Choosing The Right Of Passage For Teenagers
My fellow city council I agree that you should pass this curfew making it were it is illegal for
teenagers to be out past ten on weekdays and midnight on the weekends. For one teenagers do not
need to be out past these times anyways because if they are most likely nothing could will come
out of it. Nextel it the right of passage for a teenager to have a curfewfor generations parents have
given their kids a curfew it is just teenagers never hardly lesson to them. Giving teenagers a curfew
keeps them safe and would give the parents the ease of mind knowing about their kid.
In almost every scenario a teenager is giving a curfew by a parent but barely does the teenager

Medieval Modernism And The Scientific Revolution
People began to question old, medieval traditional authorities and views and began to invent
machines to help assist voyages and the producing of books containing the spread new concepts
and research found by scientists. The world before the time when scientific reasoning had largely
influenced Europe was filled with the minds of people whose thoughts stuck and mainly believed in
the old judgements and ideas formed by old philosophers forming the medieval traditional view.
That view was spread all throughout Europe and the church supported these beliefs too further
accomplishing the influence the old view had on the people before the Scientific Revolution.
However, when people tried accomplishing new tasks such as exploring and wanted to know more
about the physical world and began questioning old statements, innovations to thinking and
technology were made also unlocking the possibility of the Scientific Revolution and the spread of
scientific learning to occur. These innovations made in thinking included the Neoplatonism and the
Hermetic Doctrine and innovations in technology included machines helping to creating books a
quicker, faster way and invent instruments to help sailors navigate the globe for their explorations.
One innovation made that helped make the spread of the Scientific learning and the Scientific
Revolution possible was a concept known as Neoplatonism. This was a change made in thinking
that differed with the old, medieval traditional views. Neoplatonism stressed the belief that one
should search beyond appearances for true knowledge. According to him, truth about nature and
God could be found making abstract judgments and reasonings but could best be described using
the skills of mathematics. The old traditional view which included Aristotle s concepts stated that
the Earth was the center of the universe. The concept of Neoplatonism undermined this way of
thinking by stating that one should search more to find the truth especially using mathematics to
explain and defend that claim. The idea of Neoplatonism interested and influenced many scientists
who also began to question old Aristotle theories due to them being inspired by this message of
Greek philosophy. Neoplatonism had assisted in

Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance
The benefits of big data analytics on business performance
Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both
structured (is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and
unstructured data (is information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined
model) that is so large it is difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques.
In most companies, the volume of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current
processing capacity. Despite these problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve
operations and make faster, more intelligent decisions.
Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their
finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e.
Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s
operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data
which come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and
correlated. However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason,
the company implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business
Object). For example, Financial Statements must be displayed on the CEO dashboards instantly all
the time. To be able to achieve his requirement, Business

aerogenes ABSTRACT The objective of this report was to identify an unknown microorganism
through several differential media tests. Over the course of a couple weeks, ten tests were
performed. First, a gram stain was performed, indicating the bacterium was gram negative. An
aerotolerance test determined that the bacterium was a facultative anaerobe. Next, a negative result
in the methyl red test indicated that no mixed acid fermentation occurred. The DNase test was
performed and yielded a positive result. The SIM test provided two outcomes, that the bacterium
did not reduce sulfur nor produce indole from tryptophan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After incubation, approximately 6 8 drops of methyl red were added Possible observations: If
mixed acid fermentation occurs, the broth will turn red. If mixed acid fermentation does not
occur, the broth will not change its color. DNase Test 1.The bacterium was inoculated with a
flamed loop onto agar containing peptides for soybeans, casein, NaCl and DNA 2.The plate was
incubated at 37C for 24 hours Possible observations: If there is a clearing in the agar around the
growth, then DNase is present. If there is not a clearing in the agar, DNase is not present. SIM
Test: Tests for sulfur reduction, indole production from tryptophan, and motility 1.The SIM
slant was stabbed with a flamed needle inoculated with the bacterium 2.The slant was incubated
at 37C for 24 hours 3.After incubation, Kovacs reagent was added. The Kovacs reagent will
react with any indole present Possible observations: If sulfur was reduced, there will be black in
the medium. If sulfur was not reduced, there will not be black in the medium. If tryptophan is
broken down into indole and pyruvate, there will be red in the alcohol layer of Kovacs reagent. If
tryptophan does not break down, then the reagent color will be unchanged. If there is growth
radiating from the stab line, there is motility. If there is no radiating growth, there is no motility.

Pathology Of The Autonomic Nervous System
Introduction
In this report, the symptoms of this patient will be diagnosed, and the causes of them discussed
with reference to the physiology and pharmacology of the autonomic nervous system.
The Autonomic Nervous System
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of the motor division of the peripheral nervous
system (PNS) that controls involuntary processes in the body (Wieczorek, 2014). Such functions
include control of heart rate, gland activity, smooth muscle contraction and constriction of blood
vessels (Biology online.org, 2014). The ANS is divided into two branches, the sympathetic nervous
system (SN) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PN). The SN is responsible for the fight or
flight response, which results in increased preparedness for vigorous activity in response to
exercise or emergency. The PN acts antagonistically to the SN, in that it produces the opposite
effects to those of the SN. Under normal circumstances, the PN is dominant, and allows processes
such as digestion and defecation to occur, while also conserving energy (Elmhurst.edu, 2014). Most
of the visceral organs of the body are innervated by both sympathetic and parasympathetic neurones,
with the exceptions being sweat glands and the smooth muscle of blood vessels they are only
innervated by sympathetic nerve fibres (Wieczorek, 2014).
In the ANS, a number of different neurotransmitters and receptors are present. In both the PN and
SN, the neurotransmitter at the ganglia is

Bitcoin Is Becoming Too Stronger
Due to the rapid development of a cryptocurrency environment, the value of Bitcoin is becoming
even stronger. Unlike other digital currency, Bitcoin is constantly showing its positive dynamics in
terms of price and public acceptance. It becomes obvious after recent exchange rate increase, which
is 1113.5$ now according to CEX.io.
However, the ever widening popularity of Bitcoin has resulted in more frequent hacking attempts
towards cryptocurrency related service providers. Cryptocurrency exchanges are no stranger to
various hacker attacks aimed at activity disruption and virtual money theft. Being a major bitcoin
pool, they are always subject to cybersecurity risk and threat.

CryptoCurrency Security Standard can make a real breakthrough in the world of digital money if
approved by the public.
While this one for all security approach is under consideration, bitcoin exchanges are working their
way forward. They are getting to grips with the hackers by all appropriate means.
Caution is the parent of safety
Following the lead of the most trusted and reliable platforms, one may define essential security
aspects, which are obligatory for implementation.
Multi factor authentication
Most Bitcoin exchanges employ this strategy to add another level of security to their systems and
thus set additional barriers for intruders. To access the wallet a user needs to go through several
phases of the verification process to be approved by the system. Authentication credentials include
information about something a user knows, possesses and is identified by. Generally, the user
identity is validated after providing a proof in the form of a secret token or one time code together
with his username and a password.
Multisignature
To make Bitcoin transactions safe and hard to intercept, it is essential to apply multi signature
approach. This technology requires the participation of several users while transferring bitcoins
from one account to another. The transaction is finalized only when all involved users confirm it

The Poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden
The poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden s contrasts the idea of whether or not love will outlast
time. Initially, the poem portrays a lover affirming the belief that love will triumph over time. The
poem transitions and depicts the clocks argument that due to time, love will eventually fade away.
The narrator contrasts the two arguments with usage of imagery, personification, tone and diction.
The argument that lovewill prevail over time is contrasted by the belief that as time goes by, time
can never be stopped and love will not last. Overall, neither belief is represented as correct
because the narrator contrasts the two opposing arguments by displaying that two arguments are
incompatible. In regards to their following arguments, time is not as malicious or arduous to love
but love is not impervious to time. Beginning early in the poem and used heavily throughout,
imagery and personification are utilized to exemplify the lovers argument. The belief that love is
never ending is created through never ending connotations, I ll love you, dear, I ll love you Till
China and Africa meet, and the river jumps over the mountain and the salmon sing in the street.
The lover uses images of the impossible such as fish singing, the laws of physics breaking, and
distant continents meeting. This strengthens the original belief that love is eternal and superior to
time itself. These tasks are nearly impossible and the idea of love one day ending is equated with
them.

