Ancient China Dbq Essay
The world s longest man made structure started out as the world s biggest cemetery. In 221 BC
Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordered for the construction of a great wall to protect, impress, and glorify
Ancient China (history.com). His labour force was mostly made up of soldiers, peasants, convicts, and
volunteers and it is estimated that 400,000 died during the construction (background essay). While the
Great Wall costed Ancient China lots, it gave them protected from their biggest threats, protected
merchants trading on the Silk Road, and opened China up to the rest of the world. The Great Wall of
Ancient China was worth the sacrifice of the early Chinese.
A clear benefit of the Great Wall was protection from the Xiongnu. The Xiongnu was a nomadic ...

While traveling on the Silk Road, merchants not only did business but exchanged ideas which shaped
China as we know it today. Two key examples would be Buddhism and Irrigation Systems (Doc. D).
Buddhism originated in India and was brought to China along the Silk Road. Buddhism is a path of
practice and spiritual development leading to Insight into the true nature of reality. Buddhist practices
like meditation are means of changing yourself in order to develop the qualities of awareness,
kindness, and wisdom (thebuddhistcentre.com). The three qualities of Buddhism; awareness, kindness,
and wisdom made China a happier, more pleasant place to live as it quickly spread around Ancient
China. The Persian invention of the Irrigation System allowed farmers to provide enough food and
decreased the chances of famines gigantically. Not only did the Silk Road bring new goods to China
but the Chinese inventions began appearing all over. During the Tang Dynasty (618 907) printing
techniques were introduced in Ancient China. In the thirteenth century many Europeans picked up
those techniques, via the Silk Road, and those same printing techniques made a debut in Europe
(travelchinaguide.com). Without the Great Wall protecting the Silk Road many key resources may not
have appeared in China and China would not be as we know it

these and other similar projects indicated that Holstein crosses irrespective of any indigenous breed

Drones Artifact
Agricultural drones 2a.Agricultural drones are unmanned aerial vehicles that are used for soil and field
analysis. They can produce accurate 3D maps that can conduct soil analysis on numerous soil
properties. The goal of precision agriculture or drones is to more efficiently apply a farm s limited
resources to gain maximum yield (Nixon). They can also irrigate crops and analyze crops, deciding
which are healthy and which are not more effectively than farmers. My artifact conveys the function
of these drones by having depictions of them doing some of their jobs and it compares them to
traditional farming, showing higher efficiency. 2b.I used Adobe Photoshop to create my artifact. First,

Drones can collect data in a lot of different ways. They can use 3D mapping to analyze soil. They can
use this data to decide seed planting patterns, irrigation, and to monitor nitrogen levels. They can also
have hyperspectral, multispectral, or thermal sensors to identify which crops are more dry or needs
improvements. This data allows for the drone to decide which areas need more attention. By scanning
a crop using both visible and near infrared light, drone carried devices can identify which plants
reflect different amounts of green light and NIR light. This information can produce multispectral
images that track changes in plants and indicate their health. A speedy response can save an entire
orchard. Distance measuring equipment ultrasonic echoing and lasers such as those used in the light
detection and ranging, or LiDAR, method enables a drone to adjust altitude as the topography and
geography vary, and thus avoid collisions. All this data is used through various cameras and imaging
to make the drones effective at keeping crops healthy. With such a large amount of data usage and
storage comes a large amount of data security concerns. The FBI and USDA believe that cyber
attackers might target the farming industry by stealing farm level data in bulk (information about soil
content, past crop yields, planting recommendations, etc.) or destroying it in protest. They have also
warned the attacker may encrypt collected data and hold it for ransom (Zorz). If these do

Stereotypes In Social Psychology Paper
Aside from arising from mental shortcuts, it has also been proposed that stereotypes are a result of
group conflict (Sherif, 1966). Regularly, individuals behave in a way that is expected of them in order
to uphold the impressions others have of them. Thus, individuals act accordingly and embody the
stereotype which is projected upon them (Baumeister Bushman). The degree to which we rely on
stereotypes when establishing judgements of others has been widely investigated in the field of social
psychology. Frequently, the harmful consequences of relying on stereotypes is noted with the potential
of this tendency to lead to prejudice and discrimination. Furthermore, the variation in the significance
of stereotypes has been explored to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these processes are potentially subject to bias due to the assimilative effects of existing
knowledge on information processing (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). It is essential to
comprehend these concepts before delving into the importance of stereotypes when forming
impressions of others. In the initial stage of developing schemas, they allow the individual to ignore
what is perceived to be unimportant or unnecessary details of a situation, thus reducing the complexity
of the information (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). Indeed, schemas guide behaviour and allow a
platform for individuals to make mental shortcuts and damaging stereotypes, they can also simplify
life and are useful in every day situations (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). For example, if one had
an existing stereotype that guns are dangerous and hastily decided to move to the other side of the
street after noticing a man with a gun this would be an extremely useful and possibly life saving use of
a stereotype. However, whether stereotypes are considered to be beneficial or unconstructive they are
undeniably important when forming impressions of other

