Understanding Coordinate Systems and Projections for ArcGISJohn Schaeffer
Everything you need to know to work with coordinate systems and projecting data in ArcGIS. The presentation starts by explaining the terminology, and then discusses the details you need to know to actually work successfully with coordinate systems, use the proper projections, and geographic transformations. This is a very practical look at a complex subject.
Location. Location. Location. With so many maps and datums out there, how does a person know what datum is correct? How come my GPS coordinates don\'t match up on my map? Why is there a shift of 100 metres? How do I transform between different datums? What is a datum? What is the EPSG? Why have GIS Vendors and Oracle adopted them? Does offshore or onshore make a difference? How come there are so many datums? This presentation looks to provide some answers to some of these questions and to point out that latitude and longitude are not absolute.
Over the decades that surveyors have been trying to map the Earth, history and politics have shaped the way we see the world. Are the borders actually there? What if one nation adopts a standard, but the other does not? Does really matter what the co-ordinate system is? Why when I draw the a UTM Projection, the lines are curved, not in a grid? Is the OGC adopting these standards? So many questions and this presentation aims to answer some of them and provide some light on a complicated and sometimes unclear topic.

Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy that, through cellular respiration, can later be released to fuel the organism's activities.
Students will be able to discuss everything concerns Photosynthesis and its limiting factors. Also they will study the light dependent and light independent reactions by which the plant's food is produced!
This presentation discusses the way energy flows and is distributed all throughout the ecosystem, from one member to another. This details how one organism becomes an essential necessity for another and how abiotic components play their role as supportive elements for life.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.
Essentials of Automations: Optimizing FME Workflows with ParametersSafe Software
Are you looking to streamline your workflows and boost your projects’ efficiency? Do you find yourself searching for ways to add flexibility and control over your FME workflows? If so, you’re in the right place.
Join us for an insightful dive into the world of FME parameters, a critical element in optimizing workflow efficiency. This webinar marks the beginning of our three-part “Essentials of Automation” series. This first webinar is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to utilize parameters effectively: enhancing the flexibility, maintainability, and user control of your FME projects.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
- Essentials of FME Parameters: Understand the pivotal role of parameters, including Reader/Writer, Transformer, User, and FME Flow categories. Discover how they are the key to unlocking automation and optimization within your workflows.
- Practical Applications in FME Form: Delve into key user parameter types including choice, connections, and file URLs. Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

2. Standards
7 1.d. students know that mitochondria liberate energy
from the work that cells do and that chloroplast
capture sunlight energy for photosynthesis.
1.f. students know usable energy is captured from
sunlight by chloroplast and is stored through the
synthesis of sugar from carbon dioxide.
3. What is photosynthesis?
Is the process by
which plants and some
other organisms use
light energy to convert
water and carbon
dioxide into oxygen
and high energy carbon
hydrates such as
sugars and scratches
4. Mitochondria
Cell organelle that converts the chemical energy stored
in food into compounds that are more convenient for
the cell to use
they have two organelles the names are
- outer membrane
- inner membrane
The mitochondria is an organel found in large numbers
of most cells
6. Where does photosynthesis takes
places?
Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast and in
the chlorophyII
ChlorophyII is what gives the leafs the color they are
Also photosynthesis has 2 parts to it:
-- light dependent reaction
-- light independent reactions
7. Light dependent reaction
Chloroplast are organelle that convert light to energy.
The light-dependent reactions take place in the inside a
chloroplast.
8. Light independent reaction
The light-independent reactions of photosynthesis are
chemical reactions that convert carbon dioxide and
other compounds into glucose. The energy released
from ATP drives this metabolic pathway. It is described
to be light-independent as it proceeds regardless of the
amount of light available. The term is used in contrast
to light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis.
9. What is photosynthesis important to
plants, humans, and animals?
First of all plants are important to the life because that’s
some where animals and humans get oxygen from.
Photosynthesis is the one that give plants with food and
energy. Animals are the ones that eat the plant. For
humans we breathe in oxygen and we exhale carbon
dioxide.
10. The formula of photosynthesis….
The formula is :
6CO +6H O 2 2
C H O +60
6 12 6 2
