Minimum Driving Age
In California, there has been an ongoing issue and a big debate on whether the minimum age for
driving a car needs to be eighteen. This argument has people agreeing and disagreeing with this
matter. Unlike older and more experienced drivers, the young generation of drivers makes up most
of the causes of life threatening accidents. Therefore, in order to decrease the number of life
threatening accidents substantially the drivingage limit should be raised to eighteen.
Earning a driver s license is most important for most young Americans, but teens are the ones
with poor driving performance. According to traffic safety facts (22) in 2008: 5,864 15 20 year
old drivers were involved in dangerous crashes. Teens are proven to have road rage. Teens, in
fact, love to drive at night with other teens speeding through the streets. Statistics show that
young people ages 15 20 can make up the total percent of the driving population. 14 percent are
involved in dangerous crashes. This percentage of crashes needs to be reduced. The only possible
way to upturn the level of maturity when it comes to driving a car would be the age of an eighteen
year old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive consequences would be that there would be more responsible drivers out on the road.
Studies show by the states law association of teens driving that 500 people and more, are mostly
the teens in u.s that died during the year 2012. By having more responsible out on the road teens
will realize that there are things more important than texting, driving and drinking. Negative
consequences are that teens will not obey the laws. Driving without a license. Teens will also
have less of an opportunity to get a job. Teens don t know how much of the consequences come
with driving, teens just want a car so they can get away and by this teens don t drive the right,

Modern Humans And The Existence Of The Planet
Modern humans have been on Earth for more than 200,000 years. Although many people feel
that 200,000 years is a fairly long time for us to have existed as a species, it is quite the opposite.
The earth is estimated to have been made 4.54 billion years ago. Life as we know it is estimated to
have begun 4 billion years ago. When comparing the existence of the humanrace to the existence of
the planet we live on or the existence of all forms of life, it becomes very apparent that the
humans species time on this planet has been relatively miniscule. If you took the entire history of
the 13.7 billion year old universe and compressed it into one year, the first humans would not even
show up until 10:30 pm on December 31st.
Without having a good understanding of how short our stay on this planet has been, it s very
hard for people to imagine a future where humans are no longer an existing species. With how
short of a time span we have existed here, and how many species have come and gone in the
history of earth, it is not too irrational to fear the possibility of human extinction. Clearly this isn t
a threat that is anywhere near imminent, but that is no reason to give it any less thought. A huge
flaw of the human race is that we often tend to be short sighted. We focus on problems that are
affecting us now or will affect us in the near future, and this is the reason why getting people to do
anything to prevent climate change or even just accept is so difficult. The possibility

School Shootings Throughout the United States
Recently there have been many school shootings throughout the United States and the world.
Most of these shooting were all connected with the shooter being on anti depressant medications.
In an article called Medicated to death: by SSRI s and mass killings by Lisa Arbercheski, she
writes that SSRI s are linked to the cause of most shootings. Selective Serotonin Reuptake
Inhibitors (SSRI) is one of the most popular medications taken for depression in many countries.
Some are known by their popular names like Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and Paxil. These
medications have many tests done and none of them prove that they cure depression or mood
swings. Could these medications be connected to some of the most recent shootings like the one
in Newton, Connecticut? The case is that these medications are causing adolescents to go on
suicidal rampage shootings and the United States is trying to play it off like the medications have
no connection. Many of these young people committing these crimes are doing it because there is
some type of rejection in their life. Doctors try to alleviate there symptoms by giving them higher
doses of medication making it worse. In the article by Arbercheski she describes a shooting on
December of 2000 when Micheal McDermott went on a shooting rampage at his workplace. It was
determined during his trial that he had increased his antidepressantmedication, Prozac, from 70
milligrams to 210 milligrams per day. There was also two other recent cases where

Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League
Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their
respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National
Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college
eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants
in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility
maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide
an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of
commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially
constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the
opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision
making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction
framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this
decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that
the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences
and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases
chronologically, delving into the

Benefits Of Farina
Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking
about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for
us.
What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals
First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin
word which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be
the germ and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and
then filtered.
Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a
hot cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly,
which also makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is
typically flavored with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and
cinnamon, or sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... Show more content on

It is sometimes white in color, which means it must be processed. Therefore, when buying this
type of Farina, you should check the source as well read the ingredients. Farina can part of the
wheat flour used in baked goods. Given the grain s strong protein value, so when used in this way it
enhances the food s nutritional qualities.
What nutritional qualities is Farina rich in?
Farina is a highly rich source of carbohydrates. If the wheat has been enriched, it becomes the best
food source for nutritional iron. This is especially important for vegetarian diets, with some brands
providing as much as 50% of the recommended daily amount with a single 120 calorie serving.
Unlike commercial cereals, the fiber and best part of the germ are separated, and the germ is
sometimes enriched with Vitamin B and

Example Of Holistic Care
Holistic Care is seen as the way in which the patient is cared for as a whole by looking not just at
their physical or medical needs but also at their spiritual, psychological and social needs while in
the clinical setting (Johns C. 2012, Rushton L. 2014). One of the main outcomes for holistic
care is patients receiving the best standard of care and also patient satisfaction in their care. This
is due to the patient being cared for in a way that doesn t just look at their disease and uses
person centered care instead of the traditional medical model of nursing (McGeorge N. 2010). In
order to adequately care for the patients that we see in clinical settings we must look at them
holistically and not care for them solely using the medical model of nursing. Holistic care is
especially important for patients who are under going surgery, like this patient who was getting a
short gamma nail placed in her femur, as it helps to promote healing post operatively by
encouraging compliance with the care they need. It also helps to reduce the anxiety felt by the
patient as they feel they are not being ignored by the staff looking after them (Selimen D. 2011). I
am going to reflect upon this entry using The Reflective Cycle by Gibbs (1988), taking the

The physical symptoms of a patient are often the only ones that are constantly looked at as patient
care is prioritised by level of urgency. This leads to the threat that the patient will become isolated
and lonely (Cassidy I.2006). It is therefore more important to consider those who have these
infectious infections as they are excluded more from the clinical environment to prevent them from
spreading (Spense M.

Comparing Brutus And Cassius In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar
In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar , Brutus and Cassius are very important characters, sharing many
similarities and differences. Brutus is a more dominant and noble character, honest and naive.
Cassius is a more manipulative, perceptive character. They both take part in the more dramatic
scenes and are essential to the play itself. They differ in the way they perceive Antony as a threat to
the assassination plot, their dominance in personality, and their moral obligation. To begin with, an
important similarity of Cassius and Brutus is that they re both two of the most noble and honorable
people in Rome, and both end up in the going down similar paths throughout the story. They re both
conspirators that assassinated Caesar and in the end they both fought the battle against Antony and
Octavius, both Cassius and Brutus died the same way. However, despite them having had similar
roles and plots they have very different personalities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cassius s personality led to his downfall when he murders Caesar over jealousy and anger
without thinking clearly the about consequences, and because of his murder of Caesar he and his
conspirators were condemned by the Romans as traitors and murderers instead of bringers of
justice; if Cassius had thought about it more before he killing Caesar then he wouldn t have been
condemned to death and defeated by Antony s army. Cassius also showed cunningness as he could
easily fool Brutus into taking part in this plan by tricking him into thinking that Caesar is taking

