Dangers Of Peer Pressure On Girls
Dangers of Peer Pressure on Girls As a little girl I had much confidence about myself and felt I looked
the best from my school as well as many other girls from my school. Nowadays, many girls are
pressured into being perfect in a way they feel they will never accomplish. Little girls such as ten year
olds have started to show low self esteem and hate to their body image because of the models that are
being constantly promoted. As 10TV stated, When you were 10 or 11, you probably didn t give much
thought to body image. Today, kids that age are worried more about looking like Barbie than playing
Barbie. Girls are punishing themselves with cutting, going on extreme diets, and often kill themselves
because they hate themselves. Girls are also seen wearing makeup at a young age to improve their
facial features and think they will now finally be accepted in society as being perfect. A recent Mintel
survey showed that six out of ten seven year olds wear lipstick, and two in five use eyeshadows. (
Pretty Pressure: Girls it pays to be pretty, but not too pretty. ) So even though social media is showing
off beautiful women to give good advertisement, girls are being affected by constantly feeling down
and wanting to fit into society and be accepted and seen as perfect, they hate themselves for not being
pretty enough as celebrities that have gone through many surgeries to get that perfect image, and some
cases have led to issues such as depression, cutting, eating problem, and

The API 20E is used for the identification of gram negative bacteria and specially of the family
Enterobacteriaceae. This system utilizes a plastic compartmentalized in 20 spaces. Those
compartments are a cupule and a small tube that contains a specific dehydrated substance. After you
inoculated each compartment with an unknown bacteria, a reaction will occur in 18 24hours. The
results were organized in a Reading Table and given a number based on the results. With this number
it is possible to identify the bacteria.

Bell Jar Figurative Language
In the passage, the character of Esther Greenwood represents the struggle of women trying to hold
their place in a modern, yet conservative society. Author Sylvia Plath uses the character of Esther
Greenwood and figurative language to portray the disarming role of society in the 1950s. The Bell Jar
revolves around Esther who is a wonderful student and an aspiring poet. She clearly struggles with
societies expectations which tell her to be both educated and a homemaker. The dichotomies of her
society leave Esther bitter and unable to decide a future for herself. Plath uses Esther s point of view
to reveal the internal struggle felt by many women, including herself, due to the restraints of
contemporary society. She holds herself to impossible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esther thinks to herself, I felt like a racehorse in a world without racetracks or a champion college
footballer suddenly confronted by Wall Street and a business suit, his days of glory shrunk to a little
gold cup on his mantel with a date engraved on it like the date on a tombstone . The imagery is
astounding and morbid at the same time. The references to helplessness and death are evident as
Esther feels herself pushed and pulled in many directions, all that do not have any basis. Her future
lies in her getting good grades, going to a good college, but not to pursue her dream as a poet,
something she excels in, but rather to find a good man and discard her years of effort in order to please
him. This all leads to the fig tree which symbolizes all of the potential Esther has as a woman. She can
pick whichever path she wants, a wife an editor and explorer, yet I saw myself sitting in the crotch of
this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn t make up my mind which of the figs I would
choose . Esther is so torn between the wants of society and those of her own that she is unable to
decide. She doesn t want to disappoint her mother so she keeps on agreeing with the pretentious
fiancee Buddy Willard. Yet the words of her magazine editor, a successful yet lonely older woman
named Jay Cee, still haunt her as well, telling her that learning another

Tajikistan
Republic of Tajikistan
Tajikistan (officially the Republic of Tajikistan) is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia.
Afghanistan borders it to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and People s
Republic of China to the east. Tajikistan also lies adjacent to Pakistan s Chitral and the Gilgit Baltistan
region, separated by the narrow Wakhan Corridor.
Most of Tajikistan s population belongs to the Persian speaking Tajik ethnic group, who share
language, culture and history with Afghanistan and Iran. Once part of the Samanid Empire, Tajikistan

Thus, in the pre Buddhist times (7th 6th century BCE), the parts of modern Tajikistan including
territories as far as Zeravshan valley in Sogdiana formed parts of ancient Kamboja and the Parama
Kamboja kingdoms when it was ruled by the Kambojas till it became part of Persian Achaemenid
Empire. After the Persian
Empire was defeated by Alexander the Great, the region became the northern part of Hellenistic Greco
Bactrian Kingdom. From the last quarter of 4th century BCE until the first quarter of the 2nd century
BCE, it was part of the Bactrian Empire, from whom it was passed on to Scythian Tukharas and hence
became part of Tukharistan. Contact with the Chinese Han Dynasty was made in the 2nd century
BCE, when envoys were sent to the area of Bactria to explore regions west of China.
Arabs brought Islam in the 7th century CE[citation needed], more or less forcing the people to
convert. The Samanid Empire supplanted the Arabs and enlarged the cities of Samarkand and
Bukhara, which became the cultural centers of Tajiks (both of which are now in Uzbekistan). The
Mongols would later take partial control of Central Asia, and later the land that today comprises
Tajikistan became a part of the Emirate of Bukhara. A small community of Jews, displaced from the
Middle East after the Babylonian captivity, migrated to the region and settled there after 600 BCE,

School Environment And The Classroom Environment
Do you remember ever as a kid dreading going to school? Somedays you just really didn t feel like it,
but you had to anyway. Now, was it you didn t enjoy school whatsoever, or was it really the
environment they put you in at school? Well, kids today are facing those exact same problems each
day. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their day is a
place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school environment
that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling them they simply
do not want to work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage of students where that
really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false, and it is crucial we
emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to have their cell phones in
the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of homework kids are being
faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety and stress issues, and the
debate about extending the school which would push back students schedules causing the to get less
sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the morning. To begin, some students
and teachers are wishing to bring cell phones into the classroom more often. They are becoming rather
eager to have cell phones be the next step in transforming our classrooms into techonology

