Ans. What is globalization?
Globalization means integrating our economy with world economy. Globalization helps in interaction
between people, companies and governments through exchange of goods and services, grants, and
exchange of technology.

the rupee devaluated and India at that time had reserve for imports of only three weeks. So the Indian
government had taken a step towards globalization for wellness of Indian economy.

Abstract
With the great speed of economic globalization, E Business is developing in a surprising speed
through the wide spread of information technology. Nowadays, there are a lot of big E business
corporations such as Amazon, E bay focus on different E business model and field. However when
these international companies carving up the global market, some local enterprises also growing up

Until 2005, this
Taobao s Success 5 problem was solved by eBay Each, but without doubt, eBay Each lost its
advantage in credit transaction.
Third, eBay Each used advertisement blocking tactics to fight Taobao. In 2003, the biggest three portal
in China (Sohu, Sina, 163) made a deal with e Bay that they would never use Taobao s advertisement.
To fix this problem, Taobao use a lot of traditional medium such as newspaper, TV or subway stops,
bus, road advertising. Moreover, Taobao also made a co operation with Yahoo, using Yahoo s search
bid, investing 2 million keywords. Then Taobao increased the keywords to 3 million, and the hits up to
6million in one day. That made Taobao beyond its opponent in two key indicators, accounting for the
initiative in future competition. Furthermore, another difference in Taobao s advertisements, their
membership in the trading process could feel lively culture of family. Fourth, eBay Each and Taobao
had a significant understianding gap in market positioning. EBay Each have their global strategy and
want to do business with the people who are 30 40years old. While Taobao s strategy is localization,
and its target population was also younger than its counterpart. Last but not least, Taobao encouraged
their buyer and seller makes private transaction, and supported a convenient platform. One example is
the communication tool for members in a timely manner Live Messenger. If the user enters a shop,

The Scientific Method Essay
The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when
conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non arbitrary
representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order
of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist
must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then, through
repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the
hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with
another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This ... Show more content on

Furthermore, flies were observed laying eggs where the maggots formed. Thus, he concluded that
maggots are the result of flies, not spontaneous generation. He then called the principles behind his
experiment Metodo Scientifico or The Scientific Method.
The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found earlier,
though, back in the studies of Galileo, early in the 17th century. He first observed that heavy objects
gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of massive objects
was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific Method, he tested
his hypothesis and found it to be false, since objects falling unequal distances do not fall in the same
amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he made a new one, which
proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the time the object has spent
falling. This was tested by rolling balls down an inclined plane and calculating the speed and time
values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the discovery of the gravitational
constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method.
The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been
considered a valid way of conducting experiments since

Essay on Boer War
The Boer War was a conflict that lasted from 1899 to 1902 in southern Africa between Great Britain
and their allies, Transvaal (South African Republic) and Orange Free State, in what is now South
Africa.
Throughout the 19th century, after Great Britain conquered the Cape of Good Hope in 1814 and
expanded its territory in Southern Africa, there was tension between the British settlers and the Dutch
descended population which were called Afrikaners or Boers. This resulted in the Afrikaner migration
called the Great Trek, which was from 1835 to 1843, and the establishment of the Afrikaner republics.
These republics were called Natal, Orange Free State, and the South African Republic. Natal became a
British colony in 1843, but the Transvaal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South African Republic and the Orange Free Stated made an alliance. They then declared war on
the British on October 12, 1899 because they were uncooperative with Kurger s demands. The
Afrikaner forces were successful in invading Natal and Cape Colony. In December the British
commander in chief Sir Redvers H. Buller sent fresh troops to relieve the British forces in three war
zones. These zones were Colenso, Natal, the hills of Magersfontein on the Orange Free State and Cape
Colony borders, and the mountain range of Stormberge in the Cape Colony. Within a week, which is
referred to as the Black Week by the British, each of the new units had been defeated by Afrikaner
forces.
On January 10, 1900, the British general Frederick S. Roberts was sent to replace Buller as
commander in chief. However, Buller remained to fight throughout the war. Early in February,
Roberts ordered the British commander John D. P. French north to relieve the city of Kimberley.
Roberts marched northeastward from Cape Colony into the Orange Free State. Attacked by the
Afrikaner general Piet Cronje on February 27, Roberts fought back successfully and forced the
surrender of Cronje and his troops. On March 13, Roberts entered Bloemfontein, which was the
capital of the Orange Free State. Roberts captured Johannesburg on May 31 and Pretoria on June 5.
After they won, President Kruger went to Europe and Roberts returned to England in January 1901

Isolation In The Metamorphosis
When one undergoes a Metamorphosis, they change drastically. If one changes so much, people that
are close to them normally can pull away and distance themselves from that person. In the book The
Metamorphosis , Gregor experiences this and falls victim to isolation. The Samsa family secludes
their son and stows him away from the outside world and everyday life because of his appearance and
sudden change. Being isolated for so long can cause drastic detrimental damage to one s mental and
physiological state. Once Gregor transforms into a bug, his family, horrified by his appearance, lock
him away to his room isolated from everyone and everything. The psychological distance put between
him and his family is one of the consequences Gregor suffered ... Show more content on

