This document summarizes an action research project that investigated the English writing skills of tertiary level students in colleges in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The researcher aimed to assess students' writing abilities and identify problems. Tests of students' writing found issues with vocabulary, structure, and cohesion. However, when taught writing methods tailored to their needs, most students improved. The researcher conducted the study using the model of action research, which aims to solve real problems through cycles of identifying issues, planning interventions, taking action, and evaluating outcomes to continually improve teaching and learning.
