Karl Marx believed that true social justice could only be achieved through a classless society without private property or social inequality, and that this required a proletariat revolution and a dictatorship of the proletariat that would establish a socialist mode of production before transitioning to a stateless, classless communist society. He argued that under capitalism the bourgeoisie use the power of the state to oppress the proletariat and maintain an unjust social and economic system, so a socialist revolution was necessary to overthrow the bourgeois state and establish a new proletarian state.
This document defines the American South based on the crops grown within the plantation system from the Colonial period through the antebellum period. The key crops included tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton, which were valuable cash crops grown for profit rather than personal use. Plantations had easy access to waterways for transportation of crops. The document asserts that the economic dominance of the plantation system, centered around these cash crops, is reflective of the South as a distinct region.
Andrew Carnegie was a famous American industrialist in the late 19th century who made his fortune in the steel industry, building his company through strategic reinvestment and undercutting competitors to dominate the market. As the U.S. industrialized, Carnegie positioned himself to produce and sell the large quantities of steel needed for factories, buildings, bridges, and more. Through shrewd business tactics, Carnegie was able to control every aspect of his steel business and become one of the richest men in the world.
Here are the key points of comparison between originalism and activism in constitutional interpretation:
- Originalism holds that the Constitution should be interpreted based on the original public meaning of the text as understood by those who drafted and ratified it. Activism allows for a "living" interpretation that considers changed social and political circumstances.
- Originalists believe strictly following the original meaning provides an objective, fixed standard that was intended by the Framers. Activists counter that the Framers could not have anticipated all future issues, so the Constitution must evolve with the times.
- An originalist reading generally leads to narrower rulings focused on what is explicitly stated or implied in the text and historical context. Activism allows for broader rulings

Extending the Mind with Cognitive Prosthetics? PhiloWeb
The key claim of the extended mind hypothesis is that the mechanisms of the mind are not confined to processes occurring within the brain or head, but can include processes that extend into and make use of the environment. The document discusses several examples to illustrate this, such as using a calculator on a computer or smartphone as an extension of one's cognitive abilities. It also discusses potential future cognitive augmentations using technologies like augmented reality glasses that could integrate information from the external world and blur the boundaries between mind and technology. However, some philosophers argue the extended mind hypothesis is implausible as it lacks a clear definition of cognition and fails to distinguish between causal influences on the mind versus actual extensions of cognitive processes.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
This presentation was provided by Racquel Jemison, Ph.D., Christina MacLaughlin, Ph.D., and Paulomi Majumder. Ph.D., all of the American Chemical Society, for the second session of NISO's 2024 Training Series "DEIA in the Scholarly Landscape." Session Two: 'Expanding Pathways to Publishing Careers,' was held June 13, 2024.
How to Manage Reception Report in Odoo 17Celine George
A business may deal with both sales and purchases occasionally. They buy things from vendors and then sell them to their customers. Such dealings can be confusing at times. Because multiple clients may inquire about the same product at the same time, after purchasing those products, customers must be assigned to them. Odoo has a tool called Reception Report that can be used to complete this assignment. By enabling this, a reception report comes automatically after confirming a receipt, from which we can assign products to orders.

3. Ntpv1 Case 8. 1
DNS:
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the
Internet. Its basic job is to turn a user friendly domain name like google.com into an
Internet Protocol (IP) address like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use to
identify each other on the network.Infact Google Public DNS is largest DNS service
in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the host devices
on the internet use an identity which is called an IP Address to establish a connection
with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the
whole bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server or
name server and access the sites with specific names. And this DNS server ... Show

STEP 2 :
REQUEST THE DNS SERVERS:
Lets consider the latter case in Step 1, if the information is not stored in local
devices, the computer contacts the Internet Service Providers DNS Servers (in
recent times, Recursive DNS Servers). These computers perform the query on behalf
of the user. All the DNS servers have their own caches, so the query ends when the
information is delivered to the user.
STEP 3:
ASK THE ROOT NAME SERVERS:
If the Recursive DNS servers are not able to send the response or they don t have
the enough information for the query, then the Root name servers come into the
picture. A name server is a computer that responds to queries about the Domain
names. There are 13 Root Name servers . These servers act as a bridge in directing
the query to answerable resources if it doesn t have enough information.
STEP 4:
TOP LEVEL DOMAIN:
The Root Name servers will direct the query to the Top Level Domain for the .com
which have their own nameserver set which makes a distinction for TLD. Same as
the Root Name servers, they direct to their servers which have the information.
STEP 5 :
The Top Level domain name servers direct the query specific namerservers. There are
Authoritative servers have the information in DNS records.

4. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or
murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of
accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that
Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to
secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he
should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps
aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when
it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he
does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related
to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil
he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing
Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not
acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is
after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and
guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I
dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne,
Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights
Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has
done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even
after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for
the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their
succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking
to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf
up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54).
Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so
violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Related to both passages, Macbeth
does not want anyone to
5. Literary Examples Of Didactic Literature
Didactic literature is not always written alike, it has been and is written to teach
children morals, politeness, how to be obedient and responsible and to teach
children how they should conform to religious and cultural expectations. Authors
use different didactic approaches to convey their desired lesson or persuasion.
Examples of didactic readings from our class lectures are The Purple Jar by Maria
Edgeworth which uses didacticism to teach that things are not always what they
appear and the differences between need and want. In contrast, the story of The
Good Little Boy by Mark Twain, uses poking fun at the didactic message of how a
good boy is to behave to teach the lesson. Lastly, in the writings of James Janeaway s

on Rosamond s purchase that she did tell her to examine the beautiful purple jar
before making her decision. Rosamond s mother tells her But didn t I tell you that
you had not examined it, and that perhaps you would be disappointed? With this
the author is teaching the didactic lesson that things are not always as they seem
and the reader should always closely examine their decisions. Rosamond ends up
with stones in her shoes causing her pain and eventually not being able to attend
an event with her father due to her appearance. In this the author is showing the
poor decision Rosamond made and the consequences of that decision. Rosamond
confides in her mother that she made a poor decision and she would like new
shoes now. Rosamond s mother responds to her request with No, Rosamond, you
must abide by your own choice; and now the best thing you can possibly do is bear
your disappointment with good humor. The Purple Jar teaches the difference of
need and want, that evaluation of the decision should be thorough as things are not
always as they appear and that there are consequences for every decision the
readers make. In The Story of The Good Little Boy by Mark Twain, Twain takes a
contrasting approach to didactic literature where he tells a story of Jacob Blivens