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thyroidectomy
In the past decade, there have been significant advances in thyroid surgery. The advent of energized
dissecting and cutting devices like the most known Harmonic scalpel relieved the surgeon of the
necessity of clamping and tying vessels.1,2 This facilitated the advent of mini invasive thyroid surgery
and next with the advent of the DA VINCI robot, the trans axillary robot assisted thyroidectomy
developed by CHUNG. This new approach has then become a well recognized adjunct of the
traditional open surgery described by Kocher.3
Although thyroid surgery is considered as a routinely safe procedure, complications in open thyroid
surgery is not uncommon. Hematoma, following open thyroid surgery, is a rare but potentially life
threatening complication, with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We propose to place the incision just ahead of the hairline in order to avoid any arterioles in fat tissue.
At the time of the incision closure, we suggest, just after releasing the robot retractor, to use the
manual retractors. And then release them gradually to uncover any hidden bleeding. This trick will
allow retracted vessels to be released and uncover their bleeding. It will decrease the risk of
hematomas postoperatively.
Concerning the drain, we always use vacuum drain (Blake type). We propose the location to be just
under the skin of the axilla to avoid injury of arterioles. This current study was conducted using a
single surgeon s database. We had access to patient admissions after discharge. In the study no patients
experienced this complication after discharge.
For the management of postoperative hematoma, we always start with the same approach using the
trans axillary incision. There is no life threatening emergency and most of the time (if not all of the
time) the bleeding is from the pectoral muscle. We also propose a plan to assess and manage
hematomas post trans axillary robot thyroid surgery. (Figure

The Growth Of Population Growth Essay
The present rate of population growth is one of the most significant environmental issues we as
humans are facing. The exponential growth at which the population is moving is having direct impacts
on climate, energy, poverty, food, the global economy, and politics (Why Population Matters). The
world population is currently 7.3 billion people and there is growing doubt that the planet is able to
sustain human needs and resource consumption (Population Concern). The expansion of human
population is impacting countries, societies, and cultures around the world differently. These
differences can occur due to, environmental, political, and societal factors that can determine the
severity of the issue and how the country decides to respond. The population is growing at exponential
rates and can be expressed by calculating the double time, which is the number of years it takes for
population size to double (Harper, Chapter 5). For developed countries, the calculated double time is
longer than that of a developing country (Harper, Chapter 5). The first case study under analysis is that
of Rwanda, one of the poorest nations in the world, which therefore has one of the lowest double time
growths (Harper, Chapter 5). Food scarcity and violence are the stories of Rwanda s fate and is
outlined in Jared Diamond s book, Collapse . The second case study being examined is China s human
population growth, which is not only negatively impacting its own country, but impacting others at a

Essay On Crime In Brazil
Brazil has some of the most violent cities in the world. The murder rate in Brazil has been going
through the roof each year. Some cities have a murder rate of 50 per 50,000 people. Most murder
victims are usually male, poor and teenagers. Most of these crimes take place in the infamous favelas
of Brazil. Murder is not the only crime leaking in the shallow streets of the favelas. High profile rape
cases, kidnapping, drugs, and weapons dealing in the favelas are the common headlines in Brazil
(Griffin, Jo). These crimes are born in the favelas and spread through the streets of Brazil. The
economic growth of Brazil over the years has benefited the rich puppeteers of the society, but it has
made life more miserable for the poor (McCann, Bryan). Not just in Rio, but favelas have spread
throughout many cities in Brazil and now they are the number one birthplace of different types of
crimes in the country. In this paper, we will analyze an article published on the online version of The
Guardians regarding the lives of people living in Brazilian slums (favelas). The article talks about the
life inside these favelas. For tourists, these slums may be seen as a place of unique interest, but to the
Brazilian people, these slums are the most dangerous places in the country. But the question arises that
why can t the government do anything about these slums. The article describes that these favelas are
so dangerous that even the Brazilian armed police are often scared to launch any

The Cotton Manufacture In Great Britain
English textile factories were very bad and unhealthy for the health of working class families. In the
book History of the Cotton Manufacture in Great Britain it says the children who labour in mills are
victims of frightful oppression and killing toil. They are often cruelly beaten by the spinners of the
overlookers that their feeble limbs become distorted by continual standing and stooping and they grow
up cripples. If indeed, they are not hurried into premature grave. This quote proves that they are being
treated badly. This quote also proves that they are unhealthy. Also accidents were very admitted to the
infirmary, though the children s hands and arms having been caught in the machinery in many
instances a finger or two might be lost. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

also shows that it is unhealthy because they are overworking him when he is tired. Even though they

Characteristics Of Beowulf
Beowulf: A True Christian Hero
A hero is someone who demonstrates acts of courage which is accompanied by a high moral character.
A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will of God and
demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most importantly
having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same name, presents all
these characteristics. Throughout the poem his character matures and ultimately becomes a better
leader, which makes these traits all the more present. Beowulf s quality of leadership and passion for
the well being of others truly defines a Christian hero. Exhibiting selflessness is a characteristics that
plays a great deal in how others perceive you. Beowulf was a type of leader that did not think twice
before helping those in need. In many cases he was willing to sacrifice himself for the better good of
his people, which is the ultimate act of selflessness. But in the very beginning, even before he was
king of his own land he exhibited his selfless nature. He did this by coming to the aid of Hrothgar, the
king of the Danes. The following excerpt, Beowulf kindness is revealed, When he heard about
Grendel, Hygelac thane was on home ground, over i Gretland. There was no one else like him alive. In
his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, highborn and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply
the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and seek out that king, the famous prince
who needed defenders. Nobody tried to keep him from going, no elder denied him,der as he was to
them. (Beowulf; lines 194 203). Beowulf went on to defeat of grendel and his mother, two monsters
ploughing Hrothgar and his people. This act gained him respect his selfless act blossomed into the
blessing of him one day becoming a king himself. Beowulf did not have to come to the aid of the king
but did so anyway. He, from the beginning, wanted to help anyone in need, no one could or would
stop him from accomplishing this goal. He sacrifice his life for the wellbeing of people who were in a
neighboring country, it goes to say that he would obviously seek to go beyond that for his own.

