2. Example Of Sojourner Truth Speech
Sojourner Truth is a resonant name in both the women s and civil rights movements.
As an African American woman, Sojourner Truth existed in the intersection of two
largely oppressed groups and went on to become a prominent abolitionist and
women s rights activist in a transformative period for pre Civil war America. Truth
is most well known for the powerful speech she delivered at the 1851 Women s
Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio. Her speech was a clever, compelling, and bold
performance that gives us insight into perspectives of the women, especially Africa
American Women, of this era. Analyzing her speech transports us into the world of
abolitionist and feminist movements and provides a frightening yet affirming
example of how similar these thoughts can be to present day movements.
Sojourner s importance lays in the diverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take for example, the case of Barack Obama, former President of the United States.
There existed a time when African Americans had no place in democratic society,
they were not even included in calculation of state populations. Fast forwarding from
18th century, it is dramatic that, not only, African Americans are included in the
democratic process but also that the United States voted into office an African
American President. In a similar light, we can look at the past presidential election
to see how female roles have expanded since the 18th century. Although she was
not elected, Hillary Clinton was the first women to ever run for president.
Compared to 18th century America, not only have women gained the right to vote,
but they have also greatly expanded their roles from homemakers to become
politicians, legislators, professors, doctors and all sorts of other professions. If we
went back in time to tell the people of Akron, Ohio in 1851 they would hardly
believe such a radical
3. New England Colonies Essay
The New England Colonies
The colonies of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut
made up the New England colonies. Most of the Europeans in the New England
colonies were there to escape the religious persecution they faced in England. They
practiced a lot of different things in these colonies compared to the middle and
southern and colonies of colonial america. The New England colonists, except for
Rhode Island, were predominantly Puritans who practiced very strict religious lives.
The civil government in these colonies dealt quite harshly with those who dared to
disagree with the Puritan church. People were being exiled for speaking out against
Puritanism. They whipped baptists. They cropped, or cut off, the ears of Quakers.
They even went as far as to hang Quaker missionaries. They did all of this in an
order to proselytize and convert people to be Puritan. Laws in the New England
colonies made everyone attend a house of worship pay taxes that would be used to
fund the salaries of the ministers. Government in the New England colonies were
based upon elements of theocracy. The leaders and officials got their authority from
a divine guidance and their civil authority was to enforce religious conformity.
Citizens that didn t follow the Puritan s religious beliefs were considered to be a
threat to the civil order and would get severely punished for it. The New England
churches functioned a lot differently from the churches back in England.
4. The Religious Cult Of Cults
Most of our thoughts about cults today are often a misconception of ideas that
derive from our imagination. Practices that resemble a strange ritual or ceremony
would certainly be fitting. Most of our culture could potentially spot a religious
cult if the anomalies, or strange behaviors were evident. This simply is not a good
way to identify cults today though. These groups are no longer apparent to the
naked eye. Their systems of religious veneration and highly devoted groups blend
in with our everyday living. These members live in communities. Some shop at the
same designer stores we shop in, and rally for the same home sports team. These
members are relatable. They are intelligent. They have great careers and enjoy
some of the same hobbies as you and I. They teach our children in public schools,
sit on the board for our local and National governments, prescribe us medications
when we are ill. They blend right in. We need to guard our hearts and minds from
these groups and gracefully proclaim the solid foundations of Gods word. The only
way to do this is to understand how these cults work and how to defend God s word
effectively. To understand these groups one must understand the specific
characteristics that they possess. If we simply describe a cult as a religious group,
then all religious groups would fit the classifications of a cult. However, there are no
grey areas when determining the characteristics of a cult. These cults dismiss a proper
relationship to the

The Representation of Women in Pretty Woman, Thelma and Louise, and Hollywood
in General
In this piece of coursework I will be writing an essay on how women are
represented in media in general and also in the films Pretty Woman and Thelma and
Louise. I will also be writing about how films usually use stereotypes which gives a
judgement of a type of person or a group of people which may not true.
In these two films women are represented as housewives/sex objects, for example in
Pretty Woman Vivien was on the bed half naked the camera, show a close up taking
in her body which makes a sexy scene and usually in Hollywood films they use this
technique most of the time. For example they ve used ... Show more content on

Pretty Women is a fairy tale romance film. The reason why I have used this genre
type is because that it wasn t an complicated film, and also had an happy ending
where everyone ended up happy, and having what they wanted just like what would
of happened in a fairy tale story. Also in Pretty Woman they have used quite a lot of
stereotypes (judgement of someone that may not be true) to describe characters. For
example Vivien was dressed up like a prostitute and went into an expensive designer
clothes shop, where the workers told her to get out because they thought she didn t
have enough money for the clothes in there.
Thelma and Louise is about two main female characters who want to change there
lifestyles. One of the female characters murders her husband and does a runaway
with the other female character to start a new lifestyle. On this ran away they have
an adventures road trip, where lots of interesting things happen to them on their
way to their new lifestyle. Thelma and Louise is a feminist road movie film. The
reason why I have used this genre type is because the film is mainly taken on the
road, and also the women are after there rights and want to be treated equal. Also in
Thelma and Louise they haven t used as much stereotypes as they have used in Pretty
Woman because Thelma and Louise was a feminist film.

