School Uniform Argument Essay
1. School Uniform Argument Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of school uniforms can be both challenging and thought-
provoking. On one hand, it requires a careful examination of various perspectives surrounding
the issue. Supporters argue that uniforms promote a sense of unity, equality, and discipline
among students. They believe that a standardized dress code minimizes socioeconomic
differences and fosters a focused learning environment. On the other hand, opponents contend
that enforcing uniforms infringes upon students' individuality and freedom of expression. They
argue that allowing students to choose their attire helps them develop a sense of identity and
autonomy.
To write a compelling argument essay, one must delve into research to gather evidence
supporting or refuting these claims. This involves exploring academic studies, anecdotal
evidence, and expert opinions to build a well-rounded understanding of the topic. Crafting a
thesis statement that clearly outlines the stance taken in the essay is crucial, as it serves as the
guiding principle for the entire piece.
Navigating through the complexities of the argument requires critical thinking and the ability to
present a coherent and logical progression of ideas. The writer must carefully structure the essay,
addressing counterarguments and providing counterpoints to strengthen their position. Balancing
emotional appeals with factual information adds depth and persuasiveness to the essay.
Moreover, attention to language and style is essential to engage the reader and convey the
arguments effectively. The essay should be well-organized, with each paragraph contributing to
the overall argument and maintaining a cohesive flow. Addressing potential objections and
counterarguments helps anticipate readers' concerns, making the essay more convincing.
In conclusion, crafting a school uniform argument essay demands not only solid research and
analytical skills but also the ability to articulate a compelling narrative. The writer must navigate
through the intricacies of the topic, addressing various perspectives while presenting a well-
supported and coherent argument. It is a task that requires careful consideration of both sides of
the debate to produce a nuanced and persuasive piece.

2. Associate Degree-Prepared Nurse Analysis
In 1860, Florence Nightingale founded the first modern nursing school to break the
stigma of previous nursing views and provide appropriate training to nurses
(Finkelman Kenner, 2016). Since then, the nursing profession has dramatically
evolved over the last centuries. In 1965, the AACN recommended that nurses should
receive at least a baccalaureate degree before entering practice to meet the
accelerating need for nurses in other areas, such as health promotion and disease
prevention, case management, and managed care settings (AACN, 2000). However,
the AACN is not trying to not seek to limit the role of the associate degree prepared
nursein the practice setting (AACN, 2000). In fact, the AACN believes that
Associate degree prepared nurses play an import role in the delivery of healthcare
(AACN, 2000). Today, most hospitals prefer to hire BSN holder nurses. Since 2005,
the Veteran s Administration has set a baccalaureate degree a minimum requirement
in addition to committing to invest $50 million over the next five years to help VA
nurses obtain baccalaureate or higher nursing degrees (AACN, 2000). As a result of
the new implementations, the number of new BSN graduates from 1975 to 1999 has

3. Plot Summary Of Delia By Zora Neale Hurston
In this story, I would assume this happened in the 1950s or 1960s where the black
were still servants of whites in the south. Delia, the main character in the story
worked as a servant, she wanted to get ahead of her work so she brought her clothes
home with her to wash. Delia husband Sykes, did not like white peoplein any way
shape or form. Tension and conflict that arose was that Delia separated the clothes
into colors, Sykes kicked them back together so she would have to arrange the
colors all over again. The Tension started when Delia brought home the white people
s clothes, this caused Sykes to become angry. When Sykes kicked the clothes that
caused the conflict between the two characters. I think tone comes into play in this
story to help find out if there s conflict or not.... Show more content on

I also think the dialogue between the two characters were a big help on discovering

that conflict would be arising to by the way they re talking to each
4. Theodore Roosevelt Research Paper
Theodore Roosevelt is said to have been one of the greatest presidents ever.
Theodore Roosevelt expanded the role of the presidency into foreign affairs by using
The Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, this stated that the U.S. had the
right to oppose European intervention in the western hemisphere and also to intervene
itself in the domestic affairs of its neighbors. This was brought about when the
government of Venezuela stopped paying their debts to European bankers. As a result
European naval forces formed a blockade around the Venezuelan coast and began to
bombard their ports. Roosevelt saw this action as a potential threat to the U.S. and
threatened to use American naval power to pressure the European navy to withdraw

Imperialists liked his policy, but there were still critics that disliked the policy and
favored noninvolvement in global politics. The Square Deal came upon after
Roosevelt s first economic crisis. He demonstrated that he favored neither business
or labor but insisted on a square deal for both. The strike of the anthracite coal
miners was solved when he threatened to take control of the mines. The owners
decided to compromise with Roosevelt and granted a 10 percent wage increase and
a nine hour workday. Voters liked the square deal so much the election of 1904
was won decisively by Roosevelt. The Panama Canal was another good thing he
did while in office. Roosevelt had to get a treaty with Britain in order to begin to
dig the canal without British involvement. In 1901 the Hay Pauncefote Treaty
helped achieve just this. Roosevelt supported the revolt in Panama in 1903, because
of this the new government of Panama signed the Hay Bunau Varilla Treaty of
1903. This treaty granted the US long term control of a Canal Zone. The Roosevelt
Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine in 1904 was another application of the big stick
policy. Rather than let the Europeans intervene in Latin America which would be a
violation of the Monroe Doctrine he said that the US would intervene whenever
necessary. The US sent gunboats to Latin American countries that were delinquent in
paying its debts. US sailors and
5. Prenatal Care in Early 20th Century Kansas Essay
Prenatal care is an important part of insuring the wellness of a baby. In the early 20th
century, prenatal care was just starting to become an emphasized area of health for
women. High infant mortality rates were starting to raise questions as to what could
be done to help protect the fetus and insure a healthy childbirthand baby. Kansas
attempted to raise awareness of the importance of prenatal care to the general public
starting in the early 1900s with The Kansas Mother s Manual. Many women in
Kansas followed the guidelines issued within the handbooks, lectures, and posters.
Yet, the women in the Southeast Kansas coal mining towns were disadvantaged when
it came to prenatal care and childbirth. Infantmortality rates were quite high... Show

