Situational Leadership Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of situational leadership is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor.
The difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature of the topic, which requires a comprehensive
understanding of leadership theories and the ability to apply them to diverse scenarios.
Situational leadership involves assessing different situations and adapting one's leadership style
accordingly, making the task of articulating the nuances and complexities of this approach quite
intricate.
To compose an effective situational leadership essay, one must delve into various leadership
models, such as the Hersey-Blanchard model or the Path-Goal theory, and analyze their
relevance in different contexts. This demands a keen analytical mind to evaluate the dynamic
nature of leadership, considering factors like the maturity of the followers, the task at hand, and
the broader organizational culture.
Moreover, effective communication is crucial in elucidating how leaders should navigate various
situations. Expressing these concepts coherently requires a nuanced vocabulary and a strong
grasp of the underlying principles. The essay should not only define situational leadership but
also illustrate its real-world applications through case studies and examples.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to balancing theory with practical insights. Drawing
connections between theoretical frameworks and real-world scenarios demands a thoughtful
synthesis of information. The ability to present a compelling argument while maintaining clarity
and coherence adds another layer of complexity to the task.
In conclusion, tackling a situational leadership essay necessitates a deep understanding of
leadership theories, effective communication skills, analytical prowess, and the ability to bridge
the gap between theory and practice. While it may be a formidable task, the opportunity to
explore and dissect the intricacies of leadership in varying contexts is undeniably enriching.

When Cells Malfunction Case Study
The Case Study: When Cells Malfunction discusses Mary and Kevin s four month
old child. Mary noticed that the newborn seemed to become weaker as time
progressed. It was when her child was having trouble ingesting formula when the
couple took their baby to the research hospital. This is where they learned that their
child showed symptoms of Tay Sachs disease. The researchers at the facility
indicated that descendants of Eastern Europe were more prone to have this disease.
The doctors explained that this was a very rare disorder which causes the lysosome
of the cell to malfunction. The lysosome is sometimes compared to the digestive
system of the cell as it is responsible to excrete harmful substances from the cell.

Southwest Airlines And The State Of Texas
Back in March of 1967, Southwest Airlines was first founded under a different
name, Air Southwest Company, by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher . With his own
funds of $500 thousand, Kelleher filed an application with the Texas Aeronautics
Commission for the right to fly commercial airplanes in the state of Texas. In
February 20th of 1968, the Texas Aeronautics Commission voted unanimously,
granting Air Southwest a certificate of public convenience and necessity. The
following day, Braniff, Trans Texas (later known as Texas International), and
Continental Airlines obtained a restraining order from Travis County District,
prohibiting the certificate to be delivered to Air Southwest Company . Air
Southwest Company tried to file appeal with the Austin State District Court and
the Third Court of Civil Appeals. Both courts ruled against Air Southwest, forcing
Herb Kelleher to appeal with the Texas Supreme Court. The Texas Supreme Court
unanimously voted to overturn the lower court s decisions and ruled in favor of
Air Southwest . In December of 1970, the United States Supreme Court denied the
appeal by Braniff and Texas International to remove Air Southwest certification . In
1983, Winifred Barnum, a children s author and illustrator, wrote a children s book
based on Southwest s legal fight called Gumwrappers and Goggle. In Jan 1st of
1971, Lamar Muse joined Air Southwest as the President. In March of 1971, Lamar

As some of you may or may not know, I used to be a Pro Dominatrix. The list of
fetishes or kinks I catered to in my past was a mile wide. Id like to touch on one in
particular that I used to do called Sissyfication. In other words, I would take men.
dress them up as women, make them imitate women and feminize them. For some,
these actions I used to force upon them was an ultimate form of humiliation. To srip
them of their naatural manhood, and to subject them to imitate a woman was so
unnatural to them. Now I understand why many was so uncomfortable to this aspect
of kink. It was due to the fact that I was forcing them to be molding into something
God had not created them to be. Throught the years I discovered the many different
facets of feminization. I had an uncanny ability to push men, their boundaries and
their limits because I had sixth sense of the things they hide deep into their souls....

I recall that that stunt in particular caused an uproar with some folks...but I was

many men I met out there who was into crossdressing. So when I see a man like

General Strain Theory Of Jerome Kerviel
Jerome Kerviel is a criminal there is no denying that, he admitted to every crime he
was charged with, but what would have caused such a prominent businessman to go
from a rising star within the banking business to rogue trader? What structural issues
may have helped or even encouraged Kerviel to commit these crimes? Why would
Kerviel risk everything he had worked for? To answer questions like this I had to
think about them as unique situations that led Kerviel to becoming the rogue trader. I
believe that using theoretical theories such as, strain theory, differential association
and rational choice will help better understand Kerviel s decision to go from rising
star to convicted felon.
General Strain Theory General strain theory shifts attention away from economic
status to a social psychological syndrome of experiencing negative emotions arising
from strains or negative dimensions in one s environment (Friedrichs 2010). In other
words, strain theory is simply having a goal but lacking the method of achieving said
goal. Thus, the person becomes innovative in creating a method which allows them
achieve their goal, usually thru illegal means, as in Kerviel s ... Show more content on

The term Rational Choice addresses two related aspects of a deeper intellectual
provocation in sociology. The term choice implies understanding social phenomena
as result of individual action, and that every action is seen as a choice, in a
counterfactual view, in light of its possible alternatives. Describing these choices as
rational implies deducing them from actor characteristics other than the action itself
(Scholtz 2015). However, for the context of this study rational choice is defined as
strategically planning to commit a crime by going over the pros and cons and
comparing those to the risk rewards of committing the
Theme Of Pride In The Stone Angel
Pride In Margaret Laurence s powerful novel The Stone Angel the theme pride
often displayed through the characters. Each figure had their own way of showing
this theme through both actions and words. The recurring theme is exhibited by
the behaviors of Brampton Shipley, Hagar Shipley, and her father, Jason Currie.
Hagar Shipley lived her life blind, with pride as her cane for guidance. There was
many situations throughout the novel where she made decisions solely based off
of her pride. The first example of this is when Hagar was just a little girl,
scampering around in her father s store. When she made a comment while Jason
was talking with Mrs.McVitie,a customer, he took a ruler to Hagar s hands.
Despite the stinging pain, she wouldn t cry in front of her father. She held back the
tears until her father couldn t see because that would show weakness and hurt her
pride. Another example of Hagar s pride was when her son, Marvin, went to war.
When he comes to say goodbye, Hagar states that I wanted all at once to hold him
tightly, plead with him, against all reason and reality, not to go. As most mothers
would do such a thing, Hagar s pride kicks in as she reconsiders her thinking, But I
did not want to embarrass both of us, or have him think I d taken leave of my
senses. This shows how engraved pride is carved into Hagar s head. Even though
her son is going into war and may die, she can t even show him that she will worry
about him. Another example that
Tale of Two Airlines Essay
Case Analysis Tale of Two Airlines in the Network Age
By AKK
This case analyses Prof. McPherson s service experience with respect to two Airline
carriers, which was not expected in this age of Network and Information Technology
and also the service level expectations from the customers. First we analyze the
setting/situation, issues Prof. McPherson experienced and his assumptions; and then
try to address them. The bottom line: addressing such situations would improve
efficiency, customerloyalty, brand name and increased profits

The technology to communicate between the airlines is available and the customers
do expect that the airlines share their passenger information for connecting flights.
Flight to London left 7 minutes before departure time:
Given the time and weather, the airline crew would have been under lot of stress and
might be very eager to move on to their next task and also we need to consider
operational expenses of a foreign airline. There are multiple issues here: 1. No
communication between the two airlines regarding the flight delays and the
connecting passengers (already discussed above). 2. The London based Airline
could have verified their passenger list and should have identified Prof. McPherson
as a Gold card member and a loyal customer and should have taken any one of these
actions based on the situation: * Should have waited until the departure time. *
Should have an agent at the gate until departure time and should have helped Prof.
McPherson with alternative arrangements, if he was late.
London based airlines should be able to access their central database from any place
in the world and should have been able to identify their patrons.

