Chapter Summary For Killer Angels
KILLER ANGELS
AUTHOR: MICHAEL SHAARA
Set in the American Civil War, Killer Angels gives the viewpoints of four Generals (Generals Lee
Longstreet from the South and Generals Chamberlain Buford from the Union) as they fight through
the battle of Gettysburg.
The year is 1863. The American Civil War has dragged on for over two years. For most of the war the
South has been playing defense in their own background, using maneuvers and tactics to gain
impressive victories over the far superior Union Army. General Meade has been thrust into command
of the Army of the Potomac. President Lincoln faces heat in Washington and his reelection is in doubt.
The time is now for General Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia to go on the offense and end the

He attempts to gather all his divisions together and begin his offensive campaign against General
Meade s armies. On the Union side, General Buford engages Lee s forces until dusk in order to hold
off their advances and allow his men to keep the high ground and gain a strategic advantage. It
appears that Lee has gained a major victory at this point since Buford ran to the hills . Day two dawns
with General Longstreet trying to convince Lee that the Army of Northern Virginia is not built to go
on the offensive and that a full on assault campaign will ruin the Army. Lee pays no heed. General
Chamberlain and his Maine Men are the end of the Union Line and successfully holds off a far
superior Confederate assault and keep the high ground. On the third and final day of the battle,
General Lee commits the greatest folly of his illustrious career. Again dismissing the pleas of
Longstreet, Lee sends General Pickett and his division across an open field to attack the Union
position. To this day, military historians are unsure why Lee sent Picket on this suicide mission.
Pickett s Charge led to catastrophic losses for the Confederate Army and a shocked General Lee was
forced to call retreat. Thus ended the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War and effectively ended
the war for all intents and purposes (although the war would rage on for another year and a half). The
Army of Northern Virginia would never again make a serious venture into the Northern

If no CSR is available, the caller waits as the call is placed in a queue for the next available CSR on a
first come, first serve basis.
* Single Phase
Although 6 call types are mentioned in the case, there is no specific sequence for answering those
questions and customers may ask only one type of question. Therefore it is single service.
Formula:
5. What is the expected number of people waiting in the queue?
The expected number of people waiting in the queue is Lq = 0.0677 * * Look up the table and find the
result is about 0.059
However, we don t think it is accurate.
* We stimulate these calculations of the Queuing Models on excel, which is called Q.xls. Finally, we
get a more accurate Lq.
6. What is the average number of callers in the system?
The average callers in the system not only contain the customers who are on the call, but also include
those customers who are waiting in the queue. So the average number of callers can be calculated by
adding the expected number of people waiting in the queue and the average utilization of the
employee.
* = 0.0677 + 112.39 / 27.55 = 4.1472
7. What is the average total time in the system?
The average total time in the system can be divided into two aspects, the waiting time and the serving
time. For the average waiting time, we should use the expected number of people waiting in the queue
to be divided by the arrival rate.

Critical Issue Analysis

Critical Issue Analysis
After reading the selected critical issue, use the following questions to analyze the issue. Issue 3 Is
Psychological Debriefing a Harmful Intervention for Survivors of Trauma?
1. What are at least two facts presented by each side of the critical issue? Devilly Cotton who
represent the con side of the agreement present many different facts. Two that stand out is: that
psychological debriefing . . . more of a moral maintenance intervention qua gesture of employer
support, rather than a clinical intervention influencing distress and clinical symptomatolgy. (Halgin,
2009, p. 68.) Devilliy Cotton also point to the fact it is a company s way to protect again ... Show

What are some of the weaknesses?
I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show the
differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. As
well as defining what psychology debriefing entails.
Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat
confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to do
much deep research for other papers written on the topic.
5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer.
Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many different
forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. Also
how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing. Therefore it is hard to tell
the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two systems work and the
outcomes of such programs.
Mitchell was credible in from the first paragraph notes that In 1983 I wrote the first article ever
written on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. . . (Halgin, 2009, p. 78). Uses the programs during an
event rather than after.
6. Based on the statements presented in this critical issue, which author do you agree with? Why?
While both sides had concrete evidence supporting their claims; I think

Mr. Grower experiences symptoms such as feeling hot, and light headedness, and unawareness. He
felt hot and warm prior to the root canal removal. Therefore this symptom is most likely hinting at
some problems he got before the removal. His symptoms of lightheadedness could be due to the
effects of the surgery or anesthetic. Need more information to be sure.