One state of main focus was that of Kansas. In the Bulletin of the Kansas State
Board of Health, articles began to pop up that talked about prenatal care, as well as
child care in general. A huge emphasis was put on topics such as sanitation,
nutrition, rest, and physician care. These bulletins were sent out to Kansas
residents, as well as made available in other means such as libraries. Families in the
Southeast Kansas coal mining towns are more likely to have lacked resources to be
able to receive the bulletin, therefore receiving less information about the importance
of prenatal care. Another barrier is that the bulletin was printed in English and many
of the miners were non English speaking immigrants. As a result, immigrant women
in the area were misinformed about prenatal care and childbirth. In addition, due to
the early years of the 1900s, it is likely that many of the women could not read, once
again resulting in misinformation. As it became more obvious that the infant
mortality rates in Kansas were a major concern, more documents, pamphlets, and
public awareness was created. The state of Kansas put programs into full effect in
the hopes of decreasing the infant mortality rates in Kansas (see map 1.1 and 1.2 for
infant mortality rates in 1913 and 1915). When looking at the infant mortality rates, a
special consideration must be accounted for
6. Scientific Management (850 Words)
It could be said that Fredrick Winslow Taylor s scientific management theory is still
significantly relevant to management practices the 21st century. By analysing both
critics and advocates of Taylor s theory, we are able to gain a comprehensive insight
into Taylor s contribution to the improved productivity, higher efficiency and greater
consistency in the current business world. In conjunction with this, suggestions have
been made that scientific managementexercises poor working conditions,

Taylor s theory.
Today, there is increasing evidence of scientific management becoming dated as we
become more focused on incorporating ideologies of modern management
approaches. Chowdhury claims that, There is much truth in the saying that every
living practitioner is prisoner to the ideas of a dead theorist. (2000, pp. 21). It is

one of the reasons for this different perspective as seen in this century is discussed by
Grint, Management theory, especially American management theory, has generally
been construed to represent this rational development towards a more effective
system over time. (1997, pp. 48). Due to gradual changes in management practices, it
is evident that Taylor s theory is arguably becoming less significant.
By examining Taylor s theory and its impact on business management practices today,
it is evident that there are still supporters as well as increasing critics of his concept.
Whilst there are indications of successful implementation of his practices in
businesses today, there are also many negative facets of his theory regarding its
impact on the employee. This research suggests that although scientific
7. The Critique Of The Movie Lincoln
The movie Lincoln is an American historic film, made in 2012, that covers the final
four months of Lincoln s life in politics. This movie was highly relatable to what we
have been learning and class. The movie contains instructional value, not only in
history, but also in general politics. It shows the art of presidency along with the
practice of politics. Although Lincoln does a great job of portraying history, it is not
one hundred percent accurate.
The movie focuses mainly on the passing of the 13th amendment and the trouble that
Lincoln and his supporters went through. The movie suggests that Lincoln bought
votes by bribing some members of the House of Representatives with the offering of
jobs. However, while there is some evidence to ... Show more content on

No movie is bound to be completely and utterly factual. One fact the moviemakers
did get correct was Lincoln did indeed pardon a lot of people after they attempted
to dissert. Another correct detail was the issue of the peace talks with the South.
Some of the representatives wished to delay the vote on the amendment until after
Lincoln had discussed peace with the negotiators. However, this could have
impeded the passage of the amendment. So, Lincoln wrote a note saying, So far as
I know, there are no peace commissioners in the city or likely to be in it . Which
was true, the commissioners were on their way to a fort. When the actual vote
occurred, it happened almost exactly as the movie portrayed it. As in the movie,
Schuyler Colfax, the speaker, did cast his vote, even though it was quite unusual.
One liberty the moviemakers did take was in the dramatic appearance of a group of
African Americans. While they were allowed to view the voting process most likely
there were only a few who were present. After the vote Stevens is seen taking the
amendment home, highly unlikely. Also he appears to have an African American
wife. This is somewhat true. He had a common law marriage with Lydia Hamilton
Smith, who was half Irish and half African American. Then at the surrender of Robert
E. Lee at the Appomattox Court House, Robert Lincoln really was present and
actually waited on the front porch. Although some liberties were taken to provide

9. Lactase Intolerance
Only one third of the human population is capable of digesting lactose, which is the
sugar found in milk. This is most likely because only certain societies amongst the
globe domesticated cows for a food and income source around ten thousand years
ago. People who had ancestors that were apart of these communities are more likely
to be lactasepersistent than those who do not. Communities such as these were often
seen in places such as Europe and Africa, which can likely be an explanation for why
lactase persistence is often found in those with European and African ancestry, while
those with Asian backgrounds are often lactase intolerant.
Lactose, which is the main sugar in milk, is very difficult for the small intestine to
process. Because of this, cells are required to make an enzyme referred to as lactase,
which is only found in newly born mammals, along with lactase persistent adult
mammals. Lactase then breaks lactose into glucose and galactose, possibly through
the process of hydrolysis, and then the two sugars are entered into the blood stream

