What has given the Prius continued growth has been the ever growing trend of
higher gas prices that has led many gas guzzling Americans to take a second look at
the Toyota Prius, this is evident by recent trend in increase in the U.S. Prius sales in

5. Essay about Leaving Las Vegas
Leaving Las Vegas, directed by Mike Figgis and based on the autobiographical
novel by John O Brien, is an emotional story about an alcoholic who rejects life and
wants to drink himself to death in Las Vegas, and an unselfish prostitute who loves
him the way he is. Ben, played by Nicholas Cage, was a formermovie producer in
Los Angeles and has obviously crumbled in the glamour world of Hollywood which
is shown in the opening scene. Here Ben is already an alcoholic when he disturbs
former colleagues that are embarrassed of his appearance at the restaurant. Ben is
unstable and a mess when one of the men give him money and tell him not to contact
him again. Ben then gets fired and ultimately decides to drink himself to death in Las

The director mainly used eye level shots, to leave it up to the audience to judge the
two main characters of the movie, although certain power struggles in the film are
shown from high angles to illustrate someone dominating a conversation or argument.
Figgis also uses some point of view shots to show the imbalance during Ben s
drunken periods where the camera is placed at an oblique angle to show tension and
approaching movements. The images in the film are in high contrast with streaks of
blackness and harsh shafts of light to underline the dramatic events that occur.
When it comes to the editing, Figgis mainly used cutting to continuity to preserve
the fluidity of most events without the necessity to show them all. The director
also uses flash forwards a few times to give you an idea about the destiny of Sera,
which is shown when she reflects about her encounter with Ben to an invisible
therapist. Figgis also shot the movie using Super 16mm film to give it a tense,
documentary feel. The music is also very unique because the jazzy soundtrack isn t
the usual music in a movie with such an emotional and dramatic plot. The actors
have a great impact on the success of this movie because the extremely difficult
roles were played by excellent actor stars. The story is done very well because it
starts off showing us the situation of the two main characters as they are and as the
will be throughout
6. A Brief Note On The Illinois Road Worker
As evident, the infrastructure of our state is imperative to the success of our
economic heartbeat. The state of Illinois maintains approximately 4,000 miles of
public roadways making our state s road among the greatest challenges to our states
budget whether it be through maintenance, expansion, or pioneering new paths each
factor has a common denominator. That common denominator is the Illinois road
worker. Although in the past the demands of our states road workers have come as
demanding and in turn challenging to our state s motorists, it has become second
nature to thoroughly asses our road workers needs in the name of safety. This
policy memo serves as an informative tool in the discussion currently pending
between our states legislature and the Federal Highway Administration along with
roadways worker representative councils to include the National Safety Council
(NSC), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Bureau of Safety Engineering
(BSE) and M60 road workers union to begin the process of distribution and
utilization of what is known as positive protective devices (PPD), or roadway
barrier devices to be utilized in order to better protect roadway workers in all hours
of the day, in any season of the year, in any weather conditions. The current
discussion involves conditions for appropriate use of positive protection devices to
effectively protect road workers against motorized trafficin addition to the installation
and maintenance of such temporary traffic

9. Statistics Is The Science Of Collecting Data And Analyzing It
Statistics is the science of collecting data and analyzing it in large quantities to
predict or prepare outcomes based on data gathered. This paper will share with you
an insight as to what I learned over the past five weeks in Business Statistics. It will
include a detailed look at descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, hypothesis
development and testing, selection of appropriate statistical tests, evaluating
statistical results, and a close look at the role of statistics. Business statistics has

We try to conclude from the evidence what a sample group may think. For
inferential statistics, we use it to make decisions on the probability of the observed
difference between the groups and if it is dependable or just happened by chance
based on the group. ...we use inferential statistics to make inferences from our data to
more general conditions; we use descriptive statistics simple to describe what s going
on in our data (socialresearchmethods.net). An example of inferential statistics is, a
gym teacher wants to know the average amount of three point shots the students in
this particular school can make in 30 seconds, he chooses only the students on the
basketball team to sample it, the results he get would not be a representative sample
simply because that does not represent a random sample of the entire school, but the
results he gets and writes from this test would be considered an inferential statistic.
In quantitative research we are trying to answer a question or prove a hypothesis
that we have. To do this, in statistics there is a process call hypothesis testing or
otherwise known as a significance test. When doing a significance test, we must
first set up our hypothesis or educated guess as to what we think the research will
prove. For our example, we are going to take a coin with both a heads side and a

