Satirical Essay
Writing a satirical essay can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies in
striking the delicate balance between humor and critique, as satire requires a keen understanding
of the subject matter and a sharp wit to effectively convey the intended message. Crafting a
satirical essay involves not only presenting a humorous perspective on a particular issue but also
subtly addressing the underlying problems or absurdities.
One of the challenges is finding the right tone – it should be satirical enough to provoke
thought and laughter, but not so caustic that it alienates the audience. Navigating this fine line
can be tricky, as too much humor might dilute the critical message, while excessive criticism can
undermine the comedic aspect. Additionally, the satirical essay writer must be well-versed in the
nuances of the chosen topic to ensure the satire is both insightful and relevant.
Moreover, selecting the appropriate target for satire demands careful consideration. It should be a
subject that resonates with the audience and has sufficient depth to explore satirically. Striking
the right chord with the readers requires a deep understanding of their perspectives, allowing the
writer to engage with the audience's shared experiences and perceptions.
In the process of crafting a satirical essay, one must also grapple with the challenge of
maintaining coherence and clarity. While humor is a crucial element, the essay should remain
organized and focused to effectively convey its message. Balancing creativity with structure can
be demanding, especially when trying to infuse levity into a thought-provoking piece.
In conclusion, writing a satirical essay requires a unique set of skills that encompasses humor,
insight, and a keen understanding of the chosen subject. The challenge lies in marrying wit with
critique, maintaining a delicate balance to engage readers effectively. Successfully navigating
these complexities can result in a powerful and impactful satirical essay that leaves a lasting
impression.

Advantage And Advantages Of Airplanes
I.INTRODUCTION Vertical Take off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take off and
Landing (STOL) flight has been one of the main interests of both the civilian and
military aviation communities throughout the history of flight. The first patented
VTOL design concept was by Nikola Tesla in 1928. In May 1951, Lockheed and
Convair were awarded contracts in the attempt to design, construct, and test two
experimental VTOL fighters. As a result, Lockheed produced the XFV, and Convair
produced the Convair XFY Pogo, nicknamed the Pogo . Both experimental
programs proceeded to flight status and completed test flights 1954 1955. Similarly,
the X 13 flew a series of test flights between 1955 and 1957. But due to much higher
complexity, cost and low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another advantage, both to operators and to nearby residents, is the large
reduction in ground noise level made possible by the utilization of the steep
descent and climb out capability of the VTOL aircraft. The VTOL airplane has
great potential value in its military applications too. The most obvious advantage is
its utilization in delivering ground troops and supplies, the requirement being only
that a clearing of sufficient size exist in a reasonably level region. Tactical close air
support VTOL airplanes can operate in close proximity to zones of action out of
these same clearings, thus reducing the time required to deliver ordnance on a target,
or the number of airplanes required airborne on station. Destruction of or damage to
airfield runways loses significance if the aircraft utilizing the field have a VTOL
capability. Consistent with weight and size limitations, each VTOL airplane is
capable of shipboard operations, without the requirement for arresting hooks, catapult
fittings, and the usually associated structural beef up. By the same token, many ships,
with the relatively simple addition of a landing area, are capable of operating VTOL
airplanes without the requirement for heavy and complicated arresting
Color Imagery In A Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro
In A Red Dress 1946 , a short story by Alice Munro, uses the significance of color
imagery throughout the story. The color red represents nonconformity, standing
out or being unique This is because of the narrator s unwillingness to be a unique
girl. However, the color blue represents conformity, being able to blend in with
society, and the ability to be like everyone else due to the narrator s lack of courage
to be unique and to be herself. Both of these colors point out different aspects of the
narrator s inner self and show how much she desires to hide her unique redself and
appear blue. Colorimagery is used throughout the short story, A Red Dress 1946 in
order for the author to demonstrate the inner thoughts of the narrator. In the short
story, A Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro, Color imagery is used for signifying a
girls point of view of her world and her own self by using the color red which
represents nonconformity. The narrator has only a slight interest in being red, but
she really wants to be blue, just like everyone else. Munro writes, When I was
asked a question in class, any simple little question at all...that I had blood on my
skirt .(2) The narrator is just so nervous about being red she is thinking of bad things
that can happen with the color red. She is thinking of all the bad times the color red
could do a girl badly, just like a girls period could leak at any moment. In A Red
Dress 1946 , a short story by Alice Munro, she uses Color Imagery to show the
significance of the narrator s view of the color red and all the Evil about it.
In a short story by Alice Munro, A Red Dress 1946 , Color Imagery is used to
represent the inner feelings of the narrator and how she wants to be blue. The
narrator s dream is to live a blue life, a life where she is just like everyone else.
Munro writes, when I was unaware of the world s opinion. Now, grown wiser, I
wished for dresses like those my friend Lonnie had, bought at Beale s store (1).
Lonnie is able to buy things like her dresses from stores which just makes the
narrator want to be blue. The narrator wants to be blue even more because of how
Lonnie and many other girls can buy things but if she wants a nice dress she can t

Have you wonder where the power of technology and computers and all of the
applications came from? Well there are a lot of computer applications like local
security applications, protocols, well I am going to explain some security
applications to you. There are many kinds of different security applications. I am
going to explain two of different applications Linux and security policy settings.
Now what are security policies? Security policy settings in Microsoft could be used
as part of all of our security implementation to make sure and to secure domain
controllers, servers, client computers, and other resources in the whole computer
world. One of the security applications in Microsoft is security compliance manager
what is that? Well security compliance manager is a downloadable tool to our
computer that will help us deploy, plan , operate and manage the security baselines
for windows client and server operating settings and of course for Microsoft settings.
What does it contain? It contains the complete database of recommended security
settings methods to customize the baselines and the option to implement the
important settings in multiple formats. The next thing is called security
configuration wizard. It is an application where you go through the process of
applying, editing, or rolling back a security policy the security policy that we could

The Toronto Transit System And Municipal Transit Agency
Over the past several years, Toronto has struggled to find new dedicated streams of
revenue to fund its regional transit system, all while Metrolinx, the provincial transit
agency is developing the province s Big Move plan in hopes of connecting the
Greater Toronto and
Hamilton Area transportation system. The province stopped funding the TTC s
operating funds in 1996 and since then, the City of Toronto has relied on a subsidy
from the city and fares to balance this. Later in 2006, Metrolinx was created by the
Province of Ontario as the first
Regional Transportation Agency for the GTHA and in 2016, Move the GTHA
reveals a $30 billion funding gap which begs the questions of who should fund the
regional transit system and by what mechanisms? It is very hard for a city as large as
Toronto to keep up with its funding for regional transit without much efforts from the
provincial or federal government. The Toronto Transit
Commission (TTC) is falling behind on a massive deficit when funding its Operating
Budget.
Only two thirds of the TTC s Operating Budget are covered by fares. These fares
generate about $1.1 billion of the TTC s $1.6 billion operating budget. The rest
primarily comes from a city subsidy, which is $428 million, up from $411 million in
2013 according to Jennifer Palisoc
(Palisoc, 2014). With the continuous struggle of efforts to get Toronto s transit system
back up on its feet again, the Province of Ontario created Metrolinx; an organization

