Peer pressure can influence people to do things they normally wouldn't. It occurs when people want to feel accepted by their peers. There are three types of peer pressure: positive pressure encourages constructive actions; neutral pressure doesn't harm others; negative pressure endangers safety or hurts people. While peer influence can strengthen friendships and provide encouragement, it can also cause stress if forcing unsafe behaviors. It's important to choose peers carefully, say no when uncomfortable, and stand up for beliefs to face peer pressure positively.
This presentation is born out of my own experience of despair after a bicycle accident few years back.
In order to mend my spirit I started making cards to remind myself that I had the power to choose how my life would shape in the future.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed creating it.
A presentation on Bullying. The victim. The bully . Types of bullying. How to help the victim. Are you a bully? Discussion questions and a writing exercise. Vocabulary section .
Children often seek a sense of belonging at school and will engage in certain behaviors to fit in among their peers (someone in their age group). Even in preschool they are becoming concerned with what their friends think and do.
Children want to be well liked and included in a group, which makes them susceptible to peer pressure (influence that members of the same age group can have over each other). Peer pressure has been shown to affect children as early as preschool age and becomes an even greater risk as they transition into middle and high school.
This presentation was created to explain what bullying is and how it is used. You might realize that you are the victim of bulling or that you are actually being a bully!
I assigned my 5th grade health classes a bullying prevention project. I created the PowerPoint template and the students researched the information. The students worked collaboratively on this assignment. The final presentation was uploaded to the school website to educate parents and other elementary students.

Accompanying slides for my presentation/workshop at the DPM Summit, 2015.
This workshop was concentrated around something that's hard for all of us to say, especially at key times throughout projects: the word NO.
By looking at the word itself, and then examining various project failures in the past, I devised an expectation-setting conversation that helps teams partner with their clients, and educates them on what they can expect throughout the whole process.
This helps people learn about peer pressure and what it is all about. It also helps people to learn how to control it and also helps people to know that it is possible to get influenced positively.

2. What is peer pressure?
WE all want to be part of a group
and feel like we belong in our
community.
Peer pressure can happen when
we are influenced to do
something we usually would not
do, or stop us from doing
something we would like to do.
3. •someone whom you
would think is an equal
in age or ability
•a friend, someone in the
community or even
someone on TV
4. WHY do we have peer
pressure?
The only reason…
WE WANT TO BE
ACCEPTED BY
OUR
6. Positive peer pressure
• where peers support and
encourage constructive actions for
one another
• the type of age-appropriate peer
pressure that we want to
encourage
o As example, Our peer encourage us to study
hard for mid-term exam .
7. Neutral peer pressure
• Occurs when peers pressure one
to go along with the crowd in a way
that’s not harmful to others.
• This type of pressure occurs
frequently in the teenage years and
should not be considered a
problem.
o For example, your friends invite you to go
for a party which many friends will go
8. Negative peer pressure
• to do something that places a
teen in danger or is hurtful to
others is definitely cause for
concern.
o For example, your peer want you to steal
your parents’ money to buy some wrong
material.
9. Influence of peer pressure
• Friendship.
We can find friendship and acceptance,
and share experiences that can build
lasting bonds.
• Feedback and Advice.
Our friends listen and give us feedback as
we try out new ideas, explore belief, and
discuss problems. Peers can help us
make decisions. And also, our peers can
give us advice and do the right things.
10. • Socializing.
Our peer group gives us opportunities to try out
new social skills. Getting to know lots of
different people and help us to build a
relationship.
• Encouragement.
Our friend can encourage us to study hard and
not to give up easily if there’s any problem. This
is a big encouragement.
• New Experiences.
Our peers might get us involved in clubs, sports,
or religious groups. Our peers might bring us to
experience something good that we had never
experienced before.
11. Influence of Bad peer pressure
• We may be stressed because of our
peers. Sometimes, they will influence us
to do something we aren’t comfortable
with or have never done before.
o Doing drugs, drinking, having sex before we are
ready
• This pressure may be expressed openly
o “Oh, come on it's just one beer, all of us drink it!”
• Or , more indirectly.
o “Take this cigarette.”
14. Although peer pressure has
it’s good and bad, we have to
accept the good and face the
bad .
If not, we will be influenced
by our peers to do something
which is dangerous and
unhealthy.
16. •Saying "No"
We must learn to say “NO" to those things that we
don’t want to do or which is not right. Explaining to
people in a calm way why we don't want to be part of
something is one way of handling it.
•Take Action
Sometimes we are able to tackle peer pressure
because we feel more comfortable in our
environment. Standing up for someone may help us
exercise our beliefs or rights. Both of these are ways
in which you may be able to create a positive vibe
out of peer pressure.
17. •Plan for possible pressure
situations.
Think ahead of how we can handle situations.
Decide ahead of time — and even rehearse —
what we'll say and do. Learn a few tricks.
•Hang with people who feel
the same way we do.
Choose friends who will speak up with us when
we're in need of moral support, and be quick to
speak up for a friend in the same way.
18. Choosing friends is very important
for us. We can’t live without
friends but we also can't have a
bad peer pressure. Good pressure
can improve us but bad one won't.
Having a true and good friend is
important. We should choose our
friends carefully.
Know who is the good peer
and who is the bad.
