Seminar on
 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology
works on radio waves that is used to identify and
track objects.
 Small electronic device capable of storing 2
kilobytes(or less) data that provides unique identity
to an object.
 RFID was invented by Harry Stockman in 1948.
 Commercial use started in 1990.
 It was firstly used during WW2 by United Kingdom
to identify enemy planes.
 RFID reader is a two way radio transmitter-receiver
used to gather information from a RFID tag.
 RFID reader sends a signal to a tag and also
receives/reads its response.
 Unlike barcode reader should not be in LOS for
sending and receiving signals.
 RFID tags can store more information.
 Effective way to track animals as well as other
objects.
 Unlike barcode these tags can read as well as write.
 Active RFID tags are costly due to batteries.
 Privacy is a concern because they can easily be
tapped.
 RFID devices take large amount of time during
programming
 Lack of awareness in people.
