Abortion Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Abortion" can be a challenging and sensitive task. The subject
evokes strong emotions and opinions from various perspectives, making it crucial for the writer
to navigate through diverse viewpoints with sensitivity and objectivity.
One of the primary challenges is maintaining a balanced tone throughout the essay. It is essential
to present the arguments and counterarguments with fairness and accuracy while respecting the
diversity of opinions on this complex issue. Striking a balance between emotional appeal and
logical reasoning is crucial to ensure that the essay is both compelling and well-reasoned.
Researching the topic thoroughly is another obstacle. Abortion encompasses a wide range of
ethical, legal, medical, and societal aspects. A comprehensive understanding of these dimensions
is essential to provide a nuanced and informed discussion. This requires delving into legal
frameworks, medical procedures, ethical theories, and sociocultural contexts related to abortion.
Moreover, addressing the ethical and moral considerations surrounding abortion demands careful
consideration. Writers often face the challenge of presenting their own views without imposing
personal beliefs, allowing readers to form their own conclusions based on the presented
information.
Handling potential emotional triggers is yet another difficulty. Abortion is a deeply personal and
often polarizing topic. Writers must be mindful of their language and tone to avoid alienating or
offending readers while still presenting a persuasive argument.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on abortion necessitates a delicate balance of empathy, research,
and effective communication. The writer must navigate through a myriad of viewpoints, present
accurate information, and engage the reader without causing unnecessary discomfort. It is an
intricate task that demands thoughtful consideration of the complexities surrounding the issue.

Petersel On Peds
Zach Petersel, in his essay, Here s Why Suspensions Won t Deter PED users Like
Maria Sharapova, claims that the risk and rewards of using performing enhancing
drugs (PEDs) is unbalanced and needs to change. He adopts a slight angry tone in
order to appeal that big name athletes caught using PEDs don t face major
consequences. He uses this tone to appeal to readers who might also want change in
this topic. This feature should be printed in The Shorthorn because it will prompt
students to look at this issue in a deeper sense and see exactly how important this
issue affects an individual and sport. In this essay, I will talk about how Petersel
talked about Sharapova use of PEDs, how Petersel responds to counterarguments, and
how athletes should be punished for using PEDs.... Show more content on

(2) A incremental change is very small when compared to a rapid exponential change.
He contends that athletes will continue to take PEDs until they are caught. That was
the case of Maria Sharapova. She began taking Meldonium, a PED, before it was
banned and continued to use it afterwards until she got caught for using it. Petersel
believes that the suspensions are lousy way to punish athletes taking dangerous
PEDs while they acknowledge the consequences. Throughout his piece, Petersel
uses many reasons to support his claim and evidences to support his reasons. In the
third paragraph, he uses logical appeals by informing that suspensions don t affect
the life of an athlete as it should for taking a PED. He includes that Sharapova
made about 30 million last year and she only lost some sponsors. She already has a
business called, Sugarpova, which sells candies and expects revenue of 20 million
by 2018. He includes visual pieces throughout his article to keep the reader engaged
in the writing. In this part Petersel included a picture of Sharapova holding a
Sugarpova candy. Furthermore, he discusses Sharapova case of using Meldonium. In
Comparing Islamic And Ancient China
Islamic and Ancient China art forms are very different, yet similar. Islamic art
focused on the depiction of patterns, such as geometric and Arabic calligraphy.
Instead of human like figures, because it is feared that the depiction of the human
form is idolatry and a sin against God. Ancient Chinese art focused on the depiction of
humans and nature in their artwork. Chinese artists did so to capture the relationship
between humans and nature. Islamic architecture featured domes, mosques, shrines,
minarets and columns. The furnishings of Islamic mosques and palaces reflect a love
of materials and rich decorative pattern. Islamic artists were very meticulous when it
came to the patterns and placement of their work. Muslim artisans used materials
Considerations For Effective Organizational Change
What Is Organizational Change?
Organizational change is the term used to describe the transformation process that a
company goes through in response to a strategic reorientation, restructure, change in
management, merger or acquisition or the development of new goals and objectives
for the company. The realignment of resources and the redeployment of capital can
bring many challenges during the transformation process and organizational change
management seeks to address this by adopting best practice standards to assist with
the integration of new company vision.
Organizational change is not just change for the sake of change itself. The major
precursor for organizational change is some form of exogenous force such as an
external ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If workers don t embrace or see the reason for change, resentment and resistance can
occur You have to emphasize the positive reason for the change and convey it to the
workers. This way, improve the chances of support.
For effective organizational change, you should create a transition management team.
You should also select a change leader from every department and conduct regular
meetings. This will comprise the transition team that can drive the change initiatives
and help facilitate and implement the initiatives throughout the various departments.
This also provides a support structure for the initiatives. Resources should be provided
to the transition management team.
Additional Considerations For Effective Organizational Structure:
Evaluation of the aesthetic appeal is essential for effective organizational change.
The plan should be clear defined goals and rationale and should be concise. Ensure
that the decision makers within the organization are onboard. Any change in the
policy affects the operation of the organization which needs broad approval at some
levels.
Ensure you adequately define the nature of the changes. This will help team members
and employees to interpret the core objectives.
You should measure whether the change has taken place or not. Often this process is
neglected but to ensure effective organizational change you need to have predefined
benchmarks to measure implementation progress.
Science In Stephen Gould s Mismeasure Of Man
Stephen Gould wrote the book Mismeasure of Man and did a great job giving his
opinion about eugenics and refuting other scientist beliefs on how to measure the
intelligence of a man or woman. Gould does not write a chapter on eugenics but he
does reference it a few times throughout his book and he does so to make a point that
he doesn t necessarily believe it was right. Eugenicsis a type of sciencethat studied
the ways to make the human population better and better, with the use of science
and heredity factors to try and increase the chance of certain traits to be passed
down to his/her future offspring. The good thing is that in today s society, we no
longer rely and use eugenics to improve the population. Gould wrote this book to
provide his opinions and ideas on measuring humans intelligence and to also tell
what errors he has discovered during his research. Gould also references certain
works by Charles Darwin, Paul Broca, and Francis Galton. In the case of Eugenics
and the science behind it, I am very glad we as a society no longer believe in it and
depend on it. Science is used in every aspect of life for new discoveries and life but
I do personally believe that in the case of Eugenics, that science was misused. In
the past, eugenics was used and many women was sterilized for not having high
enough IQ scores and considered to have a low intelligence against their will. I
don t think that an IQ test can test how smart a person can become or how smart
their future offspring will become. I do believe in genetics and heredity but we do
have the right in our own intelligence. Humans are made to go to school to learn
the basics of life and history and I don t believe there is a limit to how much a
person can learn. I have gone through all of high school, undergrad, and now going
for my masters and I of all people should know that every day we all learn new
things and our brain can constantly make new connections and become more
intelligent. It is up to each and every person as to when they want their intelligence
to stop. Now back to Gould s book, he offers many good arguments about
intelligence and how history has improved and ideas are always changing. In this
book, Gould discusses how early on, many
Non-Traditional Students Essay example
With today s changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for
people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two thirds of students entering
the college setting are classified non traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found
that there was an 11% increase of non traditional student enrollment from 1991 1998
displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased
according to Jacobson Harris (2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates

on the other hand may find it beneficial to be a part of peer counseling programs or
internships.
Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks
employment. However, when seeking advice and assistance on something as
important as a career, people should know the credentials of the counselor. Many
individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of code of ethics and ethical
guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is important that career
counseling practice should be regulated.
According to Porter, Gildon, Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors
is a serious problem in the state of California because no formal standards are set
for appropriate licensure except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of
standards and credentials causes many problems for those seeking advice and
assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the public is not protected
even if they take a case to court and the counselor is found guilty. What is to be
taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to
begin with. Lreh
How Does The Oven Affect The Rise Of A Cupcake
the purpose of this experiment was to see if the time spent in the oven affect the
rise of a cupcake. More importantly how much it affects the rise. Also I wanted to
see if I could find the the perfect amount of time to bake it for. I was able to find the
time where I thought the cupcakes tasted the best at the end. Also this experiment
was easy enough to conduct. I first made the batter which was from a box. I
preheated the oven and filled each cupcake tin with one tablespoon batter each. I
then put it in the oven for 10 minutes. When they were done I took them out and
measured their height I repeated this step twice more, each for 10 minutes. I did the
same procedure again for 15 minutes in the oven and again for 20. Making a total of 9
Native American Research Paper
There are many important points in this paper. First of all, the predisposition that the
new arrivers had towards Native American people, I believe that that selfish and
wrong way of thinking that they had was the source of the holocaust that followed.
Because, these new arrivers had the belief that everybody that thought in a way
different to theirs, was mistaken and that they have the right to change the others
wrong thinking, simply because they thought that the way they perceived things was
the correct one. Therefore they did not allow the Native American people to show
them or to share with them their beliefs, they simply imposed all their rules, beliefs,
values and way of thinking. The previous fact also reveals the feeling of superiority...

Another important point is the fact that uncountable children died in schools,
therefore, they should have realized that something was going wrongly. Apart from
the already mentioned, it is important, I think, to find a definition for the word
civilized because that concept is repeated all along this paper, and I personally
believe that a civilized person is somebody who knows how to behave in his own
community. Furthermore, it is highly important to say that one more time
stereotypes played a part in society, it also happens even nowadays in my country,
Chilean people believes that Mapuches are lazy, salvages, and indeed we are, we are
lazy for destroying our nature, and salvages for
Patriarchy And The Challenge Of Feminism Essay
Judith Bennett is a Medievalist Historian who has focused much of her research on
English/European women and feminist history (1 2). In her book History Matters:
Patriarchy and the Challenge of Feminism, she argues that feminism and history,
specifically women s, need to be more closely linked. This link, she argues, comes
from taking theories and methods from one field and applying them to the other in
order to create a more indepth analysis of both. Bennett states in her introduction that
this text ...builds steadily from problem to solution to elaboration, and though this
statement holds, due to the brevity of this book, many aspects of this text are not
well defined, explored, or analyzed (4 5).
Throughout this text, Bennett uses feminist language, and indeed the word feminism
without properly defining the term. It is true that this book is aimed at an audience
that is likely to known these terms. Yet, by not giving a definition Bennett opens the
floor for radically different interpretations based upon where the reader s definition
falls on the spectrum, from hating men and wanting female superiority to wanting
equality and justice for all regardless of sex, that defines the various schools of
feminism. Despite this lack of clarity, many of the arguments that Bennett makes are
still valid. Specifically, Bennett notes that the language of feminist and women s
history has changed from the biting and often uncomfortable rhetoric of 1970s
feminism to more neutral
Barrier Beaches of Long Island, NY Essay
Barrier Beaches of Long Island, NY There are many different types of coasts that
exist throughout the United States. The south shore of Long Island has a unique
types of coast known as a barrier beach. Barrier beaches are long narrow land forms
that are composed of sand and other lose sediments. These sediments are brought
together by the actions of waves, currents and storm surges. Barrier beaches are
subject to constant changes by the same forces. Sand is constantly eroded in one area
an deposited in another. Barrier coasts are important for a number of reasons; they
protect the mainland of Long Islandfrom the open ocean and flooding during storms,

Long Island is famous for its sandy ocean beaches. Between the barrier beach and the
main coast is the Great South Bay. The beaches and dunes have very different
characteristics. The sandy beach is the junction of land and ocean. The sandy
beach consists of two zones, the swash zone and the drift line. The swash zone is
the area of wet sand, caused by the incoming wave. The drift line is formed by the
dead seaweed and other aquatic plants. Behind the sandy beach is the primary
dune. The primary dune s main function is to absorb the force of the ocean and
protect the great south bay and the island s main coast. In some cases secondary
dunes form. These dunes are behind the primary dune and are therefor protected
from the ocean. This provides the stability necessary for plant growth. Many time
a maritime forests will form on secondary dunes. Barrier beaches are not static,
they are constantly being changed (Coastal Change ) by the forces that formed
them; waves and wind. One change effecting barrier beaches is they are moving
closer to the main coast. This movement is caused by the rise in sea level. As the
sea level rises waves crash higher and higher upon the beach, as they do this the
dunes are pushed back. There are also seasonal changes in the barrier beaches.
During stormy seasons sand is removed from the beach and deposited off shore on
the longshore bar. During calm season waves redeposit sand upon the beach and the
beach grows.
Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea Essay
Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea
To what purpose does Jean Anouilh alter the central conflicts and characters in his
retelling of Medea ? In the classic play, Medea escapes without punishment and we
are told as an audience it is not our place to question the motives and/or actions of the
gods. Within the framework of modern, psychologically rendered characters and in
the absence of supernatural meddling, Anouilh attempts not only to question the
motives but to posit answers to the open ended questions left by Euripides. The
dynamic between divine and human will is reshaped with this goal in mind. This
change makes a significant impact upon Medea s ability to rediscover and reconcile
her identity with her actions as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the characters, especially Jason and Medea, do not acknowledge divine forces
as potent elements shaping their actions, they are keenly aware of their recurring
roles throughout literary history. They force the reader to make a more substantial
connection or comparison with the previous work. One might try to recast the earlier
analogy, replacing the Greek gods with Anouilh. The characters are his tools, his
puppets. This, however, is too simplistic. Anouilh himself must acknowledge the
limits of the tale, not simply the sequence of events, but themes and ideas within it, if
he is to retell it. In this sense Anouilh is confined and he makes the reader aware of
this fact. Within these self imposed limits, though, Anouilh is free to revise, review,
elucidate, and articulate the ideas, actions, and opinions of each character.
And it is to this end that Jason is raised by Anouilh from the ranks of dramatic foil
to an emotional and psychological match for Medea. Jason is left spinning out of
control at the conclusion of the original play, wondering how this could have
happened and why. Medea escapes untouched and the Chorus is left to restore
order. Anouilh s Jason is faced with the murder of his children, fiancГ©, and future
father in law as well as Medea s suicide. Medea, consumed by the fires of her own
passion and madness, takes her own life. He is obviously devastated but able to

The Tragical History Of Romeo And Juliet
In Shakespeare s rendition of the poem, The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet
by Arthur Brooke, there lies an epic story filled with tragedy and romance. This
play introduces two characters who fall in love at first sight and even decide to be
married the next day. By today s standards, this may be seen as completely absurd and
impractical. The couple even commits suicide in an attempt to reunite with each
other. Even with the sacrifice made, there is no guarantee that their affection would
last if they had not been victims of circumstance. The supposed lovethat Romeo and
Juliet share is not real because they had a very brief amount of time to get to know
each other well, they are young and do not have enough experience in life, and their...

