Indigenous People
Indigenous People Indigenous people are those that are native to an area. Throughout the world, there
are many groups or tribes of people that have been taken over by the Europeans in their early
conquests throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, by immigrating groups of individuals,
and by greedy corporate businesses trying to take their land. The people indigenous to Australia,
Brazil and South America, and Hawaii are currently fighting for their rights as people: the rights to
own land, to be free from prejudice, and to have their lands protected from society.

Indigenous People of Australia The Aborigines are an indigenous group from Australia. They were the
first human inhabitants of this land. The word Aborigine is actually from Latin language, meaning
from the beginning . The Europeans gave this name to native Australians, but this is not what they call
themselves. They prefer to be called Koori (Ponnamperuma). They adapted to their environment well:
the people in the colder southeast tended to be short and thick set which was useful for conserving
body heat, and the people in the hot desert were taller and lean. The Aboriginals lived solely by
hunting and food gathering. Each group accumulated detailed knowledge of the habits, cycles, and and
food values of the plants, insects reptiles, marsupials, and fish

The Experimental Results And Test Parameters
The experimental results depend on a combination of test parameters, structural parameters and
materials parameters. For the complete stress strain curve, the test parameters are difficult to be
separated from the material and structural parameters. The softening behavior of concrete, as found in
laboratory tests, depends strongly on structural aspects such as specimen dimensions, boundary
conditions and feed back signal. And it also depends on test parameters such as testing machine
characteristics, friction restraint between loading plates, allowable rotations of loading plates before
and during the test and loading rates as well as on the concrete composition. Uniaxial compression
tests on cubes and cylinders, with different heights, have shown that a stress strain curve of concrete is
not a material property but a mix of structural and material behavior.
4.2.5. Tensile splitting strength and modulus of rupture:
The test is carried out for three foam balls lightweight concrete cubes specimens of size 150 x150 x
150 mm for tensile splitting strength. The Universal testing machine is used for the test. This test
refers to the split cube test, indirectly measures the concrete tensile strength. It is done by applied a
compression the cube through a line load along its length. Tensile strength is considered one of the
important basic properties of the concrete. Concrete is not usually expected to desinged resisting the
direct tension. That is because of its brittle nature and

Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother Essay
In one study of 50 Western American mothers and 48 Chinese immigrant mothers, almost 70% of the
Western mothers said either that stressing academic success is not good for children or that parents
need to foster the idea that learning is fun. By contrast, roughly 0% of the Chinese mothers felt the
same way. Instead, the vast majority of the Chinese mothers said that they believe their children can
be the best students, that academic achievement reflects successful parenting, and that if children did
not excel at school then there was a problem and parents were not doing their job. ... Chinese parents

suggests that it is important for the children to acknowledge their parents and respects them. Chua
expands on this positions when she states Despite [the Chinese] parents brutal demands, verbal abuse,

wanting to care for them in their old age (Chua 211). This shows that even though it seems like
Chinese parents and their children are always bickering and arguing about things, it is only out of love

that Amy loves her kids very much and would never imagine losing them. The love conveyed between
Amy and Lulu is evident because after they fight, they sit down and laugh together. Amy Chua
considers herself a typical Chinese mother who aspires that someday her children will grow and take
care of her and her husband.

The International Market of Russia
I found a wide scope of information about the international market of Russia, including information
about the culture, infrastructure, economy, communication, political structure to eventually decide if
Seventh Generation Baby Diapers should enter this market. Russia has transitioned from an extremely
controlled economy into a rapidly growing market oriented economy in the last 17 years. It is one of
the world s largest economies with a GDP per capita of __________. Along with this growth, the
middle class started playing a more significant role in Russia s national economy. Russia also has the
largest territory in the world, with an area of 6,601,668 square miles of land, while the United States
contains 3,794,100 square miles. Along with a diverse economy, the large territory of land, Russia s
technology plays an incredibly significant role in improving Russia s economy and society as whole.
However, even though Russia has a rapidly growing economy, Russia is currently experiencing
decreasing Green Index Scores. Seventh Generation is a strong brand that has a powerful focus, and it
could start a positive environmental revolution in Russia as the country gets more developed. Russians
are brand oriented, and the Russian consumers purchase products with Brands in mind at the
beginning. Additionally, this country has a high power distance score, a very low individualism score,

Political, Social, And Political Changes In The Medieval Ages
In Medieval Europe Kingdoms there were many changes. Most of the changes were good for the
world. The changes in medieval times can be drawn comparison to todays world. The changes focused
on will be political, social, and economic. These changes will help people understand a small part of
the worlds history. There were many political changes in Europe s Medieval society. In Medieval
Europe it showed the largest growth in the society in Europe. The government was also made into
bureaucracies, bureaucrats did not have full control over the people. Europe helped influence many
places around them. The rulers did not have complete rule of there people, it leads to a more self
governed society. The rulers in the society more made rules for the people, made ideas for battle, and
found out ways to strengthen their communities as a whole. This did cause plenty of fights in
Medieval Europe over who had the most power. The popes were important to the people back then.
After the fight between pope and government Europe was seeing the world with a new eye. Political
changes helped sculpt the world that in present day, and will help effect life for a long time to come.
Another important fact to the changing of Medieval Europe is the social changes. There were new
social classes that came into play at this time. Merchants and artisans helped in the change of the
social classes. Even though women did increase the Europe world they were still considered defined
by men in the time.

Dick Hebdige Analysis
When words fail, music speaks. This saying is commonly used to support the power that humans give
music over words, to the point that they are represented better by song lyrics then their own voice.
This leads to the rise of certain styles of music that a group of individuals can relate to and find
comfort in. Throughout history it has been evident how certain genres of music have been associated
with a type of culture because it represents their struggles and voices their thoughts. However, music
does not always speak the correct way for everyone. People also tend to take lyrics and interpret them
differently than what the original artist intended them to mean. Misinterpretation can cause a lot of
controversy, especially if the meaning of a song opposes a certain culture, or individual. By comparing
Dick Hebdige s article The Meaning of Styles and Macklemore s song White Privilege, one can
analyze how music can be appropriated by other ethnicities. Hence, one can further understand the
controversy that arises ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, throughout the years Hip hop began to be appropriated by Caucasians. This can be seen in
White Privilege, where Macklemore speaks up about how Hip hop has begun to lose its earning
because Caucasians are favored in the genre that did not even began with them. Furthermore, this song
causes a great amount of controversy and backlash to Macklemore, especially from whites who felt
offended by his lyrics. Thus, the controversy that arose caused people to overlook the meaning behind
White Privilege. They viewed this song as one who focused solely on targeting the lifestyle of white,
instead of viewing the original meaning which was to acknowledge and raise awareness to the fact
that Hip Hop was an art created by African Americans. Overall, when people forget the meaning
behind important cultural aspects, they also neglect parts of that

