Two Point Discrimination Lab Report
Exercise 3: Two point discrimination The two point discrimination experiment explored how
the density of tactile receptors varies across the body. The experimenter utilized an unfolded
metal paper clip bent in a U shape and touched the two points of it to one of the areas tested
(palm, back of hand, fingertip, back of forearm, back). The subject looked away and noted
whether she felt one or two points of the paper clip. The experimenter continued to widen the
distance between the two ends of the paper clip until the subject perceived two distinct points of
the paperclip on the body. The subject perceived two points most easily on the fingertip (3mm)
and less readily on the back (16mm) (Table 1). Location Minimum distance to feel two points (mm)

The temperature sensing component of thermoreceptors are transient receptor potential proteins
(TRPs); varying isoforms open and depolarize the thermoreceptor in response to specific
temperature ranges. Thermoreceptors experience sensory adaptation, or decreased firing frequency
of action potentials, when exposed to a prolonged stimulus. The temperature sensitivity of the
receptor changes and thus a colder water bin would be necessary to elicit a perception of cold after
adaptation. When the subject placed both hands in the room temperature bin, the left hand that was
exposed to cold water perceived the room temperature bin as warm because the change in
temperature was strong enough to induce the desensitized thermoreceptors to fire increased rates of
action potentials. The right hand that was exposed to warm water experienced a perception of cold
as its desensitized thermoreceptors were resensitized and increased action potential frequency due

Sensors Allocation Fault
Introduction
Background
A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of distributed sensors to monitor environmental
conditions such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or detect dimensions, to pass
their data through the network to a base station for processing. Advantages of WSN over a wired
system considered in elimination of wiring cost, sensors can be installed in harsh environments.
Each sensor node is a combination of Radio transceiver with an internal antenna or connection to an
external antenna micro controller, electronic circuit for interfacing with the sensors, energy source,
usually a battery or an embedded form of energy harvesting. Drawback of using sensors is having
limited power to consume, a memory that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this solution is not optimal neither it is minimal. To provide a better solution a
collaboration of different parameter sensors is used to both minimize and optimize sensor usage.
Figure 2 describes a 3 axis graph of the boxes, the x axis is dimension, the y axis is the color and
the z axis is the weight. Figure 2a, 2b and 2c maps objects by the x y, y z and x z respectively.
There 11 different possible sensor positions using the 3 parameters shown in a light grey dashed
line on figure 2 graphs. Using the code described in section 3, the solution set resulted in using a
total of 3 sensors (d3, w1, c2) shown on a solid line in figure 2 graphs. This subset of sensors
happens to be both the optimal and minimal solution.
Proposed solution:
The following section describes the code developed to find an optimal sensor solution. The first
step is to consider the cost of each sensor used. The minimal sensor subset is the set with the
lowest cost. The equation [1] describes the cost of the sensor, which simply is the summation of
each of the used sensors. As described previously, most sensors used in this technique are simple
and there is no significant difference in their cost. Thereby since sensors of different parameter are
of the same cost, it is more effective to consider the

Why Is Elementary School So Important To Me
My elementary school years, to me, and I think a lot of people could agree with that. I have
literally zero good memories from my grade school years. The only things that comes to mind
when i even think of elementary school are upset teachers, disappointing grades, and terribly mean
students. I was aЛњ very hyper active child but a lot of teachers mistakened my hyperness for a
bad apple. This led to a lot of phone calls home, letters to my mom, and my desk being seated
next to or in front of my teacher. It was horrible, to have a teacher scold you over and over for
doing something you are not in control of. There were a lot of recess missed and lot of things
written 50 to 100 times. It was almost depressing. If it weren t for my incredible imagination...

I remember one recess I nearly broke my fingers trying to write I will be quiet in class 50 times
just to go out and play with the other kids. But because of my AdHd I failed and missed it. It
almost killed my spirit to see everyone play and even kids that that had to do the same assignment
were finishing before me. When Second grade came I had went to two schools. The first one was a
catholic school that I hated and still hate now. They didn t have a cafeteria and most importantly
they didn t have a playscape. They made me wear some stupid dress code that i wouldn t mind
much today but back then I had a burning passion of furry against wearing the white collars and
snap on ties that simulated the exact feeling of being slowly choked by an angry toddler. And if
that wasn t enough, because it was a catholic school my teacher was a mean pric. It wasn t just
her actions, it also was how she looked. I mean like I know that not everyone loves their job but
emulating how much you don t like it doesn t help. Especially if your job is teaching a class of

The Importance Of Acculturation In America
Acculturation is the process of how a person or a group of people adapt into another culture by
taking small pieces of that culture into their own culture. It is the idea of blend in with another
culture, other than your own. For example, my family and relatives came to the United States for a
little over 10 years now and some of the family members have assimilated into the American culture
by beginning to celebrate the holidays, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Further,
we are remaining embedded in the ethnic of being Hmong. Many of us decided to come to America
to obtain a better lifestyle, and the America society has greatly impact our life to assimilate into the
American culture.
The society and community influence our behaviors of what we like, see, do and act as a child with
or without our parents authority. For instance, if the parents choose to raise their children in an
urban environment with a lot of opportunities to make money via street crime, then those young
children have a likelihood of becoming involve with that sort of lifestyle. Because the youngsters
are pure and innocent, they are sensitive to everything around them. They are conscious taking
pieces of another culture into their own and their lifestyle start to change, include customs, beliefs,
behaviors, and value. In addition, the parents choices and the community or environment have great
influence on young children s life and development. A lot of the products in store are

The Crucible Summary Chapter 6
During this unit, Pontius Pilate questions Jesus as the final decision maker in this trial. In verse 11
he asks Are you the king of the Jews? in which Jesus replied You have said so. Pilate continues the
interrogation after the elders and the high priest have concluded their testimonies against Jesus. An
element of irony is introduced as Pilate is amazed that Jesus made no rebuttal against such claims.
Pontius Pilateprobes further in verse 13 and asks Don t you hear the testimony they are bringing
against you? Ironically, Jesus gave no response. Why was Jesus remaining silent? Possibly, due to
the crowd s obvious people power there was no response that would have satisfied the hostile
climate. Furthermore, Jesus predicted his death many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Racism In The United States Today
We still have racism in the United States today, no doubt about it. In our world today, it doesn t
take long before you hear someone ask the question, was that racist? . often times we question if
what we say and hear is racist. we learn about i in schools and understand the idea, but it seems we
still are confused on what racismreally is. and it s not only the white kids who are throwing the
was that racist card in the air. Often times in pop culture in cinematic movies or tv shows someone
of a different race, usually black, will throw out the phrase is it because i m black?? asian???

