Women s Treatment Of Women
Women s treatment has changed drastically throughout history. From times of severe incarceration
to the near equality of today, many valuable generalities can be drawn about societies from their
treatment of women. Elizabethan Great Britain, heading the way of the medieval Renaissance,
introduced previously unheard of customs of treating women. In Shakespeare s Othello, women
play integral roles in the outcome of the play yet are treated just as poorly, if not more so, than
the racially and socially oppressed Othello, the Moor of Venice . Shakespeare s antagonist, Iago,
takes advantage of the few female characters in his machinations to cause jealousy and rivalry
among the men for his personal gain. Throughout his exploitation of women, the reasons and
consequences of Iago s actions reveal how women were actually viewed and treated in
Elizabethan times. Iago s condescending view of women causes Iago to begin to manipulate
them. The root of his distrust is revealed to be buried in his suspicions that his wife slept with
Othello. I hate the Moor; / And it is thought abroad that twixt my sheets / Has done my office, I
know not if t be true; / Yet I, for mere suspicion in that kind, / Will do as if for surety (I.iii.392
396). Iago uses this vague thought as justification to treat his wife as if he had been cuckolded. To
further exemplify Iago s patronizing perspective of women, Iago, lies to Othello about the behavior
of Venetian women in regards to faithfulness. I

Competition between Dr. Who and Supernatural
In choosing between aliens and supernatural beings, the decision might be too difficult to make.
But when it comes to choosing between Doctor Who and Supernatural , Supernatural is the
better of the two. While both shows are good, Supernatural has more complexity of characters, a
better soundtrack, and presents conflicts better. To evaluate whether a show is worth losing my
social life, I like to take into consideration some factors of the show. The first and most important
criterion is the characters. A show s characters are supposed to be complex, not one dimensional
characters that only serve one purpose. Another criterion is if the soundtrack heightens the show s
enjoyability. A show needs to have a good soundtrack to enhance the show. The last criterion I use
to evaluate a tv series is the way the conflicts are presented. The conflicts are supposed to be
connected but not be repetitive; if they are too alike then the viewer will get bored. In Supernatural,
the characters are better developed than in Doctor Who; for example, Jo Harvelle. While in most
shows a girl like Jo would have been portrayed like someone who only thinks about boys, fashion,
and other girly things, Supernatural does not portrayed her like that. In Supernatural , Jo was first
introduced as a rebellious teenager who is always arguing with her mom, Ellen Harvelle, about her
future. But unlike other shows, Ellen and Jo do not argue about whom Jo marries; they argue about
whether Jo

Ukraine And The Russian Empire
Ukraine used to be known as Kievan Rus before renaming it in the 16th century. During the 9th
century, Kiev was the central focus politically and culturally in Eastern Europe. Keivan Rus
maximized it s intake of power in the 10th century due to the Mongol conquest in 1240, but not
before adopting Byzantine Christianity. Between the 13th and the 16th century, Kiev was
significantly influenced by Poland and Western Europe. In 1596, the negotiation of the Union of
Brest Litovsk dismembered the Ukrainians into Catholic faithful and Orthodox. When Ukraine had
asked for protection against Poland from the czar of Muscovy in 1654, the agreement, it gave the
interpretation to Moscow that it was an suggestion to take over Kiev, as a result absorbing into the
Russian Empire. In the 19th century, the region was rather largely agricultural, with few cities
centralized for learning and trade. The region was under the predominance of the Austro Hungarian
Empire on the far end of the west and the Russian Empire abroad. With a lack of self sufficiency,
many Ukrainian scholars and inspired writers were emboldened by Europe s cultivation. One of
those intellectual individuals, Taras Shevchenko, who s still known as a national hero in Ukraine
today, introduced the sophistication of the Ukrainian language and civilization to help revive
Ukraine s cultural traditions and reestablish the Ukrainian state. The unwieldy and incognizant
European transition of western Ukrainians had pervasive

The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin
In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, a woman receives the news about her husband s death.
The protagonist is Louise Mallard, she is at home with her sister. It seems that Mrs. Mallard is
never alone because of her heart trouble . Close relatives always try to take care and keep her
safe and healthy. People know about her health condition, but no one knows what is happening in
her mind and spirit, and no one knows that her heart trouble is not only physical but also
emotional. Louise has the opportunity, for the first time in her life, of living with freedom
because now the man who rules her life is gone. Louise Mallard is born again, and she starts a
short but glorious moment that gives her a true life sense and liberty, but then it is ended with the
presence of her husband who comes back to kill the new Louise.
Louise s first reaction after hearing the news is the key to understand her personality, and how she
is letting her emotions come out to give life to the new woman. Mrs. Mallard is very emotional
because she suddenly starts to cry, but she is not afraid as many women might be facing this
situation. According to Kate Chopin, When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to
her room alone. She would have no one follow her . Louise needs space and privacy to assimilate
what is happening. She does not want anybody follow her because it is the special moment that
she was waiting for. She was not waiting for her husband s death but her freedom, so it was

Magical Houses Made Of Bamboo Analysis
In the Ted Talk Magical Houses Made of Bamboo, the speaker (Elora Hardy) and her team work
hard to build these breathtaking homes out of bamboo. First, Hardy and her team harvest bamboo
for their homes. Not only does bamboo have the compressive strength of concrete, but it is also
extremely light compared to its size. The bamboo is transported to where the home is going to be
built. Secondly, since bamboo cannot last a lifetime on its own, the team adds borax which can
increase the bamboo s lifetime. Borax turns bamboo into a viable buildingmaterial. Then, Hardy
and her team make a 3D blueprint of the house that they are constructing. The team considers
everything when it comes down to details. After that, an experienced team of architects and
designers bend and change the shape of the bamboo to fit their needs for the actual house. The team
must use plenty of creativity to make their design truly astonishing. For example, in the video, To
reap the selective benefits and work within the constraints of this material, we have to really push
ourselves, and within the constraint, we have found space... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

strong material according to this quote. It is one sustainable material that people will not run out
of. Not only is bamboo strong and elegant, but it is also earthquake resistant. On the other hand,
unprotected bamboo will most likely be eaten to dust by insects. However, Hardy and her team
changed this. They change the bamboo by using a natural salt called borax. Borax turns bamboo
into a viable building material. If one treats the bamboo properly, it can last a full lifetime. Bamboo

Marketing Plan For A New Product
Whenever introducing a new product to a current market, an organization will need to prepare for
challenges they may face. For this reason, Kohler will need to be smart with our promotional and
advertising objectives when introducing Hygieia to the commercial and residential markets. Our
objectives will focus on building awareness, creating interest, providing information, stimulating
demand, and reinforcing the brand. Working with our big box retailers, we will need to work
closely with channel members and our salesforce to help with the execution of our promotional
objectives to be effective (CITE1).
Kohler being a well known faucet manufacture and distributor helps us to connect with current and
new customers. Our first objective building awareness, is a vital part to determine if the product
will be expanded to more stores outside of our test market. The first two months will be crucial,
especially when we need to present to The Home Depot and Lowes during our product line review,
to show the current sales performance. In this objective we will need to effectively reach out to our
customers though push promotional strategies to explain to our target customers the Hygieia value.
Our second objective will need to focus on providing information that can assist with customers in
the search stage when deciding to purchase a faucet for their home or business. With the Hygieia
being such a unique product to the market place it will have no competitors with the same dual soap

