Consider The Lobster By David Foster Wallace Summary
Consider the Lobster 2 In the essay, Consider the Lobster, by David Foster Wallace, a point about
morality with regards to animal abuse is brought up. Much like minorities in America, lobsters are
considered to be the lowest tier of the animal society. The main point about the essay is to alert people
about the issues of torturing animals just for the sake of our humanistic pleasure. What is socially
acceptable as normal behavior is not always the most ethical or moral behavior. At the beginning of
the essay the author describes an annual tradition in Maine, the Lobster Festival. The festival is self
explanatory in that people from all over the area gather to indulge in immense amounts of lobsters.
While this part of the festival is

Characteristics Of Judaism
There are many religions across the world, 4,200 to be exact. However, the most practiced religions
only come down to five, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Some of these are
very similar, but each of these religions has unique and distinct characteristics that set them apart from
one another. Judaism is an ancient monotheistic religion that encompasses the religion and way of life
of the Jewish people. Judaism is a monotheistic religion that believes in the god named HaShem. It
was founded around 1800 B.C.E in Israel by Abraham. Abraham and Moses were very important
people, Abraham being the prophet of God and Moses saving hundreds of slaves from Egypt. The
symbol of Judaism is David s Star, (✡) this was used in a prayer book as a title of the god of Israel.
Jewish people worship their religions in temples and learn their religion from their sacred text, Torah.
The religion teaches the Ten Commandments, which teaches to cause no harm and to remain peaceful.
Some rules are to not eat pork and rest on Sabbath. The goal of Judaism is to maintain a positive moral
behavior. The Jewish belief is that when you die, you are taken to the Promised land by Moses.
(Continued on next page)
Some holidays that they will celebrate are Hanukkah: the festival of lights that starts on December
13th, and Rosh Hashanah: the Jewish New Year on September 22nd. Judaism has many different
characteristics and ways of life. The second founded religion was Hinduism.

Friedman Being Free
There is a near connection between political work and science to do with the producing, distribution,
and using up of goods and work supply, and different systems of the 2 can only have existence side by
side in certain pairings. For example, says Friedman, a society which is (by money and goods) one
supporting theory that nation being owner is right can not also be (politically) rights giving, in the
sense of being responsible for person freedom. As an of money and goods system, system where
persons are owners gives help to state of being free both directly and in a round about way; on one
hand market states of being free are their own states of being free, and on the other, they give help to
wider political states of being free. property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
clearly it is not an enough condition, for Italy and Spain under fascism 1 and tzarist Russia were not
politically free but were ruled by money and goods by free enterprise. As political and of money and
goods state of being free expanded in the 19th hundred, by the early twentieth hundred it had made
come into existence a reaction against it self. Welfare rather than state of being free became the chief
note in rights giving countries, wrote Friedman, and Western governments by all with equal rights
moved in the direction of collectivization.

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay
Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they help
each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of range
could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad hoc
networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to
the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure
(base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing
protocols for this type of network.
Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys
between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and
digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the
network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message
routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability
(time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it
adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue
when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one
way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each
node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational
capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC
key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the
TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source.
Route Discovery consist of two parts: Route Request and Route Reply. Route request message is

Confederate Monuments Pros And Cons
In the argumentative article Pro/Con: Should Cities Remove Confederate Monuments? the authors
debate the question by using the pros and cons of the argument. This argument has become a popular
topic among American citizens the past few weeks. Many monuments have been taken down and
some moved to less public places due to violence caused by what the monuments represent. The
monuments have caused a split between Americans, one hoping to bring them down, the other hoping
to keep them up. After reading the pros and cons, it is clear that the Confederate Monuments should
not be taken down since they are historical monuments.
Supporters of removing the Confederate monuments say that it honors racism; however, the
monuments connect the past to

