While slow juicers can be used to make juice out of almost any fruit or vegetable, they are
considered particularly well for juicing leafy green vegetables such as spinach, parsley, kale and

Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls, Canada
Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been
interesting and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for
years. Why did they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and
some did not. People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come
out being rich, they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara
Falls or they perish to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged,
thousands. I love to watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have
gone over the Falls and survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and
is on the border of America and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017,
this means that they are in a transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are
a great source of electricity for Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has
achieved 77% of the population to be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and
tertiary sectors of the economy, which is what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara
Falls have three different waterfalls and each is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall,
American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall flows into the Niagara River filling the river with
150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on
the Canadian border and the American border by Goat Island. The Horseshoe Fall has nine
times more water than the American Falls and makes up 90% of Niagara River. It stands at 167
feet tall and is 2, 700 feet wide in a horseshoe shape. The American Fall and is located in America
and is in the state of New York. This Fall is 110 feet tall and 950 feet in width. This Fall shares its
location with The Bridal Veil also in the state of New York. The Bridal Veil is 181 feet from land
to top and 56 feet wide. In 1678 the first sighting of the Falls was by Father Louis Hennepin, he
was sent on a French expedition. Hennepin published a book called A

Notes On Loans And Loan
Loans Explained
Whether you are buying your first home or adding another investment property to your portfolio,
deciding on which loan is a decision that could cost or save tens of thousands of dollars from your
mortgage over the life of your loan.
The various loans available in the market can be broadly classified into the following categories:
Standard Variable Rate loans are the most common loans provided by lenders. As the name implies,
the interest rate charged can vary and is typically in line with the announcement of the cash rate by
the Reserve Bank of Australia every 1st Tuesday of each month. Such loans are normally provided
with most of the common features, such as offset account, extra repayment, split account and redraw
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Look out for hefty exit fees and associated costs, and be aware that fixed rates can be less flexible
in allowing you the choice of making extra, or more frequent, repayments.
Lines of Credit are similar to using a credit card with a credit limit. That limit is determined by the
value of the properties that are used as security for the loan, as well as by the client s ability to repay
the loan. Given that it is like a credit card, borrowers can use the amount available as they wish;
it is wise that only borrowers who are disciplined spenders choose such a loan. Most investors
will set up a line of credit loan to allow them access to immediate money for any unexpected
maintenance or repairs to the property. It also allows them to use that money as a deposit for any
properties that they would like to purchase.
Introductory/Honeymoon rate loans are typically standard variable rate loans. However, the
difference is that during the honeymoon or introductory period (lasting up to three years), the
interest rate charged will be lower than the rate for standard variable rate loans. This lower rate
will revert to the standard variable rate interest once the honeymoon period is over.
Construction loans are used for the purchase of vacant land and subsequent property construction.
During the construction period, borrowers

Physical Health Problems
The physical health problems caused by the computers for children
Introduction
The invention of the electronic tools e.g. computers make people lead an efficient and convenient
life. The efficiency, convenience and practicability of the electronic tools e.g. computers attract
both adults and children, and make them use these tools in their daily life (ThomГ©e, 2015). As
has been seen, the use of computers and in adults work is becoming more frequent and majority
of children use these tools in their daily life as well. However, the long time use of computers may
caused some problems, and one of the problems is the physical health problem. When using a
computer, no matter a laptop or a desktop, the user do not need to move. These behavior would
normally be defined as sedentary behavior, which may make the user to do less physical exercise, fit
less physically and suffer more risk of health problems. The problem may be solved by three
solutions, the first seems to make children use computer in a right posture, the second may be some
physical exercises and another solution seems to decrease children s time spent on computers.
Physical health problem caused by computers
According to Kimmerly (2009), over 90% of children aged 3 18 in the US used computers, and
with children aged, more children started to use computer related activities. However, the long
time of uses of these electronic tools may lead to physical health problems to children. For example

Education. Why is it such an easy word to understand but such a tedious task to accomplish? We
come from a society that hands out education easily, however that education comes with a price.
Jean Anyon explains this process through her research in From Social Class and the Hidden
Curriculum of Work. Anyon dissects the socio economic class that determines the types of
instruction students receive. Through her research one can compare her findings to Mike Rose s
narrative, I Just Wanna Be Average, to be true and insightful. Rose speaks of his high school life
as an underachiever as well as his ability to break free from the mold that he was once placed in.
Comprehending both Anyon and Rose, I, myself, have come face to face with the... Show more

MacFarland demanded respect and it was given as Rose writes, Though a lot of guys groused in
the schoolyard, it just seemed that giving trouble to this particular teacher was a silly thing to
do... it came to this: the troublemaker would look foolish rather than daring (165). Rose also
explained that he wasn t disciplined properly in the vocational program, whereas MacFarland
prepped his students to focus on college to the point of helping them with their entrance
paperwork. This is another example how the executive elite class teachers inspire their students
to go beyond their limitations. As limits go, I realized they existed in 1984 when I had to suffer
through Sister Barbara s 8th grade English Class at St. Stephens. Our class of 64 was divided
into two groups, the working class and the executive elite. There was nothing in between. One
either had it or didn t. I obviously didn t have it. The executive elite class had options to work in
teams and come up with brilliant stories to read to the class. In the end, the group with the best
writings received candy treats as prizes. Candy treats still rings in my ear and that is where it
stayed. Our sad working class group was uninspiring and restricted to working alone at our desk
with no treats in sight. Sister Barbara thought it would be a good idea for us working class students

Wind Chill
Wind chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed sin due to the
flow of cold air. Wind chill temperatures are always lower than air temperature. The human body
loses heat through convection, evaporation, conduction and radiation. The rate of heat loss by a
surface through convection depends on the windspeed above that surface. As a surface heats the
air around it, an insulating boundary layer of warm air forms agains the surface. Moving air
disrupts the boundary layer, allowing for new, cooler air to replace the warm air against the
surface. The faster the wind speed, the more readily the surface cools. The speed of cooling has
different effect on inanimate objects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although high winds can make those of us with a pulse feel more miserable than normal, they don t
have the same effect on inanimate objects. Lower wind chills mean that inanimate object to the
temperature more quickly, but even high winds can t force the object s temperature below the air
temperture. That means that even though your skin might think it s 28 degrees, your water pipes
will still be balmy 40 degress. Wind Chill = 35.74 + 0.6215T 35.75(V^0.16) + 0.4275T(V^0.16) T
is the air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and V is the wind speed in miles per hour. Basically
the wind chil factor you hear reported assumes that your exposed face is roughly five feet off th
eground, it s night, and you re walking directly into the wind in an open field at a clip of about 3
mph. Remember, the basic concept behind wind chill is that stronger winds will cause exposed
skin to cool more quickly. The faster skin cools, the faster frostbite can set it. As wind chills drop
south of 50 or so, the onset of frostbite can take as little as five minutes, so it s worth keeping an
eye on the wind chill even if the notion of your skin feeling like a certain temperature may be a bit
misleading. Space blankets help the athletes regulate their body temperatures which tend to drop
drastically once they stop running. These sheets aren t made of the typical

Predator Prey Lab Report Essay
PREDATOR PREY RELATIONS LAB Background Research: Predators and prey are organisms
that interrelate, and they can influence on another s success in reproduction. Predators are
organisms that consume other organisms their prey. These two organisms evolve together. They
live in an environment where they must develop certain adaptations to survive. When an
adaptation is developed, it gives an organism certain physical characteristics that create an
advantage for survival and can come to dominate in a population. An adaptation aids survival by
either decreasing a prey s chance of being eaten, or by increasing a predator s chance of obtaining
food to survive and reproduce. Predators must fight for food. They face density independent... Show

The predators may, however, dash in and pick up any prey being pursued by another predator.
Do not hesitate to intrude, any hungry natural predator would not. Hunting time will be 5
minutes. When the teacher or the wildfire comes around and touches any of the students, they
must step out of the playing area for fifteen seconds. When told to stop, each student will tally up
his kills . If a predator is in the process of capturing a prey when told to stop, he must drop it. 6.
Repeat this process for each generation and make the proper adjustments required for each. 7.
At the end of the lab, share your data with the class and add up the number of prey killed.
Observations: In certain parts of the field, the grass was very tall and the prey that were in that
area were very difficult to find. Because of this many predators ignored the grassy areas which
caused a lot of competition for prey in the other areas of the field. Certain prey such as the corn
was easily concealed in the grass because of its small size. However, in the dirt area, the color of
the corn really made it stand out. In the dirt area of the field, the pinto beans were concealed
because its camouflage characteristics allowed it blended in with the dirt, but it stuck out in the
grass. The black beans were small black so it was concealed it both the grass and the dirt. The lima

NAPA Abandonment
Introduction
This report is addressing the abandonment issue of special order parts at NAPA Auto Parts of
Lander, Wyoming. This report identifies the need to resolve the issue of customers not coming
in to pick up the parts that were ordered for them. My report explains and describes all of the
details that came out of my research. I conducted a survey to determine if this was really a
problem that needed to be resolved. I took a record of how many parts were special ordered and
how many of those parts did not get picked up over a week. Lastly, I interviewed numerous
employees including: Mark Lewis (counterman), Korey Stahl (freight), Randy Hitshew
(counterman), and Kolter Rhoads (inventory/returns) to gain an understanding of the problem ...

