The SAARC region with over a billion populations is contiguous to the Indian Ocean,
Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Utilization of ocean resources for power
generation such as tidal, thermal solar and wind for energy, along with other green
technologies like seaweed farming and sustainable fisheries for food would need to
be incorporated in a broad framework for the region. Development of ocean based
energy systems can be integrated with early warning networks linked by satellite
which can give a few hours to days warning to help mitigate the severity of natural

Television s Impact on the Teenagers of Today
The way teens have been portrayed on television over the years has evolved quite
drastically. Now more than ever tv shows have catered towards this adolescent age
group. Young people consume hours of television shows over the week, and it s what
they are consuming that can be the cause of concern. How teenagers are represented
on television has an impact on the very teens who are watching these programs.

There is no doubt that television has played a large role in influencing the teenagers
of today. When television had first started in the United States there were only 3
channels available NBC, CBS and ABC. Any opportunity to show content targeted
toward teens was not really available at the time. When FOX came on the scene in
the 1980 s, they were able to cater to the younger generation with shows like BET
and MTV (Jamieson and Romer 18). Music was a key entry point; combined with
television, it became popular among teens. And as corporations realized the spending
power of teenagers, and the potential influence they could have on them, they started
targeting this new audience.
According to the Teen Health and the Media web site, American teenagers on
average spend about 20 hours a week watching television. This means that by the
age of 18 they will have been exposed to over 350,000 advertisements on television
and 100,000 of that would include alcohol ads. This means that teens are using a
third of their day to watch TV. (Teen Health and the Media). A great example of the
effectiveness of advertising is when Victor Strasburger from the American Academy
of Pediatrics shared a research study about the effects of advertising. A group of

Texas is home to thirty five operating breweries, but when speaking of the cultural
landscape and the effects the breweries have had on the environment around them it
is best to relate it to our home, the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Going back to when
breweries first got their start in Texas, around 1860, the landscape was the one doing
the influencing on the brewingculture. Because, of the lack of refrigeration and the
Texas heat, brewers were forced to only create their local brews in the cool months.
Due to the environment, lack of technological advances, and law enforcement
(prohibition), Texas breweries of the past would not have the impact that they had

back to their local community. The younger culture is beginning to show more

locations weekly to help, not only their own growth, but to aid in the growth of
local businesses. Another interesting idea that Rahr has begun is connecting the

Coffee. Ideas such as this only reinforce the idea of aiding in the local business
industry and influencing locals to give to their community and help it prosper. With

There are many cubicles in rows of each other. Neo and his coworkers are all
trapped in the world of their work. The workers all do the same thing, they work in

staying ignorant because he isn t doing anything to get out of this state. The

INTRODUCTION
Endometriosis is a condition that affects around 6 10% of the female population12
and can have distressing effects on the lives of these women. The exact cause of
endometriosis is unknown3 but it is thought that genetics play a role as daughters or
sisters of women are at higher risk.13 Endometriosis is also a cause of infertility2
with around 30 50% of women with endometriosis also being infertile.12
Endometriosis can affect any woman regardless of age or ethnicity14 and can affect
children as young as eight. In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is one of the most common
methods used in artificial reproduction12 and in this essay, I will be discussing what
I chose to use the more cited articles for this essay as they would most likely be the
more reliable reference. I also used well known book sources as references such as
Principals of Anatomy and Physiology by Tortura and Derrickson and also the
Dorland s illustrated dictionary. The last resource I used were well known and

What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a common condition1 recognised by the growth of endometrial
tissue outside of the uterus. This tissue is then found in a variety of sites such as the
ovaries, the outside surface of the uterus, the cervix, the abdominal wall, the sigmoid
colon and the urinary bladder.2 It is unknown what exactly causes endometriosis but
it is thought to occur when some cells from the endometrium (the lining of the uterus)