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones,
Jones describes the Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I
have ever encountered. The Plain Natives consisting primarily of Blackfoot,
Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the bison a sacred animal because
it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good bison kill would
weigh about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives
could use the bladder and stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides
were used as cover for teepees and the various bones as weapons. The Plain Natives
believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the soul purpose of
keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In
Jones s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne
tribe. In this way when Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was,
Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters
that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100 Indians came from miles away to
the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out hunting for bison.
This shows how important the bison were for the natives. When a single herd of
bison was sighted it was so important that every man in the tribe would leave their
wives and children at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid 1800 s, the
American frontiersmen were

The cardinal is dead. Or dies, in this case. Cardinal Morel was responsible for
bringing the late King Francis liver to court. The blackened liver was proof that he
was poisoned and that Catherine, his own mother, was the one responsible. To prove
her innocence, Catherine, with the help of Bash, found out that the embalmer never
cut open Francis body and left quickly, carrying with him a huge sum of money. To
prove she did not commit the abominable crime, she brought her son s corpse with

best friend Lola that he manipulated her into marrying him by scaring her with the rat

Catherine dresses herself as a poor man. She never did that, ever. Catherine, with

was flea infested which is worse compared to the ragged gowns she wore in the
dungeons.
Last but not the least, Don Carlos wakes up and calls Mary Pretty! . Finally, Mary

because when Don Carlos woke up, he can t remember anything. However, the

Essay on Spiral of Silence
Public communication is very important when in a discussion with coworkers and
such. The one weakness that some people run into is silence. The spiral of silence
theory by Elisabeth Noelle Neumann explains why certain people fall under the
pressure and seclude to silence. Silence may not always be a bad thing, but
according to a study by Lucy J. MacGregor, the fact is that silence during a speechor
conversation is absolutely bad. With this, silence while talking to a large group
negatively affects the listeners in a way in which some words in the speech will not
be remembered. The point is that silence tends to destroy people s speeches. Words
are forgotten in the speech; Loss of the attention by the listeners happens and the...

In every high school, there are the jocks, the band, the nerds, the people on drugs,
the religious and so on and so forth. Some of these groups were known as the
popular group and some were known as the creeps. These names that are given to
the groups still happen in everyday life when you are older and this also affects
whether or not the person will speak up about a certain topic. When certain groups
have to keep secrets from other groups for safety reasons, this does not help the
silence situation at all. The fact that groups are keeping secrets from others means
that they do not trust anyone else which forces groups into silence and they cannot
voice their opinion anymore. The Spiral of Silence has a key voice in the workplace,
which involves the use of presentations. One thing affected by the listener not
wanting to support the speaker is the fact of whether or not the listener is actually
paying attention (Denham Vaughan 7). It has been said that listeners are more than
likely to lose their attention when there is a break in the speech by the speaker. When
this happens, the listener is more than likely going to jumble up sentences together
and guess the wrong word to finish the current statement that the speaker broke the
pause with. This happens because the train of thought is said to be interrupted and
lose focus on the certain topic. Viewing the eyes and seeing the horizontal and

My Love Of Dance
As a child I was very active. Participating in gymnastics, dance, soccer, and
volleyball. This was a very enjoyable time in my life. School was not very difficult
considering I was only in grade school. My greatest passion was dance. At this point
in my life I had been dancing for six years. Dancing was something I took pride in.
Getting the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people excited me.
This love of dance started when I was three. My mother had brought me to the Ozark
Dance Academy. I can remember exactly how i felt. Remind you I was roughly three
foot and everyone had already formed partners. I couldn t even see over the bar. We
all know that the short quiet one is always left alone. My teacher Mrs. Julie had
grabbed my hand, walked me to the middle of the floor, and whispered into my ear
dance like you are the only one here. The music clicked on, heart pounding in my
ears, I started to dance. I feel like everyone was slightly impressed. Moving to the
music with all of this passion made me feel like I was dancing on air. All of my
nerves went away. Later that day after my class had ended Mrs. Julie walked me over
to my mom and said something I will never forget. Why don t we put her into basic
point? I Grace Van Helden, only being three was about to be in a class with five and
six year olds. Boy was i smiling.
Being in this environment made me happy. Everyone no matter their background
could come and experience the joy of dancing. Point was
Circuit Switching Essay
1.a)The Circuit switched network has its advantages that would be more
appropriate to use in this situation. Circuit switching allows the use of a
Transmission link to be pre determined. this would allow the long session to be
reserved as opposed to packet switching which does not reserve resources which can
result in waiting for access for a communication link. Packet switching also takes
apart the packets one by one which would take more time to arrive at its destination
as unforeseen delays may occur. 1.b) In the worst case, all the applications
simultaneously transmit over one or more network links. However, since each link
has sufficient bandwidth to handle the sum of all of the applications data rates, no
congestion (very little queuing) will occur. Given such generous link capacities, the...

In the client server model, the clients tend to be computers or devices that connect
to the server which refers to machines that stores resources that can be used by
clients. It must be noted that the clients are dependent on the server as it is the
central location where the data is shared and in terms of security, there is one user
account and password that is needed to access the shared resources. In terms of
performance, upgrades can be made to the server to cope with high demand.
Backups are done on the main server. In the peer to peer model, data is shared
amongst all the computers connected within the network as there is no central
server. Due to the lack of central control, security and the network itself is left
vulnerable. The computers within the network are dependent on one another, thus if
the machines are slow for some reason, a domino effect will occur. Due to the lack of
a central server, each computer has to be backed up
Kurt Vonnegut
This conversation really stood out to me while I was reading the chapter. Kurt
Vonnegut was able to connect the dreadful history of our past with important
current problems of our present. In this time period of this conversation, Billy is
with his wife, Valencia Pilgrim, at their honeymoon. Throughout the book,
Valencia is described as an extremely good natured woman. However, she is
slightly large in size and is extremely conscious of it. As you can see, despite the
fact that the book was written in the mid 1900s, beauty standards have been
imposed on women since the beginning of time. Valencia is one of my favorite
characters in the book. Although only appearing once or twice, she is presented as a
caring wife and a loving mother. Valencia

An Interview By Roger Ebert
An interview is a form of nonfiction a text that tells the truth. Do you think Jones is
being truthful in his observations of Roger Ebert? Do you Ebert is being truthful in
his statements about himself? Are you more likely to believe when someone else
says about a person or what the person says about himself or herself? Explain your
reasoning. I do not know anything about Roger Ebertbeyond these articles, but I
assume Jones is being truthful about his observations of Ebert. I do not believe
there is any reason to be anything, but truthful about his observations. Again, I do
not see any reason to not be truthful, so I am sure Ebert is being truthful as well
about himself. I think it depends on the person to believe what they have to say
about themselves opposed to what others may say because some people know
themselves more than others and might know who they are better than someone else,
but in other cases others may know the person more deeply than the person knows
themself, so I think it is just picking and choosing what you want to believe.
How are emotional pain and loss different from physical pain and loss? Can the

Executive Summary:
In 1992, Samsung Electronics adopted the form of a wholly owned subsidiary as the
entry mode into China. It s entry into China was in order to maintain growth due to
the tough competition in Korea. China was selected in order to take advantage of
its low wages for the mass production of low to medium priced products. The initial
manufacturing ground was at Tianjin due to its costal location hence making it easy

After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries
were subject to a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both
immediate crisis management in unstable financial markets and the medium term
restructuring and repositioning of their economies in the face of intensified export
competition.
South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged
exchange rates encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to
foreign exchange risk in both the financial and corporate sectors. Economists have
advanced the impact of Mainland
China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis.
China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the
1990s after the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. Western
importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose
currency was depreciated relative to the dollar. The report will address the corporate

which it was operating.

