Borderline Personality Disorder Research
Family and partner of a consumer with borderline personality disorder play an important role in
supporting with recovery. Health practitioners should acknowledge and respect their support. With
the consent of the consumer, health care professionals should include families and partner when
developing a plan. However some consumers may choose not to involve their family or partner

It s overwarming and frightening for the family or partner to offer help specially if they had
distressing experience. However by educating the family and partner on how they can cope with the
consumer symptoms they would have a better relationship. Its vital the family and partner
understand that BPD is a mental illness that is result from interaction between genetic, biological
and environment vulnerabilities rather that a behavior that the consumer has developed as a result
of their own action. Families and partners need to be willing to try to understand the experience of
the consumer with a non judgmental attitude. When consumers experience uncontrolled emotions
they usually direct their anger towards those closest such as family and partners. Family and

Ethanol Pros And Cons
Fuel prices seem to be the subject that always makes headlines on a regular basis since the United
States is the biggest consumer of fossil fuel in the world. The Central Intelligence Agency reported
that in 2015 alone, the United States consumed over 19 million barrels of refined petroleum
products per day. The data suggests that Americans consumed almost 5 million barrels more than
China and India, the two most populous countries on earth. (Central Intelligence Agency, n.d.) High
energy consumption forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources since domestic fuel supplies
are simply not enough to satisfy the thirst. Due to this very reason, the U.S. is often subject to
unpredictable fuel prices and fuel shortage scare. It also has to cope with the rise in emission that
contributes directly to climate change, another hot topic of the 21st century. Enter ethanol, an
alcohol addition to gasoline that promises to reduce fuel prices, stretch fuel supplies, and solve the
global warmingdilemma. Ethanol, however, has not lived up to its reputation. In fact, it has fallen
short on many occasions and become a subject of controversy.

invested in corn based ethanol for more than 30 years. During this period, it has provided corn

energy independence (Pear, 2012). The incentives are undeniably attractive that many farmers have
converted their crops to grow corn to supply ethanol plants for the lucrative profits on every
taxpayer s nickel and dime. Farm subsidies shield taxpayers from seeing the true cost of ethanol,

The Globalization Of Baudrillard Implosion
Introduction
There have been notable advancements in technology and media which shaped our twenty first
century. The global spread of technology creates extensive connections on a large scale which have
helped in making new opportunities.Social media is a landmark of the modern technological
advancement. It helped in spreading knowledge, culture, personal experiences, different views
between people from different countries.Social Media has been used in all aspects of life such as
the economy, health, politics and social sciences. Advocating for human rights, appeal to help
people in need, sharing knowledge are good examples of the wise use of technology and social
media. On the other side, human trafficking, terrorism, money laundering and pornography are
some examples when some people abuse social media. With the heated political tension, social
media have dominated in many occasions. This assignment discusses Baudrillard postmodern
philosophy and his theories regarding globalization and this era which controlled by technology.
Also, it goes through hacking and how Baudrillard implosion reflects it.

Heinz was taken private in 2013 by the PE firms Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital in 2013.
The objective was to identify and merge another big brand with Heinz so as to create a future
market leader. The firms had already identified Kraft as the ideal target as they believed that the
portfolio of the two brands were highly complementary.
Another reason was the more perceptible shift in consumer preferences away from processed foods

Reflection Paper On Babies
BIOL2299 Making Better Babies Reflection Paper
Tram Anh Ngoc Nguyen. NU ID: 001884300
The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its
scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different
perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease
sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new
concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me.
First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford
English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected
in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As
discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be
hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents
preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome
leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement.
This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian
s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and
damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable
in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues
diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental
changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the
survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal
babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic
mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also
accompanied by negative social pressure.
Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of
genetic testing. If I was an

Corruption Of Power And Polipulation In Animal Farm, By...
Could you imagine a world where animals could read, write, work, and be able to take care of
themselves without the use of humans. The book Animal Farm by George Orwell explains this
whole new world where animals rule. There s bloodshed, leadership roles, corruption of power,
and manipulation among the animals. Orwell bases these events on the Russian revolution and
the Stalinist era. Napoleon being in relation to Stalin takes complete control over the animal farm
and his morals become corrupt. Squealer one of the many pigs who chose to follow Napoleon s
ruling, he serves as Napoleon s control over the animals by spreading his propaganda throughout
animal farm. Through the propaganda and impressive rhetorical skills of squealer, reality is
shaped by words of manipulation, for better or for worse.
Furthermore to the Russian revolution and Stalinists era, Stalin was the leader of the Soviet
Union who would do absolutely anything as far as murder just to stay in control. Stalin had exiled
Trotsky because he always disagreed with him. Similarly Napoleon murdered anyone that had
leagued themselves with Snowball, who he had exiled. On to Vyacheslav Molotov who was a
protege of Stalin, ordered death warrants during the Great Purge, and basically did almost anything
Stalin told him to. Also the Newspaper, Pravda was used by Stalin to get the Russian citizens to
join his political point of view. In the same way, Squealer tries to convince the animals that Life
under Napoleon was better than any other scenario.
Therefore Squealer has the main role of eliminating all oppositions towards Napoleon. For
example, there was a new order in which all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the
pigs. When Squealer explains that the pigs need the milk and apples for their health and that they
are the brains of the farm and without them Jones would come back. During his speech, Squealer
skips back and forth while saying Surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come
back? This means the explanation is parallel because he doesn t directly say for certain the truth in
the matter, he skips over specific words. Another example is when Squealer convinces the animals
that Boxer was sent to a hospital when

Leningrad Cemetery Winter Of 1941 Analysis
Sharon Olds, in her poem Leningrad Cemetery, Winter of 1941 , portrays the dreary and dire
effects of war. As one of the most destructive and longest sieges of history had just begun, the
countless bodies scarred the citizens of Leningrad. In order to convey horror, hopelessness, and
death, Olds utilizes simile extensively, corrupting images with typically hopeful connotation. As
corpses permeate the graveyard, the ability sustain life itself comes into question; Olds warps the
significance of the tree to argue that life is no longer sustainable. Due to the lack of enough
wood for coffins, the disposal of corpses exemplify desperation and require inhumane treatment.
The sheer number of corpses necessitates that many are Bound with rope like the tree s ball of

Saudi Arabia Women
The Suppression of Women in Saudi Arabia In the United States, men and women have the same
rights and laws. Unfortunately, half way around the world,it is a different story in the desert
country of Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, men and women are treated completely different and
have different laws according to their gender. The numerous, oppressive laws for women in Saudi
Arabiaand lack of basic human rightsare causing a call for change because women want to be
treated with respect, not worse than a doormat.
Women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive cars because of religious reasons although nowhere
in the Quran is this matter addressed. The Saudi Arabian Parliament claims letting women drive

In some areas, the code is stricter than others. Women must always wear an abayas. An abayas is
an all black, loose fitting robe that covers the entire body from wrist to ankle. No skin is
showing, not even the neck. They also have to have a hood covering all their hair. When they go
out in public, their face needs to be covered, except for the eyes. In some places, they must have
their eyes covered by a see through black covering as well. Sometimes, black silk gloves must be
worn too. They are allowed to wear whatever shoes they want, even though sandals are the most
common. The key to understanding Saudi customs is the country s history. When the modern
nation was founded in 1932, it was based on an 18th century pact between the ruling Al Saud
monarchy and a devout bunch of clerics who followed a fiery version of Islam (Ritadh 1) At the
airport, the rules are a little fuzzy. Women don t often feel comfortable wearing their abayas, hood
and veil on airplanes after recent terrorism and discrimination issues. Once they leave the airport,
they must be fully covered.

