Essay About Food
Crafting an essay on the broad and seemingly simple topic of "Essay About Food" may appear
deceptively easy at first glance. After all, everyone eats, and food is an integral part of our daily
lives. However, delving into the intricacies of this subject can prove to be a challenging task.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between the personal and the universal.
On one hand, you want to infuse your essay with a unique perspective, perhaps drawing on your
own experiences and cultural background. On the other hand, you must navigate the challenge of
making your essay relatable and engaging for a diverse audience with varying tastes and
preferences.
Moreover, the vastness of the topic demands careful consideration of the scope. Should you
focus on the cultural significance of food, its impact on health, the joy of cooking, or the
environmental implications of our food choices? Narrowing down your focus while still
providing a comprehensive view is a delicate tightrope walk.
Research also plays a crucial role. To create a well-rounded essay, you might need to delve into
historical, sociological, and scientific aspects of food. This requires time and effort in sifting
through a multitude of sources to extract relevant and credible information.
Additionally, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and offering fresh insights. With countless
essays already written on the subject, finding a unique angle that captivates your audience
becomes paramount. It's about bringing something new to the table, so to speak.
Finally, the art of eloquent expression comes into play. Conveying your thoughts and ideas in a
clear, coherent, and engaging manner is essential. The language should be appetizing, drawing
readers in and keeping them hooked until the final bite.
In conclusion, while an essay on the topic of food might seem straightforward, the complexity
lies in crafting a piece that is both personal and universally appealing, well-researched yet
concise, and, most importantly, fresh and engaging. It's a culinary feat of words that requires
skill, time, and dedication.

Bridegroom And The Bride Analysis
2.Considering the model of the church that you studied during the last face to face
session, which biblical image/s correspond/s to it?
And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in
justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. (Hosea 2:19)
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife,
and they shall become one flesh. (Gen. 2:24
I will answer this question based on what I think to be a good biblical image that
models the church. For me the model of the church is the Bridegroom and the Bride.
Marriage is a powerful word that signifies more than a relationship or even more than
an intimacy. Marriage is a sacred union of two people without a line that distinguishes

It is true that His love is unfathomable, stubborn and compelling. It is unfortunate
that humans cannot respond well to His love because the kind of love humankind
knew is comparable to dust just like who they are.
Indeed, God cannot separate Himself from His nature, which is love. Truly,
humankind cannot deny the power of His love that surrounds them through His
creations and more so in them for human is the masterpiece of His love. This love
is demonstrated from the time of creation lavishing them with excellent gifts to keep
them satisfied in life and that will culminate in His second coming to take them to
be His bride. He prepared the New Heaven as a gift where they life together
forevermore.
Frankly, human is undeserving of His love because they are evil, idolaters and
unfaithful. However, despite the situation He continued loving them expressing it by
descending off His throne, to be with His created beings and to die on the cross in
their behalf that through His death they can live. The cross indicates Jesus union with
His church and a guarantee of inheritance at present and until the day He comes back

Flood Narrative ( Genesis 6-9 ) Vs. Epic Gilgamesh And...
Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative
(Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are
undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly
common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons,
responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the
main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due
to an incoming flood. In Genesis, Godtells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress
wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14).
Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta

This is logical to due to the fact that Noah only had his family and animals on the
ark, while Uta napishti has his family, friends, animals, silver and gold, and all
valuables needed to reestablish the earth once the floods had passed. Once the
floods did indeed pass, the Noah s ark stopped in the mountains of Ararat and Uta
napishti s boat stopped at Mount Nimush. However, both Noah and Uta napishti had
to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The waters
continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of
the mountains reappeared (Genesis 8:5). Similarly, Epic Gilgamesh reads, One day
and a second, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion, a third day
and a fourth, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion (Gilgamesh, XI,
143 145). It s a coincidence that both of these mountains are located in the Middle
East. After enduring a catastrophic flood, Noah and Uta napishti had to remain in
their shelter for days on end. Nevertheless, these men are admirable for their
dedication and perseverance. Unfortunately, Noah had to persevere significantly
longer time than Gilgamesh. In the Epic Gilgamesh, the flood only lasted six days
and seven nights: For six days and nights, there blew the wind, the downpour, the
gale, the Deluge, it flattened the land. But the seventh day when it came, the gale
relented, the Deluge ended
Working With Teams
Working with teams
Working in teams is a common approach that many areas such as schools,
workplaces are taking in certain tasks, responsibilities or even special projects.
While it can be quite challenging to work in teams towards a common goal due to
different personality types that people have it is very advantageous for both
individuals and the organizations involved (Rasing, 2013).The paper will highlight
on some of the positive experiences that exist for working in teams.it will at what
people learn from working in tams.it will further look at how teams are used in
workplaces and other areas like education. Finally it will look at the advantages of
team work and how teamwork skills might benefit a specific field.
Experiences of working with teams I have worked with teams under very many
occasions in school and also in my current workplace. I have had both positive and
negative experiences when working with teams.in terms of positive experiences I
can say that there was a lot of cooperation from other team members and hence any
task given to us that required to be executed by the team was effectively executed.
Through teamwork there was the creation of better communication from team
members and hence positive relations were built (Rasing, 2013).On several
occasions especially in school, I was helped by other team members particularly on
my weak areas and hence I was able to improve on my weak areas. On the other hand
there are also some negative experiences that I
Stanislavski s Expectations Of Acting As The Imitation Of...
Acting, known by most as the imitation of life. Many theorists have gone to extreme
lengths to try to recreate the behaviors of man in everyday life, whether it be
Stanislavski s method of using past experiences, Chekhov s technique of imagining a
situation, or naturalism s use of the environment. But there are some that deny this
goal of acting, they believe theatrecan be so much more when it isn t bound to the
restraints of imitation. Tadashi Suzuki was one such man, who believed the goal of
acting should not be to be realistic, but for the actorto use all means necessary to
convince the audience of a truth. In order to do this, the actor must have complete
control of his body, achieved through following the Suzuki Method.
In the year 1939, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These experiences are capable of causing a relatively large amount of pain to the
actor, and they must use all of their invisible capabilities as much as they can in
and in unison order to try to avoid as much pain as possible. The impossibility of
this method s requirements raises the goal to perfection, leaving failure as the only
possible outcome. No actor has or will ever be able to master the Suzuki Method of
Acting, because it s not meant to be mastered, it raises the actor to his maximum
potential, and leads the actor to always strive to be even better. This can be reflected
through the exercises, many actors, while doing the exercises, tend to notice faults in
their acting, and correct them, without even needing the guide of a teacher. There are
more specific goals that are used to help guide the actor in his training. The actor
must understand the different way in which the feet contact the floor, which stems
from nЕЌ, where the atmosphere is created through the placement of the feet. The
actor must keep the upper body free, but strong, not disregard it and only focus on
the lower body, because it would disrupt the center of gravity. The actor must be
constantly focused and aware, despite the pressure from the exercises. The actor must

