Bipolar And Its Effects On The Individual
Have you ever spent a lot of time around or just know of someone who has been diagnosed as
bipolar? Or somebody who doesn t act like they are all there? Bipolar is genetics wise, you can
get it through DNA. It has many effects not only through the individual themselves but also
family, friends, jobs, education. People who are diagnosed with this disorder have many amazing
support systems behind them. There are medications, groups, therapy and friends and family who
will always be there for them. The individual being diagnosed with bipolar don t see exactly what
others see, with being bipolar it causes conflict in the family with that being said on daily basis
fighting, yelling, reckless behavior occurs. Bipolar has many internal effects on... Show more

Children who are at the age of ten now have a fear of not being good enough to step up in a
family. When somebody leaves a family due to the lack of parenting because the bipolar is
taking control of them children are now having to take over the role of the parenting jobs
because who else will be there for them? Children learn from children; it is so unlikely for a
child to learn from a parent being diagnosed with bipolar. With all the fighting going on, it will
build up stress upon everybody else, having stress in a house will only make thing ten times
worse because with everybody being stressed out, they will get annoyed faster, don t have the
patience, and just do what they feel like doing just so they can get the stress off them and take it
onto somebody else and that will cause more fighting, arguing, and yelling and where does that get
you? Absolutely nowhere but back to where it all started. Mood swings are also a big part of the
disorder; you think everybody has mood swings? Well we all do but with being diagnosed with
bipolar it affects them more serious than other individuals who are not diagnosed with

Environmental Issues
Introduction
The sustainability of the planet has become an issue of contention in the recent past due to
numerous environmental issues. Human activities have brought about various climate changes that
may bring about the extinction of the human race on earth. Issues such as climate change, recycling,
sewage, ozone, pollution have all been addressed in the Kyoto protocol, but the proposed solution in
this protocol have not been fully implemented by the countries across the globe. The world has
changed due to the environmental issues that affect us in a negative manner. It is important to keep
in mind that various steps have been taken so as to address the environmental issues and to bring
about favorable conditions as a result of the human activities. Secondly, there are bound to be
disagreements and disputes in the measures that will be adopted when responding to these
environmental issues. The aim of this paper is to discuss the environmental issues by determining
their consequences to the sustainability of the planet. Some of the topics discussed in this paper
include climate change, recycling, sewage, ozone, pollution and the Kyoto protocol just to name
but a few. Many countries around the world have adopted innovative technologies due to the
sensitive nature and the need for a rapid response. These technologies will help to reduce the
emission of greenhouse gases. An example of

Ethical Ethics In Nestle
Q3. c, Research the Internet and provide three examples where Nestle or its subsidiaries have
demonstrated ethical practices (i.e., giving back to the community).
NestlГ© is known to be one of the most hated companies in the world. Due to its several unethical
activities (like child labor, mislabelling, price fixing, pollution, its marketing of baby formula in
poor countries, etc.) that has received a lot of controversy and criticisms and even a long standing
boycott from consumers. However, if we look further into this company s history, Nestle was not
that evil. The proof is that we can still find out some ethical activities of Nestle recently.

French Influences In New Orleans
French concepts are all over America. Everyone who lives here experiences French elements in
their daily life. The root of these French influences come from when the French immigrated here
hundreds of years ago. The city with the most French influence is New Orleans. New Orleans
adopted many traditions and customs from the French. This is due to it once being Frances territory.
Even today, New Orleans still has many French qualities, New Orleans was once France s territory.
France owned present day Louisiana, and sold it to America in 1803. Since then, New Orleans has
become part of America but kept many French elements. For example, the French Quarter is the
main tourist destination. It is a neighborhood with French inspired hotels and

Credit Card Fraud
Running Head: Credit Card Fraud
Impact of Credit Card Fraud
Outline
Card Credit Fraud
Thesis Statement: Credit card fraud is an inclusive term for larceny and deception committed using
a credit card or any similar payment mechanism as a fraudulent source of funds in a transaction.
The purpose may be to attain goods without paying, or to achieve illegal resources from an account.
Credit card fraud is also an appendage to identity theft. According to the Federal Trade
Commission, while identity theft had been holding steady for the last few years, it saw a 21
percent increase in 2008..( Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book: January December 2008

They require a personal identification number (PIN) which may also be a violation. Card holders
have several countermeasures, including complex software which can assemble a vest interaction
and guesstimate the possibility of fraud. For example, a large trade occurring in a great distance
from the cardholder s home might seem mistrustful. Merchants may be commanded to call the card
holder for authentication, or reject the transaction or do whatever they want. Customers must call
the issuer and prove their identity to get their card back.
III. Compromised accounts Card bank account information is stored in a number of formats.
Account numbers formally the Primary Account Number (PAN) are often stamped or imprinted on
the card, and a magnetic streak on the back contains the data in machine readable format. Fields
can vary, but the most common include: * Name of card holder * Account number * Expiration
date * Verification/CVV code A. Card not present transactions
The major routes of fraud which is contrary for merchants who sale and ship products are the mail
and the internet as they affect legitimate mail order and Internet merchants. The card should be
present (called CNP, card not present) so the merchant can trust the issuer (or someone purporting
to be so) issuers present their information in any way they

College Success
For many years, the idea of success in life has been simple enough: a person embarks in school
for twelve years, follows up with college, and that will lead to them having a successful life and
career in adulthood. Meant to be a natural progression , for many, college was just the next step in
life and simply made sense. There weren t many other choices to be made in that regard. You
wanted a good life? You went to college. You wanted money? College. You do not want to work at
McDonald s for the rest of your life? College. You want a guaranteed future? College.
But this is, unsurprisingly, not an option and future open to many, but not to all and it is not so
simple to come by for many. Social class, race, location, the type of education received, and an
individual s personality all often play a part in a person s ability to get that next step in life to
better themselves. Even upon acceptance, success is not guaranteed to a person at all times, a
lesson I initially learned in a difficult manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

U.S. s Influence on British Cinema Culture Between 1930...
U.S. s Influence on British Cinema Culture Between 1930 and 1980
Britain and America have always had a very close relationship that could have stemmed from a
number of different things. The English discovered America, they both speak the same language
and the fact that America helped Britain in the first World War may have played an important part
in why the two countries are so close. Due to this close bond or the special relationship between the
countries, over time we have influenced each other endlessly but perhaps none more so than the
influence that America has had over British cinema between the 1930 s and 1980 s.