This general method has led to understanding of dynamic performance of PWM converters.
However, the state space method is sometimes tedious, especially when the converter circuit
contains a large number of elements [6]. To overcome some of the problems mentioned above, a
signal flow graph (SFG) nonlinear graphical modeling method was developed for PWM
converters [7]. The advantages of this method over other methods are: (i) it converts the switching
converter into a unified dynamic model, (ii) from unified model, it is possible to derive large,
small signal and steady state models,
(iii) it is easier to arrive at small signal models with minimum mathematical manipulations, (iv) it is
possible to derive various relationships among the circuit variables without any difficulty, (v) it is
possible to incorporate the cause and effect relationship of the dynamics etc. This SFG method

was also extended to study the dynamics of one cycle controlled switching converters [8], large
signal and steady state analysis of dc dc parallel converters [9]. The objective of this paper is to
develop the small signal SFG from the simplified SFG, and present a small signal feedback
analysis of a closed loop voltage mode controlled interleaved dual boost (IDB) converter.

Financial Planning Research Paper
5 Best Practices for Financial Planning
Sometimes, financial planning doesn t receive the amount of focus that it truly deserves. However,
this is an extremely important task and can determine how a person spends their retirement. In
order to enjoy retirement, it is best to set aside an amount that will eliminate concerns for the future.
Determining the amount of money that is needed for retirement is difficult. It is completely
depending on the individual who is planning their retirement and their specific needs and desires.
For this reason, relying on practices to determine what a person needs for their financial planning
needs is crucial.
Determine Financial Goals and Needs
There are a couple of questions people should ask when they are ... Show more content on

Knowing exactly what the money is being saved for can help make it easier to create a financial
plan.
Determine how much Money is needed
After a purpose and plan has been developed, it is necessary to determine how much money is
needed to reach those goals. Unfortunately, this is one of the hardest portions of financial planning
and many people find that they underestimate the money that they truly need.
At this point, it is best to sit down with a financial planner that can discuss a financial plan. Make
sure to inform the financial planner about the plans that are in existence for retirement. After a
financial planner understands what retirement should look like, they will be able to help develop
the best financial plan to reach those goals.
Develop Streams of Income
It is always best to have multiple streams of income when developing a financial plan for
retirement. The goal should be to have around three sources of income. This has been shown to
produce happier and wealthier retirees.
The most common sources of income are related to investments, business income and real estate.
Having multiple income streams helps investors to bridge the gap that may be in place because of

The Massacre At Virginia Tech
The massacre at Virginia Tech is known as one of the deadliest shootings in the history of our
nation (History, 2011). This event that occurred on April 16, 2007 brought great pain to our
country but this was not a pain that was unfamiliar. Mass shooting is something that we as a
nation have dealt with for a while and on April 16, 2007 was no different. This massacre left 32
dead including the shooter himself, 23 year old, Seung Hui Cho. To really understand how to
put an end to mass shooting one must analyze what happened here it is necessary to look into
the shooters life and the victims he took. It is also important to know the events that lead up to
the shooting, what happened during the shooting and also after. Seung Hui Cho, known for
carrying out one of the most devastating madd murders in the US was born on January 18, 1984
in South Korea (Biography, 2014). Cho was always very quiet from the beginning. Cho s aunt in
South Korea shared that his resolute silences were a source of worrying for his mother at a
young age (NYTIMES, 2007). Cho and his family migrated to the United States when he was
eight years old. We thought that it would help the boy gain confidence if he moved to the United
States open society, said an Uncle of Cho s (NYTIMES, 2007). But they soon realized it didn t
help at all. Living in Centreville, Virginia his family ran a dry cleaning business. As a child Cho

Historical Development Of Urban Development
Introduction In the context of urban history, infrastructure can make or break a community. In the
United States, the historical development of urban infrastructure has both formed and followed the
inscriptions of race, class, and gender on the urban landscape. Ample in more affluent communities,
usually absent or minimal in historic concentrations of urban poverty, infrastructure does not serve
its public equally. Some cities have a more equitable distribution of infrastructure than others, but
many urban neighborhoods remain woefully underserved, (Avila 4 5). My hometown of Tolleson,
Arizona is a small cityof six thousand, five hundred residents with a predominantly Mexican
population, with nearly 78% of the residents declaring themselves as Mexican in the 2010 census.
The focus of my research will be on the power of Latinx representation Latinx majority cities
governments, using Tolleson as a special case study, whose city councilis majority Mexican.
Tolleson has been making great strides to fix up the town and provide more jobs and
opportunities to its residents, and in doing so, the city has asserted itself as a major example for
its innovation and strengthening infrastructure. For example, Tolleson was the only city in Arizona

A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift Analysis
Imagine everyday stepping foot outside and witnessing children as well as their mothers on
every street corner begging for food and clothing. These items are everyday necessities that
people had to beg for because they could not afford to take care of themselves and their children.
For example, most children in today s society could not imagine living without three meals
everyday. Their parents provide and nurture for them as well as give them clean clothes to
change into everyday. This goes to show children living in present day are far better off than
children living in the time period of swift s poem. In Swift s poem he talks about his life and

Cause Of Plastic Pollution
The following poem illustrates the problem of pollution, focusing on plastic, in the marine
environment.
The best place to be is next to the sea where tired feet gladly greet, sand so soft and white.
The taste of salty air, a cool breeze blowing through untied hair,
Warmth all around, from the sun beaming down, against a backdrop of majestic blue.
Hear the birds sing, the waves crashing,
And know one thing is true.
The ocean is drowning in a sea of plastic,
Before long marine life will be in a casket.
The beauty of the beach will be no more
Once plastic covers the shore.
Birds are entangled, turtles are endangered, trash litters the ocean floor.
A plan of action needs to be taken with all humans participating.
Oceans are water, water is life, and right now life is suffocating.
Plastics currently represent the vast majority of human made debris present in the oceans
(Reisser, Shaw, Wilcox, Hardersty, Proietti, Thums, Pattiaratchi, n.d., p.1). According to Sigler
(2014), the magnitude of plastic pollution carried to sea has significantly multiplied over the
past several decades (p. 2). Due to this increase in plastic pollution, oceans are becoming
increasingly dangerous to marine wildlife, the environment and human health; which is why
policies that ban plastic bags and single use, disposable dishes are crucial to the sustainability of
Earth s water supply. Besides being unsightly, plastic in the oceans cause major detrimental
effects to marine life. Animals can get entangled or even die from ingestion. Globally, at least
23% of marine mammal species, 36% of seabird species, and 86% of sea turtle species are
known to be affected by plastic debris (Sigler, 2014, p. 3). Some plastic in the ocean gets broken
down into smaller pieces that become increasingly toxic, which then get eaten by fish, and
following the food chain end up effecting human health (Reisser et al., n.d., p. 2). Multiple studies
have proven that single use, disposable plastic is the most common type of litter found in the
oceans. Annually almost 280 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, the majority of
consumer products used today are comprised of some form of plastic (Sigler, 2014, p. 1). Plastic
was made to last, it