The Problem Of Homeless Women
Research shows the number of homelessness women have steadily increases over the past decade
.In the 1960s, only 3% of the homeless population were women and there was a perception that
homeless women were prostitutes as a result women need were not recognised by society (Marcus,
2014). However, the 1970s when homelessnessremerge as a political issues due to the increased
number of homeless it was harder for the society to ignore. Although most of homeless most were
still men, among them were younger single women, from impoverish background and from racial
minority (Smith and Gilford, see Fitzpatrick, Peter Kemp and Klinker, 2010). Moreover by 1980s
many more women were deinstitutionalized form mental health institutions without sufficient
housing or social support (Ravenhill, 2008) as a result of this the rate of women homelessness
escalated. Subsequently, during the period of 2005 to 2006 data out of the 164, 000 household
that were accepted as homeless, 39% contained pregnant woman or women with minor children.
This rate have risen significantly, in 2009 to 2010 an increase of 45% were female headed
household with their children and 12% were single women, and 19% were couples with dependent
children (Homeless Link, 2015),

David is a marble statue seen as a nude male and is 17 feet tall. The sculpture is in Florence Italy in
Galleria dell Accademia. This sculpture took Michelangelo three years to complete and was
finished in 1504. David is the first nude standing sculpture in a thousand years and is a symbol
of Florence. Michelangelo is thought to believe that he borrowed the idea from the Greek and
the Hellenistic Era to build a nude sculpture. David represents victory and a hero. As seen in the
sculpture, Michelangelo uses the technique of contrapposto that was used in Greek art and
Hellenistic art. David is putting more weight on one foot than another and that creates the twist
off with his hips and legs. The slingshot that David is holding represents a weapon that he used to
defeat Goliath. The whole story that comes with the sculpture is Goliath was seemed as
impossible to defeat but David comes around and defeats Goliath with a slingshot and beheads
him. The lines and the detail that Michelangelo put in represents the use of geometry/math.
Rather than being relaxed, David s face is tight and looks like he is ready for battle. His eyes are
looking at someone or something far away and ready for something to happen. Many people
compare Donatello s David to Michelangelo s David because they appear different but were
based on the same story. In Donatello s David, he is seen standing on top of Goliath s head and

Pine Barrens Research Papers
What is the Pine Barrens? The Pine Barrens is a region of land filled with wildlife, and many
important industries that contribute to everyday life. This miraculous area is found in New Jersey,
in the United States, and it covers 22% of the state. Lots of animals and many different varieties of
plants call this massive area home. Trees, such as the pitch pine, have adapted to the fire hazard
area by the way their appearance is. Many other animals and plants have also done the same to
adapt to this environment. This past May, I (along with my whole sixth grade), took a trip to
Camp Ockanickon and spent three days there in the cabins that were separated by boys and girls.

If you take a close look at this area, you ll find many other animal species and habitats that will
leave you speechless wondering how they could survive in a habitat. In fact, in the Pine Barrens,
there is a total of 39 species of mammals, 299 birds, 59 reptiles, and 91 fish that have been
spotted. All of these animals contribute to the ecosystem by participating in the food chain, and
even some individual animals help us as well. Bees suck in a type of liquid called nectar from a
flower blossom, and store it in what s known as the honey stomach, which differs from their food
stomach. Once they have a full load, they bring it back to their hive. Next time when you see a
bee flying around you, or near a flower, don t swat at it. Instead, watch and see how it collects the
pollen we use for honey. Worms are another example of animals that can be found in the Pine
Barrens that helps the ecosystem as well. They help aerate (which means to allow air into) the soil
so that the roots of plants can have access to better oxygen that they need in order to survive. All
around you in the Pine Barrens, you see tons of trees. You can thank a couple forgetful squirrels
for those. Each year, these squirrels carelessly drop acorns or stash their supply throughout yards
and forests of the Pine Barrens ecosystem. Eventually, those seeds will sprout into a tree that will
continue to grow and adapt to be part of the ecosystem over time. Nature relies on this process from
squirrels to continuously drop and stash more acorns to keep the growth of trees continuing, since
the acorns canВґt move on their own to be

Corruption And Relationship In The Masetto Of Boccaccio
Boccaccio was a very famous Italian writer and poet. One of his most famous pieces was the
Decameron. Although Boccaccio was a correspondent of Petrarch, their works are very
different. Both Petrarch and Boccaccio spoke about lovers, but in every different ways. For
Petrarch, a lover is the one who is loved, regardless of how it turns out. It is someone you have a
spiritual attachment with. On the contrary, lover for Boccaccio is someone you have a physical
connection with. He describes lover as someone to mess around with. These views of love,
along with the theme of corruption, are reoccurring in Boccaccio s writings. According to
Boccaccio, all people are corrupt. He shows this in multiple ways in The Decameron. I found the
story of the Masetto of Lamporecchio really interesting. This is the story of a man who wanted
to prove himself to others. Masetto noticed there were a group of nuns who needed a gardener
and thought that he would be an ideal man for the job. Masetto knew it would be hard to get
hired for a job around nuns, so he decided to act deaf and mute. This plan of his works perfectly
and he was hired as a gardener. When some of the younger nuns noticed that Masetto was a good
looking man, they considered having their way with him. The nuns had only heard about the
pleasures and wanted to experience for themselves. They thought this mute gardener would be the
perfect person to try these pleasurable experiences on, because he would not be able to tell anyone

The largest portion of the population of the city of Pompeii is comprised of preternatural humans.
After humans, apeiron are the most numerous. Many humans in Pompeii have been changed by the

fire.
Mundane humans are outnumbered in Pompeii, and not a single member of the Council or
Listeners is a mundane. Mundanes make the best mage hunters, and on numerous occasions,
condottiere companies made up of mundanes have been hired by the Pompeii authorities to deal
with enemy mages. This has earned mundanes a fearsome reputation, but also garnered them a sort
of begrudging respect.
One quirk of having such a high population of apeiron is a consequence of their psychic
connection. News tends to travel very fast when dealing with the apeiron, since their telepathy
allows for information to with haste be transmitted from one mind to the next. Due to this, there
are networks of apeiron being established to specifically take advantage of this ability. This can be

differences were that The Hubble Space Telescopewas orbiting and space while The ALMA was a

Hubble Space Telescope makes a complete orbit, 353 miles above the surface, around the Earth in

one location using the earth s own rotation to see different areas into space. Of course, one would
think that a space telescope would be better the a ground based telescope but they would be wrong.
In further research, I found that both telescopes are reflecting telescopes using a large mirrors to
bounce wavelengths to the center of the telescope and then into instruments the sends the
information to certain instruments that makes images. Also, The ALMA has a clarity that is ten
times sharper than The Hubble Space Telescope. Indeed showing its strength as a ground based

However, in terms of making the equation fit threats that are under other categories, we learn that
the risk assessment has been under construction for many years. Risk = T Г—V Г—C is not an
adequate calculation tool for estimating risk in the terrorism domain, for which independence of
threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences does not typically hold and feedbacks exist, (The

it is feasible to make an estimate on the provisional anticipation distributions for the T, V, and C in

The Industry Leaders Of The Non Alcoholic Beverage Market
The age of carbonated soft drinks, or as we know it in Canada as pop, all began in 17674, when
Dr. Joseph Priestley (1733 1804)3, created the first drinkable man made glass of carbonated
water. Born from Dr. Joseph Priestley original creation, are two corporate giants, Coca Cola
Company and PepsiCo Inc., which have grown to become household names across the world.
Throughout this report, we will be exploring the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat
for each of these publically traded companies. We will further compare and analyse the financial
performance of these two industry leaders of the non alcoholic beverage market.
Background:Coca Cola Company According to King, M., M., (1986), In the early 1880 s, Dr.