Loss of Innocence
The characters in To Kill A Mockingbird and the people in our society don t
understand our world until they ve experienced a loss of innocence. Growing up is
a hard part of life. When people are younger, they re naive and not aware of
anything outside their home. When experiencing loss of innocence, people are
more aware of right and wrong. People are beginning the rules and concepts of life.
Experiencing a life lesson can lead to a loss of innocence. People are finally maturing
and understanding situations from others perspectives. Before experiencing a loss of
innocence, it s hard to understand everything about our world. Scout didn t really

Old Testament Essay
Old Testament Essay In the Beginning: At the beginning of the universe. God
created heaven and earth in six days and rested on the seventh. During those six
days God spoke to the darkness and created the world, brought forth light, created
the sky, land and animals and plants to inhabit them. However, even during this
creation he was contemplating the creation of a being made in his own image. He
created man from dust and named him Adam, but Adam was lonely; so God took
from Adam a rib. With Adam s rib God created a woman and called her Eve. Adam
and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden to live in harmony with God. The
garden was a perfect utopia for Adam and Eve. However, evil soon entered the
garden in the form of a serpent. One day when Eve was walking in the garden she
encountered the evil serpent who encouraged her to take a fruit from one of God s
forbidden fruit trees. The serpent succeeded in deceiving Eve to take a fruit; she
then ate the fruit and shared it with Adam. Then God became angry with Adam and
Eve for betraying Him. To punish Adam and Eve, he ejected them from the garden
and subjecting them to mortality, painful childbirth, sin and shame. Now that Adam
and Eve had entered into the world outside the garden they were left to fend for
themselves. They had two sons Cain and Abel. Cain became a farmer and Able
became a herdsman. They both offered God a sacrifice but Abel s sacrifice
Examples Of Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo Mercutio Character Foil The play Romeo Juliet presents a few specific
character foils. The characters Romeo Mercutio develop a unique foil; Mercutio, the
player, and Romeo, the lover. Both characters have unique characteristics that set
themselves apart, but all in all, bind them together.
Romeo is one of the main characters in the play. Romeo is romantic and has a
passion to love and be loved. He uses words to express his love. Firstly, for
example, in Act 1 Scene 5, If I profane with my unworthiest hand, this holy shrine,
the gentle sin is this; my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand. To smooth that
rough touch with a tender kiss. (W. Shakespeare 837) Romeo longs to be with Juliet,
and in a way, invites her to his love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is a player and has a different outlook on love. Primarily, in Act 1 Scene 4,
Mercutio says If love be rough with you, be rough with love; Prick love for
pricking, and you beat love down. (W. Shakespeare 829) He suggests that Romeo
disregard love, and in addition, to have sex to get over it. Also, one possible
reason that Mercutio despises love is that he s possibly heartbroken. Secondly, in
Act 1 Scene 4, he describes Queen Mab as one who gives people what they want,
in her dreams. For example, On courtiers knees, that dream on curtsies straight; O
er lawyers fingers, who straight dream on fees; O er ladies lips, who straight on
kisses dream. (W. Shakespeare 830) These dreams are insignificant, and as a result,
Mercutio tells Romeo about Queen Mab; his dreams about Juliet are insignificant.
Finally, Mercutio is apparently jealous of Romeo. Throughout Romeo and Juliet,
his lines label him as a pessimistic non lover. In Act 2 Scene 4, Mercutio says Alas,
poor Romeo! He is already dead, stabbed with a white wench s black eye, shot
through the ear with a love song, the very pin of his heart cleft with the blind bow
boy s butt shaft. And is he a man to encounter Tybalt? (W. Shakespeare 858) He
says that of all Romeo has been through, he can t even go up to Tybalt. So, Mercutio
is possibly jealous of Romeo because he can t
I Hate U I Love U By Gnash
Music had been around for ages. It has revolutionized the way humans
communicate emotions or ideas through sequence of tunes, ranging from one key
signature to another. Overtime, music has evolved from having strict composition
rules, which are classical, to multiple genres that puts no limit to a composer s
creativity. Back then, only one type of music generally rule the music industry, but
today, there are countless types of music a person can explore and relate to. The song
I Hate U I Love U by Gnash was released February 17, 2016 (Wikipedia). The lyrics
was inspired by a very sensitive topic about a specific stage of a relationship; the
break up. The entirety of this track revolves around the emotional rollercoaster of
what maleand femaleusually experience after being separated from someone they
have committed themselves to. It illustrates the confusion that occurs during the
latter days of a relationship, the discord during the initially agreement of separation
and the disturbance it causes to one s personal life after the separation. Listeners of
this song were instantly captivated by the fluidity of the musical patterns and its
relatable lyrics. Gnash recorded this song with Olivia O Brien on 2015. He was not
able to release the music due to an issue that arose between him and his producer.
One big obstacle did not hinder him from releasing this song. It took one year for
Gnash to gather up enough resources to produce the song himself. Surprisingly, the

Imagery Depicted Through T.S. Eliot s The Hollow Men
Essay
The imagery depicted in T.S. Eliot s poem quot; The Hollow Men quot; evokes a
sense of desolate hopelessness and lends to Eliot s generally cynical view of
civilization during this period in history. A reaction of deep and profound
disappointment in mankind around him is made evident in this stark work, first
published in 1925. In this short piece, Eliotenumerates several deep faults he finds in
his fellowman, including hypocrisy, apathy and indifference, and leaves the reader
with a feeling of overwhelming emptiness. An important feature of this poem is the
fact that the narration of the poem is in first person.
This establishes Eliot s and the readers relationship to the images and ideas presented.
When the poem begins quot;We are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliot then mentions the dead, calling them quot; Those who have crossed...to death s
other kingdom. quot; These people are made real by Eliot s repeated mention of their
eyes. He refers to them first as making their crossing into death with quot;direct eyes,
quot; meaning that they faced and succumbed to death, unable to turn away. Also he
states they have quot;eyes I dare not meet in dreams, quot; indicating that this
narrator fears addressing death, either his own or those who have quot;crossed. quot;
Later in the poem, in part IV, Eliot returns to the eyes imagerywith quot; The eyes are
not here/There are no eyes here. quot; The absence of eyes, here, indicates Eliot s
condemnation of indifference among those still living to the fate of the dead.
Further into section IV he presents quot; The hope only/Of empty men quot; as
being when and if quot; The eyes reappear/ As the perpetual star. quot; Here Eliot
calls for an opening of eyes and cessation of apathy and indifference to these
deaths. The idea of being afraid to face death and feeling guilt over the deaths of
others contributes to the full explanation of what Eliot means by quot;hollow men.
quot; Besides being afraid to face the eyes of the dead, just as the criminal cannot
face the eyes of his victim, this narrator also expresses a desire to hide from death
itself. When he wishes to quot;also wear/Such deliberate disguises/Rat s coat,
crowskin, crossed staves/In a field/Behaving as the wind
Barrio Boy Short Story
Barrio Boy, New Directions, and Ready For Marcos What drives people to
undertake missions? For example, Ernesto wanted to learn english, go to school,
and not give up so Ernesto came to America to go to school, learn english, and not
give up. Annie Johnson did not give up and Annie made her own business and
without this business Annie would not have money and would not be able to handle

little brother. Individuals are driven to undertake missions because for example one
of the motivation of the first story was to learn english and go to school and be
successful, another motivation was to make money to support a family, and the last
motivation was that someone wanted a little brother. The first story I chose out of
all the three stories that I chose was Barrio Boy by Ernesto Galarza. This story

they assured us that there was always a person who could speak spanish . Another,