The Cersei Lannister Of Privacy Invasion
The Cersei Lannister of Privacy Invasion: An Over Controlling and Oppressive Watchful
Government Presence Online In the television show Game of Thrones, there exists a world
called Westeros and in this world, there lives a woman by the name of Cersei Lannister. At the
end of the most recent season she became queen of the seven kingdoms amidst much controversy.
She rules Westeros with power, control, and an authoritarian air that commands fear from her
subjects. Cersei Lannister is the epitome of a bully government and will stop at nothing to get
exactly what she wants, even if it means assassinating thousands of innocent people and causing
the death of at least two of her children. This sort of bully behavior may be entertaining on the
television screen but what happens when art imitates life and the entities that oversee governing
our nation turn into the Cersei Lannister s of the world? Government agencies such as the CIA,
FBI, and the NSA are turning into organizations that actively spy on American citizens and they
use the same sort of scare tactics that Cersei Lannister uses when a certain northern family tries to

Symbolism In Alice In Wonderland
Walt Disney s first attempted to produce Alice in Wonderland in the 1930 s. Like Alice, he had a

Alice in Wonderland was the 13th animation that Disney ever produced. Thirteen is thought of as
an unlucky number, a symbol of rebellion and lawlessness which suits the context of this novel
perfectly, especially considering its initial unpopularity. Why we dream is one of the biggest
unanswered questions of modern science. What we do know is that it is based on the

In this instance, Alice is reflecting on the never ending nature of her sister s monotonous reading

In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective
of various linguistic techniques. More specifically, I shall propose and focus on the idea that the
composition of the speech has an aim to create a unity of the speaker and the audience in order to

performance that aims the delivery of the message. I will focus on the structural and functional
properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the
performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech
was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an
idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun).
Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are
for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for
analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural
and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In
subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a
presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the
electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience
s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while

Mike Rother and John Shook were asked to use their knowledge of Toyota practices to create a
simple tool for managers to enable them to see the flow of value. They came up with Value Stream
Mapping. This lean tool can help companies optimize their production in such a way that it results
in drastic reduction in cost and throughput time and also improved quality.
Value Stream Mapping (VSM) allows user to create a concrete plan to make most efficient use
of the available resources. VSM is one of the most powerful lean tool for an organization in
implementing and improving on its lean journey. VSM shows the all the process from order entry

A music genre is a category of pieces of music that share a certain style or basic musical language
(van der Merwe 1989, p.3). The two articles that I will be comparing are Genres, Subgenres, Sub
Subgenres and More by Kembrew McLeod (2001) and On the Value of Popular Music by S. Firth

The unconditional love depicted in the relationships of The Color Purple by Alice Walker is

Inigo Jones And The Queens House
Throughout this essay I will explore to what extent Inigo Jones s design for the Queens House
was inspired by the works of Palladio and Palladian architecture and 15 16th century European
architectural precedents, while also exploring the role the building played on the development of
Neoclassical architecture on a wider scale. The Queens House represents the stylistic point of
origin for the great imposing buildings surrounding Greenwich but also for Neo Classical
architecture in Britain more generally. The formative years of the designer, Inigo Jones (1573

Palladian architecture is based on the symmetry and perspective of classical architecture,

Mental Disorders And Personality Disorder
Emily Dickinson famously said that the brain was wider than the sky, and she wasn t far off. The
brain, specifically the mind, is the structure of all things personality and there are no set boundaries
that it falls in. But what happens when there s a glitch, causing people to not understand human
ethics? There are certain mental disorders that can be linked to serial criminality, such as antisocal
personality disorderand borderline personality which are exhibited in notorious killers Ted Bundy
and Jeffrey Dahmer.
Ted Bundy is perhaps a household name. His crimes were so horrendous and large that people
more or less recognize him, even if they do not know the reason. From the outside, Bundy grew
up in a loving middle class family. However, Born on November 24, 1946, Theodore Ted Bundy
started life as his family s embarrassing secret. His mother was just twenty two years old when she
had him, young and unwed, which disgusted her extremely religious parents. The grandparents
quickly took him in and made him believe is mother was his sister, hiding the truth from him at all
costs. This was just the first of many problems he had through his life.
His fascination with knives started at just the age of three, foreshadowing the crimes would come
later. As a teen, he had trouble connecting with peers, thought nothing of stealing, and often looked
into other s windows without second thought. He was a smart boy and did very well in school but
there was an undeniable difference

Industrial Workers During The Gilded Age
Similar to the farmers during the Gilded Age, industrial workers combatted poor working
conditions, child labor, low wages, and long hours by forming labor unions and organizing
strikes, ending as a massive failure. Early in the industrial era, there was no minimum wage,
leaving it up to the factory owners to set the rate at which their workers were to be paid. Some
owners did not pay their employees in cash but in company scrip which could be redeemed at the
company store. For example, in Pullman, Illinois and in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the towns were
owned by corporations, the Pullman Palace Car Company and the Hershey Company respectively,
so their workers would receive vouchers to spend at the company store instead of hard cash.... Show

Initially a fraternal organization providing social events, sporting competitions, and education
for working men and their families, the Knights of Labor soon advocated for the creation of
cooperatives where members would serve as worker owners who have input on the running of
factories in hopes of making changes for the better of the working man. The Knights of Labor
believed that the alarming development and aggression of aggregated wealth, which, unless
checked, will inevitably lead to the pauperization and hopeless degradation of the toiling masses
could only be stopped through the unification of labor . The Knights were open to all producers
including skilled and unskilled workers and owners as well as women and African Americans.
Bankers, doctors, liquor manufacturers, lawyers, and stockholders were excluded because of their
supposed lack in productive contribution to society. The union advocated for a national eight hour
workday, the expulsion of Asian workers, the prohibition of immigration from the Far East, and an
end to child labor. The Knights worked to make changes for all workers, regardless of affiliation
with the group, and opposed strikes and boycotts. As the Knights of Labor began to fade away,
another organization arose called the American Federation of

The Working Alliance Between Supervisor And Supervisee
Clinical Supervision is defined as a distinct professional activity in which education and training
aimed at developing science informed practice are facilitated through a collaborative interpersonal
process (Falender Shafranske, 2004). According to Falander and Shafranske (2004), clinical
supervision involves observation, feedback, facilitating self assessment of the supervisee, and
knowledge acquisition through a variety of methods. In supervising developing therapists, more
senior members of the profession monitor the overall quality and development of the professional
services being offered by beginning members of the profession (Knox et. al., 2008). Similar to what
we know about therapy, the working alliance between supervisor and supervisee is an essential
piece of what would be considered a positive supervisory experience.
Bordin (1983) defined the working alliance within clinical supervision as a collaborative process
based on three central aspects: mutual agreement and understanding regarding the goals of
supervision; mutual agreement and understanding regarding the tasks of supervision; and the
emotional bond between supervisor and supervisee. Specifically, an effective supervisory alliance
has been shown to be related to a variety of positive outcomes within supervision, including
enhanced trainee multicultural competence (Ladany, Brittan Powell, Pannu, 1997), increased
trainee self disclosure (Ladany et al., 1997), reduced stress and psychological

