Mark Twain s Worldview
Mark Twain and His Worldview The worldviews of authors greatly affect what they write and
how they write it. This essay will examine what Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain,
believes about the world and how he expressed this in some of his lesser known writings such as
Letters From the Earth and Little Bessie. By understanding his worldview people can better dissect
some of his other more common works to learn their intirquices. Samuel Clemens, later known as
Mark Twain, was born to Jane and John Marshall Clemens in Florida Missouri in the year 1835.

Abstract
Loss of valuable resources in terms of energy and materials are known as waste. Industrial wastes
are generally materialistic, including waste water and different chemicals.
Among all the industries, chemical industry is known as most polluted sector. The main problem
lays in the fact that the cost of raw materials and disposal of wastes are underestimated. In
consequence, there are usually no economic incentives to develop waste free processes.
In general, chemical industry is still not keen to alter chemical products and processes and prefers
to deal with waste end of pipe. Recycling and waste prevention together is a very effective policy to
solve the environmental problem in the chemical sector. Prevention of waste is meant by use of
minimum waste at the source and also reduction in the use of raw materials and energy. Waste
dumping standards accepted by industry is most important. Industry seems to assume that waste
minimization means only the reduction of the amount of waste sent to landfill, thus any kind of
activity, especially off site utilization and incineration, is seen as waste minimization. An
Environmental administrator, who would like to implement standards of waste

I First Heard About The Etude Op
I first heard about the Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 3, in E major composed by FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin in a
TV drama. The protagonist introduces the piece as the Song of Farewell which is about the
departure of two people. While I was listening to it, the piece walked me through a path of
memories.
This Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 3, in E major is in ternary form, with ABA sections. The piece starts
softly with legato. The narrow range notes form a motive that put people into peace. The arch
shaped phrase introduces audiences into the journey. The bass harmonyacts as an accompaniment
and footprints that guide people back to their past steps by steps. Antecedent and consequent also
appear in this piece which in the first time of the phrase, the melody comes in soft and quiet; in
the second time, the phrase gets louder and is a variation of the first phrase. To me, these two
corresponding melody acts like the process of recalling the past time. In the beginning, the
memories from the past start appearing in minds, and soon, the pictures become clearer and more
details pop up. With the uses of dynamics, first crescendo and follows by decrescendo, it develops
the sadness of the piece in which it allows the audience to fall into the memories and soon after
realising these precious times have already become the past that they can no longer go back and
the decrescendo represents a sense of regret and sorrow.
The second part, which is the B section of the piece, composes of a totally different melody and to

Jim Crow Rights
Through 1877 and 1954, many African Americans suffered to gain their rights completely after
the end of slavery. This hard, wicked time was the beginning of the start of a new law, known as
the Jim Crow Laws, that erased the rights for former slaves all across the south. The phrase Jim
Crow originated from Thomas Rice, who created a stage play about an African Americannamed Jim
who was owned by a man name Mr. Crow. In the Play, Rice was in costume as a Jim and danced
around singing a song saying Jump Jim Crow which became very popular in the south thus creating
the name for the law that segregated blacks from whites. Jim Crow Lawswas one of the most wicked
laws that the U.S. supreme court had passed.
For 87 years, African Americans had fought for their civil rights that were taken away from them
by a law passed by Congress that stated all former slaves and whites were to be separated and to
have separated schools, water fountains, bathrooms, etc. This law had prohibited African
Americans from living a life they should like any normal white person can. This law, known as
Jim Crow Laws, was passed by congress in 1877 in the south, as reconstruction ended. After the
Civil War, white southerners were not so pleased about African Americans having their freedom
and having their rights. White southerners were not willing to have the same rights as African
Americans, so they decided to segregate all blacks and whites. The origin of the name Jim Crow
came from a stage play

Obesity Research Paper
High fructose corn syrup is known to be a tasty and all around unhealthy sweetener that we human
consume. The inexpensive and readily obtainable sweetener has caused an epidemic obesity that
plagued the world shortly after it has been introduced worldwide at supermarkets. Considering that
HFCS is heavily processed in many foods as a substitute for table sugar, it is permeated into almost
every food we eat. Eating too much food containing HFCS may be good for our taste bud, but it
does not mean it is good for our body. The predominant sweetener leads to obesity because it has a
copious amount of sugar, metabolizes differently than any other sugar, and are nowadays falsely
advertised as healthy . HFCS has been used as a sweetener in... Show more content on

Fructose can only be metabolized by the liver because only the liver has a transporter for it.
Whereas glucose can be metabolized by every cell in the body. Also, fructose goes through a
metabolic change that keeps your body from burning fat. This means that all fructose gets stored
in your fat cells and are then turned into fat. Moreover, fructose causes people to gain more
calories because they do not feel as if they are full. As Jacqueline states, As an increase in insulin
and leptin are associated with satiety, some researchers theorized that perhaps ingesting fructose
instead of glucose leads people to consume more calories because they do not get the right signals
to feel full (Jacques, n.d.). Insulin is a hormone that regulates the amount of glucose in the blood.
Leptin is a hormone that will help regulate your appetite. A increase in insulin and leptin will
signal your body that you are full. Although, as you become resistant to the results of insulin and
leptin, you end up eating more. Nowadays many food are advertised to persuade the audience that
a certain brand or product is better in comparison to the others. HFCS for instance are usually
advertised as being healthy in comparison to regular sugar. This will grab many

Cross Sectional Research Psychology
For a long time man has sought a way to quantify intelligence weather it be a single attribute or a
set of many different kind abilities. One well known test, devised to measure intellectual aptitude, is
the intelligence quotient, or IQ test. Furthermore, we have been interested how IQ changes with
age. Early on in twentieth century, cross sectional research determined that IQ increased throughout
childhood, peaked at adolescence and declined from there on out. This cross sectional research
involved different groups of people at different ages. The dilemma with such a data set is that it
does not take into account many variables that skew these results as you are measuring different
sets of individuals and their educationlevel or quality of education (Berger, K. S. 2005).
Later on in the twentieth century longitudinal research was used to determine the affects of age on
IQ. Longitudinal research mended the issue of collecting data from different individuals in different
age groups by testing the IQ of the same individuals in adolescents and than periodically throughout
adulthood. This method of research revealed that IQ continues to increase throughout adulthood, up
to the age 60. However, longitudinal research had problems of its own it did not take into account ...

The Symbiotic Relationship Between Christian And...
After Constantine embrace the Christian faith was developed what I call a symbiotic relationship
between Jews and Roman because, Jews bring the Christian theology and the Roman afford their
politic power and resources incorporating the faith to the Roman s propagandistic machinery that
was spread through the arts like paintings, sculptures and architectures. According to Dr. Allen
Farber this interaction is clear due to the transformation of Christianitythat is dramatically evident in
a comparison between the architecture of the pre Constantinian church and that of the
Constantinian and post Constantinian church. During the pre Constantinian period, there was not
much that distinguished the Christian churches from typical domestic architecture.

