Power In Fahrenheit 451
Society s Tools to Control Us
How society controls individuals is seen in everyday life in most places that any person may visit on
an average day. The book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, written in 1953, is set in in the future. The
book s concept is about how books were banned and it explained how life was changed without books.
It has many fictional examples of how society controls individuals in real life even today. However,
they might be seen as slightly exaggerated. There are many documentaries and articles that explain
and warn of the power society can have over an individual, and how the people must guard themselves
against it. Society controlling individuals is shown Fahrenheit 451 and the modern world through
media, peer pressure, and ignorance about society s power.
The media controlling individuals through society is not a new subject. Advertisements, shows, and
news all influencing what each individual thinks about the world and in turn allowing power over the
people engaged with it. So what is power? How exactly does it affect me? Well, Carnegie Endowment
for International Peace explains it as Power is the ability of one party [or an individual] to make
another party do, or stop doing, something. (Naím, Moisés. Why Power Is Decaying in the Modern
World ). Simply put this can also be explained as power being in control over another thing. This is
shown in Fahrenheit 451 in Mildred s (,the main character s wife,) and her friends interaction

The Voyage Out Analysis
In The Voyage Out by Morley Callaghan, he is making a critique of the way men use the male gaze,
and how it makes women feel. Jeff who is in a state of excitement is trying to figure out his identity
and what the male gaze does for him; the male gaze affects Jeff s life through Jessie, the girl in the
green hat, and Eva and how his looking upon them makes them feel.
Jessie affects Jeff in a way that captivates him and makes him excited. Our first description of Jessie
is, [Jeff] discovered she as neat and pretty, he began to watch her furtively ... when she got up to go,
he followed her out (46). Jeff is his exerting his use of the male gaze and staring at Jessie. Jessie
seems to enjoy Jeff s male gaze and returns his affections, she suddenly put her arms tight around him,
lifted up her face, held him as if she would never let him go, and let him know she was offering him
all her love (47). Jessie gives Jeff exactly what he wants, almost; but even the thought that Jessie is
willing to sleep with him has him basking in, his own triumphant importance (47). The male gaze
works in Jeff s benefit in his situation with Jessie, and Jessie appears to be accepting of the male gaze.
With the girl in green hat there is an alternate side to the male gaze. Mike a man older than Jeff and a
man that Jeff is, yearning to possess [his] wisdom (49). While Mike and Jeff are sitting in a restaurant,
Jeff notices two young women. Mike declares that, she s a cinch, (48) towards the

Associate Degree Nursing as Compared to Baccalaureate...
Since the inception of the Associate Degree in Nursing there has been research and discussion as to
whether this degree should continue. This is due to the adversity in the level of competency between
the two. Current popular thought is that the entry level into nursing should be the Bachelor of Science
in nursing bringing the increase in the complexity of the medical arena and its every changing makeup
to the professional level of the Baccalaureate Degree. It has been shown that a nurse s level of
education can become a major factor to the safety and quality of care of their patients because of this
there has been an increase in studies over the years that directly examine patient outcomes in similar
situations between Associate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The studies have shown that nurses that have gone thru the baccalaureate program have a higher
degree in articulation and problem deciphering abilities (Johnson, 1988) and are more proficient in
their ability with nursing diagnosis along with the evaluation of nursing interventions (Geiger
Davidhisar, 1990). Research further shows that those registered nurses that have obtained their
degrees at the associate degree and diploma levels have an increase in their level of skills when
completing a BSN degree. When comparing RN to BSN graduates from the years 1995 to 1998 it was
(Rosseter, 2010, para. 24) shown that these students had a higher competency in nursing process,
articulation, management, professional integration and analysis/dissemination (Phillips, C.Y., Palmer,
C.V., Zimmerman, B.J. Mayfield, M. 2002). All the above studies seem to agree that when a BSN is
involved in patient care there is a greater chance the patient outcome will be more positive than when
the same patient in the same situation is taken care of by an ADN. The reasoning appears to be that
with their higher education the BSN has an enhanced degree of assessment skills. This then allows for
better critical thinking abilities. These two

Harmony s Seminar Sparknotes
After watching the documentary for Harmony s seminar, I simply could not brainstorm about anything
else. The chilling display of female repression is all that I have been able to think about. I have never
seen something that made me feel physically ill before and the after effects of watching this have not
led up. I am full of a deep mixture of rage and grief when reflecting upon the systems deeply
embedded within the fabric of India s culture. Though it must be said that brutality is not limited to the
borders of India as Aboriginal women suffer in present day Canada.
Almost equal with the women of India, Aboriginal women have been struggling against racism,
sexism, and domestic violence since the dawn of colonialism (explorers brought with them their
patriarchal social codes and beliefs). They are faced with a double burden for being female and a
minority. Emma LaRocque, a Metis woman and professor of Native Studies at the University of
Manitoba writes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was shocked when one of the lawyers said something along the lines of Oh, we have a great culture,
and in our culture there is no place for females but anyone who believes this who has a
mother/sister/daughter is essentially turning a blind eye to what happened and are perpetuating the
male oriented status quo. Children in India and on First Nation reserves cannot continue to be raised
believing that it is okay to disrespect, beat, rape, or kill women. The brutality shown in the film
requires an extreme sense of malignancy that could only be found in the deranged. I think you can
educate men to respect women and educate women on self defense but a great deal of the
education/socio economic background talk is of no use because it really comes down to basic human
goodness, compassion, empathy, and

The Help Character Analysis Essay
The Help Character Analysis
Did you know that when you were a girl, growing up, that one day you d be a maid? Yes ma am. Yes I
did (Stockett 169). The Help by Kathryn Stockett is a story about Aibileen Clark, a black housemaid,
and Eugenia, Skeeter Phelan, coming together to write a novel about how black maids are treated
good and bad by their white employers in their hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. Aibileen shows a
lot of change throughout the story, evolving from reserved, to progressive, and finally, to content.
The first character trait Aibileen shows is being reserved. Elizabeth Leefolt, who is Aibileen s
employer, was discussing with her best friend, Hilly Holbrook, about how colored people residing in
white households should have to have to use white bathrooms. Aibileen overhears this, and is angered,
she strongly disagrees with segregation. I m surprised by how tight my throat get. It s a shame I
learned to keep down a long time ago (Stockett 10). This quote reveals how Aibileen has been treated
by others in the past. She holds her tongue because she knows that speaking out will get her into a lot
of trouble. This is significant because it shows how the actions of bigoted whites have impacted how

colored people ain t the same. But we still just people (Stockett 218). This quote reveals how Aibileen
feels about how colored people are treated in Jackson. She is speaking out on her opinion that while
white and colored people have differences, they are all still people. She has evolved from being
reserved because she speaks out when she has something to say and does not keep it to

