Returning to School Essay
Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45 years
old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I have been
working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in survival mode for
so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me accomplish more than I
ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I may become a teacher. Our
low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been struggling for so long that now it
is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those around me, hopefully resulting in an
increase in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three jobs,
and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel welcome.
Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the house is a mess,
the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent, and no money to buy
any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of garbage outside and inside. I
am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food banks for our food. I m so
embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit. I hear the kids and my husband
saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I am not home to keep things clean, or
help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight
each day just to prove myself, to those closest to me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with
one of the counselors at school, to see if they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so
many different types of people throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important
enough to you. Giving up is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need
to take place, getting everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need

Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs Summary
This article describes the black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys Ludovocianus) and their coteries
(polygynous social groups). In these groups, the one adult male reproducing genetically similar
females. The main purpose that the author (John L. Hoogland) tries to convey and support his earlier
work on prairie dogs. In this summary, there is several references to his earlier work, called Analysis
of the Mating System in the Black Tailed Prairie Dog (AMSBTPD). These prairie dogs exist where
some females and pups (yearlings) within the coteries do not breed. Moreover, they behave parentally
towards non offspring. In addition, the Hoogland classified black tailed prairie dogs as cooperative
breeders; however, they do not assist breeders to the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michener and Murie also argue that Hoogland assumption is based on old information and too soon to
surmise that hypothesis. Hoogland states, equivalent to the former, that the direct relationship between
coterie size and LRS of females is a hypothesis. Also, should not solely determine black tails as
cooperative breeders (Hoogland 1983). I find Hoogland last argument inadequate because he makes a
prediction off statistics that deviate from his original hypothesis. Although it is acceptable, it does not
support his argument; and, consequently, taken advantage of. Future research on the LRS of black
tailed prairie dogs will determine if prairie dogs are cooperatively breeder. These are just a few of the
examples, which I find significant of the arguments that occurs in this

Center for Sacramento History Essay
Just like any library, ancient special libraries, also known as archives, where created to preserve and
keep records of specific materials, such as business documents that were written on clay tablets at that
time or papyrus scrolls that were about personal or business matters. At first, general libraries were
mainly focused on providing educational materials for the adult population; however, libraries have
gone through great transformations. Now a days, the libraries purpose has widened and now they
focus on providing any needed information, educational or leisure materials to people of all ages and
types of their communities (Rowland, Collection). Also, now public libraries have partnerships with
school libraries and academic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for archives, the type of employees that they employ really depends on what does the archive
wants to preserve and collect. For example, according to the Center for Sacramento History official
website, the type of employees that currently work at the history archive center are photographs
archivist, city historian, interpretive specialist, senior reference and government records archivist,
curator of history, manuscripts archives, and a film specialist. Libraries try to expand their services by
offering patrons a wide variety of materials by incorporating statewide borrowing and statewide
licensing of databases into their library (Rowland, Library Archives). Also, libraries offer children s
services, access services, reference and reader s advisory services, bookmobiles, outreach services,
technical services, and a variety of other programs (Fourie, 51). The services that are offered in an
archive or special library, varies depending on what type the archive is. For example, since the Center
for Sacramento History archive collects and preserves historical artifacts and documents about
Sacramento, they hold exhibitions in various places throughout the Sacramento County, have a

The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood Comparison Analysis
In the poems The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood, anonymous authors give way to the idea that
an Almighty God will solve every problem a person has by doing two things: 1) drawing upon the
memories of a warrior who has lost everything near and dear to him due to war, and 2) entering the
dream of a man who has been exiled and isolated. Each piece takes its reader through the trials and
tribulations that one may not relate to in this era, yet the reader is still there alongside the character
wanting them to find peace with their world and themselves. Initially, it is believed that the characters
will overcome their hardships and achieve the happiness they seek. However, as the reader delves
deeper into the character s story, there is an overwhelming sense of incompleteness. What actually
happens at the end of each piece is not written in stone telling us the story is not whole nor has a
conclusion been reached. The intrapersonal thoughts being shared with the reader reveal the obstacles
that keep an overall wholeness from occurring. Starting with The Wanderer, the speaker begins his tale
by reminiscing upon his trials and tribulations of which he has suffered a great deal and longs for
relief, the Almighty s mercy (118). He has lost his friends and no longer has anyone to confide in,
forcing him to be alone with his thoughts: So I must hold in the thoughts of my heart (118). In the
midst of his grieving, the Wanderer recalls a joyous occasions, such as when his friend and lord helped
him to the feast (119), only to realize that what once was, is no longer. He finds comfort in his dreams,
longing to be back with his liege lord again only to awaken and have reality come shattering down
upon him (119). However, he comes to the conclusion that through hardship and suffering, one
matures, grows, learns his place in life and how a good man holds his words back, tells his woes not
too soon, baring his inner heart before knowing the best way (120). Throughout this piece, the
Wanderer is struggling with losing much of what made his life whole and debating whether or not the
war was worth the suffering he is faced with with no one by his side. There is a constant battle
between longing for those

The Importance Of Recess And Time For Physical Activity
Every day, adults manage their work days, which include breaks. While at work, adults do many tasks,
but typically do not focus on one task for a three hour period without taking a break. By not providing
breaks or recess, children are asked to focus for a longer period of time than most adults do in a day.
Everyone benefits from breaks in the day and these coffee or recess breaks allow people to return to a
task more focused and with improved concentration. Removing recess and unstructured physical
activity time from the school day can have a serious impact on children s health and well being.
Recess and time for physical activity is not only important to the overall health of children, it also
provides an outlet that helps with the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. In
addition, it is also common for recess to be taken away from students who misbehave. Unfortunately,
it is these types of students who benefit most from recess, the physical activity, and breaks that is
provided away from classroom instruction ( Yay For Recess ). Physical activity and recess for
elementary school children should remain a part of the school day to improve academic performance
and decrease negative behavior.
Over the last ten years, the debate about the effect of recess and physical activity have frequently
changed. In the past, recess and physical activity were a standard part of the school day. Currently,
only 18% of states require elementary schools to have daily

