Soccer Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Soccer Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that
require a delicate balance of creativity, research, and insightful analysis. To start, soccer is a
multifaceted sport with a rich history, global significance, and a diverse range of topics to
explore. Narrowing down the focus and choosing a specific angle can be a daunting task, as
there are numerous aspects such as the game's evolution, cultural impact, tactical strategies, and
the influence of renowned players.
Moreover, delving into the intricate details of soccer requires a deep understanding of the sport,
its rules, and its evolving dynamics. Researching statistics, historical moments, and contemporary
trends is essential to provide a comprehensive overview. The challenge lies in presenting this
information in a way that is not only informative but also engaging for the reader.
Another hurdle is striking the right balance between factual content and personal insights. While
it's crucial to include relevant data and scholarly perspectives, injecting a personal touch can
make the essay more compelling. Articulating thoughts coherently, organizing ideas logically,
and maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout the essay adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, addressing the vast audience that encompasses both avid soccer enthusiasts and
those less familiar with the sport requires a nuanced approach. Finding a tone that captivates
both demographics while avoiding clichГ©s and overused expressions can be a demanding task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Soccer Essays" demands a meticulous approach that
combines knowledge, creativity, and effective communication. However, for those seeking
assistance or wishing to explore a broader range of topics, similar essays and more can be

Watershed Research Paper
INTRODUCTION Our watershed is important to us; it is what we need for are
water, food, and growth of our environment. It makes us successful as a whole but
when we damage it we damage everything we need and work to grow and protect.
By doing a couple things for Greeley s watershed we as a whole can start to change
the pollution in our watershed. The plan is to use water barrels to collect the water
that runs off the greenhouse at Northridge high school into gutters and the fills the
barrels. When the greenhouse plants need water you get a hose and turn it on . with
the native plants being planted around the greenhouse that are going to be grown the
plants will be space out from the rest but be placed where they will be seen all around

Being able to plant native flowers and grasses around this to make it look nice and
keep it look good around it .Also coming up with having a better way to water
these plants by using water barrels to water plants inside the greenhouse and
outside of the greenhouse. Maintaining this would be quite easy by talking to the
school custodian about watering and setting up a easy way to water by turning the
spigot on and using a irrigation system using rain water. It will be ran from a water
barrels around the greenhouses. The water will run off of the roof section of the
greenhouse and into a gutter system that will be added so the water can make it
into the barrels and fill them up. All year round when it come to water there s water
from anything from snow, rain, frost, and mist. Some of the native plant that would
be plant are Colorado Blue Columbine, Penstemon strictus, sideoats grama. These
plants because they are endangered and we don t see a lot of them around these area.
As doing this project our community would better with the school using this
greenhouse instead of letting it sit there and be overrun by weeds and just get
misused. The goal of this project is to get Northridge high school s greenhouse

Summary Of The Bean Trees By Barbara Kingsolver
The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, tells the story of how life is all about the
journey, and not always the destination. The book revolves around one main
character, Taylor Greer. Her life has not always been easy, and one day she decides
to start over and leave. The reader follows her journey, and eventually meets other
characters like Lou Ann Ruiz and Esperanza. These three women all want a clean
slate to start a new life. When their journeys come together, a community of women
forms that is full of support and love. Kingsolver tells the story of three women, and
how their lives drastically change. Each journey is represented by their own symbol;
something that explains these journeys with just one object. In The Bean Trees, three

She travels from Kentucky to Illinois, from Illinois to Kansas, and she finds herself
stopping in Oklahoma. This is where she is left with Turtle, a young, Cherokee
baby who gets left in her car. Taylor takes on the responsibility of Turtle and brings
the child on her journey with her. She accepts her role as a mother in Turtle s life,
and faces her underlying fear of motherhood. As she continues to drive, she sees
the beauty of Arizona, and fate is left behind. The whole scene was too goofy to be

journey truly beginning. This is what made her decide to stay in Arizona. The
scenery was something she had never experienced before, and she decided, no
matter what, that she wanted to be in Arizona and make it her new home. This is a
big step for Taylor because she was never one for staying places, but these clouds
were certainty to her, and she knew that this would be where her community would
be formed. This is where she faces all her fears. She not only gets a job in a tire shop,
but becomes a mother. If she did not push fate, she would have never ended up in
The History Of The Big Ear Radio Telescope
Have you ever pondered what may lie beyond our solar system? Perhaps you ve
decided that there is no way anything could be out there, in the empty, seemingly
endless void we call space. However, perhaps there is other life out there, life more
advanced than us, perhaps life just now exiting what to us would be the stone age,
the possibilities are truly infinite. Personally, I believe there are other beings out there
in the vast expanse. On August 15th, 1977 at 11:16 PM EDT the Big Ear Radio
Telescope located at the Ohio State University received an unknown radio
transmission that came from somewhere seemingly within the Sagittarius
Constellation, bearing the hallmarks of extraterrestrial origin. Eighteen years prior to

We already have the International Space Station, where some cosmonauts live in,

them, having some inhabitants on a planet, one that is earthlike only just frozen

Fermi Paradox states whether or not we are alone in our galaxy, and if not, where
is everyone? In life there are filters, or rather, great barriers for life to overcome.
For example, some filters we may have to go through in the future include Nuclear
War, and Climate change. Some filters that may explain why we haven t found any
signs of advanced civilization may include things such as Advanced Technology
exists, but when activated, it ends up destroying the planet. The last words of every
advanced civilization would be something like This new technology will solve all our
problems once I push this button! If this is the case, then chances are, we ourselves
could be much closer to the end than we are to the beginning of human existence.
Another filter could be that there is a type 3 civilization (Simply put, a civilization
with some of/the most advanced technology imaginable) somewhere out there, and

Essay On Weapons In The Civil War
Weapons in the civil war played a huge role in the war. What weapons were better,
how fast could the weapon could be loaded these were all things people had to look
at with weapons in the civil war. There were weapons that you could personally
buy or you could just get the standard weapon they would give you when you to go
to war which was a standard musket.so whos weapons were better? The Minie ball
was a huge improvement it was designed to expand while traveling along the rifle
barrel, it increased muzzle velocity as well as causing spin to the bullet, making its
accuracy and range far better. It was made of soft lead, it was a little smaller than the
gunbore, making it easy to load in combat. Many people feel that the reason there
were so many casualties in the war was due to the minie ball. The minie ball was used
by both side confederate and the north, but the north had more ammunition.
Cannons were also a big factor in the war also there were quite a few types of
cannons, including the 6 pounder gun, M1857 12 pounder, 12 pounder Howitzer,
24 pounder Howitzer, 10 pounder Parrott rifle, 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and the 20
pounder Parrott rifle. Smoothbore cannon which were cannons without rifling in
the barrel were still used, falling into two categories, guns and howitzers, for firing
at higher trajectories and shorter ranges. There were a lot of swords and sabers used
including, model 1832 foot artillery sword, model 1832 dragoon saber, model 1840 ...