As it turns out, Romeo and Juliet also fall into that category. In the words of Lord
Capulet, But saying o er what I have said before. My child is yet a stranger in the
world. She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. (1.2.7 9) The reader can
deduct from this that Juliet is just thirteen years old. As it stands, Romeo s age is
not directly stated in the play, and it is arguable that he could be a variety of ages.
Nonetheless, he is young as well, relatively close in age to Juliet. Being that these
two are so young, they have not had as much experience as an adult has. Extreme
hardships, working to earn their keep, and sustaining their own household are things
that these two have not seen the likes of. Certainly, these experiences have a great
potential to change them and their actions. Their judgements and views on life may
be altered as a result of these. Lord Capulet even states that Juliet is a stranger in the
world , implying that she does not know much about how things work. In conclusion,
Romeo and Juliet are so young that their experiences are not significant enough for
them to decide that they should be married just

Americanism is what Americans believe in, their values. Due to the nature of
America s foundation defining a clear cut characteristic of an American and the
motivations behind his actions is difficult. Yet the uniqueness of identifying only
some factors of the incentive behind American expansionism and success is definition
of an American. In the 1800s Americans wished for westward expansion an idea of a
frontier. Expansion had not been a new idea, but continuing the pattern of American
history beginning when the first settlers arrived on shore. The drive for westward
expansion was influenced by Puritan utopianism, revolutionary republicanism, and

It was at first a means of survival, but then a way of life as good land was easily
obtained. The farmer thus became a Jack of all trades due to the fact that he could
live completely off his land and depend only on himself. He attained skills needed

though, religious indifference took hold of the colonies and the people became more
concerned with making money once they understood that crops could grow and the
colonists could become successful. The first Americans were all similar in rank no

When starting out on a career hunt one of the last thing you want to find out is

So far I am liking the idea more and more. My next concern is how does someone

It is clear that Orwell uses the technique of reasons to develop his theme that

to develop his theme of thoughts being controlled. With a tremulous murmur that

her face in her hands. It was apparent that she was uttering a prayer (Orwell 16).
Citizens are brainwashed and controlled to have deep feelings about Big Brother

because they see others doing this and follow the people around them, The horrible

Concept Analysis
Introduction
According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary (2003), self confidence is defined as,
confidence in oneself and in one s powers and abilities , and confidence is defined
in three ways. These three definitions are as follows: a feeling or belief that you
can do something well or succeed at something ; a feeling or belief that someone or
something is good or has the ability to succeed at something ; and the feeling of
being certain that something will happen or that something is true (Webster, 2003).
For the purpose of this concept analysis of self confidence, the definition of the

The Segregation and Assimilation Policies in Relation to...
2. Compare and contrast the segregation and assimilation policies in relation to the
impact they had on the Aboriginal family life.
Aboriginal family life has been disrupted and forcibly changed over the last two
hundred years, as a result of the many segregation and assimilation policies
introduced by Australian governments. Often a combination of the two was
employed. The policy of segregation has impacted upon Aboriginal family life, for
through this policy, Aboriginals were restricted and prohibited to practice their

The policy of segregation had an enormous impact on the lives of aborigines. Despite
being discriminated against, the aboriginal people were being deprived the right to
practice and maintain traditional aspects of their culture, thus their children were
being taught to reject their aboriginality. In turn the rapid decline in population meant
that many elders were dead and thus many rituals and traditions were lost . The loss
of elders and the prohibition of practicing rituals impacted on aboriginal family life,
as a result of being unable to show their children traditional dances, native language
and stories of the dreamtime, cultural knowledge was not sufficiently carried on or
passed down to the next generation therefore hindering Aboriginal traditional life and
depriving Aboriginal children of their indigenous identity.
The reserves also held repercussions for the structure and roles within the aboriginal
family. The role and status of men more than women was effected, thus many
Aboriginal men, especially unemployed, slipped into aimlessness . Traditionally the
male role within the family was that of hunter and gatherer. It was the husband, or
father s role to find and provide food for his family. As a result of Aboriginals being
considered inferior to whites, thus acquiring a lower rate of pay, many families
became dependent on food handouts provided by the missionaries and reserves, thus
the fathers role of gathering for his family was subsequently
Sport Management As A Field
Descriptive Dimensions
In order to fully understand sport management as a field, one needs to look only as
far back as the 1960s. While sport management was not defined until the mid 1980s,
the history that has shaped the look of sport management can be traced back to the
Zeitgeist era of active lifestyles. In the 1960s, there was a strong emphasis on
science and scientific methods, unsurpassed technological advances, and the
renaissance in higher education (Paton, 1987). In combination with the desire for a
more active lifestyle and an emphasis on science, the field of sport and physical
education was developed. Dr. Earle Ziegler in the mid to end of the 1960s advised
several students on analyzing administrative writing, research, and programs (Paton,
1987). They found that physical education needed a new approach to administration,
an approach grounded in administrative theory (Ziegler Spaeth, 1975).
It has been stated that the first academic program in sport administration was
established at Ohio University in 1966 (Mason, Higgins, Owens, 1981). However
there is evidence of a program at Florida Southern University between 1949 and
1959. The program was approved by the State Department of Education of Florida and
was called Baseball Business Administration (Isaacs, 1964). Sport Management as a
field of study includes recreation administration, dance, leisure, sport tourism,
sociology, communication, marketing, finance, and law (Pitts, 2001). Relying on
My Enthusiasm On Studying Psychiatric Disorders Essay
My enthusiasm on studying psychiatric disorders drives me to pursue the doctoral
program in XX school, and I devote to further the research on depression as my
future career. As one of the most significant public health issues, depression often co
occurs with other chronic diseases, including psychiatric disorders. Moreover, people
suffering from chronic diseases with comorbid depression are at a higher risk of
worse prognoses than those without comorbidity. Therefore, identification of
etiologic factors for depression could lead to early interventions to prevent depression
and associated negative health outcomes.
Like other chronic diseases, depression has a complex etiology. Taken individually,
etiologic factors may appear to be trivial, but each is crucial to understanding the
whole picture of depression. From my medical training in China to current my MPH
study, I have sought to put together the pieces of the etiologic puzzle of depression.
Although I have studied everything from social to psychopathological factors
contributing to the development of depression, I have recently realized that the
missing piece in my study is closer to the essence of human beings: genomics. Thus,
to further education, as well as to put together more pieces in the puzzle of depression
etiology, I feel that must add the understanding and application of psychiatric and
genetic epidemiology to my research toolkit.
During my undergraduate study of medicine, I wondered why, given that most

Recommendation Implementation: Recommendation Summary Given the strength
and rapid growth of online retailers coupled with the national brands attempting to
decrease their dependency on middlemen retailers, Dick s must consider a strategy
that ensures their continued relevance and dominance in their respective industry.
Attempting to go against Amazon or other large online only retailers would place
Dick s at a disadvantage given that their overhead costs will never be as low as the
companies that do not need to hold and operate prime retail real estate. For the
aforementioned reason, this report advises against committing excessive resources
towards the development of the e commerce platform, DicksSportingGoods.com.
Similarly, the focused expansion of private labels may not necessarily achieve long
term market relevance for Dick s in the sporting goods industry. Furthermore,
aggressive expansion within the private label sphere may alienate current key
partners, such as Nike and Under Armour, which would be detrimental to Dick s
revenue streams both in the short and long term. Instead, this report suggests that
Dick s continues to expand its presence as a platform provider.... Show more content

the development and marketing of this platform should not transform Dick s into a

