This document outlines a research proposal that will study the part time earning strategies of Dhaka University students. The proposal includes an abstract, introduction, objectives, literature review, hypotheses, research questions, research design, data analysis plan, anticipated timeline and budget, and ethical considerations. The study aims to survey 200 students from each of the university's four faculties about their current part time employment preferences and needs, and to identify new employment opportunities and training that could be provided.

4. Abstract:
The research is on part time earning strategies of
Dhaka university students, present status and
their preferences about the working pattern and
time limit. 200 students from each of the four
faculties are to be chosen as respondent.
Implementation of new opportunities and
arranging training is the main purpose of the
study.

5. Introduction:
Most of the University students prefer to do something for
earning to maintain their expenditure. Students from poor
and middle class families are verily in need of earning
during studentship to continue their academic study. But,
maximum job fields are for full day workers in which there
is no scope to attend classes. So students go for tuition
and other part time jobs to work for a maximum of 4-6
hours.
Students prefer private tuition as part time earning way as
there is no requirement of long period of time. Sometimes
they don’t find any other way rather than this. Sometimes
they go for evening jobs to any organization which may be
of tough bindings. These jobs can also make hamper to
their studies. Many oppose to students’ earning with the
opinion that it can have bad impact on their academic
result. The study is about different earning strategies of
students with their choice and impact and finding a better

the basis of needs

7. Literature review:
To conduct the research, we have reviewed a number
of works done on this topic. We have searched for
online journals, articles, research report on students
in earning. We have searched for the professional
choices of students throughout the world. There is no
such relevant thing in Bangladesh perspectives, but
US and UK have a number of research articles on this
topic. University students involved in part time
employment have been the focus of studies in the UK
for a number of years. (Curtis and Lucas 2001; Kelly,
1999; Lucas and Lammont , 1998; Watts and
Pickering, 2000). The negative effects on academic
progress of full time students involving in part time
activities have described by Watts and
Pickering,2000. Lucas and Lammont focused on

8. Hypothesis:
Maximum students are willing for earning during
student life, but a greater number of them do not
get the proper opportunity due to lack of specific
professional knowledge

9. Research questions:
Which type of jobs are suitable for students?
What does a student chose for his/her part time
earning?
For how many hours he/she is willing to work for
earning purpose?
Does he/she want to receive any professional
training?
Which type of training will be more effective for
students?

10. Research Design:
Methodology - The research will take place in
survey method. Qualitative data will be gathered
for this research. Our ultimate goal is to reach to
the students of different faculty of Dhaka
University and get introduced to their part time
earning strategies along with their opinion to
improve that without hampering their study. So,
we have decided to make a brief qualitative
survey.

11. Research design(….):
Data Collection Technique -Data will be
gathered with structured questionnaires which will
contain approximately 12 questions. Ten of them
will be selective and the rest two will be
descriptive with opinions.
Sampling - Samples will be chosen faculty wise.
We have decided to reach the four individual
faculties of Dhaka University and then chose the
interviewees in simple random sampling. At least
200 students will be chosen as respondent from
each of the faculties.

12. Data analysis:
The major part of the data received will be
analyzed using both descriptive statistical method
and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences
(SPSS). Opinions will be viewed manually to get
a clear concept and make a decision.

15. Ethical consideration:
All respondent will be informed about the purpose
of the study and their verbal consent will be
obtained before the interview or information will
be kept anonymous and confidential. None of
them will be forced to attend the research.