Holy Sonnet 14 Analysis
Holy Sonnet 14 presents the struggle between following one s faith and the alluring baseness of the
human experience. This work fixates on the ties the speaker has to Satan, and the inability to break
those ties without God s intervention. A vein of nearly mad desperation courses through the poem
from submissive start to subjugated end, culminating in a pained, almost violent plea for Godto
ravish him. One can see how the speaker s desolation builds; he longs for God to break him down
and repair him, raise him up and make [him] new in the first quatrain, but by the finalcouplet he
embraces imprisonment, razing and ravishing. He believes himself unworthy of deliverance in
such a far fallen state, requiring trial and punishment before he can again live in the lord s light. An
initial hopefulness tempers the anguish of the opening quatrain, and the speaker obviously feels as
if God can still mend his corrupted heart. His restoration to a more holy image requires submission
to the agony of liberation from sin. An erratic syntax littered with trochees, spondees, and anapests
indicates a mercurial, near frenzied quality to his plea. Donne does not employ a single straight
iambic line in the entire poem; BAT ter , a trochee, punctuates the opening line, blunt and rough.
This imperative moodof the first verb establishes the urgency of the first quatrain, and the subtle
continuance of imperative verbs displays the prevailing tone of pleading, anxious desire for
salvation.

Essay Internal Supplies by Kamp Motors
Case Study: Internal Supplies by Kamp Motors
CASE:
Involves two companies namely:
1. Vecu в–Є A French company that produces cars, Lorries, buses and agricultural machinery.
2. Kamp в–Є One of Vecu s subsidiaries в–Є An International leader in the field of engine
production в–Є Develops racing car engines for many years
Kamp produces four main types of car engines

In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is
€3450 per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable
cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the
Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as
capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if
Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be
€4750.
The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it
should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a
reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division.
Problem No. 2
Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp s profit by using the formula for basic cost per
unit and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can
manipulate the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. How,
do you think, can the boards of the Vecu concern and the MB division determine whether Kamp
manipulates data on unit costs?
Answer:
Kamp usually supply 4 types of engines, type 2, 3

Concussions In Athletes Research Paper
Spotting any of the symptoms above, is one of the quickest and effective ways for a concussion
to be diagnosed by a person trained to spot these symptoms. Although many of these symptoms,
don t appear or will not be present in an athlete that has sustained a concussion. New ways for
diagnosing concussions, have been developed to better identify the injury, making it easier to
diagnose and treat an athlete who has sustained a hit to the head or neck area. Many concussions,
never have an athlete completely losing consciousness, many athletes experience a momentary
state of confusion or disorientation after being hit in the head.( Bell Ringers are concussions ,

even more dangerous and hazardous to an athlete, because they don t lose consciousness many
trainers, and coaches think that they are still able to play. This, however is not true, if an athlete
were to sustain another concussion, then their chances of getting a more severe injury is

Crime In 16th Century England
Sixteenth century England was a time of laws and religion. Both relied heavily on each other. As
the churches grew and Queen Elizabeth came into power, laws were often made to specifically
protect the church. Crimes such as blasphemy and treason could be punishable by death or
torture. Treason is the crime of trying to betray a country, usually by trying to overthrow the
current state of the government or other systems, such as the power of the church. This is a crime
that no one was exempt from. Many priests and even Queen Elizabeth had been sent to the Tower
of London. Elizabeth I was pardoned, others however could be tortured for months or be ordered
to be executed. Blasphemy is the act of talking sacrilegiously about the beliefs of the... Show more

The lower class citizens of England resorted to stealing for what they needed to survive, and if
they were caught the punishment was rarely enjoyable. Usually a person caught stealing would
have a hand cut off. The Band of Thieves was a large group of men and women taking from
whoever they could, members that were caught were often tortured and publicly humiliated.
Beggars were considered the rats of people. They dressed in the most ragged clothes and begged a
passerby for money. If caught he or she would be beaten and driven out of the city, usually ordered
to never return.
There were even laws against cutting down certain trees; the crime was punishable by death.
Trees such as the Ash Tree, Dogwood, and others with a religious background or significant use,
the crime would be considered as a form of blasphemy in some cases.
The courts and trials were usually public spectacles. Judgment was typically in favor of the

tried. Usually there was a judge, jury, and a number of citizens watching the events unroll. There
were three main kinds of court cases; Criminal, Religious, and the Star

Disappointment And Disillusionment In A Relationship
It can be distressing when a relationship begins to change. And if one partner begins to re establish
their independence the other may react negatively by becoming overly demanding. It is said that
partners who manage this phase well have a much better chance at developing the skills they
require in order to deal with the challenges of the coming years. And to be honest, that is what
relationships are all about, pushing through minor differences and hard times. Disappointment and

assumption about their partner s commitment towards the relationship. When these opinions and
expectations about your partner differ now and then in real life, it can either leave you thrilled
or depressed. This means that, some might consider these differences as interesting twists to
their relationship while others may see them as potential deal breakers to having their
relationship go forward. For example, if you are a girl, you don t expect your man to buy you
flowers, but he does. You feel ecstatic. At the same time, you assumed that he will pick you up
from the airport on time. But he reaches an hour later because he forgot all about picking you
up. This might upset you. Or maybe, if you are a guy, you would feel thrilled if your girl made
you a surprise dinner one night. But you would feel equally disappointed if they forgot to pick up
some groceries that you might have asked the day before. Small Talks and Testing Topics After
people have already established opinions of each other, one might expect that that is the end of it.
But that s not true. It is in the human nature to keep giving people chances until there are no

Cultural Assimilation In The United States
As the beginning the definition of Cultural Assimilation is when a community or a community are
integrated into a majority group (dominant) and have the opportunity to acquire the same
characteristics or habits. So, the community that integrates most end up losing or relegating its
specificity.
Other cultural assimilation is colonization, historically many of the world s cases occurred in
several nations of Europe in other continents. In modern times England, which has a high degree
the genius of colonization, and that work has done wonders in America, Asia and Oceania, unable

society and retain their own demonstrations in a very intimate level.Others demonstrate freedom to
take their host culture and forget their origins frequently and even manage to disown them. With
much logic I believe that children are much more open to cultural assimilation than others. If we
talk about loss of culture and values we approach immigrant assimilation, but if their own traits
persist and are at the break. The problem is that the theory does not leave between seeing the
possibility of maintaining loss and gain at the same time. The choices always move between the

Natural Transcendence In Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Natural transcendence is a call that not all people feel, however for those who do hear it, it is
nearly impossible to ignore. The great outdoors represent so much to so many and is a gift that
so many reap the benefits of. Some people like the danger and power of nature, while others like
the placid serenity that allows them to be fully at peace. The novel Into The Wildby Jon Krakauer is
all about transcendence through natureand the lessons learned through that type of eternal peace.
The novel is about a young man, Chris McCandless, who after completing his education and
seemed to be set up for future success, decided to leave everything behind and travel into the
Alaskan wildernessin search for more meaning and connection to nature. On his journey to the wild
he encountered many different people that taught him many lessons about other perspectives and
lenses for which to view life, however these new connections he made were not enlightening
enough and he still chose to venture into the Alaskan wilderness. Mccandless traveled into the
wilderness and left his life behind because he did not feel as though the traditional world was a
close enough connection to total transcendence and inner peace. Reading Into The Wild brought
me an appreciation for the knowledge and developing experiences gained by separating oneself
from society to experience and appreciate nature. Exposing myself to nature to find peace is

Bernard Madoff Financial Scandal Controversy
Bernard Madoff Financial Scandal
I would first like to begin this paper by saying why I decide to chose this topic out of the 3
choices. I believe that all of the choices were credible and a viable topic in their own regards, but
the reason this one hit home for me was because of the simplicity of the scandal. It s hard to
believe that someone could have made off with the amount of money Bernard did when the idea
of a Ponzi scheme was notable as early as the 19th century, and was named after Charles Ponzi in
1920 after his scandal created enough issues to make it more aware to the public of what was
happening. The fact that this happened almost 100 years later at the level that it did and where it
happened made me extremely concerned and interested in the topic. In this paper I will cover the
details happening up to the scandal, the scandal itself, the people involved in the scandal, the
legislation and regulations implemented after the scandal, and my views on the outcome of the
scandal.