Demographic Changes In The United States Essay
The informative synopsis of how the demographic changes are taking place in
states with the regard to the workforce, states and regions are benefiting from these
changes, areas which are declining and why, as well as, the projections of the birth
rates and aging in the states over the next twenty five years. The economic
implications of these changes have on our states. Then finally how this all is related
to Federalism. The demographic changes that are taken place in the northern and
midwest states regarding the workforce have started to see a declining rate as the
baby boomers in those regions are reaching retirement age. Since women joined the
workforce, they are waiting to have children or not as many children. The reason that
most women are waiting to have children is that of college or getting their careers
going. The northern and midwest areas have their younger workforce looking for
jobs in the southern regions like Texas and Florida where the weather is warmer all
year. The states and regions that are benefiting from the decline in the northern and
midwest are the southern states. These northern and midwest states have declined
because of the colder climate then the southern states offer. This is not something that
the northern and midwest regions can make better to attract younger working class....

College Sports Transition
With every beginning to an individual s sports career, there has to be an end. Most
player s careers end after their four years of playing a high school sport. Although
many high school players want the opportunity to play sports in college, most are
unaware of the increased workload required to play a collegesport.
When a high school player thinks about continuing their career to play college sports
they often imagine the transition into college as being uncomplicated. Once an
athlete begins their career into college they are shocked to find out the transition is
far more complicated than they anticipated. One reason why this transition into
college sports is more difficult is because of talent. For example, an athlete with a

An athlete must realize that he or she is expected to perform just as well in
academics as they do in athletics. Many athletes do not consider the struggle of
juggling a college sport and taking classes full time. Although it is important for the
athlete to do their best in sports, it is also important to keep a good GPA and focus
on school. Many coaches push this because without having a 2.3 GPA an athlete
cannot play. While the players are going from only playing the sport for a few
months out of the year to playing it year round, athletes struggle to find the time in
their schedules to balance academics and athletics. Another negative effect for an
athlete transitioning from high school to college is being away from home. This
effects the athlete tremendously because this is often the first time an athlete has to
experience what it is like to be away from their family. Because college sports
require more input from the athlete than it did in high school, the athlete has to spend
more time at college working to improve in their sport. Due to the extra work that
has to be put in to the sport, the athlete does not get to go home on the weekends
often. As a result, an athlete should consider the negative effects that the transition

Turquoise: a simple adjective describing something of a greenish blue pigment. The
absolutely normal color has much more meaning behind itself than what meets the

Symbolically, blue inhabits the peaceful and tranquil side to turquoise. Green, the

me, but as a blend of the two colors my image is represented justly. As blue and
green mix to form turquoise they balance each other out to display an exceptional
representation of myself. Blue: an adjective representative of something of a cool and
calming display. According to psychology, blue acts as the friendly and genuine color.
Blue describes my more reserved and peaceful half. Blue can also be advertised as
an authoritative color, but at the same time, honest and sincere. Much like myself, I
may have an authoritative opinion, but I always try to react truthful towards the
situation and sincere of my position. Contrary to the edgier side of blue, it can serve

by Jim Sciutto,2015 where President Barack Obama along with his allies are
precise to claim that the threats of having the contract blocked by Congress are way
more relative to the risks of attempting to make it work out. Similarly, west
demanding Iranians to stop enriching uranium to 20% levels etc means that the
dreamers approach towards the nuclear deal is ignoring common sense. The
idealists in this scenario need to understand that a security dilemma exists between
the US and Iran. Also, the US and Iran will never be able to trust one another
because of anarchy, uncertainty, and conflicting material and strategic interests etc.
which clearly proves my point that idealists are dreamers and what they dream and

Bring Your Own Device ( Byod )
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD)
As technology advances and portable devices such as laptops, tablets and
smartphones being developed, the bring your own device trend has been born.
BYOD refers to a movement that has encouraged companies to allow their
employees to bring their personal devices at work and be able to use them to access
the company network. These portable devices not only make work easier, but they
are also convenient as they allow employees to work from anywhere and not just
their company offices. Although there are benefits to this trend, with it come
disadvantages that are causing concerns and making some companies wonder if
allowing this policy is a good idea.

But the fact that employees are not solely restricted to using company provided
devices to access data like critical company assets, can prove to be a problem. This
is where BYOD seems unpleasant to some companies because of the major risks
associated with it, as the devices might be stolen and important company information
might end up in the wrong hands. According to the Mobile Consumerization Trends
and Perceptions Survey in 2012, depending on location and situation, some
companies that permit BYOD have experienced data and security breach which has
led to them taking some precaution measures and some completely forbid the use of it.
Hidden costs associated with supporting BYOD has proven to be an issue, reports
show that although most companies state that costs have reduced significantly due to
this trend, there are some that claim otherwise. Organizations that simply say BYOD
is about productivity and have completely ignored the cost structure are playing with
a blank check, says Aberdeen analyst Hyoun Park. In the same article the author
claims that, a typical mobile BYOD environment costs 33 percent more than a well
managed wireless placement where the company owns the devices. The author says

Options for the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder affecting the body s ability to take up
glucose into the tissues. There are two main classifications; Type 1 is known as
insulin dependent, meaning that the patient s body no longer produces insulin to help
in the uptake of glucose. Type 2 is known as non insulin dependent, these patients
usually have two problems; insulinresistance, the insulin they produce does not work
properly and ОІ cell impairment, their body does not produce enough insulin.2 In
2008 a study showed that of 24 million patients diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in
the United States, 40% of them were 65 years of age or older.1 Patients diagnosed
with diabetes have elevated HbA1C levels of 6.5% or higher. The American Diabetes
Association recommends a target of 7% for most patients3 with diabetes to be
considered controlled. Type 2 Diabetes patients usually begin with monotherapy oral
medication, such as Metformin along with diet and exercise to decrease blood
glucose levels and HbA1C levels. Unfortunately, monotherapy is not effective in
many patients and they soon add a second therapy. A sulfonylurea, such as Glyburide,
is a second line drug in the treatment of diabetes because it enhances insulin secretion
3 unlike metformin which increases insulin sensitivity. 3 A study published in The
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism compared the effects of metformin
monotherapy, glyburide monotherapy and glyburide metformin therapy in 486