More British film companies emerged after this act was passed to ensure that they could meet the
requirements. Two companies in particular, British International Picture and Gaumont Picture
Company emerged shortly afterwards to help provide the required number of British films. As
these British films had to be produced by a British film company, some of them were of low
quality because they did not have funding from America. British films therefore gained a reputation
for being of low quality and generally poor.
However this changed leading up to and during the second World War when people increasingly
went to the cinema to keep spirits high whilst everywhere else there was devastation. The war
became the golden age in British cinema despite cinemas being closed at first but reopening as a
means of escape from life at the time. The types of film that were shown ranged from comedies to
thrillers such as Alfred Hitchcock s The Thirty Nine Steps. It was during this time that the
government realised how much money could be made in the film industry and began to put more
money towards making and producing films. There were also a great deal of American films at
this time but this was to change after the war. Britain put a tax on all American films to

He couldn t have gone far, said Spencer, stomping noisily through the forest.
Well, we won t find him as long as someone keeps making so much noise, Tess growled, poking

Listen, Tucker murmured, shushing them.
They quieted down and listened to the sounds of the valley and the forest around them.
Suddenly, they heard a soft sobbing sound coming from just over the hill in an area covered with
brush and dead old trees.
Quietly, they walked towards the sound. They came up on an old hollowed out tree, peeked in the
hole and there was Brodie. Curled up and crying.

there was a brand new bright, twinkling star in the sky.
Brodie s very own wishing star! Mama must have given me another star, he thought with a smile.
What did you wish for? his friends asked.
Brodie laughed and shook his head. If I tell you, it won t come true!
They laughed and started to play with Brodie s goo ball until it was bed time.
That night, Brodie didn t fuss or complain when he had to go to bed. He wasn t afraid of the dark

Position Paper On Declaration Of Independence
Position Paper
The Declaration of Independence states all the reasons why the colonies considered themselves
independent from England. Thomas Jefferson didn t believe in the reasons stated in the
Declaration of Independence. He simply used ideas from others to justify it. Jefferson says that all
men are created equal , and because of this they have certain unalienable rights. Thomas Jefferson
didn t think all men were equal. He refers to the Indians as the merciless Indian savages, whose
known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions. From
the way in which he describes them we can assume that he considered them inferior and
uncivilized. He was also a slave owner. A man, who did not believe that Indians and black people
are men couldn t use the idea that all men are created equal.
Jefferson says that among the unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These rights were originally John Locke s ideas, with the exception that he believed that property
was an unalienable right. The fact that Jefferson uses the pursuit of happiness instead of property is
proof that he didn t believe in these rights. If he really believed in them he would have mentioned
property. Perhaps the reason why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they were truly free then they wouldn t need to be ruled by anybody. If these rights are nothing

Brazil s situation
As per CIA handbook, Since 2003, Brazil has steadily improved macroeconomic stability,
building up foreign reserves, reducing its debt profile by shifting its debt burden toward real
denominated and domestically held instruments, adhering to an inflation target, and committing
to fiscal responsibility. In 2008, Brazil became a net external creditor and two ratings agencies
awarded investment grade status to its debt. After record growth in 2007 and 2008, the onset of
the global financial crisis hit Brazil in September 2008. Brazil s currency and its stock market
Bovespa saw large swings as foreign investors pulled resources out of Brazil. Brazil experienced
two quarters of recession, as global demand for Brazil s commodity based exports dwindled and
external credit dried up. However, Brazil was one of the first emerging markets to begin a
recovery. Consumer and investor confidence revived and GDP growth returned to positive in the

Although blockbuster exhibitions inspired by popular culture are moving away from the traditional
role of the museum as an educational institution, the blockbuster model can still stay true to the
museological goal of education. The First Emperor: China s Entombed Warriors at the Art Gallery
of New South Wales is an excellent example of how the original concept of the blockbuster
exhibition as a spectacular display of the wealth of an ancient civilisation, first seen in The
Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition at the British Museum, is still being used by museums today.
It is possible for institutions to produce exhibitions that reflect popular taste in ways that continue

Ethical Problems With Drones
Ethical Problems with Drone Usage Drones are a new and versatile technology with a multitude
of positive commercial, private, and governmental uses. They are much more than just an
invasion of privacy, when used in the hands of an experienced pilot with a good moral compass.
Commercial Drone Use Tim Yakaitis of Connecticut uses drones for filming property for real
estate listings and other services in his company DroneOn (Townsend, 2014). A simple
quadcopter drone with a GoPro camera hanging underneath, is all that is necessary for him to run
this niche business, which he supplements with commercial landscape photography from his
drone and on the ground. Commercial drones are a reasonably new niche for public drone use,
due to the recent innovation of working quad rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade
like a helicopter (Rothstein, 2015). Quad rotor designed drones allow for greatly increased
stability and hover ability, at the cost of reduced speed (Rothstein, 2015). This stability and hover
increase has put commercial drones on the map especially for use in cheap aerial photography
(Rothstein, 2015).. Private Use In the private research and conservation spheres of drone use,
Connecticut drone owners have used drones to monitor shoreline changes in the... Show more

previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers,
women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and
keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their

There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put
into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother,
because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at
home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and
choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the
mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their
families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide
if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition
of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or
the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a
mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will
be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be
devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack
of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have
shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they

Characters of Cold Mountain Essay
The film Cold Mountain, directed by Anthony Minghella, is set during the American Civil War
and tells the tales of two lovers, Inman and Ada. Inman is a strong, quiet and very moral country
boy, very different to the higher class Ada, who herself does not fit in with Inman s country
lifestyle. Just as Inman and Ada realise their lovefor each other Inman is forced to fight for the
South in the war, and Ada is left to look after herself. Inman then struggles to make his way back to

This can be seen in many other events in history such as during the holocaust in World War II.
Oskar Schindler saves almost a thousand Jews lives from near certain death by acting upon his
morals which tell him that the persecution that is occurring is not right. So through dialogue and
camera shots Minghella creates a strong impression of Inman, his resolution and his endurance.
Another character which Minghella creates a strong impression of is Ada. At the beginning of the
film Minghella presents Ada as a higher class southern belle and because of this we assume that
she will be frail, and not take well to hard times. Minghella uses costume to show that Ada is a
lady. For example Ada arrives into the small farming town of Cold Mountainwearing a very
impractical but beautiful white dress. However when the war starts and Ada is left on her own,
she is able to change and become a hard working southern girl, and she obtains a new found
strength to her character that neither she, nor the viewer, realised she had. She starts to dress in
far more practical farm clothes which are torn and dirty, and this change in costume reflects her
change in character. She learns how to run a farm, and for the first time in her life she does hard
labour, which when we first meet Ada we would not have predicted she could do. This change

The Renaissance And The Scientific Revolution
the Renaissance, also known as the rebirth, was a cultural movement that started an artistic
transformation and started the scientific revolution. This time period also links the transition from
the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the Modern Age. The Renaissance started in Italy in
the 14th century and spread to northern Europe by the 16th century.
During the Renaissance artists changed the way they painted and sculpted, they learned how to
paint in all three dimensions, which brought life and realism to their works. Also, getting away
from the religious roots of art created an entirely new type of art that was rich in drama and
emotion. This was also the time period when painting with oils was started.
In this paper I m focusing mainly on Renaissance art work, since that was the assignment, but I feel
it s important to also mention the other important partsof the Renaissance, architecture, science,
politics and religion.