They use technology and other minds to distribute information throughout the Washington D.C. area
(Plot Summary). Minority Report is about three humans that can predict when a murder is going to
take place. There three humans are special because as kids, they were in terror of their own dreams.
They dreamed of murders that were going to happen. But the government sees it as a way to make the
community better. So, they brought all three of their special human beings together and began a
company that helps them picture murders before they actually happen. These dreams told the killer,
the victim, and the time the murder would occur but not the location. It would show the government
the items in the location, but not the exact location. The government would go out looking for this
criminal before the crime was committed. Ethical Concern was distributed through this film because
the going to be criminals could have made the choice not to kill the victim. John is a man whose son
was taken while they were at the town pool and his name came up as a murderer. John stole a precog,
the people that have the dreams, and she convinced him into not killing crow. The precrime business
reflected in the Washington D.C. society. The government thought it was going to help make the world
a better place, but a glitch happened during the precogs dreams. These precogs would vision the
murder more than once. But this is not because they want them to put more investigation into it, it is
because the murder that they first visiones of was suppose to happen and who the murderer is but it
never happened that way or by that person. The second vision shows the same vision but small details
are different but it is the same victim, they do not know who the actual killer is. Precrime was a

Analysis Of I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died
Emily Dickinson s I heard a Fly buzz when I died describes a death speaker looks back the moment of
his or her death. Using the objects like the storm, the fly and the melancholy of the people around to
express the mood of the speaker, Dickinson reveals that faces the death, the speaker is afraid at first,
but finally, the speaker finds the calmness and peace inside herself or himself. Like I heard a Fly buzz
when I died , After Death also addresses a moment before death. Rossetti uses the death as a
compensation of the tragic love He did not love me living; but once dead . Two poems both use brief
imagery and setting to describe the atmosphere before death, however, Dickinson focus on the change
of mood and environment, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But they gather together to witness the final performance of the speaker.
Then, Dickinson keeps providing the detailed imagery in the room, and shows the people s reaction to
the speaker s death:
The Eyes around had wrung them dry
And Breaths were gathering firm
For that last Onset when the King
Be witnessed in the Room (Dickinson, lines 5 8)
People are sad and sorrow, and maybe they are the speaker s family members and friends. Their eyes
are like sponges, and crying is stretching the tears out of the sponges and had [has] wrung them dry .
Breaths have touchable weight and shape that can be gathered together and get firmed. Dickinson
endows new property to the breath and cry. This provides a vivid picture in the room like people are
sobbing and weeping weakly, and the same feeling as if our audience is part of the people around the
speaker. Then Dickinson describes the mental world of the people. They are waiting and to witness the
King Death in their own eyes.
What does the last moment look like? Is it horrified? Dickinson gives her answer in the last stanza:
With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz
Between the light and me
And then the Windows failed and then
I could not see to see (Dickinson, lines 13 16)
There are many symbols in this stanza: a light, blue color, a buzz, and windows. I consider the light is
a symbol of heaven and the fly is the speaker s soul because flies have wings just as angles.

Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning
Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules.
That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching,
gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my
university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never
did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind
engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn.
I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each
child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children
would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is
not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify
and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged.
Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I
ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein
learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right
amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential.
Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John
Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious
enough to pursue bigger questions.
I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process.
Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s
learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can
be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. This was also evident
in my observation of EP, where the learners learnt from their peers and were confident to share with
other peers thus making it a successful

St Joseph Research Paper
Deep in the thick swamps and woods of Northern Gulf County, amidst the buzz and sting of
mosquitoes, chirps of squirrels, and swirls of the Apalachicola, is a long lost story. One hundred and
eighty years ago the town of Iola sprang out of the cypress swamp of what is now north east Gulf
County. That small community, was, and still is an enigma in the wilderness of territorial Florida and
has all but faded from the memory of Gulf County and is nothing but a boat ramp now. You cannot
discuss Iola without first discussing Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph began its short life in the mid 1830 s
after a Supreme Court decision on the Forbes land grants in nearby Apalachicola. Forbes Co. was
formerly the Panton Leslie Co, located in Pensacola. The Panton Leslie Co. was a trading company

Approaches Of The Classical And Human Relations...
There are hundreds of thousands of different approaches within the Classical and Human Relations
environment and management field. Many of these approaches are similar and compatible in nature,
and as well have various looks that show their differences and incompatibilities. Let s explore how
these organizations use systems and theories in their everyday work life and discover the
incompatibilities between each of the approaches.
Classic Management and its Structure
The definition of Classical management states that it is a result of the early attempts to formalize
principles for a growing number of professional managers (Jeliniek, 2005) . Mariann Jeliniek, Henri
Fayol, and Frederick Winslow Taylor are all seen as the forefathers of classical management (Parker
and Ritson, 2005). Classical theory sought rationality and order in the workplace, and worked through
what they had called the one best way, which is what they had thought was the most logical division
of labor, appropriate structure to relate the activities, the correct amount of control for directing
activities, and as well the proper allocation of responsibility designated to a proper authority. These
three classical theorists asserted their insights and became universally applicable to all organizations.
To help ensure there was efficiency in the workplace there had to be specialized labor, proper direction
and coordination, and effective planning in an organization.

The Practicality Of Network Security
Introduction: As a concept, the practicality of Network Security includes using activities designed to
protect a user s network. Specifically, the core aim for this security is to protect the usability,
reliability, integrity, and safety of data on that network. In Network Securitythere are numerous
applications and software programs that are used by individuals which perform their own roles in
securing network data. The most common and possibly the most essential application used to protect
network data is known as a firewall. A firewall is a program that is designed to act as a barrier between
an external network and the users. It is fundamentally designed to stop hackers, scammers, viruses,
worms, and essentially any unauthorised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking toward the future with the exponential evolution in technology, it is key to gather a more in
depth and analytical study of the methodologies involved in firewall systems.Observing the current
direction of firewall development can provide an idea of the improvements that can be made to keep
up with an ever expanding technological society; especially as more and more people are being
exposed, uneducated, to the dangers of the internet. Aim: By taking a look at the average household or
business building, it is realised that a common aspect of their basic structure is the physical security
mechanisms in place. These are in place to protect the privacy and integrity of what the owner
possesses within. In terms of a network, this concept of preventing unauthorised access of one s
property is just as valid. However, in the situation of a network, a firewall is used as this prevention
security system. The idea is simple; a user may have stored, on their network, a certain amount of
private data that is personal to them or their business. Thus, a firewall is put in place in order to
prevent anything or anyone that does not have authorisation from accessing any of this data. If an
unknown and potentially dangerous individual were to try to get into a building complex, the physical
security appliances would react and prevent this from happening. A firewall works the same way;
however it deals with potentially harmful packets entering the network. These packets are

Swift s ‘Gulliver s Travel’ and Voltaire s ‘Candide’ Essay
Swift s Gulliver s Travel and Voltaire s Candide
Swift s Gulliver s Travel and Voltaire s Candide are typical literature works during the Enlightenment
period. Both authors use satire in their works. Satire is literary form which means irony. Therefore,
they have some similarities. They both want to expose human vices through satiric tone. Due to
different personal styles, there are many differences between two novels.
Two novels use satire to criticize human weakness. In Gulliver s Travel , Swift makes up a horse
society Houyhnhnm and a brutal animal Yahoo. Gulliver has to admit that human beings are yahoos

status of yahoo is under a depressed atmosphere. When Gulliver backs home, he is still struggling to
be a rational creature in his mind which is Houyhnhnm or to be a corrupted creature which is yahoo.
Swift s sharp criticism makes the novel isn t as fun as Candide . However, it makes reader think over
the purpose of his criticism.
On the contrary, Voltaire s Candide is full of black humor. Although Candide goes through a lot of
ridiculous circumstances and suffers a lot, the unexpected content makes his voyage funny. In Gulliver
Travel , the observation of horse society and comparison between yahoo and human are important
components of Swift s satire. In Candide , every character expresses the satiric tone of Voltaire.
Pangloss, teacher of Candide, always believe that Everything is for the best in this best of all possible
world , escapes from death several times. He still insists his philosophic thinking which exactly brings
him in trouble. Cunegonde s brother constantly refuses Candide marry with his sister even Cunegonde