Essay on Technology Advancement and The Music Industry
Dust Off Your Vinyls, We re Going Back In Time
Music is a part of life for every culture and every generation. From just about the start of mankind
we have made music and with every technological advancement, we have evolved the way music is
heard, made, and distributed. Within the last couple decades I have witnessed the music industry
change drastically from cassette tapes to digital mp3s. What caused this dramatic evolution of music
? What are the effects on the industry itself, and the consumers like you?
Music has taken new forms many times in it s history. Not only in sound, but shape. According to
Dr. Tom McCort, who has a Ph. D and teaches at the University of Texas, the term album comes
from the 78 rpm discs that only had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this was a incredible new way to share music and was a non profit service, it brought
up legal issues with recording companies. The content exchanged was under copyright laws and
was being illegally shared. The sales of music were being threatened, and Napster was brought to
court. Napster wasn t in the safe zone of the law with sharing these files, because they were not
considered fair use, and was shut down. (Crews, 5)
In the article Music Industry Sales Rise, and Digital Music Revenue Gets the Credit, Eric
Pfanner, who is the London Bureau Chief of the International Herald Tribune, states that back in
1999 at the peak of the music industry, sales were at $38 billion in revenue. Last year, the
number was more that half that at a low $16.5 billion. That may sound horrible, but it actually
was the first time sales rose in nearly two decades. (Pfanner, 1) But my question is why? What
changed in the last year compared to the last fifteen? Well, the concept of being able to get music
directly from the internet to your computer was not only convenient for consumers, but also the

Chris Tomlin s Amazing Grace
You may have heard Amazing Grace in church before but never really thought about the song
and the meaning. Amazing Grace is probably the most common Christian hymn. It was written
by John Newton after his conversion to Christianity in 1776. In 2008, Chris Tomlin put a small
twist on the hymn and wrote the version of the song called My Chains Are Gone. I m going to
play the refrain that he added in for you. (30 seconds of song.) Other than that refrain, Tomlin
preserved the original poetry of the song that was written so long ago by Newton. Tomlin also
found the original final verse that had been changed years after Newton wrote the poem. The
original final verse read, The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbare to shine. But
God who called me here below will be forever mine. It was later changed to When we ve been there
ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song implies that God s grace cannot be earned, but it is a gift from God himself to all of
humanity. Tomlin s refrain alluded to when Newton, the original writer of the song, was a slave
prior to writing the piece. Grace Ekis, a friend of mine, died in 2008 at the age of 5 from an
extremely rare and fatal brain tumor called DIPG. This was the same year My Chains Are Gone
was written. DIPG is a brain tumor found on the pons of the brainstem. It is completely
inoperable because of the way the tumor is dispersed. Instead of being a mass that would be
somewhat easy to remove, DIPG is cancer cells mixed in with healthy cells. There is no possible
way to remove the pons because it is responsible for many functions of human life (i.e. breathing).

Electronic Conveyancing ( E Conveyancing )
Electronic conveyancing (e conveyancing) was born as an inspired idea of the Land Registry
back in the early 2000s. Prior to that, with the ever increasing presence of technology in our day
to day lives, as well as business dealings, paper based Land Registry details had begun to be
computerised. Almost all registered titles of land had been entered on to a computer based
system by roughly the year 1995. There was a basic, rather rudimentary, usage of computer
systems. A system of direct access to a computerised register was introduced in 1995, called the
Land Registry Direct. (One of the tasks that were thus enabled, for example, was being able to
notify the registry of a discharge of a registered charge, or applications to a register.)... Show more

The Land Registry came to the conclusion of employing a comprehensive system of e
conveyancing. The report produced a detailed outline of the anticipated model of e conveyancing.
The problems of paper based conveyancing as several. England s traditional conveyance system
stands upon multitudes of paper documents and a heavy reliance on the standard mail. Both parties
to the the transaction, buyers and sellers, are subject to many possible problems within the
conveyancing process. A primary concern is the registration gap. This is the time between the
transfer of drawn up and agreed up contracts and the actual registration of the property unto the new
owner. Particular issues with the registration gap is the fact that in any transaction there are too
many parties involved, length of transaction is too long and the transparency/opaqueness is
questionable/questioned. One of the original few problems identified within the previous system
by the LR was the issue of overriding interests. These are third party interests that continue to bind
the estate and are enforceable against the purchaser, while not appearing on the register at all. This
makes it impossible to fully rely on the register, as it produces an actual risk to the purchaser. The
inevitable solution is to still do the investigation (enquiries and inspection). The LR

Egoism In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
Egoism. In many occasions in today s world, egoism is frowned upon. However, to Prometheus
in Ayn Rand s Anthem, the word ego is holy. Although egoism is not approved of in the society
we live in, it is not an unacceptable doing for Prometheus to call holy. Howard Roark, one of Ayn
Rand s characters in The Fountainhead, voiced similar opinions in his speech, The Soul of an
Individualist. Egoismis simply valuing one s own work and ideas, so Prometheus is certainly and
egoist, but egoism can be great in moderation. According to Howard Roark s speech, The Soul of
an Individualist, To think, to feel, to judge, to act are functions of the ego. This quote shows that
ego is an integral part of being human, because all people, individuals or collectivists, think, feel,

When egoism is too strong, the person who is so egotistical can become rude, arrogant, and

moderation, egoism can be fantastically useful for thinking about and developing new things.
In Roark s speech, The Soul of an Individualist, Roark states that No creator was prompted by a
desire to serve his brothers, for his brothers rejected the gift he offered and that gift destroyed the
slothful routine of their lives. His truth was his only motive. Because the creator s truth was his

America Needs to Invest the Social Security Trust Fund
Our nation ensures social welfare through Social Security. However, the United States cannot
ensure the welfare of its own welfare system. To save Social Security, Americans in general do not
favor an increase in the payroll tax, a cut in benefits or an increase in the retirement age.
Furthermore, Americans are relying upon Social Security as their sole source of income at
increasingly alarming rates. Social Security is intended to supplement retiree income, not account
for 100% of it. Through elimination of the potential options, that leaves one necessary action: invest
the Social Security trust fund in the stock market.

their own investment savvy.
Investing the Social Security trust fund in the stock market only allows us, as beneficiaries and
future beneficiaries, the potential to receive benefits from a social welfare system that would
otherwise risk extinction, commonly known as bankruptcy.
Of course there is the issue of who would make the actual investments. Many people are
concerned that their Social Security money will be controlled by politicians who might have their
own special interests or political agendas. The President proposes that the money be invested in
broad based stock indexes similar to the Standard Poor s Index under the control of a private Social
Security Investment Board, as independent in theory as the Federal Reserve. Currently the Federal

asked to leave his position at the University. Firstly, there is the issue of the actual self which
according to Higgins would refer an accurate perspective on the individual. It is critical to
understand that Goddall is 102 years old and that staff and students have concerns about his