Linguistic Factors Of Diglossia
The contact between languages is one of the various fields investigated by socio linguistics.
Commonly it is thought that monolingualism is the most usual linguistic behaviour but language
studies disprove this belief showing that all speech communities and individuals hold a rich
linguistic repertoire which may include two or more distinct languages, different varieties of the
same languageand a wide range of registers, styles, social codes etc.
The concept of linguistic repertoire is not to be intended as a mere sum of linguistic codes since it
also concerns the way such codes interact with one another, their hierarchy and the rules running
their use. In order to clear up the logic underlying the relations emerging from the steady contact
among languages sociolinguistics introduced concepts such as diglossia code switching,
bilingualism, dilalia etc.
In the following essay the focus will essentially be on the difference between the concepts of
diglossia and code switching alongside with the description of some examples supported by an
attempt to identify the non linguistic factors which affect speakers linguistic choices.
The first scholar to introduce the term diglossia was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Classical Arabic is the H variety used for very formal interactions, in writing, university lectures
and is revered as the language of the Koran. Whereas for most everyday conversations people use
the various regional L varieties. (Holmes 2001: 29) To be acquainted with the principles
determining the choice of the appropriate variety in the right context is relevant in so far as it
signals the speaker s belonging to and understanding of a linguistic culture . In fact the ignorance
of such principles is considered a real social gaffe and is responsible for the stigmatisation of the
speakers who are not able to use the H and L

Oligopoly in the US Economy
Oligopoly in the U.S. Economy Introduction Oligopoly is defined as a market structure in which
there are a few major firms dominating the market in an industry. One of the defining factors is
that each firm explicitly feeds off of the competitors moves and their potential responses in
regard to setting prices, launching new products, etc. Under this model there is a level of
implied cooperation. The firms understand that it is in their own best interests to maintain a
stable price. If one of the firms subsequently lowers their prices, their competitors will do the
same and knock out any advantage the original firm was hoping to gain with lower prices.
However, if they raise their prices, the competitors may not do the same and can keep their
prices fixed which will allow them to gain more market share. Another key factor in oligopolies is
that there are significant barriers to entry in the industry. These barriers are constructed by factors
such as high fixed costs, availability of resources, and brand loyalty. Smaller firms that wish to
enter the market will not have the necessary resources to compete with these large firms. Also in
the oligopoly structure, market shares generally change very little from year to year. Many of the
gains made in market share are through acquisitions of smaller competitors in the industry which
are then consolidated into the parent firm. Example of Oligopoly Many argue that an example of
an oligopoly market structure many be provided

Analysis Of Gryphon By Charles Baxter
Gryphon is an thrilling fiction story by the funny author Charles Baxter. The story take place in a
classroom in Five Oaks, Michigan and is about an ordinary 6th grade boy, Tommy who encounters
a strange sub named Ms. Ferenczi. The message that Charles Baxter is giving us is that everyone is
different and nothing is wrong with that. Firstly, Ms. Ferenczi doesn t act like the other substitute

kids over eatingwith the teachers in the teachers lounge. Ms. Ferenczi strongly argues That s fine,

Synthesis of Isopentyl Acetate Via Fischer Esterification...
Experiment 1: Synthesis of Isopentyl Acetate via Fischer Esterification Introduction: Isopentyl
acetate, banana oil, is a naturally occurring compound that has a very distinct and recognizable
odor. It is most commonly found in bananas but also can be found in other organisms. The
purpose of this lab was to synthesize the ester isopentyl acetate via an acid catalyzed esterification
(Fischer Esterification) of acetic acid with isopentyl alcohol. Emil Fischer and Arthur Speier were
the pioneers of this reaction referred to as Fischer Esterification. The reaction is characterized by
the combining of an alcohol and an acid (with an acid catalyst) to yield and ester plus water. In

Once cooled, the mixture was then transferred to a separatory funnel using the funnel while
avoiding adding the boiling chip. 10 ml of water was then added to the mixture. The mixture
was gently shaken and the phases were allowed to separate. The funnel was then unstopped and
the lower aqueous phase was drained into a beaker. 5 ml of 5% aqueous NaHCO3 was added
and then shaken gently. A great deal of caution was taken into consideration because of the
production of carbon dioxide gas which caused pressure to develop inside the funnel. The
pressure needed to be released so the funnel was vented frequently. The phases were allowed to
separate and the lower aqueous phases was drained into the beaker. After draining, 5 ml of
saturated NaCl was added to the funnel and then shaken gently. Once again, the phases were
allowed to separate and the lower aqueous phase was drained into a beaker. An ester product was
produced and was transferred into a 25 ml Erlenmeyer flask. This organic product was then dried
over anhydrous Na2SO4 to trap small amounts of water in its crystal lattices thus removing it from
the product. Finally the ester was decanted, so that the drying agent was excluded from the final
product. Results and Discussion: Fischer esterification is the primary way of synthesizing this ester.

Excitatory Essay
The excitatory (glutamatergic) inputs to the hippocampal formation originate from the neurons in
the different layers of the entorhinal cortexcite {1}cite{2}cite{3}cite{4}cite{5}. The axons,
projecting from the superficial second layer of entorhinal cortex to dentate gyrus and CA3,
constitute for the perforant pathway and are strictly unidirectional and excitatory cite{2}. Whilst
layer II neurons of entorhinal cortex innervate the neurons found in dentate gyrus and the CA3
neurons, neurons from layer III of entorhinal cortex send their axons to subiculum and CA1. The
granule cells, synonymously called principal cells, are located in the granule cell layer of dentate

Axons projecting from the infrapyramidal blade enter the CA3 in the infrapyramidal bundle before
perforating the pyramidal cells to aborize the stratum lucidum. Mossy fiber axons projecting from
the suprapyramidal blade aborize stratum lucidum first after they enter the suprapyramidal bundle.
This is another example of the high organizaton of the neuronal trajectory in hippocampal
formationcite{2}cite{6}. There are two main pathways originating from the CA3 neurons, the
first is the direct projection of these neurons towards the fimbria and the second is the subsequent
collateral pathway created by the backward propagation of the diverged CA3 axonscite{1}. These
axons, known as Schaffer collaterals, are the main excitatory input to the pyramidal cells located in
the first region of hippocampus proper, an innervation mediated through the distal dendritic spines
of the CA1 neurons in an en passant fashioncite{7}, where the synaptic transmission occurs along
the axonal bodycite{8}cite{7}. The CA1 neurons, in turn, innervate other hippocampal areas by
sending their axons toward the fimbria, subiculum and contralateral hippocampus via the
associational commisural pathway and forms the main output of the hippocampal

Human Trafficking Victims Report
Victims of human trafficking continue to face health consequences years after their release.
Potentially one of the most devastating forms of human trafficking, sex trafficking and its
associated sexual abuse is responsible for the majority of long term health conditions that arise from
trafficking (Muftic Finn, 2013). According to Muftic and Finn (2013), women who enter into sex
work via human trafficking, are at even greater odds of suffering from severe health conditions
...than women who enter into sex work by other means (p. 1866). Other factors such as length of

women forced into sex trafficking, the menstrual cycle can be seen as a huge problem for
traffickers, as a result of the temporary reduction in earning power (Peters, 2013). In order to avoid
the financial loss associated with a woman s menstrual cycle, traffickers will block the female s

Boundaries In The United States And The Galapagos Islands
A constructive boundary is a boundary that seems to add to the surface of the earth, one example
would be mountains. These plate boundaries include continental oceanic boundary, oceanic oceanic
boundary, and continental continental boundary. For continental oceanic convergent the oceanic
sinks under the lighter continental plate and then melts into magma, this magma rises through the
crust to form volcanoes. An oceanic oceanic convergent boundarycreates volcanic island chain, by
the subduction and melting of one plate then magma rises through the crust to form islands and
volcanoes. A continental continental convergent boundary is where two continental plates collide
and neither of them are dense enough to subdue so the wrinkle up to form mountains. One example
of this is the Himalayan mountains which are formed from the Indian continental plate pushing into
the Eurasian plate causing the to ruffle up into mountains.
One great example of this the Galapagos Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands located off the
coast of Ecuador. Theses islands are formed from two oceanic plates pushing against one another.