What Led To Progressivism Dbq
What led to progressivism was the Industrial Revolution. This brought prosperity to America but at a
great cost. While the big businesses were booming and making America a stronger country the middle
and lower class was suffering. This was called the Gilded Age because when an outside country would
look at America it would assume they are fine but on the inside it isn t. This all changed however
when the people had enough of bad working conditions, unfair wages, dangerous machines, and child
labor. Through the persistence of the people and the help of two very progressive presidents named
Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson they changed the country for the better. Progressivism was
effective on a national level for some aspects but not all. The people also wanted to have a more safe
and fair working environment. Before progressivism there was no laws on food or product production
making it very unsafe for the consumer to know what he is buying. Journalists called muckrakers
would call attention to this by writing about the horrible conditions in factories. One of these
muckrakers named Upton Sinclair wrote a book called The Jungle which talked about the unsanitary
atmosphere the meat was produced in. This book brought so much attention that the Meat Inspection
Act was passed in 1906 by president Roosevelt. This act made strict cleanliness requirements for
meatpackers to ensure the general people a healthy meal.(Document B). Another act that was passed at

Unethical Behavior At Goldman Sachs
Unethical Behaviour
Unethical comes from the word ethical which means conforming to accepted standards of social or
professional behaviour. Unethical behavior is an action that falls outside of what is considered morally
right or proper for a person, a profession or an industry. It is a wrong contrary to conscience or
morality or law. For example mistreating employee, misrepresentation, financial misconduct,
dumping, child labour etc.
Goldman Sachs
The case revolves around An ex Goldman Sachs employee, Rohit Bansal, hired in 2014 from the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York who obtained confidential information from a friend, Jason Gross,
at the Fed. The information concerned a mid sized New York bank that was a Goldman Sachs client
and which Bansal supervised at his former job and the information was then circulated at Goldman
Sachs. That leak, which violated a cardinal rule of the regulatory world, provided Goldman a window
into the Fed s private insights about the New York bank and other regulatory matters and a heads up to

How Did The Source Evaluate The Truman Doctrine
Abid Kassim Source Evaluation on The Truman Doctrine Dr. Alexander Vazansky (History 338)
9/21/2014 President Truman began the war with the Soviet Union, guided the United States through
World War II and established a foreign policy that would carry on throughout the twentieth century.
Although the Congress and most of the United States supported him, much of the public debated if the
Truman doctrine was worthy, and this argument has continued throughout the years past. The public
that debated the Truman doctrine saw it as the beginning of the United States becoming responsible
for world order. Truman felt strongly about the responsibility of the United States in aiding other

It stated that the United States would provide Military, economic and political assistance to all of the
democratic nations that were under the threat of authoritarian forces. The Truman Doctrine reoriented
the United States foreign policy to possible intervention in conflicts beyond the United States. On
June 5, 1947 George Marshall made a speech at Harvard University which initiated the post war
European Aid program, also known as the Marshall program. Marshall s request was for an agreement
to be made among the countries of Europe, which led to the creation of the Organization for European
Economic Co operation (OEEC). It was mandated that the OEEC would work on a joint recovers

Prize in 1953. The leaders of the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union, who, despite their
differences, had remained allies throughout the war, never met again collectively to discuss
cooperation in postwar reconstruction. Nuclear weapons caused fear of nuclear holocaust, which made

Australia Does Not Have Its Own Culture Essay examples
Australian culture has vanished and turned into multiculturalism. There is no longer a typical
Australian culture, but it has been replaced by a melting pot of diversity. There is no longer a typical
Australian food, instead it has imported and embraced cuisines from around the world. There is no
longer a typical Australian life instead each immigrant can have their own culture in Australia. There
are few national holidays and festivals that are unique to Australia, but rather have come from other
cultures. To get a better understanding of this, culture is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as:
The behaviour and beliefs, characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group , and the
appreciation and understanding of literature, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So what s so unique about that? Therefore, there is no longer a typical Australian food as the foods
have come from many various cultures.
Secondly, Australia consists of many cultures where each cultural group is allowed to have their own
unique culture without integrating with Australian people. One could come from China and not even
have to speak English because there are so many Chinese people in Australia over 1,950,000 Chinese
live in Australia. Since Australia has many mixed cultures one could have their own culture in
Australia. So many immigrants have come in a short space of time from over 226 different cultures
thus diluting Australia s original culture. Migrants have enriched almost every aspect of Australian
life, from business to the arts, from cooking to comedy and from science to sport. Australia s laws
allow immigrants to express their own culture here. This all the more showing that Australia consists
of many diverse cultures and that immigrants have changed the lifestyle in Australia.
Lastly, most, if not all of Australia s national holidays and festivals, have come from diverse cultures.
Six of the main festivals celebrated in Australia are Chinese New Year, Oz Asia festivals, Christmas
pageant, Brisbane s French Experience, St Patrick s Day, and Australia Day. Quite frankly not one of
those festivals can teach someone a single thing about Australian culture but rather other cultures. Out
of those six

Why Do Christians Need To Read The Old Testament
Many contemporary Christians feel that the Old Testament does not apply to them because they are
living under a New Covenant with new requisites, and that the Old Testament has a far off God and
not like the personal narrative of God in the New Testament with Jesus or the Holy Spirit. However,
Christians need to understand that the Old Testament is not just about covenants and requisites, but the
Old Testament is about God connecting to His people so that they might draw closer to Him.
Christians ought to read the Old Testament to keep God s commands, to understand that He does not
change, and to learn how the Old Testament applies to their faith. Hence, Christians should understand
the context of the Old Testament better to comprehend what the text is saying about God and His
children drawing closer.
Thus, Christians should read the Old Testament because the Old ... Show more content on