Dbq Black Death
In order to understand the significance the Black Death played in bringing about the decline in
population in the second half of the fourteenth century, a number of issues need to be considered.
To begin with, the Black Death s significance should be looked at, including its victims, the rural
and urban population, and recovery in the 1350s. Also, we have to look at the impact of later
plagues, and the age and gender specificity of them. However, we should also look at other factors
that affect the population, such as fertility and change in marriage trends. Given the particular
question we should also look at the pre plague population to get a better understanding of the
population in general. It is only by studying these issues that we can... Show more content on

The over population meant that more food had to be produced in order to sustain the population,
however, economic changes and changes in climate caused bad harvests and famine.
Unsurprisingly, there was a disproportionate rise of mortality among the village poor in times of
famine. Falling temperatures caused severe harvest failures between 1315 and 1322, with the
famine of 1315 to 1317 being called The Great Famine which is said to have killed 10 to 15% of
the population. With so many people living on the edge, the succession of bad harvests were
bound to have a catastrophic affect. A dearth of food encouraged the already high death rate and
also affected the birth rate as it discouraged fewer marriages and children, and we have already
seen the effects this had on the population after the plague. On the Winchester manors heriot
payers during the famine of 1315 to 1317 averaged at 142 annually, compared with 48 in the worst
years of the 1270s. Ieuan Gethin described the plague in Wales as being a rootless phantom which
has no mercy but the famines introduced an era of high mortality which lasted until the Black Death
, thus showing continuity in population decline. The Postan theory suggests that the plague did
not start the downturn, but the damage had already been done before the plague, and the failure
to repair the damage had been one of the causes for the delayed recovery. For instance the already
high death rates due to famine made the Black Death merely a catalyst to decline. However, the
trend is different all over the country, as Razi found for Halesowen. It is clear, however that famine
conditions in 1369 also helped to reduce the

The Ethics Of Clinical Research
A 35 year old man named Paul, who has a supportive wife and two adventurous kids, has been
diagnosed with a very severe case of bone cancer for 1 year now. Since this type of cancer is so
severe, chemotherapy is starting to not work as well. Paul s oncologist unfortunately had to
suggest a final option for Paul to try which was a clinical researchtrial. Clinical research trials are
experimental studies that deem whether or not a medical drug, treatment, surgery, or device is

This temptation happens when the research question, such as a cure for cancer, is extremely
important and the answer could save lives. If the investigators cared more about the scientific or
medical advancement than the well being of their participants, they would cross a line that
prohibits treating human subjects as a means to an end. When this line is crossed, there is little left
to protect patients from a callous disregard of their welfare for the sake of research goals. Informed
consent would not matter because of the unbalanced relationship between the knowledge and
authority among the researcher and the subject. Approval by an institutional board, although it is
important, can be subject to change in its responsiveness to patients interests when they conflict
with the welfares of the researchers. Going back to Paul s case, he agrees to enter a clinical trial
which was suggested by his oncologist. The study, that Paul has agreed to enter, has claimed that
this research team has created a new drug that may be on its way to cure cancer. Obviously to a
father and husband, this trial looks very appealing. However, the researchers knowingly form two
groups that will compare two treatments. What Paul doesn t know, is that one of the treatments is
better than the other. One group will receive this new drug and the other group will receive a
placebo. Comparing this new treatment

All through the Cold War the United States attempted to contain or squash developments that it saw
as dangers to American financial or security objectives, in Europe, in Asia, in different parts of the
alleged Third World, and at home. Communists, patriots, individual voyagers, neutralists, and
activists for popular government and human rights, at different times, felt American rage in the half

which revealed itself early on.
Both Robert Buzzano and Randall Woods present excellent interpretations of American foreign
policy in Vietnam. What we need to look at closely is the goals that are set by the U.S., as well as
their expected goals. When starting our comparison we are forced to realize that John F. Kennedy
and Lyndon B. Johnson had two very different approaches to Vietnam. Many attribute LBJ as the
reason we even went into Vietnam. However what remains is another instance of America trying to
protect the world from communism. Woods tells us that, Johnson was an unbelievably intelligent
person. His capacity to absorb information and analyze it was amazing. He was a very earthy and
profane man, but he also was very much a liberal Christian. This becomes a more popular argument
however that Wood expands on.
At the beginning of Wood s article, he states that LBJ s Christian ideology influenced how he
approached the conflict in South Vietnam. Since the United States stands for democracy, it was
imperative that LBJ follow JFK s lead of protecting the noncommunist Vietnamese. On the off
chance that LBJ didn t fight a

Melting Points Lab Report Essay
Melting Points

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this lab are, as follows; to understand what occurs at the molecular level when a
substance melts; to understand the primary purpose of melting point data; to demonstrate the
technique for obtaining the melting point of an organic substance; and to explain the effect of
impurities on the melting point of a substance. Through the experimentation of three substances,
tetracosane, 1 tetradecanol and a mixture of the two, observations can be made in reference to
melting point concerning polarity, molecular weight and purity of the substance. When comparing
the two substances, it is evident that heavy molecule weight of tetracosane allowed ... Show more

Once the range is obtained, remove the thermometer and beaker. Pour out the hot water and allow
both the thermometer and the beaker to cool. Once cool, repeat the previous steps with the second
compound, tetradecanol. At the conclusion of the second experiment, repeat the steps for a third
and final time using an equal mixture of both compounds. Be sure to record the melting point range
for all three experiments. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius
I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature
melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a
range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to
differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close
enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a
solo identifying property.
Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed
the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were
composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting

Following on from the advantages, it also comes with some disadvantages, the biggest being spam

The David Story, And The Iliad
In the books The David Story, and The Iliad the overall stories show us that history has evolved. In
which case, we read the differences between the human relationships toward their god(s). In The
David Story, David turns to Yahweh for advice, reassurance, and in some instances, a second
opinion, whereas in The Iliad, Achilles is overseen by the god of wisdom and military victory,
Athena. The relationships between the humans and their god have similarities but are also
significantly different.

Achilles had been struck down and needed the courage to go and fight. Athena is in favor of the
Greeks because she saw a part of herself in Achilles, and frankly because she hated the Trojans.
Fate bound the gods in Book 22 lines 190 209. As Achilles was face to face with Hector, Zeus
showed pity for Hector. In this scene, Zeus knew that Hector was destined to die. Zeus wanted to
save Hector, but was persuaded by Athena that it was Hector s time. Athena argued with him that
if he would step in and save Hector that many other gods would be upset with his actions. Not
only would the gods be angry, but death was Hector s fate, and the gods were bound to it. This is
an example of how fate outweighed what the gods wanted to happen. Zeus was wrestling with the
thought of saving Hector or allowing Hector to meet his fate.
Achilles and Athena s relationship seemed to be superficial. Although Athena seemed to care for
Achilles, her motive came from viewing parts of herself within him. The gods seemed to
intervene when the scene looked as if it needed a bit of excitement. For example, in Book 22,
Hector was being chased along the city wall by Achilles. Athena presented herself in the image of
Hector s brother, DeГЇphobus, to persuade Hector to stop running and fight with Achilles.

