TOPIC: Veganism
TITLE: Life in the Vegan Zone
GENERAL PURPOSE: To inform
SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To inform my audience about what it means to be a vegan

Harriet Tubman Quotes
I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what
most conductors can t say I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a
passenger (Harriet Tubman Historical Society; Quotes). Harriet Tubman , one of the
world s bravest woman s, freed thousands of slaves to Canada starting in 1853
(Africans in America). She was a fearless woman, working diligently in the United
States to help the slaves in the south escape their harsh conditions right before and
during the civil war. Harriet Tubmanwas motivated to struggle for change to help
herself, her family, and other slaves escape by the Underground Railroad.
Araminta Ross, known as Harriet Tubman, was born a slave in Dorchester County,
Maryland. Harriet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was very good at what she did and no one could catch her. The danger was
increased in 1850 when the fugitive slave act was enforced. This meant that any
slave that came to the North as a fugitive could be captured and returned back to
slavery. No matter what the people in the North thought, they had to follow the
law and help aid in the capture of the slaves to return them back to where they
came from. Tubman didn t let this defeat her, she rerouted the Underground
Railroad to Canada. Tubman and her fugitive slaves remained uncaptured and safe
as they made their journey to Canada (Harriet Tubman Biography). There are two
things I ve got a right to, and these are, Death or Liberty one or the other I mean to
have. No one will take me back alive; I shall fight for my liberty, and when the time
has come for me to go, the Lord will let them, kill me (Harriet Tubman Historical
Society; Quotes).. Araminta Tubman stopped at nothing to continue her
dangerous, life risking work. The new laws only pushed her to become better at
what she was doing and she became very good with new tactics.Tubman
discovered that it was best to work in the winter and help slaves escape on
saturdays. Runaway slaves couldn t be published in the newspaper until Monday
morning (Harriet Tubman Historical Society;Facts). No matter what, she knew
she had death or Liberty and she knew God would give her death after she
accomplished everything she possibly could. Harriet Tubman left people in aw
with her ambition to fight for herself and anyone else. Her selflessness and
diligence to helping people left her with the nickname moses(Harriet Tubman
Biography). Moses became Araminta Tubman s new name for a very long time.
She encouraged the slaves to never give up and do whatever they put their minds
too. Tubman, later on, still remained active during the civil war. She worked as a
cook and nurse then worked her way up to become an armed scout and
Disadvantages Of Organisational Culture
What is organizational culture? Organizational culture can be referred as culture and
behavior of an organization that affect how people make interaction with other. Every
organization had culture that is unique and therefore difficult to be change. Thus, it
can be used as a management tool for an organization to operate efficiency. The need
of this title is to find out which organizational culturethat I preferred to fit in. In view
of Mats Alvesson (2012), he believed that symbols and meaning are key concept of
organizational culture. Meaning can be view as how an object to be analytic while
symbols can be defined as a word or statement. Symbols usually carry at least two or
more meaning in it. For example, symbol in economic term.

The advantage of this culture is the competition that present among co worker will
ignite the sprits that boost productivity. Instead of being productivity, competition
also encourages innovation. They will always under constant pressure to perform
their job in unique way because they must done their job better than average
standard to compete with other. Cameron Ettington (1988) review that co worker
will not feel bored in their work since there is no chance for them to feel laziness in
this competitive environment. But this culture also had some disadvantage. First of
all, the highly competitive environment forced co worker constantly compares
themselves with other, and as result they will fell not satisfied and unhappy. The
fierce competition among co worker will produce a stressful working environment,
hence negative feelings will form. For example, team sprit will be destroyed,
individual preferred to work alone to achieve their goal instead working as a team.
In overall, market culture will mostly be preferred by big organization because
everyone in organization will compete with each other to done their work, as result
organization will yield a higher profit. There is certain co worker that likes work
hard in order to accomplish their goal also preferred to enroll in this culture since
they just need to work hard to receive the reward. But for people that like to work in
a peaceful and relax environment, this culture definitely is not their
Regnault s Automedon with the Horses of Achilles Essay
Regnault s Automedon with the Horses of Achilles
Henri Regnault s Automedon with the Horses of Achilles looms large in the East
wing of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. The painting is over ten
feet by ten feet in area and is truly spectacular. It is impossible to miss this massive
work of art when walking through the hall. The painting is encased by a beautiful
wooden frame and hangs in between many other outstanding paintings. This paper
will cover a description of the painting, the meaning of the painting, and the
background of how the painting was brought to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I

The science of oil painting came to it s full fruition in the nineteenth century. The
palette now included dazzling colors which could electrify a painting. First a student
of Cabanel s and later influenced by Mariano Fortuny y Marshal, Regnault was one
of the rising stars of the Romantic movement. He lived a passionate life, traveling to
the Middle East even though he was broke, hanging out in Spain as it rose up against
Queen Isabella the Second, he loved excitement and adventure.
Henri Regnault predicted that he would not live long. Less than a year after this
painting was completed his prediction came true; while fighting in the Franco
Prussion war, even though he was exempt from military service because of his artist
status, he died in the battle of Buzenfal at the age of twenty eight.

The painting is very expressive as it shows the strength of the humanity and nature.
The human is actually winning this battle with the horses. The dark colors also
accompany this idea. The lighting is rather dim in this painting with a stormy sky
above. The perspective is from floor level making the viewer look up in order to
appreciate the full specter of this painting. The massive size of the painting proves
that Regnault is trying to express power and
The Olympics Is Not Worth The Investment
The ability to take risks is one of the most important characteristics of a successful
businessperson. Of course, there is never any guarantee that an investment will yield
significant returns. An example of a very risky decision from an economic standpoint
is a country deciding to host the Olympic games. Host cities of the Olympics often
promise that they can gain capital from tourism, attracting new investment from
foreign entities, increased trade, and returns on investment in infrastructure. Many
countries have seen considerable success in gaining back the money invested into
their Olympic games. Salt Lake City s 2002 Olympics, Beijing s 2008 Olympics, and
London s 2012 Olympics are all events that stimulated economic... Show more

For instance, the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics were able to turn a profit.
The Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC), had to make last minute
extensions to security measures in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The
security force for the games consisted of 12,000 people. Regardless of this
unexpected last minute expense of $500 million USD, the U.S. was able to profit
by $101 million USD from the games. This is in part due to the fact that only three
out of the fifteen venues used for the games were not already built. This means
that the SLOC was able to cut down on their overall costs. The games were
broadcast to over 2.1 billion television viewers in 160 nations worldwide. The
attendance averaged 70,000 people each day at the fifteen venues as 1.5 million
tickets were sold. Each of the fifteen venues used in the games are still in use
today. These statistics show that the SLOC was very successful in their approach.
Since a lot of capital was invested in security, people were able to feel safe at the
games and as a result, ticket sales met expected targets in spite of the September 11
attacks. In another example, China was able to make unprecedented revenues from
their 2008 Olympic Games held in Beijing. Their Olympic games cost a never
before seen total of 19 billion Chinese yuan, which was the equivalent to $44 billion

An additional area where Amazon has been making strategic acquisition maneuvers
is in the educational field. The first educational company Amazon would acquire is
the Seattle based company of TeachStreet. Amazon did not disclose the price it paid
for the company. TeachStreet s interface allows users to find local tutors and variety