All treatment for eczema involves inflammation to heal and that the skin barrier is
restored until the skin is intact and smooth again. In this way it can protect against
such irritation, dehydration and allergens.
What treatment you get depends on the type of eczema you have, how old you are,
where on the body the eczema is and how much trouble you have.
You always use a moisturizing cream or ointment. Often you also get cream or
ointment with cortisone, which reduces the itching and reduces the inflammation.
Weak cortisone drugs can be bought without a prescription.

7. Marketing Plan For The Company
Introduction
Lululemon is a company that has based itself around a value proposition of ethical
production, healthy living and quality athletic gear designed to encourage and
support an active lifestyle (Lululemon, 2014). Unfortunately for the company in
the last year it has come under fire for a run of clothing that was far below their
standard quality, and was in fact recalled for being too sheer (Peterson, 2013). This
incident was exacerbated by CEO Chip Wilson s comments that effectively blamed
the issue on the body types of their customers (Forbes, 2014). This series of events
served to isolate the brand from two of its critical strengths, namely the positive,
encouraging push towards healthier living and the socially conscious production of
high quality goods. In order to address this issue we are focusing our marketing plan
on three specific areas: Focusing on emphasizing the realignment of our executive to
reflect the values of the corporation, continuing to increase the production of micro
marketed goods, and increasing our client engagement by promoting yoga events in
local communities in order to re establish our position as a healthy, active and body
positive firm.

The Controversy of Abuse in Scientology
There has never been a religion more controversial or widely debated as Scientology.
In part, this image has been supported over the decades through the indirect
machinations of Scientologists themselves; their desire to prevent media attention
has seemingly garnered more scrutiny, and their interest in seclusion only furthers the
idea of cultic secrecy. These examples are heightened as allegations by defectors and
court scandals arise. Though Scientology is a relatively new religion, due to an
extensive public rumor mill, it has managed to cause more commotion than have
many other much older religions. One of the most fascinating controversies ... Show

As stated earlier, the RPF has committed physical and strenuous harm against its
members. Furthermore, eye witness accounts have placed Scientologists as
engaging in direct violence. Chris and Christie Collbran recall times in which sea
org members were repeatedly beaten...by David Miscavige (Goodstein 1), as well
as forced to have abortions and work with little sleep. Chris Collbran also
remembers an instance where an official hit a member. He later emulated this
behavior by violently pushing a 17 year old follower against the wall. Christie
describes being consumed by fear, going so far as to wait until the third trimester
to tell Sea Org officials of her pregnancy, just so she could leave the church without
being excommunicated. In other cases, women have often cited being forced to
have an abortion, something Christie corroborates as she states she had known
women who were removed when they refused to have abortions (Goodstein 2).
Jenna Miscavige Hill also cites repeated instances of abuse in the Sea Org, including
physical violence and pressure to get an abortion. In Sea Org, women are not
allowed to have children and are encouraged to get abortions, while also subjected to

9. Inflation in Russia
Introduction
Good day, dear friends. Actually, I considered the topic of the presentation for a long
time and finally I have chosen inflation in Russia. Inflation, as one of the main
macroeconomic issues, is a really urgent problem of today. In some countries the rate
of inflation is 5 %.while in others 15%. Today. we will discuss history and modern
peculiarities of the Russian inflation. So,here is the plan.
Definition
Inflation is a sustained increase in overall level of prices, as measured by some
broad index (such as Consumer Price Index) over months or years, and mirrored in
the correspondingly decreasing purchasing power of a currency. An increase in
inflation means an increase in prices. This affects whether or not a consumer is ...

Therefore local authorities wanted to keep that control, despite the failure of the
government to subsidize such regions.
Taking into account the fact that that the majority of enterprises were monopolists,
and market regulation systems in the country did not exist, the enterprises took
advantage of the situation to raise the prices of goods and services.(as we all know
that it is profit push inflation)
Reasons of inflation in Russia
Usually the causes of inflation are divided by the monetary and non monetary.
However, in our country, this division is very conditional, so at this stage it is better
to talk about specific assumptions of a price growth.
Usually experts name three main causes of inflation in Russia in recent years. First
rising costs of food in the world. Our country is imported from the border a lot of
food and raw materials. After the drought of 2010 the share of imports has increased
significantly.
The second reason the growth of budget expenditures, especially in the social sphere,
and monetary support for the economy. The government continues to pump its
money, that affect the growth of the money supply and as a result reduce the
purchasing power of the ruble.
The third cause of acceleration of inflation the growth of tariffs for state monopolies.
Especially electricity. Most state owned companies raise their prices for gas, for
energy, for tickets. And the government can not stop this
10. History of Nhl
The largest hockey league in the world is the National Hockey League. The league
was introduced in 1917, and originally had only five teams. Today it has grown to
far greater proportions, now boasting 30 teams, each with an 82 game season, and
if a team makes the playoffs, there can be up to another 28 games played on top of
that. The NHL is an elite league that houses only the best players from around the
world (History). The rules used in the NHL are generally used as the standard all
over the world. Each game consists of three 20 minute periods, with an intermission
between each period. If at the end of this 60 minute game there is a tie, there shall
be an additional 5 minute overtime period during season play. If a tie is... Show more

