A Report On California Drought

California Drought Here in the desert we all know it s a very dry place. You may also know that
California is in a drought as well and the dryness of our area has resulted in many continuous
disadvantages. People are conserving water as much as they can but maybe some of you out
there are not doing your part in saving our water and I am here to tell you it is so simple! But first,
let me provide some facts on the drought in California that should help you realize the dire
situation we are in. According to saveourwater.com, 2013 was marked as the driest year on record
in many parts of California including Sacramento and Los Angeles. Water storage in the big
reservoirs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the drought can really affect our economy as well as our social life. The Sierra
Nevada snowpack, which is counted on to provide 30 percent of the state s water supply as it
melts through early summer, is at its second lowest level on record. According to Hippo Reads, it
will take about 11 trillion gallons of water (42 cubic kilometers) around 1.5 times the maximum
volume of the largest U.S. reservoir to recover from California s continuing drought, according to a
new analysis of NASA satellite data.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought?
How can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although
these issues are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward
developing more resilient water supplies. One way is groundwater legislation: our Governor, Jerry
Brown, signed legislation mandating sustainable groundwater management, though the law leaves
local entities to define that idea further. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and
our investments, that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov). Another way our
government is helping is the spending on water projects.
Although the government and other corporations

To What Extent Was The Civil War A Turning Point
The Turning Point
SSG Horn, SGT Adams, SGT Ortega
ALC 13R Class 502 17
The Turning Point
The American Civil War was the bloodiest war that America had ever fought. From 1861 to 1865
the Union (northern states) was fighting against the Confederates (southern states that succeeded
from the Union). The war resulted in the death of 620,000 plus Americans and left millions injured.
During the Civil War there were many important battles that took place over the years. Battle of
Fort Sumter, The First Battle of Bull Rum, The Seven Days Battle, The Battle of Antietam, The
battle of Vicksburg, and many more. However, the turning point of the war was the Battle of
Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg is believed to be one of the most important engagements of
the American Civil War. Lasting only 3 days it was one of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War....

Lee was the Confederate Army leader in Northern Virginia. General Lee had just come out of a
huge victory for the Confederates over the army of the Potomac in Chancellorsville on the
Union side. General Lee decided to invade the north for a second time. In May 1863, General
Lee planned to divert northern troops from Vicksburg where the Confederates were under siege
and he hoped to gain the recognition from Britain and France. President Lincoln was on the other
end. He had lost all confidence in his army. He thought that after the defeat at Chancellorsville
that they were going to lose the war. President Lincoln then named Major George Gordon Meade to
succeed Hooker. Meade knew where General Lee s army of 75,000 troops was heading and Meade

Destruction Of Anti-Intellectualism In The United States
Intellectuals Destruction
Anti Intellectualism is defined as a person opposed to or hostile toward intellectuals and the modern
academic, artistic, social, religious, and other theories associated with them. Anti intellectualism
defines a person who believes that intellect and reason are less important than actions and emotions
in solving practical problems and understanding reality. Anti Intellectualism is an epidemic worth
acknowledging; its prevalence in America is one of the nations most major hindrances to solving
the problems it faces collectively. Anti intellectualsentiment has its basis mostly in
misunderstanding, but a persistent stream of misinformation spewed by the impassioned yet
hollow rhetoric of shallow politicians and self proclaimed orators has only served to maintain
ignorance. Here I hope to explain the history and causes of anti intellectual belief as it has
manifested and grown in the United States of America and to demonstrate the detrimental effect it
has had and will have on our nation, continuing on to encourage whoever might view this essay to
reverse this trend by embracing objective problem solving and developing an interest in critical
thinking and the sciences.
America, although still young, has grown further into industrialization and exceeded in momentous
discoveries in science and mathematics; yet still harbors ill will against intellectuals and
knowledge. The population of America was still largely rural in the 19th century, agricultural

Lorely Rodriguez Me Essay
Me. It s a cryptic name for an album, a word that can mean so much and so little, and for Lorely
Rodriguez s Empress Of project, it s a fitting title. Me is interesting lyrically, and even more so
musically it s not exactly an exploration of the self as much as it is an inhabitation. That is,
Rodriguez uses her unique identity and experiences to craft balanced, adaptable songs that can be
perceived as intellectual or physical art, as food for thought or as primal messages. Me is such a
well rounded and confident record, yet there is a sense of ricketiness to it, as if it has no right to
reach this high into the stratosphere; there s very little wrong with it, though. With Me, Rodriguez
has crafted a formidable debut album: it s a self assured work that manages to be both experimental
and accessible, an album that never fails to please, whether you re embroiled in thought or swept
onto the dancefloor.
Balance is a theme throughout the record; experimental and established pop methods run hand in
hand, as do the eclectically airy instrumentals with Rodriguez s simply delivered vocals. Perhaps the
most important duality here is one of beauty and ferocity; it s this harmony that ... Show more

Lowell Folk Festival Research Paper
30th anniversaries are special times. This year was a celebration of 30 years of the Lowell Folk
Festival, an event born from a visit from the National Folk Festival in 1987 and has been a
celebration of multicultural America ever since. From its founding, the city of Lowell exemplifies
the diversity of the nation and unity America has come to symbolize to the world. The Lowell Folk

felt as the region, which has been under drought like conditions fell. By noon, the rains had ceased
and the crowds returned. To help, Lowell NHP staff engaged in a successful social media
campaign with the Lowell Folk Festival organizers and together the word was out that the festival

As Sunday evening descended and the stages closed up for the completion of another stellar folk

Marshall University
Marshall University is very special to its community because of its founded history, cataclysmic
plane crash, and its ability to come together as a town when tragedy strikes. Marshall University
was originally founded in 1837 for the children of local farmers. The local citizens of what is now
Huntington, West Virginia petitioned the General Assembly of Virginia to establish an advanced
educational program named after Chief Justice John Marshall. By 1850, financial support and the
instruction given had deteriorated. Trustees then decided it was time to give it up and offered it to
the Western Virginia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The church accepted and was

