For decades, I have been obsessed with Batman. There I said it! In the 60 s I watched everyday, at
the same Bat time on the same Bat channel the Caped Crusader [Adam West] give The Joker and
other villains their due justice.

Well, we all have a deep desire to break free of our limits and live a bold and meaningful life.
Heroes have the ability to rise above their fears and limitations to achieve something inconceivable,
something exceptional, something bold! Count me. That s what I want on my tombstone. She was
exceptional, animated, fearless and bold until the day she died.
Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man ... and all the other beloved heroes embody the best we
see in ourselves. They inspire us. They each have a human side that struggles with the same day to
day obstacles and events we struggle with. From work to love. We watch those events unfold and
we see them cope, fail and win as a human.
Then [drum roll] out of the blue, or as scripted by the writer, an emergency strikes, and they step
up. Even stepping up as a superhuman we watch as they attempt to tackle the problem. Many times,
if not always, failing on their first attempt. What makes them a Superhero, more then even their
superpowers, is their ability to believe in themselves, and continue to fight the fight. Face their fear,
and overcome their battles.
This is something any one of us can learn to do. And must learn to do to if we plan on achieving

The Hungry Tide Analysis
Nature in The Hungry Tide Nature and literature have constantly shared an intimate relationship as
demonstrated in the creations of artists and writers across generations in all societies of the world.
The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh is a novel about individuals of his Motherland and the nation
itself, beautiful, different, and mythical India. The writer exemplifies brilliant nature, individuals,
customs and even issues with tremendous love and respect. The ecological issues turn out to be
increasingly apparent, while the specialists do their best to overlook them. It is not only the
legislature at blame, but the citizens as well. The primary reason is obliviousness. The Hungry Tide,
develops nature by utilizing interlacing legends, experience, myths and history to uncover human
association with the non human world. It likewise makes an endeavor to discover his cognizant
engagement with the regular world that attracts our thinking to the tragedy of the global
environment. The novel manufactures a noticeable worry about the survival of a balanced
environment like the sundarbansand it also records The situation of the misplaced refugees in their
bountiful surroundings to guarantee their survival. The Hungry Tide steps into the environmental
conflict with a plea for moderation. The Hungry Tide pleas for the acknowledgement and
understanding of the predicament of the poor by environmentalists and of animals and nature by
human rights groups. Ghosh accomplishes this by utilizing

Iago Is The Protagonist In Othello
William Shakespeare s Othello is a remarkable tale of trust, deceitfulness, lust and the most
destructive of human emotions: vengeance and hatred. Iago better known as Othello s antagonist
embodies vengeance and hatred to move an agenda to squash all who oppose Iago s plans. As
defined by Merrium Webster the definition of a protagonist is a principal character in a literary
work or a leading actor, character, or participant in a literary work. Othelloby Shakespeare is a play
about Othello an example of a tragic hero with all figures centered around Othello as the
protagonist yet, Othello has two main leading characters. Iagoand Othello have stark contrasts as

As a masterful leading machiavellian character Iago exploits the flaw all characters poses in
Othello which is faith versus doubt in others. A powerful role to mold an entire play behind the
goal of a singular entity under the eyes of a scholar qualifies as a protagonist( Hull). Iago breaks
the boundaries that define antagonist or protagonist by being complex enough and having
enough lines that place him on par if not above Othello (West 42 ). The main flaw in the
protagonist argument is how Iago is a static character without any clear transformation. Evidence
from his lack of change exist in act one and to the final act is continuously lying and trying to
create chaos. Antagonist or protagonist Iago s actions qualify as morally wrong when usually a
protagonist that drives the plot is working for good; however, by definition a protagonist is not
inertly of good moral code. ( Hull) Iago has an interesting set of flaws and advantages showing
characteristics of a psychopath. Without flaws Iago would lose his humane characteristics and
potentially lose the audiences interest ( West 13). Iago has no positive moral compass and an
unexplained desire to destroy friend or foe even after the fact that Othello murders Desdemona
qualifies the character as psychotic. Iago even recognizes his planning of evil actions to ruin
Othello as simply a game Let us be conjunctive against him. If thou canst cuckold him, thou dost
thyself a pleasure, me a sport. (Act 1 Scene

Efficiency improvement was primarily supported by inventory reduction efforts that, coupled with
increase in accounts payable derived from shifts in timing of payments, reduced the cash
conversion cycle to 43 days. It is worth noting that during fiscal 2012 the balance sheet had an
important growth as a result of the acquisition of the international Yoplait business, including
goodwill and other intangible assets of $2.3 bn USD. Sales growth also benefited from the
acquisition and will be discussed in the next section.
General Mills runs a leveraged operation where, in average, the total assets are 3 times shareholders
equity. Leverage ratio has decreased since 2010 as retained earnings have increased at a faster pace
than assets driven by strong business performance. A slight revamp in the leverage ratio during
fiscal 2012 was mainly driven by an increase in other comprehensive losses related to pensions and
postemployment activity, and foreign currency translation that offset retained earnings for the same
period.
Sustainable growth while generating strong levels of cash flows
General Mills has shown a strong, sustainable growth throughout the last years.
Net sales increase has been driven by a moderate average growth in the US Retail segment (3.8%),
coupled with the expansion in the International business (13.4%). The big year on year increase of

Explain The Steps Involved In A 4x100m Relay
The various aspects when considering movement skill development include body control and
awareness, technique, timing, anticipation and object manipulation. Body control is the ability to
co ordinate movements with precisions and balance and co ordination are key. Whereas body
awareness refers to the awareness and how conscious an individual is when performing an action.
An element that can be claimed as the most important component involved in skill development is
technique; as it is the method used to perform a skill and perform it well. Furthermore, anticipation
is predicting what the impending actions will occur and timing is the way in which parts of a
particular movement flow together. And lastly, object manipulation is the concern of... Show more

Object manipulation is the ability to move and control an object used for the particular sport. At
the beginning of the race, especially if starting in blocks and in a crouch position, being able to
have a firm grip of the baton is essential and to maintain this grip until it is passed. Also, the ability
to maintain that strong grip and have successful baton changes is extremely important. Although, if
the baton is dropped at any time due to lack of object control, the team is not disqualified and can
retrieve the baton and continue running, unless it leaves their lane. Without object manipulation