Analysis Of 911 By Michael Burke
Hero. A word that has 7.442 billion different definitions and or examples. An author named Michael
Burke; a writer for the Wall Street Journal, writes to persuade wealthy people who have a strong
influence on the daily world to recognize a problem that happens yearly on a single date.9/11. First
responders or better known as the heros of 9/11 were sent to a different location to watch their own
ceremony at ground zero, all while congressmen sit and take their seats at the real ceremony. This all
arises due to the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9/11. He builds his argument through the use of
organization and pathos.
First and foremost, it was thought that Mr. Burke would never get his his point across. This is what
makes his organization so important. Burke drags his thesis out to three quarter of the article at a point
which he switch his focus to the real point at hand. For weeks ordinary New Yorkers and visitors from
out of town attended there hundreds of memorial services across the city and area suburbs... Fifth
Avenue New York s main street came to a halt Right after the horrific event people everywhere were
mourning the loss of thousands including the lives of first responders. This quote or changing point
marks the start of the real point of the article. To this day it should be assumed that they would be
honored at ground zero at a memorial yearly to thank them for their sacrifices and thank the families
of the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice. But as Burke

Danger of Deforestation
The Danger of Deforestation(rough draft) By Chenghao Chen
ENGL 289
Mrs. Michelle Graf
7/1/2012
It is obvious the importance of the forest vegetation to everyone in the society. However, people in the
past ages did a kind of thing that they thought was very meaningful cutting down the trees. When they
recall this history, most of them cannot be restrained from their remorse and guilty to it. Trees or forest
are things that not only protect the environment but also help people to live better. Destroy of forest
and deforestation brings a great many of harm to the environments as well as people in the world.
It is believed that forest is significantly important to both the environment and people s life. The
importance of forest can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So there were many people took their tools to cut trees in 1990s in China. It was just like a fashion
trend. They may use wood to produce furniture, houses, boats and they need more space to do farm
work. Therefore, they have to cut trees to make it happen. Study on the main reason for deforestation
is vital to the survey on the change of the forest land. The main reasons for deforestation are from two
aspects, one is the state owned forest area, and the other is collective forest area (John amp;Richard
1988). In fact, the amount of state owned forest area is much larger than collective forest area. The
ecological as well as financial crisis caused by the deforestation has also stayed for quite a long time.
The reasons for ecological and financial crisis in state owned forest area can be analyzed from several
aspects such as, firstly, the excessive growth of the population in state owned forest area, which makes
the overburdened of the enterprises of state owned forest area. There are about 1.3 million work forces
in state owned forest area, which may composed of one third the surplus work force this year.
Secondly, over use of the forest under the administration of state owned forest enterprises. Thirdly, the
administration systems of state owned forest enterprises perform practically no function. There are
also two reasons for the deforestation in collective forest area. Firstly, the reform of

Fairy Legends Essay
Fairy legends have been around from time immemorial in Ireland and several other countries. These
legends have been an important part of Irish life and culture. A legend, in contrast to folklore, is meant
to inform and reinforce beliefs. Legends are less about fiction and the unbelievable, and more about
the ordinary. The fairy legends in Ireland are abundant, as there are many different tales that describe
fairies and their habits distinctly. A large portion of these legends have been told orally, so
documenting them is difficult. In modern films and stories, such as Disney, fairies are generally
portrayed as being kind and helpful to humans, but according to Irish legend, fairies are not always
benevolent creatures. The tales involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, fairies offer gifts to humans. In the tale, The Little Herd Girl and the Woman from Cnoc
Aine in Fairy Legends from Donegal, a little girl is lured off by a fairy woman playing the harp and
into a fine castle. She has some bread and is sent off back home. Prior to leaving, she is given a coin to
give to her widowed mother. It is said that from then onward, her mother was never wanting for
money for the rest of her life. In another story called The Three Sneezes from the same source, a wife
is almost taken by fairies at her wedding, but a man blessed her and she was safe aside from becoming
deaf and dumb. When the same man later walked by a couple of fairies, he heard them tell him of a
cure for the woman s deafness and dumbness. He found the herb, and the woman was cured and well
once again. These tales might have been to give hope to those that were impoverished or ill. The good
fortune given by fairies in these legends are reflective of human desire. Common themes of these
types of legends include endless fortune, magical powers, particularly bountiful harvest or healthy
livestock, and goods supplied mysteriously. However, although some dealings with fairies might lead
to good fortune or health, some people chose to avoid these dealings due to the fact that fairies can be
manipulative. Fairy gifts can be extraordinary, but taken away if the receiver does wrong by the fairies
or breaks an agreement. One unfortunate tale of an Irish piper details this. The Irish piper overheard a
beautiful fairy song, and was given the gift of playing the melody by this fairy. However, the fairy told
him that he was only allowed to play it three times before a live audience. The piper obeyed the fairy s
rule, until one night during a competition, he played the melody a fourth time in order to win. The
instant he was crowned, he fell dead on the stage because of his

Different Types Of Art Movements Essay
Throughout the years many different types of art movements were being introduced. Some may be
more common to some people while others are not as popular. The Renaissance movement is the most
commonly known by the people. The term Renaissance means rebirth and it was introduced in the
early 14th century. The movement took place in Europe, however, the majority of the movement
began in Italy. There was a northern Renaissance and a southern Renaissance. In the northern
Renaissance, artists put more effort on the details of their artwork rather than focusing on making it
realistic. The two main themes were individual expression and worldly experience. During this period,
Europeans had the interest in the values of ancient Greece and Rome and described it as the
reawakening of the culture. Therefore, the term Renaissance was used for the movement. As the
movement progressed, it increased political stability, economic growth, education, and
cosmopolitanism. In addition, the study of language, literature, history, and philosophy began to
expand as knowledge increased. As a result, the Renaissance movement can be described as a great
influence on society. Eventually, the Renaissance movement led to humanism which focused on the
unique values of a person. Artists introduced many unique ideas during the Renaissance movement
which became a success to the society.
During the Renaissance movement, Leonardo da Vinci was considered to be the Renaissance man.