a. Which presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the
postsynaptic cell?
Excitatory presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the
postsynaptic cell because they promote depolarization of membrane which is needed to cause an
action potential. On the other hand Inhibitory presynaptic cell promote hyperpolarization which goes
against producing an action potential.
b. What phenomena must take place for the small postsynaptic potentials to reach threshold and
produce action potentials?
Summation of Excitatory postsynaptic potential and Inhibitory postsynaptic potential must take place.
More specifically spatial summation, which means that all the types of potential must add up to be
greater (less negative) than the threshold potential of 55mv for an action potential to occur in the
postsynaptic neuron.
c. If the frequency of action potentials in this presynaptic cell (#10a) increases, what happens to the
number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell?
If the frequency of action potentials in the excitatory presynaptic cell increases than the number of
action potentials in the postsynaptic cell will increase as well. This is due to temporal summation of
EPSP at very frequent times. This causes the postsynaptic cell to produce many action potential in
succession.
d. What happens to the number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell if the other presynaptic

Business Needs Of Mr. Smith s Bakery Essay
ntroduction:
In this project, we address the business needs of Mr.Smith s Bakery. This business is a bakery that
deals mostly with larger orders meant for parties, restaurants and large events. The bakery is primary a
business to business entity and customers call ahead to place orders. These orders are generally a bulk
order of a few products. Although the bakery is fictitious, this sort of business exist and is very
common way to operate a bakery. With the hassle of trying to keep paper and Excel records on
multiple tabs and folders, an Access database was the ideal solution.
The business has four currently employees, including Mr.Smith. The product categories is extensive
but for the sake of the database, we only included a handful to demonstrate that the database works
and that the calculations are done accurately and timely. Each product has a few ingredients that
should be tracked so that Mr.Smith knows how much of each ingredients are needed, giving the
business a better estimate of what is needed and if they can fulfill the orders.
The process of finding out the business rules, developing the database and solving the problems is
shown in greater detail in the following sections.
Project Background:
Mr.Smith s Bakery is not a real bakery that any of us are aware of. However, producing large
quantities of products as demanded by large customers is the ideal way to run a large bakery. Running
a business to business bakery is an efficient way to make use of a

Role Of The Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Most people will never understand the many complexities of the world. The same can be said about
the human body and the different structures that work together to produce movement. Some people
who desire to be in highly competitive sporting environments, will attest to the excruciatingly painful,
life altering moment when they were engaged in play and heard the quintessential pop sound from
their knee and they are immediately falling to the floor unable to move that knee. This is usually
followed by a diagnosis of an anterior cruciate ligament tear and within a few weeks, surgical methods
must be taken if the athlete wishes to return to their sport at the same high level. This paper will seek
to properly define what the role of the anterior cruciate ligament (more commonly called the ACL) is,
shed light on the procedures necessary for an athlete to return to play, and analyze data found through
research to determine the likelihood of re injury and, therefore, the effectiveness of ACL surgery. The
anterior cruciate ligament is a ligament that connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (lower leg
bone) and is one of four major ligaments in the knee (Putukian 1). It is responsible for stabilizing the
knee, especially in sports/activities that require cutting, pivoting, turning maneuvers, landing, sudden
deceleration, and planting. It is this ligament that is responsible for also preventing tibial translation
onto the femur. Injury to the ACL usually happens when

Stage one of the experiment aimed at examining the effect of changes in working arrangements upon
productivity (Gale 2004). During this stage five girls were transferred from the factory floor to a
special test room where their output of relays was recorded for over two years, during which a large
number of alterations were made to their working conditions (Carey 1967). One of the changes made
was to the illumination values in the factory environment. When the light was cut down to .06 of a

conclusion came as a great Ć©claircissement as the founding s were quite different from what they had
expected. The results identified the importance of social satisfactions at work and researches were
puzzled to observe that productivity continued to rise regardless of the changes made to the physical
working environment. At the end of the two years the results found that the girls output had increased

Goldratt s The Goal
When goals are established there are a set of rules put in place to meet a certain criteria. Depending on
the severity of the goal, one could establish policies that go against the system. In the novel The Goal
by Eliyahu Goldratt, Alex does just that. Alex the main character of the novel is put in between a rock
and a hard place. There are only two ways out, which are to either quit or to fix the problems in a span
of 6 months. There are numerous ways and processes that are implemented for the factory to get out of
the slump, but being that this is from a managers perspective I have gained knowledge on three major

from college, Jonah. (60 62) There is little small talk as Jonah asks what the problem is and suggests a
few ideas and even terms Alex has to brush up on. When looking in from the outside you get a bigger
picture from when you are standing on the inside. Jonah being interested in the plant is actually
working on ideas to improve them and how they work, but as a scientist. Alex seeks help from Jonah,
but Jonah doesn t give all the answers or information at once. He makes Alex find out the answers
before Alex is able to call Jonah again. Mentorship just doesn t have to be from older and wiser
beings, it can be from all sorts of people. Eventually Alex seeks mentorship from his family, including
his wife and his kids into his ideas, which on the contrary Alex s kids help him. (113 119) When Alex