Essay on The Rise of the Nazi Party
The Rise of the Nazi Party
Hitler s rise to power was the result of many factors, but Hitler s ability to take advantage of
Germany s poor leadership and economical and political conditions was the most significant factor.
His ability to manipulate the media and the German public whilst taking advantage of Germany s
poor leadership resulted in both the collapse of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Hitler and the
nazi party. During the early 1920s, Germany was struggling with economic instability and political
uncertainty. Germany, after being defeated in the Great War, was forced to sign the unforgiving
treaty of Versailles, which the Weimar Republic was held responsible for. This brought forward
feelings of fear, anger and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the hardship of the 1920s and1930s, political incompetence was highlighted, the Weimar
Government proved its incompetence time and time again. .The instability of the Weimar
Republic was so great that the average life span of Reich cabinets was from 6 7 months. Their
incapability of providing justice to outbreaks of violence, such as political assassinations is one
example of the incompetence of the Weimar Republic. When Germany found its self in
undesirable economical situations due to the Treaty of Versalles, they printed money to pay off
reparations, which resulted in super inflation. During the period of super inflation people s life
savings became worthless which contributed to the downward circle of a reduction in standard of
living. As unemployment rose and people began to afford less and less with their money, people
commenced searching for a better alternative to the Weimar Government. Hitler s ability to build
upon these feelings whilst offering security, prosperity and full employment, convinced Germany,
in a state of disillusionment, to support the nazi party. The Weimar s instability contributed to the
collapse of the Weimar republic provided perfect conditions for the nazi party to rise to power.
With incompetent leadership and an unhappy nation, the German people began to realize that their
country was in a vulnerable situation and began to look for stable alternatives to democracy. Hitler s

Summary Of The Novel Collapse By Jared Diamond
Collapse, a novel by Jared Diamond, discusses current and future problems on Earth to warn
readers of what is happening around them. Diamond goes into detail about specific societies, and
then analyzes its meaning in the final chapter. Using the title The World as a Polder, he
examines twelve major issues that are expected to worsen in the future. These issues include
deforestation, overfishing, loss of diversity of species, loss of soil, growth of the human
population, and the effect of more people. The limit on energy, freshwater, and sunlight is also
mentioned, as well as the challenges brought up by toxic chemicals, alien species, and
atmospheric gases. These environmental challenges are so hard to overcome because different
people do not want to spend money and time fixing the same dilemmas. A common belief is that
these problems are not going to matter anytime soon, so we have no reason to care. However, this
is incorrect. We need to act now in order to move past... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the theory that these disasters are not going to become a reality anytime soon is
putting a roadblock on this. Despite Diamond s research, society pictures a year such as 2037 to
be unreal. Diamond himself pictured it this way, but suddenly realized, It s not an imaginary
year! (523). Along with this statement, Diamond says, ...rises in living standards in Third World
countries whose inhabitants see and covet First World lifestyles; and immigration, both legal and
illegal, of individual Third World inhabitants into the First World, driven by political, economic,
and social problems at home (505). This poses a problem to the current First World citizens,
because it can lower their living standards as well as creating a larger carbon footprint, less food
and water, and more crowded cities. The only way to solve this is with a long term solution, which
costs much more than a short term

Reflection On My Social Life In A Social Class
In the past two lectures, we discussed people and their social standings. The discussion made me
reflect on my current living situation and consider to what social class I belong. I am a college
student, obviously, but am fortunate enough to live rent free in a beautiful home where I have
the entire upstairs to myself. I am in a stable relationship with my girlfriend of over two years, I
drive a nice car that is paid for, and I have a solid job that I have had since the age of 16. I feel, by
definition, this places me firmly in the middle class. I live with my mother and two sisters. My
father lives in another state. While he does help by sending child support, my portion dropped
off when I turned 18. This has made our entire family more financially aware of everything and
we have had to adjust our lifestyle in many areas. Being in college, I am not able to work as
many hours as I would like which would give me more money in my pocket. My mother has
gone back to school to further her education so she can get a better job and more money for our
household as well. Taking this into consideration, I may actually be closer to the low end of
middle class and one bad decision away from being kicked out of my house and into instant
poverty status. Just kidding, my mom would never kick me out! Although class isn t everything, it
is, unfortunately, a perception based solely on appearance that separates individuals from each
other and places them in groups . People are

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Every four years, the United States citizens elect a new president. The election is held in
November, but campaigning starts almost a whole year before the election month. Candidates
compete on a daily basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this
election on the horizon, voters need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what
their main objects will be once they arrive in office.
In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of
organizations, the democratic party remains as the world s oldest political party. It was first
founded in the year 1828 by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Jeffersonian Republican or

They consisted of former Whig party supporters, abolitionists, and people who believed in the
modernizing of the country. Their basic belief followed the ways of conservatism. Conservatism
means that people believed in the rule of anti communism, and also believed that the American
traditions are the way the government should be ran along with Protestant values. Each party is
represented by an animal and also a color; red elephants for republicans and blue donkeys for
democrats.
When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was
heading in the wrong direction, but after current president Barack Obama was elected into
office, he managed to sign many bills into effect which in turn helped bring our economy back
up. Illegal immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of
illegal immigrants flowing into the country is approximately seven hundred thousand each year.
Personally, I believe that this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law
about illegal aliens and how they must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live
in this country as an immigrant. These people of course are not considered citizens because they
were not born in America, which is primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I
also believe that the military and our veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been
involved in

Cellular Technology Has Developed A Long Way From Its...
Chapter 1
Introduction
The cellular technology has developed a long way from its existence in the early 1980 s. In the
past few decades it has grown into one of the biggest market with the rise of cell phone users, the
cellular network providers and cell phone makers have grown in immense amount. Cellular
technologies have evolved from first generation (1G), second generation (2G), third generation (3G)
and to its current technology which is fourth generation (4G) which is also known as Long Term
Evolution (LTE). Fig 1.1 Evolution of Cellular technology
The first generation (1G) only provided users with voice communication in its second generation
(2G) the service was expanded to voice and data communication in which the system capacity was
also improved. Second generation or 2G wireless technology is also known as Global Systems for
Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). The third
generation (3G) was a revolution in the cellular technology the data rates increased immensely
from 2G, 3G is also known as Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) and CDMA 2000. The current
cellular technology that are in existence is fourth generation (4G) also known as Long Term

Crime And Punishment Analysis
Bram Stoker in his novel Dracula claims that no one but a woman can help a man when he is in
trouble of the heart. In Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, the women are more
important and far more interesting than their male counterparts. From Dounia, Pulcheria, Katerina,
and Sonia, the female characters have more impact on the outcome of the novel than the main
characterRodya Raskolnikov has. In fact, one of Rodya s major reasons for committing the murder
is to stop his sister Dounia from having to sell herself to a man to help support the destitute Rodya.
Without his sister Dounia, there is the distinct possibility that Raskolnikov might never have been