The problem is occurring because customers end up not needing the parts that they ordered.
Another reason the problem may be occurring is because the customers simply forget that they
ordered a part. The abandonment of special orders have two main effects on the store, including:
unhappy employees and profit loss. When special orders are abandoned, the countermen get
lectured about how they need to pay better attention to what the customer wants. When the
countermen get lectured, they feel like they aren t doing their job correctly; however, they are just
obeying the customers wishes. Profit loss is perhaps one of the biggest detrimental effects that the
issue causes. When a customer neglects to pick up the part they order, it sits on the return shelf
until the classification return is process. The store must pay a 15% restocking fee when the parts
are sent back to the distribution center which results in a massive loss of profit over

American Education Reform
Throughout history, United States of America has been one of the most vigorous economies in the
world. With the most advanced military and serves as a beacon of hope and peace. It is obvious
that one would expect United States of America to be at the top of the lists when it comes to
education but unfortunately, that is not true. Day by day, our economy is becoming more and more
depended on technical notions which leaves us behind in math and science in the world. Our
government spends about 10,000 dollars every year on each student in the public educationsystem
(Lessons in Education). The solution to our failing schoolsystem is not to spend more money, but to
spend the money wisely. Not surprisingly, students with high performing teachers develop three
times better than students with poor performing teachers. Many agree... Show more content on

If the United States began to reform the teacher tenure, increase the number of charter schools, and
promote better parenting and family values, our education system can be fixed. The success of
American Students lies in the hands of teachers. Since, this is such a great responsibility, we have
to make sure that we are employing the right teacher for not only the students growth but also our
nation s growth. Hard working teachers should be appreciated and celebrated and neglectful
teachers should be fired. Unfortunately, the firing of teachers is not possible. In most states, there
is no legitimate evaluation process to be met for the teaching position and after a few years, the
teaching jobs becomes permanent. The most important step in reforming tenure is to have an
effective and an accurate evaluation process. The No Child Left

Essay about The Harmful Effects of Second Hand Smoke
The Harmful Effects of Second Hand Smoke
An Australian courtroom, November 2002, has banned a mother of a ten year old boy from
smoking in her household (Watts). This is because of the numerous harmful effects that go along
with second hand smoke. The court was protecting the child from these dangers; the mother and
grandfather both admitted to smoking approximately 40 cigarettes everyday (Watts). The ruling
was done by the anti smoking lobby, and was a first for this type of case. The father of the boy
brought this case to court not only because of his concerns for his son, but also because of his son
s complaints about the vast amount of smoke which existed in his household. The boy also stated
that he dreaded going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children exposed to second hand smoke have a higher risk of developing diseases such as
asthma, bronchitis, ear infections, and allergies. For women, second hand smoke increases their
risk of heart attacks (Page). Many say that second hand smoke is more harmful than first hand
smoke. This is because only 15% of smoke is inhaled by smokers; the other 85% is in the air for
nonsmokers to inhale, whether they want to or not (Page). The dangers that result from second
hand smoke include: cancer, asthma, lung infections, emphysema, heart disease, pneumonia, ear
infections, strokes, sinus infections, nose ear and throat discomfort, nausea, headaches and
dizziness. Twenty percent of the population is at risk for obtaining lung disease due to second
hand smoke, and for those who live with a smoker, there is a thirty percent increase of getting lung
cancer or heart attacks (Page). Nonsmokers can even have carcinogens found in their blood. The
bottom line remains: when somebody smokes, everyone around is effected.
. There are two types of second hand smoke, both which cause dangers for those around them.
These types are mainstream smoke and sidestream smoke (Page). Mainstream smoke refers to the
smoke inhaled and exhaled by the smoker. This is most likely the most common type that people
are exposed to. The other type, sidestream smoke, is the smoke that comes from a cigarette or cigar
burning from an ashtray. This

The Spirit Of The 400 Year Anniversary Of Ben Jonson
In the spirit of the 400 year anniversary of Ben Jonson s First Folio, the Resurgens Theatre
Company, under the direction of Brent Griffin, put on a very lively, enjoyable rendition of Jonson s
Volpone. Playing at Atlanta s Shakespeare Tavern, an aura of energy fills the house from the second
you walk through the door way to the moment when you leave the building. This high energy
Jacobean comedyput on by a dynamic cast under seasoned intelligent direction offered a very
praise worthy production. Despite some very minute flaws, overall the actors were very
purposefully directed, understood the text, and offered a unique comedic experience that to much
surprise is 400 years old. A particular challenge that is often found in plays written from this era
that are presented to layman audiences, is the obstacle of understanding. I m sure everyone is aware
that the language that was used in 1600 s England is very different from what we use nowadays.
And when presenting this dramatically, you often find that in order to efficiently communicate this
language to an audiencethat isn t well versed in this language, players have to playthe characters and
words in a larger than life fashion to assist the audience. The company of Volpone did this extremely
well. Nearly through and through, the entire cast understood this and did a fantastic job of using
this tool to communicate the text effectively. The cast of Volpone also showed mastery in such
fundamentals of acting that often

School Coins
Recently, I discovered a new way to make a few cents per day. It doesn t involve a savings
account, or some form of investment such as a 401k. Instead, all it takes is an hour long stroll
throughout the school campus I work at, and a quick jaunt to a gas station near the campus
while I keep my eyes cast to the ground in order to spot bright, shiny objects. This new money
collecting device is just that: a means of literally collecting money from the ground. And, there s
plenty to be found, if you know where to look. Most often, I find pennies. Sometimes, I ll only
find one. Other times, I will hit a jackpot. What is certain is that there s something there every
time I take my walk. And surprisingly, one can make a small fortune. To date, I found about five
dollars worth of coins. It may not sound much, but consider this: at home I have a change jar
where I place all the coins I acquired after making a purchase. Once this jar fills up I go to my
bank and convert those coins into a check and deposit into my savings. Often, it takes me a year
to collect over $100 worth of coins. The coins I collect off the campus and street speed up that
process. It s possible now to turn the coins in within six months.... Show more content on

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Question: In what ways did Jews resist Nazi oppression during the Holocaust?
Goodmorning today i am going to talking about the Jewish resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto.
During 1941 to 1945 Jewish men, women and children were specifically targeted and murdered.
Adolf Hitler believed that the Jews were inferior, he wanted them to be killed until extinction. This
was the beginning of the holocaust.
Jews were forced out of there homes and were segregated into small areas called Ghettos. This
was just one step closer to the final solution. The Ghettos were purposely made to dehumanize
Jews and make them believe that they were inferior to the German population. The Jews had to
live in horrible conditions such as lack of food, no sewage, no sanitation, ... Show more content on

The largest uprising that occurred was in the warsaw ghetto in occupied poland. On the 22nd of
July 1942, thousands of Jews were being deported from the Warsaw Ghetto and sent to
extermination camps. This is what led to the uprising.
January 18, 1943, a group of Jews attacked German soldiers who were rounding up people for
deportation. This attacked encouraged many of the Jewish people living in Warsaw Ghetto to start
an uprising.
The jews created homemade explosives and weapons. They also built bunkers underneath the
Ghetto to help them plan their attacks as well as store their weapons. In april 1943, the Jewish
people learnt of new information about how the soldiers were sending everyone left in the warsaw
Ghetto to death camps. After hearing this, the largest resistance group in the Ghetto, the jewish
fighting organisation, alerted all Jews to hid in the bunkers. On April 19, German soldiers
marched in the Ghetto with tanks to gather up all the Jews that were left and to deport them. At 4
am, the resistance began by setting fire to the tanks with homemade explosives. There was 750