Literary Analysis Of Frank Sinatra s Gum
Kelly Simon, the writer of Frank Sinatra s Gum, presents the audience with a coming of age narrative.
Kelly Simon demonstrates her use of imagery, characterization, and point of view to elongate and
present the allegory in the narrative. She utilizes these rhetorical strategies to contribute to the
inclusive meaning and endorses the audience to see her growth in her identity and self image while
also recognizing the characterization of Frank Sinatra.
Kelly Simon applies a variety of devices and applies parallelism to convey her purpose for writing
within the narrative. In the opening of the narrative, she parallels her dad and Frank Sinatra. She
describes them as, I liked that he was Sicilian as many of my father s friends and clients were (Simon
1). Simon s description of her father and his actions parallel Frank Sinatra in certain ways. Sinatra
portrays all of the same qualities as her father, which is one of the people that influences her viewpoint
of Frank. Her father lump[s] [her] with the rest of those drooling, moronic, autograph hunting sheep
(Simon 1). Simon describes her context of Frank and the attribution of her father s perspective on her
prospect of Sinatra. Simon becomes very descriptive when talking about her father which allows the
audience to put themselves in her place. Therefore, it enables the audience to become engrossed in the
narrative from her use of pathos throughout the narrative. Her diction gives the story more meaning
and causes the

The Importance Of Stereotypes In Society
Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist, once said All violence is the illustration of a pathetic
stereotype (All). Stereotypes are at the basis of every dispute, argument, or violence we as people are
quick to judge other people even if we have never got to know the person we re criticizing. If
stereotypes continue we will become a world with separated groups of people that are at war with each
other. Stereotypes can be defined as image or label that can be held on a group of people based on
their appearances, and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotype). For example, in an
interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that That was scarring. I felt like after a
while, as I grew older and my consciousness evolved, I chose to not perm my hair anymore (Staff).
This evidence supports the idea that we may change our appearances like Jamila Lyiscott, for people
judge us based on things like our hair. Jamila Lyiscott felt like she was placed in a certain group based
on her appearance and this is what stereotypes are. Clearly, stereotypes affect our world greatly just
like it affected Jamila Lyiscott and how she presented herself to society. The topic of stereotypes is
also explored through literature. For example, in the poem, Labels, this poem is saying that we don t
need to judge if we have never met the person we are labeling. Labels is really talking about how
stereotypes aren t right. The poet writes that You can t know me by just a look,

Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Introduction
Eating disorder in adolescents is a source of grave alarm. An effective definition of eating disorders, as
they are evident in school surroundings, describes victim of eating disorder as being extensively
anxious and conscious about food, weight, and body shape. This results in being engaged in strange
eating behaviors (Gowers Bryant Waugh, 2004). This paper seeks to investigate the effects of eating
disorders on adolescent s life and education and comprehensive school based model of interventions is
suggested for the prevention and treatment of this disorder.
The Effect of an Eating Disorder
Two of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and they have a
prospective to effect on the person experiencing this disorder on lasting physical health, social,
emotional, and cognitive development. These disorders can sometimes prove to be a great threat to
life. Many adolescents are forced to postpone their schooling even as they search for treatment.
Therefore this amplifies the likely harmful effects of their situation on their social and cognitive
development. It is very much possible that with the passage of time the condition of eating disorder
will aggravate and it will become more obvious and will ultimately affect their moods and physical
health (Hoek Hoeken, 2003). The imbalanced and inadequate diet affects the adolescent s brains and
cognitive function

Suggestions to Santa Fe Relocation Services Company

4.1 Suggestions to Santa Fe Relocation Services Company
Santa Fe Relocation Services is a great learning company for interns. Santa Fe Relocation Services is
an establish company and helps interns improve and develops their skills. I would recommend Santa
Fe Relocation Services to keep hiring interns with different educational background, to help build and
improve the company with the knowledge they gained from their studies. I also hope that Santa Fe
Relocation Services will not put a limited opportunity to intern trainee for learn different area in the
organization. In my opinion, Santa Fe Relocation Services can give an intern trainee to learn every
task that we can use it after the internship program. Afterward, I also hope that next coming internship
trainee will receive more appropriate training that can enhance the ability of fresh graduate which is
lake of experiences or knowledge. At this point, the duration of internship program was six month and
this is similar to the probationary period for any new worker in company. In these levels, as intern
trainee we kind of have the similarities like permanent worker but only we just not get the certificate
of our studies. Finally, everything that I had learned from Santa Fe Relocation Services was great
enough and I m glad to get the placement in Santa Fe Relocation Services because of a few reason
such as, the people of Santa Fe Relocation Services totally kind, did not underestimate any worker and

Student Spaceflight Experiments
The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) is a program in which groups of three to five
students work together to figure out an experiment that they would like tested in space. The winning
group s experiment will be tested in space to see if their experiment will actually work and to benefit
future astronauts. I was fortunate enough to participate in this program, which has taught me many
lessons and has given me information that will be extremely valuable in my future years as a student.
It has taught me what the ISS is and why testing experiments in space is important. In addition, the
project taught me how to work better in groups, and it helped me become a more responsible person. I
think the SSEP project was an extremely worthwhile experience, and I m very thankful I was able to