However, it s important to understand that God will reward us for wanting to grow closer to Him. As
Hill and Walton put it, If God is the source of the Old Testament, it can be understood as possessing
authority, We study Scripture because we expect to get an authoritative word from God, not the
subjective opinions of people, however valuable or true the latter may be. Authority is what makes the
Old Testament more than just fine literature (pg 26). Therefore the key to why Christians must read
the Old Testament is because of the authority from God it has, and thus through reading his scripture
we are rewarded with words from God. Also, similarly to Abraham, God will use this reward to
further his plan. Therefore, when we look at scripture, with context and understanding, we must
understand that the Bible is the supreme authoritative

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Episode 410
In Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode 410 Hush, a group of demon like creatures known as The
Gentlemen take over Sunnydale, stealing the voices of everyone in the town and the hearts of seven
random people. At this point in the series Buffy and Willow start college and Buffy meets a boy
named Riley, who is a teacher s aide in their class. During class Buffy has a dream of a little girl
holding a wooden box who is singing a cryptic rhyme about The Gentlemen that says things like Can t
even shout and Can t say a word. After class Riley tries to get Buffy to tell him about her dream, but
she tells him I m not saying a word. The episode then goes to Xander and his girlfriend Anya. Anya is
upset with Xander for never asking about how she feels, and tells him we never talk. The scenes
foreshadow all the characters taking their voices for granted, and becoming overwhelmed when they
are misinterpreted. When The Gentlemen steal their voices, it causes them to not be able to talk to
each other, making them realize how important communication really is. In Tough Enough : Female
Friendship and Heroism, Sharon Ross focuses on the importance of a new vision of heroism, by
discussing epistemic negotiation. The chapter also discusses how important both female friendships,
and group friendships, can be in helping to fight crime. The main idea of epistemic negotiation is
shown throughout the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer because Buffy almost always consults with her

Who Is Edward De Vere And The Life Of William Shakespeare
Who is Edward de Vere?

William Blake s Inscription On The Young Chimney Sweepers
William Blake s Inscription on the Young Chimney Sweepers
By: Kyle Fitch
Prof. Joseph McNally
Engl. 3312 B
April 20, 2015
A key point in the history of mankind was the Industrial Revolution. It was also a difficult time in
history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had to work twice as hard as the upper
class for minimum wage. A young poet by the name of William Blake became livid and motivated in
the late eighteenth century by the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney sweeping. As a result,
he created a demonstration in the arrangement of humble poetry Deeper knowledge of Blake will
reveal no darkly buried meaning, only a deeper sense in the meaning obvious to all (Schulz, Max F, 7)
. This is exactly the case in which Blake calls them The Chimney Sweepers Blake uses practicality,
rather than in depth imagery, to portray the ruthless conditions of the Industrial Revolution.
Blake was encouraged to compose a poem about these young children and their brutal lives for the
public. The public was not commonly made aware of the abuse but it was acknowledged that the
young children were being mistreated through their short lived years. Yet, history has lost sight of the
disgusting conditions the young boys encountered every day. For that reason, understanding with such
specifics does help the person who reads Blake s poem to see more clearly of Blake s accusation
towards humanity for allowing kids to be exposed to practically unlivable

West Nile Virus is a Serious Mosquito-born Virus Essay
West Nile virus is a very serious mosquito borne virus. This virus is known to affect mostly the people
in North America. It is also known to break up during the summer time and extends toward fall. The
virus was introduced into the Western Hemisphere during 1999 later summer and has been causing
significant and at times severe human diseases ever since that time (Colpitts et al., 2014).
The virus is commonly found in Africa, Middle East, and West Asia. It may have entered the United
States in an infected mosquito, bird, or traveler. Between 1999 and 2005, WNV caused 19,602 cases
of the disease in the United States, including 785 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention. (National Institutes of Health 2007) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These studies can also help decreases the cases of West Nile Virus in the United State.
West Nile Virus affects both our local communities and state communities. If the communities are
filled with infected mosquitoes that can cause these viruses, these mosquitoes can travel to other
mosquitoes, then to other states. For example if a community have stagnant water, the people in the
community will be at risk of getting the virus. People who are infected can also pass in on to other
people. Communities can reduce their risk of having the West Nile Virus by take some precautions
like the following:
Getting rid of old tires, bottles, tin cans or any container that can hold water.
Keeping drains and ditches free of trash and weeds so water can drain properly.
Keeping ruff gutter free.
Covering trash containers.
Keeping grass cut short.
Unused pools should be drained and kept dry especially during mosquito season.
(Illinois Department of Public Health, 2008)
Illinois has had many cases of the West Nile Virus resulting in more than 800 cases and more than 60
deaths in the year 2002 (idph, 2008). This outbreak occurred during one summer with above normal
temperatures, the summers that followed were much cooler than normal so there were fewer cases of
the virus (idph, 2008). The public health agencies can educate state and local communities on things
like the temperature to be most careful of the virus.

White Bed, White Walls, All Surfaces Are Padded
White bed, white walls, all surfaces are padded. I am patient 133 of the Genevieve Oaks Asylum for
the Insane. I sit up. I can hear the rain coming down outside. First the pitter patter of small drops
hitting the ground, but soon the pouring of water from the roof splashes down, as the intensity of the
rain increases. Through the dark I can see my cellmate staring at me with a blank expression. His
name is Amon and I ve known him all my life, even before I was a patient in this asylum. He s
unusually tall, thin, with black hair and very quiet. He is my only friend in this world. I can t sleep.
Every I toss and I turn and the rare moments when I can drift off, I always wake to something . I can
hear it, a faint screaming coming from deep beneath the floor. But maybe it s just my imagination. Just
the sound of the wind blowing through the trees. I hope. But the next night, a night the same as the
others, I hear the same sound. I Turned to Amon who never seems to sleep and spoke about it. just the
wind He reassured me, but deep down I have a feeling that s not it. Morning came, we go through the
motions of the day: Mealtime, showertime, freetime. During free time we re permitted to walk freely
in an open room. The doctors often come by during this time to ask questions. Questions about how
we re doing, our mental conditions etc. They observe and analyse us as if we re lab specimens. With

