This document identifies risks associated with shooting a film and outlines responsibilities and preventative measures. It addresses risks such as illness, injury, equipment damage or malfunction, scheduling issues, unsafe or unavailable locations, poor acting, interference, traffic hazards, electrical safety, inability to obtain costumes/props, trip hazards, software/editing issues, and general safety concerns. For each risk, it assigns responsibility to the filmmaker or actors and proposes actions to minimize risks, such as having backup equipment, carefully selecting locations and dates, giving clear direction to actors, and taking basic safety precautions.

Risks and Responsibilities Document
1. Risk Identified
Shooting
Location
Responsibility
Prevention/Dealing With the
Issue
Illness of Crew or
Actors
All Me/Actors
Unfortunately this is
something that I only have
minimal control over as it is
mostly up to the individuals
to ensure that they are in
good health. However, I will
be mindful of this when
choosing costumes. For
example, I would not ask
anyone to stand outside in
the cold without a coat or
whilst wearing summer style
clothes.
Injury of Crew or
Actors
All Me/Actors
I, along with the cast and
crew, will be mindful of our
surroundings so as to avoid
injury. This will include trip
hazards, possible wet
surfaces,
Broken Equipment All Me
To prevent the damage of
equipment, I shall not allow
any of the actors to use or
come in contact with, the
equipment. I also intend to
take care when handling the
equipment to minimise the
risk of damage.
Low Battery on
Camera
All Me
I will ensure that I charge
batteries fully before use and
take spares with me as a back
up.
Memory Card
Malfunction
All Me
I will make sure to empty the
cards before use to maximise
available space, as well as
using either a 32GB or 64GB
card. I will also take 1-2 spare
memory cards with me on all
shoots to ensure that I have a
back-up option.

2. Lighting All Me/ N/A
When filming outdoors I will
have to be mindful of the
weather, especially if I am
filming on different days, for
continuity. If the weather is
bad then the lighting is likely
to be darker, which is not
preferred for the atmosphere
I would like my video to have.
When filming indoors I will
have to be careful to use as
little unnatural lighting as
possible as it often gives off a
yellow tinge. During the
scenes that are to be filmed
on the stage at college I will
be able to use professional
lighting and control the
atmosphere more.
Actor Scheduling
Issues
All Me/Actors
We will discuss thoroughly
before agreeing to a final
date and time when
shooting. If something comes
up last minute then we will
have to reschedule for a
more appropriate time.
Location
Safety/Unavailability
All Me
I will do everything within my
power to ensure that my
chosen locations are both
safe for the actors and crew
but also available for the
desired time. Rather than risk
being left stranded if I am
unable to use my desired
locations for any reasons, I
will make sure that I have
back-up locations lined up.
Poor Acting All Me/Actors
I will choose actors who are
comfortable in front of the
camera and each other when
performing. I will also try to
give the actors as much
direction and information as
possible as to what they
should be doing.
3. Public Interference
All Outdoor
Locations
Me/Actors
The majority of the shots
required within my music
video are indoors therefore
public interference can be
controlled and minimalized
much more easily. If however
we do have issues with the
public we will either wait
until they are no longer an
obstacle or will reschedule
the filming for that specific
scene/shot.
Traffic
Outdoor
Locations
Me
To avoid this issue I will try to
film at less busy areas and
times of day. However if this
does become a problem, we
will simply wait until the area
is clear enough to continue
with the planned filming
safely.
Electricals Studio Me
Both the actors and myself
will be careful when handling
electrical items. All cast and
crew will have minimal
contact with such items
except when necessary for e
certain scene or shot.
Unable To Obtain
Costumes/Props on
Time
All Me/Actors
To avoid this problem I will
carefully select the costumes
and props in advance to
ensure as much time as
possible to gain these items.
Trip Hazards All Me/Actors
I will ensure that both myself
and the cast and crew are
aware of any possible wires
or other trip hazards at all
times, being careful where
we walk.
4. Software
Post
Production
Editing - Macs
Me
Problems that could occur
when working on the macs
are: loss of work and/or
footage, spillages onto the
macs, inability to work on
more than one mac. To
prevent these from being
issues I plan to back up my
work regularly, do not allow
any sort of liquid to be near
the macs, and always save
my work as an XML file.
General Safety All Me/Actors
Both myself and the actors
and crew will be alert at all
times and take all necessary
safety precautions when
filming or travelling to and
from locations. If anything
were to happen that is out of
our control then we would
either handle it sensibly on
our own if possible, if not
then we will contact those
necessary to help.