Carl Jung s Theory Of Psychology
Sigmund Freud along with Carl Jung are among the main pioneers of psychology,
they can be viewed as the early founders and most influential thinkers, as they
contributed significantly to the modern science of psychology. They earnestly
searched to understand the human psychological frailties in their entire lives trying to
address and understand the human s internal changes and struggles. This paper will
compare and contrast Feud s theories to those of Jung. Though their theories differ,
they have had a great impact on our discernment of the human mind and their
influences have led to the successful development of the wide range of human
distress (Bluhm, 2006).
Freud s point of view of the entire human psyche was from a sexual perspective; his
theory assumed that the human mind had three basic components: the id (instincts),
the ego (reality) and the superego (morality). The components were often conflicting
and they usually shaped the personality. His theory is also denoted to as
psychoanalytic theory of development since Sigmund Freud is the father of
psychoanalytic psychology.
On the other hand, Jung developed his theory based on the belief that human psyche
has undeniable religious nature. He theorized that people should be taught to
consolidate the conscious mind and the unconscious with a process he termed
individuation, for them to become whole. Jung had a wide knowledge of religion,
mythology, and philosophy, and in particular the symbolism connected to the
Dead Panic Compare And Contrast
The two games designed by Justin De Witt, Castle Panic which was released in
2009, and Dead Panic, released in 2013, that have very similar mechanics and
gameplay. Castle Panic is a game about defending six towers from being destroyed
by incoming monsters, while Dead Panic is about surviving and escaping a zombie
apocalypse in a cabin in the woods. The two games have some major similarities that
they share, but also some important differences that make themselves unique. Both
games can have 2 to 6 players, but there are other similarities that link these two
games, such as the enemies in the games. Each game has enemies on small tokens
that enter the game when drawn from a bag. For both games the monsters have health
that when damaged, is turned to lower their health until it hits zero and is then taken
of the board. Another similarity between the games is... Show more content on

In Castle Panic there are the plain monsters such as trolls and goblins, and in Dead
Panic there are brutes and shamblers. The difference that sets the two apart is that
Castle Panic includes boss monsters that make the game more difficult, while in
Dead Panic, when you defeat a monster then they can enter the game again later.
Between the two games monsters move differently in one compared to the other,
in Castle Panic monsters move forward one towards the center after each player s
turn, whereas in Dead Panic monsters move in one towards the cabin, unless it s a
sprinter or the zombies have a direct line of sight to someone who is outside, then
they move towards that player. The major difference between the two games is the
objective to win the game, for Castle Panic you must survive all the waves of
monsters without losing all of the towers in the center, while in Dead Panic you
must collect three radio pieces to call in the car and escape, but you don t need
everyone to win if they die to the
Modern Technology And Science Rule
ords
Since the 18th and 19th century the world has spiralled into an ever changing and
fast paced place where the possibilities are endless and technology and science rule.
There was the introduction of machines, modern technology and science which gave
the world incredible inventions such as the motorcar, aeroplane, the radio and
electricity. These are the things that bought civilisation into modernity, it changed
not only how people used the world but how they saw the world and envisaged the
future. As times changes, architects gracefully chose to or were forced to adapt to
the needs and conditions of their present world which were created by this
Modernity. Some of these conditions which will be analysed are; the way in which
society started to reject traditions and believe in the present and future, the initial
reactions of scepticism towards the development of technology and imagination
becoming important as people s views on the world started to shift.
The early 19th century was a tumultuous time for civilians and young soldiers alike
living in Germany, with unthinkable losses in the war and an uncertain political
future, this time of uneasy life with hopes for a better future created widespread
despair and wild hopes through the country (Gay 2008, p315). This along with the
constantly rising trends of modernity and the worlds need to make it new, an ever
growing list of modern men throughout Europe strove to make a difference, one of
these men was Walter Gropius. A
Victor Hugo Research Paper
In the 1800s, Victor Hugo, a French author, wrote the book The Hunchback of
Notre Dame, which centred on the character Quasimodo. Quasimodo is considered
ugly and monstrous, with a hunchback and a wart that covers his eyes. He is also
deaf. But why should his handicap matter? In the novel, Hugo uses his disability
as a tool to make him more pitiable despite his uncomfortable actions. The same
disability can be found in many other classic novels, such as Moby Dick, by the
American writer Herman Melville, or Carson McCullers s work in The Heart is a
Lonely Hunter. In fact, deafness is to be seen as a symbol of innocence and pureness
in the literary world. However, in a less romanticised version of the loss of hearing
that is real life, not being able to hear is a very real problem many people have to
deal with everyday. As a matter of fact, deafness is much... Show more content on

While sensorineural deafness can be the result of tiny hair cells being damaged, this
can also occur when the auditory nerve is damaged (Better Hearing Institute, n.d.).
Sensorineural deafness changes the ability of hearing faint sound and reduce the
intensity of sound, creating difficulties for the person suffers from it to understand
others (hearcom, n.d.). The causes of sensorineural deafness may vary, the exposure
to loud noises, aging, medicines, illnesses, head trauma, or malformation in the
structure of the inner ear are all potential causes (Better Hearing Institute, n.d.).
Genetic also play as a role in the cause of sensorineural deafness. While
sensorineural hearing loss is irreversible, researchers have found a way to help the
patients to be able to hear better. Through a cochlear implant, an electronic device
that replaces the function of the damaged inner ear and provide sound signal to the
brain, people who suffer from sensorineural hearing loss would be able to hear

Aristotle and the Doctrine of the Mean Essay
Aristotle and the Doctrine of the Mean
Aristotle seeks flourishing happiness in life. He believes that this can be achieved
for each individual through the embracement of virtues. Aristotle believes that
virtues are the mean of two vices. This is the basis of the Aristotelian Doctrine of
the Mean . This paper will explore the basis of the Doctrine of the Mean, its
connections to Eudaimonia, and its success or lack thereof.
Eudaimonia is a Greek word whose meaning can be translated several ways. These
include happiness, the success of life s activities, prosperity, and the act of the
thriving. Eudaimonia is used as a noun. The roots of the word s meaning are found in
its parts. Eu signifies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It needs the external goods as well; for it is impossible, or not easy, to do noble acts
without the proper equipment. (Nicomachean Ethics, Bk 1, Ch. 8, p. 96)
More importantly, Aristotle ties satisfaction to Eudaimonia. Satisfaction is seen by
Aristotle as a vital step to achieving Eudaimonia. Eudaimonia is one of the key
concepts to Aristotelian philosophy because Aristotle holds it to be one of the most
important goals for humanity or as it is sometimes referred to, the telos of human
conduct.
Where there are ends apart from the actions, it is the nature of the products to be
better than the activities. (Nicomachean Ethics, Bk I, Ch. I, p. 89)
Arete is the Greek term for virtue . Throughout the Nicomachean ethics, Aristotle
uses it to mean a measure of how well something fulfills its intended use (or
Ergon), specifically a high measure. This applies to both living creatures and
objects. A ditch digger may be a bad ditch digger, an average ditch digger, a good
ditch digger, or perhaps a truly excellent ditch digger. It is the purpose of the ditch
digger to dig ditches, thus if he or she is truly excellent at digging ditches and
exercises that skill, then they have Arete. A ditch digger who either does not have or
does not exercise the skill to dig ditches excellently lacks Arete because they do not
fulfill their Ergon well.

The Existence Of Miracles By David Hume
When thinking about the claims that are made about the man on the tightrope
there are several lenses one can focus on. Through these varying views, the man on
the tightrope is being inspected, as well as his greater world and the fly that he
sees disappear and reappear in front of him. This shows there is an extensive
variation of facts to be examined for and against the case of miracles. Consequently,
the authors included in the book, In Defense of Miracles, each considers different
important details as the defining factors in the debate of the existence of miracles. Of
those, some focus more heavily on the likelihood of miracles themselves such as
Hume, others focus on the existence of Godsuch as Flew and Beck, and others focus
on a particular example of a miracle such as Craig.
Against Miracles: David Hume
David Hume argues against miracles and states that they are improbable because
most are reported by those who deceive others, the sensation of wonder that
overrides the sense of reasoning, or because they are inapplicable to our scientific
culture today. Hume addresses that in essentially all cases, the probability of a
miracle truly happening, in comparison to any one of his listed reason, is highly
improbable. He does not implicitly state why miracles cannot occur.
In his first argument, Hume addresses the tendency of humans to deceive. In his view
...there is not to be found, in all history, any miracle attested by a sufficient number of
men... (34). He believes

has continue to today. But it did not become an issue until the 1900s through 1920s
after the Mexican Revolution. During this time many Mexicans immigrants arrived in
overwhelming amounts into the United States introducing marijuana as a recreational

The Tempest Feminist Analysis

Be A WomanSycorax is ostensibly absent from Shakespeare s The Tempest. The
witch does not appear on stage once, as she dies long before the actions of the play
begin. She is, however, invoked frequently, through memories and retellings and
secondhand accounts, primarily by the character of Prospero. Many critics have
used Sycorax s absence as undisputable proof that The Tempest, with few
traditionally powerful female characters, is, at its core, an anti feminist play.
However, while it may seem as though the easiest way to absolve women of their