The Role Of Violence In The Phantom Of The Opera
The Acts Of Love.
When asked what love is, what would you say? Well the simple answer to this is complete
silence. It is a feeling that only one in love can answer to themselves, without words. A prime
example of this would be the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, throughout the book Erick
commits many acts of violence such as threatening the Prima Donna , cutting the wires so the
chandelier may fall upon the new care taker of box 5, writing threats to the managers, and fighting
Raol. One may question if his acts of violence are committed solely for Christine, the women he

Furthermore, Dr. John L Flynn may believe the Phantom acts may have been to protect his
world and for his true love and to protect his world. However, many scholars may belive that he
committed such acts for his own personal gain due to the fact that he was obsessed with
Christine not in love with her because she was the first person to show him compassion, love,
and friendship. Shown through various chapters ,Christine matures into a young beautiful
sexual female, Erick begins to desire her and fantasize over her ;filling his underground lair with
sketches of her, different scenes of her signing in the opera house, and a wax figure of her in a
wedding dress. Therefore, these different scences throughout the book may support the claim
that Erick does not really love Christine but is obsessed with her out of the fear of being lonely
and isolated from the world one more. Can Erick having never having been love or been in love
can really reciprocate such feelings? However, such claims are rebutted by his acts in the final
chapters letting Christen go and giving her the gift of freedom. Making the saying if you love
someone , you let them go. In conclusion, Erick does love Christine and his acts are due to his love
for Christine and we learn that the phantom does have a human heart that

The Truth About Autism And Effects On Children
The Truth about Autism and Effects on Children 2
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder that affects the brain. Many children
are affected by Autism. It limits a child s ability to connect, socialize and relate to others. Autism
is a growing disorder and every year more children are born with autism. There is no cure for
autism; there are no known facts about what causes autism in children at an early age, just possible
causes. ASD is reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups (CDC, 2016, p.1).
Autism is a real threat, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) calls it a public

frogs for Doc. Mac is thinking about the idea of giving a gift to Doc and says But s pose we give
him something except whiskey, maybe cufflinks with his initials [to which Hazel responds] Oh,
horseshit...Doc don t want stuff like that (74). This kind of language is typical of Mack and his
friends throughout the book. They use s pose instead of suppose, except instead of other than or
besides, vulgar expressions instead of tame ones, and don t instead of doesn t. This helps to
illustrate the complex nature of humans and their relationships. While Doc generally speaks
proper English, the bums have a rough manner of speaking. Additionally, Lee Chong s voice has
a significant lack of a certain letter. According to the narrator, He spoke a stately English without
ever using the letter r (5 6). One example of this is when Mack comes to make a deal with him on
the Palace Flophouse and Grill, Lee says You like pay lent my place? (10). By using such
characterization for each of his individual character, Steinbeck captures human complexities and
thus captures life s complexities. The microscopic differences in the way each character speaks

Pros And Cons Of Net Neucy
Net neutrality is the basis in which all internet providers must treat data on the Internet equally and
not charge differently based on what device , website, application you use, or content you decide to
view. The recent vote in the U.S. to repeal net neutrality s guidelines is unjust because it violates 1st
amendment guidelines, gives the people less freedom, and gives Internetservice providers many
ways to meddle with data speeds and how their users use the Internet.
A repeal on net neutrality would affect people and schools with tighter budgets, leaving them
little options to access the web. The repeal would allow ...various carriers will alter their pricing
and what you get for that money , meaning that there will most likely be, bundling (e.g. social
media package, streaming video package, gaming package) as additions to basic services
(Grenoble). Additional fees for applications such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and et
cetera, will mean that depending on what Internet provider people decide to use, they will have to
pay more to use these applications and websites. People who can t afford to pay extra for these
bundles will be limited to the content they can use and access and won t have the same freedom
that people who can afford the bundles will have. In addition, not only individuals will get affected
by the repeal but also communities, especially schools. Based on there the tight budget, a school in
Chattanooga who can t buy the students scanning electron microscopes for experiments so they,

experiments from Chattanooga, where they would not have access otherwise (Culatta 1). The only
way these students have access to the this website is, ...because they have access to high speed
Internet connections (Culatta 1). Without access to high speed Internet, many schools with tighter
budgets will not access certain resources online that help teachers with their lesson plans because
Internet will be more expensive, therefore being less accessible. Consequently, affecting the

Evaluation Of The Current Liquidity Management Essay
Executive Summary
This report provides analysis of the current liquidity management in banks. Methods of evaluation
include peer, trend and horizontal analysis such as ratios, principle and regulations. In the first part,
we analyze the differences between liability liquidity management and asset liquidity management
and explore the features an effective liquidity management system should possess. Then we
compare liquidity ratios of four banks in Australia to examine their performance on liquidity
management according to line charts. Finally, Liquidity Coverage Ratio and Net Stable Funding
ratio are introduced, how they improve mutually.
Management of liquidity risk
The financial institutions have obligations to fulfill depositors requirement of withdrawing
deposits. In addition, they need sufficient funds to invest projects and issue loans to make profit,
which maintains a normal operation. Trade off exists between liquidity risk and profit. The ideal
position is to earn high profit while minimum risks. As a result, liquidity management is important
for the financial institutions to avoid risks of default.
Cash is the core in the operation of banks. However, the retained earnings and capital can be
difficult to meet day to day expenses and the demand of cash from depositors. If the banks cannot
raise additional funds or convert asset into cash immediately to meet their obligations, it can lead
to losses or default. (Topaloglou, 2015) This probability of loss is called

Career Goals Of Becoming A Software Developer
Throughout your lifetime you will eventually have to decide on what career you want to begin
your journey on. In the United States and around the world, many individuals will choose their
career path very early in their lifetimes in order to attain the job position that they desire. With this
being said, one must carefully plan and modify their lives to prepare for what the future withholds.
For instance, in order for me to achieve my long time goals of becoming a software developerand/or
a computer system analyst, then I would need to continue patiently walk along the bumpy path on
my laborious, lengthy journey. Lastly, the following careers that I ve set my eyes on will embark
us onto a prolonged life excursion.
One of the most important factors of when choosing a career is the work environment. Most
people don t tend to focus on this because they assume that this isn t as important as the pay or
job title, yet the work s industry environment that you re entering is just as important as those
other factors. For this reason, I have chosen a career, computer system analyst, in which the U.S.
News and World Report has characterized the three top categories in job satisfaction: upward
mobility, stress level, and flexibility as average. First of all, this means that my opportunity level
to increase the chance of becoming promoted and/or yearly salary will be at the United States
average level. In addition, the work environment and complexities of the job s responsibilities in

