When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Mourn When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, one of Walt
Whitman s most popular poems was written to show his private mourning over President Lincoln s
death, in a public way. Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national grief, and so he
tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by writing this poem
(Rollyson). Whitman, drawn to the idea of a president that would emerge from the frontier west,
admired Lincoln more than most (Kreidler). His devastation by the loss of President Lincoln, coming
from his belief[s] and fervent admiration, can be seen in When Lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom s,
but more notably in his most popular work, O Captain! My Captain! (Kreidler). In writing, When
Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d Whitman showed his true colors and took a highly personal note
into his poetry, as well as incorporated symbols to describe the depth his and the nation s desolation.
In When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom, Whitman uses symbols to express the nations, as well as
his own, deep private mourning over President Lincoln s death in a public way. Whitman s young life
gives reason to this poem, as well as adding to its overall tragic story. He was born in 1819 in West
Hills, Long Island, the second of nine kids; he was one of the few to be born in sound mental and
physical condition. While Whitman isn t the most

Creating a shared vision A vision of the project unites professionals with different backgrounds and
agendas to a common aspiration. It helps motivate members to subordinate their individual agendas
and do what is best for the project (Gray Larson, 2006, p. 356). As Amber Briggs creates her team, a
shared vision is an essential part of creating a great anniversary celebration. After all, if some
members envision a picnic at the park while others envision a black tie, sit down dinner at the Ritz, the
road back from either extreme will be long and troublesome. An effective vision must be challenging
but realistic, and a source of inspiration to others. It must be a vision that the project manager is
passionate about and can communicate to others. The University of Maryland created such a vision for
its 150th anniversary celebration. Once agreed upon and put in writing, the vision became part of
every team meeting and the activities of every department on campus. In a sense, the project vision
was a statement of the shared goals of the coordinating committee, but it was also the source of
inspiration and continued excitement about the 150th anniversary through the months of celebratory
activities. The vision statement inspired the theme logo and each of the events

Aerial vehicle is also known as drone. It s an aircraft without a human pilot on it mostly under control
of the American government. Its flight pattern is organized either autonomously by computer systems
or by remote control from ground base or some other vehicle. The typical launch and recovery/landing
method of a UAV is monitored by an exterior on the ground. In the beginning, UAVs were simple
unmanned aerial vehicles to which remote control came gradually which advanced to autonomous
control which is increasingly being employed. Though it can be used for various useful purposes, they
are usually deployed for military and special operation, but also used in a small but growing number

discover insurgents and potential ambushes the next block up. UAVs are especially useful because
they can fly for days at a time. Past the military provisions of UAVs with which drones got to be most

acrobatic aerial footage in filmmaking, inquiry and salvage operations, assessing force lines and

The First Ten Days Of College Essay
The first ten days of college are some other experience. When I arrived on campus for the Eagle
Incentive Program it was in the high nighties with some humidity. Moving in wasn t that bad, it was
just extremely hot. I was breaking a sweat walking up and down the Southern Pines stairs. The next
day was time to say goodbye to my family. After giving my mom a big warm hug and a kiss goodbye,
seeing them leave was a weird feeling. As I walked up the stairs to head back in my room the feeling
really crossed my mind that I wasn t going to see her again for another five weeks. It was an emotional
few seconds saying goodbye, but I knew my mom was proud of my accomplishments that I achieved.
Motived to work hard and make her even more of a proud mother; my sad emotions soon turned into
happy thoughts.
Well, it was not long before my mom was disappointed in me. My first week here I actually got
myself in debt and my parents were furious at me. They told me in a serious tone that if that ever
happens again, I will have to make myself money. Money management has already gotten me by the
tail. Back at home, I could spend money here and there because I had a job and was getting paid
weekly. Unemployed now because of moving to Statesboro, I only get 35$ put on my debit card a
week. My spending that week was on three meals from Zaxbys and my money was gone. Thirty five
dollars may seem like a lot, but it flies by in college. In an article on usnews.com it states Talking to

