Introduction
 SMAC (social, mobile, analytics and cloud) is the
concept that four technologies are currently
driving innovation in business.
 While social, mobile, analytics and cloud
technologies add a new dimension to your
business model, to fully maximize their value
consider the sum is greater than its parts.
 The formula for the Future of Work is called SMAC
- social, mobile, analytics and cloud on one
integrated stack, where each function enables
another to maximize their effect.
 This is the new enterprise IT model delivering an
organization that is more connective,
collaborative, real-time and productive.
Introduction
 The combination of Social, Mobile, Analytics
and Cloud technologies is the new driver for
companies that want to be on the leading
edge.
Trends
 Social Media: It is the easiest to understand and perhaps
the hardest to manage and control. Social media is
changing the way businesses market their brands. It is also
fosters how consumers share and discover new brand
experiences and is creating a consumer who often knows
more about the products and services they are procuring
than the marketers and merchandisers selling them.
 Mobile: The mobility story is more than a smart phone
connected to the web. It involves data mobility and the
idea of safe and secure data transfer any time, any place,
on any device. Related issues include secure corporate
intranet access by employees on personal devices, secure
mobile point of sale devices, wireless RFID-enabled tracking
devices for supply chain management, and terminal
devices running business applications that track real time
shipping detail.
Trends
 Big Data and Analytics: This trend uses the exponential
growth in available data to perform analytics that model
and control processes, identify deep trends and make
better business decisions. This torrent of new data offers an
opportunity to gain unprecedented insight and to quickly
test new ideas. It also provides the power to fundamentally
change business operations.
 Cloud: There are many types and variations of cloud
computing including public, private and hybrid, delivering
platform, infrastructure and software as a service. Businesses
are spending 4 times more on IT than on innovation. Cloud
computing can reverse that while simultaneously reducing
costs, increasing application deployment times and making
IT more agile. It also explains which trends you expect to
make big impact in the next five years.
Real World Example
 Retailers are strategically deploying the SMAC
Stack across key business processes to combine
the best of virtual and physical retail shopping
experiences. Now a customer’s mobile device
can signal store management while they’re
shopping. Advanced analytics arm associates
with the right knowledge about that shopper so
they can provide more valuable assistance and
customers can compare products, get
information and redeem targeted offers from the
Cloud while in store.
Statistics
 Today’s SMAC Stack—‘the fifth wave’ of IT architecture—is
happening faster than anything that’s come before. By
2020, as many as 100 billion computing devices will be
connected to the Web and corporations will be managing
50 times the data they do currently. So SMAC will have a
multiplying effect on businesses and increase productivity
across the organization.
Interest Areas
 My interest areas in the given topic is social
media and cloud computing.
 If given an internship in this area, I would like to
enhance my knowledge on social media and
cloud computing. To support the statement
mentioned in the trends, I would like to create a
customer who is sound enough in knowing
products and their services using social media.
 Coming to the cloud I’m interested in
developing the new technology of cloud which
uses less computing resources to manage data
storage which will really have an edge over
present technology.
Thank you