The lactase persistent mutation found in Europe was almost nonexistent in Africa. A
different mutation was found, but it was still seen in the lactase gene and allowed
African adults to digest milk. Both European and African backgrounds evolved
independently, with two different mutations that essentially allowed them to do the
same thing. This can be considered a great example of evolution and adaption in two

First of I will start talking about the problems they faced at YouTube was facing.
YouTube has faced a lot of problems in its life time so far and the main issues they
faced were with scalability. The main reason YouTube faced so many issues was due
to its large and rapid growth, YouTube went from a small websiteto a technology
giant and large player in the IT industry practically overnight. The solution to
dealing with this large and sudden growth was to keep things simple, by using
simplicity this allowed YouTube to cope with the large growth. The simplicity

At YouTube the use of pythonmakes doing this easier as the dynamic nature of

Other scalability techniques used by YouTube would be to say that they cheated a
little or to say instead of data being correct it is approximate correctness. What is
meant by cheating is that not all of their servers are consistent at the same time a
good example of this is that if a user writes a comment on a video then instead
deploying that comment to all servers in the network and keeping all data consistent
what they have done at YouTube is they done it so that the system does not have to
have globally worldwide consistent transactions. Meaning that when the a user rights
a comment on a video he/she sees that comment instantly however someone on the
other side of the world may not see that comment for a couple milliseconds, in other
words the cheat. The data will be consistent in the end, the comments are not financial
transaction therefore it is essential that you know when to cheat, for example if it was
a financial transaction where a user is purchasing something then it is not good
enough for the data must be consistent. Another main part of the cheating technique
is knowing when to fake data, for example to say that The fastest function call is the

American gang members is an under researched topic in the social sciences. While
daily experiences in and social understanding of American culture illustrate that gang
membership is a stigmatized identification the research to support that notion is
sorely absent from the greater conversation on gangs, stigma, and violence in our

The hypothesis states that belonging holds two foundational elements the first, there
is a need for frequent, affectively pleasant interactions with a few other people and
second these interactions must take place in the context of a temporally stable and
enduring framework of affective concern for each other s welfare (Baumeister
Leary, 1996). Gangs commonly fulfill these two elements. Burnett states that a
gangs, formation and maintenance are based on its members bared experience of
estrangement from traditional social systems and on the security (emotional and
physical) that membership provides (McMillan Chavis) (Burnett, 1999) . The gang
s acceptance of the man and the subsequent sense of family satisfies the need for
affectively pleasant interactions (McMillan Chavis, 1986), and the desire for
protection (Regan) and the ability of gangs to provide such protection secures a man
s sense that his welfare is a concern of those with whom he feels acceptance. As
Baumsiester and Leary s article illustrates belonging is so necessary to personal
happiness that those who experience social isolation are bared from experiencing
high levels of happiness (Baumeister Leary). While gang membership might not
provide happiness in the traditional sense they do quench the human need to belong.
This need for acceptance and belonging is only further aggregated through unstable

13. John s Book Of Revelation
In comparison to many of the initially accepted books of the Biblical canon, John s
book of Revelation was written decades later, around 96 CE, and was forced to
address the failure of the kingdom s arrival. Many earlier Biblical books argued
that God s kingdom was imminent and would arrive swiftly, but the passing of time
may have led to a gradual decrease in this sense of urgency and, by extension of this,
religious faith in Jesus and his teachings. In response to this, John s contemporaries
faced him with a unique challenge to renew their eschatological beliefs and answer
the mystery behind the delayed coming of the kingdom of God. Within the book of
Revelation, John encourages his readers to strengthen their belief in the urgency

In many instances, he urges his audience to oppose Rome, such as with his
metaphors with the who beasts. The beast of the sea and the land represent two
aspects of the Roman Empire, the emperors of Rome that either deified themselves or,
through their communities, were aggrandized to divine identities and the Roman
imperial cult. Dorothy A. Lee addresses the idea of Christological parody through
Roman emperors as she describes that, within Revelation 12, the fundamental issue
here is political as well as religious, relating particularly to the cult of emperor
worship in the Roman Empire, which sprang up during the reign of the Emperor
Augustus [...] in Asia Minor the geopolitical setting of Revelation [...] (201). Lee
considers that Over the next century the imperial cult rapidly became the test of
political allegiance for peoples subject to the Roman imperium. The first altars were
raised to the goddess Roma, personification of the city of Rome, and her son
Augustus in Pergamum and Nicomedia (201). In order to most effectively maintain
power, Roman emperors occasionally deified themselves and encouraged emperor
worship. John mimics this in Revelation as he describes In amazement the whole
earth followed the beast. They worshipped the dragon, for he had given his authority
to the beast, and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast, and who
can fight against it? (Rev 13.3 4). In this passage, John forges a connection between
Rome and Satan and illuminates the folly of worshipping either of these two entities.
Within John s writing, he argues that these beasts maintain power through their
blasphemous utterances about God and the ability to both oppose and conquer the
saints. While discussing how the beast retains its power, John describes how It
opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his

According to A Handbookof Critical Approaches of Literature, the id represents the
pleasure principle of human psyche with instinctual gratification, heedless of
consequence, as its one and only concern. Accordingly, the superego and the ego
compete with the overpowering id, which results in Faustus fall. On the other hand,
the superego stands for the inhibiting agent or the morality principle and the
representative of all moral restrictions and the advocate of the impulse toward
perfection (130). Therefore, the ego remains the only factor of the psyche to create a
healthy social balance of the two extremes, which definition justifies the descriptions
of the reality principle or the mediator . However, Faustus id does not leave room for
any counteraction from the superego, or at least not enough, allowing his pride and