James Thurber-Humor in Fiction
James Thurber was one of the most influential and unforgettable writers of his kind. He made modern
day problems seem preventable in the minds of people, and he tried to make them realize that the
problems had to have a source. Thurber wrote of people struggling with day to day life that was once
trouble free and drew his ideas of humanity losing the direction it once had in the past. He attributed
this change to wandering minds and ignorant actions on man s behalf. James Thurber used his artistic
and creative abilities to make a point of human shortcomings through ingenious writings and comical
sketches. James Oliver Thurber, a satirical, Ohio born writer, was born in Columbus on December 8,
1894. Thurber wrote of himself that he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Thurber s choice ways of communicating with the masses was through writing magazine
articles, short stories, essays, and children s books. His uncanny take on his writing usually brought
laughter and enjoyment to its readers with descriptions of wild and ridiculous events being his number
one source of absurdity. Among them were Many Moons, a story of a daughter of royalty who refused
to make herself better after overeating until she was given the moon, and The Wonderful O, the tale of
a pirate who travels to the island of Ooroo to find jewels. When the pirate leaves empty handed, he
banishes all words containing the letter o. The moral to the fairy tale was words containing that vowel
were vital in the world and among the necessary words was freedom (Morsberger Suppl. 1:612).
When it came to more important matters, Thurber had the views of many of today s modern thinkers,
and it was reflected in his work. He saw the human as more harmful than helpful to the world as a
whole. In his Interview with a Lemming, the creature being interrogated by a scientist calls humans
murderous, maladjusted, maleficent, malicious, and muffle headed. The scientist proceeds to tell him
that he agrees with the observation, but he can not seem to understand why lemmings hurry to the sea
to drown themselves. The lemming curtly replies, How curious. The one thing I don t understand is
why you humans don t (Morsberger Suppl. 1:603). His take on

Afton Drug Analysis
In September of 2016 an Afton Central School Junior overdosed on cold medicine; during school
hours in the bathroom. After coming home from the hospital the 16 year old student was sent to a
rehabilitation facility in Syracuse, NY (Martin, 2016). It also brought attention that it is not only
illegal substances being used to obtain a high; it can be over the counter medicines sold at the local
gas station. This is just one of the known overdoses that has received media attention. I interviewed
one of the local gas station attendants in Afton T.C, whom informed me that she needed to call an
ambulance one evening, because a teenage boy had been using heroin in the restroom, causing him to
pass out and hit his head. (Personal Communication, 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There is one hardware store, Horton Hardware. There are three restaurants an Italian Pizzeria, a grill
and bakery, and a family style diner. There is a 5 10 store, which is similar to a family dollar directly
next to the NBT bank on Main Street. There are two bars, which do not open until after 4pm. There
are also two hair salons, and attached to one of the salons is a tattoo and piercing shop. Almost all of
the shops and restaurants are family owned and managed. There is no bus stop, or public
transportation inside of Afton, if you do not have your own means of transportation everywhere will
have to be reached on foot. Afton seems like the literal definition of small town USA.
Something surprising in the small town of Afton is the tattoo and piercing shop. It is not expected in a
small mainly Christian town. Within the village of Afton there are seven churches for different
Christian religions. With such a small population in a Christian based town, one would not think that a
tattoo and piercing shop would make enough business to remain open, also stereotypically the
Christian faith frowns upon body modification. Also with most of the economy being based around
farming it does not appear that the town would draw in business for the

Presentation script Bibliography
Monday 20th April
Hello, as you all may know my names Ami Watson.
Today s presentation will offer you an insight into my exploration of dreams and the influences they
offer our creative stimulus in response to photography.
Throughout this presentation I aim to offer you all an insight into the world of surrealism and dreams.
Firstly I will introduce you to the surrealist movement and some relevant themes with surrealist art.
Then explore the defined states of consciousness, moving into explaining what a dream is. Next will
be a brief touch on what influences visual stimulating tools have upon art, flowing through to
surrealism and dreams. Here I will talk about the contrasting views of the surrealist and Freudian
opinions of dream definition and expression.
After I will produce a few artists who have used dreams to influence their creativity within bodies of
work, each using different aspects of dreams as a tool. And to wrap up my exploration I will produce
my conclusion on the matter and express how this body of research has influenced me within my own
photography. Thank you for listening, I hope you enjoy.
Introduction to the surrealist movement
Surrealism is a 20th century movement in art and literature that sought to unlock the creative potential
of the unconscious mind, for example by the juxtaposition of

Theories About The Etruscans
The Etruscans were a people steeped in mystery that thrived in Tuscany, most of the information we
have about the Etruscans are from indirect sources, either from Roman historians, the same Roman
historians that helped erase most of Etruscan culture, or Ancient Greek historians who some believe
didn t culturally grasp the different cultural values of their society. There is no concrete theory of
where the Etruscans originated but they lived between the 7th and 3rd centuries BC. An mtDNA study
completed in 2013 stated that the Etruscans were most likely an indigenous population. Another study
completed six years earlier in 2007, hypothesized that they showed no similarities genetically to
specimens from the near east, which vaguely could disprove one of the two most popular theories
about the Etruscans heritage. Regarding the Etruscans there are two theories that hint towards who
they were, and where they came from. The most accepted theory on their origin essentially states that
the Etruscans were native to Italy and had been there for a considerable ... Show more content on

Numerous things point towards this theory being correct. Firstly, the originality of the Etruscan
language and manner of living were so great that historians hypothesize that they were so different
than languages and manners of living that they couldn t have hailed from a different culture. Bonfante,
a historian, stated in 2002 as follows ...the history of the Etruscan people extends ... from c. 1200 to c.
100 BC. Many sites of the chief Etruscan cities of historical times were continuously occupied from
the Iron Age Villanovan period on. Much confusion would have been avoided if archaeologists had
used the name Proto Etruscan .... For in fact the people ... did not appear suddenly. Nor did they
suddenly start to speak Etruscan. Another elaboration of the theory states that the Etruscans formed in

