Fulgencio Batista The Dictator
After the Moncada barracks movement Fulgencio Batista the Dictator and president of Cuba had
pronounced Fidel Castro dead but no one was sure except for the people who knew Castro. That is
when The New York Times received information from an emissary of the 26th of July Movement that
Castro wanted to meet with a reporter from the United States and most recognized newspapers. On
February 1957, Herbert Mathew was granted permission by Bureau Chief in Havana to interview
Fidel Castro in the Sierra Maestra secretly so Batista regime would not find out. In his visit to Cuba
Mathews wrote three newspaper for The New York Times in February, 1957 revealing that Fidel

Kazimir Malevich As A Modernist
In this essay I shall analyze the work of Kazimir Malevich, and examine whether he can be described
as avant garde modernist. I will present how his means of expression and style changed with time,
making references to his work, history and cultural context. First, I will explain the principles of avant
garde and modernism, and show painter s background. Secondly, I will research on the beginnings of
his work, and how he came to suprematism. Then I will focus on the final period of his life and
artwork. Kazimir Malevich was a Russian painter and art theorist, living at the turn of the 19th and
20th centuries. He became the creator of a breakthrough artistic style called suprematism. Malevich
studied drawing in Kiev and Moscow, thus he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was constantly developing his style, and looking for innovative techniques and forms. As he said, I
think that first of all art is that not everyone can understand a thing in depths. This is left only to the
black sheep of time. 1 In 1915 he announced the revolutionary program of suprematism, the most
radical direction of abstraction. He rejected the iconography of visual art, recognizing a straight line
and a square as the symbols of man s superiority over chaos. It was a revolutionary moment that
forever signed him into history as a leading representative of avant garde modernism. In his manifesto,
he mentioned: By Suprematism I mean the supremacy of pure feeling in creative art. To the
Suprematist the visual phenomena of the objective world are, in themselves, meaningless; the
significant thing is feeling. 2 In 1930 Malevich began to slowly move away from suprematism,
creating similar works in neo suprematism. Gradually, he began to turn back to the style he used at the
beginning of his career. Towards the end of his life he became more and more isolated, departed from
abstraction and came back to painting simplified landscapes, realistic paintings, and portraits.
Malevich died at the age of 56, in illness, as communist authorities did not allow him to leave the

Alcoholics Anonymous Essay
Alcoholics Anonymous
When I saw the Alcoholics Anonymous assignment on our syllabus earlier this semester I thought, Oh
my god, I have to go to some stupid AA meeting. In the weeks prior to attending the meeting, I was
very nervous about attending it because I did not know what to expect. Some of the questions going
through my mind were: Was everyone expected to talk at the meeting? and Was I going to be criticized
as the outsider wanting to know what AA was all about? Those were my two main concerns.
However, I knew someone who is currently a member of AA. His name is PB . PB is the husband of
my supervisor and he was more than willing to take me to a meeting and show me what Alcoholics
Anonymous was all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One section I found interesting is the differing occupations of the people in the room. Some of them
were very surprising to me and I will mention them in a later section.
DURING As the meeting started, we began with a serenity prayer and read the twelve steps of
Alcoholics Anonymous. The second step was the focus of the meeting. I stared at the poster
containing the step because it took me quite some time to interpret what it meant. This step states:
Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. My interpretation was
that an alcoholic had to believe that a power such as God or another deity could cleanse his or her
mind of this insidious disease. As it turned out, I was half right and half wrong. The first speaker was
named Marshall. Marshall is a successful businessman and has been a member of Alcoholics
Anonymous for over ten years. He relayed his story about how his Power restored him to sanity.
Marshall said that prior to becoming a member, he knew everything. I could do anything I wanted to
when I wanted to. If anyone disagreed with me, I would do whatever it took to have that person agree
with me. It was my way or the highway. With those statements, Marshall admitted that when he was
drunk, his temper got the best of him. After becoming a member, Marshall along with many of the
members of the group was able to complete the first step with ease. The second step,

Linear Momentum
Abstract:
This experiment studies the conservation of linear momentum through a carefully calculated collision.
Two gliders were used on an air track with different weights to demonstrate what would happen as
gliders with varying masses collided into one another. Throughout the experiment the measured values
of the momentum before and after the collision were used to calculate the total momentum conserved.
Introduction:
The question of whether or not momentum is lost or conserved during a collision has been a topic of
interest for many years. When two objects of equal mass or varying masses collide what is the
outcome? The gliders are used to vary the weights and the air track is used to take away all variables
of friction that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This velocity was multiplied by the mass of the glider to calculate both its momentum before and after
the collision. There were three different situations used in which the weights of the incident and target
gliders were either equal or different. When the two masses are equal, the velocity should be
exchanged from the incident glider to the target glider. Therefore, the incident glider takes on the
velocity of the target glider and the target glider takes on the velocity of the incident glider. When the
incident glider has a mass greater than the target glider, the target body takes up a velocity in the
opposite direction that is twice the incident glider.
After calculating the velocities and momentum of each collision, the percent uncertainty was
calculated by gently pushing a glider through two photo gates and recording the velocity of the glider
through each one. Using the following formula, we calculated the percent difference which is also the
percent uncertainty in our speed measurements: .
Using case 2, we calculated ratios of mass and velocity for each configuration. Using the following
formula, we compared the ratio of mass and ratio of velocity. We compared the ratios to see if
momentum was conserved by seeing if the ratios agree within three times the percent uncertainty in
the velocities.