RSPCA Techniques
In this essay, I ll be analysing a plethora of techniques used in an RSPCA letter: emotive language,
anecdotes, repetition, direct address, imperatives and statistics. The purpose of this text is to
persuade us to donate ВЈ3 a month and each technique assists that. Firstly, the text uses emotive
language to make the reader feel sorrowful and sympathetic towards the animals: cold and
trembling . The reader will be influenced by these words as they create a picture in their mind of
how dreadful the situation is. There can be numerous effects when it comes to this technique a
reason why the text heavily utilises it. For example, horrible neglected can cause feelings of
melancholy to frustration. It highlights the cruel behaviour of bullies .... Show more content on

However, I believe the combination of emotive language and anecdotes is what will influence the
reader the most because they have the widest range of effects: guilt, fury, regret or misery. The
anecdote then provides a real example of what the RSPCA does and the reader will appreciate the
insight. These outcomes are achieved by making every story even more tragic with the use of
emotive language: heartless , terrified and callousness . Additionally, these words will tap into the
reader s state and make them associate those bad feelings with not

America s High Tech Sweatshops

Final Paper
How America s High Tech Sweatshops could lead to Brain Drain in the tech industry
Economic globalization has created an international skilled labor race, where developed countries,
compete for best and brightest human capital to advance their economies. By utilizing selective
immigration policies, these economically advanced countries target highly educated, and skilled
labor in foreign countries to meet their changing economic needs. The United States is no different
and has utilized special guest worker programs to strengthen its workforce. These guest worker
programs have sparked a host of controversial debates, especially during the 2016 presidential
election.

been hiring a large number of cheaper skilled labor from India. These skilled laborers are often
exposed to horrific working conditions or high tech sweatshops [footnoteRef:3] There have been
many proposed legislations to revamp the program in order to better protect American
workers.[footnoteRef:4] It is undeniable that domestically, the protections of American workers
need to be prioritized, but a hidden dimension to the debate is the potential for a massive exodus of
foreign workers since; the current U.S. climate and legislation, mainly through the current president
s executive orders, have been laced with anti immigrant sentiment. [3: Moira Herbst and Steve

Games for Young Learners
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Many researches stated that learning a language is better started from early age because in this
stage the children will be easier to acquire the language, sooner they start learning, more proficient
they will be in using the language. Therefore, presently, English is introduced starting from
kindergarten and becomes one lesson subject that must be taken in elementary school based on
government s rule in Indonesia. In this level, the children are usually called by young learners.
Young learners are those who just start the formal school until they are in eleven or twelve years old.
Teaching English for young learner is not easy task as it is seen because children are interested in

Besides that, language aspects, such as grammar, vocabulary and etc, could be involved in the
games. It is based on the teacher s imagination, creativity, and sensitivity to make the games become
useful tool for learning.
2. The Advantages of Games for Teaching Young Learners
There are some advantages of using games as classroom activity, they are:
a. Games could decrease anxiety of learning a new language and it will make the language transfer
going smoothly. The children would not feel that they are under pressure. They learn the language
in a good and relax atmosphere. In a good, relaxed atmosphere which is created, children would
remember things faster, easier and better.
b. Games are highly motivating and entertaining. In order words, games bring more fun into the
classroom and could give motivation to students since games contain a challenge.
c. Games give them new experience of using foreign language that would not available during
regular language learning classroom.
d. Games involve all learners to participate. It means that silent students are also invited to
participate and give their contribution in playing the game sp all students have the same opportunity
to practice and use the language.
e. Furthermore, games give different atmosphere to the classroom activities, break the ice and also

At the staff employee level there are two ways to evaluate performance. Productivity is established
within the departments and is analyzed routinely. Quality assurance (QA) is a method that is used
to monitor the quality of work being processed. Productivity and QA are done in each department
and the methods used are contingent upon the department s processes. As a manger or team lead
their performance is evaluated on the departments goals. Each department will determine and be
provided with goals for the upcoming year. These goals evaluate the performance of the
department s key tasks. For example, we have a goal of posting all cash and wires that comes in for
the current month before accountings end of the month (which is the 4th day of the following
month). At the director level there may be several departments or just one under their
responsibility. The director is evaluated on his or her ability to achieve their department goals and
meet their executive officers formal expectations. The executive team is evaluated by HCA
division. We have goals that encompass the entire Tampa Bay Shared Service Center. For example,
one goal is a specific amount of cash collected for the year. This is measured monthly and discussed

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Essay
The Gift of a Rose A Rose for Emily is one of the best known short story by William Faulkner
(Mays 633). It is a short story filled with mystery, suspense, and tragedy. In this short story
Faulkner uses symbolism to show logical tragedy, insanity, loneliness, and pride. Faulkner
accomplishes this by letting symbolism help characterize the complex main character: Miss
Emily Grierson. Symbolism is the act of using a person, place, thing, or event that figuratively
represents or stands for something else (Baldick 633). When trying to explain anything to a
reader you can do it directly but by using a symbol to achieve this it adds more meaning to what
you are saying. The reason most authors use this literary device is to make the meaning of
something more powerful and observable to the reader. When determining the meaning of symbols
in literature there is never a wrong or right answer. Therefore the use of symbolism means having
the story interpreted in a different perspective from reader to reader. This results in having the story
passed on from generation to generation. William Faulknerwas born in Mississippi in 1897
(Biography.com Editors). He is consider one of the greatest novelist and in 1949 he was awarded
the Nobel Prize for literature... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason this short story is one of my favorites is because of Faulkner s use of symbolism. For
me it makes the story much more suspenseful and mysterious. I think Miss Emily Grierson is a
very complex character and since she never spoke much while she was alive, after her death her
life is like puzzle pieces that all the townspeople want to put together. The first time I discovered
this story was for an English class in high school, since then I have studied the story a couple of
more times and each time I discover more or question the symbolism. With that being said there
can be so much more to what I believe the symbols are or mean right

Contrary to prevailing conception of dynamism; the field of power distribution is slow to evolve

in the 1800 s an explosion of knowledge erupted from employing the scientific method of

principles. In 1873 Belgian engineer Zenobe Gramme, who developed the DC generator,

Outliers The Story Of Success By Malcolm Gladwell
One can say that being successful is based on your actions and how you prepare for the future. In
Outliers: The Story of Success , written by Malcom Gladwell, he stated that many factors come
into play regarding the success of an individual. In regards to Mike Honda, He was a
congressman from, California and spent his early years in a Japanese internment camp. Whether if
the person was talented or not, Gladwell made intelligent observations when thinking about
successfulness. I completely agree with Gladwell on most of the points that he made and I believe
that if most of the guidelines such as the 10,000 hour rule, advantageous era of birth etc... are
followed, then one will have the opportunity to be successful. But not all of what Gladwell stated
like the Matthew Effect (Wright P, 2003), are needed to become successful.
Throughout the book, Gladwell talks about how culture family and ones upbringing can determine

Dormant Commerce Clause Essay
Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is?
The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine
established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing
legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce
clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause
in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007).
Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business?
The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the
state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not
acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). An example would
be, in the case of C A Carbone, Inc. v. Town of Clarkstown, where the Court overturned an
apparently alleged town law that required all solid waste be treated at a privately ... Show more