Men Were Not Always At The Head Of The Table Essay
Molly Clark
Mrs. Snider
AP English 12

Men Were not Always at the Head of the Table
Jane Austen, in her book Pride and Prejudice, ignores that fact that, at the time, women
were inferior to the men and makes many of the female character dominate to the male
characters which causes her novel to become of like a feminist novel. Some of the female
characters include Elizabeth, Mrs. Bennet, Lady Catherine, Lydia, Jane, Miss Darcy, Caroline,
and Miss Bingley just to name a few. The male characters on the other hand include Mr. Darcy,
Mr. Bingley. Mr. Bennet, Mr. Wickham, and Mr. Collins. Although there are a couple other male
characters, for example relatives of the Bennets, they show up in the novel for a short period of
time and are rarely mentioned afterword. Just by the list of the characters alone the reader can

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram...
2.1.6 Histogram Equalization
The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is
commonly highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance
lower than the average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One
means of enhancing these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which
the original image is rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired
form [6]. This method also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of
occurrence of each gray level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the
possibilities of occurrence of the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every
gray level is proportional to the altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of
histogram equalization are also available which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement.
Adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) [8] and Contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization

This is also as preparation of the next step where the histogram will be divided into two regions
based on its average value. The stretched histogram will provide a better pixel distribution of the
image channels and thus gives a more accurate average value of the channel which represents the
average value of the channel for the whole dynamic range. The equation (6) is used to stretch the
histogram of respective color channel to the whole dynamic range. Pin and Pout are the input and
output pixels, respectively, and imin, imax, omin, and omax are the minimum and maximum
intensity level values for the input and output images,

A Brief Note On The Urban Heat Island
An urban heat island is described as metropolitan area or a city that is particularly hotter than the
rural areas that surrounding it because of the activities of the human. The difference in the
temperature always higher during the night than at the day, and generally when winds are not
strong. Urban heat island is generally apparent during the winter and summer. The modification of
land surfaces is the main reason for the urban heat islandeffect. The second contributor is the
losing of heat created by the usage of the energy. The growth of the population center tends to
extend its area and boost its temperature average. The low utilize term heat island assigns to any

Reduction of the urban heat island impact can be completed by the utilize of green roofs and the
use of surfaces in urban areas with lighter color, which absorb less heat and reflect more sunlight. It
is well recognized that the advanced alteration by built surfaces of natural surfaces, within
urbanization, shapes the main due to the formation of the urban heat isolation. Natural surfaces are
frequently composed of moisture trapping soils and vegetation. Therefore, they use a large
proportion of the radiation that absorbed in the process of the evapotranspiration and emission
water vapor that shares in cooling the air in their neighborhood. So, built surfaces are possessed
from water resistant and a high percentage of non reflective construction materials. As a result, they
ensure the absorption of certain proportion of the happening radiation, which is emitted as heat.
Vegetation restricts radiation and yield umbrage that also helps in the reduction of the urban heat
release. The fragmentation and reduction of large vegetative zones such as parks, will decrease
these advantages and also will prohibits atmospheric cooling because of the circulation of
horizontal air created by the gradient of the temperature between urbanization and vegetation areas,
which is called the park cool island effect. On the other hand, the buildings which is arranged in

Ernest Hemingway Stereotypes Of Women
When people fall in love, many are innocently drawn into the idea of perfection in relationships
without believing any catastrophic events will occur. Society believes that love can conquer any
limitations in life, but Ernest Hemingway s novels, A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell
Tolls, defeat these stereotypes. Ernest Hemingways characters are depicted as strong featured, harsh
men who experience death and tragedy willingly. In A Farewell to Arms
and For Whom the Bell
Tolls, Hemingway expands on his male characters personalities. In his novels, he has created
these men with an outward façade to hide their emotional turmoil within. He depicts his
stereotypical, macho men as protagonists who have suffered great loss. His men have suffered
and endured violence, death and sadness. Specifically, the protagonists have been exposed to
war and tragedy. Conversely, the women have suffered and experienced sadness as well; such as
rape, and murder of their family members. Hemmingway s women are portrayed as unstable
women who find a safe haven in seemingly strong men, but their relationships are far from a safe
haven . These two timeless novels follow the lives of women and men who have been exposed to
unimaginable violence and tragedy. For example, Catherine, Maria, and Pilar whose experiences in
tragedy and suffering allow them to connect with their men, who have also experienced a mutual
tragedy.
One of the characters, Catherine Barkley, has faced immense tragedy.

Revenge and Vengeance
Revenge More Important than Oedipus Complex in Hamlet
A boy s streak of vengeance is not always merely Oedipal. Hamlet s revenge, and the situations that
spur it, are not based on his love for his mother, but on the need to avenge his father s death.
Although Hamlet is the only one who hears the ghost talk, others experience the sight. This proves
that he does not subconsciously create the hallucination in order to rid his mother of her new lover.
Once learning that his father was murdered, and that no one witnessed his death, Hamlet feels
compelled to punish the killer. Even though the murderer is his mother s new husband, Hamlet acts
to avenge his father s death, not out of jealousy for his mother s partner. Hamlet is very ... Show

concerning his father. The ghost informs Hamlet that Old Hamlet has been murdered by Claudius
and did not die a natural death. Upon learning that his father had been killed, Hamlet becomes
inclined to revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (I;v;25). Although he dislikes his uncle for
marrying his mother so quickly after his father s death, saying that Claudius was a little more than

his father s murder, not on Hamlet s feelings towards Claudius new wife.
After learning that his beloved father had been murdered, Hamlet decides to seek revenge
against his uncle. All of Denmark has been led to believe that Old Hamlet died a natural death,
and, having learned that this was not the case, and that the serpent that did sting [Hamlet s]

for this were not because he was jealous of Claudius for marrying his mother so quickly after his

The controversial debate over the death penalty has been going on for a very long time and still
has no conclusive solution. In the United States that is, most of the rest of the civilized world has
done away with the death penalty a long time ago. Many people have different views on this issue.
Although, there is a consensus that heinous murders need to be severely punished, there is no
consensus on the choice of that punished. The debate over the proper punishment lies between the
death penalty and life in prison. Some of the issues that encompass the debate are the morality of
the death penalty, the cost of the death penalty as opposed the cost of life in prison, the deterrent

It is definitely true that money should not be an issue when it comes to fighting crime and saving
people s lives. However, it is also true that it is necessary to logically and rationally choose the best
way to spend the available money for crime fighting. In the case of the death penalty, so much extra
money is spent in legal procedures and appeals that could be spent toward other more deterrent and
efficient ways to fighting crime, such as increased police forces, more funding for the war on guns,
and other crime fighting initiatives. In the economic sense, the death penalty is clearly not the
smartest and most efficient way to fight crime. One of the most important issues in the debate is the
deterrent effect of the death penalty. Deterrent effect, meaning that by having the death penalty as
an available form of punishment it will deter future murders from committing their crimes. So
supposedly, by instilling this fear of death a murderer will be forced to think twice before they kill.
This is not the case, as many studies have shown that the death penalty does not have a deterrent
effect. For instance, the homicide rates in states that do have the death penalty and those that don t
are generally the same. Furthermore, when states have established the death penalty they have not
seen their homicide rates fall (Barkan p. 498). A global statistic that disproves the deterrent effect of
the death penalty is that the United States, which in

Management Is The Process Of Human Resource Management
Question Two. Management is the process of managing the organizational resources: financial
resources, information resources, physical resources, and human resources. It is important to
mention that the proper usage of other resources depends on the human resources. The success or
failure of the company depends mostly on the capability of its people. The main responsibility of
the human resources professionals is to control the human resources in an effective way but
controlling the human resources during organizational change is very difficult and complex.
Human resources professionals are supposed to act an active role in managing change in the

professionals are supposed to play the roles that are parallel to the requirements of changing

Comparing Nineteen Eighty-Four and Utopia
Parallels in Nineteen Eighty Four and Utopia
Literature is a mirror of life. In order to reflect their views on the problems in society, many
authors of fiction, including Sir Thomas More of Utopia and George Orwell of Nineteen Eighty
Four, use parallels in character, setting, government, and society to link their works to the real
world.
Characters are the appendages of a literary work, without well rounded characters, a novel is not
complete. In many situations, authors use certain distinguishing features of a well known figure in
society to shape the character in their works. These realistic characters are the work s link to the
outside world. In the book Utopia, Thomas More presents himself as a character the ... Show more

