Comparison And Contrast Essays
Composing an essay on the subject of "Comparison and Contrast Essays" presents a unique set
of challenges that require a thoughtful approach and a keen understanding of the intricacies
involved. The difficulty lies not only in grasping the core concepts of the topic but also in
effectively conveying the nuances of comparing and contrasting two or more subjects.
One of the primary challenges is striking the right balance between providing a comprehensive
analysis and avoiding information overload. It requires the writer to meticulously select relevant
points of comparison, ensuring that they are significant and contribute meaningfully to the
overall understanding of the subjects. Managing the flow of the essay becomes crucial, as
seamlessly transitioning between comparisons and contrasts is vital for coherence.
Moreover, the writer must navigate the fine line between highlighting similarities and differences
without sounding repetitive or disjointed. Crafting a thesis statement that succinctly captures the
essence of the essay and sets the tone for the entire piece is another hurdle. This involves
synthesizing complex ideas into a clear and concise statement that guides the reader through the
ensuing comparative analysis.
In addition to content challenges, there is a considerable emphasis on the structural elements of
the essay. Organizing information in a logical manner, whether through a block or point-by-point
method, requires careful consideration. Ensuring a smooth and coherent progression between
paragraphs and sections is essential for facilitating reader comprehension.
Furthermore, the research process can be demanding, as it necessitates a comprehensive
exploration of the subjects being compared and contrasted. Adequate and accurate information is
crucial for developing a well-informed and persuasive essay.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of comparison and contrast essays can be a rewarding
endeavor. It not only enhances critical thinking skills but also hones the ability to articulate
complex ideas effectively. With practice and dedication, navigating the intricacies of this essay
type becomes more manageable.
In conclusion, crafting a comparison and contrast essay demands a combination of analytical
prowess, organizational finesse, and effective communication skills. It is an undertaking that,
when approached with diligence, can result in a thought-provoking and well-crafted piece of
writing.

and procedures for storing and retrieving information 1.1 Explain the purpose of
storing and retrieving required information The main purpose of storing
information is for easy retrieval in the future when it is required. Storing certain
information may be part of company policy. There will be procedures in place in
order to make sure files are stored correctly and in line with data protection.
Depending on the type of information, information can be stored in either filing
cabinets or electronically. Depending on the nature of the business, different types of
information will have to be stored, for example a legal practice needs information

OFF, by Mortis Ghost
What truly makes a villain to us? Is it the need to cause mayhem, a long,
resounding evil laugh? Or just someone whose values run in opposition to ours?
Whatever the case may be, we perceive these characters carefully, recognizing them
almost instantly as forces to be reckoned with That is, most of the time. In the next
few paragraphs I aim to explore why what the most frightening of villains terrify us
the most. Mortis Ghost s OFF , a french RPG from 2007, will be our setting for this
phenomenal antagonist. This indie game features a delightful soundtrack, strategic
turn based combat, and an increasingly dark storyline. The adventure begins with
you, the player, being assigned to control a stoic hero known as The Batter . If he
expressed emotions, he would be probably be indifferent to your being his puppeteer.
Regardless, you and he proceed through a land called Zone0, entrusted by some
unknown force with the task of purifying the land. You encounter a stray, eloquent
and articulate cat calling itself The Judge . It assists you in getting oriented in the
world, and guides you safety through the deserted landscape and to the cusp of the
first inhabited zone, Zone 1. It departs, promising to see you again. As you advance
through Zones 1, 2, and 3, The Batter continues to insist he is the savior of the world,
sent to purify the evils within. The timid and neurotic inhabitants known as Elsen
more or less welcome his presence, especially when tormented by spectres
Carnegie s Work Rhetorical Analysis
Carnegie offers many way and approaches to communicate and deal with people and
therefore by applying his methods become a more effective leader. Carnegie shares
simple key techniques to create instant rapport and influence others. This could have
been used as the human intelligence collector s nineteenth century field manual.
Three central techniques for dealing with people: Don t criticize, condemn or
complain, give honest and sincere appreciation, and arouse in the other person an
eager want. (p.16). Criticism is dangerous and arouses resentment. In the contrary, we
should understand the others. Carnegie explains that, Criticism is futile because it
puts a person on the defensive. Additionally, he asks, what do we all want? , feeling...

When doing this, one often finds out that he/she will admit his/her own fault and

DORIS LESSING S TO ROOM 19 SYMBOLS
TO Room 19: SYMBOLS Women in patriarchal societies are brought up to have
certain values, like to have a desire to be good mothers and good wives. However, as
much as they try to do these things, they find that their passions and instincts are put
down and this leads to misery and insanity. Women have voiced their concerns about
the problems of being a womanin a man s society for years. Feminist literature existed
before feminismas a movement did. Finally, in the 20th century, this led to the
second and third waves of feminism criticizing the limitations of patriarchal and
sexist society for women. Doris Lessing in her story To Room Nineteen uses many
symbols to explain how women in patriarchal society feel oppressed and unfulfilled.

While Susan s madness can be explained as the result of the clash between her
impulsive, complex personality and the orderliness of the Victorian Angel, it can
also be seen as resulting from the conflict between her private wishes and the
public expectations that were placed on her, and on women in general. (Sandoiu)
The common social problems of women are why neither one of them, Susan or
Matthew, can look at any part of their marriage and say, For the sake of this is all
the rest (253). Matthew does everything in his power to make Susan happy, asking
her how her day was ( not as interesting, but that was not her fault ), and trying to
support her because both knew of the hidden resentment and deprivations of the
woman who lived her own life... and is now dependent on a husband (254).
Matthew does cheat on her, but Susan and Matthew end up agreeing that this is
natural (255). All of this, however, makes Susan feel that she was being poison[ed]
by resentment and that she was a prisoner (263). As the narrator explains, She must
tell Matthew but what? She was filled with emotions that were utterly ridiculous,
that she despised... (264). Like many women, Susan was trying her best to be happy
and grateful in a situation that she emotionally hated. The symbols of poison and
prison, both slow and dreadful, are used to emphasize how Susan can be suffering
even as she seems good on the outside. Her entire
Literary Theories on Marxism
The three analytic paragraphs on the song Zombie, the essay entitled The Closing of
the (North) American Mind, and the documentary film Born Into Brothels showcase
the literary theories on Marxism, Post colonial criticism, and feminism. The
paragraphs show how people struggle in their own societies in different aspects,
politically and socially. Because all three pieces show struggle in all texts, the
unifying theme is how people react and overcome the struggles that they face.

Another post colonial issue seen in the text was the issue of power dynamics.
Being a colony of a powerful empire, the colonized are subjects of the colonizers.
Because of rising tensions between the colonized and the colonizers, both are
struggling to gain power and influence over the people. The IRA, being the
colonized, prevents the colonizers from gaining any more power in their land. The
colonizers, on the other hand, lose its influence and power over the colonized as the
people became more aware and active in the independence movement. The
independence movement in Ireland started in the 1920s, a period when the British
Empire was starting to fall apart. The conflict between the two warring factions had
resulted into a bloodbath since the start of their resistance to the colonizers. Because
of the hatred against the colonizers, the oppressed colonized people fought back in
order to remove them physically and mentally out of their land. The power struggle
between the two belligerent nations had disrupted peace in the country, which
resulted to many innocent deaths. This is evident in the text when the resistance
fighters and the colonizers are fighting with their tanks and their bombs, and their
bombs and their guns (O Riordan). War for power and influence had made Ireland
into a dangerous society where its people use force as a means of expressing their
sentiments against colonial rule. Issues in

1. How does the motion of the tectonic plates affect the climate?
It is thought that the change in ocean currents is caused by plate tectonics generating
more heat. It is said that the increased volcanic eruptions from plate tectonics causes a
greater release of carbon and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere. This raises the
temperature around the world. (Raunekk, 2010).

His Everlasting Moment of Intimacy Essay
In the widely acclaimed novel Catching Fire , the fictional character Peeta Mellark is
quoted as saying, I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in
it forever. (Collins). Coincidentally, that is what the unnamed lover in Robert
Browning s dramatic monologue Porphyria s Lover aspires to achieve when he
murders his beloved Porphyria, in hopes of preserving their intimate moment for
eternity. At the start of the poem, Browning seemingly shows his audience a loving,
romantic scene of Porphyria affectionately tending her inert beau. As the dramatic
monologueprogresses, it is learned that the originally envisioned romantic love story
has transformed into a disturbing tale of a cruel lover s massacre of his... Show more

He does this when he refers to Porphyria in a peculiarly different way after she has
died: The smiling rosy little head, / So glad it has its utmost will, / And I, its love,
am gained instead! (52 53, 55). The persona, through synecdoche, addresses his
dead lover as only a head and continues to objectify her by calling her it . The
speaker s objectification of his beloved shows how he only views Porphyria as an
object that he owns a mere possession. He also stresses about how Porphyria has
gained him, when in actuality what he really means is that now he finally owns her
forever. This clearly illustrates his outrageous and crazy way of thinking as he
fulfills his never ending moment with Porphyria by murdering her, and diminishes
her later into a simple possession that he could do whatever he wishes to do with.
Therefore, Browning makes use of adept word choices in order to display the
persona s extreme possessiveness and irrationality. In addition, Browning blatantly
uses imagery to convey the persona s deliriousness, and obsessiveness towards his
lover. In the poem, Browning noticeably visualizes the events that have just occurred
in the monologue, while at the same time he effectively illustrates the underlying
meaning behind its imagery to reveal the persona s nature. It is visualized in the
piece, Blushed bright beneath my burning kiss; (48). If
Isabel I Of Spain Research Paper
Undoubtedly the discovery of America in the hands of the Spanish navigator
Christopher Columbus was the most outstanding fact of the fifteenth century. A new
source of trade, wealth and the discovery of a new culture were the most important
consequences for the development of Spain. Isabella I of Castile, also called Isabel
the Catholic, by her strong religious faith, was a prerequisite for this discovery
because she placed her trust and financed the trip, with the goal of opening a new
route for commercial exchanges.
Isabel was born on April 22nd of 1451 in Castile, Spain. Her parents were John II of
Castile and Isabel of Portugal. She spent her first years in the company of her brother
Alfonso, and her mother, a woman that had a passion for ... Show more content on