She has one of the greatest influences on the novel due to her position as a mother. She is the

no true backbone to deal with obatacles with well adjusted plans that do not hurt anyone. She
made him believe from a young age that he was extraordinary, so, it is due to her that he feels
the need to test whether or not he is truly extraordinary or just regular. She is also a big part of
the reason why Raskolnikov is split between confessing and staying quiet. He does not want to

also serves as a foil to her son. In her letter to Raskolnikov, she mentions the word love more

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nootropics
Attention Deficit Disorder is diagnosed two ways: with or without hyperactivity. The inclusion
of hyperactivity is what makes the difference between a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. With
children between the ages of 6 and 12 being the most commonly diagnosed ages, it has also been
known to continue as they get older. With school aged children being affected the most, it can
become severely difficult for the student and teacher to work out a solution. Sure, the children can
be given the commonly prescribed medications, but they don t get excluded from possible
dependency or addiction. When it comes to prescribing medications for ADHD, physicians are
more apt to stick to the type that they know will work and these are Adderall and Ritalin.
Although these two drugs work for ADHD, many people today are starting to explore options that
involve the use of alternatives that pose no adverse reactions or long term effects. To help assist the
many people affected by this disorder who want a safer alternative, we will explore the many
benefits that can be obtained by using nootropics. Among the many alternatives, the best types

Boeing vs Airbus
The commercial airplane manufacturing industry is dominated by two large players, Boeing and
Airbus. They operate in a very competitive environment and the strategies of one strongly impact
the business of the other.
For almost 40 years, the Boeing 747 or Jumbo Jet, the largest airplane in the world, has enjoyed a
monopoly and has brought in large profits for Boeing. Roughly 10 years ago, Airbus decided to look
into to the possibility of manufacturing an even larger and more efficient plane.

It also has a lower cabin noise and the effects of jetlag than the Boeing 747.
At 555 passengers, the A380 s seating capacity represents a 35% increase over the 747 400 in a
standard three class configuration, along with a 50% larger cabin volume producing more space
per passenger. If, however, the plane is ordered in an all economy class configuration, it can hold
up to 853 passengers; its maximum certified carrying capacity.
Airport compatibility
The A380 was designed to fit within an 80 x 80 m airport gate[33], and can land or take off on
any runway that can take a Boeing 747. However, airports used by the A380 in commercial
service may need infrastructure modifications. Its large wingspan can require some taxiway and
apron reconfigurations, to maintain safe separation margins when two of the aircraft pass each
other. Taxiway shoulders may be required to be paved to reduce the likelihood of foreign object
damage caused to (or by) the outboard engines, which overhang more than 25 m (80 ft) from the
centre line of the aircraft. Any taxiway or runway bridge must be capable of supporting the A380
s maximum weight. The terminal gate must be sized such that the A380 s wings do not block
adjacent gates, and may also provide multiple jetway bridges for simultaneous boarding on both
decks. Service vehicles with lifts capable of reaching the upper deck must be obtained, as well as

Reasonable Expectation
Case law up to this point has not been determinative as to when a reasonable expectation of
privacy would exist in regards to text messages. Courts across Canada have been inconsistent in
their decisions on this issue, in some instances by directly claiming the approach taken in other
jurisdictions was blatantly incorrect. Accordingly, when making a claim to a reasonable

Marxist Lenss In The Canterbury Tales And The Reeve s Tale
The triumph of Rocky Balboa over Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, the defeat of the Soviet Union by the
United States in the 1980 Olympic Ice Hockey Semi Final, and the Tortoise s victory in The
Tortoise and the Hare are a few of the many greatest underdog stories in history. Throughout history,
underdogs have proven time and time again that they should not be underestimated. Many people
like to view certain instances through the Marxist lens, which is when they see certain situations as
an underdog versus the favorite. These situations can either be viewed through a positive lens,
which means that the underdog bests the favorite, or in the negative lens, which means that the
favorite remains above the underdog. The Marxist lens can be applied... Show more content on

The Shipman s Tale exhibited a positive viewpoint through the Marxist lens, but it is not the only
instance of a positive viewpoint in The Canterbury Tales. In addition to The Shipman s Tale, The
Reeve s Tale, of The CanterburyTales, through the Marxist lens displays a positive perspective
when the miller is defeated by the students. The favorite in this scenario is the miller, Simpkin
the Swagger, and the underdogs are the students, John and Alan, because the miller is attempting
to steal some of the student s flour as he does with all his clients. The Reeve, or the orator of the
story, describes the actions of Simpkin, He was a thief as well of corn and meal, And sly at that;
his habit was to steal (Chaucer, 2003, p. 109). The students were no exception to these immoral
actions and the students were not happy about that. The manner in which they eclipse the miller
is by conspiring to escape with all of their flour and hold retribution for the miller. The Reeve
describes the resolution, And thus the bumptious miller was well beaten And done out of the
supper they had eaten, And done out of the money that was due For grinding Alan s corn, who
beat him too (Chaucer, 2003, p. 118). Through the Marxist point of view this resolution is
perceived in a positive manner, because the miller is beaten up, stolen from, and reprimanded for
his immoral actions by John and Alan. The Reeve s Tale in The Canterbury Tales

Kmart Corporation And Its Impact On The Retail Market
The name Kmart Corporation was first known as Kmart Discount Stores. One of the first stores
was opened in Garden City, MI. This company was well known for great in pocket discounts for
consumers. This was the true five and dime retailer. It was also the template for other retailers such
as Walmart.
The road from the original model to the current operation is long and broad. Kmart stores represent
a dynamic example of growth and change, evolving and expanding into several retail market areas.
They have gone through transformations from the original five and dime ideology, to discount

The shoe and clothing industry, although not foreseen directly, there are seasonal highs and lows
that come with the business. These are reflected, as such for example with the holidays. Products
must be available, in stock, in order to be presented as saleable items to the customer. This is also
overhead. Depending on the state of the economy, it can very well require sums of money being
tied up in overhead, that could possibly lead to loss should the economy be in a downturn.
I believe, that should Kmart focus on returning to its original company development, it can regain
its market share. The original five and dime philosophy worked. A successful approach that, at one
time may have become somewhat outdated, but the greatest growth and expansion has in fact
happened with the furtherance of the discount retailer motto. The shrinkage of excess overhead,
and labor would enable the company to explore the development of a stronger base line. As stated,
At its peak, the Kmart property accommodated 5,000 employees. When it was sold in 2005, it had
fewer than 1,900, many of whom were transferred to Illinois (Crain Communication, 2016). Buying

The One Ring to rule them all
The Lord of the Rings is a three part epic fantasy by J.R.R. Tolkien about the struggle to destroy

question of power and its consequences is concerned. In fact, the ... Show more content on