TeachStreet s websites provide a valuable link between students seeking actives and
teachers providing lessons for the sought after activities. At the time of the purchase
TeachStreet had over 15,000 classes in cities on both the west and East Coast.
(Lamm) The next educational acquisition would come in October of 2013 when
Amazon would acquire TenMarks for an undisclosed amount. TenMarks produces
education math programs which follow the Common Core teaching method. The two
companies will work together to build the technology into the Kindle Fire. Amazon
believes that as the Kindle is able to deliver more education value the cheaper cost of
the Kindle will allow more schools to being using advanced technology to teach

Compare And Contrast Bowlby And Maslow
Applying two theoretical approaches I would apply Bowlby (attachment) and
Maslow (humanistic). John Bowlby was a psychoanalyst and believed that mental
health and behavioural problems could be linked to early childhood. Bowlby
suggested that a child would initially form only one primary attachment (monotropy)
and that the attachment figure acted as a secure base for exploring the world. The
attachment relationship acts as a model for all future social relationships so
disrupting it can have severe consequences.
This theory also suggests that there is a significant phase for developing an
attachment (about 0 5 years). If an attachment has not developed throughout this
period then the child will experience from irreversible developmental consequences,
such as lack of intelligence and enhanced aggression. Bowlby also explains in his
theory Deprivation and Privation. Deprivation means the temporary prolonged and
permanent separation of a child from its attachment figure. Privation is where no
attachment figure has been formed. Bowlby identified a number of possible short and
long term effects of maternal deprivation and these are detailed in the table below:
This may explain Anna s inability to form solid relationships with others. Anna would

The Inborn Names Of The Morongo Reservation
Set at the extremity of the striking San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, the
Morongo Indian Reservation extends more than 35,000 acres and overlooks the
desert vistas of the Banning Pass. Wild buckwheat, mesquite and chaparral still
flourish here, and the ubiquitous breeze ensures that the air is always fresh and clear.
One of the inborn names of the Morongo Reservation was Malki, and it was located
in what was once called the Wanikik territory. In the mid 19th century, the Serrano
people to the north began journeying to the Malki settlement. They brought with them
the Morongo name derivative from the Serrano name for their people, Maringayam.
Since the late 19th century, the Morongo Reservation has been tenanted by a mix of
Cahuilla, Serrano, Luiseno and Cupeno people.
Irrepressible and ingenious, the Morongo tribe has overcome many hardships. The
Morongo Reservation was one of nine small reservations set aside by President
Grant by Executive Order in 1865. The lands taken into trust by the federal
government did not include land with access to surface water. Accordingly, tribal
members had to travel miles each day just to acquire water and to forage for food.
Through their industriousness and capability to survive in an unstable physical and
political environment, the Morongo tribe began a small bingo venture in 1983.
On February 25, 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that neither the state of
California nor Riverside County could control the bingo and card

1945 to 1991 and invented many things, for example the doomsday clock which
counts down to humanity destruction of nuclear war, glady never reached midnight.
Many of these causes were because of basic philosophical differences between the
US and USSR. Another reason would be broken promises and unsettled arguments
made during World War II or shortly after. Also the spread of communism creating the

calls the U.S to help out. This basically meant that communism was spreading and
taking down democracy and that the U.S is needed to stop the threat. So U.S does

As the result the United State did something to stop communism spreading and so the
Truman Doctrine was formed. In 1947, Greece and Turkey were in threat by the
Soviet Union and were about to become communist but Truman tells congress for
their help so they stabilize their economy by transferring 400 million dollars and
preventing them from becoming communist. This showed nations that the United
States would do anything to stop communist aggression.
In the End, no bullets were fired nor bombs were dropped but this cold war could
have lead to the next World War which would have left the world in shambles of the
nuclear power each nation had in there deposit. Each nation was close to war
because of basic philosophical differences and many broken promises but luckily the

Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia
American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in
America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men
residing in New York City throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique
aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized narrative, is that each focal male
character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective sexual
orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through
the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior
Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of
sexuality as a dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative
progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic
stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of
sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum.
The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each
character experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the
closet and overtly open one is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more
seemingly secure they are with themselves and vice versa. It appears that each male
protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on his enactments of
gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that the more
effeminate a male character acts, the more open and

Block 2 Analysis
Many people try to dissect the relationship of John the Baptist and Jesus as either
rivals or mentor. However, in the several passages found in Block 1, we see John
asking people to repent and seek the Lords grace. This presents John as a servant of
Jesus. In block 2, we see John completely humbled as Jesusasks him to baptize him.
He was so shocked that he asked Jesus if the positions should be reversed. We do not
grasp much of Jesus character as he says very little/nothing. However, we see
reassurance of God s presence over Jesus when he sends the dove. In block 3, we
experience Jesus as a teaching Jesus. He uses analogies in order to explain his
teachings. This is something that we don t see John do. In block 4, we read that
John s disciples approach... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather, Jesus praises John and his faithfulness. For block 1, we see John as a
humble follower of God, spreading the word of the Lord. In Block 2 we see John
once again humbled as Jesus asked for him to baptize him. In block 3 we see Jesus
as a teacher. Finally, in block 4 we see John question Jesus. This is very different in
comparison to blocks 1 and 2. However we see Jesus praise John nevertheless,
which is in contrast to block 3 (teaching Jesus). We hear of Johns appearance in
block 1. In Matthew 3:1 6 we hear of the clothing that John wears (camel s hair,
leather belt). In all of the other blocks we don t get exact depictions of the clothing
worn by Jesus or John. In terms of fasting we see a contrast between Jesus disciples
and John s disciples. Where John s disciples fast, Jesus do not. Jesus explains this
by saying that his disciples do not yet have anything to fast for. From these
comparisons, we can conclude that Jesus and John have many differences. I believe
that they have more differences then similarities. Jesus and John are not equals,
rather John s mission is to serve and spread the new of Jesus. Jesus views John as a

Dead Poet s Society
What motivates people to live their own life? Why do people decide not to
conform to all others and exist as their own being? Carpe diem, or seize the day, is
one of the main themes and overall message of Dead Poets Society and a strong
motivator in the lives of Mr. Keating s class. The theme is not created by Keating,
however, but introduced through the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time
, in which the speaker warns the audience to not delay and live their lives to the
fullest. To conclude that this poem best exemplifies the meaning of Dead Poets
Society, one must evaluate the themes of the movie, and look at how the message
of carpe diem was applied in the classroom and in the actions of Knox Overstreet.
Dead Poets Society contains many themes of great importance. Within Welton,
conformity is the only way to succeed. As Mr. McCallister says in the dining scene
with Mr. Keating, You take a big risk by

Keating preaches carpe diem, the boys learn from him in their own unique ways.
Knox Overstreet takes the advice to heart, literally. He uses Mr. Keating s Carpe
Diem speech to inspire him to pursue his love, despite all odds. While considering
to call her, Knox exclaims, She s gonna hate me. The Danburrys will hate me. My
parents will kill me. , and after a brief, silent stare from his friends, he says, All
right, goddamn it. You re right. Carpe diem. Even if it kills me (Dead Poets
Society). This shows that the advice that Mr. Keating is trying to instill in his
students has burrowed its way into their heads and ingrained itself in their heads.
The poem mimics this ideology of carpe diem, especially in the field of love. The
poem says, Then be not coy, but use your time, / And while ye may, go marry; / For
having lost but once your prime, / You may forever tarry (Herrick 13 16), to which
Herrick literally implores the reader to find love and hold it tightly, and figuratively
continues the theme of seizing the day before it s too
Brief Encounter Essay
Is Brief Encounter best understood as a sober realist drama or as an imaginary love
affair?
Brief Encounter (1945), according to Dyer Richard s words (1993, p.9), is a lovely
film , but also pretty much a good one too . It indicates that this film conveys many
symbolic meanings, such as how people struggle in forbidden love, but represents the
reality as well, like women are vulnerable in a relationship. In this essay, it will be
claimed from three aspects to prove the film is best understood as a sober realist