Ducati Group s Strategic Plan
Before to Ducati s acquisition by Texas Pacific Group, a deep financial crisis affected Ducati,
undermining its production and consequently negatively affecting its market results. Production
was less than production capacity and therefore it was clear that a relaunch of the company was
necessary. The strategic plan carried out by Ducati Group, with the help of newly appointed Minoli,
focused on the idea of increasing the company s value through a growth in turnover volume and
protection of product profit margins. One of the most interesting aspects of the changes embraced
by the Ducati, is the restructuring of the production system which began in the mid 1990s in order
to maintain the product margin and increase the level of sales and turnover.
Minoli found three things at Ducati when he arrived:
good products: unique and beautiful bikes, although regarded as less efficient and reliable in
comparison to Japanese models
top notch engineers: both in R D and for the racing division
a brand with a strong potential: in most European markets, Ducati s brand recognition and loyalty
was the highest in the motorcycle industry.
First, the aspiring team started off the transformation of Ducati s strategic plan by creating what
was called the World of Ducati , to support and develop the brand. This started with the decision to
build a museum, in order to show that Ducati was more than a motorcycle company; Ducati was a
dream and a passion. Through this Ducati was able to

An Analysis Of Susanna Wheatley s Poetry
Both female poets choose to use the first person, implying that the I connotates a personal
sentiment for the author and reader. In Wheatley s case, it is made clear to the reader through a
footnote that the poem is in fact about her as it states, [it] commemorates Wheatley s transatlantic
voyage to London (Wheatley 1020). In this poem, the reader is given a direct image of departure.
Wheatley travels from Boston to London in order to publish her poems as well as maintain her
health. Moreover, to further point out Wheatley is the intended I , the poem is dedicated to her
mistress Susanna Wheatley who is mentioned in the poem. Her poem uses the first person to not
only show she is the subject of the poem, but to narrate her feelings on her travel experience....

In consideration of the historical context, it can be interpreted that this I is in fact Prince Albert
talking to both Great Britain and his wife, Queen Victoria. Unlike Wheatley s poem which focuses
on travel, Remember possesses a language of longing by writing intimate moments such as
[holding] me by the hand (Rossetti 554, 3). To further prove that this poem contains romantic
undertones, it should be noted that Remember is a Petrarchan sonnet, containing fourteen lines
and a volta, known for focusing on courtship or love. The feeling of longing produced in her
poem suggests Rossetti uses Albert s voice to reach out to the Queen to help her cope with her
loss. Rather than using the first person to be the subject of the poem, Rossetti chooses the style to
further apply a personal connection with her readers (and most importantly Queen Victoria). The
use of first person for both poets, though differently used, identifies with the core belief of an I
aiming to connect with the readers on a personal level to transmit their

War Between Europeans And Indians
Suspicion and hostility, branching from technological and cultural differences, as well as, mutual
feelings of being superior, have infused relations between Native Americans and non Natives in
North America. Intertribal conflicts among the Indians, and nationalistic rivalries, lacking faith, and
expansion desires on the part of non natives worsened these tensions. The resulting white and
native conflicts often took a particularly bad turn and resulted in the near destruction of the native
people(Native American). War between Europeans and Indians was common back in the 1600s. In
1622, the Powhatans nearly wiped out the already struggling Jamestown colony. Frustrated at the
continuing conflicts, Nathaniel Bacon and a group of whites destroyed the Pamunkey Indians
before leading an unsuccessful revolt against colonial authorities in 1676. Continuous wars also
plagued early Dutch colonies in New York. In New England, Puritan forces wiped out the Pequots
in 1636, a campaign s intensity that seemed to shape the future. Following attacks inspired by
King Philip against English settlements sparked a concerted response from the New England
Confederation. Employing Indian partnerships and a scorched earth policy, the colonists nearly
wiped out the Narragansetts, Wampanoag, and Nipmuck tribes in 1675 and1676. A major Pueblo
revolt also threatened New Mexico in 1680 (European). Indians were also a key factor in the
rivalries among France, Spain, and England. In King William s, Queen

Home Depot Present Value Essay
To calculate the present value for Home Depot we must evaluate and understand their 10 k
statement. We were given an interest rate of 8% and to evaluate the capital leases from 2015
2019 and then calculate the present value (please see excel spreadsheet for more detail). It was
determined that the total present value throughout 2015 2019 is equal to $425.78 (in millions).
This is an important figure and should be closely monitored and reviewed for future decisions,
as it could greatly affect the company s ability to make future payments. If the risk of the
company changes the obviously the present value will change as well. For example, if the
interest rate were to change from 8% to 5% the total present value would increase to $460.69 (in
millions). If we were to use the example above with a 5% interest rate, and a present value of...

Net present value and the risk have a strong relation with each other. With inappropriate
assessment of risk, one cannot arrive at a correct or near correct net present value. Net present
value of any asset or investment is the present worth of that asset or investment based on
analysis of future returns using appropriate discounting rate. A risk is an uncertainly attached to
the future cash flows (efinancemanagement.com). A lower risk means an increase in the company
s present value and future values. In the examples provided so far if the interest rate were to stay
at 8% the future value of the company would be $488.62 (in millions) compared to a 5% interest
rate and a future value of $587.97 (in millions). That is a difference of $99.35 (in millions) for
potential profit when the company is sold. In present value terms when the rate is 8% the present
value is $425.78 (in millions). compared to 5% and $460.69 (in millions). This proving that
lowering the risk lowers the interest rate which then increases the present value of the company as
well as the future value of the

Batman Monologue
See I m not a monster...I m just ahead of the curve . After giving Batman a monologue about how
Gotham City will eventually betray him, the psychotic Joker tells him how he knows this will
happen. This one quote, from my favorite movie (The Dark Knight), has changed my outlook on
life and its shape as a whole. Normally, it wouldn t be the best idea to gain inspiration from perhaps
the most notorious fictional villain in history, but this quote, in particular, has a much deeper
meaning than shallow self validation.
To fully understand the quote, the context must first be understood. The Jokers elaborate plan to
cause chaos in Gotham City involves getting caught by police, interrogated by Batman, and then
subsequently blowing up the station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took 7 weighted classes, something that had never been done before in our school s history,
believing that I could easily handle it. The first week of the semester proved that I could not
handle it. I was getting no sleep, failing my first tests, and my AP Literature teacher even asked
me if she should talk to my counselor about reducing my courseload. Of course, I declined. The
same stress (albeit a lot less) was there for everyone. Junior year of high school is a killer, from
much harder classes to SAT prep and an increased number of AP tests academically to prom and
sports socially. The vast majority of students at my high school dealt with this stress one way:
drugs. My friends were no exception. I did not succumb, my parents instilled better values in me.
So instead, I put my head down and worked, using other stress relievers to ensure that I didn t kill
myself. I partied (sober), hung out with my girlfriend, watched sports, and chilled with my
friends whenever they weren t on drugs. I tried convincing them out of drugs, but they didn t
listen. That s when I realized the second truth that everyone believed what they were doing was
right, just like the Joker did. The Joker believed he was ridding Gotham City of its filth
(politicians and police), and my friends believed they were doing what they needed to do to stay
alive, after all, they needed to cope with pressure from their parents and peers academically,
pressure socially, and pressure athletically. I did not agree, but I understood that they needed drugs,
otherwise they would get withdrawals and fail school (this happened one week and it was really