However, this embargo in contrast to out of state discrimination does not prevent a state from
exercising its police power to protect state citizens, as long as the power is exercised evenly and
equally. For example, if a state wanted to weigh commercial vehicles on its highways to ensure
they did not exceed maximum weight, that feat would be permissible if the trucks came from out
of state, as long as the requirement applied equally to all trucks on that state s highways ( The

Liam Carlos Williams Accomplishments
Williams Carlos Williams once said, If they give you lined paper, write the other way. The
meaning of his quote to many, is not to follow in everyone else s footsteps, but make a different

In Williams s life, he faced many tragedies not only in his career but in his poetryas well. Williams
overcome these difficulties and they made him even more remarkable and influential to this day
for his life, career, and his poems. William Carlos Williamsstarted off being influential by just

The speaker the many of Spring and All is a man from an older generation. This can be verified
in lines 5 6 and 12 13, where it states, muddy fields/ brown with dried weeds/ dead, brown leaves
/ leafless vines . Many see this poem s speaker as an older man because he uses a small
vocabulary when describing the dead, brown leaves in line 12. In line 1 2 it implies By the road
to the contagious hospital/ under the surge of the blue . So in line two when it states under the
surge of the blue in many people s eyes it looks like the poem is meant for an older generation
because of the vast vocabulary the speaker uses. In the same poem Spring and All the attitude
toward the subject of the poem that the speaker conveys is rough as they explain how the
outside looks cold and uncertain before spring enters the new world. Evidence of this is in lines
16 19 where it says They enter the new world naked,/ cold, uncertain of all/ save that they enter.
All about them/ the cold familiar wind . Many people would also say that the author wrote this
poem to explain what spring looks like when approaching and how it looks like a disaster before
spring blooms into the new world. In lines 24 27 it shows how the birth of spring looks like a
disaster by stating But now the stark dignity of/ entrance still, the profound/ has come upon them:

The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia Essay
The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia
In the prologue of Agamemnon, the first play of Aeschylus trilogy, The
Oresteia, the watchman implores the gods for a blessed end to all our
pain. (20). He is asking for deliverance from the retributive system of
justice, where the only certainty is that bloodshed breeds more bloodshed.
The old men of the chorus in their opening chant, Hymn to Zeus, declare
that suffering must be experienced before man can be released from this
ceaseless irredeemable bloodshed and thus be, free from all the pain. (1)
They declare that it is a law laid down by Zeus that we must suffer,

mother/ bursting with unborn young the babies spilling, / quick spurts of
blood [and] cut off the race just dashing into life! (107) He is a bloody
lion that lapped its fill, gorging on the blood of kings. (812 13) Not
only did his need for vengeance cause bloodshed in Troy, it also resulted
in his sacrifice of his daughter. The chorus describes how Agamemnon
performed this act in order to appease Artemis for [she] must have blood.

the older warlord saying, Obey, obey, or a heavy doom will crush me! / Oh

Pain both ways and what is worse?/ Desert the fleets, fail the alliance?/
No, but stop the winds with a virgin s blood,/ feed their lust, their

The Effect Of The Mouse And Gui On Society And Business
The Affect of the Mouse and GUI on Society and Business
How the Mouse and GUI Enabled Other Technologies
The rapid proliferation of computers has made both our social and business world more and more
convenient. Although the first modern significant kind of computer was introduced the world in
the 1940s, the major event which has changed the history of human computer interaction was the
advent of the graphical user interface at Xerox PARC in the 1970s. Along with a pointing device,
typically a mouse, users are able to point to parts of the display. With the GUI which makes the
interface to the computer primarily a visual medium, the virtual world inside the computer is
portrayed graphically on the display. According to Shneiderman s the future of interactive systems
and the emergence of direct manipulation [1] in 1982, he describes the GUI paradigm as direct
manipulation , which is a breakthrough.
At the same time, under the influences of GUI and mouse development, multiple technology
devices are showing up for the world to use and changing the way of doing things in both social
and business life. For example, ATM systems are available for 24/7 banking, self check out
systems are in many supermarkets and self check in systems are at airports in addition to online
purchasing and home delivery available both major and niche retailers. Based on GUI, these
systems have had a tremendous influence on modern business bringing convenience and efficiency

The Importance Of Music Education
Music education is a very important and basic part of general education, but now in China s high
school, teachers and students are not aware of the importance of music education. For instance, In
China, students only have one music lesson a week and music lessons may be canceled at any
time if other teachers want to use the music lesson for their own subject. What s more, students
didn t take music lessons seriously, they always do some other things in music lessons like playing
games, chatting with classmates or doing their homework for other subject. The reason why music
lessons in China s high schoolbecomes like this situation is that there are many problems existed in
China s high school music education. Therefore, from my perspective, I think there needs to be a
greater understanding of the importance of music education in China s high schools and the current
music education there should change.
First and foremost, teachers use outdated teaching methods and students cannot concentrate on
music lesson because of other academic tasks. For example, teachers always directly introduce the
background of music works, accompaniment instruments and melody styles to students. They don t
care about if every student understands what they said. In this way, the music completely loses the
sense of mystery and the students maybe seem to listen to it very carefully, but they actually
already lost the curiosity of music. Also, students do not concentrate on the class, so they totally

How Does Lawrence s Use Of Juxtaposition
In D.H Lawrence s novel The Rainbow the woman is faced with a situation: a lust for a different
life. One that is not based on blood intimacy like the ideals of her rural family. One that allowed
her to face away from the pulsing heat of the sun and explore the magic land where men were
dominant and creative. However, it is a dream that she may never achieve. Since he used literary
devices such as Irony and juxtaposition, it allowed him to characterize the womanand capture her
situation.
One literary device that he chose to used in order to capture the woman s situation was Irony. The

The juxtaposition was created by the description of the two types of men. In the story both men
share a common trait of power. However, lawrence began to further explain how The vicar
moved in worlds beyond where her own menfolk existed. Did she not know her own menfolk;
fresh, slow, full built men, masterful enough, but easy, native to the earth laking outwardness

husband is strong and has a deep connection with the earth. Her husband does not need a lot to
make himself happy and is content with his limited knowledge that allows him to work the land.
The other description was of the vicar who was satisfied with small, clean and was capable of
doing multiple task. The juxtaposition between the men helps to characterize the woman by
showing what she does and does not want. She wants to live like the vicar, a life with more

Hypnotism Is It Magic Or Reality Essay
Hypnotism: Is it Magic or Reality
Most people know what it is. It has been seen on television and in movies, and the saying,
quot; You are getting very sleepy quot; has become a widely used phrase. Hypnosis has almost
always been thought of as a magic trick, but recent studies show that it is becoming more popular
in medicine and everyday life.
Hypnosis is defined as a state of mind where the body is more reactive to suggestions than in
normal conditions. When under hypnosis, one narrows his or her attention to one subject or object.
Everyone in the world has experienced hypnosis many times. Some examples are daydreaming and
not realizing other events happening, being engrossed in a book or a movie, or ... Show more

When in a light trance, it is feasible that a patient may not believe he or she was hypnotized. But
under deeper trances, more effects are felt such as feeling mellow and light, or feeling very heavy
(Hunter 3).
The three methods of producing hypnosis are autohypnosis, heterohypnosis, and self hypnosis.
Autohypnosis occurs when the mind concentrates on something such as a television program or a
good book and causes a sense of extreme focus. When hypnosis is induced by another person, it is
called heterohypnosis. Heterohypnosis is produced by a hypnotist, usually a professional or
someone sufficiently trained, who puts someone into a hypnotic trance using either words,
movements, or touch. The last method is self hypnosis, which is defined as the process of inducing
hypnosis by oneself (Phelps 12 13).
Even though there are three different defined ways of producing hypnosis, many experts have
come to the conclusion that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. A hypnotist helps to guide and develop
the hypnotic trance, but the person being hypnotized is initially in control (Alman 8). As Karen
Olness, M.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio explains, quot; All
hypnosis is self hypnosis. We all tune things in and out all day long. For example, I can focus on
the conversation we amp;#8217;re having and choose not to notice that I have a slight pain in my