The London presented in 1984 is a ruin with the reminders of constant warfare. There are half
torn buildings everywhere, and people live in horrid conditions, lacking in a steady electricity
supply, rations, and running water. The London Orwell portrays is for the most part the
naturalistically presented city during the Second World War and the years immediately afterward
(Brown 92). In 1948, merely three years after the end of the Second World War, London was a torn
down city as a result of years of endless bombing and warfare. Perhaps Orwell saw this fact and
wanted to include the dreadfulness of warfare in his novel.
Warfare, consequently, is the wrongdoing of the government. As Thomas Paine once wrote,
Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. To
reflect the political ideas of themselves, authors often incorporate into their works a style of
government that dominates in the story.
In More s Utopia, the government is a democracy, where the citizens elect the syphogrant of their
district. The syphogrants are comparable to the Members of Parliament who represent the public in
England. The syphogrants then elect two hundred tranibors , a higher level of authority, and the
tranibors elect the prince, the mayor of a city. The representatives of higher positions such as the
tranibors and the prince, however,

They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the
group says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet
completely developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their
child. Their bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18).
Raising a baby is too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still
have an education to finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a
baby and will rely too much on parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even
thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice supporters believe unhealthy relationships will
occur between mother and child because of being unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and
worthless and that will be key for the relationship going down the gutter. There will be too much
conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a terrible life for both the child and
mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone else should do with their
own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say the fetus is not a
person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath outside of
the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its own is
when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby.

Appliance Maker the Challenge
Case 1: Appliance maker
The challenge
Senior executives at a large, low cost manufacturer of appliances and white goods were concerned
about the sluggish performance of the company s household fan business. It had long been among
the top leading players in the company s home country an emerging market but was now losing
domestic share in two important, and fiercely competitive, product categories.
The company s leaders suspected that a stagnant product portfolio was partly to blame; they had
been focusing a considerable amount of attention on operations and had neglected to revisit fan
designs for a couple of years. Meanwhile, an innovative upstart, also from an emerging market, had
begun competing with the manufacturer, both at home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet the teardown showed that as compared with competitors, the company was overbuilding its
products significantly and that identical or even better product performance was possible at a
lower cost if the team was willing to rethink its design approaches.
Some of the resulting design changes were quite straightforward and even, in retrospect, obvious.
Yet the team acknowledged that the new ideas didn t click until the teardown, when the evidence
was spread out on the table for discussion. By modifying the cover of one type of household fan,
for example, the team made it unnecessary to include an internal bracket assembly that had
supported the original cover a savings of 7 percent per unit. This change, like most cost saving
opportunities the team identified, was invisible to customers and didn t matter to them (for an
example of one model, see diagram).
Many of the individual cost saving opportunities the team identified were small. But the collective
impact was huge helping the company to reduce the total cost of manufacturing its fans by more
than 10 percent, against a cost base that was already quite competitive. Meanwhile, consumers
received the new designs well, and that contributed to a 50 percent jump in operating profit in the
first year of their introduction and helped elevate the company to the number two spot in the market
(up from number three) over that time span.

The imprint that agriculture makes on the cultural landscape is as you look from the West Coast of
the United States to the East Coast you would see green circles standing out in arid regions of the
country are places where center pivot irrigation systems circle around a pivot, providing irrigation
to a circle of crops. Then you can also see a checkerboard pattern on the landscape that reflects
the pattern of land ownership in much of the country. Three main Cadastral systems, the method
of land survey through which land ownership and property lines are defined, include township
and range system, metes and bounds and the longlot survey system. Township and range system
divides land into a series of rectangular parcels. The land was bought and sold in a gridlike
pattern on the land in whole, half, or quarter sections. Metes and bounds survey system uses
natural features are used to demarcate irregular parcels of lands. Long lot survey system divides
land into narrow parcels stretching back from rivers, roads, or canals.

The poem is a sonnet with three quatrains and a couplet divided into two stanzas that closely
resembles the Petrarchan sonnet form. The speaker emphasizes the traditional aspect of the love
through the conventional form of the sonnet. From the division between the stanzas in a Petrarchan
sonnet, the speaker introduces a shift from the speaker s observation on traditional love because the
second stanza in a Petrarchan sonnet presents a counterargument. With the shift, the speaker
suggests a separation between the traditional and modern love; therefore, the Petrarchan sonnet

The Real World During Quantum-Mechanical Experiments
We ve already discussed some of the experimental phenomena that inspire competing interpretations
or theories of what s going on in the real world during quantum mechanical experiments. (In brief:
Observing microscopic particles seems to either: cause them to randomly take one result or the
other; create a branching world for every possible outcome; or require hidden variables and allow
for faster than light, nonlocal communication. Particles seem not to take one path, not the other, not
both, and not neither, and even act as if they know when we re observing them.)
In this final installment of a three article series, we ll look in very broad strokes at some of the
philosophical implications of these views of quantum mechanics.
I. Logic
Standard logic is two valued. That just means that each sentence in the logic is true or false, not
both, and not neither. My cat s breath smells like cat food is either true or false; it can t both smell
that way and not smell that way at the same time to the same person, and surely it either does or it
doesn t. But as we ve seen, some interpretations of quantum mechanics might suggest adding in a
new value.1 Perhaps Copenhagen style interpretations indicate that we should have a value of
neither a truth value gap and Copenhagen and many worlds interpretations indicate that we should
have a value of both: a truth value glut. 2 As it happens, there are independent philosophical
reasons to explore three or four valued logics (and

Ecosystem services are defined as the direct and indirect benefits to human well being that are
derived from ecosystems and ecosystem function (Gomez Baggethun and Barton 2013, TEEB

species that make them up, sustain and fulfill human life (Daily, 1997, p. 3). The ecosystemservice

including data cataloguers, toolkits that allow one to model ecosystem service flows for a site,
and a combination of both that are custom for specific region. Recent efforts have resulted in the
development of several models that assess the impact of development on service flow, including

Based on a research, diseases are biological situations which are written off as abnormalities in
the role of certain organs or entire organ systems. Meanwhile, illnesses are absolutely not the

prescriptions these days frequently ignore the aspects of an individual mentioned above and as a

Turbulent Flow Essay
MM4TTF: Introduction to Turbulence and Turbulent Flows
Case Study 1: Turbulent Boundary Layer Structure
Turbulent coherent structures are flow patterns that can be distinguished from each other, as
opposed to motions such as eddies which are subject to the phenomenon of superpositioning.
Several of these occur in the near wall region:
Low speed streaks refer to the regions of relatively slow flow spaced out in a pronounced
manner. They generally occur between the legs of hairpin vortices, where flow is displaced
upward from the surfaces so that it convects low momentum fluid away from the wall. [2]. Streaks
have been found to occur in the sublayer region by Kline and Runstandler (1959)[1] and have been
shown to occur at a distance of y+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of coherent structure are rolls , which are pairs of counter rotating streamwise
vortices that are the dominant vertical structures in the near wall region defined by y+ 100 [2].
They account for streak production also, as the fluid being pushed outwards between the rolls has
reduced axial velocity, creating a velocity profile which is inviscidly unstable, and also associate
with bursting and lift up.
Bursting may be described as a characteristic behaviour of the low speed streaks. It generally refers
to the whole process of a streak undergoing lift up from near the wall, beginning to oscillate, and
subsequently undergoing break up and ejection
Firstly the streaks slowly begin moving downstream and drifting outwards; this is the process
known as lift up . After the streak reaches a distance of around y+ = 8 12, it begins to rapidly
oscillate, which increases in amplitude as outflow progresses. This ends in a sudden breakup,
generally when y+ is between 10 30. After breakup, the streak lifts away from the wall by a
vigorous and chaotic motion. This process ejects low speed fluid into a region of the boundary layer
with a faster streamwise velocity. [3]. This process of bursting can be shown graphically, with a
representation of a dye streak in a turbulent boundary layer; a typical example is shown below: The
pressure gradient has been observed to have an effect on the bursting phenomenon; it has been
observed that a positive

Sissy Jupe In The Movie Hard Times
Hard Times is a novel with the most confusing characters who would need talented actors and
actresses to be able to represent them because of the characteristics they show that are hard to
understand. The actress named ChloГ« Grace Moretz, or Mia in the movie If I Stay could represent
the character of Sissy Jupe, as a result of her ability to be positive and know what it s like to lose it
all, But still have the ability to wonder and love. Tom Hiddleston in the movie Thor, who plays
Loki, has the talent to be Mr. Bounderby being an evil person in the movie, betraying all of those
that love him and Bounderby is terrible for people in the book and does the same to his mother.