The Decomposition Of Soil Organic Matter
The decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM), or plant litter, by soil organisms,
influences soil chemistry and its physical properties. The breakdown rate of SOM
affects plant nutrient availability, the moisture holding capacity of soils, soil
structure and the biological activity of soil organisms.01 According to the Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), these microorganisms carry
out processes that are essential for soilhealth and biodiversity, performing vital
functions in the soil, such as soil fertility, plant growth, maintaining soil structure,
soil resilience and carbon storage. 01 There are three biogeochemical cycles that are
essential to life carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) and have been the focus
of many studies, which have found organic C, N, P and sulfur (S) to be strongly
related. Having a better understanding of this soil ecosystem, including processes and
the C N P S stoichiometry of SOM , is important to shedding light on the nature of
nutrient limitation in terrestrial ecosystems. Furthermore, it has applications to the
capture of the benefits of soil biological activity for sustainable and productive
agriculture and to the reduction of negative impacts from human intervention (FAO).

When I first arrived at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) in Lancaster,

Green Film Dino Flatulence
Red ties are marine phenomenon in which water is stained a red, brown, or
yellowish color because of the temporary abundance of a particular species of
pigmented dinoflagellates (these events are known as blooms ). They also
photosynthesize and it is their photosynthetic pigments that can tint the water during
blooms. Dinoflagellate are common and widespread. Under appropriate
environmental conditions, various species can grow very rapidly, causing red tides.
Red tides occur in all marine regions with a temperate or warmer climate. The green
film Dino Flatulence is often masked by red pigments that help trap light energy.
Under certain conditions water is warm and rich of nutrients a dyno flagella

Train A and train B are traveling on parallel tracks, going in the same direction.
Train A is going 60mph and train B is going 80mph. The reason this may seem
familiar is because it is a homework problem that appears before many students as a
critical thinking question, as if calculating train speeds will be relevant in students
futures. Contrastingly, financial literacy homework is rarely taught directly to
students in school, despite it being essential for present day survival. If managing
money is more of a relevant skill than calculating train speeds, why is the latter
mandatory to learn while the former is not? That being said, in order to prepare

should be improved by implementation of mandatory financial literacy courses, as
managing money is vital for high school students.
In current society, teenagers face impending financial responsibilities regarding post
secondary loans and jobs, and the majority will be heading into these obligations
without sufficient education. 6,800 twelfth grade students completed the 2008
Jumpstart Coalition survey of financial literacy, correctly answering an average of
48.3 percent of all questions, the lowest ever recorded, while in 1997, an average of
57.3 percent of the questions was answered correctly by twelfth graders, 9 percent
more than 11 years later ( The Financial Literacy of Young American Adults ). The
survey questioned students understanding of credit cards, bank loans and investment,
much of which was foreign to these young adults. It is irrefutable to say that money
in society becomes increasingly important as time progresses, so ideally, knowledge
of it should also be increasing. Instead, it is decreasing, suggesting that as the world
becomes more financially complex, students are less understanding of the concepts,
which will likely

continuous variables: that s variables measured at the interval or magnitude relation

partitioning continuous variables into classes is sometimes termed discretization.
Sadly, the quantity of how to discretize a continual attribute is infinite. Discretization
could be a potential long bottleneck, since the variety of attainable discretization is
exponential within the number of interval threshold candidates at intervals the

partition the range into a little variety of intervals that have sensible category

Types Of Interrogation Techniques Employed By Police
And...
There are many types of interrogation techniques employed by police and federal
investigative agencies as well as the various branches of the military. Hirn Mueller,
Schreiber Compo, Molina, Bryon, and Pimentel (2015) studied tactics including
suggestive questions, heavy use of yes/no questions, rapid fire questions, and
complex questions. Madon, Guyll, Scherr, Greathouse, and Wells (2012) looked at
how the length of the interview plays a part in interrogations. Our results suggest that
suspects who expect a lengthy interrogationmay be particularly susceptible to the
influence of proximal consequences and, accordingly, may be more likely to confess
than are suspects who do not expect a lengthy interrogation (Madon et al., 2012, p.

Over the years, history has shown that innocent people have provided false
confessions and been convicted of crimes after being subjected to the use of the
aforementioned interrogation techniques. As a result, interrogation methods are
being questioned (Kassin et al., 2010). In the extraordinary 1932 case of Brown v.
Mississippi, three Black tenant farmers confessed to murder after they were
brutally whipped with a steel studded leather belt beatings that would continue, the
men were told, unless they confessed, (Kassin, 1997, p. 225). The well publicized
case of the Central Park Five, a group of young men who were convicted and
sentenced to extensive prison terms for the beating and rape of a woman New York
City s Central Park, is another example. Controversy arose when, years after the
crime was committed and the men were convicted and sentenced to lengthy prison
terms, another man came forward and confessed to the crime, forcing the court to re
examine the original convictions. This investigation determined that the suspects
were coerced into providing false confessions and they were subsequently released, as
a result of People v. Wise (2002).
The Innocence Project states that of the 300 wrongful convictions overturned in the
United States, about 35% involved a false confession (False Confessions, 2015).
Additionally, there are a number of reasons people are compelled to give false
confessions. Some of these include intimidation of the interviewee through

Spaying involves removing the ovaries and uterus of a female animal, while
neutering means to remove the testicles of a male.
When You Should Spay Neuter Your Pets
Ideally, your pets should undergo the surgeries when they re still young. For
females it s best to do this before her first heat, and for males, sometime before they
are six months old. However, if you adopt an older pet, you ll still be able to get them

Analysis Of The Secret Life Of Bees By Sue Monk Kidd
The Secret Life Of Bees, written by Sue Monk Kidd, should be considered a
classic because of its unique way of relating the characters and the story line to the
reader s emotions and to history. In The Secret Life Of Bees and all books
descriptive detail and skillful writing is crucial. The principle reason this story is a
classic is because of how Sue Monk Kidd was able to use a metaphor throughout the
entire story. Bees represent society and life and without help from other bees and the
queen bee, the hive dies an incredible and unique way to show the readers the
importance of appreciating life. Classicsneed numerous features to be considered one