Adams et al., (2002) pointed out that one of the greatest challenges faced is related
to the complex needs patients related to emotional and social challenges. They
share that all doctors, at some point in an interview, stated that there was at least
one situation where an elderly patient s medical needs overlapped with
psychosocial and/or administrative difficulties (p. 840). The authors go on to
explain that physicians acknowledge that resources in the community were
generally subpar. The doctors also reported that arranging in home care and other
community services was difficult because these avenues were best navigated by
social workers (Adams et al., 2002). Placing social workers within the physician s
office could be a simple way to address the holistic needs of the aging patients who
are treated. Herzog, Gaertner, Scheidt Nave Holzhausen (2015) propose that
physicians offices would be better served to develop an interprofessional primary
care network (p. 9). This recommendation suggests that having the social worker
housed in the doctor s office would help bridge the gap between professional
services. When aske specifically about embedding social workers in the offices of
physicians who work with older adults, Dr. Carron agreed that this could be a hugely
beneficial asset and
Elie Wiesel Character Analysis
Throughout the memoir, Wiesel experienced a great deal of emotional trauma that
led to change in character. One main instance of emotional trauma Weisel endured
was with his father s death. Early on in Night Wiesel promises himself, he will
never leave his father and will do anything to keep him alive. You see his ideas
begin to change at Buna. When his father was beaten by Idek and Franek, Elie
could only watch in disbelief as he saw his father be beaten. However, he was not
angry at the Kapos but at his father. He felt that his father was showing his
weakness and in turn, that such weakness could put their chance of survival at risk.
During the run to Gleiwitz, Eliezer saw Rabbi Eliahou s son abandon his father.
When Elie s father died, crying out Elie s name, he did not respond. Weisel later
blamed himself for being too weak; just like Rabbi Eliahou s son, he had not passed
the test. Another form of change experienced by Wiesel... Show more content on

Influence Of Past And Present
Influence of past and present.
Definitely we all have our past and what we are living with is present. Past could be
sweet or bitter whatever we have spent directly and indirectly influences our present.
It is also said that our present is determined by our past. How we spent our
childhood, environment we have grown up, education we took, family background,
nature of the family members and occupations of our parents. All of those are the past
variables connected with our present. That s why our past life is considered as the
direct variable of our present life, which has direct impact with where we are today.
I am not talking all of the substances that the past life connection with the present.
The main concern of my past influences is if we had our bad past life, how to
overcome them and just take a good lesion to move forward in our life. Everyone
must have gone with different situations in the past. We could have very interesting

Effects of Free Primary Education on Learners with

A SUMMARY OF WHAT I INTEND TO DO.
The research will investigate the effects of free primary education on learners with
diverse needs in the main stream primary schools. (A case of Lilongwe Urban
Schools)
Identification of a sample of teachers, parents, pupils, schools.
Distribution of questionnaires, conduct interviews, and observations.
The Data will be conducted from four mainstream primary schools in Lilongwe
district.
3.0.RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1.A statement of search method

the mainstream primary schools in which in some way or the other prevent them
from receiving quality education. (Ministry of Education PIF Document on special

This is expensive and need expertise to use specialized materials. In this case, if the
government is failing to provide learning materials for ordinary learners, what more
to the provision of teaching and learning materials to learners with special educational
needs.
The shortage of teachers and recruitment of unqualified and untrained teachers who
did not have any knowledge on special needs education was also another recipe for
disaster because the needs of learners with special educational needs were not given a
priority. (Ministry of Education PIF document 2000). Thus, it is reported by 1997,
more than half the teachers were untrained, compared with 13% before the
introduction of Free Primary Education. The World Bank Report on effects of free
primary education (2004) states that this left learners with special educational needs
to struggle to meet the needs of the school and not the schools meeting the needs of
learners with special educational needs. As such it is to the interest of the researcher
to assess on how this has led to low academic achievement to both learners with
special educational needs and ordinary learners.
Poor infrastructure is also another area of concern, according to an article by
Ligomeka. B. (2000), it is stated that the ambitious plan by the Malawi government
to boost its education levels by offering free primary education backfired, largely
because of the terrible poor
Essay On Training Needs Analysis
The development of a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is primarily based on the
evaluation of desired outcomes. The results entail the responsibilities and cognitive
abilities of an employee following a substantial acquisition of information (Praslova,
2010). Such outcomes are also expressed regarding performance, conditions, and
standards to promote competence. As such, it is through the development of a
dynamic TNA that the relevant outcomes, performance gaps, and employee
expectations are determined.

Outcome 3
By the end of the training program, each worker will be obliged to adopt positive
attitudes and feelings towards the job requirements and company s legislative

The workers exposed to a training program will have to be optimistic about their

Furthermore, trained workers will be required develop composite cognitive
assessments of the occupational facets which include opportunities, pay, conditions
among other aspects.
On the other hand, the trained employees will not be required to participate in

Office Space Analysis
Introduction and Description The movie Office Space illustrates employee
experience in a common office job, with a satirical twist to the dilemmas and
struggles they endure. The movie opens with main character Peter Gibbons and his
two co workers Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar having a rough Monday
morning in Intech, the software company they work for. And throughout the movie,
the hardships of working for managers that are uncaring and overbearing, being
confined in small cubicles all day, and having no passion for their careers are
clearly displayed. Office Space depicts the harsh realities of office job through
humor. Peter Gibbons was not only having issues with motivation in the workplace,
but also in his love life with his girlfriend, who brings forth the idea of seeking

Watch, Discover Beauty Within, and Seventeen. Watch magazine is a lifestyle
magazine entertainment, fashion and beauty magazine. This magazine gives

perspective. The magazinecontains interviews and photo shoots of celebrities.
Discover Beauty Within is a beauty magazine launched by Walgreens that provides

magazines varied from teens, adult magazine and beauty. I used six internet sources
for additional advertisements online. I used four different blogs, Victoria Secret, and

How Did Robert Hooke Contribute To The World
Long before the introduction of Mendelian Genetics and the discovery of the double

molecular and cell biology, creating the fundamentals of what we know today. One
of the earliest and most influential was Robert Hooke, an English natural
philosopher, architect and Renaissance man. Hooke made numerous contributions to
all fields of science but his most famous piece of work was his book Micrographia,
which he published in 1665. Micrographia contains detailed studies and incredibly
intricate drawings of natural objects such as plants and insects. He built his own
microscopes and examined the materials making meticulous diagrams and