The Great Reset By Richard Florida
The Great Reset by Richard Florida discusses the many issues that have occurred due to various
recessions and depressions. The book provides an outlook and realistic perspective on how he
perceives the current crisis will play out. Florida states that the new normal will not be as focused on
cars, houses, and suburbs. We will not be as centered on the ownership society which George W. Bush
discussed. This is an upsetting realization. Owning a house is not what it used to be. Growing up,
owning a house was a big dream of mine. With a new economy like we are in, owning a house tends
to be more of a hindrance. I can understand where his point of view is coming from. In today s society
you have to be able to have a flexibility, which sometimes involves moving to a new place. Renting
houses or apartments is going to become the greater choice. Many of the resets in the past have
recovered and actually brought about some good aspects. For instance, the first reset gave us a
technological revolution where energy systems were created and many crucial inventions were made.
This reset also helped in terms of transportation. Transit systems became an important mode of
transportation and they have become such an important mode of transportation in big cities. Through
these times of reset, there has been a large increase in immigration. Although many people viewed this
as another way for jobs to be taken away, it has had beneficial aspects. Many cities grew larger and

Jealous Female Relationships
When Buss did the study, he found out during a jealous relationship males were more concern with
their partner Sexual faithfulness while, and women were more concern with the emotional intimacy
aspect of it. Men are universally worried about paternity certainty (hence, his mate s sexual fidelity is
his main concern) while women will feel more threatened by any emotional intimacy. (Sex At Dawn

emotional intimacy. Women and Men differed by 35%, and women were more towards the emotions
that may grow with their partner and another person. On the other side, men continued to be upset on

No, I don t think they experience Jealousy different. I think men and women both can experience
jealousy the same way. Jealousy should not differ because of your gender. The reason I say that is that
BOTH can feel emotionally hurt if their partner falls in love with someone else. They both can have
the same negative thought pattern to get back at the spouse. What makes it appear as though they are
experiencing jealous different is caused by environment factors. They are both expect generation after
generation to be a certain way. Males were always the head of the house, while the women cook,
clean, and look after the children. Those roles already created a set personality for how men and
women should act in a relationship. Times have changed but the controlling aspect along with
insecure, negative emotions haven t. Thus, when put into a situation where their emotions get the best

Kinsey s View Of Eugenics
In the article, author Vern L. Bullough provided an in depth look at the research done by sexologist
Alfred Kinsey and explaining the contributions he made in the field. The article claimed how Kinsey
studied taboo topics and interviewed his students about their lives, a practice never conceived of being
done before. The author explained how Kinsley s controversial work was challenged by Thurman
Rice, a, bacteriology professor who had written extensively on sex, primarily from the view of
eugenics (Bullough 56). These claims were meant to display how society viewed sex as a topic that
was not an area of interest for many, but the research done by Kinsley helped push the boundary on
the topic and inspire other sexologists to pursue the field. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the findings from other professionals in the field, he made his arguments more convincing

Karl Menninger to display how his views were scrutinized by others. Menninger believed that Kinsley
s, compulsion to force human sexual behavior in zoological frame of reference leads him to repudiate
or neglect human psychology, and to see normality as that which is natural in the sense that it is what
is practiced by animals (58). This was the only quote directly from someone in the field, but it was
effective in displaying how Kinsley s theories were revolutionary to how the study was sexuality was
approached. The evidence used in the article was both convincing and relevant to the topic at hand.

Pop R B Group Destiny s Child Before Embarking On A...
One of the most recognizable figures in contemporary music, Beyoncé rose to fame as the central
member of pop R B group Destiny s Child before embarking on a multi platinum, record breaking
solo career in 2001. Booming record sales, Grammy awards, movie roles, and marriage to rapper/CEO
Jay Z combined to heighten her profile in the 2000s. Billboard named her female artist of the decade,
while the RIAA acknowledged that, through 64 gold and platinum certifications, she was the decade s
top selling artist. Once she released her fifth solo album in 2013, it was evident that the singer,
songwriter, and dancer wasn t merely an entertainer but a progressive artist as well. Born in Houston
in September 1981, Beyoncé+¬ Giselle Knowles began performing at age seven, winning over 30
local competitions for her dancing and vocal abilities. She joined her cousin Kelly Rowland and
classmates LaTavia Roberson and LaToya Luckett in forming an adolescent vocal group. Mathew
Knowles, Beyoncé+¬ s father and Rowland s legal guardian, signed on to be the girls manager,
eventually quitting his full time job to focus on their efforts. This situation would ultimately lead to
the creation of one of the most popular female R B groups of all time Destiny s Child. Destiny s Child
gained momentum throughout the 90s. They appeared on Star Search in 1992 (under the name Girls
Tyme) and weathered several lineup changes before signing to Columbia in 1997. Four studio albums

Paradox Of Thrift And Its Effect On The Economy
To have an opinion on whether Paradox of Thrift has an effect on the economy you must understand
what is the meaning and effect on the economy. Paradox of Thrift is an economic theory, which posits
that personal savings are a net drag on the economy during a recession (Investopedia). Therefore,
instead of saving during a recession, the paradox states that savings should be spend instead of saved.
This goes along the theory with the government increase spending will have an overall effect on the
economy. Theories go along the line of lowering interest and the same time lower savings rate will
make saving less profit. It this is the case, then people will decrease the amount they put away and put
it instead back into the economy. My opinion

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to measure the effect one minute of physical activity would have
on a subject s blood pressure. In this experiment, physical activity is defined as stair climbing at a

ABSTRACT
Designing and embedding a watermark for VoIP is the main goal of this paper, A new model is
introduced and characterized by high robustness, high security and must be non perceptual. The
watermarking model is suitable for real time service and supports the needs of embedding the
watermark into the traffic of VoIP and its extraction additionally this model offers authentication and
integrity. The model based on digital watermarking and steganography. Another factor was taken in
consideration; the amount of data used and its influence on the voice quality of service. the model is
implemented using C# code for both embedding and extracting the watermarking spite of the intended
cheating mechanisms that might complicate the send/receive conditions. In addition, the model
performance has confirmed its robustness and quality of service.

