Existing Products
• This is some audio for a kids audio book that begins by telling the
listener the title of the book followed by the author. The voice over
then starts the story and introduces us to the main character,
rhyming the words when describing his appearance. Doing this can
interest the children listening because of the way it flows when
using this technique. Very faint music can be heard, slowly
increasing in volume while the narrator continues on with the story.
It is very calming music; it fits with the story and it can probably
help a child to relax, especially before bed. I can understand why
they would do this. Whenever a character speaks, the narrator
gives them more emotion which helps to make the characters seem
more alive.

Existing Products
• The audio begins by describing the character, introducing us
to a cat and adding a sound effect of a cat meowing. Some
faint music is playing in the background and the narrator
moves on to explain how windy it is, reinforcing this by adding
another sound effect of wind blowing. This can interest a
larger audience of children because of the sound effects and
upbeat music. It breaks up the text and makes it entertaining
when these sounds are included. I noticed that whenever a
big event happens within the story, for instance when the
main character drops her hat, dramatic music starts to play. It
makes it funny and more enjoyable for kids this way.

Existing Products
• The narrator for this audio book first tells us the author of the
book and gives us the title before moving on to the actual
story. The voice actor for this book is a lot more upbeat,
making the main character’s introduction and voice lines
more cheerful and welcoming. There is no music with this
audio book but I don’t think you need it. You’re attention is
focused on the narrator; adding music wouldn’t help in any
way and children can enjoy the joyful voice lines by themself.
The audio book doesn’t include sound effects either but, just
like the music, I don’t think it needs it either. The voice actor is
enough for kids to be entertained by the story.

• What common features do the researched products have?
• The majority of them include music in the background. Sound
effects are also something that most of them include.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your own
work?
• To keep children interested in my audio book, it’ll be a good
idea to think about the music and sound effects I could
potentially use. Listening to how people narrated the stories I
listened to is useful because I can keep this in mind and look
back on it when I narrate my own story.

Main: Female & male • Kids audio book should be for all children to enjoy and listen to so
I’m going to create something that won’t be tied to one gender
only.

• A lot of parents will read to their kids before bed to help them
settle down. Having an audio book playing in the background will
make this a lot easier and kids will like the fun sound effects and
music.
• Using an audio book to help their kids to settle down will allow
parents to continue on with any important work they need to do
without interruption.

Secondary: Upper middle
class
• People here will be able to afford it at a smaller price thanks to it
being only a short kids story.
• This product will still be affordable in this social group and can be
enjoyed by parents and their kids.

This can interest a larger audience of children because of the sound effects and upbeat music. It breaks up the text and makes it entertaining when these sounds are included. I noticed that whenever a big event happens within the story, for instance when the main character drops her hat, dramatic music starts to play.   • 4. Existing Products • The narrator for this audio book first tells us the author of the book and gives us the title before moving on to the actual story. The voice actor for this book is a lot more upbeat, making the main character’s introduction and voice lines more cheerful and welcoming. There is no music with this audio book but I don’t think you need it. You’re attention is focused on the narrator; adding music wouldn’t help in any way and children can enjoy the joyful voice lines by themself. The audio book doesn’t include sound effects either but, just like the music, I don’t think it needs it either. The voice actor is enough for kids to be entertained by the story. Sound effects are also something that most of them include. • What aspects of the research will you include within your own work? • To keep children interested in my audio book, it’ll be a good idea to think about the music and sound effects I could potentially use. Listening to how people narrated the stories I listened to is useful because I can keep this in mind and look back on it when I narrate my own story.

They will enjoy the fun sound effects or music and the storyline should keep them entertained. • Secondary audience would be the parents, family, siblings or carer looking after the child while they listen to it. Gender Main: Female & male • Kids audio book should be for all children to enjoy and listen to so I’m going to create something that won’t be tied to one gender only. Psychographic Main: Belongers Secondary: Achievers • A lot of parents will read to their kids before bed to help them settle down. Having an audio book playing in the background will make this a lot easier and kids will like the fun sound effects and music. • Using an audio book to help their kids to settle down will allow parents to continue on with any important work they need to do without interruption. Social Status Main: Medium class Secondary: Upper middle class • People here will be able to afford it at a smaller price thanks to it being only a short kids story. • This product will still be affordable in this social group and can be enjoyed by parents and their kids.