To the rulers of the three races (elves, dwarves, and men) Sauron gave the rings as gifts. The fourth
race of Middle Earth, the hobbits, was perhaps too small and inconsequential for him. In secrecy,
Sauron forged the One Ring a master ring that would rule all the other rings and bring their
wearers under the domination of Sauron himself. It was the One Ring that would grant absolute
power. But, as the story goes, Sauron s plan was discovered before he could complete it, and the
other races (the elves and dwarves) resisted him. Men were more easily corrupted by the
rings, and the rulers of men at that time became Ringwraiths, the most powerful and fearsome of
Sauron s servants. Then there was a great war, for the freedom of Middle Earth, a last alliance of
men and elves (and dwarves, and all who resisted Sauron). In that war, the leader of men named
Isildur managed to sever Sauron s hand, cutting off the connection between Sauron and his One
Ring. The effect was that Sauron s physical form was destroyed, his spirit fled elsewhere, and his
armies crumbled. In that moment of victory, Isildur had the chance to destroy the One Ring
forever, by throwing it into the flames of Mount Doom where it had been created. He refused.
Isildur claimed the One Ring as his by right, and departed, much to the dismay of the elves and all
the others. But the Ring eventually betrayed

Pricing Strategy For A Product
Pricing strategy refers to the steps taken by a company to determine the optimal price for a product.
Among the four Ps, pricing strategy is unique in that it is the only one that generates cash turnover
for the firm, the other three are expenses (Learnmarketing.net, n.d.). Pricing strategy also has a
significant impact on positioning strategy, as pricehas a great impact on how the consumer will
perceive the product. For example, different pricingstrategies for two similar goods can affect
whether one brand is seen as a premium product over another.
When it comes to retail stores carrying products from multiple companies, there are slightly
different pricing strategies than when discussing pricing set my manufacturers. Common retail ...

In addition to giving the customer the sense that the item is already being sold at a good price, and
therefore comparison shopping is unnecessary, it also saves money for the company by reducing
their advertising costs. In the case of Walmart, they buy feature advertisements once a month in
newspapers when their competitors advertised weekly (Boundless.com, 2015). Prior to their
adaptation of EDLP, J.C. Penney spent heavily on this in order to promote salesand offer coupons
to their customers to drive sales under their high/low pricing strategy. An EDLP strategy would
free up the funds used to buy advertising and to pay employees to change the signage in the store
to offer a fixed, discounted price to the consumer.
In addition to reducing expenditure on promotions, EDLP can create a more steady sales
process, rather than the peaks and valleys of high/low. As Ron Johnson, the CEO who
transitioned J.C. Penney to EDLP noted Wal Mart taught us all in the 80s when you get a steady
sales process, what happens? You can manage the business better (Associated Press, 2012).
EDLP has cemented Walmart s reputation as a low price leader, and serves as an excellent
example for the ways EDLP can help a business streamline their supply chain, as an EDLP
strategy has a more predictable demand curve. EDLP is also very simple for the consumer to
understand, and can become a part of branding strategy for the company as well.

Principles and Beliefs The beliefs and practices I ve studied in Scientology have been invaluable
to me John Travolta, Member of the Church of Scientology The most important features of
Scientology lie in their foundations. In its creation it was vital for the principles of Scientology
to not only be original but also be plausible enough for someone to believe wholeheartedly. This
was accomplished with flying colors. With this, it is also important to be familiar with these
ideologies in order to effectively analyze (and perhaps criticize) them. To begin, as always, it s best
to start at the beginning in this case Dianetics. For most Scientologists, Dianetics is their very first
glance into the world of Scientology. For all intents and purposes the best way to describe the
book, is as the holy book of Scientology. However, it does much more than the Bible or the Qaran
to their respective religions. This is because instead of focusing on a series of stories, in which
core of ideas are ingrained in the text with the assumption that they will be correctly interpreted by
a reader, Dianetics is much more clear in its intentions, and feels more like a hybrid between a
textbook and a self help guide. Interestingly enough not once in its hundreds of pages does it
actually utter the word Scientology . Dianetics makes several astounding claims to readers
including increased mental capacity, emotional control, among many more. Perhaps most
impressive, is that many of

World War I Was A Great Power
On August 4, 1914 Great Britain declared war on Germany because the Germans attacked France
through neutral Belgium. When Kaiser Wilhelm II took control of Germany, relations between
Germany and Britain began to change because Wilhelm II wanted Germany to be a great power.
Britain recognized Wilhelm s II strong economy, large population, and powerful armed forces as a
threat capable of dominating Europe, therefore, Britain began to support Russia and France, joining
the Triple Entente. Under the Treaty of London of 1839, Britain had promised to defend Belgium,
bringing Britain into war once Germany invaded Belgium. When Germany invaded Belgium, they
relied on the idea that Britain would remain neutral. Since Germany threatened Britain with their
growing forces, Britain honored the Treaty of London with Belgium and entered World War I
.
Britain had no formal treaty with France there was an understanding that, in the event of a war with
Germany, a British Expeditionary Force would cross to France and take up a position alongside the
French Army. Entering World War I, the British army
was outnumbered and unprepared. The
British army entering World War I was made up of an Expeditionary Force, in case it was
necessary to take part in a foreign war. The Expeditionary Force or (B.E.F) was comprised of six
infantry divisions and four cavalry brigades, making it a small army compared to the other
countries who were a part of the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The pre war

Theme Of To My Dear And Loving Husband By Anne Bradstreet
Poetry Analysis
Poetry is a form of literature that can be both artistic and meaningful, with many similarities and
differences between the poetry pieces created by the millions of famous poets throughout history.
The poems To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet and Shall I compare thee to a
summer s day __ _______ ___________ are two examples of poetry masterpieces that not only
have many things in common, but that also have things that make them unique and singular pieces
of literature. When writing, poets like Shakespeare and Bradstreet try to convey a theme or
meaning that they want their readers to comprehend and understand.
Often, poems from different writers can have a common theme shared between them. In the case of
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A third similarity between the two poems is the use of a first person narrator. In poem 1, the
writer uses the word I when directly speaking about the narrator s feelings. In poem 2, the writer
also uses the word I , but instead uses it in an indirect, roundabout way that has the same
intended meaning as its use in poem 1. There is, however, a definitive difference between
narrator one and narrator 2. This definitive difference, as alluded to earlier, is the gender of the 2
narrators. The narrator of poem 1, for example, is a female writing to her husband. However, in
today s realistic society it could just as very well be a guy writing to his husband if some of the
minor word details were changed. In poem 2, the narrator is semi obviously a man talking about a
girl. As stated before, this could also be taken into the context of a girl talking about another girl in
today s realistic society.
There is yet another way in which the poems are different. The writing style used by the two
writers is entirely different. For example, Shakespeare normally writes all of his poems and/or
sonnets in iambic pentameter. This means that the poem ends in a rhyming couplet, while the other
preceding lines of the poem follow another rhyme pattern, which in this case is what is known as
the a b rhyme scheme. In the case of Shall I compare thee to a summer s day , the poet uses So