3d Printing Versus Traditional Manufacturing Techniques
3D printing has been used in different aspects of every field but mostly its application has been
limited to making prototypes. 3D printing versus Traditional Manufacturing techniques in almost
every field is still very debatable. One such area which I would like to explore in terms of
functionality and cost effectiveness would be the Construction Industry.
The last time a global survey for homelessness was attempted by the United Nations in 2005 an
estimated 100 million people were homeless worldwide. As many as 1.6 billion people lacked
adequate housing [1]. In the United States, on a single night in January 2015, 564,708 people
were experiencing homelessness meaning they were sleeping outside or in an emergency shelter
or transitional housing program [2]. In 2013, the Slum population in India went up from 52
million to 65 million and it has been predicted to rise to 104 million [3]. Looking at the statistics,
the main cause for homelessness could be contributed to cost of affordable housing. Another
example that could be considered could be of people living in disaster prone areas where people
lose their houses overnight. In such scenarios, 3D printing could be a viable solution where houses
could be printed in a couple of days as compared to traditional construction methods where people
need to seek out emergency shelters till their houses are built. Also, 3D printing a house gives

How Did Galilei Contribute To Science
Galileo Galilei made contributions to the fields of physics, astronomy, cosmology, mathematics,
and philosophy. He was an extraordinarily intelligent man and had a big part during the
Enlightenment. He made his first discovery in 1581 while he was a student at the University of
Pisa, where he originally went into medicine but switched his focus to mathematics. He described
the rules that governed the motion of a pendulum. He was then the chair of mathematics at the
Universities of Pisa and Padua from 1589 to 1610.
In 1604 Galileo published The Operations of the Geometrical and Military Compass, revealing his
skill with experiments and practical technological applications. He invented a hydrostatic balance

He discovered four new stars orbiting Jupiter, the planet s four moons to be exact, he called the
stars the Medician stars. With these new discoveries he had gained even more evidence to support
the Copernican theory. He published a treatise on his discovery which soon made him a very well
known man in Italy. Many people including scientists and theologians said his theory differed from
the Aristotelian view of the Universe, and his depiction of the rugged surface of our own moon
greatly disagreed with the idea of heavenly perfection.
In 1632 Galileo published his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, he presented
arguments for both sides of the heliocentrism debate. He had no luck fooling anyone with his
attempt at balance, he was called before the Roman Inquisition in 1633, he tried to deny
advocating heliocentrism, and later said he did it unintentionally. He was convicted of vehement
suspicion of heresy, and was threatened with torture to express sorrow and curse his error. He
was nearly 70 years old at the time of his trial, and he spent the last years of his life under house
arrest. He died in 1642, on the 8th of January, after suffering a fever and heart

A Survey on Human Mobility Modeling The speaker of this presentation is Hugo Serrano
Barbosa Filho from Florida Tech. The topic of this presentation is the importance of human
mobility modeling and several human mobility modeling methods Human mobility model
represents the movement of human and how they change their positions over time[1]. At the
beginning of presentation Mr. Filho answered two questions. First, human mobility research is
about analyze and predict human daily activities and places they visiting. Second, human
mobility modeling is reproduce patterns about human mobility activities, and the reason why
modeling human mobility is it can help to solve a lot of problems. These problems are very
important in nowadays. For example, traffic forecasting can forecast traffic situation in different
streets and give drivers the best path to destination. Urban planning can help improving the
urban areas. Epidemics modeling can predicate how epidemics such like flu moved and how to
control it. Then Mr. Filho introduced the two different levels of human mobility. The first one
we call it individual level, which is a micro level. It is about an individual s activities, such like
what places he/she visits in a week. But in the other hand is the population level, which is a
macro level. This level is about the entire data of a group people s activities, such like how many
cars travel through a particular road each week, or how many people migrate from one area to

The Recovery Room
From the birth of the recovery room in the 1940s to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) of the
21th century, the look and function of this unit have been in a constant state of evolution.
Throughout the six past decades, surgical procedures have become more extensive and
complicated and thus require more specially prepared nursing staff and equipment for the care of
the patient (Odom Forren, 2013). The PACU of today is an intensive care specialty that provides
care to wide range surgical patients. Many of these patients have more than one chronic condition,
such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic pain, and chronic heart
problems. In order to provide safe patient care, the PACU nurseneeds to develop the ability to blend
expert clinical knowledge that is based on experience, education, and collegial sharing with caring
practices that comes from within and from being a nurse (Odom Forren, 2013).
For many years, critical care experience was a must have requirement prior to working in the
PACU. The PACU was staffed with experienced intensive care unit (ICU) nurses with different
backgrounds and a solid nursing knowledge base. Nowadays, many of these nurses are retiring or
taking different paths in their careers forcing the PACU managers to revise hiring requirements and
open the PACU doors to non ICU and new graduate nurses. In order to assist the new graduate

Persuasive Essay On Pro Xenotransplantation
Many people all over the world have been using animals for their common good whether if its
food, transportation, and/or companionship. All of my life, I have owned a canine. Currently, I
am a proud owner of a Bichon Frise , named Rocky. I love my dog with all my heart; However, if I
am faced with a scenario where my mother would die of heart failure and my dogwas a match for
her, I would put my dog to sleep to save her life. Therefore, I support xenotransplantation. Speaking
as an animal lover, I understand the sacrifice, pain, and demoralization that one can be faced with
to save a loved one.

Subjecting animals to experiments that we would not consider ethically feasible to apply to
humans. There are limitations that are placed legally to protect humanity. When considering
animals for experimentation, there are no legal guidelines that restrict scientists from harming
them. Ascribing animals to a lower moral status because of their lack of intelligence,
communication skills, and human relations; taking advantage of them are quite easy. According to
the Moral Theory of Animals, there are two types of approaches that support this idea. One
approach starts from the position that the interests of animals, particularly in avoiding suffering,
should be taken into account when judging whether it is acceptable to use them for medical
purposes that benefit human beings. The second approach argues that animals, like human beings,
have rights that must be respected when considering their use for such purposes. (Stanford

Jim Carrey Speech Analysis
Many people recognize Jim Carrey as the pet detective or the not so bright Lloyd Christmas, but
during his commencement speech to the graduating class of 2014 at the Maharishi University of
Management, he opens up to reveal a much deeper side of himself. While the speech he delivers is
permeated with his traditional humor, Carrey also inspires his audienceto think about how they
want to conduct their lives. Carrey presents an effective argument for persuading college
graduates who are entering the work field to not let fear control how they live. By successfully
employing anecdote, analogy, and audience engagement, Carrey entices his audience to be willing

Although he knew that his family could not afford a bike, he followed the advice of his
substitute teacher and prayed for one , and continued life normally, without particularly looking
for how this would be accomplished. Carrey then shares his later astonishment, saying, two
weeks later, I got home from school to find a brand new mustang bike with a banana seat and
easy rider handlebars because a friend had entered Carrey s name in a raffle without his
knowledge. With this experience, Carrey gives an example of his own outlook on life letting
the universe know what you want and working towards goals while letting go of how it might
come to pass has worked in his own life. Through sharing this positive experience, Carrey entices
his audience to refuse choosing fear when things seem impossible, and instead choose hope and
love. Carrey uses analogy as a method of expressing certain ideas to his audience. First, Carrey
conveys the unpredictability of life by using an analogy of a cat that will rub up against your leg
and purr until you pick her up and start pettin her, and out of nowhere she ll swat you in the face .