achieved the status of an epic. The only book that has sold more copies than Gone

suggested to those who enjoy Civil War fiction because of its historical
accurateness. Mitchell once wrote the following about her novel. Despite its
length and many details it is basically just a simple yarn of fairly simple people.
There s no fine writing, there s no philosophizing, there is a minimum of
description, there are no grandiose thoughts, there are no hidden meanings, no
symbolism, nothing sensational. The novel is the basis of the exceptionally
admired Academy Award winning 1939 film of the same name. The film rights
were acquired to the novel in July, 1936 for fifty thousand dollars. That was a
record amount for a novel from an unknown author. Once the film was released the
novel had surpassed one half million copies sold. Additional records were set when
the movie had its first air date on television in two parts in 1976. It was restored and

Keira Knightley is a beautiful and talented British actress known for her complex
and varied film roles. Her body of work has included drama as well as comedic
roles. She has earned the respect of many through her accomplished acting career
and endearing personality; inspite of her many personal struggles, she has

both heavily involved in showbusiness. Will was an actor and Sharman was an
actress turned playwright. The couple only planned on having one child, Keira s
older brother Caleb, born in 1979. Even though she was a surprise her parents
couldn t have been happier to welcome another child to the family. Life was going
as normal as possible for the Knightley s with their two beautiful children. It was
inevitable that Keira and Caleb would be raised in a household where writing and

the age of six she was diagnosed with dyslexia. Dyslexia is characterized by difficulty
with learning to read fluently and with understanding despite normal intelligence. It
is the most common learning difficulty. Keira severely struggled with reading in

12. Comparative Advantage Of Blassa Index
It is important that a country specialize in the commodity in which it poses a
comparatives advantage over others. In order to identify the strong sector in the
economy, the actual trade flows was analyzed. This idea was later improvised and
refined by Bela Balassa and gave his famous Balassa Index.
This index is commonly used in International Economics to calculate the relative
advantage or disadvantage that a country poses in a certain class of goods and
services. The value of the index shows the revealed comparative advantage of a
country in good. The Balassa Index is fundamentally a standardized export share.
Which implies that if the BI if balsa index for country A for industry j, then the index

Through the Balassa index it was found that the value of RCA for Indian
pharmaceutical export is 2.61 which is more than 1 that signifies that India has a
comparative advantage over ASEAN which has its RCA value less than one.
Hence the Balassa index showed that India posses a higher degree of advantage in
export of pharmaceuticals, thus it should specialize in this sector and generate income.
Figure 3
The above figure shows the export trend of pharmaceuticals from Indian market to
the world. The highest export was recorded in financial year 2015 16. Despite of
the fall in subsequent year it still maintained it power in the global market. India
enjoys relative advantage in this sector, which is been calculated by the Balassa
index. The strength of the exports has been compared with overall export of the
ASEAN. As Indian pharmaceutical sector was growing similarly the pharmaceutical
sector of ASEAN was flourishing which was making it an attractive for JAPAN and

On the contrary, ...those states that allocated relatively large levels of resources to
one programme also allocated a relatively large level of resources to the other
programme. Moreover, when spending on correctional programs is substituted for
total spending on crime, this same result appears in most cases as well: those states
with relatively high resource commitments to education programs also provide
relatively high resource commitments to correctional programs (Marlow, Shiers,
1997).
Transfers, or intra government transfer payments, is when the Federal government
pays the State government through various programs, also known as grants. Non
matching transfer can be either selective (conditional) or general (unconditional).
The former is funds granted for a specific purpose, such as the procurement of new
vehicles for law enforcement officers, which almost exactly match budget and need.
The latter is without this stipulation and is without a specific objective or rather can
be utilized toward any means, such as a grant given to a State that would utilize it
for supporting many ventures in a region in order to stimulate its economy. This is a
significant portion of revenue of State to mitigate fiscal gaps: the difference between
fiscal needs and fiscal capacity.
Sales and gross taxes are indirect taxes in that they are on goods and services
14. The Techniques Used in American Beauty Essay
The п¬Ѓlm American Beauty, directed by Sam Mendes is a п¬Ѓlm about
imprisonment and escape from imprisonment (Mendes, 1999). American Beauty
explores the breakdown of a suburban family man whose life journeys from self
loathing and emptiness to freedom and liberation but at the ultimate cost of his life.
Mendes effectively employs a range of techniques to help convey the meaning of this
п¬Ѓlm such as set design, camera angles, colour and soundtrack.
Cinema often uses structured set design and camera angles to convey meaning to an
audience. Throughout American Beauty, MendesКј use of set design and camera
angles have been carefully structured to emphathise the п¬ЃlmКјs theme of
imprisonment. In the opening scene the audienceКјs introduction to the ... Show more