Ancient Civilization Paper
Ancient Civilization Paper
Do you remember the story of Jacob in the Bible? I do, and as I think about how while he was in
Egypt, God gave him the knowledge, skill, and forethought for the preparation for store houses
when the great famine struck the land. This reminds me of how difficult times were in early
civilization. As I studied the textbook, World Civilizations: volume 1: to 1700, I see how far our
civilization has come. I will cover most of the things that made the different cultures better, such as;
advances in technology, major trade routes established, the cultures who utilized the specific trade
routes, and the advancement that agriculture and trade made to influence individual civilizations.
Starting in the Paleolithic Age, times were hard, they worked extremely hard for everything they
could find. The family unit was their society, not until later in time did that grow into communities.
It was at the beginning of the Neolithic Age when the breakthrough began regarding social
organization. In this era, they depended on hunting wild game and gathering wild plants for food.
In the Holocene era, (a geologic age beginning about 12,000 B.C.E. to the present) the world
experienced a dramatic shift to a generally warmer and somewhat drier climate. As conditions
became drier, human groups were forced to settle near surviving bodies of water and to adopt
methods for producing, rather than hunting and foraging for their food. The gradual adoption of
agriculture demanded

The Ethicality Of Human Experimentation
Human experimentation has always been a highly controversial topic and practice. It deals with
the use of human subjects taking part in tests for usually scientific and/or medical purposes.
These tests are done for the end goal of furthering knowledge in certain scientific fields. While it
does have its benefits, it has an immense negative stigma attached to it, and for understandable
reasons. In 1896, a man by the name of Arthur Wentworth performed an operation on 29 children
at a Boston hospital to see if the procedure itself was harmful. His efforts were noted as being
virtually non therapeutic and were given the label of vivisection, which is now a modern, general
term for live experimentation. This however was not the origin of humanexperimentation.... Show

Some of the earliest instances of human experimentation include 1st century s Cleopatra. During
her reign, she tested a belief at the time that concluded it only took 40 days to fully develop a
male fetus and 80 days for a female to fully develop. This was tested by ordering her handmaids to
be inseminated and their wombs cut open during different gestational phases while they were under
a government death sentencing order. An early practice to examine the workings of the human
body indeed, but it is not by far the only one. Two surgeons from the 3rd century of Alexandria by
the names of Herophilus and Erasistratus frequently practiced human experimentation on live
convicted criminals. They were particularly interested in discovering more of the human anatomy
and how it works. Their methods would be considered far too extreme today, as would many

Although the firm has been working on maximum efficiency, Tom Mathis has come up with a
better solution to solve the problem. He plans to cut costs by purchasing supplies from overseas
sellers. Mr. Mathis knew that this strategy would have increased the cost and time of delivery. The
factory buyers should also take the time to investigate any potential new vendors. So he is using
information technology to implement the program and to improve the process of inventory

that it is difficult for them to change the system, so there is a high resistance to change among the

increase production rates without significant investment in information technology. They settled
with the traditional method of trying to adopt new methods and many operating firms were
deliberately separated from the technology because the first thing the experts tell Kanban factory to

manage manufacturing processes in terms of production planning, scheduling, and inventory

The Amendment Of The 14th Amendment
Paper #1 Essay Question #2 Imagine living in a world where everyone was considered equal.
Imagine living in a world where people were considerate of others. Imagine living in a world where
everyone had the same rights and privileges. The Framers took a step at achieving this world with
the passage of the 14th amendment. The intent of the 14th amendment was to prevent state
governments from denying African Americans in the U.S. from their citizenship. At the time
Africans were unable to attain citizenship because of their skin color. The Framer s objective in
formulating the 14th amendment was to grant citizenship to everyone born in the U.S., regardless
of skin color. The 14th amendment expanded the protection of civil rights to all citizens in America.
Barron V. Baltimore (1833) is a significant case in history because it concluded that the fundamental
rights provided by the Bill of Rights were not guaranteed by the state. The U.S. Supreme Court
ruled in favor of Baltimore, concluding hat the 5th amendment was limited and should be followed
by the Federal government. Through this case, Supreme Court Justice John Marshall declared that
the Bill of Rights applied to the federal government, not including the states. According to Section 1
of the 14th Amendment, government laws must not abridge upon the life, liberty, or property on an
individual without just cause . Because of the Due Process Clause in the 14th amendment, the

The Open Boat Literary Analysis
How often do we read books? Not textbooks, but books that provide us with an insight into the
world? It seems for many of us reading a book occurred the last time as far back as high school.
While many people rarely or never open books, others read often or always. MAIN
ARGUMENT: The value of literature lies in its relevance to contemporary society because books
provide us with detailed accounts of human experiences and help understand other people, their
emotions and desires. This claim can be well supported with the evidence from two well known
literary works: Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Edgar Allan Poe s The Purloined Letter.

Manifest Destiny And Manifest Destiny
The currently functioning civilization is solely a result of events in history. Each and every major
event in history has a cause and effect. The effect of that event shapes the perception of different
contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a
significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware
and cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the
United Stateseconomically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the
United States. Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny
constructed how Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions.
The idea of Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to
change the way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes
lead to the United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and
opportunity. There is a cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance
because the Ghost Dance was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European
Americans the destruction they caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West.
A culture can spread its ideology through peaceful means or force. In the case of Manifest Destiny,
occurring in the mid 19th century, the European

Upper House Case Study
It is very evident that Queensland does not have to reinstate an upper house to be an effect
government. This is due to that the original upper house was unable to do its job effectively of
reviewing and negotiating laws and bills. Especially amending money bills that the lower house
passed, due to that its members came from elitist group of wealth and education (Queensland
Parliament, 2010). This elitist upper house resulted in a lacked of diversity, therefore laws that
where made for working class Queenslanders, were rarely passed. Another large benefit of not
having an upper house is that the lower house can debate and process new bills effectively, due to
not having an upper house which can delay bills by up to 6 months. This cuts out the process of
being of going through another house, therefore responding to society as quickly as it changes
(Inside Story, 205). Also the reintroduction of the upper house would also be a costly burden on
society, with the government having to potentially cut representatives in the lower house to
compensate for the new senators (Inside Story, 2015). This cut to the lower house means that there
would be less representatives and more people they are having to represent, therefore missing out
on key minority groups opinions and beliefs in society. Therefore it is very clear that Queensland
has no need for an upper house, and that the state functions adequately without the overruling
power. References Inside Story. 2015. Should Queensland go back to the future? 2014. Accessed

that in this class. I know that I worry about how other people perceive me but I do not think that

a sports shoe is to improve performance or reduce the risk of injury (Fong, Hong Li, 2007).
While playing the game of basketball I ve realized it is a sport that involves different types of
shoes which help improve jumping, landing, cutting and much more. Basketball has its positives
and negatives for every age group; it has good health benefits, but it also consists of moderate to
high risk lower body injuries to the lower back, legs and ankles. There are different types of
basketball shoes which consist of high tops, mid tops, low cuts, cushioned shoes, non cushioned
shoes, and other different combinations. The high tops basketball shoe will have a collar that goes
above the ankle like a sleeve. The mid tops basketball shoe covers slightly above the ankle, but
lower than high tops. The low cut basketball shoes don t have a collar at all and they don t cover
the ankle. Shoes also vary by weight and outsole traction. Through my knowledge picking the
shoe to wear is solely on your preference. Whatever shoe that you choose will have different
advantages or disadvantages to them. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the variety
of effects specific shoe types have on basketball athletes.