The Struggle For Improving Reproductive Rights
Her Body, Her Rights Throughout American history, women have faced many challenges to earn
equal rights in almost all aspects of life. Although changes have been made, today there are still
battle to be won. One of these issues is the struggle for improving reproductive rights. Women are
often judged for their maternal decisions, whether that is in choosing surrogacy, abortion, and even
those who choose different forms of contraception. Over the years, Planned Parenthood and other
health services have recieved a negative connotation for what services they provide, especially on
the basis of providing abortion services. With our new president in office, women are concerned

This makes for a major divide in what should be done in the case of women having an abortion.
In Paula Abram s The Bad Mother: Stigma, Abortions, and Surrogacy, she talks about how
stigma is placed on both surrogacy and abortion because conservatives view them both as
unnatural ways of maternity. What people on this side of the argument fail to understand is that
women seek a surrogate when they are physically incapable of carrying a child, but want to start a
family. Stigma is tied heavily into surrogacy, because not only are women seeking this service, but
gay and trans people seek to start families, and use surrogacy to do so. Stigma is also placed here
because others believe that surrogacy disrupts the traditional expectations regarding pregnancy. But
because of recent laws that allowed gay couples the right to marry, this opened up the opportunity
for gay and trans couples to start families. This is not to say that gay and trans couples weren t
already starting families through surrogacy and adoption, but the right to marry allows them the
opportunity to make for a more traditional process of marriage and family. Surrogacy has allowed
married couples, unmarried couples, and even singles to raise children and families, which may
seem untraditional to some, but a way of life for others. On the spectrum of abortion, most
conservatives view abortion as the murder of an unborn child. Most conservatives will

Types Of Portfolio Management
Under certain conditions, however, the possibility of unexpected concentration among some
industries may exist, especially in the period of irrational exuberance and overestimated valuations.
In the 1990s, for example, the upsurge in investing in technology companies resulted in a market
bubble. The technology firms concentrated extremely high on the stock index. Accordingly,
investors were putting at a high risk for the reason that these overvalued companies were given
ownership which was out of proportion by the stocks bought by passive market funds. The aim of
passive funds is not to outperform the market or the index, but to follow the tracks of them. As a

Standard deviations are an indicator of market volatility and represent risk. The lower standard
deviations, the lower risks of portfolios. Even though the expected market return of active
portfolio does not perform well, the risk of active portfolio is minimized. There is no short
selling in the active portfolio and the the active portfolio is diversified through balanced
investment of these ten stocks. Furthermore, the weights of 10 stocks in the active portfolio are
more balanced than the passive portfolio. Therefore, the investors who pursue high expected
market return should choose passive portfolio and risk averse investors should choose active
portfolio. The investors should consider transaction fees and management fees of active
portfolio and investors can insist on choosing active portfolio if they believe they can have
higher return that offset these fees. In conclusion, the active investing is more flexible than
passive investing because active investing does not have to follow a specific index like S P 500.
According to Elton and Gruber (1997), the choice of the portfolio manager to choose for active
portfolio is mainly based on his or her perception on the degree of market efficiency. There is no
doubt that active investing is superior to passive portfolio when market mis priced the asset. But

through numerous programs at schools. Despite this, people still choose to smoke and callously
ignore the unending dire warnings that smokingis a leading cause of cancer, numerous other
debilitating health problems, bad personal hygiene and social disgrace. Most people however, are
also very much unaware that smoking can have adverse effects on the animals around them. The
advertisement Catmageddon presented by Truth Orange does a powerful job in persuading young
adults to not smoke though the use of logos, pathos, and ethos.
The purpose of this advertisement is to show young adults the negative effect smoking has on
animals. It is an appeal to young adults through the use of up to date jargon and social norms in
creating current relatable memes and music. To spread the message, Truth Orange focuses mainly
on cats that are famous from their appearances in a wide array of YouTube videos. The
commercials show a cat that plays the piano, another cat gliding around on a Rumba, and cats
chasing laser pointers. The primary target audience is young adults ... Show more content on

This is first seen when the advertisement shows the fact graphic: Cats are twice as likely to get
cancer if their owner smokes. This graphic inserts the relationship into the viewer s mind that if
smoking harms cats, then the people who smoke are harming cats directly. The commercial
continues with the idea reaching its logical conclusion that if people who smoke kill cats, and I
smoke, then I will be killing my own cat. Since the whole purpose of the advertisement is to stop
young adults from smoking, then putting forth the idea that everyone would be angry with that
person for killing the cat/cat videos acts as a form of peer

CLABSI Summary
The prevention and elimination of CLABSI in hospitals, specially in critical care units, have
being a problem for many years. New research and strategies have been performed, however,
CLABSI rates have remained at unacceptable levels. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate
that the use of an antimicrobial PICC will decrease the incidence of PICC associated CLABSI rate
for the acute and critical care environments of hospitals. On 2014, The Influence of an
Antimicrobial Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter on Central Line Associated Bloodstream
Infections in a HospitalEnvironment by Glenell S. Rutkoff, MSN, RN, CGRN, was published on

not fully comparable with respect to underlying conditions or admitting diagnosis that might have
predisposed the patients to CLABSI. The variables collected on each diagnosis varied greatly
between patients and did not offer a pattern to code effectively for known CLABSI risk factors. The
quasiexperimental design could only provide evidence of probability. The retrospective data for the
nonintervention group was another limitation. In addition, the inability of the researcher to

Example Of Multiculturalism In Counseling
Multiculturalism
The counseling profession it s self has progressed tremendously over the last century, with the
creation of ethical standards and concerns for multiculturalism. Before 1962, multiculturalism was
not identified as a concern; professional counselors could provide or deny services due to any
diversity. Counselors were stuck in stereotypical thinking and didn t take concern for other s
personal identifications. Wren was the first of many to bring the topic of multiculturalism to the
awareness of professionals. Issues and concerns continued to be identified over the years, causing
changes in the way professionals handled cultural diverse issues. In 1992, Multicultural
competencies and standards were published to assist professionals in working with people of
difference. Multiculturalism also is written in the ACA code of Ethics, taking into account
differences in language, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, physical abilities, race,
culture, and ethnicity. Even aft the century of modifications of the counseling profession, there
continues to be new issues and concerns that will need to be addressed to continue improving the
lives of our society.
The main issues to remember when it comes to multicultural counseling is that everyone should be
treated as equal, no matter the differences in language, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual
orientation, physical abilities or appearance, race, culture, and ethnicity. For a professional
counselor, it is

