Shirley Trash Analyzer
Presented By…
141-23-3756 Habibur Rahman
Introduction
To determine the percentage of trash, lint and dust content within
a sample of raw cotton, Blow room lap, carding sliver etc. and to
open and clean fibres for further testing.
Features
50/100 gram samples at the opening rate of 16+
grams lint per minute.
Compact, aerodynamic shape, silent operation
and nonpolluting nature boosts laboratory
environment.
Digital monitor based user friendly operating
system.
Solid-state control electrical system to enhance
feasibility an operator safety.
Safety
While designing this instrument, great care has been taken
to minimize the risk of operator injury. However it user
disregrated the sefety precautions, then there is a risk of
damage.

Atmospheric & sample condition
Standard practice for conditioning textile for
testing. The standard atmosphere having a
relative humidity of 65±2% and at a
temperature of 27±2ºC must be maintained.
For international testing, ISO 139 may be
used.
Installation
Instrument should keep on the flat floor. It is essential that the
instrument should be perpendicularly to spirit level. Care should be
taken not to expose the instrument to any unnecessary conditions such
as vibration, moisture, dust or heat.
Pre-requisition and installation:
Suitable working table
Precision electronic balance.
Stabilized three phase 415v AC @ 50 Hz ported at switched terminal.
Suitable qualified operator and test samples.
Sample preparation
 The test cotton of 50/100 gram mass will be using to determine the trash.
 During handling the sample, care must be taken for opening of the cotton and loss of
heavy material such as send, metal particles should not be inserted in to the feeding
parts.
 Before weighing, the sample use must be kept at the standard atmosphere for a
minimum of 4 hours.
 Use the cotton tray for the weighted cotton at the time of 50 or 100 gram testing.
 While opening the cotton use the feeding tray & cotton tray and ensure the trash
particle should be inserted in the feeding tray along with cotton.