The Media s Influence On Media Coverage
Introduction
According to Wikipedia website state a media circus is a news event where the media coverage is
perceived to be out of proportion to even being to be covered. Examples of media circuses include the
Sandy Hook School Shooting, Casey Anthony Trial, and Kitty Genovese Murder. However, one of the
media circus that the media has been focusing on is Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus is seen as one of the
outrageous celebrities who caused the media to symbolize her as a promiscuous in the media and is
therefore seen as a norm violator.

For example, Miley Cyrus is a person who violates the norms of a society.
Norm Violation #1 Over the years, Miley Cyrus has made insolent, racist comments during her
interviews and television appearances. Throughout American history, America has always been a
nation of immigrants. Much less at a young age, one learns to treat others the way one wants to be
treated with respect, regardless of skin color, so forth. The media have portrayed this norm violation
towards Miley Cyrus, which has received negative backlash. If people look at Miley Cyrus Don t Stop
video, she has received several negative comments about how she does not understand cultural
appropriation. According to Splicetoday, during an interview with Professor Akil Houston, Wilbert L.
Cooper identified what Miley Cyrus did in her Don t Stop music video as a hand gesture that indicates
eating the other in black culture. Furthermore, in the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus
has used the word mammy in a skit, which has caused the media, audience, and even celebrities to
give criticisms about Miley Cyrus using the term mammy. For example, Chance the Rapper, a
musician tweeted: I think shorty said my real mammy. Additionally, on social media had issues with
Miley using the term mammy. Such as one viewer tweeted: The most uncomfortable, racist, confusing,

Absolutism Vs Individualism
This is a rich work: about the deterioration of western morality from its early heroic age to the present
barbarism; about the fragmentation and growing incoherence of ethical theory that accompanies the
deterioriation; about the shape that self and society have increasingly taken; and about the concepts
through which we can gain an understanding of the process. MacIntyre sees our moral crisis as the
consequence of the historical rejection of an Aristotelian moral scheme in which the role of the virtues
is dominant, reflecting a society of shared goods. It has been replaced progressively by a rank
individualism whose theory flowered in the Enlightenment s view of the atomic individual with his
private desires and objectives. Hence liberal

Overview of Lung cancer Essay
Lung cancer is considered to be the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. There are approximately
about 180,000 cases that are diagnosed in America, considering that 90% dies thru lung cancer alone.
Despite of its number, it is the most preventable of all the cancers. Like every cancer it spreads out
fast if not taken seriously, this due the abnormal growth of cells. The abnormal cell growth often leads
to the formation of tumor. This cancer is very common and very deadly. The following common
symptoms of lung cancer may include excessive coughing, chest pain, shortness in breath, hoarse

Most lung cancers start in the epithelial lining of the bronchi, and occasionally in the trachea,
bronchioles, or alveoli. All forms of lung cancer, being derived from epithelial cells, are carcinomas.
(Panno, 2005) The spread of lung cancer takes time but could spread fast if not alerted, this depends
on the patient s immune system. The decay can lead to more harmful situation; it can spread quickly to
the bone and brain. The lung is close to the heart where it could potential affect the blood flow. This
affects the person ability to exchange carbon dioxide and oxygen during breathing process. The
treatment for lung cancer may involve chemotherapy therapy, radiation therapy, and surgical removal
of the cancer as the last resort. Sometime patient has to go thru a combination of the treatments due to
its location and severity. Deciding the best medication that works well depends on the person s
situation and other health issues. The surgical process usually performed at its earliest stage. This
works well on slow growing cancer and the chances of survival is the best. Sometimes this procedure
does not work, where integrated with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy is needed. (West, 2011)
Another process would be the radiation treatment usually used as preventative measure to slow the
growth process and brachytherapy is commonly used. Most of the time 70% patient resort to this

