  2. 2. WHAT IS RFID ? • A technology for identify and tracking tags/labels that attached to objects. • The tags/labels contain electronically stored information. • Using standardized frequency bands according to the regulations for each country.

TYPE OF RFID TAG • Passive Tags • Doesn’t have battery inside the tags, so the tag can operate until damaged or discarded • Collect energy from a nearby RFID Readers that transmitting radio waves • The signal has to be to bi-directional • Read distance range of 10 cm to a few meters • Active Tags • Have on-board battery inside the tags, and the tag expire after battery power runs out • Periodically transmits its ID signal • The signal is Omni-directional