The Alamo Paragraph
The Alamo
As Texans began firing at the enemy, deadly shrapnel cut through the columns of advancing
Mexican soldiers and killed and injured many. (Bredson 10). The Alamo was a deadly battle in the
1830s over the independence of Texas from Mexico.
The Alamo was a battle between the Mexicans, and the Texans. The battle was fought over things
such as slavery and to break independence. (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 2). The
battle started on February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. The Texans wanted independence from the
Mexicans, which caused a war. Many people, over 1600 died, and only a few survived, including
Susannah Dickinson and her infant (The Alamo. Paragraph 2).
Towards the end, Santa Anna, a general, was captured. Anna agreed to recognize Texan
independence and told his Mexican forces to leave the state (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 4). Most of the Texans were colonizers. They were looking for wealth, and were
happy to take the acres of land the Mexicans were giving (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 1). On February 23, one hundred fifty men waited outside of the Alamo. Only a few
who approached the Mexicans were Texans (Ramsdell 30). Many of the Texan soldiers were in a
roofless church, also including the famous Davy Crockett, when Mexican soldiers had busted in the
doors (Bredson 11). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Controlled Substance Act Of 1986 Essay
The Current Controlled Substance Act of 1986 and How to Improve It
Last summer two men in Hunt county Texas were arrested for selling synthetic drugs reported by
the Herald Banner. The lab reports returned the substance was not illegal at the time of the offense
. This is not an isolated case but a continuing dilemma for law makers, enforcers and prosecutors
against the makers and distributors of designer drugs. (1) Creating a War on Drugs is not a solution.
Due to the simplicity of manipulating a product on the banned substance list, chemical change
formulations outpace efforts to impose control. (Stock, S. Web) This is why The Analog Act
of1986 containing the Controlled Substance List I II is
ineffective and needs to be modified.

Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and diethyltryptamine (DET) are both on the Controlled Substance I
List of the Analogue Act. The drug alphaethyltryptamine (AET) is not on the Controlled Substance
List. To understand the statement substantially similar , the Case law study USA v. Damon S.
Forbes is introduced. It was alleged that AET was substantially similar to DMT and DET which are
on the Controlled Substance I List and both have psychedelic attributes. The question for the
chemists to debate and the courts to decide; Is the drug alpha ethyl tryptamine (AET) substantially
similar to di methyl tryptamine (DMT) and/or die thyl tryptamine (DET)?. This question directly
challenges the definition of what is substantially similar as stated in the Analogue Act. The
chemicals AET, MET and DHT in their chemical composition are laid out below. The substances
look very similar to the non chemist, but, by using scientific terminology and chemistry the courts
ruled AET is not similar although it does have psychedelic

The Elements Of Buddhist Art
In Ancient Pakistan, an area of land known as Gandhara produced a great deal of Buddhist art.
The works had a very specific style and set of influences that have been compared by art historians
throughout time. The image of what a people call the Gandharan Buddha is easily recognizable for
its distinct features. However, this image is not always universal between Gandharan art. Different
works can share similar features and distinction, but can also have many differences. These can lie
in not only the subjects and how they are approached, but also in the way different areas of the
region approach their art. In order to fully understand Gandharan Buddhist art, it is important to
look at pieces with different subjects, mediums, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These physical attributes, along with symbolic garb and poses are fairly universal across the
Asian continent and the Buddhist art that was created over time. Gandhara was a region
between modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan. Specifically, during the Kushan Period, lasting
from the late 1st c. BCE to the 3rd c. CE, many images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were created
with similar styles. With its close proximity to the Mediterranean and the carrying of culture
along the silk road, artistic influence from Greek and Roman civilization found its way into
works made at this time. Great attention was given to the face. A content expression, with
rounded eyebrows that connect to a flat nose, hollow eyes without pupils, and plump limps can
be found on not only statues of Buddhist figures, but also on statues of the Roman gods and
goddesses. A great detail went into the hair and depiction of the human form across these two
art styles. Just by looking at a statue of the Buddha from Gandhara and a roman statue of an
important figure, it looks like they could be from the same place. However, it was the way the
silk road allowed cultures to interact and influence each other that caused this connection.
Looking at the Gandharan pieces found at the Sackler Gallery, it is easy to see how the Roman
influence carried over to many works of art. Looking specifically at a statue of the head of the
Buddha (Figure 1), one can get an

Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay
In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape
of Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he
believes in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not
only Wayne s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into
stereotypical roles of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the
canon good guy or the hero, while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This
representation is achieved by the comic through its use of details. Due to the illusion of lightand the
use of colors, Batman: Ego represents Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence
and represents Batman as a being of evil and darkness.
Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and
the character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the
comic panels, a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of
the comic, Wayne is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By
doing this, the comic is setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon
of hope who strongly contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most
clearly seen in a panel on page 54. Within this panel, Wayne stands in the shadow of the villainous

commercial contracts which have been entered into. Different legal issues have affected each
contract but on the whole there are three main elements which can be identified, these being, of
breach of contract, frustration of contract and a failure with regard to the perfect tender rule,
mitigated by substantial performance. Each contract will be considered separately using legislation

important element of the contract involved the hire of a large tent and the tropical gardens where it

Universal Health Care
In 2007, more than 45 million Americans did not have health care insurance. The United States is
the only industrialized major nation in the world without health care, and the debate about changing
that has become a popular issue recently. The sharp difference between the two sides is a
difference in ethical values; those for universal health caredesire to see the government help others,
mainly the lower class, and those who do not, wish that private companies be allowed to continue
taking advantage of the status quo for profit. In this paper, I will argue why the Government should
put in place The Universal Healthcare Systems.[1]

Private insurance companies can inflate the price of their service if they desire. A universal
healthcare system prevents that because it is run by the government.[2]
I personally understand health care cost, and spending is a major concern for our society. Many
governments around the world have established all embracing health care, which takes the
burden of health care expenses off of private businesses or individuals through pooling of
financial possibility. There are tons of arguments for universal health care, and related health care
practices. Health care is an important part of health systems, and therefore, it often accounts for
one of the largest areas of high spending for both governments and individuals all over the world.
For example, medical debt is now a leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States. A
policy should be created to help lower the cost of health care.2
One way that would help improve health care spending is to create a universal health care to
make sure everyone is covered. By creating this, it will help decrease the number of lobbyers
which in turn will cut government funding to those special interest groups. There are 45 million
Americans uninsured and according to CNN report, 45,000 Americans die each year due to lack
of affordable health care. So by creating a universal health care system, we can be sure to expect
to see a longer lifespan for our population as is the case in countries that

Descriptionages And Disadvantages Of A Wide Area Network...
Local Area Network A LAN, local area network, is a group of computers and other devices that
share a wireless link to a server. A local area network is usually in a distinct location like an
office where all the devices are close, hence the name local. It is used to share resources like a
printer and can be used with a small group of people or a much larger one. Interconnection
devices such as switches and routers are all used to connect the network to the internet. Wi Fi or
Ethernet can be used to connect the network to the internet. A local area network must relate to
standards and protocols. It does this as it is connected to the internet through the Wi Fi. Wide
Area Network A wide area network is distributed places unlike a local area network which is
local. A WAN interconnects different local area networks. A wide area network could be in
companies and organisations for example, it could have connections to a company s
headquarters or branch facilities. Routers are used to connect a LAN to a WAN. They are
functioned to allow users to share access to applications and other services. There are various
different protocols within a wide area network such as broadband access and point to point
protocol. WAN s are mostly managed by a private organisation so that no other companies can get
on their network however, there is open wide area networks too. The main example would be the
internet. WAN technologies There are various different technologies within a WAN.