Interestingly, as the п¬Ѓlm progresses and LesterКјs relationships evolve, the camera
angles also evolve in reverse and the audience begins to see Lester shot in a low
angle and characters like Carolyn are shot in a high angle, indicating that Carolyn is
now vulnerable. These altered camera angles give Lester a triumphant image.
Another technique Mendes uses is colour. The use of colour is often an important
technique utilised by п¬Ѓlm directors to communicate themes and ideas to an
audience. In American Beauty, Mendes powerfully uses colour to communicate that
the characters are attempting to escape from their imprisonment. Initially the
characters are seen in environments that are very dull and nondescript, as Mendes
(1999) states when referring to LesterКјs work setting. As LesterКјs quest for
escapement gains momentum, the vivid colour of red is gradually introduced more
into this п¬Ѓlm through subtle furnishings in the Burnham house and particularly
integrated with LesterКјs sexual fantasies. The use of the vibrant, red rose petal is
п¬Ѓrst introduced when Lester and Carolyn attend JaneКјs cheer performance, where
Lester loses himself as he enters his п¬Ѓrst tunnel of fantasy (Mendes, 1999).
Deschler (1999) states the rose is symbolic of American beauty, and the colour red
symbolises passion and love. The significance of the rose petal and the colour red
is repeatedly seen throughout the п¬Ѓlm in house furnishings such as a bouquet of

Overall, this new law does reflect the values of society and addresses the changing
concerns over safe driving in the era of smartphones, although driver reactions were
mixed. To accurately measure usage and the societal mood on this issue, the
National Road Safety Council (NRSC) conducted a series of five surveys before the
law was introduced. The last four surveys (2008 2011) included a question measuring
community attitudes in relation to the (then hypothetical) introduction of a new law
banning the use of hands free mobile phones while driving. This hypothetical law
attracted 39% community support. This was largely because: People clearly
believed that their chances of having an accident would increase if they were using a
mobile phone while driving. The NRSC survey results show that the overwhelming
majority (85% of respondents) believed this to be the case, as this pie chart indicates:

16. Are Wolves Inaccurate
First impressions are important but, they can be completely inaccurate. Wolves
have been given multiple inaccurate labels. They are given these labels, due to
mythical stories. Wolves were on the brink of extinction, during a hate love
relationship between humans, creating a vast dismissal of knowledge, about
wolves and their ways of life. Wolves have been hated much longer than they ve
been appreciated. As soon as people raised livestock, wolves were enemies
(Swinburne Brandenburg, 2009). Everyone knew them as a symbol of savagery.
Stories were produced, and even in bibles they were referred to as evil. In the tenth
century, King Edward, was allowing taxes to be paid with wolf heads. There were
also bounties, set on wolves. Later on though, this hatred turned into curiosity. In the
1930s, a few scientists began to rethink wolves role in the ecosystem. It was
discovered that, not one single healthy wild wolf, killed, or seriously injured a
human. A biology instructor, who goes by the name Sigurd Olson, sorted fact from
fiction, about wolves. Another scientist, L. David Mech, studied wolves for many
years. He watched 77 wolf attacks, that were targeting moose, and only six kills were
made. Soon, it became obvious to scientists, that wolves were important for many

Theodor...
In his work, Dialectic of Enlightenment, Theodor Adorno analyzes the nature of the
culture industry. People everywhere are constantly being consumed by the culture
industry, which is a term for the mass production of cultural goods such as films,
magazines, and music. Adorno is concerned that the government uses the cultural
industry as a way to deceive the masses and manipulate them into passivity. This idea
remains true in today s society. Young men and women are more interested in the
release of the newest Taylor Swift or Adele song than political issues. People have
become less intellectual as they are being consumed by the culture industry. It is much
easier for a person to let himself be consumed by mass media and to let the media...