Analysis Of The Movie Glory
Why is the movie called Glory? Is it really glory? I strongly believe not only is the movie glory itself,
but the characters represent the idea of glory throughout the movie as well. Glory is a high rank of
honor, which involves tireless amounts of work to get to. Not only did the characters in the movie
represent the movie well, but portrayed the Civil War in a proud manner as well. There are many
characters that represent glory, but there are three that stand out among the rest. Those characters are
Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, Corporal Thomas Searles, and Sergeant Major John Rawlins. The first
character who I believe represented Glory in the movie is Colonel Robert Gould Shaw. When Shaw
was asked to lead these inexperienced men, he knew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first battle, he was shot in the leg. Colonel Shaw was going to send him back to Boston for care,
but refused to leave his fellow soldiers and continue to fight for his men. That shows you how much
he matured throughout the movie. As soon as Colonel Shaw was shot down in the Battle at Fort
Wagner, he took the flag and gave one of the best fights in the Battle of Fort Wagner. As he was shot
down in that battle, which eventually lead to his death, his fellow soldiers knew they had lost a key
part of their force. With that said, Corporal Thomas Searles might have only started out as a typical
inexperienced soldier, but ended up being one of the most profound soldiers in the force, which proves
he represents glory in the movie. The final character in Glory who I believe showed much glory is
Private Trip. Originally from Tennessee, Trip was determined to fight anyone he could, and of course,
win. Occasionally, he would start fights with many of the white soldiers because they would say the
54th never really doesn t have the opportunity to fight. That led to some trouble, but what also led him
to trouble was stirring up trouble with Corporal Searles. He also was disappointed about the lower
wages, something that Colonel Shaw was admired for. Throughout the movie, there were many times
where the leaders thought he should be punished, but he proved that wasn t necessary. Although it
doesn t seem like he represents glory with

Asperger Syndrome Analysis
What is Asperger Syndrome you ask? It is a rare type of autism that affects about two out of 10,000
children. The definition of autism is a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized
by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and
abstract concepts. It is sometimes difficult to identify an individual having Asperger syndrome as it
hardly shows any physiological effects, but the social impairment and difficulty these individuals
have, create significant delays in language and cognitive development. In this news article, we will

Evite De Peron Analysis
Arguably the most politically controversial and influential women in Argentine history, and Spiritual
Leader of the nation, Maria Eva Duarte de Peron (1919 1952) and much of the history of her life is
subject to substantial bias due to a myriad of anti Peronist propaganda during the Peron s regime, as
Marysa Navarro states you were either for her, or against her . Although there is a consensus to a
monumental sum of the facts apropos to Eva Peron s life, the subject of discourse is rather in the
interpretations and perceptions of her life, such as her reasons for the creation of the Eva Peron
Foundation, how she came the her prominence, and her purpose and goals. The orthodox view of Eva
was formed directly after her death and entails an image of promiscuity, manipulation, greed, and
hunger for power and revenge. However, towards the end of the twentieth century, revisionists refined
this interpretation, diminishing the negative portrayal; creating a less biased presentation.
The orthodox interpretation may be accredited to the Argentinian historian and author Mary Main

Main was born to an upper class family in Argentina, it is likely that this influenced her perception of
Eva before she began writing her book. This is due to the Eva Peron Foundation, through which Eva
and Juan taxed many of the luxuries only available to the middle and upper classes of Argentinian
society, also known as the oligarchy. This inevitably caused substantial resentment for the socialist
views of the Peronist movement and its leaders, Juan and Eva. Additionally, it is likely that this is also
the cause of Mains extreme criticism of the Eva Peron Foundation and her targeting of Eva, deeming
her as promiscuous as an attempt to of

Rasputin would cause the Russia people to doubt the Tsar and one of the reasons why the royal family

The worst thing that happened during Nicholas rule that led to the end of the monarchy was Bloody

Those protestors we fired upon and many were killed.

Employment Issues And Employment Contracts
Employment Issues Employment Contracts: Awards: An award is a legal document that specifies the
basic set of entitlements[1] and minimum employment standards that an employee will be provided
with. They also can include the terms and conditions of employment. Most awards in public sectors
refer to the National Employment Standards as well as some other basic entitlements. Awards are
generally common for all companies in a particular sector However the private sector, managers and
high income workers (113800+)[2] can have different awards but they must still include the National

their terms and conditions of employment. However after it has been passed, the employee will not be

for most employees as it legally protects them from any malpractices and provides them with
entitlements which all employers must adhere by. It also means that employers can not alter anything
that can disadvantage a particular employee. An employer can also specify the terms and conditions
by which his employee has to work. It allows for negotiation of terms and conditions after wage
exceeds 100 000 and employee wishes to opt out, as they can now get a common law contract. It
means that even if an employee is not working hard enough or the employer wants them to work
harder by doing something negative to them, eg. wage reduction, they are legally not allowed to. It
also restricts employers in what they can do with their employees. They can not be negotiated between
employer and employee as they are common in between all companies in certain industries. The

Explain How Are Gradients Important In Diffusion And Osmosis
Questions to Ponder:
What is kinetic energy and how does it differ from potential energy?
Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, however potential energy is the energy that is stored.
What environmental factors affect kinetic energy and diffusion?
Factors like temperature, surface area, and salinity affect kinetic energy and diffusion.
Why do these factors alter kinetic energy and diffusion?
Temperature increases kinetic energy of the molecules, facilatating faster diffusion of particles as
particles now have a greater speed and thus more readily diffuse across the membrane. Higher surface
area allows for greater diffusion as more particles can enter at once with more room in which to enter.
Higher salinity means more particles within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How are gradients important in diffusion and osmosis?
Without gradients, diffusion and osmosis would not be possible. This is because diffusion is the
movement of particles down concentration gradients and osmosis is the diffusion of water, which
means they both require gradients to function.
What is the explanation for the fact that most cells are small and have cell membranes with many
convolutions?
Higher surface area to volume ratio as being small minimizes volume and having many folds
maximizes surface area. With a higher surface area, greater diffusion rates can occur as there is a
larger area for nutrients and water to pass through.
Will water move into or out of a plant cell if the cell has a higher water potential than the surrounding
environment?
Because substance move from high concentration to low concentration, water will go out of the cell
and into the surrounding environment.
What would happen if you applied saltwater to a