Chalcogen Essay
Also known as the oxygen family, chalcogens are sulfur (S), selenium (Se),
tellurium(Te), and polonium (Po). Oxygen (O) is also in group 16, where
chalcogens are located on the periodic table. While it is defined as a chalcogen,
oxygen and oxides are often separated from chalcogens because its chemical behavior
is much different than that of the other elements in the group. The other elements in
the group show similar patterns in their electron configurations resulting in similar
chemical behavior. The name chalcogen means ore former, derived from the Greek
words chalcos: ore and gen: formation. An interesting fact is that oxygenis the most

Selenium itself is a nontoxic element, but when made into a compound, it can
become very toxic. For example, Hydrogen selenide is intolerable to humans.
Tellurium s name is derived from the latin word for earth, tellus . It is very brittle
and has a silvery white appearance. When a human is exposed to even the smallest
amount of Tellurium, they develop Tellurium breath , which smells like garlic. It was
discovered by Franz Joseph MОґller von Reichenstein, who was a the chief inspector
of mines in Transylvania, but was name by M. Klaproth. Polonium, which is very
poisonous and radioactive, was discovered by Marie Curie. She named it after her
native country, Poland. It is very rare and is made only in small quantities through a
nuclear reaction of bismuth. An interesting fact about polonium is that there actually
is no real world use for it, but it can be used as a poison.

The Effects Of Outdoor Play On Children
Outdoor Play In today s society, we have increasing numbers of obesity in children.
Researchers are trying to find the answer as to why this is happening. The sad part
is, no one has looked at the numbers of how much time a child spends outside has
decreased over the last decade. We have increasing numbers of technology being
produced on the market and fail to look at how technology has harmed humans in a
biological sense. There has been evidence of blue violet light, produced from smart
phones, is related to macular degeneration, where a macula sits in front of the ocular
nerve prohibit loss of central vision (Newsbeat, 2014). Why should our world fall
into the trap of smartphones and devices and forget about the outdoors? Playing
outdoors stimulates many things for children, along with keeping them healthy. One
blog promotes playing outdoors and explains the enhancement of development that
happens when a child is outside. It s time our children step away from technology
and learn the greatness of the outdoors. Laurie Hollman (2016), a psychoanalyst,
wrote an article on the Huffington post explaining the positive effects of playing
outdoors has on children. When a child is able to play outside, they are first learning
to coordinate their body with their surroundings. This can either be through playing
with a ball, using a swing, playing on a jungle gym, or even playing hop scotch.
When a child is playing with parent outside, they are building a relationship. This

The Omnivore s Dilemma Summary
How much do you really know about the food you eat? Reading the book The
Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan, Getting Real About the High Price of Our
Cheap Food by Bryan Walsh, and the movie Food Inc. gave me an idea of how our
food is made and what is in it. Also reading the books gave me an idea, Michael
Pollanmostly talked about corn and Bryan Walsh talking about high prices of our
cheap food. Robert Kenner explains how we should look into our food to save us
from getting sick or becoming obese.
Michael Pollans argument is how corn is in everything we eat. His claim is, most
of what we eat is corn, in one way or another. Corn is in pills, diapers, charcoal, and
batteries. That s crazy. We don t eat batteries or diapers. When we eat our food it
just doesn t taste like a ball of corn. His evidence is corn feeds the steer that
becomes your steak, the chicken that lays your eggs, the pig that becomes your pork,
the catfish in the catfish farm, and the corn that feeds your dairy cow that becomes
your milk, cheese and ice cream. Everybody thinks since corn is a
Bunn 2 vegetable it s in all of our foods we re eating healthier and getting our
vegetables but were not. Just because corn is a vegetable doesn t mean the corn in
our food is healthy. Most of the corn in our bad foods is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It
s that sweet taste in most of our foods but just because its made out of corn doesn t
mean it s healthier for us. All that extra stuff is doing is adding
Victoria s Perfect Body Ideal
Body ideals have been a recurring yet varying phenomenon for centuries, with
different eras and societies deeming different shapes and bodies to be ideal and
beautiful. This has ultimately resulted in a contemporary society where girls believe
they are flawed for not living up to a predetermined body standard and grow up
constantly wanting to look like that girl on the front page of magazine covers.
Throughout history, body shapes have ranged from curvy to thin, but it wasn t until
the 1990 s when the perfect body reached an all time thin. Supermodel, Kate Moss,
revolutionized the modeling industry, effectively replacing the athletic body type of
the previous decade with the heroin chic body shapetrend (Hart, 2015). Calvin Klein

Like the thigh gap phenomena, the latter is largely based on how your body is
structured the only way you can achieve this gap is by having wide hips and
outward angling bones (Stork, 2013). Although the new trend is, in my opinion, a
little healthier as it promotes exercise as a way to achieve the perfect looking booty,
young women are still using waist trainers in hopes that they will mould their waists
into a slimmer figure. As for the women who want to achieve this body but, have
naturally small breasts and butts, they often, resort to plastic surgery to achieve the
society s perception of beauty. According to Long Island plastic surgeon Stephen J.
Greenberg,
Women are looking for larger, but more natural looking breasts as well as enhanced
buttocks, rounder hips and slimmer waists as well as thighs. (Tunell, 2015)
Not only is this new craze a bit extreme, it is also dangerous. How? Well, when you
have a full box and you continually apply force to it (in hopes of making the box
smaller), the force will eventually become too much for the box to handle and it will
collapse. With this image in mind, that is almost exactly what the waist trainer does

we created a line that was declining or inclining as a reference point for the

Wal-Mart Scandal Essay
New York Times reporter David Barstow uncovered a shocking story against retail

bribes to accelerate growth in their Mexican zoning areas. These allegations
surfaced when a Hispanic lawyer contacted Wal Mart headquarters in Bentonville

Macbeth Ambition
English Assignment Term 3
Representations of ambition within Macbeth
Within Macbeth, there are numerous representations of human values and conflicts,
including duty vs. desire, the effects of a guilty conscience on the human journey and
the differences between genders, and the superiority of men within the play, and the
modern era. The value foregrounded throughout this text is the representations of
ambition within the play Macbeth, and we will be focusing on the protagonist of the
story, ironically named Macbeth.
The effect of ambition can be a double edged sword. Ambition can provide a person

them. On the other hand, however, ambition can ... Show more content on

This is due to the Chain of Being, which he has distinctly broken. Once this

Gloria Play Analysis
The play that was chosen to be adapted to film was, Gloria. Gloria , is written by
Branden Jacobs Jenkins. The play was first performed in the theater on May 28,
2015 and has only remained on the stage. Gloria , is definitely a cinematic piece of
work, which means it has qualities that will adapt well into a film. What qualities
in the play make it cinematic? First, the dialogue in the play will certainly adapt
well when creating a film. The structure of the play is another cinematic quality as
well as the jump cuts throughout the course of the performance. Gloria , is a two
act play. When adapting this play to film, one important aspect is the different
shots that are being filmed. Whose face do you want showing? What angle is the
camera? Do you want the character being filmed to look superior or weak? Also,
how the locations are going to come into play for the making of the film. The
climactic scene is when Gloria opens fire in the office and kills almost everyone
including herself. This scene is at the end of Act 1 on pages mid 29 30. I would