When she turned eighteen, in 1469, they got married, officially sealing the

his sister, after being recognized as the heir of the Kingdom, in the pact Bulls of
Guisando in 1468 by Enrique IV, and rehabilitated in succession to his daughter Juana.
Once King Henry IV died in 1474, an arduous succession dispute arose. The nobility
was divided into two sections, one faction recognized Isabel and the other faction
proposed Juana. This discordance marked the beginning of a terrible civil war.
Juana was sidelined, despite having the Portuguese support for being espoused by
Alfonso V of Portugal, and her aunt took over as Queen Isabel in 1474. In 1479, her
husband Ferdinand II of Aragon inherited the throne with Castile and Aragon, which
merged the two crowns.
The proposal of the two monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, was shared to strengthen
the real power within their kingdoms, stimulate the economy of Spain. For promoting
the monarchy, the Holy Brotherhood was created, an institution that dealt jointly to
ensure public order and enforced the administration of justice and the Royal Council

Vampire Squid Research Paper
The deep sea cephalopod called the vampire squid is a very unique organism. In
1903 it was found and classified as a octopus. The scientist thought this because it
shares traits with the squid and with the octopus. Another common name for the
vampire squid is the squid from hell. the name comes from the colors of the squid.
The squid colors can vary from velvet jet black to a pale reddish color. Their color
depends on where they are located meaning how much light they reach. Even though
is says it is a vampiresquid, it does not feed off of blood. Scientist do not know
much of what they eat. They do know they do not eat very much and they somewhat
feeds off of detritus. These types of squids are found in the tropical oceans of the

Scientist think that vampire squids reproduce by the male leaving sperm in the
female s sac. Females store the sperm for weeks before the eggs are fertilized. It
takes about thirteen months for the babies to be born. Because they are born
bigger, the female will have fewer babies than other species. Their is no certain
time that they are breaded the eggs are found all year around. Many deep sea
cephalopods do not have ink sacs. Vampire squids are also in that category. When
it feels threatened it almost turns itself inside out by curling its arms backwards
and wrapping them around its body. When they do this their body showing spiny
projections. It many also eject a sticky bioluminescent cloud. The cloud is like
luminous garbage that last somewhere around ten minutes. In that then minutes
whatever they are threatened by will not be able to see. This allows the squid to
swim away into the deep dark sea, but because the sea is so dark they do not even
have to move far for their predators to not be able to see them. Some interesting
things about the vampire squids is that they have the largest eyes for its size body
than any animal on earth. Their eyes are about an inch long and are very bright blue.
The predators of the vampire squids are bigger fish, whales, and
Heroism In Odysseus
An ancient Greek epic sung by Homer, The Odyssey explains Odysseus journey home
after the Trojan War. Throughout his journey, the reader notices many aspects of
heroism, power, and leadership. According to Google, a hero portrays an admired
person, idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. One does
not need to inherit wealth or power to display heroism. Instead, a person must obtain
kindness and care, support, and think about each other. Illuminating selflessness and
humbleness are additional qualities many heroes depict. Furthermore, heroes master
the art of persuasion, make necessary sacrifices, and act accordingly for the
betterment of society and life. Eumaios and AntГnoos convey the claim that every

Though he might lose his life while helping Odysseus defeat the suitors, one must
recognize that Eumaios has never been unfaithful to Odysseus and the court of
Ithaka. After many years, he still supports Odysseus and decides to fight alongside
him and bring goodness to the island (Ithaka). Showing courage with his support,
Eumaios and the other men defeat the suitors in a heroic matter. Therefore, Eumaios
illuminates the idea that a human being does have the potential to portray heroism.
AntГnoos shows the idea that whether good or evil, every human has a chance to
portray themselves as a hero. Throughout the epic, there are some examples in which
the evil AntГnoos supports his fellow suitors. When Telemakhus begins to blame the
suitors for snatching the court of Ithaka, causing damage to their home, and defying
the value of Xenia, AntГnoos argues, You want to shame us, and humiliate us, but...
it is your own dear, incomparably cunning mother. For three years now... she has been
breaking the hearts... (Book II). Using the art of persuasion, AntГnoos describes the
pain all the suitors fell due to the fact that Penelope has not chosen a suitor. Though a
hero fights for a beneficial cause, AntГnoos support towards the other suitors displays
his heroic side in which others can believe and trust him for. However, due to his
carelessness towards some people, his evil side is revealed more than his heroic
actions.

An Economy Or Economic System
An economy or economic system consists of the production, distribution or trade, and
consumption of limited goods and services by different agents in a given
geographical location. The economic agents can be individuals, businesses,
organizations, or governments. Transactions occur when two parties agree to the
value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain
currency.
In the past, economic activity was theorized to be bounded by natural resources,
labor, and capital. This view ignores the value of technology, and innovation,
especially that which produces intellectual property.
A given economy is the result of a set of processes that involves its culture, values,
education, technological evolution, history, social organization, political structure
and legal systems, as well as its geography, natural resource endowment, and ecology,
as main factors. These factors give context, content, and set the conditions and
parameters in which an economy functions. The largest national economies by
continent are: the United States in the Americas, Germany in Europe, Nigeria in
Africa, China in Asia and Australia in Oceania.
A market based economy is where goods and services are produced without
obstruction or interference, and exchanged according to demand and supply between
participants by barter or a medium of exchange with a credit or debit value accepted
within the network, such as a unit of currency and at some free market or market

Research Paper Since the Constitution of the United States was written, Americans
have practiced their right to freedom of speech as a way to express their point of
view on issues facing the country. Over time, voicing one s opinion went from
outspoken newspaper articles to large rallies, and during the Vietnam War, music
was a prevalent tool in aiding the protests. Allowing political messages to be shared
nationally, the music had touched the lives of the younger generation. Author Jerome

Initially, wars involving the United States were typically well supported by the people,
but the abhorrence towards the military s actions in Vietnam lead musical artists to
stand in opposition to the war, encouraging the anti war movement.
As the war persisted, not everyone s voice was being heard. To quickly spread the
message to a wider demographic, American musical artists incorporated political
beliefs into their music. For example, Jimi Hendrix wrote songs such as Machine
Gun to show his disdain towards the war, but the biggest statement he made was his
performance at Woodstock. Creating his own interpretation of The Star Spangled
Banner , Hendrix would always be remembered as taking a stand against the political
leaders in charge of the United State s involvement in Vietnam. The effect Hendrix
created is captured by author Desmond Manderson as he explains the performance
had interrogated the memory and ideals of the United States ... explicitly contrasting
old with new, patriotism with violence, and victimhood with aggression (315). Also,
the rock group The Doors contributed to the movement by writing the song
Unknown Soldier , which depicts the real tragedy of a soldier s fate. One of the most

Introduction of Allergic Asthma
Asthma is a common long term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs.
Asthma The typical pathophysiological features of asthma include chronic
eosinophilic inflammation of the airways, mucus overproduction, airway
hyperresponsiveness (AHR) and eventual progression to airway remodeling. As the
most common type of asthma, Allergic asthma is characterized by irreversible
obstruction and chronic inflammation of the airways.

The use of animal models of asthma has dramatically increased our understanding of
the underlying mechanisms of allergic asthma. The importance of Th2 cytokines
have been highlighted by numerous studies in mice. Specifically, Th2 lymphocytes
produce various proinflammatory cytokines that have important roles in the
development of allergic asthma, including a unique profile of interleukin (IL) 4, IL 5
and IL 13. What s more, they can also induce secretion of allergen‑specifc
immunoglobulin (Ig) E, chemokines , and eosinophils, as well as mucus production.
Ovalbumin Induced Asthma Model
Mouse models for allergic asthma have been developed that depend on exposure to
environmental factors, such as ovalbumin (OVA), house dust mite (HDM),
cockroach, birch pollen, and Alternaria alternata, among which the most extensively
used one is the OVA induced
Pro Genetic Engineering
Science and technology throughout history have been the foundation of society.
Without it, the human race would still be in the prehistoric age. Successes in health
sciences helped in prolonging human life and to survive deadly diseases. Science and
technology are also the catalyst for multiple revolutions in human history. An
example is the industrial revolution. However, every success always comes with a
price. During the industrial revolution, cities became flooded with people causing
discomfort, the pollution became rampant, and social divide widened. Now that the
information age is in full blast with breakthroughs in science and technology
happening almost every day, humanity is on the verge of another scientific
revolution. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Advocates for the banning of the practice is saying that humanity is playing God,
and society fears that it is another form of eugenics. Their concern is not without
basis. History shows that society has tried to manipulate the gene pool to produce
better offspring, however, research in genetic engineering should continue and
society should support it because it could save millions of lives. According to the
United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, it is estimated that over 1000 to 4000
American children are born with mitochondrial diseases each year (Chappell).
Mitochondrial diseases range from Creatine Deficiency Syndrome, Leigh s
Disease, and Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency (United). Children with
such diseases are condemned to a life long suffering even before they were born.
However, science found a way to mitigate the problem in the form of mitochondrial
donation. It works by extracting mitochondrial DNA from a healthy female and
transplanting it to an infected DNA of another female. The procedure comes with
a risk, some of them are still unknown due to the infancy of the experiment
nevertheless, giving an infant a fighting chance in life than being doomed before
he or she reach his or her first birthday is a big benefit of the experiment. Genetic
engineering also helps mankind in its struggle for food sustainability. Multiple
country in Asia has rice as their staple food, and due to poverty, they can only
afford rice and other supplemental food. The result are children growing up
malnourished. As a response the International Rice Research Institute developed a
rice, with the help of genetic engineering that is infused with vitamin A. They
dubbed it Golden Rice . As Gary Toenniessen, a member of the Rockefeller
Foundation who is in support of the research says, It s a great product. And it s
beautiful! It looks just like saffron rice (qtd. in
Why Did The Us Invade Afghanistan
Why did the US invade Afghanistan in 2001?
Theoretically, it holds that the United States (US) invaded Afghanistan as a self
defense strategy following the 9/11 attacks. Practically, however, as US foreign
policy is about conquest, self protection and resource extraction, it seeks strategic
dominance of geographical space to sustain its global relevance. The rationality of the
US suggests the need to continuously accumulate capital, resources and military
proficiency to ensure autonomy. Therefore, a pragmatic reading into the motivation
behind the invasion of Afghanistan negates the self defense theory. Rather, the
shifting coordinates of power within central and southern Asia crafted the perfect
criteria for US intervention. This work explores the motivations and systemic cover
ups designed by the Bush administration in ordering military troops into Afghanistan
in 2001. It will hold that this invasion was not just a War on Terror, but rather a tactic
to ensure US prevalence within the region, and henceforth, the rest of the world.
Thus, why did the US invade Afghanistan?
At the start of the new millennium, China became rapidly known as the fastest