The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis suggests that choices made on earth have a consequential effect
towards our acceptance into heaven or our plummet into hell. In this book pride manifests itself in a
hundred subtle ways as souls whine about perceived injustices or irrational motives. Thankfully, a few
tourists do humble themselves, become transformed into marvelously real beings, and remain in
heaven. But most don t, about which the great Scottish author George MacDonald, Lewis heavenly

Templar Car History
Some you ancient ones may have heard of the Templar automobile. It was manufactured in Lakewood,
Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, from 1917 until 1924. There were at least thirty car manufacturers in
northeast Ohio during these years. The founders of the Templar Motor Company were a group of
Knights Templar who were involved in the paving and construction businesses. Sources differ on these
details, but some of the names identified with the venture include M.F. Bramley, Arthur M. Dean, J.E.
Mathews, W.J. Hunkin and D.C. Reed. They named their car Templar , and selected the Maltese Cross

driver of the era, was a promoter for Templar. He challenged all comers to match his Templar in speed,
endurance and reliability. In 1919 he drove a Templar from New York to Chicago in twenty seven
hours. This was six hours faster than the previous record, and was accomplished over 992 miles of
mud, rain and detours, with an average speed of 36.9 mph. In 1921 he set a new record for a run from
Akron to Cleveland in twenty five minutes, averaging over sixty mph. This record was certified by the
AAA. The Templar Motor Company went out of business due to post war depression, supplier
problems and a fire at the factory. But mostly it was competition. These cars were individually hand
made, while Ford and others used production lines and interchangeable parts. This lack of modern
manufacturing capability doomed most of the fancy autos of the period. A Cleveland bank seized the

Depiction Of Iran During The 20th Century
You can be anything you want to be. This is a phrase that many parents and other adults tell children.
However, in some parts of the world, the government places laws that restricts the freedom and rights
of their citizens. So for these citizens, is this saying just a phrase or can it become a reality? An
example of a strict government is the Fundamentalist country Iran during the late 20th century. The
laws of Iran during this period of time were brought about due to a change of government, which was
the result of The Islamic Revolution in 1979. This impacted many Iranian civilians. The most affected
at this time were women. In Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi discusses the atmosphere of Iran during this
time. From Satrapi s view, the readers get to see the changes Iranian women had to go through and
some examples of women who disapproved the laws and those who welcomed them. The late 20th
century saw many social changes, especially for Iranian women. One of the changes involves the
education system. For example, Satrapi once attended a non religious French school that was co ed.
Then after the revolution, the government forced her and other females to go to an all girl school with
an uniform that included wearing a veil. The government believed that males and females should be
separated in schools and that bilingual schools are symbols of capitalism (3 4). Another example is the
way women dressed, especially in public. As mentioned earlier, girls had to wear veils in

In the text the initiation into the Mafia is quite complicated. A proposed member is blindfolded and led
into a dark room. Pieces of Cranshaw melon are placed in his pockets, and he is required to hop
around on one foot and cry out, Toodles! Toodles! Next, his lower lip is pulled out and snapped back
by all the members of the board, or commissione; some may even wish to do it twice. Following this,
some oats are put on his head. If he complains, he is disqualified. If, however, he says, Good. I like
oats on my head, he is welcomed into the brotherhood. This is done by kissing him on the cheek and
shaking his hand. From that moment on, he is not permitted to eat chutney, to amuse his friends by
imitating a hen, or to kill anybody named Vito.
The real ceremony involves significant ritual, oaths, blood, and an agreement is made to follow the
rules of the Mafia as presented to the inductee. 4. Allen s language is pervaded by understatements,

Dimmesdale Lacks Courage in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet...
The Scarlet Letter Dimmesdale is Good, but Lacks Courage There is a fine line between hypocrisy
and cowardice. Arthur Dimmesdale, a principal character in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter provides a
perfect example of how thin that line can be. The Scarlet Letter relates a story about sin and the many
consequences of not having strength of character. The true nature of Reverend Dimmesdale s character
has been debated since the first publication of the novel. Dimmesdale is considered by many to be a
hypocrite because he cared more about protecting his reputation than he did about protecting the
woman he loved. Others view the Reverend in a more sympathetic light and see him as not a
hypocrite, but as a good man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is proved by looking at the torment the Reverend faced internally and externally, his intentions,
and his love and concern for the welfare of Hester and his illegitimate daughter, Pearl. The agony that
Reverend Dimmesdale was feeling throughout the novel had many origins. For example, his
conscience had a great negative effect on him. By keeping his sin a secret, he internalized the pain that
is inevitably a consequence of sinning. The anguished Dimmesdale struggles to pacify his conscience
as it consumes his very being. With every successive Sabbath, his cheeks grew paler and thinner, and
his voice more tremulous than before. This shows that while Hester s pain was a mental anguish, the
Reverend had to deal with both mental as well as physical pain. Each time Dimmesdale stood in front
of his congregation, he felt weaker and more ashamed. Dimmesdale s pain could be seen not only in
his demeanor but also by the clutching of his chest. Throughout the novel, the Reverend could be seen
placing his hand over his heart, as if the pain of seeing Pearl, or talking to Hester, or merely realizing
what he has done, was too much for him to bear. Pearl often times is quoted noticing the Reverend s
strange habit A strange, sad man is he (Dimmesdale), with his hand always over his heart! An analogy
can be made that the Reverend covers his heart from eyes that can see

An Interview For The Univision Media Network
After Zorro, people spoke Spanish to me for ages. I m Welsh but that movie instantly gave me a new
ethnicity. This was a quote by the actress, Catherine Zeta Jones, when asked to speak Spanish in an
interview for the Univision media network. This is one of the many results that come from of a
complex reality of identity. Individuality is controlled by a social structure that labels a person based
on similarities to a particular ethnic group. Society has the need to shape the ethnic identity of a
person. They are categorized into a homogenized group defined by resemblances of their nationality
and culture. This results in discrimination and oppression. The fact of a person s identity has never
been neutral. The way a person is treated by society, according to how they are perceived, is the cause
of identifying and shaping an identity with social factors that provide a negative outlook on cultural
tolerance. The complex reality of identity is a factor that is influenced by the culture a person was
raised in and handed down to by their families. This causes society to take that factor and turn it into a
way of establishing an identity upon people. Due to a resemblance to an ethnic background, people are
compared according to their social, financial, and behavioral status. Society will always attempt to
identify a person to their best knowledge to feel a sense of belonging and being at a minimal level of
thinking with ethnic groups to be comfortable with racial differences.