Should the Death Penalty Be Reintroduced Into Britian Essay
Should capital punishment be reintroduced in Britain under any circumstances?
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a convicted criminal as punishment
for crimes known as capital crimes or capital offences. Since ancient times capital punishment has
been a punishment for crimes like murder. Stoning, crucifixion, and drowning were old ways of
carrying the death penalty out. Theses days some countries (the majority of the U.S.A., Iraq and
others) say that they use more humane ways of carrying out the death penalty. Theses include the
electric chair, lethal injection and hanging. The death penalty in the U.K. has been abolished now

This is because criminals appeal on death row and this cost society a fortune. Not only that the
electric chair, lethal injection and hanging cost lots of money to set up the equipment. I believe
that the money that could be spent on the criminals if they were given the death penalty should be
use to help criminals instead. Most crimes are committed by people who have no life before prison.
They decide to commit a crime because they will either be given a jail cell in the warmth or their
misery will be ended if they are given the death penalty. Why not give them qualifications so they
can make something of their life if they get out of prison.
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. Exodus, chapter 21, paragraph

They think that it is not wrong and they believe it is a fitting punishment but this seems ridiculous
in light of the fact that one of the Ten Commandments is you shall not murder . Although the bible
says that if someone commits a crime they should face some fate, do they have to face death? A
jail sentence keeps the public just as safe.
These statistic, the death penalty will reduce further crimes, are used by some to claim that the
death penalty is an ok method of punishment. This is not actually the case. Scientific studies have

Volatility Markets.
Introduction When the stock market goes up one day, and then goes down for the next five, then
up again, and then down again, that s what you call market volatility. Historically, the volatility of

Macbeth is Not Well-intentioned Essay
Macbeth is Not Well intentioned
Macbeth is a well intentioned character whose downfall is caused solely by the evil advice and
influence of other characters. To what extent do you consider this statement to be true?
In William Shakespeare s, Macbeth, Macbeth is a character whose downfall is caused by a number
of factors. Despite Macbeth being portrayed as a brave, masculine soldier, he is easily persuaded by
his wife, Lady Macbeth and the witches who deliver prophecies to Macbeth. Macbeth, while being
a victim of this influence, constantly hides his inner ill intentions and makes tragic and
consequential decisions that result in his subsequent downfall. Macbeth is not well intentioned and

Another illustration of Macbeth s ill intent that he attempts to conceal is when he describes, I have
no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition or in other words, he cannot
negate or curb his evil intent as he is possessed, if you like, by vaulting ambition. Using the
aforementioned illustrations, we can see how Macbeth only illustrates a minimal amount of good
intent and thus, one can say that Macbeth is not a well intentioned character.
Whilst Macbeth is a strong, respectable and courageous character, he is easily influenced by other
characters such as the witches and Lady Macbeth. When the witches deliver their prophecies to
Macbeth, he misinterprets them and states, concerning the third prophecy, I will not be afraid of
death and bane till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane. The witches, whilst not helping Macbeth s
cause in anyway do not tell Macbeth to commit any crimes, as is the case when they prophesy to
Macbeth, Beware Macduff , they do not directly force Macbeth to murder Macduff s family but do
strongly influence him. Lady Macbeth attacks Macbeth s masculinity and negatively influences him
in this way, Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under t. Despite the fact that Macbeth
is strongly influenced by these characters, they are not the sole reason for his downfall. Macbeth

Have you ever heard of the Underground Railroad and its most famous conductor? Well if you

A Shooting Massacre Occurred Of San Bernardino California
A shooting massacre happened in San Bernardino California in last December shocked
the world. After the massacre, President Obama made a very quick statement, and he
emphasized that the U. S. should control the guns more strictly and make each effort
to decrease the crimes related to the firearms. Although the gun enthusiasts refute this
proposal, and assert that the individuals should carry guns in terms of defense, I believe that
the best way to protect the citizens from murdered by weapon is to make the weapons
unavailable to the individuals.
First of all, as the gun advocates point out, the Amendment 2nd give the citizens the
rights to own arms. In fact, even though the constitution makes it clear that owning weapons
doesn t violate the law, the Amendment is not intended to encourage people to carry a pistol
without any restriction. The reason is simple and understandable, with the development of the
military technology, we should notice that carrying a gun is more dangerous in the modern
society than in the past because the advanced and mass destruction firearms are designed and
manufactured these days. Thus, it is convenient and effective to kill more innocent people
than the time when the constitution was drafted. If the government does not take the strong
and effective methods to restrict the procession of the weapons of the mass destruction, the
shooting massacre would be increased instead of being decreased in the future.

Food And Religion
Secondly, there are many variations in the kind of practices associated with food. These practices
can be traced down to their religious beliefs or from their cultural heritage. Again, given the
diversity of cultural backgrounds of the Indians in Singapore, it is expected that there will be a
plethora of practices that people follow. During the field trip to the Burhani mosque, I noticed how
there is the practice of eating salt before and after food. Further research reveals that Muslims
believe that salt is very beneficial for body healthand it can protect you from many diseases if you

As such, it is a very common sight among the Hindus who traditionally follow the custom of
sprinkling water on the food before eating their meal and it is believed to be an act of
purification. Cultural belief also affects the way people eat. For instance, among all the Indians,
cutlery is not used to eat food. They think that food is meant to be a whole sensory experience,
so an eating habit in the traditional Indian culture is to consume Indian foods such as curry, rice
and naan bread by picking it up using the hands. Bread is often used to scoop up the curry sauce
and rice, and it is dipped into traditional soups such as daal, a lentil based soup. Indian people are
supposed to eat with their right hands, because eating with the left hand is thought to be unclean.
While it is still common to find Singaporean Indians eating with hands, it is more likely they will
do so in the comfort of their own homes or in restaurants where they can wash their hands before

such as the food court or school canteens because they may find it inconvenient and unhygienic to