Essay On A Systems Approach
In today s economic and industrial environment, a systems approach to the design and operation of
manufacturing and supply is more important than ever. Do you agree with this statement, and why?
When a great idea is created, starting up the business isn t as easy as buying some real estate, hiring
some people, and telling them what to do. A systems approach to how the company is going to be
designed and operated must be created and constantly reanalyzed. A system is a design that takes in
inputs and produces outputs. To create a system, the first situation needs to be looked at and a purpose
or nature must be identified. Next, a list of everything that will be going into the pizza restaurant must
be created and labeled as inputs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that in todays economical and industrial environment, a systems approach is increasingly
important. A working system can help a company run smoothly and efficiently. An example of a
successful system is Walmart and their renowned supply chain system. A failed system is the reaction
to the Katrina disaster management which is still having a lasting effect along the Gulf coast.
Today, Walmart is a superstore empire with 11500 retail units in 28 counties and employs 2.3 million
workers. To reach this success, Walmart has mastered their supply chain management strategy and
system that has allowed them to cut costs and allow consumers to save money. One technique that
Walmart uses is to have fewer links in the supply chain. Walmart started working directly with the
manufactures to save money and be able to have more control over its supply chain. They used a
method called Vendor Managed Inventory which made manufactures responsible for managing
Walmart s orders and keeping them in stock from them inside Walmart s warehouse. [2] Walmart only
sought out strategic vendor partnerships. Walmart would only buy from suppliers who had the best
price and were in a position to meet demand. They then negotiated lower prices by offering to order
from them long term and to make high volume purchases. Walmart then created communication and
relationship networks with the suppliers which allowed

Anne Moody and the Black Panthers Essay
During the 1960s, many Black Americans drew attention to the inequalities among races in society.
Protest groups formed and demonstrations highlighting discrimination towards dark people were a
common practice for civil rights activists. Some activists believed non violence was the only way to
overcome, and others, such as Anne Moody and the Black Panthers, had a more aggressive attitude
towards gaining freedom. In her autobiography, The Coming of Age in Mississippi, Anne Moody
describes the hardships of growing up in the heavily racist South, and displays the price you pay daily
for being Black. (p.361) She grows tired of seeing her Black companions beaten, raped, murdered, and

In general, they felt that African Americans had been treated as second class citizens since the end of
the Civil War solely because they were Black. The Panthers developed a platform called the Ten Point
Program that described the changes they demanded to see in American society. They wanted a country
in which Black children are provided the same educational opportunities as White children, and
thought that Blacks could only progress by being taught the true history of Black oppression in the
U.S. They demanded that Black Americans have jobs that paid the same wages as Whites and weren t
limited to labor intensive positions. The party also felt that the police force instigated more conflict
and violence than protection, and believed they needed to provide security for Blacks by themselves.
Although they were known for using gun power when necessary, the Panthers envisioned a peaceful
society under a just government where all races could live together. Simply put, the Black Panthers
felt the United States government was not allowing Black Americans to the live in the land of equal
opportunity, but rather denying them the freedoms and liberties constitutionally entitled to them. The
Black Panthers wanted African Americans to be able to determine their destiny.
Because the Black Panthers felt society and government were withholding African Americans from
social progress, they took some matters into their own hands. They promoted more just

Simon as Silent Prophet of Lord Of The Flies Essay
Simon as Silent Prophet of Lord Of The Flies
The role of the prophet changes with the society in which he lives. In Modern America, a prophet is a
visionary, telling his people what they can become; in Biblical times, a prophet was the voice of God,
telling his people what they had to become to fulfill their covenant with God. In William Golding s
Lord of the Flies, though, the prophet told his people nothing; he realized what they had already
become, and he dared not tell them because he knew they would turn against him. Simon lived in
knowledge and fear because his society denied the role of the prophet, and he did not fight it because
he wanted so much to be part of that society.

Simon, though he did not tell the other boys of his vision, was incapable of forgetting. He was the
observant character, the quiet philosopher. He was often alone, sometimes by his own choice, and he
liked to wander into the peaceful jungle. He sincerely cared about the other boys, sometimes helping
the young ones to fetch fruit, yet Simon turned away from them and went where the just perceptible
path led him. Soon high jungle closed in (56). He loved solitude and yet felt loneliness; he was alien to
the other boys. The boys did not think anyone would be stupid enough to go into the jungle by night:
The assembly grinned at the thought of going out into the darkness. Then Simon stood up and Ralph
looked at him in astonishment (85). Many of the boys even thought he was batty because he left the
group to spend time alone. He did not fear the jungle, and he did not fear the Beast. Maybe, he said
hesitantly, maybe there is a beast. . . . maybe it s only us (89).
The Beast takes many forms in the boys imaginations; once, they saw a strange shape moving at the
top of a mountain, and they were afraid that it was the Beast. No one dared to go near it save Simon,
who went alone to the mountaintop during one of his sojourns; he discovered that the Beast was only a
dead parachuter whose gear shifted in the wind. Ironically, the dead man was a soldier, a symbol of the
savagery that was the true Beast. However, Simon s compassion

Violation Of Rights In Canada
The Canadian government takes the responsibility of providing a fair and just system into society. The
Charter summarizes every critical right and freedom a Canadian beholds, which includes, Legal,
Mobility, Equality, and Democratic Rights, also Freedoms of Association, Conscience and Religion,
Peaceful Assembly, and Thoughts Expression Speech Media, are all part of how governance by the
federal government creates order in our society. If a rule or law infringes on the individual
fundamental freedoms or rights, it could be challenged and hopefully be justified. For instance, in the
case of the communication barrier, the government neglected the needs of interpreters for deaf people
and refused to pay for them. The British Columbia government infringed on the equality right of deaf
people by refusing to provide interpreters for people with communication disabilities, claiming it
would be a waste of taxpayers money. Robin Eldridge, (deaf person)needed interpreters for a doctor s