They just accept it as a part of modern society because it is easier to go along with the
system rather than try to resist it. The culture industry affects everything in today s
society. Adorno states, The whole world is passed through the filter of the culture
industry (99). Everywhere people go, there are billboards, commercials, and
advertisements that demand their attention. Before seeing a movie, one must sit
through previews of other movies that may interest them, as the theater hopes that the
moviegoer returns to watch another movie. In the culture industry, people no longer
exist as individuals. They only exist as objects that increase the wealth of the big
business owners that control this capitalistic society. Because no one contests the
existence of the culture industry, the culture industry can continue to exist. About the
film and radio industries, Adorno states, They call themselves industries, and the
published figures for their directors incomes quell any doubts about the social
necessity of their finished products (95). Creating unique and groundbreaking films
in today s world is considered risky, and filmmakers would rather create sequels to
films that were successful in the box office. People excitedly consume these sequels
and the directors make huge profits, thereby ensuring yet another sequel to be made.
Adorno also points out that the film and radio

segregated schools could never be equal to each other. The Court decided that laws

this is significant because the helmet is giving them a full length view 360 degrees. If
the United States military was to implement this technology in every soldier pilots jet

These disputes are adjudicated in the High Court. One of the roles of the High Court
is the interpretation of the Constitution. The High Court does this when there is a
specific case is before the court requiring a ruling relating to the interpretation of the
application of a section of the Constitution. It does not give advisory opinions.
Interpretation of the Constitution has been needed not only because of disagreements
over the meaning and application of particular provisions, but also because of
developments which were not foreseen when the Constitution was written. At the
present time, evidence of how the role of the constitution applies to the governance of
Australia, can be illustrated by the current considerations due in the High Court in
determining citizenship eligibility of parliamentarians. This ruling, dependent upon
the High Courts interpretation of the constitution, will determine the legality of some
parliamentarians to be members of parliament. Example3: Over site
By having constitutional over site in matters relating to the implementation of laws,
one important aspect of this role is to ensure that all Australian citizens are treated

22. Sojourner Truth Research Paper
Sojourner Truth once declared, at the Women s Rights Convention in 1851, If the
first woman God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down all
alone, these together ought to be able to turn it back and get it right side up again (
Sojourner Truth Encyclopedia). This statement brought a wave of protest from the
men in the crowd and left most women with renewed hope for receiving equal rights.
Sojourner Truth was a woman s rights activist and African American abolitionist, on
top of being a freed slave. Sojourner Truth had the worst of both worlds being that she
was African American, and also a woman. She spoke at a countless amount of
conventions, largely inspired by Lucrietta Mott. Rather than using weapons, Truth...

Truth was one of the few freed slaves that made their living as abolitionists, along
with William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick Douglass, and David Ruggles (Clift). On
June 12, 1863 Sojourner Truth spoke at a Sabbath School in Michigan. The entire
audience gave Truth their entire attention, despite the fact that she was once a
slave who was thought of as barely a human. Does not God love colored children
as well as white children? And did not the same Savior die to save the one as well
as the other? If so, white children must know that if they go to Heaven, they must
go there without their prejudice against color, for in Heaven black and white are
one in the love of Jesus (Butler). This speech was easily one of Sojourner Truth s
most famous concerning the topic of the abolition of slavery. Every member of
the crowd was truly touched, and had a hard time not wanting to help with the
cause. Also concerning the injustice of slavery, Sojourner Truth delivered a heart
wrenching speech on how much being a slave can alter a person and their
viewpoints on life. On October 4, 1856, Truth spoke one of her final speeches
before her death in Michigan. I want to know what has become of the love I ought
to have for my children? I did have love for them, but what has become of it? I
cannot tell you. I have had two husbands but I never possessed one of my own. I