Prisoner Number 600001 Summary
In Prisoner Number 600001 , Tessa Morris Suzuki argues that Matsushita Kazutoshi, a Japanese
soldier who fought in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean wars, shows the harsh truth of the treatment
of prisoners of war by the forces of the United Nations. After abandoning his country, Kazutoshi
became a prisoner of war to both China and Korea. Most people don t think about all of the things that
prisoners of war had to go through and how the things that they had to do would scar them for life.
They were forced to fight in wars that they had nothing to do with and fulfill any other needs that they
had. Suzuki shows Kazutoshi s life journey through his time as a POW, which also sheds a light on
how deeply involved each country was involved in its neighbors business during the wars. ... Show

He took, in the eyes of the army and in most countries, the coward s way out and tried to escape the
war and desert his fellow soldiers. But in the end, he was thrown deeper into war than he could ever

he had deserted, though it remains uncertain whether this was a response to the horrors he had seen on
the battlefield or simply a desperate effort to survive...Soon after, the victorious Chinese Nationalist
Army arrived, captured him... Japan s surrender did not bring peace, but only a change in the name
and nature of the war . This situation is something that Kazutoshi would have never expected. This is
the life of many POWs around the world and in history. Kazutoshi was thrown country to country
fighting different wars and it could be suggested that none of this would ve happened if he had stayed.
This article shows the consequences of Kazutoshi s cowardly

Essay on Hero and Beatrice Vs. Women During the...
In William Shakespeare s play Much Ado about Nothing there are sharp contrasts between Hero and
Beatrice in comparison to women during the Shakespearean period. Hero is the typical example of a
woman during the Shakespearean period. Hero is depicted in the play as a morally upright woman of
good keep, and she seem to be a very loving and warm person in comparison to her cousin Beatrice.
However she is made out to be a whore by Claudio at her own expense on her wedding day. Beatrice
is the heroine of the play; she possesses a quick wit and a quick tongue. Beatrice does have the same
warm and loving personality as her cousin however she constantly starts merry war or make fun of
other individuals. Beatrice is not a typical woman of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Claudio maltreats Hero on her wedding day Beatrice says that, O that I was a man for his sake!
Or that I had any friend would be a man for my sake! I cannot be a man with wishing; therefore I will
die a woman with grieving (IV.i.312 318).
At a time in the play Much ado about Nothing Claudio refers to Hero as a jewel. With this description
of Hero as a jewel it can be thought that Shakespeare is using Claudio to convey to the audience the
beauty of Hero. Shakespeare could also be explaining the way in which men own women and the way
that women are property in the eyes of Shakespearean men. Beatrice clearly does not wish to be
owned or considered property and worth of a woman. As it pertains to worth in regards to Hero,
marrying Claudio can advance her father s Leonato business endeavors. Marrying Claudio could be
seen as marrying a financial, stable, secure future for Leonato and for Hero.
The climax of the play is when the wedding ceremony is aborted and Hero is shamed and she is
accused of disloyalty to Claudio. During the Shakespearean period women that were accused of
unfaithfulness before marriage would lose social standing, a standing that could never be improved.
This damaged social standing could ruin an entire family, therefore when Leonato buys into the fact
that Hero was disloyal to Claudio he attempts to dismiss her totally

The Similarities And Characteristics Of The Renaissance...
To many, the Renaissance and Neo Classical periods are so similar that you couldn t tell the
difference. In this essay we will look at the similarities and differences as well as looking more closely
at the ideals and characteristics of each movement.
In order to understand why these movements came about we must look at their precursors and their
historical backgrounds and how they affected and were affected by the social circumstances of that
time.
We will look more closely at Renaissance and Neoclassical furniture and furniture design using
examples like the Savonarola Chair, Leonardo Da Vinci s self propelled car and a Writing Table and
Marquetry commode from the Neoclassical period.

An important change that occurred was the increased focus on man rather than God/s. The
Renaissance held great importance with Realism, human emotion and scientific perfection in a quest
to create a universal form of art and design (Encyclopedia of Art History, 2014).
Although based on the principles of Greek and Roman art and design, Renaissance did not replicate it,
choosing to rather take it a step further.
There were various Renaissance movements that happened but it was Italian Renaissance that initiated
them. Two of the more important and broader versions of it were High Renaissance which used
numerical ratios and geometric forms to emulate the styles without copying them and Late
Renaissance which utilised classical elements but combined them in different, incorrect or odd ways

Critical Analysis Of Richard III
Writer s statement
William Shakespeare s, Richard III explores the idea of power. It s shown how power corrupts and
controls characters throughout the play. There are many comparisons that could be drawn between
Richard III as Machiavellian leader as alluded to in the transformative piece. The main reason for this
is the extremes that Richard would go to, to assert himself in power. The transformative piece aimed
to explore how this influenced Richard s reception when elected into power. One of the main
motivations behind the characterisations of Richard in this transformative piece, is drawn from when
Richard announces in the original play, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover, To entertain these
fair well spoken days, I am determined to prove a villain, And hate the idle pleasures of these days.
(1.1.??) From this quote the character of Richard had to be created to be cruel with no regard for the
things that make us human, this was done through how widely known his behaviour is in the article.
The Machiavellian idea is also drawn from Richard as he cannot prove a lover , which leads him to
draw on fear as a method of control. This speech is sinister yet incredibly determined, it acted as the
driving hand behind many of Richard s brutal actions, because whilst his actions are morally wrong,
he is working towards a goal. This idea laid the grounds for the investigation Richards s
determination.
The transformative is written in The Economists, which is well