Primary Sources In O Brien s The Things They Carried
According to the Library of Illinois, primary sources of information are those that provide first hand
accounts of the events, practices, or conditions you are researching. There is no portion about
reliability or the significance of truth within the explanation of a primary historical source. O Brien s
recollection of his first hand experience in the Vietnam war is a good primary source because
highlights the collective consciousness of America during the war, the collective memory of the
soldiers who fought, and the emotional things they had to carry with them through the remainder of
their lives.
O Brien fought in the war and named his fictional character after himself. It is the truth of his real life
juxtaposed to the truth in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any war story, but especially a true one, it s difficult to separate what happened from what seemed
to happen....The angles of vision are skewed (71). What O Brien thought seemed to have happened
therefore becomes his truth.
All primary sources are subjective; they are based on the source s recollection and how it is
remembered in their own memory. The importance of storytelling is one of the main premises in the
Things They Carried. Telling a story is an illustration of memory, and memory is prejudice. By telling
stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths
(158). Each soldier is going to have different memories, but most of their experiences are so similar
they seem to form a universal truth and a collective memory of all their stories.
O Brien s unification of fact and fiction is to illustrate the idea in which the real accuracy of a war
story is less significant than storytelling. The subjective truth about what the war meant and what it
did to change the soldiers is more meaningful than the technical details of the

Facilitating Change in Health and Social Care Essay
Introduction
This essay seeks to discuss the factors that facilitate change in health and social care. This can be
achieved by assessing the challenges that the major factors of change bring using the Care Quality
Commission of the Quality Care Commission for the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust (RUHB).
The second task aims to evaluate contemporary changes being inaugurated in the provision of health
and social care services. In addition to this, a strategy and criteria will be devised in order to measure
these recent changes including how the impact of these changes can be measured and evaluated.

The NHS Operating Framework introduced by the coalition government sets out the planning and
financial requirements for RUHB in 2012/13 and the basis of their accountability (DH, 2012). As a
result, the 2013 certified that funding for health in England be frozen for up 2015/16 thereby requiring
RUBH to underspend allocated funding from the government such as putting a 1% cap on pay award.
Socially, this will include factors such as behavior of staff and service users, partnership working,
quality of care, etc. These factors can drive change in diverse ways in the RUHB. For example, the
NICE Guidelines on Behavior Change make recommendations on individual level behavior
interventions that is aimed at changing the behavior that can be dangerous to the health of staff and
service users such as smoking, alcohol abuse, lack of physical activity, safe sex, etc. (NICE, 2014).
Technologically, the introduction of information communication technology has resulted in faster
communication, appropriate storing and sharing of information and records of service users between
health and social care professionals. As a result of the CQC inspection, the RUHB revises their health
records management policy to more accurately reflect where information about service user such as
fluid intake and output in each ward should be recorded (CQC Report, 2013)

he hates that.
As far as this goes he never has sympathy for anybody no matter who you are. I think it started with
his dad and how people would say he was the worst and he never did anything so Okonkwo Decided
not to go that road so he made something of himself but little as he knows he changed for the worst
and not the better. Throughout this book somebody is always either getting hurt being saved or just
dying and make at of it is from Okonkwo. That should tell you a lot about his character and who he is.
Okonkwo has done a lot but being nice isn t one of them he is a strong and huge man when he walks

Black Lives Matter Leadership
All the great political movements succeeded due to the leaders behind them who directed the focus of
their supporters to achieve the respective goal. Although, currently the founders of the Black Lives
Matter believe that it is not in the interest of this movement to have a central face, it is inevitable for
this great movement to have a brave leader. Times have significantly changed since the Civil Rights
movement, but Black Lives Matter needs a leader like Malcolm X, who was outspoken in his ideas so
this movement can successfully tackle complex, modern political systems and achieve its goals.

Race is an artificial social construction rooted in the structural dynamics of exploitation, power and
privilege that was forced upon original residents of colonies at the outset of the expansion of European
capitalism. (Marable) For most Americans, present day America still remains segregated as a result of
discrimination which throughout history has been used in a direct behavior against African American
people. Race according to Marable is an artificial construction, however, its impacts are real and
devastating as it stops the American nation from maximizing its potential, by discriminating most of
the times against the best suited candidates in various fields. When coupled with social anarchy
resulting from racism, it marks the political tension in the community. Many scholars have argued that
race is a critical element in the formation of political ideology, (Rueter) and it can be backed by
evidence from the on going US presidential race in 2016 for both Democrats and Republicans where
race serves as the issue which would play role in determining the 45th US

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad vs. Things Fall Apart...
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe are two novellas
written to make a statement about the struggles of early societies. Both stories stir up moments of
hope, anger, disappointment, despair, and enlightenment in an attempt to inform the reader of the
injustices and societal differences during the 1800 s. Heart of Darkness tells the story from a European
Colonist perspective while Things Fall Apart illustrates the outlook of the African tribe member being
colonized. Throughout this piece I will investigate these unique texts in hopes of revealing the
symbolism behind the trying stories. I will compare and contrast the narratives and decipher the
outlooks so that the reader can learn to appreciate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some clan members, however, do rebel and burn some of the preachers shelters. This results in a big
meeting, both European and African. At the gathering the tribe members are told to decease from any
future acts of destruction or rebellion. Expecting his fellow people to support him, Okonkwo kills their
leader with his machete. However, when the crowd allows the other Europeans to escape, Okonkwo
realizes that his clan is not willing to go to war. Soon after the murder, Okonkwo prideful character,
and inability to accept defeat, results in his suicide. Heart of Darkness and Things Fall Apart
exemplify two different perspectives of African Literature. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad
shows the African Culture through the eyes of the white man or colonizing Europeans. In this story the
native Africans are depicted as vicious savages.
In response to Conrad s stereotypical depiction of Africans, Chinua Achebe wrote Things Fall Apart
through the point of view of the natives to show Africans, not as primitives, but as members of a
thriving society. Things Fall Apart follows Okonkwo s life as he strives for prestige in his community.
When European missionaries come to Umuofia, Okonkwo s clan, Okonkwo tries to protect the culture
that the missionaries would destroy in the name of civilizing the natives. However his rigid mentality
and violent behavior has the opposite of its intended effect, perpetuating the stereotype of the wild

of light, light in space, light intensity and how to detect and measure the light transmitted. Light
intensity is the amount of energy transmitted from a light source and in this lab report I will be
focusing on one particular factor which affects the light intensity measured by the Coach Lab light

Since this graph does not show any outliers, I thought that the line of best fit should be polynomial
since the polynomial curve. I think this because the curve passes through most of the data points and is
the closest R2. These are a bigger difference in the value of 0,02 cm and 0,04 cm. I think this
happened because the holes that were being blocked by the overlapping of the cloth in value 0,04 were
more than in the value of 0,02 cm. The more holes getting blocked by the overlapping of the cloth will
cause the light to not be able to pass through which then causes the results to be low. This is a pattern
that we also can see. Starting form value 0,04 to 0,10 then results do not have as big of a difference as