They were enrolled in three programs: the primary, academic, and the normal. The primary school
served children ages six to fourteen; the academic school equipped students for business and for
further education. The normal school trained teachers for their duties in the educational system.
Furthermore, the first class of normal school students graduated in June 1870.
From 1880 into the 1900 s, Marshall College went through many changes. Academia and the Music
department expanded, enrollment finally surpassed two hundred, and the business department was
established. In 1907, Lawrence J. Corby, the president, developed intercollegiate athletics. The
school also added an addition for alumni and College Hall, a dormitory for women. Additionally, in
1913, the legislation granted $158,000, $45,000 of that went to a new science building and a
gymnasium.
The years between 1915 and 1946 struck a steady growth in expansions, enrollment, and
improvement of a curriculum. Marshall s curriculum was then eligible to be a four year college in
1920, and awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1921. The school also had more teachers earing
terminal degrees, developed a student government, and the athletics department earned the
nickname the Thundering Herd. In spite of the Great Depression, a music building, student union,
two dormitories were built, and the Albert Gallatin Jenkins Laboratory School was established for

SLAVERY
The burning issue that led to the disruption of the union, however, was the debate over the future of
slavery. That dispute led to secession, and secession brought about a war in which the Northern and
Western states and territories fought to preserve the Union, and the South fought to establish
Southern independence as a new confederation of states under its own constitution. In the late 18th
century, the abolitionist movement began in the north and the country began to divide over the
issue between north and south. In 1820, the Missouri Compromise banned slavery in all new
western territories, which southern states saw as a threat to the institution of slavery itself. With the
election in 1860 of Abraham Lincoln, who ran on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were those in the antislavery movement that proposed legislation that would actually
purchase the freedom of slaves, as had happened in Europe. This sort of solution would have ended
slavery, but done it without the violence and death that the Civil War brought.
In contrast, the abolitionist movement sought to end slavery by any means necessary. So, famous
abolitionist John Brown resorted to theft, and to attacks on federal officers, in his effort to end
slavery. The radical abolitionists had no interested in ending slavery in a peaceful or legal way.
They wanted to end slavery at the point of the bayonet.
SECESIONISM
Before the Civil War, the country was dividing between north and south. Issues included States
Rights but centered mostly on the issue of slavery, which was prominent in the south but
increasingly banned by northern states.
With the election in 1860 of Abraham Lincoln, who ran on a message of anti slavery, the Southern
states felt it was only a matter of time before the institution was outlawed completely. South
Carolina became the first state to officially secede from the United States on December 20, 1860.
Four months later, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana seceded as well.
Later Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee joined them, and soon afterward, the
people of these states elected Jefferson Davis as president of the newly formed

Second is the ability to find the place where you can encounter or catch this ideal mate. Although
not specific to certain people the author states, be open to spontaneity (Browne, 2006, p.71).
Meaning that the general people are not regularly able to recognize or allow the occurrence of
impulse with a date or in the matter of life. To be open to new and adventurous things that might
be encountered with this voyage of dating is what the author implied. Like parties, vacations and
many other types of celebrations or trips that can bring new escapades that might be to your
liking. In this sort of move towards openness you set forth the ability to find a potential date. The
efforts of asking for phone numbers, and for getting to know the person are a little bit tricky, but
are worth being able to find if there are any type of connections as humans. As we connect we
are able to retrieve information to contact one another for any potential dates or hangouts. The
key is to first introduce your self and then ask for the source of communication so that you can
plan an encounter, in order to get to know one another. Once passing the opportunity to arrange a
rendezvous you are able to start plotting the events for the date. All of these procedures are
discussed in part three of the book. Dr. Joy also informs of the approach for asking someone out

Odysseus Or Gilgamesh
Odysseus or Gilgamesh Will the real Epic Hero please stand up?
Gilgamesh went to the entrance into the mountain and entered the darkness alone, without a
companion. By the time he reached the end of the first league the darkness was total, nothing
behind or before. He made his way, companionless, to the end (Book 9 p. 51, The Epic of
Gilgamesh). In The Epic of Gilgamesh, an epic poem translated by N.K. Sanders, Gilgamesh is a
character who is by all accounts an epic hero. As a person of nobility, he becomes tyrannical and
overpowering in his strength, until the gods present him with a challenge an equal counterpart to
Gilgamesh s fortitude. Gilgamesh battles with this new encountered foe, named Enkidu, yet
because of their equivalent vitality, they end up cancelling each other out, and through a twist of
events, Gilgamesh befriends Enkidu. This friendship is everlasting, through thick and thin. After
Enkidu s death and traveling in search for an answer to life s cruelty and abandonment, Gilgamesh
finds a new perspective on life and returns home to his rightful place on the throne. The Epic of
Gilgamesh entails the hardships and retribution that the main character, Gilgamesh, в…” god and
в…“ human and King of Uruk, endures. Comparatively, Gilgamesh is more of an epic hero than
Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer, whose story also follows the structure of the Epic Hero
Cycle. This is because Gilgamesh embarks on multiple epic journeys, and on the way, grows and

If defendant s acts or omissions are found to be substantial contributing factors in the injury and
without these contributing factors the injury would not have happened, then cause in fact will be

Smith and Johnson (2010) have observed, Employers typically defend nonsubscriber claims on the
proximate cause of negligence... Foreseeability is a necessary element of the plaintiff s case that is
often not present in many employee injury cases (p. 102). Consequently, defendants will likely

the plaintiff or defendants will prevail. This brings us to the final element should causation be

Canada Goose Case Analysis Essay
Current situation
Canada Goose has experienced steady organic growth as a niche brand, selling their product
through independently owned stores. By June 2008 it was selling product in 28 different
countries across North America and Europe plus two authorized online retailers. Now it has a
significant opportunity to further cement itself as a market leader by placing its product with a
national chain. Initially, Canada Goose considered offers from two national chain retailers. One
offer came from a Canadian chain called Asmuns Place. Another offer came from Levene s
Menswear. Table 1 provides a high level overview and compares these two offers.
Table 1. Brief offer comparisons.