To further manipulate Ariel by invoking Sycorax, Prospero adds, Refusing her
grand hests, she did confine thee...and in her most unmitigable rage / Into a cloven
pine (1.2.322 25). It seems as though Prospero creates or at least embellishes what
Ariel knows firsthand about Sycorax. But Prospero lacks firsthand observation or
concrete evidence about Sycorax; thus, Prospero constructs Sycorax as simply his
opposite and tool. Because Prospero never knew Sycorax, his detailed descriptions
of her can only be his own construction, which he manipulates for his benefit,
specifically to legitimize his power. The more emphatically Prospero tries to
demonize Sycorax s powers, the more he evokes her permeating presence. For any
structure to be created and sustained, it is necessary to have an other on the
opposite side thus, by damning Sycorax, Prospero does two things; a) solidifies
Sycorax as the other or a competitor, and b) confirms the existence of a structure or
ulterior motive in this case, patriarchal power. Thus, the implicit power struggle,
which seems to be gendered, between Sycorax and Prospero is revealed. Although
Sycorax is dead, Prospero s struggle to be the stronger power is an undercurrent
throughout the play. There are some commonalities between their powers,

October 11 was a picture perfect fall day; it was the first beautiful day I had seen in
months it seemed. After losing my husband, the depression and the thought of
raising my little girl alone were too much to bare. This day however, was bright
and promising, this was the day, that I had my beautiful baby girl, Savannah Grace.
Savannah was born 4 weeks early at 34 weeks into my pregnancy. She weighed 5
pounds 7 ounces and was 18 inches long. Savannah s doctors believed that my
depression caused Savannah to be born prematurely (Santrock, 2013). She had and

that, I knew she was going to be talkative because she was always trying to say new
words and talk to me. She was an early walker and took her first steps around 9
months and was walking on her own around 13 months. Savannah had an easy
temperament; she did, however, show inhibition to the unfamiliar, starting around 8
months, which is when a child starts to show shyness around strangers or peers
(Santrock, 2013). Savannah also displayed a secure attachment, secure attachment in
a recent study was linked to high self esteem and self confidence (Santrock, 2013). I
found that Savannah would often begin to fuss when I left the room but as soon as I
returned she would come over to me and smile at me then continue to play with her
toys (Santrock, 2013). The temperament and attachment have not been linked to any
disabilities. The temperament and attachment seem to make sense because Savannah
and I spend a lot of time together so she is more attached to me and, therefore, feels
more secure. In order to help develop a secure attachment a parent should keep a
positive attitude continuously throughout the child s life. When I am at work

manufacturing outside the U.S. (in order to pay cheaper taxes) and then expect to

perhaps only make the rich wealthier and the poor poorer. It would cause an even
larger ripple effect in the work place, resulting in less pay, hours, and benefits.
Additionally, I think companies are beyond the concept of profit, but are greedier

Comparing Beowulf And The Middle Of Good And
Underhandedness
Commonly we see a clash of good versus fiendish in motion pictures, books,
society, and for this situation, an epic sonnet. This theme is utilized so regularly in
light of the fact that it relates to such a large number of aspects of genuine life. The
epic lyric Beowulf is a case of this on the grounds that the saint of the story has a
progressing clash with the insidious scalawag, Grendel. In Beowulf, the contention in
the middle of good and underhandedness is the lyric s fundamental and most critical
viewpoint. The artist makes it clear that great and malice don t exist as just contrary
energies, however that both qualities are available in everybody. Beowulfspeaks to the
capacity to do great, or to perform acts sacrificially and in... Show more content on

the world from malevolence. At the point when this story was made, the creator
proposed for it to be clear that Beowulf should be the legend of the story.
Beowulf takes it upon himself to report a few awesome deeds that he will perform
to help nations in need. One of these deeds is his offer to King Hrothgar, in which
he proposes to kill Grendel. Beowulf states, solitary I ll settle the strife (37). In this
announcement Beowulf is just expressing that he will murder this detestable
animal, Grendel. Another benevolent act Beowulf states is that he will kill Grendel
s mom. Beowulf announces, And I give you promise, she Grendel s mom should

Painting Portraiture In The Whirlwind By Paul Wright
Painting portraiture will become obsolete when the time arrives that photographers
will have learned something about portraiture in its deeper sense... Alfred Stieglitz.
Keeping a memory of someone was not easy during the Enlightment era as it is today.
Individuals now keep thousands of images and photographs for important and
unimportant events to mark them, while the expenses of having a portrait painting
during early ages was sometimes unaffordable. However, paintingportraiture did not
become obsolete even with the immerse use of photography. Paul Wright a
contemporary artist who painted the Whirlwind has proved Stieglitz wrong as portrait
paintings still have their significance, but with a different context and meaning than
those of the early ages. Giovanni Arnoflini and his Bride for Jan van Eyck and the
Whirlwind for Paul Wright are two portraits that open the doors for a comparison of

The painting is still being interpreted differently, however one of the interpretations
is that the portrait is painted to keep a memory of the wife since many wives died
after giving birth at the time. The wife is thought to be pregnant and so a memory
of the wife with her husband seemed to be necessary. The couples were of an upper
middle class which were able to afford to pay the artist for a portrait and the details
of the era were also described in the painting. The clothing, the furniture, religious
figures that are present in the mirror for instance give an idea of the important
details considered at that ear. Jan van Eyck in other words, used the portrait to
describe the couples, to keep a memory of them, and described significant details of
that era. He visualized how an upper class family usually is in terms of their houses
and clothing. Moreover, the artist uses lightening and shades to emphasize more on
the painting and to make it as real as
Immanuel Kant Biography
Immanuel Kant was born Emmanuel in eastern Prussia into a poor family in 1724.
His family had originally emigrated from Scotland where they spelled their last
name Cant. Emmanuel s family was quite large by today s standards consisting of
nine children, he was the fourth born and only one of four to make it to adulthood.
He and his siblings grew up in a Pietist house, the focus of Pietism was the literal
study of the bible. Their childhood was a strict and punitive one that stressed religious
teachings over the sciences and mathematics. After learning Hebrew, Emmanuel
changed his name to Immanuel. While attending the Collegium Fridericianum was a
good student, Immanuel improved his studies and eventually enrolled at the
University of Kongsberg by age 16 in 1740. It is there that he taught about the great
philosophers Leibniz and Wolff by a rationalist Martin Knutzen. It is also here where

Preposition includes to kinds of function words which means a word that doesn t
belong to one of the four major parts of speech in English (noun, verb, adjective,
adverb). Their purpose is not only to express meaning but to relate other words to
each other (Hornby, 1975:7).
Prepositions are words normally placed before nouns or pronouns and can also be
followed by verbs but, except after but and except, the verb must be in the gerund
form (Thomson, 1986: 91)
A preposition is a words that links a noun or a noun equivalent (e.g. a pronoun or a
gerund) to another word by expressing such relationships as location, direction, time,
or purpose. (Longman,...............).
Preposition are always followed by nouns (or pronouns). They are connective words
that show the relationship between the nouns following them and one of the basic
sentence elements: subject, verb, object, or complement. They usually indicate
relationship such as position, place, direction, time manner, agent, possession, and
condition, between their objects and other parts of the sentence. Prepositional phrases
usually provide international asked for by the question words who, what, where,
when, why, how, and how long. The noun or pronoun following the preposition is it s
object. A pronoun used in this position is always an object pronoun: me, you, him,
her, it, us, and them. The preposition plus its object is called the preposition phrase.

A good varsity program really depends on a strong JV program. Can you talk about
the importance of building a strong foundation on the lower level, so that the varsity

DC: (Jason) Weatherby has done a wonderful job and I just hope to go down to the
JV level and keep that going. It boils down even to the Pop Warner level. That s
something that as a JV coach, I want to incorporate even more. More communication
and more networking with the Pop Warner team. Because the Pop Warner feeds the
JV. The JV feeds the varsity. The more that we are on sync, the better the program is

Best two things in my life
Reading and writing has always played part of me. From toddler to adult, I have
managed to sharpen both skills to my liking. However, even though it significantly
helped, schooling was not what influenced me to continue developing those skills to

now reading and writing have become the safety net of my life. I know that even if I

However, something was missing from my life, and even then I could feel it.
When I got a little too old to play outside, I began reading. Reading was the new
outlet for my imagination and the stories I read fascinated me. They weren t too
unlike the scripts of computer games or the own stories I came up with on my
own, but books actually had the action and emotional aspects written out. And
again, while my peers were reading things about growing up, things that had
morals and would teach valuable lessons (I remember one book about a shoplifter
who had to do community service at an animal shelter), I read real fiction: Jurassic
Park, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings... Stuff of fantasy and science fiction
that let my mind stray from reality. Stuff that kept my imagination alive while I
was being forced to learn multiplication and the names of countries. Of course, my
teachers encouraged me to keep reading, as long as I wasn t doing the reading in
the middle of their lectures. But it wasn t because of their influence, however, that
kept me interested in books. It was because I loved it. It put pictures into my head
and made me think. So I kept reading. But even then I knew reading wasn t enough...