The research topic is Homeland security and the implementation of community
policing. Community policing promotes community involvement, and problem
solving techniques, to reduce fear of crime and social disorder. Homeland security is
the use of government agencies especially law enforcement and security to reduce,
prevent, and investigate terrorism and other crimes related to homeland security. The
goal of homeland security and community policing can complement each other and
share same goals. This is an important topic because of the current terror attacks and
threats against the United States, France, and other nations. Community policing may
be able to help prevent and control terrorism. Community policing has been
implemented to help bring the community and the policetogether. After the terrorist
attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001, law enforcement
started to
neglect community policing in favor of homeland security. The ability to implement
community policing and homeland security initiatives can help provide intelligence

community policing has had on investigating and deterring terrorism. The literature

policing is implemented. This will help understand where law enforcement is at in
their ability to balance between community relations and national
24. The Power Of Dark Love
The Power of Dark Love The speaker in Porphyria s Lover says, That moment she
was mine, mine, fair, perfectly pure and good (Browning, lines 36 37). Both Robert
Browning and Edgar Allan Poe share a love for the themes of obsession, desire, and
complicated love. Each of those three themes play an important role in dark love
poetry. Each poet describes the main character in their poems as a woman worthy of
the speaker s obsessive, complicated, and desirable love. Both Robert Browning s
tragic Porphyria s Lover and Edgar Allan Poes mysterious Annabel Lee explore the
theme of dark and obsessive love through their use of imagery, alliteration, and
mood throughout the poems. At the early age of five, Robert Browning was a
very profound child being that he was already extremely knowledgeable in the arts
of reading and writing. He was a very anxious student and continued to learn many
languages by the age of fourteen. In 1833, Browning published Pauline and in
1840 he published Sordello but both were sadly known as a failure. He even
attempted to publish several plays but they were all unsuccessful. Browning did
not become successful until he published his collection of poems Men and Women
in 1855. In 1842, Browning published Porphyria s Lover, which is also a successful
poem ( Robert Browning ). In Porphyria s Lover, the speaker is watching and
waiting for Porphyria on a cold, stormy night. Once Porphyria has returned, she lights
the fire, takes off her warm

enjoy the stories included in the speech and think they accurately describe a

26. Treatment Options for Childhood Onset Schizophrenia
Child Onset Schizophrenia Treatment Options
The present clinical treatment strategies (pharmacological, psychosocial, family
intervention) for child onset schizophrenia (COS) are varied and abundant but very
costly because of its rarity and the number of sites required to research the disease
(Asarnow, Thompson McGrath, 2004). Let it be noted that remission of COS is rare
but it is the goal of research to accomplish. The American Academy of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry places emphasis on antipsychotic medication,
psychoeducation, psychotherapy, and social educational programs (Asarnow et al.,
2004). Antipsychotic medication falls into two categories novel and conventional
(Remington, Martin, Jain, Baskys Dickey, 1999, p. 55). The novel category contains
risperidone, clozapine, quetiapine, and olanzapine. The conventional contains
haloperidol, loxapine, molindone, pimozide chlorpromazine, and piperidine
(Remington, Martin, Jain, Baskys Dickey, 1999, p. 55). The in depth discussion of all
these is beyond the scope of this short paper and only contains a few of these
medications.
As noted earlier in this paper the three phases of COS treatment are acute,
stabilization, and the maintenance phase. A pharmacological approach, using
antipsychotic medication, is used during the acute phase of COS (Asarnow et al.,
2004). It also needs to be noted that there is no completely safe (without side effects
like tardive dyskinesia) antipsychotic, but some (e.g.

In his essay quot; Two Concepts of Liberty, quot; Isaiah Berlin distinguishes between
two conceptions of freedom, namely negative and positive conception of freedom.
Basically he defines negative liberty as the absence of coercion. He states: quot;To
coerce a man is to deprive him of freedom quot; (121). According to him, coercion is
the intention to interfere in the freedom of an individual. Thus, absence of coercion
is absence of deliberate, intentional coercion. For him, negative libertyrequires an
immune area, away from the obtrusive action of other people. For the
accomplishment of freedom quot;[s]ome portion of human existence must remain

Therefore Berlin, proposes rejection of positive liberty for the preservation of
relatively safe negative notion of liberty.
I do believe that, the problem and philosophical decision to choose negative liberty,
lies in the obscurity of the two conceptions of liberty in Berlin s analysis. In fact, the
differentiation of these two conceptions is not clear in his analysis and both of them
contain the same conception without incompatibility for leading us to choose one
among of them. As he says: The essence of the notion of liberty, both in the positive
and in the negative senses, is the holding off of something to someone of others who
trespass on my field or asset their authority over me, or of obsessions, fears, neuroses,
irrational forces intrudes and despots of one kind and another . Negative and positive
liberties are not mutually exclusive concepts. The real differentiating force, for the
two them lies in practice, the differentiation that history brought on the concept of
liberty. The conception of negative liberty contains certain notion of positive liberty.
The opposite, the notions of negative liberty in positive liberty, having the right to