other aspects of life, this analogy helps students understand that life will be unpredictable; both

An Analysis Of Theodora And Attendants And Akhenaton,...
The theme of the two art works, Theodora and Attendants, and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three
Daughters, is Political Authority. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history,
and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the
time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are
ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these
pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these
cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton,
Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and
influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in
18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in
ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton
himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion
instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented
here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing
Aton. Pictured in this work is the PharaohAkhenaton and his family, yet it is not the stiff ceremonial

People communicate for more meaning than only for the words spoken. Sometimes what we

According to McLaughlin et al, (2008), the distance in proximity between people affects people s
levels of comfort and can cause anxiety.
Fear and lack of trust are among the most typical barriers to effective communication. People can be
hesitant to communicate in particular their thoughts as well as their feelings for fear of being
criticised, getting negative reactions, or getting an angry response. if people lack trust they might
be hesitant to communicate, not just their feelings and thoughts, but any ideas they might have.
For example, the situation was hugely affected by the service user s current emotions which
involved her family members constantly shouting and criticising her. She appeared nervous and
anxious especially whenever one of her parents came into the kitchen. It was evident that she was
not listening actively to what was being said. To be able to listen actively the listener is required
to be attentive (Jones, 2009; Smith, 2010; Xue, 2009). The service user was distracted and was not
as attentive as when it was just the two of us in the room.
Interpersonal barriers, otherwise referred to as personality clashes occur when relationships
between individuals are weak and not hamonial . As a result of this the confidence and mutual trust
in one another is low, therefore leading to emotional barriers set out above (Managing and

Impact On Technology
The advancements in technology have significantly altered our daily lives. As generations pass,
it is remarkable how technology has changed drastically as well as our behaviour towards it. On
a global scale, we are collecting many notable achievements through technology, and due to its
many benefits, our exposure to the wide variety of electronics is gradually increasing. In this
day and age, we have utilized technology more than ever before. Using these platforms more
frequently has led to both positive and negative outlooks in our lives. From using technology,
we have discovered a myriad of effective and dismissive situations regarding our lifestyle. For
example, we can now conveniently interact with each other, but at the same time, we also spend
too much time being on our technology. Although technology can disconnect us from our
experiences of reality, it can also provide an abundance of resources to obtain information from,
and it unifies us through multiple forms of mediums. Firstly, technology has detached us from
our experiences with our loved ones and our interests in the moment. By being increasingly
submerged in technology, it has created a rift in our society. Many people, as stated by
Alexandra Tendler of The Odyssey Online, are becoming more and more immersed in a digital
network that is webbed into every aspect of our daily lives. In other words, we are unaware of
how much of our daily actions revolve around technology, and how significantly it is

Criminal Justice Assembly Line
What Is the Criminal Justice Assembly Line?
The criminal justice assembly line was a term coined by justice expert Herbert Backer referring
to the system acting as a funnel or conveyor belt down which moves an endless stream of cases,
never stopping . . . most people who commit a crime escape detection, and of those who do not,
relatively few are bound over for trial, convicted, and eventually sentenced to prison (). The funnel
is wide at the top, and narrow at the bottom. View the entire process as a never ending series of 15
steps or decision points:
1. Initial Contact this step involves a police interaction such as, responding to complaints and calls
or observing a suspect committing a crime.
2. Investigation sufficient evidence, known as probable cause, must be gathered to identify and
support a legal arrest of a suspect.
3. Arrest The officer is not required to use the word arrest to initiate an arrest. For an arrest to be
considered legal, the following conditions need to exist. First, the officer has to have probable
cause, the legal requirement for an arrest. Second, the officer has to deprive the individual of
freedom, and lastly, the suspect believes that he or she is now in custody and has lost his or her
liberty.
4. Custody After an arrest, while detaining the suspect, the police may want to search for evidence,
conduct an interrogation, or encourage a confession.
5. Charge the next step is to charge the suspect. If sufficient evidence

Social Hierarchies In Ancient Mesopotamia
The main social hierarchies in ancient Mesopotamian societies tended to be very similar. In
general, everything revolved around the King and the upper class such as, priests, scribes,
merchants and artisans, and the majority of society consisted of commoners and slaves, whose
way of life revolved around farming. For example, The Code of Hammurabi, law 15 states, If a
man should enable a palace slave, a palace slave woman, a commoner s slave, or a commoner s
slave woman to leave through the main city gates, he shall be killed (p. 19). Another great
example is Law 112 that posits, If a merchant should give silver to a trading agent for an
investment venture, and he incurs a loss on his journeys, he shall return silver to the merchant in
the amount of the capital sum (p. 20). It is also important to note that the King was known to have

had to prove evidence of behavior and bring it before the judges. Law 169 describes this process,
If he should be guilty of a grave offense deserving the penalty of disinheritance by his father, they

Comparison Of Renaissance Art And Nativity With Adoration...
The Renaissance was a period of cultural innovation and rebirth that began in southern Europe and
slowly spread its influence to the north. Much like today, Renaissance artists were inspired by
history and other artists of their time. This is evident with two paintings tthat both feature Madonna
and Jesusas the main subjects, however presented with many differences. It is important to note
that artists in Italy were heavily inspired by the civilizations before them, such as the art of
classical Greece. Meanwhile, artists in the North were more inspired by Medieval art. Continuing
forward, Nativity with Adoration of the Shepherds (c. 1500) will be the first artwork examined
before moving to the Italian art.
Nativity with Adoration of the Shepherds was created by the Circle of Master of the Brunswick
Diptych, as referred to by the Denver Art Museum, and is of a modest size at only 23 by 33 . The
viewer is immediately drawn to the center panel where Mary is lingering over the newly born
Jesus. The representation of the very small Jesus depicts him as frail, yet the holy halo,
symbolizing the divine, surrounds his entire body as he lays on a fabric that is a part of Mary s
clothing while Jesus is resting on the ground. A third figure to the right of Mary also is
overlooking Jesus, however his body language is difficult to decipher due to the dull emotion the
man is evoking. Contextually, one can assume he is Joseph, and in awe of the birth of Jesus. What

Over the past hundred years, the topics of intertemporal price relationships and commodity storage
have yielded a diverse range of research questions, and a number of interrelated, yet sometimes
contradicting theories. This chapter gives a summary of the most influential theories on these
subjects, and relates them to the thesis. The four main themes identified are the theory of normal
backwardation, the theory of price of storage, the theory of competitive storage and the spatial
temporal interpretation of storage. The main contributions to the literature will be grouped along
these themes, in a more or less chronological order. It must be noted that with the passage of time,
competing commodity storage theories evolved and interacted with one another in a way that