Re:Fill Rate for 10 ounce bottles of Linatol
Introduction
Lorex Pharmaceuticals recently gained FDA approval to market and sell a new
product called Linatol. This memo will address the need to select a target amount
to which each 10 ounce bottle of Linatol will be filled. The analysis of several target
fill rates was conducted to determine the one that maximizes the contribution per
case, therefore generating the maximum revenue for Lorex Pharmaceuticals. This
ideal fill rate will allow more bottles to be sold at the full retail price of $186 and
limit the under filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For each target fill rate the proportion of bottles filled correctly had to be
determined. This calculation provides a breakdown between cases that can be sold
for the full amount of $186 and cases that are designated as seconds, which are sold
for 80% of the full price or $148.80. Revenue per case grows continuously as the
target fill rate increases. From the blending costs which include $67,662 of active
ingredient per 5000 liters, and blending labor of $432 per 5000 liter batch the cost per
ounce of medication is approximately $0.40. This provides input for the active
ingredient cost. Based on the labor cost of $8.50 per hour at 12 cases per hour, the
input for rework cost per case is approximately $0.70 per case. Contribution per case
is derived from the revenue minus the costs. The contribution per case is the
performance criteria that our decision is based upon. Results
A balance between revenue and cost is seen at a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces per
bottle. The revenue per case is greater when the bottles are filled to 10.5 ounces;
however the resulting increase in the active ingredient cost produces a lower
contribution per case. The recommendation is to use a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces
per bottle. Initially there will be an increased cost of active ingredients but in the long

Transportation of waste to landfills, processing waste through garbage disposals,
composting, and animal feed are the primary methods of food waste disposal in the
United States. Although these methods have their benefits, they also have
limitations and some negative effects on our environment. As the world population
continues to grow, it will likely cause more pressure on waste management.
Managing this waste is a constant concern to food service establishments. The cost
to travel to the landfill is steadily increasing since 2008 because of the increase in
food waste. With the disposal of waste, we have to consider the labor, storage
facilities, supplies like bags, equipment rental, haul charges, and food safety. For
instance, food waste processed by a garbage disposal requires the use of water and
energy. Composting requires the use of vehicles, farm equipment, land, and labor.
These are all costly endeavors that affect the environment but must be done in order
to process the massive amount of food waste that is produced in the US.
Even though there are compelling environmental and economic arguments, dining
facilities are still skeptical about changes to improve their sustainability. Foodservice
operations rely on a positive economic status; cost effective alternatives and strategies
must be considered. Despite these efforts to

significantly since the beginning of the jet era in the 1960s, and from 1970 to 2000
total energy intensity was reduced by more than 60%. Fuel burn is a key
determinant of aviation economics given that fuel costs account for up to 35% of
total aviation costs. The aviation industry has therefore focused on fuel efficiency
improvement through engine and aircraft innovation which has resulted in a
reduction in total energy intensity of more than 60% since 1970. There are a number
of evolutionary technologies that could help achieve further fuel efficiency
improvements in new aircraft over the next 20 years. Aviation engineers have been
working on silent aircraft and using 3D systems in aircraft to make precise aircraft

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s This Is What It Means For...
In the story This is What It Means to Say Phoenix Arizona by Sherman Alexie, the
main character Victor is a full blood Native American, whose father recently passed
away in Phoenix, Arizona. Victor must take the trip to collect his father s ashes,
however due to his current financial situation he is unable to take his journey. An old
friend of Victors, by the name of Thomas builds the fire, offers to help fund Victors
trip on the condition that he go with him. It is because of Thomas that Victor is able
to complete his journey. Thomas Builds the Fire s charactershows uncanny heroism,
faithfulness to his friend, and the courage to overcome obstacles.
Thomas Builds the Fire is character that has experiences many tragic outcomes in
his life. For example, he explains that his parents both died when he was young. My
father, he died on Okinawa in World War II, died fighting for this country, which had
tried to kill him for years. My mother, she died giving birth to me, died while I was
still inside her. She pushed me out into the world with her last breath (CITE). It is
because of this tragedy, that he has the courage to overcome obstacles. For example,
when Victor and Thomas were standing outside of the trailer that Victors dad passed
away in, Victor told Thomas that he did not have to go inside, Thomas simply
explained that he is going to need the help, .... he held his breath and followed Victor
into the trailer (CITE). In this moment Thomas did not have to go into the
The Revolution Of The Communist Party
When you are in a revolution as large as the Bolsheviks were in Russia, it can be
reasonably expected that everyone in their group is in on it. There are a myriad of
different opinions possible but if you were a member of the Communist party, you
would think you would be expected to commit to and follow communist beliefs. In
the article Paper Communists Gayle Lonergan, from the University of Oxford, paints
a picture of men who saw the communist party as a way out. She documents how
many men saw such benefits as preferential food rations and free health care (p.
139)(1) and wanted to have the opportunity to get out of the farm country. Lonergan
also argues the key issue of how much of the communist population was actually

It is clear Evaluation The dominant purpose of this article seems to be to say that
the Bolsheviks only managed to stay afloat as a movement because after they were
victorious in the early part of the civil war, peasants saw them as the attractive
option which to ride on. Leading to (for a short period of time) an incredibly large
influx of peasants. Lonergan spends the majority of the article walking on a
tightrope, saying that it was embarrassing for the Bolsheviks to have their ranks
filled with all of these inexperienced men looking to get out of work while at the
same time documenting the irony of the truth that the Bolsheviks based in Central
Russia did not have the manpower to convince the masses outside of Moscow and
Petrograd. They would not have been able to reach the further points of Russia and
Siberia because people were not necessarily interested in the Communist beliefs there
but they were interested at the opportunity of sitting in an office all day rather than
manual labour on a farm. It is clear that even though the Paper Communists had a
strong lacsidaisical attitude towards the movement they were a key part of the
advancement of the Bolshevik movement. Lonergan disagrees with both some
scholars that she references in the article as well as the traditional

Life Insurance Fraud In The United States
Throughout the semester, we have been studying the many elements of fraud and
how it is committed. One of the frauds that are becoming more common in modern
times is life insurance fraud. It takes a certain expertise to commit life insurance fraud
because sometimes it usually involves faking a death. Other times it can involve the
actual life insurance company and their premiums. However life insurance fraudis
being looked at, it is a fraud that people and companies are committing more and
taking a certain liking too. One of the main reasons for people committing life
insurance fraud is for the money. Life insurance policies can be as low as five
thousand dollars, or be as high one million dollars or more. To some people, those
life insurance policies amounts can change their lives. In order to collect and cash in
on those policies, someone ultimately has to lose their lives. Also for a life insurance

Panthera Leo Research Paper
Taxonomy
Introduction
The animal kingdom consists of about 800,000 known species (to include those that
have been proven to exist). All animals have multiple cells and therefore rely on the
cells of other living or dead organisms for their sustenance (growth and development).
Animals develop from small groups of unspecialized cells and the animals with
simple cells grow their missing body parts through regeneration. There are 36 phyla
in the kingdom Animalia, for instance, Porifera, Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda,
Echinodermata and Chordata among others (Dudley, 2002). Panthera leo
The African lion (Panthera leo), is a bold and admired species of the animal
kingdom which commands a lot of respect and fear in equal measure from human
beings and wild animals alike. It belongs to the phylum Chordata, class Mammalia,

Adult males weigh up to 200kg while an average females weighs 120kg. The
Panthera leo are polygamous and they breed once every year. Statistics show that
male lions are conspicuously large and they use this advantage to dominate the pride
of lions, which they have control over. Pride males form coalitions in order to
increase their chances of deposing an alpha male in another territory. Succession
battles are violent and bloody and may lead to serious injuries or death to the losers.
These hostile takeovers are precipitated by the need to pass individual genes to the
next generation of lions through the siring of cubs. As a result, the incumbent lion
often takes unorthodox precautions of eliminating the genes of the defeated lion
through the killing of the suckling cubs of their predecessors (Grinnel,
Supervisors
Supervisors are authoritative individuals who are in charge of the work execution
of other hierarchical individuals. Administrators have formal power to utilize
authoritative assets and to decide. In associations, there are normally three levels of
administration: top level, center level, and first level. These three primary levels of
administrators shape a progression, in which they are positioned all together of
significance. In many associations, the quantity of directors at every level is such
that the chain of command looks like a pyramid, with numerous all the more first