The Contributions Of Ernest Rutherford And The Gold Foil...
Ernest Rutherford was born in New Zealand and died in Britain, however during his life he worked
McGill University in Canada ( Ernest Rutherford Biographical , 2014). During Rutherford s life he
made significant contributions to Science; in 1998 when studying Uranium he discovered Alpha and
Beta radiation ( Ernest Rutherford: Father of nuclear science , n.d.). In 1903, Rutherford saw that a
French chemist, Paul Villard, had discovered a new type of radiation coming from radium, upon
discerning that this new radiation was different then the ones he had already discovered due to its
greater penetrating power, Rutherford named it Gamma radiation ( Ernest Rutherford , 2017). Using
his previously found out types of radiation, he discovered the concept of half life, how long it takes for
a sample of an element to decay to half its size. However, the most infamous experiment he did, was
the Gold Foil Experiment. In 1910, in order to confirm JJ Thomson s model on an atom Ernest
Rutherford conducted an experiment along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden where a thin piece
of gold was bombarded with Alpha particles, while most went through (meaning that an atom is
mostly empty space), some were deflected, and a few even bounced backwards. This led to the
discovery of the neutron, a positively charged area of the atom which was responsible for Alpha
particles being deflected and bouncing back. With this new information disproving JJ Thomson s
model, Rutherford created a new atomic

Lessons of Participation Awards In today s society, children think they need to be awarded for

awards affect how the children will act later in their life. Children will always participate if it meant
they would receive an award.
Some would just join, not try, and just participate just to get the award afterwards.
And for the ones who actually tried and got a participation award, feel like they failed.Which is a

Parents need to tell them that it is okay to lose. It s O.K. to lose, to make a mistake . (Merryman) As
young children, everyone made mistakes. That is just part of being a kid. Learning lessons from the
mistakes. Not everyone is going to be good at everything. It s through failure and mistakes that we
learn the most. (Merryman) And without mistakes, no one would learn anything important. And that
important thing is, making mistakes can open their eyes. It can show them what to do next time and
what not to do again. Even though everyone has probably made the same mistakes once or twice. One
day everyone will learn. So, if parents taught the importance of winning and losing we would not have
to worry about participation

Analyse Interpersonal Communication
Communication is a vital part of having a successful workplace. More often than not, problems in the
workplace are caused by miscommunication, or a lack of communication. The most common form of
communication used in the workplace, especially a small family business, is interpersonal
communication. But what is interpersonal communication? Communication, as defined by the
Australian concise oxford dictionary, 6th edition, is The act of imparting, esp. news (p. 280). While
interpersonal is defined as Occurring between persons, esp. reciprocally (p. 738). Therefore,
interpersonal communication can be used to describe the way we communicate in small groups. To
analyse interpersonal communication in the context of a small family business, we ... Show more

In her TEDx talk, 10 ways to have a better conversation, Celeste Headlee (2015), says that the most
important part of a conversation is being able to listen. If you cannot listen, there is no way for you to
understand what the other person is trying to convey with their words. In a small family business,
listening is an essential skill for every member of the team to have. Unlike a big company, such as
McDonalds, in a family business everyone has the same level of seniority. There are no clear roles,
this means that interpersonal communication, listening in particular, is an even more important
consideration in a small family business. If the family and their employees cannot communicate well
there would not a business to manage for much longer. A family business, especially one just hanging
on, could potentially go out of business... Another rule that Headlee (2015) says will lead to a better
conversation is if you do not know, say that you do not know. Recently, I was training a new
employee, instead of asking for help, this person would just assume things. It took my co workers and
myself a while to realise that she was putting things away in incorrect spots and telling customers
wrong information about products in the

The Social Aspect Of A Self Image
Introduction Oxford Dictionaries awarded the term Selfie as word of the year in 2013 and define this
phenomenon as a photograph that has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or web cam and
uploaded to a social media arguing the selfie to be the modern approach to self portraiture with More
then 1 Million Selfie s taken each day . The global popularity of this ritual of social networking has
even had a song dedicated to this trend, symbolising of an era of youth culture. The bandwagon
mentality fashioned from this phenomenon of a popular trend, in effect attracts greater popularity as a
result of people doing something, not based on its merit, but based on what others do. The concept of
a self image is not a new idea as the involvement of self portraits pre dates the Internet and evolving
technology. Even the photo booth dates back as far as 1880, and attracted groups of friends much as it
does today . So it would be easy to argue that there was already a social aspect to controlling your
pictures and a slowly developing technological advances would allow. Until the 1970s, instant
Polaroid cameras could be held at arm s length and encouraged people to take more intimate photos as
well as instant developing pictures. History/ Culture Lots of people claim to be the originator of the
Selfie. Since 1981 Hollywood cameraman, Lester Wisbrod claims he is first person to take celebrity
selfies. However Australia also lays claims to inventing the

What Was Andrew Johnson s Flaws
At the end of the American Civil War the United States were on the eve of destruction. In order to
avoid this destruction people in The Union had to come up with plans to rehabilitate. The first plan for
reconstruction was created by Abraham Lincoln, but it had major faults in which Lincoln s main focus
was to get the states back together and he didn t much care how. After Lincoln s assassination Andrew
Johnson not only took over the spot of presidency but he took over the responsibility for
reconstruction. Johnson composed a plan that he believed would surely work, but he too had major
flaws. Johnson s flaws were Primarily based on his views of certain people and how he handled those
views. The last plan was conceived by the congress. The people in congress looked over the two plans
preceding them, saw their errors, and forged a plan of their own. Out of these three plans the one that
would ve been the most successful is the congressional reconstruction plan.
Abraham Lincoln s views on reconstruction were that the south had never actually seceded, and this
made his plan full of compassion and fault. Some may argue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He also put African Americans in a situation similar to slavery. People could say that the place he put
African Americans was where they needed to be for reconstruction to work and that it was in no way

to get out; They were once again working in the fields and the only difference was that they weren t
property. As for treating southern leaders to harsh it was dangerous because they were what everyone
in the south looked up to. If these leaders asked them to once again revolt they surely would. Johnson

Ogilvie s Syndrome Case Report
Introduction
This case report seeks to highlight a rather uncommon yet important complication of caesarean
section; Ogilvie s Syndrome (OS). This syndrome describes the phenomenon of an acute colonic
pseudo obstruction (ACPO), often without an obvious mechanical cause. The obstruction can then
lead on to bowel perforation or ischemia.
Case Report
We present a case of a young, healthy primigravida who developed OS on Day 6 post caesarean
section (CS), complicated by a perforated caecum and fecal peritonitis. We will summarize the
sequence of events, management and outcome of the patient in this report.