Susan Glaspell s Trifles And A Jury Of Her Peers
Although A Jury of Her Peers and Trifles are similar in plot, Mustazza s article, Generic
Translation and Thematic Shift in Susan Glaspell s Trifles and A Jury of Her Peers highlights the
differences and similarities between the two. Mustazza s article may help aid readers to
understand the differences between Glaspell s two works and provide understanding as to why
Glaspell may have changed the genre and form of the plot. Trifles is a dramatic play whereas A Jury
of Her Peers is prose fiction. While some differences may be seen on the surface, other differences
will need to be inspected closely. Mustazza s article may help one to understand Glaspell s works
by providing analysis and additional perspectives on both A Jury of her Peers and Trifles .
The most obvious difference between Glaspell s two works is the title. The play is entitled Trifles
whereas the prose version is called A Jury of Her Peers . Both titles draw the attention of the
audience to different parts of the plot. Trifles highlights the trivial household items in the plot
whereas A Jury of Her Peers accentuates the women s roles and how they question what is
morally right (Mustazza 489). Mustazza s article provides background knowledge and a reason
why Glaspell may have changed and retitled the prose version. Since women were in the final
years of fighting for the right to vote in 1917, changing the title from Trifles to A Jury of Her Peers
made the piece more contemporary and

Results The data has excluded 5 participants because their information was not fully completed and
their data was not analysed. The independent variable of the experiment the group the participants
were random assigned to the economic uncertainty condition or the control condition of the article.
The dependent variable in this experiment was the amount of risk taking each participant made on
a scale of 1 being completely risk averse and 2 being solely risk taking. The experiment also
measured approach motivation with the BAS scale and anxiety with the BIS scale. The results of
our data clearly display the framing effect, as shown by people taking more risks in conditions
where decisions were framed as losses in comparison to gains, even when both decisions were equal
mathematically. The primary results indicated that there was no main effect of risk taking and
economic uncertainty. Furthermore, there was no link found between the economic uncertainty
and the trait approach motivation on risky decision making. Overall both main hypothesises were
not supported by the data. In exploratory analyses of the data reveals there is an interaction effect
between the economic uncertainty group and trait anxiety on risky decision making. This can be
seen in figure 1 as people with high trait anxiety that are randomly assigned to the economic

Truck Drivers Research Paper
Nearly everything you see in stores and even in your home was, at some point, transported
overland by a truck. Tractor trailer rigs in particular, haul cargo over longer distances than those
covered by local delivery trucks. Because of this, they carry much heavier loads and can weigh up
to 80,000 pounds. This makes them 20 to 30 times heavier than the average car.
Truck drivers must obey the same traffic rules as other vehicles on the road and like many
motorists, their negligence can cause an accident. However, in a tractor trailer accident, the result
can be devastating to the occupants of the other vehicle. Their overwhelming size and weight can
completely demolish smaller vehicles. This is why so many federal regulations specifically ... Show

Truck drivers with multiple traffic violations and tractor trailer accidents on their driving record
are somehow able to get rehired several times. These types of drivers rarely improve their records
because of their dangerous driving habits. Habits are notoriously difficult to change.
Trucking carriers are increasingly hiring inexperienced drivers because of the current driver
shortage. Most of the experienced drivers are retiring, which means a dangerously large percentage
of truck drivers on the road today have minimal experience.
Distracted Driving
Truck drivers are distracted by many of the same things as the ordinary motorist. These include cell
phone conversations, texting, GPS programming, mobile app use, eating, daydreaming, reaching
for objects, and other distractions both inside and outside of the truck.
Fatigue
Federally mandated hours of service rules directed at ensuring that truck drivers get their rest,
such as placing maximum time limits on continuous driving, do not necessarily keep fatigued
drivers off the road. Drivers may fail to get a good night s rest or knowingly violate regulations in
order to meet their schedules. Fatigue can impair driving as severely as intoxication, and in
extreme cases, cause the driver to fall asleep at the

Existentialism And The Existentialist Ideas Behind...
Introduction Existentialism is a theory of philosophy that stepped away from ideas that there is
any single unifying reality or reason to existence and that we should approach philosophy from a
perspective of what we can perceive to be true, not what we think is true without being able to
perceive it. In that mindset, it tries to examine what a person s perception of reality can be, their
place is in that reality, how they approach their own existence given that information, and how,
based on those determinations, should they choose to act within that reality. To explore the ideas
behind existentialismI will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a few main features of
existentialism and give particular focus to the existentialist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Beyond the idea of individual existence, existentialists also embrace individual freedom to self
determine and create yourself in the world. People should not be expected to act according to
any perceived universal ideal but to act as they choose within their own beliefs. This results in
people living as their true selves. As a result of this idea, people would hold total responsibility
for their actions. The existentialist would reject that a person is chained by their nature or
should act to meet the standards of some outside entity, organization, or belief system. In my
opinion, this is one of the strengths of existentialist ideas in that an individual s decisions are
their own in all ways. They cannot, and should not, shirk responsibility for any actions because
they had to act in accordance with a particular belief system, orders from authority, or because of
urges to do so. Assuming the individual is of sound mind, if following existentialist ideals, they
can rest assured that they are where the buck stops for accountability. However, this results in
two issues. The first is that by following this ideal outlined by existentialists, are you acting
freely of your own accord or are you just trying to follow the ideals of others and only acting in an
incorrectly perceived freedom? The second being that if we are each acting in accordance with our

Massage Therapy Essay
Massage Therapy is an alternative medicine practice that involves the use of different types of
strokes that are done with the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows of a specially trained person.
The strokes are done to manipulate the soft tissues and muscles of one s body in an attempt to
relax and relieve the person from symptoms and disorders they may be experiencing. There are
many different types of massages that can be performed and some are better than others for
relieving certain conditions. Some common types of massageinclude the Swedish massage, the

The Ruger Air Magnum Combo is a break barrel, spring piston air rifle which gives hard hitting
power. It can attain an impressive velocity of 1400 fps, above average for its class. Some nice
features of the rifle are the adjustable two stage trigger and the automatic safety.
Included in the package is the 4x32 scope and mount. You can also use the fully adjustable fiber
optic rear sight and fiber optic front sight to focus on your target. This air rifle has good durability
and can be used on any weather condition, thanks to its Ambi Monte Carlo stock. A shooter can use

People who bought the rifle said that it is powerful and good to use for hunting small game. The
adjustable trigger and automatic safety are some of the features that they liked. The air rifle has
very good knockdown capability especially if you use heavy pellets.
There are some negative comments about the product. Since the Ruger Air Magnum is a spring
piston air rifle, it does recoil. This can affect the accuracy when shooting. It also causes some
discomfort; fortunately, it has a rubber recoil pad to minimize that. A number of people expressed
their dissatisfaction with the telescopic sight that comes with the rifle. The 4x32 scope did not
function very well and sighting in can be difficult.
Another issue is the loud sound produced when shooting. This is due to the high velocity (up to
1400 fps). This can be a concern if you live in a highly populated neighbourhood. In some
instances, it may also be hard to cock the rifle and you need to put some effort into it.
Overall, the Ruger Air Magnum Combo air rifle is a good product that delivers a lot of power and