The Holocaust And The Holocaust
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum states, The denial or distortion of history is an
assault on the truth and understanding. Holocaust denial is the act of denying the genocide of Jews
and other groups in the Holocaust during World War II. Common denial and distortions includes
that the death of 6 million Jewish people never transpired, that the deaths was an enormous
exaggeration, that the diary of Anne Frank is a forgery, and that the results of deaths in the
concentration camps were due to starvation or diseases. Often the denials is about Nazi Germanys
aim to deporting Jews from the Reich; however, not including the extermination of Jews. Their
claims includes the nonuse of extermination camps and gas chambers to mass murder Jews, or in
fact, ceased to ever exist. By denying the truth about the Holocaust, it adds insult to those who
suffered involuntarily by taking away their life robbing Jewish people and victims alike of their
past and their future. Remembrance and truths about the past affects how the society grows and
change because we become more understanding. When deniers intentionally deny or distort the
truths, it takes the very fact about the victim s life away, and ultimately we do not learn. Despite the
murder of millions of Jews and other victims impending evidences on the Holocaust, former Nazis
spread lies that it never occurred. From the start, the Holocaust was a secret only within Nazi
Germany. The Germans mostly communicated

Depressants Their Effects
Depressants and Their Effects In today s world people are becoming more and more dependant on
drugs, in particular, depressants. By definition, a depressant is a chemical agent that diminishes the
function or activity of a specific part of the body. There are many different types of depressants
ranging from sleeping medications to laughing gas, and of course the most common, alcohol. Like
all medications, there are the legal and illegal types. Heroin, marijuana, and GHB which is
commonly used as a date rape drug, are among the illegal depressants. Ambien and Benadryl are
legal depressants when prescribed by a doctor. They are usually prescribed to relieve symptoms of
anxiety and insomnia. The effects of taking depressants can slow... Show more content on

There are several types of illegal depressants that can be found around the world. One of the most
common illegal depressant is cannabis, also known as marijuana, weed, pot, hash, etc. Cannabis
can cause a hallucinogenic effect if consumed in large quantities. Opium and drugs derived from it
fall into the same category as cannabis but is more addictive which may cause more health
problems. Long term use of these substances can lead to problems and complications associated
with memory, concentration, and motivation. Heroin, also known as smack, skag, or hammer, is
also an illegal depressant. This drug is among other strong pain killer drugs, such as morphine,
called analgesics. The long term use of these drugs can lead to heart and lung problems. Other
problems include tetanus and damaged veins from injections. The unknown purity of heroin puts
users at risk for overdose. Each time a user shoots up , they may think that they are injecting the
same amount as before, but it may be more potent which can be lethal. Gamma hydroxyl butyrate,
commonly known as GHB, a date rape drug is also an illegal depressant. GHB also has street
names such as liquid x or liquid ecstasy. It is typically a colorless, odorless liquid with a slightly
salty taste. This allows individuals to slip it without notice to another person. Its effects may include
nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, and visual disturbances. It may

The Colossus and Daddy by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath is one of the greatest poets of all time the queen of confessional poetry. Her writing
is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one way. Sylvia Plath herself was
complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own
life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only
though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems,
such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father.
Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot only be
interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through
her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The Colossus, a poem widely believed to
stem from her own experiences with death and depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery
that exposes the pain of living forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large
statue. A colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of
the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was considered one of the tallest
statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem tries to put together a man, whether it be her
father or not, to understand him. She considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of
the world that holds power

Allegory In Animal Farm
In society today, many are familiar with George Orwell s political allegory Animal Farm, with
Disney s story about kindness to others in Beauty and the Beast, or with the children s tale Little
Red Riding Hood warning of the dangers in the outside world. The common thread in these tales is
that the authors use animals to communicate a specific message or story. Christian texts also use
animal imagery to communicate a message as found in the symbols of the Evangelists. Recognized
by Christians throughout the world, the symbols include the figures of a man representing Mathew,
the a lion representing Mark, an ox representing Luke, and an eagle representing John, which
together are known as the tetramorph. It has been widely noted that the many... Show more content

Translated from Greek to mean having four forms, the term tetramorph specifically refers to the
four figures that symbolize the Evangelists that are responsible for writing the New Testament
gospels. According to Ezekial 1:5, 10, the prophet describes his vision of four living creatures
emerging from a bright cloud of fire as follows: As for the likeness of their faces, each had the
face of a man in front; the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an
ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle at the back. Some scholars put forth that
Ezekial was likely influenced by an image of Baal, an idol with four faces, those of a bull, a lion,
a man, and a dragon. The idol was brought to Jerusalem during the eighth century BCE and the
theory is that Ezekial may have re imagined the four faced divinity in his own vision. One could
also argue that given the expansive territory that the Roman Empire covered during Ezekial s
lifetime, apart from the Lascaux cave paintings, it is highly likely that he was familiar with images
of the abovementioned artworks. Regardless of Ezekial s inspiration, Ezekial is credited with the
initial vision of the four headed creature that holy men of the Christian religion interpreted into

Biodiversity In Belize Essay
Biodiversity in Belize The South Caye Marine Reserve region is located along the Belize Barrier
Reef. This reef is the second largest in the world, and the largest in the northern hemisphere. Two
very important ecosystems in the Belize Barrier Reef area are the coral reef, and the mangrove
trees. These ecosystems assist in determining the biodiversity of the area, affecting animals of the
water, land, and sky. Without each other these two ecosystems would diminish, they rely on the
other to thrive. These two ecosystems benefit the environment, and also the economy. Since the
economy tends to be viewed as more important than preservation of nature, the government had to
step in and create laws that will preserve the ecosystem. Mangroves are the centre of a very
intricate ecosystem. As a whole, mangroves are sometimes considered to be the most complex and
productive ecosystem on earth (Frost, Emily). Many individuals consider the mangrovetrees to be
where the sea meets the land, since it benefits animals of all kinds. There are four different species
of mangroves located in Belize, these include: the red mangove (Rhizophora mangle), the black
mangove (Avicennia germinans), the white mangrove (Laguncalaria racemosa), and the
buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus). The red mangrove is usually found along the water on the cayes
and waterways, the black mangroves are found farther from the waters edge, followed by the white
mangrove and buttonwood being found furthest inland.

Pros And Cons Of Contracting At Will

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), was created to
minimize the disruptions for military members, however it create limitations and higher cost for
employers because limits employers ability to adjust to the absent, require employers to maintain
certain benefits during employee absent, and opens up employers to the risk and the cost of
litigation (CBO.gov). Without USERRA employers will not hire military service to avoid the
hazard of fulfilling the position in their absent or incurring in higher cost due to the fulfillment of
benefits while they are absent, however if the duty call is for more than 30 days the employee can
decide to continue with the employer s health program or not, therefore if they choose to continue
the employee has to pay the total premium including the employer s share. A big disadvantage for
an employer is the reemployment, because the employee is not obligated to inform whether he/she