Republicanism In The United States
Republicanism: There were 3 different definitions of republicanism that were
brought up in the United States. The first form, held by members of the educated
elites were influenced by the histories of the popular governments in Greece and
Rome, and were believed that republics could only succeed if they were small in
size and the same size in population. A republic offered its citizens equality for
opportunity in return for sacrifices. A natural aristocracy, men who were able to
elevate in talent and started from humble beginnings to positions of power and
privilege, would govern society. The second form of republicanism, who were also
other members of the elite class but also some skilled craftsmen, focused more on
economic theory than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan provided for a two house legislature, where the lower house is elected
directly by the people and the upper house selected by the lower house.
Representation in both houses was proportional to property or population, en
executive was selected by Congress, there was a national judiciary, and there were
congressional vetoes over state laws. The Virginia Plan gave Congress the full
power to legislate in all cases to which the separate states are incompetent. In other
words, the Virginia plan allowed Congress the power to create laws where separate
states lacked the qualification or ability to make laws. The New Jersey Plan came
2 weeks after the Virginia Plan, as many delegates of smaller states believed that
the Virginia Plan went too far in the direction of national consolidation. Created by
William Paterson of New Jersey and other delegates from small states, the New
Jersey Plan called for strengthening the Articles of Confederation instead of
completely rearranging the government. The New Jersey Plan proposed having a
unicameral (one house/legislative) congress in which each state had an equal vote,
but giving Congress new powers of taxation and trade regulation. The collection of
import duties and a stamp tax, the regulation of trade and the enforcement of
requisitions upon the states with military force were all part of the plan. Finally, the
representatives of Connecticut came up with a compromise: a government with an
upper house made up of equal numbers of delegates from each state and a lower
house with proportional representation based upon population. This is significant
because this idea formed the basis of the new U.S. Constitution, which became the
law of the land in 1789, and which we still use
Act Rule And Preference Utilitarianism
In a simplistic sense Utilitarianism, originally established by Jeremy Bentham, is the
ethical and teleological theory which maintains it is the total consequences of an
action which determines its rightness or wrongness; that is, it is not just my
happiness which should be taken into account but the happiness of everyone
concerned. However, although this is the classical approach to Utilitarianism, this
theory as be interpreted in numerous ways in this essay I will focus on three (Act,
rule and preference utilitarianism). Another approach to moral philosophywas put
forward by Immanuel Kant, Kant proposes that only duty and rules should govern
our actions, as consequences are beyond our control. As a Deontologist Kant faces the

KENTUCKY, 492 U.S. 361 1989) The Court later ruled in Atkins v. Virginia (2002)
that, mentally retarded persons were exempt from the death penalty as well, a further
sign of society s changing standards. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002)
The decision in Atkins explained that due to their impairments, it is highly unlikely
that such offenders could ever deserve capital punishment. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA,
536 U.S. 320 2002) The reasoning in Atkins is applied to the Simmons decision.
Kennedy argues that because individuals under 18 are categorically less culpable than
the average criminal, they should not deserve the death penalty. Kennedy adds that
there are three differences between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders. First,
juveniles often lack the maturity found in adults, a trait that is understandable among
the young and adolescents are overrepresented statistically in virtually every
category of reckless behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005)
The second difference is, that they are more vulnerable to negative influences or
outside pressures and this could lead to deviant behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS,
(03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Lastly, Kennedy asserts that the character of a juvenile
is not as well formed as an adult and that personality traits in adolescents are
transitory. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Moreover, because
of the comparative immaturity and irresponsibility of

Firstly, Camus incorporates symbolism in the novel in order to persuade the readers

symbol that has popped up on numerous accounts is the weather and or heat. In the

The condition is primarily treated pharmacologically with the prescription drug

the Earth s atmosphere. There are a wide variety of topics in astronomy that have

which individual would not aspire to learn about how the universeoriginated? Or what

Astronomers have identified plenty of objects that were circulating the sun farther

70,000 of these small objects named as Trans Neptunians, which had a diameter that
was larger than 100 km. Also, these objects extended from Neptune s orbit from 30
astronomical units (AU) to 50 astronomical units. There is a thick band in which
these Trans Neptunians were restricted in and this ring was named as the Kuiper

Ethical Issues Facing The Clinical Research

There are many ethical concerns that arise when a company, or individual, stand to

investigation. The conflicting interests of financial gain and the need for accurate
and complete medical research are the overarching issues facing the clinical research
industry.
History of Clinical Research
Clinical research trials can be traced as far back as biblical times, though in those
days the researchers used legumes and lemons1. As medicine advanced, so did
clinical research techniques. The first double blind controlled trial which occurred
in 1943, was for a drug to treat the common cold. By 1946, the first randomized trial
began for Streptomycin. It didn t take long for leading researchers to discover the
need for regulatory framework1. The ethical framework that formed our healthcare
delivery system is rooted in the Hippocratic Oath, which states that the prime duty of
a physician is to avoid harming the patient. However, this oath has not been shown
the same respect in the clinical research world1. The FDA, founded in 1862, was
designed to be a scientific regulation institution that quickly became a law
enforcement organization in
Paragraph On William The Conqueror
William the Conqueror
William was young at this time in his life, but that didn t mean he would back down
from a fight. William was already the ruler of Normandy and this, the battle of
hastings would give him his second country to rule. Although he would become ruler
of England he still didn t go there much he lived in Normandy, and was a very
respectable and experienced ruler, under his reign the church flourished.
William the conqueror in the battle of hastings. September 27 is when things started
going William s way, the wind shifted and started moving them right into England.
Directly after reaching shore William decided to make his move and as stated in
the document William I. William rallied the fleeing horsemen, however, and they
turned and slaughtered the foot soldiers chasing them. On two subsequent
occasions, William s horsemen feigned retreat, which fooled Harold s soldiers,
who were then killed by their opponents. Harold s brothers were also killed early in
the battle. Toward nightfall the king himself fell, struck in the eye by an arrow
according to Norman accounts, and the English gave up. (par.1) this quote shows that
William knew what he was doing and did the right thing and also that he wasn t
scared. William was about to become a ruler of another country.
William was already good and experienced at ruling so thus should be no problem for
him. William was already the ruler of Normandy and was doing a great job so being
ruler of England wouldn t be a

situations. An example of this was the decision he made to go to war after the
bushwhackers attacked his family. 7. Jeff is loyal in character. An example is him

Jeff learned that he was not very nice. Captain Asa scared David so much that he
went home before furlough. The next day Jeff went home on furlough to see his
family. When Jeff was telling his family about his new life in the army, Jeff s
father remembered Clardy from the Mexican war. His father said that Clardy was
a strange fellow whom nobody trusted. Clardy wanted to be colonel of the
Mississippi Volunteer rifles, but when Jeffery Davis got the job he moved far
away from the south. The next day, on his way back to Fort Leavenworth, he sees
David s mom forcing David to go back to the Fort. They return together. When Jeff
returned, the army broke camp and started the long march to Springfield, Missouri.
The sergeant was Millholland, who Jeff liked much more than Clardy. The next
evening they camped 25 miles away from Springfield. When Jeff shot his gun to
clean it, he got arrested and was taken before Clardy. As his punishment, he got all
night sentry duty. The battle was going to be at Wilson s Creek, Missouri. The
north planed to attack the rebels at dawn and by surprise. They failed to surprise
the rebels, lost hundreds of men and the battle. The day after the battle, Jeff had to
report for ambulance duty. The field hospital was 2 large gray tents thrown together
in a clump of trees. When Jeff was scanning the field of people, he saw lots of
dangerously injured people, none of them looked happy
The United Farm Workers Association Improve The
Conditions...
To what degree did the United Farm Workers Association improve the conditions of
farmworkers in California.
Introduction:
In 1910 mexicans fled from Mexico to work in agriculture in America, they labored
in inhumane conditions and the people they worked for ignored state laws on
working conditions (Tavaana). This is how the farm workers would work before the
United Farm WorkersUnion came along. They didn t have the rights they deserved,
they were treated however the growers would like to treat them because they
would go around the law and do what they wanted. Farm workers didn t have
unions and the rights that they do now back in 1910. Research has been done on
this topic on how them migrating started, on how they were treated, and how it has
gotten better over the years. This topic is important because it discusses some of the
history of Mexican immigrants. It also demonstrates some challenges they went
through when they came to the United States to find work. My study of the topic is
important because it will give some background information on how the farm
workers were brought and how they were treated. After I will bring in Cesar Chavez
and his contributions to helping the farm workers. Lastly I will be talking about his
negative contribution which isn t talked about that often and comparing it with the
positive. My investigation fits into broader questions in the subject because it is
taking two different points of views and comparing them to each other. I choose
Drug Arrests on College Campuses
Drug arrests on college campuses have become an escalating issue around the
United States for several years. Rehabs.com is said to be a website that aids people
overcome their addictions. I will get into more detail about this later in the paper.
This same website conducted a study about colleges that included the most on
campus arrests, including those who occur in the residence halls. This was known
as the rehabs.com report. This report was led by the Drugs on Campus Head Jon
Millward. This report concludes that College at Oneonta in New York State tops
the list in drug arrests on college campuses around the nation. Other SUNY
colleges are mentioned in this report as well. SUNY schools include SUNY
Fredonia, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Albany and a few others as
well. In this paper I will primarily discuss in depth three main issues associated with
the report and why these make the report very controversial. One point that I will
be arguing in this paper will be that the report lacks an author and a publisher.
Validity is not present in a report where the author and the publisher is missing. It
makes us think that the information is unreliable, since it is unclear as to where it
came from. The second point that I will be addressing is that I will discuss the
importance of social media. The media has also many uses as well, such as to keep
close contact with friends and to distribute information online quickly. The
rehabs.com report was widely covered by the media,
The Influence Of Values On Buying Behavior
doesn t really impact you buying behavior. I think they view it as a bit of a novelty
to see that information. You re impressed by the information. You re impressed by
the companies willingness to provide it. There s kind of a quid pro quo there. You
re willing to show me that. Well, I m willing to build some more even though,
wow, I m running high here this month. Thanks for that information. I ll make your
conscience decision. I think that s true of your hydro usage, your cable usage,
your internet usage, and Itunes for me is the greatest example. Where I don t