Black Power Mixtape Analysis
The Black Power Mixtape follows momentous events between 1965 and 1975. It is directed by two
Swedish directors, and their nationality is very important for the layout of the film. The film takes
place during the Civil Rights Movement, and included leaders such as Stokely Carmichael, Angela
Davis, Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers. This was also during the time of the Vietnam War, whom
Sweden saw a useless war. The heads of this country were the Nixon Administration, and Lyndon
Johnson s administration. Furthermore, The Black Power Mixtape included world renowned artists
such as Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli. I had no clue they were so educated on these matters. Also, the
author of our classes textbook, Robin Kelley, spoke. The compilation of information and video
footage was unbiased and fact based. The Black Panther movement was more of the focal point of the
film. This was a pivotal time in American history; as seen through foreign eyes. Also, this is my first
encounter with a foreign perspective of the United States during the Civil Rights Movement. Coming
up in school, no one ever taught me any other perspective on this part of American history. There s no
way possible they could compile ten years worth of events into two hours, but the directors included
information that I have never read before. Next, the era of black power highlighted black nationalism,

Prosocial Self schemas and Behavior The theoretical question that has been posed in this article is
whether prosocial private self schemas and prosocial private self awareness are predictors of prosocial
behavior. The self schema is believed to play an important role in the regulation of behavior. It is
believed that behavior is influenced by the activation of a schema. This schema is connected to the
perception of self. Little evidence is shown to conclude that self schemas are independently
influencing any type of behavior and it is presumed that both the descriptive information about the self
and the behavioral information are stored independently of each other. This would infer that the

The procedure conducted in the first experiment was straightforward. The participants were brought to
a testing room by one of the two experimenters. The experimenters were both women. The participant
would then be told that they would be participating in a series of different games, puzzles, and
questionnaires. The children were told that for their participation they would receive fifteen tokens
that were worth ten cents each. The tokens could be exchanged for a gift certificate to Baskin Robbins.
The children were then told that they could give some of their tokens to the children that were not in
the study but they did not have to if they did not want to.
To manipulate the private self awareness the experimenter used an abbreviated version of the
California Q sort for children. The California Q sort caused the children to focus on their real self and
then again on their ideal self. The Children not in this condition did thinks such as ?Name as many
cars as you can?.
The experimenter informed the participants that she had to leave for a minute. The experimenter then
gave the children a chance to donate some of their tokens in private to those who have none but you
do not have to if you do not want to. This was done for the private self awareness task.
For the private self schema task, the participants were then given a task designed to measure to the
extent at which they had articulated a private self schema in each of

Ellen Ripley Analysis
Ellen Ripley in the movie shows how a female can do just as much as anyone, and on top of that
willing to fight for the better good and destroy the aliens in order to keep other families safe. Ripley
for one in the beginning of the movie stood her ground on the course of events that happened on the
ship when the attack happened. Ripley stayed true to her word. Not only does Ripley go and fight, she
showed remorse of the loss of her daughter and she has survivors regret which makes her more
personable. But she is able to fight past all that and use her old job experience to help load the ship to
land on LV46. A little point I did notice is the minimal use of beauty products from Ripley, she is all
natural faced. The point I want to make from this was how people correlate the amount of beauty
products used to shallowness and it added to the idea that Ripley is not shallow and a caring person. ...

Literary Devices Used To Protest War
When the word protest is brought up, everyone gets stereotypical and assumes it is violently,
especially when one is protesting war . Some people protest through writing. These writers protest
using different literary devices, such as imagery, irony, and structure. War has unique touch to
everyone s life who encounters this. Each individual deals with the effects of war in different ways.
The authors Stephen Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin Powers express their feelings by
writing. Imagery is used to protest war, because it puts vivid images in the reader s head of just how
bad war really is. Stephen Crane describes in his poem Because your lover threw wild hands toward
the sky (Crane 2). This brings an image of someone s loved one standing in a field and when the bullet

In the short story ¨The Yellow birds written by Kevin Powers, the author uses structure to protest war.
He rambles on and on causing the reader to realize how confused and disoriented he was. For
example, ¨What are you gonna do?, but really it doesn t matter...until only the animals made you sad,
the husk dogs filled with explosives¨ (Powers). This sentence should be at least two seperate complete
sentences. Instead of him worrying about being grammatically correct, he uses stream of conscious to
show the thoughts rambling through the soldier s head. Tim O Brien, the author of The things they
carried, uses structure in his short story by using listing and parallel structure. He explains everything
a soldier needs during war, when listing these things it causes no emotion to the reader. For example,
¨Among the necessities... were can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags,
mosquito¨ (O´Brien). When an author uses certain structure, it shows the reader that the author has no

Background
Forecasting is a critical function of revenue management and strategical planning for businesses. With
the help of historical information, forecasting allows businesses to anticipate changing market trends,

many applications and is utilized in numerous trades, this research focuses on forecasting within the

Solution#1: Utilizing a global distribution system (GDS) that provides accurate and real time data
could enable airlines to cut costs by planning and allocating resources more efficiently. A GDS is
basically a reservation system that connects and collects data from airlines, hotels and other travel
service reservation systems. One of such system is SABRE (Semi Automatic Business Research
Environment), which among the many functions is capable of calculating oil prices, the most efficient
routes for flights, as well as estimating last minute available seating on flights, tourism trends,
determining the best size of the aircraft to use for specific routes, and how much freight to put on a
flight. The use of a system like SABRE could help reduce the costs of flying airplanes with empty
seats, maximize cargo capacity on each flight, calculate and adjust pricing according to cost such as
oil prices, reduce downtime and improve passenger satisfaction through more frequent on time
arrivals and departures. It could also improve the efficiency of maintenance operations by recording
and transmitting data about performance issues while the aircraft is still in the air. By identifying the

The Flappers Of The 1920s
Flappers What is a flapper? The flapper is one of the most essential parts of the 1920s. They
represented a new type of woman. Whether in attitude, attire, or slang. The 1920s flapper
demonstrated how women could transform into something that is a part of the modern construction of
women s identity. The flapper was a major part of The Roaring Twenties . The flapper was how young
women sought to define themselves. Prior to the 1920s American women were seen in a very
traditional light. They were meant to stay in the backgrounds of their husbands. Their dresses were
meant to cover all the parts of their bodys. Women were told to follow the traditional and subservient
roles. With the ending of World War 1, Europe was in ruins, America became seen as the center of the
world s stage.
The war caused many American women to take factory jobs as result of the men enlisting in the war
effort. They took these jobs because once the husband left there was no source of income coming to
the family. So the women had to go to work to receive income to feed their families. Also, they started
to work at the factories so they could make guns, bombs, food, and clothes to send to the troops in
Europe who were fighting in the war.

