Adler s Theory Of Personality
First of all, Adler s theory believes that personality is formed during the first five years of life
(Adler, A.,1927). By this age a child develops his/her style of life, and it is critical in his/her
personality development. The narrator experiences neglect during these periods: And after
some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number
One. I showed my masterpiece to the grown ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened
them. But they answered: Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat? My drawing
was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the
grown ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa
constrictor, so that the grown ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things
explained. The grown ups response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa
constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside, and devote myself instead to geography,
history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been
a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number
One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is
tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them (de Saint ExupГ©ry, A.,
1999). According to Adler s theory, neglect is critical in a child s

Theme Of Death In The Giver
The Journey Have you ever wondered where you will go when you die? The School by Donald
Barthelme and The Giver by Louis Lowry explore death as a common theme throughout the short
story and the novel. The School is a short story told from the perspective of a teacher at what
seems to be an elementary or middle school. The story, consisting of a mere 1200 words, follows
the numerous tragedies the school faces over roughly a month long timespan. The Giveris a novel
about a dystopian society and is told from the perspective of a young boy named Jonas. The story
follows Jonas journey in becoming the Receiver of Memory at age twelve, which is the normal
age to be assigned a career in this society, and how he learns the truth about the world that he lives
in. In The School, death is a very obvious theme. Barthelme uses death as the central theme and
portrays it in a very humorous way. Whereas in The Giver, death, in terms of it being a theme, is
very subtle and serious. This is shown in numerous ways throughout each story. Though death is
treated differently in both The Giver and The School, and the message behind each work is
different, the dystopian aspect connects the stories by exemplifying the lack of emotion and
dehumanization of the characters in each story. In The School, death is the central theme of the
story and is treated as something light and humorous, with the exception of a couple tone switches
throughout the story. Barthelme uses escalation and a perpetually

Pet dogs as promoters of wellbeing
How do you feel about dogs? Do you like them and every time you see them do you want to run
and hug them or do you just avoid them in general? Do they make you smile with their floppy
ears and how just clumsy they are when they run. We all have different reasons for loving dogs or
just despising them. In this entry you will learn that owning a dog can help you. It can potentially
keep you healthy and lower risks from heart diseases and many other things.
Throughout the article that I have read the author, White seems to be creditable to talk about the
topic. She adds a lot of facts and give description about how the it changes lives. When she begins
she jumps right into the point. She adds When the World Health Organizationpublished its policy
framework for healthy ageing. The importance of enabling people to live independent and active
lives as long as possible were prominent objectives with physical activity and engagement in all
aspects of society as key components of healthy ageing. She then goes to give details that it helps
with your daily activity owning a dog. It says that people that own dogs get more daily activity
than non dog owners. White gives us reason and reason to believe that she knows what she is
talking about and it also compassionate about the facts that she gives us. When White talks about
the older people and how the dogs can improve their live. You can tell that she is compassionate
about the topic that

Zora Neale Hurston and The Harlem Renaissance
One of the greatest writers of our time, says Toni Morrison referring to Harlem Renaissance writer
Zora Neale Hurston (Anna Lillios, 2014).. Zora Neale Hurston, one of the most famous writers of
this era left a legacy through her pieces of writing during the Harlem Renaissance by celebrating
black culture in her pieces. Her writing was known to be very original and artistic. Zora Neale
Hurston was bold with her ideas for writing. Her writing wasn t limited by conventional
expectations. Hurston was confident and courageous in her writing leading others to be inspired by

First, The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement throughout the 1920 s and 1930 s. The
purpose of the Harlem Renaissance was that it created a new black cultural identity (Beth
Rowen and Borgna Bower 2007).Next, this era was a time for people to find their identity in
music, writing, plays, and much more. This was also a way for African Americans to find their
identity as individuals. This is where the African American authors came to get their names
known. The purpose of the Harlem Renaissance was to help the African American culture find
their identity as an individual instead of being labeled by other people s opinions ( Rowen and
Borgna , 2007 ). Because of all of the opportunities that Harlem presented, Zora Neale Hurston
was able to leave a legacy during this era . Between 1920 and 1930: 750, 000 African Americans

Vladimir Putin And President Putin
President Vladimir Putin, current president of Russia, is currently serving his second term. His
first presidential term was from 2000 2008. He previously served as Prime Minister of Russia
from 1999 2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial
reputation, not just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President
Putin is often criticized for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world
leaders. To some, he is considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is
fairly popular, having high and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz,
Bill. Putin Corruption Network Revealed ). Many Russian experts have believed Putin has
abused his power in trying to improve the Russian economy. He has been suspected to have
collected a fortune worth at least an estimated $28 billion from projects like construction during
the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics games. He has also been suspected of holdings in Russian real
estate and energy conglomerates, and kickbacks from deals with associates going all the way
back to the late 1990s (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network Revealed ). It is obvious that Sochi
was more than just a sporting event to Putin and the Kremlin, but it was a blend of politics and
performance. Putin desired to show the world that it was open, but what he was trying to show was
unclear.

Skellig Essay Questions
Skellig Essay
Analyse the themes of imagination, belief and disbelief in the novel.
Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature
of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing
on and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my
essay. Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book,
making a statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s
imagination.
Imagination takes its hold in the reader s brain from page one, and continues to keep the readers
mind on edge all the way through to the very last page. A true... Show more content on

Detection And Prevention System For Cloud Infrastructure
Abstract In this era of technology when everything is available at just one click; Security is a big
issue. Hackers and intruders are getting smarter. There are various methods to protect the network
infrastructure as well as communication over the internet, for example firewalls, encryption, and
virtual private networks. Intrusion detectionis a comparatively new approach to such techniques. By
using intrusion detection, we can collect and use information from acknowledged attacks and
figure out if somebody is trying to attack the network/host. In this paper, we have classified
different types of IDS. Also we have proposed a hybrid model for intrusion detection and prevention
system for cloud infrastructure, which has improved the quality of detecting the unidentified attack
via anomaly based detection along with a module which will try to diminish the number of false
alarms which are generated by the system. Our proposed system finds random attacks in network
and prevents these attacks automatically using the mechanism.
Keywords Intrusion detection system, Security, K learning algorithm, Snort tool, Prevention,