The player that was deprived of the scoring opportunity will be allowed to take a
one on one shot on the goalie, with no interference from the other team. The shot is
one single shot, once the player loses control of the puck or the goalie makes the
save, the penalty shot is over (Official Rules of Ice Hockey). In order to officiate a
game, there are systems that are used in order to regulate the game. The first and
most basic system is the two man referee system, in which each official is a referee
and a linesman, or has the power to call a penalty and watch and call the lines. In
this system, each referee stays on one side of the ice, and the goal is for each to
see the entire field of play. This system is generally used in youth hockey games
due to the low level of contact and the minor degree of penalties, and because it is
the least expensive system, as it only uses two men. The three man system is a
much more effective system, utilizing two linesman, and one referee. The linesmen
both patrol the blue lines, watching for off sides violations. This is the system that
is used in most higher ranking leagues, such as junior hockey, it was also used in
the NHL for some period of time. In the three man system, the referee no longer
needs to keep his eye on the lines, he can focus completely on the game and any
11. Dynamic Character In A Rose For Emily
William Faulkner writes A Rose for Emily , which is a tale about the peculiar events
in a small town in Mississippi. The protagonist, Emily Grierson, is an eccentric lady
that encounters tragedies throughout her life. Unexpectedly, she meets Homer Barron
whom she considers the love of her life. In this tragic love story, Faulkner reveals the
true identities of these individuals. The main character, Emily Grierson, in the story
A Rose for Emily , is portrayed as a dynamic character, an anti hero in the story, and
a mysterious citizen in the small town of Jefferson.
Miss Emily was a dynamic character because she changed and became withdrawn
from the people in her community over the course of the story. In the exposition,
she is a prominent and active figure in her community. Her character changed as
she encountered the tragedy of her father s death. However, she still was spotted
occasionally by the townspeople. Faulkner shows this by declaring, She carried her
head high enough even when we believed that she was fallen. It was as if she
demanded more than ever the recognition of her dignity as the last Grierson; as if it
had wanted that touch of earthiness to reaffirm her imperviousness (Faulkner 36 37).
After Homer s disappearance, Miss Emily became a true introvert. The author
supports this idea when he states, After her father s death she went out very little;
after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (Faulkner 34). The
townspeople noticed changes
12. The Pros And Cons Of Coal
Coal is the most abundant fossil fuel available to humans, there is no argument.
There is an estimated 3.9 trillion short tons of coal in the USA alone, and that
would be only 21% of the entire world s coal (EIA, 2017). That is a massive amount
of coal, but no matter how much coal there is, the human race is using it at a rate
much faster than the speed at which it can be produced in nature, therefore the
resource is bound to be depleted unless current practices are changed. With the current
rate at which coalis used in the world, it will only be around for another 50 56 years
(Chiras, 2016). Since it will only be around for roughly 50 years, if usage rates
continue as they are, it can not be a major energy source for the next 100 years.
Not only will coal just simply not last for the next hundred years when used as is,
it is also not an environmentally friendly way to produce energy. Coal is the
leading air pollutant in the united states with the typical uncontrolled coal plant
emitting 3.5 million tons of CO2, 14,100 tons of SO2 per year, 10,300 tons of
NOx per year (UCSUSA, 2015). These major air pollutants can result in acid rain,
destruction of the ozone layer, and a wide variety of human health problems. Coal
also emits many more heavy metals and solid particulates into the air every year.
These substances pollute the Earth s atmosphere and result in many problems. Coal
produces a great amount of energy, but it also produces a great amount of
pollutants that get released into the atmosphere and the environment, therefore it
can not be a major source of energy for the next 100 years or more problems will
occur. Aside of air pollution from using coal, the extraction and production of coal
has adverse effects on the environment too. Surface mining produces several
environmental hazards and releases a large quantity of pollutants through erosion
and runoff. When land is stripped away to reveal a coal seam, not only does it
destroy habitats and quality land, it increases erosion and causes a substantial amount
of the materials and sediment to be carried into nearby streams. In Kentucky for
example, where contour strip mines were located, the amount of erosion grew about
372 times the original, .18 tons per
13. The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 )
The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative
methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including
the use of individual graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance
at graduating, although it may or not be continued results of this bill will have to be
processed first. I chose this bill because I believed that it would be well known also,
because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent years.
Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden
drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive
branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and
what requirements for Individual Graduation committees (IGC). One of the effects of
SB 149 is, The law requires school districts and open enrollment charter schools to
have IGCs for any eleventh or twelfth grade studentwho has not passed two out of
the five end of the course (EOC) exams at or the end of the eleventh grade s year
(Seliger). IGCs need the principal, the teacher of the relevant course; the department
chair or lead teacher supervising the teacher of the relevant course; and either the
student s parent/guardian, or the student if the student is at least 18 years of age or is
an emancipated minor (Seliger). This is a pretty basic requirementthat I believe most
organizations involving students would have
14. Forms Of Protest In The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout American history, people have protested to create change in the time
and circumstances in which they live. At the heart of every protest are grievances,
such as experience of illegitimate inequality, feelings of relative deprivation,
feelings of injustice, moral indignation about some state of affairs, or a suddenly
imposed grievance (Stekelenburg). Whatever the reason, protests have been an
important and present part of American society for many years. There are multiple
ways in which people protest. People use books, magazines, and social media as
forms of protest. Music is among the most important mediums, for the majority of
society listens to and enjoys it. Songwriters and celebrities, tending to have an
elevated presence in society, draw attention to subjects they believe should be
spoken about in order to create change. Over the years, song artists have used their
platform to show their objection to racial discrimination, war, and intolerance
towards specific groups of people. Racial discrimination is one of the strongest
topics that songwriters have written about. In 1939, before the Civil Rights
Movement, Billie Holiday recorded Strange Fruit, a song originally written as a
poem by a teacher named Abel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Running head: Communication modalities
Communication Modalities in the Field of Healthcare
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify and examine one specific mode of
communication used by consumers and health care professionals, here the emphasis
would be given on the system of electronic medical records. Other things which
would be discussed related to this are the benefits to the patient, the issue of
maintaining patient confidentiality, the effective means of communicationand the
overall impact brought by the chosen media.
Introduction
In today s world, the care of patients is a task which involves different personals.
Here, everyone involved needs the sharing of patient information. Due to this, there
has been an increase in the interest and usage of communication and information
technologies which support health services. While there exists a significant amount
of investment and discussion in information technologies, the field of communication
system receives far less acknowledgement (Riffe, 1998). According to many analysts
of the communication field, there exists tremendous amount of gaps in the broad
understanding of many individuals involved with the field of health care regarding
the proper usage of communication services.
It is also seen that things related to the health care such as laboratory medicine are
often even more poorly studied due to this gap as compared to different other areas
like the interface that exists between hospital