Situational Irony In O. Henry s Ransom Of Red Chief
In Ransom of Red Chief there are two kidnappers Sam and Bill planning on kidnapping Dorsett s son.
One day they go and kidnapped the kid. Once they get the kid to the cave he starts asking a lot of
questions. Then the kid attempts to scalp Bill. They get really desperate, and they want to get rid of
him because they are tired of him. So they send a ransom letter to Dorset. Then he sends a counter
profit saying how he would want his son return to get him off their hands. Finally, Sam and Bill had to
pay Dorset for them to return his son, and they ran into the valley. In Ransom of Red Chief O. Henry
uses situational irony to create humor in his short story. It is very entertaining to see the things that
happen throughout the story because the reader does not expect those things to happen. As a result of
O. Henry using situational irony, it develops the theme crime doesn t pay. In order for the reader to
understand the theme, they need to understand situational irony and how it affects the story.
Throughout the story, there are moments when there are humorous events. In the beginning part of the
story, Sam and Bill kidnap and the boy thinks it is fun. Yes, sir, that boy seemed to be having the time
of his life. The fun of camping out in a cave had made him forget that he was a captive himself
(Henry, 2). The reader would expect someone who is kidnapped to be scared and would not be having
the time of their life. I don t have any fun at home. I hate to go to school. I

Emily Dickinson s The Brain Is Wide Then The Sky
The poem The Brain is Wider Then The Sky by Emily Dickinson, written in 1862. Emily Dickinson
was a woman who never married. She lived with her parents in Amherst Massachusetts. Emily
believed in feminist. She came from a very church going family but as she got older she stopped going
to church. She was a very smart woman. She attended college at Amherst Academy. Her father was
the founder of Amherst Academy, which today is called Amherst College. Amherst college is still a
well know college in Massachusetts. Emily Dickinson started a book club involving multiple friends,
as well as her loving attentiveness to individuals in times of both suffering and joy. These inquiries
highlight her thoughts on love, marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries
ranging from legal discourse to Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the
volume includes essays by Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr,
James Guthrie, Ellen Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and
Stephanie Tingley. One of Emilys favorite books was the bible. She referred back to the bible in a lot
of her work. The poem The Brain is Wider Then The Sky can be interpreted in many different ways. If
you have knowledge of Emily Dickinson back round you may interpret it differently then others who
do not know much about her life and upbringing. This poem is a four line stanza, most of her work
was. She would write in many different styles .She wanted to be different and unique. Emily wanted
her work to standout. She never wrote your typical poems. There was not structure in her writing.
While reading the poem you cannot get a lot from it about Dickinson but you can understand her
philosophy about the human body. The beginning stanza The Brain is wider then the sky, for, put them
side to side . She is saying that the two are the same in many ways. The sky is endless and always
growing, as is a brain. We know that Emily Dickinson was very educational. She went to Amherst
Academy schools and was a very out standing student. At the time when she wrote this poem there
was a lot of thing happening such as the civil war and slavery and the Underground

It is our contention that RM is inherently an ethical activity, since enduring relationships cannot be
built or sustained without a solid moral foundation. Before moving on, it is important to deļ¬ne and
clarify our view of relationship marketing. As Kotler and Keller (2006), Gummesson (1999) and
others have stated, RM has the aim of building mutually satisfying long term relations with key parties
customers, suppliers, distributors in order to earn and retain their businesses. Norberg (2001) listed 14
deļ¬nitions of RM taken from the literature during the last 15 years. Most of the deļ¬nitions indicate
that there are separate phases of a relationship such as its foundation and maintenance. Furthermore,
elements like trust, equity and involvement tend to foster this bond and contribute to long term partner
satisfaction. This paper is divided into four parts. First, we examine the historical roots of relationship
marketing. The second section characterizes both the American and European views on RM. Third, we
present a model of ethical relationship marketing and discuss its components. Within the model, the
theory of virtue and several relevant virtues that we believe are essential for successful RM are
examined. In the subsequent discussion, we lay the groundwork for those who might attempt to
measure the presence of these characteristics in business and consumer partnerships that have been
claimed to be successful. Finally, we draw implications for

The Royal Forest And Bird Protection Society Essay
Introduction
New Zealanders take their environment very seriously. From their native birds (Kiwi, Takahe) to their
habitats (Marine, Forests). Non profit organisations have been trying for years with the government
and the community, to preserve and return the New Zealand environment to what it was before it was
touched. Before man or mammal was introduced to New Zealand, it was a haven for birds and reptiles
with no mammal predators. Now man and mammal have driven natives to almost extinction. It is
important that the government, community and local groups work together to preserve the
environment. In this report we will look at the different organisations in New Zealand that look after
the environment, the cultural influences that impact on these organisations. We will then address the
Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society and what they do and what they have done. Then we will
look at why it s important that the community is involved in conservation management.
What is a Non Profit Organisation in New Zealand and what Cultural Influences do they have?
What is a non profit organisation?
A non profit organisation is defined by five different standards.
1) Private this means that it is separate from the government institutionally.
2) Voluntary this means that the organisation must have a degree of voluntary participation. This can
be in either operation or management.
3) Non Profit distributing Not making a profit for their owners but rather putting the funds