That s why the actress Chloe Moretz or the character of Mia in the movie If I Stay would be an
exceptional actress to portray the role as Sissy Jupe because of her strong will in the movie, the
circumstances in which they both encounter, and many more similar traits that are important to the
character of Sissy(Cecilia) Jupe is in Hard Times . Sissy also is an imaginative character that likes
to wander and have her mind in places that Mr. Gradgrind thought never existed. Mia is a strong
witted character that wonders what her life is going to be like without her family, that no one
could ever imagine and she wonders about all of the greatness in life when her family was there.
In Hard Times Sissy s father runs away from her and abandons her and Sissy is left with the
decision to go with Mr. Gradgrind, a character who only cares about the facts and learning with
no imagination or to live with the people who love her and care for her and let her be the person
she wants to be. Sissy has to choose if she wants to have a satisfying life with all the people she
loves and have fun or be taken in by Mr. Gradgrind as a servant and one who has to only learn
facts with no imagination. Mia goes through a similar situation in If I Stay. Mia s family is hit
when driving and Mia knows what s going on and can see everything and has to generate the
decision if she wants to live or die. She is unconscious, but aware of everything else and she
finds out that her parents and her brother all died in the crash and were not able to stay alive.
Even with this tragedy Mia, like Sissy, composes a strong, grave decision that she wants to live
even though her family is not there anymore. Sissy made the decision to live in a safe home that
will provide her with everything she needs. In both cases, they lose what s important to them and
the people that love them, but they keep moving forward.

Low Carbohydrate Diets Or Ketosis Diets Essay
Very low carbohydrate diets or ketosis diets have become increasingly popular for weight loss.
There is evidence from individual trials about the benefits and risks of a low carbohydrate diet
verses a fat restricted diet (2).The objective of this paper is to discover whether low
carbohydrate diets have more beneficial health related solutions verses a fat restricted diet. In
one study, a traditional low fat diet was compared to a low carbohydrate diet amongst people
who have type two diabetes. The results show that only a low carbohydrate diet provided
significant improvement of the inflammatory state and type two diabetes. In another
study,Evidence supports a low carbohydrate diet for weight loss and improvement in traditional
cardiovascular disease. The effects of a low carbohydrate diet and a low fat diet were examined
for 12 months among 148 obese adults free of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. At 12 months
participants of low carbohydrate diet had significantly greater increases in adiponecin than those
on a low fat diet, as resulting low carbohydrate diet had a similar or greater improvement then
standard low fat diet. In another study, 148 men and women without cardiovascular disease or
diabetes were put into either low carbohydrate diet or low fat diet. Both groups received dietary
counseling regularly. Data was collected every three months. Results stated that those on low
carbohydrate diet have greater decrease in weight and greater increase in HDL

The Fascinating Age of Technology
The technology which is around almost everyone in the today s and future society, affects both
work and personal activities. Technology hold data that many would rather it didn t have. It
directs minds in great and horrible ways, and it allows people to learn information which they
would otherwise not be able to learn. Even though a person doesn t own a device or have a bank
card, there is information in a system somewhere on the earth.
The modern technology which is now beginning to be shaped and secured to allow children to
attain the information easier and teens in ways that allow them to construct their life plans in a
more knowledgeable way. It is conflicting with our immediate future. It gives another form of
communication and ability to share information that hasn t ever been available before, data that
is both good and bad. Different situations affect how happy we re with our lives. This age of
technology focuses on changing the situations to make us happier with our lives. The happier we
are with our lives, the more money companies such as Apple and Microsoft make more money
because we will spend more money on their products. We are basically the guinea pigs for
companies like the two mentioned. We are basically on this earth to either help create a better
technological development or to be the user s that provide Apple and Microsoft with the money to

Bourgeoisie And Proletariat By Karl Marxist
Karl Marx s philosophy defines specific characteristics that came to be known as the Marxist
approach. In this critical approach, whoever holds the power and controls the factories or means of
production, consequently controlled the whole society. Marx s opinion states that the laborers
running the factories and thus holding the means of productionshould be the ones holding the
power. However, this idea rarely holds true in practical society. Frequently, Marx notes, that the
powerful people hire other people to carry out the labor. This decision of power is a reflection of
culture. Two main classes or divisions of people exist, the bourgeoisie and proletariat. The
bourgeoisie are the powerful or those who in charge or production... Show more content on

Simply, the proletariat are conditioned to take pride in their specified areas, thus they are
prevented from wanting to challenge their oppressors. The bourgeoisie use a variety of means to
impose their ideals on the proletariat such as designing their art and literature to be enjoyable, thus
the powerless are immune and unaware to their manipulation. Since the bourgeoisie control the
means of production anything offensive or challenge will never come to mainstream. Phillip
Sipiora best sums up the idea of this approach when he says it aims to show the portrayal of social
injustice, the ethical effects of of the pot elements, the conflict between personal and community
responsibilities, and the way the proletariat simply exist without question in their suppressive, evil
environment (122). When utilizing the Marxist approach, the two classes are identifiably divided.
While both sides are aware of the division of power, the proletariat s conditioning leads to
acceptance of their place with contentment and without challenge. Orwell best describes this theory
as all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others (Frye 9). In the novels, the citizens
live under this false idea of equality. The bourgeoisie s definition of equality differs tremendously
from the modern day definition of equality. Huxley illustrates

How did the Persian kings control/govern the various parts of their realm? Consider at least three
different geographical areas
The origins of Cyrus the Great are rather unclear and highly disputed. Multiple accounts range
from him being the grandson of the Median King Astyages to being the son of a poor Persian
family of a disreputable clan. Although there can be no certainty, as with most everything from
the ancient world, it is widely believed that, by heredity, he became the sub king of a Persian
land called Persis, under the rule of the Median king Astyages. (Cook 1983, 25 26) He quickly
expanded his power by unifying all of the Persian lands under ... Show more content on

After conquering Media, Babylonia, and Egypt, for instance, Cyrus The Great and Cambyses II
would make a personal union with the peoples of these countries. They would crown themselves
according to the local customs, and created normal conditions for the development of the economy
and transit trade. They retained, with moderate altercations, the local political structures in these
countries, and offered the peoples a large degree of local self government. These first two kings
proved to have not created a very well structured empire, however, which led to the multiple
uprisings from 523 521 BCE. (Gershevitch 1985, 502 504) From there, Darius I, the King who
proceeded Cambyses II, found a more stable balance by putting in place a more organized
administrative system that would not undergo any fundamental changes up until the demise of the
Achaemenid Empire.
The system that Darius I put in place split the empire up into roughly twenty satrapies that would
be governed by satraps. The satraps were responsible for collecting the annual tribute set by the
king, drafting people to the army, and maintaining justice and security within their satrapy. The
satraps would also have an armed force at their disposal to keep everybody within their satrapy in
line. (Gershevitch 1985, 267) Inspectors would also periodically visit each satrapy to

A Study On The Classroom
Alina was observed during the morning in her third grade class. At the start of the observation,
Alina appeared focused and engaged as she worked independently on a math assignment. After a
few minutes, Mrs. Hippchen, Alina s third grade teacher, reviewed the math answers to the class.
As Mrs. Hippchen reviewed the answers and called upon students to provide answers, Alina
appeared focused as she listened and wrote on her math worksheet. She occasionally looked over
at a peer s paper during the activity. When Mrs. Hippchen asked the students to raise their hands if
they obtained the correct answerto a question, Alina raised her hand. At one point, Alina was called
upon to solve a math problem. She incorrectly answered the question, however, with her teacher s
feedback, she was able to correct her answer.
Mrs. Hippchen then instructed the class to clear their desks to start a new math activity. Alina
followed her teacher s direction. As Mrs. Hippchen reviewed a math homework assignment to the
class, Alina followed along appropriately. When the students were asked to draw a diagram to aid
them in solving a problem, Alina appeared engaged as she drew on her paper. After the homework
review, Mrs. Hippchen instructed the class to take out their math workbooks. Alina followed her
teacher s direction as she cleared her desk and pulled out her math workbook from her cubby. As
Mrs. Hippchen taught the math lesson, Alina wrote in her workbook, listened to her teacher, and

Company Summary and Challenges
Deborah Ann s Sweet Shoppe is a specialty chocolatier and candy maker located on Main Street
in Ridgefield, Connecticut. All of their homemade products are made either in house or at their
facility in nearby Brookfield. Deborah Ann s is a local fixture in Ridgefield, and they have
amassed a large and devoted consumer base. Their target market is local school age children and
their families. They have an advantage over big brands like Hershey s and Wonka because they use
higher quality ingredients. They also sell their treats in luxury packaging that appeals to the affluent
population of Ridgefield.
Mike, the owner, finds that his primary marketing concern is the struggle to find new products that
will engage and interest their consumer base. As a company that has been around for many years,

Every one of the major candy brands has accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They
frequently offer specials and have other promotional items on their pages. This engages their
consumers and keeps a public interest alive. Currently, Deborah Ann s only has a Facebook
account that is seldom used. This lack of social media utilization may be to blame for Deborah
Ann s less than great customer acquisition rate. Deborah Ann s should have an account on both
Instagram and Twitter. Food companies do best on Instagram because their customers become
appetized after seeing pictures of appealing food. Mike could post pictures of fresh made fudge
and candy to entice people to stop by. On a hot summer day, he could post a picture of his ice
cream in a sugar cone along with a 20% off coupon to the first one hundred customers of the day.
Such posts would substantially increase sales at Deborah Ann s Sweet Shoppe.