When I Saw Me
Walking out of the Museum of Fine Arts on a spring night in 2013, I began to think about where my
home really was. I had just left the Boston Palestine Film Festival, where the screening of When I Saw
You by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir had really stood out to me. The movie was from the
perspective of a young Palestinian refugee named Tarek living in a camp in Jordan. Tarek goes on a
journey to return to his home in Palestine. After watching the film, I had an unshakeable feeling that
my real home was in Palestine and felt a strong urge to return to the land of my ancestors.
I developed a deeper connection to my Palestinian heritage after the film festival. These feelings were
confusing to me at first. There I was, living in the United States, feeling a powerful sentimental
attachment towards a land I ve never set foot in thousands of miles away. As a young kid, having ties
to so many places made it hard for me to develop a strong cultural identity. My ... Show more content

homeland. I visited my grandfather in New York, where he was having a reading as part of his book

mesmerized me. He told me about growing up in the small village of Suhmata, helping his parents in
the fields, and playing with his friends on the farm. His stories inspired images in my mind of
Palestine as a paradise with endless rows of olive and fig trees. Before I left, he gifted me with a
keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian headscarf and symbol of Palestinian solidarity. The keffiyeh was
made in a textile factory in Hebron, so it has a physical connection to the land. It also has sentimental
value coming from my grandfather. To this day, the keffiyeh is one of the most treasured objects I

Essay On The Puritans
The puritans were a religious group made up of people who wanted to purify, the Church of England.
The puritans were activist that wanted to get rid of the catholic system within the church. However,
people in England sought out to remove these groups of people from the area because they saw them
as a threat to their religion. This is how the puritans ended up in Massachusetts Bay Colony. The
puritans moved to this colony in hopes of recreating and ideal community, a utopian society that
others could look up to. The puritans ideal community consisted of peace and partnership; they
wanted to remove all evil and improve the quality of life. The puritans then became strict to ensure
that every person was equivalent in the eyes of God. I think the religion puritans created casted a fear
in other people especially in England because they are so used to being ruled under one king. The ...

The Puritans viewed religious and civil affairs at the same level. They did not separate the two. Even
though the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment stated that church and state were separate,
the Puritans held them close together. The Puritans strict beliefs influenced politics during this time
period. In the early stages of the puritans journey to purification, they opened a new church and slowly
they were evolving into their own beliefs. The puritans wanted to break away from the norms, and
expectations of Christian society. I believed that the puritans had the idea that by creating a new
church, they could essentially purify their life, along with others, and the way the church ruled. The
spiritual belief of the puritans was so strong that it influenced communities, laws and customs. In the
ideal world for the puritans, God is above all. The puritans, I think, wanted to remove the idea of
having a ruler, or dictatorship in control of the people, and their

Predictably Irrational Analysis
This week s reading Predictably Irrational was very valuable, and informative. While coming up with
so many ways of thinking when it comes to behavior, I had no idea even existed. We talked last week

predictable behavior. At the end of this summary I hope to have showed and understand the difference
when it comes to irrational and predictable theories that can disrupt behavior, and decision making.

experiment is where the people drank an energy drink, and those who had the more expensive version
did better in a puzzle. However, the group who had the drink whose bottle specifically said that it
helps people do better in puzzles, they actually did better than the group with the blank bottle. To me
that showed me just how pictures and the things we see really do impact our decision making. If we
see a name brand energy drink compared to a knock off brand energy drink does the name brand
energy work better? I have been in those situations where I have felt a Red Bull did better than a
monster energy drink, just because the Red Bull is more expensive. Both energy drinks in my opinion
work the same, and to be honest who is to say they aren t the same drink? I can just be different price

Cost Allocation
The purpose of cost allocation is to identify and correctly allocate costs associated with a job, product,
or service. The main uses of cost allocation are to facilitate decision making regarding costs, justify
prices charged for products and services, cost control, and for optimal utilization of resources. There
are several methods used for cost allocation, depending on the type of product or service offer by the
company.

The Step method of cost allocation, allocates costs between service departments in steps, starting with
the service department that provides the most service to the other service departments. After this
allocation takes place, the next step in the process allocates costs to the department that provides the
next most service. This keeps stepping down until all costs have been allocated between service
departments (Accounting For Management, 2012).
The Reciprocal method of allocating costs takes into account all activity between both
interdepartmental service departments and operational departments. For instance, the custodial
department services both the mail room and the manufacturing department. The cost of the portion of
custodial service provided to the mailroom would be allocated directly to the mailing department, and
cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the manufacturing department would be allocated
directly to the manufacturing department. Unlike the step method that only allocates forward from the
service departments providing the most service to those providing least, the reciprocal method can
work backward. At the same time costs of the custodial department are being allocated to the mail
room (because of the mail room being cleaned), the mail room will allocate costs to the custodial
department for the mail that needs to be picked up and delivered there. Thus, reciprocal activity is

