Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

2. Video Recorder and Tripod
Video Recorder
Using the video recorder I helped me create a professional
trailer due to its HD qualities and also the clarity within the
sound recorder. On the screen of the camera there is a grid
this enabled us to use the left third rule throughout our
trailer to emphasise the importance of characters
Tripod
Using a tripod also enabled us to created a successful
product as we were able to keep the camera extremely
steady which removes any unprofessional shakes throughout
the trailer.
3. Social Media
Survey Monkey
I used this programme a lot during the research and planning stages of
my production. I created these surveys to find out the opinions of my
target audience including information on the demographic and
psychographic. I was also able to share my surveys that I had created on
Facebook which meant it reached a wide audience. Without the use of
survey monkey my whole production would have been limited as it
would have been difficult to create a professional and appealing horror
trailer without finding out this information beforehand.
Padlet
Padlet helped me further as I created padlets within my research and
planning when I wanted expanded opinions from my audience especially
about their likes and dislikes of my trailer drafts. Without padlet I would
have only basic improvements from survey monkey so I was able to
create a more complex trailer that appeal to my target audience.
4. Presentation Methods
Microsoft word
I was able to successfully display all areas of my
research and planning through the use of Microsoft
word including my shot list, script and also my focus
groups that I created to find out information about my
demographic at the beginning of my production. I
could easily create these documents and I was also
able to make my ideas visual through the use of
inserting image
The use of PowerPoint has enabled me to easily
upload my JPG images by putting them into the
PowerPoint. I was also able to present my information
and research summary's in a interactive way
5. Sound Software
Sound cloud
I used sound cloud to upload the sound that I had
chosen from YouTube. I was then able to upload
these sounds onto my blog this meant that I
could show clearly that I had done sound
research for my final trailer.
Clip-converter
It meant that I could quick and easily take music
and videos directly from YouTube. I could then
use these MP3 files to upload them onto IMovie
which I could then edit it on.
6. Video Software
Animto/Stupeflix
I used these to create visual explanations from my research
findings. This enabled me to identify the conventions very
quickly and also narrow down the main conventions that
are to be used within my production. These videos are very
easy and simple to create but are extremely effective.