6. The History Of Ballet
Martha Graham once said, Dance is the hidden language of the soul. Despite what
many people may think, ballet is well known across many of nations all over the
world. Ballet has been around for hundreds years, and has a very important meaning
to many people. It would be a satisfying presumption to think that balletcould change
the lives of many people for many years to come. Ballet tells a story, it originated in
France, and there are international ballet companies; this is what makes the history of
ballet interesting.
Many people think that ballet originated in France, since the word ballet itself is a
french word. Atlanta Ballet say, Ballet, as we know it today, began during the
Renaissance around the year 1500 in Italy. When ballet ... Show more content on

Watching a danceis just like reading a story or a book. ...so that by the time the
whole story has been told, even though it s already a well known story, an audience
may feel like they ve never seen it before. That s the real secret of telling a story in
dance. Because of the myriad of moments and textures that a dance can be made
out of, it s like a new story every time it s told. (A Light in the Dark, Reinking and

victims of the holocaust felt during the period of World War II (Remembrances
Holocaust Ballet). The Dance Dialogue says, ...most of our most popular ballets fall
into the narrative ballet bracket, in that they tell a story, but is the storyline conveyed
through the actual ballet steps? Or is it through the other dramatic devices that go to
making up a Ballet ? If someone thinks about it long enough, they would realize that
any motion or body movement helps enhance or add to a story being told. The
Thodos performers make Reinking and Thodos kinetic and technical synthesis of
drama and motion seem like the most natural thing in the world. (A Light in the

7. Cerrec Dentistry
Most people, over their lifetime, will end up losing and replacing at least one tooth. A
chipped tooth or a broken tooth normally means multiple trips to the dentist. Multiple
trips mean more hassle taking appointments, traveling to the clinic, getting more
needles poked in the gums, and so on. No one wants to waste more time than
necessary. Fortunately, skilled and experienced dentists in Tysons Corner at
SmilePerfectors perform the CEREC Dentistry. The CEREC Dentistry allows a
convenient one sitting treatment.
CEREC, an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics or
CEramic REConstruction, is one of the modern dentistry techniques that utilize CAD

The food security of some developing countries remain stable with sufficient food to
sustain the nations people. Many countries will continue depending on international
trade to ensure their food security. The fight against hunger targets and deliberate
action in the form of comprehensive social services, including food assistance, health
and sanitation, as well as education and training; with a special focus on the most
vulnerable.Climate change and increased biofuel production represent major risks for
long term food security.
Australia environmental challenges
The level of food scarcity in Australia is very low due to the availability of food.
The volume of water available is determined mainly by rainfall. Rainfall is variable
and in recent times many parts of Australia have experienced prolonged periods of
drought. Water storage in dams and aquifers (underground storage) is important to
secure water supplies for human use. Most of the water consumed in Australia is by
the agriculture industry, which accounted for nearly two thirds (65%) of total water
consumed in 2004 05. Reduced water quality and flows can affect the agricultural
and tourism industries and damage the plants and animals that rely on the water for
food and habitat. Climate change, urban expansion and soil erosion challenges
Australias food production as due to climate change, the water availability can be
deducted. Urban expansion and soil erosion can create less land to grow food for a

9. What Is The Purpose Of Lies My Teacher Told Me
History is almost always written by the winners. As a result, the details of pivotal
historical events are often washed as to prevent the dirty, less flattering details to
rise to the surface. It is why we need books such as Lies My Teacher Told Me. by
James W. Loewen to uncover and expose the propogandic style teachings of high
school textbooks. In his book, he has detailed his writings that are intended to elicit a
thought provoking question is our curriculum geared toward immortalizing the great
achievements of our nation while keeping the dark, checkered deeds hidden? That is
the purpose of his dogma, and this analysis we will uncover what exactly happened
that prompted Loewen to release such an argumentative book, as well as weather or
not he is right.
We will begin by analysing why Lowen wrote this book. From what has been detailed
in the introduction, Loewen states that the process of teaching American History has
been whitewashed the achievements of non whites and women have been swept
aside, merely mentioned once every so often. To quote:
...While there is nothing wrong with optimism, it can become something of a burden
for students of color, children of working class parents, girls who notice the dearth of
female historical figures, or members of any group that has not achieved socio
economic success. The optimistic approach prevents any understanding of failure
other than blaming the victim. No wonder children of color are alienated. Even for

incorporated social media. This strategy was designed to target young adults, ages 18
to 34. The Wildfire Prevention Campaign also directs people to SmokeyBear.com to
learn more about their mission. The Ad Council website states that, in 2013, the site
hosted over 4.3 million U.S. visits, averaging 360,000 visits a month. Smokey Bear