The United States Victory in the Battle of the Philippine...
Dubbed the largest battle between aircraft carriers, the World War two, Battle of the Philippine Sea
was also the most lopsided modern naval victory ever. Like shooting fish in a barrel or a sitting duck
the United States forces easily shot Japanese planes out of the sky and sunk their ships. The object of
the battle was control of the Mariana Islands. The Japanese who had initiated the fight with us were
strategically using the islands in the Philippine Sea as a defense for their homeland. The United States
however also had a vested interest in these islands as they would help us project our forces into

On the other side the leaders of the Japanese Imperial Navy were Fleet commander Vice Admiral
Ozawa and Admiral Toyoda the commander in chief of the Japanese combined fleet.
Before fighting had even ensued our advantage in equipment and resources was evident. As quickly
had the Japanese Commander given his orders we knew what their move was because we had
decrypted all of their codes following Pearl Harbor. We also had a foot up on their location and
advancements because of our strategic placement of submarines. Americans soon learned the fleet s
location, and their submarines converged upon the area in such numbers that Ozawa dared not leave
port for maneuvers. His Aviators, who had been sent to the carriers with minimum basic training,
ceased training all together. This also contributed greatly to the lack of training Japanese soldiers
received.
In order to capture the Marianas islands the first order of business was to eliminate the Japanese land

bases in the Marianas [islands] virtually wiping out Japanese [land based] airpower. With this the
United States now held a definite advantage in manpower with 15 American flattops squaring off

The Plan For Aviation And Aerospace Industry
Describing the blueprint of a particular aviation career
Background
The aviation and aerospace is one promising front in terms of careers and opportunities. Just like any
industries in the 21st Century, aviation and aerospace industry is a complex one that requires skilled
labor in all of its ranks. The demand for the various job positions in the industry is motivated by both
inadequate skilled personnel and the rapidly increasing demand for the airline transport. From the
beginning, aviation opportunities were believed to be only piloting, engineering, and machine
operator. Well, as that notion is gradually fading, more and more opportunities are springing up in the

Finally, one needs to master their passion and to question the purposes for the career choice.
With the opportunities in the aviation industry in the open, it serves as a wakeup call for individuals to
pursue career choices that are aligned to aviation and aerospace industry. Among all the choices in this
industry, I particularly will single out one part of aviation system: the airline ground staff, most
specifically, the air traffic controller.
The air traffic controller job
Air traffic controllers are one of the most important airline ground staff members, tasked with the role
of keeping airlines separated when flying under instrument flight rules (Outlook, 2015). With the
changes taking place in the air traffic control all the time, this front is believed to be one of the most
lucrative job opportunities in the near future. It is a well paid career with a minimum requirement of a
standard four year degree qualification.
The entry requirements for this post would have varied details between airline companies but the
standard requirements are minimum distinction in secondary school certificate, with as in Math and
English as well as eligibility to work in the country that hosts the airline company. In most cases, the
respective airline companies provide training and certification programs for these positions.
However, before one is inducted into the air traffic controller programs, there are various aptitude,

The Alamo
To the people of Texas and all Americans in the World:

a soldier who never forgets what it is due to his honor and that of his country VICTORY OR DEATH.
This was a letter sent by William Barret Travis during the siege of the Alamo on February 24, 1836. It
was a cry for help to anybody and everybody willing to listen.
It all started in 1830 with Stephen Austin, a leader of American pioneers in the wild, living in Texas,
under the rule of the Mexican government, who had solved two major problems that the settlers had

In the fall of 1835 Santa Anna had sent more troops, under the leadership of his brother in law General
Martin Cos, to Texas in order to enforce the immigration laws. Austin and some soldiers had
surrounded settlements in Mexican territory and were considered by the government to be rebels.
Mexico had no choice but to attempt to use military forces.
Thirty thousand Texans were willing to fight against a nation of seven million. They did not receive
any government aid from the United States but sympathetic Southern states secretly sent troops.
The war began with battle of the Lexington of the Texas revolution taken place on October 2, 1835.
This little battle consisted of one hundred Mexican troops sent to Gonzales, a town east of San
Antonio, to order the settlers to surrender their only cannon. The soldiers said come and take it and
eventually they killed one Mexican soldier. The war had begun.
More and more Texans answered the call to arms such as Ben Milan a soldier of the War of 1812,

soldiers and congressmen. The name that would lead them all William Barrette Travis.

needed. People say dogs are for the most part loud and noisey. Just think about it if we were to build a