18. Thomas Hooker And Reverend Samuel Stone
The history of Hartford begins with Thomas Hooker s arrival in Newtown (later
renamed Cambridge) Massachusetts where he became a pastor of one of the earliest
established churches there. However, voting in Massachusetts was limited to
freemen or limited to people who had been formally interrogated on their religious
views and experiences. Hooker disagreed with these limitations and their influential
pastor, John Cotton. So, Thomas Hooker and Reverend Samuel Stone led a group of
one hundred people in 1636 and founded the settlement of Hartford. Which then led
to the founding of the ConnecticutColony and Hookers increased involvement in
politics. On January 14, 1639 freemen from the three colonies that made up the
Connecticut Colony sat down and ratified the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut
which was called the first written constitution known to history that created a
government. It marked the beginnings of American democracy, of which Thomas
Hooker deserves more than any other man to be called the father. The government of
the United States today is in lineal descent more nearly related to that of Connecticut
than to that of any of the other thirteen colonies (John Fiske). Having been founded
on such prestige Hartford has seen some of the greatest successes and some of the
worst failures. For example, Hartford claimed leader in both the industrial industry

Giselle Giselle ou Les Wilis premiered at the Paris Opera on 28 June, 1841 with
Carlotta Grisi as Giselle, Lucien Petipa (brother of Marius) as Albrecht and AdГЁle
DumilГўtre as Myrtha. The ballet was immediately declared not only a worthy
successor to La Sylphide but also the greatest ballet of its time , a triumphant
reception. Giselle remained in the Paris Opera repertoire until 1849. When it became
outmoded the balletwas completely dropped (after 1868); it would only be seen again
in Paris decades later as part of the Ballets Russes second Paris season, with
Karsavina and Nijinsky in the lead roles. (The ballet bag) As The ballet bag article

m the biggest hypocrite of 2015 : Kendrick Lamar s 2016 Grammy performance
Well known American rapper and songwriter, Kendrick Lamar, in his influential
performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards while singing Blacker the Berry off his
11 time nominated album To Pimp a Butterfly, recounts issues of racism in society,
however, conveys a deeper meaning of hypocrisy towards the end of the song. In
this essay, I will be doing a contextual analysis of Kendrick Lamar s 2016 Grammy
performance. I argue the significant meaning throughout Lamar s performance,
then I go outside the event and describe events in the outside world that related or
could have perhaps provoked him to decide to perform those particular songs and I
ll conclude by examining how those outside events could potentially alter our
perception of the performance and the importance of knowing that information.
The message Kendrick is trying to convey are very blunt and explicit throughout
the entire song. Or try to celebrate February like it s my B day (Lamar 2016),
shows his use of metaphorical language and imagery to portrays his frustrated
attitude towards current racial views in America. Born in Compton, Kendrick
Lamar delivered a performance at the 2016 Grammy s in February. Performing
racially charged songs like Blacker the Berry and Alright was Kendrick s attempt to

Protect wireless sensor network from Internet attacks
As the rapid development of internet, the technology of wireless sensor network
(WSN) plays an important role in our real life. Moreover, WSN are the essential
elements on a wide range of fields such as Internet of things (IOT). Thus, it is
necessary to prevent WSN from internet attacks and maintain its stability. Sensor
nodes in WSN can not only collect and process physical data, but also communicate
with other entities. Therefore, this essay will illustrate three approaches on the
security of WSN and analyze as well as discuss the three approaches based on attacks
types, attacks source, applied range and energy consumption and so on.

Although wireless sensor network and the other types of network sometimes need
same security requirements, providing security service for WSN own more
challenges when compared with secure foundation of network because of limited
energy, the nodes number, storage, Internet bandwidth, communication of sensor
nodes and the capabilities of computation. Two main reasons are computation
capabilities and low traffic rates. The low traffic rate of sensor nodes can not support
battery of sensors to make the network smooth for a long time and devices in the
WSN can not support very complex computation to deal with some typical internet
attacks. Additionally, Internet attacks can be divided into two types: internal attacks
and external attacks. Generally, internal attacks are produced from malicious nodes.
On the other hand, when it comes to the external attacks, wireless sensor network are
easy to be attacked by several types of external internet attacks, which can be
considered to three main aspects: secrecy and authentication attacks, network
availability attacks and replay attacks.(p135, denial). Although many traditional
techniques that have been used to resist various kinds of attacks, there are still remain
serious problems in security of WSN. As a result, it is necessary to come up with the
most effective approach to handle the Internet attacks in time because the faster
development of technology, the more security problems. For these reasons, the

Once in my basketball game, my team was losing by many points. However, we
never gave up and started to make a comeback. The crowd was getting louder as the
final seconds approached. There was 2 seconds left, and Julien Flores shot the ball.
Swoosh. We had won the game because we never gave up. Persevering through
obstacles is the major theme in H.G. Wells novel titled, The Time Machine. This
novel is about a time traveler who traveled far into the future and encountered strange
humanoid creatures. The world was very different and another species called the
Morlocks had stolen his Time Machine. The Time Traveler persevered through this
and he eventually got his Time Machine back and he travelled back home.
An example of the main theme in The Time Machine being how you should
persevere through obstacles is found on page 104 and H.G. Wells states, So I came

because the Time Traveler has been trying to get home for a long time and he
never gave up. He was eventually able to get home and this shows how since the
time traveler was able to get home because he persevered, the main theme in the
novel is that you should never give up. Another piece of evidence that H.G. Wells
includes is on page 1 and it states, There I object, said Filby. Of course a solid body