Constraints, or obstructions, offer a new form of a piece of art work. They are a way of creative
innovation. In the film The Five Obstructions, constraints were used to combat Jorgen Leth s writer

offer a different perspective through potential forms of art, which is the basis of Oulipo.
Restriction of what an artist can work with actually opens doors of creativityand new art forms.
In The Five Obstructions, Director Lars von Trier advises Jorgen Leth on his work. Von Trier
creates the first two obstructions for Leth. Leth proficiently completes the first constraint.
However, von Trier criticizes Leth for using a translucent screen in the second constraint. I found
Leth s use of the screen to be creative, but von Trier stuck to his guns and did not want any people

was so that there was a consistency within the film. However, I appreciated Leth s creativity with

not have any number quota on how many internationals can secure a full time employment there.
There are three categories for work permit there. For individuals graduating out of a Hong Kong
university, under the Immigration Arrangement for Non local Graduates (IANG). It is valid for
1 year but can be renewed further. If you apply within the first six months of graduation, you
may not even require an offer letter to get a visa. If, for some reason, you apply after the first six

The Effects Of Energy Drinks On The Human Body
The effects of energy drinks once poured in the human body Once you consume an energy drink
your whole body is affected including you brain, your bloodstream, your heart, and your skin.
Energy drinks are really bad for you if you drink it a lot; they say it could affect how you work out
because energy drinks lead to sugar crashes. You don t want to work out and in the middle of your
work out, you get tired all of the sudden, if you drinkone after you work out you would just get
tired and you will start to crash. My opinion you should not drink energy drinks at all while
working out. The things they put in it, it s just not worth drinking it during your work out There
are a lot of effects energy drinks can do to your brain, for example Fox health says Caffeineblocks
the effects of adenosine. A brain chemical that helps you sleep (which is why too much can lead
to insomnia)now, think about it your sleep is affected, if you drink a lot of energy drinks it will
mess up your sleeping habits. Most people drink it when they work nights to allow them to stay
up. Most energy drinks are not FDA approved that means ta it s not healthy to drink it. It also if
you chug one of them you could get hospitalized because all that sugar poured in the body and all
the ingredients that is cause you to stay up and keep you going that is not good for you. My
opinion is people don t know what they are putting in there body. It can affectyou brain they can

How Did Charles Starkweather Murder
Charles Starkweather (murder) Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate went on a murder
spree, killing eleven people, over the course of less than two months. Charles was sentenced to
death by the electric chair, and Fugate did 18 years in prison. I will focus on Charles s story.
Charles did not come from a rich family. He had 6 siblings, and his family barely had enough
money to afford a house with them. They never went without clothes, had to skip a meal, or live
on the streets, but they certainly didn t have much. Even so, his family loved him, and wasn t
abusive. Charles was a good child. When Charles was only a small child he was thought to be
stupid, but later in his life it would be discovered that he only had severe myopia. While he was in
school, he was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had no idea what she was doing, and accidentally wrecked Charles s car. The car was given
to him by his father, even though his family had very little money. Charles s father was
infuriated by the fact that Charles had let the car get damaged. This led to a major argument,
and even a short physical fight, and led to Charles being kicked out of the house. Charles would
never be welcomed back. Charles got a job at the newspaper warehouse, but he wasn t a good
employee. His boss and co workers believed he was stupid. He would fail to complete even the
simplest of tasks. He made barely enough to pay rent, and sometimes it wasn t even enough for
that. When rent wasn t in on time, his landlord would lock him out. The one reason he chose that
job was because he worked right next to Caril s school, and he could see her as soon as she got
out every day. Charles went to the gas station one day to get Caril a plush bear. The only problem
was he could not afford it. He wanted to buy it on credit, but the cashier would not let him,
because his job prohibited using credit. Charles was infuriated by this, so he left the gas station,
and planned how he d get

The Ramayana Family Role
The Ramayana
Hindus are extremely respectful and prideful people with many strong core beliefs. These beliefs
have been passed down through the ages in The Ramayana. Throughout this epic poem, Rama, his
family, and many others exemplify what it means to be Hindu. Rama is considered to be a perfect
Hindu and follows all aspects of Hinduism flawlessly. This includes following duty, honor,
responsibilities based on a person s place in society, and most important to Rama, family. In the epic
The Ramayana, family is portrayed as the most important aspect to the Hindu belief. The
importance of family is shown early in the epic when King Dasaratha begs of Viswamithra to not

He even risked his life by battling Ravana in order to save her. After Rama defeated Ravana and
saved Sita, he not only became King again, he was made Emperor of the World. He requested
that his trustworthy brother Lakshmana become the yuvaraja, or prince, though he ultimately

brothers were perpetually loyal to Rama and could not have loved him more. They were furious
when they heard he was banished and would no longer become crowned king. Lakshmana,
outraged, threw on his battle robe and weapons and was ready to take on a whole army to see
that Rama was crowned king, as he rightfully should be. He even stated, I know no father and no
mother, other than you. (Narayan, 52) He loved his brother so much that he saw him as greater
than his own parents, who gave him life. Lakshmana would have died at any moment for his
brother Rama; this is why he decided to leave with Rama on his banishment and swore to protect
him with his life. Rama s other brother Bharata, who was away at the time, was also appalled
when he heard the news of Rama being banished. It was Bharata s mother who banished Rama
and when he found out that it was she who was responsible he told her, If I do not snuff your
wretched life out with my own hand, do not pride yourself that it s because you are my mother,
but you are spared because Rama would despise me for my

Essay On Coronary Artery Anomaly
A coronary artery anomaly (CAA) is defined as a congenital coronary artery malformation in the
absence of other congenital cardiac defects. As we continue to lack a screening tool to diagnose
CAAs, catheter directed angiography remains the gold standard both for diagnosis and treatment
of CAAs. Intervening CAAs continues to remain a complicated task even in the hands of
experienced operators. The greatest challenged faced in the management of CAAs is a delay in
recognition largely due to the element of surprise associated with their low prevalence. Other major
factors which pose a challenge during CAA interventions are the location of the coronary ostium
within the aorta, the proximal course of the vessel, and angulation of the vessel. We discuss... Show

Mental Illness And Gun Violence In America
Mental Illness and Gun Violence in America
On the night of October 1, 2017, Jason Aldean took to the stage as the final act of what would
have been an epic conclusion to the Route 91 Harvest music festival. With 22,000 attendees, the
festival consisted of three days of laughter, alcohol, and everyone s favorite country music. The
audience was packed tightly around the stage, dancing and singing as Aldean strummed his
guitar. It was then that 64 year old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd from the 32nd
floor of his Mandalay Bay hotel room. At the end of his rampage, 58 people were left dead and
489 injured in what is being called the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. This act
of senseless violence has left law enforcement and victims scouring for answers as to why such a
devastating act was perpetrated. Since Paddock was found dead in his hotel room from a self
inflicted gunshot wound, authorities have unveiled a life of gambling, fantasies of violence, and a
neglected childhood, all stoking the question: Was mental illness to blame? Though this conclusion
is one that US policymakers, journalists, and the general public tend to align themselves with,
psychiatric research and gun violence statistics state otherwise.
Politics And Assumptions In the aftermath of mass shootings, the United States democratic and
political discourse oftentimes concentrates on the impact of mental illness. For instance, the media
did not hesitate to diagnose Dylann Roof,