The Hollow Skull: Vanitas and its Message
The Netherlands in the Seventeenth Century was the home of many famous artists,
most notably Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, but also many lesser known
artists such as Pieter Claesz.. Pieter Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near
Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there till his death in 1660.
He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes
make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a
Writing Quill is a prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the
artist would attempt to display the vanity of materialism.
As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull
is in the center of the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one
sees an empty glass on its side resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is
reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an actual reflection. Beneath
both the skull and glass is a book and a sheaf of papers in a portfolio. The book s
binding is brown and the pages are yellowing, whereas the papers in the moss green
portfolio are a contrasting white. The presence of paper fits with the other object in
the title, the writing quill, whose feather rests on the book and sheaf. The head of the
quill points to the right of the painting where it rests on an overturned ink

*Solidifying Beliefs* We feel this transit for about a week on either side (approx.
August 18 to September 1). Saturn is the place in our chart where we may feel
blocks, restrictions, or a sense of lack. It rules karma, time, and daddy issues.
During this week, we may be especially aware of our limitations. We may also see
how we can anchor into a structure or foundation that will carry us to the fulfillment
of our purpose. A sense of purpose emerges from facing and overcoming adversity.
A sense of realness crystallizes. A diamond is made of coal that has been stressed

obvious for Big Skinny to increase its bid for thin wallets keyword but maintain
the same bid for big skinny . In addition, the firm can also bid higher for other
profitable keywords, including thin wallet , thin leather wallet, world s thinnest

Chemistry Solubility

Comparing the Solubility of Chemicals in Water
Water is known as the universal solvent because so many different substances
dissolve in it and we rely on this for many of our daily needs.
Introduction: Water is known as the universal solvent as it is capable of dissolving a
variety of different substances and dissolves more substances than any other liquid.
However the ability to be soluble depends on a substances polarity and bonding. This
then contributes to the various ways that different types of chemicals interact in water.
Solubility is crucial to every living thing on earth as water can carry along valuable
chemicals, minerals, and nutrients necessary for survival. In fact Water covers 70%
of the Earths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However despite its name as the universal solvent there are many compounds that
won t dissolve or won t dissolve well in water. If the attraction is high between the
opposite charged ions in a compound, then the solubility will be low. For example,
most hydroxides exhibit low solubility in water.
Polar molecule: H2O
Polar molecule: H2O
Aim: To investigate and compare the solubility of household chemicals in water to
demonstrate the various ways that the different types of chemicals interact in water.
Hypothesis: Substances with stronger bonds such as ionic bonds will have a low
solubility whereas substances with weaker bonds like covalent bonds will be highly
soluble. Therefore sugar will have the highest solubility followed by citric acid and
then salt.
Materials: * Citric Acid * Salt * White Sugar * 600ml of water * 1 Thermometer * 1
Stirrer * 1 tablespoon * 3 transparent cups * 1 Measuring jug * Pen * Paper
Risk Assessment: A common laboratory risk is the handling of glass items. Items
such as thermometers and glass cups carry the risk of breakage, cuts and mercury
poisoning. Ways to minimize and handle this risk include: * Inspect glassware for
defects or cracks before use. * Do not handle broken glass with bare hands. Use
appropriate cut resistant gloves to handle broken glass. * Use forceps, tongs, scoops,
or other mechanical devices for removing
Crime and Delinquency Subculture
Crime and delinquency subculture reflects on culture patterns surrounding crime and
juvenile delinquency. It is created not only by individuals, but as one culture, the
American culture. Subculture is derivative of, but different from some larger
referential cultures. This term is used to share systems of norms, values, individual,
groups and the cultural system itself. Criminal or delinquent subcultures indicate
systems of norms, values, or interest that support criminal or delinquent behavior.

In contract to accounts of the origins of Western European youth cultures, Ko lin
Chin traces the development of Chinese youth delinquents in the United States to
ancient secret society traditions, and to the more recent Triad societies that formed in
the late seventeenth century in China ( 1996). The violence and crime among the
Chinese youth in the U.S did not increase dramatically until immigration laws
permitted more. While the origins of delinquent subcultures may reside in ancient
times, the formation can be explained in macro level. All macro level theories make
certain assumptions about the individual level of explanation. By documenting the
ongoing relationship and actions of an individual or group, one can analyze the
process of macro levels of explanation.
According to differential association theory, interactions with other and social
structural context are important because they shape the learning of violent
definitions, which in turn affects the like hood that youths engage in violent
delinquency (Hawkins 1998). Delinquents behave violently because they want to win
acceptance by older criminals.

prestigious titles in the political sphere such as: a member of the Lebanese

at the American University in Beirut and the Lebanese University (LI, 145). The
article published by Mahmasani in Liberal Islam is entitled Adaptation of Islamic
Jurisprudence to Modern Social Need. Mahmasani begins by explaining that the
concept of Islamic jurisprudence dealt with questions of religions, worship and legal
transactions thus explaining that the ulama (scholars) and jurists had to be
knowledge in all departments of knowledge (LI, 145). This knowledge comes from a
variety of sources such as the Qu ran and the Sunna as well as through customs,
geography, and the search for the inner ijtihad (endeavor or interpretation).
Mahmasani s claims that after Sunni jurists agreed to close the door to ijtihad,
because of the fall of Baghdad in the seventh century, Islamic thought met a dead end.
Mahmasani explains that the door of ijtihad should be thrown wide open for anyone
juristically qualified...what is right is to allow freedom of interpretation of Islamic
jurisprudence and to liberate thought (LI 146). More so, he later goes on to explain
that the Sunna is a contradiction because the prophet

Hamlet and Twelfth Night are two Shakespeare plays of complete opposites. Due to
one being written as a tragedy, and the other as a comedy, many comparisons can be
drawn between the two plays, on themes and motifs that develop throughout the
plays. One of the themes that is easily recognisable in the early stages of both plays,
is that of deceit and disguise. In Hamlet, we learn early on that Hamlet decides to act

In Twelfth Night , disguise is a key theme in order for the play to take shape.
Within the first three scenes, we have several examples of characters deliberately
deceiving others in order to achieve a selfish goal. An example of this is seen
through Viola s decision to disguise herself as a eunuch in order to find favour with
the duke.
The decision by Shakespeare to now portray Viola as a man, creates confusion

The Importance Of A Career In Computer Engineering
Ever since the seventh grade I was always interested in building a computer. All my
friends were playing videogames on their computers and, so I wanted to build one.
They were way too expensive, so I never got the chance. I enjoy fixing computers
and helping my family with their technical issues. Everything is run by electronics
these days, so I might as well get good at using them and seeing how they work.
In the career field of engineering, there is a broad field and offers several alternative
career paths. Those interested in working with engineers and developers to create the
code for software programs and systems should consider a career in computer
programming. After reviewing plans and operational diagrams from software
developers, programmers use specialized tools and programming languages to
produce the finished product. They also analyze and test existing products to identify
and repair errors ( Alternative Careers ).
Computer hardware engineer is another possible career route in this industry. As the
name implies, this career focuses on creating, improving, and evaluating the various
parts that make up the computers and computer systems such as routers, memory
boards, central processing units, video sound cards, network components, etc. More
than likely working in a laboratory building, testing ideas and the involvement in the
manufacturing or the installing aspect of this industry. However, due to industry
focus on advancing software, the BLS projected that

faith, God, and life. Alyosha also engages in the ministry of presence by just being

by him being there day in and day out the family is comforted knowing that they
are not alone. Alyosha knows that we someone feels alone, they become
weakened, and can easily lose faith and hope so he brings others. He brings the
children to lift the spirits in the house, to give Ilyusha people to talk to, to distract

Maintenance of genomic integrity is crucial for cell survival in resistance to
endogenous and exogenous environmental insults to the genetic material. Multiple
DNA repair pathways coordinate the response to such genotoxins and protect our
genome [1]. Endogenous insults may be generated as a byproduct of cellular
metabolism in the form of reactive oxygen species or during physiological processes
such as meiotic recombination, mating type switching in yeasts, V(D)J recombination
and DNA replication transcription collision [2 5]. Exogenous stresses include
hypoxia, radiation and dietary carcinogens [6, 7]. Depending on the nature of damage

NER is a highly conserved DNA repair pathway that is the primary pathway
responsible for the removal of bulky DNA lesions i.e., helix distorting lesions such
as UV induced photoproducts, environmental mutagens, and some
chemotherapeutic agents. NER has two distinct subtypes: global genome repair
(GG NER), which can occur anywhere in the genome and transcription coupled
repair (TC NER), which removes distorting lesions that obstruct transcription [20,
21]. Following lesion recognition, the damage containing oligonucleotide is
excised from DNA by a dual enzyme incision step mediated by ERCC1 XPF, which
makes the first incision and XPG which incises the 3 end of single/double strand
junction [22]. This results in the release of lesion containing oligonucleotide with
TFIIH bound to it [23]. The gap filling step in NER relies on the concerted action of
DNA ligase and its cofactors DNA polymerases Оґ and Оµ, the sliding clamp PCNA,
the clamp loader RFC and RPA [24]. MMR is a is a highly conserved post replication
repair pathway that corrects DNA mismatches generated during DNA replication that
escapes the proofreading function of DNA polymerases thereby preventing mutations
and tumorigenesis [25 27]. MutSО± recognizes the mismatches and MutLО± forms

Who Leaves A Sapphire Lying On The Ground Essay
Who leaves a sapphire just lying on the ground?
I bent over to pick up the twinkling gem. It was large, easily the size of a quarter, so
it must be expensive. I was no gemologist, but I did know that the larger the gem,
the more pricey it was. I rolled it around in my fingers, letting the light from the
street lamps catch in all of its facets.
Beautiful. I breathe. The dark blue of the sapphire almost seemed velvety, like the
night sky. Too bad there weren t any specs of silver in the gem. Then it would really
resemble the night sky.
I sigh, a deep ache forming in my chest. The memory of a country nightside still
burned fresh in my mind, as it wasn t long ago that I could marvel at the beauty of
the night sky where I could actually see it. Those days are gone now, at least for the
time being.
I ll return it to the police tomorrow. Pocketing the jewel, I finished my walk back
home.
The city where I now live is nice, if you like air pollution and noise keeping you up
all night, that is. Everyone is always saying that I ll get used to it everyone else
already has but I haven t. Not yet.
I stared up at the dark sky. It was suffocating, like a heavy blanket with no promise of
being lifted. Nothing like my old home where the full moon was so bright, I could
see almost as well as I can at sunset. There were always places to explore in the
woods. Bridges to cross and discovering new surprises from nature used to be my life.