San Francisco Modern Art Museum
On October 25, the class went to San Francisco to visit the San Francisco Modern Art Museum. In the
museum, there were many interesting and fascinating art pieces. The SFMoma is a large and spacious
museum. The exhibits are large and in each exhibit there is at least one famous art piece. My favorite
floor would have been floors 5, 6,and 7 because of all the famous artworks such as Andy Warhol s
Triple Elvis and Nine Marilyns in them. The overall appearance of the museum was contemporary.
One piece of art that I enjoyed in the SFMoma was the Policeman by Duane Hanson. This art piece
was made through 1992 1994. I enjoyed this art piece because this sculpture is very realistic. The
viewer could see the veins in the arms and face. You were able to see the the individual hairs on the
policeman s arms, neck, and face. On the face, there are patches of red on his cheeks. His mustache
had the overgrown look, so there was hair on his lip. His eyes look directly to the viewer. He doesn t
have much emotion on his face He has a dispassionate and stern look. The fabric he is wearing had a
cotton like texture making it believable. Duane Hanson is known for making sculptures like this one.
His style is usually related to pop art or modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lichtenstein created this piece in 1978. This art piece was created using oil and magna on canvas. I
found this painting interesting because the art piece is very colorful and has many dots and lines
giving it the pop art/comic book look. The figures in this art piece don t stand out a lot. The lines and
dots in my opinion make the painting really pop out to the viewer. The painting is has overall happy
mood, there aren t any dark colors showing otherwise. Figures with Sunset is a cubist painting and its
genre is abstract art. Figures with Sunset is a very large piece of artwork, almost taking up an entire

Essay on Juice Guys Case Study Analysis
Juice Guysâ„¢ In the summer of 1998, Nantucket Nectar created a subsidiary of their brand called Juice
Guys. This new product was comprised of fresh juice and fruit smoothie drinks that were taking over
the West Coast. Within three and a half months, Juice Guys had sold a total of 175,000 items ranging
from smoothies, yogurts, sorbets, Nantucket Nectar drinks and fresh squeezed juices. Juice Guys
revenue went up to 91% and they made a profit of $227,000 in sales. Noticing the tremendous success
within the industry in such a short time, Nantucket Nectar and Juice Guys decided to expand this new
juice retail concept into the East Coast. Their primary focus within the East Coast was expansion into
the Boston market. Although this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article stated that, many East Coast baby boomers were wondering, what s a smoothie? (Fox
Rushmore, 1999, p. 4). This statement not only indicated that people in the East Coast were not aware
of this new juice trend, it also stated that consumers demands and tastes can greatly change from one
demographic to another (Fox Rushmore, 1999, p. 4); whereas allowing Juice Guys the opportunity to
sell more than just juice and also resulting in Juice Guys indentifying between the ages of 18 35 to be
their leading influential target market.
With having only one of The Four Ps, (the place), Juice Guys had to come up with a marketing plan to
develop the other three Ps; which were of product, promotion and price. Juice Guys knew they wanted
to sell fresh juices and fruit smoothies; however, they needed to know if the consumers wanted more
than just those products. Also, they needed to find a way to promote their new products and make their
prices economically feasible for the consumers in this new place; which was Boston. In order to
accomplish this, they needed consumers to let them know what they thought was the ultimate juice
shop.
Marketing research defined is the systematic design, collection, analysis, and reporting of data and
findings relevant to a specific marketing situation facing the company (Kotler Keller, 2009, p. G6).