inside. It almost seems that we can hear my sister saying, Everything will be okay,
I am still near you. I chose this photo because one, it depicts year I will be writing
about and it s when my sister passed away. This photo is very important to me
because even though all of my family members weren t all there, we will were able
to take one last photo with my sister. This is the year twenty fourteen. I chose to
write my inquiry paper about this year because not only that it put a whole in my
heart with what happened to my sister, but a lot of people the world were lost
because of a disease outbreak, and loosing of a comedic actor. It was an important
year in my life because my world turned upside down with the lost of my sister. It
was big change after lost her. In the year twenty fourteen, I never knew in my life
that it would be the beginning of a fall in my family. We never knew that a piece of
us would be torn away so quickly. Out of all the things that had happened in my life.
The most heartbreaking was the moment that my sisters pulse slowly started to
decrease. At the time six ten am was the exact moment my heart broke into tiny
pieces. I knew there wasn t any other way to get her back, I knew that it was it.

Social Problems Of The Aging Population

The new demographic trends translate into the investment of the population pyramid
of many countries (if until then people over 55 60 years ago did not represent much
percentage with respect to the total volume of the population and the greatest volume
we found in childhood and adolescence, that is, the base of the population pyramid
begins to decrease increasing its peak, where older people are). This, together with
the changes that occur in society (appearance of organized social services, changes
in the system of family organization, incorporation of women into the workplace,
technological advances and new medical advances ...) has an impact on the health
needs and the distribution of social services for the elderly population. The
individual ages and the society ages. When considering the stage of aging we are
presented with a social problem of the first order, in that older people as a different
and important group in the demographic field, with specific cultural features, their
own interests, ... are demanding that society be guaranteed the increase of their well
being, the performance of roles that give meaning to their lives, the development of
attitudes different from the current ones with which marginalization and uprooting,
insecurity, lack of quality of life and all the prejudices, myths and stereotypes, which
are part of the social imaginary that surround the aging process. The resources

know you want it. I know you want it. I know you what it... My back was pressed
against the wall, partly because I couldn t stand up straight on my own. You re a
good girl... The obnoxious music penetrated deep past my ear drum and pumped
through me. The stench of sweat and stale foamy beer consumed the air. Blackness
engulfed me and all the other one hundred clammy bodies in the room. Their
erratic body movements were revealed to the wandering eyes only when the disco
ball flashed its blinding lights on them. Can t let it get past me. You re far from
plastic. Talk about getting blasted... He was leaning against the wall right next to
me. His hand was wrapped around my waist, which pulled me closer and closer to
him. I thought nothing of it. I hate these blurred lines... Alcohol and adrenaline
spread their dizzying magic through my head. I tried to hold onto my clarity, but I
watched myself nervously laughing at his every word and swaying back and forth
more and more often. That August day I set out into Collegetown to assert my
independence from my parents by experiencing for the first time the so called magic
and wonder of fraternity parties without my parents consent. The ostentatiousness,
elation, and novelty that define college parties in movies as a place where college
students blow off steam allured me; college parties are depicted in pop culture as the
quintessential Friday night.

Analysis Of `` Wild `` By Dr. Parlett
The primary focus of psychoanalysis is uncovering the underlying factors hidden in a
client s unconscious to understand the problems they are facing. In Wild Analysis,
Freud emphasizes the responsibility of the therapist go well beyond stating the facts
and interpretation. The therapist must pave the way for the client to understand the
repressed thoughts and behaviors to guarantee effective therapy (Freud, 2002, p. 7).
A practitioner that enforces the psychoanalytic approach in his practice is Dr. Chad
Parlett. Dr. Parlett is a trained psychoanalyst who emphasizes on revealing
underlining causes that often manifested themselves throughout the childhood years.

What we are referring to is supplying the patient our knowledge of the content of his
or her mind and the manner in which this content is either expressed or avoided.
(p.118) Both Greene and Parlett established this notion that analyzing client
disclosures should be much more than what it is on the surface. The interpretation
should reveal something new that the consumer was initially blinded from, giving
them insight on what they are doing. Thus, the interpretation itself should establish a
greater understanding of who the patient is. A therapeutic technique such as
journaling may be helpful in monitoring a client s events and feelings when they are
not in session. Although journaling may not be a primal psychoanalytic technique, it
does provide a client s interpretation of their own progress and what coping skills they
are currently using. The client could always reference back to the journal during the
session which can offer the therapist a new outlook on the situation which generates
their interpretation. Dr. Parlett incorporates journaling with his theoretical orientation
because it gives him more information about the clients as well as give them a more
active role in their own treatment. Also, Mark Stone has found journaling to be
significantly effective with his own clients. According to Stone (????), journaling
Hans Morgenthau Defensive Realism Essay
I. Introduction
The field of International Security Studies has evolved from the discipline of
International Relations as a passage to apprehend the driving forces within
international politics. The increases of traditional and non traditional security threats
and problems have made security studies vital to academics, governments, and
policymakers. In addition to that, the theory of realism has been a long prevailing
paradigm in international security studies. Moreover, realism is more than a single
theory, but this school of thought has flowered and has generated many new branches
and sub branches within realism. Among this school of thought, prominent works in
the theory of realism include the highly influential classical realism ... Show more

Waltz s postulate focuses on the anarchic environment of the international system and
grounds his analysis on the consequence of the anarchic structure in the international
system, which ultimately dictates how states behave. In this chapter, Waltz contends
that the balance of power theory is a unique concept in international politics. The
balance of power concept is laid upon two prerequisites, that the international system
is anarchic and that the international system is filled with units wanting to survive.
This theory claims that the basis of the balance of power does not result from actor s
interests but arises inevitably from the anarchic nature. With that being said, Waltz s
realist account is essentially different from Morgenthau realism model in that he
presents a more systemic theoretical foundation for realism, in where state actions or
balance of power is dictated and predicted from the anarchic nature of the
international system.
On the other hand, Anarchy and the Struggle for Power in Tragedy of Great Power
Politic, by John Mearsheimer possess several basic assumptions in common with
Morgenthau s and Waltz s model of realism. Although, Mearsheimer shares some
basic assumptions with the two authors, he presents a critically different postulate
about the fundamental dynamics of international politics. His model of realism
contends that the discernible behavioural patterns of great
Tuning Fork Physics
If you were to take a tuning fork and whack it against your knee you wouldn t hear
much of anything, unless you hold the tuning fork right next to your ear. And the
reason being is because a small tuning fork can t push very much air around. Now,
if you were to take that same tuning fork and whack it against a wooden surface the
sound should be a lot louder. This is because the vibrating tuning fork causes the
surface to vibrate. So long story short, or in other words, sound is produced when
something vibrates. Sound is apart of our everyday lives. Regardless of if it s the
sound of a leaking water faucet, the tapping of a pencil or even the whistling of
wind, we re surrounded by the physics of sound at all times. Sound waves come in

