. BOLSTERS OF SMAC Social Media will allow companies to take advantage of the data growth generated by growing social media usage by consumers and businesses. Mobile’s impact is evident in terms of the data it generates and interaction that it enables. It also provides two diverging paths of enterprise mobility and consumer mobility. Analytics empowers to run businesses through the utilization of big data, business intelligence and analysis of multi-structured high quantity data sets. Cloud provides enterprises a cost optimized solution to store data and serve their clients and utilize the computing power available in the most efficient manner.
  • 4. TRENDS SMAC is a integration of the most trending technologies which provides a lot of scope for it, not just at consumer level but also at enterprise level. BYOD: As more and more mobile devices are introduced, the employee demand to use these at workplace will increase. This will result in enterprises adopting “Bring Your Own Device” policies. This opens a new market for enterprise software which deals with synchronization and security issues. Mobile Apps: Growth of mobile apps is obvious and this stands true not just for consumers but also enterprises which will invest in business mobile apps to help in automating workflows or building knowledge as employees and customers use an app. Internet of Things will generate a lot of data and businesses will be using cloud to store the data and analytics to analyse it.
  • 5. TRENDS Predicting Customer Behaviour based on social media and other data sources to improve product design or optimizing marketing strategies will be one of the main focus of businesses. Operational Optimization to reduce cost, portfolio optimization and risk management in businesses and other applications like Fraud Detection, Smarter EHR, Crime Prevention etc. will surge. Enterprises will be moving to the cloud to provide cost effective and easy to maintain services to their clients. According to me the biggest impact will be made by Internet of Things and Customer Behaviour Prediction which will affect a lot of industries and create a need for SMAC services in every field. Introduction of new interactive ways to connect with customer using Augmented Reality are also promising.
  • 6. INTEREST AREAS My interest lies in the Mobile and Cloud areas of SMAC. Would like to work on a system that allows the retailers to effectively respond to customer preferences and needs based on their digital footprint which will create a contextually relevant experience. The system would enable the customer to receive real time offers and compare prices from their mobiles based on the customer group they belong to. The system will provide easy to access information for the store manager to understand the requirements of the customer based on their digital purchases and search history. Want to work on mobile augmented reality which can help fuse the in store experience of the customer with their virtual experience and create stronger customer engagement.