America In The Early 20th Century
During the early 1900 s the United States was already familiar with sending their
troops overseas to claim new territory. America has never been afraid to show
authority and invade land, it s a tactic the United States government has perfected
over the past 120 years. When the U.S. sees other nations becoming empires they
want to join in on the action. Any government that takes overseas possession has
an obligation to the people but it doesn t always go as planned. When a country
gains power and becomes a world superpower no one can stop them from
conquering territory. History as we know it would all change on February 20, 1896
when Senator Henry Cabot Lodge called for the United Statesto intervene in a
rebellion happening in Cuba. This brought up a lot of controversy on what we
should do as a country. One side argued that it was necessary for the U.S. as a nation

Percy Harrison Fawcett Research Paper
Blank spots on a map leave even the most uninterested curious; calling them in ways
most would not understand. Unexplored lands and oceans inspire thousands to
venture into the unknown, no matter the level of experience. Those who feel the pull
cannot ignore it and would give up everything just to feel the thrill of the adventure.
Percy Harrison Fawcett, born on the 18th of August of 1867, was one of those who
had felt the pull and just could not resist. Fawcett took on the Amazon, specifically El
Dorado, the city of gold. Close to nothing was known about the Amazon before he
went in. Percy Fawcettwas one of the greatest explorers the world has ever seen. To
be a good explorer one must have confidence, passion, and courage. In the book,
Lost City of Z , author, David Grann, continuously presents examples of Fawcett
being a great explorer by possessing these traits. In 1925, Percy Fawcett sets out to
the Amazon to find El Dorado and though he does not return, he gets far enough in
such a way that we as the readers can truly understand what makes a good explorer.
For the duration of the novel, through Grann, Fawcett proves how confidence (such
as his own), is a necessary trait for a successful explorer to have. For example, Nina
Fawcett, Percy Fawcett s wife, told the Royal Geographical Society about Fawcett s
faith in himself and his own skill set. Nina states, Major Fawcett contemplated cutting
through 100 miles of forest... in a month (123). Especially without the
Mass Surveillance and the Panopticon Analysis Essay
In Michael Foucault s Discipline and Punish , the late eighteen century English
philosopher Jeremy Bentham s model of Panopticon was illustrated as a metaphor
for the contemporary technologies of mass surveillance. Originally derived from the
measures to control abnormal beings against the spreading of a plague, the
Panopticon is an architecture designed to induce power with a permanent sense of
visibility. With a tower in the center, surrounded by cells, the prisoners can be
monitored and watched at any given time from the central tower. The goal of this
architectural plan was to strip away any privacy and therefore create fear induced self
regulation amongst the prisoners, with an unverifiable gaze The prisoners can never...

Just a gaze. An inspecting gaze, a gaze which each individual under its weight will
end by interiorising to the point that he is his own overseer, each individual thus
exercising this surveillance over, and against, himself. A superb formula: power
exercised continuously and for what turns out to be a minimal cost. (Foucault)
Despite the dehumanizing effect of Panopticon as an disciplinary mechanism based
on constant observation and examination with every movement supervised and all
events recorded. The Panopticon system as one of the most effective and economic
models of exercising power and control over an constantly increasing population, soon
became a formula, wide spread throughout our society. Along with the growing
ethnology and capitalist economy, various methods of Panopticon through mass
surveillance soon earned it s place in numerous regimes, becoming one of the most
infinitely expandable Panopticon of the contemporary society. Schools, factories,
hospitals and prisons today resemble each other, they are fit into the format of a
panopticon structure, examining pupils, workers, patients and prisoners at any given
time. When we enter a building, make a phone call, purchase with a credit card, or
visit a website, we are being watched, if not recorded, analyzed. The increasing use of
surveillance by commercial and government entities caused the technology to become
omnipresent in our lives. With the name of
Four Chinese Inventions
Located in East Asia, China has been around for over 5,000 years and is known as
one of the four ancient civilizations. As China developed into a great nation, the
government began to form dynasties in which China is ruled by a specific emperor.
The first dynasty to have an emperor was the Qin Dynasty, established by Shi Huang
Di. This notorious name was self proclaimed by him and literally translates into the
First Emperor of China. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Shi Huang Di was overthrown
and China became conquered by another. Furthermore, these events spawned a new
dynasty called the Han Dynasty, which ultimately fell and created the opportunity for
another dynasty and so on. This incessant succession in governing Ancient China

Likewise, China produced inventions that contributed to not only their culture, but
the vast world of our past and present. Particularly, The Four Great Inventions have
made a tremendous impact on our society as humans. These are the inventions of:
Papermaking, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass, developed during the Song
and Yuan Dynasties. Starting with the art of papermaking, this process created a
writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of
the Eastern Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as
opposed to heavy, rough bones or expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern
Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which was later updated and
succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed,
Shang could print the frame onto paper. Therefore, paper and printing were used as
expected: creating a source of entertainment in books, information on news,
producing art, and more. Progressively, the compass was conceived shortly
afterwards. The initial compass had a magnetic rod among a bronze case with twenty
four directions etched into it and was used until the 8th Century. Its brother
instrument used water to suspend itself and minimize movement, thus allowing long
distance sea navigation. Finally, the introduction of gunpowder had revolutionized
China and the world. Gunpowder, which is made of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium
nitrate, was discovered to burn rapidly, releasing immense volumes of gases. At
first, this was used for firework displays, but was found to also be a powerful
weapon. With the advantage of gunpowder, China had become a callous adversary in

Keep in mind that themes are simply the look , and to some degree, feel of your
website. Your theme is like the outside of your house; what people see first. It can
have nice window dressing, pretty colors, fancy decorative brick and an overall
pleasant appeal. If people like what they see they will enter, or (click) around and
stay for a visit. This is what you want to keep your visitors in the house. And, it all
starts by having the right theme.
So start with an appealing theme and combine
Douglas Jardine As A Villain In Cricket
Cricket is a game that creates spell of magic and enchantment in five day cricket or
glitz produced by T20 league. The game has seen astounding players who set the
stage alight through terrific performances. The one aspect of the game which has
been quite forgotten at times when that quality and level of play is raised when
two opposition teams collide in form of players with contrasting style and
temperament. The role of antagonist is seldom neglected as such characters that
left an indelible mark on the field.Altough various words such as villain or the bad
guy like terms are used but I think the term, heel as coined in world wrestling
federation seemed to the most befitting word to some of these players that have
gone down in the history books due to infamous events and scenes. The earliest
character in cricket as a heel was Douglas Jardine who led an England to gain the
urn and had hatched a devious plan to unsettle great Don Bradman. The series
provided quite furor as Jardine instigated fast bowler Harold Larwood who
managed to unsettle the great batsmen and created a tense atmosphere. Douglas
Jardine provided the display of a villain who was seeking to win at all costs. The
famous heel in 1970s were Ian Botham. The burly all rounder who gained immense
success and prominence after his debut seem to be involved in a lot of... Show more

The Rawalpindi Express was always in the news for all the reasons such as on
field altercations with other players and tense relations with Pakistan Cricket
Board. He had a brawl with emerging fast bowler Muhammad Asif on the eve of
inaugural T20 Cricket World Cup. Shoaib Akthar was epitome of a true heel as he
always was against the Authority and always liked to do it in his own way. The
daredevil fast bowler was never short of action and needed just a spur to bring out
the devil in him on the
Rosa Parks Analysis
Rosa Parks: My Story is the auto biography of the infamous Rosa Parks. This book
was written by none other than Rosa Parks herself. Was one Authors view point
more believable than the other? The Call of the Wild is a fictional story and is not
based on a true event while Rosa Parks auto biography is a true story about her life, I
would choose Rosa Parkslife story simply because the point of view she has taken and
the emotion expressed throughout the story complies with the specific events that
happened to her throughout her life.
This story is based mostly on the life of Rosa Parks and her growing up in a
segregation filled state. During the beginning of the book she talks about her
family, what she used to do for a living and the conflicts between her parents. She
tells us how she used to work on a plantation picking cotton for the earlier part of
her life. Also she tells us how adjusting to living life without slavery was a bit
harder than they had expected so soon after the war; their family underwent many
changes and for the first time was able to purchase land. Rosa Parks tells us about
her life from her earliest memories to the day she committed the act that helped end
segregation.
For the book that I read for the first semester The Call of the Wild was written in
the third person point of view. The Auto biography Rosa Parks: My Story was
written in the first person point of view. Personally I believe that for Rosa Parks
autobiography there would be so much less detail if it was changed to a third
person point of view. And while you re reading you would feel that the knowledge
of the writer is somewhat limited and can t give a 100 pure account. For the first
book that I read I believe that changing the perspective of the book from a third
person to a first person point of view would add much more emotion into the book.
This would make it feel as if you are in the characters position feeling what he or she
is feeling, almost like a movie. Depending on the genre of the story, I would rather a
first person point of view for fiction books. For an Auto biography I would also prefer
a first person point of view. I realized that writing in a first person point of view
depends on the story and the
Cabbage Vendor By Natasha Trethewey Summary
I.Analysis of Cabbage Vendor by Natasha Trethewey from Domestic Work
In Cabbage Vendor written by Natasha Trethewey, a woman talks about her
gardening and cooking of cabbage. She seems to be selling some of her cabbage to
a man and his first request is that he wants everything to be natural. He watches her
through a peep hole as she gets the cabbage together for the man. The cabbage made
me think as if she is getting herself together for the man. This sounds like a type of
symbolism as if he was admiring her, but he wants her to be a natural woman. In
America, most men want the woman that they are with to be natural in every way
and still be beautiful. Although the woman might be beautiful natural, some woman
feel beautiful once their beauty is enhanced by something. Beauty can be enhanced
by makeup, hair relaxers, and even plastic surgery. Therefore, for a man to want
you to be natural, you cannot have any make up, hair relaxers, and definitely not
any plastic surgery. In Cabbage Vendor written by Natasha Trethewey, a man uses
symbolism to express his wants of a natural woman and a woman just wants to add a
little spice in her life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first word in the poem is natural and the woman s response is What he want
from me? This use of these words makes is like the actual mindset of a woman.
What does the man want from her in the long run? How can she benefit the man?
These are both things men normally think about when choosing a lady they admire.
In the beginning of the poem, the man seemed to be just a costumer, but he began
watching her. This could have been what some pesky costumers do, but I saw it as
more than that. He saw how she carried herself and began to see her as more. Instead
of watching how she handled the food, he watched
What Are The Core Values In Beowulf
When first reading Beowulf, or even before that, many people often cringe at the
idea of having to analyze, process, and understand Old English stories from the Anglo
Saxon period. Along with the frustrations of comprehending just a sentence,
sometimes the deeper meanings and overall image of the story can get lost. In the
case of Beowulf, this story is no exception. However, not only is this Anglo Saxon
story a heroic tale of a brave warrior who fights evil, but in reading the tales of
Beowulf, it gives us a way to compare our own lifestyle and core values, to those of
the warriors and people of that area.
In our modern world, we associate warriors to be a variety of people who face
challenges that far exceed those of the average human. Who have to face their fears
and, to some extent, the possibility of losing their lives. To us humans, not only are
these the (courageous) criterias of being a warrior, but we also expect them to be
humble, selfless, and not to be arrogant or boastful about their achievements. Yet
unlike our society today, however, cultural traditions and expectations from society
back in the Anglo Saxon period were quite different, if not the opposite, in the ways
warriors acted and held themselves in society.
After first being introduced to Beowulf and his men, many readers would probably
agree with the fact of being surprised by their appearance and first impressions when
they came to Denmark. For starters, the idea of Beowulf and his fellow warriors
Thevenin s Theorem Essay
The experiment that follows is carried out to determine the Thevenin s theorem
experimentally. Thevenin s theorem is an equivalence principle in circuit theory. This
theorem is widely used for circuit analysis simplification and to study circuit s initial
condition and steady state response. In the experiment, the load resistance was
removed. The Vth and Rth were found and the resultant current measured. After the
experiment was carried out, it was verified that using the Thevenin s theorem
procedure, the current in a particular load in this case has the same current flowing
through it if it is solved using any other equivalence principle and maximum power
will be transferred through load when Rth is Equivalent to RL.
Introduction
The present lab report is designed to describe the Thevenin Equivalents and Max
Power Transfer. Moreover, the simplification and verification of the circuit network
is necessary to identify to Thevenin equivalent. In addition, the maximum level of
power transfer was also identified. Thevenin theorem is applied on the DC resistive
circuits. The theorem holds that the linear electronic network with the help of the
voltage as well as the current sources is important and the level of resistance can be
replaced with the equivalent voltage source. To fulfill such objectives, the lab
experiment was designed [1].
In circuit analysis, Thevenin s theorem for linear electrical networks states that any
combination of voltage sources, current sources, and
Socialization Techniques Of African American Male

