Respect is a positive feeling of esteem or deference for others and actions that demonstrate that esteem. Self-respect comes from taking care of our mind, body, and spirit through learning, exercise, and spiritual practices. Gaining respect requires humility and not viewing oneself as superior, as well as demonstrating respect through good works that help and lift others in the community through volunteering and leadership. Our choices should align with our purpose and illustrate good character, and integrity in both large and small choices will generate deeper respect from others.