Hooke Vs Newton
Isaac Newton struggled with receiving the proper credit for his scientific discoveries, and was
often overlooked during his time. His biggest rival was Robert Hooke, a president of the Royal
Society and renowned scientist. On occasion, Newton would disagree with Hooke s previously
published ideas, for example, Newton s claim that light was a particle. This is an example of the
beginning of their rivalry. There were many cases throughout their time where Hooke would accuse
Newton of publishing his ideas. An extreme example of this was when Hooke publically humiliated
Newton, causing Newton to go into hiding for many years to avoid the embarrassment. Eventually,
through the help of other scientists such as Halley, Newton slowly gained more credit

Mark Twain s Ideas of Racism in Huckleberry Finn and Pudd nhead Wilson Mark Twain had
written two very similar novels that are based on the ideas of racism, or prejudice against certain
races,(in this case, Afro American during his lifetime. These two novels, Huckleberry Finn and
Pudd nhead Wilson, depict a very satirical yet realistic view of the way society behaves and how
people in general live and grow in different social systems or positions. Huck Finn depicts a
strong basis on racism and society, where as Pudd nhead Wilson illustrates how slavery and racism
are portrayed in his society.

These social injustices are even more evident when Huck and Jim have to make landfall, and this
provides Twain with the chance to satirize the socially correct injustices that Huck and Jim
encounter on land. The satire that Twain uses to expose the racism and injustice of society develops
along with the adventures that Huck and Jim have.
Throughout the book we see the hypocrisy of society. The first character we come across with
that trait is Miss Watson. Miss Watson constantly corrects Huck for his unacceptable behavior,
but Huck doesn t understand why, That is just the way with some people. They get down on a
thing when they don t know nothing about it . Later when Miss Watson tries to teach Huck
about Heaven, he decides against trying to go there, ...she was going to live so as to go the
good place. Well, I couldn t see no advantage in going where she was going, so I made up my
mind I wouldn t try for it. The comments made by Huck clearly show Miss Watson as a
hypocrite, scolding Huck for wanting to smoke and then using snuff herself and firmly believing
that she would be in heaven. This example finds Huck again running to freedom of the river. The
river never cares how saintly you are, how rich you are, or what society thinks you are. The river
allows Huck the one thing that Huck wants to be, and that is Huck. The river is freedom than the
land is oppression, and that oppression is no more evident than it is to Jim. It can be considered
that the river

The ancient roman festivals or saturnalia and bacchanalia are a probable origin of Italian carnival.
These festivals are based off many things such as Greek Dionysia and other oriental festivals.
During the middle ages, the word carnevale became associated with the lent season. The church
failed after attempting many times to eradicate the festival completely but soon gave in and
assimilated Carnevale into the Christian calendar as the last festival before lent, which it

The Revolutionary Coffee Company, And The Variables That...
Section One Background
The Keurig case study is an interesting examination of the revolutionary coffee company, and the
variables that will shape the future of the company and industry. The basis of the Keurig case study
is the transition for niche product aiming for the mainstream success of everyday use by consumers
in their homes, to one of the industry leaders among the coffee industry giants. Keurig had been
founded to commercialize an innovative technology that allowed coffee lovers to brew one
perfect cup of coffee at a time (Hitt, Hoskisson, Ireland, 2016, p.C 87). Hence, the attempt to
create a new segment within the coffee industry would take time, and education efforts to promote
and sell the benefits of the new coffee makers. After 11 years of trying to perfect the desired
product the company believed could change the industry, Keurig was able to develop the K cup.
The K cup brand was built of the idea of the consumer being able to brew a single cup of coffee at
the perfect temperature and superior tasting at the convenience of their home (Hitt, Hoskisson,
Ireland, 2016, p.C 87). As a result, this new product began to set the market on fire because the new
features were never available for customers, which in turn created the issue of competition. Patents
are key to protecting the intellectual property that generates the sources of knowledge, technology,
and designs used by companies such as Keurig to obtain and maintain an advantage within the

On Genetically Modified Crops Nowadays, most people assumed that the genetically modified
(GM) technology is the greatest biotechnologies in agriculture. However, people are unawareness
about the effect of genetically modified GM crops for the health, the environment, the society, the
food safety, and the food security. There are many methods have been proposed to separates the
genetically modified GM crops from non GM crops by using the distance between the crops.
However, the value of cross pollination can be affected in many different factors such as the
insects and the air which are natural elements. Furthermore, to solve these problems, this study
suggests a hybrid method (FPSOSVR) that contains particle swarm optimization, fuzzy logic, and
the support vector regression, for knowing the cross pollination value of pollen recipient from the
pollen source to shows the real solation of genetically modified GM and non GM maize. (Lee et

which are based on the positions by the public, non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), and

Jane is a strong emotional character who we experience in first person narrative. In Jane s early

Comparing Emerson And Thoreau, By Ralph Waldo Emerson
There was a time when looking for knowledge we searched the streets and we searched the skies.
We did not search in our pockets for our phones. Now, the streets are empty and the skies bear
nothing we can see. No one is looking up at the sky, they are looking down searching through
their phone s for the answers untold. Our phones, these wondrous pieces of technology are taking
grasp of our minds, dulling our thoughts and our senses.Yet, if we just took the time to look up at
the sky once in awhile, we would see the knowledge it holds. The only thing that can tilt our heads
upward is nature. Nature is so beautiful and holds so many answers. This is what Ralph Waldo
Emersonwas trying to tell us. This is why with the help of Emerson and his alike... Show more