The Influence Of Hadrian On The Roman Empire
Hadrian ruled the Roman Empire at the time it was considered the greatest empire in the history of the
world. According to Elizabeth Speller, Hadrian was the first Roman Emperor who went beyond the
common stereotype of good and bad Roman leaders (Speller 230 288). She describes his regime as
that which had a wavering beginning, a celebrated middle and a disastrous ending. He is known for
having made several travels and visiting almost all the provinces during his regime. However, his
travels were not pleasure oriented but rather driven by his determination to see the Roman Empire get
to the top by constantly keeping in check the discipline of the army around the provinces and ensuring
that the provinces had the right administration. Being the fourteenth Roman Emperor, Hadrian is
ranked third among the five best emperors who ever ruled the Roman Empire and emerged as the few
leaders who ruled justly. Speller also cites his great public speaking ability and his excellent
philosophical knowledge as some of the reasons which made him more powerful and projected his
authority. Therefore, it is important to note that there are several attributes, deeds and projects that
Hadrian used to project his authority and power.
Romans remember him for his massive contribution to the empire by actively taking part in projects
involving building where he built one of the greatest walls in the world knows as the Hadrian s Wall.
Even though he spent much time travelling and away from Rome

Without a proper diagnosis, change is very likely to fail (Pellettiere, 2006). Alderfer (1980) states
organizational diagnosis proceeds in there orderly phases: entry, data collection, and feedback (p.
460). The entry phase consists of identifying who will participate in the assessment and if an
agreement can be reached (Alderfer, 1980). The data collection phase consists of collecting the
information and then analysis of the information (Alderfer, 1980). The feedback phase consists of
sharing the results with the organization along with suggestions for the organization (Alderfer, 1980;
Preziosi, 2012). The feedback should consist of strengths and weaknesses within the organization
(Alderfer, 1980). Salem (2002) states there are three type of assessments: structural assessments,
functional assessments, and process assessments. Structural assessments are a snapshot of a specific
point in time, functional assessments relates antecedents with actions and outcomes, and process
assessments consists of collecting data over an extended period of time (Alderfer, 1980).

be unusual for the audience to expect Prospero to use his power to get rid of Caliban. Yet in the final

Caliban here repents and agrees to seek grace and is simply allowed to go and live on the Island. This
does not mirror the actions of Prospero at the beginning and throughout the play. He seems to play the
role of the cruel sorcerer using his powers to gain control over people and scare them. Yet his action
towards Caliban in Act Five seems unlike the character that he has been throughout the play.
How he treats Caliban does mirror how he is treats the rest of the characters in the final scene. He does
not seem to punish any of the characters, even his brother Antonio. It appears to me that once he has
completed the task he wanted to complete and so is able to become Duke of Milan once again he is a
more compassionate person. He lets the other characters go free from their punishments. The only
characters who seem to be punished are Trinculo and Stephano but they are

Poetry Comparison Essay
Poetry Comparison There have been many wars throughout time. Most people learn the facts through:
papers, films, books or poems, but I am comparing two similar poems which have different meanings.
Wilfred Owen who wrote the poem Dulce et Decorum est or Lord Alfred Tennyson who wrote The
Charge of the Light Brigade . They are both based around the theme of war. Lord Alfred Tennyson is
pro war and thinks it s a good thing to die for your country. His poem was written to memorialise the
Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean war (1854 56) he wrote it ten years later, on: April 10th 1864. He
was born in 1809 and died at the age of 83 in 1892. Wilfred Owen is against war and he writes about

The soldiers are getting defeated But limped on, blood shod. All went lame, all blind in this line Owen
has used metaphors and repetition to make the soldier s movements stand out and shows they are
injured and have got blood on there shoes. Owen wants the reader to picture this in your mind with the
verbs he has used coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge shows they are choking on the gas
and smoke but slowly and angrily carry on to battle. The use of repetition emphasises exactly how he
felt and what he saw, All went lame; all blind it makes it stand out how tired and injured the soldier s
really are from Owens view. The rhythm of stanza one is made by the ten syllables per line, which
gives the effect that the soldiers are marching. The rhythm has changed, there s now a gas attack and
the soldiers are shouting and rushing trying to get there masks on in time Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! An
ecstasy of fumbling . Owen then wants the reader to picture this so uses caesuras and exclamation
marks to emphasise exactly what s happening and this makes you imagine the soldiers in a sudden
rush for the masks. Then Owen describes the gas attack as being under water as under a green sea this
suggests Owen wants you to imagine the movements the

The Process Of Sol-Gel Processing
Sol gel processing is prevented by nanomakes particles which causes pores surface with controlled
pore size ranging from few nanometers to tens of nanometers to allow biomolecules loading. The
dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size analyzer (Malvern Instruments, Malvern, UK) will be
used for size characterization, polydispersity index (PDI), and the zeta potential of SHMNCs. In
addition, SHMNCs can be visualized by scanning electron micrograph (SEM) method (Fig. 9 B C).
The Number of pores on each SHMNC can be varied by changing the ratio of masks and interior
templates molar concentration [23].
Synthesize of SHMNCs is illustrated in (Fig. 9): 1. Mixing of positively charged amine functionalized
polystyrene beads (available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, different size of SHMNCs need to be fabricated (Table 2). The pores size on the surface of
SHMNCs are controllable by choosing different nanomasks diameter. The size of each pore will be
approximately around 25 35% of nanomask diameter. For instance, using 100, 60 and 40 nm
nanomasks diameter, result mesoporous of 30±4, 20±3 and 12±2 nm in diameter, respectively [23].
The pore size should not be smaller than the maximum length of enzyme which needs to be loaded in
SHMNCs. Here, since the maximum size of enzyme is 12.2 nm (CaMKII), the pores size cannot be
less than 12 nm. Therefore, the 40 nm nanomask is the smallest nanomask that will be applied to
create SHMNCs.
Table 2: Various sizes of SHMNCs with different pore sizes and numbers
SHMNC name Interior template size Nanomask size # Pores

After SHMNC sol gel processing followed by calcination, due to partial dehydration of silica gel
hydroxyl group, the final diameter of SHMNCs will be around 85 90% of templates size [60]. Also,
particle size distribution will be obtained by high resolution technics such as Atomic Force
Microscopy (AFM), or Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) methods. It is

Crime Data Measuring Crime Essay
Crime throughout the United States is measured through statistics. Whether they are small crimes,
blue color crimes, drugs, and even murder, these statistics help the criminal justice system to develop
new laws that need to be put in place and to see how current programs are working. There are two
statistical reports used to measure crime in the United States; they are the (UCR) Uniform Crime
Report and the (NCVS) National Crime Victimization Survey. There is a third and it is self reported
crimes by individuals. These systems being used are a great foundation for tracking trends in crimes
but they are only as accurate as the people/systems that give to them. Although these are here to report
criminal information to several agencies, they do not reflect all the numbers because there are a lot of
crimes that go unreported.
The Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which the Federal Bureau of Investigation began in 1929, collects

Certain crimes through the United States are not reported because some individuals do not feel
comfortable reporting them and or some criminals do not always get caught. When criminals are
caught, they do not always go to trial because either there is not sufficient evidence or witnesses do
not come forward. Recidivism statistics today should be looked at more closely, especially prior to
these criminals being released. The problem could be that the programs that are implemented in the
system to reform the criminals prior to release are not working or the criminals are beating the system
by lying. Either way, these two statistics go hand in hand because the crimes are either being
committed by new criminals or repeat offenders and some of these crimes are not being reported. The
reporting systems and law enforcement agencies should go back and review these numbers and find a
better way to track these criminals, criminal activities, arresting procedures, and prison