Richard III Research Paper
The Tragedy of Richard III by William Shakespeare depicts Richard III as a horrible, manipulative,
and power hungry monarch; not so much when he is a monarch, but in the events leading up to his
reign. Whether this interpretation of Richard is accurate will be determined through evidence that
either supports or denies Shakespeare s version of the events. Not mentioned in The Tragedy of
Richard III are all of the accomplishments that Richard succeeded in during his reign, considering that
he spent much of his time as king defending his throne. In December of 1483, Richard established the
Court of Requests. The Court of Requests was a place where poor people who did not have access to

Where blame is concerned, many of the sources, from the time Shakespeare was writing The Tragedy
of Richard III, that were reporting on Richard, had a consistent anti Ricardian bias. They could have
gathered the information and interviewed the necessary people to gain a more favorable view of
Richard, but they didn t. In the process, they overlooked lots of propaganda and postdated rewriting of
history (Hicks). Shakespeare wrote Richard as a Vice character because there was really no other
opposing viewpoint. In addition, when Shakespeare wrote The Tragedy of Richard III, Queen
Elizabeth I was the current ruler of England. Queen Elizabeth I was a descendant of King Henry VIII,
referred to in Shakespeare s play as Richmond, who is the man that overthrew Richard, and killed him
on Bosworth Field. The official party line of the Elizabethan era was that Richard was a monster who

Security Social Reform (SSR)
Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country
supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when the
United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used
to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job,
rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the
democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those
who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has
helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to
help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is
evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the targets/victims are not merely states
and security forces. (Ebo). The SSR is still trying to help the government and to some degree it has
been successful. Another case was in Iraq, when the Iraqi government had problems as Arnold
Luethold states, However, the Coalition Provisional Authority s (CPA) decision to dissolve all the
forces, including the police forces, without prior consultation with Iraqis, has met considerable
criticism in Iraq and abroad, for it was perceived to undermine Iraq s stability. (Luethold).

The Most Interesting Man In The World The author I have chosen is Ernest Hemingway, who is one of

journalist. Hemingway wrote a variety of novels. My favorites are For Whom the Bell Tolls, written in

Hemingway s works are often criticized and considered sexist, but I believe that they give us a

working for foreign correspondents the Star. While in Paris, Ernest Hemingway became the apprentice
for Gertrude Stein, an American novelist. Ernest made acquaintances with many great writers and
artist of the time, such as Ezra Pound, James Joyce, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pablo Picasso. In 1925,
the couple took a trip to the festival that would later provide the source of his first novel, The Sun Also
Rises (Biography.com Editors np). The book is widely considered his greatest work, artfully
examining the postwar disillusionment of his generation (Biography.com Editors np). After the release
of The Sun Also Rises, Ernest fell in love and had an affair with Pauline Pfeiffer, the woman that
would become his second wife shortly after his divorce. The couple decided to move back to America

Archetypes In How The Grinch Stole Christmas By Dr Seuss
How the Grinch stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss is about a character named Grinch who hates Christmas
and decides to ruin Christmas for the citizens of Whoville by stealing their gifts, food, and trees. The
school of thought I chose to analyse this poem is archetypal. Readers can find recurring symbols,
theme, characters, and images that are often found in many works of literature. The most common are
the archetypal conflicts and characters. One of the obvious archetypes in this poem is Good versus
Evil. The citizens of Whoville are thought to be good because they love Christmas and only needed
each other to celebrate it. The Grinch is considered to be evil for his plain s to foil Christmas. His
attitude and character do not help his case

Warpaint Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
The Power Of The Unknown
In Lord Of The Flies, the power of the warpaint, and the beast give jack great command over the other
children Do you remember Halloween when you were little? I do. I remember putting on a mask and
feeling powerful and confident. I think the same thing happens with Jack and his war paint transition.
War paint gives Jack power. In the novel, as soon as Jack changes his face using war paint, many
members of Ralph s tribe step up to follow jack in his new tribe. Without war paint Ralph seems to
just be a figurehead of a leader. He is the shell of what was the chief. Jack is now the new leader
because of his new instilled confidence.Even though Jack may not actually have the job of leader but,
he is already the leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you remember earlier in the book, Jack was told by Ralph to keep the signal fire burning. But instead
of thinking of the whole group like a good chief would, He only thought about himself and what he
wanted to do. Jack checked, vaguely irritated by this irrelevance but too happy to let it worry him.
(Golding 69). This quote helps show that Jack is not a good leader. He cares more about what he
wants than what the whole group wants making him the most irresponsible character in the book. With
Ralph actually being the most responsible character in the book ,He is definitely the rightful chief but
as we later learn, the right chief doesn t always get picked. Another example of Jack not being
responsible as a leader was when the circle chant took place. All at once, Robert was screaming and
struggling with the strength of frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing his knife. Behind
him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a
hunt. (Golding 114). This quote explains that if Jack were a proper leader he would not have let poor
Robert almost get killed. Jack didn t even try to stop the feeding frenzy that was the hunters. In
conclusion, with Jack s new power He does not take responsibility and is not a proper leader and is a
great danger to many of the young people on the