The handgun used the most by union troops would be the Colt models 1851 and

used to spy on the confederates camps, and bases. Then they would send information

The Conflict Of The West Bank And Gaza Strip
One State, Two States Few, if any, modern conflicts are as complex as the Arab
Israeli conflict. Specifically, the political situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip
has led to bloodshed, political high wire acts, and cycles of hope and disappointment
for decades. Consensus has generally leaned towards advocated a two state solution
for the conflict, in which the Israelremains a Jewish state, and the Palestinian Arabs
establish their own country carved from currently Israeli occupied territories. This
solution has become more infeasible, not more attainable, efforts to find a lasting
peace have occurred. The main alternative, a one state solution, in which one nation
takes full control of the Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip,... Show more

While UN Security Council Resolution 242 called for Israel to remove itself from
these areas and return to its pre 1967 War borders (Farsakh 2005), Israel continued
its presence in the region. In the years that have followed, numerous solutions have
been proposed to solve the crisis and to bring a lasting peace and sense of stability to
the area. The solution most supported up to now has been the two state solution. In
this solution, parts of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (likely the full area in the
latter) would become part of an independent, self governing Palestinian state, while
the rest of the area would become Israeli territory. With this, Palestinians would have
a nation state and could chart their own political and cultural course. Most nations
and international organizations have lent their support to this idea, including the US,
the UN, and Israel and Palestinian Authority (Sanger 2016), forming the basis for
most peace talks aiming to resolve the conflict. The question that now remains is why
has this solution not yet been achieved? The disagreement on the borders of each
state remains one of the primary roadblocks to achieving the two state solution. There
exists no consensus on which land would belong to Israel and which to an
independent Palestinian state. One complicating issue in

charming will be, and how beautiful she will feel on the day of her fairytale

Current Account Sustainability
Does a current account deficit matter?
Yun Shik Park
Abstract: Sometimes a country will export their goods to another country, rather than
importing them and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to
examine the role of current account in national economic development. As the world
becomes more interdependent and globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a
country s income and expenditure records the current account. The current account is
the point at which international economics collide with political reality. When
countries hold large deficits, businesses, trade unions, politicians, and countries are
often quick to blame their opponents and make changes regarding unfair practices.
Some economists argue that A large current account deficit is not a cause of concern
if the fiscal accounted are balanced, Lawson s Doctrine. Therefore, we don t need to
worry about the current account. However, the paper researched this matter for a
more in depth understanding of the economic concept of current account deficits.
I.Introduction
The current account balance is a part of the balance of payments. A country s current

The History and Dynamics of Regionalism
THE ROOTS AND DYNAMICS OF REGIONALISM Geographical proximity and
mutual interference of state sharing called regionalism. Regionalism includes
interest group and less global scope. It is better defined as formal or informal,
between governments and not government s organization, or private sector for
mutual gains. Region is defining as social and political construction it about exclude
and include. POLITICAL FACTORS DRIVING REGIONALISM Political factors
are associated to development of regionalism; its main points are internal or external
threats, domestic politics and leadership. IDENTITY: Internal Factors have common
culture and religion and external factors have common security or economic trade.
Regional awareness exists naturally even if it does not lead to regional co operation
unless states work to make the best of their regional environment. INTERNAL AND
EXTERNAL TRADE: Internal and external trade can be a main political factor that
drives the states further close regional co operation. The trade of communism was
powerful impact to regionalism for the creation of NATO. Security trades are the
most common form of external trades for regional integration. DOMESTIC
POLITICS: Domestic politics instantly becomes an important variable affecting the
regional governance deeds. It can take a powerful domestic coalition that has strong
export oriented manufacturing industries to help closer economic integration.
International agreement also affects domestic politics for the
Argument Synthesis Essay
In the article, the Burning Question, the issue of biomass energy via wood pellets
was brought to question. This subject has deeply divided scientists, primarily from
the chemistry and environmental science disciplines, economists, and politicians.
Currently the use of wood pellets for energy, under the European Union, is classified
as a carbon neutral fuel. The argument for this designation lies in the regeneration of
trees to take up the carbon released from burning past trees. However, many scientists
call foul, basing their argument on the substantial lag period between burning trees
and the regeneration of them. This period has led many to worry that such actions
will worsen the current global warmingcrisis. Biomass energy plants produce,... Show

I did know that, especially in the United States, wood pellets were an increasingly
common fuel for winter heating. I was not aware that pellets were also being used
for the creation of electricity in Europe, but I suppose the two are quite similar. I
did find the argument quite interesting; however, it was a quite similar one to that
of many environmental vs. economic gain based arguments before. What I did
find intriguing, though, was how the data, timeline, numbers, and conclusion
could differ so vastly based on which side of the argument a scientist was on. So, I
guess what I learned from this article was that there is an emerging international
wood pellet trade; however, the arguments are similar to those that I have been
previously exposed to, with this argument being slightly more in depth. Two things
that were not discussed in this article, which I think are pretty crucial, were that
wood pellets are a form of renewable energy, if maintained responsibly, and that the
ash from the wood pellets, depending on their temperature of combustion, can be
used as fertilizer on fields. My personal view on this topic is in favor of the use of
wood pellet fired power plants as long as the harvest of timber is highly managed
with programs for reforestation. However, I am opposed to the designation of wood
pellets as a carbon neutral fuel. The substantial lag period of over 40 years and the
augmented production
The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire
The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth
Wind and Fire is because of the fond memories that I have listening to my parents
music. Music from the parents era is very different from the music of today. Music
from that era was more love oriented, rhythmic and rich in science of musicand
musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of music from such
groups as the Four Tops, the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue
Notes, the Chi Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All stars, Al
Jaureau, and Ronnie Laws, among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and
Fire s sound is unique and quite different from all other groups of that era.

Enemy Aliens In Wartime Australia
Another aspect of wartime Australia that history likes to forget is the emergence of
an intense Anti German movement. In 1914, within a week of the Declaration of
War, all German Australian citizens were declared enemy aliens and required by law
to report to government offices to report their residential addresses (NSW Migration
Heritage Centre 2011). By February 1915, the definition of enemy alien came to
include those born in Australia, but with parents or grandparents of German or
Austrian decent. Due to the number of citizens now classified as enemy aliens , it
became impossible to intern all of them, and the policy of selective internment was
aimed at leaders of the German Australian community, including high ranking

Merit Pay For Performance Plan
Executive Summary Merit pay is a short term, pay for performance plan, with a
typical life span of three to four years, in which employers provide rewards, usually
in terms of a raise for past performance, for employees who perform their jobs
effectively, which will lead to higher performing employees which will in turn lead
to a better work environment and higher overall productivity. The concept of merit
pay is most often mentioned in the context of educational and/or government civil
service reform. With a merit based pay system, the employer pays, with the idea
that the employer will reward more productive employees with merit increases.
This concept came about in an attempt to sustain high performance levels in the
workplace linking merit increases, or increases in base pay, to employee
performance ratings, which are taken at the end of a performance year, usually by
a direct supervisor. Due to the ever increasing changes of supply and demand in
business, in order to remain feasible, the merit pay system is expected to change
consistently with the needs presented to the companies, whether it be foreign
competition, consumer demands, producer limitations, etc. Pay for performance
plans are formal compensation systems that are directly related to organizational or
individual performance. The United States Department of Labor defined pay for
performance as a raise in pay based on a set of criteria put in place by employers, and
notes that the Fair Labor Standards Act,
Allograft Sterilization Essay
Response/Recommendation:
A combined method of allograft sterilization appears to be the best method to
reduce the possibility of viral, bacterial and fungal infection as well as preserve the
bio mechanical properties of the graft. Sterilization methods should involve a low
dose of gamma radiation ( 25 KGy), chemical sterilization and antibiotic soaking. The
use of radio protective solutions (i.e. propylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, mannitol
and trehalose) can be effective in reducing the risk of free radical attack to the
collagen from the gamma radiation. Electron based radiation in combination with
tissue protective measure (i.e. low temperature, carbon dioxide) can be an alternative
method of sterilization, but further studies are required to validate this procedure.
Strength of Recommendation: Moderate

Upper Class And Social Class
Body
Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In
this case, social class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further
influences their future both academically and professionally. Empirical evidence
suggests that individuals/students attending college/university from a lower social
class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school system leading to
higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei,
2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher
social class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college,
high academic performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that
an obvious sociocultural difference continues to persist among individuals who
belong to different social classes.
Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating
into the schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often
have parents who reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history,
etc. within the home. This is supported by findings which indicate that one of the
factors related to success among upper class students is their access to cultural capital
(Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into
consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college
/university degrees in
Cultural Dimensions And Its Impact On The Corporate
World
Cultural differences and dimensions are very important when it comes to the
corporate world. There have been numerous studies done on individual differences
that are seeking out to identify the reasons why people behave in which the way they
do. In the United States, it is important to understand each dimensionand which
cultural dimension we focus on most. In this paper, the five cultural dimensions and
how they are implemented in the corporate world will be discussed. Cultureis defined
as, The learned, shared way of doing things in a particular society (Uhl Bien,
Schermerhorn, Osborne, 2014, p.44). As referred by Geert Hofstede, culture is the,
software of the mind . Hofstede is referring to our minds as, hardware since it is
universal to all humans. However, the, software of culture varies from each one with
many differences. We were born into a society that teaches you culture rather than
being born into it. Since we learn from a very young age about culture this helps up
to distinguish boundaries between different groups of people. In each culture there
are a set of values and these are important when dealing with organizational behavior.
Uhl Bien, Schermerhorn, Osborne (2014) state that the way in which people think
about work, risk, wealth, achievement, and gain may influence their approach to
work and relationships (p.44). There is a term known as cultural quotient which
describes how someone is able to work effectively across cultures