Corrie Ten Boom Of The Holocaust
Corrie Ten Boom is the daughter of a popular watchmaker and christian living in Holland during the
beginning of Hitler, the Nazis, and hatred against Jews. The Ten Boom s, however, always do the right
thing and help anyone in need. Before their mother died, their household was always full of poor
neighbors needing food or tea or anything else they could provide. This kindness continues into the
beginning of the Holocaust. Corrie begins to join an underground system, involved with helping and
sheltering Jews. At first, she was just trying to get some to different places where they would be safe,
however. Corrie got so involved that the watch shop, called the Beje. became the center. She had
monthly deliveries of food ration card, new Jews would show up to her door almost weekly, and the
rest of the people involved in the underground had a secret code or phone calls, revolving around
watch talk. Eventually, Corrie could not find a place or a man, so he ended up living with the Ten
Booms. They ended building a secret room with an elaborate warning system installed. They had
many Jews living in that room, but little did she know that the entire town knew of her work in the
underground and o the Jews in her house. Corrie ended up being caught and taken to prison, along
with her father and sister. Corrie kept her with all this time, which helped her make it through.

The World Trade Center Of The United States
On September 11th, 2001, terrorism reached American soil; attacks were specifically made on Lower
Manhattan, causing the destruction of every World Trade Center associated building. The attack to this
day has still instilled fear of terrorism in our society, and is an event New Yorkers will never forget.
Dating back to July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in the United States,
declaring the thirteen colonies free from Great Britain. It is no coincidence that the new 1 WTC,
previously known as the Freedom Tower, reaches its maximum height of 1,776 feet. The name
Freedom Tower was originally used to symbolize America as a nation to rise above the attacks on the
original towers. Architectures strategically planned out its symbolic height to match up with its
specific chosen name of the building. However, the owners decided to change the building name back
to One World Trade Center due to the fact that the building was going to be used as an office building
and not for marketing. Nonetheless, many people still refer to 1 WTC as the Freedom Tower. Fast
forward ten years later from the attack, on September 11th, 2011, the 9/11 Memorial officially opened
for public use. The 9/11 Memorial has not only been one of New York s biggest tourist destinations
that attracts crowds of thousands on a daily basis, but it has also acted as an area that brings back
many memories and emotions for those with any association of that day. With the history of the

by working with a spirit or a soul, using mother nature such as rocks, trees, and the nutrients the earth
has provided along with the knowledge and information that is passed down from generation to

Examples Of Blockbuster
Theory 3
There are some routes and paths that must not be taken. There are some armies and troops that must
not be assaulted. Although some of the routes and paths may looks advantageous to us, it should not
be taken lightly. This is because there might be some ambushes that cannot be found or detected
easily. If the decision is not made cautiously, troubles or loss may be incurred instead of gaining the
desired advantages. In other words, do not judge a book by its cover. Besides that, something that
seems like a benefit may be also a trap set by the enemy or competitor. If someone walks into the trap
looking for benefit, then his or her benefit could be taken away instead. This theory was applied by
Blockbuster, which was once a very popular video rental company. The Chief Executive Officer of
Blockbuster, Jim Keyes, was interested in enhancing their retail business by purchasing Circuit City,
an electronic retailer company (Eaton, 2008). Therefore, he made an offer to ... Show more content on

carefully and making their decision wisely. At the time when the offer is announced to the public,
many opinions from analysts flooded in, with majority agreeing that the offer is bad (Jacobs and Paul,
2008). They are lucky enough to found the problems before it is too late. Although Keyes had a

Persephone Demeter Hades
Hades, Persephone, and Demeter are all mythological characters referenced for evil, the beauty of the
earth, and fruitfulness of our planet. Hades strong lust for Persephone drove him to capture her, while
Demeter, her mother, sought to protect her. Considering what they symbolise, people today continue to

According to the Greek mythology Hades, the unseen Greek god of the underworld, intrigued by the

Conflict Resolution as Per Dewey
Throughout one s life, one establishes many relationships. Some are built upon, and become strong
and unshakable, some are broken and left to dissolve. While some are paved slowly and with love,
blossoming to become something wonderful, others are blown apart the pieces scattered, never to be
put back together again. Though these relationships vary, from professional to personal, they are all
prone to encountering some form of conflict. John Dewey has designed a problem solving sequence
with 6 (six) steps, listed and explained below, to facilitate resolution of these conflicts.
Since the way one deals with conflict within the relationship will affect how the relationship

A decision can also be reached through the process of majority rules . Though this process is a fairer
one it must be performed by a small group, and not two individuals. Since George and Max are co
owners, and there is no leader among them, they will be using the consensus method for their decision
making. In this type of method, a unanimous decision must be reached, therefor all parties must be in

George and Max have decided to combine the student special with the music nights. This causes little

After a solution has been identified and selected, a test should be made to ensure it s effectiveness.
This can be done through polling, analyzing, and other methods of collecting data.