I learned that the ISS stands for the International Space Station and that it is a large spacecraft in orbit
around Earth. It is also a home for astronauts to live in while in space, and it also serves as a science
laboratory. Furthermore, the SSEP project has also taught me that sending new experiments up to the
ISS is important. This is because scientists and astronauts are always looking for different alternative
methods to perform tasks in space. For example, astronauts might want different varieties of foods to
eat in space, so they could send a new seed up to space to see if it grows. If the seed grows, astronauts
will then have new foods to eat while in space that could possibly have great health benefits like

Hello. A shadow casted itself over the tattered menu in Addison s hand as she shifts her gaze to the
figure standing over her. An overwhelming sensation embodies her as she meets the spellbinding
green eyes that stare back. The bottle green eyes that dance with gold flecks were once her grounding
point yet now look so alien. Her gaze drifts along his features, taking in each of them as though he
was a painting she was seeing for the first time. A painting that had been so carefully crafted yet
seemed so effortless with his slightly crooked nose and flawlessly tousled hair. A small smirk
playfully tugs at the corner of his lips as he slides into the battered booth seat across from her. It s
been a while, he huskily remarks. A cloud of steam escaped the machine and encompassed Addison s
face, fogging up her glasses and dampening her skin as she finished brewing the order. Her feet

Gothic Elements In The Raven
There are three aspects within these emotional stanzas of The Raven that make it Gothic. Each one in
fact prompting the next. Firstly, death, death is the gothic backbone to this poem because without it
the other gothic elements would have nothing to originate from. Throughout the entirety of the poem
death is what haunts the narrator. The death of his beloved Lenore, how fiercely he did adore, the price
of her death his mind could not afford, hence he was reminded by the Raven that she was Nevermore .
Respite Respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff oh quaff this kind nepenthe and
forget this lost Lenore! Quoth the Raven Nevermore . , in this quote the narrator clearly states the
presence of death which is a definitive gothic element. As he converses with the Raven there are
certain ideas that become evidently true, firstly that the death in this poem makes it gothic. Also as the
Raven likes to remind us ever so frequently, not only is Eleanor nevermore but the sanity of the
narrator is aswell, is nevermore. The death of his beloved Eleanor drove him to madness.
Insanity being the next Gothic element present within the poem, is what caused him to go into such
paranoia , sorrow and distraught. He became unable to sit in the dark without imagining sounds that
are not there or perceiving the Raven as as animal who has the ability to speak and taunt him in doing
so. It s said that the definition of sanity is the act of repetition with expectations of

Aspects Of Ancient And Modern Israel Religion
Aspects of Ancient and Modern Israel Religion
The ancient religion Judaism has developed over time through the different aspects of things such as
the Hebrew Bible, the ten commandments, religious practices and daily life which has developed the
aspects of modern Judaism. The Judaism religion originates from the country of Israel, located in the
content of Asia near its neighboring countries Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. From ancient
Judaism to modern Judaism, the religion is one of the few that has stuck to its roots and beliefs based
on the Hebrew Bible, especially the Torah. Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the

The Patriarchs were the forefathers of the Jews, first was Abraham, followed by his son Isaac, his
grandson Jacob, and Jacob s 12 sons from whom the 12 tribes of Israel originate (Wilkinson 76). The
story of Abraham is that he came from Mesopotamia at some point within the 2nd millennium BCE
because God had made a covenant, or agreement with him that he would be faithful to the people of
Israel, who must serve him and obey his laws. Abraham settled in the land later known as Israel and
during his time he wondered how God s promise could be fulfilled. Abraham was a man of great faith
and obedience to the will of God, so when Abrahams son Isaac was born God asked Abraham to
sacrifice his one and only son, in the moment when Abraham was going to kill his son, God
interrupted and told him to kill a ram instead. Later the Jews spent years in exile as slaves in Egypt,
Moses their prophet, was the one who led the Israelites out of Egypt. The ten commandments are what
God gave to Moses including the Torah. The writings decrypted on the tablets included the laws by
which all Jews must live. The ten commandments include things such as You shall have no other gods

A Linguistic Term For Indo European And Indian History
ARYANS
Aryan is a linguistic term for Indo European (Robert Westad 2014a). The Aryans brought to India no
culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans appear writing
disappeared and does not come back until the middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities were
reinvented by the Aryans, which lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of Harappans
(Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought with them a
culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had two
contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions (Robert Westad 2014a).
One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought to India was the unique social structure;
in their system every class had a duty to their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there were only three
main classes or Varnas, but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they controlled (Breyer 2004).
As religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only fitting that the priests and scholars
were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the
Brahmans were the ruling class or the Kshatriyas; this also included nobles and warriors (Breyer
2004). The third class was made up of the commoners they were called the Vaisyas. It was the fourth
class that the servants and peasants made up, called Sudras. It was later on where another