God Bless The Usa Analysis
The artifact that expresses my view of America is the song, God Bless the USA written and sung
by Lee Greenwood. Although written in the 1980s, this song rose to popularity after the 9/11
attack on the World Trade Center. God Bless the USA is a motivating song that I believe
reassured the American people and gave them hope after such a traumatic incident. The musical
qualities of God Bless the USA help to construct Greenwood s vision of America. The song begins
with clear piano and guitar notes, which creates a slow and reflective feel. However, as the song
continues, the music builds up until it is proud symphony of violins. This transition shows the
moral strength of the American people. As the music gets closer to the chorus, there... Show more

In God Bless the USA, Greenwood mentions that he won t forget the men who died [in the
army], and who gave [freedom] to me. In Greenwood s perspective, fighting for the USA is
idealistic and in line with the American values. However, in Born in the USA, Springsteen notes
that the military is sent off in a foreign land to go kill the yellow man. In this statement,
Springsteen is highly unfavorable to having American soldiers go and kill in the name of what is
right. He believes that Americans are violent. While God Bless the USA is uses a rhythmic drum
beat to display American pride, Born in the USA uses those same music qualities as irony.
Springsteen s mesh of anthemic music and disheartening lyrics conveys his message about the
warped sense of pride that Americans

found that beta of X1 is 0.2750 which indicates there is a positive relationship between the utilities
excess return and the healthcare excess return. This positive relationship is statistically significant
as the p value is close to 0 which is much less than the significance level of 5%. In addition, the
standard error of X1 is 0.0300 which represents the average distance that the observed values fall

And the outputs of both dataset are consisted with the results applying the robust function. Betas
stay the same and only the standard errors in both cases decline slightly. Similarly, the graphs in
both cases remain the same. Based on the non robust test, we then can confirm that the variables
are independent and uncorrelated, which satisfies the easing assumption to state the model is
consistent. 7.Criticism Referring to Figure 6.2.3 and 6.3.3, it was proven that our model has
problems that the sample data used does not represent the whole population. Therefore, this is
one of the flaws in our research. A more constructive suggestion to eliminate this problem would
be to extend the research with a larger sample size with longer time horizon. And if the sample
size is large enough, the time series issue can be neglected. Another issue might arise by the
determination of explanatory variables. As we follow the facesheet from Morningstar (2011) to
choose our explanatory variables as a symbol of the defensive sectors and cyclical sectors, it is
possible that the category of sectors is incorrect. Without the support of academic journals, the
facesheet might be purely based on analysts opinions instead of facts. By estimating wrong
explanatory variables, the findings will become

The Development Of Data Warehouse Essay
3. Traditional ETL process
3.1 Traditional ETL During ETL process, data from many sources will be extracted and integrated
into data warehouse periodically. Extraction is a process to identified and retrieve all relevant data
from the sources. The role of transformation is to cleansing the data and integrated different schema
to defined schema in data warehouse. Meanwhile, loading is a process to physically move the data
from operational system to data warehouse.
3.1.1 ETL Concept
It is necessary to define ETL scope by analyzing each target table (its dimension and facts) at the
beginning of ETL architecture process. It is necessary to fetch the behavior of each target table;
where its source is and what kind of business process that depend on it.
3.1.1.1. Metadata
In the early development of data warehouse, integration is formed by making specific ETL
program for the structure of source database and data warehouse database. As the time passed
by, it is found that those specific ETL programs essentially are doing the same process. Many
block programs are reusable for another ETL process. At this point, ETL tools that can do
automated data integration to data warehouse are developed. To put it briefly, metadata is data
about data. Specially, metadata ETL is data about ETL process. Defining metadata ETL is
necessary to build ETL program with high reusability

The Ways Of Human Life
Life can be expressed in many different ways. It can be be expressed through song or word. But life
in general is all expressed by human beings the same way; by living, people express who they are
and what they stand for. People express their lives day by day without even knowing. People are
all born, people all live, and people all die. But the things in between are what make life yours.
This is how people live; this is how people exist. Thornton Wilder expresses the ways of humanlife
and existence in Our Town, and these perspectives can be linked into other poems, songs, or
movies. In Lucinda Matlock, Masters says this line that seems to tie into the ways of human
life: And then I found David. Life is just happening and along the way, you can meet people who
change your life completely. They can steal your heart and change your life and you as a person.
It is very crazy of how one single person can just come in and change your life like that, but it
happens all the time. It can happen anytime, anywhere. This can relate this back to Our Town by
the scene where George and Emily are in the ice cream parlor. They had been neighbors forever
but had never seen each other in any other way. But in that day, they went from just friends to
being in love. After that, their lives were entirely different. I m just an ordinary person. And that s
OK. This is a quote from Hope Floats. This means that you have to love and accept yourself to be
able to live life to the