The Rules And Regulations On The Areas Of Global Wine...
This report is analysis of the rules and regulations in the areas of global wine industry. With the
emergence of New World players in the global wine industry has been lost a lot of Old World
market share (). Initially, France, Italy simply laughed processing technology of the new player,
such as U.S and Australia. However, it soon became apparent that the new traditional wine
production poses a serious threat to those traditional winemakers. The French in particular were
hurt when they began to lose its coveted in the world market share as British markets to Australian.
The main issues discussed in this report are what are similarities and differences in the ways
between the New World and Old World wine producer.

wine industry, New World challenges Old World and gradually takes the better position in the
market competition. The report recognizes the reasons given case specific analysis pleading wine.

Comparing Bill Condon s Beauty And The Beast
Given the ever enchanting character of animated Disney films, the idea of any of them being
adapted into live action has me salivating because the possibilities are endless. If drawn figures
can be so splendid, you can only imagine how they d be with any sense of actuality. I m a part of
the Little Mermaid Aladdin Lion King generation, so I was drooling worse than Beethoven the
dog when I heard Beauty The Beast was going to be done. My giddiness reached epic, Rave Un2
the Joy Fantastic proportions upon hearing the director was Bill Condon, who authored magic with
2006 s DreamGirls (which I raved about in a December anniversary article). It had been a while
since I was so eager to see a movie. Though I was far from let down and I ve been humming... Show

As with many things in life, it was the thing I d least expect it to be. Remember that sense of
actuality I mentioned? Well, in an ironic twist, the hard press for realism made the film feel
muted and unaffected for a great part of it. To make it believable that the Beast s staff had been
turned into household objects, their faces were more blended in. This eliminated the
expressiveness that gave LumiГЁre (Ewan McGregor) Co. so much fun personality. I instantly
became concerned about how the reported Lion King adaption would look, presuming the plan
was to use real animals. There were multiple, effective close ups on the Beast s eyes to capture a
sincere soul, but his whole picture lacked authentic communicative quality. This was something
better accomplished by the 1987 CBS television series starring The Terminator s Linda Hamilton.
Use of computer generated imagery (CGI) for this project was anticipated, and the effects were
beautiful, but the manufacturing was too apparent at times. Call me nit picky, but there was a
certain, breathing liveliness that wasn t successfully reproduced. Perhaps this why any scenes
with Gaston (Luke Evans) and LeFou (Josh Gad) were like a shot of caffeine and I didn t hate
them like I was supposed to. Both actors did an excellent job in general of making their characters
entertaining versus annoying,

Analysis Of Tattoos On The Heart
In his novel Tattoos on the Heart, author Father Gregory Boyle S.J. shares his experiences as a
pastor in the gang capital of the United States, Los Angeles, in an attempt to persuade his
readers to look at gang members with a more humane perspective. To help his readers relate to
the gang members, Fr. Boyle recounts personal anecdotes about the many gang members he
works with and their journeys towards changing their lives. Through his use of colloquial
language and informal diction and his narration of personal stories, Fr. Boyle creates an intimate
tone accomplishes his purpose of discrediting the stereotypes associated with gangs and
depicting a human face worthy of respect and sympathy. Though Boyle published this novel in
2010, his insight and wisdom on the state of gang violence still hold true today, and he continues
to inspire his readers to recognize the tragedies many gang members face in their everyday lives.
Determined to help his audience people who stereotype against and do not understand gang life
find commonalities with gang members, Fr. Boyle shares his experiences with gangs in Los
Angeles. At the beginning of the novel, Fr. Boyle articulates his thesis and expresses his purpose
for sharing his experiences when he states, Though this book does not concern itself with solving
the gang problem, it does aspire to broaden the parameters of our kinship. It hopes not only to put a
human face on the gang member, but to recognize our own wounds in the broken

Chg Dressings
Yet in another recent study by Duzkaya et al. (2016), the CHG dressings were compared with
the standard dressings using level II evidence in a RCT study. The study sample included 100
patients for a total of 100 CVCs in one pediatric ICU of a university hospital in Istanbul, Turkey.
The study findings considered CHG dressings effective in prevention of CRBSIs where the rate
of infection was 2% versus 10% in the standard dressings (Duzkaya et al., 2016). One study,
however, did not find a statistical significant difference while comparing the CHG dressings with
gauze and tape dressings for prevention of CRBSIs. Using level II evidence, Pedrolo et al. (2014)
conducted a RCT study that included a sample of 85 patients for a total of 85 CVCs... Show more

The evidence of the studies is very crucial and justifies the need to incorporate the proposed
intervention (using the CHG dressing) in the project. Purpose of the Study Extensive evidence
based research on interventions to reduce the risk of CLABSIs have shown a substantial
decrease in the rate of CLABSIs. One of the recommended guideline is the use of CHG dressings
for coverage of the CVC insertion site. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness
of the CHG dressings compared to the standard dressings in preventing the rate of CLABSIs.
The CHG dressings will be the study experimental intervention while the standard dressings will
be in the control group. Theoretical Framework Planning and implementing change can be
challenging, however, utilizing a process and change model such as the Stetler model (Stetler,
2001) can result in an achievement of the intended change. The Stetler model, was first
developed in 1976, refined in 1994, and last updated in 2001 and it addresses five phases that are
necessary for the change to be adopted in the system (Stetler, 2001). The first phase is preparation
and it involves isolating and affirming a need, identifying where the need will be applied, and
conducting a comprehensive search for evidence based research regarding that need. The second
phase is validation where the researched evidence is systematically critiqued and a synthesis

application of the concepts addressed in this course in the utilization of time and strength to
accomplish these goals.
Goals
Currently I am pursuing my ministry leadership degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in

Mcteague Character Analysis
Reverting Back to a Greedy Animal In the novel McTeague by Frank Norris, the author touches on
various themes throughout the novel. Many of the characters exhibit animalistic qualities,
greediness, and/or both. Characters are often compared to as animals, while others let their greed
overcome them. Some characters McTeagueand Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of
being. Of all the themes noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof
the characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage on page 323
of the novel. One of the main significance of the passage on page 323 is the mention of animalist
characters. For example, the main character, McTeague, is depicted as having a strange sixth
senses, that obscure brute instinct that was warning him of something that was about to happen
(Norris 323). A sixth sense is an inborn instinct that most animals have. It acts a warning that
something is about to happen or someone will appear. It is this instinct that causes McTeague
believe someone or something is coming for him and to flee from the mine. Also, McTeague is
often described as a brute, which is another term for a savage animal. The reference to a brute is
seen various times throughout the novel and describes the innate nature of McTeague. Frank Norris
depicts McTeague as a draft horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Draft horses
were often used for labor work similar to

Comparing The Etruscan Civilization Between C. 1000 And...
1.The Etruscan civilization flourished between c. 1000 and 100 B.C. also known as the Iron Age
(Villanovan) in Etruria or what is now known as modern day Tuscany, Italy. Etruria s southern
area was bordered by the Tiber River and its northern area was bordered by the Arno River in which
the areas were broken up into city states ruled by their own rulers.
2.The Apollo of Veiiis a 5ft. 10 in. painted sculpture molded out of terra cotta. This sculpture was
originally a decoration on the roof of a temple built by the Etruscans. Both the Greek and Etruscan
s style of art was similar, with that being said the particular sculpture is a resemblance of the
Greek Archaic style of art. The curvilinear style along with the flat surface patterns of the folds of
the drape/ clothes he was wearing, the diagonal calf muscles radiating from beneath the knee, the
smile, and the style in which the hair was made (long locks) are the same characteristics of Archaic
Greek art. The difference between the Etruscan and Greek art form lies in the clear and crisp
contours, forms and stylization, of Apollo s body along with the fact that he is depicted as striding
(showing fluid flowing movement). This is also what makes the sculpture of Apollo of Veii
realistic because the sculpture not only shows fluid motion (the position of his legs and his
stretched out arms) but also the expression that is on Apollo s face.