We stacked it so high we can no longer see what s important. Emerson made a valid point in The
American Scholar, in which he said, In this view of him, as Man Thinking, the theory of his
office is contained. These bright minds have been so constricted by their duties they become
stuck and cannot reach past the bars of society. We no longer fight the towers as they have
become the only thing we know, and so Most persons do not see the sun. At least they have a
very superficial seeing (Emerson, Nature, Chapter 1). This means that the towers, of technology,
have become so high that we can no longer see the sun, and now we only have a past memory of
what we think it looks like. If we just took Emerson and Thoreau s words into consideration we
would see that they are telling us something important. They are telling us how to tear down those
towers and see the sun once more, to see the purpose. One might object here that they are just
words on a paper and they can not help us, and they themselves have an unhealthy mind but went
about prescribing medicine to others (Donovan Hohn, New Republic). However, it would seem
they had an idea of what they were talking about. To just say that since one is stuck they can not
help another with the same issue is unfactory. They create a safe haven where people can retreat to,
to search for a better way when they cannot find it themselves. It is not always true

Having much success with these students, I was asked to stay to continue working with ESL

Symbolism In Revelations
... In the days of their prophecy: [they will] have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (Rev. 11:6). This connection between blood
and the beginning of the plague are a key theme throughout Revelations, and have continued in
modern literature through zombieism and AIDS. Although the End is usually spoken about within
the idea of naturalistic destruction on Earth, the End may be more humanthan that and come
unexpectedly from humanity itself: They are frightening for the very reason that they do not look
like our enemies at all... they look disturbingly like our co workers, neighbours, friends and

Otherness within zombieism can be represented through the Haitian zombie; the zombie symbol of
otherness, of blackness , of the savage in both the offensive and zombie context. Dendle
discusses blackness and the blood of the Haitian zombie within the context of a 1935 film called
Ouanga; ... even though her skin appeared fully white, she still has black blood in her veins...
your white skin doesn t change what s inside you (47). This directly connects to AIDS and the
idea of the general population , which can be explained as not just whites but heterosexuals
(Sontag 67). Long goes into detail of why this is, explaining that homosexuality itself [had already

when the epidemic of AIDS hit, the general population believed that it was punishment for not

Mate Selection Sociology
Family as a word is not easy to define, because it is so significant and universal to humanity. The
worlds cultures display so much variety of family that it is difficult to base it off of common
elements. The western world regards family as a wife, husband, and children. Other countries or
groups, though, have familyforms consisting of more than one wife or vice versa. A broad
definition of family is when certain people consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or
adoption.
Human groups have many forms of mate selection, ways to trace descent, and methods to assign
authority and pass on property. Each group perceives its own forms of family as natural.
In the functionalist perspective, they stress that to survive a society, one must meet its basic needs.

When ideas are right or wrong change, it leads to new norms that guide behavior in new
directions. Like said above, it was once an aforethought right for a wife who worked full time to

how husbands and wives spend their time, in what sociologists refer to it as gendered division
of labor, where husbands still talk the primary responsibility for earning the income and the
wives take primary responsibility for taking care of the house and children; still there is still a
shift taking place in the traditional gender division of labor: wives spend more time than they used
to earn family income while husbands spend more time than they used to on housework and child
care so these trends are part of changing thoughts of gender of what is deliberately the right for
husbands and wives. In ushering these new norms and behavior or what is deliberately appropriate

This group of people I believe is the majority of the American public, which some would call the
educated voter. The second outcome of the government educating the American public, involves the
group of people that believes that government is out to get them, these are the people that wear tin
foil hats to protect themselves from the aliens. These people would take this new education and
start spreading the rumors that the government did this just to distract the American public to
actually what was going on. The third outcome involves the intelligence agencies and their ability
to work in the shadows. If the American public is over educated on what goes on when collecting
intelligence then so dose our enemies. Keeping the ability to allow these agencies to work in the
dark is key. There has to be a balance between over educating and under

The Ending At A Very Good Series Written By Stephanie Meyer
And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever. The ending to
a very good series written by Stephanie Meyer the last words of Breaking Dawn. The book has
three parts; book one is Bella s point of view, Book two is Jacobs account then book three back
to Bella. The first section is about Bella s wedding and honeymoon. The second is how Jacob
loves Bella but cannot have her. The last section is Bella s fear for losing her family. The important
parts from Breaking Dawnof the story will be told from the way Stephanie Meyer. The first book
starts as any good love story series should end with the wedding. Bella was not fond of getting
married until she saw Edward at the pulpit waiting for her. The wedding was spectacular. The
wedding guest all showed and then Jacob came to surprise the bride with a dance. Bella and Jacob
began to talk about the after math of her marring a vampire. The talk of having a real honeymoon
made Jacob upset and the start of a small debacle between Jacob and Edward. Jacob feared that
should he try to have sex with Bella that it would kill her. The reception party did not see the spat
and things moved on as Bella was surprised with the destination of her honeymoon. From a plane
ride to a drive to a boat ride; Edward took Bella to an island. Where they started their honeymoon.
Bella entered the bathroom to freshen herself up where she decided the clothing her new sister

Health Risks From The Coal Ash Spill
Ultimately, Dr. Shea found very little actual health risks from the coal ash spill. According to Dan
Way, Dr. Shea reported that short term toxic harm resulted from the spill, and that there were only
isolated cases of coal ash contaminating groundwater (2014). However, there was agreement that
long term monitoring was necessary at the Dan River to assess longer term damages.
Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a response update to assess
potential impacts to human and aquatic life (2014). The method the EPA employed was to analyze
surface water and sediments for contaminants and compare those results to its screening levels. To
assess impact to human health, the EPA compared the sediment data to health risk screening levels
and compared drinking water samples to Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) as well as to other
indicators. Overall, the EPA found those levels found in sediment data and water samples to not
exceed human health screening levels and thus determined that there wasn t significant risk to
human health, although the EPA did recommend that people do not come in direct contact with coal
ash as it could still pose health risks. These findings were consistent with that of Dr. Shea.
Secondarily, the EPA compared the sediment data and water samples to ecological risk based
screening levels. In this study, the EPA did find some levels to exceed ecological screening levels
in both the sediment data and water samples. The action that the