The Term Illness By Elizabeth Gaskell
The term illness draws up several definitions in the Oxford English Dictionary. The meaning most
immediate to our present understanding would be a bad/unhealthy condition of the body and mind .
Another among the others now obsolete presents it as a bad moral quality, condition, or character.
Illness was often used as a measure of morality, with the perception that bad morals predisposed to
illness and could be contagious like a disease. Elizabeth Gaskell explored these issues of morality the
loss and redemption of in her English social novel, Ruth. Challenging the typical fallen woman
narrative, her sympathetic portrayal of the eponymous heroine caused a huge divide in opinion,
disrupting and questioning the traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The typical fallen woman narrative was weighed down by suffering, warranted as an inevitable
consequence of tainting of moral character. Dismissed as outcasts, a downward spiral would ensue
ultimately to suicide. Reform was available via female penitentiaries, quarantined as if contagious in
institutions away from society. Throughout Ruth, Gaskell suggests that more benefit would be derived
from rehabilitation within the community itself.
Since Victorian society operated under strict religious principles, causes of disease were often given
metaphysical explanations linked to immorality. The emergence of anti contagionist theory occurred
during the British cholera epidemic of 1831 to 1832. With this, Swenson claims a direct causal link
was affirmed: the filth of immorality not only generated fever, but immoral persons were predisposed
to it. Gaskell appears to conform to this convention; fever is a recurring theme to which characters are
subjected whenever moral ills are committed. However, beneath the surface, she also pushes against
this idea. The first question she confronts the reader with is whether the heroine is a truly immoral
figure. In contextualising Ruth fallen woman narrative, Gaskell explores Ruth s background for the
reader to gain a greater understanding of how she came to be seduced. Ruth is presented as innocent
and snow pure , childish and awkward . Orphaned at fifteen, she began an apprenticeship as a
seamstress under

Proper Discipline
Discipline PVT La Plante Discipline means control gained by enforcing obedience or order. It also
means orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior. Discipline is important in all situations by
everyone young old. Discipline can vary from keeping yourself from eating the last piece of pizza or
killing someone. Without discipline, the world would be more chaotic than what it is now. Jim Rohn
said once Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Discipline is applied to each
activity in our lives. I however have shown a extreme lack of discipline by falling asleep in class, in

Since 1776, the Army has trained soldiers to win wars protect the land to help society develop evolve

Jack and Simon in Chapter Three of the Lord of the Flies
In the Lord of the Flies, William Golding makes many contrasts between his symbolic characters. For
example in chapter three, Huts on the beach , many contrasts and similarities are made between the
two characters Jack and Simon. These descriptions give an idea to their personality and feelings.
The description of Simon in the jungle, and Jack in the woods highlights many of their differences.
Jack is alone and descriptions like, with flared nostrils , and ape like suggest he is behaving like an
animal. Jack s appearance is also starting to resemble animals, as his hair has grown, longer , and his
skin darker with, a mess of dark freckles . Simon s appearance is ... Show more content on

This clearly shows an unusual ability Simon has, and resembles a Jesus figure, the descriptions, in
contrast to the wood
Jack is in, seem surreal, and tranquil. Jack in the wood is set with,
a sharpened stick about five feet long , reflecting a threatening, tense atmosphere.
Simon is with the littuns and he is shown to be generous and caring, as he, found for them the fruit
they could not reach, pulled of the choicest . This is an example of the effort Simon took to be caring
for others. This is also shown by Simon s willingness to help with the building of the huts, when all
the others ran away, leaving the responsibility to Ralph. This shows he is considerate to others. Jack,
however is extremely unwilling to help with the huts, and is annoyed when Ralph gives Simon
gratitude for helping, as when Simon is not by the huts Jack tries to make up excuses like, got fed up ,
and, he s buzzed off , trying to make Simon in the wrong. Jack is obsessed about catching a pig and
seems to want to catch one for the enjoyment, rather than the food it would give. Jacks obsession is
shown after
Ralph has been expressing how upset he is that no one helps with the hut, when he bluntly comments,
we need meat and when Ralph mentions rescue, Jack says, I d like to catch a pig first and is not
prepared to keep the fire going for rescue purposes. These are examples of how desperate Jack wants
to catch the pig, and how he

Hyperbole
In Judy Brady s I Want A Wife essay, love is satirized as more of an arrangement rather than genuine
affection. Love is seen as selfish, rude, and limiting. Brady uses hyperbole to exaggerate the position
of what a stereotypical male ego (in the 1970s) thinks a wife should be and the unfairness of a wife s
role. Selfish diction is used to emphasize the husband s chauvinistic ideas of what a wife should be
like: I want a wife who will not bother me with rambling complaints about a wife s duties. But I want
a wife who will listen to me when I feel the need to explain... Brady s purpose is to help women
realize the inequalities in gender roles and encourage them to push for more equal standards. Brady

Love is described as patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast...it does not dishonor
others, it is not self seeking. In I Want A Wife, love is seen as the opposite of how it is presented in 1
Corinthians 13. The original intended audience for 1 Corinthians 13 were the Corinthians. The author
uses paralipsis to show the Corinthians that their conduct had, in many respects, been a contrast to the
behavior of love shown in 1 Corinthians 13. Nowadays, 1 Corinthians 13 is well known among
Christians and non Christians. Love is patient, love is kind can be seen in many song lyrics and
wedding vows. It is also taught in church to encourage Christians to live with a loving heart. 1
Corinthians 13 is one of the most well known bible verses nowadays because of rhetorical devices that
make it memorable. For example, anaphora is applied in the second and third paragraphs of the
chapter: Love is patient, love is kind..love does not delight in evil...love never fails. Love is talked
about in a positive connotation in 1 Corinthians 13; whereas in I Want A Wife, love is seen as

The Rising Action Of The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The plot of a literary work is defined as the main events (storyline) of, in this case, a play, or novel,
movie, etc., devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence. The plot generally
consists of an exposition, a main conflict, rising action, climactic event, falling action, and a
resolution. By this point in the play, Act III is beginning already in the rising action of the play. Miller
makes reading the concluding acts a rollercoaster ride by developing the plot uniquely and
particularly, making the reader eager for more. To begin with, the act opens in the vestry room of the
Salem meeting house, now serving as the anteroom of the General Court (180). There is already a bit
of tension and conflict between the characters.