Inquiry is an interactive way of learning. Students are actively engaged in their
studies. Inquiry involves student centered activities focusing on questioning,
exploring, and posing explanations. The goal of inquiry is to introduce a new way of
learning where students can learn about the world around them through active
engagement in real life examples. Inquiry based learningcan be incorporated into all
academic subjects throughout the curriculum. Sciencecould possibly be the most
effective subject to incorporate inquiry. In Science, teachers serve as the facilitator of

research and conduct the experiment based on their observations. Students are
considered to be scientists in the inquiry process. Children will view themselves as
scientists as they learn. They look forward to science, demonstrate a desire to learn
more, seek collaboration with their classmates, they are confident in doing science,
and willing to take risks. Students are readily engaged in exploring science. They
have curiosity, ponder observations, move around to get the materials they need, and
have the opportunity to try out their ideas. Students are able to communicate using
various amounts of methods. They express their ideas in journals, reporting, or
drawing. They listen, speak, and write about science. They communicate their level of
understanding of concepts and ideas. The students propose explanations and
solutions based off their data. They use investigations to satisfy their own questions.
They sort out information that is needed and important. They become willing to
revise explanations and gain new knowledge. They raise questions, use questions to
lead them to investigations, and students begin to enjoy using questions to ponder
ideas. Students begin to observe rather than look. They see details, detect sequences,
and notice change, similarities, and differences. The students begin to make
12. Essay on An Exploration of Vegetarianism
I.Thesis Definition
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the trend of vegetarianism and its steady
increase in popularity in the United States, the possible causes behind the existence of
this trend, its effects on our general society and the practicing population, and finally,
the future of vegetarianism. For the purpose of this paper vegetarianism is described
as a plant based diet (fruits, vegetables, etc), though the most important factor being
the total exclusion of meat, not including fish for most practitioners. While numerous
sub levels of this lifestyle exist, including veganism (abstaining from the use of all
animal products) and semi vegetarianism (a person cutting back on meat intake), this
study will focus mainly on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1992, as the medical evidence supporting this lifestyle skyrocketed, the American
Dietetic Association officially endorsed vegetarianism, thus solidifying a prominent
argument for the credibility of the vegetarian diet. From the 1990s to present day,
the amount of practitioners has markedly increased, and appears to be continually
growing at a steady rate. According to a 2008 study conducted by the Harris
Interactive Service Bureau on behalf of Vegetarian Times magazine, roughly 3.2
percent of U.S. adults, or 7.3 million people, follow a vegetarian based diet. In
addition, 22.8 million Americans maintain to follow a vegetarian inclined diet, while
11.9 million are definitely interested in becoming a vegetarian in the future (
Vegetarianism ). While no concrete evidence of a current rise yet exists, researchers
speculate that, because of new environmental and health concerns, more people are,
and will be, turning to vegetarianism to assist these issues (Rohrer).
III.Causes of Vegetarianism
Environment
Environmental vegetarianism centers on the ever increasing alarm that mass
production of meat and animal products, particularly through factory farming, is
environmentally unsustainable. As reported by a 2006 United Nations initiative, the
livestock industry is ...one of the largest contributors to environmental degradation
worldwide, and modern practices of raising animals for food
13. How To Write An Essay On Woodstock In 1969
Woodstock 1969 During the 60s, it was the time of drugs, love, hippies, and the
Vietnam War. People were being sent to war while hippies just wanted peace.
Woodstock was thought up and provided peace just for them. Before Woodstock
happened in the 60s, there were many hippies everywhere. Hippies were involved
in music, drugs, peace, and love. During this time, there were four young men, the
oldest being 27, that had ideas to build a recording studio so they made up this
concert to raise money for it. The partnership was named the Woodstock Ventures. It
was going to be a three day festival of music and peace inspired by outdoor concerts
on meadows with windy roads. They also wanted there to be peaceful music under an
open sky with rolling hills, farmland, and streams. During this time, the Vietnam War
was going on. War was raging in Vietnam between the northern part of Vietnam and
the southern part. The United Stateswas an ally with the Southern part. Since we
were an ally, people were sent over to help. Lots of people were dying and, like
stated above, the hippies just wanted peace. They just simply wanted people to stop

16. Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s s novel Heart of Darkness portrays an image of Africa that is dark
and inhuman. Not only does he describe the actual, physical continent of Africa as so
hopeless and so dark, so impenetrable to human thought, so pitiless to human
weakness , (Conrad 154) as though the continent could neither breed nor support any
true human life. Conrad lived through a time when European colonies were scattered
all over the world. This phenomenon and the doctrine of colonialismbought into at his
time obviously influenced his views at the time of Heart of Darknesspublication. Very
few people saw anything amiss with colonialism in Africa and the African people.
From a Eurocentric point of view, colonialism was the natural next step in any
powerful countries political agenda. The colonizers did not pay heed to the native
peoples in their territories, nor did they think of the natives as anything but savages.
In the Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conraduses Marlow to contradict the acts of man
and the destruction they brought forth to Africa and their people. Conrad shows,
through fiction, that the blindness and lack of morality in Africa allowed for the
release of the darkness from the hearts of the colonists. In the opening of his novel,
Heart of Darkness, Conrad, through Marlow, establishes his thoughts on colonialism.
He says that conquerors only use brute force, nothing to boast of (Conrad 13)
because it arises, by accident, from another s weakness. Marlow compares his

3.3Hybrid Clouds (Inter Vehicle Clouds): HC is the combination of VC and VuC
where VC serves as both service provider and consumer at the same time. The
motivation behind HC is that, vehicles moving on the road might rent their resources
and might want to use cloud services at the same time. NaaS and P2P are the most
suitable examples for such scenarios. Nevertheless due to the ephemeral nature of
VANET, connection among vehicular nodes is very intermittent. But yet it can be
argued that usually for P2P applications, the size of the files is fairly small making it
suitable for short time connection. Other potential applications for this architecture
include IaaS in case of VC.[3]

18. Catholic Social Teaching Essay
Three important Catholic Social Teachings for us to take into account when
considering Caritas actions in the Pacific are Stewardship of Creation, Preferential
Option for the Poor and Subsidiarity.
Stewardship is a Catholic Social Teaching which instructs us that we the people have
a responsibility to maintain and take care of the environmental resources, for we are
the guardians of the land, not the true owners. Stewardship is us, God s Creation,
having a responsibility to care for the gifts God has given us, with an emphasis on
the environment as disregarding it and not taking care of it will have detrimental
effects on generations to come. This Catholic Social Teaching is interlinked with the
Maori view of Kaitiakitanga, that we are guardians and stewards of the land and are
holding it for future generations to come. Because as in the Maori proverb:

(Social Justice Week 2014 Catholic Social Teaching). Stewardship is a Catholic
Social Teaching evident in scripture and is shown in Genesis 2:15, Then the Lord
God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it
(Genesis 2:15). In this, we can see how Catholics are called to look after the land
by cultivating it in the best way so that we may keep it, just as it is in the scripture.
The scripture is telling us that God has entrusted us, his creation, to the task of
looking after his creation with harmony and development, protecting it from harm.
The idea of we the people having the responsibility to look after God s creation for
all of creation, is an idea that Pope Francis reflects on in his Laudato Si #68 when he
says This responsibility for God s earth means that human beings, endowed with
intelligence, must respect the laws of nature and the delicate equilibria existing

19. The Pros And Cons Of Human-Wildlife Conflict
General introduction
According to the IUCN World Park Congress (2003), Human Wildlife Conflict
(HWC) occurs when wildlife resource requirements overlap with those of human
populations, creating costs both to communities adjacent to protected areas and the
wildlife within them. At present the phenomenon poses a serious challenge to both
the human livelihoods and the flora and fauna globally (Berger McGraw 2007).
HWC take place in diverse environments and different animal assemblages and
countries and this is increasingly acquiring the attention of ecologist, wildlife
biologists, wildlife researchers and wildlife managers across the globe (Muriuki et
al.2017). Even though HWC has an ancient historical background, its rising harshness
and multi faced nature has made it a great global concern to wildlife management,
this is due to number of factors such as, habitat fragmentation, land use changes,

2016) and as results retaliatory killings of wildlife species intensify( Broekhuis et
al. 2017,Mateo Tomas et al. 2012), the long term survival of species is at risk.
Wildlife population decreases in areas where there are high human wildlife
interactions, in places such as forests, river bank and grazing areas adjacent to
protected areas (Michalski et al 2006; Sladge et al. 2017). On the other hand this
conflict poses a huge challenge in the sustainability of human livelihoods
(Gillingham Lee 2003; Rao et al 2002; Sahoo and Mohnot 2004), along with
resultant economic loss from crop and livestock damages ( Mackenzie and Ahabyona
2012; Schön 2013). The management of HWC drains the affected countries
financially (Lamarque et al. 2009), this calls for better strategic management plans
which are publicly acceptable and will not jeopardize wildlife conservation