Essay on Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
The Wrong Trousers is a Clay Animation Production (where all characters are made
out of clay). Created by Nick Park (a famous Animator) in 1993, The Wrong
Trousers stars Wallace and Gromit in their second animated adventure (they were
first introduced to British Viewers in 1990 in another Nick Park production A Grand
Day Out .) In this particular adventure we see how bad things can get when
technology gets into the wrong hands...
The Wrong Trouserswas created by a clever technique called Clay Animation

Also I think that comedy can be found due to the naГЇvetГ© of Wallace, for example
his shock when he realises that his Penguin lodger is actually the Chicken that has
been robbing local banks, his disguise? A red rubber glove. In my opinion these
mixtures of comedy are funny without being offensive to any cultural or ethnical
groups. This means that both adults and children can enjoy The Wrong Trousers as
they can all take in something different from the film.
It is said that mans best friend is his Dog, and that leads me to a greatly influential
character in the Wallace and Gromit series, this of course being Gromit, the dog. I
believe that his personification has been cleverly done as it is not completely
conspicuous, by this I mean that whilst Gromit is granted Human qualities (such as
the ability to read), his lack of a voice means that we do not recognise him as a
human, therefore leaving him with his canine status. Therefore, essentially Gromit
is a human yet isn t, he drinks tea, reads newspapers and even has his own dog
specific library of books but then he doesn t possess a voice. I think that
Analysis of Caius Cassius Character
Analysis of Caius Cassius Character
Caius Cassius plays one of the most important roles in William Shakespeare s play,
Julius Caesar , which is centred round the assassination of the Roman dictator. The
driving force behind the conspiracy is Cassius though there are others who are
unhappy with the state of affairs under the prevailing system. Yet, they do not take
an active part in the design to get rid of powerful Caesar. So, it is not incorrect to
state that the chief protagonist of the assassination plot is no one but Caius Cassius.

The strategy succeeds in obtaining Brutus whole hearted involvement in the
conspiracy when he says, Speak, strike, redress! Am I entreated
To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise,
If the redress will follow, thou receivest
Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! Act 2.ii.
Though the method employed to convert Brutus is quite unprincipled, it shows, no
doubt, the skill of a practical man to achieve his objective by hook or by crook.
Hence, it can be counted as a plus point in his character. Brutus patriotism and self
love impede him from seeing the deep chasm to which he is pushed by artful
manipulation.
Unlike Brutus, Cassius is a far sighted man. He is aware of the capability of Antony
and his solid friendship with Caesar. An important item in his plan is to get rid of
Mark Antony as well, along with Caesar since he concludes that he is a potential
danger to their cause. But this is over ruled by Brutus on the premise that it will foul
their good intention. Brutus reaction to the suggestion is:
Let s be sacrificers, but not butchers, Caius. Act 2 Scene i.
What takes place later fully justifies the stand taken by Cassius with regard to
Antony. If Brutus agreed with Cassius, the conspiracy would have been a complete
success.
Brutus permits Antony to make a funeral oration at Caesar s burial. Again Cassius
objects to Antony being allowed to speak for he sees it
Longhorn Steakhouse History
LongHorn Steakhouse
It all started with a man by the name of George McKerrow Jr, who had a passion for
delicious steaks. Luckily he had a snowstorm hit his hometown in Atlanta, Georgia
that brought stranded motorist into the only hospitable place available a restaurant
called LongHorn Steaks Restaurant Saloon. The tales of the expertly grilled steak was
spread like a wildfire throughout the towns. This was the beginning of a new chain
restaurant called LongHorn Steakhouse, which is known for their Flo s Filet and the
Bone In Outlaw, fall of the bone ribs, and hand cut salmon. In later years, LongHorn
eventually joined Darden Restaurants with Olive Garden and Red Lobster. With a
location in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it is one of many steakhouses that you
can choose from. It is a well organized restaurant that has been serving steak,
chicken, and fish for 30 years where the meat is never frozen. In addition to that, it
is the only steakhouse that catches the eyes of the customer, usually from the dark
red lights that light up during the night. The restaurant is opened Sunday to
Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Friday to Saturday 11:00 to 11:00 PM.
As we walk through the double doors of the entrance, we are warmly greeted right
away by the LongHorn Staff, who are dressed in black tops and blue jeans. We had
dinner at Longhorn after discovering a 30 minute wait at our first restaurant choice.
The wait at Longhorn was only about 15 minutes, which was not bad for a

Aeneas As A Trojan Hero In Greco-Roman Mythology
Aeneas was a Trojan hero in Greco Roman mythology. He was the son of Aphrodite
and the prince Anchises. He is also believed to be a descendant of Remus and
Romulus in Roman Mythology. His story starts when Zeus wanted to take revenge
on Aphrodite for making all the gods fall in love with mortal women. As a
punishment, Zeus made her fall in love with Anchises. In some versions of the story
Aphrodite stumbles upon Anchises while traveling or appears before him. Whichever
version it is, Anchises is smitten by Aphrodite s beauty. After sleeping together,
Aphrodite reveals her true form to him. Anchises feared the consequences for what
he did. Aphrodite assures him that there would be no consequences as long as he
kept it a secret. She also informed him that she will be giving birth to Aeneas.
Depending on the version you read, Aeneas was destined to become the leader of
the Trojan Dardanians. Before Aeneas was born. When Aeneas was born, Aphrodite
takes Aeneas to the nymphs of Mount Ida. She gets the nymphs to agree to raise
him for five years, then to take him to Anchises. In some versions, Anchises later
brags about making love to Aphrodite and gets struck by lightning from zeus,
causing Aeneas to have to carry him out of the flames of Troy. Aeneas was one of
the few survivors of the Trojan warand was protected and guided by a few of the
gods and goddesses. In most versions, Apollo and Aphrodite come to his aid in his
battle against the Diomedes of Argos who nearly

Application Of Distributed Application Challenges
Distributed Application Challenges In the past applications were monolithic, and
built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran on a single server. There is no
way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just think about the
software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of
architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application
tier, and persistence tier such as SQL or table logging. Multiple components may
spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies and these
component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a
certain DLL and another component for another one. Those two different versions...