Advanced Dermatology And Cosmetic Surgery
I am writing to inform you of your clinic s participation in an exciting, new patient satisfaction trial.
Advanced Dermatology Cosmetic Surgery has teamed up with the marketing and research group
xAmplifier to begin capturing and analyzing patient feedback across select ADCS branches. If
successful, this program will be expanded to our entire organization later this year. The trial was
inspired by our desire to better understand what motivates patients to choose Advanced Dermatology
Cosmetic Surgery over our competitors, how customer satisfaction fluctuates at the various stages of
treatment, and reveal areas for growth and improvement in our communication, staff training,
services, and practices. We believe that patients choose Advanced Dermatology Cosmetic Surgery not
only for the quality, thoroughness, and convenience our our treatments, but for the warmth,
compassion, and confidence instilled in our patients by each of you, the ADCS staff. From reception
to medical technicians to our physicians and nurses, Advanced Dermatology Cosmetic Surgery
advantage stems from our ability to make everyone who walks into our clinics feel safe and secure
placing their health in our hands. The feedback itself is captured in form of a digital survey delivered
to patients via email within 24 hours of their onsite visit for the following events: an annual exam, an
office visit that results in a procedure, and instances where a patient scheduled an appointment but was

Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures
Strategy 1:
Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured
through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management
of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can
impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in
December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will
provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs
to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each
contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this
strategy stands at $127,000.
This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11
during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the
price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk
by taking long position in wheat futures.
Strategy 2:
Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his
revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will
guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the

Hester Prynne Character Traits
I chose Hester Prynne because of her remarkable strength through ostracism within her city. I like this
character because she is different from the rest of the other characters and I find Hester interesting. I
may not relate to or know of someone who relates to Hester, but I know of a few movies that resemble
the Scarlet Letter character. In the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne exemplifies
the following characteristics: outcast, strength, and responsible.
Hester Prynne is the social outcast within her Puritan village due to the sin of committing adultery.
She has, ...bore on her breast, in the curiously embroidered letter, a specimen of her delicate and
imaginative skills... (Hawthorne, 56). She wears a large A on her chest and is constantly put to shame
by it. The townspeople, including children, openly mock her as she walks though the ... Show more

Due to Hester s crime of adultery, she must wear a scarlet letter on her chest for the rest of her life.
Hester first exemplifies her strength when she is released from prison and people were expecting to
see her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, (Hawthorne, 49). However, the townspeople find
her more gorgeous and ladylike than before. This shows Hester s inner strength, due to the fact that
she is not easily distraught by her punishment. As Hester endures her public penance, the angry
crowds are looking at her letter, and Hester repays them with a bitter and disdainful smile, even
though the reader gets the impression that she is not truly handling the punishment well (Hawthorne,
53). This displays Hester s inner strength, Hester is able to hide her feelings during her punishment.
The author states that Hester endures the pain from her public penance that morning; however she
does this by protecting her spirit with insensibility (Hawthorne, 63). This exemplifies how strong
Hester s demeanor is throughout her shameful