Comparing The Blithedale Romance And The Lamplighter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance and Maria Susanna Cummins The Lamplighter are
vastly different books. While originally published within two years of each other, both authors
approached their writing through distinctive practices. Hawthorne failed to show development in a
majority of his characters while Cummins novel is heavily loaded with positive character growth.
After reading The Blithedale Romance and The Lamplighter, one of the main differences noted was

Political Parties And Interest Groups
The goal of this paper is to demonstrate how political parties and interest groups are able to get
citizens to participate in politics and political party participants or interest group members. This is a
comparison and contrast paper. The following will be a comparison between political parties and
interest groups. Three points will be mentioned. The first point will be the purpose, the second will be
the role they play and finally three strategies parties and interest groups use to get people to
participate.
A political party is a group of well dedicated people who unite to win elections, operate the
government, and determine public policy. Political parties are fairly different from interest groups.
Interest groups want to influence not necessarily run the government. Political parties have numerous
key purposes. These purposes include run and select a good candidate for office. Along with
monitoring power added by several other parties and also advising citizens on a lot of issues. There are
two political parties in the U.S. which are Republican and Democrat. These two parties maneuver the
national and local level. So, basically the purpose of a political party is to create something noticeable
for someone so that more people can come together and help their cause.
Political Parties have many roles one of the roles is that they choose candidates for office. Members

Essay On Gentrification Of A Community
In addition to race and socioeconomic status, there are issues concerning the environment and
properties of communities around the parks, and gentrification is an example of one major issue in
these communities. The few communities that are considered lower income but contain good parks are
attacked in terms of housing pricing and community recreation. These communities are inhabited by
people that have low income, but the parks are well taken care of due to being close to landmarks or
just being popular within the region. The people near these parks, enjoy them because they allow
family and recreation time, but unfortunately there is almost no initiative taken by the residents due to
more dire issues to deal with, like paying bills and making sure they have enough ... Show more

amenities and luxuries) which eventually led the price to go up displacing the old residents and
bringing in new ones. This certainly causes a problem, because pushing out the lower class people is
definitely not the way to go when trying to recreate a community. A study done on the dog parks of
Chicago by Nast, Heidi (2006) yielded similar results. Lincoln Park was a community that used to be
run down and abandoned as of the mid 1900 s, but after the industrialization in the 1970 s it s property
value increased dramatically and pushed out the people that were previously living there. The
contractors are not really doing the communities a favour by bringing in new, high priced services.
The people in these communities already have struggles that they re facing like having to pay their
bills, and have these few parks is beneficial for their leisure time, but instead they are forced to move
out due to housing prices going up and ultimately end up moving to areas that don t contain parks near
them. In an article by Greenfield,

Essay On Neuropathic Pain
Introduction
It is estimated that some 28 million people in the UK suffer from some form of chronic pain ranging
from lower back pain to osteoarthritis and as such this accounts for 45 million days of work lost each
year, the cost of chronic back pain to the NHS alone is £5 billion a year. This poses both massive
social and economic concerns and creates the question: why hasn t anything been done to counteract
this?
However, when one looks further into the matter, the desire to answer such a question is certainly
present. As a 9 5 society we have a certain inclination to fix any problem that may impede this work
ethic and yet despite the large sums of money that the NHS spends each year, two treatment options
seem to spell the end to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Visceral pain is pain caused by visceral nociceptors which are present in deeper structures such as
organs and internal cavities. Nociceptors in these areas are more scarce and highly sensitive to
distension, ischemia and inflammation but insensitive to other stimuli such as cuts or burns. Thus, the
pain produced in these areas is usually that of aching or cramping and will last for a greater period
than that of somatic pain.
Neuropathic Pain
Neuropathic pain is a type of pain caused by a problem with one or more of the nerves themselves.
This causes them to falsely send electrical signals and stimulate pain that may not be there. Symptoms
of which can be excruciating pain, pins and needles and numbness, which can cause the patient to
become extremely sensitive to even slight pressures in the affected area.
This may be caused by nerve pressure or damage, after surgery or trauma, viral infections, cancer,
vascular malformations, alcoholism, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and metabolic
conditions such as diabetes. Sometimes, there is no identifiable cause for the pain experienced and this
can be very distressing for the patient in question.

Plp Leadership Skills
PLP 3: Leadership Traits and Skills
Test Results Leadership Instruments can be classified as a tool that helps an individual assess his or
her own skills in context of leadership. The results of the selected instruments can be further reflected
on how an individual may apply it for personal and/or career growth. Personally, I selected the two
instrument provided, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire and the Skills Inventory. After completion, I
found that the Skills Inventory provided better insight on my strengths and weakness in leadership.
My personal and career goals are very similar in regards to traits, therefore when discussing the two
they will be interchangeable. My results showed that my human skills (which scored at high range) is
the majority of my leadership skills and conceptual skills (which scored at moderate range) need
improvement. My strengths and weaknesses can be further reflected on in regards to my hopeful
future in Human Resources.

Weaknesses can be considered as future goals that could ultimately become a positive asset. My
weaknesses lay in the conceptual skills category, which can be defined as abstract thinking and
understanding complicated problems. This can greatly impact my future education. In order to become
a Human Resource professional, a bachelor degree is almost essential along with other certifications.
In order to become top management other qualifications may be required. Education is not set up
specifically to train for your future employment, but to make a student think critically. I have
identified this issue and create possible scenarios that may help myself move forward. A possibility is
to question the relevance and reasoning of why a task is done a specific way. This changes my
thinking of order into critical thinking. This improvement has the ability to help my personal and

Why Do We Obey
Iyanatou Niang Professor Alford GVPT241 10/24/14 Obedience and Authority Even before formal
governments were put in place, groups of people would gather under one leader of the pack, whom
they respect and obey even when the commands are questionable. Throughout historic encounters, we
have studied humans and their predisposition to obey order, we know that when placed in a situation
where one must choose between morality or obedience, most gravitate towards obedience but the
question remains why? Why is it that humans are son inclined to obey? Studies from psychologists
such as Milgram think it is because obedience to authority is innate whilst Browning, believes it has
more to do with group pressure. The answer to why humans are obedient ... Show more content on

In his belief, at times when there are no ruling government they are that condition which is called
warre; and such a warre as is of every man against every man (Hobbes, Leviathan, p.62). He defines
the state of nature as a point where there is no injustice because there is no governing body to create a
law, therefore obedience is not necessary. The only way out of this permanent state of warre is through
a social contract in which people give up some of their rights in order to get some protection from the
governing body (the general rule being do unto your neighbors as you would have them do unto you).
Although he does not literally say it, obedience is a strong underlying factor to the social contract and
mutual state of peace. In some ways the state of nature does help to explain obedience to authority
leading to monstrosities because through the social contract it turned from being each man for himself
to each group for themselves. In the case of obedience one would naturally obey the leader of their
group whilst being in a state of warre with