Features And Functions Of Any Interconnection Devices That...
In this report I will be outlining the features and functions of any interconnection devices that you
might think of using. In the report I will include Network Interface Card, Router, Switch, Hubs,
Gateway, Bridge and Wireless access points.
Network Interface Card
This provides the hardware interface between a network and computer. It is technically a network
adapter hardware in the form factor of an add in card like a PCI or PCMI card. A number of
network interface cards work with wired connection and some others are wireless. The majority of
network interface cards support either wired Ethernet or Wi Fi wireless standards. Ethernet network
interface cards plug into the system bus of the computer and have jacks for network cables, and
wifi network interface cards have built in transmitters/ receivers. With modern computers many
network interface cards are preinstalled by the manufacturer. All networks interface cards have a
speed rating like 11 Mbps, 54 Mbps or 100 Mbps that imply the general performance of the unit.
Router
A router is a small physical device that can join multiple PCs together. A router is basically a 3
gateway layer device, this means that it can connect two or more networks and that the router
operates at the network layer of the OSI model. Home networks normally use a wireless or wired
internet protocol router, internet protocol being the most familiar OSI network layer protocol. An
internet protocol router like a DSL or cable modem broadband

Language Use And Acquisition Is Affected By Social Factors...
Introduction
The aim of this research is to analyze and discover the way language is used and acquired using
the hypothesis that language use and acquisition is affected by social factors relating to
environment as well as cultural norms and values. Questions that will be explored include: In what
settings are different languages used? How are second and third languages acquired? How do
attitudes towards language learning contribute to the success or failure in learning a new language?
How does context affect language learning? What role does the availability of resources play in
second or third language acquisition? What kind of emotional and cultural ties to different
languages exist? This research was conducted through a one on one in depth interview with a
Glendon student who is Filipino and speaks Tagalog, French, and has some experience learning
sign language. The main focus of this research was to discover how the student learns and uses
Tagalog and French as secondary languages.
Literature Overview The role of how social factors affect language is becoming an increasing area
of interest. Linguist Dell Hymes coined the term communicative competence to describe the theory
that appropriate contexts for language use have on effect on use and acquisition. This is contrary to
Noam Chomsky s claim that there are innate language mechanisms and that the consideration of
social factors is not relevant to the study of linguistics (Celce Murcia, 2008 p.42). The role

Australian Landscape
Patrick White s novel, Voss (1957) tells the story of a nineteenth century German explorer s journey
into the Australian landscape. In this essay, I will examine the attitudes and assumptions towards
the Australian landscape over the past 200+ years, and evaluate what has changed in these contexts.
Attitudes can depend on many cultures, these cultures can differentiate depending on things such as
gender, attitude to the outdoors, individuality, conquest, religion, being urban or rural and drought.
These are only a few of the hundreds of different cultures that can affect attitudes and assumptions
towards Australian landscapes.
The extract depicts that the interaction with the landscape is very European based. When Laura

(Clode 2006), then discusses that although many parks were explicitly designed to protect areas
of great natural beauty and value, it was rare for parks to be established in the face of competing
commercial interests (p.14). This led to the Little Desert dispute in 1967 and changed the system of
public lands. It galvanised public opinion, and the environment threatened, became a major issue in
the 1970 elections. This can be seen as a culture of time and circumstances. 1970 can be seen as the
hippie , controversial age of people that wanted to protect the environment and this is a culture that
has changed the future.
The 1970 election then lead to an increase in size and number of national parks, the establishment
of an environmental protection agency, and from then on the future of Victoria s public lands was
to be decided rationally, scientifically and critically on the basis of scientific research and public
opinion. (Clode 2006) and this is evidence that Australian cultural assumptions and attitudes have

Peterville Theatre History
Other than being able to prove a seemingly impossible job possible, the team dedicated their
hearts to the interior design as well. The building would be a historical landmark, so why not
make it as beautiful as possible right? Not only does it have a 4,200 seat theater, but it also had
a beautiful hotel and stylish office building. It has a 17 story tall tower and had ground level
commercial storefronts on Congress and Wabash ave. The building has exquisite designs, stained
glass, amazing woodwork, floor tile work, a gilt ceiling, and is said to be, the perfect bridge
between the 19th and 20th centuries . This theatre was created with many elements that allowed the

first theatres to have both heating and air conditioning, this meant it could function all year round.
The Auditorium Theatre is known throughout the world for its perfect acoustics. Every single
interior element was carefully considered, contributing to brilliant acoustics and amplified sounds.