Descriptive Essay About Ice Skating
As quickly as possible, I ripped open the present that lay in my hands. I couldn t seem to open this
marvelous thing fast enough! The cold, crisp, December air blew from the front door passing by,
leaving a frigid feel to the house. It was my eleventh birthday in the year 1972, and there I held in my
very own hands, my first pair of ice skates. White as the snow outside my door they were, and a
glorious delight filled the air with the excitement over this special gift. I looked over and saw my
Mom glaring at my Grandma. Why on earth would she be mad about such a thrilling present? It was
such an obvious stare, that it almost seemed like my Mom wanted to demolish my skating career
before it even started. That had been two years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I put on my skates, and started gliding across the lake. Happiness flowed around me, and I felt the
crisp, winter feel of the snow. The weather conditions were perfect for ice skating, better than the
abominable harsh winds and copious amounts of snow from last week. I was in my own world, gliding
around on the glistening ice, when I suddenly saw a figure standing right beside the ice rink. My mind
froze just as cold as it was outside. I quickly realized that this person standing right beside me was my
Mother. I quickly ran over to her, and took off my skates. I then gave my Mom an aberrant face,
already knowing she was mad. The whole walk home was in silence, and my Mom was clearly irate.
When we got to our house, my Mom opened the front door, and I quickly went inside. Before I could
even think of what to say to her, she started talking. She asked me why I had disobeyed her, breaking
her trust and going against her rules. I screamed back, asking her why she never let me go ice skating,
and was always making excuses for me not to go. What started as a small argument, turned into a
colossal fight. This continued on for about ten minutes, each of us blaming each other for the fight that
went on between us. Finally, she asked me if I really wanted to know why she never let me go ice
skating. I quickly nodded my head, and listened to her story. She started off by

Hypothalamus And Motivation
There is an understanding that motivation is a driving force on behavior, but what remains unknown is
where the purpose and execution of a motivated behavior converge within the brain. The
hypothalamus plays an essential role in the integration of sensory information to direct motivated
behaviors that maintain homeostasis in the body. A behavior that largely results from motivation is
feeding, which has a reinforcing and rewarding property that stimulates the want for food. Feeding
behavior illustrates regulation at the level of the hypothalamus a want supported by the dopamine
reward system, and a relationship between food and mood provided by serotonin. Regulation of
feeding behavior is governed by two metabolic processes known as anabolism

The World Of Blood Red Snow
First was something like an ocean of blood, deep dark red. It covered everything and the sky was also
red, but a dark red. Then were the clouds that covered the sky, not red, dark grey, a dark, dark grey.
And out of the clouds shoots electricity. The electricity was like lightning. Bolts shot quickly,
mercilessly. Down to the water, making title waves were ever it struck. In the middle of everything
was someone. Someone laughing. Stranded out on an island in the ocean of blood. Laughing with a
device in his hands. The storm went on and the ocean lapped up against cliffs. Strange rocky cliffs.
They towered up higher than the clouds. And going up to the top there was a beautiful and magnificent

The man on the cliff had changed his focus from looking down to watching the boy. For that was what
he was... he was nothing more than a boy... young and helpless against the forces that held him captive
But he was more than that wasn t he? ************* That wasn t confusing at all.... It made perfect
sense to me when I woke up. I had it all figured out: Something bad is going to happen. That was the
easy part. The school was as Anna called it a major train wreck. We had to pass through the senior

let me in, flicking on the lights. My jaw dropped; there was loads of stuff in there. Well, tomorrow is

and all we have to do it set up tomorrow! We? That woke me up from whatever trance I was in. You re
at least going to help right? She looks at me with an eyebrow raised. I though I already helped... Nope.
I shrug. So what now? Anna opened the box with all her stuff in it. Well, I m going to make sure
everything is ready. How was Xavier s last night?

Mental Disorders In The Film The Big Lebowski
Before the 2000s a large portion of media portraying those with mental disorders was inaccurate and
often times they were depicted as being nuisances to society. Psycho (1960) features Anthony Perkins
as Norman Bates as the psycho and antagonist of the film. Though the title would suggest that Bates is
in fact a psychopath, someone with abnormal or violent social behavior though he actually has
symptoms associated with schizophrenia. The Big Lebowski (1998) co star John Goodman plays
Walter Sobchak, the unwanted sidekick to Jeff Bridges s Jeffrey the Dude Lebowski. Walter is a
colorful character in the film to say the least his a large, imposing, gun owning, conservative Vietnam
veteran who seems to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ... Show more content on

Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Patrizio Pat Solitano, Jr, played by Bradley Cooper, is shown to be
diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Though Cooper s acting of Pat is more grounded than other
interpretations of the disorder. The conflict within himself is cured by the end of the film when Pat
falls in love with and starts dating Jennifer Lawrence s character, Tiffany. In reality, bipolar disorder
cannot be cured but instead can be treated. In the movie, actor Bradley Cooper plays a man with
bipolar disorder who is being released from a psychiatric hospital. He soon connects emotionally with
a quirky young woman, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who has struggled with her own mental health
issues, largely brought on by her husband s death.Psychologists and other mental health professional
are touchy about how they are depicted in movies. So are doctors, police officers and lawyers. Given
the widespread influence of movies, any profession is naturally going to be invested in whether its
members are portrayed positively and accurately. After all, misrepresentations could potentially lead
to public relations problems. In the case of psychotherapy, it might mean that someone will not seek
help because they have developed a negative perception of counseling. Or in the case of mental
disorder, inaccurate depictions could increase the stigmatization of various kinds of difficulties and
diagnoses. However, as I point out in my book, The Psychology at the Movies, there is a danger in
psychologists being too uptight and literal in commenting about Hollywood movies. Film makers are
not in the same business as psychologists. Their job is to tell dramatic, compelling stories, and
sometimes they distort reality in order to accomplish this task.