The Effect Of Western Culture
Article Summary This article is focused on the effects of western culture, particularly the modern
ideals of ultra thin bodies, on non western women. The author, Jaita Talukdar, decided to spend some
time in India in order to conduct research on the topic. During her stay, she discovered many different
things about these Indian women, including what motivates them to want to lose weight, their opinion
on the current standards of beauty in western culture, and how these ideals have become ingrained into
their culture. Talukdar touched base on the existing research by Suzanne Brenner regarding beauty
standards in non western cultures, such as the idea of an in between mindset the ability of a person to
actively participate in both traditional and modern worlds and alternative modernity which centers on
the internal conflict to apply modernity while still conforming to the rules of tradition (Talukdar 112).
These concepts were the starting point for her investigation, influencing the questions that she chose
to ask. Alternative modernity was what inspired her theory of speculative modernity, in which a
woman critiques both the traditional and modern ways before applying them to her life. Previous
researchers like Hesse Biber chose to focus on how the western pageant circuit and the beauty
industry brought these ideals into India, following the loosening of the strict traditions that came with
the globalization of the country in the twentieth century. However, these

Star Formation Research Paper
Stars
Introduction
Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be millions of times larger
than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building blocks of the
galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of heavy elements
like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early universe. Most of the
elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we are literally made of stardust.
When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually looking back in time, the light you
see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth, life and death of stars are the central
field of astronomy today.

black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are spinning at very high speeds and
come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will be slingshotted away from the bigger

when this happens the resulting black hole is known as a Binary Black Hole. The energy emitted from
the collision would be so great it would send ripples through the space time fabric of the Universe.

My Student Leader Interview, A University Of Toledo And...
For my student leader interview, I interviewed Cordaro (Cord) Murry H. He is a junior here at the
University of Toledo and someone I personally look up for multiple reasons. Cord gives off a vibe that
just says, Hey! I m a natural leader! It makes band flow easier when he gives instructions and it also
makes him much more approachable than the head director. Cord is what I imagine a leader who is
dedicated to their followers looks like.
Cord is highly involved in both the Rocket Marching Band and in his fraternity, Triangle. For the
Rocket Marching Band, Cord was a squad leader in the fall of 2015 and is now the Piccolo section
leader. As a squad leader, Cord ensured that those around him knew the marching drill so that practice
ran smoothly. He also assisted underclassmen with learning traditions about the Rocket Marching
Band. As the piccolo section leader, Cord gives advice and instructions to the help the piccolo section
get through practices and performances. He is also our voice and our connection to the drum majors
and directors. Cord gained his positions of leadership in the Rocket Marching band through an
application and an interview process with the directors. In his fraternity, Triangle, Cord has assumed
many positions throughout his time with the fraternity. Cord began his leadership journey for Triangle
as the treasurer during the spring and summer semesters of 2016. As treasurer, he collected dues, paid
bills, and set up fundraisers for the fraternity.

Freshman Seminar
It started out as required community service. Fifty hours of required community service for four years.
The odd times I helped out in my school s pre K led to an opportunity to volunteer in the after school
program for kids every weekday, and that became my plan for almost every day of my high school
career. In my first year of high school, I took a mandatory course called Freshman Seminar. Truthfully,
I don t remember much of it except for one moment sometime in December. That day, my teacher told
the class about a mom of five kids who attended our school and had suddenly died from an aneurysm.
My school is small, but I didn t recognize the name. I thought this news was sad but didn t consider
dwelling on it. In the next few days of the

Causes Of Crime Against Humanity
A crime against humanity is a crime that causes human suffering or death on a very large scale.
Genocide is an example of this. Genocide is the killing of large groups of people or ethnic groups.
There have been many cases of genocide s in the last hundreds of years and there are still some cases
of genocide presently happening in our world. Some example s of genocide or crimes against
humanity within the past 100 years consist of the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide s, and the Islamic
State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
First off, starting in 1939 was the Holocaust. Millions of Jews were killed off by the Nazi s, ran by
Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler had some bad experiences as a child and he blamed the Jewish peoples for
most of those. This made him gain a great hate for Jews and thought that the world would be a better
place with a master race made up of Aryan s. But not only did he want a master race, he wanted a lot
more land for his army and followers to live on. He did this by invading the Sudetenland, Poland to
make East Prussia part of mainland Germany, and remilitarized the Rhineland. This caused many
other countries anger, causing them the push back at Germany. This was the start of World War II. The
reason I bring up all of this information is to show the reasons for which other countries, such as USA,
Canada, Britain, Russia, France and many others responded to this situation in the ways that they did.
These other countries didn t like the mass genocide that Hitler was

Why I Want To Join The Football Team
Looking back to the days of my freshman year in high school, I recall vividly how I aspired to join the
football team but could not. I felt so bad but I did not back down, remembering all the great men of
this world who kept on trying until they achieved their goal, the likes of Thomas Edison, Albert
Einstein and so on. I made joining the football team my number one priority in high school.
My first year in high school ended without me achieving my goal and this only meant one thing to me,
I was not good enough . During the summer I found a football school very close to my house, I
quickly enrolled. Determined to get better I ensured I never missed a day of practice, making every
minute count.
Months went by, and summer came to an end. Feeling so excited and prepared I ran straight to school
and zoomed towards Coach Staggs s office, the assistant football coach as well as my world history
teacher. I told him that I would love to tryout for the football team, he granted my request but once

do the best for the team, and at the end of the Texans were victorious. Using this as a motivation I said

Essay About Music
The hole in the wall was teeming with teenagers and young adults, drenched in rain, and crowded
outside of Brooklyn s sealed off Baby s All Right . It was a rainy Saturday night and as soon as I
arrived at the address I knew I was at the right place. Baby s All Right is Williamsburg s venue for
underground and indie music, which also serves as a bar and restaurant; its stage and floor are situated
at the back. I joined the crowd and waited patiently in the downpour and just as the rain started to pour
even harder, they finally began to check tickets and let people funnel to the back. As I stepped in, a
wall of colorful lights behind the turntable greeted me. The lighting was an alluring, multicolored
silhouette of the objects on stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oliver hung out with two groups in high school, the nerds and the popular kids . With his nerdier
group, he would play video games and talk about superheroes and wrestlers. With his popular group,
he frequented parties and concerts. He describes himself as caught in the middle of two worlds . But,
the constant between these two worlds was his interest in punk rock, especially Green Day. His love of
bands such as Green Day and The Ramones, along with his parents musical influence, motivated his
decision to learn how to play the guitar. This launched his interest of becoming a musician.
Oliver enjoyed the guitar, but he also took a liking to the way hip hop beats sounded. Because of this
interest he started off making beats and rapping over a few of them, uploading these to his old
Soundcloud account. But, due to his insecurities, he ended up deleting most of his old work. His main
source of income at the time was from his work as a janitor, while his side job was as a guitarist for a
small time band. His time as a janitor was completely miserable. On top of that, he never truly enjoyed
being a guitarist, as he felt that his band mates weren t inspired to achieve anything greater than
making music solely as a hobby. Therefore, he decided to make a new Soundcloud where he would
frequently post beats, though he only rapped over a select few. Over time, he saw that his tracks on