Heart rate monitors provide immediate feedback on how hard you are working out so that you can

monitoring their heart rate during activity, enabling them to maintain fat burning and aerobic target

Therefore specific sections of the bodywork, such as the front wing, must be sufficiently rigid to pass
the FIA s ever more stringent deflection tests. The driver must be able to enter and get out of the
cockpit without it being necessary to open a door or remove any part of the car other than the steering
wheel. From his normal seating position, with all seat belts fastened and whilst wearing his usual
driving equipment, the driver must be able to remove the steering wheel and get out of the car within
five seconds and then replace the steering wheel within a further five seconds.
Example: formula 1 cock pits allow the driver to get a comfy seat position and allows the team who he
drives for to the sort out the aero dynamic features on the car. Cockpits are very important in formula
1 because it allows the driver to tell his team if there s an issue with anything or if anything needs
changing such as the front wing to create aerodynamic. If there is anything wrong then the team will
be able to make improvements for the driver.

Marginalization Of Mental Health Essay
Service users have reported to construe a sense of labelling and marginalisation by health care
professionals, suggesting inequality in the level of care received once the illness becomes apparent to
the professional. This inequality is further apparent as many professionals use the Mental Capacity Act
1983 to section people with Schizophrenia. For example: (Chaplin (2000 see Coppock Dunn, 2009)
argued that psychiatric practice and mental health services maintain the stigma of mental distress this
is well documented in western culture. (Fernando, 2010) noted the visible presence of medical, social
work and police services in compulsory Mental Health Act assessments and the over diagnosis of
medications prescribed by psychiatrists; all having a negative impact on services users. McKenzie,
2001) have argued that within the mental health services psychiatric have reinforce their power to
diagnose and assessed these groups due to perception from the media. As a result of this medical

Siddhartha Character Analysis
In Siddhartha by Herman Hess, Siddhartha views himself as determined, optimistic, and wise.
Siddhartha sees himself as determined due to his on going search for enlightenment. Siddhartha s
father watches his son, Again from hour to hour, silent, peered into the room, saw the unmoved
stander, filled his heart with anger, filled his heart with apprehension, filled his heart with fear, filled it
with sorrow (Hess 10). Siddhartha s father comes to the realization that his son will stand outside with
no food until he can join the Samanas. Siddhartha is so determined to try to find peace that he would
rather grow weak and hungry than not go with the Samanas. Along with determination, Siddhartha
sees himself as optimistic. When bad things happen, Siddhartha chooses to see the good and make the
best out of it. Siddhartha says to Kamaswami, Certainly, I traveled for my pleasure. For what else? I
became acquainted with people and places, I enjoyed trust and friendliness, I found friendship. Now,
dear friend, if I were Kamaswami, then the instant I saw that my purchase was thwarted, I would have
angrily hastened back, and time and money would indeed have been lost (Hess 61). Siddhartha chose
to make a positive experience from his failed trip instead of a negative one. Another way that
Siddhartha sees him is wise. Wisdom plays an important part in his journey to find peace and
happiness. Siddhartha explains to Govinda, I am telling you what I have found. Knowledge can be

The Israeli-Palestinian Wall
The Israeli Palestinian wall that has been under construction for nearly twelve years is adding more
fuel to a fire that appears to only be growing. The wall has been doing more harm to the Israeli
Palestinian conflict than good. Ironically, the wall was created to help the conflict during the time of
the Second Intifada that occurred from 2000 to 2006. The intention of the wall at the time was to put
...an end to the phenomenon of cross border Palestinian suicide bombers , and also had a ...wide

The Palestinian economy, due to the route of the wall, has suffered tremendously. The displacement of
Palestinian civilians has been a major contributor to this issue. New rules and regulations require
citizens who live in the territory between the green line must apply for a series of permits that would
allow them to live, drive, and work in the zone in which they are entrapped (Roy 34). Therefore, as
Theirry Delbreuve said, ...agricultural communities were losing contact with the land on which they
depended both for their present livelihood and for their future survival (United Nations Page 2).
Palestine s economy has suffered tremendously, because Israel has made it possible through the
construction of the wall to have full control over Palestinian s resources, such as land, water, and
labor. This in turn has created Palestinian economic dependence on and with Israel (Current History
Page 32). As stated in Current History, the World Bank estimates that it will take some 20 years for the
Palestinian economy to return to where it was on the eve of the current Intifada, as their economy has
contracted by half (Page 32). Palestine s ...access to work, food, housing, and other needed resources