The Use Of Art And The Focal Points
Established as a military fort, Dura Europos fended off Persian invaders from the Roman Empire. The
Persians eventually defeated Dura, however when the city was rediscovered many monuments were
found (Tronzo). The most common form of surviving art consisted of paintings found on the interior
walls of buildings in Dura. In particular, two buildings were found that had been used as religious
meeting places. The first is a domus ecclesiae which is Greek for house church that belonged to the
Christian community (Tronzo). The second is a Jewish synagogue that was built in Dura specifically
for use by the Jews. Both of these establishments contain paintings that were used for ritual and
symbolism, but they differ in a couple key ways: their narrative, their style, and their focus. In
particular, this paper seeks to compare the use of art and the focal points (or niche) in the domus
ecclesiae and the synagogue. The domus ecclesiae was established around 235 CE. The artist is
unknown, but definitely made by Christians. This is evidenced by the location of the murals. These
murals lie deep inside a home in Dura Europos, and are not accessible directly from the front. Secco is
used in these paintings, and was much easier to use than fresco. This style of painting was cheaper
than fresco because it allowed the artist to paint onto dry plaster instead of painting into wet plaster.
The style is interesting, because the murals are not lavish (Tronzo). For example, although the

Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a soft, fat like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body s cells. It s
normal to have cholesterol. It s an important part of a healthy body because it s used for producing cell
membranes and some hormones, and serves other needed bodily functions. But too high a level of
cholesterol in the blood is a major risk for coronary heart disease, which leads to heart attack. It s also
a risk factor for stroke. Hypercholesterolemia is the term for high levels of blood cholesterol. You get
cholesterol in two ways. Your body makes some of it, and the rest comes from cholesterol in animal
products that you eat, such as meats, poultry, fish, eggs, butter, cheese and whole milk. Food from

Some people — such as women before menopause and young, active men who have no other risk
factors — may have high HDL cholesterol and desirable LDL levels. Ask your doctor to interpret your
results. Everyone s case is different. High risk if your total cholesterol level is 240 or more, it s
definitely high. Your risk of heart attack and stroke is greater. In general, people who have a total
cholesterol level of 240 mg/dL have twice the risk of heart attack as people whose cholesterol level is
200 mg/dL. You need more tests. Ask your doctor for advice. About 20 percent of the U.S. population
has high blood cholesterol levels. Your LDL cholesterol level greatly affects your risk of heart attack
and stroke. The lower your LDL cholesterol, the lower your risk. In fact, it s a better gauge of risk than
total blood cholesterol. Your LDL cholesterol will fall into one of these categories: LDL Cholesterol
Levels Less than 100 mg/dL Optimal 100 to 129 mg/dL Near Optimal/ Above Optimal 130 to 159
mg/dL Borderline High 160 to 189 mg/dL High 190 mg/dL and above Very High The key point to
remember is the lower your LDL cholesterol, the lower your risk. Your doctor may prescribe a diet
low in saturated fat and cholesterol, regular exercise and a weight management program if you re
overweight. If you can t lower your cholesterol with these efforts, medications may also be prescribed

Ama-Terasus, From The Greek Myth Of The Trojan War
All throughout history, there has been a fine balance between government and family. Millions go off
to war to fight for their country, while leaving their precious lives and families behind. Hector, and
many other Greeks and Trojans, had to go off and fight for their loved ones and defend their beloved
country. In the same way, Ama Terasu had to push away her own brother, so she could focus on her
own duties and rule over the land. Hector, from the Trojan War, and Ama Terasu, from the Japanese
Myth, are two perfect examples of two people/gods finding perfect peace between defending their
countries and being with their loved ones for all of their days.
In the Greek myth of the Trojan War, Hector had to say goodbye to his family, knowing that he may
never be able to see them again. His wife, Andromache, begged him to stay, as they had just had a new
baby boy, Ajax. At the sight of Hector, Ajax bursted into tears in fear as he was wearing a helmet, and
he didn t recognize him right away. As soon as he took off his helmet, he clung to Hector acting as if
he had never been apart from him. Hector knew what he had to do, so he walked away with tears in
his eyes. Sadly there wasn t a happy ending, Hector died in the war, and his wife was later separated
from their son, as he was brutally killed.
Meanwhile, in the Japanese mythology, Ama Terasu wasn t in a war, although she still had to choose