  • 2. Two Point Discrimination Lab Report Exercise 3: Two point discrimination The two point discrimination experiment explored how the density of tactile receptors varies across the body. The experimenter utilized an unfolded metal paper clip bent in a U shape and touched the two points of it to one of the areas tested (palm, back of hand, fingertip, back of forearm, back). The subject looked away and noted whether she felt one or two points of the paper clip. The experimenter continued to widen the distance between the two ends of the paper clip until the subject perceived two distinct points of the paperclip on the body. The subject perceived two points most easily on the fingertip (3mm) and less readily on the back (16mm) (Table 1). The temperature sensing component of thermoreceptors are transient receptor potential proteins (TRPs); varying isoforms open and depolarize the thermoreceptor in response to specific temperature ranges. Thermoreceptors experience sensory adaptation, or decreased firing frequency of action potentials, when exposed to a prolonged stimulus. The temperature sensitivity of the receptor changes and thus a colder water bin would be necessary to elicit a perception of cold after adaptation. When the subject placed both hands in the room temperature bin, the left hand that was exposed to cold water perceived the room temperature bin as warm because the change in temperature was strong enough to induce the desensitized thermoreceptors to fire increased rates of action potentials. The right hand that was exposed to warm water experienced a perception of cold as its desensitized thermoreceptors were resensitized and increased action potential frequency due to the significant change in ... • 3. Sensors Allocation Fault Introduction Background A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of distributed sensors to monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or detect dimensions, to pass their data through the network to a base station for processing. Advantages of WSN over a wired system considered in elimination of wiring cost, sensors can be installed in harsh environments. Each sensor node is a combination of Radio transceiver with an internal antenna or connection to an external antenna micro controller, electronic circuit for interfacing with the sensors, energy source, usually a battery or an embedded form of energy harvesting. Drawback of using sensors is having limited power to consume, a memory that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this solution is not optimal neither it is minimal. To provide a better solution a collaboration of different parameter sensors is used to both minimize and optimize sensor usage. Figure 2 describes a 3 axis graph of the boxes, the x axis is dimension, the y axis is the color and the z axis is the weight. Figure 2a, 2b and 2c maps objects by the x y, y z and x z respectively. There 11 different possible sensor positions using the 3 parameters shown in a light grey dashed line on figure 2 graphs. Using the code described in section 3, the solution set resulted in using a total of 3 sensors (d3, w1, c2) shown on a solid line in figure 2 graphs. This subset of sensors happens to be both the optimal and minimal solution. Proposed solution: The following section describes the code developed to find an optimal sensor solution. The first step is to consider the cost of each sensor used. The minimal sensor subset is the set with the lowest cost. The equation [1] describes the cost of the sensor, which simply is the summation of each of the used sensors. As described previously, most sensors used in this technique are simple and there is no significant difference in their cost. Thereby since sensors of different parameter are of the same cost, it is more effective to consider the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Is Elementary School So Important To Me My elementary school years, to me, and I think a lot of people could agree with that. I have literally zero good memories from my grade school years. The only things that comes to mind when i even think of elementary school are upset teachers, disappointing grades, and terribly mean students. I was aЛњ very hyper active child but a lot of teachers mistakened my hyperness for a bad apple. This led to a lot of phone calls home, letters to my mom, and my desk being seated next to or in front of my teacher. It was horrible, to have a teacher scold you over and over for doing something you are not in control of. There were a lot of recess missed and lot of things written 50 to 100 times. It was almost depressing. If it weren t for my incredible imagination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I remember one recess I nearly broke my fingers trying to write I will be quiet in class 50 times just to go out and play with the other kids. But because of my AdHd I failed and missed it. It almost killed my spirit to see everyone play and even kids that that had to do the same assignment were finishing before me. When Second grade came I had went to two schools. The first one was a catholic school that I hated and still hate now. They didn t have a cafeteria and most importantly they didn t have a playscape. They made me wear some stupid dress code that i wouldn t mind much today but back then I had a burning passion of furry against wearing the white collars and snap on ties that simulated the exact feeling of being slowly choked by an angry toddler. And if that wasn t enough, because it was a catholic school my teacher was a mean pric. It wasn t just her actions, it also was how she looked. I mean like I know that not everyone loves their job but emulating how much you don t like it doesn t help. Especially if your job is teaching a class of 2nd graders. But to top it off, we had to go to this boring church that was right next to the school and give money every time we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Acculturation In America Acculturation is the process of how a person or a group of people adapt into another culture by taking small pieces of that culture into their own culture. It is the idea of blend in with another culture, other than your own. For example, my family and relatives came to the United States for a little over 10 years now and some of the family members have assimilated into the American culture by beginning to celebrate the holidays, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Further, we are remaining embedded in the ethnic of being Hmong. Many of us decided to come to America to obtain a better lifestyle, and the America society has greatly impact our life to assimilate into the American culture. The society and community influence our behaviors of what we like, see, do and act as a child with or without our parents authority. For instance, if the parents choose to raise their children in an urban environment with a lot of opportunities to make money via street crime, then those young children have a likelihood of becoming involve with that sort of lifestyle. Because the youngsters are pure and innocent, they are sensitive to everything around them. They are conscious taking pieces of another culture into their own and their lifestyle start to change, include customs, beliefs, behaviors, and value. In addition, the parents choices and the community or environment have great influence on young children s life and development. A lot of the products in store are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In verse 11 he asks Are you the king of the Jews? in which Jesus replied You have said so. Pilate continues the interrogation after the elders and the high priest have concluded their testimonies against Jesus. An element of irony is introduced as Pilate is amazed that Jesus made no rebuttal against such claims. Pontius Pilateprobes further in verse 13 and asks Don t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you? Ironically, Jesus gave no response. Why was Jesus remaining silent? Possibly, due to the crowd s obvious people power there was no response that would have satisfied the hostile climate. Furthermore, Jesus predicted his death many... The crowd responds Crucify Him now obtaining the needed power of the governor. At this point, the governor has completely lost his authority and his weakness is shown in verse 23 where he questions the crowd and does not get a response to the prosed question. This general method has led to understanding of dynamic performance of PWM converters. However, the state space method is sometimes tedious, especially when the converter circuit contains a large number of elements [6]. To overcome some of the problems mentioned above, a signal flow graph (SFG) nonlinear graphical modeling method was developed for PWM converters [7]. The advantages of this method over other methods are: (i) it converts the switching converter into a uniп¬Ѓed dynamic model, (ii) from uniп¬Ѓed model, it is possible to derive large, small signal and steady state models, (iii) it is easier to arrive at small signal models with minimum mathematical manipulations, (iv) it is possible to derive various relationships among the circuit variables without any diп¬ѓculty, (v) it is possible to incorporate the cause and eп¬Ђect relationship of the dynamics etc. This SFG method M. This event that occurred on April 16, 2007 brought great pain to our country but this was not a pain that was unfamiliar. Mass shooting is something that we as a nation have dealt with for a while and on April 16, 2007 was no different. This massacre left 32 dead including the shooter himself, 23 year old, Seung Hui Cho. To really understand how to put an end to mass shooting one must analyze what happened here it is necessary to look into the shooters life and the victims he took. It is also important to know the events that lead up to the shooting, what happened during the shooting and also after. • 15. Historical Development Of Urban Development Introduction In the context of urban history, infrastructure can make or break a community. In the United States, the historical development of urban infrastructure has both formed and followed the inscriptions of race, class, and gender on the urban landscape. Ample in more affluent communities, usually absent or minimal in historic concentrations of urban poverty, infrastructure does not serve its public equally. Some cities have a more equitable distribution of infrastructure than others, but many urban neighborhoods remain woefully underserved, (Avila 4 5). My hometown of Tolleson, Arizona is a small cityof six thousand, five hundred residents with a predominantly Mexican population, with nearly 78% of the residents declaring themselves as Mexican in the 2010 census. • 16. A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift Analysis Imagine everyday stepping foot outside and witnessing children as well as their