Imagine yourself getting ready to rescue a climber stuck on top of a mountain. There you are in the

thousands of feet to your death. You just risked your life to save someone who was not ready. People
putting their lives at stake for someone who was not ready is not acceptable.
The cost to rescue someone is unbelievable. According to Nick Heil The B3 cost about $2 million
apiece and quite expensive to operate (Van, line 54 56) This means that for every rescue they carry out
means more money they need to pay the bill but they also need to make a profit. Also, Robert Siegel
stated, Is a part of the issue here that these rescue choppers give climbers a false or at least, a rather
expensive sense of security, and that makes them more willing to take risks. That statement talks about
how climbers feel safe because they know they are going to get rescued, but they also know that flying

Narrative Essay On The Garbage City
Rise! Rise against those who oppress us. Rise and fight! These bodiless words reverberate through my
ears and carries on over the miles and miles that forms the junkyard. Out of instinct, everyone ignores
it, keeping their head down, as they sort through scrap metal and broken machinery. Seconds later, the
yelling starts from the control tower, followed by a short scream and lots of gunfire. A few individuals

It was expected. Random killings always follow these unruly messages. If it defies the Angelic Order,

Cruel and unnecessary but it s the way of life.
I knew from experience the gunshots and screaming would follow. I was there in town square of
Garbage City when this same message played for the first time. It created quite a panic, for the
demons. For humans, it was as if someone flipped a switch in their brains and they went crazy,
rebelling.
At least ten demons died that day.
However once the carriers showed, blowing people up, most people got smart and stopped. I managed
to hide through this whole ordeal and by evening, I was cleaning up bloody bodies off the streets.
Over a hundred humans died that night, couple hundred injured. It was a complete mess.
And that was only the beginning of these strange messages. Every time it played, a few people would

HBCUs are important to the black community and how it is a beneficial experience for all races. It

The Pros And Cons Of Memory Problems
When people think of memory problems, their first thought is probably forgetting. However, that is
just a small portion of memory problems as a whole. For example, in a study done at Boston
University, students were shown a set of pictures of situations such as a careless student leaning back
in his chair, a man taking an orange from the bottom of the pile, and a grocery bag ripping and spilling
groceries. 68% of the students involved in the experiment claimed they remembered seeing the so
called cause picture of the bag ripping. The problem was that there was no cause photo for the spilled
groceries. When the students saw the effect and not the cause, they made an assumption. This proved
that inferences can cause us to think we remember something that never actually happened. Therefore,
memories can actually be illusions. Recent memory research has focused on why we have memory
problems such as remembering the first letter of a word but not the whole word. A ... Show more

Suggestibility is when people mix up personal memory with second hand information. According to
Schacter, leading questions and encouraging feedback can result in altered memories of events that
never took place. In fact, suggestibility can even lead to false eyewitness testimonies. For example, a
psychologist named Gary Wells from Iowa University showed a group of volunteers a video of a man
entering a store, and then told them that the man killed a security guard. When he and his colleagues
showed the volunteers some photos and asked them to identify the man, who was not in any of the
photos, he told some of them that they identified the correct man. The students who were encouraged
later stated that the encouragement caused them to be more confident in their recall of the man. The
positive feedback not only made them more confident in their memory of the man, but also caused
them to forget any uncertainty they originally had about their identification of the

Implementing Physical Security As An Access Control Plan
Implementing physical security as an access control plan takes a great effort of planning. Physical
security is the protection and controlled access of personnel, the environment they operate in, which
includes the hardware and what it contains, as well as the rooms and buildings they are located in.
Physical security has three indispensable parts: access to control, observation, and testing. Obstacles
should be set for potential aggressors and physical areas should be bolstered against anything causing
delays, attacks or natural disasters. Such measures can include proper fencing, locks, control access
cards, biometrics that control systems and fire proofing structures. Physical areas should be checked
using observation cameras and for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A clear and concise plan is needed, which will help lessen potential threats. The foundation of
biometric sensors, for instance, iris inspecting or one of a kind finger impression affirmation, can
make even the most formidable intruder think twice about gaining unauthorized access. Now and
again, all that is relied upon to decide the issue is an instrument to give enough time to contact the
authorities. In any case, access control should consist of physical security as well as information
security (Ricardo, 2015).
Consideration should be given to shutting off access to portable workstations, desktops, and servers.
There is great risk for a potential insider threat, such as personnel leaving the workplace undetected
with a portable device tucked under a clothing item. Such circumstances happen extremely often and
more organizations are being compromised. One conceivable situation to fix security is to utilize the
terminal server and a bootable Linux conveyance. Likewise avoided are DHCP (Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol), anticipating issues with spyware, malware, or infections (Ricardo, 2015).
Security Controls Physical security manages and protects assets as regulatory, specialized, what s
more, physical controls. Control frameworks, interruption discovery frameworks, and evaluating
frameworks are cases of specialized controls. A few examples of regulatory controls are site area,
office configuration,

Bipolar Disorder And Manic Depression
Bipolar Disorder, formally known as Manic Depression, is a mental disorder where an individual
suffers from abnormal mood swings, experiencing both highs and lows (Hockenbury others, 2015, pg.
585). Severe depression with bouts of irrational happiness, and ecstasy are all symptoms an individual
with bipolar disorder may experience (Hockenbury others, 2015, pg 585). DSM 5, 2013 states, a small
percentage of Bipolar disorder experience only manic episodes . When someone is in mania they feel
like they are on top of the world, they are extremely happy and sure of themselves but often are
making irrational decisions. This mood can last for long periods of time, during this time they will not
sleep much and yet still be able to function. Although these individuals to think they are happy during
their manic states they are not, these manic episodes are extreme and can be debilitating to not only
the individual but their family as well. Post mania state, these individuals will then fall into a severely
depressive state where they have long periods of feeling hopeless and feeling worthless. Sometimes a
person with bipolar disorder can have some speech difficulties where they slur or speak too fast,
Hockenbury others, 2015 state it s the person trying to keep up with the racing thoughts in their heads.
These thoughts are often categorized as a flight of ideas, where the person jumps from topic to topic.