Odysseus, An Egotistical Cretin
Odysseus tells Athena, whom he believes is a shepherd, a false account, of how he came to Ithaca,
primarily since he needs to keep his identity a secret, familiarize himself with the situation on
Ithaca and formulate a plan to execute the suitors. He perceives that he has arrived in a mist
shrouded and unknown land. And thus secondarily, he needs to present a feasible reason for being
alone and stranded with copious amounts of treasure for safety reasons as well as to allay suspicion
in relation to his identity. Athenaaffects how he tells his lie because he can see and listen to her. To

Hence, this absence of kleos portrays Odysseus as calculating, merciless and dishonorable. This
would warn the shepherd not to try to steal from Odysseus as Orsilokhos attempted because
Odysseus does not care for glory and will slaughter him in any way he can whether or not it
damages his reputation. The images evoked from Troy, all I had fought and bled for , serve to
somewhat justify his murder of Orsilokhos and show some appreciation for honest work, when it
serves him, and could function to make the shepherd feel less fear towards a murderous foreigner.
Mostly, this information gives the shepherd a distinct warning not to attempt to harm or steal from
him because not only is he a hardened warrior who survived a ten year war at Troy, but he has
already murdered royalty, dishonorably, in his own homeland for trying to take his hard earned
possessions. Obviously, he would have no qualms about killing a shepherd in a different country for
attempting the same.
Odysseus also mentions that he was not subservient to Idomeneus at Troy. He even led a command
of men not under Idomeneus, which would be skirting on treason. Though it was not admirable to
disregard duty, it allowed Odysseus a unit of men who would presumably die for him and could
potentially be used to overthrow Idomeneus

children that are second generation American labor workers in 2030 that could potentially face a
wage disadvantage of about 10 percent, but on average, the socioeconomic performance of
offspring of immigrants exceeds that of their parents. (Borjas, 2006). There is a larger variation in

Fear In Beowulf
The Ultimate Emotion Fear is the ultimate emotion because it is both mankind s greatest strength
and greatest flaw. It gives us reason, but can also be irrational. If one can surpass their fears, it
can reward them greatly. Robinson Crusoe, by Daniel Defoe, follows a life of an adventurer from
a young age and his story of traveling the world. Robinson, the main character, gets into many
dangerous situations, from being enslaved by pirates, to being shipwrecked and being stuck on a
deserted island. Robinson has to conquer many fears. Another story that fearis prevalent in is
Beowulf, which follows the story of a supernatural human, Beowulf, who fights multiple monsters
that no mortal could defeat. Lastly, fear is prevalent in The Wife... Show more content on

The theme is given in short and repetitive bits. Additionally, Defoe shows this in the way he
reacts to seeing the footprint on the beach. He fears that first it is the devil, but then fears what
is the truth, that there are cannibals on the island. He ends up overcoming that by thinking to
himself I do not mean, that I am entertain d by any Fear of their Number; for as they were naked,
unarm d Wretches, tis certain I was superior to them (Defoe 232). He uses logic to get over the
fear of the cannibals, realizing he should not be afraid because they do not have any guns and
though they have the numbers they are not immensely intelligent. In Beowulf, the plot
development is in one big umbrella and then separated into three, in each battle. In the third part
of the plot development of the theme is when Beowulf fights the dragon. Wiglaf, one of Beowulf
s followers, is overcome with fear when he sees the dragon and needs to fight it, so he proceeds
to run away. However; when Beowulf needs him, he faces his fear and eventually defeats the
dragon. As Beowulf is dying for his bravery Wiglaf is awarded his kingdom, once again proving
that if one faces their fears they can secure the benefits. What I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people,
Help them, my time is gone. (Beowulf l. 811 812). In the Wife of Bath s Tale the theme is derived
from a plot development as well, but only a single event makes it that

Ray Bradbury s Flying Machine
Flying Machine by Ray Bradbury is a short story that highlights the consequences of possessing
too much power, jealousy, and fear among other themes, through the use of symbolism, diction,
metaphor, and foreshadowing. Furthermore, Bradbury shows that it is very common for people
to disregard the interests of others, in order to benefit his or herself. Ancient Chinese culture
contains many symbolic creatures and objects. The most prominent and common symbol
however, is arguably the dragon. The Chinese dragon is symbolic of great power over air, sea,
and land, and it is believed that they control rainfall, floods, and typhoons. In Flying Machine ,
the man is flying above the Great Wall, in a contraption that had a similar appearance to a
dragon. It is as a result of this that Emperor Yuan reacted so severely upon the sight. Some other
man who, seeing you, will build a thing of bright papers and bamboo like this. But the other man
will have an evil face and an evil heart, and the beauty will be gone. It is this man I... Show more

Another major symbol in the story is the Great Wall itself. The Emperor realizes its significance
to the people of China, and he feels like the flying man jeopardizes the wall, thus jeopardizing
them also. That wonderful wall which had protected them for a timeless time from enemy hordes
and preserved peace for years without number. He saw the town, nestled to itself by a river and a
road and a hill, beginning to waken (31, 32). This indicates that the wall is of the utmost
importance to the country, as well as him personally, and this is the first time that he realizes that it
might be in jeopardy. It is possible that Emperor Yuan views the wall as an extension of himself,
and that losing the wall to an enemy meant losing his power. This shows that he had a personal
interest in defending the wall, giving further insight into why he had the man

What{s Catatonic Schizophrenia
Catatonic Schizophrenia is a specific type of schizophrenia, or brain malfunction, which is
distinguished by extreme, yet direct opposite behaviors. Its symptoms focus on movement and
motor skills. You might be more familiar with the catatonic stupor , where the individual is
incapable of movement, speech or response to external stimuli.
Oppositely, catatonic schizophrenia manifests as voluntary bizarre movements, repetitive
nonsensical words and/or sounds. Basically, an individual gets stuck either in a trance like state or
in a hyper excited state. Both types are serious, but treatable.
To receive a diagnosis of catatonic schizophrenia, an individual must first be diagnosed with
schizophrenia. Once all the symptoms are evaluated, it will become obvious whether or not they
qualify for the specific catatonic diagnosis.
What are Symptoms Specific to Catatonic Schizophrenia?
Malfunctioning Motor Skills Incapable of body movement. Mutism. Body clenched in a stiff
position. No awareness of environment.
Waxy Flexibility Person appears like a wax figure, remaining immobile, but body is flexible. For
example, if a limb is repositioned, the individual will hold it in that position and stare, barely
blinking until the limb falls back down from fatigue.
Excessive, Constant Mobility Frenzied pacing, spinning in circles, flailing of arms, constantly
moving but going nowhere.
Bizarre Movement curious mannerisms, grimacing, rocking, exhibiting weird or