Lolita
A Love Story: Or Is It? Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins, my sin, my soul (Nabokov 9). Quoted
from Vladimir Nabokov s novel Lolita, Humbert Humbert briefly describes his sensibilities towards
his love Lolita. I ve italicized love for the reason that this book is perceived often as not a true
American love story but as a pedophile s lust. The reasoning for the italicization is because I wanted to
emphasis on the point that this book offers more than that of a pedophile s love. Nabokov s novel does
a very good job of creating an interesting yet unorthodoxed plot. What Nabokov might find acceptable
in today s society, some people might find very offensive and disrupting. He does this to grab the
reader s attention; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Schmidt s passage, in the very last sentence he lists out the importance of these different fields of
the pedophile desires and wishes. He has listed them as such: sexuality, relationship and love. I feel
like what he s trying to say is that there are three stages of a pedophile and once they ve accomplished
each level they move onto the other. In relation to Nabokov s piece, Humbert Humbert quickly cycles
thru these levels with Lolita. First it was lust, then he established a relationship with Lo whether age
made a difference or not. As the novel progresses the relationship progressively enhanced his love for
her. Many critics have analyzed Nabokov s piece, and have found many different clues that suggest
that this book indeed does represent a true American love story with pedophilia left to the side. Now
that we ve categorized Humbert as a pedophile without reasonable doubt, let s move on to the reasons
why this novel should and/or is a Love Story. My first example from the text that I thought I could use
to relate this story to a Love Story, I happened to find within a critique article. Jennifer Green, author
of Aesthetic Excuses and Moral Crimes: The Convergence of Morality and Aesthetics in Nabokov s
Lolita, demonstrates how come textual clues can be used to depict whether or not this book is a Love
Story. Green uses this quote, In the car on the way to the Enchanted Hunters, Lolita announces wouldn

Evolution Of Live Birth And Snakes
Evolution of Live Birth in Snakes
The evolution of how snakes reproduce by bearing live offspring will be discussed by determining, the
evolutionary pathway of live birth, viviparity, egg laying birth, oviparity and giving live birth but
being kept in the womb in eggs until being ready to hatch, ovoviviparity. Discussion of the advantages
and disadvantages of each reproduction method will be determined. The objective of this paper is to
discuss the factors that have contributed to the evolution of snakes being viviparous.
The way snakes give birth is either through live birth, viviparity, or by laying eggs, oviparity. Snakes
are located within, Reptilia, the same class many dinosaurs were located in. Reptiles are the
descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles
that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette Jr.
1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is
believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in water
(Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and limbless snakes
evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to snakes consisting of
many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the species classified within
Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no

The Great Gatsby By Nick Carraway
The Carraways are something of a clan and we have a tradition that we re descended from the Duke of
Baccleuch, but the actual founder of my line was my grandfather s brother who came here in fifty one,
sent a substitute to the Civil War and started the wholesale hardware business that my father carries on
today. (Pg.7) Nick Carraway narrates the whole story in The Great Gatsby, and here he makes a
connection to The American Dream using his own family. In this quote the reader can see that his
family is indeed wealthy, but often connect their wealth to some far off nobleman that may or may not
have existed. Nick straightens this out by stating that the wealth is actually from his grandfather s
brother and his business, something that is continued by his own father and generates wealth through
years of hard work. This is a good example of The American Dream , but there are many other
examples of this dream throughout the story, and each has it s own meaning to the respective
character. Gatsby has his own dream of achieving Daisy s love, Daisy loves money and the attention
that comes along with it, and George Wilson dreamed of having a normal family with his wife Myrtle.
All three dreams vary because of who they belong to, but tangle together and cause problems
throughout the plot of The Great Gatsby. Even though Gatsby s dream caused numerous conflicts and
ended up with his murder, it was still what can be considered both good and bad. Jay Gatsby was born

Compare And Contrast Greek And Etruscan Art
Greek and Etruscan art 1. There are numerous instances of the Etruscan artists taking their cue from
Greek artists. The tendency was so prevalent that at one time historians considered Etruscan art as
wholly derivative. The Etruscans did copy a lot of Greek art in both technique and design. One of
those instances is in their construction of their temples. There is a definite similarity in both technique
and design. The Etruscans incorporated columns in their temples long after the Greeks started doing
so, and the similarities did not end there. There were sculptures and paintings inside the temples that
were patently Greek in design. The Etruscans traded with Greece and attacked it several times, so
there were several points of interaction and copying. The above example does not however evacuate
the fact that there was art that was patently Etruscan. That civilization had a lot of foreign influences;
from Greek to Roman, but it did have its own original art. An example is painting of tomb interiors.
Before these were dated, they were thought to be copies of Greek art. However, dating has proved that
the paintings existed before the Greeks started doing their murals. It is proof that the Etruscans did ...