October 20, 2015
What Marine Scientist Wants a Ph.D. Anyway? At Coastal Carolina University (CCU) many
students take part in the Marine Science Undergraduate and Graduate programs. These two
successful programs have helped bring Coastal its first Doctoral program. The Ph.D. in Marine
Science is new at CCU and there is so much to learn about it. Questions of why Coastal was fit
for the program and how it differs from other schools programs like it are commonly asked. So
what all does this Ph.D. entail and how is Coastal influenced by it? When adding this program
CCU had to go through many different panels and accreditors to be approved for the Ph.D. The
university had to prove that eve n though other schools in the state have similar programs, it is not
an exact copy of any other program in the state. According to the Program Summary, Due to its
unique focus and curricular structure, the program does not duplicate any existing program in the
state. This is a very important piece of how this doctoral program came to be. If there had been too
much of a similarity to programs at places like Clemson University and The University of South
Carolina, the different panels of accreditors would not have allowed the doctoral program at our
school (Dr. Roberts). According to Dr. Roberts, The Dean of the Collegeof Science, The argument
that we made to the state is that we have had a strong undergraduate program for many, many

The War Of Rebellion And The Civil War
There are many events, people, and differences that led to the civil war. The main being that the
South wanted to keep on with slavery while the North did not. The civil war, also known as the
War of Rebellion, began on April 12, 1861, and the last battle was on May 13, 1865. There was
over three million soldiers fighting for the Confederates and the Union combined. There was around
600,000 casualties during this war, more on the Unions side. Abraham Lincolnplayed a big part in
the Civil War considering that he was the president during the time of the Civil War. He was the
16th president and the first republican president. In his first inaugural speech he tried to appeal to
the southern states even though seven of them had already seceded. At the end of this speech
Lincoln cleverly stated , Shall it be peace, or the sword, . Lincoln made the decision to go to war
with the south because he felt that when they illegally seceded from the union he needed to try to
keep the union together as the president.
All throughout the war Abraham made sure that they were enough weapons, that they were tested,
and there were generals for the armies. Not only did Lincoln help with managing the war he also
helped with the funds. In 1862 the Revenue Act was passed, this brought income tax to the United
States and helped with the cost of war.
In 1863 Abraham passed the Emancipation Proclamation. All though the Emancipation
Proclamation was officially in effect on January 1, 1863, Lincoln

Becoming a distinctive mercy graduate means to understand personal truths and values,to mature,
to be connected, spiritual, and to be able to accept responsibilities towards society. During my
Mercy Today project I learned so much information about the current works of the Sisters of Mercy
that connected with what I learned about the history of the Sisters of Mercyand their critical
concerns. For example, I learned that a man named, Jim Wither, M.D.,which is the founder and
medical director of Operation Safety Net, a ministry of Pittsburgh Mercy Health System (PMHS)
and Trinity Health in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, he did his work on the streetsof
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He did what the Sisters of Mercy were doing in Ireland in the mid 19th
Century. Since 1992, Withers has transversed areas under bridges, abandoned buildings, streets and
and alleyways, seeking people in Pittsburgh who are homeless, to show them compassion by
offering a listening ear, support, medical care and hope. It s almost the same actions that Catherine

Symbolism In Good Country People, By Flannery O Connor
In Good Country People, O Connor symbolizes the flaws of people for many purposes. With an
shocking ironic ending, the author shows how not all people are who they seem to be. The title
is a perfect example of how the theme is explained throughout the story. O Connor also uses the
names of her characters as hints to the actual and true personality. She also symbolizes greater
handicaps of a person with the bodily handicaps of her characters. Everything in life has a
purpose, and we just have to learn to live with the opportunities we are given and the mistakes that
are waiting to be made. This is something that Hulga, the main character, refuses to acknowledge.