Figurative Language In Alice In Wonderland
An author frequently exemplifies different messages and conflict within a story or novel. More
often or not, an author portrays certain types of literary devices to convey a message between
the setting and characters. In Lewis Carroll s novel, Alice in Wonderland, Alice s curiosity and
innocence as a child in the Victorian Era leads to her exploring another world called Wonderland.
She is challenged to find the true meaning of exploring outside of an ordinary world which leads
her to question her own identity. The depths of wonderland and many influences Alice stumbles
across changes the dynamics of her inner self from a child to an adult. The white rabbit resembles
her escape outside of reality into a new world that ultimately creates a... Show more content on

Carroll uses the food and drinks as a way of representing Alice s curious appetite for growing up
in her societal role. As she wanders around Wonderland, her curiosity often leads to her eating or
drinking an object in order to satisfy her curiosity. When she drinks the Drink Me substance she
says, Curiouser and curiouser! Cried Alice she was so much surprised, that for the moment she
quite forgot how to speak good English (Carroll 6). Many times throughout the novel, Alice
adventures revolve around food and drinks such as sweet baked snacks, potions and tea to appease
her curiosity. Alice begins to lose control of her eating and drinking habits of Wonderland which
demonstrates her maturity as she looks towards adulthood in the reality world. The more food and
drinks Alice applies to herself, Carroll establishes the metaphor of growing up results in
unpredictable events and changes that are irreversible. Alice stumbles across the Cheshire Cat who
portrays the opposite of growing up as he believes taking short cuts are better than asking for
advice. The Chesire cat exclaims to Alice, Then it doesn t matter which way you go (Carroll 49).
The metaphor from the Cheshire Cat resulted from Alice asking about visiting the Mad Hatter. In
this case, The Cheshire Cat is a representation of taking the easy route and not visiting the mad

Jesus Of Nazareth Blasphemy
Yesterday, in the city of Judea, a man, going by the name of Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, for
blasphemy. In his crimes, he claimed to be the son of God, and was apparently spreading false
tales and stories. He had amassed a large following of people, including the 12 he held most dear,
the disciples. In the week before his death, he had been observed to enter Jerusalem through the
East gate, as onlookers laid down palm leaves, to mark the coming of the Messiah . On the
second day, he was observed to have turned over tables in the temple, feeling evidently angry at
the fact there were gamblers inside the temple, he also very rudely refused to sacrifice an animal to

His mother could be heard wailing loudly at the scene. Jesus was very quickly buried, without a
proper funeral, this was partly due to the fact the next day was the Holy Sabbath, and no work
could be done on this day. It is here we turn our attention to the story of Jesus, how, without any
solid proof, was he able to amass such a following? Furthermore, why were the people of Judea
so ready to abandon their loyalty to King Herod, and fully support this Jesus character? Have the
Jews of Judea lost hope? Jesus told many stories, about lambs, and how he felt everyone was
special. Curiously, he also spoke to and offered his help to lepers and prostitutes. Perhaps this
man was very empathetic towards these people s struggles, and felt that they were not too
dissimilar to his own. This man was obviously one of great charisma, and his talents helped to
spread happiness throughout the city. Was it truly a good idea to crucify him. Eyewitnesses also

Aromatherapy Research Paper
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the volatile oils from plants for therapeutic wellbeing. Used
by many ancient cultures, with the first discovery dating back more than 6000 years ago in Iraq.
The name aromatherapy was created by the French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse (1881 1950)
whilst studying and working in his family perfumery business. Similar in nature to herbs, they have
complex chemical components that can stimulate the body to trigger a healing response. These
essential oils can be utilised in massage, inhalations, compresses, added to baths and used for toxic
free cleaning.
Chakra Balancing originating from ancient Indian traditions, the chakras are the basic energy
centres of the body. Derived from a Sanskrit word that means wheel . there are 7 main chakras
which are aligned vertically from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The chakras help
to circulate the vital life force energy throughout our bodies and each zone correlates with different
areas of the body. When any of these energy portals are blocked it will affect the smooth flow of
energy through the body and can present as emotional, spiritual or physical disease.

Throughout the fast paced lives of people, they are constantly making choices that shape who they
are, as well as the world around them; however, they do not often think about the consequences of
the little decisions they make every day, such as the result of eternal suffering. From those who
were neither good nor bad all the way to Satan himself, Dante takes the reader on his calculated and

Divine Comedy: a trilogy of poetry by Dante Alighieri.

Children Early Intervention Programs Essay
Nobody makes a conscious decision to be a bad parent. People often just lack the resources or
skills needed, they encounter other barriers, or make bad decisions along the way that result in the
inability to effectively parent a child, more often than not perpetuating their disadvantage for yet
another generation. Disadvantage allows poor social determinants to take hold. To break the cycle
that is a root cause of today s healthcare costs, we must find ways to finance programs that will
inoculate disadvantaged children against poor social determinants. While we can t mandate a

My Personal Statement On Science Of Human Body

My interest in science of human body started when I was a little girl, my bedtime story was all

favourite superhero even today.
After I grew up I decided to be someone who is useful to the society. Through the 6 years of
optometry, i decided to dedicate another 4 years to develop my acedemic knowledge.
Current career achievements:
I would like to start with a story I experienced in the optometry practice. One day a patient said

experienced ophthalmologists and also luckily having some hands ons on some patients with rare

motivates me to study more. It really puts patient at ease when you have a plan for their treatment
and which is what i lack as an optometrist. we often diagnose but can not treat most of he

junior doctors, registrars and consultants. It was a friendly environment with respects to each other.
I start to realise the hard work it involves on the road to become a doctor.
Out of all these work experiences and shadownings. They all have something in common they are
all patient centred. No matter what profession you are in, you will be dedicate youself to help

The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay
Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has
increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is
based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through
free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic
countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful
manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace
that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in
2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest
and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are
a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting
democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be
imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is
democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does
make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not.
Immanuel Kant in Perpetual Peace 1765 originally brought up the idea that democratic countries
would be more peaceful than one with a monarchical governing

Research Paper On John Grisham
The anatomy and physiology of the human body is extremely complex in many different aspects.
Scientifically, the human body is organized from simple to complex. The organization sequence
begins with diminutive cells and finishes with multiplex organ systems. All people are typically
organized in the same fashion. However, psychologically all people do not process information
the same way. People have a myriad of motives for the actions they take in life. For instance, a
person may be motivated or inspired by a situation he or she has been in, and they decide to act
upon his or her beliefs. John Grisham, a well known novelist, was inspired to become a writer by
past circumstances he has experienced, the knowledge he obtained by being a lawyer, through the
stimulating people he has met throughout his life thus far, and to prove that people can experience
a little adventure while reading. Axiomatically, to completely understand how an author writes his
or her books people need to know the author s background. John Ray Grisham, Jr., was born on
February 8th, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. John s father was a construction worker, and his family
moved to different states frequently (June Harris). After spending most of his childhood in
Arkansas and Louisiana, the Grisham family found a permanent home in Southaven, Mississippi.