Breast Cancer Report
1.Introduction
1.1 Introduction
Human epidermal growth factor (HER2) is a specialised protein that has the ability to control the
growth and spread of certain cancers. Breast cancer is defined as HER2 positive (HER2+) when there
is an extremely high level of HER2 receptors present within the cancerous tumour of the breast tissue
(Macmillan, 2013).
1.2 Aims and objectives
This report aims to give an overview on breast cancer focusing on the HER2+ sub type of the disease;
it includes an overview of aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis
and treatment. It will also include how the advances in stratified medicine have helped tailor treatment
for patients suffering from the HER2+ form of breast cancer.
2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breast cancer has been the most common cancer in the UK since 1997, in 2011 alone it was
accountable for 30% of all new cancer diagnosed in women (Cancer Research UK, 2014). Between 15
25% of newly diagnosed cases of breast cancer will test positive for the over expression of the HER2
protein (Macmillan, 2014). The incidence of breast cancer in Northern Ireland is close to the average
for developed countries (NI Cancer Registry, 2011). However for the past 20 years Northern Irelands
incidence has been the lowest in the UK (Cancer Research UK, 2014).
3. Pathophysiology
Like all cancers, breast cancer develops because of defects in the DNA of a single cell. Cancers arise
when there is an accumulation of genetic mutations within genes that control cell growth and division
or the repair of damaged DNA. This causes damage allowing cells to grow and divide uncontrollably
forming a tumour. These mutations are called somatic mutations and are not inherited (GHR, 2007) In
addition to these genetic changes researchers have identified many other factors that increase the risk
of developing of breast cancer, these were previously mentioned.
4. Clinical Presentation
The symptoms of breast cancer can be categorised into early stage

Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper
The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices are
placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. There can
be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices. Therefore, I will be discussing
the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with when they are to be taken place.
As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A
personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with friends
to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead of going to
the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously, and it all can
go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging mobs all depending
on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. Now religious ... Show more content on

Furthermore, Abraham also had to give up his son. He and his wife Sarah had given out hope of

Narrative Essay On A Winter Night
On a cold Winter night two people lay to sleep. So far away but that would never stop the dreaming

December 1,2003 Concord,Massachusetts Anna:
It s nighttime in Concord. I began to grow tired as the time progresses to 10:30 pm. I go up the stairs
leading to my room not knowing what is to come in this night slumber. I can only imagine what I
might dream. As I lay on my soft bedding cuddling up to my warm fuzzy blanket I began to doze off.
Just before I finally fall asleep I hear the train blow its whistle down the road from my house.
Dream Land: Where everyone s dreams come together. You tend to see people wandering around
aimlessly. In my dream I m jumping around from cloud to cloud tasting the water from them as I
jump. Flying in between. I continue for a few more minutes. I get tired from jumping so I decided to
fall from the clouds. I jumped from the clouds so that I could watch the twinkling stars. As I jump and
fall I m then greeted with a hard landing. I look to see what I landed on and it just so happened to be a
boy. I jump up surprised that I didn t squish him from how far I fell. I m sorry I didn t mean to land on

It s alright, it didn t hurt too much it just took me by surprise, the mysteries boy said.

The Current State Of Health Care System Essay
Introduction The current state of United States health care system is one of the most polarizing
subjects of debate among scholars and other health care professionals across the globe. This can be
attributed to the fact that at one extreme end, there are some who argue that that Americans have the
best system of health care in the world (MePhee, 2013). Perhaps the availability of the state of the art
facilities and free medical technology that have become highly symbolic of the various industries in
the United States have motivated the idea of the country s health care system being unparalleled to
others. However, there is a common belief that the fight for universal health care can only be
successful if its current state of health care is described as a failure in the modern era as emphasized
by MePhee (2013). As a matter of fact Wise and Yashiro, 2006 assert that there some individuals who
describe the America s system as being fragmented and inefficient, considering the staggering
statistics regarding how Americans spend more on health care compared to other countries in the
world. Additionally, they suffer from massive insurance costs and uneven quality of care, and thus
understanding the debate about the two diametrically opposed viewpoints requires an in depth
understanding of the current health care issues in the United States (Rashidian, Joudaki, Vian,
Baradaran, 2012). Essentially, this paper will identify one common health care issue, particularly

The Black And Burgundy Made Me Essay
I never thought that my nails were going to draw too much attention. I was enjoying how the nail
polish looked on my hands, it was an exciting change. The combination of black and burgundy made
me feel powerful, reckless, and confident because I was subverting and redefining social norms. I felt
like a man, but the rest of society saw me differently. In our society nail polish is for women. Painting
nails is a beauty practice that embraces femininity and womanhood. My nails cast an instantaneous
label on myself. Many individuals questioned my sexuality and gender. It was like my masculinity
was endangered by the colors of my nails and I was no longer considered a man anymore. Why do
you paint your nails? Are you gay? Is it a new trend? Wait, what is that on your nails? , I was a threat
to what society defines as a man, therefore people were desperate to define the purpose of my painted
nails. The interference of sex and gender norms causes disruption to social order and people seem to
be determine to redefine, correct or erase the variation.
Every characteristic of an individual s life is determined by their genitals. Why is gender attribution so
meaningful to social order and why does the inability to classify someone sex s cause such a major
disruption? (Preves, 2004:13). Gender classification starts from birth, when a baby is identified as a
boy or girl. The reveal of the child s gender designates their future. Their social interactions, gender