Center directors employment titles include: General administrator, Plant chief,
Regional supervisor, and Divisional director. Center level chiefs are in charge of
completing the objectives set by top administration. They do as such by setting
objectives for their areas of expertise and different specialty units. Center
administrators can spur and help first line chiefs to accomplish business targets.
Center directors might likewise impart upward, by offering proposals and input to top
supervisors. Since center chiefs are more included in the everyday workings of an
organization, they might give profitable data to top supervisors to enhance the
association s primary concern. Employments in center administration differ generally
as far as obligation and compensation. Contingent upon the measure of the
organization and the quantity of center level directors in the firm, center chiefs might
regulate just a little gathering of representatives, or they might oversee vast
gatherings, for example, a whole business area. Center administrators might be
representatives who were advanced from first level supervisor positions inside of the
association, or they might have been procured from outside the firm. Some center
directors might have desires to hold positions in top administration later

preschool children age 2 to 5. Primary caregivers and educational professionals
evaluate the frequency of 27 positive behaviors exhibited by the preschooler. The
primary purpose of the DECA is to identify and assess the strengths and
comparative weaknesses of a child s protective factors (initiative, self control, and
attachment). The initiative factor scale measures the child s ability to use
independent thought and action to meet his or his needs. Children who receive high
scores on the initiative score are often somewhat independent, active learners who
will start or organize activities with other children. They tend to be optimistic and
good problem solvers. The self control scale assesses a child s ability to experience
a range of feelings and express them using words and actions considered appropriate.

onslaught of Christian persecution has been ongoing for thousands of years. This
historical fiction novel follows the journey of three Jesuit priests from Portugal to
investigate the actions that led one of their own superiors to abandon his faith and
defaced the image of the church while also carrying out the covert Christian
missions in the country. However, when they land in Maco, Father Valignano

using various torture methods to apostatizing and killing them when they don t.
According to Endo, the act of apostatizing was to step on the fumi e, a bronze
portrait of Jesus or Mary mounted on a wooden frame. The Japanese Christians
would have to step on every New Year s in order to be freedom from the persecution.
This didn t dissuade the three priests who
Assess The Importance Of Education In The Italian
Renaissance
In the early years, the Italian Renaissance mainly focused education on ancient Greek
and Roman literature and studies of humanities such as grammar, rhetoric, history.
When compared to the loss of literature and cultural achievement during the Middle
Ages, not just the literature, but the historical context of Greek and Roman texts
spiked and interest within scholars of this time. Studies of the past were considered
very important, such that a Prince who cannot read the lessons of history is a
helpless prey of flattery and intrigue. (Doc. 1) Piccolomini stresses the importance
of education of the past and implies that people, or Princes in his case, will only be
subjected to failure if they don t learn from history. However, Piccolomini

The Social Welfare Policy And Social Programs Essay
Abstract In this paper we look at the different aspects of the Social Welfare
program, TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). TANF is the final
variation today of the many cash assistance programs that are available to children
and families. In this paper we also focus on who is eligible for TANF and where
the funds are going to. With a review of the literature it is shown that living off cash
assistance is not easy and how it affects the participant s life. There is also a look at
unintended consequences and why this program did not work well in practice with
suggestions for improvement.
Introduction Many Social Welfare policies and programs that go into effect seem
like a great idea, and have many good intentions until they go into practice. While
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families tries its best to lift those out of poverty, it
often does not. It is the final variation of temporary cash assistance programs that
exist today.
Literature Review In the book, Social Welfare Policy and Social Programs by
Elizabeth A. Segal, the author gives an introduction and brief history to Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). TANF was derived from many past public
assistance programs and was created from the Elizabethan Poor Laws (Segal, 2016
p.194).The first public assistance program was the first federal effort in 1920 to
help women and children in poverty with the Mothers Aid Law(Segal, 2016 p.195).
In this book we also learn how TANF recipients are