Title IX Case Study
Introduction
Title IX, enacted in 1972, requires all entities receiving federal funds to provide equal opportunities
to both genders. A Title IX complaint was filed against Chico Unified, and the OCR made several
allegations of non compliance.
Title IX is broken into three areas (participation, financial assistance, and treatment of athletes). The
OCR did not allege non compliance pertaining financial assistance, as Chico does not offer athletic
scholarships. Conversely, The OCR made several allegations under the areas of participation and
treatment of athletes. Below the allegations are separated into the two categories, followed by the
OCR s reasoning, and concluding with strategies to become compliant.

To prove compliance by prong three, a school must conduct viable surveys of all female students. In
2005, the Bush administration determined that unanswered emails can be considered as a lack of
interest. However, the OCR values a survey with high participation rates, compared to low
(NIAAA, p.112 114, 2011).
Response Strategies/Best Practices
An adequate survey must be conducted. An adequate survey requires impartially worded questions,
and a high participation percentage.
Suggest finding a time to conduct the survey in person, as opposed to emailing a survey.
Suggest raising the number of roster spots on girls teams. For example, all girls basketball rosters
should have 15 athletes.
Efforts should be made to add one girl team sport. The sport should be determined based upon both
survey results and the practicality of adding the sport. Practicality should be determined by ability
to compete, ability to obtain resources and hire coaches, and the ability to maintain a program long
term.
Treatment of athletes
Allegations:
Disparity in the quality of facilities for boys and girls teams. The OCR found that the softball field
is below the quality of the baseball field.

Netherlands. Therefore, case studies from the UK will provide strong insight in providing
guidance on speed reduction principles of shared spaces. The principles discovered throughout
these case studies will assist in developing an assessment criteria that is reliable and effective.
New Road, Brighton, London
New Roads shared space design has had an impressive design impact. Traffic volumes have reduced
by 93%, and vehicle speeds remain below 20km/hr. The road has many physical features that
occupy the street such as benches, restaurant, and cafГ© and bar seating, vegetation and pedestrian
dominated, with a carriageway width of 3.0 metres.
New Road, Brighton use different types of surfaces within the space with many pedestrians citing
the different surfaces as the key factor as the reason for taking ownership of the whole street with
vehicles and cyclists feel the different surfaces make them feel as pedestrians have priority
therefore, they travel with more care.
Ashford Ring Road
Ashford Ring Road shared space design has improved safety significantly. Vehicle speeds remain
around 32km/hr. This road also has many physical features that occupy the street such as benches,
signage, vegetation and pedestrian dominated. The road uses physical features to visually narrow
the road to reduce vehicle speeds with one way traffic carriageways 3.0 metres wide

NFL 50 Green Initiatives
For the last five to ten years, the National Football League (NFL) have become a more
environmentally friendly organization. NFL 50 green initiatives included solar energy, use of
reclaimed water and wood and waste recycling. The Levi s Stadium in San Francisco, that hosted
the Super Bowl 50, is the NFL s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Gold certified stadium endorsing renewable energy. The stadium uses 85% reclaimed water and
reclaimed wood and 64% of all consumer waste and 87% of durable goods in the stadium are
recycled. While in the Super Bowl 49, at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the green initiatives
included distributing food to local food banks, recyclingsports equipment, supporting urban
forestry projects and the use of renewable energy. Similarly, the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, host for
the Super Bowl 45 is a green stadium. The stadium is aiming to reduce its solid waste by 25
percent, its energy by 20 percent and its water consumption by a million gallons annually. On the
other hand, the Philadelphia Eagles although not hosting a Super Bowl, the Eagles... Show more

For each person that turn off the faucet while brushing their teeth we could save 3,000 gallons
of water. Colgate marketers knew that millions of people watch the Super Bowl so I do not
believe the main intent was to address the waste of water, but for people watching the ad to buy
the product and as a result the Colgate toothpaste sales could rise. According to Hayley Cucinello,
Forbes contributor, each company had to pay CBS at least $5 million per 30 seconds of airtime,
which proves the logic behind using the water conservation theme to spark the interest of viewers in
Colgate toothpaste while watching the NFL 50. Regardless the hidden intent, this commercial was
good for the environmental world as it shared the necessity to reduce water

Variable Data Printingand 1:1 Marketing Campaigns
Today, variable printing can do far more than simply print unique address labels. Marketing
collateral can be fully customized for each individual contact. This includes customization for
salutations (names), body text, and even images. Combine these capabilities with customer
engagement analytics, and 1:1 direct mail marketing campaigns can be executed on a mass scale.
Here are a few of examples of 1:1 variable data printing campaigns in action:
A nonprofit is mailing previous donors for a holiday giving campaign. Postcards feature an image
of a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or winter coat drive based on which initiative the donor
supported in the past. Accompanying text highlights the number of dinners, beds, or coats which
could be provided for a $50 or $100 donation. By leveraging past donation behavior and appealing
to the causes that donors feel most passionate about, the campaign sees a 40% increase in holiday
giving.
A business consulting firm develops new features for their reporting software. To promote the new
capabilities, they send brochures to marketing directors working in finance, B2B, and B2C
services. Each brochure features a case study from a client in the target s field as well as industry
specific images and language. This targeted approach results in twice as many leads as a previous
campaign with no industry targeting.

This approach seeks to maintain a uniform provision of higher education to all its citizens.
However, this ideology relegates the merit factor and raises questions of feasibility in promoting
equality. Such a socialist approach may be prone to compromised standards of higher education in
its endeavor to satisfy all. The alternative economic model is a hybrid of socialism and capitalism
which derives from government intervention. This system is commonly known as a mixed
economy. In Kenya is such an example. The critical subject in such a model is how to keep balance
between the forces of capitalism and socialism. The role of government policy comes in handy in
ensuring that competition especially amongst the private sector in education is healthy and that
education provision meets required standards. Access to higher education must be equitable for all
citizens; based on the principle of merit regardless of gender, religion, ethnic or social economic
background. The limitations to this must not enshroud the government s responsibility of planning
for higher education. In a case study, the Israelite government developed a policy in that has since
1990 doubled the number of students in higher education. Some of the key elements the policy
encapsulates are; limiting the undergraduate enrolment at research universities while ensuring the
majority of undergraduate students study in academic colleges awarding a Bachelor s degree.

Relationship Between Entrepreneurship And The Economic...
BUSINESS RESEARCH METHODS
Introduction
This research seeks to establish the relationship between entrepreneurship and the economic
development in Saudi Arabia. Entrepreneurship is the process of managing, organizing and
developing a business venture in a competitive environment that is dynamic (Kuratko 2016 pp3).
An entrepreneur is an inventor, leader, innovator, and pioneer and most significantly, a performer.
The heart of a national advantage is often pegged on entrepreneurship. The operation of an
enterprise is within the entrepreneurship ecosystems that include governmental services and
programs that support startups and operational activities. Non governmental organizations (NGOs)
are also active in mentoring and advising entrepreneurs to ensure that their efforts and goals are
achievable. Naude (2010, p.108) articulate that the G20 summit held in 2008 highlighted the
importance of entrepreneurship in the world economic development.
Background and Management Problem Entrepreneurship activities support self employment which
in turn has an effect on the growth of productivity (Audretsch, 2007, p.64). A debate on whether
nations should adopt the self employment policy or strike a balance is always contented. Italy tried
the self employment model, and it proved to be inefficient for the development of the economy
(Santarelli and Vivarelli, 2007, p.460). Entrepreneurship also plays a role in the early development
of industries. It increases productivity through