The Department And The City Council
In 2015, the department and the city council did a survey to see if the department had enough
personnel. The study looked at many things such as the amount of calls for service, a number of
officers working each shift, and the schedule the officers were working. In reality, the survey was a
gamble for the department because it could come back in a positive way, finding that we should hire
more officers. Another outcome would be that we were overstaffed meaning we would lose positions.
The final outcome could be that we were adequately staffed and nothing should change. After several
months, the study determined that we had enough personnel, but the officers were working a ten hour
shift that was consuming too many officers. The study recommended that the department goes to
either an eight or ten hour shift. The department took the survey s recommendations and changed all
officers to an eight hour shift. This was very unpopular with the officers and the chief took an
enormous hit on this, but he knew he was doing the best thing for the department. I think we all knew
that the ten hour shifts were not necessarily the most productive shift for the department and it was
really only being allowed to keep morale up. After working with the legislature, the department was
able to change the state s labor law allowing the work week to be considered over two weeks. By
doing this, the officers could work more than 40 hours one week and less than 40 hours the next as

How Salad Makes You Fat Analysis
Can anyone really make a truly logical and well thought out decision? In the discussions about
decision making, it is controversial whether taking time to make a well thought out decision is worth
the extra effort or is it just a waste of time. Our brains give us the ability to think unconsciously, which
prohibits us from having the ability to make logical, well thought out decisions, especially in a short
period of time. Some people believe that in a long period of time logical and well thought out
decisions can be made, but our decisions have still shown to be considerably similar to our instant
decisions. We can rarely overpower our unconscious beliefs and decisions because of our tendency to
thinslice, make unconscious judgements, and allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we are emotionally attached to something, we tend to make extreme decisions towards or about
them. One example of this is our emotional attachments to our body shape and looks. In How salad
makes you Fat, Alex Hutchinson responds that people who want to lose weight tend to reward
themselves after a workout as a way to balance it out (Hutchinson). Although, many do believe that if
you put your mind to it, you can refrain from the balancing. This decision is unquestionably illogical
from our point of view but people make that decision unconsciously. They believe that they have
worked for the reward. We take this action immediately when one decision swings too far from self
concept (Hutchinson). Self concept is what we are accumulated to in our daily lives. I corroborate
with the author s view in the stance that hard work does push for a reward. The reward although, isn t
usually a good choice. Instead of a fruit smoothie or a sandwich, they tend to choose food items in the
genre of candy and sweets. Another way that emotional attachments affect snap decisions is in
criminal murder cases. Usually, murder cases are deeply personal and paramount to the convict. This
deeply personal relation causes snap decisions to be made that we can not control. Our emotions get
the best of our sub conscious mind and make the decisions for us. This is exceptionally dangerous
especially because it can not be consciously controlled. I have noticed this same experience
throughout the news and various crime shows. When something or someone personally affects you,
your decisions will also be drastically affected. Emotions are overly powerful and usually can not be
changed. Although, some do believe that emotions can be changed if a drastic event occurs, our split
decisions regarding our emotions will most likely be the same whether we

The Balance Of Power
11. What is balance of power ? The balance of power was a concept or idea in the eighteenth century.
By the eighteenth century, the European method of self governing independent states was established
greatly in the idea of self interest. Since international connections were based on deliberation of
power, the eighteenth century concept of a balance of power was grounded on how to counterbalance
the power of one state by another one to stop anyone s power from controlling over the others.
However, this balance of power did not indicate a wish for peace. Huge armies were created to protect
a state s security were sometimes even used for offensive motives as well. 12. Who were Austria s

We learned tissue homeostasis is a balance between cell division, specialization, and turnover time.
Normal cells have a plethora of specialized cells and with proliferation there tends to be a loss of
specialized function. Her interest in stem cells came with some problems. First, all cells come from
other cells. Secondly, specialized cells tend to divide very infrequently. Therefore, she began studying
the germline cells of fruit flies because the cell cycle is very similar to humans. She wanted to study
stem signals and their complex connections to determine the cell fate. Such as in the Drosophila

nurse cells that monitor the egg. The fate of these cells is predetermined by genes and were illustrated

The Patriarchs were the forefathers of the Jews, first was Abraham, followed by his son Isaac, his
grandson Jacob, and Jacob s 12 sons from whom the 12 tribes of Israel originate (Wilkinson 76). The
story of Abraham is that he came from Mesopotamia at some point within the 2nd millennium BCE
because God had made a covenant, or agreement with him that he would be faithful to the people of
Israel, who must serve him and obey his laws. Abraham settled in the land later known as Israel and
during his time he wondered how God s promise could be fulfilled. Abraham was a man of great faith
and obedience to the will of God, so when Abrahams son Isaac was born God asked Abraham to
sacrifice his one and only son, in the moment when Abraham was going to kill his son, God
interrupted and told him to kill a ram instead. Later the Jews spent years in exile as slaves in Egypt,

Mary Oliver s Family Tree
Though I concede that the reason for the tree to be preserved is because it is a symbol of the narrator s
family tree, I insist the meaning transcends that, the poem isn t just about how the tree represents
family and the narrator s willingness to do anything to keep it, but about how holding on too tightly to
your history, to your past, can hurt your future. This is a poem about being afraid of change, and about
how holding on too tightly a relic of your past, will come to hurt you in the long run.
The tree is cast in multiple negative connotations, especially through the first fifteen lines. The tree is

considered beneficial to the narrator s family, so why does the author hold on? Document 2 has
something to say on the subject: Oliver would rather prefer to see herself in a worse position in terms
of monetary status and her own material possessions than see the tree removed. In a sense, she places

that this was not simply out of a misguided love for the tree but also done in fear of change. If Oliver
had gotten rid of the tree she would ve destroyed something significant tying her to her roots, and
without the tree to remind her of where she came from, she might ve been able to move forward with