21. Personal Narrative About God
I grew up going to Church with family and friends until I was around the age of 8
when my parents just stopped going as much and eventually it came to a halt. I
honestly don t believe that I really knew anything about God besides that I believed
in him because my parents did. As I grew older and got involved in heavy drinking
to a point of no self control and doing things I would regret when sober I began to
hate myself with a deep passion. I didn t know why I would do the things I did and
continue to make the same mistakes even after I felt the gut wrenching feeling the
following day. It was when I was older that I found out about a friend of the family
molesting me as a child and everything just made more sense as to why I was so
overly sexual and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was beyond scared and now a single parent with no idea of what to do with a baby.
So, now my prayers went from asking for a saving grace to asking to be a good
parent. It wasn t easy and I fell back into the drinking crowd. I had that gut
wrenching feeling again of disgust with myself and prayed again for someone or
something to get me out of this drinking situation. Well, He came through again
and sent an amazing man into my life. We ended up together, he was the only man
my daughter knew since she was 11 months old. It was just the three of us all the
time so it stopped me from going out drinking and we ended up buying a house
together. After six years the relationship came to an end for reasons that were not
bad, just on different levels of life at that point. During our time together we didn t
go to Church but he was a believer and we talked about God a lot. It opened up my
faith to a new view. I got a bible and devotional books and began my journey as a
Christian. I started school and stayed with my parents until I could get on my feet
and get my own place. I climbed the later at the Healthcare facility in the area and
ended up getting a great

was born January 5, 1860, in franklin County, Mississippi. E.Y. Mullins early
demonstrated a love for learning and reading, inspired by his father s teaching
example. A definite call to ministry, led Mullins to the Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary Louisville Kentucky to study in 1881. Mullins believe the Seminary was a
school with clear theological convictions and much respected faculty. By 1885,
Mullins was recognized as a full graduate of the seminary. In 1898, the seminary was
facing the second theological crisis. The SBC originated in denominational schism
and throughout history has endured schisms of its own. Some attributed conflict to
the fears that theological disciplines would be diminished by increased attention to

Expression.
Mullins was concerned that Baptists were known more for what they reject
(ecclesiastical hierarchies, infant baptism, interdenominational union, etc.) rather than
the fundamentals of the Baptists faith. The Axioms were an attempt to explicate the
full meaning of the soul competency. Whereas, Christian theism is the only possible
philosophy for man who accepts the fundamentals principle of the soul s competency,
for it asserts God s ability to communicate a revelation to man and man s capability
to receive it and to communicate with God. Every significant movement of our day
is one form another man s purpose to make his way back to God. (p.74). The six
Axioms of religion:
The theological axiom: The holy and loving God has a right to be sovereign.
The religious axiom: All souls have an equal right to direct access to God.
The ecclesiastical axiom: All believers have a right to equal privileges in the church.
The moral axiom: To be responsible, man must be free.
The religio civic axiom: A free church in a free state.
The social axiom: Love your neighbor as yourself.
Mullins states, many of the essential and fundamental things of the gospel, indicate
there are at least theological agreement. He further states, Baptist are the best example
to Christianity, because they have consistently carry out these principles in their life
more than any
23. Bipolar Disorder And Manic Depressive Disorder
Bipolar disorder, previously manic depressive disorder, is a disorder that has a
myriad common misconceptions surrounding it within the general public. Unless
one has taken the time to research what Bipolar Disorder is/entails or is suffering
from the disorder itself, knowledge about the disorder typically comes from
hearsay. Before reading Kay Redfield Jamison s novel, most of what I knew or had
learned about Bipolar Disorder was from other individuals. I knew it was some
form of disorder but the details eluded me. Many times you will hear teenagers say
things like Oh, she is so bipolar when a friend shifts from happy one minute to mad
the next or The weather is so bipolar when it shifts from sunny to raining rapidly.
From this, I assumed that Bipolar Disorder had something to do with a rapid shift
in moods. However, other than looking up on one occasion whether Bipolar
Disorder and Manic Depressive Disorder are the same thing, I did not pay much
more attention to what Bipolar Disorder was or what those suffering from the
disorder dealt with on a daily basis. It was not until I came to college where we
briefly covered the disorder in classes, like intro, and read Jamison s memoir for
another course that I really began to understand what Bipolar Disorder is and how it
affects those who suffer from it. After having read Jamison s memoir, the life of
those suffering with Bipolar Disorder became a little easier to imagine. It most
certainly is not an easy
24. To Kill A Mockingbird Point Of View Essay
Scout s unique point of view, which is an unbiased first person with two
perspectives, is developed in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee through the use
of a flashback structure, plot development, and the specific point of view. To start
off, the frame story within the flashback structure helps shape the story s point of
view. In this specific frame story, an older Scout is positively looking back on her
childhood, with her younger self telling the experiences that led to her brother, Jem,
breaking his arm. At the beginning of the novel, she said, When enough years had
gone by to enable us to look back on them, we sometimes discussed the events
leading to his accident (Lee 3). This quote specifically takes the readers to a moment
where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this had been told from older Scout s perspective, she would have known what she
had done and directly stated it, rather than indirectly describing what she saw.
From older Scout s perspective at the beginning of the novel, she spoke with her
brother about their childhood much later in life and said, Maycomb was an old
town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it (Lee 6). Scout, at her older
age, thought in depth about what Maycomb was like for her more than she did when
she was younger, specifically seen in the words tired and old . Not only that, but
older Scout spoke in the past tense, something younger Scout would generally not do
since she focused on what was occurring around her rather than contemplating what
already happened. The diction used in both perspectives helps to make the point of
view more unique by showing the innocent differences between the two related yet
different perspectives. These specific examples help support the unique point of view
in the book and show how it is shaped through the structure, developed through the
plot, and related through the diction used in both
25. Ethics, Deontological, And Virtue
From the moment we are born, our parents make sure to teach us the right from
wrong. As we grow older we begin having our own thoughts and learning the ethical
and unethical things of life. In today s society, we are all expected to be more open
minded and respecting of others way of life and culture. That s what being a Global
Citizen is about. Through Global Ethicswe have learned so far, that we can all relate
to three important moral theories. These theories are known as Consequentialist
(Utilitarian), Deontological, and Virtue. Through this paper I will also be discussing
a case study found in chapter two, based on the Selling of Human BodyParts, and how
it s seen through the lenses of Cosmopolitanism and its four criterions, as... Show