Limb loss has long plagued United States Service men and women . Ranging from the Union Army
during the Civil War was more than 21,000 combat related amputations suffered (2012 2). Besides the
repercussions of war, about 5,000 veterans may have faced amputation from disease or accidents each
year (Dao,2010). As for today Improvised Explosive Devices and landmines are a prominent cause of
veterans acquiring injuries that result in amputations. There is a large population of about 32,200

not look and feel like a biological limb, but it comes close in providing the functions and fills the
blank space of a missing limb. Providing individuals with bionic prosthetic technology assists in the
reduction of health care cost by enabling an individual to maintain an appropriate activity level.
Bionic limbs enables people to return to work and other important daily activities faster and easier
than before ( Hixenbaugh, 2010, p. 721). With the use of bionics an amputee can walk with a natural
gait and reduce the occurrence of stress on other joints ( Hixenbaugh, 2010, p. 725). This alleviates the
chance of chronic or acute pain. An amputee can achieve a close to normal or normal metabolic
energy exertion and reduced the amount of energy exerted from the amputee ( Hixenbaugh, 2010, p.
725). This may give the wearer the ability to withstand longer minor physical activities, such as
walking for longer periods of time. Individals that wear BioM walk at 23% faster than the speed of
wearing a traditional prosthetic ( Hixenbaugh, 2010, p. 725). This gives an amputee to walk at a
natural speed. Through the use of external input bionics use, amputees gain the ability to safely walk
on different terrains and stairs. Overall bionic prosthetics improve quality of life for amputee veterans

effective dieting plan and achieves what it preaches. The Atkins Diet has its first beginnings during the
early 70 s when it was introduced by Dr. Robert Atkins. He was looking for an effective dieting

changed a little bit since it first made its way into the public arena. It is a low carbohydrate, high
protein and fat diet that is a more favorable alternative to a low calorie diet. With the Atkins Diet, one
does not have to count calorie intake. One can eat as often as he wants to and as many as he wants to
as long as he stays clear of carbohydrates and sugar. A lot of health benefits await a person about to go
on the Atkins Diet. The weight loss that happens while on the Atkins Diet may have favorable results
overall since the body has transferred from burning carbohydrates to burning fats in the body as its
primary energy source. The low carbohydrate diet also lowers the insulin production of the body and
therefore may help in preventing diseases like diabetes. The high protein intake that comes with the
Atkins diet can also reduce one s craving for food, so appetite can easily be controlled. The protein
rich as well as high fat foods that one consumes with the Atkins Diet are more satisfying and more
filling that the dieter would not have to feel that he is being starved. Those are just some of the

The Mountain Man Brewing Company Expansion
Guntar Prangle founded Mountain Man Brewing Company in 1925 in West Virginia and is still owned

Mountain Man Brewing Company is considering an expansion of its product line due to declining
revenues. The family owned beer producer has built a strong brand around its prize product, Mountain
Man Lager, over its last 70+ years of operation. Due to its highly valued brand, the organization is
particularly fearful of the negative effect alternating its product mix could have on its reputation and
image and the potential for customer alienation.
The primary objective of this case is to determine if Chris Prangel, the marketing operations manager
of Mountain Man Brewing Company, will unveil the Mountain Man Light. Introducing such a product
would be in line with the increasing market demand for light beer products, which would ultimately
cater to the young adults preference for light beer.
Problem Statement
Revenue has been slowly eroding as increasing competition in a maturing market and new products
threaten to pull customers away from the brand. With the lite beer drawing more younger and female
consumers away from the traditional darker lager, Mountain Man is not attracting the younger adults
and female consumers with its current ale.