In this section, Jeannette Walls starts off, in the present time by telling the readers
about her seeing her mom on the street, that she hasn t seen in a long time. Jeannette
uses emotional words like blustering and fretted to show that seeing her mom was
an emotional time. Later in the section, she goes way back into her life to when she
was three years old and when her family and her was living in the desert. She started
off telling a story of when she was on fire. This story was intense, it was really
dramatic on her parents part, her dad was screaming at her and the doctor a lot.
Then she talked about when they moved to Las Vegas, her family lived in a motel
room, which didn t last long, they had to leave Vegas in a rush, because her dad
was cheating in blackjack and the dealer found out. The last story in the section is
where her family drove to San Francisco and stayed in another motel. One night her
dad was at the bar, across the street. He left Jeannette and her three other siblings in
the room. Jeannette got bored so she decided to play with fire and that let to a big
disaster resulting in the whole hotel burning down.
Question 1: Why would Jeannette s dad leave all four young kids in the motel room
by themselves?
Question 2: Why would Jeannette s mom let her cook on the stove when she was

Mulloy s 2014 book The World of The John Birch Society. Mulloy agrees with Nash
about the importance of the 1964 election to the society, believing that they
reached the height of their influence in that campaign. He portrays the Society as
being more politically powerful than Nash, and that by Nixon denouncing them
during his 1962 gubernatorial campaign in California, he alienated many
influential grass roots conservatives, which was part of the reason for his loss.
Mulloy makes it seem as if Goldwater could have denounced the Society and
distanced himself from extremist elements of the party, but partially because of
their power and influence at the time, he was afraid of losing their support. Mulloy
believes that the society played an essential role in the revitalization of
conservatism, and agrees with Nash they were pushed from the political mainstream

considerable influence on the political fringe and that many of their ideas still
reflected those of many Americans even after 1964. Even without mainstream

communism and the radical New Left of the era. Mulloy sees the John Birch Society

1.The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise
the plaintiff would be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident,
which he may not know. As stated by NH Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong
Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no more than a common sense approach to the

Despite not reading all of The Inferno, the certain part I did read gave me a true
illustration of the entire work. Particularly in Canto 18, readers observe Dante s
writing techniques as well as the main ideas or themes present in the work. Canto
18 is an especially excellent illustration of Dante as a visual poet and his imagery.
For example, it begins with Dante describing Malebolge as made of all stone the
color of crude iron / as is the wall that makes it way around it. / Right in the middle
of the evil field / is an abyss, a broad and yawning pit (2 5). Dante continues in
writing more of a unique description about the geography of Hell. His
descriptiveness allows readers to feel and see the cold, crude iron surrounding
Malebolge and see the huge pit in the middle, too. As when I read the description
of the geography, Dante s writing creates fear in me just as he does for other
readers in all parts of The Inferno. Besides Dante s visual poetry, he also includes
very shocking imagery that affects all five of the senses. Canto 18 holds an
excellent example of Dante s imagery. At the end of the canto, Dante writes, The
ditch beneath / held people plunged in excrement that seemed / as if it had been
poured from human privies (112 114). These few lines are a wonderful portrayal of

With so many rules in the English language, it is easy for one to wonder how they

artists have had the mission to go forward and break these rules. Gertrude Stein s

A line just distinguishes it (Stein, p.6). While asking what is the flattering length
she ends up defining it by a line. A line can only be defined by a contour or outline.
It cannot be defined by actual matter. Therefore, the serene length ends up being
defined by not being able to be defined. This gives readers an unending openness to
interpretation and perspective. In Gertrude Stein s Water Raining she leaves the
reader without any certainty. Stein writes Water is astonishing and difficult

punctuation, the reader is able to interrupt the poem according to how one sees fit.
Placing a period after astonishing (Stein, p. 10) makes it so the meadow and
stroke are strenuous on their own. A period after altogether (Stein, p. 10) leave the
meadow and stroke to come as an aftermath from the water. While a period after

is an afterthought. Stein was not the only one to use visual art to make literature.