The Real World During Quantum-Mechanical Experiments
We ve already discussed some of the experimental phenomena that inspire competing interpretations
or theories of what s going on in the real world during quantum mechanical experiments. (In brief:
Observing microscopic particles seems to either: cause them to randomly take one result or the other;
create a branching world for every possible outcome; or require hidden variables and allow for faster
than light, nonlocal communication. Particles seem not to take one path, not the other, not both, and
not neither, and even act as if they know when we re observing them.)
In this final installment of a three article series, we ll look in very broad strokes at some of the
philosophical implications of these views of quantum mechanics.
I. Logic
Standard logic is two valued. That just means that each sentence in the logic is true or false, not both,
and not neither. My cat s breath smells like cat food is either true or false; it can t both smell that way
and not smell that way at the same time to the same person, and surely it either does or it doesn t. But
as we ve seen, some interpretations of quantum mechanics might suggest adding in a new value.1
Perhaps Copenhagen style interpretations indicate that we should have a value of neither a truth value
gap and Copenhagen and many worlds interpretations indicate that we should have a value of both: a
truth value glut. 2 As it happens, there are independent philosophical reasons to explore three or four
valued logics (and

How One Neurotransmitter Affects Diet, Appetite, Mood and Cravings
You already know that an undeniable link exists between your mood and your appetite. Who hasn t

What you may not know is that emotional eating is not purely psychological. It s actually deeply
rooted in a biological response controlled by a very important chemical messenger manufactured in
the brain and gut: serotonin. Some scientists have coined it the feel good chemical, but research has
proven that this neurotransmitter is responsible for so much more than a natural high.

just to name a few. Eating foods high in serotonin improves communication between neurons in the
gut, however the impact is limited. Serotonin does not pass from the gut and into the blood (and then
to the brain) unless we also eat foods containing the building blocks necessary to allow the serotonin
to pass through something referred to as the blood brain barrier.
The blood brain barrier is a highly selective permeability barrier that separates the circulating blood
from the brain extracellular fluid in the central nervous system. It is semi permeable, so you can think
of it as a fine mesh net. Some smaller particles with specific qualities can pass through the smaller
holes of the net, but larger items are kept

Reflection Paper On Drill Experience
It was 1500 hours on a sizzling summer day in Nashville, Tennessee. I stood with pride in the same
spot my dad, grandfather, and Uncle once stood awaiting to meet the drill instructors at the Tennessee
Law Enforcement Training Center. I was a big headed, unorganized 18 year old with a bad attitude,
who was about to be faced with a tough 12 weeks. I was standing there, because being a police officer
was something I had always wanted to do. Through the next 12 weeks, I would be molded into a new
person by reaching a low and learning how to cope with tough situations. While the Commander was
talking, I thought about how much this moment meant to me and how happy I was about being here. I
stood tall in my crisp uniform and polished boots, my first attempt at doing laundry and polishing
boots was a success in my mind. After the Commander gave his final remarks he walked off stage
with a moment of peace following, a loud slam of a door interrupted that peace. The slam was trailed
by what seemed to be hundreds of drill instructors roaring in barking orders. I stood in line with 35
other cadets, as the drill instructors individually examined us as if through a microscope. It was my
turn; as I stood face to face with two drill instructors I was not worried. Then a single dog hair was
found on my uniform along with several wrinkles, I was quickly on my face doing pushups with drill
instructors around me yelling at the top of their lungs. This quickly washed away my arrogance, it

The Role Of The Four Noble Truth In Buddhism
No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. This
quote, along with many others, is what Siddhartha Gautama lived by until his dying day. Buddhism is
the belief that life is full of suffering caused by desire and that the way to end this suffering is through
enlightenment. I admire this religion because it creates an ethical moral pathway for oneself instead of
laying out a roadway of morals and rules just to please a god or gods.
Even though Buddhism has many forms, it seems to never stray too far from a basic universal system
of beliefs, the four noble truths. The second noble truth stuck out to me the most because it explained
how the origin of suffering is desire. Desire comes in many different

Essay On Sri Aurobindo
Political Life
Sri Aurobindo s life can be divided into two clear phases. The first relates to political activism and the
second to spiritual activism.
Aurobindo s political career lasted only four years, from 1906 to 1910. Though he had been active
behind the scene surveying, organizing and supporting the nationalist cause, ever since his return to
India, especially during his excursions to Bengal.
In 1905 an event occurred that changed the course of Indian history and the freedom movement. This
was the Partition of Bengal by Lord Curzon, known as Banga bhanga, which immediately created a
tremendous reaction in the whole of India and particularly in Bengal. The whole of Bengal galvanised
into activity.
Sri Aurobindo resigned his job in Baroda and moved to Calcutta. For five years, from 1905 to 1910,

Having returned to India to join the Baroda service, Sri Aurobindo immediately set about writing on
politics. A brilliant writer, his first series of articles was published in a journal called Indu Prakash, in
which he castigated the moderate leadership of the Congress. He said that their policy of prayer,
petition and protest would lead nowhere. What was needed was a revolutionary movement against the
British. A born revolutionary, Sri Aurobindo revolted against the British and the Congress leadership
This change was affected by the advent of the aggressive nationalist thought of Lokmanya Tilak who
declared that swaraj was his birthright and Bipin Chandra Pal who demanded complete autonomy
from Britain. However none went as far as Aurobindo in articulating the legitimacy and necessity of
complete independence. He based his claim for freedom for India on the inherent right to freedom, not
on any charge of misgovernment or

Detection of Biological Molecules
Detection of Biological Molecules
Introduction: Without carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen and phosphorus, life wouldn t exist.
These are the most abundant elements in living organisms.
These elements are held together by covalent bonds, ionic bonds, hydrogen bonds, and disulfide
bonds. Covalent bonds are especially strong, thus, are present in monomers, the building blocks of
life. These monomers combine to make polymers, which is a long chain of monomers strung together.
Biological molecules can be distinguished by their functional groups. For example, an amino group is
present in amino acids, and a carboxyl group can always be found in fatty acids.
The groups can be separated into two more categories, the polar, ... Show more content on

SUDAN III TEST
Introduction: Sudan III test detects the hydrocarbon groups that are remaining in the molecule. Due to
the fact that the hydrocarbon groups are nonpolar, and stick tightly together with their polar
surroundings, it is called a hydrophobic interaction and this is the basis for the Sudan III test. If the
end result is a visible orange, it tests positive.