Zebrafish Experiment
Introduction
Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are a popular freshwater fish that have been modified by researchers to
produce several transgenic strains. The strain of transgenic zebrafish that express fluorescent colors
have been given the name Glofish, for they contain different fluorescent proteins such as Green
Fluorescent Protein (GFP), Red Fluorescent Protein (RFP), Yellow Fluorescent Protein (YFP),
Blue Fluorescent Protein (BFP), or Purple Fluorescent Protein (PFP) (Vick, B. M., A. Pollak, C.
Welsh, J. O. Liang, 2012). There are several benefits of using Glofish as a model to portray and
understand inheritance patterns of transgenic genes. Glofish are small size in size, produce a high

Phenotypes pertaining to fins, fin length, and color were observed. Only a few phenotypes, such as
fin length and presence of specific fluorescent proteins, were decided on to be important in
understanding the genetics (Biology 2202 Genetics Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota
Duluth, 2015). Fishes with these phenotypes were counted and recorded.
Generating Hypotheses
Numbers of the wild type and transgenic fish were compared. Type of transgenes and type of
inheritance were hypothesized based on the patterns seen in the offspring. Using that information
can help determine the parent genotypes and thus determine a final inheritance pattern. A null
hypothesis was then formed relative to the genes and inheritance pattern of each tank (Biology
2202 Genetics Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015).
Data Analysis
Hypothesis were generated by comparing the phenotypes of each tank. The hypothesis included the
ratio and expected inheritance pattern, and that any difference is due to chance. Using the
information collected based on the genotypes of the parents and the formed hypothesis, the
expected value for each phenotype were calculated and recorded. A chi square test was used to
determine the P value and conclude the generated

Identification And Identification
Identification has two elements most people know and focus on the first; most companies are
notoriously poor at the second. The first Identification element is, not surprisingly, to understand
the characteristics of potential and current customers, as well as their influencers. This means
delving into what needs they have, what motivates those needs, how they wantthose needs solved,
and who else influences those needs and potential solutions. It also means looking beyond those
presenting symptoms to the underlying problem that needs to be solved (even if the customer
themselves doesn t recognize it). For example, many people will say that the need to own a car
when what they actually need is transportation. And that broader need can be solved in many ways
other than owning a car (bus, bike, taxi, Uber). The second Identification element described by
Peppers and Rogers is to, link information about that customer across the company and throughout
the duration of the customer s relationship with the firm. This is where I would argue that most
companies have a long way to go to be successful. For example, the first step when calling many
companies is to enter your customer ID/Social Security number/whatever on the telephone keypad .
. . and then the first thing the person who (eventually!) answers the phone does is to ask you for the
information you just entered! In addition, from personal experience, I have run into many situations

Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation...
We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a
conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials
can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of
this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers
engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one
with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s
attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of
information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance;
if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero.
The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to
advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak
of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional
appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish
benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal.
Old Spice s use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes
a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial

Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Essay
Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds
Since the advent of the theory of evolution the origin of birds has been a thriving topic in science.
Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand today: that birds are
descendents of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are the direct descendents of a group
of dinosaurs known as the coelurosaurs. Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas
based on information obtained from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to
determine which hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Until then
we have only speculation, but speculation based in observed evidence.
The origin of birds is one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include
the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a
theropod: hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight
bearing) toes on the pes (foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh,
and claws were present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought
that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora.
(There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will
refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and
Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000).
The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the
ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile
reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other
archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians
(Anonymous 2000).
The Theropod Hypothesis
The theropod hypothesis puts the entry of birds into the evolutionary arena after the line of descent
had continued from thecodonts to the saurischian dinosaurs and their subsequent split into

Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay
Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past.
He uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he
sees a gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish
because of his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that
nothing prevents him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom
to break the resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he
sees the gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He
stands there in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way
of gambling. This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly
renewed obligation to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler
wants to no longer live in the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his
future self. If the gambler changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although
the outcome with the gambler was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to
remove the anguish. Some people may look at the gambling as an addiction. These people would
argue that it is not the anguish created by the power of freedom that brings a gambler back to
gambling, but rather the chemicals in

Jury Trial Advantages
Introduction:
Juries form an important part of our legal system and are made up of ordinary people from our
community. A jury trial is a legal proceeding in which a jury, made up of twelve individuals,
makes a decision that then directs the actions of a judge. A jury is randomly chosen from a list of
voter registrations and driver licence ID renewals. Once the jury is chosen they participate in both
criminal trials and civil trials. In criminal trials the jury hears evidence and makes a decision as to
whether the person is guilty or innocent. Civil trials that need juries are usually defamation
proceedings. But are twelve heads better than one? During this report, I will critically analyse and
evaluate the two conflicting viewpoints contained in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen as one of the advantages to a jury trial. Another advantage, is that the decision is
made by twelve people rather than just a judge. A jury trial may not always be the best choice
though; there are many disadvantages to a jury trial. A jury trial, may consist of people such as,
construction workers or stay at home mums and therefore, they may not be able to understand
complex laws and forensic evidence. This is one of the biggest disadvantages to having a jury
trial. Another disadvantage is that every juror has their own personal beliefs that can affect their
decision. For example, someone who comes to court not well dressed may already be considered
guilty in jurors that hold appearance in high regard. The jury system itself has many problems and
issues. For example, some trials can last for days or even months and therefore the jury must
remain an audience for the entire duration listening to arguments and evidence. Sometimes it
becomes too long for them. Katrina Blowers, a journalist working for ABC news, has often seen
jurors falling asleep on the job, others distracted by passing notes to each other,