Dreams in Of Mice and Men
Of Mice and Men Dreams Of Mice and Men is set in Salinas, California in the 1930s Great
Depression. Life was hard and men could be cruel. Hope might be the only escape from hard reality.
This links to the American Dream represented in George and Lennie s dream of working hard and
getting their own land and farm, and control over their own lives. But it was harder than ever to
achieve due to the tough economic conditions of the Depression. After Lennie s death, it might be
possible for George to realise his dream, but the emptiness at the end of the novel shows that financial
success is nothing when you are lonely. So the dream is not just something to own, or possess, but also
something to share. Compassion and love , to Steinbeck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crooks final judgement is that never a God damn one of em ever gets it. The repetition of the absolute
never and ever , as well as the strong slang God damn emphasises how desperate life is. However, it is
not certain whether Steinbeck shares Crooks negative view. Crooks is an extreme character. His
language is hyperbole very extreme and relentlessly negative. Crooks phrase God damn suggests that
God has abandoned these men, in contrast to the biblical image of hope in George and Lennie s dream
of living off the fatta the land . The biblical imagery continues negatively when Crooks compares the
dream of land to being like Heaven the Christian idea of perfect bliss, not considered a physical reality
and which Crooks says is just as impossible to get as a piece of land. It s hard for George to keep
Lennie out of trouble and keep them on track for their dream. But when they tell Candy, it starts to
seem as if it might be possible. [needs evidence/ quotation/ language analysis] In an instant, Candy s
faith (and money) take them close to the ideal/dream becoming real. As the dream is shared, or heard
by more people, the more it seems that together they might make it come true. Even the ultra negative
Crooks starts to believe.[needs evidence/ quotation/ language analysis] But all the time, Steinbeck has
built up a foreboding feeling, that this world is hard and horrible