Importance of Setting Goals Essay
The Importance of Setting Goals
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal s you
are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in
school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three
things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to
come.
When setting direction to success you must make good choices on the path you are
going to choose. The wrong path will put you somewhere that is going to take you
off track from your goals. This path can lead to partying too much, getting lazy, and
not going back to school. Not doing schoolwork is getting lazy. You must stayon top
of schoolwork and not fall behind. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drive to stay in school is another big part of setting goals. Without the drive to
stay in school, you lose site of those nice things that can be achieved with hard work.
Drive also motivates you to do the things that you don t want to do, but have to do
them. Things like writing papers, studying for exams, and going to school during the
summer. The drive to achieve your goals will help you through these tough times.
Through the tough times, think about all of those goals you are trying to achieve,
and how nice it is going to be when you reach them.
Finding a career that will provide for you can be very difficult if you do not follow
the path to reach your goals. This is another reason to stay on track and work hard
in school. Without your education, going into the work force and finding a good
job that will provide for you and your family can be very hard. Most jobs require
school degrees and sometimes certifications that require many hours of work.
Without the degrees and the certifications, advancement in a job is sometimes

The Key To Survival Guilt, And The Moral Logic Of
Survival
The instincts and emotions connected to survival has benefits and negatives in a
person s life. The Seventh Man , Moral Logic of Survival Guilt , and The Key to
Disaster Survival all show how people are affected by survival. From what I ve read
from the stories most people feel guilty after survival. It s not all guiltthere are many
emotions that go with survival. In The Seventh Man the narrator loses a friend
that he felt he could have saved. The man and his friend K were down by the ocean
while they were in the eye of a huge storm. K was looking at stuff thrown on the
beach by the storm, the man was watching for big waves and high winds. The man
soon felt the wind start to kick up and saw a big wave getting closer to the shore.
He yelled for K, but K wasn t listening he was almost in his own world. The man
started to run, but stopped and yelled for K again this time K heard him and started
running but it was too late the wave crashed over K onto the shore. The wave took
K out into the cold ocean water. They never found K s body after that. The man
couldn t forgive himself for what happened to K and liced his life in fear of losing or
hurting people.
In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt the narrator explains why people feel guilty
after surviving something someone else didn t or not being there for someone to
help. Soldiers often carry this burden home survivor guilt being perhaps the kind most
familiar to us. (pg.153, Sherman), that sentence told me
The Populist Movement
During the 1890 s many pivotal events led to a new coming of a political party that
left an everlasting impact on American history known as the Populist movement .
The Populist movement begin around the late eighteen hundred in efforts to reverse
the declining economic prospects and rescue the control from the powerful
government (Foner 509). With that being said, there were several event that led to the
creation of the movement. The 1890 s imposition of a new radical system locked
African Americans into the status of second class citizenships, which ultimately
denied African Americans freedoms that many white individuals took for granted.
Also, the increase of immigration led to heated debates considering the Spanish
American war. Many Americans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With that being said, the word Progressive came into use around 1910 as a way of
describing a loosely defined political movement of individuals/groups who hoped to
bring change in American social and political issues during this time (Foner 544). In
addition, the key purpose behind this monumental movement was voicing their
believe rights in social problems (such as industrial conditions) and even in political
issues (such as women suffrage). The Progressive movement was a time of booming
economic growth. Industrial production fulrished, tremendous increase in
population, and the consumer marketplace expanded. Because of this, farms and
cities grew together and resulted in an increase population. Cities during this time
had over 100,000 individuals in a populated area (Foner 545). Furthermore, many
social reformers such as Jane Addams, Jacob Riis, and Ida Tarbell were powerful
voices in the Progressive Era. They were determined to expose the inequality and evil
of corporate greed. This kind of behavior was also known as Muckraking was a
disparaged by Theodore Roosevelt. However, that did not stop advocated from
exposing the dirty truth about the unsanitary, harsh working conditions. Also, while
many Progressive advocates fought for corporate justice, others used the Era as a
political opportunity for women s suffrage. The push for rights of women included
the visibility of working women, the right to vote, and social justice on political
corruption. Many women fought for the equal right to work in factories as men. In
1920, eight million women were working for wages (Foner 549). With that being
said, the working woman became a symbol of female emancipation that would be
remembered years and years later. With the increase in laborers, both women and
men, the abundance in economic production in businesses kept

Ticking Tension and Silent Screams: Examining Sound in We Need To Talk About
Kevin In director Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011), dialogue
serves as just one of many modes of sound used to guide the narrative. Through a
series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic
sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin
(Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential
events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with
his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the
screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the
audience. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal
diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when
viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of
the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as
screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs.
Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of
irony to different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film,
sounds in particular shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for
further interpretation. In the opening

an area of particular weakness for Chinese OEMs who have relied on their foreign
partners to lead the development of key component technologies. The determining
factor in whether a car company can compete in the international markets is whether
they have the capacity to meet local consumer as well as regulatory requirements.
While Chinese firms have learned very quickly how to assemble cars and develop
supply chains, they are very inexperienced at the vehicle development and synthesis
process. An automobile is a complex engineered system requiring advanced
technology and know how in order to test and validate the achievement of
benchmark targets in the areas of performance, fuel economy, safety and quality. It is
in this area that Chinese firms are weakest. Chinese vehicles, while improving
rapidly, are still not up to the world class standards required to compete in the mature
markets of the world.

Basketball Game In Basketball
On April 7th, 2008 an instant classic of a basketball game was played between Bill
Self s Kansas Jayhawks and John Calipari s Memphis Tigers. It was the national
Championship between two power house number one seeded teams. The Tigers
seemed to have the game locked up, with just over two minutes left they had a 9
point lead over the Jayhawks. Out of nowhere Kansas caught fire to produce an
epic comeback. With 2 seconds left Mario Chalmers, the dead eye Jayhawk point
guard, hit a quick catch and shoot three pointer to tie the game at 65. The Jayhawks
went on to win the game in overtime, 75 68, in what would become not only KU s
first championship in twenty years, but would also go down as one of the greatest
championship games in college basketballhistory. The 2007 08 team will be
remembered for the win and, more importantly, for Mario s Miracle , the name given
to Mario Chalmers game tying shot. However, the Jayhawks had extensive success
throughout the whole season that brought them to that point. The season was
highlighted by a deadly accurate, high scoring offense that was fueled by a
suffocating defense that swarmed at every opportunity to take the ball away, and the
powerful showing in the tournament games leading up to the epic conclusion.
Led by junior guard Brandon Rush at 13.3 points per game, Kansas finished the
regular season ranked tenth in the nation for points per game at 81.5. Four of their
seven man rotation averaged ten or more points per game. The Hawks
How Is Andrew Carnegie Selfish
Carnegie, born poor; grew up to be one of the wealthiest men in American history.
You would think that his actions would be generous with how much money he has.
In light of things his actions were quite the opposite. Carnegie grew up poor in a
cabin in Scotland. His family decided to move to America and later he end up
making money off of low wage workers. With regard to his philanthropy, Andrew
Carnegiewasn t a hero. Andrew Carnegie spent his money very selfishly. Carnegie
had spent 10 million on a castle in Scotland. Carnegie occasionally went to the
castle as a vacation home. While he only renovated the castle and it gave jobs all the
money spent was from the backs of his low wage workers. Carnegie very selfishly

calling for a no fly zone in Syria, a move that some Pentagon officials say could