My Passion Of Music As A Passion For Music
In the Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, had a love for music. It helped
him grieve when his mom died and music continued to be one of the most important things in his
life. When he was fighting mutant aliens, he plugged in his headphones and let his life have a
soundtrack. Ever since I was little, like Peter Quill, I had a passion for music. Whether I was
playing an instrument, singing, or just listening to it, music has played a huge role in my life. It
has helped me through the bad times and the good times. In my life, music has become a major part
of my identity.
It all began in junior high when I took a couple instruments for a test drive. I loved the way the
sticks pounded on drums and the way the oboe squeaked like a mouse. In the end, I chose the
saxophone. I love the way my fingers glided over the keys as a jazzy flow of music poured out.
Don t get me wrong though because it took me a while before I fully became advanced. I give
credit to my sister for my passion for music. I looked up to her(even if I don t want to admit it).
Filled with admiration, I witnessed her becoming drum major, being student director for the
musical and getting solos in choir. At one time, I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. Fast
forward a couple years, she s currently at college to become a music teacher.
All throughout high school, music has been substantial part in my life. Being in Madrigals, a
special singing group for the best

Fast Tracking Design And Construction Phases Essay
Fast Tracking Design and Construction Phases. The implementation phase of the Chunnel Tunnel
was rife with risks and issues as the project team opted to fast track the design and construction
phases of the project (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 12). Fast tracking is described by the Project
Management Institute (2013, p. 540) as a schedule compression technique in which activities or
phases normally done in sequence are performed in parallel for at least a portion of their duration.
Typically, project teams use this technique in hopes of shortening the delivery timeframe with the
knowledge that this approach makes the project susceptible to additional risks (Anbari, et al.,2005,
p. 10). The Chunnel Tunnelproject team chose to fast track overlap the execution of these two
phases due to schedule delays and cost overruns in previous phases. For the project team,
compressing the construction time was crucial to ensure that the project objectives would be
completed. In time, banks and private investors recognized the incremental risks associated with
continuous delays and began weighing in on project decisions to minimize risks (Anbari, et
al.,2005, p. 9). Financial stakeholders expected a return on investment (ROI) and the project team
allowed them to have too much control when recommending risk mitigation strategies (Anbari, et
al.,2005, p. 9). Thus, subcontractor contracts were changes to fixed price contract and later resulted
in a contractor claim (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 9).

The Role of Chorus in Euripides Medea
The Role of Chorus in Medea
In section 18 of the Poetics Aristotle criticizes Euripides for not allowing the chorus to be one of
the actors and to be a part of the whole and to share in the dramatic action, . . . as in Sophocles.
Aristotle may be thinking of the embolima of Euripides later plays (satirized also by Aristophanes),
but he is certainly wrong about the Medea. Its choral odes are not only all intimately related to the
action but are also essential for the meaning of the play, particularly because here, as elsewhere
(e.g. Hecuba), Euripides forces us reevaluate his main protagonist in midstream and uses the chorus
(in part) to indicate that change.
In her first speech Medea wins over the chorus by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Bernard Knox and others have shown, she also is a woman whose behavior and motivation
are cast in a male rather than a female mode and follow the male heroic code of honor and
revenge. Medea thus comes to embody the problem of defining the nature of woman; and the
female chorus is left just as puzzled as the everyone else.
The fourth stasimon, sung after Medea has persuaded Jason to let their children bring gifts to
conciliate his new bride, shows the chorus s initial sympathy for Medea changing to sympathy
for her victims, the doomed children. They even have a word of sympathy for Jason, whom they
here call kakonumphos, ill wedded (990) as they did in the parode (207), but now in compassion
rather than in accusation. Medea continues to address the chorus as philai, my friends, as she
exits with the irrevocable decision to kill her children (1236 37); but she uses this philia to define
absolute loyalty to her plot that involves the destruction of philoi: compare her use of philos in her
outrageous request to the Messenger for an unhurried telling so that she may relish the deed all the
more (1127 33).
In the fifth stasimon Euripides interrupts the chorus s song by the children s offstage cry at the
moment of their murder, and also intertwines the chorus s singing with their cries at the moment of
their death. By establishing the bond of oppressed womanhood with the chorus in her first speech,
Medea had

The Feminist Theory And The Labeling Theory
Throughout the world, deviant acts and social controls are committed everyday. An incredibly
significant one that is often unreported is sexual assault within the military. Sexual assault is
already determined as an extremely deviant act throughout the world. All acts of rape and other
abusive acts should never be dismissed or ignored, but rapewithin the militaryis often not reported
or recognized. If it is brought to light, the victims are generally in fear of losing their positions,
rankings, homes, relationships with their spouses and families, etc.... This is not to state that men
are not also victims of sexual assault, but women are much more prone and vulnerable to being
attacked and harassed. I will be focusing on the female victims of military assault in this paper.
There are two theories that I have applied to this deviant act. The Feminist theory and the Labeling
theory both have attributes that are applied to sexual assault within the military. The Feminist
theory focuses on the equality between men and women, and the labeling theory discusses the
stigma of giving titles to those due to certain appearances, actions, etc... I have also found some
solutions that could aid in bringing light and helping victims be more comfortable with reporting
attacks. These solutions would involve creating safe zones within the military base for victims,
although the entire base should feel safe for soldiers, but due to the issue then a space should be
provided for those who are on