  • 3. Ethanol Pros And Cons Fuel prices seem to be the subject that always makes headlines on a regular basis since the United States is the biggest consumer of fossil fuel in the world. The Central Intelligence Agency reported that in 2015 alone, the United States consumed over 19 million barrels of refined petroleum products per day. The data suggests that Americans consumed almost 5 million barrels more than China and India, the two most populous countries on earth. (Central Intelligence Agency, n.d.) High energy consumption forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources since domestic fuel supplies are simply not enough to satisfy the thirst. Due to this very reason, the U.S. is often subject to unpredictable fuel prices and fuel shortage scare. It also has to cope with the rise in emission that contributes directly to climate change, another hot topic of the 21st century. Enter ethanol, an alcohol addition to gasoline that promises to reduce fuel prices, stretch fuel supplies, and solve the global warmingdilemma. Ethanol, however, has not lived up to its reputation. In fact, it has fallen short on many occasions and become a subject of controversy. On the surface, ethanol is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The true cost of ethanol, however, is a different story. The U.S. Government has been heavily invested in corn based ethanol for more than 30 years. During this period, it has provided corn farmers and ethanol makers more than $20 billion dollars in subsidies to pave ways toward energy independence (Pear, 2012). The incentives are undeniably attractive that many farmers have converted their crops to grow corn to supply ethanol plants for the lucrative profits on every taxpayer s nickel and dime. Farm subsidies shield taxpayers from seeing the true cost of ethanol, without it, the price per gallon would be greatly inflated and become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Acquisition Process Search process Heinz was taken private in 2013 by the PE firms Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital in 2013. The objective was to identify and merge another big brand with Heinz so as to create a future market leader. The firms had already identified Kraft as the ideal target as they believed that the portfolio of the two brands were highly complementary. • 6. Reflection Paper On Babies BIOL2299 Making Better Babies Reflection Paper Tram Anh Ngoc Nguyen. NU ID: 001884300 The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me. First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement. This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also accompanied by negative social pressure. Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of genetic testing. If I was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Corruption Of Power And Polipulation In Animal Farm, By... Could you imagine a world where animals could read, write, work, and be able to take care of themselves without the use of humans. The book Animal Farm by George Orwell explains this whole new world where animals rule. There s bloodshed, leadership roles, corruption of power, and manipulation among the animals. Orwell bases these events on the Russian revolution and the Stalinist era. Napoleon being in relation to Stalin takes complete control over the animal farm and his morals become corrupt. Squealer one of the many pigs who chose to follow Napoleon s ruling, he serves as Napoleon s control over the animals by spreading his propaganda throughout animal farm. Through the propaganda and impressive rhetorical skills of squealer, reality is shaped by words of manipulation, for better or for worse. Furthermore to the Russian revolution and Stalinists era, Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union who would do absolutely anything as far as murder just to stay in control. Stalin had exiled Trotsky because he always disagreed with him. Similarly Napoleon murdered anyone that had leagued themselves with Snowball, who he had exiled. On to Vyacheslav Molotov who was a protege of Stalin, ordered death warrants during the Great Purge, and basically did almost anything Stalin told him to. Also the Newspaper, Pravda was used by Stalin to get the Russian citizens to join his political point of view. In the same way, Squealer tries to convince the animals that Life under Napoleon was better than any other scenario. Therefore Squealer has the main role of eliminating all oppositions towards Napoleon. For example, there was a new order in which all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the pigs. When Squealer explains that the pigs need the milk and apples for their health and that they are the brains of the farm and without them Jones would come back. During his speech, Squealer skips back and forth while saying Surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back? This means the explanation is parallel because he doesn t directly say for certain the truth in the matter, he skips over specific words. Another example is when Squealer convinces the animals that Boxer was sent to a hospital when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