Ways Of Seeing By John Berger
Rebecca Morin
Professor Foster
English Composition
10th, December, 2015
Ways of Seeing by John Berger is a set of essays used to explain different techniques used in oil
paintings, advertisements, and the way people look at things differently from one another. The
abstract image Altera Pars by Wojciech Grzanka is a part of his surreal photo manipulation series
called It s All In My Head . In this image a woman clearly with two sets of arms shows that she is
control of how and what she feels. Her attire shows mixed feelings on how she wants to be looked
at. She is wearing a dress that fades away towards the bottom and underneath she is wearing pants.
She stands comfortably in a room that is grungy and dirty. Women and men should not be
condemned to live up to society s expectations of what is right and wrong. The third chapter in
Ways of Seeing focuses on the idea that women and men have a different social presence. A mans
presence is supposed to represent how much power he has. The more power a man has the more
grand and important he seems to other people. It represents what he can do to people and for
people. A woman s presence is represented by how she views herself and what she is willing to
deal with from other people. She is also defined by her clothes, her actions, opinions, and what or
who she is surrounded by. She has to act as if she was two different people, she is to observe
herself and pay attention to the presentation of herself as other people do. Their

A Controlled Trial Of Smart Infusion Pumps
Jeffery et. al. (2005) study, A Controlled Trial of Smart Infusion Pumps to Improve Medication
Safety in Critically Ill Patients, aimed at looking at the differences in serious medical errors
using smart infusion pumps vs not using smart pumps in an intensive care unit. Although, this
was accomplished, it was significantly limited by the sample group characteristics and lack of
staff education regarding smart pumps. The study analyzed in depth the serious medication
errors using the infusion pumps and found multiple areas for improvement, from the provider
ordering the medication to the reprograming of the pumps. This can help reduce medication
administration errors specific to the causes found by the study. Medication errors can be life
threatening especially to critically ill patients. Intravenous medications, if given improperly, can
have fatal consequences in the critically ill (Tissot et. al.,1999). For example, heparin given at
the wrong dose can lead to severe bleeding and stroke (Crowther Warkentin, 2008). Using smart
pumps gives alerts to the operator making them aware of a possible wrong dose based on the
medication given. Summary Jeffery et. al. (2005) study looked at the use of smart infusion

Energy Drinks In Sports Drinks
Problem and Purpose
The problem is that many people use and rely on sports drinks, many of which contain high
levels of calories coming from sugar. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on
the obesity epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people
eat too much sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many
others use these beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I
wanted to test these products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the
highest concentration of electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to
gain enough electrolytes without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content.
Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least
amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories
because calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt,
calcium, potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are

Quetiapine Case Study
White matter impairment is a feature of vascular depression. The anti psychotic quetiapine has been
shown to enhance the therapeutic effects of anti depressants on vascular depression, but the
mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we found that 2 weeks of treatment with quetiapine
prior to bilateral carotid artery occlusion and reperfusion, in an animal model of vascular
depression, resulted in reduced myelinbreakdown and oligodendrocyte loss compared to placebo
treated mice on post operative day (POD) 7. For late stage of recovery (POD40), quetiapine
treatment resulted in enhanced oligodendrocyte maturation relative to placebo. The results suggest
that quetiapine is a potential intervention for oligodendrocyte damage and this may... Show more

2008; Sheline et al. 2010), we hypothesized that atypical anti psychotics (e.g., quetiapine) may
augment the anti depressant effects by altering white matter impairments.
Our previous studies have shown that quetiapine alleviated depression like behaviors and neuronal
damage in mice with bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion (BCCAO) (Yan et al.2007a,b), an
animal model of global cerebral ischemia (GCI) and vascular depression (Gaur and Kumar 2010).
In this study, we tested the hypothesis that pre treatment with quetiapine protects the brain from
OLG loss and enhances OLG regeneration in GCI mice.
Materials and methods
Male CD1 mice (18 20 g, Charles River, St. Constant, QC, Canada) received either quetiapine (10
mg/kg in saline, AstraZeneca, Canada, Montreal, QC, Canada) or vehicle (saline) treatment
(i.p.) for 14 days. On day 15, the mice were assigned to a sham or a BCCAO surgery to induce
GCI as previously described (Yan et al.2007b), which generated four treatment groups: Sham
(sham + saline), QTP (sham + quetiapine), GCI (GCI + saline), and G + Q (GCI + quetiapine).
Briefly, mice were anesthetized with ketamine (110 mg/kg) and xylazine (15 mg/kg). Both
common carotid arteries were exposed and occluded with cotton thread for 60 min, after which the
thread was removed to allow reperfusion. The sham group underwent the same procedure without
arterial occlusion. Animals recovered for either 7 or 40 days post operative (POD) and were

Joan Of Arc Martyr
Joan of Arc, 1412 1432, was a martyr, saint and military leader who led the French against the
English in the Hundred Years War at a young age. She grew up in a small town in France. Her
father, Jacques, and her mother, Isabelle taught her lots of things, but the most important of all was
that she was very religious. When Joan has been around twelve years old, she started having
visions. Once she saw Michael the Archangel, who told her that she had to lead the French in a
battle against the English, and then take the king to be crowned at Rheims. She continued to have
visions and hear voices until she turned sixteen, then she decided that it was time to listen to her
visions and take action.
Joan has been just a peasant farm girl, however, that didn`t matter, she was going to ask King
Charles of France for an army. She passed through a lot of people that only laughed at her, but she
never gives up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They said that it was enough to deserve death and announced her guilty. She was burned alive at
the stake with a cross on her hand, and her final words were that she forgave her accusers and
asked them to pray for her. She was only nineteen years old when she died. One legend surrounding
the event tells of how her heart survived the fire unaffected and how her ashes were gathered and
scattered in the Seine.
After Joan s death, the Hundred Years War continued for another 22 years. King Charles VII
ultimately retained his crown, and he ordered an investigation that in 1456 declared Joan of Arc to
be officially innocent of all charges and designated a martyr. She was canonized as a saint on May
16, 1920, and is the patron saint of France. For all of us, she is an example of people, because of all
her values and attitudes; and we should take her as an example of never giving