Chapter Summary For Killer Angels KILLER ANGELS AUTHOR: MICHAEL SHAARA Set in the American Civil War, Killer Angels gives the viewpoints of four Generals (Generals Lee Longstreet from the South and Generals Chamberlain Buford from the Union) as they fight through the battle of Gettysburg. The year is 1863. The American Civil War has dragged on for over two years. For most of the war the South has been playing defense in their own background, using maneuvers and tactics to gain impressive victories over the far superior Union Army. General Meade has been thrust into command of the Army of the Potomac. President Lincoln faces heat in Washington and his reelection is in doubt. The time is now for General Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia to go on the offense and end the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He attempts to gather all his divisions together and begin his offensive campaign against General Meade s armies. On the Union side, General Buford engages Lee s forces until dusk in order to hold off their advances and allow his men to keep the high ground and gain a strategic advantage. It appears that Lee has gained a major victory at this point since Buford ran to the hills . Day two dawns with General Longstreet trying to convince Lee that the Army of Northern Virginia is not built to go on the offensive and that a full on assault campaign will ruin the Army. Lee pays no heed. General Chamberlain and his Maine Men are the end of the Union Line and successfully holds off a far superior Confederate assault and keep the high ground. On the third and final day of the battle, General Lee commits the greatest folly of his illustrious career. Again dismissing the pleas of Longstreet, Lee sends General Pickett and his division across an open field to attack the Union position. To this day, military historians are unsure why Lee sent Picket on this suicide mission. Pickett s Charge led to catastrophic losses for the Confederate Army and a shocked General Lee was forced to call retreat. Thus ended the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War and effectively ended the war for all intents and purposes (although the war would rage on for another year and a half). The Army of Northern Virginia would never again make a serious venture into the Northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The average callers in the system not only contain the customers who are on the call, but also include those customers who are waiting in the queue. Issue 3 Is Psychological Debriefing a Harmful Intervention for Survivors of Trauma? 1. What are at least two facts presented by each side of the critical issue? Devilly Cotton who represent the con side of the agreement present many different facts. Two that stand out is: that psychological debriefing . . . more of a moral maintenance intervention qua gesture of employer support, rather than a clinical intervention influencing distress and clinical symptomatolgy. I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show the differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. As well as defining what psychology debriefing entails. Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to do much deep research for other papers written on the topic. 5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer. Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many different forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. Also how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing. Therefore it is hard to tell the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two systems work and the outcomes of such programs. Mitchell was credible in from the first paragraph notes that In 1983 I wrote the first article ever written on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. . . (Halgin, 2009, p. 78). Excitatory presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the postsynaptic cell because they promote depolarization of membrane which is needed to cause an action potential. On the other hand Inhibitory presynaptic cell promote hyperpolarization which goes against producing an action potential. b. What phenomena must take place for the small postsynaptic potentials to reach threshold and produce action potentials? Summation of Excitatory postsynaptic potential and Inhibitory postsynaptic potential must take place. • 9. Role Of The Anterior Cruciate Ligament Most people will never understand the many complexities of the world. The same can be said about the human body and the different structures that work together to produce movement. Some people who desire to be in highly competitive sporting environments, will attest to the excruciatingly painful, life altering moment when they were engaged in play and heard the quintessential pop sound from their knee and they are immediately falling to the floor unable to move that knee. This is usually followed by a diagnosis of an anterior cruciate ligament tear and within a few weeks, surgical methods must be taken if the athlete wishes to return to their sport at the same high level. This paper will seek to properly define what the role of the anterior cruciate ligament (more commonly called the ACL) is, shed light on the procedures necessary for an athlete to return to play, and analyze data found through research to determine the likelihood of re injury and, therefore, the effectiveness of ACL surgery. It is our contention that RM is inherently an ethical activity, since enduring relationships cannot be built or sustained without a solid moral foundation. Before moving on, it is important to deļ¬ne and clarify our view of relationship marketing. As Kotler and Keller (2006), Gummesson (1999) and others have stated, RM has the aim of building mutually satisfying long term relations with key parties customers, suppliers, distributors in order to earn and retain their businesses. Norberg (2001) listed 14 deļ¬nitions of RM taken from the literature during the last 15 years. Most of the deļ¬nitions indicate that there are separate phases of a relationship such as its foundation and maintenance. Furthermore, elements like trust, equity and involvement tend to foster this bond and contribute to long term partner satisfaction. This paper is divided into four parts. First, we examine the historical roots of relationship marketing. The second section characterizes both the American and European views on RM. Third, we present a model of ethical relationship marketing and discuss its components. Within the model, the theory of virtue and several relevant virtues that we believe are essential for successful RM are examined. In the subsequent discussion, we lay the groundwork for those who might attempt to measure the presence of these characteristics in business and consumer partnerships that have been claimed to be successful. Whether this interpretation of Richard is accurate will be determined through evidence that either supports or denies Shakespeare s version of the events. Not mentioned in The Tragedy of Richard III are all of the accomplishments that Richard succeeded in during his reign, considering that he spent much of his time as king defending his throne. In the process, they overlooked lots of propaganda and postdated rewriting of history (Hicks). Shakespeare wrote Richard as a Vice character because there was really no other opposing viewpoint. In addition, when Shakespeare wrote The Tragedy of Richard III, Queen Elizabeth I was the current ruler of England. Queen Elizabeth I was a descendant of King Henry VIII, referred to in Shakespeare s play as Richmond, who is the man that overthrew Richard, and killed him on Bosworth Field. • 40. Security Social Reform (SSR) Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when the United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job, rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the targets/victims are not merely states and security forces. He was an American novelist, short story writer, and journalist. Hemingway wrote a variety of novels. My favorites are For Whom the Bell Tolls, written in 1940, A Farewell to Arms, written in 1929, and The Sun Also Rises, written in 1926. Most of Hemingway s works are often criticized and considered sexist, but I believe that they give us a glimpse from a man s perspective of what life was like during his lifetime. In the novel, as soon as Jack changes his face using war paint, many members of Ralph s tribe step up to follow jack in his new tribe. Jack checked, vaguely irritated by this irrelevance but too happy to let it worry him. (Golding 69). This quote helps show that Jack is not a good leader. He cares more about what he wants than what the whole group wants making him the most irresponsible character in the book. With Ralph actually being the most responsible character in the book ,He is definitely the rightful chief but as we later learn, the right chief doesn t always get picked. Another example of Jack not being responsible as a leader was when the circle chant took place. All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing his knife. Behind him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt. (Golding 114). This quote explains that if Jack were a proper leader he would not have let poor Robert almost get killed. Jack didn t even try to stop the feeding frenzy that was the hunters. Crooks phrase God damn suggests that God has abandoned these men, in contrast to the biblical image of hope in George and Lennie s dream of living off the fatta the land .