Why Fingerprint Analysis Is Used For The Sake Of Forensic...
Introduction
Friction ridge analysis, or fingerprint analysis has been used for the sake of forensic analysis for
over 100 years, and has perpetually been considered the most reliable technique of analysis.
However, in recent years, its reliability has begun to crumble due to certain standards set in the
United States of America. In this essay, fingerprintanalysis will be briefly described, along with
the framework of ACE V in which analysts work from looking primarily at its weaknesses and
criticisms. The Daubert standard will be outlined and a how a primary assumption of fingerprint
analysis violates a number of these standards. Also, to further strengthen the case as to why
fingerprint analysis should not be considered so heavily in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Every single ridge has a row of sweat pores. When sweat seeps out of these pores, it runs over the
ridges. Thus, when a finger, palm, or foot touches a surface, an impression is made which in
technical terms is known as a latent print. However, when a print is collected from a police
station directly from the source, this is known as an exemplar print (Haber and Haber, 2008;
Creswell, 2015). The science of fingerprint analysis rests on three, recently, controversial
assumptions: Firstly, the ridge patterns never change during the life of a person; secondly, no two
individuals will have the same ridge patterns; lastly, the transferability of an impression of that
uniqueness to another surface. (Gianelli, 2006). This allowed for fingerprint analysts to form a
procedure which other experts around the world are invited to use, known as ACE V.
ACE V
ACE V which is an acronym which stands for Analysis in which analysts categorise certain features
of the print. Comparison where the latent print is compared to the known print of a suspect.
Evaluation is the stage in which the examiner is expected to make an inference as to whether the
latent print matches the print of the suspect or not. Finally, the process of Verification whereby, the
analyst sends their data to another expert to confirm their inference (Lawless, 2009). While this
loose methodology has been used seemingly successfully over the years, levels of

I Believe In Signs
Do you believe in signs? Do you believe that the universe tries to talk to us all the time but we can

So my theme this year seems to be revolving around the multitude of times God has said Don t be
afraid . Ever since realizing that theme I have been so aware of my life moments when I know for
sure I would have been too afraid to do something or say something but I purposefully now choose
the path of bravery. This year it feels like the words Don t be afraid have been like a shield of

My attempts at living a life of don t be afraid first played out in my wanting to volunteer. It was as
if I had a calling from deep inside my soul to just do it; just put myself in the thick of where
someone else had a need.
A year ago I was made aware that people only volunteer where they feel most comfortable; that it
is rare that people will volunteer in places and activities they no nothing about or feel is too much
away from people and a life they are accustomed to. So I thought about that and realized that I didn
t want to be that kind of person so I signed up to be a volunteer in the cancer center of a hospital.

My Experience In Life And Different Experiences In My Life
All of us have a story to tell. Something that separates us from others. We may have similar
experiences, but what makes us different is how we handle them. In my life I have cherished
memories, hopes for my future, and heartaches that may never leave. Life can get complicated, but
it s all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be.
I would say I had a pretty good childhood. It was filled with good memories, great laughs, and lots
of fun. When I was 3, my parents divorced, but I can t really remember them ever being together
so it s never been an issue. At my mom s house I always spent a lot of time at my grandma s house
playing with my cousins. It was like having a bunch of brothers and sisters. We still have great
relationships between each other, even now in high school. On my dad s side, his family lives in
California so I don t get to see them as much, but the friends we hang out with are practically
family. Our neighbors have three kids from the ages 1 6. I consider them as three more siblings
pretty much. It s very warm and comfortable just like at my mom s. As for my school life, from
1st grade to 6th grade I went to the Catholic school here in Thorp. I had some pretty good years
there. Because there were only about 10 of us, it felt like another little family. In 7th grade is
when I transferred to the Public school. I think because I d gotten used to being in smaller groups,
coming to the Public school was a big deal with the class sizes being larger.

Dogs Are Dogs And Cats
To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs
more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of
those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom,
and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets.
The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in
German named docga . The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically
has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have
always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands
of years now. The origin of the word catcomes from old English and Middle English as catte . The
word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and
retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how
they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that s kept indoors. The litter box is
required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when
left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to let them out for the
bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is
well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go

Why Did Macduff Destroy Macbeth
In Macbeth, Act 4: 2, we can see that Macbeth has reached a point in his life where he will do
anything and kill anyone to ensure his stature in the kingdom is protected. We analyzed this when
he first murdered King Duncan and then had Banquo, his best friend, assassinated. With his
constant homicides come sleepless nights and hallucinations of ghosts. Eventually, his wife goes
crazy because of her guilty conscience of provoking her husband into committing the murders, and
dies right before the battle between Macbethand Macduff occurs. One chief motive behind
Macduff s purpose to destroy Macbeth is what act 4: 2 is about. Macbeth has Macduff s family,
and all who were in his home, slaughtered. This engages Malcolm, who was suspected of his...

of fungi produce macrocyclic trichothecene mycotoxins. The toxins have the ability to cause
weakness, ataxia, hypotension, coagulopathy, and death. (Centers for Disease Control and

Specific types of infections include diseases acquired from services the building preforms,
infections spread from person to person, adverse reactions to chemicals stored within the building,
or reactions due to molds contained in, or on the building (Burge 2004). Microbial infections,
especially from molds, are suspected to be the major cause of health problems associated with
water damaged buildings. Leaking pipes, leaking windows, and leaking roofs are all conceivable
sources of moisture that can lead to mold invasion (Sodipe 2013). Cellulose or carbohydrate based
materials make adequate nutrient sources for molds (Cooper 2007). Consecutive periods of water

these fungi can release spores and hyphal fragments (Nielsen 2003). Mycotoxins are secondary

Factors Affecting The Palm Tree Trimming Services
Factors to consider during palm tree trimming and the best time to do that
Description: Wondering when to take up palm tree trimming? There is no fixed time of trimming
but whenever you feel the need, call up professionals for help.
Specialized companies all across the globe offer professional tree trimming services. In fact, no one
likes to cut or trim a fully grown, beautiful palm tree. But then, it becomes necessary most of the
times. If the tree is overgrown, it may impede the appearance of your lawn. It can also intervene
with the utility lines. The roots of the palm tree may get through the main foundation and the very
structure of your home. Thus, there are number of reasons for taking palm tree removal and palm
tree trimming services. Before you trim the palm tree, various factors need to be considered. To let
the trees grow in a healthy manner, trimming is essential. The kind of tree you are trimming, the
condition of the tree matters when you are undertaking tree trimming. There is no particular season
for tree pruning and this activity may be taken anytime you feel the need.
Do you really need the tree trimming and removal?
When you consider tree trimming, you need to take into account whether the pruning is at all
required or not. If the tree is posing a threat to your home foundation and is spreading too much,
trimming must be undertaken. On the other hand, if the tree is diseased, posing a threat to the lives
of other trees, remove that tree from the site.