open organs or tissues when transported to them by the body liquids. They are
affiliated with the Endocrine systems. Nervous System Hormone The brain has
receptors for thyroid hormones and the five classes of steroid hormones androgens,
estrogens, progestin, glucocorticoids, and mineralocorticoids. Also, vitamin D could
be count as a hormone too. The receptors are found in chose populaces of neurons in
the brain and important organs in the body. Thyroid and steroid hormones tie to
receptor proteins that thus hold to DNA and direct the activity of the genes. This can
bring about durable changes in cell structure and capacity. Digestive System
Hormone There are four primary hormones that influence the digestive system. They
are the hormones gastrin (class: peptide), secretin (class: peptide) , cholecystokinin
(class: peptide), and gastric inhibitory peptide. Gastrin causes the gastric organs to
emit pepsinogen and hydrochloric acid. Pepsinogen assists with the absorption of
protein. Secretin invigorates the pancreas and bile ducts to discharge sodium
bicarbonate to kill the corrosive. Secretin

19. The Broken Window Model Of Wilson And Keiling
According to http://cebcp.org, Broken window model focuses on the importance of
disorder (e.g., broken windows) in generating and sustaining more serious crime.
Wilson and Kelling are the creator of this model. They notice that neighborhoods
who have high crime rate, consider of disreputable people . They are the people who
hang out on the corner, the mental ill who pace back and forth up and down the
streets, and those juvenile delinquents that love to pickpocket other people. Most of
the communities are low income minority communities that Wilson and Keiling
looked at. Wilson and Keiling does not think that poverty, racial segregation, and
residential mobility and other social issues is not the root causes to high crimerates,
They think to restore order needs to be placed in these communityas Nixon will say
Law and Order . They think the government cannot eliminate the root causes.
Policing should be enforce more into the community to create a safe haven for
these communities. By not focusing on social reform, rehabilitation is too costly
and difficult. Wilson said to increase cost of crime by increasing punishment in
prison. It will help measure deterrence, and if it does not work incapacitation. He
also the believe that the root causes is caused by causal fallacy. Wilson and Keiling
believed that officers need to go back to the style of enforcement. They explain that
there should be more foot patrol have officers get know the resident while
maintaining order.

motor control, you sometimes have bouts of unintentional movement, and you feel
that you are not in control of your own body at times. You have no idea what is

There are a few alternatives to using fMRI such as positron emission technology
(PET), but fMRI holds many advantages over PET as fMRI does not require
radioactive injections, its total scan time is usually very short, and it is suitable to
assist in a neurosurgical treatment plan for specific individuals (Columbia University,
2010). In the past few years the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging has
exploded and it has really over flooded the market in terms of its applicability.
There are a multitude of companies that are really pushing this technology for
many different uses such as replacing the polygraph, using it to make life support
withdrawal decisions, and even as a form of risk reduction for dating (Stix, 2008).
This all sounds good in theory but the downside is that these companies are
pushing fMRI technology for all these different uses without having a significant
research performed to back up such hare brained claims. One of the many
weaknesses of why fMRI should not be used in such cases is that the technology
itself could be influencing its own results one way or the other. For starters
magnetic resonance imaging uses distinct pulses of radio waves along with a very
strong, rotating magnetic field, which may strongly interfere with the nearby
circuitry required to process the signals seen to begin with an fMRI scan. The actual
scan itself could be skewing the data obtained (Collins, 2001). The origin of fMRI
signal and the meaning of

In Austin Turk s article, Law as a Weapon in Social Conflict, one of his main
arguments is that there are five ways the law is used as a resource control and a
concept of power which are categorized as the following: Control of the means of
direct physical violence, control of the production, allocation, and/or use of
material resources, control of decision making processes, control of definitions of
and access to knowledge, beliefs, and values, and control of human attention and
living time (Sarat 44 45). The first category implies that one has access to control
agencies, such as the police, to represent himself during a conflict between parties
who reserve the right to use any means of violence or coercion if needed. An

authorities to target him since interracial relationships were forbidden in society.
Sheriff Tate arrested McMillian only because he digressed from the norm by
doing something that was unacceptable to society, and that s why interfered by the

because a) authorities fabricated lies and concocted a false story and b) society
never questioned the legitimacy of the timeline of how the murder took place even
though there were clear discrepancies and altogether the fabrication made no sense
only because of McMillian s distasteful close proximity to a white

Immersing myself in someone else s culture might be my favorite thing. I find it
fascinating that people around the world have so many different ways to interact
with each other. The way they speak, greet, think, eat, behave and generally live
varies vastly depending on the region they reside, and the culture they embody. That
being said, when one of my mom s Egyptian friends invited us for teaat her place I
was more than excited to attend, mainly to get an inside look on a little bit of
Egyptian culture. The tea party was scheduled to begin at 7, but naturally my mom
and I were half an hour late. The funny thing is, despite our tardiness we were some
of the first people there. This was one of the first things I realized was a big
difference: while Americans are monochromic, Egyptiansdefinitely belong to the
polychromic category. It wasn t until around 8 that everyone else showed up, and
the hosts were perfectly fine with and expected people to be late. When we arrived
the host greeted us with hugs and lots of kisses. Egyptian greetings are a lot longer
than what most people are accustomed to. There is this constant unprofessed
confusion in the Arab world on whether you kiss two or three times when greeting
someone, and I can testify that Egyptians kiss about four times. They also ask a lot
of questions while greeting. How have you been? What are you up to? How s
school? How s your family? I haven t seen you in so long! I hope you re doing well.