Analysis Of The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari by Robert Wiene is a silent, black white horror film, which
emphasizes on the expression of inner thoughts and emotions through the control of stylistic
elements (Bordwell, 2000). It was a creative film movement that took off in the 1920s during a
period known as Weimar Germany (Foster, 2008). This period was between World War I and
World War II, where filmmakers were exploring juxtaposions of light and shadows to create a new
style of filmmaking , that have later inspired such cinematography seen in Film Noir (Foster, 2008).
German Expressionismis described as seeing beauty in imbalanced proportions , the sets used in
the film was constructed with the expressionist style (George, 1965). For instance, windows
walkways were not viewed in their original symmetric form but instead in unnatural shapes and
sizes. In terms of the characters, Dr. Caligari drives the plot throughout the film, alongside his
somnambulist, Cesare. The film primarily surrounds these two characters and how their actions
affect the decisions and lives of the other characters. However, it is obvious that Wiene
deliberately used complex architectures, settings and evil characters to frame such unique
elements to represent how set design could put expressionist painting and art to good use in film
(Bordwell, 2017). His creativity is also evident through his manipulation of light and shadows, a
lighting technique known as Chiarascuro lighting to contrast light and dark to create interesting
shadows (Bordwell, 2017). This is because Wienne s use of set design and mise en scene also
contribute to this expressionist feel. In addition, viewers also witness human like form to
nonhuman things, this can be seen by the examples of the tree branches or even the street lights
buildings themselves. However, its all purpose is to blend with the bizarre setting to display
straightforward messages to direct spectators (Bordwell, 2000). Due to these uncommon elements,
critics have praised the movie for its unique expressionistic style , it has become a profound
influence over other directors in Hollywood today, such as the notable Tim Burton, whose film,
Edward Scissorhands (1990), which had many similar

Dallek used many different sources throughout his biography. He referenced secondary sources
from several biographies and articles about Truman, as well as primary sources such as Truman
s autobiography and memoirs, private records, and accounts from those who worked with
Truman. Dallek used subscripts each time he referenced another work to cite exactly where he
got his information, even down to the page number. This format made all of the information
seem reliable, and allowed the reader to trust everything that they read. The wide variety of
types of sources allowed the reader to see and understand Truman s life from several different
perspectives. Dallek describes each chapter of Truman s life in great detail. In Truman s early
years, he live on his parent s farm in Independence, Missouri. After serving in World War I, he
began his political career when he became a judge of Jackson County, Missouri. He served as a

Introduction
In this report, the author will look at two theoretical concepts, motivation and leadership in
Historical Cadbury. The reason the author selected these topics to speak about were; they were a
crucial part to the success of Cadburys. This report will include motivation and leadership concepts
and will be applied to the context of Historical Cadbury. I have chosen leadership and motivation as
I believe they were fundamental to the success of Cadburys. The purpose of this report is to
demonstrate an understanding of some of the dynamics and influences at play within Cadburys.
The author will also look to demonstrate how motivation and leadership impacts in the workplace.
Another element of the discussion will be about the concepts Cadburys used in order to accomplish
their organisational goals. In conclusion, the author will give their personal opinion on whether
they believe motivation and leadership had an impact on Cadburys in the historical era.
In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham. The Cadbury
business was born in 1831, when John Cadbury decided to begin producing on a commercial

community, a struggling business was a liability, falling into debt was seen as a form of theft and
was punished severely (Cadbury, 2011).

Narrative Intervention Examples
Children encounter narratives in virtually every facet of their lives, as narrative discourse is a way
to communicate observations, feelings, ideals, and attitudes within cultural settings. The ability to
produce cohesive and coherent narratives has been linked to competence in socialization, working
memory, and academics, and children are proficient at understanding and creating stories as early as
first grade. Children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), however, often have
difficulty producing and comprehending narratives, which extend into their adolescent and adult
years. Narrativeintervention may be implemented to address academic performance and social
competency.
Narratives are the retelling of past experiences and are a means for communicating perceptions,
feelings, values, and attitudes within cultural contexts (). The ability to produce coherent and
cohesive narratives has been linked to competence in socialization, working memory, and

Society has long sought to find a definite difference between what is natural and what is too
harsh for children. There are obvious cases of abuse and improper treatment of child laborers as
there have been for years, and it is obvious that it is in no way beneficial to the children to work
as they do. There then comes a question of whether or not something should be done and if so
then what. Child labor is an issue rooted in the very idea that sometimes, the members of society
have a responsibility to the rest of society to work for the good of those people who cannot work
for themselves. The children involved never have and do not now possess the capability to seek
change. This ability lies solely in the rest of society. The issue then becomes a question of how
people respond to social responsibility. It is easy to separate oneself from social responsibilities
as many people in the countries of global power, like the United States, do not have a real or
serious problem of child labor. They are really above the problems of modern child labor as the
only real contact that they have with it is when the major companies therein are accused of
contributing to the hiring of unfairly compensated and over worked child employees.

It is important to know the history of the internet. The internet is a worldwide network of computer

after the Russians launched a satellite into space for communication reasons. The satellite was
called SPUTNIK (Computer History Museum, 2004). It was rumored that President Eisenhower

Importance of Research
Research is important both in scientific and nonscientific fields. In our life new problems,
events, phenomena and processes occur every day. Practically implementable solutions and
suggestions are required for tackling new problems that arise. Scientists have to undertake research

The Sorites Paradox And The Epistemic View
solution to it.
The Sorites Paradox begins with the problem that if one looks at a vague term such as a heap, at
what point is it no longer a heap if you keep taking grains of sand out of it. The same can be said
for cattle, if one keeps removing cattle from a herd when will it no longer be a herd. The Sorites
Paradox is paradoxical because all the premises appear to be true as well as the argument being
valid (the conclusion really follows from the premises); yet the conclusion appears to be false. In
which case there must be a problem with one of the premises in order for the conclusion to be
false, however it is very difficult to see which premise is false. One proposed solution to the
problem is the Epistemic view.
There are two versions of the argument the many premise version and the two premise version.
The keys steps in the many premise version of the Sorites Paradox are as follows:
(MPS)(1)1,000,000 grains of sand make a heap; (2)If 1,000,000 grains of sand make a heap, then
1,000,000 1 (= 999,999) grains of sand make a heap;
So
(3)999,999 grains of sand make a heap.
(Morris, 2016)
The argument begins with 1,000,000 grains of sand which can obviously be seen as a heap. One
grain of sand is subtracted each time e.g 1,000,000 1 = 999,999 grains of sand, with the
conclusion following that 999,999 grains of sand make a heap. This seems a valid argument as the
conclusion follows from the premises and it is clear that 999,999 grains of sand being

Lord Of The Flies Fire Symbolism Essay
Don t play with fire. Fire is unpredictable, uncontainable, and its results are everlasting.
Nonetheless, fireplaces, campfires, and birthday candles, rouse the fascination of children and
adults because it is the universal symbol of spirit. Unlike conventional symbols, fire has an
intrinsic relationship with the spirit it represents. A fire radiates heat and light to create an
impression of power and liveliness. The vivacious flames are always dancing in different patterns,
but maintain a degree of constancy. In the Lord of the Flies, fire is a prominent symbolof Ralph s
hopeful spirit throughout the series of events on the island. Fire s recurringappearances throughout

This shows that Ralph s hopes may not be as high, but the fire along with hope still exists.
Savagery is a threat to hope, but does not cause hope to die out. Despite fire s recurring presence,
the fire burns out when the hunters desert their duty to tend the fire and hunt a pig instead.
When Ralph discovers that Jack and his hunters neglect the fire, Jack provides a feeble excuse.
[Ralph to Jack] You let the fire go out. [...] [Jack insists] You should have seen the blood!
(Golding 70) When the hunters choose to hunt instead of tending the fire, it represents a descent
from the original orderly civilization into savagery. In this scene, Golding hints that savagery
threatens Ralph s hopeful mindset for a civilized tribe, but savagery does not kill hope. By the
end of the book, all of the boys become hunters who are regarded as savages , murder Ralph s
faithful comrade Piggy, and steal the spectacles along with the fire; Ralph seems to be at rock
bottom. Ralph has no one to turn to, nowhere to stay, and no plan for the future as he scrambles to
escape a hunt, all the while, unable to see hope in his situation. The narrator speaks, The best thing
to do was to ignore this laden feeling about the heart, [...] no fire; no smoke; no rescue, (Golding).
Unfortunately for Ralph, the hunt escalates when Jack s savage forest fire consumes the

Mount Everest Formation

Term Paper
GEO 150
February 24, 2016
Introduction
Mount Everest is commonly know as the highest mountain on earth located in Nepal and Tibet in
the Mahalangur mountain range. With a peak of 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet above sea level,
Mount Everest is the location of the international border between China and Nepal neighboring
with peaks such as Lhoste, Nuptse and Changtse.
Rock Descriptions
The rocks that comprise Mount Everst are subdivided into three formations, each separated from
one another by low angle faults or detachments. The three formations consist of sedimentary and
metamorphic rocks and are the Qomolangma Formation, the North Col Formation and the Rongbuk
Formation. The Qomolangma formation is the top peak of the mountain ... Show more content on