  • 2. Women s Treatment Of Women Women s treatment has changed drastically throughout history. From times of severe incarceration to the near equality of today, many valuable generalities can be drawn about societies from their treatment of women. Elizabethan Great Britain, heading the way of the medieval Renaissance, introduced previously unheard of customs of treating women. In Shakespeare s Othello, women play integral roles in the outcome of the play yet are treated just as poorly, if not more so, than the racially and socially oppressed Othello, the Moor of Venice . Shakespeare s antagonist, Iago, takes advantage of the few female characters in his machinations to cause jealousy and rivalry among the men for his personal gain. Throughout his exploitation of women, the reasons and consequences of Iago s actions reveal how women were actually viewed and treated in Elizabethan times. Iago s condescending view of women causes Iago to begin to manipulate them. The root of his distrust is revealed to be buried in his suspicions that his wife slept with Othello. I hate the Moor; / And it is thought abroad that twixt my sheets / Has done my office, I know not if t be true; / Yet I, for mere suspicion in that kind, / Will do as if for surety (I.iii.392 396). Iago uses this vague thought as justification to treat his wife as if he had been cuckolded. To further exemplify Iago s patronizing perspective of women, Iago, lies to Othello about the behavior of Venetian women in regards to faithfulness. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Competition between Dr. Who and Supernatural In choosing between aliens and supernatural beings, the decision might be too difficult to make. But when it comes to choosing between Doctor Who and Supernatural , Supernatural is the better of the two. While both shows are good, Supernatural has more complexity of characters, a better soundtrack, and presents conflicts better. To evaluate whether a show is worth losing my social life, I like to take into consideration some factors of the show. The first and most important criterion is the characters. A show s characters are supposed to be complex, not one dimensional characters that only serve one purpose. Another criterion is if the soundtrack heightens the show s enjoyability. A show needs to have a good soundtrack to enhance the show. The last criterion I use to evaluate a tv series is the way the conflicts are presented. The conflicts are supposed to be connected but not be repetitive; if they are too alike then the viewer will get bored. In Supernatural, the characters are better developed than in Doctor Who; for example, Jo Harvelle. While in most shows a girl like Jo would have been portrayed like someone who only thinks about boys, fashion, and other girly things, Supernatural does not portrayed her like that. In Supernatural , Jo was first introduced as a rebellious teenager who is always arguing with her mom, Ellen Harvelle, about her future. But unlike other shows, Ellen and Jo do not argue about whom Jo marries; they argue about whether Jo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ukraine And The Russian Empire Ukraine used to be known as Kievan Rus before renaming it in the 16th century. During the 9th century, Kiev was the central focus politically and culturally in Eastern Europe. Keivan Rus maximized it s intake of power in the 10th century due to the Mongol conquest in 1240, but not before adopting Byzantine Christianity. Between the 13th and the 16th century, Kiev was significantly influenced by Poland and Western Europe. In 1596, the negotiation of the Union of Brest Litovsk dismembered the Ukrainians into Catholic faithful and Orthodox. When Ukraine had asked for protection against Poland from the czar of Muscovy in 1654, the agreement, it gave the interpretation to Moscow that it was an suggestion to take over Kiev, as a result absorbing into the Russian Empire. In the 19th century, the region was rather largely agricultural, with few cities centralized for learning and trade. The region was under the predominance of the Austro Hungarian Empire on the far end of the west and the Russian Empire abroad. With a lack of self sufficiency, many Ukrainian scholars and inspired writers were emboldened by Europe s cultivation. One of those intellectual individuals, Taras Shevchenko, who s still known as a national hero in Ukraine today, introduced the sophistication of the Ukrainian language and civilization to help revive Ukraine s cultural traditions and reestablish the Ukrainian state. The unwieldy and incognizant European transition of western Ukrainians had pervasive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, a woman receives the news about her husband s death. The protagonist is Louise Mallard, she is at home with her sister. It seems that Mrs. Mallard is never alone because of her heart trouble . Close relatives always try to take care and keep her safe and healthy. People know about her health condition, but no one knows what is happening in her mind and spirit, and no one knows that her heart trouble is not only physical but also emotional. Louise has the opportunity, for the first time in her life, of living with freedom because now the man who rules her life is gone. Louise Mallard is born again, and she starts a short but glorious moment that gives her a true life sense and liberty, but then it is ended with the presence of her husband who comes back to kill the new Louise. Louise s first reaction after hearing the news is the key to understand her personality, and how she is letting her emotions come out to give life to the new woman. Mrs. Mallard is very emotional because she suddenly starts to cry, but she is not afraid as many women might be facing this situation. According to Kate Chopin, When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one follow her . Louise needs space and privacy to assimilate what is happening. She does not want anybody follow her because it is the special moment that she was waiting for. She was not waiting for her husband s death but her freedom, so it was ... • 8. Magical Houses Made Of Bamboo Analysis In the Ted Talk Magical Houses Made of Bamboo, the speaker (Elora Hardy) and her team work hard to build these breathtaking homes out of bamboo. First, Hardy and her team harvest bamboo for their homes. Not only does bamboo have the compressive strength of concrete, but it is also extremely light compared to its size. The bamboo is transported to where the home is going to be built. Secondly, since bamboo cannot last a lifetime on its own, the team adds borax which can increase the bamboo s lifetime. Borax turns bamboo into a viable buildingmaterial. Then, Hardy and her team make a 3D blueprint of the house that they are constructing. The team considers everything when it comes down to details. After that, an experienced team of architects and designers bend and change the shape of the bamboo to fit their needs for the actual house. The team must use plenty of creativity to make their design truly astonishing. For example, in the video, To reap the selective benefits and work within the constraints of this material, we have to really push ourselves, and within the constraint, we have found space... Not only is bamboo strong and elegant, but it is also earthquake resistant. On the other hand, unprotected bamboo will most likely be eaten to dust by insects. For this reason, Kohler will need to be smart with our promotional and advertising objectives when introducing Hygieia to the commercial and residential markets. Our objectives will focus on building awareness, creating interest, providing information, stimulating demand, and reinforcing the brand. Working with our big box retailers, we will need to work closely with channel members and our salesforce to help with the execution of our promotional objectives to be effective (CITE1). Kohler being a well known faucet manufacture and distributor helps us to connect with current and new customers. Our first objective building awareness, is a vital part to determine if the product will be expanded to more stores outside of our test market. The first two months will be crucial, especially when we need to present to The Home Depot and Lowes during our product line review, to show the current sales performance. In this objective we will need to effectively reach out to our customers though push promotional strategies to explain to our target customers the Hygieia value. Our second objective will need to focus on providing information that can assist with customers in the search stage when deciding to purchase a faucet for their home or business. The sculpture is in Florence Italy in Galleria dell Accademia. This sculpture took Michelangelo three years to complete and was finished in 1504. David is the first nude standing sculpture in a thousand years and is a symbol of Florence. Michelangelo is thought to believe that he borrowed the idea from the Greek and the Hellenistic Era to build a nude sculpture. David represents victory and a hero. As seen in the sculpture, Michelangelo uses the technique of contrapposto that was used in Greek art and Hellenistic art. David is putting more weight on one foot than another and that creates the twist off with his hips and legs. The slingshot that David is holding represents a weapon that he used to defeat Goliath. The whole story that comes with the sculpture is Goliath was seemed as impossible to defeat but David comes around and defeats Goliath with a slingshot and beheads him. The lines and the detail that Michelangelo put in represents the use of geometry/math. Rather than being relaxed, David s face is tight and looks like he is ready for battle. His eyes are looking at someone or something far away and ready for something to happen. This miraculous area is found in New Jersey, in the United States, and it covers 22% of the state. Lots of animals and many different varieties of plants call this massive area home. Trees, such as the pitch pine, have adapted to the fire hazard area by the way their appearance is. Many other animals and plants have also done the same to adapt to this environment. If you take a close look at this area, you ll find many other animal species and habitats that will leave you speechless wondering how they could survive in a habitat. In fact, in the Pine Barrens, there is a total of 39 species of mammals, 299 birds, 59 reptiles, and 91 fish that have been spotted. All of these animals contribute to the ecosystem by participating in the food chain, and even some individual animals help us as well. Bees suck in a type of liquid called nectar from a flower blossom, and store it in what s known as the honey stomach, which differs from their food stomach. Once they have a full load, they bring it back to their hive. Next time when you see a bee flying around you, or near a flower, don t swat at it. Instead, watch and see how it collects the pollen we use for honey. Worms are another example of animals that can be found in the Pine Barrens that helps the ecosystem as well. They help aerate (which means to allow air into) the soil so that the roots of plants can have access to better oxygen that they need in order to survive. All around you in the Pine Barrens, you see tons of trees. You can thank a couple forgetful squirrels for those. Each year, these squirrels carelessly drop acorns or stash their supply throughout yards and forests of the Pine Barrens ecosystem. Eventually, those seeds will sprout into a tree that will continue to grow and adapt to be part of the ecosystem over time. Nature relies on this process from squirrels to continuously drop and stash more acorns to keep the growth of trees continuing, since the acorns canВґt move on their own to be ... • 13. Corruption And