General Electric Arbitrage Essay
GE/Honeywell Arbitrage Jessica Gallinelli s arbitrage investment firm is evaluating the acquisition
of Honeywell International by General Electric. The deal represents the acquisition of a firm that
produces components that compliment General Electric s existing product offerings. Honeywell
and General Electric are both market leaders whose combined products offer a very comprehensive
offering of airline and control components. Both firms are U.S. based corporations with vast multi
national operations. The deal appears cleared of U.S. anti trust regulators, and the legendary
stewardship of GE by Jack Welch adds a perceived impetus of inevitability, however the European
Union approaches competitive issues much more broadly by concentrating on both horizontal and
vertical merger ramifications for the competitive landscape. Gallinelli s arbitrage investment is
structured with 30% of the firm s money, therefore an anti trust investigation could significantly
erode profits if there is a lengthy investigation, which might run as long as 2 years (Elliot, 2001).
The combination of GE and Honeywell enables the firm to bundle products with financing through
leases and presents a significant threat to competitors. Competitors may create offerings of equal or
superior quality to GE, however the bundling of such a vast array of products and services may
serve to shut out competition and support a near monopoly in the aviation component industry. The
successful arbitrage must

Essay Financial Markets Deregulate
Thanks to deregulation technological advances, Financial Markets are all interlinked. Funds can
thus be raised overseas, not only domestically.
Deregulation is the process by which rules and regulations are removed or reduced in order to make
markets increasingly efficient. The rationale behind this is that deregulation will promote
competitiveness, and therefore result in lower prices and a more efficient marketplace.
To realise the effect of deregulation and technological advances on financial markets, we first have
to understand what financial markets are. Basically, a financial market is a mechanism that allows
people to buy and sell financial securities, commodities and other fungible items of low value at

With easy accessibility of the Internet, financial information can be disseminated quickly and hence
investors are able to make better informed decisions. This accessibility of information and
deregulation has encouraged foreign investments, and we can see the surge of new financial
products and an increase in financial innovation in the markets today. Stocks can now be dual
listed, traded across markets in two different countries. For example, many large Canadian
companies are listed both on the New York Stock Exchangeas well as the Toronto Stock
Exchange. There are also Brazilian based companies listed on both the Brazilian and US stock
markets. This adds greater liquidity to the companies shares traded, and also gives investors more
options as to where they can trade.
The reduction of government restrictions has even allowed stock markets to take it one step
further. We hear of the Nasdaq owning 31% of the London Stock Exchange s (LSE) shares and
talks of acquiring it were in the works, but they have now decided to focus instead on taking over
Sweden s OMX AB. In late June this year, the LSE announced a merger with the Borsa Italiana

not occurred.
In Singapore, the ability to trade stocks and shares has become easily accessible due to online

Alcohol Abuse Should Not Be Confused With Alcoholism Or...
Alcohol abuse should not be confused with alcoholism or alcohol dependence. It is important to
note the difference between the three. It is predicted that alcohol abuse affects individual
physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Although some psychological, physical and
economical effects may occur with both, alcohol abuseand alcohol dependence (alcoholism) for the
purpose of this paper the alcohol abuse is the main focus.
Introduction
Alcohol abuse is a serious disease that impacts individual psychologically, physically and
economically. In order to better understand alcoholism, it is important to be able to see the
difference between alcohol abuse, and alcohol dependence. According to Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th edition (DSM IV), alcohol abuse and alcohol
dependence were defined as two distinct disorders with specific criteria for each (APA, 2013).
In May, 2013, the 5th edition of DSM (DSM V) integrated alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence
into one disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD). Diagnostic criteria for DSM IV defined
alcohol abuse as anyone meeting one or more criteria within a 12 month period. The alcohol
dependence criteria for DSM IV identified dependence as anyone meeting three or more criteria
during the 12 month period (APA, 2013). However, in DSM V, anyone who meets any two of the
11 criteria will be diagnosed with AUD (2013). The severity of AUD could be severe, moderate,
and mild. The severity is based on

Everyday Life And Existence In Thornton Wilder s Our Town
Throughout time, many things have changed dramatically. Technology, food, culture, and the
quality of life are just a few examples of how our life has been altered. However, there is one
thing that has not changed much: the view of human life and existence. Humans want and have
the need to be unique, yet this is just an implausible figment of the imagination. Life unveils
itself for everyone in the same way when it comes to love, death, and other worldly things.
Everyone has the intention of a perfect life. Thornton Wilder looks into the idea of the
similarities of everyday life and existence in his play, Our Town; this is also explored in various
genres. One genre, movies, explores the idea of similarities of everyday life and existence. In a
scene from the movie Hope Floats, the mother tells her daughter: I m just an ordinary person. And

One part of the poem Lucinda Matlock gives a quote that can apply to most people s lives: And
then I found Davis. We were married and lived together for seventy years. This shows that the
woman in the poem has found her soulmate. She proves that true love actually is possible. She
also believes that love is important and a significant part in life; she must have believed that if
she lived with her husband for 70 years. In Our Town, George and Emily go to a drug store to
drink sodas. George tells Emily, I think that once you ve found a person that you re very fond
of...I mean a person who s fond of you too, and likes you enough to be interested in your
character...Well, I think that s just as important as college is, and even more so. George, like the
woman in the poem, believes love plays a major role in life; he believes it is something worth
pursuing. Most people have two beliefs: either they hold love to be important, or they do not think
it plays a major role in life. This makes people similar in the aspect of

The Importance Of Gun Violence And Gun Laws
Mental health and mass shootings seem to go hand in hand, especially when the talk of gun laws
comes up.The debate about gun laws getting stricter due to the mass shootings across the country
has been stewing for about 18 years now. What sparked the debate was back in 1999, Columbine
High School was involved in a mass shooting killing 12. This is one of the many examples that
could define the gun violence and mass shootings in our country. As there seems to be a direct
correlation between gun violence and mental illness. Now rather than enforcing stricter gun laws in
the wake of recent gun violence events, the federal government should fund mental health
programs. Due to the outbreak of mass shootings in the country, and the violence associated with
gun people want stricter laws.In 1787 the constitution was written and gave us the right to bear
arms. When it comes to the restrictions pertaining to guns they are all state based. The country as
a whole has very minimal restrictions. That doesn t mean that there are no proposed laws. Some
of the laws that congress has voted on are as follows Tighten up background checks... Expand
background checks...Prevent suspected terrorists from buying guns(Republican version)... Prevent
suspected terrorists from buying guns(Democratic Version) (Phillips). The laws proposed are
good in theory, but will most likely never get passed because much of Congress seems to never
agree.Terrorism is a problem and it is a dangerous issue, but the real issue is mental health. It is a
constitutional right to be able to have a weapon and most states have strict laws.
There is a debate surrounding the topic of gun laws and it is whether we should have more or
less gun control. It was a very popular subject during the 2016 election. The debate is a very
republican vs democrat debate because of the views they have.In the 2016 election, the Democratic
candidate Hillary Clinton states, We can have common sense gun reforms that keep weapons out of
the hands of criminals and the violently unstable ( Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted
).What the message behind this is that there needs to be reform to be stricter to help keep guns out
of the criminals and mentally unstable hands.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
While teacher training instruction has long led movements in higher education toward more active
learning (student engagement in the classroom coupled with language teaching practicums),
blended learning, with a mix of on line and in person learning opportunities, is not yet in
widespread use. Increasingly, publishers of textbooks provide on line resources, both audio and
video, but faculty members need time to explore how to use these resources more effectively.
With continuing support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the World Language