Suppose that a slinky is stretched out in a horizontal direction across the
classroom and that a pulse is introduced into the slinky on the left end by vibrating
the first coil left and right. Energy will begin to be transported through the slinky
from left to right. As the energy is transported from left to right, the individual
coils of the medium will be displaced leftwards and rightwards. In this case, the
particles of the medium move parallel to the direction that the pulse moves. This
type of wave is a longitudinal wave. Longitudinal waves are always characterized by
particle motion being parallel to wave motion. A surface wave is simply a wave
that travels alongside the surface of a medium, or to make it easier just think of
ocean waves. The large wall of moving water is what gives the surfer an amazing
ride. The surfer gets pushed forward as though they re as light as a feather and all he
needs to do is keep his balance on the surfboard. The incredible power of the wave
will do the rest. Ocean waves such as this one are prime examples of surface
waves. Transverse waves, Longitudinal waves and Surface waves all play a special
role in how sound works. Learning about sound as a whole, specifically sound waves
and what it consists of has given me a such a better understanding of why and how I
hear the things

Admittedly, form, length and literary devices are not requisite to a poem, as many
fine free verse poems illustrate, but this poem does not compensate for its lack of
structure by enhancing its other aspects. In Mary Oliver s poem Morning, there
are no devices aside from alliteration, yet Oliver s poem is much more complex and
interesting for other reasons. The imagery is more artistic, the words more creative,
the syntax more fluid. Oliver describes the linoleum, the wild words, and the
curvaceous response of the lightly leaping cat. The only adjectives Williams uses,
delicious, sweet, and cold, are so common as to have been rendered banal in every
reader s mind. Rather than making the ordinary appear extraordinary through the
clarity and discreteness of his imagery, as the Encyclopaedia Britannica asserts,
Williams succeeds only in making the ordinary appear well, ordinary.
In fact, the whole poem is rather dull. There is no intrigue, no unusual phrase which
catches the attention, no unexpected yet perfect images such as Emily Dickinson s
idea of quartz contentment in her poem After great pain, a formal feeling comes .
One might argue that Dickinson s poem would naturally be more weighty because
she was discussing a great pain, yet it is neither the simplicity of Williams poem nor

The Paradox In Robert Heinlein s All You Zombies
All You Zombies, by Robert Heinlein, is a famous science fiction story that
entwined one of the best paradoxes. The idea of one person being everyone,
including her own mother, father and daughter and has to continuously leap
through time to be able to exist. Despite that paradox isn t revealed until near the
end of the story, it is symbolised through the bartenders ring of a snake eating it s
own tail. Heinlein also shows how the paradox might affect a person s view of the
world through the idea of solipsism. The main point, however, is how the paradox is
literally everything in the story. The Unmarried Mother, or Jane before the sex
change, is the protagonist in the story, and all the other characters of the story as
well. Although in most cases this would be impossible, the story is a paradox. A
paradox, something that seems possible until further investigated and found that it is
logically unacceptable, is the very reason Jane exists. Jane was unknowingly born a
hermaphrodite, and lived unhappily in an orphanage. As the story progressed, she
meets a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the story, Jane travels to their personal quarters and thinks about
presence. I know where I came from but where did all you zombies come from?...
You Aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but me jane here alone in the
dark, knowing that their life is based off a paradox, Jane starts to wonder how
everything else is out there before stating that there is only Jane. This way of
thinking is Solipsism, the idea that the mind is the only thing that can be known to
exist and anything outside the mind is unwarranted. This is a motivation for Jane to
continue to replay the paradox over and over again, because Jane is everything. Jane
is every person, Jane is the reason behind everything and Jane is the

Profitable industries that yield high returns will attract new company s. This results
in many new entrants, which eventually will decrease profitability for all companies
in the industry. Unless the entry of new firms can be prevented. From this perspective
caterpillar has one main competitor in its market. JCB is a company that holds a
similar place to Caterpillar in the market place, producing agricultural, construction

The existence of products outside of the realm of the common product boundaries

To The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
The study is designed to understand the different social issues related to different
characters in the novel To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. It focuses on the
Victorian and Modern marriages and highlights how the female characters are
different from one another. Similarly, there are a lot of religious doubt, degrading
women, and an unclear vision in the novelby one of the characters. However, there
are deaths in the novel too. Similarly, it will focus on the two central women in the
story. Study wants to show that Virginia Woolf
created two very different characters
but with a very interesting and complex connection. The first one is Mrs. Ramsay, a
woman still belonging to the Victorian age, the second, Lily Briscoe, here called a
New woman . My intention is also to analyze the significance of Lily s painting and
how it symbolizes and represents her coming to terms with her homosexuality, and
simultaneously her feelings towards Mrs. Ramsay.
To the Lighthouse depends on passing of time; it expands or contracts the sense of
time very freely It is a book, with an ironical or wistful query and questions of life
and reality. The people in Woolf s book seem to be looking through each other with

Forms of Business Ownership
Forms of Ownership There are a number of forms of ownership that the business
can take. The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability
Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and
disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole
proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the
proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows
through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax
advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The
IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more
individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to
their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes.
Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the
company. Corporations are a different type of business. They are more complex to
start because more paperwork is involved and the corporation generally has to be
registered at the state level. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of
incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal
responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In
addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s
personal income tax statements. The

Renewable Energy Source Capable Of Solving The
Current...
For years, scientists have been pursuing the discovery of a beneficial alternative
energy source capable of solving the current energy crisis. Some of the most popular
forms are solar energy, wind energy, and nuclear energy. Although solar, wind, and
nuclear energy have many benefits, they are vastly detrimental to our environment.
Solar energyrequires a copious amount of space, wind energy is aesthetically
disturbing and harmful to wildlife, and nuclear energy s working fluid is highly
pollutant. In turn, scientists have recently discovered the vast potential of ocean
energy. The United States of America needs to pursue the further development of
ocean energy. First, the ocean furnishes high levels of energy availability. The ocean
stands as the largest energy collector because of its massive size. According to
Renewable EnergyWorld, the sea stands as the largest solar energy collector
because almost three fourths of earth s surface is ocean (Ocean Energy:
Renewable [1]). The Oceans are in one sense, according to the Environmental
Encyclopedia a huge storage tank for solar energy ( Ocean Thermal [1]). Because
the vast majority of earth is covered by the ocean, the ocean has more space to
create energy than any other plant, panel, or mill. Ocean water is in surplus while
land only covers approximately 25 30% of earth s surface. While open and unused
land supplies diminish yearly, the ocean continues to occupy relatively the same
amount of surface area. Second,