Palestine has a right, under international and natural law, to self determination under
the borders which existed prior to Israel s formation in 1948. The natural governing
authority of the new Palestinian State to be formed within these borders is the
Palestinian Authority (PLO) currently led by Mahmoud Abbas. Given that land was
stolen from Palestinian natural sovereignty via actions taken by Israel in wars which
Palestine proper was not a participant to, Israel must also pay reparations to the
Palestinian State as well as its citizens so as to compensate for the crimes against
humanity which it has committed over the course of the last several decades.
Cemented by the renunciation of violence which the PLO has undertaken,
Palestinians can no longer be held accountable for the actions of Hamas and other
terrorist groups, and an independent Palestinian state commits to joining the War on

This current study has been formulated on the basis that infants 2 years of age, and
even below, have the cognitive capacity to express preference when manipulating
objects. Previous research which has been observed shares similar concepts with
this current study. This study, conducted by Christopher Newman, Janette
Atkinston, and Oliver Braddick (2001) in which the relationship between looking
preferences and reaching was explored in infants 5 15 months old infants. To be
more specific, they used preferential reaching between objects of different sizes in
infants of different ages to explain the dissociation in the development of visual
processing and orientation in object manipulation. The infants were presented with
cylinders of different sizes, a small, medium, and large cylinder was presented for
the infants to interact with. According to Newman, Atkinson and Braddick (2001),
The largest object was too large for the younger infants to grasp easily with one
hand (p. 563), and this had most likely had a role to play in the preferenceof the
infants. In regards to the results of the study, Newman, Atkinson and Braddick
(2001) found Infants of all ages in this experiment reached almost compulsively for
objects presented to them. However, although 5 8 /2 month old infants showed no
preference when reaching to objects of different sizes, 8 /2 12 month old infants
showed a strong preference for smaller objects (p. 568). It is likely, therefore, that this

employee of the recording which is a violation of privacy rights. Typically courts
disapprove of surveillance activities as it is considered snooping without the
employees consent. To prevent such violations, employers should create notify

surveillance in the area to raise awareness to others that recording was taking place.
This would have been notice to the other teachers and students and they would have

employer. Perhaps the employer should have first conducted a meeting indicating
they had been informed of the issue of stealing from the work place and they would
like to address the issue for everyone s

STRATEGIC ALTERNATIVES
In January 2012, newly appointed CEO, Ron Johnson introduced a plan to rebrand
the department store chain into a 21st century retail powerhouse. Launching of the
new J. C. Penney brand identity was set to occur over four years and would include
a new logo, a new in store experience featuring new and transformed brands, and
most importantly, it would change the way that the company priced merchandise.
Unfortunately, J. C. Penney suffered a 25% sales decline in the first year and
Johnson was fired after only 17 months.
Historically, J. C. Penney s strength had been communicating the relationship between
quality and value, in a way that the customer could understand. J. C. Penney lost this

version of the old pricing strategy.
BACKGROUND AND STATE OF INDUSTRY
Historically, the department store affected every facet of social and economic life
in America. The rise of the department store from the mid 1850s to the end of the
19th century was a major revolution for business and society. It revolutionized the
shopping experience and created an entirely new view of ordinary retail stores.
Endless categories of items from jewelry and accessories to home goods and
furniture were available to all customers under one roof. Department stores found
success in the early years, because they were selling more than just products. They
were selling an entire experience to the American consumer. Known for their low
prices, convenience, experience, and variety, department stores emerged as the iconic
establishments of their time. These stores became mainstream institutions in
downtown areas. Some department stores, such as Filene s, even had restaurants
and tearooms located inside the building. They had services like photo studios and
special events like fashion shows and parades. Macy s Thanksgiving Day Parade is
still a widely popular event today, originating in

Part I of the Prentice Hall Self Assessment provided me with some interesting

new to me. The test covering my basic personality provided me with what I would
consider known information. My scores were spot on for the Extroversion,
Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Emotional stability, but what really
surprised me was my score for openness to experience. In this category I scored a 7
which makes me a moderate low in that area which I find to be the perfect score as
I often have a tendency to lean towards those things that I am most familiar with,
but I also have small interest in the unfamiliar and am slightly open to exploring
new ways of doing things. My Jungian Personality has and always be an ISTJ due
to my need for privacy and structure in my everyday life. Kroeger, Thuesen and

structure, schedule, and order, and their Introversion makes them appear
somewhat cool and aloof (p. 306). For the Type A personality I scored a 111 which
equates to having an A personality. This is about 95% accurate as I am constantly

31. Jfk and the Warren Commission
On 22 November 1963, President John F Kennedy was shot dead as he took part in
a motorcade through the streets of Dallas, Texas. Soon afterwards a man named
Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested and accused of having shot Kennedy from the sixth
floor of the Texas school Depository building . Even though Oswald refused to co
operate and denied all knowledge of the assassination, he was formerly charged the
next day, on the 23 November. However, he never stood trial as just two days later
Oswald himself was shot dead by Jack Ruby, a Dallas night club owner, as he was
being taken from police headquarters to court. As Jack Ruby went to prison and the
police had no longer a suspect to question, President Lyndon Baines Johnson, set up a