25. Preservation In Beowulf
Preservation is of utmost importance to human kind preservation of one s culture,
pastimes, and even individual life. This longing for immortality has existed since
humanity s origin and has resulted in fine works of art relished by many today. The
Anglo Saxons preserved their own identities through their literature, such as the epic
poem, Beowulf. Much of Beowulf s value today stems largely from its genre s
definition. Beowulf s primary focus follows the profound, often supernatural
escapades of its epic hero, the human embodiment of the cultural values of his
contemporaries, who inevitably determines the fate of the people he represents,
defining the work as an indisputably epic poem (Wheeler). Beowulf, the principle
character whom the epic
26. Notes On The And Flow Data
2 DATA AND OPERATIONALIZATION
Tostudy the impactofpoliticalaffinity onFDI,I employ the datafrom
UNCTAD,whichrecord bilateral FDI stock and flow data for more than 200
countries from 2001 to 2012. Since FDI flow data can be a poor conceptual choice
for answering political questions (Kerner, 2014;
Sorens and Ruger, 2015; Benacek et al., 2014), I choose to use only the stock data.
One possible drawback for UNCTAD data is its compilation by reports from different
countries, which have varied reporting rules and rigorousness. As a result, it may
have serious measurement errors or substantial missing values. However, this
weakness appears to plague the other two major FDI data resources (IMF and OECD)
as well. 1 In addition, since biased or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This choice is mainly out of convenience. It is also workable to use the outstock data
instead. The interpretation will be similar.
2.1 POLITICAL AFFINITY
Admittedly there is no perfect measure for two countries political closeness. To
somehow proxy this measurement, I use the ideal points compiled by Erik Voeten
and colleagues from the UN general assembly roll call voting data. 3 This dataset
has ideal point estimates for countries from 1946 to 2014. To measure political
affinity for a given country pair, I take the absolute value of the difference between
their ideal points and code them as idealPoint . In this regard, the smaller value the
idealPoint variable is, they closer is the country pair s relationship.
2.2 CONTROLS
As mentioned before, to somehow mitigate the reporting country s biasness, I need
to apply controls over the country s general FDI volume. More importantly, the
volume of FDI stock in a certain country is substantially affected by the
attractiveness of the destination and the financial caliber of the donor country. In this
regard, I tally the total volume of both the instock FDI for the recipient country and
the outstock FDI for the donor country. The former is used as a proxy for the
destination s investment attractiveness and the latter for the donor s financial caliber.
This way I can sidestep the use of other economic controls and focus on studying how
political affinity affect FDI.

27. Synthesis Essay On Technology In Schools
Technology today is further along and more complex than it has ever been.
Technology has found its way in our everyday lives one way or another. From our
cars becoming self driving, to technology being widely used in the school system.
However some people, believe that technology should be separated from the schools,
saying it causes more harm than help. I, on the other hand, completely disagree. That
could not be any further from the truth in all reality. Technology gives us much easier
ways to learn, a streamlined way to communicate with teachers, and can provide
more creative freedom than without it. In Source E, it states that children these days
are exposed to far too much information to actually be able to learn anything. Think
about how little sense that makes. How could being exposed to so many interesting
and new ideas that you alone could not possibly have come up with, be a bad thing.
While there does exist information out there that truly serves no purpose in schools,
the vast amount of information that does makes it all worthwhile. Like everything

That goes for in the classroom as well. Now today s students are never out of touch
with their teachers. With things like REMIND, any time throughout the day, children
or parents are able to communicate directly with their teachers to find out more
information. The educators are beginning to interact with students, parents and each
other in ways they never have before. (Source B) For people to say that technology
has ruined communication and outside exposure for today s generation, like Source
F tries to convey with the image of the boy watching a nature program on the
television instead of going outside and experiencing it hands on, is an outdated thing
to say. In all actuality people have never been more connected than they are now.

29. Osmosis Is The Outer Layer Of A Solvent
Osmosis is process of the diffusion or movement of a solvent (usually water
molecules) through a semipermeable cell membrane from an area of low solute
concentration to an area of high solute concentration [Biology online, 2008]. The cell
membrane is the outer layer of a cell [Helms, n.d.] All cells are enclosed by a
membrane that selectively enables and permits in what the cell requires but averts
and avoids unwanted molecules from invading. Due to the membrane encompassing
copious tiny holes, the membrane allows and permits anything minor through but
prevents outsized molecules from moving into the cell. Osmosiscan be tested and
visually observed with the use of eggs, being adjacent representations of a cell for the

It was apparent through the data that was recorded that there was a substantial
approximate 27 gram increase in egg mass from 56.5 grams to 83.5 grams when
the eggs were submerged in vinegar. This is because the water contained in the
vinegar can pass into the egg through the membrane, shifting from the higher water
concentration in vinegar to the lower water concentration in the egg. In saying
this, it was again ostensible through the egg masses that were recorded after the
eggs were immerged in distilled water that the egg had expanded even more
significantly in size by approximately 12 grams from 80.13 to 92.2, as exhibited in
Appendix 8, image 4. This is due to the water being hypotonic, with a considerably
higher water concentration gradient across the membrane as can be comprehended
by scrutinizing the image found in Appendix 7. A hypotonic solution is interpreted
as a solution whose solute concentration is lower than that inside a cell [Helms,
n.d.]. Contrariwise, by putting an egg with no shell in syrup, the egg membrane
splits and divides into two solutions with different concentrations of water: the egg
white is about 90% water; syrup is about 25% water [Oregon, n.d.]. There was a
substantial diminution by approximately 38.8 grams in egg mass from 83.5 grams
to 44.7 grams when the eggs were immerged in syrup causing the egg shrivel as
demonstrated in Appendix 8, image 3; when an egg is immerged in syrup of any
type after firstly being immerged in vinegar,