Abstract
Socialization techniques of African Americans, in particular black males in the
criminal justice system are vastly dissimilar in comparison to their white counterparts.
The dominant socialization indifference is theoretically associated with Marxist
Criminology schools of thought, in particular conflict theory. Qualitative, empirical,
and historical data supports Marxist criminology based on capitalism, conflict, and
the disparity treatment of the Afro American male within the criminal justicesystem:
police, courts, and corrections. This research will address how capitalism creates a
caste system that perpetuates conflict. Furthermore, this research will briefly explore
the correlation of American capitalism, slavery, Jim Crow, and the new Negro coined
criminal; and the Marx school of thought as it pertains to African Americanmales
interaction within the American criminal justice system and the hidden agenda of its
capitalistic government.
Keywords: crime, ethnic racial socialization, policing techniques, race, racial
discrimination
Introduction
The socialization techniques of African American males in the American criminal
justice system are vastly disproportionate in comparison to their white counter parts.
Economics and power play a vital role in this epidemic. This is best associated with
Karl Marx s philosophy of Marxist Criminology. (Marx) Early Marxist criminologist,
William Bonger(1905), associated misuse and separation of capitalism as the
Personality Typing
Personality typing has been shown to have a variety of potential applications within
the professional world, including the field of dietetics. The preferences a person has
within their personality type can largely influence their decision making process.
Often, the most dominant preferences will have the most input, which may hinder
individuals from making the best decision for the problem at hand and can lead to
unhealthful habits. This is how personality types may be beneficial when providing
nutritional counseling. By recognizing that each person may approach a situation
differently based on their personality type, dietitians can develop interventions that
help clients achieve the most success. Personality types may also play a role in

Furthermore, it does not appear that many INTJ types are attracted to this field.
Despite this, there are some skills associated with my personality type that would
benefit me in the field of food and nutrition care. For instance, NT types tend to use
abilities in theoretical and technical developing, including research, forecasts and
analysis, and management. This would likely indicate that I would do well in
areas of foodservice where abilities in management and forecasting are needed for
success. In this regard, I would likely have strong leadership skills that are
business oriented. However, it is possible that my communication skills might not
be as proficient as NF and SF types, which are appear to be more people oriented.
While I might be able to communicate numbers well, it would probably benefit me
to work on communicating with people to enhance my skills in counseling and
teaching. As such, I may find these situations involving education somewhat
challenging. My preference for introversion is likely to have an influence on this as
well as educational dietitians tend to be extraverted. In other areas of dietetics, the
research seems to indicate that I might do well as a clinical dietitian as most were
noted to be introverted and judging. I would also probably do fairly well in
administrative dietetics due to my

Facts: A Case of Cold Pizza Lee Chambers, the Defendant was driving 10 km over
the speed limit while making pizza deliveries using the company van. To avoid
hitting a dog, he had incidentally skidded sideways on a patch of ice and crashed
into another vehicle. Alice White, the plaintiff who was not wearing a seatbelt at
the time had suffered numerous injuries. The Plaintiff had sued Lee Chambers and
Vinnie s Pizza Ltd. for general and special damages along with cost of car repairs,
and loss of income. Issue: 1) Is the defendant liable? 2) Does the defendant owe the
plaintiff a duty of care? 3) Did the defendant breach the duty of care? 4) Is the
defendant liable for personal injuries, damages, and loss of income?... Show more

The next two elements are Causation and damages. These two elements tend to
overlap and must be present for negligence to be valid. (Yates, Bereznicki Korol
Clarke, 2011,p.153). To thoroughly explain, the plaintiff must provide legal
evidence, on the balance of probability, that they have suffered injury or loss due to
the defendant s careless behaviour or materially contribution. However, if the
defendant is part of the cause of an injury, the defendant may be liable even though
his act alone was insufficient to cause the injury. ( Yates, Bereznicki Korol Clarke,
2011,p.154). The courts may also use the Remoteness test to determine if the type
of injury was foreseeable. ( Yates, Bereznicki Korol Clarke, 2011,p.154). This will
address any issues that may have contributed to the extent of injury or loss. This is
often known as Contributory negligence if the plaintiff in any way contributed to his
or her own injury. According to Chapter 5 lecture notes, if plaintiff is found to be
careless, the judge will distribute the fault between the parties. As a result, damages
will be adjusted accordingly. Equally important, vicarious liability is another notion
that must be kept in mind as well. This liability exhibits that an employer is 100%
liable for an employee s tortuous act during the course of employment. ( Yates,
Bereznicki Korol Clarke, 2011,p.349). Argument: In this case, Lee Chambers, the

Egypt under Mubarak
Egypt plays an extremely significant role as one of the major powers in the Middle
East. Egyptian force in the Arab world stems from the strength of its cultural life
which makes it extremely difficult to be ignored. The book, Egypt under Mubarak
features essays from seven different authors, which examine the causes and
consequences of the many crises Egypthas faced. Mubarak comes into power taking
upon himself the previous Egyptian political, sociological, and economic problems
left by Sadat and Nasser. The present administration attempts to fix these problems by
employing Egypt s significant resources in the forming of a distinct and effective
international role.
Vice President Hosni Mubarak succeeded Sadat as president. After Sadat ... Show

The book touches on topics with a broad range from politics to economy to
geography. The book is solely based on research of the Egyptian government from
the time when Mubarak took power, 1981, up until the writing of the book which was
in 1989.
Throughout the book, 16 books are cited. Even though the book is based on the
government under Mubarak, the writers refer to events that were held before
Mubarak was put into power which helps the reader understand the important history
behind the present. After each chapter, there are bibliographies as well as endnotes in
some chapters listing the sources used in the passage. Except for the Chapter on the
National Debt where his previous statements based on The Central Bank of Egypt,
Cairo contradicts his final assessment of the sum.
The writers of each section always tend to agree with the sources that they have
cited. With this known, I was able to see that the writers in each chapter took into
account the other writings of scholars that wrote on similar topics. Because of the
writers many sources, they are able to give an unbiased look into the history of the
Egyptian Government. They examine both the positive and negative aspects of
Mubarak as President specifically laws he passes and actions he takes towards not
only Egyptians, but also the Arab Israeli relationship, as well as foreign relations with
Arab countries and the western world. Charles Tripp goes into detail about the
Shakespeare s Authorship
The argument of Shakespeare s authorship will always be argued and never settled.
Shakespeare went to school, but some believed that he did not stay in school long.
His education is one of the main topics for both sides of this argument. Shakespeare
s schooling may have helped some but not enough to create a new kind of literature
and produce some of the most famous pieces of literature in history to this day.
Although some believe Shakespeare went to school, his work is too complex and he
did not travel far enough to write all these great plays. Some believe that
Shakespeare adapted from older works and what he lacked in experience he could
have made up for in imagination (Farouky). Shakespeare would not have needed
much education
Essay about Jealousy in Shakespeare s Othello
Jealousy in Shakespeare s Othello
Othello features jealousy as the dominant motive for action and therefore just as
reflected in real life we bare witness to jealousy influencing the characters of Iago,
Brabantio, Roderigo, and Othello. In this essay I shall be attempting to examine this
theme in depth drawing comparison between jealousy and the consequential action.
The dominance of jealousy as the chief causative force of action in the drama is very
obvious to most critics. In William Shakespeare: The Tragedies, Paul A. Jorgensen
exposes the main motivation in the story:
In roundest terms, Othello is a story of raging sexual jealousy prompted apparently
by the least credible of motives. Othello has eloped with ... Show more content on

