See the Light
The only way to understand the implications of daylight on a building design is to either build physical models of the building and study it in a heliodon, or to generate computer models of the building. It is critical to model the space properly to predict the performance of an engineered solution.
The radiance daylighting simulations will demonstrate how diffuses natural light thereby reducing contrast (glare) and increasing the overall ambient light level.
Provides complimentary daylighting simulations in a report format which will:
– educate project stakeholders
– demonstrate design intent and daylighting value to your client
– provide your lighting designers with valuable data
– maximize integration between natural and artificial lighting

The Mycenaean civilization flourished during the period roughly between 1600 BC. It perished with the collapse of bronze age civilization in the eastern Mediterranean.
The Maya civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization.
Maya civilization Is well known for its art, architecture, mathematics, calendar, and astronomical system.
Three types of structures are associated with the religious architecture of early Buddhism: monasteries (viharas), places to venerate relics (stupas), and shrines or prayer halls (chaitya halls, also called chaitya grihas)
Natural ventilation is the process of supplying and removing air through an indoor space by natural means, meaning without the use of a fan or other mechanical system. It uses outdoor air flow caused by pressure differences between the building and its surrounding to provide ventilation and space cooling.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.

2. FUNCTION OF SHADING DEVICES
Solar radiation entering a room can have three effects :
• Radiation absorbed on to room surfaces will lead to an increase in air
temperature.
• Solar radiation falling directly on to an occupant will lead to an increase in
the mean radiant temperature experienced.
• High intensities of radiation from direct sun or even the diffused sky can
cause discomfort glare, or disability glare where an occupant’s visual
performance will actually be impaired.
The function of shading is to eliminate these three effects.
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi 2
3. •The use of shading device is an important aspect of many high-performance building design
strategies.
• It has been proved that the use of shading device could improve building energy performance,
prevent glare, increase useful daylight availability (between 100~2000lux) and create a sense of
security.

4. USE OF SHADING DEVICES
Solar controls should be considered for all glazed openings exposed to direct
sunlight. Solar control is particularly important on south to west-facing
facades, since the solar gains will coincide with the hottest part of the day.
Solar control is also vital for lightweight buildings with large areas of glazing.
When sunlight hits a pane of glass, it splits into three components –
that which is reflected,
that which is absorbed and
that which is transmitted through.
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi 4
5. Realizing these potential benefits, a varied of shading configurations have
been invented and put in the market, such as
• Fixed
• Manual and
• Automatic movable
• Internal and external shading device.
Accordingly, many simulation tools have been developed to support shading
design.
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi 5
6. Exterior shading device
•Exterior shading device is primary used to control sunlight penetration to the interior of
buildings.
•Such shading devices are always attached on the mullion as a separate component of building
envelop, but can also be achieved by disposition of the building floors to create overhangs.
•Exterior shading device decrease direct beam penetration by projecting shadow on the window
along the sunlit direction;
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi

7. HORIZONTAL SHADING DEVICES - OVERHANGS
• These are placed horizontally in front of the window, in various
ways.
• Their, shape, type, depth and height all differs, all depending on
the sun conditions. A window overhang is a (usually) horizontal
surface that juts out over a window to shade it from the sun.
This is desirable in order to reduce glare or solar heat gain
during warm seasons.
• In temperate climates, where there are warm and cool seasons
due to the tilt of the earth's axis of rotation in relation to the
plane of its orbit, it is often desirable to shade a window during
hot summer months but to allow sunlight to shine through a
window in the winter to help warm a building. Because the sun
is higher in the sky in the summer than the winter, it is possible
for a fixed overhang to accomplish both summer shading and
winter sunlight admission.
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi 7
8. Types of exterior shading device
Two basic types of exterior shading device
are
• Horizontal &
•Vertical
Various combination of these creates
many configurations to accommodate
different envelop shapes and orientations.
Each orientation of the building requires a different approach to the design of shading. Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi

Other shading devices
Besides attaching shading device on exterior of
building envelop, many other ways can also
prevent sun light from penetrating to the interior of
buildings.
•Interior shading device
•Building self-shading
•Shaded by trees and other obstructions
13. SHADING FROM SURROUNDINGS
Buildings can provide useful shade on nearby structures.
A building may be designed with the best intentions but if
the buildings around are not kept in mind then, it might
become totally shaded and cold at certain times of the
day.
In the same way, trees and vegetation can be used to
provide shade when it is beneficial.
Shading from buildings
Presentation By- Ar. Roopa Chikkalgi 15
14. Shading from vegetation
• Vegetation is infact a powerful tool in
shading, as well as in reducing solar
radiation, wind and precipitation and
trees planted well can save up to 30
percent of a building's total energy
requirement.
• Trees and vegetation can be used to
provide shade where it is seasonally
beneficial. In hot places, plants and
trees, planted in front of a window
dos not only reduce solar radiation
but the evaporation process also
helps to cool the air.
• In winter, properly placed trees and
shrubs shield your home from cold
winds, reducing heat loss by 10 to 30
percent.