The Purpose Of Copyright Laws
The purpose of copyright laws in modern society, as confirmed by Darrell Panethiere
(2005) is to protect the creative rights of authors, performers, publishers,
broadcasters, and many others whose livelihoods depend upon the recognition of
rights (p. 1, par. 1) for their intellectual properties. In the contemporary business
world, most companies that sell products of some kind depend on other firms for the
design, production, and distribution of the product to make it available for selling.
Such sales are often either wholesale to retailers or retail to consumers. Violations of
the copyrights of intellectual property(IP), destroys the chain of commerce reflected
in these different industries; which also includes the loss of employment to workers
in each industry. In short, copyrightlaws protect the motivation of creativity, the
investment of commerce, plus the employment of a labor force.
WHY COPYRIGHT LAWS?
As recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, n.d.), in the
Protection of Industrial Property (p. 4, par. 2) during the Paris Convention of 1883
as well as in the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (p. 4, par. 2) during the
Berne Convention of 1886, both acknowledges the valuation developed and emerging
societies attribute to intellectual properties. Therefore, the protection of these values
is justified with laws.
Intellectual property is identified as mental conceptions in fixed form which are
perceptible by human

Traditional Solar Cells Advantage And Applications
Traditional solar cells advantage and applications Solar cells technology, as a clean
power source of new generation, has been great developed in the past 35 years. The
market needed for this for the solar cells technology is also greatly increased while
module cost is decreased.
However, around 80 percent of all the solar panels sold around the world is
traditional solar cells, because of their efficiency for residential use. The
applications for traditional solar cells are still dominant in the area. And here are
some main types of traditional solar cells and their applications. Monocrystalline
silicon cells Mono crystalline silicon cell technology is the oldest solar cell
technology, but it s still the most popular and efficient solar cell technology
nowadays. The monocrystalline silicon module is made from a single silicon
crystal; it is usually complex and huge. And its color is usually blue or black. As
the earliest solar cell technology, it has a lot of advantages that s make it still
popular in the area. One of the most important one is its longevity, some websites
indicate that the single crystalline solar panels can last up to 50 years, until 2015,
some panels are still doing their duties after 40 years. Even though the panel will
suffer an efficiency drop as time goes by, it is still a very reliable in the long run. Its
efficiency is another big advantage; single crystalline cells can convert the highest

Speech On Divali Celebration
According to the National Council of Indian Culture of Trinidad and Tobago
which stated that Divali arrived in Trinidad and Tobago over 100 years ago when
they immigrated from Indian for the indentured labourers. Divali has evolved and

celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago. In 1966 Divali was officially declared a
public holiday for Trinidad and Tobago which was announced by Bhadase Sagan

became a public holiday, Hindus started organizing larger celebrations that were
opened to the public and this has set the scene for the way in which Divali is
celebrated today. The National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) plays a
tremendous role in the promotion of Divali as a national celebration through its
annual celebrations at Divali Nagar in Chaguanas. Trinidad and Tobago has define
Divali as an event that represents Trinibagians as a multi religious, multi ethnic
society. While Divali is essentially a Hindu festival, people of all faiths actively join

Effects Of Gaming On Mental Health
The Effects of Gaming on a Person s Health
The effects of gaming on a person is a controversial issue. Many people believe
that it is a bad influence, but there is also evidence that games can have positive
effects on a person s health. Many studies have been done into the topic of the
effects of video games on a person. The findings show that video games have a
positive effect on a person s mental and social health and have many unrelated health
benefits. The biggest type of health that video games affect is a person s mental and
emotional health. Studies show that video games have positive effects on mental
health. In the study Is Time Spent Playing Video Games Associated with Mental
health, Cognitive and Social Skills in Young Children? it was found that video
games have positive effects on mental health. Viviane Kowess Masfety et al. say
The results of the present study suggest that video game use is not associated with
an increased risk of mental health problems. On the contrary, the data presented
here suggest that video games are a protective factor (356). Isabela Granic et al.
discusses the effects video games have on emotions and mood and how these affect
mental health. They say, Several studies have shown a causal relation between
playing preferred video games and improved mood or increases in positive emotion
(71). The improvement to mood and emotions can have many positive effects to
mental health. One example comes from the puzzle genre of games. The
The Thermal Load Of The System
I.Introduction
With the continuous increase in technological advancements concerning electronics,
so has the thermal load of the system. The management of heat transfer away from
these electrical systems is an incredibly important field to study and innovate in. One
method of transferring heat continuously with little maintenance on the system is by
using a device called a heat pipe. Heat pipes work through capillary action to draw
heat away from these electronics without any external interference.
Heat pipes are thin pipes, typically made of some highly conductive metal, which
contains a working fluid inside and a thin wicking material which facilitates the
capillary action. Figure 1 below shows a sectional view of a heat pipe [1]. ... Show

For heat pipes to work for a long time, the side exposed to the cold temperature
needs to have such a large capacity to absorb heat so that the process can run
indefinitely without changing anything on the heat pipe. This is an advantage that
NASA uses to draw heat away from it s satellites and other electronics in space. Due
to the incredibly low temperatures in space, these heat pipes can be used to remove
heat from electronic parts.
Heat pipes present a great opportunity to cool electronics as they offer a very high
thermal conductivity and act as a sort of thermal superconductor as they can
transfer heat at an extraordinary rate and with a large capacity. While using a heat
pipe, the capillary action combined with the material of the pipe itself presents up
to 90 times greater conductivity than just a solid copper pipe of the same size. The
constantly flowing liquid can provide a higher heat convection coefficient than the
conductivity would provide. Heat pipes are also much lighter weight than a solid
pipe which is absolutely vital to any space endeavor as reducing weight anywhere is
always a benefit.
The working fluid in a heat pipe greatly depends on the application and its operating
temperature range, as well as they type of material that the heat pipe is made out of.

Foods That Causes Gout
Gouts are a very painful form of arthritis, caused by the accumulation of uric acid
crystals in the joint space, and inflame the joints. These crystals only form when there
is excess amount of uric acid in the blood; uric acid (a waste product that is usually
filtered from the blood by the kidneys and expelled from the body through the
urine) is formed when the body breaks down some compounds called purine.
Purine has always been a part of your body, your body cells contain purine, and it

Key Ways Big Banks Can Accelerate Innovation
3 Ways Big Banks Can Accelerate Innovation
Banking is undergoing a revolution similar to the one seen on high street travel,
betting and book selling. Banks should be afraid, the disruption of financial services
has only just begun.
Do you know which bank is the winner of Disruptive Innovation in Banking award,
this year? The winner is not among any of the big established banks, but it is the
challenger bank from Germany, Fidor Bank. Most of the big banks have the
realisation that they are under severe pressure from many of these innovative
challenger banks. Atom Bank, a mobile first challenger bank, recently won a banking

Traditional banks should realise that a bank fintech startup connection has immense
potential for creating value for both sides. Banks gain innovation and technological

Some of the big Banks have already realised the power of fintech connection. For

Forest Observation Paper
In the North Carolinian piedmont, there are several different forest communities. The
main types are, loblolly/ slash pine forest, mesic forest, oak forest, and floodplain
forest (NC Wildlife 2015). Soil types, elevation, climate, and nutrient availability are
important components of determining forest types. There are also certain species,
considered indicators that help predict the type of forestcommunity. The change in
environmental factors and species distribution allow for different forest types
(Cortes, Islebe 2005). Measuring the environmental factors of a plot and identifying
the different species present can predict Forest types and is commonly done by land
and forest managers (Fortunel etc. Al 2014). This experiment tests different locations
of the NC piedmont, to help determine forest types in this area. Through looking at
different areas of the piedmont, I hypothesis there will be four different types of
forests, representing the most common types in this area. In addition, I predict soil
types and nutrients are important indicators of forest types.