If we don t have those things, my suspicions are more heightened in that they re not
going to turn this thing on if we don t give them something.
Interviewer: (22:58) WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMERS DO YOU THINK WE ARE
TARGETING WITH AN APP? WHAT S YOUR ASSUMPTION THERE?
Respondent: My answer is a bit tainted in that I saw that original work with Pixel
Tours and I thought it was quite interesting where they had those, I think there was
five groups there, they re the millennials. Then you get into the family man and
you re a heavy user and you re cost conscious and whatever. It was really interesting
to me that the folks that travel us every day, all the time, had no great interest in an
app. They don t really have great interest in an offering. There just using the road.
So that, to me, speaks of our valued proposition of reliability. I think you re
probably looking at the folks that are a little bit on the fence and they re looking
for information at any point of time. What decision should they make. I still think
that there s a concern and the board expressed it and Andres relayed that to us. The
board s trying to figure out exactly what influenced those ways or beat the traffic
and wrecks have on a person s decision at any given moment of any given trip. I
think there s a ton of people out there that look at those trip planning apps and see
that there s congestion somewhere and so they may begin the navigation maze, the
way they go. I just think that for every one
Changing Demographics Of The American Male
For the hindered American male, frustВrated with the changing demographics of the
nation and grasped by the conviction that his days on top are arriving at an end, there
might be no type of pornoВgraphy more fulfilling than watching a bundle of hard
drinking, bar singing soccer fans with thick brogues beat the damnation out of
each other. The scene is quite often the same: Singing men in red development
after singing men in blue. When they meet in the focal point of the edge, red
pushes blue, fingers are pointed and after that, unavoidably, a green brew bottle
flies over the screen and blasts on red s head. The lines of singing men breakdown
into a squirming, punching mass and when the police jog up, normally dressed to
the grip in uproar gear, both red and blue have gone dashing ceaselessly,
abandoning a couple sitting on the ground in a grisly trance. The host city and as a
rule the city s blacks and Muslims pay the cost for the following frenzy. In June,
Russian and English law breakers battled in Marseille, France, before an opening
round match of the Euro 2016 titles. A gathering of English fans stood up to a
portion of the city s Muslim nationals, droning, ISIS, where are you? In February of
a year ago, when the Champions League match amongst Chelsea and Paris Saint
Germain was held in Paris, Chelsea supporters pushed a dark man off the Metro and
droned: We re supremacist! We re supremacist! Also, that is the way we like it! There

Key Elements Of A Strong Relationship Analysis
Communication, coping ability, and loyalty are all very important elements that a
strong relationship should consist of. In the last four years my cousin and I thought
we had mastered those elements. On May 12, 2016, the day before my graduation,
we were proven wrong. That afternoon, we got Into an intense debate that caused our
relationship to change drastically. The bond that we had was supposed to be
unbreakable. No one would ve ever thought that something as simple as her not being
able to get a ticket to my graduation would ve torn us apart.
The main factor that caused our relationship to go astray was communication. Instead
of talking face to face with each other, we communicated through text messaging.
By doing this it made us say things that we wouldn t normally say to one another in
person. It gave us this false sense of power that we abused with harsh word to bring
the other down. We weren t able to listen and actually analyze what the other person
was saying or feeling without being interrupted with the rapid fire of text messages.
In order to have stopped this from occurring. We should have arranged a time and
place where we could ve sat down and talked face to face about the situation. ... Show

Every message that was sent the other person viewed it as a dagger to the heart,
instead of trying to find the positive side in the situation. We decided to grow apart
rather than admitting our faults and learning from them to build a better
relationship for the future. For example, when we would encounter each other, we
acted as if the other person was invisible. Then, there was this one time we
unexpectedly ended up at my grandmother s house, and to avoid being in the living
room with her. I went in the bedroom and locked the door. To end the childish like
acts that we had started to use against one another. We could have added a third party
to help such as a friend or extended

The Buddha s Discourse on the Scripture of the Spell for Saving the Burning Mouth
Hungry Ghost is one of the three key texts in the development of Buddhist
performances held during the Ghost Festival of the seventh month of the Chinese
lunar calendar. This celebration is moulded by a Buddhist practice and is consider
the second most important festival of the year for the Chinese people. The Chinese
people have practiced this tradition since the Liang Dynasty but since then it has
developed into the existing Zhongyuan Festival. This celebration began with a story
that will be explained below, this event become so special because it helped Chinese
people escape their suffering and hungry that they would experience after they die by
doing certain practice and chants to satisfy the hungry ghost.
This story starts off during the World Honored One when Ananda was alone at the
Banyan Monastery located in Kapilavasttu. When Ananda was sitting their examining

which Charles Orzech describes to be like shown as his mouth burning and his throat
looking like a needle, the ghost hair was seen as chaotic, while having nails and teeth

Piperine In Osteoarthritis Chondrocyte
What is Piperine?
Turns out arthritis busting piperine has been lurking right under our noses all along!
Quietly sitting alongside us at the dinner table, in the form of black pepper, this
nutrient boosting powerhouse is an awesome table companion and should be added
to every meal. Especially when eating dished containing curcumin.
Why is piperine so powerful
Piperine is a white crystalline alkaloid and the chief active constituent of black pepper
. This enigmatic compound, first discovered in 1819, is responsible for black peppers
pungent odour and distinctive taste.
The power doesn t with a flavorsome kick, oh no! Recently, scientist discovered that

The study titled, Piperine inhibits IL ОІ induced expression of inflammatory
mediators in human osteoarthritis chondrocyte ,was the first to show the anti
inflammatory activity of piperine in OA chondrocytes.
The 2013 study found that piperine inhibited the production of PGE2 and NO
induced by IL 1ОІ. Piperine significantly decreased the IL 1ОІ stimulated gene
expression and production of MMP 3, MMP 13, iNOS and COX 2 in human OA
chondrocytes .
The study went on to claim that Piperine inhibited the IL 1ОІ mediated activation of
NF ОєB by suppressing the degradation of its inhibitory protein IОєBО±.
Effectively abrogating the IL 1ОІ induced over expression of inflammatory mediators.
What does all that mean? Put simply it means that piperine has been shown to stop
many of the inflammatory pre cursors to inflammation in OA chodrocytes and the
processes that contribute to the inflammatory cascade.
Historical uses
The ancients knew black pepper as a powerful natural medicine. it is even written
that Mohammed was quoted as saying black pepper could cure all illnesses except for
Sequence Analysis Sunset Blvd. Essay
In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window the sequence being analyzed begins at 100:31
and it ends at 102:13, putting in consideration the mise en scene, cinematography,
editing, and sound. A quick overview of the sequence: L.B Jefferies is confined to
a wheelchair due to an accident, is looking out the window to his neighbor s
apartment across the courtyard. He suspects that the neighbor has committed
murder. Jefferies s girlfriend Lisa Fremont manages to get in the accused apartment
in search of the wife s wedding ring, to prove that Lars Thorwald indeed murdered
his wife. Lisa is cornered in the apartment by Thorwald and tries to persuade him so
that she can go on her merry way. Thorwald begins to manhandle her and she screams

As the sequence begins to escalate, shifting from Jeff s dimly lit apartment to
Thorwald s brightly lit and later pitch dark apartment, it as if each shot after shot,
films the audience s reaction to what is going on in the scene. Jeff being the audience
his emotions are then felt by the true audience who would feel anxious as well.
The sequence shows a mixture of close up shots, long shots and angled shots. It
begins with a close up of Jeff showing his reaction. It cuts to a long shot of Thorwald
s apartment. The camera is at a level and height as if looking out from Jeff s
apartment. The camera has little movement at the beginning of the scene.
In the, Extreme long shots it is unrestricted to Thorwald since he does not know
who is ever at the door. When the police arrives and rings the doorbell, only Jeff
and Stella knows that they are there. When it becomes known to Thorwald after
opening the door, his face is filled with guilt as Jeff looks at him with his telephoto
lens. Thorwald is nervous and looks back at Lisa, who manages to compose herself.
However, the audience only sees what Jeff sees.
The last shot in the sequence at the point 102:02(shot 24), Joe is looking through the
telephoto lens while Stella looks through a pair of binoculars. An iris forms again
showing Joe s subjective view. Lisa and Thorwald are talking to the police officers.