F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
Gatsby s Great American Dream The American Dream in simple terms is the essence of
Americanism; it is the belief that social mobility, prosperity, and financial success are attainable
by hard work regardless of social class and nationality. The American Dream exemplifies what
every immigrant imagines as they walk through Ellis Island or cross the border from Mexico. It is
the ethos of America, the defining image of the average upper middle class family man. This idea
of prosperity begins as far back as the founders of the United States. Benjamin Franklin, one of the
most famous Framers in American history, built himself from the ground up. Franklin s The

James Gatz transformation to Jay Gatsby is the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy
would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end (Fitzgerald 98).
Benjamin Franklin created thirteen virtues that he personally followed that aided his quest for
perfection. Of these thirteen virtues, Gatsby perfected Cleanliness and Order to the fullest extent.
Gatsby s practice of elocution and ability to schedule his business is one example of these
specific virtues. Jay Gatsby often seems to be reminded of his past, but his goal is not to even
cover up his past. This goal of Gatsby s is the beginning of his downfall in the quest towards the
perfection of his own American Dream. The virtues that Gatsby fulfils in some circumstances and
does not fulfil in others include Silence, Temperance, and Sincerity. Franklin s idea of Sincerity is
that one should use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak
accordingly (Franklin). Gatsby achieves this virtue whenever he is in the company of Daisy
Buchanan, his love interest of many years. There is a certain irony to their relationship as Daisy
is extremely insincere or grateful for the life she has led. Even though Gatsby s entire adult life is a
lie, there is a sense of youthful love from a man who has outgrown his youthful pleasures. Daisy
Buchanan is related to another of these virtues, Silence. Gatsby understands

Thrasymachus Plato Justice Quotes
For years, philosophers have tried to define justice. In Plato s The Republic, Plato discusses the
equality of the sexes, abolition of family, rule by philosophers, life and while doing so, attempts to
describe what justice is. In Book I, the search for the answer to what is just is set up through
discussion done mostly by Socrates, Cephalus, Polemarchus and Thrasymachus. Thrasymachus
contributes to this conversation by establishing what he thinks justicemeans, especially in regards to
government and law. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the advantage of the stronger (Plato338c).
Through discussion with Socrates, who opposes this view, Thrasymachus offers his definition and
explanation of the argument. I believe that though Thrasymachus s... Show more content on

Socrates maps out how ruling aims to benefit the ruled and not the ruler, thus meaning that
Thrasymachus s argument that justice is in the advantage of the ruler is false. Socrates
demonstrates this point by explaining how he sees every craft to as having a particular aim. To
clarify, he gives the example of a doctor being a person who cares for the sick over a money
maker, and a pilot being a ruler of sailors over just a sailor (Plato 341d). In even further detail, the
art of medicine has been developed because the body is defective, and it is an art that s purpose
is to provide what is advantageous to the body. Socrates says, medicine doesn t consider the
advantage of medicine, but of the body (Plato 342c). It follows that if ruling is a craft, it would
aim to benefit those who are being ruled and not the ruler. Socrates goes as far as to say that
because the ruler rules for the ruled and not for himself, there is no ruler who considers his
advantage before those of the ruled and he will do everything for the advantage of the ruled (Plato
342f). Looking at this refutation that sees ruling as a craft, Thrasymachus s argument that justice is
in the advantage of who rules is clearly

Water In Horses
Clean water should always be available at all time. Horses will die within two to three days if
they do not have access to water. The amount of water needed by horses will greatly depend on the
weather, age and physical activity done by the horse. Proper nutrition is crucial for maximum horse
health. To ensure the wellbeing of horses, it is important to add pellets, salt and supplements to
their diet. Not only is proper nutritionnecessary to fight illness, but it helps to build muscle and
provide warmth.
Ideally, the feeding room should be located near to the stables. Air temperature should be kept
constant and should be waterproof. A scale as well as method or record keeping should also be
kept in the feeding storage. To reduce the risk of fire, the hay should be stored away from the main

Symbols In Lord Of The Flies
Many people seamlessly pass by objects not thinking much of them; in stories they re just as
easily overlooked but can hold great meanings and tell stories on their own. Symbolism in
stories is commonly shown through objects and is meant to represent something outside its
literal meaning. The book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of boys who
ve crashed onto an island and keep hold of objects that correlate to society or hold meaning such
as power, intelligence, and hope. The conch, the glasses, and fire ironically ended up being the
force, for the devastation that happened in the story. The conch embodies both power and a
form of Government. However the conch s powers were fake and only worked if people agreed
they did Jack didn t care about the conch, Piggy held up the conch... He shouted I tell you, I got
the conch! ... The booing rose... Now Jack was yelling too (Golding 180). Jack and his crew didn
t acknowledge conch government and order. They took away the conch s power by not viewing it
as a source of power. After this scene division begins to form and their government collapses....

Education System in England
The education system in England
[pic]
Pre school education
The pre school sector includes a patchwork quilt of places provided by state, voluntary and private
nurseries, childminders and playgroups available to children between the ages of two and five.
At the end of 2000 there were 937,000 pre school places available 264,000 in day nurseries,
353,000 in playgroups and other settings and 320,000 with childminders.
The government has promised to improve the quality of education available for this age group and
to increase the quantity of available places.
All four year olds are now promised a part time place of five morning or afternoon sessions per
week, and the government has set a target of providing a place for two thirds of ... Show more

But some parents have complained that reducing class sizes has worsened the problem of trying to
get places for their children in popular, over subscribed schools.
Test targets
The government has also set targets for levels of literary and numeracy, on the grounds that a child
who does not learn to read well and handle numbers early on runs the risk of falling further behind
in all subjects.
So, in England, by 2002: On average 80% of 11 year olds should be reaching the standard expected
for their age in English and 75% in maths.
In 2000, the equivalent figures were 75% (English) and 72% (maths).
There are also wide variations between local education authorities across England.
Since September 1998, all primary schools in England have been strongly recommended it is not
mandatory to devote at least an hour each day to literacy, with a similar daily numeracy session
from September 1999.
Secondary schools
In England, children must continue in full time education until they are 16 though now a majority
stay on after that.
The modernisation of the comprehensive system has been one of the key themes of the government
s campaign to raise standards in education.
In state sector secondary schools there has been increasing diversification, with the emergence of
beacon schools , specialist schools and the setting

Angela s Ashes By Frank Mccourt
When I look back at my childhood I wonder how I survived at all. It was, of course, a miserable
childhood: the happy childhood is hardly worth your while. Worse than the ordinary miserable
childhood is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood
(McCourt 11). These now famous words are some of the opening lines of Frank McCourts critically
acclaimed memoir Angela s Ashes. Through his memoirs, McCourt depicted his journey from a
poverty ridden emigrant to a widely recognized literally star. McCourt s life was that of a true
American success story that captured the hearts of many (GГЁbler). Frank McCourt lived a life
that many Irish emigres to the U.S. have dreamed of, but few have managed to achieve (GГЁbler).
While his life concluded with great fame and fortunes, McCourt s early life was not nearly as
luxurious.