Archaeop Lotteryx Research Paper
Theoretically, birds are said to have evolved from small carnivorous dinosaurs by fossils discovered in
China, South America and other countries. The fossils were looked with different perspectives than
initially, and by analyzing them with special methods. The first known bird to man was the
Archaeopteryx, which was discovered around the early 1860s. It had feathers exactly like current day
birds however, had teeth, a long bony tail and other factors that put these recognized characteristics
under the reptile category of a specific species; dinosaurs.
There is much evidence that supports the link between dinosaurs and birds. As stated before, the

Descriptive Essay On The Experience Of A City
Our destination that afternoon was a place called Daylesford, which looked, wHen we arrived, more
like a movie set than like an actual working town. The buildings on the main street were two stories
tall, and made of wood, like buildings in the Old West, but brightly painted. Here was the shop selling
handmade soaps shaped like petit fours. Here was the forgery, the jammery, your source for
moisturizer. If Dodge City had been founded and maintained by homosexuals, this is what it might
have looked like. The spas are fantastic, Pat said, and she parked the car in front of a puppet shop.
From there we walked down a slight hill, passing a flock of sulfur crested cockatoos, just milling
about, pulling worms from the front lawn of a bed and breakfast. This was the moment when
familiarity slipped away, and Australia seemed not just distant but impossibly foreign. Will you look at
that, I said. It was Pat who had made the lunch reservation. The restaurant was attached to a hotel, and
on arriving we were seated beside a picture window. The view was of a wooden deck and,
immediately beyond it, a small lake. On a sunny day, it was probably blinded, but the winter sky was
like brushed aluminum. The water beneath it had the same dull sheen, and its surface reflected
nothing. Even before the menus were handed out, you could see what sort of a place this was. Order

All audio is recorded is analogue and needs to be converted to digital. In order to do this a technique

analogue audio. The gray blocks are each sample of the audio. The more samples there are the higher
quality or more true to the original it will be.
Audio sampling will always create a drop in quality. The closer together the sampling is the more it
represents the original analogue sound. Also the more levels you have the less error there will be.
However even though a low sample rate will reduce quality, the higher the sample rate the bigger the
file size will be. This means companies can only reach a certain sample rate to put it on a CD before
the file size gets too big, an average CD only has 700MB of usable space. Therefore you need to be

Pierre Bourdieu
Bourdieu Pierre Bourdieu s theories of social power centered around the stratification of the class
structure. He explained that a person s habitus (mental filter) is shaped by the practices and behaviours
that surround them. He is clear to state that one s habitus is not created individually, but is acquired
through the internalization of the interactions around them. This habitus in turn shapes how a person
sees the world and how they present themselves in it (Appelrouth Edles, 2016, p. 448). Similar to
standpoint theory, Bourdieu believed that an individual s viewpoint is determined by their position

guaranteed product of the combined effects of cultural transmission by the family ad cultural
transmission by the school (the efficiency of which depends on the amount of cultural capital directly
inherited from the family). (Bourdieu, 1996, p. 23). In addition, Bourdieu pointed out that although
schools claim to be meritocratic institutions that judge based on individual aptitudes, they are actually
duplicating social stratification by basing rewards on cultural capital and hereditary privileges. In this

Essay about Not Really The Working Poor in Nickel and Dimed
Barbara Ehrenreich would make a bad representative of the working poor because she lacks three
major things that a woman of that class would actually possess. Ehrenreich doesn t meet the true
qualifications of a working class woman: she lacks the background, she lacks respect of the money she
earns, and she lacks certain personal or social qualities that ordinarily are possessed by the working
poor.
Ehrenreich is part of the upper middle class; she is privileged to have a job in which she makes money

The wear and tear of simply having to deal with relationships and to live with another person, not
always just a spouse or family member, but sometimes a friend or simply a coworker, is something
Ehrenreich does not have to endure.
The second trait that I find Ehrenreich lacks is a certain respect of money that one of the working class

Do Athletes get paid too much? Yes, Athletes get paid too much money. Accordingly to the
article, from LeBron James making 71 million dollars and the President does not make as much money
as LeBron James. Nurses, and other people who save lives do not make as much money as LeBron
James. No Doubt,LeBron James salary is way more than most people who work for regular jobs get
regular paid amounts of money while athletes get big paid amounts of money. We get entertained by
them. But mostly, they shouldn t get paid as much money. At this point, athletes are paid way more
than people who save lives. Should athletes deserve getting paid this much? Some athletes go on big
vacations and are still getting paid even when they don t play in their games.