DEFINITION ANAEROBIC POND Anaerobic ponds are deep treatment ponds
that exclude oxygen and encourage the growth of bacteria, which break down the
effluent. It is in the anaerobic pond that the effluent begins breaking down in the
absence of oxygen anaerobically . The anaerobic pond acts like an uncovered
septic tank. Anaerobic bacteria break down the organic matter in the effluent,
releasing methane and carbon dioxide. Sludge is deposited on the bottom and a
crust forms on the surface as show in Fig. 2. Fig. 2 Operation of the Anaerobic
Pond. Anaerobic ponds are commonly 2 5 m deep and receive such a high organic

The biochemical reactions that take place in anaerobic ponds are the same as
those occurring in anaerobic digesters, with a first phase of acidogenesis and a
second slower rate of methanogenesis. Ambient temperatures in hot climate
countries are conducive to these anaerobic reactions and expected BOD5 removals
for different retention times in treating sewage have been given by Mara (1976) as
shown in Table 2. More recently, Gambrill et al. (1986) have suggested
conservative removals of BOD5 in anaerobic ponds as 40% below 10В°C, at a
design loading of 100 g/m3d, and 60% above 20В°C, at a design loading of 300 g
/m3d, with linear interpolation for operating temperature between 10 and 20В°C.
Higher removal rates are possible with industrial wastes, particularly those
containing significant quantities of organic settleable solids. Of course, other
environmental conditions in the ponds, particularly pH, must be suitable for the
anaerobic microorganisms bringing about the breakdown of BOD. Table 2. BOD

designed on the basis of a temperature dependent empirical value for the permissible
organic loading rate. Land requirements will be lowest if the maximum possible
BOD loading can be applied. The upper limit of the volumetric BOD loading is
determined by odor emissions and minimum pH threshold value at which

They talk about the horrific details of hanging for such vicious crimes. At first,
Jackie is unwilling to confess but regretful for having to part with his new friend (the
priest). He values him as an exceptionally entertaining character in the religious line
(182).
Jackie is a young naГЇve boy who is nervous about the transition of obligations
according to his religion. He is planning to make his First Communion, but initially
he is required to make his First Penance. Jackie proclaims, I was scared to death of
confession (177). He thinks his sins are disgraceful, and he may be punished for
them. On the other hand, he is petrified to make a bad confession because he does
not want to burn in Hell for eternity like Mrs. Ryan taught him. Jackie s youth and
innocence leads him to believe literally the tales that have been told to him about
confession (178). Jackie thinks that his grandmother and sister are the core to all his
evil doing, and he wishes death upon both of them. Most young children have these
same feelings.
Jackie s confidence increases because of the relationships he finds in his mother
and the priest. Jackie s mother is the typical mom. She is always shielding him from
the world, and especially his father s thrashings. It seems she is his only ally in the
world until he meets the priest. Jackie feels betrayed when Nora takes him to
confession instead of his mother. As a result, his sister

persons between the ages of 15 64. Three important issues stand out when it come to
the operation of table saws in the work place and in the home; safety, training and
equipment conditions. Mr. John Schmidt was injured on June 7; he seriously injured

The co worker claims that the foreman was informed by them about the safety guard.
After examining, the safety report records state the opposite of what s in the written

to report it to the shop manager. Being that the safety guard was poorly designed is
my main reason to why the company is at fault. The company put their employees at
risk when they had knowledge of a safety issue.
Training, secondly, is very important in the operation of table saws. While the safety
guards are in place to protect the operator from hazards, it is still important that
employers have trained their staff properly in operating equipment. Although the
safety guard is intended to protect, it only protects in four directions: from above,
from the rear and form the sides. This puts the operator hands inadvertently

38. Friendship Problems With Children With ADHD
In class, we discussed many of the symptoms associated with ADHD and how these
symptoms contribute to academic problems, peer and family difficulties and
aggression. Individuals with ADHD struggle to sustain attention, focus and complete
complex tasks, speech fluently, internalize private speech and regulate their emotions.
All of these issues likely contribute to the friendshipproblems identified in the current
study. For instance, the study found that children with ADHD have shorter
friendships than the comparison group of children and this could be related to their
difficulty sustaining attention and regulating their emotions. Other children might
find it difficult to maintain friendships with children with ADHD because that cannot
focus as long on the activities that they want to do. In other words, a child with
ADHD might tire of a game after a few minutes and want to do something else but
their friend might want to finish the game first to see who wins. This attention deficit
might make the friend weary of staying in this relationship because they do not
understand. Additionally, a child with ADHD may not understand their friend s
social cues and they may get easily agitated or upset when things do not go their
way. As a child, the friend is not looking to maintain a difficult friendship which
could account for decreased longevity of friendships in children with ADHD,
especially in the currently studied age range.
Additionally in class, we discussed some of the