Examples Of Greed In King Lear
Appalling acts of greed, horrendous acts of betrayal, and unchanging accounts of stubbornness weave
throughout the entirety of the play King Lear. With heinous acts and equally despicable characters,
King Lear flourishes with dramatic irony and tragedy. However, though the play King Lear is written
as a tragedy, Shakespeare still manages to manifest a plethora of valuable life lessons within the play.
Some of the life lessons learned in the play King Lear prove that loved ones can betray, greed can lead
to despicable acts, and stubbornness can lead to irrational acts.
According to Sparknotes, Betrayal plays a critical role in the play and shows the workings of
wickedness in both the familial and political realms ( King ). With children ... Show more content on

When Lear becomes angry with Goneril s servants and demands to talk to his daughter, Goneril
announces that she is sick and, therefore, cannot speak with Lear. When Goneril sees Lear seeking
comfort rather than reprimanding, she immediately orders that he cut the number of his servants,
thereby diminishing his power. By trying to gain more power and diminish her father s, Goneril shows
familial betrayal.
Though Goneril beautifully portrays familial betrayal in King Lear, Gloucester s illegitimate son
Edmund also portrays familial betrayal. For instance, in Act I, Scene II, Edmund hatches a plan to
frame his older brother Edgar. Edmund forges a letter that reads,
This policy and reverence of age makes the world bitter to the best of our times; keeps our fortunes
from us till our oldness cannot relish them. I begin to find an idle and fond bondage in the oppression
of aged tyranny; who sways, not as it hath power, but as it is suffered. Come to me, that of this I may

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Symbolism Essay
Everyone has dreamt about a utopia, my utopia is a place where the sun is shining, there is occasional
rain. But the rain brings lollipops and gumdrops, they gently fall to the ground. Unicorns are running
wildly and freely. In my utopia, everyone is happy and everything is perfect. Unfortunately, we do not
live in a perfect world and neither did the people of Omelas. Ursula Le Guin explores many concepts
in her short story, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas (1973), like ethics, selfishness and self
preservation. She uses symbolism to challenge our own ethical beliefs and also explores the grey area
of good versus evil. The story takes place in Omelas, a utopian city near the beach; it is the summer
festival, a time where everyone is much happier than usual. Children are free to do as they please and
adults are on their boats or enjoying the horse races, while a child is locked in a room slowly rotting
away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As humans, we should be compassionate. When we buy products that harm animals or blood
diamonds from Africa without prior knowledge is one thing, we can then correct our mistake. That is
not all we should do, if everyone chooses to stand by and avoid the problem, nothing would get done.
If we know something unethical and inhumane is happening, we have an ethical responsibility to do
something about it. It should not matter whether it affects us or not, if that was us wouldn t we want
something done about it? If today, a social worker saw her sister s children being abused but the child
did not want to be removed from the home, she or he has an ethical and mandated responsibility to
report the situation to someone. We as humans, should also have an ethical responsibility to help one
another. The relationship between the social worker and sibling should not matter, even if it destroys
the relationship, ethics should come

Analysis Of Primo Levi s Book Survival In Auschwitz
Primo Levi describes in his book, Survival in Auschwitz, the horrors inflicted upon the prisoners
contained within Auschwitz and their struggle to remain themselves and to survive within the camp.
The sign placed at the entrance of Auschwitz read the words, Arbeit Macht Frei , or Work Gives
Freedom , an ironic statement considering the Nazis took everything away from these individuals that
constitutes established human rights and freedom. Without the elements that make up a human being,
there was limited freedom for the prisoners. What are the possible meanings of Arbeit Macht Frei ,
and could the prisoners obtain any freedom ? While the freedoms of the prisoners were limited in
Auschwitz, Primo Levi shows in his book, Survival in Auschwitz , that the prisoners could gain a
sense of freedom through hope of release, death, or mental suppression. First, it would be very helpful
to this paper to describe the ways that Nazis deprived the individuals in the concentration camp of
their freedom. The Nazis main goal was to completely exterminate the Jews, and if one was a Jew, the
Nazis discriminated against them and either transported the Jews to a concentration camp or to a
crematorium. Upon transportation, the Nazis ripped everything away from the individuals that made
them human loved ones, food, hair, personal belongings, clothing, shoes, security, full bellies, rested

Dreams And Dreams Are Important Or Meaningless Essay
Dreams have been around since the beginning of time. There is often controversy over whether or not
dreams are important or meaningless. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and
have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different
interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind (Loftus Ketcham). Dreams
can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality.
Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little
shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is common in all these dreams is
obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are
simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or
wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they
are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s
reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be
extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes
into action. Many people find it hard to believe that when they have a dream over and over again that
it does not mean anything. These types of dreams are called recurring dreams. Recurring dreams

Bad Relationships In Someone Like You
Causes of Bad Relationship
A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most obvious
example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect, but a gradual
development.
It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one
person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart,
body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short
term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to
coordination problem.
Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying
Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy
+ passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and
they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He
never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship
continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it
easily.
The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ...