The advantage of studying Etruscan culture side by side with Roman art is mainly to take advantage of
the interaction of cultures. The two civilizations were in the same area at the same time in existence.
There were conflicts, but there was also trade between the neighbors. Due to the proximity, they must
have shared numerous cultural aspects. One could find him or herself repeating research into Roman
art when the question could be answered by an aspect of Etruscan art. The two civilizations became
mutually inclusive because of that aspect of neighborliness. The aspect of Romulus and Remus being
fed by the wolf is a point of congregation for both of the civilizations. That congruence is significant
because the concept is central to the existence of both

Morality In Antigone
Uniqueness is a feat all on its own. Oftentimes, many feel as though they will be judged or ostracized
from society for being different from others. In Antigone, a play written by Sophocles, the main
protagonist encounters opposing forces that try to cease her chances of morally accomplishing an
honest and just deed. Antigone, the main protagonist, is left to essentially fend for herself against the
woes of society and their beliefs. As Antigone refuses to comply, revelations are made about herself
and others that contribute to the morals and ethics of the conflicts made. Morality plays a significant
part in the play; it is emphasized greatly by Antigone as she attempts to bury the body of her brother,
Polyneices. She emphasizes her reasons

Domestic System Vs Factory System
The Industrial Revolution is one of the most influential periods of time in history. The difference
between the factory and the domestic systems and how they emerged are what make this time period
the most interesting. It s bewildering how in such little time we went from working at home by
ourselves producing very little to working on a large scale and producing many thing at once.
The change from the Domestic system to the factory system was caused by the people s need of
material things faster. One reason this whole ordeal started was because of the enclosure acts. The
enclosure acts closed parts of land and gave certain people legal rights to the property. They set these
enclosure acts so farming would be done more efficiently, but as ... Show more content on