Feasibility Report on Internationalisation of an Australian Company
Executive Summary
The following feasibility report on JT Toy s interest to manufacture overseas has thoroughly
explored the positive and negative aspects of local production in comparison to moving its
operations to China. Manufacturing methods, such as a wholly owned subsidiary; owning and
controlling a factory in China, a strategic alliance and licensing agreements have been analysed in
detail.
The evidence shows that moving part of the business to China as a wholly owned subsidiary, whilst
keeping its headquarters in Melbourne would be the most beneficial long term option. Paying
royalties and dividing profit with an overseas company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A wholly owned subsidiary in China would consequently be ideal, so long as it is a strategic
/tactical long term plan.
A strategic alliance is defined as where two or more independent organisations set up a co operative
partnership to gain mutual strategic advantage. (Bartol, K, Tein, M, Matthews). This option would
involve JT Toys aligning itself with a pre existing Chinese manufacturing company, and using each
other s strengths for a mutual advantage. The Chinese company could produce toys with their
cheaper labour and production costs, while using the established brand of JT Toys, as well as their
vision and successful standing in the Australian market.

Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl
I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative
consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have
can create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was
widely acted upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead
to, creating The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust
Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues
to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large
section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused
by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming
had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more
profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more
and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after
field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl
on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the
plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). So when farmers
would plow the land, they were disturbing what was keeping all the land in

Trump a little.

King Lear and A Thousand Acres Comparative Literary Analysis
King Lear, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is about the delegation of power from the old
generation to the young, new generation. Furthermore, the play demonstrates problems that can
arise from a transfer made too early, from one generation to the next. A Thousand Acres is a
modern retelling of King Lear, that is similar to King Lear, but it is not an exact word for word
copy. The overall plot has been retained from King Lear, but some of the minor details have been
changed to provide an intriguing new take on the same story. One such change is the fact the
story goes from a third person view in King Lear, mostly following King Lear, to a first person
narrative from the perspective of Ginny in A Thousand Acres. Ginny is the modern day version for
Goneril s character. King Lear and A Thousand Acres may take place in two different time periods;
they both offer comments on the status of women, familyrelationships, and the natural order of
things. The two time periods may be different, one modern day and the other set in the past,
however the ideas presented are not that different on a whole. Both works presented share the same
common thematic and universal elements throughout. King Lear and A Thousand Acres discuss
the role and status of women similarly. In King Lear women were considered lower status than
their male counterparts. This is true even of women who would today be considered equal to men,
such as a man and a women who went to college and acquired the same

Counter Fire Task Force Mission Report
I have been here in this Battalion for just under eleven months now; the main mission that the
Battalion plays is to support the Counter Fire Task Force if North Korea were ever to attack.
Within the Battalion there are three Batteries, two firing Batteries with M270 Multi Launch Rocket
Systems (MLRS) assigned, a Headquarter and Headquarters Battery and a Forward Support
Company(FSC). As I said in the introduction, I am only over here for one year; this means that

Currently there is an incentive option to encourage Soldiers to extend for an additional year in
Korea; this is known as the Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP) Option, where you get an
additional three hundred dollars a month from the moment you sign the documents to extend
until you leave the country. Although this is a nice option to have, many Soldiers and leaders
still choose not to stay any longer than their one year obligation. As I see it the only way to get
Soldiers and leaders to stay is to make them stay. To develop a proper way ahead and remain
flexible to change as needed throughout the process, Kotter s eight step approach to change
would allow for a good strategy rather than plan to allow for the Army to accomplish this
mission. The first step on Kotter s approach is to develop a sense of urgency; just like most
things in life, if you re not being pushed by someone of something to accomplish a task than you
will wait and it may not get done to standard or at all. Step one, I would decide on a date that we
would start implementing the normal accompanied tour and send out a MILPER message across
the entire force to all active duty personnel s email. I would stress that we are transitioning back to
the longer tour to enhance readiness and detour any aggressions from North Korea. With Soldiers
returning with their families, there would a large need of construction of support facilities for these
families; currently there are no schools on the instillation that I am assigned. We could make this
campaign a partnership with the local community and provide jobs and boost the local

Narcissism In Romantic Relationships
Introduction
Most people envision someone in particular when hearing the word narcissist , yet not as many
people would think of themselves. When you have a narcissistic personality disorder, you may not
want to think that anything could be wrong because doing so wouldn t fit with your self image of
power and perfection (Mayo Clinic, 20140). Today, narcissismis viewed in a low light, which is
why even narcissists wouldn t openly want to admit they are narcissistic. Narcissism has been
studied in communication research, especially regarding narcissism and relationships. Although
narcissism tends to be looked down upon, studies have shown that there are positives associated
with people who possess this trait, both in their personal lives and in romantic relationships.
The purpose of this literature review is to study what is known about narcissism in relationships, the
bright side of narcissists and how they can contribute to society, and topics for future research.
There has been a vast amount of research conducted on narcissism in relationships, mostly
highlighting this trait being linked to conflict, anger, unrequited love, and infidelity and
commitment issues. Some research underlines positive outcomes associated with narcissism such
as motivation to volunteer, and unquestionable trust in romantic partners. In this literature review I
will discuss current research on this topic. I will first explain the background of narcissism and
define the disorder. Next, I will

Analysis Of Fagles s Antigone
While Ismene s language relies heavily upon a Northern Irish dialect, differences between Paulin
s Ismene and Fagles go further. In Fagles s Antigone, Ismene is a voice of reason in contrast to
her rash and hot headed sister. She advocates prudence as sensible . Paulin s work offers an
Ismene translated not only linguistically but also in personality. As this Ismene warns Antigone,
she thinks only of the punishment. Her concern is not that the two would defy the state but that
they would die and in a most unpleasant manner. Her speech emphasizes the concern for them
rather than the state as she stresses how we ll die and repeatedly speaks of what will happen to us
. These lines clearly mark a point at which Paulin chose fidelity to Ismene s Irishness over fidelity
to Sophocles s politics. However, these lines also raise questions about the nature of Irishness. Is
Ismene s rational response, in the original, inherently un Irish and untranslatable into an Irish
context? And, if so, is Paulin suggesting here that the Irish are the overly emotional and hot
blooded people that stereotypes have made them out to be? More than a simple substitution of
standard English for Irish English, Paulin s translationraises such questions throughout. As he
translates, Paulin displaces Irishness, removing it from a familiar context defined by Irish/English
dichotomies, character stereotypes, and the trite settings and practices expected of conventional
Irish plays.

in school, and is an effect of their disinterest as well.
3. According to Steinberg s study, what happens when students stop working twenty or more hours
per week?
According to the study, students often begin to become more engaged in the classroom