  • 3. Descriptive Essay On Niagara Falls Niagara Falls, Canada Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been interesting and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for years. Why did they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and some did not. People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come out being rich, they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara Falls or they perish to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged, thousands. I love to watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have gone over the Falls and survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and is on the border of America and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017, this means that they are in a transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are a great source of electricity for Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has achieved 77% of the population to be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and tertiary sectors of the economy, which is what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara Falls have three different waterfalls and each is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall, American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall flows into the Niagara River filling the river with 150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on the Canadian border and the American border by Goat Island. The Horseshoe Fall has nine times more water than the American Falls and makes up 90% of Niagara River. It stands at 167 feet tall and is 2, 700 feet wide in a horseshoe shape. The American Fall and is located in America and is in the state of New York. This Fall is 110 feet tall and 950 feet in width. This Fall shares its location with The Bridal Veil also in the state of New York. The Bridal Veil is 181 feet from land to top and 56 feet wide. In 1678 the first sighting of the Falls was by Father Louis Hennepin, he was sent on a French expedition. Hennepin published a book called A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Notes On Loans And Loan Loans Explained Whether you are buying your first home or adding another investment property to your portfolio, deciding on which loan is a decision that could cost or save tens of thousands of dollars from your mortgage over the life of your loan. The various loans available in the market can be broadly classified into the following categories: Standard Variable Rate loans are the most common loans provided by lenders. As the name implies, the interest rate charged can vary and is typically in line with the announcement of the cash rate by the Reserve Bank of Australia every 1st Tuesday of each month. Such loans are normally provided with most of the common features, such as offset account, extra repayment, split account and redraw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Look out for hefty exit fees and associated costs, and be aware that fixed rates can be less flexible in allowing you the choice of making extra, or more frequent, repayments. Lines of Credit are similar to using a credit card with a credit limit. That limit is determined by the value of the properties that are used as security for the loan, as well as by the client s ability to repay the loan. Given that it is like a credit card, borrowers can use the amount available as they wish; it is wise that only borrowers who are disciplined spenders choose such a loan. Most investors will set up a line of credit loan to allow them access to immediate money for any unexpected maintenance or repairs to the property. It also allows them to use that money as a deposit for any properties that they would like to purchase. Introductory/Honeymoon rate loans are typically standard variable rate loans. However, the difference is that during the honeymoon or introductory period (lasting up to three years), the interest rate charged will be lower than the rate for standard variable rate loans. This lower rate will revert to the standard variable rate interest once the honeymoon period is over. Construction loans are used for the purchase of vacant land and subsequent property construction. During the construction period, borrowers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Physical Health Problems The physical health problems caused by the computers for children Introduction The invention of the electronic tools e.g. computers make people lead an efficient and convenient life. The efficiency, convenience and practicability of the electronic tools e.g. computers attract both adults and children, and make them use these tools in their daily life (ThomГ©e, 2015). As has been seen, the use of computers and in adults work is becoming more frequent and majority of children use these tools in their daily life as well. However, the long time use of computers may caused some problems, and one of the problems is the physical health problem. When using a computer, no matter a laptop or a desktop, the user do not need to move. These behavior would normally be defined as sedentary behavior, which may make the user to do less physical exercise, fit less physically and suffer more risk of health problems. The problem may be solved by three solutions, the first seems to make children use computer in a right posture, the second may be some physical exercises and another solution seems to decrease children s time spent on computers. Physical health problem caused by computers According to Kimmerly (2009), over 90% of children aged 3 18 in the US used computers, and with children aged, more children started to use computer related activities. • 7. English 101 Education. Why is it such an easy word to understand but such a tedious task to accomplish? We come from a society that hands out education easily, however that education comes with a price. Jean Anyon explains this process through her research in From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work. Anyon dissects the socio economic class that determines the types of instruction students receive. Through her research one can compare her findings to Mike Rose s narrative, I Just Wanna Be Average, to be true and insightful. Rose speaks of his high school life as an underachiever as well as his ability to break free from the mold that he was once placed in. MacFarland demanded respect and it was given as Rose writes, Though a lot of guys groused in the schoolyard, it just seemed that giving trouble to this particular teacher was a silly thing to do... it came to this: the troublemaker would look foolish rather than daring (165). Rose also explained that he wasn t disciplined properly in the vocational program, whereas MacFarland prepped his students to focus on college to the point of helping them with their entrance paperwork. This is another example how the executive elite class teachers inspire their students to go beyond their limitations. As limits go, I realized they existed in 1984 when I had to suffer through Sister Barbara s 8th grade English Class at St. Stephens. Our class of 64 was divided into two groups, the working class and the executive elite. There was nothing in between. One either had it or didn t. I obviously didn t have it. The executive elite class had options to work in teams and come up with brilliant stories to read to the class. In the end, the group with the best writings received candy treats as prizes. Candy treats still rings in my ear and that is where it stayed. Our sad working class group was uninspiring and restricted to working alone at our desk with no treats in sight. • 8. Wind Chill Wind chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed sin due to the flow of cold air. Wind chill temperatures are always lower than air temperature. The human body loses heat through convection, evaporation, conduction and radiation. The rate of heat loss by a surface through convection depends on the windspeed above that surface. As a surface heats the air around it, an insulating boundary layer of warm air forms agains the surface. Moving air disrupts the boundary layer, allowing for new, cooler air to replace the warm air against the surface. The faster the wind speed, the more readily the surface cools. The speed of cooling has different effect on inanimate objects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although high winds can make those of us with a pulse feel more miserable than normal, they don t have the same effect on inanimate objects. Lower wind chills mean that inanimate object to the temperature more quickly, but even high winds can t force the object s temperature below the air temperture. That means that even though your skin might think it s 28 degrees, your water pipes will still be balmy 40 degress. Wind Chill = 35.74 + 0.6215T 35.75(V^0.16) + 0.4275T(V^0.16) T is the air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and V is the wind speed in miles per hour. Basically the wind chil factor you hear reported assumes that your exposed face is roughly five feet off th eground, it s night, and you re walking directly into the wind in an open field at a clip of about 3 mph. Remember, the basic concept behind wind chill is that stronger winds will cause exposed skin to cool more quickly. The faster skin cools, the faster frostbite can set it. As wind chills drop south of 50 or so, the onset of frostbite can take as little as five minutes, so it s worth keeping an eye on the wind chill even if the notion of your skin feeling like a certain temperature may be a bit misleading. Predators are organisms that consume other organisms their prey. These two organisms evolve together. They live in an environment where they must develop certain adaptations to survive. When an adaptation is developed, it gives an organism certain physical characteristics that create an advantage for survival and can come to dominate in a population. An adaptation aids survival by either decreasing a prey s chance of being eaten, or by increasing a predator s chance of obtaining food to survive and reproduce. Predators must fight for food. Do not hesitate to intrude, any hungry natural predator would not. Hunting time will be 5 minutes. When the teacher or the wildfire comes around and touches any of the students, they must step out of the playing area for fifteen seconds. When told to stop, each student will tally up his kills . If a predator is in the process of capturing a prey when told to stop, he must drop it. 6. Repeat this process for each generation and make the proper adjustments required for each. 7. At the end of the lab, share your data with the class and add up the number of prey killed. Observations: In certain parts of the field, the grass was very tall and the prey that were in that area were very difficult to find. Because of this many predators ignored the grassy areas which caused a lot of competition for prey in the other areas of the field. Certain prey such as the corn was easily concealed in the grass because of its small size. However, in the dirt area, the color of the corn really made it stand out. In the dirt area of the field, the pinto beans were concealed because its camouflage characteristics allowed it blended in with the dirt, but it stuck out in the grass. The black beans were small black so it was concealed it both the grass and the dirt. The lima ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This report identifies the need to resolve the issue of customers not coming in to pick up the parts that were ordered for them. My report explains and describes all of the details that came out of my research. I conducted a survey to determine if this was really a problem that needed to be resolved. I took a record of how many parts were special ordered and how many of those parts did not get picked up over a week. With the most advanced military and serves as a beacon of hope and peace. It is obvious that one would expect United States of America to be at the top of the lists when it comes to education but unfortunately, that is not true. Day by day, our economy is becoming more and more depended on technical notions which leaves us behind in math and science in the world. Our government spends about 10,000 dollars every year on each student in the public educationsystem (Lessons in Education). The solution to our failing schoolsystem is not to spend more money, but to spend the money wisely. Essay about The Harmful Effects of Second Hand Smoke The Harmful Effects of Second Hand Smoke An Australian courtroom, November 2002, has banned a mother of a ten year old boy from smoking in her household (Watts). This is because of the numerous harmful effects that go along with second hand smoke. The court was protecting the child from these dangers; the mother and grandfather both admitted to smoking approximately 40 cigarettes everyday (Watts). The ruling was done by the anti smoking lobby, and was a first for this type of case. For women, second hand smoke increases their risk of heart attacks (Page). Many say that second hand smoke is more harmful than first hand smoke. This is because only 15% of smoke is inhaled by smokers; the other 85% is in the air for nonsmokers to inhale, whether they want to or not (Page). The dangers that result from second hand smoke include: cancer, asthma, lung infections, emphysema, heart disease, pneumonia, ear infections, strokes, sinus infections, nose ear and throat discomfort, nausea, headaches and dizziness. Twenty percent of the population is at risk for obtaining lung disease due to second hand smoke, and for those who live with a smoker, there is a thirty percent increase of getting lung cancer or heart attacks (Page). Nonsmokers can even have carcinogens found in their blood. The bottom line remains: when somebody smokes, everyone around is effected. . There are two types of second hand smoke, both which cause dangers for those around them. These types are mainstream smoke and sidestream smoke (Page). Men Were Not Always At The Head Of The Table Essay Molly Clark Mrs. Snider AP English 12 11 October 2016 Men Were not Always at the Head of the Table Jane Austen, in her book Pride and Prejudice, ignores that fact that, at the time, women were inferior to the men and makes many of the female character dominate to the male characters which causes her novel to become of like a feminist novel. Some of the female characters include Elizabeth, Mrs. Bennet, Lady Catherine, Lydia, Jane, Miss Darcy, Caroline, and Miss Bingley just to name a few. The male characters on the other hand include Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley. Mr. Bennet, Mr. Wickham, and Mr. Collins. Although there are a couple other male characters, for example relatives of the Bennets, they show up in the novel for a short period of time and are rarely mentioned afterword. Just by the list of the characters alone the reader can already see the dominance of the female characters. But what makes Pride and Prejudice a feminist novel is not the overwhelming amount female characters, but how these characters use what limited power they had at the time to overrule the men in the novel. The main character in this novel is a female Elizabeth Bennet. She is described and shown as independent, caring, and someone who does not care about living up to society s expectations. Elizabeth is also described as very beautiful and she is Mrs. Bennet s favorite daughter because of her beauty. In the novel, Elizabeth received three marriage