The Importance Of Nature And Nurture And Self-System...
A child s temperament and their environment together determine wither or not
healthy development is reached. Nature and nurture are partners in how developing
people interact with the surrounding environment (Shonkoff Phillips, 2012). The
question is no longer nurture versus nature but rather nurture through nature
(Shonkoff Phillips, 2012). Since parentingand other environmental factors have the
ability to offset temperament difficulties, it is important for parents to understand
how to interpret their child s emotions and help them work through them.
2.Parenting Styles
Parents have a direct impact on the development of their child. Parenting style during
infancy has an effect on the self system development in toddler and has a life long
impact on the child (Reed, 2015). The four parenting styles are authoritative,
authoritarian, permissive, and neglecting. The authoritative style of parenting has
been found to be the best for optimal development, these children have been found to
have better self control, higher self esteem, higher academic achievement, and
express more happiness (Reed, 2015). Longitudinal studies have shown that higher
levels of positive parenting techniques (such as those of authoritative parents) leads
to fewer behavioral problems, greater social competence and more positive social
outcomes for children (Danzig, et al., 2015).
When parents try to force children into behavior through coercive means they create
lingering feelings of
What Is The Theme Of Death In The Garden Party And...
Death as a theme in literature is as old as the concept of literature itself. Experiencing
someone important to oneself dying is something most human beings can connect to.
The difference is how one perceives death and how one deals with it on an emotional
level. There are countless examples of books with different, unique interpretations of
deathbut this essay will focus on just two: Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party
and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both of these stories have main characters that
must come to terms with death but the ways they go about it and the conclusions
they come to are vastly different. Death is used as a literary device to show the
benefits of letting go and acceptance of things that people can not change in both The
Garden Party and Frankenstein by showing opposite ways one can handle death and
the results of those choices.
Death in The Garden Party evolves from being a horrible thing that happens to be a
beautiful, peaceful conclusion of someone s life. This change in perception comes to
the main character, Laura, as she matures from a child into an adult. As Laura
changes throughout the story she goes from treating death as a tragedy to accepting
it as a natural event in everyone s life. After she visits the woman whose husband
died the narrator states What did garden parties and baskets and lace frocks matter
to him? He was far from all those things (Mansfield 81). This interpretation of Laura
s feelings by the narrator shows how now she

Whilst the benefits of LOTC are clear it is important to note that it may only be
effective when relevant to the National Curriculum and planned for in the correct
context (Beames et al, 2012).
Whilst the importance and benefits of LOTC has been reported by many educational
and professional bodies in the past, it has also been noted that some schools are
reluctant to plan for LOTC due to the pressure of a packed National Curriculum and
time constraints (Maynard and Waters, 2007). However, Ofsted has addressed these
concerns, along with concerns about financial barriers and health and safety aspects,
in their report dated 2008. Suggesting that, where the LOTC activity directly related
to the curriculum and specific learning outcomes, the majority of the planning for the
trip would already be complete, reducing the demand of teachers.

The Pathophysiology Of Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is a T cell mediated, autoimmune, genetic illness that targets the small
intestine in which the absorption of nutrients, particularly fats, is impaired. The
disease has been described as a permanent intolerance to ingested gluten that
damages the small intestine, characteristically inducing crypt hyperplasia and
villous atrophy, and typically resolves with removal of gluten from the diet. (AJN
34). Celiac disease appears to be more prevalent in women than in men. Genetic and
immune factors are known to play a role in its development. People that have a
family member with celiac disease and people that have autoimmune disorders are at
higher risk to develop celiac disease. This paper outlines the pathophysiology of
celiac disease, discusses signs and symptoms, the four disease types, describes testing,
treatment, addresses the differences between gluten free dietand a diet containing
gluten, the use of dietary supplements, and vitaminD status.
Most absorption of nutrients occurs in the small intestine. The mucosa of the small
intestine is arranged in microscopic folds, which in turn contain even smaller finger
like projections called villi. The cells of the villi are covered with microscopic hairs,
microvilli, projecting from the cell membrane. The folds, villi, and microvilli of the
intestinal mucosa provide a huge surface area for nutrient absorption. Cells of the
intestines are specialized to absorb different nutrients. Readily digested nutrients are

Body Rituals Among the Nacirema Essay
Body Rituals Among the Nacirema, by Horace Miner, is an essay written about the
Nacirema, or American people, from an outsider s perspective. Miner gives an
insight on the Nacireman people, which he describes in his essay as an unknown
tribe, and the completing of the Nacireman s magical beliefs and practices, which
involve daily, involuntary body rituals that cause much pain and discomfort. Miner
shows how an outsider s perspective can affect the way a cultureis seen. In his essay,
Miner uses a tone that is formal and unbiased, which happens to be humorous at the
same time. Miner s thesis is clear, he is simply showing the reader of these practices.
It is understandable that Miner is speaking of a strange culture with rituals that...

Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals
A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers.
The child sprints over to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the
glass of the enclosure which reads, Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the
tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let them back into the wild to
live free? Based on statistics from public zoosacross America, the unfortunate answer
to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos are
not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals
should not be kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animalspecies,
provide little or no education about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the
animals physically and mentally.
Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain
species would become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately
fail at the conservation of animal species. Animals who are endangered will likely
never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos: Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author
of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no contact of any kind
with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to
zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence
for zoos and aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation

Football Injuries In Football
Unlike the Greek hero Achilles, soccer players have more than one weak spot. The
lower extremities particularly the knees and ankles are most frequently affected,
but the other areas of the body are also punished by this widely played sport and are
not immune to injury. Most of these injuries are superficial, and play can be resumed
after a short layoff. Now and then, a player may suffer a more than serious injury,
which requires appropriate first aidand further expert treatment.
1.Skin Injuries
As an external protective covering of the human body, the skin is particularly
vulnerable to sports injuries. Abrasions, skin detachment or lacerations are not
uncommon on the soccer field. These skin injuries can be very painful but are
usually harmless and heal quickly with no external intervention. Larger wounds must
first be cleaned, then disinfected and eventually wrapped with a sterile dressing.
Always bear in mind that a skin injury enables germs to enter the body; therefore a
wound always presents the danger of infection.
a.Abrasions
First Aid
To reduce the risk of infection, the surface of the wound should be cleaned with a
Ringer s or saline solution. Then disinfect the wound with a gentle skin disinfectant
and cover it with a sterile, non adhesive wound dressing. Play can usually then be
resumed immediately
Therapy
Later in the healing process, an infection must be prevented. If necessary, the bandage
should be changed daily and the wound cleaned with an
Dangers Of Coral Reefs
As many know, coral reefs are the most beautiful, structurally complicated and diverse
marine ecosystems. Coral reefs do numerous amounts of things; for example, they
provide habitats for various types of living organisms, they protect shorelines from
storm damage, and produce and sustain white sandy beaches. Although coralreefs
look feeble, they are actually strong and durable during certain conditions. Coral
reefs are capable of recovering from brutal storms and even volcanic eruptions as
long as the dusts and sediments settle and are washed away. Before the reefs can
begin their healing process, the water condition needs to be clean and clear of all
toxins. What s killing the coral reefs then? Sadly, human enterprise is simultaneously
destroying coral reefs directly and reducing their capacity to recover (Fujita,2003).
First, we will talk about 3 major threats human enterprise has on the coral reefs. Keep
in mind that the threats mentioned are not the only threats out there. We shall then
talk about evidence against some of these topics. Last, we will talk about how these
threats towards our coral reefs affect us humans; along with ways to change our
environment.
One of the major threats of human enterprise is overfishing/harmful fishing.
According to Fujita, Overfishing is rampant in many coral reef countries, driven by
increasing demand and rising expense for coral reef fish which have become major
status symbols in the fancy restaurants of Hong Kong and other major
Sacrifice and Identity Essay
Topic: Belonging to a group always involves sacrificing aspects of one s identity
Identity is the set of behavioral or personal characteristics by which an individual is
recognizable as a member of a group. Each people have their own personality, being

some similarity with others that connected them together as a community or a group.
However, these groups is not open for all people, some people have to sacrifice their
aspects of identity in order to belong to the group that they want to join.