The portion of the Qomolangma formation that is between 8,200 to the top of 8,600 is called the
yellow band. The reason it s called the yellow band is because of the Cambrian deposit and marble
its made up of which resembles a yellow pigment. In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone
and sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. The base of
this formation is referred to as the Lhoste detachment and is a low angle normal fault. About 24
million years ago when the Indian and the Asian planes collided, the Indian plane subducted as a
result. From this the Indian plateau was made which thus created the metamorphic and sedimentary
rocks. We can find these rocks faulted towards the south in an upward motion primarily due to the
Cenozoic collision of the two continents. The Many sills and dikes intrude the rocks in this
formation as previously mentioned as the Higher Himalayan leucogranite, which is formed by
partial melting of Paleoproterozoic to Ordovician high grade metasedimentary rocks. This melting
inhibited the creation of the Rongbuk formation by the pressure caused by the collision that forced
the rocks into a downward then back up direction. The heat of the melting under sea level then
pushed the rocks to the surface of the southern

The Role Of Persuasion Within The Reid And Peace Model...
This paper examines the role of persuasion within the Reid and PEACE model techniques of
interrogation and how race and stereotype threats influence these interrogation styles. False
confession is also defined and discussed. A variety of race and cultures are included, focusing
primarily on African American and Caucasian individuals. Police interrogationcan be persuasive in
many ways and effects the potential suspect physiologically and psychologically. Considering the
discussed effects of police interrogation, the PEACE model technique seems to be the most
persuasive technique of police interrogation. The PEACE model technique is preferred more among
police and among the different studies.
The EFFECT OF PERSUASION 3

Crow, a caucasian boy who is fourteen years old, confessed to murdering his older sister in their
childhood home. Crow was interrogated for ten hours when he eventually admitted to a crime he
did not commit. Through his interrogation, Crow showed signs of distress. When Crow would
say that he had a feeling he killed his sister the interrogator went along with what Crow said and
tried to get an even greater confession out of him by being coercive and confrontational. As the
interrogation progressed Crow s level of distress became greater. Crow was going back and forth

Dog Research In Psychology
My bachelor thesis is concerned with the development, testing and evaluation of a reliable
method for performing eye tracking with dogs. Giving this precise reply to people asking me
about my thesis generally caused quite a stir. In the following introduction, I am going to explain
why dogs are subjects of interest to a psychology student and why I believe that eye tracking
technology will be a major part of dogresearch soon.
Dogs in research
Without batting an eye, most people acknowledge that comparative research is conducted with non
human primates. Yet, these people raise their eyebrows when they hear that the very same is done
with dogs. It has become common knowledge that our closest relatives stem from the species of the
Great Apes (PrГјfer et al., 2012). This, however, mainly refers to genetic material, while we differ
significantly in our choice of habitat. The dog may not be such a close genetic relative, but instead
has lived in cohabitation with humans for thousands of years. Though the degree the environment
influences an individual is something that is often argued about, most scientists agree that the
environment plays an important role in an individual s development, e.g. personality development
(Asendorpf, 2004). Pet dogs generally share the environment with their owners and spend a fair
amount of time in close social interaction with them. Often, similar behavior can be seen in owners
and their dogs, and a study by Roy and Christenfeld (2004) even

Essay On Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
Born in New Albany, Mississippi on Sept. 25th, 1897, Faulkner is one of America s most celebrated
novelist, poet, and short story writer. In contrast to the minimalistic style of his contemporaries,
Faulkner often employed stream of consciousness into his work and wrote highly emotional,
complex, and almost grotesque stories. As I Lay Dying, however, was one of Faulkner s extreme
pieces of literature. Through presenting the stories in the voices of fifteen unique characters,
Faulkner was able to offer readers each character s inner thoughts and emotions. While Darl, for
instance, narrates in a storytelling fashion using reminiscences of his past and internal monologues.
Dewey Dell, on the other hand, narrates with frantic energy and random thoughts. As we are not
simply passive readers of each narrator, he brings up an interesting question: Whose narrative
should we trust and whose should we not? Each individual character constitutes only a single part
of the big picture, so it is up to readers to decide the credibility of each accounts. However,
Faulkner does turn the reader s attention to one character in particular: Darl Bunsen. By contrasting
Darl s omniscience to his supposed insanity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Political Theories And Ideology Of Liberal Democracy Essay
Many challenges put a stress on Modern Democracy because of the political theories and
ideology our government holds, the current politicians taking office, inequalities throughout
social classes and economies, and the opinions of We the People . Nearly every country claims to
be some form of a democracy, but not all these self proclaimed democracies allow for free politics,
good government, and rule of law (Crick, 2002). Liberal democracyhas begun to win over its
royalist, fascist, and collectivist rivals over the course of the last few centuries, and the freedom
to vote has been steadily expanded to those who were without it. But the liberal democracies of the
world do have problems. Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens
demands certain constant factors (7 Concerns, 2012).
Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to
benefit one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they
can change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win
an election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be
made to help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided
between districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral
votes and seats (Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be

A Profile Of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project
A Profile of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project
Abstract:
Interdisciplinary undergraduate engineering programs have increased in importance and
significance over past few years. Interdisciplinary research areas are strongly motivated to become
disciplines themselves. If they succeed, they can establish their own research funding programs and
make their own tenure and promotion decisions. Interdisciplinary studies can also give skills that
help future engineers to cope in a changing environment. To understand the strengths and
weaknesses of these interdisciplinary courses and programs, it is important to examine how
students perceptions develop through the duration of the course, specifically in regards to their
approach to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The approach towards this project shows interdisciplinary learning between various engineering
fields. First thing to start is designing of table which involves precise dimensions and this involves
mechanical engineering to implement material modeling. Secondly, the design also involves kient
sensor which needs to be embedded with the simulator and programmed through assembly
language, requires electrical engineering in it. Finally all the functionality and image processing
results are programmed using JAVA coding which are exclusively done by computer engineering.
This shows the importance of Interdisciplinary studies.

The disappointment of 1844 is briefly recorded in the parable, by the statement that the
Bridegroom tarried i.e., he seemed to the expectant ones to tarry. And the confusion and darkness
experienced by all, and the many false and visionary views entered into by some who were there
disappointed, are shown in the parable by the statement: While the Bridegroom tarried, they all
slumbered and slept. Yea, and in their darkness and slumber many of them dreamed strange,
unreasonable things. But the parable shows a second movement, similar, and yet different, among
the same virgins. The same general class is referred to but not necessarily the same individuals. As
the first movement was the result of light upon the prophecy, regarding the time for Messiah s

several differences. In the first, the lamps of all the virgins burned alike, and the company
expecting the Bridegroom was mixed; whereas in the second movement, while all will be

knowledge of the Bible a trimmed lamp. Disappointment was predicted for the first movement, and

styles of camouflage and other designs for my rifles as well. I went onto the internet and watched
videos on how to properly paint a firearm. I learned that to create the best effects was to paint the

PlastiDip is a very thin spray able rubber that can act like a paint but can be removed at any time

short drying time, making it easy to spray on multiple layers in a short period of time. After the
second layer of the PlastiDip was fully sprayed on I let it cure over night to ensure that the
PlastiDip had fully gripped to the rifles stock. I kept the gun at room temperature and let it sit for
about twelve hours. I didn t wait this long for fear of the paint not bonding correctly, this amount
of time was due to work and school. When I arrived home from these priorities I began to make the
stencils to create the designs on the rifle. I decided that I wanted to do a striped cut pattern on the
gun using a red spray paint. Creating the stencils was the hardest part of the project. I thought that
the easiest way to make the stencils would be to draw out the design on paper, and then transfer the
design onto the masking tape. From there I was planning on cutting out the designs. This would let
me create the proper pattern and the tape would seal against the gun to prevent leaking. The stencils
did not work like I was hoping they would. To cut out the pattern I first started using a pocket knife.