Argumentative Essay On The American Nightmare
The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and
opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve
the dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around
us. We have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an
unrealistic American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is
that for many, it only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing
exponentially every year, and the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out
of reach. According to the CPS, More than half of America s working age families with children
under age eighteen (approximately 20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or
below and on the opposite end of this, less than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a
year. The benefits of being in a higher class based on economic and social status, labels the
American Dream as invalid, where only the wealthy elite can win. It would be favorable to say
that You go as far as your dreams take you , or, You get out of the system as much as you put in .
The ideology of meritocracy is the core of the American Dream; it s what makes America such an
admirable country. But reality check, this isn t the way America seems to be working. According
to PBS, the middle class average salary has dropped since 1970 (adjusted for

  • 3. Minimum Driving Age In California, there has been an ongoing issue and a big debate on whether the minimum age for driving a car needs to be eighteen. This argument has people agreeing and disagreeing with this matter. Unlike older and more experienced drivers, the young generation of drivers makes up most of the causes of life threatening accidents. Therefore, in order to decrease the number of life threatening accidents substantially the drivingage limit should be raised to eighteen. Earning a driver s license is most important for most young Americans, but teens are the ones with poor driving performance. According to traffic safety facts (22) in 2008: 5,864 15 20 year old drivers were involved in dangerous crashes. Teens are proven to have road rage. Teens, in fact, love to drive at night with other teens speeding through the streets. Statistics show that young people ages 15 20 can make up the total percent of the driving population. 14 percent are involved in dangerous crashes. This percentage of crashes needs to be reduced. The only possible way to upturn the level of maturity when it comes to driving a car would be the age of an eighteen year old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Modern Humans And The Existence Of The Planet Modern humans have been on Earth for more than 200,000 years. Although many people feel that 200,000 years is a fairly long time for us to have existed as a species, it is quite the opposite. The earth is estimated to have been made 4.54 billion years ago. Life as we know it is estimated to have begun 4 billion years ago. When comparing the existence of the humanrace to the existence of the planet we live on or the existence of all forms of life, it becomes very apparent that the humans species time on this planet has been relatively miniscule. If you took the entire history of the 13.7 billion year old universe and compressed it into one year, the first humans would not even show up until 10:30 pm on December 31st. Without having a good understanding of how short our stay on this planet has been, it s very hard for people to imagine a future where humans are no longer an existing species. With how short of a time span we have existed here, and how many species have come and gone in the history of earth, it is not too irrational to fear the possibility of human extinction. Clearly this isn t a threat that is anywhere near imminent, but that is no reason to give it any less thought. A huge flaw of the human race is that we often tend to be short sighted. We focus on problems that are affecting us now or will affect us in the near future, and this is the reason why getting people to do anything to prevent climate change or even just accept is so difficult. The possibility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. School Shootings Throughout the United States Recently there have been many school shootings throughout the United States and the world. Most of these shooting were all connected with the shooter being on anti depressant medications. In an article called Medicated to death: by SSRI s and mass killings by Lisa Arbercheski, she writes that SSRI s are linked to the cause of most shootings. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) is one of the most popular medications taken for depression in many countries. Some are known by their popular names like Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and Paxil. These medications have many tests done and none of them prove that they cure depression or mood swings. Could these medications be connected to some of the most recent shootings like the one in Newton, Connecticut? The case is that these medications are causing adolescents to go on suicidal rampage shootings and the United States is trying to play it off like the medications have no connection. Many of these young people committing these crimes are doing it because there is some type of rejection in their life. Doctors try to alleviate there symptoms by giving them higher doses of medication making it worse. In the article by Arbercheski she describes a shooting on December of 2000 when Micheal McDermott went on a shooting rampage at his workplace. It was determined during his trial that he had increased his antidepressantmedication, Prozac, from 70 milligrams to 210 milligrams per day. There was also two other recent cases where ... • 6. Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases chronologically, delving into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Benefits Of Farina Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for us. What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin word which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be the germ and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and then filtered. Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a hot cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly, which also makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is typically flavored with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and cinnamon, or sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... • 8. Example Of Holistic Care Holistic Care is seen as the way in which the patient is cared for as a whole by looking not just at their physical or medical needs but also at their spiritual, psychological and social needs while in the clinical setting (Johns C. 2012, Rushton L. 2014). One of the main outcomes for holistic care is patients receiving the best standard of care and also patient satisfaction in their care. This is due to the patient being cared for in a way that doesn t just look at their disease and uses person centered care instead of the traditional medical model of nursing (McGeorge N. 2010). In order to adequately care for the patients that we see in clinical settings we must look at them holistically and not care for them solely using the medical model of nursing. Holistic care is especially important for patients who are under going surgery, like this patient who was getting a short gamma nail placed in her femur, as it helps to promote healing post operatively by encouraging compliance with the care they need. It also helps to reduce the anxiety felt by the patient as they feel they are not being ignored by the staff looking after them (Selimen D. 2011). I am going to reflect upon this entry using The Reflective Cycle by Gibbs (1988), taking the description and feelings stages together as it is difficult to write about them separately as together they... • 9. Comparing Brutus And Cassius In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar , Brutus and Cassius are very important characters, sharing many similarities and differences. Brutus is a more dominant and noble character, honest and naive. Cassius is a more manipulative, perceptive character. They both take part in the more dramatic scenes and are essential to the play itself. They differ in the way they perceive Antony as a threat to the assassination plot, their dominance in personality, and their moral obligation. To begin with, an important similarity of Cassius and Brutus is that they re both two of the most noble and honorable people in Rome, and both end up in the going down similar paths throughout the story. They re both conspirators that assassinated Caesar and in the end they both fought the battle against Antony and Octavius, both Cassius and Brutus died the same way. However, despite them having had similar roles and plots they have very different personalities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Linguistic Factors Of Diglossia The contact between languages is one of the various fields investigated by socio linguistics. Commonly it is thought that monolingualism is the most usual linguistic behaviour but language studies disprove this belief showing that all speech communities and individuals hold a rich linguistic repertoire which may include two or more distinct languages, different varieties of the same languageand a wide range of registers, styles, social codes etc. The concept of linguistic repertoire is not to be intended as a mere sum of linguistic codes since it also concerns the way such codes interact with one another, their hierarchy and the rules running their use. In order to clear up the logic underlying the relations emerging from the steady contact among languages sociolinguistics introduced concepts such as diglossia code switching, bilingualism, dilalia etc. In the following essay the focus will essentially be on the difference between the concepts of diglossia and code switching alongside with the description of some examples supported by an attempt to identify the non linguistic factors which affect speakers linguistic choices. (Holmes 2001: 29) To be acquainted with the principles determining the choice of the appropriate variety in the right context is relevant in so far as it signals the speaker s belonging to and understanding of a linguistic culture . • 11. Oligopoly in the US Economy Oligopoly in the U.S. Economy Introduction Oligopoly is defined as a market structure in which there are a few major firms dominating the market in an industry. One of the defining factors is that each firm explicitly feeds off of the competitors moves and their potential responses in regard to setting prices, launching new products, etc. Under this model there is a level of implied cooperation. The firms understand that it is in their own best interests to maintain a stable price. If one of the firms subsequently lowers their prices, their competitors will do the same and knock out any advantage the original firm was hoping to gain with lower prices. However, if they raise their prices, the competitors may not do the same and can keep their prices fixed which will allow them to gain more market share. Another key factor in oligopolies is that there are significant barriers to entry in the industry. These barriers are constructed by factors such as high fixed costs, availability of resources, and brand loyalty. Smaller firms that wish to enter the market will not have the necessary resources to compete with these large firms. Also in the oligopoly structure, market shares generally change very little from year to year. Experiment 1: Synthesis of Isopentyl Acetate via Fischer Esterification Introduction: Isopentyl acetate, banana oil, is a naturally occurring compound that has a very distinct and recognizable odor. It is most commonly found in bananas but also can be found in other organisms. The purpose of this lab was to synthesize the ester isopentyl acetate via an acid catalyzed esterification (Fischer Esterification) of acetic acid with isopentyl alcohol. Emil Fischer and Arthur Speier were the pioneers of this reaction referred to as Fischer Esterification. The reaction is characterized by the combining of an alcohol and an acid (with an acid catalyst) to yield and ester plus water. In order to accomplish the reaction, the reactants were... The funnel was then unstopped and the lower aqueous phase was drained into a beaker. 