If you have these two component on the same machine, you are not clear on what
kind of machine you will need because they will have very different scale
characteristics. It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even
though they have different scale characteristics. Developers also deal with test and
production to move throughout the development life cycle. Since developers are
increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with
complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS
construct that provide light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is
comprised of different sub concepts. There are namespaces that provide isolations
for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on
top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also
gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is
using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read
write view such a Union File system. These three make up the idea of a container. If
you build an application in the cloud, chances are it is a distributed application.
Distributed applications have a number of characteristics that need to be considered
carefully. Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software
looks the same everywhere you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to
The Effects Of Lithium Batteries On Medical Devices
Introduction
With the rise in the aging population, there has been an increase in demand for
implanted medical devices, such as pacemakers. Approximately, 70% to 80% of all
pacemakers are implanted in people 65 years old or over (Bradshaw, Stobie,
knuiman, Briffa, 2014). Lithium batteries have dominated as the main source of
energy for implantable medical devices. The limitations of lithium batteries have
become apparent. The batteries have a limited energy capacity; therefore, this limits
its use in smaller devices, which in terms reduces its lifetime. Due to the short
lifetime of these batteries, they must be replaced every so often (Rasouli Phee,
2010). The need to replace and recharge batteries leads to surgeries and discomfort for
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1998, Paradiso implemented this into the creation of a prototype shoe. The heel
of the shoe had a spring magnetic generator. Each time the person walked
approximately 1 watt was produced. The disadvantages were that the person had to
have the ability to walk and it caused discomfort. Additional adjustments were made
to the idea as the years progressed. In 2001, Paradiso placed the piezoelectric
elements on the heel and under the toes. Kornbluh placed them on the heel of both
shoes (Hannan et al., 2014). But, each one faced the issue of the patient needing the
ability to walk.
Electrostatic Energy
Electrostatic generators use electrostatic induction to produce electricity. It converts
mechanical vibrations into electricity by moving the transducer in against the
electrical field. The conversion occurs with either fixed charge or fixed voltage. This
method is adequate for micro implanted devices that use low power (Hannan et al.,
2014).
Magnetic Induction Generator
There are two types of magnetic induction generators. One based on relative motion
where the generator is fixed. Another, that uses body motion. In the second case, the
generator is installed with the inertia force of the weight. Hoska conducted an
investigation comparing the two types (Hnnan et al., 2014). He found that the second
less vulnerable to constant movements and more vulnerable to vibratory movements,
which can be explained due to the fact that the second type uses inertia.
Joining Band Essay
The Best Decision I ever made: Joining Band
Five years ago, I was introduced to the subject of band by my best friend and that
introduction sowed the seed to join. The next decision I faced was the important
choice of an instrument, which was not very hard for me. I chose the clarinet
because it was the only one that responded with a grateful sound. Without my
license and parents working late at night, I had to search for a ride since I assumed
my friend, who attended band on a different day, could take me. Getting up an hour
earlier than most students proved to be a struggle for me, but as time went on it
became less challenging. Joining band was and is more than a musical exercise for
me; it equates unity with harmony, personal growth with rhythm, and benefits with
melody on the larger playing field of life.
Harmony is defined as the combination of sounds to produce chords which can be
compared to the coming together first of my instrument and me and the two of us
with the band. My clarinet and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, band practice allows me the freedom to follow my own inclinations just
as much as I also have to follow the drum major. Reconciling the two is a matter of
rhythm because rhythm sets the pace, one that you set for yourself as well as one
that someone else sets for you. Participating in band requires a substantial time
investment and is rather demanding. Therefore, I had to learn to be organized and
to prioritize wisely to meet all the scheduling details ranging from school,
homework, my job, science Olympiad, band practice, friendships, and many more.
As a result of my interest and passion for this extracurricular activity, my time
management skills and self discipline have greatly improved. I am evermore in step
with the demands put upon me and those of my own choosing or so I
Negativity Is The Enemy Of Creativity
Negativity is the enemy of creativity David Lynch. Over the past few months of
being on my Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof
people on Instagram, I noticed that people in this generation are more critical of
other people than generations in years past. Two people in particular, who have
been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional
soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been
playing very well or getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures
and captions, or lack of captions, that they post on Instagram. You can tell that
people who follow them are very upset by the negative and dismissive comments on
their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become more
judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of
this is seen profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss
to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being
scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in the picture below, we see Alexis in
frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played throughout the game
(@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that
directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time
it was about how Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would
mope around like he didn t care or didn t wantto be there. Also, during that time the
comments were the same as they are now. It is also evident that he is frustrated
with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with the
picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he
was clearly too distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans
did not like the way he went about about the loss. The evidence in the comments
suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a baby or get out of Arsenal
because they don t want a playerwho won t throw a temper tantrum when they lost a
game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). I believe that these people have the right to
be upset but they
Barriers to Effective Pain Management
Barriers to Effective Pain Management
Introduction
Pain is a fundamental and inevitable form of human suffering, the experience which
is unique to every individual.
Nurses have a unique role in alleviating the pain experienced by their patients. With
their professional knowledge and regular close contacts with patients, they are ideally
placed to listen and respond to any concerns. Taking time to assess the individual will
allow for the development of a thrusting relationship between the nurse and patient.
Accurate assessment and documentation can help to chart the multi dimensional
nature of the pain, aiding decision making and patient care planning (Mcguie 1992).

However, it is imperative that the doctor carriers out a physical examination of the
patient on admission to identify the pathological causes of the patients pain. This is
an imperative part of pain management and is much needed to facilitate the planning
of care.
The more experienced the nurse is the more inclined they are to underestimate severe
pain. The less experienced nurse is more inclined to overestimate an individuals pain.
The doctor s lack of confidence and knowledge may result in him or her avoiding
discussions relating to analgesia and changing the drug or dose of the opoid,
irrespective of the nurse s belief that it for the best interest of the patient. Doctors
that are lacking in knowledge have a tendency to prescribe analgesia below the
therapeutic level of the pain and are often reluctant to act upon the nurse. This is a
serious issue that must be addressed as the nurse is often the person who knows the
most information about the patient as they provide a 24 hour round the clock care to
the patient.
It is clear that these poor practices arise from a number of inter related reasons.
However the lack of knowledge and effective team work seems to be the central
issue. In order to assure effective communication is brought to the clinical practice,
efforts to increase group learning and confidence of health care professions is much
needed. Role play may improve health care professional s
The Nature Of The Puritan
The Puritan Mind
The puritan mind is the motivation that led a group of people to take a chance to
find freedom of persecution in America to live their lives in the ways they believed
were correct in God s judgement and in themselves. However, in such a gamble
moving into an unknown world, they faced the beginning of a new society, atrocities,
and personal difficulties, which would make the humanistic mind question: Why
would God allow this to happen? One thing to understand is how the Puritan mind
works. As Perry Miller would explain, God and the spirit within are real for
Puritans. However, the challenge for a Puritan is to defend their faith in God and
overcome any doubt. In order to do this, Perry Miller would say, The search for
inward meaning relies upon the power of creative imagination. Without creative
imagination, how could one explain a death of a love one or catastrophic event
that left them in pain. Of course, another idea that is real to the Puritans, which at
times seems like an escape goat, is that there is fallibility in material existence and
infallibility in spiritual existence. Life on Earth is temporary and imperfect; the
goal is Heaven, eternal life. For the Puritan, the pleasures of the world weren t their
goal in life but to better improve themselves to reach eternal life. The motivation and
creative energy behind this idea is regeneration and piety. If a Puritan is going
through a hard time, it would be his or her job to interpret why is God