The Effects of Caffeine on Anaerobic Performance
Introduction
Caffeine is a natural stimulant which is commonly used in sport for increasing heart
rate via the nervous system. Anaerobic performance is when an exercise or activity
is done in limited volumes of oxygen this can be examples such as jumping,
sprinting and the overall effects it has on sports. There are very little articles in
which write about the effects of caffeine on anaerobic performance in which most
articles talk about 3mg/kg, however, there is very little research on the effects of
using lower dosage on anaerobic performance. The main purpose of this text will

Jump performance is a form of anaerobic performance that is used in sports.
Caffeine has shown to improve anaerobic performance by increasing muscle power
and agility on volleyball players Del Coso et al. (2014). The study suggested that
caffeine increased in volleyball skills required such as jump height by 3mg/kg,
however, the study didn t measure lower dosage to see if it will still have the same
effect also Abian et al. (2014) found that caffeine had a significant effect on jump
performance in badminton players. Both trials support the effects of caffeine on
anaerobic respiration. Both trials underwent a double blind trial in which both
volunteers and experimenters had no effects on the results, this allows the results to
be more reliable.
42. Digital Story Project Analysis
At the start of the project, I was a bit nervous and hesitant about how I would go
about with the project, considering I had no video editing/creating experience. I
knew that the digital story project was important and a great opportunity to reach
out to others in the community. It was great be a part of something that can make
a difference. When Sara and I first met with Monica for the first time prior to the
real interview, it was a really nice conversation between all three of us. I felt that
Monica was meant to be our interviewee and that it was our mission to share her
story. That first interaction with Monica reminded me of both of my mother here in
the U.S. and in Vietnam. It reminded me of how hard they have to work everyday to

First, I would make sure that the tape recorder worked properly and that I knew
what all the buttons were. Since it was my first time using a tape recorder, I know
I shouldn t blame myself. Secondly, I would make sure to create a list of questions
that was more organized and similar to create a story. Thirdly, I would make sure
that Monica had all the knowledge and resources to communicate with us and the
ability to use her phone/email. This is because we learned that Monica didn t have
a lot of experience with technology and she didn t know how to exactly worked her
email. Throughout the project, we would learn that she had a friend that helped
her send emails and so on. If I was given a do over, I would figure out what was the
most easiest way for Monica to re record and learn what her strength and weakness
were. I realized that it would ve been easier if the tape recorder worked the first
time we did the interview. Either way, the digital story project was an amazing
experience for me and it truly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I learned that
everything is a learning process, and that I should not be too hard on myself. Now
that I have learned the basic of video editing, I am excited to do more! (Thank you
Professor Nguyen for making the learning process so exciting). In the end, I am
looking forward to work on future projects with Amy and to further help them with
their goals in changing how the world view
43. Health And Life Of Polynesia
Health and Life in Polynesia
Polynesia is geographically categorized as the triangular area between Easter Island,
New Zealand and Hawaii. Some of the main island groups that are included in within
the triangle are Tonga, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Niue, Tokelau, Tuvalu and French
Polynesia. While these are islands are separated geographically by the Pacific Ocean,
culturally they are known to have many similarities and can be considered united
rather than divided by the ocean (Capstick, Norris, Sopoaga, Tobata, 2009). When it
comes to health challenges each of these islands are vulnerable to the same issues, as
a result they make a joint effort to tackle these issues. Over the years Polynesia has
had an increase of urbanization and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Polynesian natives have decided to abandon their traditional diet for a more
appealing and glamourous imported foods that are nutrient poor and full of unhealthy
fats and sugar.
A few health professionals argue that it is the lack of nutrition education that plays a
main role in the shift to such an unhealthy diet. However, Polynesian health care
professionals have to disagree as they mention that nutrition education is included
in the school curriculum but it is the challenge of converting education to
behaviors. Children are being taught about how to ear properly and what are
healthy items they can choose to eat however, when they go to lunch junk food
sold because the schools know they will make a profit off the sales (World Health
Organization, 2010). There are very minimal regulations on food products in
Polynesia. While people may be educated about healthy items when it comes time
to pick out foods they have another barrier as food labels vary in language
depending on where they are imported from. Majority of the Polynesian island
communities speak English or Maori. With the majority of the imported foods
coming from countries such as Malaysia, China and the Philippines, a mass amount
of the food labels are not in English or Maori making it difficult or almost impossible
for people to read the nutrition content. Regulations requiring food labels to be in
English, the primary language in most Pacific Island
44. Christianity, And World View Of The World
Christianity, and the world view of the believer. Introduction How does Christianity
influence people s view of the world? How for example does it differ from the pre
Christian world views of the Romans and the Greeks? Do Catholics and Protestants
see the world in the same way? And what about the the many sects within
Protestantism? The Greek Orthodox? The Coptics? The early Christians? The
question is ultimately about how, and in what way does religion influence peopleВґs
view of the world. An essay as short as this one cannot give a definite answer to all
these questions, Christianityhas after all changed remarkably in its 2000 years of
existence. The early Christians had very different ideas of the faith, and the world
they lived in that did later Christians. Here, only a brief overview of the most
important points that distinguish Christianity from pre Christianity, and Christian
sects from each other can be given. In this essay I will discuss the pre Christian
world and how its ethos differed from Christian ones. I will also discuss the
characteristics of monotheism, as well as the special characteristics of Christianity, and
finally the differences between major Christian movements such as Catholics and
protestants, liberals and fundamentalists shall be explored. Monotheism and
Christianity Christianity is a monotheistic religion and as such it shares a few
characteristics with other monotheistic religions. The one true godis the creator and