Act 1 Scene 1 opens with an expression of jealousy: Roderigo is upbraiding Iago
because of the elopement of the object of his affections ?Desdemona with the Moor:
?Thou told?st me thou didst hold him in thy hate.?
Iago responds with an expression of jealousy, saying that he does indeed hate the
general because he
?Nonsuits my mediators; for, ?Certes,? says he,
?I have already chose my officer.??
With both Roderigo and the ancient spurred on by jealousy, they storm the home of
the senator, Brabantio, and father of Desdemona in a vain effort to have him recover
the missing girl. Brabantio is very jealous of the man who has stolen his daughter
because she has been his only companion and help in the home:
?And what?s to come of my despised time
Is naught but bitterness.?
At the head of his mob, the senator accuses the general of having ?enchanted her?
with his sorcery, and accompanies him to the duke and council. After Othello admits
?That I have ta?en away this old man?s daughter,?
Desdemona confesses that ?here?s my husband,? and these testimonies seem to
satisfy the Duke and council. Consider that we have experienced three serious acts
of jealousy in the first three scenes of the play, as it has misguided Roderigo, Iago
and Brabantio. The last dies as a result of his jealous grief; Gratiano later says to
Othello:
?Thy match was mortal to him, and pure grief / Shore his old thread in twain.?
Illinois Court Structure
They say justice is blind. Laws are made only to protect the interest of the wealthy.
Anyone can become a judge, one does not necessarily have to attend school to do
so. These are just a few myths about our judicial system, some of which that hold
some truth, and others that are inaccurate. In this paper, I will provide history about
the type of court structure in Illinois, the process in which judges and lawyers are
selected within the state, and how judges and lawyers are disciplined. To begin,
Illinois was admitted to statehood in 1818. In its original Constitution, the following
was outlined: Every person ought to find a certain remedy in the laws for all injuries
and wrongs which he may receive in his person, property, or reputation; he ought to
obtain by law right and justice.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to become a lawyer in Illinois, as I aspire to be, one must first attend an
undergraduate institute to obtain a degree. Next, for formal legal study, one must
enter law school to obtain a secondary degree called the Juris Doctor. However,
before completing this, one must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) as
an entry exam to law school. The LSAT is offered four times throughout the year,
and consists of three sections which are: logical reasoning, analytical reasoning,
reading comprehension, and a writing sample. Hence, this test predicates how one
will perform in law school and often influences the school in which students are
accepted. However, upon graduation, one must pass the state bar exam. Even for
this examination, there are a few requirements under Rule 704 in the Supreme
Court Rules: the person must be of twenty one years of age, be of good moral
character to practice law, has satisfactorily completed exams on academic
qualifications an responsibility as prescribed by the Board of admissions, and attend
a school on the approved list of the American Bar

Abstract
There are many benefits for jail diversionary programs in the state of Kentucky.
Nonviolent offenders, family members, judicial systems, and the jails can benefit
from keeping these people out of jail and in society.
I was surprised to find, during my research very few negatives to these programs
around the country.

Analyzing Adam Walsh s Crime
This case has a lot the information that we as students had learned in the class. First,
learning from chapter one in the book the types of violent crimes and learning that
Adam Walsh s crime is in the category of murdered children. According to the
schoolbook, in 1996 almost 2000 children were murdered. Secondly learning the
chapter of child abduction and exploitation where almost 58,200 children were
victims of child abduction by a non family member, according to the NISMART 2
(Sedlak, Finklehor, Hammer, Schultz, 2002, p. 5). Watching the filmhas given me the
opportunity to be able to use the knowledge learned from the class and the book
based on how each victim in Adam Walsh s movie has a role in being a victim of

Racism And Prejudice By Claudia Rankine
Citizen (2014), by Claudia Rankine, is a book that explores racism and prejudice
that is happening in the United States. Rankine incorporates personal encounters,
reactions, reflections, writing and art pieces, historical events, and the media to
prove the point that racism is still very prominent to this day. For a majority of the
book, Rankine writes short pieces about her personal encounters that deals with
some form of racism, whether it happened to her or if she witnessed racism
happening to other people. Within those short pieces, Rankine refers to herself as
you, because she wants her readers to see what racism looks like in her shoes, even
if the readers have not personally been affected by racism. Throughout the book,
Rankine includes several symbols that are important to her that shows the audience
that those symbols may be small, but they have a huge impact on how people
perceive them. Some of the symbols that Claudia Rankine uses throughout Citizen is
the color line, complexion of skin tone, and angry. What are the significance of each?
When racism was more common in the United States, there was blunt segregation
happening before people s eyes. White people lived in areas with more opportunities,
and better living arrangements, whereas black people were forced to live in lesser
more ghetto parts of town. Although, the color line is not as prominently visible,
there are still insistences that have occurred to this today that proves the color line is
not

  • 1. Comparison And Contrast Essays Composing an essay on the subject of "Comparison and Contrast Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that require a thoughtful approach and a keen understanding of the intricacies involved. The difficulty lies not only in grasping the core concepts of the topic but also in effectively conveying the nuances of comparing and contrasting two or more subjects. In addition to content challenges, there is a considerable emphasis on the structural elements of the essay. Organizing information in a logical manner, whether through a block or point-by-point method, requires careful consideration. • 3. OFF, by Mortis Ghost What truly makes a villain to us? Is it the need to cause mayhem, a long, resounding evil laugh? Or just someone whose values run in opposition to ours? Whatever the case may be, we perceive these characters carefully, recognizing them almost instantly as forces to be reckoned with That is, most of the time. In the next few paragraphs I aim to explore why what the most frightening of villains terrify us the most. Mortis Ghost s OFF , a french RPG from 2007, will be our setting for this phenomenal antagonist. This indie game features a delightful soundtrack, strategic turn based combat, and an increasingly dark storyline. The adventure begins with you, the player, being assigned to control a stoic hero known as The Batter . If he expressed emotions, he would be probably be indifferent to your being his puppeteer. Regardless, you and he proceed through a land called Zone0, entrusted by some unknown force with the task of purifying the land. You encounter a stray, eloquent and articulate cat calling itself The Judge . It assists you in getting oriented in the world, and guides you safety through the deserted landscape and to the cusp of the first inhabited zone, Zone 1. It departs, promising to see you again. As you advance through Zones 1, 2, and 3, The Batter continues to insist he is the savior of the world, sent to purify the evils within. The timid and neurotic inhabitants known as Elsen more or less welcome his presence, especially when tormented by spectres

Carnegie shares simple key techniques to create instant rapport and influence others. This could have been used as the human intelligence collector s nineteenth century field manual. Three central techniques for dealing with people: Don t criticize, condemn or complain, give honest and sincere appreciation, and arouse in the other person an eager want. (p.16). Criticism is dangerous and arouses resentment. In the contrary, we should understand the others. Carnegie explains that, Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive. • 5. DORIS LESSING S TO ROOM 19 SYMBOLS TO Room 19: SYMBOLS Women in patriarchal societies are brought up to have certain values, like to have a desire to be good mothers and good wives. However, as much as they try to do these things, they find that their passions and instincts are put down and this leads to misery and insanity. Women have voiced their concerns about the problems of being a womanin a man s society for years. Feminist literature existed before feminismas a movement did. Finally, in the 20th century, this led to the second and third waves of feminism criticizing the limitations of patriarchal and sexist society for women. Doris Lessing in her story To Room Nineteen uses many symbols to explain how women in patriarchal society feel oppressed and unfulfilled. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Susan s madness can be explained as the result of the clash between her impulsive, complex personality and the orderliness of the Victorian Angel, it can also be seen as resulting from the conflict between her private wishes and the public expectations that were placed on her, and on women in general. (Sandoiu) The common social problems of women are why neither one of them, Susan or Matthew, can look at any part of their marriage and say, For the sake of this is all the rest (253). Matthew does everything in his power to make Susan happy, asking her how her day was ( not as interesting, but that was not her fault ), and trying to support her because both knew of the hidden resentment and deprivations of the woman who lived her own life... and is now dependent on a husband (254). Matthew does cheat on her, but Susan and Matthew end up agreeing that this is natural (255). All of this, however, makes Susan feel that she was being poison[ed] by resentment and that she was a prisoner (263). As the narrator explains, She must tell Matthew but what? She was filled with emotions that were utterly ridiculous, that she despised... (264). Like many women, Susan was trying her best to be happy and grateful in a situation that she emotionally hated. The symbols of poison and prison, both slow and dreadful, are used to emphasize how Susan can be suffering even as she seems good on the outside. Her entire
  • 6. Literary Theories on Marxism The three analytic paragraphs on the song Zombie, the essay entitled The Closing of the (North) American Mind, and the documentary film Born Into Brothels showcase the literary theories on Marxism, Post colonial criticism, and feminism. The paragraphs show how people struggle in their own societies in different aspects, politically and socially. Because all three pieces show struggle in all texts, the unifying theme is how people react and overcome the struggles that they face. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another post colonial issue seen in the text was the issue of power dynamics. Being a colony of a powerful empire, the colonized are subjects of the colonizers. Because of rising tensions between the colonized and the colonizers, both are struggling to gain power and influence over the people. The IRA, being the colonized, prevents the colonizers from gaining any more power in their land. The colonizers, on the other hand, lose its influence and power over the colonized as the people became more aware and active in the independence movement. The independence movement in Ireland started in the 1920s, a period when the British Empire was starting to fall apart. The conflict between the two warring factions had resulted into a bloodbath since the start of their resistance to the colonizers. Because of the hatred against the colonizers, the oppressed colonized people fought back in order to remove them physically and mentally out of their land. The power struggle between the two belligerent nations had disrupted peace in the country, which resulted to many innocent deaths. This is evident in the text when the resistance fighters and the colonizers are fighting with their tanks and their bombs, and their bombs and their guns (O Riordan). War for power and influence had made Ireland into a dangerous society where its people use force as a means of expressing their sentiments against colonial rule. Issues in