Throughout the world, there are many groups or tribes of people that have been taken over by the Europeans in their early conquests throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, by immigrating groups of individuals, and by greedy corporate businesses trying to take their land. The people indigenous to Australia, Brazil and South America, and Hawaii are currently fighting for their rights as people: the rights to own land, to be free from prejudice, and to have their lands protected from society. The Europeans gave this name to native Australians, but this is not what they call themselves. They prefer to be called Koori (Ponnamperuma). They adapted to their environment well: the people in the colder southeast tended to be short and thick set which was useful for conserving body heat, and the people in the hot desert were taller and lean. The Aboriginals lived solely by hunting and food gathering. • 3. The Experimental Results And Test Parameters The experimental results depend on a combination of test parameters, structural parameters and materials parameters. For the complete stress strain curve, the test parameters are difficult to be separated from the material and structural parameters. The softening behavior of concrete, as found in laboratory tests, depends strongly on structural aspects such as specimen dimensions, boundary conditions and feed back signal. And it also depends on test parameters such as testing machine characteristics, friction restraint between loading plates, allowable rotations of loading plates before and during the test and loading rates as well as on the concrete composition. Uniaxial compression tests on cubes and cylinders, with different heights, have shown that a stress strain curve of concrete is not a material property but a mix of structural and material behavior. 4.2.5. Tensile splitting strength and modulus of rupture: The test is carried out for three foam balls lightweight concrete cubes specimens of size 150 x150 x 150 mm for tensile splitting strength. The Universal testing machine is used for the test. This test refers to the split cube test, indirectly measures the concrete tensile strength. It is done by applied a compression the cube through a line load along its length. Tensile strength is considered one of the important basic properties of the concrete. Concrete is not usually expected to desinged resisting the direct tension. That is because of its brittle nature and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother Essay In one study of 50 Western American mothers and 48 Chinese immigrant mothers, almost 70% of the Western mothers said either that stressing academic success is not good for children or that parents need to foster the idea that learning is fun. By contrast, roughly 0% of the Chinese mothers felt the same way. Instead, the vast majority of the Chinese mothers said that they believe their children can be the best students, that academic achievement reflects successful parenting, and that if children did not excel at school then there was a problem and parents were not doing their job. ... • 7. Dick Hebdige Analysis When words fail, music speaks. This saying is commonly used to support the power that humans give music over words, to the point that they are represented better by song lyrics then their own voice. This leads to the rise of certain styles of music that a group of individuals can relate to and find comfort in. Throughout history it has been evident how certain genres of music have been associated with a type of culture because it represents their struggles and voices their thoughts. However, music does not always speak the correct way for everyone. People also tend to take lyrics and interpret them differently than what the original artist intended them to mean. Misinterpretation can cause a lot of controversy, especially if the meaning of a song opposes a certain culture, or individual. By comparing Dick Hebdige s article The Meaning of Styles and Macklemore s song White Privilege, one can analyze how music can be appropriated by other ethnicities. Thus, the controversy that arose caused people to overlook the meaning behind White Privilege. • 10. Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules. That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching, gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn. I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged. Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential. Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious enough to pursue bigger questions. I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process. Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. This was also evident in my observation of EP, where the learners learnt from their peers and were confident to share with other peers thus making it a successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. St Joseph Research Paper Deep in the thick swamps and woods of Northern Gulf County, amidst the buzz and sting of mosquitoes, chirps of squirrels, and swirls of the Apalachicola, is a long lost story. One hundred and eighty years ago the town of Iola sprang out of the cypress swamp of what is now north east Gulf County. That small community, was, and still is an enigma in the wilderness of territorial Florida and has all but faded from the memory of Gulf County and is nothing but a boat ramp now. You cannot discuss Iola without first discussing Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph began its short life in the mid 1830 s after a Supreme Court decision on the Forbes land grants in nearby Apalachicola. • 12. Approaches Of The Classical And Human Relations... There are hundreds of thousands of different approaches within the Classical and Human Relations environment and management field. Many of these approaches are similar and compatible in nature, and as well have various looks that show their differences and incompatibilities. Let s explore how these organizations use systems and theories in their everyday work life and discover the incompatibilities between each of the approaches. Classic Management and its Structure The definition of Classical management states that it is a result of the early attempts to formalize principles for a growing number of professional managers (Jeliniek, 2005) . Mariann Jeliniek, Henri Fayol, and Frederick Winslow Taylor are all seen as the forefathers of classical management (Parker and Ritson, 2005). Classical theory sought rationality and order in the workplace, and worked through what they had called the one best way, which is what they had thought was the most logical division of labor, appropriate structure to relate the activities, the correct amount of control for directing activities, and as well the proper allocation of responsibility designated to a proper authority. These three classical theorists asserted their insights and became universally applicable to all organizations. To help ensure there was efficiency in the workplace there had to be specialized labor, proper direction and coordination, and effective planning in an organization. • 13. The Practicality Of Network Security Introduction: As a concept, the practicality of Network Security includes using activities designed to protect a user s network. Specifically, the core aim for this security is to protect the usability, reliability, integrity, and safety of data on that network. In Network Securitythere are numerous applications and software programs that are used by individuals which perform their own roles in securing network data. The most common and possibly the most essential application used to protect network data is known as a firewall. A firewall is a program that is designed to act as a barrier between an external network and the users. Looking toward the future with the exponential evolution in technology, it is key to gather a more in depth and analytical study of the methodologies involved in firewall systems.Observing the current direction of firewall development can provide an idea of the improvements that can be made to keep up with an ever expanding technological society; especially as more and more people are being exposed, uneducated, to the dangers of the internet. Aim: By taking a look at the average household or business building, it is realised that a common aspect of their basic structure is the physical security mechanisms in place. These are in place to protect the privacy and integrity of what the owner possesses within. In terms of a network, this concept of preventing unauthorised access of one s property is just as valid. However, in the situation of a network, a firewall is used as this prevention security system. The idea is simple; a user may have stored, on their network, a certain amount of private data that is personal to them or their business. Thus, a firewall is put in place in order to prevent anything or anyone that does not have authorisation from accessing any of this data. If an unknown and potentially dangerous individual were to try to get into a building complex, the physical security appliances would react and prevent this from happening. A firewall works the same way; however it deals with potentially harmful packets entering the network. These packets are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Analysis Of The Movie Glory Why is the movie called Glory? Is it really glory? Glory is a high rank of honor, which involves tireless amounts of work to get to. Not only did the characters in the movie represent the movie well, but portrayed the Civil War in a proud manner as well. There are many characters that represent glory, but there are three that stand out among the rest. As he was shot down in that battle, which eventually lead to his death, his fellow soldiers knew they had lost a key part of their force. With that said, Corporal Thomas Searles might have only started out as a typical inexperienced soldier, but ended up being one of the most profound soldiers in the force, which proves he represents glory in the movie. The final character in Glory who I believe showed much glory is Private Trip. Originally from Tennessee, Trip was determined to fight anyone he could, and of course, win. Occasionally, he would start fights with many of the white soldiers because they would say the 54th never really doesn t have the opportunity to fight. That led to some trouble, but what also led him to trouble was stirring up trouble with Corporal Searles. He also was disappointed about the lower wages, something that Colonel Shaw was admired for. Evite De Peron Analysis Arguably the most politically controversial and influential women in Argentine history, and Spiritual Leader of the nation, Maria Eva Duarte de Peron (1919 1952) and much of the history of her life is subject to substantial bias due to a myriad of anti Peronist propaganda during the Peron s regime, as Marysa Navarro states you were either for her, or against her . Although there is a consensus to a monumental sum of the facts apropos to Eva Peron s life, the subject of discourse is rather in the interpretations and perceptions of her life, such as her reasons for the creation of the Eva Peron Foundation, how she came the her prominence, and her purpose and goals. The orthodox view of Eva was formed directly after her death and entails an image of promiscuity, manipulation, greed, and hunger for power and revenge. However, towards the end of the twentieth century, revisionists refined this interpretation, diminishing the negative portrayal; creating a less biased presentation. The orthodox interpretation may be accredited to the Argentinian historian and author Mary Main (1903 1998) in her book Evita: The Woman with the Whip in 1952. This inevitably caused substantial resentment for the socialist views of the Peronist movement and its leaders, Juan and Eva. • 22. Explain How Are Gradients Important In Diffusion And Osmosis Questions to Ponder: What is kinetic energy and how does it differ from potential energy? Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, however potential energy is the energy that is stored. What environmental factors affect kinetic energy and diffusion? Factors like temperature, surface area, and salinity affect kinetic energy and diffusion. Why do these factors alter kinetic energy and diffusion? Temperature increases kinetic energy of the molecules, facilatating faster diffusion of particles as particles now have a greater speed and thus more readily diffuse across the membrane. Higher surface area allows for greater diffusion as more particles can enter at once with more room in which to enter. Higher salinity means more particles within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How are gradients important in diffusion and osmosis? Without gradients, diffusion and osmosis would not be possible. This is because diffusion is the movement of particles down concentration gradients and osmosis is the diffusion of water, which means they both require gradients to function. What is the explanation for the fact that most cells are small and have cell membranes with many convolutions? Higher surface area to volume ratio as being small minimizes volume and having many folds maximizes surface area. With a higher surface area, greater diffusion rates can occur as there is a larger area for nutrients and water to pass through. Will water move into or out of a plant cell if the cell has a higher water potential than the surrounding environment? Because substance move from high concentration to low concentration, water will go out of the cell and into the surrounding environment. What would happen if you applied saltwater to a ... The true nature of Reverend Dimmesdale s character has been debated since the first publication of the novel. By keeping his sin a secret, he internalized the pain that is inevitably a consequence of sinning. The anguished Dimmesdale struggles to pacify his conscience as it consumes his very being. With every successive Sabbath, his cheeks grew paler and thinner, and his voice more tremulous than before. This shows that while Hester s pain was a mental anguish, the Reverend had to deal with both mental as well as physical pain. Glover Grand Canyon University: Strategic Planning and Change December 19, 2012 Change Models, Diagnosis Instruments, and Specific Change Interventions To make meaningful and long term change in an organization, an organization needs to follow the guidelines of a change model, a diagnostic instrument, and change intervention. This paper will discuss two change models, two diagnostic instruments, and two change interventions. Change Models The two change models discussed in this paper are Lewin s Change Model and the Action Research Model. Both of these models give a map on how to create change. Lewin s model simplifies the process into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a proper diagnosis, change is very likely to fail (Pellettiere, 2006). Alderfer (1980) states organizational diagnosis proceeds in there orderly phases: entry, data collection, and feedback (p. 460). The entry phase consists of identifying who will participate in the assessment and if an agreement can be reached (Alderfer, 1980). The data collection phase consists of collecting the information and then analysis of the information (Alderfer, 1980). The feedback phase consists of sharing the results with the organization along with suggestions for the organization (Alderfer, 1980; Preziosi, 2012). The feedback should consist of strengths and weaknesses within the organization (Alderfer, 1980). Salem (2002) states there are three type of assessments: structural assessments, functional assessments, and process assessments. Structural assessments are a snapshot of a specific point in time, functional assessments relates antecedents with actions and outcomes, and process assessments consists of collecting data over an extended period of time (Alderfer, 1980). SWOT Analysis SWOT Anlysis is an acronym which stands for strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats (Balamuralikrishna amp; Dugger, 1995; Boonstra, 2003; Hughes, 2007; Mind Tools, 2012; RapidBI, 2010; Renault, 2012). • 37. Explore How the Character of Prospero Develops in the... Prospero is the most central character in Shakespeare s The Tempest . The play revolves around his personal task to regain his dukedom, which his brother Antonio usurped from him. Throughout the play it is shown how Prospero develops and changes as a character and seems a different person to the character we first meet in Act One Scene Two. How Prospero s character develops happens in a variety of ways, one of the most potent ways appearing to be the treatment of the other characters within the play. Prospero s character is introduced into the play in Act One Scene Two, after the tempest has shipwrecked Antonio and Alonso s ship. We firstly come to realise that Prospero and Miranda are looking down upon the tempest and so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is easy to see this by the way that Prospero speaks to him using sub human terms such as Thou poisonous slave (4) and him being called a fish (5). Yet as Prospero s character develops, he appears to become less vengeful. Caliban as a sub (or non) human has no rights at all. Furthermore, he was part of a murder plot to kill Prospero so it would not be unusual for the audience to expect Prospero to use his power to get rid of Caliban. Yet in the final act of the scene of the play, Caliban says: Ay, that I will; and I ll be wise hereafter And seek for grace. (6) Caliban here repents and agrees to seek grace and is simply allowed to go and live on the Island. This does not mirror the actions of Prospero at the beginning and throughout the play. He seems to play the role of the cruel sorcerer using his powers to gain control over people and scare them. Yet his action towards Caliban in Act Five seems unlike the character that he has been throughout the play. How he treats Caliban does mirror how he is treats the rest of the characters in the final scene. He does not seem to punish any of the characters, even his brother Antonio. It appears to me that once he has completed the task he wanted to complete and so is able to become Duke of Milan once again he is a more compassionate person. He lets the other characters go free from their punishments. The only characters who seem to be punished are Trinculo and Stephano but they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Poetry Comparison Essay Poetry Comparison There have been many wars throughout time. Most people learn the facts through: papers, films, books or poems, but I am comparing two similar poems which have different meanings. Wilfred Owen who wrote the poem Dulce et Decorum est or Lord Alfred Tennyson who wrote The Charge of the Light Brigade . They are both based around the theme of war. Lord Alfred Tennyson is pro war and thinks it s a good thing to die for your country. His poem was written to memorialise the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean war (1854 56) he wrote it ten years later, on: April 10th 1864. He was born in 1809 and died at the age of 83 in 1892. All went lame, all blind in this line Owen has used metaphors and repetition to make the soldier s movements stand out and shows they are injured and have got blood on there shoes. Owen wants the reader to picture this in your mind with the verbs he has used coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge shows they are choking on the gas and smoke but slowly and angrily carry on to battle. The use of repetition emphasises exactly how he felt and what he saw, All went lame; all blind it makes it stand out how tired and injured the soldier s really are from Owens view. The rhythm of stanza one is made by the ten syllables per line, which gives the effect that the soldiers are marching. The rhythm has changed, there s now a gas attack and the soldiers are shouting and rushing trying to get there masks on in time Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of fumbling . Owen then wants the reader to picture this so uses caesuras and exclamation marks to emphasise exactly what s happening and this makes you imagine the soldiers in a sudden rush for the masks. Then Owen describes the gas attack as being under water as under a green sea this suggests Owen wants you to imagine the movements the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Process Of Sol-Gel Processing Sol gel processing is prevented by nanomakes particles which causes pores surface with controlled pore size ranging from few nanometers to tens of nanometers to allow biomolecules loading. The dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size analyzer (Malvern Instruments, Malvern, UK) will be used for size characterization, polydispersity index (PDI), and the zeta potential of SHMNCs. In addition, SHMNCs can be visualized by scanning electron micrograph (SEM) method (Fig. 9 B C). The Number of pores on each SHMNC can be varied by changing the ratio of masks and interior templates molar concentration [23]. Synthesize of SHMNCs is illustrated in (Fig. 9): 1. Mixing of positively charged amine functionalized polystyrene beads (available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, different size of SHMNCs need to be fabricated (Table 2). The pores size on the surface of SHMNCs are controllable by choosing different nanomasks diameter. The size of each pore will be approximately around 25 35% of nanomask diameter. For instance, using 100, 60 and 40 nm nanomasks diameter, result mesoporous of 30±4, 20±3 and 12±2 nm in diameter, respectively [23]. The pore size should not be smaller than the maximum length of enzyme which needs to be loaded in SHMNCs. Here, since the maximum size of enzyme is 12.2 nm (CaMKII), the pores size cannot be less than 12 nm. Therefore, the 40 nm nanomask is the smallest nanomask that will be applied to create SHMNCs. • 40. Crime Data Measuring Crime Essay Crime throughout the United States is measured through statistics. Whether they are small crimes, blue color crimes, drugs, and even murder, these statistics help the criminal justice system to develop new laws that need to be put in place and to see how current programs are working. There are two statistical reports used to measure crime in the United States; they are the (UCR) Uniform Crime Report and the (NCVS) National Crime Victimization Survey. There is a third and it is self reported crimes by individuals. These systems being used are a great foundation for tracking trends in crimes but they are only as accurate as the people/systems that give to them. Although these are here to report criminal information to several agencies, they do not reflect all the numbers because there are a lot of crimes that go unreported. Certain crimes through the United States are not reported because some individuals do not feel comfortable reporting them and or some criminals do not always get caught. When criminals are caught, they do not always go to trial because either there is not sufficient evidence or witnesses do not come forward. Recidivism statistics today should be looked at more closely, especially prior to these criminals being released. The problem could be that the programs that are implemented in the system to reform the criminals prior to release are not working or the criminals are beating the system by lying. Either way, these two statistics go hand in hand because the crimes are either being committed by new criminals or repeat offenders and some of these crimes are not being reported. The reporting systems and law enforcement agencies should go back and review these numbers and find a better way to track these criminals, criminal activities, arresting procedures, and prison ... • 42. Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures Strategy 1: Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this strategy stands at $127,000. This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11 during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk by taking long position in wheat futures. Strategy 2: Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the ... I like this character because she is different from the rest of the other characters and I find Hester interesting. I may not relate to or know of someone who relates to Hester, but I know of a few movies that resemble the Scarlet Letter character. In the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne exemplifies the following characteristics: outcast, strength, and responsible. Hester Prynne is the social outcast within her Puritan village due to the sin of committing adultery. She has, ...bore on her breast, in the curiously embroidered letter, a specimen of her delicate and imaginative skills... (Hawthorne, 56). Due to Hester s crime of adultery, she must wear a scarlet letter on her chest for the rest of her life. Hester first exemplifies her strength when she is released from prison and people were expecting to see her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, (Hawthorne, 49). However, the townspeople find her more gorgeous and ladylike than before. This shows Hester s inner strength, due to the fact that she is not easily distraught by her punishment. As Hester endures her public penance, the angry crowds are looking at her letter, and Hester repays them with a bitter and disdainful smile, even though the reader gets the impression that she is not truly handling the punishment well (Hawthorne, 53). This displays Hester s inner strength, Hester is able to hide her feelings during her punishment. The author states that Hester endures the pain from her public penance that morning; however she does this by protecting her spirit with insensibility (Hawthorne, 63). This exemplifies how strong Hester s demeanor is throughout her shameful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