In other words, a deontological person thinks more about themselves and their
duty. An example also given is class similar to the previous one. Is that if a
manager is told to fire an employee due to insufficient funds, the manager would
complete the task without even thinking about because of his/her duty to the
company. They don t really think about the consequences that this causes the
employees personal life. Lastly, we have Virtue. A virtues person attempts to
discern character traits (virtues and vices) that are or could be motivating the
people involved in a situation (Contrast between the three Ethical frameworks,
Moskwa,). In other words, a virtues person not only watches for themselves, but
they also watch out for others who need help who are within their same virtue. For
example, if a friend is going through a hard time, a virtues person would be there
for them and watch out for their best interest. Consequentialism, Deontological, and
Virtue all help shape our moral values. As we go along on the book we focus on
chapter two s case study based on the sale of body parts. Through the lenses of
cosmopolitanism, we see that a cosmopolitan may have different views when it
comes to the selling of body parts compared to non cosmopolitan. A non
cosmopolitan would agree with the selling of body

Mental Awakenings of Hamlet and Samson
In William Shakespeare s play Hamlet and in John Milton s play Samson Agonistes,
both title characters undergo an intellectual metamorphosis, each becoming more
and more aware of the power of his mind as he learns to master it. Despite a
difference of almost 50 years between the writing of each of these plays, Hamelet
being composed in 1601 and Samson Agonistes not being completed until circa 1646
1648, both reflect a preoccupation of the 17th century shared by both authors, the
emergence of the mind and the human reason.

of human reason and a clear, undistracted mind.
Early in the play, Hamlet begins a process of self doubt ( am I a coward? ), which
is an important and necessary part of the awakening of one s mind for this

27. The Importance Of Relative Fitness
chosen genotype survives; but this must be the same as the probability that a
randomly chosen individual survives, regardless of information on genotype.
Relative fitness. The relative fitness of a genotype (w) equals to its absolute fitness
when get normalized. In the most common normalization, the absolute fitness of
each genotype is divided by the absolute fitness of the fittest genotype (Barton and
Turelli, 1989), such that the fittest genotype has a relative fitness of one. We can
also define a selection coefficient (s), a measure of how much worse the A2 allele is
than A1. Mathematically, w2 = 1 s. Although the definition of relative fitness is
simple, the mathematical relationship between absolute and relative fitness is subtle
(Bazykin, 1969; Betzig, 1986 and Beatty, 2008). In particular, there is a curve of
diminishing returns between these two quantities i.e., increasing the absolute fitness
of a genotype by some amount has less effect on relative fitness (compared with the
mean relative fitness) than does decreasing the relative fitness of the genotype by
the same amount. The importance of mathematical implication of fitness is
straightforward i.e., when zygotes attempt to mature, selection acts, killing some.
Because a proportion (W1) of A1 individuals and a proportion (W2) of A2
individuals survive, the proportion of individuals that carry A1 after selection acts is
pW1 / (pW1 + qW2) It follows that selection will increase the frequency of the fit A1