However the events that took place afterwards, played an important part in
Oswalds conviction. This incident was another murder, this time of a policeman,
Officer J D Tipppit, who was shot through the head at point blank range. A witness,
Mrs Helen Markham, stated that Tippit had stopped to question a man who
produced a gun and shot Tippit before running off. Oswald was charged for Tippit s
murder as ballistics confirmed that the spent cartridges found beside Tippit s body
were of the type used in the .38 Smith and Wesson revolver found on Oswald when
he was arrested. Mrs Markham also identified Oswald from an identity parade as
the murderer. This incident indicated that Oswald was indeed capable of murder.
There also didn t appear to be any clear motive for the murder and the police
presumed that Oswald had panicked and had shot Tippit when he had stopped to
question him. But why had Oswald panicked? He may have been on edge if he had
just murdered the President and could have overreacted!
All this evidence against Oswald and the overwhelming number of eyewitnesses that
had come forward, was enough to find Oswald guilty of murder at the time. However,
the Warren Commissionalso investigated Oswalds background and found that he was
a strange and enigmatic figure. It was evident that he had a fairly unstable and
troubled past, which to most people accounted for his behaviour and the manner in
which he had allegedly
32. Essay on On Feminism and Postmodernism
On Feminism and Postmodernism
It seems fitting that the marriage of feminism and postmodernism is one fraught with
both difference and argument. The fact that these disagreements occur within the
realm of the intellectual undoubtedly puts a wry smile on the face of either party.
While feminism and postmodernism share several characteristics, most notably the
deconstruction of the masculinised western ideology, feminism chooses to place
itself within the absolutism of the modernist movement. While feminism argues for
the continuation of the subject/object dichotomy, aiming largely to reverse the
feminine position of the latter to the former, postmodernism would have the
modernist movement deconstructed in its entirety, including ... Show more content on

To begin with, I will attempt to define both feminism and postmodernism. In its
simplest form, feminism can be summarized as a movement from the point of, by,
and for women (Moi, 1988:9). Extending this further, feminism aims to reverse the
power directives of modernist metanarratives while remaining both historically and
theoretically a modernist movement (Hekerman 1990:2). Feminism aims to subvert
the traditional roles that masculine and feminine play within the modernist
dichotomy of subject/object. Historically, women have been prescribed the category
of the object. In regards to the masculine subject, this works to further weaken the
agency of the object by labeling the object as other .
In effect, it was this very labeling of the female as other that was the starting point
for contemporary feminist theory (Mascia Lees Sharpe, 2000:22). By labeling the
female as other , the dominant patriarchal discourse of modernism retains its position
as subject (2000:22). Feminism aims to reverse the power relations of such modernist
binary arguments, allowing those labeled as other the chance to claim the title of
subject (2000:23). Nevertheless, the fact remains that modernism is ultimately a
patriarchal discourse, a discourse effective only in its entirety and is thus unable to
be cropped to the liking of feminists (Hekman, 1990:6). As a result, by remaining

On 12 October 2000, a 505 foot Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer named
the USS Cole, was attacked by two suicide bombers while anchored in the port of
Aden, Yemen for refueling. The U.S. Navy destroyer, manned by a crew of 293,
had been in transit from the Mediterranean Sea to the Arabian Gulf to support
United Nations Security Resolutions involving Iraq. The suicide bombers had
utilized a small motorboat laden with explosives to move in close to their intended
target. Within seconds, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, ripping a
40 foot hole in the half inch reinforced steel plated port side of the hull. While the
heroic actions of the crew saved the vessel, seventeen U.S. Navy sailors were killed

Further, CI investigations play a vital role in resolving acts that are considered to be a
threat to national security. Then Secretary of Defense William Cohen immediately
launched an investigation into the attack on the Cole. Within hours of the deadly
blast, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence
Agency (CIA), and a contingent of individuals from the Pentagon s Fleet Anti
Terrorist Support Team were dispatched to investigate the scene. In addition, U.S.
Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) sent a task force to conducted a
separate investigation into the bombing. While in Yemen, these agents developed a
close working relationship with the Yemeni government and in the process,
orchestrated one of the largest ever investigations regarding a crime that was
committed outside of the U.S. It was discovered through the course of these
investigations that the bombing was conducted by al Qa ida, which had considered
the Cole to be a symbol of American power and policy in the Middle East.
Investigations by the NCIS task force found solid evidence that linked the attack to
Osama bin Laden.
In addition, the Department of Defense (DoD) USS Cole Commission Report
discovered that the DoD had failed to allocate enough resources to all source
intelligence analysis and collections, functions which are deemed critical to
counterterrorism. It further stated in transit units need adequately manned CI

When Miguel appeared at the flight school where I was an instructor, there was no
indication of the relationship we would develop or of the adventures to come. I
would have laughed at anyone crazy enough to suggest that within a year he and I
would pilot a single engine plane from Phoenix, Arizona to Santiago, Chile. No
one could have predicted that along the way a woman in a remote village would
try to give us her baby or that we would find ourselves buzzing an airstrip to chase
away festival celebrants so we could land. The school offered a lesson called An
Intro Flight. Even though it wasn t really a lesson, the school advertised it as such
and offered it at a discount. The owners were hoping to entice people who d never
been up in a small plane to try the experience. Of course, the reason behind the
lesson was the belief that after the flight, people would fall in love with flying and
sign up for a series of lessons. The promotion was a joke. Earning a private pilot s
license involves 40 or more hours of flight time, qualifying grades on written
examinations, and passing a practical application test known as a check ride. There
is also an oral exam. Oh, and the cost exceeds $5,000. With one exception, people
attracted by the $35.00 lesson never signed up for another at full price; so they
certainly wouldn t commit to the additional time, effort, and expense of earning a
certificate. Unlike most schools, filled with teenagers dreaming of growing up to be
35. Crystallization Is A Pure Substance
The main objective in crystallization is to produce a pure substance. A chemist is able
to achieve this by isolating the pure form from the impure form, using methods of
dissolving, cooling/crystallizing, and filtration. It is also important to select the best
solvent to crystallize the material; the best solventshows the desired solubility
behavior (Pavia et al 26).
These techniques were used to produce the pure forms of sulfanilamide and fluorene.
After the filtration step in the first experiment, the pure sulfanilamide appeared to be
a mix of small, white and yellowish crystals, resembling a powder. However,
sulfanilamide should have crystallized into large needles, which indicated that either
there was too little solvent or the crystals formed too quickly. As shown on Data Table
1, the percent yield was 69%, therefore implying that the crystallization of
sulfanilamide experiment was not completely successful a lower yield will indicate
purer results. Therefore, there are still amounts of impurities in the pure
sulfanilamide. Several errors throughout the course of the experiment could have
contributed to a high yield, such as not adding enough solvent to dissolve the solute
completely, or not completely separating the crystals after crystallization. By not
separating the crystals, this most likely caused the crystals to regain its yellow color;
the pure sulfanilamide should have looked white. Another possible error could have
not been letting the heated solution with