Feliks Skrzynecki Analysis
The journey that comes when relocating from one country to another can be a significant challenge
for migrants through the idea of belonging. The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the
dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This
is reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of
migrants, in this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines
how an inherent (existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have
caused them to deny aspects of identity. Peter s assimilation into the Australian way of life induces
a detachment from his father and his cultural ideas. Through

Slavery In Cincinnati
Cincinnati is a beautiful city on the Ohio River in southern Ohio that has a very rich history. The
city was founded in 1788 and soon blossomed into a thriving city. One important part of

border with the south during the civil war, causing it as a marker of entrance into the northern part
of the united states during the war. Cincinnati was a important part of the underground railroad,

One of the more famous oppositions of the abolition of slavery in Cincinnati was the Cincinnati
Riots of 1829. Cincinnati was full of irish immigrants and they disliked the competition they
received from the African American community in the area. Irish attacked African Americans in the
area trying to get them to leave the area, leaving more jobs for the immigrants. Some of the African
Americans left, while others stayed and fought for their jobs and lives. Another attack occurred
later in 1836, this time attacking a printing press that was publishing a anti slavery newspaper. A
mob destroyed the press, throwing it out into the streets in attempt to deter the publisher, soon
though he continued to publish his newspaper. The Ohio river was a prominent part of railroad in

Catcher in the Rye Archetypal Analysis

tragic comedy. It is an interesting and controversial novel. Though controversial, the novel
appealed to a great number of people. It was a hugely popular bestseller and general critical
success. I chose this novel because of the negative status it has with parents, teachers, and school.
I wanted to discover what the roots of this controversy are. The main character, Holden

told in first person through the eyes of the narrator, Holden. He recalls the events as a series of
flashbacks placing the setting of the story in his mind. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe Holden s alienation is the cause of most of his pains. Just like the character in the movie,
The Good Girl , wherein Tom Worther is a loner like Holden. Holden s loneliness was a more
concrete manifestation of his alienation. It is both a source of great pain and a source if his
security. And so, Holden left school planning to spend some time on his own in New York City,
where he lives. On the train to New York, Holden meets a mother of his fellow Pencey student.
Though he thinks that this student is a complete bastard , he tells a woman made up stories
about her son. He lied to the woman. But lying to others is also a kind of phoniness, right? A
type of deception that indicates insensitivity or even cruelty. Holden proves that he is just guilty
of phoniness as the people he criticizes. The Road of Trials When Holden arrives New York, he
tried to call several people but for various reasons he decided against it. Holden doesn t seem to
know what to do in New York since he is three days earlier as expected by his parents. So he rode
a cab and he asked the cab driver where the ducks in Central Park go when the lagoon freezes, but

The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia
In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere above Texas
as the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the Kennedy Space Center. The
shuttle itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of the five space shuttles that was used
amongst NASA. But on this particular day, it wasn t like the rest because astronauts are supposed
to return home safely; that s not what happened on this day. There were seven astronauts that were
inside the shuttle. Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark,
William McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an explosion within the
shuttle itself.
NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through many possibilities
of what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion that the reason the shuttle had
exploded when coming through the atmosphere was because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the
craft. This was suspected to be the reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before
Columbia went into space. NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want
anyone else to know of the issues besides them. The Department of Defense had asked
permission from the people working for NASA to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem.
But NASA had said no to their offer and went on to analyze and check the disaster for themselves
so that they knew what the problem was. They call this a common check .

Reader Response In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
The Kite Runner Reader Response
Khaled Hosseini, the author of The Kite Runner, has a writing style unique to him in a way that
the majority of his sentences are short and non complex. Although there are numerous words in
Farsi, most are explained right away to limit confusion. You look khoshteep , Baba said.
Handsome ( Hosseini 166). Hosseini incorporates an abundance of figurative language in his
book, an example of this is repetition. The line, There is a way to be good again is said several
times throughout the book to show its significance in the novel (Hosseini 2). Figurative language is
extremely important because it adds a meaning and value that is much stronger than saying it
differently.
Hosseini uses many symbols in his novel. One, in particular, shows the loss of friendship between
Amir and Hassan, the pomegranate tree. In the beginning, Amir and Hassan would go to the tree
to read stories and eat pomegranates. After school, Hassan and I climbed its branches and
snatched its bloodred pomegranates (Hosseini 27 28). After Hassan had been raped, Amir and
Hassan had gone back to the tree but this time the loss of friendship starts to show through.
When Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan, it is him trying to get Haasan to punish Amir for
what he had done wrong. Hit me back! I spat. Hit me back, goddamn you ! I wished he would. I
wished he d give me the punishment I craved, so maybe I d finally sleep at night (Hosseini 92).
Amir needs the punishment he deserves so badly from the awful things he did and now wants to
live up to. Once Amir goes back to visit his home in Kabul, he finds the pomegranate tree that
once was a symbol of friendship, and now the loss of just that. Hassan said in his letter that the
pomegranate tree hadn t borne fruit in years. Looking at the wilted, leafless tree, I doubted it ever
would again (Hosseini 264). The pomegranate tree shows how during their friendship, the tree was
beautiful and full of life. Now that Amir has betrayed Hassan and left him to be killed, the tree is
now lifeless and no fruit to be eaten symbolizing the end of their relationship.
Another symbol that is extremely important is the flying of kites. This is significant because it is

was trading for $.65 a share, and the board had been under intense pressure for months to show it
was serious about turning the company around. If the stock hadn t fallen so low, Charney might
still hold the CEO job today. Apple s success under Jobs is often cited as evidence that the
abusive and just plain weird behavior of a genius CEO should not be held against him if that
person is getting results. But as we now know, Apple barely dodged some serious bullets thanks to
Jobs risky behavior. In a different regulatory climate, the company could have faced a major
scandal and government fines for either its anti trust practices or its backdating of stock options. If

Customers said the box was so different that they couldn t find Tropicana on the shelf anymore.

Detrimental Effects Of War In A Separate Peace
World War II was a very life changing event that demonstrated how much friendships and
everyday people could change due to war. One particular novel set during the era of this war
proves this point well. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Gene, Finny, and Leper
have their own distinct symbols. Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, Finny embodies kindness and
hope, and Leper symbolizes the detrimental effects of war. Throughout the novel, Gene symbolizes
envy and jealousy, especially towards Finny. In the middle of chapter 2, Finny and Gene were
discussing the recent air raid on Central Europe. Finny brings up that they should celebrate and then
mentioned that he would wear a flag. Gene was surprised that he went through with it... Show more

In chapter 10, the effects of war towards leper are clearly shown when he goes off on Gene and
eventually gets pushed out of his chair: Laughing and crying he lay with his head on the floor
and his knees up, [. . .] always were a savage underneath. (145). Clearly, this passage shows how
Leper was affected from the war. Even though he doesn t admit it, his body language when he is
kicked to the ground could be described as psychotic. Leper wasn t like this at all before the war.
He was more like an outcast. In addition, in chapter 10 when Gene is visiting Leper after he
escaped from the war, Leper tells him about what he would ve been in if he han t escaped: A
Section Eight Discharge is for the nuts in the service, the psychos, the funny farm candidates.
(144). In this passage, Leper reveals why he escaped from the war. He wanted to avoid the
discharge for the crazy people even though he was one. There was definitely a massive change in
Leper from the war. In chapter 11, during the trial Leper flashbacked to memories of the war
even though he wasn t involved in heavy conflict: [. . .] and the rays of the sun were shooting past
them, millions of rays shooting past them like like golden machine gun fire (174). Here, Leper was
intimidated by the trial and eventually reflected back to his memories. Leper never saw that kind of
conflict in the military but the scars