Difference Between Inuit Hada And Iroquois
What s the difference
By:Yesenia Torres Flores
How are the Inuit,Haida, and iroquois different and what do they have alike?
Well they re not that different they eat the same thing, but another this is their art is
very different they have different styles, but they do have something in common. I
will talk about the difference of the Inuit, Haida, and the Iroquois. I will also be
talking about the things they have in common. The first thing, that they have in
common is that they all live in Canada. The Inuits live in the Northern Canada, the
Haida lives in Queen Charlotte island, and last but not least we have the Iroquois
which lives in the South of Great Lakes. Which all these are in Canada, but the South
of Great Lakes is in the middle of Canada and England. I know this from the website

type of style. Speaking of style they also have different types of housing. Like us
they have different types of
The United States And South Vietnam Achieved During
The...
The tactical victory that the United States and South Vietnam achieved during the Tet
Offensive turned into a defeat because of how the media in America covered the
events of the Tet Offensive. While, surprised during the early stages of the Tet
Offensive the United States and South Vietnamese forces were able to regroup
quickly and force the North Vietnamese back from the positions and cities that they
had taken like Hue (Herring, 239). In the aftermath of the Tet Offensive, much of the
news report was left in disbelief and confusion on what had happened. Such reports
that displayed news of North Vietnamese forces breaking into the embassy in Saigon
and televised broadcasts of the heavy fighting taking placed left the public with a
question of whether the United States was winning the war in Vietnam(Herring, 240
241). Such reports and photos of the fighting caused the Homefront in America to
question Johnson and Westmorland s tactics in Vietnam. Photos like the South
Vietnamese police officer s execution of the North Vietnamese stirred these opinions
and questions leading the public to ask if the war in Vietnam was worth fighting and
conclude that violence now held its place over the law (Herring, 241). After Tet, the
American public began to question the progress of the war in Vietnam and an end
was in sight. These questions were first roused and brought to the public s attention
by Walter Cronkite, who identified the war as a stalemate (Appy, 176). Such opinions

Endocrine Control Group Report
We hypothesized that group 1 would have a high UPR, in comparison to the control
group. This hypothesis was supported because there was a positive correlation
between the consumption of larger volumes of less concentrated liquids and
increases in UPR (Figure 1). We also hypothesized that group one would have a
lower NaCl concentrationin their urine samples, and this was supported by our data
which showed a negative correlation between high volumes of pure water
consumption and NaCl concentration of the urine (Figure 3). We hypothesized that
group 2 would have an increased UPR in comparison to the control group, which was
supported by the data due to the aforementioned positive correlation between volume
intake and UPR (Figure 1). Also, we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Cello Informative Speech
Have you ever broken something? Maybe an object went flying towards a house
and ended up shattering a window. Maybe a lamp fell over and broke. Or maybe
something just slid off the table and became damaged.
That s what happened at the Spanish Palace in Madrid, where a Stradivarius cello
slid off the table during a photo shoot. The Stradivarius had decided to be auctioned
off at a sale soon after, for the price of 20 million dollars. Experts were handing the
Stradivarius, but no one foretold this tragedy. Out of approximately fifty cellos made
by Stradivari that exist today, this cello happened to be incredibly rare. And that cello
that they dropped....it s now Baroque. In any case, the unfortunate soul who dropped
it is in serious treble.
At 450 years old, the cello can claim to still retain its post as a beautiful sounding
instrument, and according to the Washington Post, the cello is the closest existing
instrument that produces sound most similar to the human voice range. But that s
just one of many interesting truths about the cello.
Purpose Statement
I am pleased to be here today to inform you about the origin and development of the
acoustic cello, different types of cello worldwide, and the development of the electric
cello.
The cello began its long life in the sixteenth century. Born to Andrea Amati of Italy,
the cello and its people were in tune. The cello started out as an instrument with five
strings, instead of the four it has today. As well, it was

Situational Leadership Essay. The Concept of Situational Leadership - 548 Words Essay Example

  • 1. Situational Leadership Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of situational leadership is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature of the topic, which requires a comprehensive understanding of leadership theories and the ability to apply them to diverse scenarios. Situational leadership involves assessing different situations and adapting one's leadership style accordingly, making the task of articulating the nuances and complexities of this approach quite intricate. To compose an effective situational leadership essay, one must delve into various leadership models, such as the Hersey-Blanchard model or the Path-Goal theory, and analyze their relevance in different contexts. This demands a keen analytical mind to evaluate the dynamic nature of leadership, considering factors like the maturity of the followers, the task at hand, and the broader organizational culture. Moreover, effective communication is crucial in elucidating how leaders should navigate various situations. Expressing these concepts coherently requires a nuanced vocabulary and a strong grasp of the underlying principles. The essay should not only define situational leadership but also illustrate its real-world applications through case studies and examples. Furthermore, the challenge extends to balancing theory with practical insights. Drawing connections between theoretical frameworks and real-world scenarios demands a thoughtful synthesis of information. The ability to present a compelling argument while maintaining clarity and coherence adds another layer of complexity to the task. In conclusion, tackling a situational leadership essay necessitates a deep understanding of leadership theories, effective communication skills, analytical prowess, and the ability to bridge the gap between theory and practice. While it may be a formidable task, the opportunity to explore and dissect the intricacies of leadership in varying contexts is undeniably enriching. • 2. When Cells Malfunction Case Study The Case Study: When Cells Malfunction discusses Mary and Kevin s four month old child. Mary noticed that the newborn seemed to become weaker as time progressed. It was when her child was having trouble ingesting formula when the couple took their baby to the research hospital. This is where they learned that their child showed symptoms of Tay Sachs disease. The researchers at the facility indicated that descendants of Eastern Europe were more prone to have this disease. The doctors explained that this was a very rare disorder which causes the lysosome of the cell to malfunction. • 3. Southwest Airlines And The State Of Texas Back in March of 1967, Southwest Airlines was first founded under a different name, Air Southwest Company, by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher . With his own funds of $500 thousand, Kelleher filed an application with the Texas Aeronautics Commission for the right to fly commercial airplanes in the state of Texas. In February 20th of 1968, the Texas Aeronautics Commission voted unanimously, granting Air Southwest a certificate of public convenience and necessity. The following day, Braniff, Trans Texas (later known as Texas International), and Continental Airlines obtained a restraining order from Travis County District, prohibiting the certificate to be delivered to Air Southwest Company . Air Southwest Company tried to file appeal with the Austin State District Court and the Third Court of Civil Appeals. Both courts ruled against Air Southwest, forcing Herb Kelleher to appeal with the Texas Supreme Court. The Texas Supreme Court unanimously voted to overturn the lower court s decisions and ruled in favor of Air Southwest . In December of 1970, the United States Supreme Court denied the appeal by Braniff and Texas International to remove Air Southwest certification . In 1983, Winifred Barnum, a children s author and illustrator, wrote a children s book based on Southwest s legal fight called Gumwrappers and Goggle. In Jan 1st of 1971, Lamar Muse joined Air Southwest as the President. In March of 1971, Lamar Muse raised $1.25 million for the company by selling promissory
  • 4. Pro Mammatrix Research Paper As some of you may or may not know, I used to be a Pro Dominatrix. The list of fetishes or kinks I catered to in my past was a mile wide. Id like to touch on one in particular that I used to do called Sissyfication. In other words, I would take men. dress them up as women, make them imitate women and feminize them. For some, these actions I used to force upon them was an ultimate form of humiliation. To srip them of their naatural manhood, and to subject them to imitate a woman was so unnatural to them. Now I understand why many was so uncomfortable to this aspect of kink. It was due to the fact that I was forcing them to be molding into something God had not created them to be. Throught the years I discovered the many different facets of feminization. I had an uncanny ability to push men, their boundaries and their limits because I had sixth sense of the things they hide deep into their souls.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recall that that stunt in particular caused an uproar with some folks...but I was apathetic to it. I was proud. I was boastful. I was sinful and I marveled in the notoriety that particular action gave me. Over time I met a plethora of men who would confess to me that they were crossdressers in secret, and they wore their wife s clothes, makeup and so forth when they weren t around. I cant tell you how many men I met out there who was into crossdressing. So when I see a man like Bruce Jenner who is now professing to be transgendered, I call baloney on
  • 5. General Strain Theory Of Jerome Kerviel Jerome Kerviel is a criminal there is no denying that, he admitted to every crime he was charged with, but what would have caused such a prominent businessman to go from a rising star within the banking business to rogue trader? What structural issues may have helped or even encouraged Kerviel to commit these crimes? Why would Kerviel risk everything he had worked for? To answer questions like this I had to think about them as unique situations that led Kerviel to becoming the rogue trader. I believe that using theoretical theories such as, strain theory, differential association and rational choice will help better understand Kerviel s decision to go from rising star to convicted felon. General Strain Theory General strain theory shifts attention away from economic status to a social psychological syndrome of experiencing negative emotions arising from strains or negative dimensions in one s environment (Friedrichs 2010). In other words, strain theory is simply having a goal but lacking the method of achieving said goal. Thus, the person becomes innovative in creating a method which allows them achieve their goal, usually thru illegal means, as in Kerviel s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term Rational Choice addresses two related aspects of a deeper intellectual provocation in sociology. The term choice implies understanding social phenomena as result of individual action, and that every action is seen as a choice, in a counterfactual view, in light of its possible alternatives. Describing these choices as rational implies deducing them from actor characteristics other than the action itself (Scholtz 2015). However, for the context of this study rational choice is defined as strategically planning to commit a crime by going over the pros and cons and comparing those to the risk rewards of committing the
  • 6. Theme Of Pride In The Stone Angel Pride In Margaret Laurence s powerful novel The Stone Angel the theme pride often displayed through the characters. Each figure had their own way of showing this theme through both actions and words. The recurring theme is exhibited by the behaviors of Brampton Shipley, Hagar Shipley, and her father, Jason Currie. Hagar Shipley lived her life blind, with pride as her cane for guidance. There was many situations throughout the novel where she made decisions solely based off of her pride. The first example of this is when Hagar was just a little girl, scampering around in her father s store. When she made a comment while Jason was talking with Mrs.McVitie,a customer, he took a ruler to Hagar s hands. Despite the stinging pain, she wouldn t cry in front of her father. She held back the tears until her father couldn t see because that would show weakness and hurt her pride. Another example of Hagar s pride was when her son, Marvin, went to war. When he comes to say goodbye, Hagar states that I wanted all at once to hold him tightly, plead with him, against all reason and reality, not to go. As most mothers would do such a thing, Hagar s pride kicks in as she reconsiders her thinking, But I did not want to embarrass both of us, or have him think I d taken leave of my senses. This shows how engraved pride is carved into Hagar s head. Even though her son is going into war and may die, she can t even show him that she will worry about him. Another example that
  • 7. Tale of Two Airlines Essay Case Analysis Tale of Two Airlines in the Network Age By AKK This case analyses Prof. McPherson s service experience with respect to two Airline carriers, which was not expected in this age of Network and Information Technology and also the service level expectations from the customers. First we analyze the setting/situation, issues Prof. McPherson experienced and his assumptions; and then try to address them. The bottom line: addressing such situations would improve efficiency, customerloyalty, brand name and increased profits Situation: * Atlanta s Hartsfield Airport is ranked as one of the busiest international airports. * 3 6PM is one of the busiest times of the day in terms of airline traffic and the number of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The technology to communicate between the airlines is available and the customers do expect that the airlines share their passenger information for connecting flights. Flight to London left 7 minutes before departure time: Given the time and weather, the airline crew would have been under lot of stress and might be very eager to move on to their next task and also we need to consider operational expenses of a foreign airline. There are multiple issues here: 1. No communication between the two airlines regarding the flight delays and the connecting passengers (already discussed above). 2. The London based Airline could have verified their passenger list and should have identified Prof. McPherson as a Gold card member and a loyal customer and should have taken any one of these actions based on the situation: * Should have waited until the departure time. * Should have an agent at the gate until departure time and should have helped Prof. McPherson with alternative arrangements, if he was late. London based airlines should be able to access their central database from any place in the world and should have been able to identify their patrons. Positive note,