The Holocaust will forever be known as one of the largest genocides ever recorded
in history. 11 million perished, and 6 million of the departed were Jewish. The
concentration camps where the prisoners were held were considered to be the
closest one could get to a living hell. There is no surprise that the men, women, and
children there were afraid. One was considered blessed to have a family member

Wiesel tries doing everything he can to make sure his father is doing well. In some

was thinking of my father. He must have suffered more than I did (Wiesel 56). This

and for a father to see his son getting whipped without being able to do anything can

His father is his only hope, and Wiesel was his father s. Wiesel truly want to be with

41. The Chicano and The Black Power Movements Essay
The 1960 s comprised of many different movements that sought the same goal of
achieving equality, equality in means of: political, economical, and social equality.
Two similar movements emerged during this era that shared the same ideologies: the
Chicano and the Black Power Movement. Both shared a similar ideology that outlined
their movement, which was the call for self determination. The similar experiences
that they had undergone such as the maltreatment and the abuse of power that
enacted was enacted by the dominant Anglo race helped to shape these ideologies.
Despite their similar ideology, they differed in how they achieved this goal, by either

Jim Crow laws made segregation legal in the Deep South, thus enforcing the
superiority of whites and the privileges given to them, such as cleaner and better
facilities that accommodated them. It was a reaction to the government s failure to
deliver the promises they made. Chicanos and African American alike had the dignity
to not depend on the states to give them their rights, but they were willing to give
themselves their own rights, pushing for Chicano and Black Nationalism.
The growing racism and discrimination that both races experienced helped to mold
their similar ideologies as both sought for the end of these negative acts. For example,
most people connect lynching to African Americans during this movement, but what
is left unsaid is that Mexican Americans were also lynched as well. In the Deep South
a group that was prominently known for lynching in the south was the Ku Klux Klan.
The western south states that bordered Mexico also had terrorizing groups whose
lynching was targeted towards Mexican Americans rather than African Americans:
the Ku Klux Klan and the Texas Rangers. These groups continuously assaulted
minority groups as they saw them as inferior and a threat to the American culture.
What angered the Chicanos and the African Americans most was not that their people
were continuously being assaulted, but because these groups got away with it. The
government failed to see these acts as a crime. In most

Ishmael was young, the elders used to gather all the children to hear a story. They

and said if the hunter shot him, his mother would die. If he let him live, his father
would die. Then the elders would pose the unanswerable children: do you shoot the
monkey or let it live? While none of the other children could come up with an
answer, Ishmael had a solution that he kept secret; he would shoot the monkey, so it
would not be able to put anyone else in the situation. The significance to the memoir
here is that Ishmael was put in a situation that seemed to have no clear solutions, just
like the hunter. He struggled with his own kind of monkey, but in the end, what he
sees as important is that no one else is ever put into that situation. Ishmael is
essentially saying that no one else should ever be forced to be a child soldier, and

The National Basketball Association (NBA) was founded on June 6, 1949 in New

total of 30 teams in the NBA, each worth about $1.25 billion, making the whole
league worth about $37.5 billion. The mastermind behind the NBA s huge profits are
the white collared team owners who watch over the respected team franchises for

Misconseptions on the other hand, are derived from stereotypes of a group that
have no origin for the misconseption. Misconseptions are unfounded assumptions a
person does or has because he or she is in the group. For example, in the 1990 s at
the height of the AIDS/HIV scare, it was believed homosexuals are more likely to
contract the virus than heterosexuals. The misconseptoion has no basis or any study
to back it up and future studies proved that everyone is at equal risk to contract the
virus during unprotected sex, which ended the misconseption.
Now that stereotypes and misonceptions are understood, it s time to switch gears to
discuss NBA team owners. I have been watching the NBA since 2013, watching my
favorite team while not having a single thought about the higher ups of NBA teams.
But my view changed quickly in 2014, similar to many other fans, when the Donald

Expert opinion evidence is admissible when it provides the court with information