Firstly, the Canada Goose brand faces a threat from the increased number of fake products by
counterfeiters. Secondly, there is a rising concern from independent stores that national chain stores
would discount Canada Goose products causing their sales to drop. And thirdly, Lisa Freedman
from Asmuns Place made a last minute offer for exclusive distribution of Canada Goose female and
menswear through their store chain. This offer restricts Canada Goose s flexibility in terms of
choosing a distribution partner, but simplifies the distribution process.
Recommendations
Pursue both initial opportunities with the women s closing product line for Asmuns Place and
with the men s product line for Levene s Menswear. This will result in an increase in the market
share in Canada by 10%. It will provide the ability to bring newer products to market, and not
restrict the distribution of products to a single national chain store. Canada Goose should define the
conditions under which Asmuns Place or any other retail chain will feature its products in store
advertisements. It also needs to assure its original distribution partners that they will be able to
maintain their existing brand prestige and pricing throughout all their stores in Canada.
Canada Goose should expand their distribution of its product to Eastern Europe starting with Russia
since it is a country with severe winter conditions. This will assure Canada Goose growth without
the risk of saturating the

Interestingly enough, a lot of the question that were asked during the Brunelleschi s time are still
being asked today when it comes to construction.
Finding a solution to build an artistic roof that would fully cover the interior, and keep the outdoor
elements from entering, instead of having a massive whole in their cathedrals was the motivation
that led to Brunelleschi s invention of the dome that is used on a few cathedrals in Florence.
The questions that were asked were how are they going to build a dome that was almost 150 feet
across? How are they going to build this dome and successfully place them from 180 feet from the
ground? Would the weight

How Can Ms. G Make A Big Change
How Can Ms. G Make a Big Change
Freedom Writers is a film about a young, idealistic teacher Erin Gruwell and her class of racially
mixed students at Wilson High School in long Beach, California. It is based on a true story. The
movie shows us, how can a new inspirational teacher change the inner city and at risk students,
who all live pretty tough lives, from self desert to feel free in mind? It s believed that her optimism
and perseverance, using proper strategies to grasp the mental change and devoting all her energy to
the children, which many other teachers can learn from, make her success.
Her optimism and perseverance change the relationship with students from discriminate to mutual
respect.
As a new teacher, Erin Gruwell learned the students situation from the office and said
optimistically: I may not a good teacher, but I ll be a good student. But the first day Erin Gruwell
enters classroom with coltish enthusiasm, the students turn blind eyes to her. Part of the reason is
the racism. Ms. G is white which represents privilege that treat badly to them. Meanwhile, education
means nothing to them. They re force to study. After then she witness the terrible behavior students
did, and soon realizes that her diverse group of students is embroiled in the racial gang war culture

involved in the crisis namely, Standard amp; Poor s (S amp;P), Moody s, and Fitch Group. To
give an example of a rating would be like the big internet search company Google would be given
a rating like AA+ i.e. a high grade. Many of these CDOs however were given good ratings such
as AAA+ the highest rating possible given by any rating agency. These CDOs did not deserve
the rating as the CDOs were made of mortgages of lenders who were unable to pay their
mortgage. The reason for such a high rating was simple. In the past, rating agencies were paid by
the buyer to rate the assets they were going to invest in. In 1970s however, the systems changed
and now it was the seller that was paying the agency for the ratings, on a per rating basis. This
gave incentives for rating agencies to rate more and be more generous in their rating. A conflict
of interest rose and rating agencies were now earning large amount of profit for these CDOs.
They were more then happy to rate them. Moody s earned nearly US$1 billion a year from rating

The Theory Of Ethical Leadership
Explanation of Ethical Leadership
The research of Thomas W. H. Ng and Daniel C. Feldman provides quantitative data, which
validates the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership
related studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng
Feldman, 2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while
promoting moral member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior
(Ng Feldman, 2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values
significantly during their transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also
suggests there is a correlation between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior
to exercising referent and reward power behavior.
Connection to Social Learning Theory
The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In
terms of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority
stake exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context
of popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng
Feldman, 2015). Regardless, the majority of those leaders who demonstrated EL generally
exhibited a psychological motivation to be just. This need may have a basis in social learning
theory and even social exchange

Gender Roles In Northanger Abbey And Frances Burney
Everywhere we look, we see differences in race, gender, and status. Some people are held to a
higher standard and are given more privilege than others. This inequality is seen today and was seen
throughout the 18th century. Not many women have the courage to speak out about what happens,
but two brave female authors have done so. Jane Austen wrote Northanger Abbey and Frances
Burney wrote Evelina, and both novels bring to light the injustices women face. Both female
authors used the negative aspect of genderroles that come along with growing up as female to show
that an individual can surpass limitations and stereotypes through personal strength.
Northanger Abbey is a typical romance novel that has the ending that all readers anticipate the girl
falls in love with the boy and they live happily ever after. However, Catherine grows as an
individual and surpasses the stereotypical characteristics of a female during the time period. The
novel brings to light the gender roles that were instilled during the 18th century by using male
characters that strongly enforce what is believe during that time period.
Henry Tilney says, In marriage, the man is supposed to provide for the support of the woman; the
woman to make the home agreeable to the man; he is to purvey and she is to smile. But in dancing,
their duties are exactly changed; the agreeableness, the compliance, are expected from him, while
she furnishes the fan and the lavender water. (Austen 73). Henry jokingly