On February 3, 2017, Tim Piazza, a sophomore here at Penn State, tragically lost his
life at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house. This horrific event was a result of
irresponsible consumption of alcohol and binge drinking. Sadly, this is not an
isolated incident. Around the nation, countless young adults have lost their life due to
the thoughtless consumption of alcohol. Unfortunately, the common census between
the majority of the average day Americans is that the most effective way to make
drinking safer for young adults is enforcing a minimum drinking age of twenty one.
This law, as well as the common census, are a direct result from the efforts of
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) more than thirty years ago ( Drinking
Culture). MADD s objective and goal is quite understandable; they want the young
adults of today s world to be safe and not put themselves into dangerous situations
with alcohol, but they doing more harm than good. ( The Problem ). Safety is the
single objective from each side in this argument, but MADD s flawed logic and
ignorance to reality has formed a belief that results in an unsafe drinking culture,
resulting in more deaths, such as the tragic passing of Tim Piazza, unless the
drinking age is lowered to eighteen, as well as establishing an open dialogue about
drinking itself. Mothers Against Drunk Driving aims to create the safest possible
environment for a young adults to develop, but their argument contains a sense of
ignorance to the reality
31. Gothic Elements In Gothic
Gothic Elements in Northanger Horrid Novels
The scope of this chapter is to introduce selected Gothic novels in order to analyse
Gothic elements. The Mysteries of Udolpho is presented first, since it is an
exemplary novel regarded as a model of Female Gothic literature. Furthermore, four
Northanger novels are compared to this model analysis to show whether it is possible
to label them as copies of Radcliffe. The analysis focuses on several elements: setting,
nature, supernatural, suspense and characters.
2.1The Mysteries of Udolpho
Ann Radcliffe published The Mysteries of Udolpho in 1794. Emily St. Aubert, a
young girl from formerly wealthy family, loses her mother and accompanies her
father on a trip around France. There she meets Valancourt who immediately wins her
sympathies. Soon after, Emily s father dies and she has to live with his sister,
Madame Cheron. However, her aunt is under the influence of Montoni, whom she
eventually marries, and he spoils the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radcliffe s contribution is described in chapter 1 and since she influenced all of the
authors of the Northanger novels, including Jane Austen herself, the analysis of The
Mysteries of Udolpho is presented to show a model of contemporary Gothic fiction
and serves as a ground for demonstrating the Gothic elements in the horrid novels.
Radcliffe set the novel in 1584 in the catholic Europe, the characters travel between
Italy and France. There are detailed descriptions of nature, especially in the first half
of the book, as Emily travels accompanied by her father and later by Madame Cheron
and Montoni. However, the extensive descriptions may cause inattention.
Consequently, the marvellous nature often inspires Emily to compose a
32. Motor Recovery After Stroke Essay
Stroke is the third most frequent cause of death and the most common cause of
acquired adult disability in developed countries (WHO 2003). The ability to predict
early an accurate prognosis for motor recovery after stroke is important as it could
provide useful information for specific rehabilitation strategies and final motor
outcomes. In fact, decisions on the type, duration, and goals of rehabilitation are
based on several factors, including estimates of the patient s potential for recovery of
motor function, and have far reaching consequences. The ability to evaluate the
expected level of motor and functional recovery after stroke may help in early
decision making on medical and rehabilitation treatments as well as in research trials
for assessment of intervention effects. Improvements in the accuracy of prognosis for
the recovery of independence in daily activities would enable realistic goal setting
and efficient resource allocation by clinicians and patients. Therefore, many of
previous studies have attempted to predict motor outcomes in stroke patients using
various methods, including clinical findings (Hendricks et al., 2002), MRI (DeVetten
et al., 2010; Schiemanck et al., 2006), functional MRI (Marshall et al. 2009),

(GERD), peptic ulcers and as prophylaxis of gastritis caused by many other widely
used medications. PPIs are being used on long term basis and thus it is important to

we look at the last column of the table (sig). This statistically meaningful column

conclude that the model used is a good predictor of the satisfaction variable. The
significance level in our research is less than 0.05, which indicates that the

correlation is very strong. The value of R square indicates how much of the
dependent variable can be explained by an independent variable. In this research, the
quality of electronic services can explain 63.2% of customer satisfaction changes,
which is actually a remarkable