Satirical Essay. Step-By-Step Guide on Writing Satirical Essays

  • 1. Satirical Essay Writing a satirical essay can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies in striking the delicate balance between humor and critique, as satire requires a keen understanding of the subject matter and a sharp wit to effectively convey the intended message. Crafting a satirical essay involves not only presenting a humorous perspective on a particular issue but also subtly addressing the underlying problems or absurdities. One of the challenges is finding the right tone – it should be satirical enough to provoke thought and laughter, but not so caustic that it alienates the audience. Navigating this fine line can be tricky, as too much humor might dilute the critical message, while excessive criticism can undermine the comedic aspect. Additionally, the satirical essay writer must be well-versed in the nuances of the chosen topic to ensure the satire is both insightful and relevant. Moreover, selecting the appropriate target for satire demands careful consideration. It should be a subject that resonates with the audience and has sufficient depth to explore satirically. Striking the right chord with the readers requires a deep understanding of their perspectives, allowing the writer to engage with the audience's shared experiences and perceptions. In the process of crafting a satirical essay, one must also grapple with the challenge of maintaining coherence and clarity. While humor is a crucial element, the essay should remain organized and focused to effectively convey its message. Balancing creativity with structure can be demanding, especially when trying to infuse levity into a thought-provoking piece. In conclusion, writing a satirical essay requires a unique set of skills that encompasses humor, insight, and a keen understanding of the chosen subject. The challenge lies in marrying wit with critique, maintaining a delicate balance to engage readers effectively. Successfully navigating these complexities can result in a powerful and impactful satirical essay that leaves a lasting impression. • 2. Advantage And Advantages Of Airplanes I.INTRODUCTION Vertical Take off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take off and Landing (STOL) flight has been one of the main interests of both the civilian and military aviation communities throughout the history of flight. The first patented VTOL design concept was by Nikola Tesla in 1928. In May 1951, Lockheed and Convair were awarded contracts in the attempt to design, construct, and test two experimental VTOL fighters. As a result, Lockheed produced the XFV, and Convair produced the Convair XFY Pogo, nicknamed the Pogo . Both experimental programs proceeded to flight status and completed test flights 1954 1955. Similarly, the X 13 flew a series of test flights between 1955 and 1957. But due to much higher complexity, cost and low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another advantage, both to operators and to nearby residents, is the large reduction in ground noise level made possible by the utilization of the steep descent and climb out capability of the VTOL aircraft. The VTOL airplane has great potential value in its military applications too. The most obvious advantage is its utilization in delivering ground troops and supplies, the requirement being only that a clearing of sufficient size exist in a reasonably level region. Tactical close air support VTOL airplanes can operate in close proximity to zones of action out of these same clearings, thus reducing the time required to deliver ordnance on a target, or the number of airplanes required airborne on station. Destruction of or damage to airfield runways loses significance if the aircraft utilizing the field have a VTOL capability. Consistent with weight and size limitations, each VTOL airplane is capable of shipboard operations, without the requirement for arresting hooks, catapult fittings, and the usually associated structural beef up. By the same token, many ships, with the relatively simple addition of a landing area, are capable of operating VTOL airplanes without the requirement for heavy and complicated arresting
  • 3. Color Imagery In A Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro In A Red Dress 1946 , a short story by Alice Munro, uses the significance of color imagery throughout the story. The color red represents nonconformity, standing out or being unique This is because of the narrator s unwillingness to be a unique girl. However, the color blue represents conformity, being able to blend in with society, and the ability to be like everyone else due to the narrator s lack of courage to be unique and to be herself. Both of these colors point out different aspects of the narrator s inner self and show how much she desires to hide her unique redself and appear blue. Colorimagery is used throughout the short story, A Red Dress 1946 in order for the author to demonstrate the inner thoughts of the narrator. In the short story, A Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro, Color imagery is used for signifying a girls point of view of her world and her own self by using the color red which represents nonconformity. The narrator has only a slight interest in being red, but she really wants to be blue, just like everyone else. Munro writes, When I was asked a question in class, any simple little question at all...that I had blood on my skirt .(2) The narrator is just so nervous about being red she is thinking of bad things that can happen with the color red. She is thinking of all the bad times the color red could do a girl badly, just like a girls period could leak at any moment. In A Red Dress 1946 , a short story by Alice Munro, she uses Color Imagery to show the significance of the narrator s view of the color red and all the Evil about it. In a short story by Alice Munro, A Red Dress 1946 , Color Imagery is used to represent the inner feelings of the narrator and how she wants to be blue. The narrator s dream is to live a blue life, a life where she is just like everyone else. Munro writes, when I was unaware of the world s opinion. Now, grown wiser, I wished for dresses like those my friend Lonnie had, bought at Beale s store (1). Lonnie is able to buy things like her dresses from stores which just makes the narrator want to be blue. The narrator wants to be blue even more because of how Lonnie and many other girls can buy things but if she wants a nice dress she can t buy it she

  • 5. The Toronto Transit System And Municipal Transit Agency Over the past several years, Toronto has struggled to find new dedicated streams of revenue to fund its regional transit system, all while Metrolinx, the provincial transit agency is developing the province s Big Move plan in hopes of connecting the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area transportation system. The province stopped funding the TTC s operating funds in 1996 and since then, the City of Toronto has relied on a subsidy from the city and fares to balance this. Later in 2006, Metrolinx was created by the Province of Ontario as the first Regional Transportation Agency for the GTHA and in 2016, Move the GTHA reveals a $30 billion funding gap which begs the questions of who should fund the regional transit system and by what mechanisms? It is very hard for a city as large as Toronto to keep up with its funding for regional transit without much efforts from the provincial or federal government. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is falling behind on a massive deficit when funding its Operating Budget. Only two thirds of the TTC s Operating Budget are covered by fares. These fares generate about $1.1 billion of the TTC s $1.6 billion operating budget. The rest primarily comes from a city subsidy, which is $428 million, up from $411 million in 2013 according to Jennifer Palisoc (Palisoc, 2014). With the continuous struggle of efforts to get Toronto s transit system back up on its feet again, the Province of Ontario created Metrolinx; an organization

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones, Jones describes the Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I have ever encountered. The Plain Natives consisting primarily of Blackfoot, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the bison a sacred animal because it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good bison kill would weigh about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives could use the bladder and stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as cover for teepees and the various bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100 Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out hunting for bison. This shows how important the bison were for the natives. When a single herd of bison was sighted it was so important that every man in the tribe would leave their wives and children at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid 1800 s, the American frontiersmen were

  • 8. Essay on Spiral of Silence Public communication is very important when in a discussion with coworkers and such. The one weakness that some people run into is silence. The spiral of silence theory by Elisabeth Noelle Neumann explains why certain people fall under the pressure and seclude to silence. Silence may not always be a bad thing, but according to a study by Lucy J. MacGregor, the fact is that silence during a speechor conversation is absolutely bad. In every high school, there are the jocks, the band, the nerds, the people on drugs, the religious and so on and so forth. Some of these groups were known as the popular group and some were known as the creeps. These names that are given to the groups still happen in everyday life when you are older and this also affects whether or not the person will speak up about a certain topic. When certain groups have to keep secrets from other groups for safety reasons, this does not help the silence situation at all. The fact that groups are keeping secrets from others means that they do not trust anyone else which forces groups into silence and they cannot voice their opinion anymore. The Spiral of Silence has a key voice in the workplace, which involves the use of presentations. One thing affected by the listener not wanting to support the speaker is the fact of whether or not the listener is actually paying attention (Denham Vaughan 7). It has been said that listeners are more than likely to lose their attention when there is a break in the speech by the speaker. When this happens, the listener is more than likely going to jumble up sentences together and guess the wrong word to finish the current statement that the speaker broke the pause with. This happens because the train of thought is said to be interrupted and lose focus on the certain topic. Viewing the eyes and seeing the horizontal and vertical movement