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram... 2.1.6 Histogram Equalization The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is commonly highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance lower than the average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One means of enhancing these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which the original image is rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired form [6]. This method also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of occurrence of each gray level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the possibilities of occurrence of the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every gray level is proportional to the altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of histogram equalization are also available which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement. As Thomas Paine once wrote, Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. To reflect the political ideas of themselves, authors often incorporate into their works a style of government that dominates in the story. In More s Utopia, the government is a democracy, where the citizens elect the syphogrant of their district. The syphogrants are comparable to the Members of Parliament who represent the public in England. The syphogrants then elect two hundred tranibors , a higher level of authority, and the tranibors elect the prince, the mayor of a city. Ever since the Supreme Court legalized abortion, more than hundreds of abortions are performed daily. Abortion is a constant debate among pro life and pro choice. Not everybody believes or agrees with the same point of view. People argue pro life or pro choice, if it is murder or not, however, an abortion ends the pregnancy before giving birth thus ending the life of a living unborn child. Pro life supporters believe abortion is murdering a child. They suggest other alternatives for the life of the child. A fetus is living as soon as it is conceived. Therefore, it is killing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath outside of the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its own is when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby. ... It had long been among the top leading players in the company s home country an emerging market but was now losing domestic share in two important, and fiercely competitive, product categories. The company s leaders suspected that a stagnant product portfolio was partly to blame; they had been focusing a considerable amount of attention on operations and had neglected to revisit fan designs for a couple of years. Yet the teardown showed that as compared with competitors, the company was overbuilding its products significantly and that identical or even better product performance was possible at a lower cost if the team was willing to rethink its design approaches. Some of the resulting design changes were quite straightforward and even, in retrospect, obvious. Yet the team acknowledged that the new ideas didn t click until the teardown, when the evidence was spread out on the table for discussion. By modifying the cover of one type of household fan, for example, the team made it unnecessary to include an internal bracket assembly that had supported the original cover a savings of 7 percent per unit. This change, like most cost saving opportunities the team identified, was invisible to customers and didn t matter to them (for an example of one model, see diagram). Many of the individual cost saving opportunities the team identified were small. But the collective impact was huge helping the company to reduce the total cost of manufacturing its fans by more than 10 percent, against a cost base that was already quite competitive. Meanwhile, consumers received the new designs well, and that contributed to a 50 percent jump in operating profit in the first year of their introduction and helped elevate the company to the number two spot in the market (up from number three) over that time span. • 38. The Real World During Quantum-Mechanical Experiments We ve already discussed some of the experimental phenomena that inspire competing interpretations or theories of what s going on in the real world during quantum mechanical experiments. (In brief: Observing microscopic particles seems to either: cause them to randomly take one result or the other; create a branching world for every possible outcome; or require hidden variables and allow for faster than light, nonlocal communication. Particles seem not to take one path, not the other, not both, and not neither, and even act as if they know when we re observing them.) In this final installment of a three article series, we ll look in very broad strokes at some of the philosophical implications of these views of quantum mechanics. I. Logic Standard logic is two valued. That just means that each sentence in the logic is true or false, not both, and not neither. My cat s breath smells like cat food is either true or false; it can t both smell that way and not smell that way at the same time to the same person, and surely it either does or it doesn t. But as we ve seen, some interpretations of quantum mechanics might suggest adding in a new value.1 Perhaps Copenhagen style interpretations indicate that we should have a value of neither a truth value gap and Copenhagen and many worlds interpretations indicate that we should have a value of both: a truth value glut. 2 As it happens, there are independent philosophical reasons to explore three or four valued logics (and ... Drakou et al. categorize the existing tools into three broad categories, including data cataloguers, toolkits that allow one to model ecosystem service flows for a site, and a combination of both that are custom for specific region. Turbulent Flow Essay MM4TTF: Introduction to Turbulence and Turbulent Flows Case Study 1: Turbulent Boundary Layer Structure Turbulent coherent structures are flow patterns that can be distinguished from each other, as opposed to motions such as eddies which are subject to the phenomenon of superpositioning. Several of these occur in the near wall region: Low speed streaks refer to the regions of relatively slow flow spaced out in a pronounced manner. They generally occur between the legs of hairpin vortices, where flow is displaced upward from the surfaces so that it convects low momentum fluid away from the wall. [2]. Streaks have been found to occur in the sublayer region by Kline and Runstandler (1959)[1] and have been shown to occur at a distance of y+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another type of coherent structure are rolls , which are pairs of counter rotating streamwise vortices that are the dominant vertical structures in the near wall region defined by y+ 100 [2]. They account for streak production also, as the fluid being pushed outwards between the rolls has reduced axial velocity, creating a velocity profile which is inviscidly unstable, and also associate with bursting and lift up. Bursting may be described as a characteristic behaviour of the low speed streaks. It generally refers to the whole process of a streak undergoing lift up from near the wall, beginning to oscillate, and subsequently undergoing break up and ejection Firstly the streaks slowly begin moving downstream and drifting outwards; this is the process known as lift up . After the streak reaches a distance of around y+ = 8 12, it begins to rapidly oscillate, which increases in amplitude as outflow progresses. This ends in a sudden breakup, generally when y+ is between 10 30. After breakup, the streak lifts away from the wall by a vigorous and chaotic motion. This process ejects low speed fluid into a region of the boundary layer with a faster streamwise velocity. [3]. This process of bursting can be shown graphically, with a representation of a dye streak in a turbulent boundary layer; a typical example is shown below: The pressure gradient has been observed to have an effect on the bursting phenomenon; it has been observed that a positive ... Based on the non robust test, we then can confirm that the variables are independent and uncorrelated, which satisfies the easing assumption to state the model is consistent. 7.Criticism Referring to Figure 6.2.3 and 6.3.3, it was proven that our model has problems that the sample data used does not represent the whole population. Therefore, this is one of the flaws in our research. A more constructive suggestion to eliminate this problem would be to extend the research with a larger sample size with longer time horizon. And if the sample size is large enough, the time series issue can be neglected. Another issue might arise by the determination of explanatory variables. As we follow the facesheet from Morningstar (2011) to choose our explanatory variables as a symbol of the defensive sectors and cyclical sectors, it is possible that the category of sectors is incorrect. Without the support of academic journals, the facesheet might be purely based on analysts opinions instead of facts. By estimating wrong explanatory variables, the findings will become ... Traditional ETL process 3.1 Traditional ETL During ETL process, data from many sources will be extracted and integrated into data warehouse periodically. Extraction is a process to identified and retrieve all relevant data from the sources. The role of transformation is to cleansing the data and integrated different schema to defined schema in data warehouse. Meanwhile, loading is a process to physically move the data from operational system to data warehouse. 3.1.1 ETL Concept It is necessary to define ETL scope by analyzing each target table (its dimension and facts) at the beginning of ETL architecture process. It is necessary to fetch the behavior of each target table; where its source is and what kind of business process that depend on it. 3.1.1.1. Metadata In the early development of data warehouse, integration is formed by making specific ETL program for the structure of source database and data warehouse database. As the time passed by, it is found that those specific ETL programs essentially are doing the same process. Many block programs are reusable for another ETL process. At this point, ETL tools that can do automated data integration to data warehouse are developed. To put it briefly, metadata is data about data. Specially, metadata ETL is data about ETL process. Defining metadata ETL is necessary to build ETL program with high reusability . 3.1.1.2. Extraction Extraction identifies all relevant sources, then extract the data as efficiently as ... • 55. The Ways Of Human Life Life can be expressed in many different ways. It can be be expressed through song or word. But life in general is all expressed by human beings the same way; by living, people express who they are and what they stand for. People express their lives day by day without even knowing. People are all born, people all live, and people all die. But the things in between are what make life yours. This is how people live; this is how people exist. Thornton Wilder expresses the ways of humanlife and existence in Our Town, and these perspectives can be linked into other poems, songs, or movies. In Lucinda Matlock, Masters says this line that seems to tie into the ways of human life: And then I found David. Life is just happening and along the way, you can meet people who change your life completely. They can steal your heart and change your life and you as a person. It is very crazy of how one single person can just come in and change your life like that, but it happens all the time. It can happen anytime, anywhere. This can relate this back to Our Town by the scene where George and Emily are in the ice cream parlor. They had been neighbors forever but had never seen each other in any other way. But in that day, they went from just friends to being in love. After that, their lives were entirely different. I m just an ordinary person. And that s OK. This is a quote from Hope Floats. This means that you have to love and accept yourself to be able to live life to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