Though their theories differ, they have had a great impact on our discernment of the human mind and their influences have led to the successful development of the wide range of human distress (Bluhm, 2006). Freud s point of view of the entire human psyche was from a sexual perspective; his theory assumed that the human mind had three basic components: the id (instincts), the ego (reality) and the superego (morality). The components were often conflicting and they usually shaped the personality. His theory is also denoted to as psychoanalytic theory of development since Sigmund Freud is the father of psychoanalytic psychology. On the other hand, Jung developed his theory based on the belief that human psyche has undeniable religious nature. He theorized that people should be taught to consolidate the conscious mind and the unconscious with a process he termed individuation, for them to become whole. Jung had a wide knowledge of religion, mythology, and philosophy, and in particular the symbolism connected to the

Modern Technology And Science Rule ords Since the 18th and 19th century the world has spiralled into an ever changing and fast paced place where the possibilities are endless and technology and science rule. There was the introduction of machines, modern technology and science which gave the world incredible inventions such as the motorcar, aeroplane, the radio and electricity. These are the things that bought civilisation into modernity, it changed not only how people used the world but how they saw the world and envisaged the future. As times changes, architects gracefully chose to or were forced to adapt to the needs and conditions of their present world which were created by this Modernity. Some of these conditions which will be analysed are; the way in which society started to reject traditions and believe in the present and future, the initial reactions of scepticism towards the development of technology and imagination becoming important as people s views on the world started to shift. The early 19th century was a tumultuous time for civilians and young soldiers alike living in Germany, with unthinkable losses in the war and an uncertain political future, this time of uneasy life with hopes for a better future created widespread despair and wild hopes through the country (Gay 2008, p315). This along with the constantly rising trends of modernity and the worlds need to make it new, an ever growing list of modern men throughout Europe strove to make a difference, one of these men was Walter Gropius. • 11. Victor Hugo Research Paper In the 1800s, Victor Hugo, a French author, wrote the book The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which centred on the character Quasimodo. Quasimodo is considered ugly and monstrous, with a hunchback and a wart that covers his eyes. He is also deaf. But why should his handicap matter? In the novel, Hugo uses his disability as a tool to make him more pitiable despite his uncomfortable actions. The same disability can be found in many other classic novels, such as Moby Dick, by the American writer Herman Melville, or Carson McCullers s work in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. In fact, deafness is to be seen as a symbol of innocence and pureness in the literary world. He believes that this can be achieved for each individual through the embracement of virtues. Aristotle believes that virtues are the mean of two vices. This is the basis of the Aristotelian Doctrine of the Mean . This paper will explore the basis of the Doctrine of the Mean, its connections to Eudaimonia, and its success or lack thereof. Eudaimonia is a Greek word whose meaning can be translated several ways. These include happiness, the success of life s activities, prosperity, and the act of the thriving. (Nicomachean Ethics, Bk 1, Ch. 8, p. 96) More importantly, Aristotle ties satisfaction to Eudaimonia. Satisfaction is seen by Aristotle as a vital step to achieving Eudaimonia. Eudaimonia is one of the key concepts to Aristotelian philosophy because Aristotle holds it to be one of the most important goals for humanity or as it is sometimes referred to, the telos of human conduct. Where there are ends apart from the actions, it is the nature of the products to be better than the activities. (Nicomachean Ethics, Bk I, Ch. I, p. 89) Arete is the Greek term for virtue . Throughout the Nicomachean ethics, Aristotle uses it to mean a measure of how well something fulfills its intended use (or Ergon), specifically a high measure. This applies to both living creatures and objects. A ditch digger may be a bad ditch digger, an average ditch digger, a good ditch digger, or perhaps a truly excellent ditch digger. It is the purpose of the ditch digger to dig ditches, thus if he or she is truly excellent at digging ditches and exercises that skill, then they have Arete. A ditch digger who either does not have or does not exercise the skill to dig ditches excellently lacks Arete because they do not fulfill their Ergon well. virВ·tue (vГ»r ch ) n. 1.
  • 13. The Existence Of Miracles By David Hume When thinking about the claims that are made about the man on the tightrope there are several lenses one can focus on. Through these varying views, the man on the tightrope is being inspected, as well as his greater world and the fly that he sees disappear and reappear in front of him. This shows there is an extensive variation of facts to be examined for and against the case of miracles. Consequently, the authors included in the book, In Defense of Miracles, each considers different important details as the defining factors in the debate of the existence of miracles. Of those, some focus more heavily on the likelihood of miracles themselves such as Hume, others focus on the existence of Godsuch as Flew and Beck, and others focus on a particular example of a miracle such as Craig. Against Miracles: David Hume David Hume argues against miracles and states that they are improbable because most are reported by those who deceive others, the sensation of wonder that overrides the sense of reasoning, or because they are inapplicable to our scientific culture today. Hume addresses that in essentially all cases, the probability of a miracle truly happening, in comparison to any one of his listed reason, is highly improbable. He does not implicitly state why miracles cannot occur. In his first argument, Hume addresses the tendency of humans to deceive. In his view ...there is not to be found, in all history, any miracle attested by a sufficient number of men... (34). He believes