Introduction
Explaining why people commit crime is not an easy task. Criminologists have
attempted to travel down the paths of the reasoning for criminal behavior and the
factors that flow with them. Criminologists have developed many theories or
perspectives of crime. The perspectives recognize the cause of crime by the related
qualifies of criminals and populations with high crime rates. Two perspectives of
crime stood out from the wide variety, biological and psychological. In some cases
biological and psychological explanations of crime run hand in hand, however the
two perspectives focus on very different products of criminal behavior.
BIOLOGICAL VIEW
In explaining criminal behavior factors reveal that a person s physical or
biological characteristics are the results of criminal behavior. Biological factors
play a significant role in determining the reasons people commit crime. It is
believed that people go against the social norms because of that person s biological
make up (Boundless, 2014). Biological perspectives note that a person s
appearances and properties can be linked to illegal acts. Lombroso believed that
people with certain appearances such as drooping eyes or large ears were found to
be criminals (Boundless, 2014). Hereditary and genetic factors are said to also be a
product of criminal behavior. A child can grow up and have the tendencies of a
criminal because he/she has inherited those traits from a criminal parent. In today s
society, biochemical
40. The United States And The Vietnam War
A Day to Remember
It seems as if the united states are always fighting a battle whether it is overseas or
within its own borders. The citizens were not ready for what the 1970 s was going
to bring, socially, economically, and religiously. Jim Jones was going to bring peace
and relief to these people in the most tragic way possible. With brain washing,
manipulation, and isolation Jones convinced hundreds of people to commit suicide.
The Peoples Temple religious movement was one of the many going on during the
1970 s. During the 1970 s America hit rock bottom. The U.S. had lost the Vietnam
war, there was an oil crisis, and the automobile industry was going out of business
due to the foreign cars. The Vietnam war gave rise to many anti war protests and
questioning of the nation s role in the world. Many believed in pacifism and
opposed of the U.S. involvement in the war. The oil embargo that members of the
Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries proclaimed in 1973 led to oil
shortages. Gas had to be rationed and prices increased drastically. Japan and Germany
were making better cars which caused U.S. automobile industries to go out of
business, many Americans lost their jobs.
The American population grew skeptical; they could not turn to the government
during this time. The Watergate scandal in the 1970s destroyed Americans trust with
the government. They didn t feel safe with their political leaders and did not feel
taken care of. As always, when there is a

A photograph is not merely a substitute for a glance. It is a sharpened vision. It is the

role photography had on America in the 1940 s and 50 s. During this era,
photojournalismclimaxed, causing photographers to join the bandwagon or react
against it. The question of whether photographycan be art was settled a long time ago.
Most major museums now have photography departments, and the photographs

He felt that FSA photographers used stylistic elements such as sharp focus, even
lighting, and frontal composition to mark their images as factual and that they should
be read as unbiased. He felt that the work should be described as documentary style.
American photographers of the late 1950 s and 60 s reinvented the documentary
tradition. Photographers like Diane Arbus, Garry Winogrand, and lee Friedlander
looked at the world through the astonish me viewpoint. Diane Nemerove, or better
known as Diane Arbus, was an American Documentary Photographer known for
her compelling, yet often disturbing portraits of people from the edges of society.
An example is the 1962 image of The Boy with the Hand Grenade in Central Park.
As a native New Yorker, Diane Arbus photographed the people of the city, but not
just the everyday. Arbus sought out those at the edge of society. She depicts the
daily life, but with an emphasis on the abnormality of the commonplace. When
looking at the image of the boy in 1962, the child seems no different from other
children; his facial expression communicating a frustration beyond the specific
image. You see a boy with the strap of his shorts awkwardly hanging from his
shoulder, with his arms tense and his hands clenched in frustration; a toy replica hand

The best book is one that makes you live the life of the character. I have only read a
few books like these. However, I hope to read many more throughout my lifetime.
One amazing way reading has changed is just my short lifetime is the digitalization
of almost all books. When I was very young I faintly recall going to Barnes and
Nobles to actually buy a book, now I get everything I read online. My inability for a
long time to reread any book made my parents find a cheaper way for me to read.
When I was nine I got my first ever tablet, a Kindle Fire, this one thing completely
changed how I have read from then on. I never went to the library again to get a

I reread the book Dark Life by Kat Falls, and it was much better than I expected.
The book focuses on a child named Ty that lives under the sea in the relative near
future. The book follows him through some of his many adventures, and his
blossoming love life. One reason I chose to reread this book was because it made
me feel as if I was actually living Ty s life. I originally read Dark Life about a two
and a half years ago and I liked it then, yet I realized some of the subtle jokes and
themes passed over me. One major theme that I did not notice as much when I first
read it was how the romance progressed. It progressed in the cliche romantic novel
way which led you to realize that this author is not a romance writer. Another major
theme that was more somber was how corrupt the government is portrayed in the
book. The government in the book very closely resembles the one we have today.
Rereading one of my first books turned out to be a much more enjoyable experience

If one has a trustworthy relationship with their athletes and has open communication

cultural issues shouldn t be a major issue.

Toronto Public Health and TB Program Prevention, Management and Treatment
Tuberculosis (TB), which infects one third of the world population, is a disease with
one of the highest mortality rates in the world (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2016a). It is reported that there is an approximately low TB occurrence in
nations that have the highest income and middle income; however, there are specific
communities such as homeless, poor people and lawbreakers in these countries that
have the highest TB incidence (Gärden et al., 2013). Therefore, public health
policies about preventing and treating tuberculosis in the marginalized and
disfavoured groups have never failed to get social attention. The city of Toronto has
been applying Nightingale s theory of ensuring ventilation and warming, maintaining
the cleanliness, and reinforcing the observing of the sick to develop a TB program
in order to diminish the spreading and impacts of TB as well as to enhance the
support for displaced, disciplinary communities.
Nightingale s notion of a therapeutic environment plays a critical role in establishing
the TB program for homeless, correctional populations of Toronto because it has
reduced TB s airborne transmission, a factor that makes TB a worldwide pandemic.
In Canada, TB was possibly transmitted to Aboriginal people in