Relationship In The Masetto Of Boccaccio Boccaccio was a very famous Italian writer and poet. One of his most famous pieces was the Decameron. Although Boccaccio was a correspondent of Petrarch, their works are very different. Both Petrarch and Boccaccio spoke about lovers, but in every different ways. For Petrarch, a lover is the one who is loved, regardless of how it turns out. It is someone you have a spiritual attachment with. On the contrary, lover for Boccaccio is someone you have a physical connection with. He describes lover as someone to mess around with. These views of love, along with the theme of corruption, are reoccurring in Boccaccio s writings. According to Boccaccio, all people are corrupt. He shows this in multiple ways in The Decameron. I found the story of the Masetto of Lamporecchio really interesting. This is the story of a man who wanted to prove himself to others. Masetto noticed there were a group of nuns who needed a gardener and thought that he would be an ideal man for the job. Masetto knew it would be hard to get hired for a job around nuns, so he decided to act deaf and mute. This plan of his works perfectly and he was hired as a gardener. When some of the younger nuns noticed that Masetto was a good looking man, they considered having their way with him. The nuns had only heard about the pleasures and wanted to experience for themselves. They thought this mute gardener would be the perfect person to try these pleasurable experiences on, because he would not be able to tell anyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certainly there were advantages to both telescopes, one being The Hubble Space Telescope makes a complete orbit, 353 miles above the surface, around the Earth in 97 mins (Hubblesite). Meanwhile, The ALMA being ground based collects information while in one location using the earth s own rotation to see different areas into space. Of course, one would think that a space telescope would be better the a ground based telescope but they would be wrong. In further research, I found that both telescopes are reflecting telescopes using a large mirrors to bounce wavelengths to the center of the telescope and then into instruments the sends the information to certain instruments that makes images. In the novel, the main reason why fighting is occurring is not because of slavery, but rather to preserve the Union or allow state power to be superior over Federal law. Also, most of the men fighting in the Confederate army were not wealthy enough for slaves. General Lee even freed his slaves in the beginning of the war, he saw that the war was not about slavery but about the importance of state power. In 2008, Chris Tomlin put a small twist on the hymn and wrote the version of the song called My Chains Are Gone. I m going to play the refrain that he added in for you. (30 seconds of song.) Other than that refrain, Tomlin preserved the original poetry of the song that was written so long ago by Newton. Tomlin also found the original final verse that had been changed years after Newton wrote the poem. The original final verse read, The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forbare to shine. Prior to that, with the ever increasing presence of technology in our day to day lives, as well as business dealings, paper based Land Registry details had begun to be computerised. Almost all registered titles of land had been entered on to a computer based system by roughly the year 1995. There was a basic, rather rudimentary, usage of computer systems. A system of direct access to a computerised register was introduced in 1995, called the Land Registry Direct. England s traditional conveyance system stands upon multitudes of paper documents and a heavy reliance on the standard mail. Both parties to the the transaction, buyers and sellers, are subject to many possible problems within the conveyancing process. A primary concern is the registration gap. This is the time between the transfer of drawn up and agreed up contracts and the actual registration of the property unto the new owner. Particular issues with the registration gap is the fact that in any transaction there are too many parties involved, length of transaction is too long and the transparency/opaqueness is questionable/questioned. One of the original few problems identified within the previous system by the LR was the issue of overriding interests. These are third party interests that continue to bind the estate and are enforceable against the purchaser, while not appearing on the register at all. This makes it impossible to fully rely on the register, as it produces an actual risk to the purchaser. The inevitable solution is to still do the investigation (enquiries and inspection). The LR ... To begin with, the Black Death s significance should be looked at, including its victims, the rural and urban population, and recovery in the 1350s. Also, we have to look at the impact of later plagues, and the age and gender specificity of them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The over population meant that more food had to be produced in order to sustain the population, however, economic changes and changes in climate caused bad harvests and famine. Unsurprisingly, there was a disproportionate rise of mortality among the village poor in times of famine. Falling temperatures caused severe harvest failures between 1315 and 1322, with the famine of 1315 to 1317 being called The Great Famine which is said to have killed 10 to 15% of the population. With so many people living on the edge, the succession of bad harvests were bound to have a catastrophic affect. A dearth of food encouraged the already high death rate and also affected the birth rate as it discouraged fewer marriages and children, and we have already seen the effects this had on the population after the plague. On the Winchester manors heriot payers during the famine of 1315 to 1317 averaged at 142 annually, compared with 48 in the worst years of the 1270s. Ieuan Gethin described the plague in Wales as being a rootless phantom which has no mercy but the famines introduced an era of high mortality which lasted until the Black Death , thus showing continuity in population decline. The Postan theory suggests that the plague did not start the downturn, but the damage had already been done before the plague, and the failure to repair the damage had been one of the causes for the delayed recovery. For instance the already high death rates due to famine made the Black Death merely a catalyst to decline. However, the trend is different all over the country, as Razi found for Halesowen. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature melting point. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a solo identifying property. Hope might be the only escape from hard reality. This links to the American Dream represented in George and Lennie s dream of working hard and getting their own land and farm, and control over their own lives. But it was harder than ever to achieve due to the tough economic conditions of the Depression. After Lennie s death, it might be possible for George to realise his dream, but the emptiness at the end of the novel shows that financial success is nothing when you are lonely. However, it is not certain whether Steinbeck shares Crooks negative view. Crooks is an extreme character. His language is hyperbole very extreme and relentlessly negative. Crooks phrase God damn suggests that God has abandoned these men, in contrast to the biblical image of hope in George and Lennie s dream of living off the fatta the land . The biblical imagery continues negatively when Crooks compares the dream of land to being like Heaven the Christian idea of perfect bliss, not considered a physical reality and which Crooks says is just as impossible to get as a piece of land. As Achilles was face to face with Hector, Zeus showed pity for Hector. In this scene, Zeus knew that Hector was destined to die. Zeus wanted to save Hector, but was persuaded by Athena that it was Hector s time. Athena argued with him that if he would step in and save Hector that many other gods would be upset with his actions. Not only would the gods be angry, but death was Hector s fate, and the gods were bound to it. This is an example of how fate outweighed what the gods wanted to happen. Zeus was wrestling with the thought of saving Hector or allowing Hector to meet his fate. Achilles and Athena s relationship seemed to be superficial. Although Athena seemed to care for Achilles, her motive came from viewing parts of herself within him. The gods seemed to intervene when the scene looked as if it needed a bit of excitement. For example, in Book 22, Hector was being chased along the city wall by Achilles. Athena presented herself in the image of Hector s brother, DeГЇphobus, to persuade Hector to stop running and fight with Achilles. Some characters McTeagueand Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of being. Of all the themes noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof the characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage on page 323 of the novel. The main being that the South wanted to keep on with slavery while the North did not. The civil war, also known as the War of Rebellion, began on April 12, 1861, and the last battle was on May 13, 1865. There was over three million soldiers fighting for the Confederates and the Union combined. There was around 600,000 casualties during this war, more on the Unions side. Abraham Lincolnplayed a big part in the Civil War considering that he was the president during the time of the Civil War. He was the 16th president and the first republican president. In his first inaugural speech he tried to appeal to the southern states even though seven of them had already seceded. At the end of this speech Lincoln cleverly stated , Shall it be peace, or the sword, . Lincoln made the decision to go to war with the south because he felt that when they illegally seceded from the union he needed to try to keep the union together as the president. • 52. Sisters Of Mercy Scholarship Essay Becoming a distinctive mercy graduate means to understand personal truths and values,to mature, to be connected, spiritual, and to be able to accept responsibilities towards society. During my Mercy Today project I learned so much information about the current works of the Sisters of Mercy that connected with what I learned about the history of the Sisters of Mercyand their critical concerns. For example, I learned that a man named, Jim Wither, M.D.,which is the founder and medical director of Operation Safety Net, a ministry of Pittsburgh Mercy Health System (PMHS) and Trinity Health in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, he did his work on the streetsof Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Everything in life has a purpose, and we just have to learn to live with the opportunities we are given and the mistakes that are waiting to be made. • 54. The Yellow Wallpaper Symbolism In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes of a doctors so called rest cure designed to alleviate depression the main character was suffering after the birth of her daughter. The story early on begins to take on strong symbols including the room the woman was kept in, as well as the wallpaper of the room in order to show the outside societies view of women and how women are trying to find their own place. The woman in the story is locked away in the nursery of her home and forbidden to write. There were bars on the windows and the bed bolted to the floor. Just the description of the room takes on the meaning of how the woman felt; she could not escape from societies view and that she herself could not change anything. The room was to ...