Lookout Mountain
There is water in the Ruby Way far out east of where you are right now is a mountain ridge. A
mountain ridge that traverses over two states along the East coast. It s the same place where the Last
Battle of the Cherokees occurred. Even the civil war was not to far away from the mountain ridge.
One might even have a flashback to US history in the 8th grade if they were told that this was the
location of The Battle of Lookout Mountain. Most people are used to seeing waterfalls, well above
ground at least. Usually when one sees a waterfall their neck tends to bend backwards so they can look

He then decided to take his wife with him the very next time and named the waterfall and the cave
after his beautiful wife Ruby. The cave today is nowhere near as naturally carved today as it once was.
Over the last few decades Lambert has turned it into a tourist attraction. By turning it into a tourist
attraction Lambert was forced to manually carve out the cave to make it more congruent to accept the
large number of tourist they expected. They found a small passageway that eventually led them to the
waterfall, and this passageway was then dugout in order to put an elevator to allow the tourist easy
access into the mountain to the waterfall via the Ruby Falls Cave. Then as government regulations

their personal discretion. Although it is suggested that one should not drink the water for the reason
that it contains a very extremely high amount of magnesium from the strata of Lookout Mountain. The
high amounts of magnesium causes a natural laxative effect on the human body, meaning if someone

The Garcinia Cambogia Extract Diet Pills
Abstract
The following paper explores the subject of the Garcinia Cambogia Extract Diet Pills, and how this
supplement s main ingredient, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), contrary to manufacturer advertising, does
not lead to weight loss. In fact, both Garcinia Cambogia and HCA can prove to be harmful to health if
taken in large doses or for a long period of time. Because it is a supplement and not considered a drug,
the Food and Drug Administration does not monitor it. Garcinia Cambogia was also an active
ingredient in Hydroxycut products, but due to the high numbers of people developing liver failure
while taking the Hydroxycut pills or formula, the ingredient was removed and the products were re
marketed and resold. Keywords: diet pills, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it is not on the Consumer Reports list of risky supplements, garcinia cambogia extract diet
pills and its primary ingredient can cause bodily harm ( Consumer Reports Dirty Dozen , 2010).
Firstly, side effects of garcinia cambogia extract diet pills include nausea, digestive tract discomfort,
and headache ( Garcinia, n.d., sec. 3). Additional side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, upset
stomach, [and] diarrhea ( Garcinia, n.d., sec. 4) (original in list format). The supplement can also
cause problems if a woman is pregnant, plans to become pregnant, is breastfeeding ( Garcinia, n.d.),
or, for both men and women, are taking other medications (Schaefer, n.d.). Secondly, the HCA
ingredient and its effects on weight loss have not been fully studied. Research in its early stages,
however, suggests that the ingredient may be able to prevent fat storage, control appetite, and increase
exercise endurance ( Garcinia, n.d., sec. 1). Because the Food and Drug Administration does not
regulate supplements, manufacturers are able to decide exclusively the doses of each ingredient that
forms the supplement (Fetters, 2013). The garcinia cambogia is currently sold as a powder or pill, with
doses of 250 1,000 milligrams per day (Schaefer, n.d.). One criticism of HCA is that while it can
prevent certain enzymes from affecting metabolism, the studies researching and testing HCA have
only been done behind a scientific background, which has not

Asian American Stereotypes In Pop Culture
The view of POCs (People of Color) within mainstream media has always been strewed. From the
roles of Flora Robson as a Haitian maid in Saratoga Trunk to Mickey Rooney as I. Y. Yunioshi, the
view of POCs in American popular culture has always been warped to portray an often negative or
demeaning stereotype that appeases the white audience of American pop culture. Although many races
are negatively impacted by the conceptions of the white American public, the portrayal of Asian
American stereotypes in television has especially given an illusion to the American public on what to
assume when facing an Asian American. Even with the growth of the Asian American voice in
television and the increase in representation through new shows such as Fresh Off the Boat and Marco

Mercy Core Value Analysis
As I sit down to write my final reflection, I think about the Mercy Core Values here at Georgian Court
University and what I have gained during this course. I would like to think that I have been taught the
value of respect and integrity during my up bring from my parents, family, teachers and co workers
and the teachings here at GCU have given me a better outlook and understanding on how important
respect and integrity are in the world we live in. To me respect is to have an understanding in ones
beliefs even if you don t agree, basically not judging someone on their personal beliefs or actions.
Having an understanding as to why they do or say is respect. My understanding of integrity is to be
you , be honest and standup for your actions and your beliefs. Do the right thing opposed to the wrong
thing. As a person everyone has a level of respect and/or integrity. It s a matter of whether the person
truly knows the meaning of it and uses them in the right way. During this course, I have read a lot of
interesting readings, the ones that standout the most to me are Fredrick Douglass, Malala Yousafzai,
and Sister Cathrine McAuley. They are all fine examples of people I have learn more about respect
and integrity for after reading their stories. There stories show how important the Mercy Core Values