  • 2. Petersel On Peds Zach Petersel, in his essay, Here s Why Suspensions Won t Deter PED users Like Maria Sharapova, claims that the risk and rewards of using performing enhancing drugs (PEDs) is unbalanced and needs to change. He adopts a slight angry tone in order to appeal that big name athletes caught using PEDs don t face major consequences. He uses this tone to appeal to readers who might also want change in this topic. This feature should be printed in The Shorthorn because it will prompt students to look at this issue in a deeper sense and see exactly how important this issue affects an individual and sport. In this essay, I will talk about how Petersel talked about Sharapova use of PEDs, how Petersel responds to counterarguments, and how athletes should be punished for using PEDs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2) A incremental change is very small when compared to a rapid exponential change. He contends that athletes will continue to take PEDs until they are caught. That was the case of Maria Sharapova. She began taking Meldonium, a PED, before it was banned and continued to use it afterwards until she got caught for using it. Petersel believes that the suspensions are lousy way to punish athletes taking dangerous PEDs while they acknowledge the consequences. Throughout his piece, Petersel uses many reasons to support his claim and evidences to support his reasons. In the third paragraph, he uses logical appeals by informing that suspensions don t affect the life of an athlete as it should for taking a PED. He includes that Sharapova made about 30 million last year and she only lost some sponsors. She already has a business called, Sugarpova, which sells candies and expects revenue of 20 million by 2018. He includes visual pieces throughout his article to keep the reader engaged in the writing. In this part Petersel included a picture of Sharapova holding a Sugarpova candy. Furthermore, he discusses Sharapova case of using Meldonium. In
  • 3. Comparing Islamic And Ancient China Islamic and Ancient China art forms are very different, yet similar. Islamic art focused on the depiction of patterns, such as geometric and Arabic calligraphy. Instead of human like figures, because it is feared that the depiction of the human form is idolatry and a sin against God. Ancient Chinese art focused on the depiction of humans and nature in their artwork. Chinese artists did so to capture the relationship between humans and nature. Islamic architecture featured domes, mosques, shrines, minarets and columns. The furnishings of Islamic mosques and palaces reflect a love of materials and rich decorative pattern. Islamic artists were very meticulous when it came to the patterns and placement of their work. Muslim artisans used materials
  • 4. Considerations For Effective Organizational Change What Is Organizational Change? Organizational change is the term used to describe the transformation process that a company goes through in response to a strategic reorientation, restructure, change in management, merger or acquisition or the development of new goals and objectives for the company. The realignment of resources and the redeployment of capital can bring many challenges during the transformation process and organizational change management seeks to address this by adopting best practice standards to assist with the integration of new company vision. Organizational change is not just change for the sake of change itself. The major precursor for organizational change is some form of exogenous force such as an external ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If workers don t embrace or see the reason for change, resentment and resistance can occur You have to emphasize the positive reason for the change and convey it to the workers. This way, improve the chances of support. For effective organizational change, you should create a transition management team. You should also select a change leader from every department and conduct regular meetings. This will comprise the transition team that can drive the change initiatives and help facilitate and implement the initiatives throughout the various departments. This also provides a support structure for the initiatives. Resources should be provided to the transition management team. Additional Considerations For Effective Organizational Structure: Evaluation of the aesthetic appeal is essential for effective organizational change. The plan should be clear defined goals and rationale and should be concise. Ensure that the decision makers within the organization are onboard. Any change in the policy affects the operation of the organization which needs broad approval at some levels. Ensure you adequately define the nature of the changes. This will help team members and employees to interpret the core objectives. You should measure whether the change has taken place or not. Often this process is neglected but to ensure effective organizational change you need to have predefined benchmarks to measure implementation progress.
  • 5. Science In Stephen Gould s Mismeasure Of Man Stephen Gould wrote the book Mismeasure of Man and did a great job giving his opinion about eugenics and refuting other scientist beliefs on how to measure the intelligence of a man or woman. Gould does not write a chapter on eugenics but he does reference it a few times throughout his book and he does so to make a point that he doesn t necessarily believe it was right. Eugenicsis a type of sciencethat studied the ways to make the human population better and better, with the use of science and heredity factors to try and increase the chance of certain traits to be passed down to his/her future offspring. The good thing is that in today s society, we no longer rely and use eugenics to improve the population. Gould wrote this book to provide his opinions and ideas on measuring humans intelligence and to also tell what errors he has discovered during his research. Gould also references certain works by Charles Darwin, Paul Broca, and Francis Galton. In the case of Eugenics and the science behind it, I am very glad we as a society no longer believe in it and depend on it. Science is used in every aspect of life for new discoveries and life but I do personally believe that in the case of Eugenics, that science was misused. In the past, eugenics was used and many women was sterilized for not having high enough IQ scores and considered to have a low intelligence against their will. I don t think that an IQ test can test how smart a person can become or how smart their future offspring will become. I do believe in genetics and heredity but we do have the right in our own intelligence. Humans are made to go to school to learn the basics of life and history and I don t believe there is a limit to how much a person can learn. I have gone through all of high school, undergrad, and now going for my masters and I of all people should know that every day we all learn new things and our brain can constantly make new connections and become more intelligent. It is up to each and every person as to when they want their intelligence to stop. Now back to Gould s book, he offers many good arguments about intelligence and how history has improved and ideas are always changing. In this book, Gould discusses how early on, many
  • 6. Non-Traditional Students Essay example With today s changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two thirds of students entering the college setting are classified non traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non traditional student enrollment from 1991 1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased according to Jacobson Harris (2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates consist of the non traditional studentsitting the reasons for reentering the college setting to be economic. The traditional student on the other hand may find it beneficial to be a part of peer counseling programs or internships. Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks employment. However, when seeking advice and assistance on something as important as a career, people should know the credentials of the counselor. Many individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of code of ethics and ethical guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is important that career counseling practice should be regulated. According to Porter, Gildon, Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors is a serious problem in the state of California because no formal standards are set for appropriate licensure except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the public is not protected even if they take a case to court and the counselor is found guilty. What is to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with. Lreh
  • 7. How Does The Oven Affect The Rise Of A Cupcake the purpose of this experiment was to see if the time spent in the oven affect the rise of a cupcake. More importantly how much it affects the rise. Also I wanted to see if I could find the the perfect amount of time to bake it for. I was able to find the time where I thought the cupcakes tasted the best at the end. Also this experiment was easy enough to conduct. I first made the batter which was from a box. I preheated the oven and filled each cupcake tin with one tablespoon batter each. I then put it in the oven for 10 minutes. When they were done I took them out and measured their height I repeated this step twice more, each for 10 minutes. I did the same procedure again for 15 minutes in the oven and again for 20. • 8. Native American Research Paper There are many important points in this paper. First of all, the predisposition that the new arrivers had towards Native American people, I believe that that selfish and wrong way of thinking that they had was the source of the holocaust that followed. Because, these new arrivers had the belief that everybody that thought in a way different to theirs, was mistaken and that they have the right to change the others wrong thinking, simply because they thought that the way they perceived things was the correct one. Therefore they did not allow the Native American people to show them or to share with them their beliefs, they simply imposed all their rules, beliefs, values and way of thinking. The previous fact also reveals the feeling of superiority... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another important point is the fact that uncountable children died in schools, therefore, they should have realized that something was going wrongly. Apart from the already mentioned, it is important, I think, to find a definition for the word civilized because that concept is repeated all along this paper, and I personally believe that a civilized person is somebody who knows how to behave in his own community. Furthermore, it is highly important to say that one more time stereotypes played a part in society, it also happens even nowadays in my country, Chilean people believes that Mapuches are lazy, salvages, and indeed we are, we are lazy for destroying our nature, and salvages for
  • 9. Patriarchy And The Challenge Of Feminism Essay Judith Bennett is a Medievalist Historian who has focused much of her research on English/European women and feminist history (1 2). In her book History Matters: Patriarchy and the Challenge of Feminism, she argues that feminism and history, specifically women s, need to be more closely linked. This link, she argues, comes from taking theories and methods from one field and applying them to the other in order to create a more indepth analysis of both. Bennett states in her introduction that this text ...builds steadily from problem to solution to elaboration, and though this statement holds, due to the brevity of this book, many aspects of this text are not well defined, explored, or analyzed (4 5). Throughout this text, Bennett uses feminist language, and indeed the word feminism without properly defining the term. It is true that this book is aimed at an audience that is likely to known these terms. Yet, by not giving a definition Bennett opens the floor for radically different interpretations based upon where the reader s definition falls on the spectrum, from hating men and wanting female superiority to wanting equality and justice for all regardless of sex, that defines the various schools of feminism. Despite this lack of clarity, many of the arguments that Bennett makes are still valid. Specifically, Bennett notes that the language of feminist and women s history has changed from the biting and often uncomfortable rhetoric of 1970s feminism to more neutral
  • 10. Barrier Beaches of Long Island, NY Essay Barrier Beaches of Long Island, NY There are many different types of coasts that exist throughout the United States. The south shore of Long Island has a unique types of coast known as a barrier beach. Barrier beaches are long narrow land forms that are composed of sand and other lose sediments. These sediments are brought together by the actions of waves, currents and storm surges. Barrier beaches are subject to constant changes by the same forces. Sand is constantly eroded in one area an deposited in another. Barrier coasts are important for a number of reasons; they protect the mainland of Long Islandfrom the open ocean and flooding during storms, for recreational use and the unique ecosystems which exist on barrier... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long Island is famous for its sandy ocean beaches. Between the barrier beach and the main coast is the Great South Bay. The beaches and dunes have very different characteristics. The sandy beach is the junction of land and ocean. The sandy beach consists of two zones, the swash zone and the drift line. The swash zone is the area of wet sand, caused by the incoming wave. The drift line is formed by the dead seaweed and other aquatic plants. Behind the sandy beach is the primary dune. The primary dune s main function is to absorb the force of the ocean and protect the great south bay and the island s main coast. In some cases secondary dunes form. These dunes are behind the primary dune and are therefor protected from the ocean. This provides the stability necessary for plant growth. Many time a maritime forests will form on secondary dunes. Barrier beaches are not static, they are constantly being changed (Coastal Change ) by the forces that formed them; waves and wind. One change effecting barrier beaches is they are moving closer to the main coast. This movement is caused by the rise in sea level. As the sea level rises waves crash higher and higher upon the beach, as they do this the dunes are pushed back. There are also seasonal changes in the barrier beaches. During stormy seasons sand is removed from the beach and deposited off shore on the longshore bar. During calm season waves redeposit sand upon the beach and the beach grows.
  • 11. Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea Essay Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea To what purpose does Jean Anouilh alter the central conflicts and characters in his retelling of Medea ? In the classic play, Medea escapes without punishment and we are told as an audience it is not our place to question the motives and/or actions of the gods. Within the framework of modern, psychologically rendered characters and in the absence of supernatural meddling, Anouilh attempts not only to question the motives but to posit answers to the open ended questions left by Euripides. The dynamic between divine and human will is reshaped with this goal in mind. This change makes a significant impact upon Medea s ability to rediscover and reconcile her identity with her actions as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the characters, especially Jason and Medea, do not acknowledge divine forces as potent elements shaping their actions, they are keenly aware of their recurring roles throughout literary history. They force the reader to make a more substantial connection or comparison with the previous work. One might try to recast the earlier analogy, replacing the Greek gods with Anouilh. The characters are his tools, his puppets. This, however, is too simplistic. Anouilh himself must acknowledge the limits of the tale, not simply the sequence of events, but themes and ideas within it, if he is to retell it. In this sense Anouilh is confined and he makes the reader aware of this fact. Within these self imposed limits, though, Anouilh is free to revise, review, elucidate, and articulate the ideas, actions, and opinions of each character. And it is to this end that Jason is raised by Anouilh from the ranks of dramatic foil to an emotional and psychological match for Medea. Jason is left spinning out of control at the conclusion of the original play, wondering how this could have happened and why. Medea escapes untouched and the Chorus is left to restore order. Anouilh s Jason is faced with the murder of his children, fiancГ©, and future father in law as well as Medea s suicide. Medea, consumed by the fires of her own passion and madness, takes her own life. He is obviously devastated but able to respond
  • 12. The Tragical History Of Romeo And Juliet In Shakespeare s rendition of the poem, The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke, there lies an epic story filled with tragedy and romance. This play introduces two characters who fall in love at first sight and even decide to be married the next day. By today s standards, this may be seen as completely absurd and impractical. The couple even commits suicide in an attempt to reunite with each other. Even with the sacrifice made, there is no guarantee that their affection would last if they had not been victims of circumstance. The supposed lovethat Romeo and Juliet share is not real because they had a very brief amount of time to get to know each other well, they are young and do not have enough experience in life, and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it turns out, Romeo and Juliet also fall into that category. In the words of Lord Capulet, But saying o er what I have said before. My child is yet a stranger in the world. She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. (1.2.7 9) The reader can deduct from this that Juliet is just thirteen years old. As it stands, Romeo s age is not directly stated in the play, and it is arguable that he could be a variety of ages. Nonetheless, he is young as well, relatively close in age to Juliet. Being that these two are so young, they have not had as much experience as an adult has. Extreme hardships, working to earn their keep, and sustaining their own household are things that these two have not seen the likes of. Certainly, these experiences have a great potential to change them and their actions. Their judgements and views on life may be altered as a result of these. Lord Capulet even states that Juliet is a stranger in the world , implying that she does not know much about how things work. In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet are so young that their experiences are not significant enough for them to decide that they should be married just