Judith Deapitating Holofernes Essay
Judith Decapitating Holofernes by Trophime Bigot is an oil on panel painting.
There are numerous different elements of art incorporated into this painting. There
are no visible brush strokes as a result of the painter s attention to detail. The three
main figures and the drapes of the tent form a triangle. Judith s face is the most
illuminated and defined making her the central focus of the painting. The other
woman in profile in the painting is facing her adds to this effect. Judith s arms draw
the viewers focus down the gruesome beheading and horrified look of Holofernes.
Since his face is partially obscured by shadow, the painting s main focus is Judith.
Bigot had extreme attention to detail. There is little to no grain or brush... Show more

The 3 d effect is created by the layering of the 3 figures and overlapping their
different body parts. This is also emphasized by the use of shadows. The illusion of
space adds to the composition by invoking the viewer s imagination and leading them
to believe that the painting takes place somewhere dark and secretive.
There were multiple principles of design incorporated into the piece. Such as the rule
of thirds and triangular composition.
In order to create a sense of variety in the painting, Bigot utilizes his astounding
dexterity in his use of value, depth, and focal points.
There is a clear visual path for the viewer to follow when observing Bigot s painting
of Judith Decapitating Holofernes. Bigot utilizes triangular composition in order to
draw the viewers eye to scan all the different elements of the painting. The eye is
drawn to the candle not only because it is in the center of the painting, but also
because it is the most illuminated compared to the outer edges of the painting that
have a deep valued contrast. The viewer then focuses in Judith because she is the next
element with the most illumination. Her arms lead the viewer down to witness

How Does Shakespeare Show Love In As You Like It
Love in As You Like It
Throughout the centuries, men have pondered many great questions. Among these is
the question: What is love? There is no doubt that the greatest name in English
literature, Shakespeare, sought to answer this question for himself. Indeed,
Shakespeare recorded his answer in many of the sonnets and plays he wrote,
including As You Like It. As Shakespearelearned in seeking to answer this question,
love is many things, which in this play he observes through the characters of the play,
but most directly through Silvius:
It is to be all made of fantasy,
All made of passion and all made of wishes,
All adoration, duty, and observance,
All humbleness, all patience and impatience,
All purity, all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Risking his own life, he tells them not to eat any food, then explains why:
There is an old poor man,
Who after me hath many a weary step
Limp d in pure love: till he be first sufficed,
Oppress d with two weak evils, age and hunger,
I will not touch a bit (II.vii).
Orlando is not merely being selfless, he is being selfless to help out a servant, a
member of a lower social class. There are few names with such a reputation, and one
of them is the legendary Robin Hood. In this way Shakespeare shows the selflessness
of love.
Shakespeare through Orlando again shows selflessness, this time not for a loving
subordinate, but for his hateful brother. Orlando is walking through the forest, and
catches a glimpse of a wretched and ragged man, o ergrown with hair asleep at the
base of an old oak tree (IV.iii). A snake crawls down from the man, then slithers
under a bush, where a lioness crouches, ready to leap at the first movement of the
man. Orlando see the man to be none other than his elder brother. Twice did he turn
his back and purpos d so [to leave him there]/ But kindness, nobler ever than
revenge ... Made him give battle to the lioness (IV.iii). Orlando chooses to save his
brother at great risk to himself, and is indeed injured in the process. By placing the
good, and even more paramount, the life, of another before the his own good and
life, Orlando shows the greatest possible display of selfless love that he can. It is
interesting to note
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polymerization Of

PMMA is routinely delivered by emulsion polymerization, arrangement
polymerization, and mass polymerization. By and large, radical start is utilized
(counting living polymerization strategies), yet anionic polymerization of PMMA
can likewise be performed. To deliver 1 kg (2.2 lb) of PMMA, around 2 kg (4.4 lb) of
petroleum is required. PMMA produced by radical polymerization (all business

Multinational Startup Spotify Ab Company
Introduction Headquartered in London and Stockholm, Spotify Ltd. is based upon
the Swedish startup Spotify AB, founded in 2006 by two entrepreneurs Daniel Ek
and Martin Lorentzon and launched in 2008. In the digital music industry, the
streaming market, which represents 10% of the sector, has grown by 51.3% in
2013 while revenues from the download market (iTunes, Amazon) has fallen by
2.1%. Spotify perfectly illustrates this superior growth as the leader in terms of
innovation in this market. Considered to be one of the 10 most innovative
companies in the U.K. in 2014 by Fast Company , Spotify with almost 50 million
active users and 12.5 million paying subscribers, is considered to be worth at around
4 billion dollars and often rumoured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marketing Environment A.The Macroenvironment: PEST Analysis We shall
see how Spotify integrates this broader set of forces in its strategy. Political
factors: We believed that if we could build a service which was better than piracy,
then we could convince people to stop illegal file sharing, and start consuming
music legally again (Ek, 2013). It tries to attract customers who previously relied
on illegal options for their music needs. Digital piracy is the single most important
factor restraining development of the music business. Governments were involved
to fight against it and established laws such as Digital Economy Act in the U.K.
The turnaround dates back to 2009 when these anti piracy laws combined with The
Pirate Bay trial inclined customers to try the new Spotify platform. It has
successfully helped curb the illegal downloading of music since it does not allow
you to download the track. If you want to own the track, you will be redirected to a
legal vendor. Therefore Spotify claims to have reduced the number of people who
pirated music by 25% between 2009 and 2011. As such the streaming industry helps
governments to combat piracy but in the medium; to long term some political forces
could play against this industry: pressure from governments to ensure that the laws
are created to protect
Necessity in O Brein s The Things they Carried Essay
RR The Things They Carried
What s More Important?
Necessity can usually be described as something or someone that is needed.
However, this word has different meanings and is based solely on what the
individual requires for his or her survival. These needs may increase or become
distorted as he or she finds themselves in a life or death situation such as war.
Circumstances may also provoke an average person to become emotionally
distressed and thus the desire to hold on to all that he can. Despite the fact that these
necessary items or ideas that he clings to may impair the person, abandoning them
may seem impossible. This is the case in Tim O Brien s, The Things They Carried.

For Jimmy Cross, he humped pictures of Martha, a junior at Mount Sebastian
College in New Jersey (318) and the letters she writes him. O Brien highlights these
items as special things that Lt. Jimmy Cross carries because they symbolize all he
has left behind and hopes to someday return to. Additionally, the letters he receives
from Martha are light in weight, only ten ounce, (315) but prove to be a heavy burden.
However, Lt. Cross fails to realize his responsibility is not in keeping his
photographs and letters safe, but in leading his men safely. Because of his
delusional dreams of Martha, he is unable to prevent the death of Ted Lavender. In
dealing with such a guilt and regret, Lt Cross is forced to give up the one thing he
loved more than anything, more than his men, (318) his beloved Martha. He forces
himself to burn everything that was Martha, her pictures, the letters, and pebble she
sent, because she belonged to another world, which was not quite real...because he
realized she did not love him and never would (323).
By burning his special things of Martha, Lt. Cross is able to break free from the
fantasy world and return to the role he was trained to do. He was now determined
to perform his duties firmly and without negligence (327). With Lavender s death in
mind, he becomes aware of immediate dangers that may arise and begins to impose
strict field discipline (327) to prevent death. Lt Cross reminded
Cars In America Research Paper
The automobile has reigned supreme as the top transportational vehicle in
America for over a century. It provides people with a quick and simple way to get
where they are going. However, many people believe that the automobile should be
dethroned. This is because the effects of cars are starting to overpower the
benefits. But, automobiles are a large part of the American lifestyle. Cars were and
still are a huge part of the economy, cars are the only option for many Americans,
and cars are the fastest and easiest ways to reach one s destination. For many
Americans, taking away their car would be like taking their freedom along with it.
To begin, automobiles should remain a top priority for America because they are a
huge part of the economy.

Daisy Miller And The Story Of An Hour Patriarchy
In Daisy Miller by Henry James and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, both
authors examine the influences of patriarchy on women. However, the differing
lengths and styles affect the meaning and the impression that the stories leave on
the reader. In Daisy Miller: A Study , Winterbourne constantly judges an American
girl, Daisy, on her lack of concern for the rules of society. The story is written over
an extensive amount of time as Winterbourne forms his views of her, which allows
the audience to steadily shape their own opinions of Daisy. However, readers were
not able to view the thoughts of Daisy, while in the The Story of an Hour, the feelings
and reflections of the womanare divulged. In The Story of an Hour , an ill woman is...