The Scientific Method Essay The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non arbitrary representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then, through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This ... He then called the principles behind his experiment Metodo Scientifico or The Scientific Method. The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found earlier, though, back in the studies of Galileo, early in the 17th century. He first observed that heavy objects gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of massive objects was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific Method, he tested his hypothesis and found it to be false, since objects falling unequal distances do not fall in the same amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he made a new one, which proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the time the object has spent falling. This was tested by rolling balls down an inclined plane and calculating the speed and time values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the discovery of the gravitational constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method. The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been considered a valid way of conducting experiments since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Boer War The Boer War was a conflict that lasted from 1899 to 1902 in southern Africa between Great Britain and their allies, Transvaal (South African Republic) and Orange Free State, in what is now South Africa. Throughout the 19th century, after Great Britain conquered the Cape of Good Hope in 1814 and expanded its territory in Southern Africa, there was tension between the British settlers and the Dutch descended population which were called Afrikaners or Boers. This resulted in the Afrikaner migration called the Great Trek, which was from 1835 to 1843, and the establishment of the Afrikaner republics. The South African Republic and the Orange Free Stated made an alliance. They then declared war on the British on October 12, 1899 because they were uncooperative with Kurger s demands. The Afrikaner forces were successful in invading Natal and Cape Colony. In December the British commander in chief Sir Redvers H. Buller sent fresh troops to relieve the British forces in three war zones. These zones were Colenso, Natal, the hills of Magersfontein on the Orange Free State and Cape Colony borders, and the mountain range of Stormberge in the Cape Colony. Within a week, which is referred to as the Black Week by the British, each of the new units had been defeated by Afrikaner forces. On January 10, 1900, the British general Frederick S. Roberts was sent to replace Buller as commander in chief. However, Buller remained to fight throughout the war. Early in February, Roberts ordered the British commander John D. P. French north to relieve the city of Kimberley. Roberts marched northeastward from Cape Colony into the Orange Free State. Attacked by the Afrikaner general Piet Cronje on February 27, Roberts fought back successfully and forced the surrender of Cronje and his troops. Prisoner Number 600001 Summary In Prisoner Number 600001 , Tessa Morris Suzuki argues that Matsushita Kazutoshi, a Japanese soldier who fought in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean wars, shows the harsh truth of the treatment of prisoners of war by the forces of the United Nations. After abandoning his country, Kazutoshi became a prisoner of war to both China and Korea. Most people don t think about all of the things that prisoners of war had to go through and how the things that they had to do would scar them for life. They were forced to fight in wars that they had nothing to do with and fulfill any other needs that they had. • 9. Essay on Hero and Beatrice Vs. Women During the... In William Shakespeare s play Much Ado about Nothing there are sharp contrasts between Hero and Beatrice in comparison to women during the Shakespearean period. Hero is the typical example of a woman during the Shakespearean period. Hero is depicted in the play as a morally upright woman of good keep, and she seem to be a very loving and warm person in comparison to her cousin Beatrice. However she is made out to be a whore by Claudio at her own expense on her wedding day. Beatrice is the heroine of the play; she possesses a quick wit and a quick tongue. Beatrice does have the same warm and loving personality as her cousin however she constantly starts merry war or make fun of other individuals. Beatrice is not a typical woman of the ... I cannot be a man with wishing; therefore I will die a woman with grieving (IV.i.312 318). At a time in the play Much ado about Nothing Claudio refers to Hero as a jewel. With this description of Hero as a jewel it can be thought that Shakespeare is using Claudio to convey to the audience the beauty of Hero. Shakespeare could also be explaining the way in which men own women and the way that women are property in the eyes of Shakespearean men. Beatrice clearly does not wish to be owned or considered property and worth of a woman. As it pertains to worth in regards to Hero, marrying Claudio can advance her father s Leonato business endeavors. Marrying Claudio could be seen as marrying a financial, stable, secure future for Leonato and for Hero. The climax of the play is when the wedding ceremony is aborted and Hero is shamed and she is accused of disloyalty to Claudio. During the Shakespearean period women that were accused of unfaithfulness before marriage would lose social standing, a standing that could never be improved. This damaged social standing could ruin an entire family, therefore when Leonato buys into the fact that Hero was disloyal to Claudio he attempts to dismiss her totally ... In order to understand why these movements came about we must look at their precursors and their historical backgrounds and how they affected and were affected by the social circumstances of that time. • 11. Critical Analysis Of Richard III Writer s statement William Shakespeare s, Richard III explores the idea of power. It s shown how power corrupts and controls characters throughout the play. There are many comparisons that could be drawn between Richard III as Machiavellian leader as alluded to in the transformative piece. The main reason for this is the extremes that Richard would go to, to assert himself in power. The transformative piece aimed to explore how this influenced Richard s reception when elected into power. One of the main motivations behind the characterisations of Richard in this transformative piece, is drawn from when Richard announces in the original play, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover, To entertain these fair well spoken days, I am determined to prove a villain, And hate the idle pleasures of these days. (1.1.??) From this quote the character of Richard had to be created to be cruel with no regard for the things that make us human, this was done through how widely known his behaviour is in the article. The Machiavellian idea is also drawn from Richard as he cannot prove a lover , which leads him to draw on fear as a method of control. This speech is sinister yet incredibly determined, it acted as the driving hand behind many of Richard s brutal actions, because whilst his actions are morally wrong, he is working towards a goal. This