Introduction
Taylorism, additionally known as Scientific Management, is a theory of management methodology
that emphasizes on maximising work efficiency. Developed and named after an American industrial
engineer, Frederick Winslow Taylor. Through thorough use of a stopwatch and a clipboard, Taylor put
all his research and outcomes into a book called the Principles of Scientific Management, which was
later published in 1911. In the monograph Taylor s notion was to mend the economical proficiency,
principally in the labouring output. He believed that there were great losses, when the whole country

Helping an organisation to handle the most efficient use of its properties and accomplish set targets is
the prime job of a management. The management of an establishment will consist of an operational
structure which will clearly underline the different ranks of individuals, groups and departments.
While the preliminary procedure of Scientific Management in dealing with matters of work efficiency
and productivity is related back to the late 19th century and early 20th century in the history of
management theory, the equivalent of managerial necessities are evident in the industry today and the
application of Scientific Management s fundamental principles can be exercised to successfully

Benefits
The number one reason as to why Scientific Management is still essential for any form of

This is 25 times more loss of life than all illegal drugs combined (Bender, 168). Alcoholism and

Drinking only a daily base can lead to effects such as: blackouts, where you can t remember what
happened, and insomnia, where you can t fall asleep. While you are drinking you will be less alert,
less aware of your surroundings, lose your muscular coordination, have difficulty walking, have
blurred vision, and have slow reaction times. This can lead to accidents, injuries, and death. Also after
drinking you may get a hangover the next morning which will include effects like headaches, nausea,

Caryl Phillips The Nature of Blood Essay
Caryl Phillips The Nature of Blood
On its most immediate level, Caryl Phillips The Nature of Blood narrates several stories of the Jewish
Diaspora, using the familiar Shakespearean character Othello to provide a counterpoint to the others
experiences of displacement. The Nature of Blood thus initially seems to fit awkwardly among texts
by other West Indian authors who use the Caribbean as the setting of their work or incorporate West
Indian characters into their work. Through his multi stranded narrative, however, Phillips creates a
geographical setting that mirrors the multi regional influence of the Caribbean. The triangular space of
Europe, the Middle East, and Africa shaped by the character s stories parallels the historical ... Show

This triangular situation of spaces in turn allows Phillips, while not specifically addressing the region,
to explore the condition of the Caribbean diaspora.
The first narrative of The Nature of Blood unsettles the existence of geographical home by
questioning optimistic views of settlement. Stephan opens the novel, explaining plans for the creation
of the new state of Israel to Moshe, a Romanian Holocaust survivor. Their dialogue reveals Moshe s
unease with the claim to Israel as a new Jewish state, even as Stephan expresses optimism: Tell me,
what will be the name of the country? Our country, I said. The country will belong to you too (Phillips
3). While Stephan insists upon claiming Israel both for himself and Moshe, Moshe resists this
possessiveness, hence his inquiry about the country rather than his country. Even after Stephan asserts
that Moshe has as much stake in Israel as the other settlers, Moshe hesitates, failing even to remember
the name of the new country. At the same time that Stephan and Moshe s dialogue questions
resettlement, the prose of the novel s opening establishes Moshe as part of a diasporic population. The
narrator describes Moshe as one of the

Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter
Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter was problematic because it took place in three very different
environments and it was not always clear as to how they were related. Nonetheless, Cimino won
several Academy Awards because of his film s structure. Dividing the film into the three sections he
was able to tie different environments and depict the bloody Vietnam War and Americas involvement.
His film was very controversial but ultimately paid off.

Security in a Post September 11th World Essay
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, have greatly changed security policies in the United
States. September 11, 2001, is an infamous day that has changed the United States in numerous
aspects. After this infamous day, many people live with the fear of experiencing another major attack.
After the attacks the national Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as
the 9/11 Commission, was created. One task given to the 9/11 Commission was to provide
recommendations designed to prevent future attacks. In order to prevent another attack the power of