  • 2. Power In Fahrenheit 451 Society s Tools to Control Us How society controls individuals is seen in everyday life in most places that any person may visit on an average day. The book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, written in 1953, is set in in the future. The book s concept is about how books were banned and it explained how life was changed without books. It has many fictional examples of how society controls individuals in real life even today. However, they might be seen as slightly exaggerated. There are many documentaries and articles that explain and warn of the power society can have over an individual, and how the people must guard themselves against it. Society controlling individuals is shown Fahrenheit 451 and the modern world through media, peer pressure, and ignorance about society s power. The media controlling individuals through society is not a new subject. Advertisements, shows, and news all influencing what each individual thinks about the world and in turn allowing power over the people engaged with it. So what is power? How exactly does it affect me? Well, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace explains it as Power is the ability of one party [or an individual] to make another party do, or stop doing, something. • 3. The Voyage Out Analysis In The Voyage Out by Morley Callaghan, he is making a critique of the way men use the male gaze, and how it makes women feel. Jeff who is in a state of excitement is trying to figure out his identity and what the male gaze does for him; the male gaze affects Jeff s life through Jessie, the girl in the green hat, and Eva and how his looking upon them makes them feel. Jessie affects Jeff in a way that captivates him and makes him excited. Our first description of Jessie is, [Jeff] discovered she as neat and pretty, he began to watch her furtively ... when she got up to go, he followed her out (46). Jeff is his exerting his use of the male gaze and staring at Jessie. Jessie seems to enjoy Jeff s male gaze and returns his affections, she suddenly put her arms tight around him, lifted up her face, held him as if she would never let him go, and let him know she was offering him all her love (47). Jessie gives Jeff exactly what he wants, almost; but even the thought that Jessie is willing to sleep with him has him basking in, his own triumphant importance (47). The male gaze works in Jeff s benefit in his situation with Jessie, and Jessie appears to be accepting of the male gaze. With the girl in green hat there is an alternate side to the male gaze. Since the inception of the Associate Degree in Nursing there has been research and discussion as to whether this degree should continue. This is due to the adversity in the level of competency between the two. Current popular thought is that the entry level into nursing should be the Bachelor of Science in nursing bringing the increase in the complexity of the medical arena and its every changing makeup to the professional level of the Baccalaureate Degree. It has been shown that a nurse s level of education can become a major factor to the safety and quality of care of their patients because of this there has been an increase in studies over the years that directly examine patient outcomes in similar situations between Associate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The studies have shown that nurses that have gone thru the baccalaureate program have a higher degree in articulation and problem deciphering abilities (Johnson, 1988) and are more proficient in their ability with nursing diagnosis along with the evaluation of nursing interventions (Geiger Davidhisar, 1990). Research further shows that those registered nurses that have obtained their degrees at the associate degree and diploma levels have an increase in their level of skills when completing a BSN degree. When comparing RN to BSN graduates from the years 1995 to 1998 it was (Rosseter, 2010, para. 24) shown that these students had a higher competency in nursing process, articulation, management, professional integration and analysis/dissemination (Phillips, C.Y., Palmer, C.V., Zimmerman, B.J. Mayfield, M. 2002). All the above studies seem to agree that when a BSN is involved in patient care there is a greater chance the patient outcome will be more positive than when the same patient in the same situation is taken care of by an ADN. The reasoning appears to be that with their higher education the BSN has an enhanced degree of assessment skills. This then allows for better critical thinking abilities. These two ... The chilling display of female repression is all that I have been able to think about. I am full of a deep mixture of rage and grief when reflecting upon the systems deeply embedded within the fabric of India s culture. Though it must be said that brutality is not limited to the borders of India as Aboriginal women suffer in present day Canada. Almost equal with the women of India, Aboriginal women have been struggling against racism, sexism, and domestic violence since the dawn of colonialism (explorers brought with them their patriarchal social codes and beliefs). Children in India and on First Nation reserves cannot continue to be raised believing that it is okay to disrespect, beat, rape, or kill women. Study on the main reason for deforestation is vital to the survey on the change of the forest land. The main reasons for deforestation are from two aspects, one is the state owned forest area, and the other is collective forest area (John amp;Richard 1988). In fact, the amount of state owned forest area is much larger than collective forest area. The ecological as well as financial crisis caused by the deforestation has also stayed for quite a long time. A legend, in contrast to folklore, is meant to inform and reinforce beliefs. Legends are less about fiction and the unbelievable, and more about the ordinary. The fairy legends in Ireland are abundant, as there are many different tales that describe fairies and their habits distinctly. A large portion of these legends have been told orally, so documenting them is difficult. She has some bread and is sent off back home. Prior to leaving, she is given a coin to give to her widowed mother. It is said that from then onward, her mother was never wanting for money for the rest of her life. In another story called The Three Sneezes from the same source, a wife is almost taken by fairies at her wedding, but a man blessed her and she was safe aside from becoming deaf and dumb. When the same man later walked by a couple of fairies, he heard them tell him of a cure for the woman s deafness and dumbness. He found the herb, and the woman was cured and well once again. These tales might have been to give hope to those that were impoverished or ill. The good fortune given by fairies in these legends are reflective of human desire. Common themes of these types of legends include endless fortune, magical powers, particularly bountiful harvest or healthy livestock, and goods supplied mysteriously. However, although some dealings with fairies might lead to good fortune or health, some people chose to avoid these dealings due to the fact that fairies can be manipulative. Fairy gifts can be extraordinary, but taken away if the receiver does wrong by the fairies or breaks an agreement. One unfortunate tale of an Irish piper details this. However, the fairy told him that he was only allowed to play it three times before a live audience. Some may be more common to some people while others are not as popular. The Renaissance movement is the most commonly known by the people. The term Renaissance means rebirth and it was introduced in the early 14th century. The movement took place in Europe, however, the majority of the movement began in Italy. There was a northern Renaissance and a southern Renaissance. In the northern Renaissance, artists put more effort on the details of their artwork rather than focusing on making it realistic. The two main themes were individual expression and worldly experience. During this period, Europeans had the interest in the values of ancient Greece and Rome and described it as the reawakening of the culture. Therefore, the term Renaissance was used for the movement. As the movement progressed, it increased political stability, economic growth, education, and cosmopolitanism. In addition, the study of language, literature, history, and philosophy began to expand as knowledge increased. As a result, the Renaissance movement can be described as a great influence on society. The book provides an outlook and realistic perspective on how he perceives the current crisis will play out. Florida states that the new normal will not be as focused on cars, houses, and suburbs. We will not be as centered on the ownership society which George W. Bush discussed. This is an upsetting realization. Owning a house is not what it used to be. Growing up, owning a house was a big dream of mine. With a new economy like we are in, owning a house tends