But Prospero lacks firsthand observation or concrete evidence about Sycorax; thus, Prospero constructs Sycorax as simply his opposite and tool. Because Prospero never knew Sycorax, his detailed descriptions of her can only be his own construction, which he manipulates for his benefit, specifically to legitimize his power. The more emphatically Prospero tries to demonize Sycorax s powers, the more he evokes her permeating presence. For any structure to be created and sustained, it is necessary to have an other on the opposite side thus, by damning Sycorax, Prospero does two things; a) solidifies Sycorax as the other or a competitor, and b) confirms the existence of a structure or ulterior motive in this case, patriarchal power. Thus, the implicit power struggle, which seems to be gendered, between Sycorax and Prospero is revealed. Although Sycorax is dead, Prospero s struggle to be the stronger power is an undercurrent throughout the play. There are some commonalities between their powers,

GD: Well Doug, I looked at the schedule earlier during the summer and I saw you were listed at JV head coach and it kind of took me by surprise. You were the varsity defensive coordinator for such a long time, what made you want to make the switch? DC: I m just thinking down the road. I know that Weatherby isn t going to be coaching forever. A good varsity program really depends on a strong JV program. Can you talk about the importance of building a strong foundation on the lower level, so that the varsity squad continues to get players who are ready to compete year after year. DC: (Jason) Weatherby has done a wonderful job and I just hope to go down to the JV level and keep that going. It boils down even to the Pop Warner level. That s something that as a JV coach, I want to incorporate even more. More communication and more networking with the Pop Warner team. Because the Pop Warner feeds the JV. The JV feeds the varsity. The more that we are on sync, the better the program is going to be overall. GD: You were associated with the varsity team for such a long time, so it must be difficult not coaching with guys you consider your friends and having them around all the time. DC: It s very weird. It s different. You see them on the field before we separate and I talk to them afterwards and there are a lot of phone calls going back and forth. But yeah, that s one of the hardest parts about going down. I ve been coaching with those guys for so long. We know each other s moves. We can read each other s minds and we are always on the same page. That s now what I m trying to get accomplished down below. GD: Now that you are coaching junior varsity, that changes the way your Friday s unfold. Before, you could relax during the JV game, maybe eat a tri tip sandwich, shoot the breeze with your

The first form, held by members of the educated elites were influenced by the histories of the popular governments in Greece and Rome, and were believed that republics could only succeed if they were small in size and the same size in population. A republic offered its citizens equality for opportunity in return for sacrifices. The plan provided for a two house legislature, where the lower house is elected directly by the people and the upper house selected by the lower house. Representation in both houses was proportional to property or population, en executive was selected by Congress, there was a national judiciary, and there were congressional vetoes over state laws. The Virginia Plan gave Congress the full power to legislate in all cases to which the separate states are incompetent. In other words, the Virginia plan allowed Congress the power to create laws where separate states lacked the qualification or ability to make laws. The New Jersey Plan came 2 weeks after the Virginia Plan, as many delegates of smaller states believed that the Virginia Plan went too far in the direction of national consolidation. Created by William Paterson of New Jersey and other delegates from small states, the New Jersey Plan called for strengthening the Articles of Confederation instead of completely rearranging the government. The New Jersey Plan proposed having a unicameral (one house/legislative) congress in which each state had an equal vote, but giving Congress new powers of taxation and trade regulation. The collection of import duties and a stamp tax, the regulation of trade and the enforcement of requisitions upon the states with military force were all part of the plan. Finally, the representatives of Connecticut came up with a compromise: a government with an upper house made up of equal numbers of delegates from each state and a lower house with proportional representation based upon population. This is significant because this idea formed the basis of the new U.S. Constitution, which became the law of the land in 1789, and which we still use

However, although this is the classical approach to Utilitarianism, this theory as be interpreted in numerous ways in this essay I will focus on three (Act, rule and preference utilitarianism). VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002) The reasoning in Atkins is applied to the Simmons decision. Kennedy argues that because individuals under 18 are categorically less culpable than the average criminal, they should not deserve the death penalty. Kennedy adds that there are three differences between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders. First, juveniles often lack the maturity found in adults, a trait that is understandable among the young and adolescents are overrepresented statistically in virtually every category of reckless behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) The second difference is, that they are more vulnerable to negative influences or outside pressures and this could lead to deviant behavior. (ROPER v. • 38. Ethical Issues Facing The Clinical Research Introduction There are many ethical concerns that arise when a company, or individual, stand to make a monetary gain by making a medical decision. In the clinical research, there have been concerns ranging from faking the number of patients enrolled in a study to fabricating study data and insider trading. These issues are what arise when money drives an industry that is supposed to be concerned with patient safety and scientific investigation. The conflicting interests of financial gain and the need for accurate and complete medical research are the overarching issues facing the clinical research industry. History of Clinical Research Clinical research trials can be traced as far back as biblical times, though in those days the researchers used legumes and lemons1. As medicine advanced, so did clinical research techniques. The first double blind controlled trial which occurred in 1943, was for a drug to treat the common cold. By 1946, the first randomized trial began for Streptomycin. It didn t take long for leading researchers to discover the need for regulatory framework1. The ethical framework that formed our healthcare delivery system is rooted in the Hippocratic Oath, which states that the prime duty of a physician is to avoid harming the patient. However, this oath has not been shown the same respect in the clinical research world1. The FDA, founded in 1862, was designed to be a scientific regulation institution that quickly became a law enforcement organization in

The 2013 study found that piperine inhibited the production of PGE2 and NO induced by IL 1ОІ. Piperine significantly decreased the IL 1ОІ stimulated gene expression and production of MMP 3, MMP 13, iNOS and COX 2 in human OA chondrocytes . The study went on to claim that Piperine inhibited the IL 1ОІ mediated activation of NF ОєB by suppressing the degradation of its inhibitory protein IОєBО±. Effectively abrogating the IL 1ОІ induced over expression of inflammatory mediators. What does all that mean? Put simply it means that piperine has been shown to stop many of the inflammatory pre cursors to inflammation in OA chodrocytes and the processes that contribute to the inflammatory cascade. • 51. The United States And South Vietnam Achieved During The... The tactical victory that the United States and South Vietnam achieved during the Tet Offensive turned into a defeat because of how the media in America covered the events of the Tet Offensive. While, surprised during the early stages of the Tet Offensive the United States and South Vietnamese forces were able to regroup quickly and force the North Vietnamese back from the positions and cities that they had taken like Hue (Herring, 239). In the aftermath of the Tet Offensive, much of the news report was left in disbelief and confusion on what had happened. Such reports that displayed news of North Vietnamese forces breaking into the embassy in Saigon and televised broadcasts of the heavy fighting taking placed left the public with a question of whether the United States was winning the war in Vietnam(Herring, 240 241). Such reports and photos of the fighting caused the Homefront in America to question Johnson and Westmorland s tactics in Vietnam. Photos like the South Vietnamese police officer s execution of the North Vietnamese stirred these opinions and questions leading the public to ask if the war in Vietnam was worth fighting and conclude that violence now held its place over the law (Herring, 241). After Tet, the American public began to question the progress of the war in Vietnam and an end was in sight. These questions were first roused and brought to the public s attention by Walter Cronkite, who identified the war as a stalemate (Appy, 176). Such opinions that

This hypothesis was supported because there was a positive correlation between the consumption of larger volumes of less concentrated liquids and increases in UPR (Figure 1). We also hypothesized that group one would have a lower NaCl concentrationin their urine samples, and this was supported by our data which showed a negative correlation between high volumes of pure water consumption and NaCl concentration of the urine (Figure 3). We hypothesized that group 2 would have an increased UPR in comparison to the control group, which was supported by the data due to the aforementioned positive correlation between volume intake and UPR (Figure 1). • 54. The Cello Informative Speech Have you ever broken something? Maybe an object went flying towards a house and ended up shattering a window. Maybe a lamp fell over and broke. Or maybe something just slid off the table and became damaged. That s what happened at the Spanish Palace in Madrid, where a Stradivarius cello slid off the table during a photo shoot. The Stradivarius had decided to be auctioned off at a sale soon after, for the price of 20 million dollars. Experts were handing the Stradivarius, but no one foretold this tragedy. Out of approximately fifty cellos made by Stradivari that exist today, this cello happened to be incredibly rare. And that cello that they dropped....it s now Baroque. In any case, the unfortunate soul who dropped it is in serious treble. At 450 years old, the cello can claim to still retain its post as a beautiful sounding instrument, and according to the Washington Post, the cello is the closest existing instrument that produces sound most similar to the human voice range. But that s just one of many interesting truths about the cello. Purpose Statement I am pleased to be here today to inform you about the origin and development of the acoustic cello, different types of cello worldwide, and the development of the electric cello. The cello began its long life in the sixteenth century. Born to Andrea Amati of Italy, the cello and its people were in tune. The cello started out as an instrument with five strings, instead of the four it has today. As well, it was