Database Management System ( Dbms )
2. What is a DBMS? Briefly describe the components of a DBMS.
Database Management System(DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data (database) and set of
programs to access and modify those data.
DBMS has several components. Each component has some specific task to perform. The Major
components DBMS are as follows,
Hardware
Without hardware it is not possible to implement DBMS. The main hardware is the computer used
for storing and accessing the data in database. Other hardware components used in DBMS are
Storage devices, I/O devices, and electromechanical devices which makes interface between user
and the database.
Software
This is main component of the DBMS. Software is the set of programs to access and control the

Granting of authorization for data access iv. Routine maintenance
End Users
The real users who the application programs to interact with the database to perform different
operations stored in the database. Some of the operations are insertion, deletion, updating data in
the database, etc.
Query processor
It converts the user queries into series of low level instructions. The query processor has the
following components,
i. DDL interpreter:
It interprets DDL statements and records definitions in the data dictionary. ii. DML compiler:
It translates DML statements in the query language into an evaluation plan consisting of low level
instructions. iii. Query evaluation engine:
It executes low level instructions (query evaluation plan).
Data
Data is the most important component of the DBMS. The main purpose of DBMS is to process
the data in efficient and convenient way for the users. In DBMS, databases are defined,
constructed, modified , inserted and accessed from the database. There are two types of data in the
DBMS. They are
i. Meta data:
It is the data about data or description about data stored in the database. Data definition
language(DDL) is used to manipulate this type of data. ii. Actual data:
This is data actually stored in the database by the users. Data manipulation language(DML) is used
to manipulate this type of data.

The Carnal Prayer Mat by Yu Li
Vesperus masculine beauty is a central theme in Li Yu s moral comedy, The Carnal Prayer Mat.
What s more, his life trajectory parallels non Mahayana Indic accounts of Siddhartha s path to
enlightenment, particularly on the emphasis placed on descriptions of both men s physical
perfection and their subsequent sexual appetite and prowess. Both Vesperus and Siddhartha s
masculine beauty propels them forward on their life paths, positioning them in the simultaneously
instructive and destructive feminine sphere of the inner quarter. The wealth of sexual experiences
gives both men the necessary insight for their critical realization of the superficiality and emptiness
of a life guided by carnaldesires and sexual pursuits of women. As a... Show more content on

What s more, these gifts of beauty and intelligence are described as Heavenly endowed. When
first meeting Vesperus, Lone Peak muses, What a fine intelligence the man has! But the Creator
is at fault for giving him this physical form. Why match a heart that was meant for the study of
Buddha with a face that will lead to damnable deeds? (Yu 21). This sentiment of beauty as a
cosmic gift from higher beings is echoed in Vesperus narcissistic self reflection when deciding
whether to take a life path of asceticism, filial piety, or sexual debauchery: Since Heaven has
given birth to someone like me, it must also have given birth to a girl fit to be my mate....That is
why at twenty I am still unmarried I want to do full justice to my genius and my looks (Yu 25).
Vesperus wish to do justice to his intellectual brilliance and looks speaks to the degree to which
masculine beauty is an important catalyst of sexual desire and subsequent acts of seduction and
moral transgression. Lone Peak describes Buddha, the Lord of Heaven, as a doting and overly
indulgent parent who has blundered in giving a favored child, Vesperus, too many blessings:
By the time the boy grows up, he is convinced that his body and nature were given to him by
Heaven and Earth and nurtured by his father and mother so that no harm will ever befall him, and
he does any wicked thing that enters his head. Only

Bullies Should Be Illegal

As far as advice goes, you should talk to Harry and get him adult assistance if needed. Anybody
who gets raped needs some mental/physical healing. Another thing you could do would be to talk
to Harry and tell him that you realize you should have done something, but was too scared. This
secret of knowing that Harry was raped should not be kept a secret. These bullies need to get

company the day of the attack. Because John was the suspect, the police went to his house to
talk to him and see if he was guilty of these crimes. John was coerced by the sheriff to step
outside and talk to them, but right as he walked outside he was shot. Somebody in the woods
fired a high caliber round through John s chest instantly killing him. Stone states: Well, I guess we

handful of friends wears on her mentality. Also, because of the fall she had in the shower it made

theory that applies to her is disengagement theory. This theory means older people withdrawing

Emotional Intelligence Vs Cognitive Intelligence
I believe emotional intelligence stands ahead of cognitive intelligence by a little though latter is
equally powerful too. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies
demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to
manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the
ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply
abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional
cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligenceis more important simply because it
determines how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very
same strength drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success.
Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with
role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. However, to be
emotionally intelligent is to be able to let out emotions the right way. When we are able to stay
humble during success and determined during failures, patient during anger and calm during
frustration, we basically already win. However, on the other hand, no matter how logical we are, if
we are just restless, then it will not be worthwhile. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero
Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero:
A man doesn t become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall
Tragic hero s who fit under Aristotle s depiction are known as Aristotelian Tragic Hero s and
possess five specific characteristics;
1) A flaw or error of judgment (also known as hamartia which is a fatal flaw leading to the downfall
of a tragic hero or heroine)
2) A reversal of fortune due to the error of judgment (also known as peripeteia , which is a sudden
reversal of fortune or change in circumstances)
3) The discovery or recognition that the reversal was brought about by the hero s own actions
(Referred to as anagnorisis , which is a moment in a play when a character makes a critical
discovery)
4) Excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good plot progresses like a knot that is tied up with increasingly greater complexity until the
moment of peripeteia, at which point the knot is gradually untied until it reaches a completely
unknotted conclusion.
For a tragedy to arouse pity and fear, we must observe a hero who is relatively noble going from
happiness to misery as a result of error on the part of the hero. Our pity and fear is aroused most
when it is family members who harm one another rather than enemies or strangers. In the best kind
of plot, one character narrowly avoids killing a family member unwittingly thanks to an anagnorisis
that reveals the family connection. The hero must have good qualities appropriate to his or her
station and should be portrayed realistically and consistently. Since both the character of the hero
and the plot must have logical consistency, Aristotleconcludes that the untying of the plot must
follow as a necessary consequence of the plot and not from stage artifice, like a deus ex machina
(a machine used in some plays, in which an actor playing one of the gods was lowered onto the
stage at the end).
Aristotle discusses thought and diction and then moves on to address epic poetry. Whereas
tragedy consists of actions presented in a dramatic form, epic poetry consists of verse presented in
a narrative form. Tragedy and epic poetry have many common qualities, most notably the unity of
plot and similar subject matter. However, epic poetry can be longer than