In the content of the period 1485 1587, to what extent did the Northern Rebellion of 1569 represent a
significant threat to the security of the Tudor State?
Rebellions caused a serious threat to monarchs; and as a result of the War of The Roses and Henry VII
s usurpation in 1485, the Tudor Dynasty had effectively been founded on Rebellion so it may be
possible to assume that the Tudor Dynasty could be removed by rebellion. The Tudor period can be
seen as a time of unrest as each Tudor monarch had at least one rebellion during their reign. The
majority of the Tudor rebellions were a significant threat as they attacked the authority of the Crown;
suggesting a period of instability throughout the 100 years as each rebellion was a constant ... Show

This to an extent is true as the Treason Act and Henry s Royal Supremacy were all seen as clear
examples of Cromwell s policies. Moreover, Henry VIII had said like traitors and rebels have
attempted, and not like true subjects, as ye name yourselves which illustrates that Henry VIII felt they
were a threat as they were questioning his judgement as king. As well as this, the Yorkshire rebellion
had political connotations as there was resentment in Yorkshire of a Lancastrian monarch when a
Yorkist has been overthrown. Moreover, the revolt involving Perkin Warbeck, had the support of
James IV and Charles VIII as well as the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilan, threatening Henry VII s
position as ruler as there was a possible danger than he may have been overthrown. However, the
support from these influential figures wasn t strong and Warbeck had little support south of the border.
In addition, the Wyatt s rebellion was also a political threat, questioning the security of the Tudor
State. This was due to the proposed marriage of Mary Queen of Scots to Philip of Spain. Nevertheless,

Many employees felt they were doing all of the work and should get the bonuses, not management.
This plan led to the employees feeling as though they were not treated fairly because of the many rate
changes. The employees did not have input into the plan and felt management was playing games with
the formula. Most of us like to be valued as an employee and a person. This plan did not allow the
employees to feel this way. As the morale dropped, so did production and from there, the bonuses
dwindled. Instead of looking at themselves for the lack of bonuses, they blamed management. Their
lack of understanding on the rate changes did not help the process. According to Maslow s Hierarchy,
the employees needs were not met and frustration created tension, which created low to no production.
The company faced major decisions and needed this situation to be resolved quickly. The managers
faced a crisis and needed a solution before the plant was forced to close its doors and have to lay off
the employees. The Scanlon plan created problems within the company and questions had to be
formulated and put into place to be addressed before any major decisions could be made. Although the
Scanlon plan was a good plan, it was not a one size fits all plan. Changes needed to be made and what

CHAPTER 4
SIBLINGS RELATIONSHIP
Overture to sibling s kinship
The relationship between siblings is a critical relationship. The sibling relationship is one of the
longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21). The
sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these negative
impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. The siblings help one another and give
emotional support when it is needed. The quality of sibling kinship is closely associated with social
development and the psychological characteristics of the children. Also, in this aspect it does not

Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural
differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of
sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the
impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood
envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half
sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous sentiments
of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic other, has been
perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her psychological
development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of her sister, her
guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards meaningful
kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan turns out to
be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self and psyche, that
is, toward an expanded consciousness of her roots and ethnic

Richard Feyman Research Paper
Richard Feynman
What would you say if you could be a person that changed the way we understand the world around us
with new understandings of quantum mechanics? A person that became more than just a renowned
physicist and teacher, but became an icon. Well that person was Richard Feynman. During his
lifetime, he became one of the most well known scientist in the world. Feynman not only made many
contributions to the world of quantum physics, but was also held in high regards for his amazing
ability to teach. Feynman was known to be able to make very complex things easy to understand.
Feynman was described as a very unconventional person. No matter what he was doing he always
brought his funny/different personality with him. So what was Feynman s life like? Where did he
develop his compassion and skill for mathematics and physics? What accomplishments did he achieve
in his life? Feynman was born on May 11, 1918 in Queens, New York. He was born to Jewish ... Show

It s so boring . Those were the last words of Feynman before he sadly passed away on February 15,
1988. A little over a year before his death, Feynman developed two rare types of cancer. The first type
of cancer Feynman developed was Liposarcoma. Liposarcoma is a cancer that arises in fat cells in
deep tissues. The second was Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia which effects white blood cells,
specifically B cells. Feynman s last big wish was to visit the land of Tuva in Russia. Unfortunately,
due to the Cold War, a visit to Russia was proven to be quite problematic. Feynman would not receive
permission for the visit from Russia until after his passing. Soon after his death, his daughter would go
on to make the trip to Russia in honor of her late father s dying wish. When word got out about the
passing of Feynman it sent a shockwave across the nation and the world. Feynman had grown to be a
very famous icon and a renowned physicist, speaker, and teacher. Feynman was someone who could