Rick Deckard In Blade Runner
The final scene moved me more than anything else due to three elements. Firstly, seeing Rick
Deckard genuinely, utterly helpless, perhaps even pathetically desperate for his life, is an
interesting contrast to most other protagonist characterizations. Usually the hero is always in
control, and even if they re temporarily bested, they take control by having a secret plan or
agenda. They certainly never show genuine fear or desperation. Yet here we have Deckard
slipping from the building, helpless to stop his fate. His desperation was a well executed parallel
to the desperation of the villain, Roy Batty. Though Batty seemed to be in control because he held
Deckard s life in his hands, he was just as helpless in the face of his inevitable demise and he knew
it. Blade Runnerdoes an excellent job reminding the audiencethat none can escape death human or
replicant. These men grapple with their fates, but their efforts are futile. This is a... Show more

Just as he couldn t save himself, neither can we. Batty, Deckard s enemy, chose to show him
mercy and pull him up to safety. Likewise, in our natural state, we have made ourselves enemies
of God. Philippians 3:18: For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with
tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Yet, despite our enmity, Jesus reached down and
pulled us up to safety in his Spirit, if we were willing to take hold of his hand. After Batty
succumbs to his fate, Deckard ponders, I don t know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last
moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life anybody s life...my life. I
admire this quote because it fills me with love for people and makes me want to help them truly
live. I am filled with a desire that both my friends and my enemies will have life, and have it
abundantly that they will overflow with the ecstasies of

Native American Families Are Looking For A Great Child...
When Native American families are looking for a great child care provider, they should apply for
the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center, located in Ada, Oklahoma. It opened when
Governor Bill Anoatubby cut the ribbon on May 27, 2009. Education has always been important to
the Chickasaw Nation, especially when Douglas H. Johnston was governor over forty years ago.
Governor Johnston was a long time advocate of educationfor the Chickasawpeople, Governor
Anoatubby said. We will work together to continue his vision (Chickasaw 2). The Chickasaw
Nation Child Development Center provides an exceptional education process and great safety
techniques for a fair price and the facility is truly unique. The educational process of the center...

SMART
Lofton 2 boards were integrated into the rooms to give the children an early introduction to
computer technology. They also provide opportunities for hands on activities, which is a great
way for children of all ages to get in touch with the world around them. For example, in the one
year old s wing the teachers use the boards for music and sometime the Oklahoma City Zoo s
animal cameras where the teachers teach about the different types of zoo animals. But some
parents have regards with SMART boards being used in their child s room. For example, in the
one year old rooms parents sometimes do not want their children being introduced to technology
at that early of an age. Which is not a good idea at this time, technology is used everywhere and it
is better to learn early on in life. Next, the facility has immense safety precautions including locked
doors, security cameras, good teacher to student ratio, sign in and sign out sheets, and accident
forms. In the Center every door must be locked at all times. This prevents strangers from walking
into the building and taking a child, as well as allowing the teachers inside to see the person before
they come into the room. Another safety precaution is providing a security camera in every room
that includes a built in microphone.Between this and the student to teacher ratio the children are
watched continually. The teacher to student ratio is as follows; Infants are one teacher to four
children, toddlers