Romans were heavily influenced by Etruscan and Greek culture. Economics and Politics The
economy and politics of Greece were extremely complex. Most importantly Greek commercial
expansion through new trade markets around the Mediterranean with the non Greek world
made it possible for more men to purchase land and power. At the same time the concept of a
polis (city) and demos (common people) and the idea of discussion of public choices and
possible outcomes with collective concern were born in the city state. Two of the most well
known to us today are Athens and Sparta, but there were many more. The mountainous terrain
as well as a deeply entrenched sense of independence probably allowed the system to remain
more of a loose confederation than a central republic, like that of Rome. The early Roman
republic probably began around the year 509 BCE and lasted for more than 450 years before the
gradual decay of its republican institutions. The Senate, which concentrated political leadership,
had come in place by 300 BCE or so to represent the ruling class of patricians and wealthier
members of the plebs. The typical Roman citizen lived in the country and the bulk of the Roman

A Research Study On The Bird Family Cuculidae
One of the biggest investments in a species life goes towards reproducing and raising offspring.
Most species will spend lots of time, energy, and resources into raising their offspring and can be
costly to their own survival. Although some parents will risk about anything to successfully raise
their young and increase their fitness. How much time and energy is spent on raising offspring
greatly varies among speciesand mostly depends on their evolutionary history. Brood parasitism is
a mischievous way for a parent to avoid raising its own young, which can provide many advantages.
However, this behavior has not always been so advantageous and has been shaped through
environmental pressures. The birdfamily Cuculidae has perhaps the most diverse breeding
strategies within any other bird species and has long puzzled biologists (Rothstein, 1990). One of
the major breeding strategies within the Cuculidae family is brood parasitism. Brood parasitism
is the manipulation of a host, of either the same species or a different species, to raise its young
(Soler and MГёller, 1996). This widely practiced behavior within the Cuculidae family of birds has
been shaped due to environmental changes and coevolutionary relationships with other bird species
(Briskie et. al, 1992). Among the 136 species of Cuckoobirds, 53 of them perform brood parasitism
(KrГјger and Davies, 2002). Of these 53 species, the most widespread within all of Europe is the
Cuculus conorus, which is know as the common

Investigating the Water Potential of Potato Cells
Investigating the Water Potential Of Potato Cells Aims 1. To test how water potential, in a
solution, affects the movement of water in and out of a cell by osmosis Prediction I predict that
by increasing the water potential around the outside of the potato cell, (i.e. so that the water
potential is greater outside the cell compared to the inside of the cell e.g. 0m sucrose) that the net
movement of water into the cell will increase. This is due to the water potential being greater
outside the cell compared to the inside of the cell, therefore water will diffuse into the cell by a
process of osmosis. The opposite however will occur when the water potential outside the cell is
lower than that inside the cell (i.e. with hypotonic solutions,... Show more content on

I can do this by following two steps.(1). Firstly I can work out the concentration of sucrose in the
potato by reading of my graph were the %change in mass is 0, as this shows that at this point there
is no net movement of water hence the two areas have equal solute potentials. (In this case the
morality of the potato is 0.14m.) (2). I can then use this to work out the solute potential of the potato
by using the below graph, which was made from information from data sheets, showing the solute
potential at different moralities. The graph shows that as you increase the sucrose concentration of
the solution surrounding a potato,(hence making the solution Hypotonic)that the net movement of
water out of the cell increase. This is represented by the downwards sloping curve of the graph and
is due to the increased solute potential of the surroundings meaning that there is more solute in the
solution; hence more solutes form bonds with water molecules meaning that the water molecules
are no longer free to move or they move more slowly. As a result of this the water enters the solute
solution faster than water leaves the solute i.e. there is a net water movement out of the cell
through the (permeable) membrane . This is not true however before 0.14m concentration of
solution as the solute concentration is greater in the cell and therefore water enters the cell by a
process of

order to help prevent adjustments from being duplicated, I would recommend that a database be

believe that adjustments to customers IRA and CAP accounts can be processed in a timelier
manner. There are currently service level agreements to complete all requests within 1 2 business
days. However, due to a lack of policy enforcement and motivation, different operations areas firm
wide are not following these SLAs and many requests are not completed within 2 days. In order to

any requests received after the cutoff time must be completed ASAP during the next business day.
Managers can hold meetings with their team members weekly in order to stress the importance of

Medicine was an important part of the Muslim world; both rich and poor people were interested in

Subsequently, Muslim doctor and scholars wrote about health and developed an extensive complex

an understanding of fact families. The students will start with one number, 7, and find the different
addition and subtraction fact families for each number. After the students have used the counters
/cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first number, the students will
count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families.
Strengths Weaknesses:
The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different
properties of fact families involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being
the beginning of learning and using fact families, is the fact that the students are using
manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The students are also recording
their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows the
students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of
writing out the information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use
of manipulatives and writing in conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in
learning number combinations. The questions that are related to this lesson will help the students

Polaroid Case
Polaroid Case Objectives * Introduces the construction and use of statistical process control (SPC)
charts and an understanding of the relationship between SPC and conformance quality. * Creating
the strategy and implementation steps for transforming an operation from inspection based to one
that relies on statistically controlled process. * Understanding the complex human and
organizational problems that occur when the basic operating philosophy is changed. * Applying
quality tools to assess the root causes of defect problems. * Understanding the limits of product