An anonymous speaker once said, Children are great imitators. So give them something great to

many. Individuals who feel babysitting is effortless rarely consider that the babysitter must often take

Not to mention, if the sitter must make supper, this gives the sitter new ideas of what to fix or order
for the night. After this, depending on the night, the babysitter should see if the children have any

them if they need help. This is an important step to make sure the young ones know they can go to
their guardian if they have an issue. This will also help create a bond between the babysitter and
young ones. This will show the parents how responsible someone can be a positive influence. Also, it
is important to note that the sitter should make sure to not get frustrated with the children and always
give warnings before any disciplinary action is made. The fourth step of babysitting is asking the
young ones what they would like to do for the night. It is important to the children know that they
have options for the night and it will not be boring for them. Some kids do not have someone to hang

Essay on Critical Circumstances of the Vietnam War
CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VIETNAM WAR
The Vietnam War was a cold war that spanned from 1956 to the fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975. It
can be seen that the end result of the Vietnam War tainted America s image through its failure to
demolish the Vietnamese Communist Government . It should be noted that many years before
America was directly involved with the war, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were under French colonial
rule where the Việt Minh (the communist nationalist independence coalition) spent many years
fighting for freedom from the French. In 1959 the Geneva Conference permitted the foremost powers
to come to an agreement on Indochina which would temporarily divide Vietnam at the 17th parallel.

VIETNAMESE INSIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES During the Vietnam War the Northern part of
Vietnam was controlled by the Việt Minh while also being supported by communist China and Russia.
The Novel, The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam, written by Bao Ninh, does not heavily
emphasize the political position of the North solely, but tells the tale of a Vietnam soldier who has
lived through war, who happens to be fighting for the North s cause. Kien, the main character,
attempts to comfort both his personal and national losses through recounting experiences by compiling
a memoir, while also exploring the causes of anguish behind the war. A recurring theme in the novel is
the idea of people who fight in the war and people who become affected by the war both share a heavy
burden of trauma and suffering. As the story unfolds, Kien recalls his position as a platoon
commander responsible for collecting corpses, but then turns in for the night on a hammock on a
transport truck very close to the edges of The Jungle of Screaming Souls. Being a survivor of many
gruesome battles within this jungle, Kien suddenly begins to suffer from vivid flashbacks of his time
fighting. He also recalls the desperation of him and his comrades, who would consume

Literary Analysis Of Classical Landscape By Charles Sheeler
Classical landscape by Charles Sheeler is an exterior oil on canvas of the Estate of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford,
Grosse Pointe Farms (figure 1) filled with deep, hidden irony. It was painted in 1931, and is based on
a watercolor study. It s a calm, clean, and serene painting that takes your breath away. It s depicting a
place someone would want to be in, a place where things get done, and a place where one can go to
achieve this idea of the American dream. Charles Sheeler used American industry as a major theme of
his art, his work lends itself to an analysis in terms of geometric forms he examines his subject matter
so closely in order to fully understand the composition, the effect, and the design he wants to depict.
Sheeler painted the plant s exterior as an idyll, a beautiful, picturesque scene of the industrial age
booming; however, in reality the United States was in the middle of the worst years of the Great
Depression. Therefore, this painting done in Sheeler s hyper realistic artistic style is not actually
depicting what the factory actually looked like.
He is using his photographs to distort and change the perspective in order to better suit his patrons.
Charles s Sheeler is a commissioned artist. Classical Landscape was commissioned by Edsel Ford in
order to promote the Ford Company and increase the overall feelings toward industrialization . Sheeler
achieved this due to Classical Landscapes light color palette, clean lines, reduced forms, and intense
knowledge of the subject matter, his painting only hints at the machines domination of humankind ,
allowing for viewers to look at the painting and feel comforted by the lack of human presence but not
overwhelmed by it. Sheeler s depiction of industrialization lacked human presence. This was
uncommon at the time, and created a very different effect than other artists did. He focused on the
building in isolation rather than on the hectic activity around the assembly line this switched the focus
form not on the people of America but on the technological advances and the progress America was
making. Looking further into the painting s subject matter, it is intriguing to see that Sheeler chose to
depict something on cite that dealt with the