  • 10. His Everlasting Moment of Intimacy Essay In the widely acclaimed novel Catching Fire , the fictional character Peeta Mellark is quoted as saying, I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in it forever. (Collins). Coincidentally, that is what the unnamed lover in Robert Browning s dramatic monologue Porphyria s Lover aspires to achieve when he murders his beloved Porphyria, in hopes of preserving their intimate moment for eternity. At the start of the poem, Browning seemingly shows his audience a loving, romantic scene of Porphyria affectionately tending her inert beau. As the dramatic monologueprogresses, it is learned that the originally envisioned romantic love story has transformed into a disturbing tale of a cruel lover s massacre of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this when he refers to Porphyria in a peculiarly different way after she has died: The smiling rosy little head, / So glad it has its utmost will, / And I, its love, am gained instead! (52 53, 55). The persona, through synecdoche, addresses his dead lover as only a head and continues to objectify her by calling her it . The speaker s objectification of his beloved shows how he only views Porphyria as an object that he owns a mere possession. He also stresses about how Porphyria has gained him, when in actuality what he really means is that now he finally owns her forever. This clearly illustrates his outrageous and crazy way of thinking as he fulfills his never ending moment with Porphyria by murdering her, and diminishes her later into a simple possession that he could do whatever he wishes to do with. Therefore, Browning makes use of adept word choices in order to display the persona s extreme possessiveness and irrationality. In addition, Browning blatantly uses imagery to convey the persona s deliriousness, and obsessiveness towards his lover. In the poem, Browning noticeably visualizes the events that have just occurred in the monologue, while at the same time he effectively illustrates the underlying meaning behind its imagery to reveal the persona s nature. It is visualized in the piece, Blushed bright beneath my burning kiss; (48). If
  • 11. Isabel I Of Spain Research Paper Undoubtedly the discovery of America in the hands of the Spanish navigator Christopher Columbus was the most outstanding fact of the fifteenth century. A new source of trade, wealth and the discovery of a new culture were the most important consequences for the development of Spain. Isabella I of Castile, also called Isabel the Catholic, by her strong religious faith, was a prerequisite for this discovery because she placed her trust and financed the trip, with the goal of opening a new route for commercial exchanges. When she turned eighteen, in 1469, they got married, officially sealing the commitment. This situation aroused the ire of Henry IV, who decided to disinherit his sister, after being recognized as the heir of the Kingdom, in the pact Bulls of Guisando in 1468 by Enrique IV, and rehabilitated in succession to his daughter Juana. Once King Henry IV died in 1474, an arduous succession dispute arose. The nobility was divided into two sections, one faction recognized Isabel and the other faction proposed Juana. This discordance marked the beginning of a terrible civil war. Juana was sidelined, despite having the Portuguese support for being espoused by Alfonso V of Portugal, and her aunt took over as Queen Isabel in 1474. In 1479, her husband Ferdinand II of Aragon inherited the throne with Castile and Aragon, which merged the two crowns. The proposal of the two monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, was shared to strengthen the real power within their kingdoms, stimulate the economy of Spain. • 12. Vampire Squid Research Paper The deep sea cephalopod called the vampire squid is a very unique organism. In 1903 it was found and classified as a octopus. The scientist thought this because it shares traits with the squid and with the octopus. Another common name for the vampire squid is the squid from hell. the name comes from the colors of the squid. The squid colors can vary from velvet jet black to a pale reddish color. Their color depends on where they are located meaning how much light they reach. • 13. Heroism In Odysseus An ancient Greek epic sung by Homer, The Odyssey explains Odysseus journey home after the Trojan War. Throughout his journey, the reader notices many aspects of heroism, power, and leadership. According to Google, a hero portrays an admired person, idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. One does not need to inherit wealth or power to display heroism. Instead, a person must obtain kindness and care, support, and think about each other. Illuminating selflessness and humbleness are additional qualities many heroes depict. Though he might lose his life while helping Odysseus defeat the suitors, one must recognize that Eumaios has never been unfaithful to Odysseus and the court of Ithaka. After many years, he still supports Odysseus and decides to fight alongside him and bring goodness to the island (Ithaka). Showing courage with his support, Eumaios and the other men defeat the suitors in a heroic matter. Therefore, Eumaios illuminates the idea that a human being does have the potential to portray heroism. AntГnoos shows the idea that whether good or evil, every human has a chance to portray themselves as a hero. Throughout the epic, there are some examples in which the evil AntГnoos supports his fellow suitors. When Telemakhus begins to blame the suitors for snatching the court of Ithaka, causing damage to their home, and defying the value of Xenia, AntГnoos argues, You want to shame us, and humiliate us, but... it is your own dear, incomparably cunning mother. For three years now... she has been breaking the hearts... (Book II). Using the art of persuasion, AntГnoos describes the pain all the suitors fell due to the fact that Penelope has not chosen a suitor. Though a hero fights for a beneficial cause, AntГnoos support towards the other suitors displays his heroic side in which others can believe and trust him for. • 15. An Economy Or Economic System An economy or economic system consists of the production, distribution or trade, and consumption of limited goods and services by different agents in a given geographical location. The economic agents can be individuals, businesses, organizations, or governments. Transactions occur when two parties agree to the value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain currency. In the past, economic activity was theorized to be bounded by natural resources, labor, and capital. This view ignores the value of technology, and innovation, especially that which produces intellectual property. A given economy is the result of a set of processes that involves its culture, values, education, technological evolution, history, social organization, political structure and legal systems, as well as its geography, natural resource endowment, and ecology, as main factors. These factors give context, content, and set the conditions and parameters in which an economy functions. The largest national economies by continent are: the United States in the Americas, Germany in Europe, Nigeria in Africa, China in Asia and Australia in Oceania. A market based economy is where goods and services are produced without obstruction or interference, and exchanged according to demand and supply between participants by barter or a medium of exchange with a credit or debit value accepted within the network, such as a unit of currency and at some free market or market clearing

The Sixties Between The Microgrooves Essay Kensi Laube Professor Sattler American History II 17 March 2017 Research Paper Since the Constitution of the United States was written, Americans have practiced their right to freedom of speech as a way to express their point of view on issues facing the country. Over time, voicing one s opinion went from outspoken newspaper articles to large rallies, and during the Vietnam War, music was a prevalent tool in aiding the protests. Allowing political messages to be shared nationally, the music had touched the lives of the younger generation. Author Jerome L. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, wars involving the United States were typically well supported by the people, but the abhorrence towards the military s actions in Vietnam lead musical artists to stand in opposition to the war, encouraging the anti war movement. As the war persisted, not everyone s voice was being heard. To quickly spread the message to a wider demographic, American musical artists incorporated political beliefs into their music. For example, Jimi Hendrix wrote songs such as Machine Gun to show his disdain towards the war, but the biggest statement he made was his performance at Woodstock. Creating his own interpretation of The Star Spangled Banner , Hendrix would always be remembered as taking a stand against the political leaders in charge of the United State s involvement in Vietnam. The effect Hendrix created is captured by author Desmond Manderson as he explains the performance had interrogated the memory and ideals of the United States ... explicitly contrasting old with new, patriotism with violence, and victimhood with aggression (315). Also, the rock group The Doors contributed to the movement by writing the song Unknown Soldier , which depicts the real tragedy of a soldier s fate. One of the most

Successes in health sciences helped in prolonging human life and to survive deadly diseases. Science and technology are also the catalyst for multiple revolutions in human history. An example is the industrial revolution. However, every success always comes with a price. During the industrial revolution, cities became flooded with people causing discomfort, the pollution became rampant, and social divide widened. Now that the information age is in full blast with breakthroughs in science and technology happening almost every day, humanity is on the verge of another scientific revolution. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advocates for the banning of the practice is saying that humanity is playing God, and society fears that it is another form of eugenics. Their concern is not without basis. History shows that society has tried to manipulate the gene pool to produce better offspring, however, research in genetic engineering should continue and society should support it because it could save millions of lives. According to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, it is estimated that over 1000 to 4000 American children are born with mitochondrial diseases each year (Chappell). Mitochondrial diseases range from Creatine Deficiency Syndrome, Leigh s Disease, and Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency (United). Children with such diseases are condemned to a life long suffering even before they were born. However, science found a way to mitigate the problem in the form of mitochondrial donation. It works by extracting mitochondrial DNA from a healthy female and transplanting it to an infected DNA of another female. The procedure comes with a risk, some of them are still unknown due to the infancy of the experiment nevertheless, giving an infant a fighting chance in life than being doomed before he or she reach his or her first birthday is a big benefit of the experiment. Genetic engineering also helps mankind in its struggle for food sustainability. Multiple country in Asia has rice as their staple food, and due to poverty, they can only afford rice and other supplemental food. The result are children growing up malnourished. As a response the International Rice Research Institute developed a rice, with the help of genetic engineering that is infused with vitamin A. They dubbed it Golden Rice . As Gary Toenniessen, a member of the Rockefeller Foundation who is in support of the research says, It s a great product. And it s beautiful! It looks just like saffron rice (qtd. in
  • 20. Why Did The Us Invade Afghanistan Why did the US invade Afghanistan in 2001? Theoretically, it holds that the United States (US) invaded Afghanistan as a self defense strategy following the 9/11 attacks. Practically, however, as US foreign policy is about conquest, self protection and resource extraction, it seeks strategic dominance of geographical space to sustain its global relevance. The rationality of the US suggests the need to continuously accumulate capital, resources and military proficiency to ensure autonomy. Therefore, a pragmatic reading into the motivation behind the invasion of Afghanistan negates the self defense theory. Rather, the shifting coordinates of power within central and southern Asia crafted the perfect criteria for US intervention. This work explores the motivations and systemic cover ups designed by the Bush administration in ordering military troops into Afghanistan in 2001. It will hold that this invasion was not just a War on Terror, but rather a tactic to ensure US prevalence within the region, and henceforth, the rest of the world. Thus, why did the US invade Afghanistan? At the start of the new millennium, China became rapidly known as the fastest growing economy sparking the greatest shift of relative power in history. Coincidence, or not, Afghanistan s narrow border with China made it a perfect strategic target to presume military presence within the Asian region. Arguably, the invasion of Afghanistan lays largely on a tactical plan designed by the US to resist

The Hollow Skull: Vanitas and its Message The Netherlands in the Seventeenth Century was the home of many famous artists, most notably Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, but also many lesser known artists such as Pieter Claesz.. Pieter Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there till his death in 1660. He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill is a prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the artist would attempt to display the vanity of materialism. As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull is in the center of the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one sees an empty glass on its side resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an actual reflection. Beneath both the skull and glass is a book and a sheaf of papers in a portfolio. The book s binding is brown and the pages are yellowing, whereas the papers in the moss green portfolio are a contrasting white. The presence of paper fits with the other object in the title, the writing quill, whose feather rests on the book and sheaf. The head of the quill points to the right of the painting where it rests on an overturned ink