Relationship Between Inequality And Economic Growth
Introduction Since the establishment of the People s Republic of China in 1949 with
its government socialist ideology, planned economy during the economic reforms,
which started in 1978 and are still going on until nowadays, China has had continued
presence of inequality. In my work I overview the evolution of inequality that could
be divided into two historical periods: pre reform period (1949 1978) and the reform
period (1978 onwards). I also examine the correlation between inequality and
economic growth in China. Although, with the sustained economic development and
increase of living standards for the last three decades, China s uneven regional
development has been a serious phenomenon. During the time of triple transition that
includes decentralization, modernization and globalization the nature of regional
development and its inequality has been changed fundamentally. Inequality has
become the engine of progress; I argue that nowadays inequality in China is
unavoidable for future development. Pre reform period Geographically China is
divided into three parts: western, central and eastern (coastal) regions. Based on the
historical development, natural resources, and climate they have their own
distinctions. The new government considered development imbalance as an
important issue because of three significant factors. First, the interior labor market
was far away from coastal area. The second factor is the raw materials and energy
supply were far away from coastal
Comparing Lyra, Apollo s Metamorp To The Poet Orpheus
Lyra, Apollo s gift of a harp to the poet Orpheus. Lyra is one of the smallest, yet
beautiful and rich constellations in the heavens. Its mythology is rich and the
constellation assisted greatly in travel in the Northern Hemisphere. Vega, one of
the brightest star in the sky is also apart of Lyra. This constellation was first
discovered by the Egyptian Muggle Astronomer Ptolemy during the 2nd Century.
Ptolemy first interpreted Lyra as the Greek instrument of the lyre, as the outer stars
took the form of the frame, with the inner stars forming the strings. The tale
surrounding Orpheus was developed later after its discovery Creation Mythology
Apollo, God of Music gave the young Orpheus a golden lyre created in the forges
of Olympus, and taught the boy how to play it. Orpheus led a privileged life, being
the son of the Thracian King, allowing his skills on the instrument to flourish as he
grew older. Orpheus lyre music could charm even the dullest of life, and satisfied the
greatest rulers in the land. Orpheus eventually became a member of the Argonauts,
led by the famous hero Jason. While on their journey for the Golden Fleece, the
Argonauts encountered the islands of the infamous Sirens. These Sirens were known
to sing in such a way that would drag the sailors towards them, forcing them to crash
into the rocks were they resided. Orpheus sounded great music with his lyre,

Romanticism In The Devil And Tom Walker
William Shakespeare, one of the most prominent writers in the English language,
compared life with nature through his statement, And this, our life, exempt from
public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in the
stones, and good in everything. As Shakespeare brings forth a parallel between life
and the nature world, he uses romanticismcharacteristics to exemplifies his purpose.
This technique translates to The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington
Irving and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Romanticism characteristic are displayed within the previous tittles through awe of
nature, and interest in the common man. To begin, in the short story The Devil and
Tom Walker , awe of nature is used to convey both the mood and meaning of the
narrative. Irving creates a setting that is dark in spirt as Tom Walker makes his way
through the woods. In this excerpt, the reader can visualize Walker s surroundings
through the natural pessimistic atmosphere of the woods,
The swamp was thickly grown with great gloomy pines and hemlocks, some of
them ninety feet high; which made it dark at noonday, and a retreat for all the owls
of the neighborhood. It was full of pits and quagmires, partly covered with weeds
and mosses; where the green surface often betrayed the
Bakke 2 traveler into a gulf of black smothering mud; there were also dark and
stagnant pools, the abodes of the tadpole, the bull frog, and the water snake, and
where trunks of pines and hemlocks lay half drowned, half rotting, looking like
alligators, sleeping in the mire. (Irving 2)
In this passage, nature is portrayed as ominous and foreboding. There is a slight hint
of death within the abeyance of the forest. This is shown by the half drowned and
half rotting trees. This creates a complex connection between Walker and his
surroundings. The intertwine of corruption and immorality is shown through the vile
aspects of the various pants and animals that live within the woods. As Walker
trudges along, the ongoing wicked display of the forest pushes the reader s emotions
into an unsettling state. Intern, foreshadowing Walker s sinful decisions when he
encounters a forbidding force, the devil. Thus,
Guns By Sunday Night Live And The Daily Show
Gun violence is a serious issue in America; over 30,000 people are killed each year
with semi automatic weapons, and yet steps to make firearms less accessible to the
public have been slow moving through the nation s legislature. Many bills proposing
background checks for anyone purchasing a firearm have been blocked by Congress
in recent years, despite the fact that [America has] a pattern now of mass
shootings...that has no parallel anywhere else in the world (Chalabi). In two different
yet distinct videos, both Saturday Night Liveand The Daily Show use Horatian
satirical techniques such as understatement, burlesque, and repartee to draw attention
to the need for stronger guncontrol in the United States.
In both the skit Guns by Saturday Night Live as well as Good Guy With a Gun by
The Daily Show, understatement is used as a key tactic to draw attention the America
s unsafe and dangerously lax requirements for owning a firearm. In Guns, the
understatement highlights how Americans have grown used to seeing guns in their
everyday lives, conveying that since guns are there in the little moments, people
have grown blind to the danger inherent to to the presence of firearms (SNL). The
fact that assault weapons are so common in American life is clearly a strong
contributor to the nation s high gun violence rates, and Guns conveys this point
simply and clearly. Understatement is also used in Good Guy With a Gun, primarily
to display the logical fallacies behind the arguments

being in the top wings in the US list according to Men s Journal. They are heavily
interactive with their customers and the Memphis community. What s my budget?
The starting daily budget is $40.00, due to $1200.00 being the amount of money
we can afford to lose. The predicted cost per click is $3.00 and the aver profit per

my time frame? The preferred time frame would be during 11a 2p. This allows
everyone, especially college students to come across a Wing Guru ad while
searching for a place to enjoy lunch, especially located within miles of the campus.

My First Priority Segment And Open Sales Offices
Quarter 1 2 In quarter 1, the main goal is to name the company, choose the first
priority segment and open sales offices. I decided to select segment first, because
when the segment is confirmed, I can know the main feature of my company which
can help me use the feature to name my company and choose the location of sales
office. I chose Workhorse as my first priority segment, because this is the segment
which has the largest potential customers. What workhorse like most is easy to use,
I think which means the PC for workhorse needs to be smart, so I named my
company Smart . On the other hand, Shanghai has the largest workhorse customers,
so I located my first sales office in Shanghai. In quarter 2, along with the building of

Besides, I opened a new sales office in Chicago.
Quarter 3 In quarter 3, I got the performance report and brand judgement for my first
brand. According to the balanced scorecard, my total performance score is 38.836,
lower than the average score, among the financial performance, market performance
and marketing effectiveness, only the marketing effectiveness part is better than
the average. In quarter 2, although my market share is fairly good, occupied 48%
of the Workhorse market, nevertheless, it s nice to have the largest market share,
profit is more important than market share. Heartbreakingly, although my brand
profitability is 92,996, the profit from sales revenue is only 9%, what s worse, my
net profit is below zero. My main competitor in quarter 2 is Galileo Computers, so
I will compare and analyze the differences between my brand Juno and Galileo s
brand Callisto. The score in brand judgement part is 69, which below 70 and means
it should be discontinued. Although my score is bad, it s higher than Callisto, which
score is 58. The reason is Juno has more functions than Callisto like database and
standard networking. The price judgement part is fairly good, the score is 100, and
Callisto s score is also 100. I found Callisto s price is lower than Juno, but Juno s
Investigation Of Security Issues Of Wimax Networks
Investigation of Security Issues in WiMAX Networks
1.Introduction
Wired Systems are secure but being a wireless system, WiMAX has security
vulnerabilities [1]. Security is of utmost concern in the real world and WiMAX was
developed after the security failures were analyzed from IEEE 802.11 networks [2].
When the wireless network technology has a higher coverage area as high as in
WiMAX, security becomes one of the most important issues. WiMAX, both mobile
and fixed, has many attractive features such as connection oriented MAC layer,
provision of the QoS for different applications, efficient mobility, and power saving
features. Needless to say, all these attractive features must be protected against
malicious activities by security mechanisms.
The lowest layer i.e. PHY layer, is open to PHY layer attacks such as jamming and
rushing. Jamming is done by introducing a source of strong noise to significantly
lower the capacity of the channel, therefore, denying services to all stations.
However, jamming is detectable with radio analyzer devices [3]. Rushing or
scrambling is another type of jamming, but it takes place for a short interval of
time aimed at particular frames. The PHY layer is not protected from being
interfered or even catastrophic failures. So, it is essential to include technologies to
secure PHY layer and higher layers for a converged routable network and devices
within the system and thus follow a cross layer approach.