Figurative Language In The Highwayman
Have you ever read a poem that just keeps you wonder the whole time.If not than you have never
read the poem The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. The poem is about a Highwayman who is
someone who would rob people. He is in love with the landlord s daughter Bess and he was
going to rob someone one night and when he came back they were going to run away together.
Someone told the soldier that the highway man would come back for bess because he was in
love with her. So the soldier took Bess tied her up and was going to make her watch her beloved
get killed, so she could warn him she shoot herself. Then the next day highwayman was shoot
when he was riding off. I think that poem is very strong because it tells a story and has a lot of
figurative language. I think that the poem is strong because it has a lot of figurative language. In

A metaphor is when you compare one thing to another without using like or as. The metaphors
in the poem bring out what the character looks like. Without the metaphors in the poem it would
be harder to imagine what the characters look like. It also helps you imagine what the scene

Introduction Cesarean section (C/S) births can occur in the hospital for several reasons. Some
women choose to have elective C/S birth and others require C/S births out of infant or maternal
safety, complications, or by necessity. This paper discusses both elective and emergency C/S
deliveries and reviews both National Guideline policy and Carilion Clinic policies on C/S births.
The problem statement is: in pregnant women (population), does C/S delivery following National

age, placenta praevia, morbidly adherent placenta, cephalopelvic disproportion in labor, mother to
child transmission of maternal infection, Hepatitis B and C viruses, Herpes, and maternal request
for C/S birth was outlined (National Guideline Clearinghouse, 2011). An in depth outline of
anesthesia and surgical techniques followed. It seems that this source addressed nearly every type
of C/S birth technique, including method of placental removal, exteriorization of the uterus, closure
of the uterus, peritoneum, abdominal wall, and subcutaneous tissue, use of superficial wound
drains, closure of skin, and even timing of antibiotic administration and thromboprophylaxis for C/S

Reflection On Calcium
I have learned from the computer analysis project that my intake in calcium is low, and my
intake in sodium is high. My DRI reports showed me that I am receiving only 31% of the
recommended daily value for calcium intake. An appropriate amount of calcium is 1300 mg, but I
consumed only 409 mg. My DRI reports also showed me that I consumed above the recommended
range for sodium. A deficiency of calcium has serious effects just as a toxicity of sodium does.
After reviewing my reports, I learned that I need to change my diet and be more cautious about the
amounts of calcium and sodium that I consume.
In nutrition class, I learned that calcium is a mineral that an individual needs in order to
maintain healthy bones. If an individual does not consume enough calcium than he or she is
will be at risk of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a lack of calcium in bones which is a loss of total
bone mass, not just minerals. Bones become weak and very brittle. This leads to fractures of the
weight bearing bones, such as those in the hips and spines. To prevent osteoporosis, I need to
consume the daily recommended value of calcium. Calcium is primarily found in dairy products
such as cheese and milk. Throughout September 30th to October 2nd, I did not consume enough
dairy products. Out of the 1300mg recommended value for calcium, I only consumed 409 mg. I ate
American processed cheese, scrambled eggs and mashed potato which were prepared with milk, but
that was not enough to meet the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Economic Globalization
Economic globalization alludes to the expanding reliance of world economies because of the
developing size of cross outskirt exchange of items and administrations, the stream of universal
capital and wide and quick spread of advancements . ( http://www.un.org/en/development/desa ).
The quick developing importance of data in a wide range of beneficial exercises and marketization
are the two noteworthy main thrusts of financial globalization. Economic Globalization is the
expansion in exchange and capital exchanges crosswise over national limits. There are the two
upsides and downsides of globalization. The advantages incorporate more prominent rivalry, bring
down costs, economies of scale. While globalization can likewise abandon a ton because of the
pace of the advance, this gives more influence for wealthier and more effective multinationals. They
can dodge and sidestep charges while expanding costs on products. A benefit of globalization is
about the efficiencies and openings, open markets make. Business can impart productively and
successfully with their accomplices, providers, and clients and oversee better their provisions,
inventories, and appropriation organize. Neighborhood dealers can pitch products to remove spots

Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol
Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need
a way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This
includes translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic
assignments of addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses
a protocol called Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC
addresses. A MAC address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each
computing device. The reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the
internal communication and delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP
address. The Dynamic Host Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and
assignment of IP addresses in IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses
of the NICs on a network, and automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so
that two NICs don t acquire the same IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to
be entered manually by the system administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering
how many devices can potentially access a network. IPv6uses similar methods to perform both of
those functions, but there are still important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6
performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the Neighbor Discovery Protocol

Ordinary Men Summary
Book Review: Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning
is subtitled Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland. This title is a perfect
overview of the subject of the book. Browning discussed Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the part
it played in the World War II during the Holocaust, especially in the Final Solution , which was the
attempted eradication of Jews. Not only does Browning discuss Battalion 101, but he uses them as
an example of how ordinary people can commit atrocities such as mass murder. Christopher
Browning is a professor of history at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He is
considered an expert on the Holocaust and has written several acclaimed books covering this
subject (Christopher R. Browning). To write this his book Ordinary Men, he relies on a collection
of indictments and judgements that took place from 1962 to 1972 (Browning xvii). These cases
that Browning studied are full of testimonies from Battalion 101 members. He writes Ordinary Men
completely based on these testimonies and the conclusions that can be drawn from them.... Show

What Is The Value Chain Analysis Of Pepsico
In order to provide an outside perspective, PepsiCo tasked us with creating a recommendation to
one of its current problems: how should it adjust its beverage product portfolio to better align
with changing retailer and consumer tastes and preferences? After much consideration and
analysis, we have decided to approach the problem by focusing on society s shift to more health
and environmentally conscious purchasing habits, which has caused annual decreases in
carbonated soft drink (CSD) sales. To further explore PepsiCo s problem, we conducted PEST,
PORTER, VIRO, and Value Chain analyses. Below are the results from each analysis: Through
our PEST analysis, we found political/legal factors as the most pertinent. This is in slight
contrast to our focus on lifestyle and consumer changes because we are focusing on a subset of
social factors and the others sections caused the category to be devalued in the bigger picture.
Overall, we valued tax laws, foreign trade laws, and attitudes toward foreign companies as the
highest because tax laws determine how much revenue may be converted into net income or if it
marginally increases product price. The only factor ranked with low importance was stability of
government. While it is true that a stable government results in a stable market, PepsiCo is not
currently heavily invested in any unstable or contested governments, and its choice to generally
have non politicized practices make it safe to individual political concerns. After

The Dirty Jobs And The American Workforce
The Dirty Jobs Among the many controversial issues surrounding immigration, both legal and
illegal, the role that immigrant workers play in the American workforce is one of the most
controversial. Many argue that illegal immigrant workers are stealing jobs that would otherwise
be held by U.S. citizens, while others claim that no matter the availability of these kinds of jobs,
American workers would not participate in this kind of dirty work. There are two sides to the
argument, but one thing can be agreed upon by all parties discussing the issue of dirty jobs and
the American workforce: there must be a solution. The problem that most thinkers are then faced
with is the multitude of suggestions for solutions to this problem, as well as the many
complexities of the situation that must be accounted for. While pointing out the many problems
surrounding the workforce and these supposedly dirty jobs, pointing out specific, plausible
solutions is a much more difficult task. In comparing Alaskan crab fisherman earning six figure
salaries and migrant laborers in Alabama barely receiving minimum wage, Chris Ladd presents a
great argument, along with useful examples, and a clear solution to the problem. Immigrant
workers are willing to do the least desirable work for a much smaller reward than others in the
American workforce due largely to their situation and need for work and to eliminate the gap
between what American workers are willing to do and what immigrant workers are

Essay on Managed Care
Managed Care
To decide on whether or not an issue is considered ethical or moral we need the hard cold facts.
Facts expose or explain what is to be decided upon #8212;not what the outcome should be.
Decisions regarding health care and mental health issues represent a major portion of ethical and
moral choices. As individuals we are not always able to understand the justice, or fairness, behind
the decisions supposedly based on hard cold facts.