mothers on every street corner begging for food and clothing. These items are everyday necessities that people had to beg for because they could not afford to take care of themselves and their children. For example, most children in today s society could not imagine living without three meals everyday. Their parents provide and nurture for them as well as give them clean clothes to change into everyday. This goes to show children living in present day are far better off than children living in the time period of swift s poem. • 17. Cause Of Plastic Pollution The following poem illustrates the problem of pollution, focusing on plastic, in the marine environment. The best place to be is next to the sea where tired feet gladly greet, sand so soft and white. The taste of salty air, a cool breeze blowing through untied hair, Warmth all around, from the sun beaming down, against a backdrop of majestic blue. Hear the birds sing, the waves crashing, And know one thing is true. The ocean is drowning in a sea of plastic, Before long marine life will be in a casket. The beauty of the beach will be no more Once plastic covers the shore. Birds are entangled, turtles are endangered, trash litters the ocean floor. A plan of action needs to be taken with all humans participating. Oceans are water, water is life, and right now life is suffocating. Plastics currently represent the vast majority of human made debris present in the oceans (Reisser, Shaw, Wilcox, Hardersty, Proietti, Thums, Pattiaratchi, n.d., p.1). According to Sigler (2014), the magnitude of plastic pollution carried to sea has significantly multiplied over the past several decades (p. 2). Due to this increase in plastic pollution, oceans are becoming increasingly dangerous to marine wildlife, the environment and human health; which is why policies that ban plastic bags and single use, disposable dishes are crucial to the sustainability of Earth s water supply. Besides being unsightly, plastic in the oceans cause major detrimental effects to marine life. Animals can get entangled or even die from ingestion. Globally, at least 23% of marine mammal species, 36% of seabird species, and 86% of sea turtle species are known to be affected by plastic debris (Sigler, 2014, p. 3). Some plastic in the ocean gets broken down into smaller pieces that become increasingly toxic, which then get eaten by fish, and following the food chain end up effecting human health (Reisser et al., n.d., p. 2). Multiple studies have proven that single use, disposable plastic is the most common type of litter found in the oceans. Annually almost 280 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, the majority of consumer products used today are comprised of some form of plastic (Sigler, 2014, p. 1). • 18. 3d Printing Versus Traditional Manufacturing Techniques 3D printing has been used in different aspects of every field but mostly its application has been limited to making prototypes. 3D printing versus Traditional Manufacturing techniques in almost every field is still very debatable. One such area which I would like to explore in terms of functionality and cost effectiveness would be the Construction Industry. The last time a global survey for homelessness was attempted by the United Nations in 2005 an estimated 100 million people were homeless worldwide. As many as 1.6 billion people lacked adequate housing [1]. In the United States, on a single night in January 2015, 564,708 people were experiencing homelessness meaning they were sleeping outside or in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program [2]. In 2013, the Slum population in India went up from 52 million to 65 million and it has been predicted to rise to 104 million [3]. Looking at the statistics, the main cause for homelessness could be contributed to cost of affordable housing. Another example that could be considered could be of people living in disaster prone areas where people lose their houses overnight. In such scenarios, 3D printing could be a viable solution where houses could be printed in a couple of days as compared to traditional construction methods where people need to seek out emergency shelters till their houses are built. Also, 3D printing a house gives Architects ability to design and build structures which are complex geometrically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Second, human mobility modeling is reproduce patterns about human mobility activities, and the reason why modeling human mobility is it can help to solve a lot of problems. These problems are very important in nowadays. For example, traffic forecasting can forecast traffic situation in different streets and give drivers the best path to destination. Urban planning can help improving the urban areas. Epidemics modeling can predicate how epidemics such like flu moved and how to control it. Then Mr. Filho introduced the two different levels of human mobility. The first one we call it individual level, which is a micro level. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history, and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in 18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing Aton. Fear and lack of trust are among the most typical barriers to effective communication. People can be hesitant to communicate in particular their thoughts as well as their feelings for fear of being criticised, getting negative reactions, or getting an angry response. if people lack trust they might be hesitant to communicate, not just their feelings and thoughts, but any ideas they might have. For example, the situation was hugely affected by the service user s current emotions which involved her family members constantly shouting and criticising her. On a global scale, we are collecting many notable achievements through technology, and due to its many benefits, our exposure to the wide variety of electronics is gradually increasing. In this day and age, we have utilized technology more than ever before. Using these platforms more frequently has led to both positive and negative outlooks in our lives. These are more loosely connected to the broad topics of intertemporal price relationships and commodity storage, but are closely related to the study. The chapter is concluded with a summary of observations about the development of intertemporal price relationships and the driving forces behind, approaching from a practical, grain industry focussed ... In her old age, she had failed to keep up payments for five storage lockers rooms where she stuffed art books, newspaper clippings and home. The lockers were emptied and their contents auctioned off. Von Trier creates the first two obstructions for Leth. Leth proficiently completes the first constraint. However, von Trier criticizes Leth for using a translucent screen in the second constraint. I found Leth s use of the screen to be creative, but von Trier stuck to his guns and did not want any people to be shown from Mumbai, India. Mental Illness And Gun Violence In America Mental Illness and Gun Violence in America On the night of October 1, 2017, Jason Aldean took to the stage as the final act of what would have been an epic conclusion to the Route 91 Harvest music festival. With 22,000 attendees, the festival consisted of three days of laughter, alcohol, and everyone s favorite country music. The audience was packed tightly around the stage, dancing and singing as Aldean strummed his guitar. It was then that 64 year old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd from the 32nd floor of his Mandalay Bay hotel room. At the end of his rampage, 58 people were left dead and 489 injured in what is being called the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. This act of senseless violence has left law enforcement and victims scouring for answers as to why such a devastating act was perpetrated. Since Paddock was found dead in his hotel room from a self inflicted gunshot wound, authorities have unveiled a life of gambling, fantasies of violence, and a neglected childhood, all stoking the question: Was mental illness to blame? Though this conclusion is one that US policymakers, journalists, and the general public tend to align themselves with, psychiatric research and gun violence statistics state otherwise. In the report I will include Network Interface Card, Router, Switch, Hubs, Gateway, Bridge and Wireless access points. Network Interface Card This provides the hardware interface between a network and computer. It is technically a network adapter hardware in the form factor of an add in card like a PCI or PCMI card. A number of network interface cards work with wired connection and some others are wireless. The majority of network interface cards support either wired Ethernet or Wi Fi wireless standards. Ethernet network interface cards plug into the system bus of the computer and have jacks for network cables, and wifi network interface cards have built in transmitters/ receivers. With modern computers many network interface cards are preinstalled by the manufacturer. All networks interface cards have a speed rating like 11 Mbps, 54 Mbps or 100 Mbps that imply the general performance of the unit. Router A router is a small physical device that can join multiple PCs together. A router is basically a 3 gateway layer device, this means that it can connect two or more networks and that the router operates at the network layer of the OSI model. Introduction The aim of this research is to analyze and discover the way language is used and acquired using the hypothesis that language use and acquisition is affected by social factors relating to environment as well as cultural norms and values. Questions that will be explored include: In what settings are different languages used? How are second and third languages acquired? How do attitudes towards language learning contribute to the success or failure in learning a new language? How does context affect language learning? What role does the availability of resources play in second or third language acquisition? What kind of emotional and cultural ties to different languages exist? This research was conducted through a one on one in depth interview with a Glendon student who is Filipino and speaks Tagalog, French, and has some experience learning sign language. The main focus of this research was to discover how the student learns and uses Tagalog and French as secondary languages. Literature Overview The role of how social factors affect language is becoming an increasing area of interest. Linguist Dell Hymes coined the term communicative competence to describe the theory that appropriate contexts for language use have on effect on use and acquisition. This is contrary to Noam Chomsky s claim that there are innate language mechanisms and that the consideration of social factors is not relevant to the study of linguistics (Celce Murcia, 2008 p.42).