The Theory Of Classical Liberalism
Classical Liberalism is an idea of Liberals limiting the power of the state and maximizing the rights of
the individual against arbitrary rule as stated in the Classical Liberalism powerpoint.
Some classical liberals included Jean Jacques Rousseau, John Locke, Adam Smith, and Baron de
Montesquieu. These men fought for free markets inside and between countries as well as a limitation
on the all powerful state. The argument for a powerful government was that it would maintain peace
and security. Their tenets, or philosophies, consist of 8 basic principles. The first principle of classical
liberalism is individual liberty. Individual liberty relates to limiting or restrain all institutions that
endanger our liberties such as government and church. These social institutions enforce rules and
restrictions that act as negative freedom as stated in the powerpoint. The second principle relates to
human nature. It states that man is born ignorant but not wicked Stating basically that man is
influenced negatively by his surrounds such as government which stated by Thomas Paine is a
necessary evil . By combining the third and fourth principle you have reason and progress. By using
reasoning to solve problems instead of demanding obedience you are more likely to achieve progress.
Progress is defined as expansion of knowledge, improvement of conditions, and the overall
advancement of mankind. Principles five and six are equality and universalism which are also related.

In 221 BC Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordered for the construction of a great wall to protect, impress, and glorify Ancient China (history.com). They can produce accurate 3D maps that can conduct soil analysis on numerous soil properties. The goal of precision agriculture or drones is to more efficiently apply a farm s limited resources to gain maximum yield (Nixon). They can also irrigate crops and analyze crops, deciding which are healthy and which are not more effectively than farmers. They can use 3D mapping to analyze soil. They can use this data to decide seed planting patterns, irrigation, and to monitor nitrogen levels. They can also have hyperspectral, multispectral, or thermal sensors to identify which crops are more dry or needs improvements. This data allows for the drone to decide which areas need more attention. By scanning a crop using both visible and near infrared light, drone carried devices can identify which plants reflect different amounts of green light and NIR light. This information can produce multispectral images that track changes in plants and indicate their health. A speedy response can save an entire orchard. Distance measuring equipment ultrasonic echoing and lasers such as those used in the light detection and ranging, or LiDAR, method enables a drone to adjust altitude as the topography and geography vary, and thus avoid collisions. All this data is used through various cameras and imaging to make the drones effective at keeping crops healthy. With such a large amount of data usage and storage comes a large amount of data security concerns. The FBI and USDA believe that cyber attackers might target the farming industry by stealing farm level data in bulk (information about soil content, past crop yields, planting recommendations, etc.) or destroying it in protest. They have also warned the attacker may encrypt collected data and hold it for ransom (Zorz). If these do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Stereotypes In Social Psychology Paper Aside from arising from mental shortcuts, it has also been proposed that stereotypes are a result of group conflict (Sherif, 1966). Regularly, individuals behave in a way that is expected of them in order to uphold the impressions others have of them. Thus, individuals act accordingly and embody the stereotype which is projected upon them (Baumeister Bushman). The degree to which we rely on stereotypes when establishing judgements of others has been widely investigated in the field of social psychology. Frequently, the harmful consequences of relying on stereotypes is noted with the potential of this tendency to lead to prejudice and discrimination. Furthermore, the variation in the significance of stereotypes has been explored to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, these processes are potentially subject to bias due to the assimilative effects of existing knowledge on information processing (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). It is essential to comprehend these concepts before delving into the importance of stereotypes when forming impressions of others. In the initial stage of developing schemas, they allow the individual to ignore what is perceived to be unimportant or unnecessary details of a situation, thus reducing the complexity of the information (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). Indeed, schemas guide behaviour and allow a platform for individuals to make mental shortcuts and damaging stereotypes, they can also simplify life and are useful in every day situations (Macrae, Stangor Hewstone, 1996). For example, if one had an existing stereotype that guns are dangerous and hastily decided to move to the other side of the street after noticing a man with a gun this would be an extremely useful and possibly life saving use of a stereotype. • 7. Literary Analysis Of Frank Sinatra s Gum Kelly Simon, the writer of Frank Sinatra s Gum, presents the audience with a coming of age narrative. Kelly Simon demonstrates her use of imagery, characterization, and point of view to elongate and present the allegory in the narrative. She utilizes these rhetorical strategies to contribute to the inclusive meaning and endorses the audience to see her growth in her identity and self image while also recognizing the characterization of Frank Sinatra. Kelly Simon applies a variety of devices and applies parallelism to convey her purpose for writing within the narrative. In the opening of the narrative, she parallels her dad and Frank Sinatra. She describes them as, I liked that he was Sicilian as many of my father s friends and clients were (Simon 1). Simon s description of her father and his actions parallel Frank Sinatra in certain ways. Sinatra portrays all of the same qualities as her father, which is one of the people that influences her viewpoint of Frank. Her father lump[s] [her] with the rest of those drooling, moronic, autograph hunting sheep (Simon 1). Simon describes her context of Frank and the attribution of her father s perspective on her prospect of Sinatra. Simon becomes very descriptive when talking about her father which allows