Health is an issue which needs be left to the physician while dollars and cents can remain with the
financial officer. Managed care theoretically may seem appealing, but most view managed care
practices as emphasizing cost control over quality.
The ethical arguments of managed care are dependent on the goals of the physician and the
provider. If the primary goal is always doing the best for the patient within the limits of available
resources and less interest for the bottom line then subjecting patients to unnecessary risks is
minimal. However, if the patient is regarded as a secondary issue the physician and providers are
ethically wrong. It is the position of the National Academies of Practice that is unethical to
compromise a patient s needs and quality care concerns to satisfy financial objectives (Pope, K. S.
Vasquez, M. J. T., (1998) pg. 322).
The APA Ethical Principals of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (Section 4.09c) states, Prior to
termination for whatever reason, except where precluded by the patient s or client s conduct, the
psychologist discusses the patient s or client s views and needs, provides appropriate
predetermination counseling, suggest alternative service providers as appropriate and takes other
reasonable steps to facilitate transfer of responsibility to another provider if the patient or client
need ones immediately (American Psychological Association, 1992, pp. 1597 1611).

  • 3. Standards Of Waste Dumping Of Chemical Industries Standards of Waste Dumping in Chemical Industries Syed Wahb Mehdi Rizvi School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics style Affiliation Flinders University of South Australia PO Box 2100, Adelaide 5001, South Australia Rizv0004@flinders.edu.au style Email Address Abstract Loss of valuable resources in terms of energy and materials are known as waste. Industrial wastes are generally materialistic, including waste water and different chemicals. Among all the industries, chemical industry is known as most polluted sector. The main problem lays in the fact that the cost of raw materials and disposal of wastes are underestimated. In consequence, there are usually no economic incentives to develop waste free processes. In general, chemical industry is still not keen to alter chemical products and processes and prefers to deal with waste end of pipe. Recycling and waste prevention together is a very effective policy to solve the environmental problem in the chemical sector. Prevention of waste is meant by use of minimum waste at the source and also reduction in the use of raw materials and energy. Waste dumping standards accepted by industry is most important. Industry seems to assume that waste minimization means only the reduction of the amount of waste sent to landfill, thus any kind of activity, especially off site utilization and incineration, is seen as waste minimization. • 4. I First Heard About The Etude Op I first heard about the Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 3, in E major composed by FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin in a TV drama. The protagonist introduces the piece as the Song of Farewell which is about the departure of two people. While I was listening to it, the piece walked me through a path of memories. This Г‰tude Op. 10, No. 3, in E major is in ternary form, with ABA sections. The piece starts softly with legato. The narrow range notes form a motive that put people into peace. The arch shaped phrase introduces audiences into the journey. The bass harmonyacts as an accompaniment and footprints that guide people back to their past steps by steps. Antecedent and consequent also appear in this piece which in the first time of the phrase, the melody comes in soft and quiet; in the second time, the phrase gets louder and is a variation of the first phrase. To me, these two corresponding melody acts like the process of recalling the past time. In the beginning, the memories from the past start appearing in minds, and soon, the pictures become clearer and more details pop up. With the uses of dynamics, first crescendo and follows by decrescendo, it develops the sadness of the piece in which it allows the audience to fall into the memories and soon after realising these precious times have already become the past that they can no longer go back and the decrescendo represents a sense of regret and sorrow. The second part, which is the B section of the piece, composes of a totally different melody and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This hard, wicked time was the beginning of the start of a new law, known as the Jim Crow Laws, that erased the rights for former slaves all across the south. The phrase Jim Crow originated from Thomas Rice, who created a stage play about an African Americannamed Jim who was owned by a man name Mr. Crow. In the Play, Rice was in costume as a Jim and danced around singing a song saying Jump Jim Crow which became very popular in the south thus creating the name for the law that segregated blacks from whites. Jim Crow Lawswas one of the most wicked laws that the U.S. supreme court had passed. For 87 years, African Americans had fought for their civil rights that were taken away from them by a law passed by Congress that stated all former slaves and whites were to be separated and to have separated schools, water fountains, bathrooms, etc. This law had prohibited African Americans from living a life they should like any normal white person can. This law, known as Jim Crow Laws, was passed by congress in 1877 in the south, as reconstruction ended. After the Civil War, white southerners were not so pleased about African Americans having their freedom and having their rights. White southerners were not willing to have the same rights as African Americans, so they decided to segregate all blacks and whites. The origin of the name Jim Crow came from a stage play ... The inexpensive and readily obtainable sweetener has caused an epidemic obesity that plagued the world shortly after it has been introduced worldwide at supermarkets. Considering that HFCS is heavily processed in many foods as a substitute for table sugar, it is permeated into almost every food we eat. • 9. Cross Sectional Research Psychology For a long time man has sought a way to quantify intelligence weather it be a single attribute or a set of many different kind abilities. One well known test, devised to measure intellectual aptitude, is the intelligence quotient, or IQ test. Furthermore, we have been interested how IQ changes with age. Early on in twentieth century, cross sectional research determined that IQ increased throughout childhood, peaked at adolescence and declined from there on out. This cross sectional research involved different groups of people at different ages. The dilemma with such a data set is that it does not take into account many variables that skew these results as you are measuring different sets of individuals and their educationlevel or quality of education (Berger, K. S. 2005). Later on in the twentieth century longitudinal research was used to determine the affects of age on IQ. Longitudinal research mended the issue of collecting data from different individuals in different age groups by testing the IQ of the same individuals in adolescents and than periodically throughout adulthood. This method of research revealed that IQ continues to increase throughout adulthood, up to the age 60. However, longitudinal research had problems of its own it did not take into account ... After Constantine embrace the Christian faith was developed what I call a symbiotic relationship between Jews and Roman because, Jews bring the Christian theology and the Roman afford their politic power and resources incorporating the faith to the Roman s propagandistic machinery that was spread through the arts like paintings, sculptures and architectures. According to Dr. Allen Farber this interaction is clear due to the transformation of Christianitythat is dramatically evident in a comparison between the architecture of the pre Constantinian church and that of the Constantinian and post Constantinian church. Analysis Of The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari The Cabinet of Dr Caligari by Robert Wiene is a silent, black white horror film, which emphasizes on the expression of inner thoughts and emotions through the control of stylistic elements (Bordwell, 2000). It was a creative film movement that took off in the 1920s during a period known as Weimar Germany (Foster, 2008). This period was between World War I and World War II, where filmmakers were exploring juxtaposions of light and shadows to create a new style of filmmaking , that have later inspired such cinematography seen in Film Noir (Foster, 2008). German Expressionismis described as seeing beauty in imbalanced proportions , the sets used in the film was constructed with the expressionist style (George, 1965). For instance, windows walkways were not viewed in their original symmetric form but instead in unnatural shapes and sizes. In terms of the characters, Dr. Caligari drives the plot throughout the film, alongside his somnambulist, Cesare. The film primarily surrounds these two characters and how their actions affect the decisions and lives of the other characters. However, it is obvious that Wiene deliberately used complex architectures, settings and evil characters to frame such unique elements to represent how set design could put expressionist painting and art to good use in film (Bordwell, 2017). His creativity is also evident through his manipulation of light and shadows, a lighting technique known as Chiarascuro lighting to contrast light and dark to create interesting shadows (Bordwell, 2017). This is because Wienne s use of set design and mise en scene also contribute to this expressionist feel. In addition, viewers also witness human like form to nonhuman things, this can be seen by the examples of the tree branches or even the street lights buildings themselves. However, its all purpose is to blend with the bizarre setting to display straightforward messages to direct spectators (Bordwell, 2000). Due to these uncommon elements, critics have praised the movie for its unique expressionistic style , it has become a profound influence over other directors in Hollywood today, such as the notable Tim Burton, whose film, Edward Scissorhands (1990), which had many similar ... Society has long sought to find a definite difference between what is natural and what is too harsh for children. There are obvious cases of abuse and improper treatment of child laborers as there have been for years, and it is obvious that it is in no way beneficial to the children to work as they do. There then comes a question of whether or not something should be done and if so then what. Child labor is an issue rooted in the very idea that sometimes, the members of society have a responsibility to the rest of society to work for the good of those people who cannot work for themselves. The