Cost Estimation And Cost Analysis
Cost estimation challenges can be well addressed through adopting the following set of strategic
approach. The key steps undertaken during the given process drives right cost estimation and those
actions are as follows:
 Documenting assumptions and best estimations: the assumptions can be documented in advance
and ensuring that best estimations is done using the right technique. There are various methods of
effort estimation and cost analysis however the right one should be selected on basis project
complexity and requirement. The documentation of assumptions can also help define clear scope for
the project that need to be achieved.
 Activity quantification: all process steps and their related activities need to be quantified in
advance. The quantification to be done primarily on basis of human recourse requirement, technical
requirements, and effort needed to manage project complexity and other key factors.
 Detailing out cost factors: the major cost factors for the project like labour and non labour elements
need to be analysed in advance. The deliverable against each cost factors should be determined while
aligning other key costs like overheads, inflation should be done accordingly.
 Setting up logic between cost and activities: the logical process between the cost factors and related
activities need to be established so that right rationalizes to do cost estimation correctly.

Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka Essay
According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more
dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is
a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your
own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. However, even though power is
often seen as having influence over others, power can also be distinctly self centered. Power can be
expressed through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling
you. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you. Now,
power is something that everyone can relate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, while the powerful are portrayed as relatable, they are also portrayed as generally
unforgiving and often unmerciful characters, who usually place the value of power over the value of
humanity and relationships. Senzangakhona, the first king in this novel, wanted for his companion s
son, Dingiswayo, to be dead simply because he knew that he would serve as a threat to the throne. He
also decided to banish his son, Chaka, and his wife, Nandi, because he knew that keeping them here
would bring shame to them as well as himself, and would endanger his kingship. However, he did face
internal struggles when making the decision to do this, which made him more humanistic. For
example, On page 11, the author states that The pain which Senzangakhona felt in his heart when he
had to part with Chaka, his child, and Nandi, his wife, was such that we are unable to describe it, for
he loved them greatly. (Mofolo, p.11) The battle between what is expected of you (in his case, to be
king) and what your heart yearns for (in his case, to be with his child and wife) is something that most
people can relate to, making him more personable. Chaka was portrayed as the most ruthless of all the
kings, murdering countless Zulus, as well as his own mother, wife, and child. In the beginning of the
novel, however, he was easy to relate to. As a young boy, he was rejected by his father, forced to live

Magic Boomerang Short Story
In a faraway land called Australia lived a tribe of aboriginals called the Luritja people. The land they
lived on was harsh and very hot but they had adapted over hundreds of years to be able to survive in
this rough country. They caught fish, hunted kangaroos, wallabies, lizards and snakes. In this tribe
lived a boy called Charlie and he spent his days playing with the other boys in the tribe, learning to
fish, hunt, track animals and he even learned what animals made the footprints in the red dirt. His
uncle would tell him stories of long ago (these are called Dreamtime stories) and he would sit really
still so he could listen to the whole story and not miss any of it. His grandfather made him a spear that
he could practice with and although it was not as large as his father s spear it could still be used to
hunt small creatures like lizards.
One day while Charlie watched his older brother practice throwing a boomerang and making it return
to him. He thought this must be a magical boomerang and he wanted a magic one too but he did not
know how he would get it. His father told him he was too small for a boomerang as he would not be
able to throw it and have it return to him. Charlie thought that was not fair he really wanted a magic
boomerang and no one was going to help him so he decided he would make one for himself and it
would be a magic one.
Charlie walked over to the little house where his grandfather lived (in the aboriginal language these
are called humpies). His

Loyalty In Sophocles Antigone
Throughout history, scholars, poets, and socialites cite and argue multiple aspects within Sophocles
plays, which all contain a deluge of sentiments that permeate global society and culture. Riddled with
disparate interpretations and theories, Antigone sparks acrimonious debate regarding a plethora of its
details, such as characterization, theme, and undertone. Antigone, written by the Ancient Greek
playwright Sophocles, recounts the events of Oedipus daughter, Antigone, following her brothers
deaths. Sophocles manipulates Antigone s character to model the loyal, dutiful individual the Greeks
idolized in their religion and culture rather than formulating a realistic character who serves herself.
These attributes of loyalty and duty emerge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To illustrate, Antigone articulates to Ismene that Creon lacks the power to prohibit her from burying
Polyneices (Prologue, line 35). Disregarding Creon s powers, Antigone extends both her immaturity
and recklessness in amanner that both generates a hazy impression of Antigone s plausibility and
discredits her personality because of the seldom conflict between the king and women in Ancient
Greece. Furthermore, characters such as Eurydice and Jocasta, who experience much more tragedy,
diverge from Antigone in the course of their reactions. While Jocasta and Eurydice grieve for their
loved ones and succumb to the sorrow, Antigone s reaction exists at the opposite end of the spectrum
where she acts with the sole intent to spite Creon. Continuing, Antigone dictates that she is not afraid
of the danger; if it means death, / It will not be the worst of deaths death without honor (Prologue,
lines 80 81). Recognizing her inevitable fate, Antigone makes little effort to alter her actions or
consequences. Her proud acceptance of her death, which she claims to be one of honor, projects her
arrogance and stubbornness toward her situation. This immediate compliance fails to reflect the true
outlook and reaction toward approaching death both today and in her time. Additionally, the diatribe
provided by Antigone to the chorus near her death sparks much criticism when she asserts that she
prays Creon s punishment equals her own when the truth of her actions emerges (Scene 4, lines 67
69). Antigone s blatant assault on Creon s life conveys her ignorance, which also transmits the
impossibility of her individuality. Sophocles employs Antigone to generate the generalized perspective
of tyranny Conversely, many individuals justify Antigone s reckless behavior