the audience to put themselves in her place. Therefore, it enables the audience to become engrossed in the narrative from her use of pathos throughout the narrative. Her diction gives the story more meaning and causes the ... • 8. The Importance Of Stereotypes In Society Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist, once said All violence is the illustration of a pathetic stereotype (All). Stereotypes are at the basis of every dispute, argument, or violence we as people are quick to judge other people even if we have never got to know the person we re criticizing. If stereotypes continue we will become a world with separated groups of people that are at war with each other. Stereotypes can be defined as image or label that can be held on a group of people based on their appearances, and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotype). For example, in an interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that That was scarring. I felt like after a while, as I grew older and my consciousness evolved, I chose to not perm my hair anymore (Staff). This evidence supports the idea that we may change our appearances like Jamila Lyiscott, for people judge us based on things like our hair. Jamila Lyiscott felt like she was placed in a certain group based on her appearance and this is what stereotypes are. Clearly, stereotypes affect our world greatly just like it affected Jamila Lyiscott and how she presented herself to society. The topic of stereotypes is also explored through literature. For example, in the poem, Labels, this poem is saying that we don t need to judge if we have never met the person we are labeling. Labels is really talking about how stereotypes aren t right. This results in being engaged in strange eating behaviors (Gowers Bryant Waugh, 2004). This paper seeks to investigate the effects of eating disorders on adolescent s life and education and comprehensive school based model of interventions is suggested for the prevention and treatment of this disorder. The Effect of an Eating Disorder Two of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and they have a prospective to effect on the person experiencing this disorder on lasting physical health, social, emotional, and cognitive development. These disorders can sometimes prove to be a great threat to life. Many adolescents are forced to postpone their schooling even as they search for treatment. Therefore this amplifies the likely harmful effects of their situation on their social and cognitive development. It is very much possible that with the passage of time the condition of eating disorder will aggravate and it will become more obvious and will ultimately affect their moods and physical health (Hoek Hoeken, 2003). • 14. Gothic Elements In The Raven There are three aspects within these emotional stanzas of The Raven that make it Gothic. Each one in fact prompting the next. Firstly, death, death is the gothic backbone to this poem because without it the other gothic elements would have nothing to originate from. Throughout the entirety of the poem death is what haunts the narrator. The death of his beloved Lenore, how fiercely he did adore, the price of her death his mind could not afford, hence he was reminded by the Raven that she was Nevermore . Respite Respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! Quoth the Raven Nevermore . , in this quote the narrator clearly states the presence of death which is a definitive gothic element. As he converses with the Raven there are certain ideas that become evidently true, firstly that the death in this poem makes it gothic. Also as the Raven likes to remind us ever so frequently, not only is Eleanor nevermore but the sanity of the narrator is aswell, is nevermore. The death of his beloved Eleanor drove him to madness. Insanity being the next Gothic element present within the poem, is what caused him to go into such paranoia , sorrow and distraught. • 17. A Linguistic Term For Indo European And Indian History ARYANS Aryan is a linguistic term for Indo European (Robert Westad 2014a). The Aryans brought to India no culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans appear writing disappeared and does not come back until the middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities were reinvented by the Aryans, which lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought with them a culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had two contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions (Robert Westad 2014a). One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought to India was the unique social structure; in their system every class had a duty to their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there were only three main classes or Varnas, but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they controlled (Breyer 2004). As religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only fitting that the priests and scholars were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the Brahmans were the ruling class or the Kshatriyas; this also included nobles and warriors (Breyer 2004). The third class was made up of the commoners they were called the Vaisyas. Throughout Ruth, Gaskell suggests that more benefit would be derived from rehabilitation within the community itself. Since Victorian society operated under strict religious principles, causes of disease were often given metaphysical explanations linked to immorality. The emergence of anti contagionist theory occurred during the British cholera epidemic of 1831 to 1832. With this, Swenson claims a direct causal link was affirmed: the filth of immorality not only generated fever, but immoral persons were predisposed to it. Gaskell appears to conform to this convention; fever is a recurring theme to which characters are subjected whenever moral ills are committed. However, beneath the surface, she also pushes against this idea. The first question she confronts the reader with is whether the heroine is a truly immoral figure. In contextualising Ruth fallen woman narrative, Gaskell explores Ruth s background for the reader to gain a greater understanding of how she came to be seduced. Ruth is presented as innocent and snow pure , childish and awkward . Orphaned at fifteen, she began an apprenticeship as a seamstress under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jack, however is extremely unwilling to help with the huts, and is annoyed when Ralph gives Simon gratitude for helping, as when Simon is not by the huts Jack tries to make up excuses like, got fed up , and, he s buzzed off , trying to make Simon in the wrong.