The system did not protect against suicide bombing or hijacking. The prescreening system has since
been expanded to protect against these threats by triggering a secondary screening of passengers and
carry on items. The checkpoint screening technology used on September 11, 2001, received very little
improvement since the 1970s; therefore, the technology was very limited in its capabilities. One goal
of the TSA was and still is to correct the vulnerabilities of screening technology. Eventually, Whole
Body Imaging, or WBI, machines were developed to remove the vulnerabilities of the screening
process. However, WBI scanners struggle to gain acceptance by passengers because of many believe
the machines invade one s privacy due to the high resolution, reveling images of the passenger. Health
precautions also are factors in people s reluctance to use the machine. Many people fear that
possibility of being irradiated by the x rays used by the machines. When going through airport security
today, one will be given the choice of using the WBI scanner or have a pat down by a TSA officer. The
9/11 Commission called for the addressing of human factors issues at screening checkpoints. Human
factors issues that need to be addressed included screener selection and training, fitness for duty, and
human interaction with screening technologies. To improve the issues in this area, universities and

Persuasive Speech About Drug Use
People are beginning to wake up and realize that drug prohibition is an utter failure a waste of time
and resources, at the very least. Yet, not everyone is quite convinced, thanks to decades of
propoganda, hear say, and misinformation. From an outsider s perspective, it s quite easy to empathize
with people that genuinely think drugs are a gateway to darkness and despair, with the statistics of
violence and criminal activity, potential dangers that come with drug use, and social stigmas, that run
amok in society. However, as we continue to evolve and advance our technological capabilities,
expand our scientific knowledge, and grow closer towards collectively understanding the strange
phenomena we call life , we also learn more about the past. We have more to work with when
formulating hypotheses and theories about our species origins, what our ancestors were like, how far
we ve evolved, etc. Perhaps one of the more shocking bits of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

contradictory evidence which states the remains of the ephedra may have come from rodents in the

The Economy s Growing and the Standard of Living in the...
During the 20th century economy has changed and international trade has been developped. It allowed
to increase our standard of living. Therefore we need to understand why countries have opened their
boarder and what the impact is. To do that we need to understantd what the trade bring to us in
defining the comparative advantage. After that one important point is to understand which effect the
technological change has on trade. Then the main point that it s whether trade is benefical for
everyone or leads to dangerous competitveness and why this behaviour can happen like protectionims
and which are the consequences.
First of all we need to define what the comparative advantage is. One obvious concept is that country s

So you will decide to produce the good for which you have the greater disadvantage. For example if
you have sufficiently lower wage therefore you have lower costs so it implies that you pay low enough
wages to have a comparative advantage. So in the diagrame below you can see how change the
consumption point when a country decide to trade with foreign country.
So firstly you see that you produce both of goods and then you decide to specialize and produce more
of good 2. After that you can export and import the difference. That leads to a better consumption
equilibrium that increases your satisfaction. Hence this rearrangement of the world ressources induces
to a raise of the production and induces to a raise in the standard of living.
Firstly as Thurow (Clyde, V. and Prestowitz, C. (1994)) said, the meaning of ressources has changed.
In the traditional theory we have seen that the natural resource endowments and the factor proportions
determine in which good the country should specialise. Now he explains that it s not because Japan
has no coal and no iron ore that it can be the leader of steel industry. Therefore we see that the
technology has had a very important effect on the traditional theory. The natural ressources have been
pushed out by the technology. Now we have to take into account that a country does not depend on its
traditional ressources but more its ability to adapt.

Assessment Of An Best Assessment For Diane Essay
Assessment Plan
Assessment Question In order to provide the best assessment for Diane, we as a team need to focus on
our assessment question as follows: Who is Diane as a person, and what are her unmet needs in her
daily life, especially in regards to her current mode of communication and her interactions with
family/partners; additionally, are there any barriers currently halting progress? It is vital that Diane s
best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own desires will lead our
assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above question in four steps in order
ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane.
First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we
are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life (Beukelman
Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). Research has shown that children and young adults with cerebral palsy are at
risk for having a high amount of unmet needs, especially in relation to health care (Jackson,
Krishnaswami, McPheeters, 2011; Nieuwenhuijse et al., 2007). As health care professionals, we need
to be aware of Diane s unmet needs in order to identify her own personal goals and skills in order to
plan an accurate model of intervention.
Second, it is necessary to understand Diane s current mode of communication. Beukelman and

Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay
Fall of the Roman Empire
The Roman empire was one of the most powerful and greater empires of its time during the late
antiquity period. The Roman empire was divided into an east and west. The Western Empire would
last until 467 C.E., while the Eastern Empire would stand through the next century. Although the
Western Empire outlasted the Eastern Empire it still faced its own challenges and would collapse in
1453. Many historians have considered the fall of the Roman Empire and the reasoning behind it.
Edward Gibbon would be the first to propose his theories about the topic. Other historians such as
Peter Heather, Peter Brown, and Henri Pierenne have studied many sources and have come up with
their own theories. Considering all historians points of view, I think that Peters Heather s ideologies
make the most plausible case. Heather s used a wide spread of sources when he looked at the fall of

The biggest problem people have with organic farming is weed control. You canít use chemicals, so it

planting until the ground is warmer and using the crop rotations helps out tremendously. One tool that
farmers can use is a flamer to get rid of weeds. According to Bowman, ìFlames from LP gas burners

Benefits Of Live And Virtual Domains Enhances Training
Air Force units and personnel need to train in a complex tactical, operational, and strategic level
environment, under all likely threat and weather conditions, emulating potential contingency locations
world wide, while integrating with composite, joint, and coalition partners. XX Combining the unique
benefits of live and virtual domains enhances training by increasing opportunities to train with joint
and multinational partners, enabling realistic combat scenarios, and ensuring interoperability of
systems. While live training exercises are limited by the number of players available, through
distributed LVC OT more players can be brought into training scenarios. This expanded access to
training events allows for a realistic blue force laydown for readiness training that supports specific

found in most ordinary situations. It has no preference for the common or spectacular. Here, are few
places 23 have chosen to show itself: The recent book 23 minutes in hell The 23rd Psalm 23
chromosomes Julius Caesar was stabbed 23 times. There are 2,300 stones comprising the Great
Pyramid. It takes 23 seconds for blood to circulate through the human body. The biorhythmic cycle of
a human being is said to be 23 days. There are 23 vertebrae in the human body. The Ancient Egyptians
celebrated the New Year on July 23. Thousands of people have found themselves stalked by this
number. Many people get spooked and paranoid at seeing this number turn up repeatedly throughout
their day or week. It can be unsettling to have anything following you, especially when you have no
idea why. The number 23 has almost become a case of mass hysteria. Evidence of its hold on us came

Google defines synchronicity as the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly
related but have no discernible causal connection. The number 23 has an uncanny way of appearing at
times when we least expect it. There seems to be no obvious relationship between this number and the
corresponding event. The properties of the number 23 are mysterious. It possesses an elusive nature. It
s difficult to isolate exactly why 23 appears at the exact moment a significant event occurs. Even
mathematicians are unable to explain the mechanics behind this process. I m sure it s a science we