First, both R charts show subgroup ranges that are within the control limits, which suggests that
the variation between subgroups is consistent. However, we can clearly see from the X bar chart
for finger height that this process is not in control. Moreover, this seems to be a substantial
problem, as these limits are violated frequently. Exhibit 5 shows the graphs for finger height and
pod weight in each shift. The pod weight graphs for Shift A, B and C shows that processes are in
control. Finger height graphs for shift B shows that process is out of control as several points
fall outside of the control limits. Finger height shift A and C are in control but many points are
close to upper control limits in the X bar charts. From this analysis we conclude that the process
involved in finger height is problematic and should be optimized before moving forward on
analysis of other parts of the overall process. The regular violation of control limits may point to a
significant contribution to overall quality control rejections. III. Quality Check Type of Defects
(exhibit 4) and Reported Defect Rates (exhibit 5) suggests that the output quality of R2 has
declined. The reported defective rate from the operators had decreased from under 1% to 0.5% and
the defective rate from the central process auditors had

Feminism And Its Impact On Women s Rights
they could be. Feminism in refer to a collection of movements and opinions that share a common
goal including to define, create, and achieve equal rights for women in social, economic, cultural
and political dimensions (Berger, 2013).
Feminist movements have fought for women s rights including suffrage rights, right for fair wage,
right to work, hold a public office, own property, education, equal rights in marriages among other
rights (Ryan, 2013).
The journey to achieve these rights has not been without struggle as feminism has been met with
great resistance from the male dominated society.
Besides fighting for women s rights, feminists advocated for bodily autonomy and integrity and
especially to protect girls and women in general from sexual harassment, rape, and domestic
violence (Coppock Haydon, 2014).
Slide 3:
Media has always been an important element in the propagation of ideas in the society. Feminism
has been one of the issues that media has given enough attention over the years. However, the way
the media represents feminism and feminists have not been positive especially in the 19th and 20th
centuries (Johnson, 2014).
Feminism has been portrayed in the media in a different perspective. It has been portrayed as a
fight against men. This has created a picture that the female gender was fighting against the male
gender.
In fact, the way different media has represented feminism and feminists have portrayed women who
support feminism as a scary element in

Comparing The Holy Bible And The Greek Myth
Mankind is destroyed. Few humans are left. The earth was flooded and all perished, save for the
righteous. The world was judged and found wicked, and so it was drowned. A new start is to be
made. There are two flood stories like this from ancient times: the Holy Bible s account and the
Greek myth. Both are strikingly similar, in that the worldwas punished for its wickedness by being
flooded. In each of the flood stories, the cause of the flood, the circumstances, and the aftermath
are very nearly the same. The world was wicked. And so the world had to be punished. In the
Bible s account, all of mankind was corrupt. Man s imagination and heart was incessantly evil. It
grieved God s heart, because He had created these people, and they turned from Him and... Show

Therefore, He decided to destroy mankind and start anew. However, there was one man who
found grace in the eyes of God, and his name was Noah. Noah alone was a righteous man who
walked with God. Because of this, God spared Noah and his family, and instructed him to build an
ark in order to preserve life on the earth. God wanted mankind to continue, but those that were on
the earth at that time were so corrupt, they needed to be destroyed. In the Greek myth, mankind
was again found to be wicked. This wickedness was exemplified by Lycaon, a tyrant king who
scoffed at Zeus s power and attempted to kill him in his sleep in order to see if he really was a
god or not. Lycaon also killed a man and butchered him, putting him in a stew served to Zeus.
Unlike God, who is omniscient and knew the people s hearts, Zeus had come to visit Lycaon in
human form, in order to see how wicked he really was. It was during that visit that Lycaon
showed how terrible he truly was. Zeus destroys Lycaon s home, and as he is fleeing, he is
transformed into a wolf that has