Cornelius Vanderbilt is one of the five tycoons of America. He was able to use
both wit and his entrepreneurial skills in order to create a very successful career
and legacy. Starting off from the very beginning, young Vanderbilt was able to
start his own business. At the age of sixteen, Vanderbilt decided to start his own
ferry service with the loan he received by working through his Mother. With the
one hundred he was able to obtain, by clearing and planting eight acre field,
Vanderbilt purchased two small vessels and carried freight and passengers from
Manhattan to Staten Island. By being able to utilize his own earnings in order to

As for Gibbons and Vanderbilt, the two lowered their rates, applied services, and
also tried out new technologies which all help lead them to become hugely profitable.
And in 1829, Vanderbilt left Gibbons to increase his own business.
Vanderbilt created his own steamship company. With a fleet of boats and a budget of
$30,000 or roughly $775,000 today, Vanderbilt successfully established a company
along the Hudson River. He used his usual tactic, reduced fare prices, to stir away
any competitors. He then expanded between New York and New England and Long
Island. What helped his business to flourish was through customer s loyalty. Because
Vanderbilt was known to have reliable, safe and cheap steamboats, Cornelius
Vanderbilt s company skyrocketed. In 1830, Vanderbilt entered the Hudson River
market and competed against Steamboat Association. Due to Vanderbilt s success,
Steamboat Association purchased his Hudson River company for $150,000 in total.
Because of the success he had, Vanderbilt went to Long Island for another round. His
business tactic and customer loyalty served him in the right way.
The Gold Rush, where many go to California in hopes for gold, allowed Vanderbilt
to begin an ocean going service, between West Coast and Central America. At the
time, Clipper ship was predominantly the best type of transportation. However
Saving the Belize Barrier Reef
Off the Caribbean coast of Belize, between Mexico and Guatemala, lies the Belize
Barrier Reef, the largest reef in the northern and western hemispheres. The reef is
home to many species of coral reefs, coastal lagoons, seagrass meadows, and
mangrove forests. It provides a habitat for a large number of fish species and many
endangered animals. With global warming issues, local activities, and mass tourism
threatening the very existence of the reef, the United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization (UNESCO ) has made the Belize Barrier Reef part of the
World Heritage list, which preserves and protects the cultural and natural heritage

reef decline is increasingly more difficult (Gonzalez, 2009, p 1). Individual Support
Each individual has the power to contribute to the preservation of endangered areas
such as the Belize Barrier Reef. The easiest and most common form of contribution is
a monetary donation to an organization that supports this cause. Preservation efforts
cost the government large sums of money every year. Donations will help to offset
the costs of these projects. A couple of organizations that support the preservation of
the Belize Barrier Reef are the Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute, and
the United Nations Foundation.
Triple Crossbow Research Paper
Imagine thousands of arrows flying at the enemy, giant triple crossbows that shoot
metal arrows over a mile, gunpowder propelled missiles, a crossbow that fires like a
machine gun, pinpoint accurate catapults that can take down specific targets, and
bombs exploding all over the ground. One might think that this is ancient Europejust
as one might think that the best warriors in the ancient world were Europeans such
as Anglo Saxons, French, and Greeks. However, this is an ancient battlefield of
China. The reality is that the European warriors were always trying to catch up to
the Chinese. In fact, the Chinese made advances in sword making, archery, siege
weapons, and ballistics long before Europeans had grasped those ideas.

The Europeans invented the trebuchet in the late Medieval Ages. It took many men
to load and fire the weapon, but the trebuchet could accurately launch projectiles
from a great distance, almost one mile. However, the triple crossbow is a true siege
weapon of mass destruction. It was first depicted in an ancient document called the
Essentials Of the Military Arts, which was completed in the early Song Dynasty
(1043 AD). With a total length of 7.62 meters, this colossal weapon used three
bows to shoot a single bolt. Despite its size, the Chinese generals would mount it on
a pivot that made it extremely mobile and versatile, allowing it to turn in a full 360
degrees. According the Essentials Of the Military Arts, the triple crossbow would
be mounted on top of a tower and the bolts fired were massive full iron and steel
arrows almost the size of the triple crossbow itself, which could be fired over a
mile. The image of a massive iron arrow flying at high speeds and destroying a
building into rubble around the enemies could create fear within the ranks. The fear
the bow instilled could cause an army or town to surrender before any actual fighting
begins. As Sun Tzu said, a skillful leader subdues the enemy s troops without any
fighting. These brilliant engineers created the Triple crossbow at the same time as the
trebuchet, but it had a more versatile range of motion and could send projectiles
further than the trebuchet therefor making it more useful on the

  • 1. Soccer Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Soccer Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that require a delicate balance of creativity, research, and insightful analysis. To start, soccer is a multifaceted sport with a rich history, global significance, and a diverse range of topics to explore. Narrowing down the focus and choosing a specific angle can be a daunting task, as there are numerous aspects such as the game's evolution, cultural impact, tactical strategies, and the influence of renowned players. Moreover, delving into the intricate details of soccer requires a deep understanding of the sport, its rules, and its evolving dynamics. Researching statistics, historical moments, and contemporary trends is essential to provide a comprehensive overview. The challenge lies in presenting this information in a way that is not only informative but also engaging for the reader. Another hurdle is striking the right balance between factual content and personal insights. While it's crucial to include relevant data and scholarly perspectives, injecting a personal touch can make the essay more compelling. Articulating thoughts coherently, organizing ideas logically, and maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout the essay adds another layer of complexity. Furthermore, addressing the vast audience that encompasses both avid soccer enthusiasts and those less familiar with the sport requires a nuanced approach. Finding a tone that captivates both demographics while avoiding clichГ©s and overused expressions can be a demanding task. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Soccer Essays" demands a meticulous approach that combines knowledge, creativity, and effective communication. It makes us successful as a whole but when we damage it we damage everything we need and work to grow and protect. By doing a couple things for Greeley s watershed we as a whole can start to change the pollution in our watershed. The plan is to use water barrels to collect the water that runs off the greenhouse at Northridge high school into gutters and the fills the barrels. It will be ran from a water barrels around the greenhouses. The water will run off of the roof section of the greenhouse and into a gutter system that will be added so the water can make it into the barrels and fill them up. • 3. Summary Of The Bean Trees By Barbara Kingsolver The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, tells the story of how life is all about the journey, and not always the destination. The book revolves around one main character, Taylor Greer. Her life has not always been easy, and one day she decides to start over and leave. The reader follows her journey, and eventually meets other characters like Lou Ann Ruiz and Esperanza. These three women all want a clean slate to start a new life. When their journeys come together, a community of women forms that is full of support and love. Kingsolver tells the story of three women, and how their lives drastically change. Each journey is represented by their own symbol; something that explains these journeys with just one object. In The Bean Trees, three main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As she continues to drive, she sees the beauty of Arizona, and fate is left behind. The whole scene was too goofy to be real...Whether my car conked out or not, I made up my mind to live in Arizona (Kingsolver 47 48). She looks to the sky, and sees these beautiful, pink clouds up in the sky. They are Taylor s deciding factor. These clouds are a symbol of Taylor s journey truly beginning. This is what made her decide to stay in Arizona. The scenery was something she had never experienced before, and she decided, no matter what, that she wanted to be in Arizona and make it her new home. This is a big step for Taylor because she was never one for staying places, but these clouds were certainty to her, and she knew that this would be where her community would be formed. This is where she faces all her fears. She not only gets a job in a tire shop, but becomes a mother. If she did not push fate, she would have never ended up in
  • 4. The History Of The Big Ear Radio Telescope Have you ever pondered what may lie beyond our solar system? Perhaps you ve decided that there is no way anything could be out there, in the empty, seemingly endless void we call space. However, perhaps there is other life out there, life more advanced than us, perhaps life just now exiting what to us would be the stone age, the possibilities are truly infinite. Personally, I believe there are other beings out there in the vast expanse. On August 15th, 1977 at 11:16 PM EDT the Big Ear Radio Telescope located at the Ohio State University received an unknown radio transmission that came from somewhere seemingly within the Sagittarius Constellation, bearing the hallmarks of extraterrestrial origin. Eighteen years prior to this, Two Cornwell... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, we can take a look at the Fermi Paradox. The Fermi Paradox states whether or not we are alone in our galaxy, and if not, where is everyone? In life there are filters, or rather, great barriers for life to overcome. For example, some filters we may have to go through in the future include Nuclear War, and Climate change. Some filters that may explain why we haven t found any signs of advanced civilization may include things such as Advanced Technology exists, but when activated, it ends up destroying the planet. The last words of every advanced civilization would be something like This new technology will solve all our problems once I push this button! If this is the case, then chances are, we ourselves could be much closer to the end than we are to the beginning of human existence. Another filter could be that there is a type 3 civilization (Simply put, a civilization with some of/the most advanced technology imaginable) somewhere out there, and when