When somebody leaves a family due to the lack of parenting because the bipolar is taking control of them children are now having to take over the role of the parenting jobs because who else will be there for them? Children learn from children; it is so unlikely for a child to learn from a parent being diagnosed with bipolar. With all the fighting going on, it will build up stress upon everybody else, having stress in a house will only make thing ten times worse because with everybody being stressed out, they will get annoyed faster, don t have the patience, and just do what they feel like doing just so they can get the stress off them and take it onto somebody else and that will cause more fighting, arguing, and yelling and where does that get you? Absolutely nowhere but back to where it all started. Mood swings are also a big part of the disorder; you think everybody has mood swings? Credit Card Fraud Running Head: Credit Card Fraud Impact of Credit Card Fraud Outline Card Credit Fraud Thesis Statement: Credit card fraud is an inclusive term for larceny and deception committed using a credit card or any similar payment mechanism as a fraudulent source of funds in a transaction. The purpose may be to attain goods without paying, or to achieve illegal resources from an account. Credit card fraud is also an appendage to identity theft. College Success For many years, the idea of success in life has been simple enough: a person embarks in school for twelve years, follows up with college, and that will lead to them having a successful life and career in adulthood. Meant to be a natural progression , for many, college was just the next step in life and simply made sense. There weren t many other choices to be made in that regard. You wanted a good life? You went to college. You wanted money? College. You do not want to work at McDonald s for the rest of your life? College. You want a guaranteed future? College. But this is, unsurprisingly, not an option and future open to many, but not to all and it is not so simple to come by for many. Social class, race, location, the type of education received, and an individual s personality all often play a part in a person s ability to get that next step in life to better themselves. U.S. s Influence on British Cinema Culture Between 1930 and 1980 Britain and America have always had a very close relationship that could have stemmed from a number of different things. The English discovered America, they both speak the same language and the fact that America helped Britain in the first World War may have played an important part in why the two countries are so close. Due to this close bond or the special relationship between the countries, over time we have influenced each other endlessly but perhaps none more so than the influence that America has had over British cinema between the 1930 s and 1980 s. More British film companies emerged after this act was passed to ensure that they could meet the requirements. Two companies in particular, British International Picture and Gaumont Picture Company emerged shortly afterwards to help provide the required number of British films. As these British films had to be produced by a British film company, some of them were of low quality because they did not have funding from America. British films therefore gained a reputation for being of low quality and generally poor. However this changed leading up to and during the second World War when people increasingly went to the cinema to keep spirits high whilst everywhere else there was devastation. The war became the golden age in British cinema despite cinemas being closed at first but reopening as a means of escape from life at the time. The types of film that were shown ranged from comedies to thrillers such as Alfred Hitchcock s The Thirty Nine Steps. It was during this time that the government realised how much money could be made in the film industry and began to put more money towards making and producing films. • 10. Position Paper On Declaration Of Independence Position Paper The Declaration of Independence states all the reasons why the colonies considered themselves independent from England. Thomas Jefferson didn t believe in the reasons stated in the Declaration of Independence. He simply used ideas from others to justify it. Jefferson says that all men are created equal , and because of this they have certain unalienable rights. Thomas Jefferson didn t think all men were equal. He refers to the Indians as the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions. From the way in which he describes them we can assume that he considered them inferior and uncivilized. He was also a slave owner. A man, who did not believe that Indians and black people are men couldn t use the idea that all men are created equal. Jefferson says that among the unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These rights were originally John Locke s ideas, with the exception that he believed that property was an unalienable right. The fact that Jefferson uses the pursuit of happiness instead of property is proof that he didn t believe in these rights. If he really believed in them he would have mentioned property. They are much more than just an invasion of privacy, when used in the hands of an experienced pilot with a good moral compass. Commercial Drone Use Tim Yakaitis of Connecticut uses drones for filming property for real estate listings and other services in his company DroneOn (Townsend, 2014). A simple quadcopter drone with a GoPro camera hanging underneath, is all that is necessary for him to run this niche business, which he supplements with commercial landscape photography from his drone and on the ground. Commercial drones are a reasonably new niche for public drone use, due to the recent innovation of working quad rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade like a helicopter (Rothstein, 2015). Quad rotor designed drones allow for greatly increased stability and hover ability, at the cost of reduced speed (Rothstein, 2015). This stability and hover increase has put commercial drones on the map especially for use in cheap aerial photography (Rothstein, 2015).. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. At the beginning of the film Minghella presents Ada as a higher class southern belle and because of this we assume that she will be frail, and not take well to hard times. Minghella uses costume to show that Ada is a lady. For example Ada arrives into the small farming town of Cold Mountainwearing a very impractical but beautiful white dress. However when the war starts and Ada is left on her own, she is able to change and become a hard working southern girl, and she obtains a new found strength to her character that neither she, nor the viewer, realised she had. She starts to dress in far more practical farm clothes which are torn and dirty, and this change in costume reflects her change in character. The Renaissance And The Scientific Revolution the Renaissance, also known as the rebirth, was a cultural movement that started an artistic transformation and started the scientific revolution. This time period also links the transition from the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the Modern Age. The Renaissance started in Italy in the 14th century and spread to northern Europe by the 16th century. During the Renaissance artists changed the way they painted and sculpted, they learned how to paint in all three dimensions, which brought life and realism to their works. This makes for a major divide in what should be done in the case of women having an abortion. In Paula Abram s The Bad Mother: Stigma, Abortions, and Surrogacy, she talks about how stigma is placed on both surrogacy and abortion because conservatives view them both as unnatural ways of maternity. What people on this side of the argument fail to understand is that women seek a surrogate when they are physically incapable of carrying a child, but want to start a family. Stigma is tied heavily into surrogacy, because not only are women seeking this service, but gay and trans people seek to start families, and use surrogacy to do so. Stigma is also placed here because others believe that surrogacy disrupts the traditional expectations regarding pregnancy. But because of recent laws that allowed gay couples the right to marry, this opened up the opportunity for gay and trans couples to start families. This is not to say that gay and trans couples weren t already starting families through surrogacy and adoption, but the right to marry allows them the opportunity to make for a more traditional process of marriage and family. Surrogacy has allowed married couples, unmarried couples, and even singles to raise children and families, which may seem untraditional to some, but a way of life for others. Types Of Portfolio Management Under certain conditions, however, the possibility of unexpected concentration among some industries may exist, especially in the period of irrational exuberance and overestimated valuations. In the 1990s, for example, the upsurge in investing in technology companies resulted in a market bubble. The technology firms concentrated extremely high on the stock index. Accordingly, investors were putting at a high risk for the reason that these overvalued companies were given ownership which was out of proportion by the stocks bought by passive market funds. Introduction Existentialism is a theory of philosophy that stepped away from ideas that there is any single unifying reality or reason to existence and that we should approach philosophy from a perspective of what we can perceive to be true, not what we think is true without being able to perceive it. In that mindset, it tries to examine what a person s perception of reality