School was not very difficult considering I was only in grade school. My greatest passion was dance. At this point in my life I had been dancing for six years. Dancing was something I took pride in. Getting the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people excited me. This love of dance started when I was three. My mother had brought me to the Ozark Dance Academy. My teacher Mrs. Julie had grabbed my hand, walked me to the middle of the floor, and whispered into my ear dance like you are the only one here. The music clicked on, heart pounding in my ears, I started to dance. I feel like everyone was slightly impressed. Moving to the music with all of this passion made me feel like I was dancing on air. Kurt Vonnegut was able to connect the dreadful history of our past with important current problems of our present. After a decade of rapid economic growth, in 1997 many South East Asian countries were subject to a catastrophic economic crisis. The problems endured involved both immediate crisis management in unstable financial markets and the medium term restructuring and repositioning of their economies in the face of intensified export competition. South Korea had a large current account deficit and the maintenance of pegged exchange rates encouraged external borrowing and led to excessive exposure to foreign exchange risk in both the financial and corporate sectors. Economists have advanced the impact of Mainland China on the real economy as a contributing factor to the crisis. China had begun to compete effectively with other Asian exporters particularly in the 1990s after the implementation of a number of export oriented reforms. The doctors also reported that arranging in home care and other community services was difficult because these avenues were best navigated by social workers (Adams et al., 2002). Placing social workers within the physician s office could be a simple way to address the holistic needs of the aging patients who are treated. Victoria s Perfect Body Ideal Body ideals have been a recurring yet varying phenomenon for centuries, with different eras and societies deeming different shapes and bodies to be ideal and beautiful. This has ultimately resulted in a contemporary society where girls believe they are flawed for not living up to a predetermined body standard and grow up constantly wanting to look like that girl on the front page of magazine covers. Throughout history, body shapes have ranged from curvy to thin, but it wasn t until the 1990 s when the perfect body reached an all time thin. Like the thigh gap phenomena, the latter is largely based on how your body is structured the only way you can achieve this gap is by having wide hips and outward angling bones (Stork, 2013). Although the new trend is, in my opinion, a little healthier as it promotes exercise as a way to achieve the perfect looking booty, young women are still using waist trainers in hopes that they will mould their waists into a slimmer figure. As for the women who want to achieve this body but, have naturally small breasts and butts, they often, resort to plastic surgery to achieve the society s perception of beauty. According to Long Island plastic surgeon Stephen J. Greenberg, Women are looking for larger, but more natural looking breasts as well as enhanced buttocks, rounder hips and slimmer waists as well as thighs. (Tunell, 2015) Not only is this new craze a bit extreme, it is also dangerous. How? Well, when you have a full box and you continually apply force to it (in hopes of making the box smaller), the force will eventually become too much for the box to handle and it will collapse. With this image in mind, that is almost exactly what the waist trainer does according to plastic surgeon Dr. David

Waltz s postulate focuses on the anarchic environment of the international system and grounds his analysis on the consequence of the anarchic structure in the international system, which ultimately dictates how states behave. In this chapter, Waltz contends that the balance of power theory is a unique concept in international politics. The balance of power concept is laid upon two prerequisites, that the international system is anarchic and that the international system is filled with units wanting to survive. This theory claims that the basis of the balance of power does not result from actor s interests but arises inevitably from the anarchic nature. With that being said, Waltz s realist account is essentially different from Morgenthau realism model in that he presents a more systemic theoretical foundation for realism, in where state actions or balance of power is dictated and predicted from the anarchic nature of the international system. On the other hand, Anarchy and the Struggle for Power in Tragedy of Great Power Politic, by John Mearsheimer possess several basic assumptions in common with Morgenthau s and Waltz s model of realism. • 51. To The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf The study is designed to understand the different social issues related to different characters in the novel To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. It focuses on the Victorian and Modern marriages and highlights how the female characters are different from one another. Similarly, there are a lot of religious doubt, degrading women, and an unclear vision in the novelby one of the characters. However, there are deaths in the novel too. Similarly, it will focus on the two central women in the story. Study wants to show that Virginia Woolf created two very different characters but with a very interesting and complex connection. The first one is Mrs. Ramsay, a woman still belonging to the Victorian age, the second, Lily Briscoe, here called a New woman . My intention is also to analyze the significance of Lily s painting and how it symbolizes and represents her coming to terms with her homosexuality, and simultaneously her feelings towards Mrs. Ramsay. To the Lighthouse depends on passing of time; it expands or contracts the sense of time very freely It is a book, with an ironical or wistful query and questions of life and reality. The people in Woolf s book seem to be looking through each other with some far question; and, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virginia Woolf born in 1882, late Victorian age but she grew in Modern Age, so there is a great impact of Modern age on her works. My term paper is about social issues related to some characters in the novel. To the lighthouse is about two generations, one is older and the other one is new. I will study the changes come in newer and today s generation. Modern novels are psychological; every writer has something in his/her mind while writing. To the lighthouse is an autobiographical novel, Virginia Woolf sister says about the novel that, Mrs. Ramsay is like their mother, her brother always wants to see the lighthouse and Mr. Ramsay is like their father (an authority in their

The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes. Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the company. Corporations are a different type of business. They are more complex to start because more paperwork is involved and the corporation generally has to be registered at the state level. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s personal income tax statements. The

  • 55. Renewable Energy Source Capable Of Solving The Current... For years, scientists have been pursuing the discovery of a beneficial alternative energy source capable of solving the current energy crisis. Some of the most popular forms are solar energy, wind energy, and nuclear energy. Although solar, wind, and nuclear energy have many benefits, they are vastly detrimental to our environment. Solar energyrequires a copious amount of space, wind energy is aesthetically disturbing and harmful to wildlife, and nuclear energy s working fluid is highly pollutant. In turn, scientists have recently discovered the vast potential of ocean energy. The United States of America needs to pursue the further development of ocean energy. First, the ocean furnishes high levels of energy availability. The ocean stands as the largest energy collector because of its massive size. According to Renewable EnergyWorld, the sea stands as the largest solar energy collector because almost three fourths of earth s surface is ocean (Ocean Energy: Renewable [1]). The Oceans are in one sense, according to the Environmental Encyclopedia a huge storage tank for solar energy ( Ocean Thermal [1]). Because the vast majority of earth is covered by the ocean, the ocean has more space to create energy than any other plant, panel, or mill. Ocean water is in surplus while land only covers approximately 25 30% of earth s surface. While open and unused land supplies diminish yearly, the ocean continues to occupy relatively the same amount of surface area. Second,