Let s look at the other methods and see if it makes sense. Think about the 60 drop
per milliliter set (60 gtts/ml.) Now think about the answer you want which drops
per minute. A protocol or medical control will give you fluid amounts to
administer most 2 commonly in ml/hr. You already have the amount and the time
to be infused. All you do now is choose the appropriate drip set, using a simple
formula you can come up with a quick answer: Amount of Solution (in ml) X drip
set (gtts/ml) = x drops/min (gtts/min) Looking at an example, your medical
control states you need to establish an IV on a cardiac patient complaining of chest
pressure at a rate of 80 ml/hr using a 500 ml bag of Normal Saline solution. The
drip set you choose is a 60 gtts/ml minidrip set. The formula is as follows: Divide 60
into 4800 80 ml (amount) X 60 gtts/ml (drip set) 60 (divided my time in minutes over
1 hour) = 4800 60 = 80 gtts/min When calculating IV drip rates remember that you
can reduce to the lowest common denominator by dividing the same number into
both the numerator and the denominator to make your calculations much easier. All
samples shown from now on demonstrate this throughout. Simply remember that the
numbers are consistent with the 60 minute clock and you will catch on rather
quickly. The sample problems will show you by dividing the same number into the
drip set and the time. As you see the answer is
50. Howard Gardner s Theory Of Multiple Intelligence Essay
HOWARD GARDNER S THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES A professor
of education at Harvard University, Dr. Howard Gardner, developed the theory of
multiple intelligences in 1983 (American Institute for Learning and Human
Development, n.d.). Gardner s theory suggests that traditional intelligence tests such
as IQ tests, only meausures a limited aspect of human intelligence. Instead, this theory
suggests that people have potential in eight areas of intelligence which are; linguistic,
logical mathematic, spatial, bodily kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapesonal,
and naturalist. People who have linguistic intelligence are good with words, they are
able to use written and spoken words to effectively express themselves. Individuals
who are logical mathematic intelligent are able to anaylze problems logically, and use
mathematical operations and the scientific method to solve problems. If a person s
strength is in musical intelligence, they have the ability to perform, compose and
recognize musical patterns. Boldily kinesthetic intelligence means an individual uses
their physical abilities to solve problems. Spatial intelligence is the ability to
recognize and use and interpret pictures. Interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences
deal with understanding other people s (intrapersonal) and your own (interpersonal)
feelings and motivations. Lastly, naturalist intellgience is the ability to recognize and
appreciate the relationship between humans and nature ( Gardner

Guelphs and Ghibellines were introduced in italy about 1242 in Florence. The names
seem to have been grafted onto pre existing papal and imperial factions within the
city republics(Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts: Guelphs and Ghibellines).
Also a dubious tradition relates that the terms Guelf and Ghibelline originated as
battle cries ( Hie Welf Hie Waiblingen ) during conrad 3 s defeat of Welf VI of
Bavaria in 1140 at the siege of Weinsberg(1). The Ghibellines wanted a strong
monarchy and imperial rule over Italy. The Guelfs advocated the independence of the
Italian cities. The struggle began in the 12th century. After the Hohenstaufen
(Ghibellines) emperors fell in 1254, the conflict turned into petty quarrels(Britannica).
The way each rival got their names is fascinating. Guelf was derived from Welf, the
name of the dynasty of German dukes of Bavaria who competed for imperial throne
through the 12th and early 12th centuries(Guelf and Ghibelline). The name
Ghibelline was derived from Waiblingen, the name of a castle of the welfs opponents,
the Hohenstaufen dukes of swabia(Guelf and Ghibelline). Both the Guelf and the
Ghibellines were sympathetic to certain people who helped them or controlled them.
The Guelphs early became associated with the papacy because of their mutual
Hohenstaufen enemy. They were represented by more democratic middle classes and
merchant class who desired a constitutional government. They represented an
indigenous Italian stock and looked to the pope for help against the Ghibellines.
However this became more and more blurred(Dante Alighieri Society of
Massachusetts: Guelphs and Ghibellines). The Ghibellines who were sympathetic to
the German (Holy Roman) emperors, contributed to chronic strife within the cities of
northern Italy in the 13th and 14th

Due to the abuse that Delia suffers in the short story Sweat by Zora Hurston, she
becomes stronger and gains independence. Sykes is a overcontrolling husband and
frequently abuses Delia throughout their marriage. He does this in several different
ways. First is verbal, he is always yelling and at Delia and never has anything nice to
say. Along with a general rudeness toward her he makes threats to her, saying things
such as, Ah oughter mash you in yo mouf fuh drawing dat skillet on me (Hurston 3).
This threatening manner eventually stops working as she grew numb to his threats
after fifteen years of marriage. So, in response to her numbness he escalates his abuse

Her strength is a mental strength and she is stronger than most. Although Sykes is
able to physically abuse her and stoops to lows such as abuse she still fights back.
This is surprising as women during this time were expected to be completely
submissive and obey their husband s command. Instead she ignores him since she
knows that she is the dominant one. Even the men at the shop recognize that she is
the provider in the family and that Sykes is an abuser. They also recognize the
effect the abuse had on her and her appearance. They say the women Never wuz de
same in de mind (Hurston 4). They also say Delia wuz ez pretty ez a speckled pup

married Sykes. Despite her abuse from her husband she grows stronger because of
it. She does this by simply getting used to it. This is why he keeps changing his
ways of abuse, because she has over come them and has become numb to them.
Eventually everything will reach a boiling point where there is no