Discovery Essay on Away Michael Gow
To discover is to gain sight or knowledge of something. How have ideas about
discovery been shown in Away and The Book Thief Discovery allows main
characters to gain sight or knowledge into themselves and others. This is evident in
Michael Gow s Away, as seen through the characters of Gwen, Coral and Tom. The
three gainsight and knowledge into their lives through the different perceptions and
ideas of discovery. Similarly, in The Book Thief, Liesel gains sight and knowledge
into the world around her, with the help of books which allow her to become
educated about the immoral acts that are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of Gwen s upbringing in the depression, she consequently places a false
value upon materialistic goods. At the night of the play, Gwen asks Meg Why did
you have to do Shakespeare for? We couldn t see a blessed thing . Through her
dialogue in relation to the Shakespearean allusion, this displays that Gwen resists the
emotional depth that Shakespeare represents, and that she is metaphorically blind.
Once Gwen discovers the knowledge about Tom s condition, she gains sight, and is
no longer metaphorically blind to reality. Through her sight, she realizes that family
is more important than placing a false value on materialistic goods. This idea of
discovery has been explored through relationships and events which significantly
impacted on her new found knowledge and sight.
Tom, the agent for change gains sight and knowledge into the acceptance of his
impending death. The opening of the play starts with the ending of A Midsummer
Night s Dream where Tom as Puck says Gentles, do not reprehend. If you pardon,
we will mend. This foreshadows Tom s healing role in the play. Although Tom seems
to be the character in the least need of a discovery, he still gains sight into the reality
of his condition and knowledge that he needs to accept this. This is evident through
reading King Lear. The scene is set outside, as instructed by
Film And Its Development Of Storytelling On The Cinema
Screen
Film History Essay How important a contribution does the script make to any
given film? This essay will look into the history of film and its development of
storytelling on the cinema screen. Including how a script is important towards the
final outcome of the film and the many technical practises that make film
narratives ever growing. A script is the very soul of a film, without it there is no
story or relatable characters that have meaning or purpose. When an audience visit
the cinema they expect a beginning, middle and end. Sometimes a story can be
strong they effect a person s emotions and have huge impacts on society and also
cinema in a whole. But it all starts with a writer, a person who inhabits the very
personality of each character they create and share with us. Stories can be told in
many different ways, through fictional characters like a Disney Princess who is
awaiting her true love , or they can be a real person like Solomon Northup who
spent 12 years as a slave when really he was a free man. But with each story there is
a meaning behind these characters. The film Rocky is a superb example. It s the
story of a young boxer who is trying to make something of himself because of what
he loves, and in return finds love in a woman who gives him the very purpose to
fight. He wants to be the best at what he does. And Rocky Balboa never has the
happy ending, he lost friends and people he loved on the way to greatness and had to
become a father and teach his son the
Essay On Chile And Globalization
Many countries have struggled to adapt to the changes that accompany globalization.
Some countries have succeeded where others have failed, but the transitions have
been bumpy for all the countries that have attempted to engage the global market.
One example is Chile. As explained by Milton Friedman in Episode Two of
Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy, Chile ...was the first case
in which you had a movement toward communism which was replaced by a
movement toward the free markets. Chile has been a success story, and an example
for other countries, but that doesn t mean that it hasn t faced setbacks along the way.
Chile s transition towards globalizationbegan with the 1973 military coup led by
Pinochet. This was a tumultuous period fraught with numerous violations of human
rights and without a clear economic plan in place. Milton Friedman was brought in
to advise Pinochet s government on how to turn around Chile s failing economy.
This was important to Chile s future because Friedman believed in a direct
connection between economic and political freedom. In 1975 an economic plan was
put into place. According to JosГ©... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The GDP declined, the economy slowed, and the Chilean people were unhappy
because the government had implemented ineffective social and economic policies.
There was social inequality stemming from the unequal distribution of income, and
the government s policies were doing nothing to help the situation. The education
system only furthered the social inequality. Education in Chile is expensive, and,
according to Progress and Its Discontent, the fees have been ...rising by 3 4% a year
in real terms in the past 15 years... (3). As became the case in many countries,
students in Chile would graduate with large amounts of debt that they couldn t pay
off based on their salaries and earning potential. This led to massive student protests

American Public And Securing The National Interest Of
The...
Title
Dhwani Patel
Word count:
Being the president who set out to escape the norms in achieving my goals for the
American public and securing the national interests, I have persevered and illustrated
periods of triumphs and have endured times of oppositions. Nonetheless, there have
been improvements and disagreements throughout my time in the office. Over the
course of these previous eight years, America has observed persistence in job
increases, greater transparency, formidable economic growth, and an increase in
jobs in the auto industry (Jackson). In a matter of time, I will be stepping out of the
office and handing over my position to president elect Donald TrumpI hope to have
made a difference in the lives of the American public during my time in the office.
The greatest achievement that I have been able to accomplish in terms of securing
the material national interest of the United States has been the agreement of the Trans
Pacific Partnership. This trade agreement amongst twelve member states (United
States, Canada, Chile, Peru, Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam,
Malaysia, and Japan) was adopted to strengthen the economic ties for a more
interconnected global economy. For the average working American it shows great
promise to increase their income and for the nation as a whole. It also possesses the
potential to allow for the growth of the nation s GDP and annual exports, thereby
increasing the living standard.
Democracy and Government
Democracy is defined as the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a
system of government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected
representatives or directly by the people themselves. So by the very definition, these
governments are enlisted to advocate for the interest of its citizens regardless of
gender, race or age. All democracies are governmentby a specific document which
outline the method in which they are run and what rights they protect. A common
facet in all these documents is a clause that states that the government runs solely on
the will of the people, wand when will differs, the majority will prevail. However the
purpose of democracyis that it allows the ideals of minorities to be expressed. This
balanced system allows for all to have a voice. Unfortunately many times Lobbyists
and political parties can generalize the will of the people, serving industries more
than citizens. However this is often checked up on, and with recent emergence of
third parties, the voice of people can be heard.
Democracies are set to address the issues which adolescents believe are important,
and many have infrastructure to deal with adolescent issues. One of the popular
examples of this is the United States We the People online petitions, an interactive
way that allows the White House keep a pulse on important issues. Any petition that
is signed by more than one hundred thousand people, will be officially and publicly
addressed by the
School Board Is Not Fair Essay
Imagine a city where authorities make all the decisions, without the citizen s consent?
Would you consider living in that city? No, not really. Now, imagine that with
schools boards and students. School boards shouldn t pick students schedules
because the school board need to be fair, the students are responsible for their own
schedules, and the students will have mix responses.
The school board needs to be fair, even though they decided the outcome. This means
that the school board should not be acting like dictators, when it comes to the school
based arrangements. It isn t fair that what a school board decides on actually hurts the
student s education. Especially when, they turn a blind eye towards the students,
because they don t want to accept the idea that what they present aren t always going
to work. Also, in order for them to really get confirmation that their new ruling is
working, the school board should really ask the students on what they think about this
new change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The students will have to live with their own schedules for a whole year. Being in
classes that you don t like, will harm your learning experience. School board members
would love to think of themselves as people whom know it all. They love the
comforting idea that they know their students better than the students themselves.
The school board doesn t know on what every, single, student in that class likes or
dislikes. A statistic showing that one student is bad at math and good in english does
not show on what that student actually likes. What if that student actually loves math,
but it just too dumb to understand it? Exactly. Just because the school board spends
8+ hours with the students, that does not mean they know the students in and out.
Equally important, the parents pay for their children s tuition. Guess who pays the
school board and everyone else in authority? The parents. So, by that way, the parents
should at least have a
The Geography Of Colombia