What weapons were better, how fast could the weapon could be loaded these were all things people had to look at with weapons in the civil war. There were weapons that you could personally buy or you could just get the standard weapon they would give you when you to go to war which was a standard musket.so whos weapons were better? The Minie ball was a huge improvement it was designed to expand while traveling along the rifle barrel, it increased muzzle velocity as well as causing spin to the bullet, making its accuracy and range far better. It was made of soft lead, it was a little smaller than the gunbore, making it easy to load in combat. Many people feel that the reason there were so many casualties in the war was due to the minie ball. The minie ball was used by both side confederate and the north, but the north had more ammunition. Cannons were also a big factor in the war also there were quite a few types of cannons, including the 6 pounder gun, M1857 12 pounder, 12 pounder Howitzer, 24 pounder Howitzer, 10 pounder Parrott rifle, 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and the 20 pounder Parrott rifle. Smoothbore cannon which were cannons without rifling in the barrel were still used, falling into two categories, guns and howitzers, for firing at higher trajectories and shorter ranges. • 6. The Conflict Of The West Bank And Gaza Strip One State, Two States Few, if any, modern conflicts are as complex as the Arab Israeli conflict. Specifically, the political situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip has led to bloodshed, political high wire acts, and cycles of hope and disappointment for decades. Consensus has generally leaned towards advocated a two state solution for the conflict, in which the Israelremains a Jewish state, and the Palestinian Arabs establish their own country carved from currently Israeli occupied territories. This solution has become more infeasible, not more attainable, efforts to find a lasting peace have occurred. The main alternative, a one state solution, in which one nation takes full control of the Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While UN Security Council Resolution 242 called for Israel to remove itself from these areas and return to its pre 1967 War borders (Farsakh 2005), Israel continued its presence in the region. In the years that have followed, numerous solutions have been proposed to solve the crisis and to bring a lasting peace and sense of stability to the area. The solution most supported up to now has been the two state solution. In this solution, parts of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (likely the full area in the latter) would become part of an independent, self governing Palestinian state, while the rest of the area would become Israeli territory. With this, Palestinians would have a nation state and could chart their own political and cultural course. Most nations and international organizations have lent their support to this idea, including the US, the UN, and Israel and Palestinian Authority (Sanger 2016), forming the basis for most peace talks aiming to resolve the conflict. The question that now remains is why has this solution not yet been achieved? The disagreement on the borders of each state remains one of the primary roadblocks to achieving the two state solution. There exists no consensus on which land would belong to Israel and which to an independent Palestinian state. One complicating issue in

Political Science 412: International Political Economy The Pennsylvania State University Yun Shik Park 07.28.2015 Current Account Sustainability Does a current account deficit matter? Yun Shik Park Abstract: Sometimes a country will export their goods to another country, rather than importing them and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of current account in national economic development. As the world becomes more interdependent and globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a country s income and expenditure records the current account. The current account is the point at which international economics collide with political reality. When countries hold large deficits, businesses, trade unions, politicians, and countries are often quick to blame their opponents and make changes regarding unfair practices. Some economists argue that A large current account deficit is not a cause of concern if the fiscal accounted are balanced, Lawson s Doctrine. Therefore, we don t need to worry about the current account. However, the paper researched this matter for a more in depth understanding of the economic concept of current account deficits. • 11. Argument Synthesis Essay In the article, the Burning Question, the issue of biomass energy via wood pellets was brought to question. This subject has deeply divided scientists, primarily from the chemistry and environmental science disciplines, economists, and politicians. Currently the use of wood pellets for energy, under the European Union, is classified as a carbon neutral fuel. The argument for this designation lies in the regeneration of trees to take up the carbon released from burning past trees. However, many scientists call foul, basing their argument on the substantial lag period between burning trees and the regeneration of them. This period has led many to worry that such actions will worsen the current global warmingcrisis. Biomass energy plants produce,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did know that, especially in the United States, wood pellets were an increasingly common fuel for winter heating. I was not aware that pellets were also being used for the creation of electricity in Europe, but I suppose the two are quite similar. I did find the argument quite interesting; however, it was a quite similar one to that of many environmental vs. economic gain based arguments before. What I did find intriguing, though, was how the data, timeline, numbers, and conclusion could differ so vastly based on which side of the argument a scientist was on. So, I guess what I learned from this article was that there is an emerging international wood pellet trade; however, the arguments are similar to those that I have been previously exposed to, with this argument being slightly more in depth. Two things that were not discussed in this article, which I think are pretty crucial, were that wood pellets are a form of renewable energy, if maintained responsibly, and that the ash from the wood pellets, depending on their temperature of combustion, can be used as fertilizer on fields. My personal view on this topic is in favor of the use of wood pellet fired power plants as long as the harvest of timber is highly managed with programs for reforestation. However, I am opposed to the designation of wood pellets as a carbon neutral fuel. The substantial lag period of over 40 years and the augmented production

In 1914, within a week of the Declaration of War, all German Australian citizens were declared enemy aliens and required by law to report to government offices to report their residential addresses (NSW Migration Heritage Centre 2011). By February 1915, the definition of enemy alien came to include those born in Australia, but with parents or grandparents of German or Austrian decent. Due to the number of citizens now classified as enemy aliens , it became impossible to intern all of them, and the policy of selective internment was aimed at leaders of the German Australian community, including high ranking officials of
  • 14. Merit Pay For Performance Plan Executive Summary Merit pay is a short term, pay for performance plan, with a typical life span of three to four years, in which employers provide rewards, usually in terms of a raise for past performance, for employees who perform their jobs effectively, which will lead to higher performing employees which will in turn lead to a better work environment and higher overall productivity. The concept of merit pay is most often mentioned in the context of educational and/or government civil service reform. With a merit based pay system, the employer pays, with the idea that the employer will reward more productive employees with merit increases. This concept came about in an attempt to sustain high performance levels in the workplace linking merit increases, or increases in base pay, to employee performance ratings, which are taken at the end of a performance year, usually by a direct supervisor. Due to the ever increasing changes of supply and demand in business, in order to remain feasible, the merit pay system is expected to change consistently with the needs presented to the companies, whether it be foreign competition, consumer demands, producer limitations, etc. Pay for performance plans are formal compensation systems that are directly related to organizational or individual performance. The United States Department of Labor defined pay for performance as a raise in pay based on a set of criteria put in place by employers, and notes that the Fair Labor Standards Act,