45. The Negative Effects Of Globalization
After reading the history of this person, I experienced different feelings in the first
pride that in this world there are still such people, secondly the sadness that I as a
person still failed to do something extraordinary for this world. From what I have
read, I have noticed, to a large extent, the positive aspects of globalization. Even
Samir himself speaks about this that they greatly influenced him Globalization has
had a very strong effect on me. It has allowed me to live with my friends and
extended families that live in very different cultures and settings.
He also talks about the moments that globalization gave him, Globalization has also
allowed me to be exposed to several languages. I am fluent in English, Spanish, and

Although I am now living in another country, the only thing that could affectme is the
moment with fast food and coffee, about which we could read, but nevertheless the
knowledge of the language at a different level and communication with people helped
me to uncover a number of factors, How much the world is different. In the sense that
globalization can influence us in terms of thinking, because we thought at home
differently than when we are in another country, and we have to think and act
differently.
We could read above how the globalization of the pop industry influences the world,
the young generation s world that movies and TV shows dictate to the world how
we live and dress. The world of music I want to talk about it and about how music
affects globalization. After all, every nation and people has and has the roots of
musical style and sound (its folk music) but the tendencies of the new world are
changing everything and the US is one of the biggest industries that influence it. We
remember how the first emo, Goths and other fans of these themes appeared. And
the fact that music affects us on our feelings, because under every mood we listen to
different music. When sad we listen to the sad and etc. Everyone has his own idol
which we end up trying to please. As a result, the younger generation forgets the style
and sound that was inherent in its people. I also want to touch on the theme of books
that foreign books have become

Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla: Their lives, inventions, and impact
In the mid 1800 s two important people were born; those people were Thomas
Edison and Nikola Tesla. The reason these people are important is because those two
men would help shape a new age of advancements in technology with their work.
Mankind would be changed forever with the work of these men. Electricity is an
essential part for everyone in America and for most people around the world.
Without electricity the world would begin on a path to downfall, we need electricity
to charge our devices, to light up and give power to our house, to keep businesses and
stores in business and much more. Without electricity none of ... Show more content

While working at the train station Edison saved a toddler s life and the father
awarded him by teaching Thomas the skills to work a telegraph. This would be
important for Thomas later in life as telegraphy would be something that he would
be doing as a career for a certain part of his life. At the time of the American Civil
War, Edison worked across the country as a telegrapher. However due to his scarlet
fever as a child he began to develop hearing problems and due to the important use of
hearing signals for telegraphy, telegraphy became difficult for Thomas. Thomas later
left telegraphy in 1869 and moved on to just working on inventions. In 1871, Edison
lost his mother, and later he married his first wife Mary Stillwell. Unfortunately for
Thomas he soon began to have financial troubles and met problems due to the
situation. Thomas s father came to help his son, and thanks to Thomas s father help,
they built Thomas s iconic laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey. Thomas invented
the Carbon Transmitter in 1877, a device which improved the transmission in the
telephone. Thanks to his past work and skills on the telegraph, Thomas invented the
phonograph, a device which could record sound and reproduce that same sound.
Through these inventions Thomas was given the name The Wizard of Menlo Park by
the press. Then came his most famous invention the incandescent lightbulb. Unlike
what some people think, Thomas Edison did not invent the lightbulb, he did however