The Common Endocrine System Malignancy
The most common endocrine system malignancy in the Unites States is thyroid cancer. The majority
of diagnosed thyroid cancers are classified as differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). More specifically,
these cancers are either papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) or follicular thyroid cancers (FTC), with 80.2%

to SPECT imaging having rates of 45%, 89%, and 78%. With the combining of SPECT/CT,

As 10TV stated, When you were 10 or 11, you probably didn t give much thought to body image. Today, kids that age are worried more about looking like Barbie than playing Barbie. Girls are punishing themselves with cutting, going on extreme diets, and often kill themselves because they hate themselves. Girls are also seen wearing makeup at a young age to improve their facial features and think they will now finally be accepted in society as being perfect. A recent Mintel survey showed that six out of ten seven year olds wear lipstick, and two in five use eyeshadows. ( Pretty Pressure: Girls it pays to be pretty, but not too pretty. ) So even though social media is showing off beautiful women to give good advertisement, girls are being affected by constantly feeling down and wanting to fit into society and be accepted and seen as perfect, they hate themselves for not being pretty enough as celebrities that have gone through many surgeries to get that perfect image, and some cases have led to issues such as depression, cutting, eating problem, and ... Author Sylvia Plath uses the character of Esther Greenwood and figurative language to portray the disarming role of society in the 1950s. The Bell Jar revolves around Esther who is a wonderful student and an aspiring poet. She clearly struggles with societies expectations which tell her to be both educated and a homemaker. The dichotomies of her society leave Esther bitter and unable to decide a future for herself. Esther thinks to herself, I felt like a racehorse in a world without racetracks or a champion college footballer suddenly confronted by Wall Street and a business suit, his days of glory shrunk to a little gold cup on his mantel with a date engraved on it like the date on a tombstone . The imagery is astounding and morbid at the same time. The references to helplessness and death are evident as Esther feels herself pushed and pulled in many directions, all that do not have any basis. Her future lies in her getting good grades, going to a good college, but not to pursue her dream as a poet, something she excels in, but rather to find a good man and discard her years of effort in order to please him. This all leads to the fig tree which symbolizes all of the potential Esther has as a woman. She can pick whichever path she wants, a wife an editor and explorer, yet I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn t make up my mind which of the figs I would choose . Esther is so torn between the wants of society and those of her own that she is unable to decide. Now, was it you didn t enjoy school whatsoever, or was it really the environment they put you in at school? Well, kids today are facing those exact same problems each day. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their day is a place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school environment that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling them they simply do not want to work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage of students where that really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false, and it is crucial we emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to have their cell phones in the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of homework kids are being faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety and stress issues, and the debate about extending the school which would push back students schedules causing the to get less sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the morning. This trick will allow retracted vessels to be released and uncover their bleeding. It will decrease the risk of hematomas postoperatively. The exponential growth at which the population is moving is having direct impacts on climate, energy, poverty, food, the global economy, and politics (Why Population Matters). The world population is currently 7.3 billion people and there is growing doubt that the planet is able to sustain human needs and resource consumption (Population Concern). The expansion of human population is impacting countries, societies, and cultures around the world differently. These differences can occur due to, environmental, political, and societal factors that can determine the severity of the issue and how the country decides to respond. The population is growing at exponential rates and can be expressed by calculating the double time, which is the number of years it takes for population size to double (Harper, Chapter 5). For developed countries, the calculated double time is longer than that of a developing country (Harper, Chapter 5). The first case study under analysis is that of Rwanda, one of the poorest nations in the world, which therefore has one of the lowest double time growths (Harper, Chapter 5). Food scarcity and violence are the stories of Rwanda s fate and is outlined in Jared Diamond s book, Collapse . A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will of God and demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most importantly having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same name, presents all these characteristics. One technique that Walmart uses is to have fewer links in the supply chain. Walmart started working directly with the manufactures to save money and be able to have more control over its supply chain. They used a method called Vendor Managed Inventory which made manufactures responsible for managing Walmart s orders and keeping them in stock from them inside Walmart s warehouse. During her stay, she discovered many different things about these Indian women, including what motivates them to want to lose weight, their opinion on the current standards of beauty in western culture, and how these ideals have become ingrained into their culture. It was a rainy Saturday night and as soon as I arrived at the address I knew I was at the right place. Baby s All Right is Williamsburg s venue for underground and indie music, which also serves as a bar and restaurant; its stage and floor are situated at the back. I joined the crowd and waited patiently in the downpour and just as the rain started to pour even harder, they finally began to check tickets and let people funnel to the back. But, the constant between these two worlds was his interest in punk rock, especially Green Day. His love of bands such as Green Day and The Ramones, along with his parents musical influence, motivated his decision to learn how to play the guitar. This launched his interest of becoming a musician. Oliver enjoyed the guitar, but he also took a liking to the way hip hop beats sounded. Because of this interest he started off making beats and rapping over a few of them, uploading these to his old Soundcloud account. But, due to his insecurities, he ended up deleting most of his old work. His main source of income at the time was from his work as a janitor, while his side job was as a guitarist for a small time band. His time as a janitor was completely miserable. On top of that, he never truly enjoyed being a guitarist, as he felt that his band mates weren t inspired to achieve anything greater than making music solely as a hobby. Therefore, he decided to make a new Soundcloud where he would frequently post beats, though he only rapped over a select few. Over time, he saw that his tracks on Soundcloud were beginning to ... Breast cancer is defined as HER2 positive (HER2+) when there is an extremely high level of HER2 receptors present within the cancerous tumour of the breast tissue (Macmillan, 2013). 1.2 Aims and objectives This report aims to give an overview on breast cancer focusing on the HER2+ sub type of the disease; it includes an overview of aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment. It will also include how the advances in stratified medicine have helped tailor treatment for patients suffering from the HER2+ form of breast cancer. 2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However for the past 20 years Northern Irelands incidence has been the lowest in the UK (Cancer Research UK, 2014). 