West, Colombia has some of the most beautiful beaches. On the North side is the
Caribbean Sea and the West Pacific Ocean. Although, we know it as Colombia its
original name is Republica de Colombia (Kline, Harvey). You may think, that is a
Spanish name, well you are correct. Colombiais named after nun other than
Christopher Columbus. Colombia is a originally a colony of Spain, therefore, taking
all of the Spanish language, religion, and cultures (Kline, Harvey). Although, it is

Aid For Developing Countries Improve Economic Growth
Introduction
For centuries wealthy countries have been giving away billions of dollars to help
developing countries improve their economic situation. We have found out aid given
to these countries in economic need have caused positive and negative affects
towards the government. The basic reasons of giving aid are to help developing
countries stimulate economic growth or directly give resources to meet people s
basic needs. The question is whether this aid is helping the developing country s
government or hurting it and by how much? Aid given to these countries can include
donations, projects and technical assistance. Wealthy countries give aid to
developing countries to promote their own governments internationally and fulfill
their economical and political agendas. Throughout history many people have not
been accountable for the effects of the aid and just made sure that the aid was
there. Also countries that have been giving aid to a particular country for a period
of time tend to pull out the aid because different interests arising in the donating
country. This cripples the aid receiving country s economy because the aid was
holding the economy together is gone and they have to start building all over. This
dependence on aid leaves the country in economic ruins when the aid disappears.
Now that we have a background on aid we can see why the knowing the effect aid
has on governments is so important.
Determining whether or not aid is beneficial to governments is crucial

For instance, the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics were able to turn a profit. The Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC), had to make last minute extensions to security measures in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The security force for the games consisted of 12,000 people. Regardless of this unexpected last minute expense of $500 million USD, the U.S. was able to profit by $101 million USD from the games. This is in part due to the fact that only three out of the fifteen venues used for the games were not already built. This means that the SLOC was able to cut down on their overall costs. The games were broadcast to over 2.1 billion television viewers in 160 nations worldwide. The attendance averaged 70,000 people each day at the fifteen venues as 1.5 million tickets were sold. Each of the fifteen venues used in the games are still in use today. These statistics show that the SLOC was very successful in their approach. Since a lot of capital was invested in security, people were able to feel safe at the games and as a result, ticket sales met expected targets in spite of the September 11 attacks. In another example, China was able to make unprecedented revenues from their 2008 Olympic Games held in Beijing. Their Olympic games cost a never before seen total of 19 billion Chinese yuan, which was the equivalent to $44 billion

John Bowlby was a psychoanalyst and believed that mental health and behavioural problems could be linked to early childhood. Bowlby suggested that a child would initially form only one primary attachment (monotropy) and that the attachment figure acted as a secure base for exploring the world. The attachment relationship acts as a model for all future social relationships so disrupting it can have severe consequences. This theory also suggests that there is a significant phase for developing an attachment (about 0 5 years). If an attachment has not developed throughout this period then the child will experience from irreversible developmental consequences, such as lack of intelligence and enhanced aggression. Bowlby also explains in his theory Deprivation and Privation. Deprivation means the temporary prolonged and permanent separation of a child from its attachment figure. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum. The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that the more effeminate a male character acts, the more open and

Though the method employed to convert Brutus is quite unprincipled, it shows, no doubt, the skill of a practical man to achieve his objective by hook or by crook. Hence, it can be counted as a plus point in his character. Brutus patriotism and self love impede him from seeing the deep chasm to which he is pushed by artful manipulation. This was the beginning of a new chain restaurant called LongHorn Steakhouse, which is known for their Flo s Filet and the Bone In Outlaw, fall of the bone ribs, and hand cut salmon. In later years, LongHorn eventually joined Darden Restaurants with Olive Garden and Red Lobster. With a location in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it is one of many steakhouses that you can choose from. It is a well organized restaurant that has been serving steak, chicken, and fish for 30 years where the meat is never frozen. In addition to that, it is the only steakhouse that catches the eyes of the customer, usually from the dark red lights that light up during the night. The restaurant is opened Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Friday to Saturday 11:00 to 11:00 PM. As we walk through the double doors of the entrance, we are warmly greeted right away by the LongHorn Staff, who are dressed in black tops and blue jeans. We had dinner at Longhorn after discovering a 30 minute wait at our first restaurant choice. The wait at Longhorn was only about 15 minutes, which was not bad for a

• 25. Aeneas As A Trojan Hero In Greco-Roman Mythology Aeneas was a Trojan hero in Greco Roman mythology. He was the son of Aphrodite and the prince Anchises. He is also believed to be a descendant of Remus and Romulus in Roman Mythology. His story starts when Zeus wanted to take revenge on Aphrodite for making all the gods fall in love with mortal women. As a punishment, Zeus made her fall in love with Anchises. In some versions of the story Aphrodite stumbles upon Anchises while traveling or appears before him. Whichever version it is, Anchises is smitten by Aphrodite s beauty. After sleeping together, Aphrodite reveals her true form to him. Anchises feared the consequences for what he did. Aphrodite assures him that there would be no consequences as long as he kept it a secret. She also informed him that she will be giving birth to Aeneas. Depending on the version you read, Aeneas was destined to become the leader of the Trojan Dardanians. Before Aeneas was born. When Aeneas was born, Aphrodite takes Aeneas to the nymphs of Mount Ida. She gets the nymphs to agree to raise him for five years, then to take him to Anchises. In some versions, Anchises later brags about making love to Aphrodite and gets struck by lightning from zeus, causing Aeneas to have to carry him out of the flames of Troy. Aeneas was one of the few survivors of the Trojan warand was protected and guided by a few of the gods and goddesses. In most versions, Apollo and Aphrodite come to his aid in his battle against the Diomedes of Argos who nearly

Application Of Distributed Application Challenges Distributed Application Challenges In the past applications were monolithic, and built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran on a single server. There is no way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just think about the software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application tier, and persistence tier such as SQL or table logging. Multiple components may spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies and these component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a certain DLL and another component for another one. Those two different versions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you have these two component on the same machine, you are not clear on what kind of machine you will need because they will have very different scale characteristics. It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even though they have different scale characteristics. Developers also deal with test and production to move throughout the development life cycle. Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There are namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such a Union File system. These three make up the idea of a container. If you build an application in the cloud, chances are it is a distributed application. Distributed applications have a number of characteristics that need to be considered carefully. Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software looks the same everywhere you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to

Approximately, 70% to 80% of all pacemakers are implanted in people 65 years old or over (Bradshaw, Stobie, knuiman, Briffa, 2014). Lithium batteries have dominated as the main source of energy for implantable medical devices. The limitations of lithium batteries have become apparent. The batteries have a limited energy capacity; therefore, this limits its use in smaller devices, which in terms reduces its lifetime. Due to the short lifetime of these batteries, they must be replaced every so often (Rasouli Phee, 2010). The need to replace and recharge batteries leads to surgeries and discomfort for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1998, Paradiso implemented this into the creation of a prototype shoe. The heel of the shoe had a spring magnetic generator. Each time the person walked approximately 1 watt was produced. The disadvantages were that the person had to have the ability to walk and it caused discomfort. Additional adjustments were made to the idea as the years progressed. In 2001, Paradiso placed the piezoelectric elements on the heel and under the toes. Kornbluh placed them on the heel of both shoes (Hannan et al., 2014). But, each one faced the issue of the patient needing the ability to walk. Electrostatic Energy Electrostatic generators use electrostatic induction to produce electricity. It converts mechanical vibrations into electricity by moving the transducer in against the electrical field. The conversion occurs with either fixed charge or fixed voltage. This method is adequate for micro implanted devices that use low power (Hannan et al., 2014). Magnetic Induction Generator There are two types of magnetic induction generators. One based on relative motion where the generator is fixed. Another, that uses body motion. In the second case, the generator is installed with the inertia force of the weight. Hoska conducted an investigation comparing the two types (Hnnan et al., 2014). He found that the second less vulnerable to constant movements and more vulnerable to vibratory movements, which can be explained due to the fact that the second type uses inertia.