Movies have a lot of work put into them in which us the audience tend to not really

Even the little things that people tend to ignore can make the major difference in a
film. Editing which combines all the shots together in which it takes various cuts
to get to the final product, then cinematography which gives us the views of the
moving images in the film whether it being characters or any important point of
view that they are trying to show. Lastly sound which helps the film feel more real
and grab its audience with background music if they have any, to follow it would
also show its mood to introduce the characters or set the pace of the film or perhaps
link scenes and set the time and place. All of these elements weren t as in depth in
the past as they are now, which indeed has transformed the way we see movies
37. The Characteristics Of Disney And Other Disney Princesses
Another interesting way Disney and Studio Ghibli codes their characters are
possessing them with either feminine or masculine traits. Traditional feminine traits
include being easily hurt emotionally, verbal, dependent, and non aggressive.
Masculine traits are defined as aggressive, independent, and active. Ariel and other
Disney Princesses typically fall into the feminine traits throughout the film, Ariel
cries and is extremely emotional, dramatically throwing herself down and sobbing
over her conflicts. She is also extremely talkative, unlike her father, who is more
stoic and tough. Ariel doesn t seem to possess any traditional masculine traits, and is
mostly seen as very dependent on her relationship with her loveinterest for
happiness. Meanwhile, Kiki is described as both traditionally masculine and
feminine and this is seen as a good thing. The article Miyazaki s Heroines notes
that while Kiki longs for traditionally feminine things, like a prettier dress to wear,
this is not seen as a negative quality, just as something that s typical for a teenage
girl to think. Overall, Kiki possesses a strong balance of traits that are both
traditionally seen as masculine and feminine. While she sometimes gets emotional,
it s due to the fact that she s away from home for the first time and facing the
challenges of growing up. She is also seen as extremely independent, and faces such
tasks such as finding a place to live and getting a job at a very young age. The

actresses. Steven had many successes in his life for examples he also created the
very famous Sherlock Holmes . In january 2016 it was announced that steven
would stop and step down from the position from being the showrunner of the
piece Doctor Who . In the spring of 2017 season finale, Chris Chinball would take
his spot. Moffat has been awarded with many BAFTA Awards, four Hugo Awards,
and Two Emmy Awards. As i have said once in this revision paper Moffat is a very
talented man and all of his work from the beginning and until the end of his career
has been praised over the years of his retirement and will most likely be praised
until the day he passes away. Moffat was famous for using his personal life to put
in his work, going back to what I was saying about his marriage, i ll use this as an
example just one last time because when he wrote that sitcom he wrote about
specific events that were very unfortunate for him, he even used a part in the script
that he was so mad that he swiped his typewriter across the desk and fell on his foot

40. Becoming An Ultrasound Technician
Becoming an Ultrasound Technician Someone would need to know what it takes
and the daily routines of an ultrasound technician if they are hoping to become one.
A person should know the amount and the type of schooling needed. They should
know what classes are needed, and they should also know the advancements and
changes in the profession in the last few years to know what is ahead of them and
why the school curriculum has changed. The reason I am writing this paper is
because I would like to know, and to share what I found. I have wanted to become
an ultrasound technician for years, but have put it off because I have been out of
school 14 years and was scared to come back. I would love to work in an
obstetrician s office, because that would be my dream job. The reason I want to
become one is because most of my family is in the medical field somewhere so I
have the background and lots of knowledge, but I don t care for the blood and guts
that go with most of the careers in the medical field. With radiology it is non
evasive I love babies, also. I wouldn t mind going into other fields of the industry
either. Over the last few years ultrasound technicians as a career has upgraded a lot
because of the advancements in the technology. We have learned besides seeing
what is going on inside the body we can use the sound waves, that ultrasound
technology used to produce the image, to provide therapy to correct a problem which
Emma Lloyd talks about in her article Benefits of

I am planning to write about the 1999 film Fight Club directed by David Fincher.
This movie is about a nameless insomniac office worker (the narrator) who has
became, as he views, a slave to consumer culture. He begins attending support
groups for diseases he doesn t have to subdue his emotional state, and he begins to
sleep again. He meets Marla Singer, another fake attendee of support groups, she is
an incredibly mysterious woman who is obviously a bit crazy, yet the narrator
seems drawn to her. On a flight for his job, the narrator meets the character Tyler
Durden, a hip, stylish man who sells soap for a living. When the narrator s
apartment blows up, he calls Tyler and begins to live with him. The two start a
men only underground fight club, which takes the place of the narrators attendance
of support groups in emotional aid. However the two men soon spiral out of
control, battling for the love of Marla and power. The narrator finds out that Tyler
has turned the fight club into an anti capitalism domestic terrorist group called