3. Pathophysiology Like all cancers, breast cancer develops because of defects in the DNA of a single cell. Cancers arise when there is an accumulation of genetic mutations within genes that control cell growth and division or the repair of damaged DNA. This causes damage allowing cells to grow and divide uncontrollably forming a tumour. These mutations are called somatic mutations and are not inherited (GHR, 2007) In addition to these genetic changes researchers have identified many other factors that increase the risk of developing of breast cancer, these were previously mentioned. 4. • 27. Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices are placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. There can be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices. Therefore, I will be discussing the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with when they are to be taken place. As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with friends to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead of going to the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously, and it all can go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging mobs all depending on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. • 29. The Current State Of Health Care System Essay Introduction The current state of United States health care system is one of the most polarizing subjects of debate among scholars and other health care professionals across the globe. This can be attributed to the fact that at one extreme end, there are some who argue that that Americans have the best system of health care in the world (MePhee, 2013). Perhaps the availability of the state of the art facilities and free medical technology that have become highly symbolic of the various industries in the United States have motivated the idea of the country s health care system being unparalleled to others. However, there is a common belief that the fight for universal health care can only be successful if its current state of health care is described as a failure in the modern era as emphasized by MePhee (2013). As a matter of fact Wise and Yashiro, 2006 assert that there some individuals who describe the America s system as being fragmented and inefficient, considering the staggering statistics regarding how Americans spend more on health care compared to other countries in the world. Additionally, they suffer from massive insurance costs and uneven quality of care, and thus understanding the debate about the two diametrically opposed viewpoints requires an in depth understanding of the current health care issues in the United States (Rashidian, Joudaki, Vian, Baradaran, 2012). The combination of black and burgundy made me feel powerful, reckless, and confident because I was subverting and redefining social norms. I felt like a man, but the rest of society saw me differently. In our society nail polish is for women. Painting nails is a beauty practice that embraces femininity and womanhood. My nails cast an instantaneous label on myself. Many individuals questioned my sexuality and gender. It was like my masculinity was endangered by the colors of my nails and I was no longer considered a man anymore. Why do you paint your nails? Are you gay? Is it a new trend? Wait, what is that on your nails? , I was a threat to what society defines as a man, therefore people were desperate to define the purpose of my painted nails. The interference of sex and gender norms causes disruption to social order and people seem to be determine to redefine, correct or erase the variation. Why is gender attribution so meaningful to social order and why does the inability to classify someone sex s cause such a major disruption? (Preves, 2004:13). • 32. The Department And The City Council In 2015, the department and the city council did a survey to see if the department had enough personnel. The study looked at many things such as the amount of calls for service, a number of officers working each shift, and the schedule the officers were working. In reality, the survey was a gamble for the department because it could come back in a positive way, finding that we should hire more officers. Another outcome would be that we were overstaffed meaning we would lose positions. The final outcome could be that we were adequately staffed and nothing should change. After several months, the study determined that we had enough personnel, but the officers were working a ten hour shift that was consuming too many officers. The study recommended that the department goes to either an eight or ten hour shift. The department took the survey s recommendations and changed all officers to an eight hour shift. This was very unpopular with the officers and the chief took an enormous hit on this, but he knew he was doing the best thing for the department. I think we all knew that the ten hour shifts were not necessarily the most productive shift for the department and it was really only being allowed to keep morale up. After working with the legislature, the department was able to change the state s labor law allowing the work week to be considered over two weeks. In the discussions about decision making, it is controversial whether taking time to make a well thought out decision is worth the extra effort or is it just a waste of time. Our brains give us the ability to think unconsciously, which prohibits us from having the ability to make logical, well thought out decisions, especially in a short period of time. Some people believe that in a long period of time logical and well thought out decisions can be made, but our decisions have still shown to be considerably similar to our instant decisions. When we are emotionally attached to something, we tend to make extreme decisions towards or about them. One example of this is our emotional attachments to our body shape and looks. In How salad makes you Fat, Alex Hutchinson responds that people who want to lose weight tend to reward themselves after a workout as a way to balance it out (Hutchinson). Although, many do believe that if you put your mind to it, you can refrain from the balancing. This decision is unquestionably illogical from our point of view but people make that decision unconsciously. They believe that they have worked for the reward. We take this action immediately when one decision swings too far from self concept (Hutchinson). Self concept is what we are accumulated to in our daily lives. I corroborate with the author s view in the stance that hard work does push for a reward. The reward although, isn t usually a good choice. Instead of a fruit smoothie or a sandwich, they tend to choose food items in the genre of candy and sweets. Another way that emotional attachments affect snap decisions is in criminal murder cases. Usually, murder cases are deeply personal and paramount to the convict. This deeply personal relation causes snap decisions to be made that we can not control. Our emotions get the best of our sub conscious mind and make the decisions for us. This is exceptionally dangerous especially because it can not be consciously controlled. I have noticed this same experience throughout the news and various crime shows. When something or someone personally affects you, your decisions will also be drastically affected. Emotions are overly powerful and usually can not be changed. Although, some do believe that emotions can be changed if a drastic event occurs, our split decisions regarding our emotions will most likely be the same whether we ... We learned tissue homeostasis is a balance between cell division, specialization, and turnover time. Normal cells have a plethora of specialized cells and with proliferation there tends to be a loss of specialized function. Her interest in stem cells came with some problems. First, all cells come from other cells. Secondly, specialized cells tend to divide very infrequently. Therefore, she began studying the germline cells of fruit flies because the cell cycle is very similar to humans. She wanted to study stem signals and their complex connections to determine the cell fate. Such as in the Drosophila uterine cells, there is a cluster of cells in which only one will become the final egg cell, the others are nurse cells that monitor the egg. The fate of these cells is predetermined by genes and were illustrated through immunofluorescence microscopy. Document 2 has something to say on the subject: Oliver would rather prefer to see herself in a worse position in terms of monetary status and her own material possessions than see the tree removed. In a sense, she places the tree s life and the importance of not besmirching the land that her fathers have worked on over her own life. (Document 2) Yes, she does place the tree over her own quality of life, but it could be argued that this was not simply out of a misguided love for the tree but also done in fear of change.