Allograft Sterilization Essay Response/Recommendation: A combined method of allograft sterilization appears to be the best method to reduce the possibility of viral, bacterial and fungal infection as well as preserve the bio mechanical properties of the graft. Sterilization methods should involve a low dose of gamma radiation ( 25 KGy), chemical sterilization and antibiotic soaking. The use of radio protective solutions (i.e. propylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, mannitol and trehalose) can be effective in reducing the risk of free radical attack to the collagen from the gamma radiation. Electron based radiation in combination with tissue protective measure (i.e. low temperature, carbon dioxide) can be an alternative method of sterilization, but further studies are required to validate this procedure. Strength of Recommendation: Moderate Rationale: Septic arthritis after ACL reconstruction is a rare event, occurring in 0.14 1.8% of cases.1 3 Several studies have demonstrated a lower rate of deep infection after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) using allograft compered to hamstring autograft tendons and equal possibilities with the use of bone patellar tendon bone (BPTB) autograft.4 8 The increasing use of primary allograft ACLR during the last few decades9 can be ... In this case, social class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei, 2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to persist among individuals who belong to different social classes. Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college /university degrees in
  • 17. Cultural Dimensions And Its Impact On The Corporate World Cultural differences and dimensions are very important when it comes to the corporate world. There have been numerous studies done on individual differences that are seeking out to identify the reasons why people behave in which the way they do. In the United States, it is important to understand each dimensionand which cultural dimension we focus on most. In this paper, the five cultural dimensions and how they are implemented in the corporate world will be discussed. Cultureis defined as, The learned, shared way of doing things in a particular society (Uhl Bien, Schermerhorn, Osborne, 2014, p.44). As referred by Geert Hofstede, culture is the, software of the mind . Hofstede is referring to our minds as, hardware since it is universal to all humans. However, the, software of culture varies from each one with many differences. We were born into a society that teaches you culture rather than being born into it. Since we learn from a very young age about culture this helps up to distinguish boundaries between different groups of people. In each culture there are a set of values and these are important when dealing with organizational behavior. Uhl Bien, Schermerhorn, Osborne (2014) state that the way in which people think about work, risk, wealth, achievement, and gain may influence their approach to work and relationships (p.44). There is a term known as cultural quotient which describes how someone is able to work effectively across cultures

The Seventh Man , Moral Logic of Survival Guilt , and The Key to Disaster Survival all show how people are affected by survival. From what I ve read from the stories most people feel guilty after survival. It s not all guiltthere are many emotions that go with survival. In The Seventh Man the narrator loses a friend that he felt he could have saved. The man and his friend K were down by the ocean while they were in the eye of a huge storm. K was looking at stuff thrown on the beach by the storm, the man was watching for big waves and high winds. The man soon felt the wind start to kick up and saw a big wave getting closer to the shore. He yelled for K, but K wasn t listening he was almost in his own world. The man started to run, but stopped and yelled for K again this time K heard him and started running but it was too late the wave crashed over K onto the shore. The wave took K out into the cold ocean water. They never found K s body after that. The man couldn t forgive himself for what happened to K and liced his life in fear of losing or hurting people. In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt the narrator explains why people feel guilty after surviving something someone else didn t or not being there for someone to help. In addition, the key purpose behind this monumental movement was voicing their believe rights in social problems (such as industrial conditions) and even in political issues (such as women suffrage). The Progressive movement was a time of booming economic growth. Industrial production fulrished, tremendous increase in population, and the consumer marketplace expanded. Through a series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the audience. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs. Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of irony to different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film, sounds in particular shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for further interpretation. In the opening

  • 30. The Purpose Of Copyright Laws The purpose of copyright laws in modern society, as confirmed by Darrell Panethiere (2005) is to protect the creative rights of authors, performers, publishers, broadcasters, and many others whose livelihoods depend upon the recognition of rights (p. 1, par. 1) for their intellectual properties. In the contemporary business world, most companies that sell products of some kind depend on other firms for the design, production, and distribution of the product to make it available for selling. Such sales are often either wholesale to retailers or retail to consumers. Violations of the copyrights of intellectual property(IP), destroys the chain of commerce reflected in these different industries; which also includes the loss of employment to workers in each industry. In short, copyrightlaws protect the motivation of creativity, the investment of commerce, plus the employment of a labor force. WHY COPYRIGHT LAWS? As recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, n.d.), in the Protection of Industrial Property (p. 4, par. 2) during the Paris Convention of 1883 as well as in the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (p. 4, par. 2) during the Berne Convention of 1886, both acknowledges the valuation developed and emerging societies attribute to intellectual properties. The management of heat transfer away from these electrical systems is an incredibly important field to study and innovate in. One method of transferring heat continuously with little maintenance on the system is by using a device called a heat pipe. Heat pipes work through capillary action to draw heat away from these electronics without any external interference. Heat pipes are thin pipes, typically made of some highly conductive metal, which contains a working fluid inside and a thin wicking material which facilitates the capillary action. Figure 1 below shows a sectional view of a heat pipe [1]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For heat pipes to work for a long time, the side exposed to the cold temperature needs to have such a large capacity to absorb heat so that the process can run indefinitely without changing anything on the heat pipe. This is an advantage that NASA uses to draw heat away from it s satellites and other electronics in space. Due to the incredibly low temperatures in space, these heat pipes can be used to remove heat from electronic parts. Heat pipes present a great opportunity to cool electronics as they offer a very high thermal conductivity and act as a sort of thermal superconductor as they can transfer heat at an extraordinary rate and with a large capacity. While using a heat pipe, the capillary action combined with the material of the pipe itself presents up to 90 times greater conductivity than just a solid copper pipe of the same size. The constantly flowing liquid can provide a higher heat convection coefficient than the conductivity would provide. Heat pipes are also much lighter weight than a solid pipe which is absolutely vital to any space endeavor as reducing weight anywhere is always a benefit. The working fluid in a heat pipe greatly depends on the application and its operating temperature range, as well as they type of material that the heat pipe is made out of. Silver is

The main types are, loblolly/ slash pine forest, mesic forest, oak forest, and floodplain forest (NC Wildlife 2015). Soil types, elevation, climate, and nutrient availability are important components of determining forest types. There are also certain species, considered indicators that help predict the type of forestcommunity. The change in environmental factors and species distribution allow for different forest types (Cortes, Islebe 2005). Measuring the environmental factors of a plot and identifying the different species present can predict Forest types and is commonly done by land and forest managers (Fortunel etc. Al 2014). This experiment tests different locations of the NC piedmont, to help determine forest types in this area. Through looking at different areas of the piedmont, I hypothesis there will be four different types of forests, representing the most common types in this area. There is no doubt that the greatest name in English literature, Shakespeare, sought to answer this question for himself. Indeed, Shakespeare recorded his answer in many of the sonnets and plays he wrote, including As You Like It. As Shakespearelearned in seeking to answer this question, love is many things, which in this play he observes through the characters of the play, but most directly through Silvius: It is to be all made of fantasy, All made of passion and all made of wishes, All adoration, duty, and observance, All humbleness, all patience and impatience, All purity, all ... Orlando is not merely being selfless, he is being selfless to help out a servant, a member of a lower social class. There are few names with such a reputation, and one of them is the legendary Robin Hood. In this way Shakespeare shows the selflessness of love. Shakespeare through Orlando again shows selflessness, this time not for a loving subordinate, but for his hateful brother. Orlando is walking through the forest, and catches a glimpse of a wretched and ragged man, o ergrown with hair asleep at the base of an old oak tree (IV.iii). A snake crawls down from the man, then slithers under a bush, where a lioness crouches, ready to leap at the first movement of the man. Orlando see the man to be none other than his elder brother. Twice did he turn his back and purpos d so [to leave him there]/ But kindness, nobler ever than revenge ... Made him give battle to the lioness (IV.iii). Orlando chooses to save his brother at great risk to himself, and is indeed injured in the process. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Europeans invented the trebuchet in the late Medieval Ages. It took many men to load and fire the weapon, but the trebuchet could accurately launch projectiles from a great distance, almost one mile. However, the triple crossbow is a true siege weapon of mass destruction. It was first depicted in an ancient document called the Essentials Of the Military Arts, which was completed in the early Song Dynasty (1043 AD). With a total length of 7.62 meters, this colossal weapon used three bows to shoot a single bolt. Despite its size, the Chinese generals would mount it on a pivot that made it extremely mobile and versatile, allowing it to turn in a full 360 degrees. According the Essentials Of the Military Arts, the triple crossbow would be mounted on top of a tower and the bolts fired were massive full iron and steel arrows almost the size of the triple crossbow itself, which could be fired over a mile. The image of a massive iron arrow flying at high speeds and destroying a building into rubble around the enemies could create fear within the ranks. The fear the bow instilled could cause an army or town to surrender before any actual fighting begins. As Sun Tzu said, a skillful leader subdues the enemy s troops without any fighting. These brilliant engineers created the Triple crossbow at the same time as the trebuchet, but it had a more versatile range of motion and could send projectiles further than the trebuchet therefor making it more useful on the