The Process Of Patient Assessment
DIABETES ASSESSMENT TOOLS The process of patient assessment is an integral part in the
development of education and plans of care. Because diabetes is largely a self managed disease,
education is key to patient success. The process of providing diabetes self management education
(DSME) may be facilitated by a variety of healthcare professionals, including nurses, dietitians,
pharmacists, physicians, mental health professionals, optometrists, podiatrists, and exercise
physiologists. Diabetes is a multifaceted, chronic disease that impacts body systems specific to each of
the disciplines (AADE, 2011). Single and multidisciplinary tools exist to facilitate the process of
effective patient assessment. Examples of these will be explored to identify strengths and
opportunities for improvement.
In an ideal setting DSME is provided by a multidisciplinary team, which allows the patient the
benefits of an array of expertise and perspective (AADE, 2011). While most patients benefit from this
approach, some may be averse to working with multiple team members and a single person on the
team may end up being the primary resource. It should also be noted that, not all patients have access
to a multidisciplinary team due to rural settings or barriers with insurance coverage. In these
situations, patients may receive care from a single healthcare professional that, with proper training
and mentorship from peers in other disciplines, can effectively provide education and support.

Essay On Vitiligo
The term vitiligo is derived from the latin word vitelius meaning calf . The white patches of the

The disease will happen to people because the melanocytes that make pigment in the skin are

The Constitution Of The Founding Fathers Of This Country...
Under the precepts of the Founding Fathers of this country, we are ruled by this fluid document
formally known as the Constitution. One that advances, changes after some time, and acclimates to fit
the present state of affairs, without being authoritatively amended. It can be revised; however, the
change procedure is exceptionally troublesome. The most imperative changes were added to the
Constitution right around a century and a half back, in the wake of the Civil War, and since that time a
large portion of the revisions have managed generally minor matters.
In the interim, the world has changed in boundless ways. The country has developed in domain and its
populace has duplicated a few times over. Innovation has changed, the worldwide status quo has
changed, the economy has changed, social norms have transformed, all in ways that nobody could
have anticipated when the Constitution was conscripted. Also, it is simply not reasonable to expect the
unwieldy amendment process to remain cognizant of these progressions. Consequently, it appears to
be unavoidable that the Constitution will change, as well. It is something to be thankful for, in light of
the fact that a perpetual Constitution would not positively impact and aid the general public. It is
possible that it would disregard or, more terrible, it would be a block, a relic that keeps us from
launching new dimensions and hinders our forward mobility.
Then again, there are numerous justifications to question the

Social Costs Of Smoking Cigarettes
Introduction
The overall economic costs of smoking cigarettes has become somewhat of an epidemic in society for
a variety of reasons. It includes numerous private and social costs. The private cost to smokers goes
far beyond the price of cigarettes alone. Smokers also pay with their health, life, and finances.
Alongside the great cost to smokers, they enjoy benefits to the same degree. The total cost of smoking
not only effects smokers, but society as well. The externalities from smoking are both negative and
positive. Society bears the burden of the negative externalities, or social costs, both physically and
monetarily. The positive externalities, or social benefits, play a significant economic role in society.

they are at a high risk for disease and premature death. Although these costs are high, smokers do reap

cigarettes creates a physical dependence while the act of lighting up and smoking creates a
psychological dependence. A smoker benefits from the positive reinforcement that comes from both
the physical and psychological effects of smoking. Smokers are also influenced by