to be more of a hindrance. I can understand where his point of view is coming from. By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths (158). Each soldier is going to have different memories, but most of their experiences are so similar they seem to form a universal truth and a collective memory of all their stories. O Brien s unification of fact and fiction is to illustrate the idea in which the real accuracy of a war story is less significant than storytelling. The subjective truth about what the war meant and what it did to change the soldiers is more meaningful than the technical details of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first point will be the purpose, the second will be the role they play and finally three strategies parties and interest groups use to get people to participate. A political party is a group of well dedicated people who unite to win elections, operate the government, and determine public policy. Political parties are fairly different from interest groups. Interest groups want to influence not necessarily run the government. Political parties have numerous key purposes. These purposes include run and select a good candidate for office. Along with monitoring power added by several other parties and also advising citizens on a lot of issues. There are two political parties in the U.S. which are Republican and Democrat. These two parties maneuver the national and local level. So, basically the purpose of a political party is to create something noticeable for someone so that more people can come together and help their cause. Political Parties have many roles one of the roles is that they choose candidates for office. • 49. Essay On Gentrification Of A Community In addition to race and socioeconomic status, there are issues concerning the environment and properties of communities around the parks, and gentrification is an example of one major issue in these communities. The few communities that are considered lower income but contain good parks are attacked in terms of housing pricing and community recreation. These communities are inhabited by people that have low income, but the parks are well taken care of due to being close to landmarks or just being popular within the region. The people near these parks, enjoy them because they allow family and recreation time, but unfortunately there is almost no initiative taken by the residents due to more dire issues to deal with, like paying bills and making sure they have enough ... This certainly causes a problem, because pushing out the lower class people is definitely not the way to go when trying to recreate a community. A study done on the dog parks of Chicago by Nast, Heidi (2006) yielded similar results. Lincoln Park was a community that used to be run down and abandoned as of the mid 1900 s, but after the industrialization in the 1970 s it s property value increased dramatically and pushed out the people that were previously living there. The contractors are not really doing the communities a favour by bringing in new, high priced services. The people in these communities already have struggles that they re facing like having to pay their bills, and have these few parks is beneficial for their leisure time, but instead they are forced to move out due to housing prices going up and ultimately end up moving to areas that don t contain parks near them. • 51. Essay On Neuropathic Pain Introduction It is estimated that some 28 million people in the UK suffer from some form of chronic pain ranging from lower back pain to osteoarthritis and as such this accounts for 45 million days of work lost each year, the cost of chronic back pain to the NHS alone is £5 billion a year. This poses both massive social and economic concerns and creates the question: why hasn t anything been done to counteract this? However, when one looks further into the matter, the desire to answer such a question is certainly present. As a 9 5 society we have a certain inclination to fix any problem that may impede this work ethic and yet despite the large sums of money that the NHS spends each year, two treatment options seem to spell the end to the ... Nociceptors in these areas are more scarce and highly sensitive to distension, ischemia and inflammation but insensitive to other stimuli such as cuts or burns. Thus, the pain produced in these areas is usually that of aching or cramping and will last for a greater period than that of somatic pain. Neuropathic Pain Neuropathic pain is a type of pain caused by a problem with one or more of the nerves themselves. This causes them to falsely send electrical signals and stimulate pain that may not be there. Symptoms of which can be excruciating pain, pins and needles and numbness, which can cause the patient to become extremely sensitive to even slight pressures in the affected area. This may be caused by nerve pressure or damage, after surgery or trauma, viral infections, cancer, vascular malformations, alcoholism, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and metabolic conditions such as diabetes. Plp Leadership Skills PLP 3: Leadership Traits and Skills Test Results Leadership Instruments can be classified as a tool that helps an individual assess his or her own skills in context of leadership. The results of the selected instruments can be further reflected on how an individual may apply it for personal and/or career growth. Personally, I selected the two instrument provided, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire and the Skills Inventory. After completion, I found that the Skills Inventory provided better insight on my strengths and weakness in leadership. My personal and career goals are very similar in regards to traits, therefore when discussing the two they will be interchangeable. My results showed that my human skills (which scored at high range) is the majority of my leadership skills and conceptual skills (which scored at moderate range) need improvement. My strengths and weaknesses can be further reflected on in regards to my hopeful future in Human Resources. Strengths As many know, Human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weaknesses can be considered as future goals that could ultimately become a positive asset. My weaknesses lay in the conceptual skills category, which can be defined as abstract thinking and understanding complicated problems. This can greatly impact my future education. In order to become a Human Resource professional, a bachelor degree is almost essential along with other certifications. In order to become top management other qualifications may be required. Education is not set up specifically to train for your future employment, but to make a student think critically. I have identified this issue and create possible scenarios that may help myself move forward. A possibility is to question the relevance and reasoning of why a task is done a specific way. This changes my thinking of order into critical thinking. This improvement has the ability to help my personal and career ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Why Do We Obey Iyanatou Niang Professor Alford GVPT241 10/24/14 Obedience and Authority Even before formal governments were put in place, groups of people would gather under one leader of the pack, whom they respect and obey even when the commands are questionable. Throughout historic encounters, we have studied humans and their predisposition to obey order, we know that when placed in a situation where one must choose between morality or obedience, most gravitate towards obedience but the question remains why? Why is it that humans are son inclined to obey? Studies from psychologists such as Milgram think it is because obedience to authority is innate whilst Browning, believes it has more to do with group pressure. The answer to why humans are obedient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his belief, at times when there are no ruling government they are that condition which is called warre; and such a warre as is of every man against every man (Hobbes, Leviathan, p.62). He defines the state of nature as a point where there is no injustice because there is no governing body to create a law, therefore obedience is not necessary. The only way out of this permanent state of warre is through a social contract in which people give up some of their rights in order to get some protection from the governing body (the general rule being do unto your neighbors as you would have them do unto you). Although he does not literally say it, obedience is a strong underlying factor to the social contract and mutual state of peace. In some ways the state of nature does help to explain obedience to authority leading to monstrosities because through the social contract it turned from being each man for himself to each group for themselves. In the case of obedience one would naturally obey the leader of their group whilst being in a state of warre with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