Iago better known as Othello s antagonist embodies vengeance and hatred to move an agenda to squash all who oppose Iago s plans. As defined by Merrium Webster the definition of a protagonist is a principal character in a literary work or a leading actor, character, or participant in a literary work. Othelloby Shakespeare is a play about Othello an example of a tragic hero with all figures centered around Othello as the protagonist yet, Othello has two main leading characters. As a masterful leading machiavellian character Iago exploits the flaw all characters poses in Othello which is faith versus doubt in others. A powerful role to mold an entire play behind the goal of a singular entity under the eyes of a scholar qualifies as a protagonist( Hull). Iago breaks the boundaries that define antagonist or protagonist by being complex enough and having enough lines that place him on par if not above Othello (West 42 ). The main flaw in the protagonist argument is how Iago is a static character without any clear transformation. Evidence from his lack of change exist in act one and to the final act is continuously lying and trying to create chaos. Antagonist or protagonist Iago s actions qualify as morally wrong when usually a protagonist that drives the plot is working for good; however, by definition a protagonist is not inertly of good moral code. ( Hull) Iago has an interesting set of flaws and advantages showing characteristics of a psychopath. Without flaws Iago would lose his humane characteristics and potentially lose the audiences interest ( West 13). Iago has no positive moral compass and an unexplained desire to destroy friend or foe even after the fact that Othello murders Desdemona qualifies the character as psychotic. Iago even recognizes his planning of evil actions to ruin Othello as simply a game Let us be conjunctive against him. If thou canst cuckold him, thou dost thyself a pleasure, me a sport. Essay on The Rise of the Nazi Party The Rise of the Nazi Party Hitler s rise to power was the result of many factors, but Hitler s ability to take advantage of Germany s poor leadership and economical and political conditions was the most significant factor. His ability to manipulate the media and the German public whilst taking advantage of Germany s poor leadership resulted in both the collapse of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Hitler and the nazi party. During the early 1920s, Germany was struggling with economic instability and political uncertainty. Germany, after being defeated in the Great War, was forced to sign the unforgiving treaty of Versailles, which the Weimar Republic was held responsible for. During the hardship of the 1920s and1930s, political incompetence was highlighted, the Weimar Government proved its incompetence time and time again. .The instability of the Weimar Republic was so great that the average life span of Reich cabinets was from 6 7 months. Their incapability of providing justice to outbreaks of violence, such as political assassinations is one example of the incompetence of the Weimar Republic. When Germany found its self in undesirable economical situations due to the Treaty of Versalles, they printed money to pay off reparations, which resulted in super inflation. During the period of super inflation people s life savings became worthless which contributed to the downward circle of a reduction in standard of living. As unemployment rose and people began to afford less and less with their money, people commenced searching for a better alternative to the Weimar Government. Hitler s ability to build upon these feelings whilst offering security, prosperity and full employment, convinced Germany, in a state of disillusionment, to support the nazi party. The Weimar s instability contributed to the collapse of the Weimar republic provided perfect conditions for the nazi party to rise to power. Using the title The World as a Polder, he examines twelve major issues that are expected to worsen in the future. These issues include deforestation, overfishing, loss of diversity of species, loss of soil, growth of the human population, and the effect of more people. The limit on energy, freshwater, and sunlight is also mentioned, as well as the challenges brought up by toxic chemicals, alien species, and atmospheric gases. These environmental challenges are so hard to overcome because different people do not want to spend money and time fixing the same dilemmas. • 10. Reflection On My Social Life In A Social Class In the past two lectures, we discussed people and their social standings. The discussion made me reflect on my current living situation and consider to what social class I belong. I am a college student, obviously, but am fortunate enough to live rent free in a beautiful home where I have the entire upstairs to myself. I am in a stable relationship with my girlfriend of over two years, I drive a nice car that is paid for, and I have a solid job that I have had since the age of 16. I feel, by definition, this places me firmly in the middle class. I live with my mother and two sisters. My father lives in another state. While he does help by sending child support, my portion dropped off when I turned 18. This has made our entire family more financially aware of everything and we have had to adjust our lifestyle in many areas. Being in college, I am not able to work as many hours as I would like which would give me more money in my pocket. My mother has gone back to school to further her education so she can get a better job and more money for our household as well. A third similarity between the two poems is the use of a first person narrator. In poem 1, the writer uses the word I when directly speaking about the narrator s feelings. In poem 2, the writer also uses the word I , but instead uses it in an indirect, roundabout way that has the same intended meaning as its use in poem 1. There is, however, a definitive difference between narrator one and narrator 2. This definitive difference, as alluded to earlier, is the gender of the 2 narrators. The narrator of poem 1, for example, is a female writing to her husband. However, in today s realistic society it could just as very well be a guy writing to his husband if some of the minor word details were changed. In poem 2, the narrator is semi obviously a man talking about a girl. As stated before, this could also be taken into the context of a girl talking about another girl in today s realistic society. There is yet another way in which the poems are different. The writing style used by the two writers is entirely different. For example, Shakespeare normally writes all of his poems and/or sonnets in iambic pentameter. This means that the poem ends in a rhyming couplet, while the other preceding lines of the poem follow another rhyme pattern, which in this case is what is known as the a b rhyme scheme. In the case of Shall I compare thee to a summer s day , the poet uses So long as men can breathe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Should the Death Penalty Be Reintroduced Into Britian Essay Should capital punishment be reintroduced in Britain under any circumstances? Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a convicted criminal as punishment for crimes known as capital crimes or capital offences. Since ancient times capital punishment has been a punishment for crimes like murder. Stoning, crucifixion, and drowning were old ways of carrying the death penalty out. Theses days some countries (the majority of the U.S.A., Iraq and others) say that they use more humane ways of carrying out the death penalty. Theses include the electric chair, lethal injection and hanging. The death penalty in the U.K. has been abolished now since 1969 (1999 for treason and arson on a naval base). Not only that the electric chair, lethal injection and hanging cost lots of money to set up the equipment. I believe that the money that could be spent on the criminals if they were given the death penalty should be use to help criminals instead. Most crimes are committed by people who have no life before prison. They decide to commit a crime because they will either be given a jail cell in the warmth or their misery will be ended if they are given the death penalty. Why not give them qualifications so they can make something of their life if they get out of prison. He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. Exodus, chapter 21, paragraph 12. Is this right? Some people believe that capital punishment is right because the bible says so. They think that it is not wrong and they believe it is a fitting punishment but this seems ridiculous in light of the fact that one of the Ten Commandments is you shall not murder . Although the bible says that if someone commits a crime they should face some fate, do they have to face death? A jail sentence keeps the public just as safe. These statistic, the death penalty will reduce further crimes, are used by some to claim that the death penalty is an ok method of punishment. This is not actually the case. Macbeth is Not Well-intentioned Essay Macbeth is Not Well intentioned Macbeth is a well intentioned character whose downfall is caused solely by the evil advice and influence of other characters. To what extent do you consider this statement to be true? In William Shakespeare s, Macbeth, Macbeth is a character whose downfall is caused by a number of factors. Despite Macbeth being portrayed as a brave, masculine soldier, he is easily persuaded by his wife, Lady Macbeth