The next decision I faced was the important choice of an instrument, which was not very hard for me. I chose the clarinet because it was the only one that responded with a grateful sound. Over the past few months of being on my Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof people on Instagram, I noticed that people in this generation are more critical of other people than generations in years past. Two people in particular, who have been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been playing very well or getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures and captions, or lack of captions, that they post on Instagram. You can tell that people who follow them are very upset by the negative and dismissive comments on their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become more judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of this is seen profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in the picture below, we see Alexis in frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played throughout the game (@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time it was about how Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would mope around like he didn t care or didn t wantto be there. Also, during that time the comments were the same as they are now. It is also evident that he is frustrated with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with the picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he was clearly too distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans did not like the way he went about about the loss. The evidence in the comments suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a baby or get out of Arsenal because they don t want a playerwho won t throw a temper tantrum when they lost a game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). I believe that these people have the right to be upset but they

Taking time to assess the individual will allow for the development of a thrusting relationship between the nurse and patient. However, it is imperative that the doctor carriers out a physical examination of the patient on admission to identify the pathological causes of the patients pain. This is an imperative part of pain management and is much needed to facilitate the planning of care. The more experienced the nurse is the more inclined they are to underestimate severe pain. The less experienced nurse is more inclined to overestimate an individuals pain. The doctor s lack of confidence and knowledge may result in him or her avoiding discussions relating to analgesia and changing the drug or dose of the opoid, irrespective of the nurse s belief that it for the best interest of the patient. Doctors that are lacking in knowledge have a tendency to prescribe analgesia below the therapeutic level of the pain and are often reluctant to act upon the nurse. This is a serious issue that must be addressed as the nurse is often the person who knows the most information about the patient as they provide a 24 hour round the clock care to the patient. It is clear that these poor practices arise from a number of inter related reasons. However the lack of knowledge and effective team work seems to be the central issue. In order to assure effective communication is brought to the clinical practice, efforts to increase group learning and confidence of health care professions is much needed. The Nature Of The Puritan The Puritan Mind The puritan mind is the motivation that led a group of people to take a chance to find freedom of persecution in America to live their lives in the ways they believed were correct in God s judgement and in themselves. However, in such a gamble moving into an unknown world, they faced the beginning of a new society, atrocities, and personal difficulties, which would make the humanistic mind question: Why would God allow this to happen? One thing to understand is how the Puritan mind works. As Perry Miller would explain, God and the spirit within are real for Puritans. However, the challenge for a Puritan is to defend their faith in God and overcome any doubt. In order to do this, Perry Miller would say, The search for inward meaning relies upon the power of creative imagination. Without creative imagination, how could one explain a death of a love one or catastrophic event that left them in pain. Of course, another idea that is real to the Puritans, which at times seems like an escape goat, is that there is fallibility in material existence and infallibility in spiritual existence. Life on Earth is temporary and imperfect; the goal is Heaven, eternal life. For the Puritan, the pleasures of the world weren t their goal in life but to better improve themselves to reach eternal life. The motivation and creative energy behind this idea is regeneration and piety. If a Puritan is going through a hard time, it would be his or her job to interpret why is God

In my work I overview the evolution of inequality that could be divided into two historical periods: pre reform period (1949 1978) and the reform period (1978 onwards). I also examine the correlation between inequality and economic growth in China. Although, with the sustained economic development and increase of living standards for the last three decades, China s uneven regional development has been a serious phenomenon. During the time of triple transition that includes decentralization, modernization and globalization the nature of regional development and its inequality has been changed fundamentally. Inequality has become the engine of progress; I argue that nowadays inequality in China is unavoidable for future development. Pre reform period Geographically China is divided into three parts: western, central and eastern (coastal) regions. Based on the historical development, natural resources, and climate they have their own distinctions. The new government considered development imbalance as an important issue because of three significant factors. First, the interior labor market was far away from coastal area. The second factor is the raw materials and energy supply were far away from coastal

Romanticism In The Devil And Tom Walker William Shakespeare, one of the most prominent writers in the English language, compared life with nature through his statement, And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in the stones, and good in everything. As Shakespeare brings forth a parallel between life and the nature world, he uses romanticismcharacteristics to exemplifies his purpose. This technique translates to The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Romanticism characteristic are displayed within the previous tittles through awe of nature, and interest in the common man. To begin, in the short story The Devil and Tom Walker , awe of nature is used to convey both the mood and meaning of the narrative. Irving creates a setting that is dark in spirt as Tom Walker makes his way through the woods. In this excerpt, the reader can visualize Walker s surroundings through the natural pessimistic atmosphere of the woods, The swamp was thickly grown with great gloomy pines and hemlocks, some of them ninety feet high; which made it dark at noonday, and a retreat for all the owls of the neighborhood. It was full of pits and quagmires, partly covered with weeds and mosses; where the green surface often betrayed the Bakke 2 traveler into a gulf of black smothering mud; there were also dark and stagnant pools, the abodes of the tadpole, the bull frog, and the water snake, and where trunks of pines and hemlocks lay half drowned, half rotting, looking like alligators, sleeping in the mire. (Irving 2) In this passage, nature is portrayed as ominous and foreboding. There is a slight hint of death within the abeyance of the forest. This is shown by the half drowned and half rotting trees. This creates a complex connection between Walker and his surroundings. The intertwine of corruption and immorality is shown through the vile aspects of the various pants and animals that live within the woods. As Walker trudges along, the ongoing wicked display of the forest pushes the reader s emotions into an unsettling state. Investigation Of Security Issues Of Wimax Networks Investigation of Security Issues in WiMAX Networks 1.Introduction Wired Systems are secure but being a wireless system, WiMAX has security vulnerabilities [1]. Security is of utmost concern in the real world and WiMAX was developed after the security failures were analyzed from IEEE 802.11 networks [2]. When the wireless network technology has a higher coverage area as high as in WiMAX, security becomes one of the most important issues. WiMAX, both mobile and fixed, has many attractive features such as connection oriented MAC layer, provision of the QoS for different applications, efficient mobility, and power saving features. Needless to say, all these attractive features must be protected against malicious activities by security mechanisms. The lowest layer i.e. PHY layer, is open to PHY layer attacks such as jamming and rushing. Jamming is done by introducing a source of strong noise to significantly lower the capacity of the channel, therefore, denying services to all stations. However, jamming is detectable with radio analyzer devices [3]. Rushing or scrambling is another type of jamming, but it takes place for a short interval of time aimed at particular frames. The PHY layer is not protected from being interfered or even catastrophic failures. So, it is essential to include technologies to secure PHY layer and higher layers for a converged routable network and devices within the system and thus follow a cross layer approach. 2.Survey of Relevant

This trade agreement amongst twelve member states (United States, Canada, Chile, Peru, Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Japan) was adopted to strengthen the economic ties for a more interconnected global economy.