There are some groups that none of us has any choice in whether we belong to
them or not. Factors such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at
birth, groups that we belong to, yet cannot choose, and many of these endure
throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even social status can be
altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s
identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even
more important as in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even
religion actively create individual identity.
As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we
want to find belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a
football club or friendship group, to more life altering choices such as being a
member of a political party or protest group such as Green peace. As individuals
make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to increase
and from their ever changing sense of self. Such choices can also be made after life
altering circumstances, such as when people feel a need to join victim s group or
support groups when they or a loved one contract a chronic or terminal illness.

Effects Of Being Mixed Race On The Rural South Essay
Effects of being Mixed Race in the Rural South The mixing of races in the rural
South was frowned upon up by society beginning as early as the start of slavery.
Although the practice of mixing races was seen as a taboo, slave owners often had
children with their slaves. The children of the slave owners and slaves were of
mixed race, known as the mulatto, having half black and half white genetics.
When races continued to be mixed, measurements were created by the Creoles of
Louisiana as a system of determining how mixed an individual was. This caste
system was used as a universal understanding of how much black a mixed person
had in their genetics. The issue of race was not simply based on the color of skin,
it was about the genetic make up and history of the individual. Having any
percentage of black heritage was seen as a distasteful. The problem of being a
mixed race is the highlight of authors Victor SГ©jour and Kate Chopin in their
narratives The Mulatto and .DГ©sirГ©e s Baby . Both writers portray a character
who struggles with their roots and societal pressure to conform to what society views
as right and wrong. Beginning with The Mulatto by Victor SГ©jour, the author tells a
story within a story of a former slave named Georges. In this narrative, SГ©jour
mentions several different aspects a slave, in particular a mulatto, encounters,
including issues of broken families, the denial of human affection, double relation of
father and master, and hatred. Kate Chopin

characters, Curly (played by Hugh Jackman) and Laurey (played by Josefina

should be. The setting of Oklahoma! occurs during the development of the west in
the state of Oklahoma. Furthermore, as the story progresses, both Curly and Laurey
remain distant from one another and try to provoke jealousy, in order to make the
other admit their love. However, both Laurey and Curly indirectly cause harm to
many individuals around, by provoking jealousy. One specific character, Jud (played

The theme revolves around the idea that if one does not express their true feelings
and remain true to themselves, consequences could ensue that may involve others
who had nothing to do with their issues in the first place. This theme could be
derived from the inciting incident, the rising action and the climax. The inciting
incident occurs due to the fact that Laurey chooses Jud over Curley in order to see
how he would react. This example remains true to the theme since jealousy is the
main force driving Laurey to commit to her actions, all the while remaining in
denial of actually liking Jud. Moreover, Curley, being jealous of Jud, decides to
pay him a visit which causes a commotion and a worsens the relationship between
the two characters. Furthermore, this theme is at its peak relevancy when Laurey
has her dream sequence. In Laurey s dream sequence, it is obvious that she has
feelings for Curley, however, since she chooses to remain in denial and pursues the
act of making Curley jealous, her dream sequence takes a turn for the worst. As her
[Laurey] dream sequence progresses, she starts having visions of being raped and
begins to see Curley being hurt by Jud, thus show her how her childish acts have
hurt others and herself included. By leading Jud to believe that she has feelings
for him, he begins to develop great feelings for her, therefore, at the climax of the
play, Jud returns for Curley and Laurey s wedding in order to kill Curley, however,
it is Jud that dies in the end. The consequences of Laurey remaining in denial and
being jealous, led to her almost being raped and the death of Jud. One could also
argue that it was Jud s jealousy of Curley that led to his

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Energy
Almost all human activities rely on some form of energy. There are various
sources of energy in the world and the most commonly used is coal. However, due
to a decline of coal deposits, need for alternative sources of energy have gained
popularity in the past few decades. There are various sources of energy, which have
been used as alternatives for example hydropower, wind power, geothermal energy,
and the most important of all, nuclear energy. As the world s population expands,
so does demand for nuclear energy. With technological advances, the utilization of
nuclear energy has become ubiquitous in peoples lives. The widespread use of
nuclear energy has been a controversial issue for many years as there have been a lot
of problems that arose with its usage. Nuclear Poweris an essential and a valuable
energy source yet still poses many significant risks globally.
Nuclear Energy by definition is the energy consumed or produced in modifying
composition of the atomic nucleus. It is the process where atoms are split hence
producing heat, which in turn creates energy. The discovery of nuclear energy began
in the early 1950 s with Rontgen s X Ray discovery in 1895 after scientists unraveled
the atomic structure and concluded that all atoms have protons and neutrons. The
German s were the first in carrying out the fission in uranium atoms in 1895 after the
discovery of Uranium by a German chemist by the name of Martin Klaproth. German

The Pressure To Read
I remember being pressured to experience another world, the world of books. I
remember late nights, trying to read the last 30 pages before the next day, so I
could take a test. It wasn t always like that. I used to enjoy reading before then. The
struggle came, when I started reading because of peer pressure, and reading
assignments. The burden of reading for others made me consider, more, the
reward of reading for myself. I had wonderful memories of reading and writing in
my early childhood. My mother was the one who first taught me how to read. She
would teach my brother, and I would just catch on. My mother pushed me to do
good, but that wasn t hard, because I had always liked a challenge. I enjoyed
reading any kid s genre, because nothing was inappropriate at that age. My favorite
books were the Berenstain Bears and books by Dr. Seuss. I would flip through the
pages and giggle at the stories, comparing them to reality. The book Green Eggs
and Ham by Dr. Seuss is a book I remember having an impact on me. It might have
been a little impact, but it taught me try things out before I judge them. I liked
reading so much that I wrote my own book and read it to the class, who enjoyed it.