and the witches who deliver prophecies to Macbeth. Another illustration of Macbeth s ill intent that he attempts to conceal is when he describes, I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition or in other words, he cannot negate or curb his evil intent as he is possessed, if you like, by vaulting ambition. Using the aforementioned illustrations, we can see how Macbeth only illustrates a minimal amount of good intent and thus, one can say that Macbeth is not a well intentioned character. Whilst Macbeth is a strong, respectable and courageous character, he is easily influenced by other characters such as the witches and Lady Macbeth. When the witches deliver their prophecies to Macbeth, he misinterprets them and states, concerning the third prophecy, I will not be afraid of death and bane till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane. The witches, whilst not helping Macbeth s cause in anyway do not tell Macbeth to commit any crimes, as is the case when they prophesy to Macbeth, Beware Macduff , they do not directly force Macbeth to murder Macduff s family but do strongly influence him. Harriet Tubman was a slave in the 1800 s who saved herself as well as 300+ other slaves using the route of the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was a route of houses that slaves used to get to the north. Harriet changed the lives of many slaves forever. Harriet Tubman was born in Dorchester County, Maryland in 1820. She lived there with her family and her eight siblings Linah, Mariah Ritty, Moses, Ben, Robert, Henry, Rachel, and Soph Ross until she was five. That s when she started working. She worked for the slave owners from there on out. That was her life. In her early life Harriet had two different types of pets. She had crickets and bunnies, but I don t know how many. • 35. A Shooting Massacre Occurred Of San Bernardino California A shooting massacre happened in San Bernardino California in last December shocked the world. After the massacre, President Obama made a very quick statement, and he emphasized that the U. S. should control the guns more strictly and make each effort to decrease the crimes related to the firearms. Although the gun enthusiasts refute this proposal, and assert that the individuals should carry guns in terms of defense, I believe that the best way to protect the citizens from murdered by weapon is to make the weapons unavailable to the individuals. First of all, as the gun advocates point out, the Amendment 2nd give the citizens the rights to own arms. In fact, even though the constitution makes it clear that owning weapons doesn t violate the law, the Amendment is not intended to encourage people to carry a pistol without any restriction. The reason is simple and understandable, with the development of the military technology, we should notice that carrying a gun is more dangerous in the modern society than in the past because the advanced and mass destruction firearms are designed and manufactured these days. Thus, it is convenient and effective to kill more innocent people than the time when the constitution was drafted. If the government does not take the strong and effective methods to restrict the procession of the weapons of the mass destruction, the shooting massacre would be increased instead of being decreased in the future. ... As such, it is a very common sight among the Hindus who traditionally follow the custom of sprinkling water on the food before eating their meal and it is believed to be an act of purification. Cultural belief also affects the way people eat. For instance, among all the Indians, cutlery is not used to eat food. They think that food is meant to be a whole sensory experience, so an eating habit in the traditional Indian culture is to consume Indian foods such as curry, rice and naan bread by picking it up using the hands. Bread is often used to scoop up the curry sauce and rice, and it is dipped into traditional soups such as daal, a lentil based soup. Indian people are supposed to eat with their right hands, because eating with the left hand is thought to be unclean. While it is still common to find Singaporean Indians eating with hands, it is more likely they will do so in the comfort of their own homes or in restaurants where they can wash their hands before and afterward. Many Indians now do not eat with hands and use cutlery instead in public settings such as the food court or school canteens because they may find it inconvenient and unhygienic to eat with hands in these ... Ways Of Seeing By John Berger Rebecca Morin Professor Foster English Composition 10th, December, 2015 Ways of Seeing by John Berger is a set of essays used to explain different techniques used in oil paintings, advertisements, and the way people look at things differently from one another. The abstract image Altera Pars by Wojciech Grzanka is a part of his surreal photo manipulation series called It s All In My Head . In this image a woman clearly with two sets of arms shows that she is control of how and what she feels. Her attire shows mixed feelings on how she wants to be looked at. She is wearing a dress that fades away towards the bottom and underneath she is wearing pants. She stands comfortably in a room that is grungy and dirty. Women and men should not be condemned to live up to society s expectations of what is right and wrong. The third chapter in Ways of Seeing focuses on the idea that women and men have a different social presence. A mans presence is supposed to represent how much power he has. The more power a man has the more grand and important he seems to other people. It represents what he can do to people and for people. A woman s presence is represented by how she views herself and what she is willing to deal with from other people. She is also defined by her clothes, her actions, opinions, and what or who she is surrounded by. She has to act as if she was two different people, she is to observe herself and pay attention to the presentation of herself as other people do. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2005) study, A Controlled Trial of Smart Infusion Pumps to Improve Medication Safety in Critically Ill Patients, aimed at looking at the differences in serious medical errors using smart infusion pumps vs not using smart pumps in an intensive care unit. Although, this was accomplished, it was significantly limited by the sample group characteristics and lack of staff education regarding smart pumps. The study analyzed in depth the serious medication errors using the infusion pumps and found multiple areas for improvement, from the provider ordering the medication to the reprograming of the pumps. This can help reduce medication administration errors specific to the causes found by the study. Medication errors can be life threatening especially to critically ill patients. Intravenous medications, if given improperly, can have fatal consequences in the critically ill (Tissot et. al.,1999). For example, heparin given at the wrong dose can lead to severe bleeding and stroke (Crowther Warkentin, 2008). Using smart pumps gives alerts to the operator making them aware of a possible wrong dose based on the medication given. Summary Jeffery et. al. (2005) study looked at the use of smart infusion pumps to assess serious medical errors in a cardiac surgical intensive care unit. In the present century the posturing of the contending parties over rival claims over maritime resources is therefore becoming increasingly belligerent . The jostling for power which the world is witnessing in the region has given rise to three main contenders India, China and US. Having seen the geopolitics, the economic arena and the maritime security environment it is imperative on us to carry out a systematic in depth analysis of the strategic interests of India and China with specific focus on the views of each other s policy in the region so as to arrive at a strategic conclusion. 37.Before moving ahead it is important to note that Indian Ocean is in our backyard and is often regarded as India s ocean. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on the obesity epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people eat too much sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many others use these beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I wanted to test these products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the highest concentration of electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to gain enough electrolytes without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content. Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories because calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt, calcium, potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are made of) it would be less sugary (what calories are made of) and vice versa. Background Research A great many athletes will drink a sports/electrolyte drink after an activity or workout, while others will just drink these to enjoy or to feel more hydrated. In most of these situations the person drinking the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this study, we tested the hypothesis that pre treatment with quetiapine protects the brain from OLG loss and enhances OLG regeneration in GCI mice. Materials and methods Male CD1 mice (18 20 g, Charles River, St. Constant, QC, Canada) received either quetiapine (10 mg/kg in saline, AstraZeneca, Canada, Montreal, QC, Canada) or vehicle (saline) treatment (i.p.) for 14 days.