  • 2. A Report On California Drought Carlo Alberto DiPaola Ms.Douglass Speech Debate,P.1 9 December 2015 California Drought Here in the desert we all know it s a very dry place. You may also know that California is in a drought as well and the dryness of our area has resulted in many continuous disadvantages. People are conserving water as much as they can but maybe some of you out there are not doing your part in saving our water and I am here to tell you it is so simple! But first, let me provide some facts on the drought in California that should help you realize the dire situation we are in. According to saveourwater.com, 2013 was marked as the driest year on record in many parts of California including Sacramento and Los Angeles. Water storage in the big reservoirs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the drought can really affect our economy as well as our social life. The Sierra Nevada snowpack, which is counted on to provide 30 percent of the state s water supply as it melts through early summer, is at its second lowest level on record. According to Hippo Reads, it will take about 11 trillion gallons of water (42 cubic kilometers) around 1.5 times the maximum volume of the largest U.S. reservoir to recover from California s continuing drought, according to a new analysis of NASA satellite data. Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought? How can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although these issues are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward developing more resilient water supplies. One way is groundwater legislation: our Governor, Jerry Brown, signed legislation mandating sustainable groundwater management, though the law leaves local entities to define that idea further. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and our investments, that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov). Another way our government is helping is the spending on water projects. Although the government and other corporations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From 1861 to 1865 the Union (northern states) was fighting against the Confederates (southern states that succeeded from the Union). The war resulted in the death of 620,000 plus Americans and left millions injured. During the Civil War there were many important battles that took place over the years. Battle of Fort Sumter, The First Battle of Bull Rum, The Seven Days Battle, The Battle of Antietam, The battle of Vicksburg, and many more. • 4. Destruction Of Anti-Intellectualism In The United States Intellectuals Destruction Anti Intellectualism is defined as a person opposed to or hostile toward intellectuals and the modern academic, artistic, social, religious, and other theories associated with them. Anti intellectualism defines a person who believes that intellect and reason are less important than actions and emotions in solving practical problems and understanding reality. Anti Intellectualism is an epidemic worth acknowledging; its prevalence in America is one of the nations most major hindrances to solving the problems it faces collectively. Anti intellectualsentiment has its basis mostly in misunderstanding, but a persistent stream of misinformation spewed by the impassioned yet hollow rhetoric of shallow politicians and self proclaimed orators has only served to maintain ignorance. Here I hope to explain the history and causes of anti intellectual belief as it has manifested and grown in the United States of America and to demonstrate the detrimental effect it has had and will have on our nation, continuing on to encourage whoever might view this essay to reverse this trend by embracing objective problem solving and developing an interest in critical thinking and the sciences. America, although still young, has grown further into industrialization and exceeded in momentous discoveries in science and mathematics; yet still harbors ill will against intellectuals and knowledge. Me is interesting lyrically, and even more so musically it s not exactly an exploration of the self as much as it is an inhabitation. That is, Rodriguez uses her unique identity and experiences to craft balanced, adaptable songs that can be perceived as intellectual or physical art, as food for thought or as primal messages. Me is such a well rounded and confident record, yet there is a sense of ricketiness to it, as if it has no right to reach this high into the stratosphere; there s very little wrong with it, though. With Me, Rodriguez has crafted a formidable debut album: it s a self assured work that manages to be both experimental and accessible, an album that never fails to please, whether you re embroiled in thought or swept onto the dancefloor. Balance is a theme throughout the record; experimental and established pop methods run hand in hand, as do the eclectically airy instrumentals with Rodriguez s simply delivered vocals. Marshall University Essay Mikayla Kirk 12/5/16 Research Paper Marshall University Marshall University is very special to its community because of its founded history, cataclysmic plane crash, and its ability to come together as a town when tragedy strikes. Marshall University was originally founded in 1837 for the children of local farmers. The local citizens of what is now Huntington, West Virginia petitioned the General Assembly of Virginia to establish an advanced educational program named after Chief Justice John Marshall. By 1850, financial support and the instruction given had deteriorated. The primary school served children ages six to fourteen; the academic school equipped students for business and for further education. The normal school trained teachers for their duties in the educational system. Furthermore, the first class of normal school students graduated in June 1870. From 1880 into the 1900 s, Marshall College went through many changes. Academia and the Music department expanded, enrollment finally surpassed two hundred, and the business department was established. In 1907, Lawrence J. Corby, the president, developed intercollegiate athletics. The school also added an addition for alumni and College Hall, a dormitory for women. Additionally, in 1913, the legislation granted $158,000, $45,000 of that went to a new science building and a gymnasium. The years between 1915 and 1946 struck a steady growth in expansions, enrollment, and improvement of a curriculum. Marshall s curriculum was then eligible to be a four year college in 1920, and awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1921. The school also had more teachers earing terminal degrees, developed a student government, and the athletics department earned the nickname the Thundering Herd. That dispute led to secession, and secession brought about a war in which the Northern and Western states and territories fought to preserve the Union, and the South fought to establish Southern independence as a new confederation of states under its own constitution. In the late 18th century, the abolitionist movement began in the north and the country began to divide over the issue between north and south. In 1820, the Missouri Compromise banned slavery in all new western territories, which southern states saw as a threat to the institution of slavery itself. There were those in the antislavery movement that proposed legislation that would actually purchase the freedom of slaves, as had happened in Europe. This sort of solution would have ended slavery, but done it without the violence and death that the Civil War brought. In contrast, the abolitionist movement sought to end slavery by any means necessary. So, famous abolitionist John Brown resorted to theft, and to attacks on federal officers, in his effort to end slavery. The radical abolitionists had no interested in ending slavery in a peaceful or legal way. They wanted to end slavery at the point of the bayonet. SECESIONISM Before the Civil War, the country was dividing between north and south. Issues included States Rights but centered mostly on the issue of slavery, which was prominent in the south but increasingly banned by northern states. Feldman provides quantitative data, which validates the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership related studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng Feldman, 2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while promoting moral member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior (Ng Feldman, 2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values significantly during their transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also suggests there is a correlation between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior to exercising referent and reward power behavior. Connection to Social Learning Theory The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In terms of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority stake exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context of popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng Feldman, 2015). • 21. Gender Roles In Northanger Abbey And Frances Burney Everywhere we look, we see differences in race, gender, and status. Some people are held to a higher standard and are given more privilege than others. This inequality is seen today and was seen throughout the 18th century. Not many women have the courage to speak out about what happens, but two brave female authors have done so. Jane Austen wrote Northanger Abbey and Frances Burney wrote Evelina, and both novels bring to light the injustices women face. Both female authors used the negative aspect of genderroles that come along with growing up as female to show that an individual can surpass limitations and stereotypes through personal strength. Northanger Abbey is a typical romance novel that has the ending that all readers anticipate the girl falls in love with the boy and they live happily ever after. However, Catherine grows as an individual and surpasses the stereotypical characteristics of a female during the time period. The novel brings to light the gender roles that were instilled during the 18th century by using male characters that strongly enforce what is believe during that time period. Henry Tilney says, In marriage, the man is supposed to provide for the support of the woman; the woman to make the home agreeable to the man; he is to purvey and she is to smile. But in dancing, their duties are exactly changed; the agreeableness, the compliance, are expected from him, while she furnishes the fan and the lavender water. (Austen 73). Henry jokingly ... • 29. Emotional Intelligence Vs Cognitive Intelligence I believe emotional intelligence stands ahead of cognitive intelligence by a little though latter is equally powerful too. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligenceis more important simply because it determines how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very same strength drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success. Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero Aristotle s theory of the Tragic Hero: A man doesn t become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall Tragic hero s who fit under Aristotle s depiction are known as Aristotelian Tragic Hero s and possess five specific characteristics; 1) A flaw or error of judgment (also known as hamartia which is a fatal flaw leading to the downfall of a tragic hero or heroine) 2) A reversal of fortune due to the error of judgment (also known as peripeteia , which is a sudden reversal of fortune or change in circumstances) 3) The discovery or recognition that the reversal was brought about by the hero s own actions (Referred to as anagnorisis , which is a moment in a play when a character makes a critical discovery) 4) Excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good plot progresses like a knot that is tied up with increasingly greater complexity until the moment of peripeteia, at which point the knot is gradually untied until it reaches a completely unknotted conclusion. For a tragedy to arouse pity and fear, we must observe a hero who is relatively noble going from happiness to misery as a result of error on the part of the hero. Our pity and fear is aroused most when it is family members who harm one another rather than enemies or strangers. In the best kind of plot, one character narrowly avoids killing a family member unwittingly thanks to an anagnorisis that reveals the family connection. The hero must have good qualities appropriate to his or her station and should be portrayed realistically and consistently. Since both the character of the hero and the plot must have logical consistency, Aristotleconcludes that the untying of the plot must follow as a necessary consequence of the plot and not from stage artifice, like a deus ex machina (a machine used in some plays, in which an actor playing one of the gods was lowered onto the stage at the end). Aristotle discusses thought and diction and then moves on to address epic poetry. Whereas tragedy consists of actions presented in a dramatic form, epic poetry consists of verse presented in a narrative form. Tragedy and epic poetry have many common qualities, most notably the unity of plot and similar subject matter. However, epic poetry can be longer than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romans were heavily influenced by Etruscan and Greek culture. Economics and Politics The economy and politics of Greece were extremely complex. Most importantly Greek commercial expansion through new trade markets around the Mediterranean with the non Greek world made it possible for more men to purchase land and power. At the same time the concept of a polis (city) and demos (common people) and the idea of discussion of public choices and possible outcomes with collective concern were born in the city state. Two of the most well known to us today are Athens and Sparta, but there were many more. The mountainous terrain as well as a deeply entrenched sense of independence probably allowed the system to remain more of a loose confederation than a central republic, like that of Rome. The early Roman republic probably began around the year 509 BCE and lasted for more than 450 years before the gradual decay of its republican institutions. The Senate, which concentrated political leadership, had come in place by 300 BCE or so to represent the ruling class of patricians and wealthier members of the plebs. • 32. A Research Study On The Bird Family Cuculidae One of the biggest investments in a species life goes towards reproducing and raising offspring. Most species will spend lots of time, energy, and resources into raising their offspring and can be costly to their own survival. Although some parents will risk about anything to successfully raise their young and increase their fitness. How much time and energy is spent on raising offspring greatly varies among speciesand mostly depends on their evolutionary history. Brood parasitism is a mischievous way for a parent to avoid raising its own young, which can provide many advantages. However, this behavior has not always been so advantageous and has been shaped through environmental pressures. The birdfamily Cuculidae has perhaps the most diverse breeding strategies within any other bird species and has long puzzled biologists (Rothstein, 1990). One of the major breeding strategies within the Cuculidae family is brood parasitism. Brood parasitism is the manipulation of a host, of either the same species or a different species, to raise its young (Soler and MГёller, 1996). This widely practiced behavior within the Cuculidae family of birds has been shaped due to environmental changes and coevolutionary relationships with other bird species (Briskie et. al, 1992). Among the 136 species of Cuckoobirds, 53 of them perform brood parasitism (KrГјger and Davies, 2002). Of these 53 species, the most widespread within all of Europe is the Cuculus conorus, which is know as the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Investigating the Water Potential of Potato Cells Investigating the Water Potential Of Potato Cells Aims 1. To test how water potential, in a solution, affects the movement of water in and out of a cell by osmosis Prediction I predict that by increasing the water potential around the outside of the potato cell, (i.e. so that the water potential is greater outside the cell compared to the inside of the cell e.g. 0m sucrose) that the net movement of water into the cell will increase. This is due to the water potential being greater outside the cell compared to the inside of the cell, therefore water will diffuse into the cell by a process of osmosis. The opposite however will occur when the water potential outside the cell is lower than that inside the cell (i.e. with hypotonic solutions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can do this by following two steps.(1). Firstly I can work out the concentration of sucrose in the potato by reading of my graph were the %change in mass is 0, as this shows that at this point there is no net movement of water hence the two areas have equal solute potentials. (In this case the morality of the potato is 0.14m.) (2). I can then use this to work out the solute potential of the potato by using the below graph, which was made from information from data sheets, showing the solute potential at different moralities. The graph shows that as you increase the sucrose concentration of the solution surrounding a potato,(hence making the solution Hypotonic)that the net movement of water out of the cell increase. This is represented by the downwards sloping curve of the graph and is due to the increased solute potential of the surroundings meaning that there is more solute in the solution; hence more solutes form bonds with water molecules meaning that the water molecules are no longer free to move or they move more slowly. As a result of this the water enters the solute solution faster than water leaves the solute i.e. there is a net water movement out of the cell through the (permeable) membrane . This is not true however before 0.14m concentration of solution as the solute concentration is greater in the cell and therefore water enters the cell by a process of ... The goal of the lesson is to help the students gain an understanding of fact families. The students will start with one number, 7, and find the different addition and subtraction fact families for each number. After the students have used the counters /cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first number, the students will count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families. Strengths Weaknesses: The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different properties of fact families involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being the beginning of learning and using fact families, is the fact that the students are using manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The students are also recording their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows the students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of writing out the information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use of manipulatives and writing in conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in learning number combinations. Exhibit 5 shows the graphs for finger height and pod weight in each shift. The pod weight graphs for Shift A, B and C shows that processes are in control. Feminism in refer to a collection of movements and opinions that share a common goal including to define, create, and achieve equal rights for women in social, economic, cultural and political dimensions (Berger, 2013). Feminist movements have fought for women s rights including suffrage rights, right for fair wage, right to work, hold a public office, own property, education, equal rights in marriages among other rights (Ryan, 2013). The journey to achieve these rights has not been without struggle as feminism has been met with great resistance from the male dominated society. Besides fighting for women s rights, feminists advocated for bodily autonomy and integrity and especially to protect girls and women in general from sexual harassment, rape, and domestic violence (Coppock Haydon, 2014).