  • 2. Returning to School Essay Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45 years old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I have been working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in survival mode for so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me accomplish more than I ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I may become a teacher. Our low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been struggling for so long that now it is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those around me, hopefully resulting in an increase in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three jobs, and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel welcome. Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the house is a mess, the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent, and no money to buy any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of garbage outside and inside. I am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food banks for our food. I m so embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit. I hear the kids and my husband saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I am not home to keep things clean, or help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight each day just to prove myself, to those closest to me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with one of the counselors at school, to see if they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so many different types of people throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important enough to you. Giving up is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need to take place, getting everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need ... In these groups, the one adult male reproducing genetically similar females. The main purpose that the author (John L. Hoogland) tries to convey and support his earlier work on prairie dogs. In this summary, there is several references to his earlier work, called Analysis of the Mating System in the Black Tailed Prairie Dog (AMSBTPD). These prairie dogs exist where some females and pups (yearlings) within the coteries do not breed. Moreover, they behave parentally towards non offspring. In addition, the Hoogland classified black tailed prairie dogs as cooperative breeders; however, they do not assist breeders to the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michener and Murie also argue that Hoogland assumption is based on old information and too soon to surmise that hypothesis. Hoogland states, equivalent to the former, that the direct relationship between coterie size and LRS of females is a hypothesis. Also, should not solely determine black tails as cooperative breeders (Hoogland 1983). I find Hoogland last argument inadequate because he makes a prediction off statistics that deviate from his original hypothesis. Although it is acceptable, it does not support his argument; and, consequently, taken advantage of. Future research on the LRS of black tailed prairie dogs will determine if prairie dogs are cooperatively breeder. These are just a few of the examples, which I find significant of the arguments that occurs in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood Comparison Analysis In the poems The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood, anonymous authors give way to the idea that an Almighty God will solve every problem a person has by doing two things: 1) drawing upon the memories of a warrior who has lost everything near and dear to him due to war, and 2) entering the dream of a man who has been exiled and isolated. Each piece takes its reader through the trials and tribulations that one may not relate to in this era, yet the reader is still there alongside the character wanting them to find peace with their world and themselves. Initially, it is believed that the characters will overcome their hardships and achieve the happiness they seek. However, as the reader delves deeper into the character s story, there is an overwhelming sense of incompleteness. What actually happens at the end of each piece is not written in stone telling us the story is not whole nor has a conclusion been reached. The intrapersonal thoughts being shared with the reader reveal the obstacles that keep an overall wholeness from occurring. Starting with The Wanderer, the speaker begins his tale by reminiscing upon his trials and tribulations of which he has suffered a great deal and longs for relief, the Almighty s mercy (118). He has lost his friends and no longer has anyone to confide in, forcing him to be alone with his thoughts: So I must hold in the thoughts of my heart (118). In the midst of his grieving, the Wanderer recalls a joyous occasions, such as when his friend and lord helped him to the feast (119), only to realize that what once was, is no longer. He finds comfort in his dreams, longing to be back with his liege lord again only to awaken and have reality come shattering down upon him (119). However, he comes to the conclusion that through hardship and suffering, one matures, grows, learns his place in life and how a good man holds his words back, tells his woes not too soon, baring his inner heart before knowing the best way (120). Throughout this piece, the Wanderer is struggling with losing much of what made his life whole and debating whether or not the war was worth the suffering he is faced with with no one by his side. • 8. The Importance Of Recess And Time For Physical Activity Every day, adults manage their work days, which include breaks. While at work, adults do many tasks, but typically do not focus on one task for a three hour period without taking a break. By not providing breaks or recess, children are asked to focus for a longer period of time than most adults do in a day. Everyone benefits from breaks in the day and these coffee or recess breaks allow people to return to a task more focused and with improved concentration. Removing recess and unstructured physical activity time from the school day can have a serious impact on children s health and well being. Recess and time for physical activity is not only important to the overall health of children, it also provides an outlet that helps with the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. In addition, it is also common for recess to be taken away from students who misbehave. Unfortunately, it is these types of students who benefit most from recess, the physical activity, and breaks that is provided away from classroom instruction ( Yay For Recess ). Physical activity and recess for elementary school children should remain a part of the school day to improve academic performance and decrease negative behavior. Over the last ten years, the debate about the effect of recess and physical activity have frequently changed. In the past, recess and physical activity were a standard part of the school day. Currently, only 18% of states require elementary schools to have daily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. What Led To Progressivism Dbq What led to progressivism was the Industrial Revolution. This brought prosperity to America but at a great cost. While the big businesses were booming and making America a stronger country the middle and lower class was suffering. This was called the Gilded Age because when an outside country would look at America it would assume they are fine but on the inside it isn t. This all changed however when the people had enough of bad working conditions, unfair wages, dangerous machines, and child labor. Through the persistence of the people and the help of two very progressive presidents named Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson they changed the country for the better. Progressivism was effective on a national level for some aspects but not all. The people also wanted to have a more safe and fair working environment. Before progressivism there was no laws on food or product production making it very unsafe for the consumer to know what he is buying. Journalists called muckrakers would call attention to this by writing about the horrible conditions in factories. One of these muckrakers named Upton Sinclair wrote a book called The Jungle which talked about the unsanitary atmosphere the meat was produced in. This book brought so much attention that the Meat Inspection Act was passed in 1906 by president Roosevelt. This act made strict cleanliness requirements for meatpackers to ensure the general people a healthy meal.(Document B). Another act that was passed at this time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no longer a typical Australian food, instead it has imported and embraced cuisines from around the world. There is no longer a typical Australian life instead each immigrant can have their own culture in Australia. There are few national holidays and festivals that are unique to Australia, but rather have come from other cultures. Secondly, Australia consists of many cultures where each cultural group is allowed to have their own unique culture without integrating with Australian people. One could come from China and not even have to speak English because there are so many Chinese people in Australia over 1,950,000 Chinese live in Australia. Since Australia has many mixed cultures one could have their own culture in Australia. So many immigrants have come in a short space of time from over 226 different cultures thus diluting Australia s original culture. Migrants have enriched almost every aspect of Australian life, from business to the arts, from cooking to comedy and from science to sport. Australia s laws allow immigrants to express their own culture here. This all the more showing that Australia consists of many diverse cultures and that immigrants have changed the lifestyle in Australia. Lastly, most, if not all of Australia s national holidays and festivals, have come from diverse cultures. • 13. Why Do Christians Need To Read The Old Testament Many contemporary Christians feel that the Old Testament does not apply to them because they are living under a New Covenant with new requisites, and that the Old Testament has a far off God and not like the personal narrative of God in the New Testament with Jesus or the Holy Spirit. However, Christians need to understand that the Old Testament is not just about covenants and requisites, but the Old Testament is about God connecting to His people so that they might draw closer to Him. Christians ought to read the Old Testament to keep God s commands, to understand that He does not change, and to learn how the Old Testament applies to their faith. Hence, Christians should understand the context of the Old Testament better to comprehend what the text is saying about God and His children drawing closer. Thus, Christians should read the Old Testament because the Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Authority is what makes the Old Testament more than just fine literature (pg 26). Therefore the key to why Christians must read the Old Testament is because of the authority from God it has, and thus through reading his scripture we are rewarded with words from God. After class Riley tries to get Buffy to tell him about her dream, but she tells him I m not saying a word. The episode then goes to Xander and his girlfriend Anya. Anya is upset with Xander for never asking about how she feels, and tells him we never talk. The scenes foreshadow all the characters taking their voices for granted, and becoming overwhelmed when they are misinterpreted. When The Gentlemen steal their voices, it causes them to not be able to talk to each other, making them realize how important communication really is. In Tough Enough : Female Friendship and Heroism, Sharon Ross focuses on the importance of a new vision of heroism, by discussing epistemic negotiation. • 16. William Blake s Inscription On The Young Chimney Sweepers William Blake s Inscription on the Young Chimney Sweepers By: Kyle Fitch Prof. Joseph