JP Morg 13bn Misconduct Settlement Case: JP Morgan $13bn Misconduct settlement In November 2013, JPMorgan was involved in a law suit scandal with the department of justice and agreed on a $13bn civil settlement for assuming responsibility of toxic mortgage lending practices. The scandal evolved when banks exploited mortgage securitization and packaged Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) and Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS) in an unfair manner, and were sold off to investors around the world who were manipulated to think they were investing in not the best of quality credit risk loan, but really they were investing in subprime loans that were essentially worthless. As one of the most destructive and longest sieges of history had just begun, the countless bodies scarred the citizens of Leningrad. In order to convey horror, hopelessness, and death, Olds utilizes simile extensively, corrupting images with typically hopeful connotation. As corpses permeate the graveyard, the ability sustain life itself comes into question; Olds warps the significance of the tree to argue that life is no longer sustainable. Due to the lack of enough wood for coffins, the disposal of corpses exemplify desperation and require inhumane treatment. The sheer number of corpses necessitates that many are Bound with rope like the tree s ball of roots / When it waits to be planted (7 8). The hopes for the dead are only met with more suffering, for they are With no sign of peace, wanting to come back / ... / Even to the icy winter, and the siege. (16 18). Assuming that their noble deaths in the war keep the souls of the dead away from hell at the very least, Olds foresees only pain in the afterlife. The numerous, oppressive laws for women in Saudi Arabiaand lack of basic human rightsare causing a call for change because women want to be treated with respect, not worse than a doormat. The Cersei Lannister Of Privacy Invasion The Cersei Lannister of Privacy Invasion: An Over Controlling and Oppressive Watchful Government Presence Online In the television show Game of Thrones, there exists a world called Westeros and in this world, there lives a woman by the name of Cersei Lannister. At the end of the most recent season she became queen of the seven kingdoms amidst much controversy. She rules Westeros with power, control, and an authoritarian air that commands fear from her subjects. Cersei Lannister is the epitome of a bully government and will stop at nothing to get exactly what she wants, even if it means assassinating thousands of innocent people and causing the death of at least two of her children. This sort of bully behavior may be entertaining on the television screen but what happens when art imitates life and the entities that oversee governing our nation turn into the Cersei Lannister s of the world? Government agencies such as the CIA, FBI, and the NSA are turning into organizations that actively spy on American citizens and they use the same sort of scare tactics that Cersei Lannister uses when a certain northern family tries to get in her way. Both dreams knew no bounds and discovered that the only thing certain is uncertainty. Alice in Wonderland was the 13th animation that Disney ever produced. Thirteen is thought of as an unlucky number, a symbol of rebellion and lawlessness which suits the context of this novel perfectly, especially considering its initial unpopularity. Why we dream is one of the biggest unanswered questions of modern science. What we do know is that it is based on the subconscious. Alice plunges into a world of mystery and magic where the extraordinary is ordinary and a new adventure waits around every corner. The novella starts with a characteristically Dream Vision beginning, the main protagonist falls asleep in the midst of an emotionally impasse moment. In this instance, Alice is reflecting on the never ending nature of her sister s monotonous reading tone. She escapes to another realm, which offers her an exciting life that moves at an exponential rate. I will focus on the structural and functional properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun). Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ted Bundy is perhaps a household name. His crimes were so horrendous and large that people more or less recognize him, even if they do not know the reason. From the outside, Bundy grew up in a loving middle class family. However, Born on November 24, 1946, Theodore Ted Bundy started life as his family s embarrassing secret. His mother was just twenty two years old when she had him, young and unwed, which disgusted her extremely religious parents. The grandparents quickly took him in and made him believe is mother was his sister, hiding the truth from him at all costs. This was just the first of many problems he had through his life. His fascination with knives started at just the age of three, foreshadowing the crimes would come later. Early in the industrial era, there was no minimum wage, leaving it up to the factory owners to set the rate at which their workers were to be paid. Some owners did not pay their employees in cash but in company scrip which could be redeemed at the company store. • 22. The Working Alliance Between Supervisor And Supervisee Clinical Supervision is defined as a distinct professional activity in which education and training aimed at developing science informed practice are facilitated through a collaborative interpersonal process (Falender Shafranske, 2004). According to Falander and Shafranske (2004), clinical supervision involves observation, feedback, facilitating self assessment of the supervisee, and knowledge acquisition through a variety of methods. In supervising developing therapists, more senior members of the profession monitor the overall quality and development of the professional services being offered by beginning members of the profession (Knox et. al., 2008). Similar to what we know about therapy, the working alliance between supervisor and supervisee is an essential piece of what would be considered a positive supervisory experience. Bordin (1983) defined the working alliance within clinical supervision as a collaborative process based on three central aspects: mutual agreement and understanding regarding the goals of supervision; mutual agreement and understanding regarding the tasks of supervision; and the emotional bond between supervisor and supervisee. Specifically, an effective supervisory alliance has been shown to be related to a variety of positive outcomes within supervision, including enhanced trainee multicultural competence (Ladany, Brittan Powell, Pannu, 1997), increased trainee self disclosure (Ladany et al., 1997), reduced stress and psychological ... • 24. Holy Sonnet 14 Analysis Holy Sonnet 14 presents the struggle between following one s faith and the alluring baseness of the human experience. This work fixates on the ties the speaker has to Satan, and the inability to break those ties without God s intervention. A vein of nearly mad desperation courses through the poem from submissive start to subjugated end, culminating in a pained, almost violent plea for Godto ravish him. One can see how the speaker s desolation builds; he longs for God to break him down and repair him, raise him up and make [him] new in the first quatrain, but by the finalcouplet he embraces imprisonment, razing and ravishing. He believes himself unworthy of deliverance in such a far fallen state, requiring trial and punishment before he can again live in the lord s light. An initial hopefulness tempers the anguish of the opening quatrain, and the speaker obviously feels as if God can still mend his corrupted heart. His restoration to a more holy image requires submission to the agony of liberation from sin. An erratic syntax littered with trochees, spondees, and anapests indicates a mercurial, near frenzied quality to his plea. Donne does not employ a single straight iambic line in the entire poem; BAT ter , a trochee, punctuates the opening line, blunt and rough. This imperative moodof the first verb establishes the urgency of the first quatrain, and the subtle continuance of imperative verbs displays the prevailing tone of pleading, anxious desire for salvation. ... This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750. The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division. Problem No. 2 Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp s profit by using the formula for basic cost per unit and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can manipulate the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. Other cultural assimilation is colonization, historically many of the world s cases occurred in several nations of Europe in other continents. With much logic I believe that children are much more open to cultural assimilation than others. If we talk about loss of culture and values we approach immigrant assimilation, but if their own traits persist and are at the break. • 36. Natural Transcendence In Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer Natural transcendence is a call that not all people feel, however for those who do hear it, it is nearly impossible to ignore. The great outdoors represent so much to so many and is a gift that so many reap the benefits of. Some people like the danger and power of nature, while others like the placid serenity that allows them to be fully at peace. The novel Into The Wildby Jon Krakauer is all about transcendence through natureand the lessons learned through that type of eternal peace. The novel is about a young man, Chris McCandless, who after completing his education and seemed to be set up for future success, decided to leave everything behind and travel into the Alaskan wildernessin search for more meaning and connection to nature. On his journey to the wild he encountered many different people that taught him many lessons about other perspectives and lenses for which to view life, however these new connections he made were not enlightening enough and he still chose to venture into the Alaskan wilderness. Mccandless traveled into the wilderness and left his life behind because he did not feel as though the traditional world was a close enough connection to total transcendence and inner peace. I believe that all of the choices were credible and a viable topic in their own regards, but the reason this one hit home for me was because of the simplicity of the scandal. It s hard to believe that someone could have made off with the amount of money Bernard did when the idea of a Ponzi scheme was notable as early as the 19th century, and was named after Charles Ponzi in 1920 after his scandal created enough issues to make it more aware to the public of what was happening. The fact that this happened almost 100 years later at the level that it did and where it happened made me extremely concerned and interested in the topic. In this paper I will cover the details happening up to the scandal, the scandal itself, the people involved in the scandal, the legislation and regulations implemented after the scandal, and my views on the outcome of the scandal. Bernard Madoff was born April 29th, 1928 in Queens, New York. He grew up as a son of two Jewish parents, one of which was a stockbroker. He graduated from Hofstra University in 1960 with a degree in Political Science and then moved on to attend Brooklyn Law School where he dropped out to start and pursue his own company, Bernard L. Shown through various chapters ,Christine matures into a young beautiful sexual female, Erick begins to desire her and fantasize over her ;filling his underground lair with sketches of her, different scenes of her signing in the opera house, and a wax figure of her in a wedding dress. Therefore, these different scences throughout the book may support the claim that Erick does not really love Christine but is obsessed with her out of the fear of being lonely and isolated from the world one more. Can Erick having never having been love or been in love can really reciprocate such feelings? However, such claims are rebutted by his acts in the final chapters letting Christen go and giving her the gift of freedom. Making the saying if you love someone , you let them go. Ducati Group s Strategic Plan Before to Ducati s acquisition by Texas Pacific Group, a deep financial crisis affected Ducati, undermining its production and consequently negatively affecting its market results. Production was less than production capacity and therefore it was clear that a relaunch of the company was necessary. The strategic plan carried out by Ducati Group, with the help of newly appointed Minoli, focused on the idea of increasing the company s value through a growth in turnover volume and protection of product profit margins. One of the most interesting aspects of the changes embraced by the Ducati, is the restructuring of the production system which began in the mid 1990s in order to maintain the product margin and increase the level of sales and turnover. To further prove that this poem contains romantic undertones, it should be noted that Remember is a Petrarchan sonnet, containing fourteen lines and a volta, known for focusing on courtship or love. The feeling of longing produced in her poem suggests Rossetti uses Albert s voice to reach out to the Queen to help her cope with her loss. Rather than using the first person to be the subject of the poem, Rossetti chooses the style to further apply a personal connection with her readers (and most importantly Queen Victoria). War Between Europeans And Indians Suspicion and hostility, branching from technological and cultural differences, as well as, mutual feelings of being superior, have infused relations between Native Americans and non Natives in North America. Intertribal conflicts among the Indians, and nationalistic rivalries, lacking faith, and expansion desires on the part of non natives worsened these tensions. The resulting white and native conflicts often took a particularly bad turn and resulted in the near destruction of the native people(Native American). War between Europeans and Indians was common back in the 1600s. In 1622, the Powhatans nearly wiped out the already struggling Jamestown colony. Frustrated at the continuing conflicts, Nathaniel Bacon and a group of whites destroyed the Pamunkey Indians before leading an unsuccessful revolt against colonial authorities in 1676. Continuous wars also plagued early Dutch colonies in New York. In New England, Puritan forces wiped out the Pequots in 1636, a campaign s intensity that seemed to shape the future. Following attacks inspired by King Philip against English settlements sparked a concerted response from the New England Confederation. Employing Indian partnerships and a scorched earth policy, the colonists nearly wiped out the Narragansetts, Wampanoag, and Nipmuck tribes in 1675 and1676. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. Some scholars put forth that Ezekial was likely influenced by an image of Baal, an idol with four faces, those of a bull, a lion, a man, and a dragon. The idol was brought to Jerusalem during the eighth century BCE and the theory is that Ezekial may have re imagined the four faced divinity in his own vision. One could also argue that given the expansive territory that the Roman Empire covered during Ezekial s lifetime, apart from the Lascaux cave paintings, it is highly likely that he was familiar with images of the abovementioned artworks.