  • 2. Consider The Lobster By David Foster Wallace Summary Consider the Lobster 2 In the essay, Consider the Lobster, by David Foster Wallace, a point about morality with regards to animal abuse is brought up. Much like minorities in America, lobsters are considered to be the lowest tier of the animal society. The main point about the essay is to alert people about the issues of torturing animals just for the sake of our humanistic pleasure. What is socially acceptable as normal behavior is not always the most ethical or moral behavior. At the beginning of the essay the author describes an annual tradition in Maine, the Lobster Festival. The festival is self explanatory in that people from all over the area gather to indulge in immense amounts of lobsters. While this part of the festival is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Characteristics Of Judaism There are many religions across the world, 4,200 to be exact. However, the most practiced religions only come down to five, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Some of these are very similar, but each of these religions has unique and distinct characteristics that set them apart from one another. Judaism is an ancient monotheistic religion that encompasses the religion and way of life of the Jewish people. Judaism is a monotheistic religion that believes in the god named HaShem. It was founded around 1800 B.C.E in Israel by Abraham. Abraham and Moses were very important people, Abraham being the prophet of God and Moses saving hundreds of slaves from Egypt. The symbol of Judaism is David s Star, (✡) this was used in a prayer book as a title of the god of Israel. Jewish people worship their religions in temples and learn their religion from their sacred text, Torah. The religion teaches the Ten Commandments, which teaches to cause no harm and to remain peaceful. Some rules are to not eat pork and rest on Sabbath. The goal of Judaism is to maintain a positive moral behavior. The Jewish belief is that when you die, you are taken to the Promised land by Moses. (Continued on next page) Some holidays that they will celebrate are Hanukkah: the festival of lights that starts on December 13th, and Rosh Hashanah: the Jewish New Year on September 22nd. Judaism has many different characteristics and ways of life. The second founded religion was Hinduism. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Friedman Being Free There is a near connection between political work and science to do with the producing, distribution, and using up of goods and work supply, and different systems of the 2 can only have existence side by side in certain pairings. For example, says Friedman, a society which is (by money and goods) one supporting theory that nation being owner is right can not also be (politically) rights giving, in the sense of being responsible for person freedom. As an of money and goods system, system where persons are owners gives help to state of being free both directly and in a round about way; on one hand market states of being free are their own states of being free, and on the other, they give help to wider political states of being free. property ... • 5. Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they help each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of range could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad hoc networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing protocols for this type of network. Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source. This argument has become a popular topic among American citizens the past few weeks. Many monuments have been taken down and some moved to less public places due to violence caused by what the monuments represent. The monuments have caused a split between Americans, one hoping to bring them down, the other hoping to keep them up. After reading the pros and cons, it is clear that the Confederate Monuments should not be taken down since they are historical monuments. • 7. San Francisco Modern Art Museum On October 25, the class went to San Francisco to visit the San Francisco Modern Art Museum. In the museum, there were many interesting and fascinating art pieces. The SFMoma is a large and spacious museum. The exhibits are large and in each exhibit there is at least one famous art piece. My favorite floor would have been floors 5, 6,and 7 because of all the famous artworks such as Andy Warhol s Triple Elvis and Nine Marilyns in them. The overall appearance of the museum was contemporary. One piece of art that I enjoyed in the SFMoma was the Policeman by Duane Hanson. This art piece was made through 1992 1994. I enjoyed this art piece because this sculpture is very realistic. The viewer could see the veins in the arms and face. You were able to see the the individual hairs on the policeman s arms, neck, and face. On the face, there are patches of red on his cheeks. His mustache had the overgrown look, so there was hair on his lip. His eyes look directly to the viewer. He doesn t have much emotion on his face He has a dispassionate and stern look. The fabric he is wearing had a cotton like texture making it believable. Duane Hanson is known for making sculptures like this one. His style is usually related to pop art or modern ... • 9. The Use Of Art And The Focal Points Established as a military fort, Dura Europos fended off Persian invaders from the Roman Empire. The Persians eventually defeated Dura, however when the city was rediscovered many monuments were found (Tronzo). The most common form of surviving art consisted of paintings found on the interior walls of buildings in Dura. In particular, two buildings were found that had been used as religious meeting places. The first is a domus ecclesiae which is Greek for house church that belonged to the Christian community (Tronzo). The second is a Jewish synagogue that was built in Dura specifically for use by the Jews. Both of these establishments contain paintings that were used for ritual and symbolism, but they differ in a couple key ways: their narrative, their style, and their focus. In particular, this paper seeks to compare the use of art and the focal points (or niche) in the domus ecclesiae and the synagogue. The domus ecclesiae was established around 235 CE. The artist is unknown, but definitely made by Christians. This is evidenced by the location of the murals. These murals lie deep inside a home in Dura Europos, and are not accessible directly from the front. Secco is used in these paintings, and was much easier to use than fresco. This style of painting was cheaper than fresco because it allowed the artist to paint onto dry plaster instead of painting into wet plaster. The style is interesting, because the murals are not lavish (Tronzo). For example, although the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