  • 2. Adler s Theory Of Personality First of all, Adler s theory believes that personality is formed during the first five years of life (Adler, A.,1927). By this age a child develops his/her style of life, and it is critical in his/her personality development. The narrator experiences neglect during these periods: And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number One. I showed my masterpiece to the grown ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered: Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat? My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained. The grown ups response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside, and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them (de Saint ExupГ©ry, A., 1999). • 3. Theme Of Death In The Giver The Journey Have you ever wondered where you will go when you die? The School by Donald Barthelme and The Giver by Louis Lowry explore death as a common theme throughout the short story and the novel. The School is a short story told from the perspective of a teacher at what seems to be an elementary or middle school. The story, consisting of a mere 1200 words, follows the numerous tragedies the school faces over roughly a month long timespan. The Giveris a novel about a dystopian society and is told from the perspective of a young boy named Jonas. The story follows Jonas journey in becoming the Receiver of Memory at age twelve, which is the normal age to be assigned a career in this society, and how he learns the truth about the world that he lives in. In The School, death is a very obvious theme. Barthelme uses death as the central theme and portrays it in a very humorous way. Whereas in The Giver, death, in terms of it being a theme, is very subtle and serious. This is shown in numerous ways throughout each story. Though death is treated differently in both The Giver and The School, and the message behind each work is different, the dystopian aspect connects the stories by exemplifying the lack of emotion and dehumanization of the characters in each story. In The School, death is the central theme of the story and is treated as something light and humorous, with the exception of a couple tone switches throughout the story. Barthelme uses escalation and a perpetually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Do you like them and every time you see them do you want to run and hug them or do you just avoid them in general? Do they make you smile with their floppy ears and how just clumsy they are when they run. We all have different reasons for loving dogs or just despising them. In this entry you will learn that owning a dog can help you. It can potentially keep you healthy and lower risks from heart diseases and many other things. Throughout the article that I have read the author, White seems to be creditable to talk about the topic. She adds a lot of facts and give description about how the it changes lives. When she begins she jumps right into the point. She adds When the World Health Organizationpublished its policy framework for healthy ageing. The importance of enabling people to live independent and active lives as long as possible were prominent objectives with physical activity and engagement in all aspects of society as key components of healthy ageing. She then goes to give details that it helps with your daily activity owning a dog. It says that people that own dogs get more daily activity than non dog owners. White gives us reason and reason to believe that she knows what she is talking about and it also compassionate about the facts that she gives us. First, The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement throughout the 1920 s and 1930 s. The purpose of the Harlem Renaissance was that it created a new black cultural identity (Beth Rowen and Borgna Bower 2007).Next, this era was a time for people to find their identity in music, writing, plays, and much more. This was also a way for African Americans to find their identity as individuals. This is where the African American authors came to get their names known. The purpose of the Harlem Renaissance was to help the African American culture find their identity as an individual instead of being labeled by other people s opinions ( Rowen and Borgna , 2007 ). Because of all of the opportunities that Harlem presented, Zora Neale Hurston was able to leave a legacy during this era . • 6. Vladimir Putin And President Putin President Vladimir Putin, current president of Russia, is currently serving his second term. His first presidential term was from 2000 2008. He previously served as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial reputation, not just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President Putin is often criticized for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world leaders. To some, he is considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is fairly popular, having high and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network Revealed ). Many Russian experts have believed Putin has abused his power in trying to improve the Russian economy. He has been suspected to have collected a fortune worth at least an estimated $28 billion from projects like construction during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics games. • 7. Skellig Essay Questions Skellig Essay Analyse the themes of imagination, belief and disbelief in the novel. Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing on and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my essay. Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book, making a statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s imagination. Imagination takes its hold in the reader s brain from page one, and continues to keep the readers mind on edge all the way through to the very last page. A true... • 8. Detection And Prevention System For Cloud Infrastructure Abstract In this era of technology when everything is available at just one click; Security is a big issue. Hackers and intruders are getting smarter. There are various methods to protect the network infrastructure as well as communication over the internet, for example firewalls, encryption, and virtual private networks. Intrusion detectionis a comparatively new approach to such techniques. By using intrusion detection, we can collect and use information from acknowledged attacks and figure out if somebody is trying to attack the network/host. In this paper, we have classified different types of IDS. Also we have proposed a hybrid model for intrusion detection and prevention system for cloud infrastructure, which has improved the quality of detecting the unidentified attack via anomaly based detection along with a module which will try to diminish the number of false alarms which are generated by the system. Our proposed system finds random attacks in network and prevents these attacks automatically using the mechanism. Keywords Intrusion detection system, Security, K learning algorithm, Snort tool, Prevention, Network. Although the problem is ubiquitous, administrations are predominantly appealing objectives as well as they are inclined to be more willing to disclose such events than business associations. His biggest rival was Robert Hooke, a president of the Royal Society and renowned scientist. There were many cases throughout their time where Hooke would accuse Newton of publishing his ideas. An extreme example of this was when Hooke publically humiliated Newton, causing Newton to go into hiding for many years to avoid the embarrassment. These social injustices are even more evident when Huck and Jim have to make landfall, and this provides Twain with the chance to satirize the socially correct injustices that Huck and Jim encounter on land. The satire that Twain uses to expose the racism and injustice of society develops along with the adventures that Huck and Jim have. Throughout the book we see the hypocrisy of society. The first character we come across with that trait is Miss Watson. Miss Watson constantly corrects Huck for his unacceptable behavior, but Huck doesn t understand why, That is just the way with some people. They get down on a thing when they don t know nothing about it . Later when Miss Watson tries to teach Huck about Heaven, he decides against trying to go there, ...she was going to live so as to go the good place. Well, I couldn t see no advantage in going where she was going, so I made up my mind I wouldn t try for it. The comments made by Huck clearly show Miss Watson as a hypocrite, scolding Huck for wanting to smoke and then using snuff herself and firmly believing that she would be in heaven. This example finds Huck again running to freedom of the river. The river never cares how saintly you are, how rich you are, or what society thinks you are. The river allows Huck the one thing that Huck wants to be, and that is Huck. The river is freedom than the land is oppression, and that oppression is no more evident than it is to Jim. • 13. The Revolutionary Coffee Company, And The Variables That... Section One Background The Keurig case study is an interesting examination of the revolutionary coffee company, and the variables that will shape the future of the company and industry. The basis of the Keurig case study is the transition for niche product aiming for the mainstream success of everyday use by consumers in their homes, to one of the industry leaders among the coffee industry giants. Keurig had been founded to commercialize an innovative technology that allowed coffee lovers to brew one perfect cup of coffee at a time (Hitt, Hoskisson, Ireland, 2016, p.C 87). Hence, the attempt to create a new segment within the coffee industry would take time, and education efforts to promote and sell the benefits of the new coffee makers. After 11 years of trying to perfect the desired product the company believed could change the industry, Keurig was able to develop the K cup. The K cup brand was built of the idea of the consumer being able to brew a single cup of coffee at the perfect temperature and superior tasting at the convenience of their home (Hitt, Hoskisson, Ireland, 2016, p.C 87). As a result, this new product began to set the market on fire because the new features were never available for customers, which in turn created the issue of competition. According to Dan Way, Dr. Shea reported that short term toxic harm resulted from the spill, and that there were only isolated cases of coal ash contaminating groundwater (2014). However, there was agreement that long term monitoring was necessary at the Dan River to assess longer term damages. Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a response update to assess potential impacts to human and aquatic life (2014). The method the EPA employed was to analyze surface water and sediments for contaminants and compare those results to its screening levels. To assess impact to human health, the EPA compared the sediment data to health risk screening levels and compared drinking water samples to Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) as well as to other indicators. Overall, the EPA found those levels found in sediment data and water samples to not exceed human health screening levels and thus determined that there wasn t significant risk to human health, although the EPA did recommend that people do not come in direct contact with coal ash as it could still pose health risks. These findings were consistent with that of Dr. Shea. Secondarily, the EPA compared the sediment data and water samples to ecological risk based screening levels. • 26. Identification And Identification Identification has two elements most people know and focus on the first; most companies are notoriously poor at the second. The first Identification element is, not surprisingly, to understand the characteristics of potential and current customers, as well as their influencers. This means delving into what needs they have, what motivates those needs, how they wantthose needs solved, and who else influences those needs and potential solutions. It also means looking beyond those presenting symptoms to the underlying problem that needs to be solved (even if the customer themselves doesn t recognize it). For example, many people will say that the need to own a car when what they actually need is transportation. And that broader need can be solved in many ways other than owning a car (bus, bike, taxi, Uber). The second Identification element described by Peppers and Rogers is to, link information about that customer across the company and throughout the duration of the customer s relationship with the firm. This is where I would argue that most companies have a long way to go to be successful. For example, the first step when calling many companies is to enter your customer ID/Social Security number/whatever on the telephone keypad . . . and then the first thing the person who (eventually!) answers the phone does is to ask you for the information you just entered! We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal. Old Spice s use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial ... Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000). The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000). The Theropod Hypothesis The theropod hypothesis puts the entry of birds into the evolutionary arena after the line of descent had continued from thecodonts to the saurischian dinosaurs and their subsequent split into ... • 30. Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past. He uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he sees a gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish because of his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that nothing prevents him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom to break the resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he sees the gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He stands there in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way of gambling. This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly renewed obligation to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler wants to no longer live in the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his future self. If the gambler changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although the outcome with the gambler was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to remove the anguish. Some people may look at the gambling as an addiction. These people would argue that it is not the anguish created by the power of freedom that brings a gambler back to gambling, but rather the chemicals in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Jury Trial Advantages Introduction: Juries form an important part of our legal system and are made up of ordinary people from our community. A jury trial is a legal proceeding in which a jury, made up of twelve individuals, makes a decision that then directs the actions of a judge. A jury is randomly chosen from a list of voter registrations and driver licence ID renewals. Once the jury is chosen they participate in both criminal trials and civil trials. In criminal trials the jury hears evidence and makes a decision as to whether the person is guilty or innocent. Civil trials that need juries are usually defamation proceedings. But are twelve heads better than one? During this report, I will critically analyse and evaluate the two conflicting viewpoints contained in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be seen as one of the advantages to a jury trial. Another advantage, is that the decision is made by twelve people rather than just a judge. A jury trial may not always be the best choice though; there are many disadvantages to a jury trial. A jury trial, may consist of people such as, construction workers or stay at home mums and therefore, they may not be able to understand complex laws and forensic evidence. This is one of the biggest disadvantages to having a jury trial. Another disadvantage is that every juror has their own personal beliefs that can affect their decision. For example, someone who comes to court not well dressed may already be considered guilty in jurors that hold appearance in high regard. The jury system itself has many problems and issues. For example, some trials can last for days or even months and therefore the jury must remain an audience for the entire duration listening to arguments and evidence. Sometimes it becomes too long for them. Katrina Blowers, a journalist working for ABC news, has often seen jurors falling asleep on the job, others distracted by passing notes to each other, ... • 32. Why Fingerprint Analysis Is Used For The Sake Of Forensic... Introduction Friction ridge analysis, or fingerprint analysis has been used for the sake of forensic analysis for over 100 years, and has perpetually been considered the most reliable technique of analysis. However, in recent years, its reliability has begun to crumble due to certain standards set in the United States of America. In this essay, fingerprintanalysis will be briefly described, along with the framework of ACE V in which analysts work from looking primarily at its weaknesses and criticisms. The Daubert standard will be outlined and a how a primary assumption of fingerprint analysis violates a number of these standards. Also, to further strengthen the case as to why fingerprint analysis should not be considered so heavily in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every single ridge has a row of sweat pores. When sweat seeps out of these pores, it runs over the ridges. Thus, when a finger, palm, or foot touches a surface, an impression is made which in technical terms is known as a latent print. However, when a print is collected from a police station directly from the source, this is known as an exemplar print (Haber and Haber, 2008; Creswell, 2015). The science of fingerprint analysis rests on three, recently, controversial assumptions: Firstly, the ridge patterns never change during the life of a person; secondly, no two individuals will have the same ridge patterns; lastly, the transferability of an impression of that uniqueness to another surface. (Gianelli, 2006). This allowed for fingerprint analysts to form a procedure which other experts around the world are invited to use, known as ACE V. ACE V ACE V which is an acronym which stands for Analysis in which analysts categorise certain features of the print. Comparison where the latent print is compared to the known print of a suspect. Evaluation is the stage in which the examiner is expected to make an inference as to whether the latent print matches the print of the suspect or not. Finally, the process of Verification whereby, the analyst sends their data to another expert to confirm their inference (Lawless, 2009). While this loose methodology has been used seemingly successfully over the years, levels of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So my theme this year seems to be revolving around the multitude of times God has said Don t be afraid . Ever since realizing that theme I have been so aware of my life moments when I know for sure I would have been too afraid to do something or say something but I purposefully now choose the path of bravery. This year it feels like the words Don t be afraid have been like a shield of armor around me keeping fear at bay. My attempts at living a life of don t be afraid first played out in my wanting to volunteer. It was as if I had a calling from deep inside my soul to just do it; just put myself in the thick of where someone else had a need. A year ago I was made aware that people only volunteer where they feel most comfortable; that it is rare that people will volunteer in places and activities they no nothing about or feel is too much away from people and a life they are accustomed to. So I thought about that and realized that I didn t want to be that kind of person so I signed up to be a volunteer in the cancer center of a hospital. Life can get complicated, but it s all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be. I would say I had a pretty good childhood. It was filled with good memories, great laughs, and lots of fun. When I was 3, my parents divorced, but I can t really remember them ever being together so it s never been an issue. At my mom s house I always spent a lot of time at my grandma s house playing with my cousins. It was like having a bunch of brothers and sisters. • 36. Dogs Are Dogs And Cats To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named docga . The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word catcomes from old English and Middle English as catte . The word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that s kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eventually, his wife goes crazy because of her guilty conscience of provoking her husband into committing the murders, and dies right before the battle between Macbethand Macduff occurs. Firstly, seeing Rick Deckard genuinely, utterly helpless, perhaps even pathetically desperate for his life, is an interesting contrast to most other protagonist characterizations. Usually the hero is always in control, and even if they re temporarily bested, they take control by having a secret plan or agenda. They certainly never show genuine fear or desperation. Yet here we have Deckard slipping from the building, helpless to stop his fate. His desperation was a well executed parallel to the desperation of the villain, Roy Batty. Though Batty seemed to be in control because he held Deckard s life in his hands, he was just as helpless in the face of his inevitable demise and he knew it.