Reading expands my horizons and helps me become open minded to how others
think and feel, which can help me become a good writer. Reading is a big part of
writing. I used to think I could pull it off, when really, I couldn t. Also, I can
expand my vocabulary with reading. My vocabulary was getting worse when I
wasn t reading. My spelling began to fail me. When I told my sister that I wanted
to expand my vocabulary to sound smart, she told me not to sound smart. She told
me to be smart. Reading helps you become smart, and I will need that intelligence

Hugh Howey Shift
A home is a place of relaxing, thinking and most importantly, life. The story Shift by
Hugh Howey is a story with a gigantic amount of twists throughout the story which
get you with surprise and frustration. Donald is a democrat who is recently elected
and hopes to bring change to washington. A setting that I thought was important was
Donalds childhood drawing. It represented a memory that was long forgotten and
yet very important to Donald as it helped him remember his past in preparation for
his future. Although, this picture was also very dangerous. It was a picture which
was to be, the end of the world. I felt that this picture made Donald even more
serious about his job and his life, and it helps him to realise that even the smallest

The Theory Of Hereditary Succession Thomas Paine
Hereditary succession referred to the continuation of a monarch s political reign
through passing the sovereignty to his kin. However, hereditary succession ignored
civil liberties and equalities. As mankind was originally founded on equality,
hereditary succession discredited equal opportunity, especially since the kingship
was exclusive. In the eyes of Thomas Paine, the continuation of a royal family s
reign refuted equality and liberty to colonial settlers. The election of a king was not
based on political savvy but personal ancestry. This left the Thirteen Coloniesin a
precarious situation as they were susceptible to the will of their monarch, who could
easily become a tyrant. Furthermore, hereditary cemented a political divide and

Thomas Paine logically argued for political liberation in his pamphlet while using
propaganda tactics to appeal to the entire colonial population. Through simple
rhetoric, common metaphors, and repetition, Paine persuaded the settlers to declare
independence. Through listing grievances against the British government, the
culpabilities of the sovereignty, and the contradiction of hereditary succession,
emancipation became obvious for the livelihood of the emerging American nation.
Furthermore, liberation was imperative to secure the civil liberties the colonial
settlers. Additionally, his writings promoted the creation of a democratic government
to guarantee the liberty and equality. With the political tensions between the
American colonies and the British Empire remaining unresolved, Paine advocated for
freedom because it was the easiest option. Additionally, Thomas Paine believed the
most common sense, rationale decision was to declare independence, even if it meant
war. Given the inability for the British Empire to adequately govern the emerging
American nation, Thomas Paine advocated that the Thirteen Colonies should be in
control of their own political

Essay About Food

  • 1. Essay About Food Crafting an essay on the broad and seemingly simple topic of "Essay About Food" may appear deceptively easy at first glance. After all, everyone eats, and food is an integral part of our daily lives. However, delving into the intricacies of this subject can prove to be a challenging task. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between the personal and the universal. On one hand, you want to infuse your essay with a unique perspective, perhaps drawing on your own experiences and cultural background. On the other hand, you must navigate the challenge of making your essay relatable and engaging for a diverse audience with varying tastes and preferences. Moreover, the vastness of the topic demands careful consideration of the scope. Should you focus on the cultural significance of food, its impact on health, the joy of cooking, or the environmental implications of our food choices? Narrowing down your focus while still providing a comprehensive view is a delicate tightrope walk. Research also plays a crucial role. To create a well-rounded essay, you might need to delve into historical, sociological, and scientific aspects of food. This requires time and effort in sifting through a multitude of sources to extract relevant and credible information. Additionally, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and offering fresh insights. With countless essays already written on the subject, finding a unique angle that captivates your audience becomes paramount. It's about bringing something new to the table, so to speak. Finally, the art of eloquent expression comes into play. Conveying your thoughts and ideas in a clear, coherent, and engaging manner is essential. The language should be appetizing, drawing readers in and keeping them hooked until the final bite. In conclusion, while an essay on the topic of food might seem straightforward, the complexity lies in crafting a piece that is both personal and universally appealing, well-researched yet concise, and, most importantly, fresh and engaging. It's a culinary feat of words that requires skill, time, and dedication. For those seeking assistance in navigating these challenges, consider exploring resources like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be accessed and even ordered, offering valuable insights and support in the essay-writing journey. • 2. Bridegroom And The Bride Analysis 2.Considering the model of the church that you studied during the last face to face session, which biblical image/s correspond/s to it? And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. (Hosea 2:19) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Gen. 2:24 I will answer this question based on what I think to be a good biblical image that models the church. For me the model of the church is the Bridegroom and the Bride. Marriage is a powerful word that signifies more than a relationship or even more than an intimacy. Marriage is a sacred union of two people without a line that distinguishes one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is true that His love is unfathomable, stubborn and compelling. It is unfortunate that humans cannot respond well to His love because the kind of love humankind knew is comparable to dust just like who they are. Indeed, God cannot separate Himself from His nature, which is love. Truly, humankind cannot deny the power of His love that surrounds them through His creations and more so in them for human is the masterpiece of His love. This love is demonstrated from the time of creation lavishing them with excellent gifts to keep them satisfied in life and that will culminate in His second coming to take them to be His bride. He prepared the New Heaven as a gift where they life together forevermore. Frankly, human is undeserving of His love because they are evil, idolaters and unfaithful. However, despite the situation He continued loving them expressing it by descending off His throne, to be with His created beings and to die on the cross in their behalf that through His death they can live. The cross indicates Jesus union with His church and a guarantee of inheritance at present and until the day He comes back when the bribe is all ready for the glorious
  • 3. Flood Narrative ( Genesis 6-9 ) Vs. Epic Gilgamesh And... Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) vs. Epic Gilgamesh, Tablet XI The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noah and Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, Godtells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is logical to due to the fact that Noah only had his family and animals on the ark, while Uta napishti has his family, friends, animals, silver and gold, and all valuables needed to reestablish the earth once the floods had passed. Once the floods did indeed pass, the Noah s ark stopped in the mountains of Ararat and Uta napishti s boat stopped at Mount Nimush. However, both Noah and Uta napishti had to wait and make sure that the floods had truly stopped. Genesis reads, The waters continued to abate until the tenth month...on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains reappeared (Genesis 8:5). Similarly, Epic Gilgamesh reads, One day and a second, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion, a third day and a fourth, Mount Nimush held the boat fast, allowed it no motion (Gilgamesh, XI, 143 145). It s a coincidence that both of these mountains are located in the Middle East. After enduring a catastrophic flood, Noah and Uta napishti had to remain in their shelter for days on end. Nevertheless, these men are admirable for their dedication and perseverance. Unfortunately, Noah had to persevere significantly longer time than Gilgamesh. In the Epic Gilgamesh, the flood only lasted six days and seven nights: For six days and nights, there blew the wind, the downpour, the gale, the Deluge, it flattened the land. But the seventh day when it came, the gale relented, the Deluge ended