idea laid the grounds for the investigation Richards s determination. The transformative is written in The Economists, which is well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. When I Saw Me Walking out of the Museum of Fine Arts on a spring night in 2013, I began to think about where my home really was. I had just left the Boston Palestine Film Festival, where the screening of When I Saw You by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir had really stood out to me. The movie was from the perspective of a young Palestinian refugee named Tarek living in a camp in Jordan. Tarek goes on a journey to return to his home in Palestine. After watching the film, I had an unshakeable feeling that my real home was in Palestine and felt a strong urge to return to the land of my ancestors. I developed a deeper connection to my Palestinian heritage after the film festival. These feelings were confusing to me at first. Before I left, he gifted me with a keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian headscarf and symbol of Palestinian solidarity. The puritans were activist that wanted to get rid of the catholic system within the church. However, people in England sought out to remove these groups of people from the area because they saw them as a threat to their religion. This is how the puritans ended up in Massachusetts Bay Colony. The puritans moved to this colony in hopes of recreating and ideal community, a utopian society that others could look up to. The puritans ideal community consisted of peace and partnership; they wanted to remove all evil and improve the quality of life. The puritans then became strict to ensure that every person was equivalent in the eyes of God. The Puritans strict beliefs influenced politics during this time period. In the early stages of the puritans journey to purification, they opened a new church and slowly they were evolving into their own beliefs. The puritans wanted to break away from the norms, and expectations of Christian society. I believed that the puritans had the idea that by creating a new church, they could essentially purify their life, along with others, and the way the church ruled. At the end of this summary I hope to have showed and understand the difference when it comes to irrational and predictable theories that can disrupt behavior, and decision making. However, the group who had the drink whose bottle specifically said that it helps people do better in puzzles, they actually did better than the group with the blank bottle. To me that showed me just how pictures and the things we see really do impact our decision making. If we see a name brand energy drink compared to a knock off brand energy drink does the name brand energy work better? I have been in those situations where I have felt a Red Bull did better than a monster energy drink, just because the Red Bull is more expensive. The main uses of cost allocation are to facilitate decision making regarding costs, justify prices charged for products and services, cost control, and for optimal utilization of resources. There are several methods used for cost allocation, depending on the type of product or service offer by the company. The Step method of cost allocation, allocates costs between service departments in steps, starting with the service department that provides the most service to the other service departments. After this allocation takes place, the next step in the process allocates costs to the department that provides the next most service. This keeps stepping down until all costs have been allocated between service departments (Accounting For Management, 2012). The Reciprocal method of allocating costs takes into account all activity between both interdepartmental service departments and operational departments. For instance, the custodial department services both the mail room and the manufacturing department. The cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the mailroom would be allocated directly to the mailing department, and cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the manufacturing department would be allocated directly to the manufacturing department. Unlike the step method that only allocates forward from the service departments providing the most service to those providing least, the reciprocal method can work backward. At the same time costs of the custodial department are being allocated to the mail room (because of the mail room being cleaned), the mail room will allocate costs to the custodial department for the mail that needs to be picked up and delivered there. • 20. The Real World During Quantum-Mechanical Experiments We ve already discussed some of the experimental phenomena that inspire competing interpretations or theories of what s going on in the real world during quantum mechanical experiments. (In brief: Observing microscopic particles seems to either: cause them to randomly take one result or the other; create a branching world for every possible outcome; or require hidden variables and allow for faster than light, nonlocal communication. Particles seem not to take one path, not the other, not both, and not neither, and even act as if they know when we re observing them.) In this final installment of a three article series, we ll look in very broad strokes at some of the philosophical implications of these views of quantum mechanics. I. Logic Standard logic is two valued. That just means that each sentence in the logic is true or false, not both, and not neither. My cat s breath smells like cat food is either true or false; it can t both smell that way and not smell that way at the same time to the same person, and surely it either does or it doesn t. But as we ve seen, some interpretations of quantum mechanics might suggest adding in a new value.1 Perhaps Copenhagen style interpretations indicate that we should have a value of neither a truth value gap and Copenhagen and many worlds interpretations indicate that we should have a value of both: a truth value glut. 2 As it happens, there are independent philosophical reasons to explore three or four valued logics (and ... Who hasn t indulged in a pint of Ben and Jerry s for emotional reasons? What you may not know is that emotional eating is not purely psychological. It s actually deeply rooted in a biological response controlled by a very important chemical messenger manufactured in the brain and gut: serotonin. Some scientists have coined it the feel good chemical, but research has proven that this neurotransmitter is responsible for so much more than a natural high. Not only does your mood affect what you eat, but also what you eat directly impacts your mood. And so the cycle (positive or negative) begins. Serotonin is found in many foods: tomatoes, plantains, walnuts, pineapples, plums, kiwis, bananas, just to name a few. Eating foods high in serotonin improves communication between neurons in the gut, however the impact is limited. Serotonin does not pass from the gut and into the blood (and then to the brain) unless we also eat foods containing the building blocks necessary to allow the serotonin to pass through something referred to as the blood brain barrier. The blood brain barrier is a highly selective permeability barrier that separates the circulating blood from the brain extracellular fluid in the central nervous system. I was standing there, because being a