Summary Of The Dooryard Bloom Austin Reed Rattan World Lit. 4332.08 April 10, 2015 When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Mourn When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, one of Walt Whitman s most popular poems was written to show his private mourning over President Lincoln s death, in a public way. Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national grief, and so he tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by writing this poem (Rollyson). Whitman, drawn to the idea of a president that would emerge from the frontier west, admired Lincoln more than most (Kreidler). His devastation by the loss of President Lincoln, coming from his belief[s] and fervent admiration, can be seen in When Lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom s, but more notably in his most popular work, O Captain! My Captain! (Kreidler). In writing, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d Whitman showed his true colors and took a highly personal note into his poetry, as well as incorporated symbols to describe the depth his and the nation s desolation. In When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom, Whitman uses symbols to express the nations, as well as his own, deep private mourning over President Lincoln s death in a public way. Whitman s young life gives reason to this poem, as well as adding to its overall tragic story. He was born in 1819 in West Hills, Long Island, the second of nine kids; he was one of the few to be born in sound mental and physical condition. While Whitman isn t the most ... Creating a shared vision A vision of the project unites professionals with different backgrounds and agendas to a common aspiration. It helps motivate members to subordinate their individual agendas and do what is best for the project (Gray Larson, 2006, p. 356). As Amber Briggs creates her team, a shared vision is an essential part of creating a great anniversary celebration. After all, if some members envision a picnic at the park while others envision a black tie, sit down dinner at the Ritz, the road back from either extreme will be long and troublesome. An effective vision must be challenging but realistic, and a source of inspiration to others. It must be a vision that the project manager is passionate about and can communicate to others. The University of Maryland created such a vision for its 150th anniversary celebration. Once agreed upon and put in writing, the vision became part of every team meeting and the activities of every department on campus. In a sense, the project vision was a statement of the shared goals of the coordinating committee, but it was also the source of inspiration and continued excitement about the 150th anniversary through the months of celebratory activities. • 5. The First Ten Days Of College Essay The first ten days of college are some other experience. When I arrived on campus for the Eagle Incentive Program it was in the high nighties with some humidity. Moving in wasn t that bad, it was just extremely hot. I was breaking a sweat walking up and down the Southern Pines stairs. The next day was time to say goodbye to my family. After giving my mom a big warm hug and a kiss goodbye, seeing them leave was a weird feeling. As I walked up the stairs to head back in my room the feeling really crossed my mind that I wasn t going to see her again for another five weeks. It was an emotional few seconds saying goodbye, but I knew my mom was proud of my accomplishments that I achieved. Motived to work hard and make her even more of a proud mother; my sad emotions soon turned into happy thoughts. Well, it was not long before my mom was disappointed in me. My first week here I actually got myself in debt and my parents were furious at me. They told me in a serious tone that if that ever happens again, I will have to make myself money. Money management has already gotten me by the tail. Back at home, I could spend money here and there because I had a job and was getting paid weekly. Unemployed now because of moving to Statesboro, I only get 35$ put on my debit card a week. My spending that week was on three meals from Zaxbys and my money was gone. He made modern day problems seem preventable in the minds of people, and he tried to make them realize that the problems had to have a source. Thurber wrote of people struggling with day to day life that was once trouble free and drew his ideas of humanity losing the direction it once had in the past. He attributed this change to wandering minds and ignorant actions on man s behalf. James Thurber used his artistic and creative abilities to make a point of human shortcomings through ingenious writings and comical sketches. One of Thurber s choice ways of communicating with the masses was through writing magazine articles, short stories, essays, and children s books. His uncanny take on his writing usually brought laughter and enjoyment to its readers with descriptions of wild and ridiculous events being his number one source of absurdity. Among them were Many Moons, a story of a daughter of royalty who refused to make herself better after overeating until she was given the moon, and The Wonderful O, the tale of a pirate who travels to the island of Ooroo to find jewels. When the pirate leaves empty handed, he banishes all words containing the letter o. The moral to the fairy tale was words containing that vowel were vital in the world and among the necessary words was freedom (Morsberger Suppl. 1:612). When it came to more important matters, Thurber had the views of many of today s modern thinkers, and it was reflected in his work. There is no concrete theory of where the Etruscans originated but they lived between the 7th and 3rd centuries BC. An mtDNA study completed in 2013 stated that the Etruscans were most likely an indigenous population. The World Trade Center Of The United States On September 11th, 2001, terrorism reached American soil; attacks were specifically made on Lower Manhattan, causing the destruction of every World Trade Center associated building. The attack to this day has still instilled fear of terrorism in our society, and is an event New Yorkers will never forget. Dating back to July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in the United States, declaring the thirteen colonies free from Great Britain. It is no coincidence that the new 1 WTC, previously known as the Freedom Tower, reaches its maximum height of 1,776 feet. The name Freedom Tower was originally used to symbolize America as a nation to rise above the attacks on the original towers. Architectures strategically planned out its symbolic height to match up with its specific chosen name of the building. However, the owners decided to change the building name back to One World Trade Center due to the fact that the building was going to be used as an office building and not for marketing. Nonetheless, many people still refer to 1 WTC as the Freedom Tower. Fast forward ten years later from the attack, on September 11th, 2011, the 9/11 Memorial officially opened for public use. Although some of the routes and paths may looks advantageous to us, it should not be taken lightly. This is because there might be some ambushes that cannot be found or detected easily. If someone walks into the trap looking for benefit, then his or her benefit could be taken away instead. This theory was applied by Blockbuster, which was once a very popular video rental company. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind (Loftus Ketcham). Dreams can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality. Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is common in all these dreams is obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart, body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to coordination problem. Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy + passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it easily. The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 31. Essay on Critical Circumstances of the Vietnam War CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VIETNAM WAR The Vietnam War was a cold war that spanned from 1956 to the fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975. It can be seen that the end result of the Vietnam War tainted America s image through its failure to demolish the Vietnamese Communist Government . It should be noted that many years before America was directly involved with the war, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were under French colonial rule where the Việt Minh (the communist nationalist independence coalition) spent many years fighting for freedom from the French. In 1959 the Geneva Conference permitted the foremost powers to come to an agreement on Indochina which would temporarily divide Vietnam at the 17th parallel. Going forward, the country ... This examination hopes to place further clarity on the positions of both the Americans and the Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War, while also providing additional insight behind living through the war experience. VIETNAMESE INSIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES During the Vietnam War the Northern part of Vietnam was controlled by the Việt Minh while also being supported by communist China and Russia. The Novel, The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam, written by Bao Ninh, does not heavily emphasize the political position of the North solely, but tells the tale of a Vietnam soldier who has lived through war, who happens to be fighting for the North s cause. Kien, the main character, attempts to comfort both his personal and national losses through recounting experiences by compiling a memoir, while also exploring the causes of anguish behind the war. A recurring theme in the novel is the idea of people who fight in the war and people who become affected by the war both share a heavy burden of trauma and suffering. As the story unfolds, Kien recalls his position as a platoon commander responsible for collecting corpses, but then turns in for the night on a hammock on a transport truck very close to the edges of The Jungle of Screaming Souls. Being a survivor of many gruesome battles within this jungle, Kien suddenly begins to suffer from vivid flashbacks of his time fighting. • 32. Literary Analysis Of Classical Landscape By Charles Sheeler Classical landscape by Charles Sheeler is an exterior oil on canvas of the Estate of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford, Grosse Pointe Farms (figure 1) filled with deep, hidden irony. It was painted in 1931, and is based on a watercolor study. It s a calm, clean, and serene painting that takes your breath away. It s depicting a place someone would want to be in, a place where things get done, and a place where one can go to achieve this idea of the American dream. Charles Sheeler used American industry as a major theme of his art, his work lends itself to an analysis in terms of geometric forms he examines his subject matter so closely in order to fully understand the composition, the effect, and the design he wants to depict. Sheeler painted the plant s exterior as an idyll, a beautiful, picturesque scene of the industrial age booming; however, in reality the United States was in the middle of the worst years of the Great Depression. Therefore, this painting done in Sheeler s hyper realistic artistic style is not actually depicting what the factory actually looked like. He is using his photographs to distort and change the perspective in order to better suit his patrons. Charles s Sheeler is a commissioned artist. Classical Landscape was commissioned by Edsel Ford in order to promote the Ford Company and increase the overall feelings toward industrialization . Sheeler achieved this due to Classical Landscapes light color palette, clean lines, reduced forms, and intense knowledge of the subject matter, his painting only hints at the machines domination of humankind , allowing for viewers to look at the painting and feel comforted by the lack of human presence but not overwhelmed by it. Sheeler s depiction of industrialization lacked human presence. This was uncommon at the time, and created a very different effect than other artists did. He focused on the building in isolation rather than on the hectic activity around the assembly line this switched the focus form not on the people of America but on the technological advances and the progress America was making. Looking further into the painting s subject matter, it is intriguing to see that Sheeler chose to depict something on cite that dealt with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Process Of Patient Assessment DIABETES ASSESSMENT TOOLS The process of patient assessment is an integral part in the development of education and plans of care. Because diabetes is largely a self managed disease, education is key to patient success. The process of providing diabetes self management education (DSME) may be facilitated by a variety of healthcare professionals, including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, physicians, mental health professionals, optometrists, podiatrists, and exercise physiologists. Diabetes is a multifaceted, chronic disease that impacts body systems specific to each of the disciplines (AADE, 2011). Single and multidisciplinary tools exist to facilitate the process of effective patient assessment. Examples of these will be explored to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. In an ideal setting DSME is provided by a multidisciplinary team, which allows the patient the benefits of an array of expertise and perspective (AADE, 2011). While most patients benefit from this approach, some may be averse to working with multiple team members and a single person on the team may end up being the primary resource. It should also be noted that, not all patients have access to a multidisciplinary team due to rural settings or barriers with insurance coverage. In these situations, patients may receive care from a single healthcare professional that, with proper training and mentorship from peers in other disciplines, can effectively provide education and support. ... The Treaty of Campo Formio was soon signed by the French and the Austrians, granting a large amount of land to France and presenting their supremacy to the rest of Europe. • 39. The Constitution Of The Founding Fathers Of This Country... Under the precepts of the Founding Fathers of this country, we are ruled by this fluid document formally known as the Constitution. One that advances, changes after some time, and acclimates to fit the present state of affairs, without being authoritatively amended. It can be revised; however, the change procedure is exceptionally troublesome. The most imperative changes were added to the Constitution right around a century and a half back, in the wake of the Civil War, and since that time a large portion of the revisions have managed generally minor matters. In the interim, the world has changed in boundless ways. The country has developed in domain and its populace has duplicated a few times over. Innovation has changed, the worldwide status quo has changed, the economy has changed, social norms have transformed, all in ways that nobody could have anticipated when the Constitution was conscripted. Also, it is simply not reasonable to expect the unwieldy amendment process to remain cognizant of these progressions. Consequently, it appears to be unavoidable that the Constitution will change, as well. It is something to be thankful for, in light of the fact that a perpetual Constitution would not positively impact and aid the general public. It is possible that it would disregard or, more terrible, it would be a block, a relic that keeps us from launching new dimensions and hinders our forward mobility.