While it can be quite challenging to work in teams towards a common goal due to different personality types that people have it is very advantageous for both individuals and the organizations involved (Rasing, 2013).The paper will highlight on some of the positive experiences that exist for working in teams.it will at what people learn from working in tams.it will further look at how teams are used in workplaces and other areas like education. Finally it will look at the advantages of team work and how teamwork skills might benefit a specific field. Experiences of working with teams I have worked with teams under very many occasions in school and also in my current workplace. I have had both positive and negative experiences when working with teams.in terms of positive experiences I can say that there was a lot of cooperation from other team members and hence any task given to us that required to be executed by the team was effectively executed. Through teamwork there was the creation of better communication from team members and hence positive relations were built (Rasing, 2013).On several occasions especially in school, I was helped by other team members particularly on my weak areas and hence I was able to improve on my weak areas. On the other hand there are also some negative experiences that I
  • 5. Stanislavski s Expectations Of Acting As The Imitation Of... Acting, known by most as the imitation of life. Many theorists have gone to extreme lengths to try to recreate the behaviors of man in everyday life, whether it be Stanislavski s method of using past experiences, Chekhov s technique of imagining a situation, or naturalism s use of the environment. But there are some that deny this goal of acting, they believe theatrecan be so much more when it isn t bound to the restraints of imitation. Tadashi Suzuki was one such man, who believed the goal of acting should not be to be realistic, but for the actorto use all means necessary to convince the audience of a truth. No actor has or will ever be able to master the Suzuki Method of Acting, because it s not meant to be mastered, it raises the actor to his maximum potential, and leads the actor to always strive to be even better. This can be reflected through the exercises, many actors, while doing the exercises, tend to notice faults in their acting, and correct them, without even needing the guide of a teacher. • 8. Old Testament Essay Old Testament Essay In the Beginning: At the beginning of the universe. God created heaven and earth in six days and rested on the seventh. During those six days God spoke to the darkness and created the world, brought forth light, created the sky, land and animals and plants to inhabit them. However, even during this creation he was contemplating the creation of a being made in his own image. He created man from dust and named him Adam, but Adam was lonely; so God took from Adam a rib. With Adam s rib God created a woman and called her Eve. Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden to live in harmony with God. The garden was a perfect utopia for Adam and Eve. However, evil soon entered the garden in the form of a serpent. One day when Eve was walking in the garden she encountered the evil serpent who encouraged her to take a fruit from one of God s forbidden fruit trees. The serpent succeeded in deceiving Eve to take a fruit; she then ate the fruit and shared it with Adam. Then God became angry with Adam and Eve for betraying Him. To punish Adam and Eve, he ejected them from the garden and subjecting them to mortality, painful childbirth, sin and shame. Now that Adam and Eve had entered into the world outside the garden they were left to fend for themselves. They had two sons Cain and Abel. Cain became a farmer and Able became a herdsman. The characters Romeo Mercutio develop a unique foil; Mercutio, the player, and Romeo, the lover. Both characters have unique characteristics that set themselves apart, but all in all, bind them together. Romeo is one of the main characters in the play. Romeo is romantic and has a passion to love and be loved. He uses words to express his love. Firstly, for example, in Act 1 Scene 5, If I profane with my unworthiest hand, this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this; my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand. He is a player and has a different outlook on love. Primarily, in Act 1 Scene 4, Mercutio says If love be rough with you, be rough with love; Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down. (W. Shakespeare 829) He suggests that Romeo disregard love, and in addition, to have sex to get over it. Also, one possible reason that Mercutio despises love is that he s possibly heartbroken. Secondly, in Act 1 Scene 4, he describes Queen Mab as one who gives people what they want, in her dreams. For example, On courtiers knees, that dream on curtsies straight; O er lawyers fingers, who straight dream on fees; O er ladies lips, who straight on kisses dream. (W. Shakespeare 830) These dreams are insignificant, and as a result, Mercutio tells Romeo about Queen Mab; his dreams about Juliet are insignificant. Finally, Mercutio is apparently jealous of Romeo. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, his lines label him as a pessimistic non lover. In Act 2 Scene 4, Mercutio says Alas, poor Romeo! He is already dead, stabbed with a white wench s black eye, shot through the ear with a love song, the very pin of his heart cleft with the blind bow boy s butt shaft. And is he a man to encounter Tybalt? (W. Shakespeare 858) He says that of all Romeo has been through, he can t even go up to Tybalt. So, Mercutio is possibly jealous of Romeo because he can t

Back then, only one type of music generally rule the music industry, but today, there are countless types of music a person can explore and relate to. The song I Hate U I Love U by Gnash was released February 17, 2016 (Wikipedia). The lyrics was inspired by a very sensitive topic about a specific stage of a relationship; the break up. The entirety of this track revolves around the emotional rollercoaster of what maleand femaleusually experience after being separated from someone they have committed themselves to. It illustrates the confusion that occurs during the latter days of a relationship, the discord during the initially agreement of separation and the disturbance it causes to one s personal life after the separation. Listeners of this song were instantly captivated by the fluidity of the musical patterns and its relatable lyrics. Gnash recorded this song with Olivia O Brien on 2015. • 11. Imagery Depicted Through T.S. Eliot s The Hollow Men Essay The imagery depicted in T.S. Eliot s poem quot; The Hollow Men quot; evokes a sense of desolate hopelessness and lends to Eliot s generally cynical view of civilization during this period in history. A reaction of deep and profound disappointment in mankind around him is made evident in this stark work, first published in 1925. In this short piece, Eliotenumerates several deep faults he finds in his fellowman, including hypocrisy, apathy and indifference, and leaves the reader with a feeling of overwhelming emptiness. An important feature of this poem is the fact that the narration of the poem is in first person. This establishes Eliot s and the readers relationship to the images and ideas presented. Eliot then mentions the dead, calling them quot; Those who have crossed...to death s other kingdom. quot; These people are made real by Eliot s repeated mention of their eyes. He refers to them first as making their crossing into death with quot;direct eyes, quot; meaning that they faced and succumbed to death, unable to turn away. Also he states they have quot;eyes I dare not meet in dreams, quot; indicating that this narrator fears addressing death, either his own or those who have quot;crossed. quot; Later in the poem, in part IV, Eliot returns to the eyes imagerywith quot; The eyes are not here/There are no eyes here. quot; The absence of eyes, here, indicates Eliot s condemnation of indifference among those still living to the fate of the dead. Further into section IV he presents quot; The hope only/Of empty men quot; as being when and if quot; The eyes reappear/ As the perpetual star. quot; Here Eliot calls for an opening of eyes and cessation of apathy and indifference to these deaths. The idea of being afraid to face death and feeling guilt over the deaths of others contributes to the full explanation of what Eliot means by quot;hollow men. quot; Besides being afraid to face the eyes of the dead, just as the criminal cannot face the eyes of his victim, this narrator also expresses a desire to hide from death itself. Nature and nurture are partners in how developing people interact with the surrounding environment (Shonkoff Phillips, 2012). The question is no longer nurture versus nature but rather nurture through nature (Shonkoff Phillips, 2012). Since parentingand other environmental factors have the ability to offset temperament difficulties, it is important for parents to understand how to interpret their child s emotions and help them work through them. 2.Parenting Styles Parents have a direct impact on the development of their child. Parenting style during infancy has an effect on the self system development in toddler and has a life long impact on the child (Reed, 2015). The four parenting styles are authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglecting. The authoritative style of parenting has been found to be the best for optimal development, these children have been found to have better self control, higher self esteem, higher academic achievement, and express more happiness (Reed, 2015). Longitudinal studies have shown that higher levels of positive parenting techniques (such as those of authoritative parents) leads to fewer behavioral problems, greater social competence and more positive social outcomes for children (Danzig, et al., 2015). Experiencing someone important to oneself dying is something most human beings can connect to. The difference is how one perceives death and how one deals with it on an emotional level. There are countless examples of books with different, unique interpretations of deathbut this essay will focus on just two: Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both of these stories have main characters that must come to terms with death but the ways they go about it and the conclusions they come to are vastly different. Death is used as a literary device to show the benefits of letting go and acceptance of things that people can not change in both The Garden Party and Frankenstein by showing opposite ways one can handle death and the results of those choices. Death in The Garden Party evolves from being a horrible thing that happens to be a beautiful, peaceful conclusion of someone s life. This change in perception comes to the main character, Laura, as she matures from a child into an adult. As Laura changes throughout the story she goes from treating death as a tragedy to accepting it as a natural event in everyone s life. After she visits the woman whose husband died the narrator states What did garden parties and baskets and lace frocks matter to him? He was far from all those things (Mansfield 81). Miner gives an insight on the Nacireman people, which he describes in his essay as an unknown tribe, and the completing of the Nacireman s magical beliefs and practices, which involve daily, involuntary body rituals that cause much pain and discomfort. Miner shows how an outsider s perspective can affect the way a cultureis seen. In his essay, Miner uses a tone that is formal and unbiased, which happens to be humorous at the same time. • 32. Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers. The child sprints over to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the glass of the enclosure which reads, Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let them back into the wild to live free? Based on statistics from public zoosacross America, the unfortunate answer to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos are not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals should not be kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animalspecies, provide little or no education about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the animals physically and mentally. Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain species would become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately fail at the conservation of animal species. Animals who are endangered will likely never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos: Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no contact of any kind with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence for zoos and aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation upon conversing with