police officer was something I had always wanted to do. Through the next 12 weeks, I would be molded into a new person by reaching a low and learning how to cope with tough situations. While the Commander was talking, I thought about how much this moment meant to me and how happy I was about being here. I stood tall in my crisp uniform and polished boots, my first attempt at doing laundry and polishing boots was a success in my mind. After the Commander gave his final remarks he walked off stage with a moment of peace following, a loud slam of a door interrupted that peace. The slam was trailed by what seemed to be hundreds of drill instructors roaring in barking orders. I stood in line with 35 other cadets, as the drill instructors individually examined us as if through a microscope. It was my turn; as I stood face to face with two drill instructors I was not worried. I admire this religion because it creates an ethical moral pathway for oneself instead of laying out a roadway of morals and rules just to please a god or gods. Audio sampling will always create a drop in quality. The closer together the sampling is the more it represents the original analogue sound. • 35. Pierre Bourdieu Bourdieu Pierre Bourdieu s theories of social power centered around the stratification of the class structure. He explained that a person s habitus (mental filter) is shaped by the practices and behaviours that surround them. He is clear to state that one s habitus is not created individually, but is acquired through the internalization of the interactions around them. This habitus in turn shapes how a person sees the world and how they present themselves in it (Appelrouth Edles, 2016, p. 448). Similar to standpoint theory, Bourdieu believed that an individual s viewpoint is determined by their position within a social space or field. In Practical Reason: On the Theory of Action , Bourdieu states that, Social space is constructed in such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the family is the primary field in which a child gains cultural capital, Bourdieu claimed that this becomes institutionalized in the education system. When evaluating educational capital, he explains that it is not simply a result of schooling, but states that academic capital is in fact the guaranteed product of the combined effects of cultural transmission by the family ad cultural transmission by the school (the efficiency of which depends on the amount of cultural capital directly inherited from the family). (Bourdieu, 1996, p. 23). In addition, Bourdieu pointed out that although schools claim to be meritocratic institutions that judge based on individual aptitudes, they are actually duplicating social stratification by basing rewards on cultural capital and hereditary privileges. In this way, the education system is unfair because it duplicates existing social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay about Not Really The Working Poor in Nickel and Dimed Barbara Ehrenreich would make a bad representative of the working poor because she lacks three major things that a woman of that class would actually possess. Ehrenreich doesn t meet the true qualifications of a working class woman: she lacks the background, she lacks respect of the money she earns, and she lacks certain personal or social qualities that ordinarily are possessed by the working poor. Ehrenreich is part of the upper middle class; she is privileged to have a job in which she makes money by sitting at her desk and writing (E 2). She has never considered herself one of the working poor before this experiment, even though she explains, the low wage way of life had never been many degrees of separation away (E ... She has enough money to stay in her own place while almost every other person she speaks of is living with another person. That other person isn t just another body, it s another contributing wage. [My coworkers] live with spouses or grown children or they have other jobs in addition to this one (E 178). The wear and tear of simply having to deal with relationships and to live with another person, not always just a spouse or family member, but sometimes a friend or simply a coworker, is something Ehrenreich does not have to endure. The second trait that I find Ehrenreich lacks is a certain respect of money that one of the working class would possess. One of the first examples I saw of this was when she bought her uniform pants in Florida for Jerry s. Then there is the $30 I had to spend on the regulation tan slacks worn by Jerry s servers a setback it could take weeks to absorb (E 39). This foolish decision on buying pants at $30 is not something a working poor woman would do. Alyssa at Wal Mart proves this: That afternoon, Alyssa... had come by ladies to inquire about a polo shirt that had been clearanced at $7. Was there any chance it might fall still further? (E 159). I also see that she is rather careless with her money when she explains her situation in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After becoming concerned with the corruption of other officers, two New York City Officers, Frank Serpico and David Durk supplied information to a New York City reporter, David Burnham (Knapp Commission, n.d.). Burnham wrote a series of articles that appeared in the New York Times. These reports prompted the establishment of the Knapp Commission. Accounts of corruption were mainly prostitution, gambling, and narcotics ( Knapp Commission, n.d.). It was determined that there two types of corruption, the grass eaters, and man eaters( Dempsey Forst, 2016). The grass eaters were officers that are that do not search for opportunities, however, do not turn down activities or events that come their way. Officers taking advantage of free meals, movie tickets, coffee, donuts, or free hotel rooms, do not see this as corruption. It is seen as appreciation for a job well done. A person could argue that culture is another difference, which is true, but if culture was an actual factor in imperialism, each European country would imperialize each other since Britain, France, Russia, Belgium, etc all have unique cultures. The only difference between Europe as a whole and these nations is the color of their skin which in the minds of the white makes them incompetent and unable to take care of themselves. In the poem, Stafford depicts books as a symbol of ignorance and believes they should be burnt as he writes a verse of imagery about them turning to ashes. However he mostly judges people for not writing anymore and finds it disturbing to see whole libraries that no one got around to writing. The poem interests the reader mostly because of the time during which it was written: 1987. This was during the Cold War, a time of tension between the USA and Russia, who begin to build nuclear weapons to destroy one another. During this time, people show more interest in knowing what is going on in the news, rather than spending their time writing books, meaning that not as many books were being written. Also, a part of the books that were made were from the government who used propaganda. This demonstrates how the time period has a big impact on the opinion of writers. In this case, William Stafford wants to burn propaganda books which he interprets as ignorant because they do not always show the truth and wants to encourage people to write smart texts that contribute to ...