SCD Compliance
Change is a hard concept for most, but change in the hospital setting can be beneficial for both staff
and patients. According to Mclean (2011), Every change begins with an ending (p.79). How people
respond to change can make the process easy or hard depending on how the change is presented.
Sequential Compression Devices (SCD s) mechanically replace normal muscle motion in the leg via a
cuff that inflates and deflates uniformly. This mechanical inflation and deflation keeps blood flowing
in the veins and prevents the formation of clots that can result in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or
pulmonary embolism. SCD s are used as prophylaxis in patient groups with low to moderate risk of
DVT (Brady et al., 2007, p. 256). Patient compliance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies to show which type of leg compression device is optimal for DVT prevention are not
available. Knee length SCD s are more comfortable to patients, encourages higher levels of
compliance and also provide beneficial prophylaxis against DVT.
An informal survey of perioperative nurses, physicians and patients was performed regarding the use
of thigh length versus knee length SCD s. The surgical services management team, clinical nurse
educator, surgeons, and materials management were also involved in the process of using only knee
length SCD s on all surgical patients. The surgeons, staff, and patients were perceptive and willing to
use only knee length SCD s. The perioperative nurses were hesitant at times to call the physician for
an order to place knee length SCD s on the surgical patient. This was a barrier to the suggested change
project.
Havelock s model of change will be used for this project. Perception of need, diagnosis of the
problem, identification of the problem, devising a plan of action, gaining acceptance of the plan,
stabilization, and self renewal are all steps included in Havelock s model of change (Kearney
Nunnery, 2012). Leadership is also an important part of the change process. In order to have a positive
outcome, the leader must incorporate the staff in the change process.
Providing clarity about the change can improve the transition process. According to Mclean (2011),

Philip Anderson Ethical Dilemma
In this case, we have really two different points of view: in one side, there is Philip Anderson, the
Phoenix branch manager of Stuart Co., who manages a team with his ways, his idea, his experience
but the results do not reach the targets fixed by the firm. In the other side, there is the direction of
Stuart Co., which has opposite ideas to Philip Anderson. I will try to analyze the challenges Philip
Anderson faces from the point of view of costs of control and considering ethical concerns. Reading
this text, we could easily feel that Philip Anderson s work way is totally opposite to the firm way. The
sentence how far he [Philip Anderson] could bend without breaking shows the challenge of the alone
man is important for him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This last characteristic is one of the reason for which he is in a delicate situation with the branch. In
fact, Philip Anderson and his team do not reach the targets in term of budget but develop a lot of
relationships based on ethical dilemmas . When he sells the products or the services, he tries to satisfy
both the highest profit for Stuart Co. and the highest returns to the client. There is a famous proverb
which says the costumer is king that implies, the firm must be attentive to the customer s expectations.
Philip tries to find a compromise between both but the firm prefers establish long term relationship
just in the company s interest even if it acts unethically. Moreover, this kind of conflict between Philip
Anderson and Stuart Co. is a proof that it is difficult to establish a cost control respecting ethical
concerns. Indeed, to realize a cost control management, a firm has to fixed budget targets but these
objectives have to be possible and controllable. Perhaps in this case, the objectives fixed for Philip are
too difficult if the manager want to respect some virtues during the selling. For its success, an
enterprise has to realize a good turnover but this turnover is good only if there are some customers that
is why cost control is as important as ethical issues. With its thinking way, the branch of this firm does
not keep the focus on its manager (Philip Anderson) and on its customers. If I were Philip

Impact Of Human Geography
The Impact Of Human Geography
Does physical or human geography have more of an impact on lives? The question has been asked by
many geographers and there are many strong examples for both sides. Human geography plays a
greater role in human development by changing the way people act by being more obedient and
having freedom and having a cultures that are unique , while physical geography is the outside
environment. The outside environment is not as important since humans are sheltered in homes.
People s culture make people s lifestyle different and unique. Cultural convergence is when one
culture comes in contact with another. This makes people have more diverse and and modern cultures.
Cultural convergence helps the spread of culture, like sports, which has led to the development of the
Olympics. The opposite of cultural convergence is cultural divergence, which is the restriction of a
culture coming in contact to other cultures and other influences. Because of cultural divergence, there
are still pure cultures, like in Africa. These cultures had to make advancements ... Show more content

A dictatorship is a type of government where one person leads the territory, and this person is usually
born into this position. An example of a dictatorship today is North Korea, which is dictated by Kim
Jong Un who uses fear to lead his country. This makes the people under the dictator more obedient.
When the leader is voted for by the citizens, that government is a called a democracy. This lets the
citizens have more control of the government. Democracy is important because, leaders cannot abuse
their power and become power hungry. Another type of government is a monarchy, which is a
government with a king, queen, or pharaoh. This is one of the first types of government and
influenced the government style of dictatorship. Monarchy created different social classes