McNally Engl. 3312 B April 20, 2015 A key point in the history of mankind was the Industrial Revolution. It was also a difficult time in history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had to work twice as hard as the upper class for minimum wage. A young poet by the name of William Blake became livid and motivated in the late eighteenth century by the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney sweeping. As a result, he created a demonstration in the arrangement of humble poetry Deeper knowledge of Blake will reveal no darkly buried meaning, only a deeper sense in the meaning obvious to all (Schulz, Max F, 7) . This is exactly the case in which Blake calls them The Chimney Sweepers Blake uses practicality, rather than in depth imagery, to portray the ruthless conditions of the Industrial Revolution. Blake was encouraged to compose a poem about these young children and their brutal lives for the public. The public was not commonly made aware of the abuse but it was acknowledged that the young children were being mistreated through their short lived years. Yet, history has lost sight of the disgusting conditions the young boys encountered every day. For that reason, understanding with such specifics does help the person who reads Blake s poem to see more clearly of Blake s accusation towards humanity for allowing kids to be exposed to practically unlivable ... • 19. The Contributions Of Ernest Rutherford And The Gold Foil... Ernest Rutherford was born in New Zealand and died in Britain, however during his life he worked McGill University in Canada ( Ernest Rutherford Biographical , 2014). During Rutherford s life he made significant contributions to Science; in 1998 when studying Uranium he discovered Alpha and Beta radiation ( Ernest Rutherford: Father of nuclear science , n.d.). In 1903, Rutherford saw that a French chemist, Paul Villard, had discovered a new type of radiation coming from radium, upon discerning that this new radiation was different then the ones he had already discovered due to its greater penetrating power, Rutherford named it Gamma radiation ( Ernest Rutherford , 2017). Using his previously found out types of radiation, he discovered the concept of half life, how long it takes for a sample of an element to decay to half its size. However, the most infamous experiment he did, was the Gold Foil Experiment. In 1910, in order to confirm JJ Thomson s model on an atom Ernest Rutherford conducted an experiment along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden where a thin piece of gold was bombarded with Alpha particles, while most went through (meaning that an atom is mostly empty space), some were deflected, and a few even bounced backwards. This led to the discovery of the neutron, a positively charged area of the atom which was responsible for Alpha particles being deflected and bouncing back. Participation awards do not always teach children the lessons they need to learn. Participation awards can always be great, but it is not teaching the children the lessons we want them to learn. We must focus on process and progress, not results and rewards, (Merryman). The awards affect how the children will act later in their life. More often than not, problems in the workplace are caused by miscommunication, or a lack of communication. The most common form of communication used in the workplace, especially a small family business, is interpersonal communication. But what is interpersonal communication? Communication, as defined by the Australian concise oxford dictionary, 6th edition, is The act of imparting, esp. news (p. 280). In her TEDx talk, 10 ways to have a better conversation, Celeste Headlee (2015), says that the most important part of a conversation is being able to listen. If you cannot listen, there is no way for you to understand what the other person is trying to convey with their words. In a small family business, listening is an essential skill for every member of the team to have. Unlike a big company, such as McDonalds, in a family business everyone has the same level of seniority. There are no clear roles, this means that interpersonal communication, listening in particular, is an even more important consideration in a small family business. If the family and their employees cannot communicate well there would not a business to manage for much longer. A family business, especially one just hanging on, could potentially go out of business... Another rule that Headlee (2015) says will lead to a better conversation is if you do not know, say that you do not know. The global popularity of this ritual of social networking has even had a song dedicated to this trend, symbolising of an era of youth culture. The bandwagon mentality fashioned from this phenomenon of a popular trend, in effect attracts greater popularity as a result of people doing something, not based on its merit, but based on what others do. The concept of a self image is not a new idea as the involvement of self portraits pre dates the Internet and evolving technology. Even the photo booth dates back as far as 1880, and attracted groups of friends much as it does today . So it would be easy to argue that there was already a social aspect to controlling your pictures and a slowly developing technological advances would allow. In order to avoid this destruction people in The Union had to come up with plans to rehabilitate. The first plan for reconstruction was created by Abraham Lincoln, but it had major faults in which Lincoln s main focus was to get the states back together and he didn t much care how. After Lincoln s assassination Andrew Johnson not only took over the spot of presidency but he took over the responsibility for reconstruction. Johnson composed a plan that he believed would surely work, but he too had major flaws. Johnson s flaws were Primarily based on his views of certain people and how he handled those views. The last plan was conceived by the congress. The people in congress looked over the two plans preceding them, saw their errors, and forged a plan of their own. Quoted from Vladimir Nabokov s novel Lolita, Humbert Humbert briefly describes his sensibilities towards his love Lolita. I ve italicized love for the reason that this book is perceived often as not a true American love story but as a pedophile s lust. The reasoning for the italicization is because I wanted to emphasis on the point that this book offers more than that of a pedophile s love. Nabokov s novel does a very good job of creating an interesting yet unorthodoxed plot. What Nabokov might find acceptable in today s society, some people might find very offensive and disrupting. He does this to grab the reader s attention; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Schmidt s passage, in the very last sentence he lists out the importance of these different fields of the pedophile desires and wishes. He has listed them as such: sexuality, relationship and love. I feel like what he s trying to say is that there are three stages of a pedophile and once they ve accomplished each level they move onto the other. In relation to Nabokov s piece, Humbert Humbert quickly cycles thru these levels with Lolita. First it was lust, then he established a relationship with Lo whether age made a difference or not. As the novel progresses the relationship progressively enhanced his love for her. Many critics have analyzed Nabokov s piece, and have found many different clues that suggest that this book indeed does represent a true American love story with pedophilia left to the side. Now that we ve categorized Humbert as a pedophile without reasonable doubt, let s move on to the reasons why this novel should and/or is a Love Story. My first example from the text that I thought I could use to relate this story to a Love Story, I happened to find within a critique article. Jennifer Green, author of Aesthetic Excuses and Moral Crimes: The Convergence of Morality and Aesthetics in Nabokov s Lolita, demonstrates how come textual clues can be used to depict whether or not this book is a Love Story. Evolution Of Live Birth And Snakes Evolution of Live Birth in Snakes The evolution of how snakes reproduce by bearing live offspring will be discussed by determining, the evolutionary pathway of live birth, viviparity, egg laying birth, oviparity and giving live birth but being kept in the womb in eggs until being ready to hatch, ovoviviparity. Discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each reproduction method will be determined. The objective of this paper is to discuss the factors that have contributed to the evolution of snakes being viviparous. The way snakes give birth is either through live birth, viviparity, or by laying eggs, oviparity. Snakes are located within, Reptilia, the same class many dinosaurs were located in. Reptiles are the descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette Jr. 1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in water (Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and limbless snakes evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to snakes consisting of many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the species classified within Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Great Gatsby By Nick Carraway The Carraways are something of a clan and we have a tradition that we re descended from the Duke of Baccleuch, but the actual founder of my line was my grandfather s brother who came here in fifty one, sent a substitute to the Civil War and started the wholesale hardware business that my father carries on today. (Pg.7) Nick Carraway narrates the whole story in The Great Gatsby, and here he makes a connection to The American Dream using his own family. In this quote the reader can see that his family is indeed wealthy, but often connect their wealth to some far off nobleman that may or may not have existed. Nick straightens this out by stating that the wealth is actually from his grandfather s brother and his business, something that is continued by his own father and generates wealth through years of hard work. This is a good example of The American Dream , but there are many other examples of this dream throughout the story, and each has it s own meaning to the respective character. Gatsby has his own dream of achieving Daisy s love, Daisy loves money and the attention that comes along with it, and George Wilson dreamed of having a normal family with his wife Myrtle. All three dreams vary because of who they belong to, but tangle together and cause problems throughout the plot of The Great Gatsby. Even though Gatsby s dream caused numerous conflicts and ended up with his murder, it was still what can be considered both good and bad. Jay Gatsby was born ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Compare And Contrast Greek And Etruscan Art Greek and Etruscan art 1. There are numerous instances of the Etruscan artists taking their cue from Greek artists. The tendency was so prevalent that at one time historians considered Etruscan art as wholly derivative. The Etruscans did copy a lot of Greek art in both technique and design. One of those instances is in their construction of their temples. There is a definite similarity in both technique and design. The Etruscans incorporated columns in their temples long after the Greeks started doing so, and the similarities did not end there. There were sculptures and paintings inside the temples that were patently Greek in design. The Etruscans traded with Greece and attacked it several times, so there were several points of interaction and copying. The above example does not however evacuate the fact that there was art that was patently Etruscan. That civilization had a lot of foreign influences; from Greek to Roman, but it did have its own original art. An example is painting of tomb interiors. Before these were dated, they were thought to be copies of Greek art. However, dating has proved that the paintings existed before the Greeks started doing their murals.