The loss of elders and the prohibition of practicing rituals impacted on aboriginal family life, as a result of being unable to show their children traditional dances, native language and stories of the dreamtime, cultural knowledge was not sufficiently carried on or passed down to the next generation therefore hindering Aboriginal traditional life and depriving Aboriginal children of their indigenous identity. • 21. Sport Management As A Field Descriptive Dimensions In order to fully understand sport management as a field, one needs to look only as far back as the 1960s. While sport management was not defined until the mid 1980s, the history that has shaped the look of sport management can be traced back to the Zeitgeist era of active lifestyles. In the 1960s, there was a strong emphasis on science and scientific methods, unsurpassed technological advances, and the renaissance in higher education (Paton, 1987). In combination with the desire for a more active lifestyle and an emphasis on science, the field of sport and physical education was developed. Dr. Earle Ziegler in the mid to end of the 1960s advised several students on analyzing administrative writing, research, and programs (Paton, 1987). They found that physical education needed a new approach to administration, an approach grounded in administrative theory (Ziegler Spaeth, 1975). It has been stated that the first academic program in sport administration was established at Ohio University in 1966 (Mason, Higgins, Owens, 1981). However there is evidence of a program at Florida Southern University between 1949 and 1959. The program was approved by the State Department of Education of Florida and was called Baseball Business Administration (Isaacs, 1964). As one of the most significant public health issues, depression often co occurs with other chronic diseases, including psychiatric disorders. Moreover, people suffering from chronic diseases with comorbid depression are at a higher risk of worse prognoses than those without comorbidity. Therefore, identification of etiologic factors for depression could lead to early interventions to prevent depression and associated negative health outcomes. Like other chronic diseases, depression has a complex etiology. Taken individually, etiologic factors may appear to be trivial, but each is crucial to understanding the whole picture of depression. From my medical training in China to current my MPH study, I have sought to put together the pieces of the etiologic puzzle of depression. Although I have studied everything from social to psychopathological factors contributing to the development of depression, I have recently realized that the missing piece in my study is closer to the essence of human beings: genomics. Revenue per case grows continuously as the target fill rate increases. From the blending costs which include $67,662 of active ingredient per 5000 liters, and blending labor of $432 per 5000 liter batch the cost per ounce of medication is approximately $0.40. This provides input for the active ingredient cost. Based on the labor cost of $8.50 per hour at 12 cases per hour, the input for rework cost per case is approximately $0.70 per case. The revenue per case is greater when the bottles are filled to 10.5 ounces; however the resulting increase in the active ingredient cost produces a lower contribution per case. The recommendation is to use a target fill rate of 10.4 ounces per bottle. Initially there will be an increased cost of active ingredients but in the long

Transportation of waste to landfills, processing waste through garbage disposals, composting, and animal feed are the primary methods of food waste disposal in the United States. Although these methods have their benefits, they also have limitations and some negative effects on our environment. As the world population continues to grow, it will likely cause more pressure on waste management. Managing this waste is a constant concern to food service establishments. The cost to travel to the landfill is steadily increasing since 2008 because of the increase in food waste. With the disposal of waste, we have to consider the labor, storage facilities, supplies like bags, equipment rental, haul charges, and food safety. For instance, food waste processed by a garbage disposal requires the use of water and energy. Composting requires the use of vehicles, farm equipment, land, and labor. These are all costly endeavors that affect the environment but must be done in order to process the massive amount of food waste that is produced in the US. Even though there are compelling environmental and economic arguments, dining facilities are still skeptical about changes to improve their sustainability. Foodservice operations rely on a positive economic status; cost effective alternatives and strategies must be considered. Despite these efforts to

Lonergan spends the majority of the article walking on a tightrope, saying that it was embarrassing for the Bolsheviks to have their ranks filled with all of these inexperienced men looking to get out of work while at the same time documenting the irony of the truth that the Bolsheviks based in Central Russia did not have the manpower to convince the masses outside of Moscow and Petrograd. They would not have been able to reach the further points of Russia and Siberia because people were not necessarily interested in the Communist beliefs there but they were interested at the opportunity of sitting in an office all day rather than manual labour on a farm.