5 ml of 5% aqueous NaHCO3 was added and then shaken gently. A great deal of caution was taken into consideration because of the production of carbon dioxide gas which caused pressure to develop inside the funnel. The pressure needed to be released so the funnel was vented frequently. The phases were allowed to separate and the lower aqueous phases was drained into the beaker. After draining, 5 ml of saturated NaCl was added to the funnel and then shaken gently. Once again, the phases were allowed to separate and the lower aqueous phase was drained into a beaker. An ester product was produced and was transferred into a 25 ml Erlenmeyer flask. This organic product was then dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 to trap small amounts of water in its crystal lattices thus removing it from the product. Finally the ester was decanted, so that the drying agent was excluded from the final product. Results and Discussion: Fischer esterification is the primary way of synthesizing this ester. The axons, projecting from the superficial second layer of entorhinal cortex to dentate gyrus and CA3, constitute for the perforant pathway and are strictly unidirectional and excitatory cite{2}. Whilst layer II neurons of entorhinal cortex innervate the neurons found in dentate gyrus and the CA3 neurons, neurons from layer III of entorhinal cortex send their axons to subiculum and CA1. This is another example of the high organizaton of the neuronal trajectory in hippocampal formationcite{2}cite{6}. There are two main pathways originating from the CA3 neurons, the first is the direct projection of these neurons towards the fimbria and the second is the subsequent collateral pathway created by the backward propagation of the diverged CA3 axonscite{1}. These axons, known as Schaffer collaterals, are the main excitatory input to the pyramidal cells located in the first region of hippocampus proper, an innervation mediated through the distal dendritic spines of the CA1 neurons in an en passant fashioncite{7}, where the synaptic transmission occurs along the axonal bodycite{8}cite{7}. People often just lack the resources or skills needed, they encounter other barriers, or make bad decisions along the way that result in the inability to effectively parent a child, more often than not perpetuating their disadvantage for yet another generation. Disadvantage allows poor social determinants to take hold. To break the cycle that is a root cause of today s healthcare costs, we must find ways to finance programs that will inoculate disadvantaged children against poor social determinants. While we can t mandate a certain degree of financial stability, competency, and commitment to fully engage in the art/science of child rearing before issuing a license to conceive, we... • 35. The Invasion Of Iraq By The United States Essay Over the previous two decades, the number of countries acquiring a democratic regime has increased dramatically. Democracy is a political regime allowing a system of government that is based on the belief of freedom and equal justice. Power is held by elected representatives through free and fair elections, resulting in a system that reflects the people s choices. Democratic countries rarely, if ever, wage war on each other and tend to resolve disputes in a more peaceful manner rather than declaring war on their opposition. However, they are not the utopias of peace that many people envision democracies to be. The invasion of Iraqby the United Statesof America in 2003 stands as a strong example where the impact of a forced regime change has resulted in unrest and violence. IGO s like the UN promote democracyin a less invasive and obstructive way and are a lot more successful. The invasion of Iraq clearly demonstrates the dangers of promoting democracy in an undemocratic international system. The spread of democracy cannot be imposed by force as it is discrediting the idea of freedom that the regime itself represents. Is democracy a reason for peace just as much as it is a justification for war? I believe democracy does make the world a more peaceful place, however, the forceful spread of democracy does not. Immanuel Kant in Perpetual Peace 1765 originally brought up the idea that democratic countries would be more peaceful than one with a monarchical governing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Book I, the search for the answer to what is just is set up through discussion done mostly by Socrates, Cephalus, Polemarchus and Thrasymachus. Thrasymachus contributes to this conversation by establishing what he thinks justicemeans, especially in regards to government and law. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the advantage of the stronger (Plato338c). Socrates maps out how ruling aims to benefit the ruled and not the ruler, thus meaning that Thrasymachus s argument that justice is in the advantage of the ruler is false. Socrates demonstrates this point by explaining how he sees every craft to as having a particular aim. To clarify, he gives the example of a doctor being a person who cares for the sick over a money maker, and a pilot being a ruler of sailors over just a sailor (Plato 341d). In even further detail, the art of medicine has been developed because the body is defective, and it is an art that s purpose is to provide what is advantageous to the body. Socrates says, medicine doesn t consider the advantage of medicine, but of the body (Plato 342c). It follows that if ruling is a craft, it would aim to benefit those who are being ruled and not the ruler. Socrates goes as far as to say that because the ruler rules for the ruled and not for himself, there is no ruler who considers his advantage before those of the ruled and he will do everything for the advantage of the ruled (Plato 342f). Test targets The government has also set targets for levels of literary and numeracy, on the grounds that a child who does not learn to read well and handle numbers early on runs the risk of falling further behind in all subjects. So, in England, by 2002: On average 80% of 11 year olds should be reaching the standard expected for their age in English and 75% in maths. In 2000, the equivalent figures were 75% (English) and 72% (maths). There are also wide variations between local education authorities across England. Since September 1998, all primary schools in England have been strongly recommended it is not mandatory to devote at least an hour each day to literacy, with a similar daily numeracy session from September 1999. Secondary schools In England, children must continue in full time education until they are 16 though now a majority stay on after that. • 54. Angela s Ashes By Frank Mccourt When I look back at my childhood I wonder how I survived at all. It was, of course, a miserable childhood: the happy childhood is hardly worth your while. Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood (McCourt 11). These now famous words are some of the opening lines of Frank McCourts critically acclaimed memoir Angela s Ashes. Through his memoirs, McCourt depicted his journey from a poverty ridden emigrant to a widely recognized literally star. McCourt s life was that of a true American success story that captured the hearts of many (GГЁbler). Frank McCourt lived a life that many Irish emigres to the U.S. have dreamed of, but few have managed to achieve (GГЁbler). While his life concluded with great fame and fortunes, McCourt s early life was not nearly as luxurious. Claiming to have been conceived up against a wall in Brooklyn, New York, Frank McCourt was... McCourt always told his writing students that they were their own best material (Grimes). However, it took him until after his retirement in 1994, and with the help of his third wife Ellen Frey, to take his own advice and do just that by beginning to write a novel based on his own Irish childhood ( Frank ... • 55. Argumentative Essay On The American Nightmare The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve the dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around us. We have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an unrealistic American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is that for many, it only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing exponentially every year, and the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out of reach. According to the CPS, More than half of America s working age families with children under age eighteen (approximately 20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or below and on the opposite end of this, less than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a year. The benefits of being in a higher class based on economic and social status, labels the American Dream as invalid, where only the wealthy elite can win. It would be favorable to say that You go as far as your dreams take you , or, You get out of the system as much as you put in . The ideology of meritocracy is the core of the American Dream; it s what makes America such an admirable country. But reality check, this isn t the way America seems to be working. According to PBS, the middle class average salary has dropped since 1970 (adjusted for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