kinds of machinery, documents, medical conditions or other relevant field. They are
to educate the court about matters which lie within their specialisation or to convey
relevant aspects of their knowledge, skill, or experience to the court. This is due to
the assumption that the court is unfamiliar with such area of knowledge or skill.
The experts must also offer opinion evidence which is related in their field of
expertise, or the experts have to provide an opinion which is relevant to an issue in
the case; otherwise, the opinion of the expert will be inadmissible.
The court may occasionally ask an expert to provide evidence of facts too. For
example, the court may ask an expert on a particular machine to give evidence on
how it operates, if it is relevant to an issue in the
46. Money Can t Buy Happiness
It is often said that, Money can t buy happiness. In Cass R. Sunstein s Yes, Money
Can Make You Happy, Sunstein provides a summary and review of Elizabeth Dunn
and Michael Norton s Happy Money: The Science of Happier Spending; he declares
that money, when spent wisely and with the right attitude, can provide the most
elusive of all human experiences: happiness. In a changing social climate with
advances in technology offering unmatched convenience, and a culture in which
diverse people with equally diverse sets of values come together, the study of what
truly makes us happy is especially relevant now more than ever. While money can
certainly be spent in a manner which will create happiness, what Sunstein neglects to
address in his writing is that more money does not always equate to more happiness,
regardless of how and when it is spent.
In Sunstein s first argument, he asserts that an experience, such as a vacation,
provides a lasting memory which can be reflected upon for years to come; whereas a
purchase, such as a new car, evokes a temporary happiness to which we become
desensitized very quickly. Secondly, he contends that using money to create special
treats, combined with a third argument of delaying gratification, will create an
anticipation of the future that allows us to be happier in the present. Further, Sunstein
insists that spending money to buy time used to spend with friends a family will
enhance our abilities to be happier; lastly, that the act of spending
47. The American Dream Failure
What is truly the American Dream that people have been trying to achieve all these
years? Is it that Dream of making it big in America, where people hear the
successes stories from rags to riches or does it go beyond things like money,
expensive cars and houses. The American dream itself has no set definition to its
meaning, people can only assign what they think is the right term for it. For this
paper and research on the American DreamThe definition that I came up with is that
the achievement of the American Dream does not come from possessions but more
so from each person personal achievement of happiness while not interfering with
others achievement of happiness. While this definition of the American dream is
broad it is already not achievable.
48. The Effects Of Folk Music On American History
Odetta After reading the articles about folk music as well as articles about the
famous folk singer, Odetta Holmes, I have learned that, folk music is music with
lyrics that contain social issues, economic issues, hardships as well as relationship
difficulties. Folk music is traditionally played with no more than a acoustic guitar or
banjo. I have also learned that folk musichas been around for a very long time and
is, perhaps, the very first genre of music that started all around the world. Folk
music is basically the roots of the particular society that it is being played and sang
at. Folk music has been around in many countries such as, Ireland, England,
America, and many other European Countries. Folk music significantly plays a huge
part in U.S. history. Folk music is significant to American history because, it
discuses a vast amount of different problems and historical events that have
happened throughout U.S. history. An example of this is, singing about wars was a
popular topic, along with political issues, economic issues, labor issues, relationship
issues, as well as many others throughout the years of American history. These vast
amount of topics and hardships in these songs not only show how these people felt
at the time, but can also show an actual timeline of events that happened in U.S.
history. I will be discussing one of these famous and important folk singers, Odetta
Holmes. I will be analyzing and discussing her life and success in her
50. French and American Criminal Justice Systems Essay
French and American Criminal Justice Systems
There many different criminal justice systems in the world today. Some that
consists of many of the same policies and some that are considerably different. In
the case of France and the U.S. there are a lot of similarities, but I will be focusing
on the differences between each of their systems. The aspects that I will be
comparing are police, courts, the legal profession, legal education, criminal
procedural law, corrections, and juvenile justice and the advantages and disadvantages
of each.
The policing system in France is a lot different than the one in the U.S. In France
there is one big centralized police system run by the government. Unlike the
fragmented police model, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In France they have the Constitutional council which has nine members serving a
nine year term, they are responsible for election complaints and the legislation made
in parliament. The advantage of this is that it reduces the conflict of jurisdictions. But
the disadvantage is that our Supreme Court has a longer term than the Constitutional
Council which allows more constant laws and fewer laws that will contradict each
other.
The aspect of legal profession and legal education is also extremely different. To
become a judge in France you must first obtain a law degree from a university law
school. Next you must gain admission to the National School for the Judiciary at
Bordeaux (Terrill 236). After completing this school, the candidate is now qualified
to become a judge. The French system allows judges to begin their profession at an
early age which could be a disadvantage because of lack of experience in the system,
where judges in the United States are usually older and more knowledgeable.
The legal education is noticeably different from America. In France, students enter a
university when they are approximately 18 years old, after they have completed
their high school education with an award of the baccalaureate diploma (Terrill
242). In America you must go through undergraduate and graduate law school, and
then pass the bar in order to get your law degree. It s an advantage because students
in France start their career a
51. Racism And Racism In Othello
At the end of the 16th century people burned cats for sport, hunted witches, and the
leach was the pinnacle of medical technology. However, they did get one thing right.
16th century englishmen had views on interracial marriage that were arguably more
sophisticated than those of the American South until as recently as 2009.
Shakespeare s Othelloillustrates this with how the Venetians treat the protagonist,
Othello. He is treated as not only equal but in many cases superior and senior. Racism
in Othello is remarkable, because of its absence, yet we find it challenging to hear
shakespeare s words without projecting our experience of racism onto them.
Shakespeare s Othello is remarkably tolerant of racial differences that would soon
come to shame the western world. Othello, the moor is held in high esteem. His
marriage to Desdemona is almost immediately accepted by Venetian society. Othello
is a play about a virtuous marriage that meets a tragic end brought about by jealousy
and deceit.
There is great opposition to the announcement of Othello s marriage to
Desdemona. At the heart of racist thinking is opposition to such interracial
marriages. An interracial marriage in 17 of the United States could result in a
prison sentence until Loving vs Virginia in 1967 which set love free of racism by
statute. The first suggestion that Desdemona has been compromised and stolen
from Brabantio by a clandestine marriage to Othello is met with similar thoughts of
crime and punishment. However, Shakespeare confuses the crime by explicitly
characterizing it as witchcraft. Brabantio says, That with some mixtures powerful o
er the blood, / Or with some dram conjured to this effect, / He wrought upon her
(1.3.123 24). Witchcraft to us is not a credible accusation, but at the end of the 16th
century, it most assuredly was life threatening. The audience must interpret if
Brabantio s fury stems from the loss of his daughter to an unacceptable marriage
with a black man or from the betrayal of his position by the fact that his loving
daughter kept the knowledge of the courtship from him. Shakespeare is clear that
opposition to the marriage falls away once the process Othello used to win her heart
is made clear. Othello himself