can be, their place is in that reality, how they approach their own existence given that information, and how, based on those determinations, should they choose to act within that reality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond the idea of individual existence, existentialists also embrace individual freedom to self determine and create yourself in the world. People should not be expected to act according to any perceived universal ideal but to act as they choose within their own beliefs. This results in people living as their true selves. As a result of this idea, people would hold total responsibility for their actions. The existentialist would reject that a person is chained by their nature or should act to meet the standards of some outside entity, organization, or belief system. In my opinion, this is one of the strengths of existentialist ideas in that an individual s decisions are their own in all ways. They cannot, and should not, shirk responsibility for any actions because they had to act in accordance with a particular belief system, orders from authority, or because of urges to do so. Assuming the individual is of sound mind, if following existentialist ideals, they can rest assured that they are where the buck stops for accountability. However, this results in two issues. The Younger family in A Raisin in the Sun is struggling socially and economically, but comes together in the end to purchase a home. Walter and Benetha learn the value of family toward the end of the play. Benetha denies Walter as a brother after he looses the large amount money that was going to contribute to her schooling, in a get rich quick scheme. The family has come together to deny Mr. Lindner racist remarks regarding the home. Lena youngers dream of the family coming together to purchase a brand new home is now her reality. • 42. Everyday Life And Existence In Thornton Wilder s Our Town Throughout time, many things have changed dramatically. Technology, food, culture, and the quality of life are just a few examples of how our life has been altered. However, there is one thing that has not changed much: the view of human life and existence. Humans want and have the need to be unique, yet this is just an implausible figment of the imagination. Life unveils itself for everyone in the same way when it comes to love, death, and other worldly things. Everyone has the intention of a perfect life. Thornton Wilder looks into the idea of the similarities of everyday life and existence in his play, Our Town; this is also explored in various genres. One genre, movies, explores the idea of similarities of everyday life and existence. In a scene from the movie Hope Floats, the mother tells her daughter: I m just an ordinary person. And that s... In Our Town, George and Emily go to a drug store to drink sodas. George tells Emily, I think that once you ve found a person that you re very fond of...I mean a person who s fond of you too, and likes you enough to be interested in your character...Well, I think that s just as important as college is, and even more so. • 43. The Importance Of Gun Violence And Gun Laws Mental health and mass shootings seem to go hand in hand, especially when the talk of gun laws comes up.The debate about gun laws getting stricter due to the mass shootings across the country has been stewing for about 18 years now. What sparked the debate was back in 1999, Columbine High School was involved in a mass shooting killing 12. This is one of the many examples that could define the gun violence and mass shootings in our country. As there seems to be a direct correlation between gun violence and mental illness. Now rather than enforcing stricter gun laws in the wake of recent gun violence events, the federal government should fund mental health programs. Due to the outbreak of mass shootings in the country, and the violence associated with gun people want stricter laws.In 1787 the constitution was written and gave us the right to bear arms. When it comes to the restrictions pertaining to guns they are all state based. The country as a whole has very minimal restrictions. That doesn t mean that there are no proposed laws. Some of the laws that congress has voted on are as follows Tighten up background checks... Expand background checks...Prevent suspected terrorists from buying guns(Republican version)... Prevent suspected terrorists from buying guns(Democratic Version) (Phillips). The laws proposed are good in theory, but will most likely never get passed because much of Congress seems to never agree.Terrorism is a problem and it is a dangerous issue, but the real issue is mental health. It is a constitutional right to be able to have a weapon and most states have strict laws. There is a debate surrounding the topic of gun laws and it is whether we should have more or less gun control. It was a very popular subject during the 2016 election. The debate is a very republican vs democrat debate because of the views they have.In the 2016 election, the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton states, We can have common sense gun reforms that keep weapons out of the hands of criminals and the violently unstable ( Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted ).What the message behind this is that there needs to be reform to be stricter to help keep guns out of the criminals and mentally unstable hands. ... • 50. Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have can create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was widely acted upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead to, creating The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). • 52. King Lear and A Thousand Acres Comparative Literary Analysis King Lear, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is about the delegation of power from the old generation to the young, new generation. Furthermore, the play demonstrates problems that can arise from a transfer made too early, from one generation to the next. A Thousand Acres is a modern retelling of King Lear, that is similar to King Lear, but it is not an exact word for word copy. The overall plot has been retained from King Lear, but some of the minor details have been changed to provide an intriguing new take on the same story. One such change is the fact the story goes from a third person view in King Lear, mostly following King Lear, to a first person narrative from the perspective of Ginny in A Thousand Acres. Ginny is the modern day version for Goneril s character. King Lear and A Thousand Acres may take place in two different time periods; they both offer comments on the status of women, familyrelationships, and the natural order of things. The two time periods may be different, one modern day and the other set in the past, however the ideas presented are not that different on a whole. Both works presented share the same common thematic and universal elements throughout. King Lear and A Thousand Acres discuss the role and status of women similarly. In King Lear women were considered lower status than their male counterparts. This is true even of women who would today be considered equal to men, such as a man and a women who went to college and acquired the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although this is a nice option to have, many Soldiers and leaders still choose not to stay any longer than their one year obligation. As I see it the only way to get Soldiers and leaders to stay is to make them stay. To develop a proper way ahead and remain flexible to change as needed throughout the process, Kotter s eight step approach to change would allow for a good strategy rather than plan to allow for the Army to accomplish this mission. The first step on Kotter s approach is to develop a sense of urgency; just like most things in life, if you re not being pushed by someone of something to accomplish a task than you will wait and it may not get done to standard or at all. When you have a narcissistic personality disorder, you may not want to think that anything could be wrong because doing so wouldn t fit with your self image of power and perfection (Mayo Clinic, 20140). Today, narcissismis viewed in a low light, which is why even narcissists wouldn t openly want to admit they are narcissistic. • 57. Analysis Of Fagles s Antigone While Ismene s language relies heavily upon a Northern Irish dialect, differences between Paulin s Ismene and Fagles go further. In Fagles s Antigone, Ismene is a voice of reason in contrast to her rash and hot headed sister. She advocates prudence as sensible . Paulin s work offers an Ismene translated not only linguistically but also in personality. As this Ismene warns Antigone, she thinks only of the punishment. Her concern is not that the two would defy the state but that they would die and in a most unpleasant manner. Her speech emphasizes the concern for them rather than the state as she stresses how we ll die and repeatedly speaks of what will happen to us . These lines clearly mark a point at which Paulin chose fidelity to Ismene s Irishness over fidelity to Sophocles s politics. However, these lines also raise questions about the nature of Irishness. Is Ismene s rational response, in the original, inherently un Irish and untranslatable into an Irish context? And, if so, is Paulin suggesting here that the Irish are the overly emotional and hot blooded people that stereotypes have made them out to be? More than a simple substitution of standard English for Irish English, Paulin s translationraises such questions throughout. As he translates, Paulin displaces Irishness, removing it from a familiar context defined by Irish/English dichotomies, character stereotypes, and the trite settings and practices expected of conventional Irish plays. ...