children involved never have and do not now possess the capability to seek change. This ability lies solely in the rest of society. The issue then becomes a question of how people respond to social responsibility. It is easy to separate oneself from social responsibilities as many people in the countries of global power, like the United States, do not have a real or serious problem of child labor. They are really above the problems of modern child labor as the only real contact that they have with it is when the major companies therein are accused of contributing to the hiring of unfairly compensated and over worked child employees. • 26. The Sorites Paradox And The Epistemic View solution to it. The Sorites Paradox begins with the problem that if one looks at a vague term such as a heap, at what point is it no longer a heap if you keep taking grains of sand out of it. The same can be said for cattle, if one keeps removing cattle from a herd when will it no longer be a herd. The Sorites Paradox is paradoxical because all the premises appear to be true as well as the argument being valid (the conclusion really follows from the premises); yet the conclusion appears to be false. In which case there must be a problem with one of the premises in order for the conclusion to be false, however it is very difficult to see which premise is false. One proposed solution to the problem is the Epistemic view. There are two versions of the argument the many premise version and the two premise version. The keys steps in the many premise version of the Sorites Paradox are as follows: (MPS)(1)1,000,000 grains of sand make a heap; (2)If 1,000,000 grains of sand make a heap, then 1,000,000 1 (= 999,999) grains of sand make a heap; So (3)999,999 grains of sand make a heap. (Morris, 2016) The argument begins with 1,000,000 grains of sand which can obviously be seen as a heap. One grain of sand is subtracted each time e.g 1,000,000 1 = 999,999 grains of sand, with the conclusion following that 999,999 grains of sand make a heap. This seems a valid argument as the conclusion follows from the premises and it is clear that 999,999 grains of sand being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone and sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. About 24 million years ago when the Indian and the Asian planes collided, the Indian plane subducted as a result. Giving this precise reply to people asking me about my thesis generally caused quite a stir. Dogs in research Without batting an eye, most people acknowledge that comparative research is conducted with non human primates. Yet, these people raise their eyebrows when they hear that the very same is done with dogs. It has become common knowledge that our closest relatives stem from the species of the Great Apes (PrГјfer et al., 2012). The dog may not be such a close genetic relative, but instead has lived in cohabitation with humans for thousands of years. Though the degree the environment influences an individual is something that is often argued about, most scientists agree that the environment plays an important role in an individual s development, e.g. personality development (Asendorpf, 2004). But the liberal democracies of the world do have problems. Democracy is only as good as its citizens, and the quality of those citizens demands certain constant factors (7 Concerns, 2012). Gerrymandering is the process in which political boundaries are redraw or changed in order to benefit one political party over another one; if one party has power of the state legislature, then they can change political boundaries to maximize their chances of winning congressional districts to win an election. By doing this, unfair and skewed results are produced because redrawn lines can be made to help one party win over the other, since constituents for the losing party will be divided between districts (Tormsen, 2015). This will also allow the winning party to win more electoral votes and seats (Tormsen, 2015). This practice is uniquely American and can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. A Profile Of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project A Profile of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project Abstract: Interdisciplinary undergraduate engineering programs have increased in importance and significance over past few years. Interdisciplinary research areas are strongly motivated to become disciplines themselves. If they succeed, they can establish their own research funding programs and make their own tenure and promotion decisions. Interdisciplinary studies can also give skills that help future engineers to cope in a changing environment. To understand the strengths and weaknesses of these interdisciplinary courses and programs, it is important to examine how students perceptions develop through the duration of the course, specifically in regards to their approach to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The approach towards this project shows interdisciplinary learning between various engineering fields. First thing to start is designing of table which involves precise dimensions and this involves mechanical engineering to implement material modeling. Secondly, the design also involves kient sensor which needs to be embedded with the simulator and programmed through assembly language, requires electrical engineering in it. Finally all the functionality and image processing results are programmed using JAVA coding which are exclusively done by computer engineering. This shows the importance of Interdisciplinary studies. Various heat exchanger designs are proposed for cooling beer wort from boiling temperature to fermentation temperature. In beer making cooling the wort quickly is very important for three main reasons: it avoids oxidation, bacteria contamination, and chill haze formation. Fast cooling the wort provides a thermal shock to these heat sensitive proteins causing them to permanently precipitate. Chillpipe heat exchanger is been designed and developed, that will cool 5 gallons of wort in less than 4 minutes, and that is easy to clean and set up. This involves using specialized software called S Thex , developed to demonstrate the chemical design rating calculations of Shell Tube Heat Exchangers. Also testing ... And the confusion and darkness experienced by all, and the many false and visionary views entered into by some who were there disappointed, are shown in the parable by the statement: While the Bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. Yea, and in their darkness and slumber many of them dreamed strange, unreasonable things. But the parable shows a second movement, similar, and yet different, among the same virgins. The same general class is referred to but not necessarily the same individuals. As the first movement was the result of light upon the prophecy, regarding the time for Messiah s second advent as the Bridegroom of the Church, so was the second movement. But there are several differences. In the first, the lamps of all the virgins burned alike, and the company expecting the Bridegroom was mixed; whereas in the second movement, while all will be aroused, only those will be led out who have the spirit of the truth in their hearts, as well as a knowledge of the Bible a trimmed lamp. Disappointment was predicted for the first movement, and waiting for the 1335 days was necessary; but the second was not a disappointment, and a waiting was no longer necessary; for fulfillment came exactly at the close ... The owner of the shop had a binder full of pictures of guns that he had painted. Upon seeing this I wanted to learn how to create amazing styles of camouflage and other designs for my rifles as well. I went onto the internet and watched videos on how to properly paint a firearm. I learned that to create the best effects was to paint the gunusing a gravity feed air brush. The PlastiDip has a short drying time, making it easy to spray on multiple layers in a short period of time. After the second layer of the PlastiDip was fully sprayed on I let it cure over night to ensure that the PlastiDip had fully gripped to the rifles stock. I kept the gun at room temperature and let it sit for about twelve hours. I didn t wait this long for fear of the paint not bonding correctly, this amount of time was due to work and school. When I arrived home from these priorities I began to make the stencils to create the designs on the rifle. I decided that I wanted to do a striped cut pattern on the gun using a red spray paint. Creating the stencils was the hardest part of the project. I thought that the easiest way to make the stencils would be to draw out the design on paper, and then transfer the design onto the masking tape. From there I was planning on cutting out the designs. This would let me create the proper pattern and the tape would seal against the gun to prevent leaking. The stencils did not work like I was hoping they would. The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This is reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of migrants, in this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines how an inherent (existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have caused them to deny aspects of identity. Though controversial, the novel appealed to a great number of people. It was a hugely popular bestseller and general critical success. I chose this novel because of the negative status it has with parents, teachers, and school. I wanted to discover what the roots of this controversy are. • 46. Reader Response In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini The Kite Runner Reader Response Khaled Hosseini, the author of The Kite Runner, has a writing style unique to him in a way that the majority of his sentences are short and non complex. Although there are numerous words in Farsi, most are explained right away to limit confusion. You look khoshteep , Baba said. Handsome ( Hosseini 166). Hosseini incorporates an abundance of figurative language in his book, an example of this is repetition. The line, There is a way to be good again is said several times throughout the book to show its significance in the novel (Hosseini 2). Figurative language is extremely important because it adds a meaning and value that is much stronger than saying it differently. Hosseini uses many symbols in his novel. One, in particular, shows the loss of friendship between Amir and Hassan, the pomegranate tree. In the beginning, Amir and Hassan would go to the tree to read stories and eat pomegranates. After school, Hassan and I climbed its branches and snatched its bloodred pomegranates (Hosseini 27 28). After Hassan had been raped, Amir and Hassan had gone back to the tree but this time the loss of friendship starts to show through. When Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan, it is him trying to get Haasan to punish Amir for what he had done wrong. Hit me back! I spat. Hit me back, goddamn you ! I wished he would. I wished he d give