The lower extremities particularly the knees and ankles are most frequently affected, but the other areas of the body are also punished by this widely played sport and are not immune to injury. Most of these injuries are superficial, and play can be resumed after a short layoff. Now and then, a player may suffer a more than serious injury, which requires appropriate first aidand further expert treatment. 1.Skin Injuries As an external protective covering of the human body, the skin is particularly vulnerable to sports injuries. Abrasions, skin detachment or lacerations are not uncommon on the soccer field. These skin injuries can be very painful but are usually harmless and heal quickly with no external intervention. Larger wounds must first be cleaned, then disinfected and eventually wrapped with a sterile dressing. Always bear in mind that a skin injury enables germs to enter the body; therefore a wound always presents the danger of infection. a.Abrasions First Aid To reduce the risk of infection, the surface of the wound should be cleaned with a Ringer s or saline solution. Then disinfect the wound with a gentle skin disinfectant and cover it with a sterile, non adhesive wound dressing. Play can usually then be resumed immediately Therapy Later in the healing process, an infection must be prevented. If necessary, the bandage should be changed daily and the wound cleaned with an
  • 34. Dangers Of Coral Reefs As many know, coral reefs are the most beautiful, structurally complicated and diverse marine ecosystems. Coral reefs do numerous amounts of things; for example, they provide habitats for various types of living organisms, they protect shorelines from storm damage, and produce and sustain white sandy beaches. Although coralreefs look feeble, they are actually strong and durable during certain conditions. Coral reefs are capable of recovering from brutal storms and even volcanic eruptions as long as the dusts and sediments settle and are washed away. Before the reefs can begin their healing process, the water condition needs to be clean and clear of all toxins. What s killing the coral reefs then? Sadly, human enterprise is simultaneously destroying coral reefs directly and reducing their capacity to recover (Fujita,2003). First, we will talk about 3 major threats human enterprise has on the coral reefs. Keep in mind that the threats mentioned are not the only threats out there. We shall then talk about evidence against some of these topics. Last, we will talk about how these threats towards our coral reefs affect us humans; along with ways to change our environment. One of the major threats of human enterprise is overfishing/harmful fishing. According to Fujita, Overfishing is rampant in many coral reef countries, driven by increasing demand and rising expense for coral reef fish which have become major status symbols in the fancy restaurants of Hong Kong and other major

Even though it s different, each people have some similarity with others that connected them together as a community or a group. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some groups that none of us has any choice in whether we belong to them or not. Factors such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at birth, groups that we belong to, yet cannot choose, and many of these endure throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even social status can be altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even more important as in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even religion actively create individual identity. As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we want to find belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a football club or friendship group, to more life altering choices such as being a member of a political party or protest group such as Green peace. As individuals make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to increase and from their ever changing sense of self. Such choices can also be made after life altering circumstances, such as when people feel a need to join victim s group or support groups when they or a loved one contract a chronic or terminal illness. Statement of Intention: This essay is written in formal form with the topics of identity and belonging. With this piece of writing, the audience that I m targeting is teenager until
  • 36. Effects Of Being Mixed Race On The Rural South Essay Effects of being Mixed Race in the Rural South The mixing of races in the rural South was frowned upon up by society beginning as early as the start of slavery. Although the practice of mixing races was seen as a taboo, slave owners often had children with their slaves. The children of the slave owners and slaves were of mixed race, known as the mulatto, having half black and half white genetics. When races continued to be mixed, measurements were created by the Creoles of Louisiana as a system of determining how mixed an individual was. This caste system was used as a universal understanding of how much black a mixed person had in their genetics. The issue of race was not simply based on the color of skin, it was about the genetic make up and history of the individual. Having any percentage of black heritage was seen as a distasteful. The problem of being a mixed race is the highlight of authors Victor SГ©jour and Kate Chopin in their narratives The Mulatto and .DГ©sirГ©e s Baby . Both writers portray a character who struggles with their roots and societal pressure to conform to what society views as right and wrong. Beginning with The Mulatto by Victor SГ©jour, the author tells a story within a story of a former slave named Georges. In this narrative, SГ©jour mentions several different aspects a slave, in particular a mulatto, encounters, including issues of broken families, the denial of human affection, double relation of father and master, and hatred. The theme revolves around the idea that if one does not express their true feelings and remain true to themselves, consequences could ensue that may involve others who had nothing to do with their issues in the first place. This theme could be derived from the inciting incident, the rising action and the climax. The inciting incident occurs due to the fact that Laurey chooses Jud over Curley in order to see how he would react. This example remains true to the theme since jealousy is the main force driving Laurey to commit to her actions, all the while remaining in denial of actually liking Jud. Moreover, Curley, being jealous of Jud, decides to pay him a visit which causes a commotion and a worsens the relationship between the two characters. Furthermore, this theme is at its peak relevancy when Laurey has her dream sequence. In Laurey s dream sequence, it is obvious that she has feelings for Curley, however, since she chooses to remain in denial and pursues the act of making Curley jealous, her dream sequence takes a turn for the worst. As her [Laurey] dream sequence progresses, she starts having visions of being raped and begins to see Curley being hurt by Jud, thus show her how her childish acts have hurt others and herself included. By leading Jud to believe that she has feelings for him, he begins to develop great feelings for her, therefore, at the climax of the play, Jud returns for Curley and Laurey s wedding in order to kill Curley, however, it is Jud that dies in the end. The consequences of Laurey remaining in denial and being jealous, led to her almost being raped and the death of Jud. One could also argue that it was Jud s jealousy of Curley that led to his

In the eyes of Thomas Paine, the continuation of a royal family s reign refuted equality and liberty to colonial settlers.