NER is a highly conserved DNA repair pathway that is the primary pathway responsible for the removal of bulky DNA lesions i.e., helix distorting lesions such as UV induced photoproducts, environmental mutagens, and some chemotherapeutic agents. NER has two distinct subtypes: global genome repair (GG NER), which can occur anywhere in the genome and transcription coupled repair (TC NER), which removes distorting lesions that obstruct transcription [20, 21]. Following lesion recognition, the damage containing oligonucleotide is excised from DNA by a dual enzyme incision step mediated by ERCC1 XPF, which makes the first incision and XPG which incises the 3 end of single/double strand junction [22]. This results in the release of lesion containing oligonucleotide with TFIIH bound to it [23]. The gap filling step in NER relies on the concerted action of DNA ligase and its cofactors DNA polymerases Оґ and Оµ, the sliding clamp PCNA, the clamp loader RFC and RPA [24]. Too bad there weren t any specs of silver in the gem. Then it would really resemble the night sky. I sigh, a deep ache forming in my chest. The memory of a country nightside still burned fresh in my mind, as it wasn t long ago that I could marvel at the beauty of the night sky where I could actually see it. Those days are gone now, at least for the time being. I ll return it to the police tomorrow. Pocketing the jewel, I finished my walk back home. • 34. America In The Early 20th Century During the early 1900 s the United States was already familiar with sending their troops overseas to claim new territory. America has never been afraid to show authority and invade land, it s a tactic the United States government has perfected over the past 120 years. When the U.S. sees other nations becoming empires they want to join in on the action. Any government that takes overseas possession has an obligation to the people but it doesn t always go as planned. When a country gains power and becomes a world superpower no one can stop them from conquering territory. History as we know it would all change on February 20, 1896 when Senator Henry Cabot Lodge called for the United Statesto intervene in a rebellion happening in Cuba. This brought up a lot of controversy on what we should do as a country. One side argued that it was necessary for the U.S. as a nation to show off the nation s military and end the war that was... The Puerto Ricans were only allowed to elect a lower house of legislature. Unexplored lands and oceans inspire thousands to venture into the unknown, no matter the level of experience. Those who feel the pull cannot ignore it and would give up everything just to feel the thrill of the adventure. Percy Harrison Fawcett, born on the 18th of August of 1867, was one of those who had felt the pull and just could not resist. Fawcett took on the Amazon, specifically El Dorado, the city of gold. Close to nothing was known about the Amazon before he went in. Percy Fawcettwas one of the greatest explorers the world has ever seen. To be a good explorer one must have confidence, passion, and courage. In the book, Lost City of Z , author, David Grann, continuously presents examples of Fawcett being a great explorer by possessing these traits. In 1925, Percy Fawcett sets out to the Amazon to find El Dorado and though he does not return, he gets far enough in such a way that we as the readers can truly understand what makes a good explorer. For the duration of the novel, through Grann, Fawcett proves how confidence (such as his own), is a necessary trait for a successful explorer to have. For example, Nina Fawcett, Percy Fawcett s wife, told the Royal Geographical Society about Fawcett s faith in himself and his own skill set. Nina states, Major Fawcett contemplated cutting through 100 miles of forest... in a month (123). Especially without the

Mass Surveillance and the Panopticon Analysis Essay In Michael Foucault s Discipline and Punish , the late eighteen century English philosopher Jeremy Bentham s model of Panopticon was illustrated as a metaphor for the contemporary technologies of mass surveillance. Originally derived from the measures to control abnormal beings against the spreading of a plague, the Panopticon is an architecture designed to induce power with a permanent sense of visibility. With a tower in the center, surrounded by cells, the prisoners can be monitored and watched at any given time from the central tower. The goal of this architectural plan was to strip away any privacy and therefore create fear induced self regulation amongst the prisoners, with an unverifiable gaze The prisoners can never... An inspecting gaze, a gaze which each individual under its weight will end by interiorising to the point that he is his own overseer, each individual thus exercising this surveillance over, and against, himself. (Foucault) Despite the dehumanizing effect of Panopticon as an disciplinary mechanism based on constant observation and examination with every movement supervised and all events recorded. The Panopticon system as one of the most effective and economic models of exercising power and control over an constantly increasing population, soon became a formula, wide spread throughout our society. Along with the growing ethnology and capitalist economy, various methods of Panopticon through mass surveillance soon earned it s place in numerous regimes, becoming one of the most infinitely expandable Panopticon of the contemporary society. Schools, factories, hospitals and prisons today resemble each other, they are fit into the format of a panopticon structure, examining pupils, workers, patients and prisoners at any given time. As China developed into a great nation, the government began to form dynasties in which China is ruled by a specific emperor. The first dynasty to have an emperor was the Qin Dynasty, established by Shi Huang Di. This notorious name was self proclaimed by him and literally translates into the First Emperor of China. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Shi Huang Di was overthrown and China became conquered by another. Particularly, The Four Great Inventions have made a tremendous impact on our society as humans. These are the inventions of: Papermaking, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass, developed during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Starting with the art of papermaking, this process created a writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of the Eastern Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as opposed to heavy, rough bones or expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which was later updated and succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed, Shang could print the frame onto paper. Therefore, paper and printing were used as expected: creating a source of entertainment in books, information on news, producing art, and more. Progressively, the compass was conceived shortly afterwards. The initial compass had a magnetic rod among a bronze case with twenty four directions etched into it and was used until the 8th Century. Its brother instrument used water to suspend itself and minimize movement, thus allowing long distance sea navigation. Finally, the introduction of gunpowder had revolutionized China and the world. Gunpowder, which is made of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate, was discovered to burn rapidly, releasing immense volumes of gases. At first, this was used for firework displays, but was found to also be a powerful weapon. With the advantage of gunpowder, China had become a callous adversary in

Tips On Choosing A Wordpress Theme Tips on Choosing a WordPress Theme Choose Your Layout When you sit down to construct your first WordPress website or blog you have a very big decision to make immediately, and that s choosing a theme. This is probably the first thing you will do after you install the software, and its major because your theme, or layout, is the first thing your readers will see. Your theme represents you, and your goal is to make it as appealing as possible. People will make an instant judgement as to the quality and value of your website as soon as they land on your home page. Your header image should relay the message and purpose of your website. Your navigation bar should be user intuitive, and the color scheme should be soft and warm so you don t scare people off. All of this is made easy if you have chosen the best possible theme for your product or service. Lets learn a little about themes and then take a look at some tips on choosing your best possible WordPress theme. Look And Feel Keep in mind that themes are simply the look , and to some degree, feel of your website. Your theme is like the outside of your house; what people see first. It can have nice window dressing, pretty colors, fancy decorative brick and an overall pleasant appeal. If people like what they see they will enter, or (click) around and stay for a visit. This is what you want to keep your visitors in the house. And, it all starts by having the right theme. So start with an appealing theme and combine

Was one Authors view point more believable than the other? The Call of the Wild is a fictional story and is not based on a true event while Rosa Parks auto biography is a true story about her life, I would choose Rosa Parkslife story simply because the point of view she has taken and the emotion expressed throughout the story complies with the specific events that happened to her throughout her life. This story is based mostly on the life of Rosa Parks and her growing up in a segregation filled state. During the beginning of the book she talks about her family, what she used to do for a living and the conflicts between her parents. She tells us how she used to work on a plantation picking cotton for the earlier part of her life. Also she tells us how adjusting to living life without slavery was a bit harder than they had expected so soon after the war; their family underwent many changes and for the first time was able to purchase land. Rosa Parks tells us about her life from her earliest memories to the day she committed the act that helped end segregation. For the book that I read for the first semester The Call of the Wild was written in the third person point of view. The Auto biography Rosa Parks: My Story was written in the first person point of view. Personally I believe that for Rosa Parks autobiography there would be so much less detail if it was changed to a third person point of view. And while you re reading you would feel that the knowledge of the writer is somewhat limited and can t give a 100 pure account. For the first book that I read I believe that changing the perspective of the book from a third person to a first person point of view would add much more emotion into the book. This would make it feel as if you are in the characters position feeling what he or she is feeling, almost like a movie. Depending on the genre of the story, I would rather a first person point of view for fiction books. For an Auto biography I would also prefer a first person point of view. I realized that writing in a first person point of view depends on the story and the

Cabbage Vendor By Natasha Trethewey Summary I.Analysis of Cabbage Vendor by Natasha Trethewey from Domestic Work In Cabbage Vendor written by Natasha Trethewey, a woman talks about her gardening and cooking of cabbage. She seems to be selling some of her cabbage to a man and his first request is that he wants everything to be natural. He watches her through a peep hole as she gets the cabbage together for the man. The cabbage made me think as if she is getting herself together for the man. This sounds like a type of symbolism as if he was admiring her, but he wants her to be a natural woman. In America, most men want the woman that they are with to be natural in every way and still be beautiful. Although the woman might be beautiful natural, some woman feel beautiful once their beauty is enhanced by something. Beauty can be enhanced by makeup, hair relaxers, and even plastic surgery. Therefore, for a man to want you to be natural, you cannot have any make up, hair relaxers, and definitely not any plastic surgery. • 42. What Are The Core Values In Beowulf When first reading Beowulf, or even before that, many people often cringe at the idea of having to analyze, process, and understand Old English stories from the Anglo Saxon period. Along with the frustrations of comprehending just a sentence, sometimes the deeper meanings and overall image of the story can get lost. In the case of Beowulf, this story is no exception. However, not only is this Anglo Saxon story a heroic tale of a brave warrior who fights evil, but in reading the tales of Beowulf, it gives us a way to compare our own lifestyle and core values, to those of the warriors and people of that area. In our modern world, we associate warriors to be a variety of people who face challenges that far exceed those of the average human. Who have to face their fears and, to some extent, the possibility of losing their lives. To us humans, not only are these the (courageous) criterias of being a warrior, but we also expect them to be humble, selfless, and not to be arrogant or boastful about their achievements. Yet unlike our society today, however, cultural traditions and expectations from society back in the Anglo Saxon period were quite different, if not the opposite, in the ways warriors acted and held themselves in society. After first being introduced to Beowulf and his men, many readers would probably agree with the fact of being surprised by their appearance and first impressions when they came to Denmark. For starters, the idea of Beowulf and his fellow warriors

This theorem is widely used for circuit analysis simplification and to study circuit s initial condition and steady state response. In the experiment, the load resistance was removed. The Vth and Rth were found and the resultant current measured. After the experiment was carried out, it was verified that using the Thevenin s theorem procedure, the current in a particular load in this case has the same current flowing through it if it is solved using any other equivalence principle and maximum power will be transferred through load when Rth is Equivalent to RL. Introduction The present lab report is designed to describe the Thevenin Equivalents and Max Power Transfer. Moreover, the simplification and verification of the circuit network is necessary to identify to Thevenin equivalent. In addition, the maximum level of power transfer was also identified. Thevenin theorem is applied on the DC resistive circuits. The theorem holds that the linear electronic network with the help of the voltage as well as the current sources is important and the level of resistance can be replaced with the equivalent voltage source. To fulfill such objectives, the lab experiment was designed [1]. In circuit analysis, Thevenin s theorem for linear electrical networks states that any combination of voltage sources, current sources, and