  • 3. Kazimir Malevich As A Modernist In this essay I shall analyze the work of Kazimir Malevich, and examine whether he can be described as avant garde modernist. I will present how his means of expression and style changed with time, making references to his work, history and cultural context. First, I will explain the principles of avant garde and modernism, and show painter s background. Secondly, I will research on the beginnings of his work, and how he came to suprematism. Then I will focus on the final period of his life and artwork. Kazimir Malevich was a Russian painter and art theorist, living at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. He became the creator of a breakthrough artistic style called suprematism. Malevich studied drawing in Kiev and Moscow, thus he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was constantly developing his style, and looking for innovative techniques and forms. As he said, I think that first of all art is that not everyone can understand a thing in depths. This is left only to the black sheep of time. 1 In 1915 he announced the revolutionary program of suprematism, the most radical direction of abstraction. He rejected the iconography of visual art, recognizing a straight line and a square as the symbols of man s superiority over chaos. It was a revolutionary moment that forever signed him into history as a leading representative of avant garde modernism. In his manifesto, he mentioned: By Suprematism I mean the supremacy of pure feeling in creative art. To the Suprematist the visual phenomena of the objective world are, in themselves, meaningless; the significant thing is feeling. 2 In 1930 Malevich began to slowly move away from suprematism, creating similar works in neo suprematism. Gradually, he began to turn back to the style he used at the beginning of his career. Towards the end of his life he became more and more isolated, departed from abstraction and came back to painting simplified landscapes, realistic paintings, and portraits. Alcoholics Anonymous Essay Alcoholics Anonymous When I saw the Alcoholics Anonymous assignment on our syllabus earlier this semester I thought, Oh my god, I have to go to some stupid AA meeting. In the weeks prior to attending the meeting, I was very nervous about attending it because I did not know what to expect. Some of the questions going through my mind were: Was everyone expected to talk at the meeting? and Was I going to be criticized as the outsider wanting to know what AA was all about? I stared at the poster containing the step because it took me quite some time to interpret what it meant. This step states: Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. My interpretation was that an alcoholic had to believe that a power such as God or another deity could cleanse his or her mind of this insidious disease. As it turned out, I was half right and half wrong. The first speaker was named Marshall. Marshall is a successful businessman and has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over ten years. He relayed his story about how his Power restored him to sanity. Marshall said that prior to becoming a member, he knew everything. I could do anything I wanted to when I wanted to. If anyone disagreed with me, I would do whatever it took to have that person agree with me. It was my way or the highway. With those statements, Marshall admitted that when he was drunk, his temper got the best of him. • 5. Linear Momentum Abstract: This experiment studies the conservation of linear momentum through a carefully calculated collision. Two gliders were used on an air track with different weights to demonstrate what would happen as gliders with varying masses collided into one another. Throughout the experiment the measured values of the momentum before and after the collision were used to calculate the total momentum conserved. Introduction: The question of whether or not momentum is lost or conserved during a collision has been a topic of interest for many years. When two objects of equal mass or varying masses collide what is the outcome? The gliders are used to vary the weights and the air track is used to take away all variables of friction that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This velocity was multiplied by the mass of the glider to calculate both its momentum before and after the collision. There were three different situations used in which the weights of the incident and target gliders were either equal or different. When the two masses are equal, the velocity should be exchanged from the incident glider to the target glider. Therefore, the incident glider takes on the velocity of the target glider and the target glider takes on the velocity of the incident glider. When the incident glider has a mass greater than the target glider, the target body takes up a velocity in the opposite direction that is twice the incident glider. After calculating the velocities and momentum of each collision, the percent uncertainty was calculated by gently pushing a glider through two photo gates and recording the velocity of the glider through each one. Using the following formula, we calculated the percent difference which is also the percent uncertainty in our speed measurements: . Using case 2, we calculated ratios of mass and velocity for each configuration. Using the following formula, we compared the ratio of mass and ratio of velocity. We compared the ratios to see if momentum was conserved by seeing if the ratios agree within three times the percent uncertainty in the velocities. . Hypothalamus And Motivation There is an understanding that motivation is a driving force on behavior, but what remains unknown is where the purpose and execution of a motivated behavior converge within the brain. The hypothalamus plays an essential role in the integration of sensory information to direct motivated behaviors that maintain homeostasis in the body. A behavior that largely results from motivation is feeding, which has a reinforcing and rewarding property that stimulates the want for food. Feeding behavior illustrates regulation at the level of the hypothalamus a want supported by the dopamine reward system, and a relationship between food and mood provided by serotonin. In reality, bipolar disorder cannot be cured but instead can be treated. In the movie, actor Bradley Cooper plays a man with bipolar disorder who is being released from a psychiatric hospital. He soon connects emotionally with a quirky young woman, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who has struggled with her own mental health issues, largely brought on by her husband s death.Psychologists and other mental health professional are touchy about how they are depicted in movies. So are doctors, police officers and lawyers. Given the widespread influence of movies, any profession is naturally going to be invested in whether its members are portrayed positively and accurately. After all, misrepresentations could potentially lead to public relations problems. In the case of psychotherapy, it might mean that someone will not seek help because they have developed a negative perception of counseling. Or in the case of mental disorder, inaccurate depictions could increase the stigmatization of various kinds of difficulties and diagnoses. However, as I point out in my book, The Psychology at the Movies, there is a danger in psychologists being too uptight and literal in commenting about Hollywood movies. Film makers are not in the same business as psychologists. Their job is to tell dramatic, compelling stories, and sometimes they distort reality in order to accomplish this task. ... The key steps undertaken during the given process drives right cost estimation and those actions are as follows:  Documenting assumptions and best estimations: the assumptions can be documented in advance and ensuring that best estimations is done using the right technique. There are various methods of effort estimation and cost analysis however the right one should be selected on basis project complexity and requirement. • 26. Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka Essay According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. However, even though power is often seen as having influence over others, power can also be distinctly self centered. Power can be expressed through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling you. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you. Now, power is something that everyone can relate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Senzangakhona, the first king in this novel, wanted for his companion s son, Dingiswayo, to be dead simply because he knew that he would serve as a threat to the throne. He also decided to banish his son, Chaka, and his wife, Nandi, because he knew that keeping them here would bring shame to them as well as himself, and would endanger his kingship. However, he did face internal struggles when making the decision to do this, which made him more humanistic. For example, On page 11, the author states that The pain which Senzangakhona felt in his heart when he had to part with Chaka, his child, and Nandi, his wife, was such that we are unable to describe it, for he loved them greatly. (Mofolo, p.11) The battle between what is expected of you (in his case, to be king) and what your heart yearns for (in his case, to be with his child and wife) is something that most people can relate to, making him more personable. Chaka was portrayed as the most ruthless of all the kings, murdering countless Zulus, as well as his own mother, wife, and child. In the beginning of the novel, however, he was easy to relate to. Riddled with disparate interpretations and theories, Antigone sparks acrimonious debate regarding a plethora of its details, such as characterization, theme, and undertone. Antigone, written by the Ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, recounts the events of Oedipus daughter, Antigone, following her brothers deaths. To illustrate, Antigone articulates to Ismene that Creon lacks the power to prohibit her from burying Polyneices (Prologue, line 35). Disregarding Creon s powers, Antigone extends both her immaturity and recklessness in amanner that both generates a hazy impression of Antigone s plausibility and discredits her personality because of the seldom conflict between the king and women in Ancient Greece. Furthermore, characters such as Eurydice and Jocasta, who experience much more tragedy, diverge from Antigone in the course of their reactions. While Jocasta and Eurydice grieve for their loved ones and succumb to the sorrow, Antigone s reaction exists at the opposite end of the spectrum where she acts with the sole intent to spite Creon. Continuing, Antigone dictates that she is not afraid of the danger; if it means death, / It will not be the worst of deaths death without honor (Prologue, lines 80 81). Recognizing her inevitable fate, Antigone makes little effort to alter her actions or consequences. Her proud acceptance of her death, which she claims to be one of honor, projects her arrogance and stubbornness toward her situation. This immediate compliance fails to reflect the true outlook and reaction toward approaching death both today and in her time. Additionally, the diatribe provided by Antigone to the chorus near her death sparks much criticism when she asserts that she prays Creon s punishment equals her own when the truth of her actions emerges (Scene 4, lines 67 69). Antigone s blatant assault on Creon s life conveys her ignorance, which also transmits the impossibility of her individuality. • 29. SCD Compliance Change is a hard concept for most, but change in the hospital setting can be beneficial for both staff and patients. According to Mclean (2011), Every change begins with an ending (p.79). How people respond to change can make the process easy or hard depending on how the change is presented. Sequential Compression Devices (SCD s) mechanically replace normal muscle motion in the leg via a cuff that inflates and deflates uniformly. This mechanical inflation and deflation keeps blood flowing in the veins and prevents the formation of clots that can result in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism. SCD s are used as prophylaxis in patient groups with low to moderate risk of DVT (Brady et al., 2007, p. 256). Patient compliance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies to show which type of leg compression device is optimal for DVT prevention are not available. Knee length SCD s are more comfortable to patients, encourages higher levels of compliance and also provide beneficial prophylaxis against DVT. An informal survey of perioperative nurses, physicians and patients was performed regarding the use of thigh length versus knee length SCD s. The surgical services management team, clinical nurse educator, surgeons, and materials management were also involved in the process of using only knee length SCD s on all surgical patients. The surgeons, staff, and patients were perceptive and willing to use only knee length SCD s. The perioperative nurses were hesitant at times to call the physician for an order to place knee length SCD s on the surgical patient. This was a barrier to the suggested change project. Havelock s model of change will be used for this project. Perception of need, diagnosis of the problem, identification of the problem, devising a plan of action, gaining acceptance of the plan, stabilization, and self renewal are all steps included in Havelock s model of change (Kearney Nunnery, 2012). There is a famous proverb which says the costumer is king that implies, the firm must be attentive to the customer s expectations. Philip tries to find a compromise between both but the firm prefers establish long term relationship just in the company s interest even if it acts unethically. Moreover, this kind of conflict between Philip Anderson and Stuart Co. is a proof that it is difficult to establish a cost control respecting ethical concerns. Indeed, to realize a cost control management, a firm has to fixed budget targets but these objectives have to be possible and controllable. Perhaps in this case, the objectives fixed for Philip are too difficult if the manager want to respect some virtues during the selling. For its success, an enterprise has to realize a good turnover but this turnover is good only if there are some customers that is why cost control is as important as ethical issues.