  • 3. Medieval Modernism And The Scientific Revolution People began to question old, medieval traditional authorities and views and began to invent machines to help assist voyages and the producing of books containing the spread new concepts and research found by scientists. The world before the time when scientific reasoning had largely influenced Europe was filled with the minds of people whose thoughts stuck and mainly believed in the old judgements and ideas formed by old philosophers forming the medieval traditional view. That view was spread all throughout Europe and the church supported these beliefs too further accomplishing the influence the old view had on the people before the Scientific Revolution. However, when people tried accomplishing new tasks such as exploring and wanted to know more about the physical world and began questioning old statements, innovations to thinking and technology were made also unlocking the possibility of the Scientific Revolution and the spread of scientific learning to occur. These innovations made in thinking included the Neoplatonism and the Hermetic Doctrine and innovations in technology included machines helping to creating books a quicker, faster way and invent instruments to help sailors navigate the globe for their explorations. One innovation made that helped make the spread of the Scientific learning and the Scientific Revolution possible was a concept known as Neoplatonism. This was a change made in thinking that differed with the old, medieval traditional views. Neoplatonism stressed the belief that one should search beyond appearances for true knowledge. According to him, truth about nature and God could be found making abstract judgments and reasonings but could best be described using the skills of mathematics. The old traditional view which included Aristotle s concepts stated that the Earth was the center of the universe. The concept of Neoplatonism undermined this way of thinking by stating that one should search more to find the truth especially using mathematics to explain and defend that claim. The idea of Neoplatonism interested and influenced many scientists who also began to question old Aristotle theories due to them being inspired by this message of Greek philosophy. Neoplatonism had assisted in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance The benefits of big data analytics on business performance Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both structured (is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and unstructured data (is information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined model) that is so large it is difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques. In most companies, the volume of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current processing capacity. Despite these problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve operations and make faster, more intelligent decisions. Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e. Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data which come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and correlated. However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason, the company implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business Object). For example, Financial Statements must be displayed on the CEO dashboards instantly all the time. To be able to achieve his requirement, Business ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Microbiology Unknown Autumn White Biology 258 05 November 26, 2012 Unknown #19 Enterbacteriaceae Enterobacter aerogenes ABSTRACT The objective of this report was to identify an unknown microorganism through several differential media tests. Over the course of a couple weeks, ten tests were performed. First, a gram stain was performed, indicating the bacterium was gram negative. An aerotolerance test determined that the bacterium was a facultative anaerobe. Next, a negative result in the methyl red test indicated that no mixed acid fermentation occurred. The DNase test was performed and yielded a positive result. The SIM test provided two outcomes, that the bacterium did not reduce sulfur nor produce indole from tryptophan.... • 7. Pathology Of The Autonomic Nervous System Introduction In this report, the symptoms of this patient will be diagnosed, and the causes of them discussed with reference to the physiology and pharmacology of the autonomic nervous system. The Autonomic Nervous System The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of the motor division of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) that controls involuntary processes in the body (Wieczorek, 2014). Such functions include control of heart rate, gland activity, smooth muscle contraction and constriction of blood vessels (Biology online.org, 2014). The ANS is divided into two branches, the sympathetic nervous system (SN) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PN). The SN is responsible for the fight or flight response, which results in increased preparedness for vigorous activity in response to exercise or emergency. The PN acts antagonistically to the SN, in that it produces the opposite effects to those of the SN. Under normal circumstances, the PN is dominant, and allows processes such as digestion and defecation to occur, while also conserving energy (Elmhurst.edu, 2014). Most of the visceral organs of the body are innervated by both sympathetic and parasympathetic neurones, with the exceptions being sweat glands and the smooth muscle of blood vessels they are only innervated by sympathetic nerve fibres (Wieczorek, 2014). In the ANS, a number of different neurotransmitters and receptors are present. In both the PN and SN, the neurotransmitter at the ganglia is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden The poem Clocks and Lovers by W. H. Auden s contrasts the idea of whether or not love will outlast time. Initially, the poem portrays a lover affirming the belief that love will triumph over time. The poem transitions and depicts the clocks argument that due to time, love will eventually fade away. The narrator contrasts the two arguments with usage of imagery, personification, tone and diction. The argument that lovewill prevail over time is contrasted by the belief that as time goes by, time can never be stopped and love will not last. Overall, neither belief is represented as correct because the narrator contrasts the two opposing arguments by displaying that two arguments are incompatible. In regards to their following arguments, time is not as malicious or arduous to love but love is not impervious to time. Beginning early in the poem and used heavily throughout, imagery and personification are utilized to exemplify the lovers argument. The belief that love is never ending is created through never ending connotations, I ll love you, dear, I ll love you Till China and Africa meet, and the river jumps over the mountain and the salmon sing in the street. The lover uses images of the impossible such as fish singing, the laws of physics breaking, and distant continents meeting. This strengthens the original belief that love is eternal and superior to time itself. These tasks are nearly impossible and the idea of love one day ending is equated with them. ... • 15. A Rose For Emily Symbolism Essay The Gift of a Rose A Rose for Emily is one of the best known short story by William Faulkner (Mays 633). It is a short story filled with mystery, suspense, and tragedy. In this short story Faulkner uses symbolism to show logical tragedy, insanity, loneliness, and pride. Faulkner accomplishes this by letting symbolism help characterize the complex main character: Miss Emily Grierson. Symbolism is the act of using a person, place, thing, or event that figuratively represents or stands for something else (Baldick 633). When trying to explain anything to a reader you can do it directly but by using a symbol to achieve this it adds more meaning to what you are saying. The reason most authors use this literary device is to make the meaning of something more powerful and observable to the reader. When determining the meaning of symbols in literature there is never a wrong or right answer. Therefore the use of symbolism means having the story interpreted in a different perspective from reader to reader. This results in having the story passed on from generation to generation. William Faulknerwas born in Mississippi in 1897 (Biography.com Editors). He is consider one of the greatest novelist and in 1949 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature... In regards to Mike Honda, He was a congressman from, California and spent his early years in a Japanese internment camp. I completely agree with Gladwell on most of the points that he made and I believe that if most of the guidelines such as the 10,000 hour rule, advantageous era of birth etc... are followed, then one will have the opportunity to be successful. But not all of what Gladwell stated like the Matthew Effect (Wright P, 2003), are needed to become successful. • 22. Dormant Commerce Clause Essay Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is? The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007). Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business? The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). The Importance Of Music Education Music education is a very important and basic part of general education, but now in China s high school, teachers and students are not aware of the importance of music education. What s more, students didn t take music lessons seriously, they always do some other things in music lessons like playing games, chatting with classmates or doing their homework for other subject. The reason why music lessons in China s high schoolbecomes like this situation is that there are many problems existed in China s high school music education. Therefore, from my perspective, I think there needs to be a greater understanding of the importance of music education in China s high schools and the current music education there should change. First and foremost, teachers use outdated teaching methods and students cannot concentrate on music lesson because of other academic tasks. For example, teachers always directly introduce the background of music works, accompaniment instruments and melody styles to students. They don t care about if every student understands what they said. In this way, the music completely loses the sense of mystery and the students maybe seem to listen to it very carefully, but they actually already lost the curiosity of music. But under deeper trances, more effects are felt such as feeling mellow and light, or feeling very heavy (Hunter 3). The three methods of producing hypnosis are autohypnosis, heterohypnosis, and self hypnosis. Autohypnosis occurs when the mind concentrates on something such as a television program or a good book and causes a sense of extreme focus. When hypnosis is induced by another person, it is called heterohypnosis. Heterohypnosis is produced by a hypnotist, usually a professional or someone sufficiently trained, who puts someone into a hypnotic trance using either words, movements, or touch. The last method is self hypnosis, which is defined as the process of inducing hypnosis by oneself (Phelps 12 13). I do, and as I think about how while he was in Egypt, God gave him the knowledge, skill, and forethought for the preparation for store houses when the great famine struck the land. This reminds me of how difficult times were in early civilization. As I studied the textbook, World Civilizations: volume 1: to 1700, I see how far our civilization has come. I will cover most of the things that made the different cultures better, such as; advances in technology, major trade routes established, the cultures who utilized the specific trade routes, and the advancement that agriculture and trade made to influence individual civilizations. Starting in the Paleolithic Age, times were hard, they worked extremely hard for everything they could find. The family unit was their society, not until later in time did that grow into communities. It was at the beginning of the Neolithic Age when the breakthrough began regarding social organization. In this era, they depended on hunting wild game and gathering wild plants for food. In the Holocene era, (a geologic age beginning about 12,000 B.C.E. to the present) the world experienced a dramatic shift to a generally warmer and somewhat drier climate. It seems for many of us reading a book occurred the last time as far back as high school. While many people rarely or never open books, others read often or always. MAIN ARGUMENT: The value of literature lies in its relevance to contemporary society because books provide us with detailed accounts of human experiences and help understand other people, their emotions and desires. This claim can be well supported with the evidence from two well known literary works: Stephen Crane s The Open Boat and Edgar Allan Poe s The Purloined Letter. Literature is highly relevant to the contemporary society because it provides readers with the preview of human experiences and helps learn about life. One great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Published back in 1897 in Scribner s Magazine, the story documents the shipwrecking experience of one correspondent when the narrator and three other men end up in a dinghy in the middle of nowhere. The short story is based on true events. Crane, himself a war correspondent, experienced a shipwreck while on his way to Cuba to cover the insurrection of Cubans against the Spanish crown. The short story, written with a great deal of naturalism, describes how Crane and three other men in the ten foot dinghy fought for their lives with the sea and its multiple dangers. Here one will learn how four men the narrator, Captain, the cook, and Billy the oiler were surviving in the boat, how they finally challenged the frightening power of the sea, and reach land (except for Billy). The experience of the dead Billy is another insight into human experience and lack/fate. Specifically, the death of the oiler, became a great surprise for everyone else because out of the four people trapped in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Manifest Destiny And Manifest Destiny The currently functioning civilization is solely a result of events in history. Each and every major event in history has a cause and effect. The effect of that event shapes the perception of different contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware and cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the United Stateseconomically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the United States. Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny constructed how Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions. The idea of Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to change the way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes lead to the United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and opportunity. There is a cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance because the Ghost Dance was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European Americans the destruction they caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West. A culture can spread its ideology through peaceful means or force. In the case of Manifest Destiny, occurring in the mid 19th century, the European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Upper House Case Study It is very evident that Queensland does not have to reinstate an upper house to be an effect government. This is due to that the original upper house was unable to do its job effectively of reviewing and negotiating laws and bills. Especially amending money bills that the lower house passed, due to that its members came from elitist group of wealth and education (Queensland Parliament, 2010). This elitist upper house resulted in a lacked of diversity, therefore laws that where made for working class Queenslanders, were rarely passed. Another large benefit of not having an upper house is that the lower house can debate and process new bills effectively, due to not having an upper house which can delay bills by up to 6 months. This cuts out the process of being of going through another house, therefore responding to society as quickly as it changes (Inside Story, 205). Also the reintroduction of the upper house would also be a costly burden on society, with the government having to potentially cut representatives in the lower house to compensate for the new senators (Inside Story, 2015). This cut to the lower house means that there would be less representatives and more people they are having to represent, therefore missing out on key minority groups opinions and beliefs in society. Therefore it is very clear that Queensland has no need for an upper house, and that the state functions adequately without the overruling power. References Inside Story. 2015. At first it seemed that completing a statement this powerful would be a very daunting task. The text book says that mental intelligence will get you into a management position but it stops being helpful after entry into that position. A leader needs to have good emotional intelligence to continue to lead. Self awareness has to do with my purpose and I am working towards finding that in this class. I know that I worry about how other people perceive me but I do not think that is the same thing as recognizing it, which is social awareness. I think that I will have to spend some time mastering the first two elements of emotional intelligence before I can work on self regulation. I do not know how I can stick to a path and make corrections to get back to it, until I have established a clear path. There were some interesting comments made about behaviors that help us get closer to our purpose. A reflective practice of checking in twice a day was brought up. I thought about how I might do this and I know that I would struggle with this significantly. I worry about how honest I would be with myself, so I would have to check in with my wife or a close friend that will keep honest with my feelings. I would have never thought that some kind of physical activity would help me get closer to my purpose. After hearing Mrs. McKnight talk about these practices I can see how it would help. The purpose of a sports shoe is to improve performance or reduce the risk of injury (Fong, Hong Li, 2007). While playing the game of basketball I ve realized it is a sport that involves different types of shoes which help improve jumping, landing, cutting and much more. Basketball has its positives and negatives for every age group; it has good health benefits, but it also consists of moderate to high risk lower body injuries to the lower back, legs and ankles. There are different types of basketball shoes which consist of high tops, mid tops, low cuts, cushioned shoes, non cushioned shoes, and other different combinations. The high tops basketball shoe will have a collar that goes above the ankle like a sleeve. The mid tops basketball shoe covers slightly above the ankle, but lower than high tops. The low cut basketball shoes don t have a collar at all and they don t cover the ankle. Shoes also vary by weight and outsole traction. However, it was the way the silk road allowed cultures to interact and influence each other that caused this connection. • 47. Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero, while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic through its use of details. Due to the illusion of lightand the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil and darkness. Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels, a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Private insurance companies can inflate the price of their service if they desire. A universal healthcare system prevents that because it is run by the government.[2] I personally understand health care cost, and spending is a major concern for our society. Many governments around the world have established all embracing health care, which takes the burden of health care expenses off of private businesses or individuals through pooling of financial possibility. There are tons of arguments for universal health care, and related health care practices. Health care is an important part of health systems, and therefore, it often accounts for one of the largest areas of high spending for both governments and individuals all over the world. For example, medical debt is now a leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States. A policy should be created to help lower the cost of health care.2 One way that would help improve health care spending is to create a universal health care to make sure everyone is covered. By creating this, it will help decrease the number of lobbyers which in turn will cut government funding to those special interest groups. There are 45 million Americans uninsured and according to CNN report, 45,000 Americans die each year due to lack of affordable health care. A local area network is usually in a distinct location like an office where all the devices are close, hence the name local. It is used to share resources like a printer and can be used with a small group of people or a much larger one. Interconnection devices such as switches and routers are all used to connect the network to the internet. Wi Fi or Ethernet can be used to connect the network to the internet. A local area network must relate to standards and protocols. It does this as it is connected to the internet through the Wi Fi. Wide Area Network A wide area network is distributed places unlike a local area network which is local. A WAN interconnects different local area networks. A wide area network could be in companies and organisations for example, it could have connections to a company s headquarters or branch facilities. Routers are used to connect a LAN to a WAN. They are functioned to allow users to share access to applications and other services. There are various different protocols within a wide area network such as broadband access and point to point protocol. Whether I was playing an instrument, singing, or just listening to it, music has played a huge role in my life. It has helped me through the bad times and the good times. In my life, music has become a major part of my identity. It all began in junior high when I took a couple instruments for a test drive. • 53. Fast Tracking Design And Construction Phases Essay Fast Tracking Design and Construction Phases. The implementation phase of the Chunnel Tunnel was rife with risks and issues as the project team opted to fast track the design and construction phases of the project (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 12). Fast tracking is described by the Project Management Institute (2013, p. 540) as a schedule compression technique in which activities or phases normally done in sequence are performed in parallel for at least a portion of their duration. Typically, project teams use this technique in hopes of shortening the delivery timeframe with the knowledge that this approach makes the project susceptible to additional risks (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 10). The Chunnel Tunnelproject team chose to fast track overlap the execution of these two phases due to schedule delays and cost overruns in previous phases. For the project team, compressing the construction time was crucial to ensure that the project objectives would be completed. In time, banks and private investors recognized the incremental risks associated with continuous delays and began weighing in on project decisions to minimize risks (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 9). Financial stakeholders expected a return on investment (ROI) and the project team allowed them to have too much control when recommending risk mitigation strategies (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 9). Thus, subcontractor contracts were changes to fixed price contract and later resulted in a contractor claim (Anbari, et al.,2005, p. 9). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role of Chorus in Euripides Medea The Role of Chorus in Medea In section 18 of the Poetics Aristotle criticizes Euripides for not allowing the chorus to be one of the actors and to be a part of the whole and to share in the dramatic action, . . . as in Sophocles. Aristotle may be thinking of the embolima of Euripides later plays (satirized also by Aristophanes), but he is certainly wrong about the Medea. Its choral odes are not only all intimately related to the action but are also essential for the meaning of the play, particularly because here, as elsewhere (e.g. Hecuba), Euripides forces us reevaluate his main protagonist in midstream and uses the chorus (in part) to indicate that change. In her first speech Medea wins over the chorus by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Bernard Knox and others have shown, she also is a woman whose behavior and motivation are cast in a male rather than a female mode and follow the male heroic code of honor and revenge. Medea thus comes to embody the problem of defining the nature of woman; and the female chorus is left just as puzzled as the everyone else. The fourth stasimon, sung after Medea has persuaded Jason to let their children bring gifts to conciliate his new bride, shows the chorus s initial sympathy for Medea changing to sympathy for her victims, the doomed children. They even have a word of sympathy for Jason, whom they here call kakonumphos, ill wedded (990) as they did in the parode (207), but now in compassion rather than in accusation. Medea continues to address the chorus as philai, my friends, as she exits with the irrevocable decision to kill her children (1236 37); but she uses this philia to define absolute loyalty to her plot that involves the destruction of philoi: compare her use of philos in her outrageous request to the Messenger for an unhurried telling so that she may relish the deed all the more (1127 33). In the fifth stasimon Euripides interrupts the chorus s song by the children s offstage cry at the moment of their murder, and also intertwines the chorus s singing with their cries at the moment of their death. An incredibly significant one that is often unreported is sexual assault within the military. Sexual assault is already determined as an extremely deviant act throughout the world. The Feminist theory and the Labeling theory both have attributes that are applied to sexual assault within the military. The Feminist theory focuses on the equality between men and women, and the labeling theory discusses the stigma of giving titles to those due to certain appearances, actions, etc...