me the punishment I craved, so maybe I d finally sleep at night (Hosseini 92). Amir needs the punishment he deserves so badly from the awful things he did and now wants to live up to. Once Amir goes back to visit his home in Kabul, he finds the pomegranate tree that once was a symbol of friendship, and now the loss of just that. Hassan said in his letter that the pomegranate tree hadn t borne fruit in years. Looking at the wilted, leafless tree, I doubted it ever would again (Hosseini 264). The pomegranate tree shows how during their friendship, the tree was beautiful and full of life. Now that Amir has betrayed Hassan and left him to be killed, the tree is now lifeless and no fruit to be eaten symbolizing the end of their relationship. Another symbol that is extremely important is the flying of kites. This is significant because it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need a way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This includes translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic assignments of addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses a protocol called Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC addresses. A MAC address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each computing device. The reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the internal communication and delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP address. The Dynamic Host Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and assignment of IP addresses in IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses of the NICs on a network, and automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so that two NICs don t acquire the same IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to be entered manually by the system administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering how many devices can potentially access a network. IPv6uses similar methods to perform both of those functions, but there are still important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6 performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the Neighbor Discovery Protocol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Sex, drugs and rock-and-roll. These are just a few of the... Sex, drugs and rock and roll. These are just a few of the things that summon countless people to The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday and Saturday nights. An abundance of teens and people are either pulled in by someone in their family or group of friends and there are those who are merely pulled in and attracted by the peculiarity of the name of the show that brings up and causes a sense of interest and curiosity. What pulled me into it was my group of close of friends and their parents who grew up and relive the show and movie every Halloween. Many people go to discover themselves in a setting or group where they feel that they fit in and are accepted. Those people that normally get called freaks or loser go to see The Rocky Horror... Being chosen to be called forth made me feel as if I truly fit in there and would never be rejected, when in fact if this had happened anywhere else I would have turned redder than a killer tomato. I was ecstatic, yet also terribly embarrassed by the fact that I was chosen to be called forward by my favorite character, Magenta who was being played by a girl named Janet that night. Damnit Janet. After the toast, or what was left of the thrown half burnt toast was finished we did our oath and were permitted to go return to our seats and the show began. In the Rocky Horror community, everyone is celebrated for who they are. Individuality and uniqueness is something special and called upon among the groupies of Transylvania and Dr. Frank N Furter and it will always be that way. No male is ever ridiculed or looked at for dressing like a woman or drag queen nor is any woman ever looked down upon for dressing like a man or drag king. In fact, some of the cast actually play characters of the opposite sex just because they love the role or who and what the character portrays. At NO time throughout the entire show will anyone tell you that you are wrong or weird or different. People are who they really want to be at Rocky Horror and no one will ever stop them for being that way. It is living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Ordinary Men Summary Book Review: Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning is subtitled Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland. This title is a perfect overview of the subject of the book. Browning discussed Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the part it played in the World War II during the Holocaust, especially in the Final Solution , which was the attempted eradication of Jews. Not only does Browning discuss Battalion 101, but he uses them as an example of how ordinary people can commit atrocities such as mass murder. Christopher Browning is a professor of history at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He is considered an expert on the Holocaust and has written several acclaimed books covering this subject (Christopher R. Browning). To write this his book Ordinary Men, he relies on a collection of indictments and judgements that took place from 1962 to 1972 (Browning xvii). These cases that Browning studied are full of testimonies from Battalion 101 members. He writes Ordinary Men completely based on these testimonies and the conclusions that can be drawn from them.... Some had been career policeman, but others had been normal things, such as businessmen, waiters, teachers, truck drivers, and construction workers. All these men came from the Hamburg area in Germany (Browning 47). Police Battalion 101 served as a mass execution squad in Poland during 1942 and 1943. Around 500 men made up Battalion 101, and they were involved in the deaths of at least 80,000 Jews in this short time. • 58. What Is The Value Chain Analysis Of Pepsico In order to provide an outside perspective, PepsiCo tasked us with creating a recommendation to one of its current problems: how should it adjust its beverage product portfolio to better align with changing retailer and consumer tastes and preferences? After much consideration and analysis, we have decided to approach the problem by focusing on society s shift to more health and environmentally conscious purchasing habits, which has caused annual decreases in carbonated soft drink (CSD) sales. To further explore PepsiCo s problem, we conducted PEST, PORTER, VIRO, and Value Chain analyses. Below are the results from each analysis: Through our PEST analysis, we found political/legal factors as the most pertinent. This is in slight contrast to our focus on lifestyle and consumer changes because we are focusing on a subset of social factors and the others sections caused the category to be devalued in the bigger picture. Overall, we valued tax laws, foreign trade laws, and attitudes toward foreign companies as the highest because tax laws determine how much revenue may be converted into net income or if it marginally increases product price. The only factor ranked with low importance was stability of government. While it is true that a stable government results in a stable market, PepsiCo is not currently heavily invested in any unstable or contested governments, and its choice to generally have non politicized practices make it safe to individual political concerns. • 59. The Dirty Jobs And The American Workforce The Dirty Jobs Among the many controversial issues surrounding immigration, both legal and illegal, the role that immigrant workers play in the American workforce is one of the most controversial. Many argue that illegal immigrant workers are stealing jobs that would otherwise be held by U.S. citizens, while others claim that no matter the availability of these kinds of jobs, American workers would not participate in this kind of dirty work. There are two sides to the argument, but one thing can be agreed upon by all parties discussing the issue of dirty jobs and the American workforce: there must be a solution. The problem that most thinkers are then faced with is the multitude of suggestions for solutions to this problem, as well as the many complexities of the situation that must be accounted for. While pointing out the many problems surrounding the workforce and these supposedly dirty jobs, pointing out specific, plausible solutions is a much more difficult task. In comparing Alaskan crab fisherman earning six figure salaries and migrant laborers in Alabama barely receiving minimum wage, Chris Ladd presents a great argument, along with useful examples, and a clear solution to the problem. Immigrant workers are willing to do the least desirable work for a much smaller reward than others in the American workforce due largely to their situation and need for work and to eliminate the gap between what American workers are willing to do and what immigrant workers are ... • 60. Essay on Managed Care Managed Care To decide on whether or not an issue is considered ethical or moral we need the hard cold facts. Facts expose or explain what is to be decided upon #8212;not what the outcome should be. Decisions regarding health care and mental health issues represent a major portion of ethical and moral choices. As individuals we are not always able to understand the justice, or fairness, behind the decisions supposedly based on hard cold facts. Once upon a time being a therapist was considered a calling. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Health is an issue which needs be left to the physician while dollars and cents can remain with the financial officer. Managed care theoretically may seem appealing, but most view managed care practices as emphasizing cost control over quality. The ethical arguments of managed care are dependent on the goals of the physician and the provider. If the primary goal is always doing the best for the patient within the limits of available resources and less interest for the bottom line then subjecting patients to unnecessary risks is minimal. However, if the patient is regarded as a secondary issue the physician and providers are ethically wrong. It is the position of the National Academies of Practice that is unethical to compromise a patient s needs and quality care concerns to satisfy financial objectives (Pope, K. S. Vasquez, M. J. T., (1998) pg. 322). The APA Ethical Principals of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (Section 4.09c) states, Prior to termination for whatever reason, except where precluded by the patient s or client s conduct, the psychologist discusses the patient s or client s views and needs, provides appropriate predetermination counseling, suggest alternative service providers as appropriate and takes other reasonable steps to facilitate transfer of responsibility to another provider if the patient or client need ones immediately (American Psychological Association, 1992, pp. 1597 1611). ...
